I had been on this site for a while since I live in a small town in the middle of nowhere. Anyway I asked a woman a question about her religious views and I was polite and nice about it. I didn't do it in an abusive or mean or rude manner or anything. Since the person had very close views as me and we both liked doing a lot of the same things, next thing I know I receiving swearing and cussing and the person calling me stupid and dumb and all kind of abusive and mean and harassing messages that I did not want to deal with so I blocked them. A few hours later my account was deleted and I was told I violated TOS which I did not. The other person did. While on the site I also had picture that was in other folders deleted and threatened to be banned for saying "it's better to find someone to wake up to than sleep with.” As in all this site isn't worth using since most of the matches did not in fact match and it’s just a waste of time.

So, I had been using OkCupid for quite a while. I would say a year or two on and off. I had answered hundreds and hundreds of questions that the site has you do "for the best possible match". The majority of those answers were in great depth and were very well thought out. I believed that answering such questions in great detail would allow people to understand me better.

Well, in my main profile I had put in there that I do not like 3rd Wave Feminists. I also explained that I am an egalitarian and believe in equal rights for all, so it was not sexist at all. I just do not like the ** who are trying to take away rights and push a fascist agenda. I thought that was reasonable. It is something that I just do not like. I even stated that if the woman was one of the good Feminists (one of the feminists who truly believes in equality), we would probably get along just fine. I was by no means making any hate speech towards women. I love women. They are my equal.

So, to my shock after not speaking to anyone on the site for a quite a while my account was banned. Mind you, I had been signing in, so my account was not inactive. At first I thought it was a technical glitch. Then I did some searching and realized the site had banned me. So I contacted them. They told me that I violated the TOS and was harassing people. I had only spoken to a few people, only had one debate (a debate is not harassment or hate speech) with a Feminist, and it had been months since I said anything to anyone. How could I have harassed anyone?

Back to my first point. Even my actions on the site do not reflect someone who was "trolling" or "harassing" others. No one would have invested the hours that I did giving thoughtful and expansive answers to hundreds of questions if they were there just to "troll" or "harass" others. It would be a giant waste of time. It makes no sense.

I noticed to where before I only got profile views sporadically, after I put my position on Feminists on my main profile page on OkCupid, more women were now coming and viewing it. Next thing I know I am banned. Logic tells me is that they did a false flag campaign against me because they did not like my position. They try to silence and harass anyone who does not agree with them. This is a known tactic by them. So, in the end. I am the one that was harassed!

I have tried multiple times to resolve this situation and OkCupid will not even look into it. I know for a fact that I did not harass anyone or break the TOS, so why am I being treated this way? OkCupid says that giving honest answers will better your chances of finding a match. In reality is if you have an answer that they do not like or their members do not like, you will be removed. So, my recommendation is do not use this site, or if you do, leave your answers as superficial as possible. They do not care and they will not resolve your situation if you are the one that has been wronged.

I posted in my profile about helping the "Catskill Mountain Railroad" Not getting torn up for a Bike trail, and they Blocked me. Wasn't asking for money or anything, just want to help the railroad! Yet I'd see women on the advertising for their home businesses, all the time, and some could be considered scams and nothing is ever done to them! I was an A plus account and they did refund my money, but that is not the point! I did nothing wrong!

I send out decent, innocent invitations to chat/correspond. I paid for "special package" which includes ability to see that my messages are being read in real time. 9 out of 10 "ladies" never bother to acknowledge my presence/attempts at communicating. They lie saying they "missed" me when I see them go to my profile after reading my introduction/repeated attempt to see if there is any interest.

I realize many have been "harassed" but they must know not everyone is a scammer, cheat, etc. Inconsiderate "ladies" if they are actual profiles. I suspect it's mostly 'impostors' who are there to lend some sort of legitimacy to the site. I think the site is a scam! If you mention scam on the site itself then they find some profile to find a petty, almost imagined, offense to cancel what you paid for. How this can go on without the authorities doing something to rectify this is beyond me.

OkCupid is notorious for randomly shutting down user accounts without providing an explanation why. This is bad business practice on their part, users can be reported by another user for no legitimate reason or moderators can take issue with e-mail correspondences you've had with other users and then you find your account blocked or deleted and you're left without any recourse. Honestly people stay away and don't use the online services of OkCupid. Go out and meet people the old fashion way... IN PERSON. I've sent a few e-mails to OkCupid and nobody from the organization has bothered to acknowledge or respond. Lesson learned.

Unlike many other reviewers, I have not encountered Nigerian or other overseas scammers. There was one who used a picture of a London based wealthy business owner, married with kids, and there were some with no pics at all. In addition, there were so many local arrogant middle eastern men who do not take no for an answer. And there were plenty of other local weirdos. These dating sites make you believe that there are no normal middle aged men out there. I am an educated, attractive woman who was interested in meeting a normal middle aged educated and interesting man. I guess, there is no such thing, lol.

I hate talking bad about other people, but after using this site, I think that most middle aged men are either struggling with some sort of addictions or they are looking for a one night stand. And there are so many young men who have too much free time on their hands, which is fine, I just ignore them. I have met about 7 men from this site, including a cardiologist, custom jewelry designer, engineer, business owner, etc, and every single one turned out to be a weirdo. Women beware of those who sound too good to be true, lol, especially the ones who want to spoil you. Thanks goodness, I have connected brain cells and see two steps ahead of them. Good luck to those who met someone special, but all the rest just need to be careful. :)

I decided 2016 I was I needed a change in life. I have recently turned 50 and had heard good things about OK Cupid. I signed up on Jan 1st and was immediately contacted by a guy whose profile said he lived in bell Gardens, CA. We started IMing and seemed to be on the same page. About 30 mins into it he tells me he's in Afghanistan in the Army but will be retiring after 20 yrs in March. I think this is nice, we have 3 months to get to know each other and not jump into anything. He had no access to Skype, a cell phone nor any recent photos.

