TracFone Wireless provides basic cellphone services. While their pricing is affordable the phone service itself would at best be described as adequate. Their customer service however is nearly non-existent. Be prepared to waste hours and go through 6 representatives before you get to the one rep that actually knows their job and how to do it. Shout out to Alejandro probably one of the only reasons TracFone still has customers and undoubtably underpaid. After all if they treat their customers this poorly one can only imagine how they treat their workers.

My Tracfone recently stopped working. I bought a new phone from AT&T with the intention of porting my existing number to it. I've spent almost 3 hours talking to 4 different Tracfone reps and they still won't allow my number to be ported. One rep said he'd escalated my case and someone would call me back - they didn't. Another hung up on me after more than an hour on the phone. They sent one pin by email that didn't work. Nothing they try works. When I ask to talk to a supervisor or have my case escalated, they say they can't, and there is nothing more they can do to help me. This has been a nightmare, and it looks like I will have to start with a new phone number, which will be a HUGE inconvenience.

I bought a TracFone through their website and here lately when I tried to make a phone call or when someone tries to call my number, they hear that my phone has call restrictions (WTH). And when I try to get in contact with tech support and provide them with an alternative number, they say that they will call back in 15 minutes (well they never do), and when I am chatting with them on the TracFone App, they tell me that they got the problem fixed and for me to reboot my phone (I don't know what planet they are on), but my problem isn't fixed... And then I get a text saying that they tried to deliver a text, but my account has been deactivated or doesn't have enough funds (funny thing is my account service doesn't expire until the 12 of June)!!!! MY ADVICE IS TO STAY AWAY FROM TRACFONE, THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS!!!

I had to borrow a phone to call customer service because my phone was completely dead. I couldn't even get wifi on it. I used my friend's Tracfone to call, which is in the same house, so the issue was not having no signal, which Tracfone stated was the problem in their response to my BBB complaint. Calling customer service required being on hold for extended periods of time, being disconnected, calling again, then speaking with someone whom I was unable to understand. Called again, and another person answered, and that person was also not understandable.
This took approximately 6 hours, and the phone was not fixed. Called back the next morning and the agent was able to fix the phone in five minutes. This type of customer service is totally unacceptable. English was not any of the agents' primary language. An agent also left a message on my phone afterwards and I was unable to understand it as it was unintelligible. It sounded like a foreign language.

I was a customer of Tracfone for many years. When they merged with Verizon, I was sent a Verizon Sim card to replace my Tracfone Sim card. It never worked. Me & my husband spent over 9 hours on the phone with Tracfone trying to fix this situation so I would have service on my phone. All I did was get transferred to different reps every call, with no one helping the situation. I finally opened a report with the FCC to help because at this point Tracfone could not give me service (no incoming, no outgoing calls could I make, no internet....nada) yet they also could not release my phone # or provide me with a passcode to have my line ported to another carrier. They would not refund any of the minutes I had on the phone despite Tracfone not being able to give me any service. I still cannot believe that they would not refund me when it was solely their fault I had no service at all.

I have been a Tracfone user since they came to the US. We have moved several times. Their phone service has greatly improved over the years. We live in a very rural area and up to about 4 yrs. ago could not get reception at the house (everywhere but). Customer service used to be very good as well. Not so much now. I tried to log in to my acct. twice only to be told my password was invalid. So, I reset and still no luck. Clicked on live chat. Twenty minutes and 2 verification codes later they said I would have to call Customer Service. Jumped through a few hoops with the next guy who started giving me a bunch instructions. Said he couldn't just send me a temporary password. My hand's in cast and I'm tired. Will be shopping tomorrow.

I used Tracfone for years with a relatively positive experience. The big problem was the network. Told them for years that Verizon doesn't work in the rural area where I work. Any CDMA phone got one bar if I was lucky and no service much of the time. So I always bought GSM phones. But now Tracfone has partnered with Verizon and we were forced onto that network which I kept telling them doesn't work here. There are other low-cost services that allow access to better networks, so I'm sure I'm not the only one who left Tracfone to get a service that would actually work. They limited themselves to a narrower customer base. I now have an AT&T network service that's working great and very inexpensive with no contract.

Paid $199 for a one-year plan of 'unlimited' calling/text included in price, per description. One month plus + 3 days BEFORE stated on home page and payment records -end of service - 'unlimited' calls are recorded at [0] remaining. Not the definition of 'unlimited' to be found in Websters, Concordia or any other possible version of dictionary nor fact. The person on customer service was an utterly pointless experience. Could not justify how 'unlimited' could run out before end of service date. She said she was 'connecting' with persons 'higher up' and literally just putting her headset on hold and returning to repeat same nonsense.

