Always answers the phone, gives advice and even checked in when I was sick. Has made the schooling process massively more enjoyable and I cannot put into words how great she has been. She is the reason I am continuing with school to be entirely frank, and also the main reason I am excited for it.

I now work in a management role supporting 180 application with 5 teams and I just love it. This degree changed my life. The professors reach out to the students individually to make sure they're understanding the material and to see if they need any help. DeVry also offers several other resources to help if and when you need it such as Tutor.com and ASPIRE, which is an organization that helps with personal issues. As an older student trying to learn a new profession, going back to college is difficult. But it is even more difficult when the college staff, including the instructors, doesn't seem to care whether you succeed or not. In the past 8 years I have attended 4 different colleges, 2 on campus and 2 online, and DeVry University is the first one that actually cares about my success! My student advisor is frequently calling to see how classes are going, ask if there is anything that I need help with, and give me encouragement.
Whenever I call with a question, I'm answered by a friendly voice ready to answer, or find out the answer to help me. And the instructors are available to help with any problems regarding the schoolwork, and truly want their students to understand the lessons. I've never seen so many opportunities to join with and discuss different classes with your peers, and student that have already taken them, and are willing to help the others. The library, with so many peer-reviewed articles and journals, helps tremendously with my classes and is a wonderful source of information. And when I complete my studies, there is even HireDeVry to help get me placed in job focused on my area on studies.
I am very impressed with all that DeVry has to offer, all the help to help you complete your education, and the assistance to find that career job! There are even services to help one with their daily issues. What more could one ask from a university than to be behind their students 100% in getting that life-changing education? DeVry University is there for you through the whole journey.

The professors have been encouraging and well as the other students, during online interaction. They work with you in every way possible, cause their goal is for you to succeed. I would be lying if I said this has been easy. You have to be willing to put in the work. It won't come without effort. But it is absolutely worth the short time, for the outcome. I have loved this school and highly recommend it..

DeVry is the best. I have not seen a college more dedicated to their students. Admissions help me through every step of admissions, and financial aid without complaining. All I had to do was be on the phone a lot for a couple of days. Otherwise, I didn't do much. They did it all. They even set my schedule, for each session, for me. They have called every week to check up on me and see how things are going or if I have had any problems. I am in my second session and so far the professors are the BEST! They assist you in any difficulty you have with schoolwork. They do not judge and they listen when you talk. DeVry may cost a little more than other colleges but trust me, they are well worth it!

I had been wanting to go back to school for a while. But, I was afraid. I'm older, I've been out of school for over 10 years, money, and time. But, providing a better future for my little one and myself was something that I was determined to do. So, I started looking online and putting myself out there for schools to contact me. It was awful! Every school that called sounded so robotic, instantly going into money, never taking a breath from their script, there was no concern about me or my future. I was ready to quit answering my phone. I am very happy that I didn't give up, DeVry University called and it was exactly what I needed. A person on the other line that actually paid attention to what I had actually enter into the computer. Someone who cared about my future, my daughter's future, and my future career. I felt like I was talking to a friend, someone I could trust.
I am now enrolled at DeVry University and entering my second session. It was tough at first, trying to get a schedule down and figure out work, family, kids after school activities, school! But, DeVry offers so many tools to help with any situation! I have the best school advisor, the professors are amazing, understanding, FREE tutoring for you, that works around your schedule. Financial aid, loans, grants, I can, and want to go on. But, all I can say and highly suggest is, if you are looking to go back to school DeVry University is the best way to go. I am very thankful for DeVry University.
Taking that first step is always a challenge. We're pleased that our advisors were able to make it a little easier!

I have been attending DeVry for a little while now and when I first started I was enrolled in the Business Management program. I did pretty good the first few months but after that I started to slip a little and this was noticed especially by my student advisor Jennifer **. When she realized that I was slipping and that it would be a possibility that I would fail school she met with me and asked me very politely if there was anything that I was anything that I was interested in. Well, all my life I had spent it taking care of my family so I decided to enroll in the Medical Billing Coding Program and so far I am doing great.
Jennifer has encouraged me to strive for the goals that I seek for myself and my boyfriend has been a big supporter to as I am being a big supporter to him to and the biggest supporter I have right now would be my son who I raised all by myself. Right now, while attending school I am caring for my mom and being supportive to my son who is also in college and yes I am one proud mother.
Those thinking about attending school DeVry has some great programs and wonderful student advisors that get you on the right path to a rewarding career. They also have wonderful professors that actual will take the time to sit down and actually explain the things to you and they use language you can understand. As a student of DeVry university I highly recommend this school not because of the programs but because the way you are treated from the very second you walk in the door. For the future students of DeVry University I wish you the best of luck in all of your adventures and remember keep reaching for the stars and reaching for the goals that may seem impossible but there is always that someone that believes in you out there. This school is a joke. I had so many issues while attending this school and even issues during graduation. First, the admissions person Nataska promised so many things which never happened. I had everything in mind that I wanted from a school and made sure before enrolling that it met everything I wanted. Of course, they will tell you what you want to hear in order to get your money. Too bad I didn't realize it until it was too late. I qualified for a $20,000 scholarship which was not completely used. I had plenty left yet I still ended up owing money out of pocket despite having this scholarship and student loans. Made no sense to me. I never found a job in my field after graduating and they do not prepare you well to gain decent employment despite graduating with a 4.0 GPA.
I attended a job fair once. Prior to the job fair they held a prep seminar. Nothing they taught us in the seminar happened in the job fair. The job fair was basically like a flea market with free giveaways. You stand in a line waiting to speak to someone who most just brush you away quickly because they seem miserable to be there. Others find students they know and just carry on conversations like they are friends while you wait on line. It was a waste of my time. It was a constant battle with my advisor the entire 2 yrs I was there. It's a shame because they have some great professors who till this day I keep in touch with but their methods of trying to get people to enroll is very deceiving. I'm left with a job not in my field of education and a 40K student loan debt. My advice is find a better school that isn't for profit because everyone gets enrolled no matter what as long as they can get money out of you. I wish I never attended this school.

Advisors manager contacted me and came up with a plan for me to be able to continue my education. I was successfully enrolled and have started 2 of my remaining 7 classes.
Original Review: Sept. 3, 2020
I started DeVry in the 2016 and was told that there was a chance that I could exhaust my federal funding before I completed school, but to not worry about that because they would be able to help me secure funding. I was told this the last time by my student service advisor Desiree back in 2017/18 on a recorded call. Here I am now with 101 credits and my funding has been exhausted. I was then told by my Student service advisor Arrisa to apply for private loans and scholarships. I was told to do this while I was taking my finals and wrapping up my current sessions. (The stress of finals and personal life made this extremely difficult). However, every place I applied said the same thing. THEY DO NOT WORK WITH DEVRY!
When I emailed Arrissa, She claimed that DeVry had been bought out and the contracts may have not been updated to show the change. She told me she had to reach out to her boss Jason to find out how to proceed. She also stated other students where in the same situation as me. Here it is now 9/3/2020 the first week of the next session and I cannot enroll because I cannot get funding because again NO ONE WANT TO FUND DEVRY! So basically I'm screwed because without a cosigner I cannot continue my education at DeVry. No one told me I would need a cosigner EVER. If I would have known this I would have never went to this school. I am 7 classes away from my bachelor's degree. THANKS A LOT FOR SCREWING ME AND PUTTING ME IN DEBT FOR NOTHING. I will be seeking legal counsel.

I started out with DeVry with no problems. I was passing all of my courses with flying colors. In fact I maintained a 4.0 GPA until my last class attended in which dropped it to a 3.8. I had issues with professors not responding but it never bothered me... Then I got sick. I had a major surgery in January of 2019 at the same time DeVry was requesting documents from the IRS that I needed to return along with documents to verify my identity (Had a name change) then in July I lost my unborn child.. I called and explained the situation and the Advisor told me that I should withdraw my classes to avoid my balance going up and once my documents are received I can apply for Aid to cover it. I thought everything was great, I WAS WRONG!
I called in roughly 10 times over a course of 6 months explaining I have not received documents from the IRS and I wasn't told that the deadline had passed until I received the documents and turned them in. Once that was told to me I was advised they could submit a case to see if funding could be received. Didn't hear back for months. They said "they tried to call me." They did not. So after speaking with 4-6 different advisors, one being "higher up" who lied and said she listened to the calls until I asked her what was said and she couldnt tell me so she said she only read the notes.... I was told to submit a formal complaint (handled by devry of course).
ONE MONTH LATER after calling several times to check on it and even being told the Dean would CALL ME I get an email at 7:30 pm telling me I was advised properly. It read that the advisor told me I couldn't apply for loans until after the documents were received. WELL THAT WAS NOT MY CONCERN, I was never told I had 180 days to get the documents in or my grants will be owed and I would have to pay them to go back to school or get my transcripts. $3,888 I would have to pay because I trusted an Advisor to do their job. Then in order to appeal this I have to send another form to another DEVRY DEAN, the first one never read the appeal and I know because her response had NOTHING TO DO WITH MY PROBLEM.
I'm not rich, I have 2 kids, and I work full time... I busted my behind to get good grades and complete my degree. Devry does not care about any student. They are only concerned about the money. I will be leaving reviews EVERYWHERE, contacting the BBB, BBE, and the news if I have to. Currently I have 5 other devry students willing to join and put together their social media platforms so we can stop this from happening. Our lives/education can get ruined yet they are just able to walk away like nothing every happened.

DeVry can be good. I have taken a lot of classes there and am about to graduate. I have had some good professors and I've had some bad ones. In my experience there are numerous professors that seem to be doing this only for a check and have little interest in their students' success. I had one professor that wouldn't respond to my emails at all. I had another one who replied with smart ** comments rather than helping. I had another professor who just told you to read the chapter that you just finished reading. I took the problems to my student advisor and one time she decided to forward it to the dean. Well I haven't heard from the professor or the dean.
Another problem was the accounting class. The book was terrible at explaining and teaching the material and the professor wouldn't help explain it. I actually had to go to AccountingCoach.com to learn what I was paying DeVry to teach me because the book and the professor were worthless. I will warn you if you are planning on doing your homework on weekends, you should know that professors don't always stay on top of their email over the weekend so if you need help you may be out of luck. However, when this has happened the professor usually sees that you tried to reach them and they will give you another day to turn it in if you ask and they weren't able to help you in time.
Be warned though, I had a professor, under those same circumstances, ignore my email asking for help and then ignored my follow up email asking for help again and asking to turn it in a few hours after I get the help. I still haven't solved my problem with my current professor that is ignoring me, even including the dean in the problem.