He told me he loved me after 8 days, asked me to send him a cell phone, and every sentence ended in "my love". I suspected he was a catfish right off the bat. He asked me to delete my profile because we were done searching. Jump ahead to 4 weeks. I tell him it's time to basically put up or shut up. I was a actions speak louder than words kinda girl. Now keep I mind we had chatted in yahoo IM for at least 2 hours a day every day for a month. So the not knowing was making me crazy. So I had a friend on the sheriffs dept run his info, he had no info the database for the US. What a surprise.

That was 5 days ago, never heard back since I backed him into a corner. In the 2 weeks I've been back on the site, I've been stood up because I wouldn't send naked pics ahead of time. Chatted with 2 guys who have LA as their home and when asked where in LA they are they replied California. And 2 more have LA area as hometown and turn to be in Africa in the military. That's 5 catfishes. I got an email saying I have a high viewing history, congrats!!! I don't know how, I have not found a real guy on this site yet. I'm getting hit up by women, couples and 20-30 something's, mostly out of state or country. All I can say women is don't waste your time or money on this site.

A friend told me about the site, new to Match, so thought I'd check out Cupid. From the get-go men were coming on unreasonably strong; calling me delicious, gorgeous, wanting to go "where this is going". Very young and didn't care that I was 62. Red flags immediately, very unsophisticated, unprofessional and lewd. Immediately wanting my phone, email, etc. Mostly out-of-state, in armed services.

The final straw was from someone who went by username **. Opening line to me "50 shades of grey has nothing on me". I responded that that was not appealing to me and that his username was meant to attract one kind of woman, which wasn't me. His response was, "Sorry, didn't mean to offend. I'm a nice guy. I'll change my username..." Wanted to meet for coffee, wanted to know where I was, etc. Next morning I opened email and got one from him... "Good morning my love"! That sent red flags all over the place and I deleted my profile immediately. A very scary place and thank God my intuition told me that pretty quickly. I was on there a little over 24 hrs. Dating sites are not for me, joined Match for 3 mo. and after two weeks, never had a conversation. I'm done. The $48 was worth the valuable lesson I learned. Fate and chance is the best. A person's eyes are worth a million words for me. I would never recommend internet dating to anyone!

These guys were plain crazy! I am appalled at how rude these guys were and they never met me. Some never even talked. Just text. There is a reason that men in their 40's and 50's have never been married. OkCupid should really do some background checks or at the very least offer it up for a price. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SITE.

He left at 5 pm on new year's eve stating there was a family emergency but he would be back tomorrow. That emergency was he is a REGISTERED SEX OFFENDER FOR LIFE. He is on parole and left his home for over 3 days and had to check in with his parole officer.

He left on January 3 and he and my daughter had been in a fight. He threatened her and shoved her. Finally, Monday, my daughter broke up with him. That is when I googled his name and it came up REGISTERED SEX OFFENDER STATE of Illinois. I have contacted OKCUPID. I am well aware of their disclaimer that they are not responsible because they do not do background checks. That is why I am writing this. DO NOT USE THIS SITE. Please protect yourself. This used to be a good site. I am a professional and (so I've been told) attractive woman who is intelligent, classy, sophisticated and articulate. The primary issue I have with OKC is there is no feasible method of blocking men from specific age demographics. As a 44 year old sane professional I am honestly disgruntled and disheartened by the number of 20-something "men" who contact me. I am confident in stating that at least 95% of the emails I've received via this site during the times my account is actually active are from men under the age of 24. Maybe this is something that some women out there enjoy - the possibility of a hook-up with some young creep. Not me. OKC used to come highly recommended and I, too, would recommend it to friends due to the fact there are some very poignant questions that, if answered, can help you find a better match.

This is a fact: today I finally reactivated my account and - no joke - less than 60 seconds had passed before I received a message from a 23 year old (who clearly didn't take the time to read my profile) telling me he wanted to "get to know" me. Right. I immediately deactivated. It's disgusting... hearing from "kids" who are young enough to be my son. WHY can't there be a filter such as that of POF in which we can block out specific ages from contacting us? One more thing: blocking someone from POF and/or reporting that person doesn't seem to do anything. I've received some pretty nasty messages and yet nothing has been done to remove such profiles. I kept holding out hope that OKC would get a clue and provide some level of class but clearly they do not care about the members who truly want to meet someone of quality.

Surprisingly, the picture was of a judge in Texas married for 29 years with 3 children. The impostor said he lived outside of Philadelphia. The other one said he lived in Trenton, NJ. His picture came up as an actor in London. I advise anyone on these sites to use image search before you get too involved. I contacted OKCupid, but they are still on the site.

I cannot say that this was a "bad" experience per se. It is a non-paid online dating website. I wrote a very specific profile saying what I am seeking - a man to date and possibly marry in my area, giving a very detailed description of myself and what type of man I am looking for. I have received at least 95% entirely unsuitable responses. Men in geographically distant areas, much younger men, married men and men who obviously did not read my profile and did not share any of my values/desires.

Of those who did "match up", some of them seemed not to have a good command of the English language. Some of the message exchanges seemed very suspicious. This used to be a site I felt comfortable with. I now feel most of the men are not very genuine, serious or honest. Most seem to be posing or simply looking for hook up. I keep trying. It's free and maybe someone nice will turn up. Lots of cranks these days. I am very cautious.

I found my share of scammers on OK Cupid Vietnam but believe that the same can be found on most if not all online dating sites. Finding legitimate profiles takes time, effort, lots of common sense and patience. Although many of the responses to my profile were obviously scammers I met several really decent women that were seeking the same as I. Love and commitment with somebody that shared the same interests and values. Two years ago my brief time on OKcupid Vietnam led me to Thuy. Thuy and I communicated via OKcupid for quite some time before moving to emails, texts, Face Time and phone calls. 12 months after meeting online we met in person for the first time and I proposed.