I bought new 1-year airtime and 2000 minutes. It appeared at the Tracfone app but it stayed the phone is inactive. When I called somebody it said only the old, left 60 mins. So I asked an American friend to call the customer service, because my English is not so good. We spoke to 3 different representatives. With the first one we spoke about an hour. Then he told us he has to find out the problem, he will call back in 20 minutes. Never did.
The second one finished the call after a while. The third one could not help either, spoke so quick, that my American friend either could hardly understand. At the end, he also stopped. All texts (had more than 5000, I only use very few) were gone and the data were reduced from 4.99 GB to 3.99 GB- and the complete account was blocked. We asked several times for the phone number of a Tracfone Manager, but never gave it to us. Never Tracfone again!!!! Now we use Yolla for our international calls.

I could give this phone away to a homeless person, and he'd give it back. Utterly useless. I had a problem while in roaming mode, after TWO WEEKS of calling and waiting for a response, I actually solved it myself. Until then the phone didn't work at all. It didn't work when I needed it most, a family member was hospitalized out of town and I couldn't use the phone at all. So, I can't port my number without the account number which they have but will not tell me even though I called them from my phone and they verified I was me.
This is the most fouled up service I've seen- ever. If the account number is not available to me on my webpage and I can't get the account number from them how do you port a number? As much as I hate to say this, the FCC should step in and force Tracfone to make sure that your account number is on the webpage. I've never had an account with ANYONE that didn't have the account number available on billing or on the account page. NEVER. Except- TRACFONE. I'm somewhat annoyed that you can't give them a ZERO. Instead of a 1 to 5 scale it should be a NONE to 5 scale.

Between endless transfers, it takes hours for them to understand and accomplish what should be rudimentary for agents working for a cellphone company. Tracfone has the worst customer service of the cellphone providers I've used. Chat is unable to help with most issues. The call center hires people who don't know what they're doing and don't care, and it's all done overseas - possibly with bad training and very low pay, so that the caller is stuck with the worst, most spiteful, slowest of customer service representatives who may not even speak the same language well enough.

Renewed my prepaid phone service just to have it not work since "reactivation." Used their website chat service to try to get help - got walked through a tedious "troubleshoot" process where they talk down to you and treat you like an idiot. When the process doesn't work- because their service doesn't work- they tell you they have to escalate the issue and will call you back: and they never do. So when you call them, they walk you through the whole "troubleshooting" again- the whole time being condescending and sarcastic and then asking you why YOU're giving them an attitude when you get upset with theirs.
Waste an hour of your time, don't fix the problem, don't provide you with a reference/case number, don't provide you with the fix they arrived at: which is to send you a new SIM card forcing you to call back to 2 weeks later, be troubled to go through the whole tedious thing again - only to be told THIS time that "you brought you own phone so you need to PURCHASE a new SIM card, and then call back to set that up when you do." Mind you, my current device and SIM card were working before I renewed my service.