First of all, do your research (look for what employers in your area are asking for) before choosing a certification route to make sure you pick the correct school/certification program to attend. It would have saved me a LOT of time and frustration if I had done this first. I would also like to mention that it costs a little over $18,000 (without any funding or grant money) and a full year of your time to complete the CCA certification program from DeVry, and another $2,000 and four months to complete the CCS certification program.
The CCA certification, as of 2020, is an unfortunately underwhelming certification to have, as it does not really encompass your ability to code, it’s more just a baseline that shows you are interested in being a medical coder. In other words, you would be spending $18k for a gold sticker from a university that wants even MORE money from you to complete the certification program to get the certification that holds actual value in the medical community.
That aside, DeVry in general was a nightmare to try and withdraw from once I realized I was not taking the right courses. I was bulldozed into doing some “additional research” over the weekend to make sure “I was making the right choice for myself” (like my student advisor, who I’ve been in contact with three times up to the point of asking to withdraw, knows me better than I know myself. *eyeroll*) because Jeff, the student advisor overseeing me, would literally not take no for an answer. He played it out like he was looking out for my best interests, but it’s VERY obvious his intentions were self motivated and nothing more, especially when I turned around and told him after doing my “additional research” that I would still NOT be attending the school.
I was met with a very short, terse email, the gist of which said “I will withdraw you from the program” and nothing more. I had to ask additional questions about refunds and when I would see my withdrawal reflected on my account, and was again met with a short email that did not answer them all. I still don’t actually have an answer. As far as my schedule goes, I’m still enrolled in all my courses, and I still owe the first terms amount of money, even though I have apparently been withdrawn within the drop period and am entitled to a full refund.
Additionally, as many others here have mentioned, DeVry is a for profit school and was/is currently dealing with several lawsuits, starting as early as 2008 and seeing no end in sight, as there are new and active lawsuits having been filed LAST YEAR. Almost every suit has been filed for false advertising and fund misuse, all from students who had similarly poor experiences with DeVry but couldn’t get out until they were in copious amounts of debt. Please, I urge you to do your research on them before being sucked into a conversation with a student advisor from the university. There are plenty of other non profit universities that offer great programs and great support for far less money and scandal. I highly recommend looking into one of those first, before you dip your toe or your wallet into the cesspool that is DeVry.
We appreciate you bringing your recent experience to our attention and would like to help resolve the concerns regarding your withdrawal. Please look out for a private message from us regarding next steps on how we can help.

Do not get the wrong impression about DeVry. The truth in my case, I enjoyed all my classes and my instructors and I excelled in my classes with honors. It was a joy to learn. Online that is. Those of us who did attend online were discriminated against and treated differently come graduation. I was not told in advance that I would not qualify for honors cords until the day of graduation when I asked for them. Throughout the years there was numerous letters sent about making the honors. I was not selected for placement opportunities or asked if I needed placements if there were any and literally I was hung out there to be on my own. I reached out to DeVry for help. Instead of them reaching out to me I received a few emails showing jobs not related to my degree.

I already hate that I pay tuition to a college for online classes where I teach myself information that is already free to the public. I use my own lights, my own Wi-Fi, and my own computer. My experience with the staff at DeVry was usually very professional and helpful. There were times though when some useful information was twisted or left out, and sometimes I'd get a different answer each time I'd speak with someone. The instructors for the Medical Billing and Coding program were typically good but do your own research on the instructors available for each class and request the best choice if able. Professor ** was the best I had for two of my classes. Some instructors here though are ridiculous and seem to not care about the students or their success. For how much this program costs I was very disappointed with two instructors who were flat out horrible.
Aside from the few somewhat expected let-downs, my overall experience was good. Most instructors have wonderful due date schedules for each week that aren't too demanding, everything was online, and DeVry changed a couple policies in the middle of my time there that made discussion topics MUCH more flexible and user friendly. I would recommend this school but I'd also remind whoever I recommend it to, to use their own head and judgment, ask every question possible, and go into each class cautiously.

I have been to a few different schools and only completed an Associate's Degree. I was very excited to finally pursue schooling that would help my career. My excitement turned to disappointment and frustration by my 3rd class at DeVry. It is one thing to be expected to learn exclusively from a textbook, but to have instructors that are only able to read from a script and unable to explain the material makes learning near impossible. Each class followed a similar weekly format. One part was an hour-long lecture. This lecture was always a PowerPoint that instructors simply read from. I believe they were made from standardized material. It did not always seem like the instructor even understood what they were reciting. One instructor could not pronounce any of the medical terminology on the slides throughout the course.
Most of the learning was expected to come from reading the textbooks. Other than the lecture, the only correspondence with the instructor was if students initiated through email. I quickly came to the conclusion that while the instructors might be good people, they were ill-equipped to teach so many students with the resources they had. The assignments every week came from standardized course design and so instructors had little control. This meant that grading was also standardized and instructors could not always explain the answers. The final review course did not even provide the answers to the graded assignments for fear of plagiarism.
About halfway through the past year, an instructor advised that I should email the dean of the department for the correct answer to an assignment because they could not explain it. The explanation I got was that the answer was simply the answer and then he stopped responding. This is when I gave up on DeVry. Now it might seem like I'm a bitter failing student, but that is only half correct. I have maintained a 4.0 throughout the curriculum (although that does not include the final review course that concludes this week). However, I am keenly aware that my grades do not accurately reflect my knowledge. I am especially nervous to sit for the national certification exam without the availability of a computer. Not only has DeVry done a horrible job of imparting knowledge, but they have also forced reliance on the internet. I am going to have to do a lot more all on my own in order to pass the certification exam.
If I could choose to do this over I would. DeVry seemed attractive because of the fancy marketing material and attention from their sales team, but the actual product is an expensive dud. In hindsight, working less in order to fit in live courses at a nonprofit school would have been worth it. I had originally assumed DeVry was doing its best. Now I believe they follow a business model that isn't too dissimilar from any other greedy business. They push for greater and greater profit margins until consumers take notice and stop buying. I really hope consumers take notice soon.

Because of credits and it was cheaper to just go back to DeVry I decided to go back online there. It has been ok overall. You get what you put in. If you are going to float thru well then you could pass but you won’t learn much. If you actually do the work you will learn things that can help you.
Going back to school later in life was an adjustment. Someone at my age came back to learn and do the work where some younger people are just going through the motions and don’t really care (this is 1 of the reasons I think they should do away with group projects online). The teachers overall were ok. What makes it all even worse is the fact that many of the instructors are too busy to reply to major concerns sent via email or through their awful Canvas platform. Concerns about grading are not addressed until you are mid-session. I have had to withdraw from 3 courses due to absentee instructors. And when I report these, the faculty manager just sends them emails saying "this student is having some issues with the course, could you reach out?" Cons: illiterate students admitted to program; plagiarism rampant; value of degree diminished by low standards; offshore tech support sometimes makes communication difficult; some course resources, questions, case studies, etc. reflect significantly outdated information; many students are in the program simply to achieve the degree and exert the minimum acceptable amount of effort; overemphasis on group projects is not real life;
If I have a non/underperformer in my company, I can address the issue by walking down the hall; (let's not fool ourselves - this is designed to make instructors' workloads manageable - if an instructor only has to grade six group project papers per week; rather than 40 - 50 individual papers, he can paid less. I have come across many schools in my day, yet I have never come across a school like Devry University. What sets Devry different from other schools is it's learning environment, faculty, and resources. When it comes to the learning environment, I can definitely say that small class room sizes are the best. Far exceeding the lecture hall massacre you see in other universities. There are many locations throughout the United States. So if there was ever a need to move to a new location, you can feel rest assured Devry University will be able to accommodate most relocations. It's online environments are great, except for Math courses. I do not recommend taking an online course with math as graphing, having an area to show your work is not present. This is very much needed when looking for what areas you need improving on. Never-the-less I recommend the learning environment to anyone.
The faculty is superb, I cannot stress the importance of having a professor who has been in the field for several years can be to a student. I have been to many Universities in the Chicagoland area and no other University does this. Sure other schools have professors with credentials and qualifications, but not like the ones here. Devry University brings people with extensive work experience which no other school has done this far. Take a look at the University of Illinois for example; in which they hire their own students to teach as professors. Ex. My Anthropology Professor from UoI. DeVry University has the professors you need to get a feel for the environment. All any student needs to do is ask questions and the professor will gladly show you the way.
My favorite part about DeVry University is the resources it provides. Anything you might need for your career, projects, personal projects; DeVry University has it. Need to practice building a pc? DeVry University has the resources to help you build as many as you like. Need a certain tool to perform a task? Sure, print any tool you like from the many types of 3D printers it holds (Makerbot, Prusa, etc). NO LIMIT TO HOW MUCH YOU CAN 3D PRINT!!! Need a PC to work on your assignments? DeVry offers PC all over the campus, just hop on one and enjoy. Need a much more powerful PC? They have that too (Even though I think 64gb of Ram is overboard). Want to work with VR environments?
DeVry also has a variety of programs for you to use. I cannot stress, the level of resourcefulness DeVry has; it is incredible. Overall, I would recommend DeVry to everyone. To me anyone who thinks differently, either did not utilize their resources, did not have a great relationship with the professors, or simply did not try. I think it is great, and anyone who is willing to learn should give it try.