Almost two years after meeting, I've visited Vietnam two more times to spend time with Thuy and her son. They recently completed their interview and were approved to return to the United States with me. Although I had my share of creepy people and scammers, my situation was well worth the experience. My suggestion is not to share personal information too quickly. Don't share so much information that it becomes really easy to fill in the blanks. If looking for a monogamous relationship, once you find somebody that appears decent, focus your time and attention on that developing relationship as its really easy to get caught up in all the responses you will receive. Don't send money or gifts early on and don't progress too rapidly.

Seems only eating and sleeping have a stronger grip on steering our daily behaviour than that thing in our heads screaming at us to find love and have sex. OkCupid is a free/or paid online dating service. Setting Cupid apart from other dating sites are hundreds (and hundreds) of questions you're asked to provide a reliable profile. Life Dynamics like Ethics, Lifestyle, Dating, and Sex are categories. With answers to those questions, you can check for real commonality beyond liking the smile in a photo.

Searching through thousands of profiles can be unbelievably tedious, time-consuming work. As a free Cupid member, I'd rate the site a "3-4" and one of the more savvy for the Q&A profiles alone. If you opt to cough-up the $70 annual fee and become an A-list member, the Cupid experience goes to a "5" and is likely the smartest approach to pairing out there. For those serious about finding a "partner" (rather than just "dating"), your patience and willingness to pay the annual fee will give you a significant advantage to vet the many for a good match and cut time lost by half.

A-list members have access to smart search tools, free members do not. These tools use "customized searches" to help narrow the field. In a "custom" query, using keywords, you pluck from the many those who answered questions the way you'd have hoped they would. Example: "HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT KIDS": (A.) I love them and they love me, (B.) OK but keep the rowdy ones away, or (C.) I don't like rugrats. If you're interested in a girl who loves kids and want to meet those who answered (A.), Cupid will dig through females in the 30M base who answered (A.) and show you those profiles FIRST. This A-list (paid member) tool will suppress profiles who answered (B.) or (C.) and facilitate your discovery of like-minded partners. Not a sure thing, but you have some control now. It's key you answer as many questions on Cupid as honestly as you can manage to make this thing work. Choosing profiles which already show he/she shares very similar tastes puts you light years ahead in the online dating game. Makes for a better experience on Cupid, or any dating site I believe.

OKCupid seems to have an entitled attitude e.g. 'you need us, we don't need you'. They have a history of "Blocking" (can't log-in) members for no apparent reason at all. Trying to reach anyone to speak with is a chuckle. Match.com owns Cupid and I have called them with concerns to no avail. The answer, be honest and reasonably polite. There are ways to mitigate time investment and get in front of Cupid's odds. Time and experience will reveal strategies which are largely common sense workarounds. Put your sarcasm and vitriol to bed. The knee-jerk reaction to respond viciously to foolish mail will get you nowhere. Anyone can report your profile (if only for being rejected!) and falsify a report getting you bounced off the site. Play nice. Qualifying a partner is smart.

After a couple encouraging notes have been exchanged, suggest the conversation move to a phone call. Then each hears the others voice, nuance, sense of humour, and general flow or "connect". If he/she is interested, you won't find resistance. If the other declines a phone conversation, say 'no problem' and move on. You've likely dodged a bullet. Too many "players" on Cupid. Vet the other with important questions (use humor), sate your curiosity, and discover what you need to know to move forward. You'll save time. When talking, spend only so much time on who went to school where and how much she loves her dog. Get to the essentials of what you want to know as soon as it feels right. Remind the other you're focused on finding a good match for a long term relationship and there's much to discover in many areas. The call isn't about small talk.

If everything goes well in talking, agree to meet and do so knowing a good deal more than meeting without the call. Above all, you be yourself. "To date, there is no compelling evidence any online dating matching algorithm actually works." These thoughts from Eli Finkel, Associate Professor of Social Psychology at the Northwestern University in Chicago, may seem to ring true for those online and single, still to find love. Still, from a user's perspective and with all its unsavory aspects, it's the site I'd recommend to a smart friend looking for online dating.

I accepted and they send me a document to sign and a week later I got an email with pictures and video on this guy who they say was the lady I was talking to. To cut the story short I got part of the money back and the guy was send to jail. I just want any victim of scam on OkCupid to have hope you will get these criminals. Please here is my email **. I joined only 7 days ago and the first person to contact me was a scammer, and the second one also. I realized ** is probably a Nigerian scammer as 3 days into texting me, he wanted my phone number, started to profess his love for me, said he is coming in 3 weeks to move in with me, asked me how much I paid for my property, emailed me constantly, and even though he says he is Norwegian, cannot speak a word of "Norway" as he called it, and had excuses why he could not. He has two different birthdays, and could not tell me the color of his eyes or how tall he was. I am in criminal justice so I knew the questions to ask. He has not stopped texting me or calling me and gave two phone numbers that turned out to be one-way only.

He never leaves a message when I do not answer. He gets his "words of love" from a site and copies and pastes, word for word. The phone connection is international, I checked it out, also one of the phone lines goes to an apartment in Redwood City California. I checked it out. He says he works on an oil rig, he is cross-linked to a retired FB account with a variation of the name used on OKCupid. The scammer obviously hacked the FB account, obtained pictures and is using Mr. ** picture with a phony profile. The scammer is not smart. He is posing as a Norwegian and his accent is Nigerian. I am a psyche nurse and hold various degrees, and know accents.

