Methodology
This analysis is based on the latest 2024 data from NeighborhoodScout’s property crime database, which tracks 629 U.S. cities. Property crime rates per 1,000 residents are sourced directly from NeighborhoodScout, allowing for standardized comparisons across cities with varying populations. The map highlights the 40 cities with the highest and lowest rates, while the full analysis includes all 629 cities.