I did my bachelor's degree in this same school. One thing that made me to do this review is because most of the teachers will go and extra mile just to see that the students are successful in their courses. For instance most of them try create a personal relationship with the students by giving out their phone number to them contact them in case they can't reach the teacher by email. There are times the teacher may not see the email immediately but when you call them you get them on the phone immediately and your problem will be resolve within 24 hours. Also most of the teachers are very patient with the student. I did experience all these while I was doing my undergraduate degree and I am still experiencing the same relation with my graduate program (Management). If they do offer a PHD program I will continue with them.
As far as their customer services is concern I will say they are extremely perfect. You don't have long wait on the phone to get an adviser. You are sure that your problem will be solve. All the academic advisers and the financial aid adviser are very friendly. They take your problems to be their problem and will do everything possible to resolve your problem. If they promised to follow up, know that they will follow up with you as promised. There is a continuity in their calls, in that it doesn't matter who you get on the phone they will picked from the last time you call that department and the reason for which you called. This makes it easier for your problem to be resolve without any waste of time. I have never regret been a student in this school. I am a proud student Devry/Keller Graduate School of Management.

My schedule is very tricky because I work 50 hours (mandatory) a week. I have two children and a husband at home. There are a lot of things that stop me from being able to attend campus classes. I like that Devry not only offers online courses, but they do have campuses as well that are available if you can fit it in. Their graduation ceremony can be attended by both online and campus students. The professors are very knowledgeable. There are some things that they need to fix with their online environment. Some of the instructions are not clear, and participation is lax. It would seriously help if all students would participate or be removed from groups, but that relies on school policies. Overall, I have had a great experience with financial aid, and I also feel like I am learning what I need to learn for my business degree. Support is always available and tutoring services are great.

I do not normally write reviews but as my experience at DeVry has been so disappointing, I felt the need to write this review to deter anyone else from making my mistake. This is the first school I have been in that is simply money orientated. They have made multiple errors: the departments clearly do not communicate so when you think you have resolved something you end up repeating yourself all over again leading to inconvenient holds on your account. The classes are a joke, I thought I was back in high school because that is the level they work at. Correction, high school was more difficult than this school.
If you're paying over $4,000 every 8 weeks I actually would like to learn something. I'm not just doing this for a piece of paper; if I were, I would have chosen a cheaper school. Most of their core classes are online which no one tells you when you register; yet, they still charge you the amount as an onsite class. Why would a school put the most difficult classes online I do not know. So many students have complained that their grades are low and that they have struggled greatly because the online classes are poorly formatted or they cannot reach their teachers. Please, I urge you to really reconsider if you have thought about applying here. I cannot wait to transfer out! Go somewhere else. There are other schools for the same price with a better education.

I have to say, I was a bit skeptical of the 8 week semester block style at first but after being medically retired from the US Army I was looking for something to fulfill my time and advance my education to begin a new career field and I feel like I hit a home run with DeVry. It's 8 week courses which allow you to go at a little faster pace and get through quickly but they still do a very good job of making sure you get all the information required and are actually learning. Most professors had at least their master's with, the majority having a PhD which is impressive to know that I'm being taught by some pretty knowledgeable people. Even if the classes seem to move a little fast there is tutoring available whenever it works for you for help with anything. So it really assures you that you'll LEARN the information rather than just pass a class. Very impressed so far. I am 68 hours in and love it.

As a student in need of academic accommodations, I tried emailing and calling the Office of Student Disability Services at DeVry University. However, the phone number provided by advisers and in the syllabus is invalid and all emails sent were returned as undeliverable. It took more than 2 weeks, numerous calls to advisors, and the assistance of 2 different deans and the assistant director of student central before I was able to get assistance. Once I got my academic accommodations approved I was sent a notice of approval and my professor was sent one which was different than what I received.
Mind you, my request was approved 2 days prior to my class ending and although the professor told the dean she would allow me to submit my missing assignment once my accommodations were approved, she still refused to allow it. So now at the last day of class I still cannot submit an assignment from week 4 because of DeVry's negligence and my professors refusal to abide by my accommodations. In addition, my professor's policy on extensions states that any medical reason must be documented. So I had to give her my personal medical information even though I'm protected under the ADA. I am attending DeVry University online. I am in my final year, and was told I need about $13,000 dollars to finish my degree out of pocket. I was able to apply for a Sallie Mae loan. I wanted about $40,000 to live off the extra, and pay bills, etc. DeVry said the max I could take out from Sallie Mae was $19,500, and I would receive the rest of the money as a credit back to me. Little did I know, I still had Pell Grant money, and Federal Perkins loans that were added to my financial aid. Sallie Mae accepted the $19,500 that DEVRY had changed. I did not change the amount, DEVRY did. DeVry had told me that everything was okay, and that $6,500 dollars would disburse three different times from July 2017 to October 2017. My last disbursement was in October 2017 in the amount of $6,500. I also received Pell Grant money, and the Federal Perkins loan.
Within the past few months, I have received four different e-mails saying that my financial awards have changed. Now, I do have to say that I was taking one class at a time, until I was told I could receive more financial aid if I took two classes at a time from July 2017 to December 2017, and I would be finished with my degree (at this point I had 6 classes left). I was told that they looked into the class schedule and everything would work out, and I could take two classes at a time to receive more student aid, and finish my bachelor's degree in December 2017. My July 2017 classes were right on schedule, and I was taking the two classes at one time as promised. My next semester starts (about five weeks ago from 11/24/17), and I was told my time status is now being dropped from 3/4 time to 1/2 time because the two classes I was promised I could take at the same time are no longer available.
I am not taking one class at a time, and now my Bachelor's degree will not be done until February 2018. This is not what I was promised, I was promised my Bachelor's degree would be completed in December 2017. I received a credit balance back of about $8,500 dollars from the final disbursement of the Sallie Mae loan, and the federal loan. I received a call from my student advisor in the next week stating that I owed DeVry $8,821 dollars. He said DeVry overpaid me my financial aid, and I owe them the money. I told him I did not have the money, as I received the credit, and used up most of it on medical bills, and debt that I had owed to people and businesses due to what I had to buy for school. DeVry told me that the money would not be going back onto the Sallie Mae loan, or back onto the federal loans, but that I just owed DeVry that money.
My financial aid awards showed the correct amount of what money was dispersed from Sallie Mae and the federal loans, until the new financial aid award came in the middle of November 2017. This new financial aid statement said that the private loan was only $10,526, and that was it. Sallie Mae approved a $19,500 dollar private loan because of what DeVry had told them. DeVry told Sallie Mae that $19,500 was the max that could be taken out. Now, I am not going to pay on my student loans twice, meaning I am not giving DeVry the money they "say I owe", and cannot even give me a good explanation as to why. I am not going to give DeVry the money, and then still owe money on the Sallie Mae loan. If I truly owe money to Sallie Mae or the federal loans, they can contact me directly. I have contacted the federal trade commission about this as well.
I was promised that everything was going to be okay, and promised that I could take two classes until I graduated in December. This is an issue because if I was 3/4 time this semester, I do not believe there would have been an issue. I was also told by my advisor that if I was to take another class on top of my last class, I could keep the credit money (which does not make sense). The advisor told me I would have to pay the tuition for the one class, which is about $1,922, but I could not do that because it would start another degree. I believe that DeVry University is trying to pull extortion onto the students that are close to graduating. I know I am not the only one out there with this complaint.
The money that DeVry states I owe them, is something they did! DeVry stated that I could keep the extra funds while taking two classes at a time, and DEVRY are the ones who changed my Sallie Mae loan to the amount they did. I had no control over the finance department, that was their job. I do not control their finance department, nor do I state how much money I am going to get back. It is not right that DeVry changed my student finance awards four times since an agreement was made on my account of the classes I could take.
I was promised I could take two classes at a time and be done in December, but now I have to wait until February, and I might not even be able to finish my degree and become an attorney like I want because of this mess! DeVry should have known way ahead of time how much money I needed to complete my degree, and not wait until the last minute! I have warned DeVry I will contact an attorney, if needed. I do have a few attorneys to call and speak with, as this wouldn't be the first lawsuit they have had.

I don't recommend using Devry for online classes (Career Development). It is the highest cost per credit. If you have technical issues with school labs or any other online systems that are requirement for your class work, not in your own control meaning it’s not your own error those assignments you are given a zero. I spent the whole 4 weeks of the class trying to get the issue resolved. I spent time with IT and Prof. of the class up to the last day and still couldn't get access to do my assignments. I got a D.
I can't submit to my company and the school said, “No”. I am stuck with the grade, $1,200 for a glorified resume career class. As of today I am no longer a student at Devry. I will enroll at another college, finish my degree elsewhere. I may be only person so the school probably doesn't care that I leave. Social media and filing a complaint plus informing the 15,000 co-workers at my company of my experience is justice. This was really beyond my control. I have emails to back up my claim.

I know more about Microsoft Office than I did when I started. The professors are there for you to help and push you in the right direction. With my schedule, it is great that I was able to work in my classes on my own time but having the first post in each class before Wednesday made things interesting. I also found that working in the classes early in the week is the best way to go. This way you are rushing or struggling close to the end of the week. If I decide to go back for my Masters, this will be the college I will go with. It has been great and took less time than what it would have at another college. I know this to be a fact. I was going to University of Phoenix and transferred to DeVry and got my degree in a shorter time frame. It was the best choice that I have made in a very long time.
I also found new friends and other people that I can relate to. The classes and groups make DeVry a great college because the software that is used and depending on what degree you are going for, is all up to date. DeVry teaches the students how to use the technology that is used in today's workforce. This gives the student a better chance at landing that career that they have in mind or what they want to do after they have completed the entire courses for the degree that they are going after. I already have what I want to do lined up after completing my degree. I am thinking about enrolling into the Master's program but I have not made my mind up about that as of yet. If I do make that choice, DeVry will be the college I go with.