OKCupid is obviously not interested as I have tried to contact them about this. I am not out money, the scammer was found out immediately and today he called me several times and I did not answer the phone. He texts me and calls at all hours of the day or night. I know about scammers and how they operate, I have confronted him on several occasions and he keeps on calling and texting sending copied and pasted words of love and devotion. This man must be a very incompetent scammer or he must be demented. Again, he uses a stolen identity of ** or ** of Redwood City California who is 53 years old. This guy has to be stopped.

I joined OKCupid in March and found immediately that there was more to it than met the eye. A woman runs into these pictures of either soldiers, or models, or intelligent looking businessmen, but the one problem is - that can't write English. I can spot the fakes and OK Cupid is overflowing with them. Every one of them are bridge contractors or soldiers stationed in a faraway country or a businessman who just moved to America with some unidentifiable accent.

After nearly being duped, I caught on very quickly that they want to get the woman emotionally involved by telling her that "she looks like an angel" or "you're definitely my perfect match, I'll do anything for you." Lies, lies. And the lies are to get you hooked then the request for funds begin. Suddenly they've traveled to a far away place and they were robbed of all of their worldly possessions including passport and money. "Can you send me money. I'll pay it back." Thank God it never went that far with me, but girls, BE ON THE LOOK OUT - BOLO!! Don't send them a red cent!!!

He called himself "Hector." He messaged me saying he was interested, he lived in a nearby town and he left his number. I texted him and we seemed to hit it off right away. All of his photos seemed legit and was very sweet. Within 48 hours he began calling me his one and only, his "princess." Already I had warning bells going off, but I kept talking to him. I asked him what he did for a living and he sent me a link to his business, his very own business he said selling building materials. Late that night I checked out this link. Much to my surprise there was a picture of the "CEO" on the website and it was a completely different man than the one on OkCupid. So I did a bit more checking up. The man on the website had a FB page so I checked it out. This man was married, had a son, and was in his late 30's.

The man from OkCupid was widowed, supposedly, had a daughter and was 50 years old! The website had a phone number for the company. First off it had a country code of 53, which is Cuba, and it had a city code for Havana! This "small business owner" from the next town over was getting more interesting by the second! I called the number in Havana. It's a bogus number! I went back to the website. Nothing was clickable! Not even the business locator! I called him on his local number, which turned out to be a magic jack phone and confronted him. He called me insane, paranoid, bipolar and he even said "This is how women like you get killed!!" I was completely blown away! I took a screen shot of the threat and called my local police! He claims his name is Hector **. His "business" is **. Be Aware! OkCupid is a breeding ground for human vermin!

Finally after a week of sending a few messages finally someone sent me an email. Their message was I was blocked indefinitely for making a crude unacceptable remark to another subscriber. Didn't even know what they were talking about except that I'm on a shared computer then someone made a gesture from the computer which is probably unlikely unless it was hacked. That was all that I heard from them. They won't respond or investigate. They block your router IP address so you NEVER EVER get in their site.

Well my response is ''they go out of their way to block someone for making an unacceptable gesture.'' Here is OKCUPID this dating site that asks questions if you have genital piercings, or shave your pubic hair or how often you **. Excuse me yet I apparently made a rude gesture at someone so you ban the router along with computer IP Address. I know because I almost fell victim to it!! They ask several questions about who you are and sweet talk you then before you know it, they want money. They give a ** story stating how they're widowed/divorced and need help. Thankfully I'm pretty savvy and did my research. If anything, it was definitely a learning experience.

Another red flag: if you're looking in your area, then why are they looking from other states to connect with someone? The people in the pics are just as much the victims as we are. It makes me sick that all the dating sites do nothing to protect innocent people who are trying to find someone trustworthy to connect with. There are multiple sites I have found that discuss this topic and I even found reports on the person who tried to scam me from this dating site. He uses two different names using same pictures as dating sites. Disgusting how these dating sites claim to be legit when they allow this to go on!!

Also, I could not find his name on Google, or LinkedIn despite his claim of being in a high-profile field. The 2nd was supposed to be in the military. He had an online profile on Google and other sites, but they all appeared to be very recent with no past history. The remainder were local (to me) looking for flings or one-nighters. They claim they love you and you are the one they have been looking for all their lives. They either widow or their "ex-wife" cheated on them. I recently reported a scammer -- for whom I had the entire story. A man who had stolen the pictures from another dating site, who had created a fake professional site with those pictures etc -- and was contacted by one employee in charge of complaints who wrote that OKCupid would block this individual from contacting me: I can do it myself by pressing "block them". When I asked him if he wanted more information about this person, he did not even reply. I also asked this employee how his company intends to solve this problem of scamming, and no answer again.

Conclusion: Dating companies -- unless they take steps in taking seriously the reporting from their members, and act accordingly (not only blocking that person) will go down soon, because they do nothing for the customer except from providing a site. The dating service which will succeed will be that which will be able to screen individuals and make its members trust the site. We are still very far from it! The man whose identity was stolen, he does not know about it. I cannot locate him, but have his name.

I have had an account that has been on and off for nearly a decade, including paying $20+/month. As of recently, I had reactivated my profile and changed status to 'polyamorous' since my current girlfriend has been wanting to explore her sexuality. Even though the options for setting up your profile and desired match include 'bisexuality', gay, heterosexual, polyamory, etc, this leaves you open to having your account deleted and blocked from customer support. Again, this is an account that I've had for nearly ten years, including paying for the service. Then, to have the moderators instantly delete my profile without any explanation, because somebody was upset by the fact that my profile settings clearly indicate that I am searching for a bi-sexual girl, including abiding by their terms of etiquette, and even an option for setting up desired match with my current status as 'in relationship', is ridiculous.