Customer service agents quote wrong prices to unlock phones. Was told $20 and then charged $25. After the two days phone is still not unlocked and they are saying we need to wait another 24hrs. When you ask to speak to a supervisor to file a complaint the agents say they are not allowed to transfer to supervisors. It’s part of their policy. I put up with it because it is the cheapest cell phone provider. If they don't know or understand a problem, they lie and try to get the customer which I am, off the phone as soon as possible. I got a Samsung AO3s few months ago. Early on it showed very few icons, but the telephone function was very good. Eventually their phone support children from somewhere in/near the Pacific Rim told me it couldn't be fixed, send the phone back. Instead, I guessed that icons didn't show [& couldn't be accessed, even though they were already on the phone], because early on, I had set it in a dark mode. I had no data, but somehow I was able to turn off the dark mode and after that the many other ICONS showed and everything worked and things were fine for a few weeks.... but... not so fast!!
A few weeks later, suddenly none of those ICONS did anything, they stopped working, tho they were still visible [again the telephone part phone still worked quite well]. Once again, I have wasted many hours struggling with these poorly informed children. Once again I was told to send it back to Tracfone and they will send me a new phone. They sent me U.p.s. materials and this time I did send the phone back, but no new phone arrived. I have got nothing but a very irritating runaround ever since. They said they already sent the new phone and supplied a supposedly u.p.s. tracking number, but the number doesn't work, and the local u.p.s. staff say it isn't one of theirs. Nobody can do anything. This is idiotic!
They claimed they had to confirm I am the account holder and that they emailed me [several times] a code to confirm this, but no email came. They refused to tell me the email address they sent it to. They said they would text me a code for same, but only to the phone they "sent me," no other phone.. but they never got that phone to me, so who knows if that phone got a code?? Likewise my "4 number code" didn't work [I tried several].
Their system of bungling and pathologically phony politeness is useless. The kids are incompetent, probably due the company doesn't properly train them, as I doubt any youngsters in these times could be so totally incapable on their own. Over time I talked to various of these youngsters and frequently got contradictory information. Unless I get this fixed fast they can put that phone "where the sun doesn't shine" [if they ever find it], & I will not spend another penny with this company. Recently I updated my TracFone and it no longer allowed access to the internet or my Yelp account, etc.
I phoned TracFone on December 24, 2022 and had the rudest customer service agent. I explained that I was unable to properly use my new smartphone that I just upgraded from Best Buy and she didn't seem to care at all. Have been using Tracfone for maybe nearly 15 years. Never had much an issue till recently (last week to today). I barely use the phone; either voice or data. Almost never use text (sms). I only use data sporadically when I am away, but typically for things like email, gps, etc, which consume very little bandwidth. Last week, after a system update (to android 12) over the air pushed to my phone my LTE data (or internet) simply stopped working, so I had to call Tracfone several times to address the issue:
1 call) spent about 45min over the phone while the agent did all sort things trying to fix the problem to no avail, then at the end the agent told me that I could hang up and that in about 15 minutes my LTE data would be in working order again (after the updates he had performed would enter into effect). Suffice to say that after 15min, 1hour, 24hours, etc, there was no LTE data on the phone.
2nd call) Spent about 30 min and about the same situation as the first case/call. But seemed to be a higher-tier support.
3rd call) Spent about 30 min. again with higher tier support and was told to wait about 15 min after end of call. There were LTE bars on my phone but I had no data. Upon checking my account found out that my data allotment was zeroed out which made no sense whatsoever since I had plenty of data credits in my account.
4th call) Spent about 30 min. and my previous data allotment seemed to have been restored and the LTE data feature on my phone was finally working again.
Then found out that credit for text message (sms) credits was simply zeroed out. That seemed crazy given that I almost never use text and had lots of credits for text accumulated in my account. Then, called Tracfone yet again and was told repeatedly that my credit for text was zero because it was used up. Spent over 45 min with this absolutely insane non-sensical agent until couldn't take it anymore. That was the most absurd and obtuse experience I have ever had with any phone company. I have been a customer with Tracfone for almost 10 years. Every year in June I add $100 and get Triple minutes and texts plus my minutes and texts rollover. I currently must have about 7000 minutes and texts available to use. I don’t have much data, since I mostly use Wifi so it also rolls over. I live in Canada and since about 2015 have been a snowbird.
I have had a few issues over the years when they have upgraded to 3G and 5G networks. They did this while I was in Canada when I could not do the upgrade as the phone stops working at the border. So I would be anxious about whether the phone would work when I arrived back in the US. Some of the features I did not like, but tolerated was I could not text a Canadian phone and had to use a toll-free number to call Canada. I called this number and then needed to type in the Canadian number. It was a hassle, but it used the minutes as if I called a US number. I was able to call my friends and family in Canada so it worked.
I returned to US a few days ago and tried to make a call to a Canadian phone. When I called the toll-free number the call did not go through. After talking to at least 5 customer service people and spending several hours doing so, I became most frustrated, I could not resolve this issue of losing free access to calling Canada. I tried to explain that I have been doing this for years. The only response I got from them is that no such plan exists and I need to pay $10/month to add this service.
When I asked them to check the history, they told me they did and could find any history showing I called Canada. It still makes no sense to me. When I did ask to speak to a supervisor, I was told they are not allowed to transfer calls. When I asked if a supervisor could call me back, I was told I would hear from someone in 10-15 minutes, but never received a call. I sent some emails and did hear back from someone the next day. However, I was told the same thing - no such plan has exists or has existed and I need to pay for Global calling at additional cost of $10/mo.
I feel like I am in the twilight zone. If they told me that they had changed the plan, that would make sense. I may not like it, but it would explain why I can’t call Canada now. But to say I have never been able to do this when I know I have makes me feel like they are saying I am lying. I don’t think I have ever received such poor customer service ever. I am not sure if it is the fault of the staff I talked to. They are doing what they have been told to do. It appears to me that this is what management asks them to do. This is only speculation, though.
The good news is that once this happened, I searched the internet and found a company that has a much better plan for me - monthly cost of $10/mo, unlimited texts and calls within US and to Canada, no contract and can cancel anytime. I will not renew and hope that I will be able to unlock my phone and transfer my phone number to another carrier. Tracfone did not seem to care if I took my business elsewhere but I hope they do not make it hard to transfer. If I am able and have some new information, I will add comments about the transfer. It looks to me like there are much better options out there so I advise people to stay clear of Tracfone. I have a new Motorola Android G7 cell phone that is around 5 months and a half old. This phone is covered with the company warranty. My cellular phone device doesn't have good coverage in certain parts of New York City, sometimes I'm not even able to dial calls or receive calls in certain areas. There is also something wrong with my phone screen.
I called TracFone Wireless technical support. They promised me that they were going to send me a replacement smartphone but they are not keeping their word or promises. They are not sending me the phone and the prepaid postage label. This is very wrong from this phone company. I have been calling for around 6 days, they keep telling me that the phone and the postage label are arriving but I haven't received any package tracking number or any email message confirmation. I think they are lying to me when I'm calling them.
They told me over the phone that they sent me this email message with the tracking number information around 5 or 6 times but I haven't still received anything. I got a very mean lady from The Philippines last Friday, she was providing me wrong information and she refused to transfer me to her supervisor. She was using tactics to avoid that I will talk with the supervisor. I really need my replacement phone but they don't seem to care. I always get people located overseas and I can't reach anybody in The United States by phone. I think all the agents are located in The Philippines. I read some complaints from other consumers who are also experiencing problems with this company.