Where do I start... Their education is sub-par, there have been very few teachers that were good (I can think of two out of about 100). I remember my programming class was taught by a teacher that had learned the language the previous semester, and one of the students was a business teacher that was then teaching his business students the following term. I had a teacher who called himself "Jim **" (year 1999) and claimed to be a member of the Kraft cheese family and that he was only teaching "to give back"... I heard from students later that he was a fake and was fired (I haven't bothered to substantiate any of those claims, but it makes sense to me given he let us grade our own tests & quizzes).
Now my Advanced Oracle DB teacher was great... But that's the only teacher that really stands out for me. My Linux teacher (year 2004) talked more about his time in the military in Argentina than anything else and I needed to research the material myself and help other students in lab because his instruction and materials (software) didn't work. Their financial aid departments offer "scholarships" which is their term for giving you a slight discount if you sign up for a full load, which is NOT a scholarship.
Their transcript evaluation department would not give me credit for my Sr. project that I had taken years earlier, and their excuse was "it's too old" when they gave me credit for classes that were older (eventually I got credit for this class but it took months of back and forth). Their job placement services are just as incompetent. When I tried to sign up with them they were showing me leads that were over 10 year old, then when that got fixed they were showing me jobs that weren't in my major.
When you call a specific location they will route you to another location so you're never quite sure where you're calling. Any significant decision needs to get filtered through their corporate office in Illinois, which makes the whole process excruciatingly difficult. I have been going to DeVry on and off for about 17 years (due to taking many years in between to work in industry) and have seen departments get eliminated and moved to corporate causing countless hours of frustration for me trying to get simple questions answered.
If you like spending hours and hours on the phone with people who will constantly misunderstand you and who are not capable of helping you DeVry is for you. If you like overpaying for an education that will not allow you to compete with other job applicants competing for the same jobs, DeVry is for you. Do yourself a favor and pick a state college, you'll pay less and get a superior education.

DeVry University was my way out. I was at different Jr colleges and just had no motivation. Then I found DeVry. I wasn't a believer with online classes, but now I am. A year back, I had some personal issues going on and I had to drop my classes. Unfortunately, I didn't withdraw correctly and it basically was pointed against me. After getting everything back on track, I reapplied, but was told I had too many absences and so forth. Thinking that I missed a great opportunity, a woman named Amanda **, helped me get back on track. I sent the Dean of DeVry a written explanation, with proof, of how crazy my life had gotten and ask for another try at school. Usually they don't give second chances, but I guess they saw something in me. Amanda somehow convinced the Dean to give me another chance. That was when I knew, I had to stay ambitious and motivated through each class.
After getting the OKAY, another consoler named Brandon ** was also helpful. He was there to help me step by step of how to get reapplied for classes, the information I needed to fill out online documents, the works. Working with my busy schedule, we were able to get all the needed information in within 72 hours. He literally bent over backward for me. I owe them my degree for all that they have done for me. I can't help but thank DeVry for everything. Instead of going to college for 4 years, I can get my degree in half the time. Sure it's all online and the classes are very quick, but for me being a scatterbrain, it keeps me on track. There are no shortcuts; it’s straight to the point. I would highly recommend DeVry for people with busy schedules and want to better themselves. It's helping me get one step closer to becoming a Police Officer, and have a better and stress-free life for myself. This is from the heart. I meant every word I said.

Active Military, Reservists, and Veterans utilizing VA benefits... The main issue is how late the certification is submitted, causing delay not only on the Tuition (5th Week is too long, unlike community colleges, within the beginning of the first week of the term, the tuition is already paid by the VA). But the utmost concern is the housing allowance, as some current and former military rely on this to sometimes if not most of the time help them to meet financial shortages. I've emphasized 2 weeks prior to start of the term and numerous e-mails of my concern that the certification needs to be submitted, not even a veteran or military specialist at DeVry was able to help.
Because the housing allowance did not come in and delay of tuition by the 5th week, I've been hit with so many bank insufficient funds beyond more than what I can catch up now with my budgeted living expenses. It's also very hard for us military to be always concerned that there is a balance due because tuition assistance doesn't come in till the 5th week. This causes a lot of stress, it has severely affected my sleep patterns and my work performance at my job. Everytime I would try to initiate my lessons, all I could think of was the balance hanging over my head. This is highly unusual for the past 2 years at community college, I never had this much stress affecting me because right on the beginning of the 1st week of each and every term, the school already was paid on the tuition, and I too have received my housing allowance to cover my living expenses and anything else I'm short on for school expenses.
I'm currently debating whether or not I should even continue to the November term after all the financial stress DeVry has caused me for incompetent Administrative personnel causing delay of my VA tuition and housing allowance benefits, severely affecting me with heavy stress, poor work performance, and just unable to function normally as a student when I have this financial burden caused unto me and affecting my classes, my GPA, getting dropped on one class, and unable to concentrate on the remaining class causing me to fail. Hybrid and campus classes should not be heavily reliant on doing assignments and lectures online, we are losing the traditional learning for those that are more comfortable in a campus class, activities, lectures, and assignments.
Online should be available for further resources, but not to be required heavily for student participation. Back in 1997 when DeVry was still a great school, there were professors who gives lectures as well as hands-on technology and computer terminals as well as hardware right there in the classroom. I highly praised DeVry and my PSCYCHOLOGY 101 class back then as I had learned more from that Professor in 2 weeks than any professors I've met after him to the present time. Now, DeVry has chosen to just have professors talk, write on the board and hopefully students take notes. THIS NO LONGER CONNECTS THE PROFESSORS TO THEIR STUDENTS, instead it's no longer interactive, no longer personal, no immediate professor who you can raise your hand to and ask for assistance or guidance, instead students are forced to do research online, use online school softwares.
I THINK DEVRY SHOULD JUST REPLACE PROFESSORS WITH ROBOTS AND COMPUTERS. Gone are the professors of old who are able to awaken a student’s mind, instead they are lectured in campus if available sometimes not as solid a lecture as expected, even with that, there isn't much hands-on in campuses now compared to my first time in DeVry back in 1997 with CIS courses. Now they just keep pushing for online, as if all the learning a student can get is now solely from online. If that was the case then DeVry should just be strictly online and no longer campus, because it has changed so much. Do not have your professors force students to find everything and do everything online, not very many find that as educational. We’re all different individuals, and a school can't just stereotype every student and expect them to learn online more than from traditional lectures, activities, and campus assignments.

I attended DeVry back in 2010 to 2014. I took hybrid of both in class and online classes. The initial classes or level 100 classes were actual classes and they actually teach you by lesson by lesson and you feel you are getting one on one help. Then when you go up the 200-500 level classes then they stop teaching and classes are totally FAKE. They use outdated textbooks and programs. The instructors barely speak proper English and they don't know the subject they are teaching and are learning as they are teaching the students in 2 months period while getting paid for it. The assignments, exams, and, projects are copy and paste since, they don't change their curriculum, so you could find answer keys by simple google search.
The career services are complete joke. They say they commit 6 months in job placement but, what they really do is randomly call bi weekly asking if you got hired yet and if they can help with mock interviews/resume help. Then after 6 months they will drop you and your history to them even if you never get hired anywhere. The graduation/alumni benefits are also another joke. Life insurance and health insurance savings, retail discounts and tuition discount. Read the small print and you will see why it is a complete ripoff joke. DeVry university overall is a diploma mill scam. Please do not attend there.

So, for me, I have already graduated with an AAS from ITT. Yes, I know, that was a mistake and waste of money. Regardless, I wanted to get a BS from a current and accredited university. I wanted to do it online as well. So I sent an app to Devry seeing as they have regional and ABET accreditation. They tell me I can complete the degree all online, on my own schedule. Sounds great right? Well the recruiter, pressured me through the process, saying that he wanted a commitment that I would go there before they reviewed my transcripts for what would transfer over. So there's that.
I get enrolled and go through all the steps to start class in the next 2 weeks. I do my financial aid consultation for what I have left and how the year, September 2017 to May 2018, will get financed. They advised me I wouldn't have to pay anything with what I had in Financial Aid the first semester, but a small balance the second semester. I was fine with it. The time goes by, classes start, and my financial aid still isn't ironed out. I called and spoke with about 6 different advisors, got up the totem pole to one of the assistant student central directors. Because at this point, the aid they applied for and what's on my account doesn't match what was discussed and sent to me in writing. I talk to them all, I get the runaround. A couple told me due to federal regulations it had to be dispersed a certain way and what I was told and agreed to was just an estimate.
So now I have a balance to pay the first and second semester when I was initially supposed to be credited a balance of about $900 the first semester. At this point I'm livid, and believe this is another scam school. So I start saying I'm going to report them and they lied to me. So the student director gets on the phone, along with one of their higher up financial aid reps. I'm told that it was a mistake and what I was told about federal regulations was a misunderstanding and that I'll get the initial financial aid plan that was discussed and agreed upon, plus a grant for the second semester on $1,350 to cover and balance in spring. Now does that sound fishy to you? Because it sure does to me.
Mind you, I've been abstaining from class the entire first week until Friday just in case I had to withdraw, so these crooks wouldn't be able to charge me a cent, assignments are due by Sunday too by the way. I said I wanted it all in writing and a guarantee it was going to be how it should be. They send me an email, give me their assurances, etc. So I begin classes and work my butt off to try and catch up so I don't fall behind and lose points for late work. Unfortunately I couldn't catch up on their ridiculous Critical Thinking and Problem Solving class because it was writing intensive and my other class was Math which took up a lot of time.
So it's now week two, I'm caught up in Math, only said hi and my name in a discussion forum for the other. I'm behind, I have a family, job, and life outside of this, so I decide to drop the class. I spoke with financial aid to go over my funding, which still has yet to be applied, and go over how the drop would affect my aid. Only thing I'm getting is Pell and Direct Loans, so realistically me withdrawing from the one class for the session only decreases my Pell and I'm considered a 3/4ths time student. I'm told my loans will stay the same, and I will be refunded for the tuition charge for that class... Minus 20%. I about lose it on the financial aid lady, she tells me it's because it's the second week and that's the percentage. I proceed to tell her that I have done nothing in that class, no assignments, because Devry couldn't get my financial plan worked out correctly.
She then looks over it and mentioned the discussion forum I "participated" in on September 1st. I told her it was just an introduction of me saying hi and my name, that's literally it. She says it counts as participation, but since I didn't do anything or log into the course since, that they can withdraw me for only a 10% cost for 1st week drop. It was a 3 credit hour course at $487.20/credit hour. Do the math, me saying my name and "Hi", cost me $200 if you include their non-refundable administrative charge. I almost didn't agree until she said if I wait it goes up to 75% total course cost to withdraw in week 3, and that was only a couple days away. So I just said ok, I disagree, but withdraw me because I'm not going to be playing catch-up and get a worse grade for some ridiculous class because of what was originally Devry’s mistake and hold up.
Now it's the end of week 3. The class was finally removed and I see a credit of $1,270 on my statement. My financial aid is still not where it was agreed it should be at, though, and I'm waiting for them to apply for disbursement of my loans. That is, IF they do what they say they would. This place will end up no better than ITT or any of the other for profits. Then again, DeVos is in office and seems to be allowing these predatory colleges free reign to milk the economy and taxpayers dry. As far as I'm concerned, they've lied multiple times about the aid, with multiple reps giving multiple versions of what type of aid I was getting. Contradicting what the other would say. Now I'm relegated to deal only with the one higher up aid rep, because she "knows what's going on", so I'm told. I'm not to speak with any other financial aid rep.
This college is a joke, the online program is a joke from all I've seen to date. I don't know how they achieved regional or ABET accreditation. What I do know, is that they have been deceitful, unforthcoming, and seemingly unknowledgeable about procedures. Oh and by the way, they barely accepted 1/3rd of my ITT credits, even though it's an almost exact program match with class overlap. Don't be fooled, they don't care about you, they care about getting your money, that's why they're FOR PROFIT.
They might talk nice and ask about your future, but it's all a rouse to get you in. Then they can charge you a couple hundred to say hi in a class, or backtrack on what was agreed upon for your finances. Unless of course you call them out on their mistakes and talk with multiple reps whom all contradict one another, then you can get a Devry grant to appease you and keep your mouth closed on their mistake. I was stupid to even consider going here after going to the now defunct ITT from 2011 to 2013. Oh and don't forget about their $100 million dollar fine they had to pay out last year in 2016 for defrauding and making false claims to students, giving incentives to admission reps for getting people in there.