The account was very polite and even charming at best. Personally, I know the specific user because we'd been chatting for a day and then she asked about why I'm on there even though I have a girlfriend, why I am searching for a bi-sexual girl and what polyamory means; since those are all options within profile setup. And then she flipped out on me saying that she's a moral person and thought that I was a creep. I'm sorry that some people aren't open minded, but this is the twenty-first century and I feel that this is an absolute discrimination to polyamorous couples and specifically bi-sexual woman. Simply appalling. I would like a refund for their service withdrawn.

2nd time I signed on, I was contacted by loads of scammers. They claimed that they live in U.S., self-employed, individual contractor, or military officer about to retire. They take me to Yahoo Messenger, Skype, or Viber, those free website for text or voice communication when they were "working abroad." Finally, he was in urgent to borrow money from me to return back to U.S. to visit me the first time. They even sent me fake flight tickets that everyone can get the screen shots for the tickets from an airline website before actually booking the tickets.

I am so tired of wasting my time and effort but only find out I was scammed. I feel at least 90% men contacted me on OkCupid are scammers. Their "U.S." Phone numbers could not be verified when I tried to pay for the background check service since they tend to use some type of VOIP service (instead of a regular carrier like AT&T, T-Mobile, or Verizon) that assigns an U.S. phone number in their chosen state or area code. I've been a member for about 2 months, and I've joined a few sites, as with many others OkCupid has a lot of robot profiles. The profiles are pretty obvious, they will have a few pictures stolen from Facebook or somewhere then have like 500 questions answered... or none. Also they will have conflicting information in their bio like, "I like to work out" then "Favorite food: ice cream or pizza". Or it will have a job like CNA referenced in the bio, then have administrative as the job type... Anyway, I digress.

The other night I chatted up a girl and it would take a long time to respond, and the grammar was way off, which would be fine if she wasn't supposed to be American. I chalked it up to her being busy and not paying close attention, but she would ask me questions, then seem busy, screwed up the grammar, and only half-way paid attention to what was written. It became obvious to me that the chat was being translated written, untranslated, edited then sent to me. We were kind of hitting it off and she was in the middle of chatting with me when I signed off.

Next Morning: Profile does not exist. She said she had been a member for 4 months and that we should talk again... Profiles not existing right after they pop up is a sure-as-fire sign that the profile was a bot. I guess I wasn't expecting OkCupid to go this far to lie to their customers and keep them signed up. So, FYI, this happens. OkCupid will contact you with a telemarketer to translate your chat and make you feel as if someone out there is showing interest.

I met a man on March 7th on okcupid. His name was **. ** something was his user name. He posted a picture of himself siting in a chair with a kitten in his lap. Well, within a week he was head over heals in love with me and a few days after that was asking for money. He said he was a doctor working overseas in Syria and was having some financial glitches in his pay. He needed help with things like toothbrush, toothpaste and so on. He said that $300.00 dollars would fix him right up. Against my better judgement I sent considerably less. I knew in my gut it was wrong but on that one percent chance I was wrong I went ahead.

After doing so and talking with friends, they actually found pre written cover letters that he changed the words slightly on. My heart and my ego are hurt way more than my pocketbook. I would like this man stopped before he hurts someone else. His MO is that he is an Orthopedic surgeon working for the UN overseas. Please help! Thank you!

I'm a woman who is frustrated with OKCupid for deleting my account for no reason. I've had my account for 1 day, only replied to messages (nothing sexual or spams - honest), been on 1 date. This has happened months ago. I assume I've been reported by a bitter person I did not respond to, but given OKC doesn't respond to my email, who knows? No customer service. Don't pay for an account because you'll get randomly deleted.

Was with OK Cupid couple years. Finally went paid ($70 annually) membership for added search functions. They locked me out once before but after contacting Google Play, they worked to get me reinstated. This time I am currently a paid member, and as of a week ago, could not log-in. They refunded my money, and after writing to ask what I'd done, never heard from them again. I want back in, but they can apparently identify IP address and won't create another account.

This can lead to identity theft or they say they are temporarily doing a project in Africa and they need money.

OK. I have to give it to them that OKCupid. It's a pretty decent online dating social network. But besides that they make it so hard that you can actually make your account work. I had a profile several months ago and then they just shut down my profile without a notice or a warning or at least an explanation!! I opened a second profile, because I must admit I like the website very much, and now my profile is still active, but I cannot send or receive any messages and I have no longer visitors. I know you don't get visitors ALL the time, but I know how it works and I know I get a profile view once in a while. Obviously I sent an e-mail, but OKCupid doesn't answer. I've been reading all these comments and I think we all have pretty much the same issue, so... what's the deal? I really wanna know.

I have been on and off of the site (usually as a paid member) for a couple of years now. While I did have the opportunity to meet a few truly amazing people from the site OK Cupid has become unusable recently. The site has become increasingly plagued by scammers and disgusting creeps. The free aspect of the site actually works against it. Too many losers and lunatics are on there now. The site is literally INFESTED with scammers. The scammers are pretty obvious because these thieves are clearly uneducated idiots. I don't know how they ever get any money from anyone considering what a sloppy job they do. Frankly, anyone stupid enough to buy what the scammers are selling deserves to be scammed. Yet, you can count on receiving MANY scammer messages per week.

OKC staff does not remove the scammers fast enough. Considering that the moderators are chosen randomly by the "Staff Robot" it is no surprise.

The rest of the site is predominantly: People who will never read a single word of your profile but will message you anyway regardless of the fact that your profile makes it very clear they are not what you are seeking. Profiles with no photos and/or information. Repulsive scumbags with no realistic sense of what losers they are trying to get laid. Fragile narcissists who will take time out of their useless lives to write you and inform you of their opinions about what they do not like about your profile. They take offense when you suggest that if they did not like your profile the healthy choice would have been to move on to another profile rather than investing so much time and energy into one that they clearly hated and disagreed with. So many people seem to NEED to be offended and angry and OKC is a gathering place for these cretins.