I have used Tracfone off and on for over 20 years, happily, without issue and reasonable customer service! HOWEVER, in the last 2 years things have changed and Tracfone has simply failed. Tracfone has become a customer service nightmare, problems redeeming airtime cards, the website often has issues, chat support is available 7 days a week...BUT often it's NOT actually accessible. IF you need support be prepared to be for a headache, to be transferred MANY times and stay on hold for hours upon hours WITHOUT resolution! Customer service will flat out lie to you on the phone to get rid of you: Example: "no problem, absolutely we can do that, I just need to transfer you to the correct department." Then with the next transfer or call the new representative has to tell you, "No. We can't do what you were just told." Tracfone has become a bad joke! If you need to EVER contact support don't get tracfone...even "limited" support services like Mint Mobile are better!

I signed up with Tracfone for the lower cost, but what it cost me in stress was not worth it. Every time I tried to use the website to add data, I had problems. Often I could not complete this task. Every time I called customer service, I got someone reading from a script who could not answer questions directly. Frequently I would try to sign in and it would say my account could not be validated. Or you sign in, and then try to add data, and then it asks you to sign in again, but then it doesn't work. Customer service could not resolve this after hours on the phone. I just changed to a different company, and it took me 4 hours to get my phone unlocked and port the number, mostly because of Tracfone's obstructive policies. They don't provide you an account number. Instead, they use the phone's IMEI number. They refuse to tell you this number. They send text messages that contradict each other. I have never had a worse experience.

I had been a customer of Tracfone for over 20 years. Recently I experienced difficulties with my phone and I had to send it to them for a replacement phone. They received my phone on September 30th and I was to expect a replacement phone in 3 to 5 business days. I made numerous calls to their customer service number and was told that everything was on track to receive a phone in 3 to 5 days. More time passed and I kept calling to try and find a status of the replacement phone. Nothing had been done. All they could do was note the file and then tell me that it should be 3 to 5 days. I spoke to their Corporate office on October 13th and was informed that a step was missed, nothing had been done, but they would note the file and expect a phone in 3 to 5 days.
Hearing nothing, I called again October 18th and I was told the same thing. I asked to speak to someone who could assist me in this matter but was told that there was no one. I asked the Corporate Service individual if this matter could be escalated to the proper area so that a phone could be sent out. He said all he could do was to note the file. I wanted to buy a phone and send them the bill but that was not an option either. At this point, I did not think that I would ever receive a replacement phone from them. I enrolled in Mint Mobile. Of course, I had to purchase a new phone with them and enroll with them. All of this was at my expense. I lost over 5 months of service with Tracfone and the expense of a new phone. There was no customer service at all.
I cannot believe that no one could help me out and that the matter could not be escalated to someone who could help me. Certainly, this is a "black eye" for them. No one should ever experience what I did. The consumer should explore all of their options before enrolling with Tracfone. It is a shame and I am really disappointed with them. I did write a couple of letters to their office regarding this matter. I can only hope that Management takes this to heart and looks in to this matter. I would not want something like this to ever happen to any customer again.