I received a B.S in Technical Management from DeVry and attended Keller Graduate immediately afterward. My experience was fairly good throughout, until I was 3 classes away from graduating again. I didn't know DeVry was facing a class action lawsuit and closing some of their campuses. I was part of the suit, and have received a check. Anyways, long story short: DeVry allows students to retake failed and withdrawn courses up to 3 times. I needed to retake 2 of my last 3 courses, and was approved by the campus Dean. Then... the week classes begin, headquarters emails me that I am dismissed because those 2 classes dropped my GPA below 3.0
I transferred schools to finish my degree with Strayer and they took very few of my credits. I spend another $40,000 with Strayer all because DeVry would not let me retake courses as agreed upon. This school is outrageous after they get nearly $50,000 of your loan money. Absurd! They have done this to other students that eventually would fall short of their financial aid.

Bad "Teaching" and Theft. I have been in Devry University for over a year now for Medical Coding and Billing. The teachers don't teach, they just have you copy and paste information from the books that they don't actually teach from. It's very much a "read this, parrot this back" kind of school. I am just weeks from Graduation and I am no more ready now to enter the field than I was in May 2016, when I started. I have had to correct test results for my teachers, they'd mark me wrong and I'd have to point out that it was actually a correct answer, then they'd change my grade. They're just sorry. But this isn't the biggest gripe with them, no, there's more.
In May of this year, they told me that my Federal Aid paid too much for tuition, this is supposed to kick back as a credit to me, right? No, they said they sent back $317 to the loaner. So because of them sending back my "overpay", books that I purchased for $275 in May were not covered. Had they credited my account as they should have, my books would have been covered. So this left me with a balance of $275. They assured me that when my Financial Aid dispersed in July the balance would be covered and that it would also leave me a nice credit as well.
Jump forward to July, my financial aid is set to disperse and the numbers on my account are jumping around like jumping beans. I have been on the phone with someone different every day for two weeks. First my $275 balance jumped to $580 for no visible reason. Then they told me that it was because they had to send back the $317 in May. So I'm paying for them sending back funds? They say "Oh, no, it's not like that." But if it's coming out of my credit kickback, it's me paying for it, right? Why am I covering a Federal Aid return anyway? So then it jumps to a $600+ balance on my account. Why? Where did this sudden increase come from? There is no explanation this time. I am just simply assured that my credit will come through for the amount I am seeing right then, which was a great credit.
This morning, I wake up to almost the entirety of my credit gone. Just wiped away. I call in and they tell me it's because over $900 of my May session wasn't covered by Federal Aid. So they had to take that from my July Aid. Over $900 that has NEVER, not ONCE been shown or mentioned until today. And if Aid didn't cover the $900+ in May, why did they send back the $317 "for overpay"? Where is this money going? Where are they getting these numbers? They're stealing our money. But because they have control of the numbers that go into and get changed around in the system, they can get away with it. They know that they have high paid lawyers to back them, they can lie about whatever they want and get away with it. I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH, DO NOT GO TO THIS SCHOOL!!!

When I initially made the decision to go back to school, it had already been 11 years since I graduated from high school. I spoke with many admissions reps from a plethora of schools and found that Devry offered everything I was looking for. In fact the enrollment including financial aid was literally laid out on a platter for me, requiring very little work on my part. Not to mention within only 2 weeks I was ready to start my first class. Throughout my degree, I had a coaching advisor that I would communicate with regularly; about anything school related to even my personal life.
Professors were absolutely amazing, thorough, and prompt. Since I have graduated I have received very nice job offers and still work closely with a career advisor; as that is just another benefit Devry offers once you complete your degree program. During my program I also received scholarships from Devry that helped finance my education without having to pay it back. I would definitely recommend an online program to anyone trying to juggle work, children, and life as well as pursuing an education. I got my financial aid package from them, seemed way overpriced, especially compared to the community college. I asked her when registration started and she said, "oh, not for a long time". That is all I needed, you to communicate that to me so we could close your application, instead of me working on your application, and asking you all these weeks about registration, when there was no need to. It could have saved us both time looking for you and you having to get all these calls and questions about it. I will close your application today. We wish you all the best at NVCC. I am a 1994 BSEET grad from the DeVry Phoenix campus and I am a multiple 6 figure earner. My career has been dynamic and prosperous and my DeVry education has helped me to effectively fill a number of very challenging technical, managerial, and executive roles with some of the world's premier companies serving many other of the world's premier companies as clients across many industries. An interesting demographic from my graduating class is that I am one of several who have performed at or above my current professional level and income.
My undergraduate career spanned 11 years, included 7 different majors, while attending a series of 7 different colleges or universities. After selling my company I decided to change from studying Economics to studying Engineering. At that time DeVry offered me the most direct path and the shortest time investment to completing a BS in and Engineering field of study. I transferred from a state university to DeVry. The program was challenging and the professors very knowledgeable and helpful. The direct degree program approach was much less cumbersome to navigate than the auditorium registration/multiple contingency course method that the traditional state and private schools I had attended. Online registration has dealt with much of this challenge though according to my son, niece, and nephews course availability remains a significant issue in traditional public and private universities.
In my experience this is not an issue at DeVry. 90% of my graduating class received multiple offers of employment prior to graduation with high quality employers. As DeVry is a regionally accredited university I have never had an employer or client question the validity of my degree. In my experience and for working and very focused students DeVry is a good option for completing studies towards an undergraduate degree. I find that the quality of writing capability among the majority of those who claim to have difficulty finding employment following the completion of a DeVry degree to be very telling and likely very contributory to the difficulty they have in finding a job. Many do not know the accurate name for the degree that they hold.
A degree is a qualification. It can help significantly in finding a job but it is not the key to long term successful employment. Performance and growth are what employers want from their employees. They are looking for evidence of performance capability during interviews. Qualifications get the interview, performance during the interview lands the job, performance on the job creates a successful career. In addition to completing a degree many people could benefit from investing in developing their communication and interview skills. There are organizations that can help. Toastmasters is one. There are many providers of interview skills training, life skills coaching, and leadership skills training that can be accessed to improve interview skills and performance. Don't blame the school. Investigate what is preventing success and improve on that characteristic. Good luck.

I joined DeVry back in 2013 and was extremely happy and hopeful that I would get my degree in Healthcare business. Sadly in June 1st of 2014 a week after the new class session started, my Mother lost her battle with breast cancer and I just couldn't keep my head busy with school anymore. I contacted both my professor and my counselor for help, on dropping out because I was grieving for my mother. Both sent me a withdrawal form which I filled out and quickly sent back before my Mother's funeral on June 5th.
I made sure to ask both they had received it and ask if there was anything else I needed and I was going to have any charges pending, to which I was told that everything was going to balanced out and most likely a charge of about $300 plus would be pending, but I would be billed and have time to pay it off. I was asked if I had plans to continue with my education. I remember mentioning that I did, but at the current moment I was not sure when or if I was in the best shape to answer that question.
Fast forward, a year, and I started to get collection calls saying I owed DeVry $1,500! I called DeVry and was told that the charges were for dropping out during the middle of a class session and for not giving notice. Apparently the forms I filled out withdrawing were never turned in and I was officially dropped out of the class 10 days later and dropped from the school 10 days after that! making it seem like I did nothing by decide to not attend school anymore. So, my efforts to making sure I did all that was needed was useless and the forms I filled out, mysteriously disappeared because they were never turned in and they have no recollection that they ever sent them to me or I, to them.
I have spent countless hours on the phone with these people and no one seems to know who my counselor was, if my previous professor is still working there, and who I can speak to about this issue. Oh, but the harassing phone calls to my husband and I are constant! I can't even continue my education somewhere else because I can no longer get financial aid if I have a pending balance with another school and I'd have to start over from scratch. So thanks to DeVry I can't continue my education and I am stuck with an unfair $1500 bill which I can't pay, no financial aid to help start over and a lifetime of daily harassing calls. Did anyone know that they use students to work for DeVry to help them recruit more students? But half the time these student don't know what they are doing? No wonder no one knows what's going on with anything!