Lookie-loo lurkers and stalkers. These losers will never contact you but they will come back ad nauseum. The staff at OKC takes the side of these creeps and will admonish you if you write these freaks and tell them to stop. Apparently the OKC staff thinks you should just endure the abuse of these often times frightening creeps. I had several abusive stalker problems while on the site. Married men cheating on their partners. While there are many folks in honest open relationships on the site there are even more cheaters. You have to have a LOT of patience to be on OKC. After a while it just felt like digging through a very large pile of manure trying to find a pony. It was like playing a very disturbing game of Where's Waldo. It is too bad because I know there are some very interesting and worthwhile people on the site too but no intelligent and sane person can endure the trashy component for long.

For all you women out there please be a look out for this e-mail address. His name is ** and he is a scammer. I tried to contact okcupid to report him but was unable to do so since my account has been deleted permanently (I was not an a list member). I wish I could post a picture of him. All I can say is he claims to be living in Adams, or but is currently out of the country in Africa, Ghana building orphanages and will be back in the states in about 3-months. He will ask you for your private e-mail address to get you off the dating site, and then when you tell him all about yourself he will tell you how much he loves you and wants to marry you and spend the rest of your lives together as one and can't wait to meet you and your family.

He will treat you like a queen, etc., blah, blah, blah, reel you in. Don't fall for this ladies. He will ask for your house number. Can't give him a PO Box because he wants to mail you flowers and a ring to show how much he loves you and wants everyone to know you are his girl... Red flag: I didn't give him my address. I told him I didn't want him to mail me a ring. That should be something he should give me when we first meet in person. Guess what ladies? Haven't heard from him since that last e-mail.

DID some research on Google. Lots of information on scams and what to look for. I highly recommend you read the 9-tips and Dr. Phil on dating scammers. The things they identified was exactly what ** revealed in his e-mail communications the past month. I hope this information is helpful and will save some of you from any heart ache. OKC has the best matching system of all sites I've been on. If you answer enough questions, and the person you are interested in does the same, you find out dealbreakers quickly. It is important to me that a potential mate be an atheist or agnostic with somewhat liberal political views, if he wants kids, or really likes camping (I make it clear I only camp at Camp Hilton). Hunting is also a dealbreaker. Scammers, etc., are on every site. POF is worthless, too little info. Match seems directed toward young people. Chemistry was a complete joke because if they don't find what you are looking for or where, they send profiles of people in other states, don't consider religion. I never had a single match, and they gave me my unused money back. Ourtime: not edgy enough and not for atheists or liberals. Of all the sites I am on or have been on, OKC is the absolute best for matching. I find that if I look at profiles less than 80%, that guy is not for me.

Please don't tell me I am limiting myself too much. After 60 years, I know I cannot have a serious relationship with someone religious or conservative, who camps and hunts.

And don't forget to filter. That has been invaluable to me. You can also filter for number of questions answered by those who email you. I don't want to deal with anyone who has not answered at least 50 questions. I have asked many guys to complete at least 50 questions, and they refuse! These guys are looking for a piece, don't care what your answers are. They contact based on appearance.

On about 4 or 5 different occasions I have started a conversation with a woman; it went back and forth and all the sudden their profile was deleted. The first or second time I thought maybe they just blocked me or by mistake deleted their profile. But when it kept happening I started to find it a bit odd.

Now I am here and I read all these stories it just can't be coincidence. It is really frustrating how you spend all of this time looking for a good dating site, creating a profile, putting pics, editing, taking the quizzes, browsing potential matches, reaching out, waiting for replies, starting a convo, and all the sudden BAM... It's gone....

I'm actually one of those few guys who takes their time to read a woman's profile; it's very time consuming. Unbelievable when you actually realize how much time you spend on this site for there to be nothing at the end of the tunnel. I guess I am patiently waiting for my profile to be deleted or the moment when I find a match outside the web (actual real world). Let's see which one comes first!

Common things in fake men's profiles: They often check Native American as they think that means American born. They post either ridiculously low salaries or huge ones. Most often check that they speak English okay, not fluently. Pictures are often professional grade or good looking men with backgrounds that are not American. I was Googling for a phone number for OkCupid and found this site, and I see that many people are having the same problem I'm having. I had a profile on OkC for at least 10 years. I was even a paid A-list member for a few months this year. I was corresponding with lots of people lately. And then suddenly, this week I couldn't log in. Every time I tried, it said "Technical problems. Try again later." Or "Staff Robot had a meltdown. Try again later." But it's never worked again. A few women have emailed and Facebooked me, saying that it says my OkCupid profile has been deleted.

And as I see from all the complaints below, this has happened to many people. They haven't responded to my messages in the Contact section. I saw a woman below post a phone number, and I called it. It's the number for Match.com (of which I'm a paid member). The guy on the phone admitted that OkCupid is an affiliate of Match.com, but he said they don't deal with OkCupid issues. He even went to ask his manager about that. All he could give me was an email address: userfeedback@okcupid.com. Though I don't hold out high hopes for getting a response. It's unbelievable, this situation.

It took me a long time to answer the many OkCupid profile questions - I even had long write-ups explaining my answers for each one, and many women told me they appreciated my humor and effort. And my profile description itself was very long and carefully thought-out. And there were many people in my inbox whom I was hoping to meet up with in my town or other towns when I was travelling. (Note: I'm not some gigolo who's using women. In addition to searching for a partner, I like making new friends.) And now they think I've just disappeared. And it seems I can never get back my profile, all those profile questions, my write-up, years and years of inbox messages, and all those potential friends and girlfriends. I'm truly stunned. I guess this also explains why many times I started to talk to a woman and suddenly it said her profile was deleted. I found it odd that women were deleting their profiles so quickly after we started talking. (Insert "Was I the problem?" joke here.) I hope people read this story and don't waste their time signing up for OkCupid.