1) Purchased phone with "what's in the box" description including a charger. None was in the box. 8+ calls over 2+ months to TracFone's numerous "customer service" agents resulted in many promises of "it will arrive in 3-5 days." It never did. Final call ended with agent saying that I would have to buy my own charger and that "there is no record of those conversations"!!! That's possibly true since there seems to be no documentation/record kept of the conversations -- I had to repeat the same story every time I called. The same agent asked me for any phone #s that I had contacted (possibly to validate the "will be sent" promise), and when I provided one with an extension, I was told "that's not a viable number" even though I had made contact with an agent using it. Several Tracfone-initiated call-backs put me on hold to "wait for the next available agent"!!! Was also provided with incorrect "ticket number" for the item.
2) Returned from trip overseas (the phone worked fine) only to find NO connectivity: phone, Gmail, internet. Again, numerous calls over 2 days to resolve the issue. Varying results from varying agents: phone works but no internet connection, internet connection but no phone connection, nothing works after phone is turned off and then on. Final agent was able to resolve the problems. Among other issues, one of the previous agents had cancelled my service plan!!

Have used TracFone for years but may not for much longer unless things change for the better. TracFone has gone from a good company to bad in terms of service and customer support. They can be great for non contract phone service but their customer support is atrocious and the website for the company has become devastatingly unusable following an update to the TracFone website which has made it difficult to add time, activate/re-activate phones, or get customer service harder than before the major overhaul of their website.
Was far better to do things before the change and getting any form of customer support with clear English speakers is very difficult. Depending on which network towers they are using for their service you can have good to non-existing service and not all zip codes in the United States are recognized such as the zip code where I live which puts me constantly into roaming when at home which costs more minutes than it should.
The company NEEDS a serious overhaul from top down where they put the customers and service connectivity first as it used to be. The problems they have now need to be dealt with so the usability of both the phones and their own website are corrected and made more engaging again as it was before the overhaul which destroyed the usability of the website to unmanageable levels.

My wife and I are octogenarians. We've had a pair of Tracfone flip phones for years, primarily for emergencies, and we usually renewed our airtime service a year at the time. Recently, I obtained an iPhone and am still trying to learn to use it. Meanwhile we still maintain our Tracfone service. A while back Tracfone we learned that Tracfone's 3G service would end and that we had to upgrade our phones to continue usage, and Tracfone offered a free replacement phone. I obtained an updated flip phone and activated it for my wife and transferred her remaining service time to it. And I obtained a compatible smart phone for myself but did not attempt to activate it or transfer service time to it at the time as I was busy playing with my iPhone.
A couple of days ago I decided to activate the Tracfone smart phone and transfer my remaining minutes and service days to it. I found the Tracfone website vastly changed from my last visit, virtually unusable. I did, however, succeed in transferring my phone number to the new smart phone, but I was unable to transfer service. A screen message informed me they could not complete my request and that I should try later or call a number that was provided. Next night I tried again with the same results, so I called the number prescribed.
Long story short, I was connected with a service rep who seemed willing to help, but, unfortunately, I could not understand his foreign dialect. In the end I simply gave up and hung up. After ending the phone call, I checked the new smart phone status (by texting BALANCE to 611611) and a reply text message showed that my remaining minutes had in fact been transferred to the new phone BUT MY APPROXIMATELY 8 MONTHS OF REMAINING SERVICE DAYS had not. To the contrary, the report stated that my service ended 6/28/22, which is the date of our conversation. In other words, the rep activated the phone for the one day we were talking, and, as it stands, I am cheated out of about eight months service time.
I tried the chat function on Tracfone's website - so as to maybe get around the language barrier - but it would not work at all. I filled in the chat form with the requested information, but there was no automatic response and no 'send' or 'submit' button. I sent an email to an address I found in Google search results but have not received a response (and don't know for sure if the email address is valid tho the email did not bounce). I've given them a lot of money over the years, and I've had emergency phone service until now. But the website and the customer service have, in my opinion, gone to pot.