I can't believe an SSA contacted me 12/1/16 telling me I have a credit balance of nine hundred something dollars and that the school has to deduct three hundred something dollars for non institutional fees so Ill get the remaining six something hundred dollars. I see the negative six hundred something dollars but I still have the three hundred something dollar balance from last semester. I called like 7 weeks after I spoke with the SSA and whomever I spoke with said she didn't see the negative six hundred something dollars on my account. I was so pissed. She claimed she's going to find the SSA who told me about the credit balance and she will get back to me.
It's been another 2 weeks I haven't heard from anybody. I am mad I didn't ask the SSA what's the exact date I shall be receiving the credit balance but he did say in January when I get my credit balance pay my thirty dollar book fee. I see now they can keep a credit balance and use it for anything if you let them use your title IV for non institutional charges. So as of today it's a hundred something gone from the credit balance of the six hundred something I have been seeing. It's now five hundred something dollars. I am hoping my mistake was that I should've said "no do not use my title IV for non institutional charges." I just changed that last week and I hope that help me get my credit balance even though this is all so fishy and I would like to know where tf the little hundred something dollars went.
I'd hate to go filing complaints for misinformation because if I needed to say they can't use my title IV for non institutional charges someone could have been told me. I have been contacting financial aid via e-mail and they continue to ignore me. I believe they don't see the credit balance if someone else is planning to use it because like Everest they lied and lied and when I withdrew I seen on the exit notification they had a extra $13,000 on there that didn't go to me nor my education. I can't allow this to happen again because all of it is on my credit report in student loans. The lie was each time I withdrew they sent the funds back to the dept. Education. They lied so much to students the school closed. I see DeVry is getting sued for being too damn high and not helping with employment.

I have been enrolled in Devry for a few years now and the experience has been horrible. This coming from someone who graduated for ITT Tech with no issues and working in my field. I have had numerous issues with professors which I contacted the school about and never heard back from (almost a year ago). I've requested for changes which I never heard back from. They take all your money and don't care about the student at all. They have professors who discriminate against people. So in a nutshell you are paying to get treated like dirt and get ignored.

Despite bad reviews I decided to give them a chance. I received a transfer student scholarship due to my gpa. After a few classes, I was unable to login for 2 1/2 weeks on an 8 week course class. I called and called and none could help or figure out why I couldn't log in. I believe the scholarship was a scam. They removed the scholarship due to my "inactivity" and low grade in the class. Then I received a bill for 1500 dollars. I called the school again asking about my bill. They suggested I enroll another semester and the FAFSA would even out. This didn't happen at all, instead I was put on academic hold and received a bill for 3200. Now unless I pay this rip off bill I can't continue my education due to transcripts being held. I think they set the students up and be all nice and friendly on the phone and then scam them to get more profits.

I started taking classes through DeVry back in October of 2016, and finished October 2017 with the Medical Billing and Coding certificate program. I finished with a 4.0 GPA, but feel I would have been able to learn the material in my own. The price is outrageous. It is a for profit school, so you expect higher costs. You also expect to graduate feeling like you can find a job and that you have successfully learned a skill. I had at least three different "advisors" throughout the year. How can they guide me if I am being "tossed around" from one to another? I do not recommend this route to anyone for education. Find a better school.

I really appreciate the ease of the online library as well as the easy and constant communication with my professors.

So you know it is expected that immediately after high school, graduates should go straight to college, secure a profession, get married, and then have children. Well, I created my own order and did some college after high school, had two kids, got a career, got married, went back for my associate's degree, had another kids, and now working on my bachelor's and DeVry made it possible for me to get a Bachelor's Degree from the comfort of my own home while having a full time family and full time job. Having 8 week courses and the ability to be online, it is easier for me to complete classes and get my degree.

I started with Devry July 2016 and in September I withdrew from a class due and made a D in the other which brought my GPA lower. In July I was given or "awarded" a Devry Scholarship based on my GPA. Based on the Devry Guidelines your qualifications is based on an ANNUAL REVIEW. Not per session review or semester. No worries, RIGHT??? Wrong! I contacted Student Finance and it was confirmed it was annual just as I had read it...by 3 different student finance reps. However my account on their end stated my grant was being removed so they escalated my concern of the misrepresentation of the wording on their web page to their "scholarship committee".
A day later I receive a phone call from the rep who assisted me who stated that the "scholarship committee" said that in their "guidelines" that only they have privy to it states at "any time" if the student's GPA falls then the grant has to be removed and reviewed for qualification again at the annual review. WHAT?? SERIOUSLY?? I will be looking to transfer after this class!! What a bunch of con artists!!! I was lied to and apparently even their own financial advisers read the same I read! I applied and attended Devry despite the bad reviews because I believe everyone's experience is different. Clearly I have joined the "beware" poll!

Devry is going to end up just like ITT Tech that recently just lost its funding. It is only a matter of time. I was deceived by Devry University's deceptive advertising that aired on TV. I wanted to get a degree and I should have just went to an in-state college. I feel like I haven't learned anything from the college that I didn't already know.
I was originally enrolled in a Bachelors degree program for computer science. They wouldn't tell me how much the program would actually cost. They informed me that the program would be covered by grants due to my EFC amount, however this was not the case. After about six months I figured out on my own that they were taking out multiple loans on my account. I had to switch to an associates degree program with a major in Network Systems Administration in order to finish my schooling.
The level of teaching is more than subpar. The professors do not care about the students. I had to complain multiple times to the administration and the professors that they were not answering questions for reports and labs. I had students emailing me complaining with the professor, multiple email chains that we were unhappy. I actually ended up getting a credit because we complained so much that we forced them into the decision where they ended up only charging us for half the class. Then they had the nerve to say that I could take it again but I would have to pay!
I strongly encourage anyone that is thinking of enrolling to Devry University to not do so. You have been warned!!! You may get lucky and finish your degree, but the bottom line is they are a for profit college and all they care about is money. They are currently facing an FTC lawsuit and the CEO stepped down after receiving $5 million in 2015. Imagine that! I am filing a complaint for a borrower defense to repayment. I highly encourage any student that has been wrong by Devry University to do the same. Make this school pay for what they did to their students.

Devry complaint. In 2009 I had been out of high school for a year and wanted to start school. In high school I had done a few web development classes and was pretty good at it. Since I wanted to do something with computers I figured that would be the route to go. I called devry because I saw the commercial and spoke to one of the councilors aka salesman which I didn't know at the time. After talking with him he sold me on doing a computer networking degree. Said they have job placement after I graduate and median income was 90k a year starting.
I was ready to go, I spoke to them about financial aid and they said I was approved for 100% of the amount because of my father's income, never was told in depth what I was being billed nor was I explained that 100% financial aid didn't mean that covered 100% of their prices. To add insult to injury they even said there was money left over and sent me checks not realizing that they were dispersing loans first then the financial aid so I was adding to what I owed even though I didn't know I was getting into debt in the first place.
After 6 months I was working at Hilton and they had network and communication employees and I spoke to a few of them, told them I was told 90k a year and they laughed and said back in the day that was true but I would be lucky to make 40k and that the job demand was on a huge decline. I was furious and went home to do research and find out that it was true the jobs weren't there and neither was the money. I stopped my classes because I felt scammed and mislead. The person who was a counselor was a salesman. I was told inaccurate information so they can drain government and bank loans on my behalf.
Somehow 6 months of school racked me up a 9k bill. I was 18, just had a kid and didn't even know that these checks were leftover because they pushed through the bank money first. Maybe they did this to sell the point that I was having leftover money not realizing I would owe it all back. These for profit schools need to be regulated and make sure these kids fresh out of high school are not deceived like I was. Now it has accumulated interest and I owe 18k for 6 months of school for a degree to job that didn't exist. Crazy world we live in where these companies can get away with this.

After receiving no response, I finally called DeVry to find out why my transcript had not been released. The gal I spoke with could not figure out why. My account showed a $0 Balance, $0 Payment Due and $0 Past Due. Eventually, after being on the phone for approximately 25 minutes, she told me she would call me back. She called me a couple days later and told me the fees were associated with book fees from July 2015!
I explained that I only attended online and all of my books/materials were electronic. She said there are still fees for accessing the books through their portal. I told her I would not pay for "phantom fees" that I had not been made aware, known were being charged to my account nor ever billed for! I explained that according to my account, I had $0 past due payments and $0 balance. I told her that DeVry was "creating false charges" in an effort to prevent from my transferring to another college and coercing me into either completing my degree only with DeVry or to not complete my degree at all. I told her she needed to have the fees waived, and she stated she did not have the authority to do so. She stated she would have her supervisor, Josh, call me. That was weeks ago and I have not heard anything since. I sense a class action lawsuit may be in the future!

In May of 2009, DeVry did a presentation at my high school. They claimed I could earn a Bachelor's degree in half the time and for half the price. I originally wanted to get into medical or nursing school, but their admissions counselor talked me into a bachelor's in health services management, stating that if I ever wanted to run my own medical practice, I would need it. So I enrolled. They said my degree would cost about $25,000 and take 2 and a half years going part time. I signed up for federal loans and had a $1,000 scholarship through them. I was told I wouldn't have to pay anything, that my loans and scholarship would cover everything. They also had me try to apply for a Parent Plus loan, which was denied, so I had all unsubsidized and subsidized Stafford loans. I started with 2 classes in September of 2009. I did fine, attended 1 class in the winter (I worked 2 jobs). I received 2 Title V refunds while attending.
Every semester, I would get a statement and my account always showed a $0.00 balance. I attended 2 Spring classes. I failed one, along with my winter class. In June of 2010, right before the end of my Summer classes, I got a phone call stating I had a $1,500 balance that would have to be paid before I could register for my next class, and that I lost my scholarship because I was not attending full time. I was never made aware that my scholarship required me to go full time. I was out of state at the time of the call, so I told them I would call them when I returned. A week later, I called them back. I now owed them a balance of just over $3,000! When asked why, they said my loans didn't cover my cost and that I received a refund that I was suppose to use to pay my balance. When I asked why I even received a refund when there was an account balance, they said it must have been a mistake, but it was my responsibility.
Now, the refund they are talking about, I received in January of that year. It was now June. I had received 2 statements by June, all showing a $0.00 balance. They refused to work with me, so I was forced to withdraw. They called to start collection on the debt and refused to take less than $175 a month. I was now down to working one part time job, making $8.50 an hour, I had a car payment, auto and health insurance payments and helped pay the other bills at the time. I had no spare money to give! One person had the nerve to tell me, "You should have thought about all these bills you pay when you knew you owed us. If you can pay them, why can't you pay us?"
They began harassing me, calling constantly (in Florida, it is illegal to call so many times a day or to harass a customer). I eventually stopped answering. They sent it to collections twice, but each time, they take it back out of collections. They won't leave it there long enough to be written off. Every time I call to work something out, it's always, "You just have to pay it." It's been 7 years, I'm a stay at home mother and have been trying to go back to school, which I now can't because they refuse to release my transcripts. I was an impressionable 18 year old, looking to get an education fast and get a career. Now, I've got over $14,000 in student loan debt for 5 classes, in which only 2 of the credits transfer to the local community college. This place is terrible.