P.S. Oh, and just in case this whole story could maybe have a happy ending: If any women are reading this and want to add Josh ** to Facebook, maybe I'm the one for you and you can save yourself the trouble of online dating? I'm 42, live in Toronto, work as an advertising copywriter, and on the side I'm an actor, voice actor, comedian, cartoonist, singer/songwriter, screenwriter, politician, environmentalist. I emailed them twice about one profile. It took me maybe a minute to figure out that they were scammers. Google Image Search did most of the work for me. In some of the other profiles, just reading their messages was enough to let me know they were scammers. Poor grammar was obvious to me. I not only reported these profiles to them, but also emailed them twice regarding this. I heard back in regards to one of my emails with a pathetic apology...if that's what you want to call it.

There are thousands of women out there falling victims to these scammers. If Ok Cupid wanted to verify these profiles before they went live, they could. I know that would cost them money, but if they want to be a reputable site, they need to do just that. I know there are scammers on all of the dating sites as I have been on POF, and am currently on SeniorPeopleMeet. But to have at least 25 scammers contact me in a week is a bit too much! I just want women to know what Ok Cupid is all about and to steer clear of them. Women do need to educate themselves too. I get that. In the past couple months, I received emails from OKC for matches and something that said that we both listed that we liked each other's profile. I tried to be polite and contact most anyone who wrote me and if we were not a match, that I appreciated their interest in my profile, but I didn't feel we were a match.

Last week I had an email from OKC stating that this other profile and I liked each other's information. After looking at it and not remembering that I ever saw the profile, I wrote him back after seeing that religion was high on his list of desirable traits. Since I am non-religious, I wrote to thank him for his interest but we are not compatible. He then wrote me back, angry at me and telling me to take my godless self somewhere else. I was very confused over his response. I wrote him back telling him that he didn't have to be so hateful in his response and that I only contacted him because OKC said we both liked each other's profile. I don't even know if he received that email but I was banned from OKC immediately after contact.

Upon multiple failed attempts to log on, but not telling me that in actuality my account had been deleted, OKC just kept telling me only that the system is down. Yet someone else whom I have been corresponding with, said that when he went to log on to his account, he discovered that my account had been deleted. He had other contact information for me and thought I had banned him, until he finally took the chance to call me. Of course there is no way to communicate with OKC so I have no choice but to publicly complain.

The issue here is actually that I have discovered through major news sources that OKC has been mismatching people on purpose just to see what happens. This is a sort of experimentation, leading their customers to believe that the other person was interested in them or that they matched in algorithms. This is a blatant violation to all they stand for (proper matching according to answers) and then to have someone get mad at me for contacting them (out of courtesy) and have him file an anger complaint for contacting him. Well, this is just not right. I don't need to be part of an unauthorized experimentation and then suffer humiliation thinking that I was banned for something I did wrong.

If OKC wants to experiment with people's lives and trusted private information, I have wonder what ethics have evolved at OKC. Not only did it upset the person who I thought had an interest in my profile, but the one person who I had been corresponding with thought I had deleted him from further contact. So if you find that you are unable to log on, it's probably because you were banned, and in my case, for no reason at all.

I have invested a lot of time answering questions on OKC in hopes of finding a close match to my goals and beliefs. This is the reason I trusted OKC, because I thought they had some sort of a program which really matched answers. Now, none of it seems true. Being single is hard enough. Trying to find a suitable match is difficult. To have a web site play games with your heart, it's just plain...wrong.

The site has been down for almost 24 hours now. There is no customer service number you can call and no human to speak to. They are saying that their system is up on one screen but then when you go to log in, it states they're having technical problems. I have sent the HELP desk 4 messages and tried to log on from 3 different computers and it is certainly NOT on my end. I am at my wits end as all I want to do is to delete this pathetic site as it shameful as to what type of people they try to hook you up with. Most of the time, they are felons and I just want OFF like yesterday but can't get any help from anyone.

Like several others, my account was also deleted but, they did tell me why. I also did pay for a A-List account. "Your account was deleted because of inappropriate profile pictures you uploaded. If you were subscribed to A-List, we refunded your credit card for a prorated amount based on the time remaining in your A-List subscription. If you would like to contact us, visit **."

I replied to the link for feedback with the following: "Please help me understand this! I would like to know how either of the attached photos that I used on my profile could possibly be considered inappropriate, by anyone, or anywhere. The 1st is from a formal dinner night aboard a cruise and taken by a professional photographer. I have also checked the entire directory on my system that contained the pictures that I used. Disney would consider all photos in that directory appropriate for viewing by a 7 year old!

"Are you sure that some mistake has not be made here? I was very impressed with your dating site and would like to keep my A-List membership. Attached are the 2 photos I used on my profile. If the offending photo is not one of the enclosed, someone, somehow in your company has made a big mistake! If a reasonable explanation or proof that use of an inappropriate photo cannot be provided, I may consider consulting the BBB in this regard. Please be considerate and look into this issue. Would you also reply with the complete policy of what photos are not allowed for use on your site?"

A day later I received the following, with no sorry or reasonable explanation: "We had some technical difficulties with your account recently that may have prevented you from signing in. Sorry! Things should be patched up now, so give it another go!"

I have now discovered that the extras provided to A-List members has not been enabled for my account. I sent yet another email to them about this today.

OkCupid deleted my profile twice for no reason at all. I had notifications from the site in my email address, but when I went to log in it said tech difficulties. I waited for a while and all day it wouldn't let me log in. Luckily, I met a lady and got her phone number before it happened and she told me that it said I deleted or disabled my profile which was a blatant LIE!!!!! I think their endorsers should be contacted about this. I read several complaints like mine. If we contact their endorsers, they will lose money. Endorsers pay them to advertise to us. If they keep deleting people, there's no advertising.