All 3 were ordered online. Well assuming I owed the phones since I paid for the phones, that's a joke.. You have to pay 150 dollars per line to unlock the phones. Hmm.. Phones I paid for upfront, no contract on a month to month service? Odd because my AT&T phone once it was paid off was mine and I ported it so how is it that this company owns your phone even though you pay for it upfront..
Apparently when you buy a Tracfone you have to keep it for a year before switching which is absurd for a prepaid non contract company to do. The plans cost more with less data. Tracfone has upgraded their service to voLTE, or to HD voice. Apparently, many customers received notices that their phones were not compatible with the new upgrade. So, Tracfone offered some of these customers new voLTE phones while supplies lasted. My phone did not meet the new service requirements, so I attempted to secure a new phone through the Tracfone chat line by talking to a service agent. The agent attempted to order a phone but she was stopped in her tracks by a computer message that said all of the phones I was eligible for were "incompatible with my zip code." Therefore, she could not process the order. While I was negotiating with this agent the stock of phones was depleted by other customers. So I no longer qualified for any free phone offers.
Later, I talked to several "resolution" experts who told me my only option was to purchase a voLTE phone. So I purchased a Samsung Galaxy S9 fully GSM unlocked phone with a Android 10 operating system. The phone was LTE, voLTE, capable and worked fine with the ATT tower I was connected to. I got excellent HD voice, texts, and data. I used the phone with my old Tracfone sim card from my previous phone for three months without a glitch. Then, as my service was nearing the expiration date, I decided to contact Tracfone to have the service transferred to my new phone. Then I hit a roadblock. Even though the phone worked without a glitch, Tracfone said the Galaxy S9 was not compatible with their "upgraded" towers, even though it was fully GSM unlocked.
When I used the Galaxy S9 it was fully provisioned. The voLTE switch was toggled on. The IMS status was fully registered. There was no excuse for the Tracfone computer to say that the IMEI number and SIM card number was incompatible with the system. Basically, I think Tracfone Wireless was only going to accept fully carrier locked phones. The service agents were paid a commission to sell these phones. So the agents fabricated tales to prevent other phones from being registered in the system. Apparently, older customers, had no options but to upgrade to a carrier locked Tracfone. The only option I qualified for was a very expensive iPhone XR, costing $400.
Any other phone I offered as a replacement for my old obsolete phone would have been rejected by Tracfone as incompatible with the system. So, I told the agent that Tracfone obviously no longer desired my business and that I would be seeking cell phone service elsewhere. I had a huge surplus of call minutes, texts, and data, which I paid for in good faith, which will go to waste, simply because Tracfone no longer desires my business. Verizon Wireless who owns Tracfone is making a gigantic error by driving the old faithful customer base away from their carrier. I have never been so frustrated with a company and have never been treated with such disdain. I wish Tracfone well, but as a customer, I am through.

I have had TracFone for over a year. I thought they were good but then my phone stopped letting me make calls and I had doctor's office calls saying my phone was out of service when I had 5 bars. Called customer service for help. Was on the phone for an hour and 32 minutes before I got to representative. He started troubleshooting my phone. It was still doing nothing and not working. He then told me he was going to transfer me to another representative for help and I told him do not put me on hold again. Of course he said he was transfer me to a live agent. I was put on hold again and then they hung up on me. After an hour and 56 minutes total. Switching carriers.

I have been a Tracfone customer for many years and never had a problem. Now for the last month I've been trying desperately to purchase a new phone from them since mine is on its last leg. When I originally tried to make this purchase they removed the money from my account and held on to it for a week. Then tried to tell me there was a problem with my bank. They told me to try again and it should work fine. So I did. The same exact thing happened again. Once I again I tried calling them to figure out why they won't allow me to make this purchase. Yet again they blamed my bank. It is an absolute joke. I purchased my last phone with this same card on this same account. Now they are trying to tell me there is a problem. Obviously they have no interest in helping anyone if they have no interest helping someone who has been a customer for 10+ years. Save yourself the trouble and pick a different phone service.