DeVry University is a for-profit university. They put profits first, then second the shareholders, third the government, fourth the employees of their fake schools, and finally the fifth/sixth taxpayers and students are last on the list in many cases are just ignored/abandoned. Now back to my review I majored in Computer Information Systems. I attended from 2013-2016. This was the most expensive school I ever attended. The classes were too fast paced, outdated e-textbooks, outdated class curriculum, and outdated software. The instructors were too lenient and have no to little knowledge what they were teaching, they passed students who have no business of passing.
In my second year I realized I don't want to work in the IT field so I wanted to change to business degree. The advisors denied me the opportunity to change my major and so I went through the major I had. All of the advisors from financial, academic, and career advisors were random each time you call them and were disinterested in the student's questions and inquires and concerns. They only cared if you miss a payment, then you can get in trouble with the school. They would deny you registering next sessions or semester of classes till you catch up on your payments and place you on academic hold.
I am not happy I finished my education here and now it prevent me from attending another legit school and other opportunities in the future. Many employers hiring did not require a degree in the IT field. They value work experiences and certifications over a degree. DeVry University already knew this before signing me up with them. They care about profits even though it ruins people lives. Almost whatever I was taught at DeVry could have been learned on YouTube or other teaching sites for many thousands cheaper price or even FREE. I learned more from general Google search than at 4-5 years at DeVry. DeVry is a SCAM and is worst decision in my life. Do not attend here... YOU BEEN WARNED.

They have completely robbed me of my degree. Every semester that I have taken I never had a balance. My balances were always paid in full then in 10/2015 out of nowhere I had almost a $6000 balance on my account for some error that they did from about 3 semesters prior to my October 2015 classes. When I asked them what the balance was from they said they issued funds that should not have been issued so now they want it back. Now in present day 09/2016, I have been scrambling trying to find funding to get them paid because I desperately want to finish my degree. They would not allow me to sign up for classes until the balance was paid. Finally my bank approved me for $3800. My account was sent to collections and I paid a settlement.
Now to add more insult to injury I tried to request a copy of my official transcripts and they will not allow me to get them or sign up for classes because there is still a little over $1000 balance on the account which I told them "if you all agreed to a settlement and you all got the money why are you all still holding my transcripts hostage." I was told the settlement will only satisfy getting them off my credit in order to get my transcripts and continue class I will have to pay the full balance.
How are they able to get away with this. This is not fair and I don't know what to do. I can barely afford to make the payments on the loan I took out to pay them and now they are still asking for money even though they agreed on a settlement. Stuff like this is why people have huge student loans and no degrees because they get completely screwed over by these schools. I just want a copy of my transcripts so that I can continue my degree at another institution. Is that too much to ask for.

It's not only important to gain a technical understanding of the Adobe app, but to combine these technical skills with art and design fundamentals into an integrated understanding of how the information in class can be applied in different scenarios for diverse future clients. I have returned to DeVry May 2016 to finish my BS degree. I had attended in the past and had only 38 credits left to finish. I had to jump through hoop after hoop to get re registered and get simple information that should have been very easily attained and attainable. In the previous 2 months of this May 2016 semester I had worked towards getting all the paperwork needed. I had it all together, financial aid and tuition monies lined up. I got my schedule and all was inline to start.
The first day of class I went online to get started and there was no access to my courses. I called and waited hours of phone calls and a few days later I got the problem fixed. I started class and have been attending, doing all my required work and meeting my 3 discussions per topic per class each week. Today I logged into the portal and it was telling me the server was busy for a few hours and also the Hub was not allowing me access to my course list. I decided to call only to be told once again my classes were dropped and that they were sorry, they are not sure how or what had happened.
I was told the problem would be resolved and they would get a hold of the registrar and get back with me in a short time. This was this morning and it is now after hours and not a phone call, an email or any contact from anyone to even let me know they were working on the issue or where they were with the status of my situation.
Considering this is twice I have been put off in the past 2 weeks and the fact we deal with very condensed course time I find it rather appalling and disrespectful to be treated as if this is not a major issue. It is a very serious issue when there is numerous situations always occurring and it takes most times multiple hours and days to correct things. I feel as though this institution could really care less about the high standards they profess to have. I have no desire to continue but at the same time I am almost finished with my degree and do not want to have the hassle to transfer and go through all the time and cost to get into another college. BUT, At $609.00 A CREDIT HOUR and the hassle that seemingly non stop issues that come about regularly with DeVry it is almost worth the hassle to transfer.
DeVry, You are one of the, if not the highest charging educational institution. Your staff is friendly and polite, I will it that but for the accumulation of issues and cost you take the top rank. I have been reading numerous complaints regarding similar issues and the options for some are low so getting charged with the costs of financial responsibilities become a even higher burden for a lot of students. I can't even finish my degree because of the cost you charge. It is ridiculous that people are stuck with this cost. I know I chose DeVry but only because the situation I was in at the time I started. You have the cost per credit fixed so you can't catch a break because most can not take more than 8 credits in one session. The credit break before was if you took more than 7 credits in one session??? They it would lower the cost some but still unbelievably high.
I am less than 38 credits to finish and I am struggling financially to make this work so I can get my degree finished up. Then I have to call at least once a week to get things repaired and fixed because of issues or glitched in your system. Deleting my classes and bumping my classes. This is so disruptive, and not very professional at all. I can not remember a time when attending any other college that I had this many problems with classes and online education.
I am wondering what I am suppose to do while I wait again for your institution to fix yet another problem. I have to wait around and then play catch up because of your mistake. What happens now they have dropped my classes. I have 2 weeks of work completed in these courses I was registered for. What happens to the work when this is fixed and I am put back into the classes??? Then again I have now lost another work day to complete my work and this is two weeks in this session this has happened. I get the apologies from your staff. How sweet. It does not help my motivation and drive to keep getting pounded with these irritating issues.
I am so thoroughly disappointed and I am losing a lot of respect for Devry. You pride yourself in being a professional school of Management. But it appears that the school could care less about the education of their students. I see no hurry or concern in my case. I have been a dedicated student and I have taken my education very seriously. I wish I felt that I was of the same importance in relations to your Institution.

I work full-time for my employer, and work for myself, in addition to being a husband and father. DeVry Online courses are flexible enough to allow me to work through the program on my time, and are challenging enough to provide a sense of satisfaction. The staff and faculty are seasoned professionals who really care about the subject and the students. I would recommend DeVry to anyone looking to pursue an online degree.

I took classes at Devry online. I agree with the rest of the reviews, this has to be the worst decision ever. I was dismissed from my associates program with only 3 classes left to take. I was told it would be a $30k fixed loan, no interest for a certain amount of time. I signed up and then I accumulated more than 30k. I asked Financial aid team, HOW??? They said my application went through after promotion expired. I was pissed off. I didn't do so well due to personal issues but now, no matter what I provide to them they will not accept it to admit me back into Devry.
I recently keep getting emails, calls, and letters about my 75k loan being late. I have a family of 8 and I don't have a good job because I don't have a degree. Devry messed up my life and I cry every night. I am stressed out. I don't have a penny to my name and they threaten me with levying my bank account. My husband still has no clue that it's past 40k. I am scared to death that he will leave me and win custody of my children if he finds out. I talked it out with a therapist and she said Devry definitely put me into depression. I don't know what to do. Someone please help me.

I attended the Phoenix campus from 2008 - 2012 for my Bachelor's in Network and Communications Management and then again in 2013-2014 for my Master's. At first, things were going well despite a few setbacks that I had with my courses. My first program cost roughly $54,000 which was paid for through Federal loans (Parent-Plus). The scholarships that they gave out were only $1,000 per semester plus my PELL grants at $1,720 per year. At the end of the program, I had about $44,000 to pay back.
After graduation, I moved to CA to pursue my career. Found a couple of jobs but was ultimately let go from both. After being let go from the first job, I decided to go back for my Master's. This is where things went wrong. The girl I talked to at the Sherman Oaks campus told me in a calm and clear manner that the program would cost only $21,000 and it would be added onto my current loan account. So the math in my head told me 'Okay, that brings the total amount I owe to about $65,000' and with interest added should be about $74,000.' After graduation, lo and behold I find that they made another loan account to Sallie-Mae (now Navient) and the amount did not match up to the original agreed loan amount to take out. So according to them, I now owe $64,000+ for a program that only cost me $21,000. How does this make any sense?!
I have been back and forth between them and Navient about this. On Navient's side, the undergrad loans are correct (even though the interest rates are absurd). So 5 years of school and 4 job changes later, this school has me slated to pay back close to $130,000 when the total amount of the loans only equal to be between $64,000 - $68,000 (this is including interest added recently to the Parent-Plus loans). Because of these loans, I am afraid that I won't be able to start to have an actual life with a family and a house until I am in my 40's!
The only good thing that has come out of this is the training and degrees I earned. As far as job placement, they only assisted for 2 months. After I told the Phoenix Campus career department that I landed a job in my field, they said "OK" and asked me what I was doing now. They hung up shortly after and never bothered to contact me ever again... and that was close to 4 years ago. By the way, it should be noted that I went out, hit the ground and landed the jobs ON MY OWN! Granted, I am now employed in my field still but the fact that they never went the extra mile to ask for my resume to send out to recruiters for possible interviews was a slap in the face. All they care about is how much money are you going to shell out? I'm still battling this school about the overage of my second account which should not have been created at all!
In hindsight, I never thought it would be as excruciating an experience. They made it sound so easy that a caveman could do it (no pun intended). I go in, do the work, graduate, land a job and pay back the loans. Sounded so easy at first. Never thought that I might have to take a school to court over the fact that they made a second loan account behind my back. Frankly, I was elated to see that they are being investigated by the FTC. I hate to say this because I made some friends with my professors at the Phoenix campus but I hope that they shut them down. No one should ever have to go through what me and many other former and current students at this institution are going through now.