It was recently on a Dateline/60 Minutes program. OkCupid collects and then sells your information to other companies. Possibly why everyone is being deleted is because they have captured your info and interests and no longer need you? Just a thought.

Same as everyone else - they deleted my account for no reason whatsoever. I'd only been on the site for maybe a week, hadn't yet put up any pics or profile into, but was talking to several people. Then the account was deleted. Seems like a scumbag company/site. Avoid.

So... I haven't had any disrespectful, harassing conduct. I had, as many, 2 pictures with my kids. Honestly didn't knew was disapproved. After having canceled the pictures, licit, it did also canceled the whole account. On the email I sent out afterward, I got this message: "Your account was deleted because of inappropriate profile pictures you uploaded." It frankly seems exaggerate having seen what other people puts out there. But I know they can be kinda callous. Though before they ask you to put a ton of work in your profile, then they cancel it... I think there was some sort of discriminatory attitude.

I had the OkCupid account for a while and always got bullying message from crazy people. So yesterday when I got another bullying message from a stranger who got infuriated after he read my profile and noticed that he might not be someone that I'm looking for, I decided to take a screenshot of what he wrote me and I posted what he wrote on my profile picture and I reported that to OkCupid. But instead OkCupid tried to protect me as a victim. They right away deleted my account. I wrote them at least three emails with this incident and also attached the screenshot of this crazy stranger's nasty message but they did not reply at all and just ignored me. OkCupid is letting those bullies barking like rabid dogs on other innocent users and let them run free while blocking the innocent ones. If anyone who want to sue this website, I'll be joining!

OkCupid for an unknown reason blocked my access to the site, and then eliminated my pics and profile. Days before when this happened last week, I had gone out with a woman who didn't like my politics. I passed it off. She was a Tea Partier. I'd just told her I didn't necessarily want to talk politics (this being a first date). Plus, I paid for a good part of the evening. Then she must have complained with some other story to OkCupid, and shortly thereafter they "eliminated" me. I couldn't get access, and a subsequent date with someone else told me my profile was no longer accessible. I had no recourse with OkCcupid. They would not clarify and would not respond to emails. They just eliminated me like the governments did to people in Latin America in the 60's.

I recently found out that an individual by the username of ** is using my photos on a dating website called OkCupid.com without my consent. I'm very uncomfortable with this. So, immediately, I tried to report the user through the website but nothing was handled. To enable this user's profile to be deleted, there must be a certain number of flags on her profile. I attempted to flag the user and I got some of my friends to do the same as well. I attempted to message the individual but the mailbox is currently full so I was unable to do so. I then emailed one of the staff members about the situation and they have yet to answer me back. This all took place on April 17th. The profile is still up and active. I wish to have the pictures removed immediately or the profile deleted.

On January 26, 2011 on okcupid.com, I was surprised with an email stating my photos were reported and deleted off the site. I couldn't understand why, I followed proper guidelines. To my next surprise, I received an email from a mature woman stating my profile is featured in another okcupid user's journal by the name Daavee, titled "And the psycho profile award goes to..." Once you clicked on that title, it would direct you to my personal page. I was enraged and afraid. I begged the user to please remove me from his page that he had no business with me. Instead I had to deal with comments full of profanity, abuse, and threats. Along with the my stolen photo being exposed and exploited for no reason, he made a link by the name "this is a mustache" in the journal and when you click this link, my photo appears.

Now my photo was being harassed as well. I scan through the journal to discover he is also degrading other female users' photos as well. I decided to report him and contact okcupid.com staff about this menace numerous times. My sister who was also a witness contacted OkCupid via email and phone with me but OkCupid owners and staff are ignoring me and the situation. I took it further by contacting the local news cable, Dell, DA office, authorities and my only solution is to take this to the NYPD detective squad and file a complaint and then go back to the DA office with it. Also, threats were said such as, "blood on the streets" and "I stole Josie's Ipaddress" etc. I was informed that the journal and my photo would be reposted and reappear later on. I am fearful of going through this torture again. Why should I have to be degraded, stressed out, threatened, and put up with sleepless nights, trying to take care of this harassment, when OkCupid should have taken care of it from day one.

Instead his page is still up and running while mine, the innocent one, is deleted and blocked.. It makes me believe it could be OkCupid staff sabotaging me. I wonder how many innocent women and victims this has happened to and they could not voice it. How would you feel if this was your wife, mother, sisters, daughter, or girlfriend going through this harassment. It is not fair and unjust. Isn't there a law on privacy whether it is on the internet or not? Why should I have to be exposed and harassed for no reason? This creep should not have my photo and play with it, or anyone else's. I have documented and filmed all evidence of these horrifying events.

I have started a video on Youtube of this discovery and more shall come. I have made a blog, no woman or person should have to be degraded and harassed on any site along with their identity in their photo being exposed. Please help me take care of this parasite and his followers because they are a menace to the internet. No one is safe while they are out there and getting away with this. Harmful cyber bullying needs to be put to an end immediately. OkCupid should be taken off the internet because they do not care for the users, there is no hotline to call when issues arise and emailing them is an obstacle especially that this is considered an emergency.

I also sent them urgent messages and went further by contacting them on Facebook. Why aren't any of them resolving this matter? Since this incident, my friends are fearful of this website and have since deleted their accounts because they do not want their photos abused by whomever these hackers are. I am also blocked from the site and can not access it when I need to because I have another account that I desperately need to delete before Daavee and his parasites find this one as well and bully it. I don't understand how OkCupid staff can block me from their dating website but not remove a user that is a possible threat to women.