Updated on 04/01/2022: Continued unavailability to activate a phone my mother purchased new through major online company. Spending way too much time trying to access any method Tracfone claims we can contact them. Always buffered by computerized robot that doesn't allow you to complete process. Finally found a way to possibly access a human voice by calling. Waited 40 min. on hold just to be told I would need to speak to another department. I begged him to not get me hung up on, but they hung up on me anyway!
This was after I had tried to wade through text msg. assist where I managed to wade all through the questions entering serial # and let me enter my confidential Credit Card info just to tell me my phone wasn't activated. When I clicked on the link to RE-ENTER all the info I just went through, it sent me to a "page not found" dead space. They claim they have an email address to contact them but don't provide one. Even had another cell service employee check the website & he couldn't find one either. Serious incompetent business.
Original Review: Filled in all the information and serial number to activate a phone and hoped to transfer a previously used phone number. Not hearing any response nor activation in 24 hours so trying to contact to have someone on the phone help me through activation if we can't have old number. No matter what method I try, phone, chat, text - all suggested by company there is nobody available to speak, chat nor message me back to solve my problem. Activating a phone does not take 24 hours to a week to activate. It should be automatic.
Pathetic computerized voice at phone number that says I can speak to customer service, but I need to answer questions. It leads me into a dead end to nowhere and then hangs up on me. No button on live chat to submit the questions they ask - leads to dead end contact option. Text 611611 isn't any better. Clicked on the link the message sent me and it sends me back to a screen telling me the three options to contact and nobody to message me back. Totally disgusted!!!!

I recently (3 weeks ago) purchased a Tracfone and could not activate the new phone over the web using my existing tracfone number. After spend 2 full days (7-8 hours each day) on the phone and on the chat (sometimes simultaneously) I was told that the brand new phone was defective. I spent about half of my time on hold waiting for "the next level" support - which NEVER answered. All "hold" phone calls are routed back to first level support -- and usually to a person that speaks less English than the previous operator! I sent the brand new "defective" phone back and had to wait almost 3 weeks to receive the replacement. The replacement phone that I received was a USED, supposedly refurbished phone.
I have just spent another 5 hours on the phone with tracfone (same as before - each operator's English was worse and still getting transferred back to first level support when I dared to ask for second/third level) in an attempt to get this one working -- only to be told that this phone is defective and that I will have to ship it back and WAIT (and wait...) for another replacement. Meanwhile, I have no service and the 5800+ minutes that I have bought and paid for in my previous years with tracfone are sitting unused. With that many minutes, I am beginning to suspect that the corporate attitude is "Hey, we already have this suckers money, why give him service?"

Rather than do that, I tried to switch my phone and number to another carrier. Numerous attempts failed on various errors, and Tracfone customer service was practically no help. I needed my account number; they would not give it to me. I needed my zip code; at first, they didn't tell me it had to be the zip code when I first got the number with another carrier 15 years ago. When they finally told me that, they would not give me the zip code. They hung up on me many times. First, Tracfone deleted my review at their site. I've been a long term subscriber. The phone broke the power connection part which of course cannot be replaced without a lot of money. Got another phone, not tracfone (TF) but needs a TF SIM card. I ordered on from TF w/ 1-3 days delivery. Time had passed and called TF from another phone and got placed on terminal hold, gave up. Tried their "chat". Jerome kept telling me to do things I had already done, repeatedly. He said "just wait and maybe it will show up." Are you kidding? Tried another, "Wendy" but same thing until their "hours available" standard message popped up and then nothing. I re-engaged and after further discussion I was told to "turn off the phone, pull and re-insert the SIM." Had to remind them "I don't have a SIM card, that's why I'm, calling."
TF does everything they can, I think to keep costs down and they've cut too many corners. Hardware is cheapest possible, service availability at a minimum and help for questions beyond more than the very basic not there. If you need a reliable phone with predictable support, there's others. I am switching to another no contract carrier today. For a few extra dollars save yourself days of frustration and do not use Tracfone.