I'm attending Devry Online at the moment. I'm just taking a 10 month certification program that I was told I could afford with my Fin Aid. Now I'm in the WARNING Zone of exhausting my funds and only halfway through the program. When I call the Fin Aid dept they just give me the runaround and different answer from whoever I get on the phone. I'm pretty sure they are taking more money than is needed. I keep running the numbers to what they told me in the beginning of the cost to where we are now and nothing makes sense. Be very cautious about taking out loans with this for-profit school... They will make it sound easy; then when you're halfway through will exhaust all your funds with no job prospects...

I want to put out a warning to all students, especially those who are looking for an accredited online education and wanting to use their GI Bill benefits. My experience with DeVry was academically good, but they forced me to sign promissory notes 'just in case'. I informed the financial aid department on several occasions that I was 100% covered the GI Bill and there was no need for loans. They assured me this would be for last resort funding. I went about my education and was, in fact, learning a lot when I started receiving refund checks. I made several calls to inquire about my account but every time I was assured I had no balance and to go ahead and use the money.
Towards the end of my program I started receiving notices from Federal Loan entities showing I was in debt to them for loans taken out in my name. I called about it and told them I knew nothing of these loans and would not be held liable. They were sympathetic but they couldn't help me out. I contacted the VA and the gentleman went through the system and informed me that since they had indeed sent in payments their side was clean. I agreed. He recommended I file a formal complaint through the VA system, which I did. Within days I received word from DeVry parent group asking for a teleconference with the Ombudsman. I attended the teleconference which only lasted about 5 minutes and gave them all my information and my story.
Unfortunately I hadn't written down names during the past two years, didn't think it would come to this. Within weeks the Ombudsman sent me an email giving their decision along with all the evidence against me. Funny thing is: when I inquired about the telephone conversations I knew had been recorded all those times I called, I was told they do not keep the recordings more than 6 months. And yet two years later the Ombudsman was able to obtain transcript copies of those recordings! They agreed to pay back only a portion of the loans taken out and in turn sent me to collections for the other half. I told her that I was not responsible for any of the loans in the first place. It has been a very stressful situation and I do not recommend this school under any circumstances. All this occurred between Jan 2013-Jan 2016.

I started my bachelor's degree late in life. At 54, I didn't have high hopes of achieving my goal but I took a leap of faith and walked thru the doors. From the moment I first met with the administration adviser, I felt this may actually be obtainable. He made me feel so comfortable and showed me what they could do for me to help me achieve my goal. He was able to take my previous classes and fit it into a curriculum that fit me and my goals. That was 2 years ago. I am now 3 sessions from finishing my bachelor's and the experience has be so fulfilling. From the professors down to the tutors, DeVry has helped me excel in my daily job and has given me a new confidence in myself to strive for even greater. I have out grown my current position and look forward to seeing what doors DeVry has helped me open. Thank you DeVry.

So I obtained my G.E.D. when I was older and decided to attend college that same month. I have always heard how well the Devry name was and figured why not... Huge mistake since I live in a small town and could only attend the online courses. First mistake is to do online courses when or if things don't go well you have to reach the place via phone or email because you can't travel to the main office. My first semester went really well actually. I did the classes my adviser told me to take and what the maximum student aid would cover. I explained my financial situation the same way and explained to the adviser that I could only take what student aid would cover because I was in between jobs at the moment.
During the second semester I stated the same thing to the adviser, that I could not cover any extra classes and would only be able to take the maximum amount of classes that student aid would cover. He explained that the last adviser was incorrect and could have given me an extra two credit hours. So I figured "hey sign me up for those so I can move along faster". I asked him 3 times if he was sure about it and explained that I could not take extra classes due to not being able to pay for them at this time.
Around 3-4 weeks passed after I started the semester and I received a bill in the mail from Devry University. I was "whats this?", opened up the bill to find a huge bill for extra college credit hours that my student aid did not cover. I called Devry at that time and spoke to several people because they kept pushing me around to different people since no one wanted to help me. Finally spoke to someone who said I could cancel the class and not have to worry about the bill. I cancelled the class with them and then a few weeks later received another bill.
I called back and did the same run around until I spoke with someone who stated that I have to pay due to canceling the class after two weeks after the class has started. I was extremely vexed at the school and more upset that I kept getting the run around. I explained my situation to them and they started passing me around over and over. After around 2 months of calling and being thrown around and around I gave up. I figured I would take a breather and call back and try again at a later date. They ended up sending my file to a debt consolidator. Now when I call they don't have any information of me being there and said my file was sold... I owe 19k for 2 credit hours and the fee just keeps getting higher with interest...
I have asked to receive copies of the phone call and they stated it was for their personal use only and they could not send me any copies. I spoke with an adviser today and he just kept asking me why I have waited years to get this taken care of and there is nothing he could do. He just kept saying that he would have got this taken care of at the time of the incident if it was him. I asked him to help me get it taken care of now and he transferred me. Surprise!!!

I attended Devry University North Brunswick in 2002 to 2010. I graduated and received my bachelor degree in Networking. Then I started working on a masters degree in Educational Technology. I told them that I couldn't pay any out of pocket cost and was told "you're good". So I continue my education and they said I'm getting half of my tuition off because I was working in the Board of Education at that time. Then after I finished, reality came, I am 100,000 in debts. I am sinking in debts and can't find one job to call me for an interview because of the lying that they said they would help me find a job and place me in a job so that I could pay this money back. I even applied with them and they didn't hire me in their own campus.

I have to say out of all the schools out there with online programs available Devry has a great line up. I chose BBA in Accounting and so far so good. The 8-week fast track semesters are good if you can keep up outside of work etc. Plus I find it awesome that each instructor works or did work in the field they are teaching.

I am currently employed as a Senior Manager at an Atlanta based IT company and I made a life changing decision to further my education. I have a challenging career which requires me to travel on a regular basis and demands around the clock attention. In addition, I operate a non-profit organization which mentors troubled teenagers. My life is busy! I knew I would set myself up for failure if I attempted to attend a brick and mortar campus but Devry University provided me an alternative solution, "online" education. You have the ability to choose any school that provides an online degrees but Devry University sets you up for success. They have assisted me every step of the way - which I interpret as, "failure is not option." If you take the time to read my review, "thank you" and know when you choose Devry University - you've made the right choice.

When I finally grew up and realized I needed a degree to support my family I went directly to Devry because my uncle attended and gave it glorious reviews. Well I am a multiple felon (not proud of the fact please don't judge) and I was open with my admissions advisor to the fact and even asked flat out if it was going to affect me getting a job in Network and Communications Management. That is their Bachelor's program that set me back 67k in the hole... 4 years later and I lost track of how many interviews I have had in those years... Well I have finally given up all hope to ever get a job in my field and I graduated number 1 in my class all 3 1/2 years I attended. Never had an issue or was contacted to answer for anything aside from my professors telling me how well I was doing. Well I have been hearing a lot lately about how shifty Devry is and it's got me ready for war (the legal kind lol).
Sad part is that it was at a job interview with Erie Insurance to maintain their network etc that I was finally given an honest but life shattering truth. The interviewer could have lost his job over what he told me but I respected that he couldn't sit by tell me he will be in contact and just never call... Since most jobs in my field require you being in control of a company's whole everything (Data, Customer info, basically you could screw them badly if you had cruel and criminal intentions in the positions I am educated for) and that no company in their sound and right mind would take a risk like that.
It didn't matter if I turned into Mother Theresa. It was just not gonna happen. He told me a few times over that he really liked what he seen in me and thought I would be perfect even though 10 years prior I had a few years of crazy bad choices. It doesn't matter that I haven't gotten so much as a parking ticket since I was 19. I will never be able to use my degree for its true purpose so why should I have to pay back that 67k?
For anyone else that plans on making Devry the number one draft pick. This is my advice. I won't say don't attend or change your mind... What I will say is this. Every phone call mention to your advisor that since they are recording the call you would like copies of every single moment. This will make them think twice about lying to you or not informing you of stuff you're going to wanna scream about 5 years and 50-100K in debt later. Is there anything I can do to help myself?

First I am (was) using my GI Bill to attend this so called university named Devry. I decided to take a semester off because of a new job. I get a message saying that if I don't participate in class I will automatically be dropped from them. The next day I call Devry to tell them about the phone call I received, which they replied that it must have been a glitch or something because I am not enrolled into any classes. A month later I get a bill in the mail from Devry saying that I owe $2500. But I am using my GI Bill that pays 100% of my classes.
I keep getting the runaround with the finance people at Devry and I can't get one single answer why I owe that money to them. The VA doesn't know why I owe Devry $2500 either. I am another Veteran that has had their school benefits taken away because of Devry being a shady, sneaky business. Oh by the way I recently get a email from Devry saying that if I hear anything about Devry getting Investigated by the FTC and US government that it's all false and the truth will come out. Well I hope they shut them down for all the hurt and pain they have cause to the thousands of hard working students and Vets.

The finance office at DeVry is terrible. Every time you speak to someone, you get a different answer. They either say whatever comes to mind to get rid of you, or you're asking a smart question and they have no clue what's going on with your account, so you get a well rehearsed statement they think is an answer. They are very good at handling angry people, so this should speak volumes.
I am a single female, over 50 with no college degree and sorely underemployed. When I questioned why I was not eligible for the Subsidized Student Loan, I was told those loans are on a needs based criteria and I didn't need it! Huh? What? How can that be? So what they are saying is I have to be a single minority mother to qualify for a Subsidized Student Loan? Sure, that's the answer, because they probably don't make as much money from Subsidized as un-Subsidized loans. I know I qualified, but they weren't going to give it to me!
Do you know I had to fight them tooth and nail for some Subsidized money (and some is the operative word here). They have taught me well, I didn't stop with bonafide actual facts about my financial situation, until the person on the other line had no choice but to bump me up the ladder. When I got to the top, I calmly laid out my undeniable case! Lo and behold, finally I was granted some Subsidized money, but the majority of my student loans are un-Subsidized. Tisk, tisk, tisk DeVry!!! You're behaving like thieves!