My 3G flip-phone was cut off without notice - I had seen a notice that Verizon had purchased Tracfone; however the cutoff date listed was 12/2022 - not February 2022. I received nothing from Tracfone. I called Tracfone - getting to an agent took me over an hour. Agent said I could receive new flip phone or Smartphone. Do not want Smart phone. Then was charged $4.95 per phone (2) for "expedited" mailing of new phone. Told to "call Tracfone to set up your new phone". I called on March 10 - 2 hours total - "okay, phone is set up but must speak with another office to transfer your minutes - they are not responding - please call back tomorrow".
Friday, 3/11/2022 - over two hours on landline - same story - customer service must speak with another department to verify your minutes (14,949. 10minutes) and transfer them - disconnected 3 times final result - again - no answer from 'other department' Saturday, 3/12 - 5 hours on landline - bad connection - other department has 'phone problems' - can arrange for you to call new number with Ticket number - Sunday, 3/13 - called Direct Response department - this time, after over an hour - "I spoke with other department - you have NO minutes to transfer - sorry, would you like to purchase?" I obtained operator name and name of 'other department - "Loss Prevention". This is NOT a small amount of money invested - this is almost $500 stolen.
The same thing occurred in 2017 with my "only" smartphone - sudden disappearance of over 4,000 minutes, over 5,000 data items, and a year's subscription! That is over $1000! Company is listed in Florida - check with State shows multiple name changes, multiple inactives and the same address for all concerned. Occasionally I would have to replace our phones due to SIM card issues and poor reception even though I live in a highly populated area in south Florida. Sometimes the phone I had would no longer work due to changes in their operational system, each time at my expense. Dealing with CS reps was a real trial of patience as they spoke English poorly and/or couldn't resolve the problem. On one of our phones I had to call the company (vs doing it on the phone itself) to add time/days with the prepaid card I purchased. This happened every time. A real pain.
The last straw was when they didn't support the 3G phones we had. They were supposed to supply new phone at no cost. I've spent many hours on the phone to CR reps and online to do this without results. This is because to finalize the process the replacements, you have to enter a code that they send you. Only problem is that they send it to the tracfone that no longer works thus you never get the code. They have never been able to send the code to my email address or another phone that's operational. I spent two weeks trying to get this done. I now feel that it's a scam to get you to quit trying so they will never have to honor their commitment. Their info as was the info on national news that only G3 service was to be affected. I contacted 4 independent Techs and my son who works in I.T. for a large international company and they as well as several sales reps at companies like Walmart, Target, and Best Buy told me that there was no reason that the phone I had should not work, but that some features may not be as fast.
I contacted TF and was told that I was qualified to receive a free replacement phone and that I'd receive an email confirming when it was shipped, but no such email ever arrived. Long story short, they disabled my ability to make voice calls on February 22, but the DATA and TEXT still appear to be working just fine and I continue to send and receive text messages.

I had TracFone for a number of years. I rarely used it as it remained in my car and was solely for emergencies or when I might not have access to another phone. Because of the infrequently of use I cannot complain, or really comment on, the quality of service. It was available when needed and seemed to perform adequately. However, I decided not to renew service in September and received a cancellation confirmation when I closed the account. However, the emails (spam) continued as though I was still a customer. I did an online chat, sent emails, unsubscribed and called the 800 number (numerous time) in an attempt to stop the spam. However, Tracfone continues to ignore my requests to stop sending spam regardless of how I’ve made the request.
Calling the 800 number is the worst as they have insufficient trained representatives who speak broken English, have, or say they have, no access to account information, no current equipment information and seemingly no desire to do anything but upsell you to the required new equipment. Wait time for customer service call be in excess of 45 minutes only to have them tell you that they cannot do what you want and need. I cannot save contacts to SIM so the first time I wash this or drop it in the creek I lose everyone. It has very difficult and complicated voicemail. Everything is nearly impossible to find that I need, and I don't need much. What I need is a PHONE, not a computer! And I cannot hear it and have yet to figure out how to turn on the speaker!
So now I have no phone to use and I wasted hours and hours of time and trouble, and money. And a 24 hour (so far) migraine from trying to make it work, which it just doesn't. I had just become one of the top sellers for the company I worked with and thought I could get by without having to have a cellphone. I was tired of making sure no one stole the cell antenna off the Mercedes... It was ridiculous and costly, monthly bills sometimes would run well over a $1000 bucks. And if you weren't on time with your payment, your service was off the very next day. If you're a salesman, or anyone in any profession and you value your reputation and business, the sound of a sterile robotic female voice stating "sorry, but this number is temporarily disconnected" can be a devastating one. It could kill a sale, or cause a major client to brake off that first appointment you finally scheduled. You may never get a second chance.
I was going to let that happen to me. I saw where Tracfone offered a prepaid plan that involved only a few hundred minutes, but the main thing was that the prepaid card also gave you 365 days of service. Back then I listened to a lot of talk radio while I was in the car. I mostly made my calls from the office, so even if I ran out of minutes, I would still have voice mail to pick up any calls from anyone trying to reach me, and I would know they had called because it still showed up on the phone. If I was out of minutes, I would just return the call as soon as I could, and the best part was that once you bought another card you would 90 days, not just thirty.
Right now, today, as I write this one of my Tracfones will remain in service, even if I run out of minutes, and make no calls, I would still have service through the rest of 2022, and I think until April of 2023. So if you're starting out in your professional life, you couldn't have a better partner in business. Every time I have had to call customer service they were ALWAYS able to handle my problems, and did so politely and expertly. My only problem with them is that they haven't asked me to do a television commercial for them yet. Good luck out there... join Tracfone.

EX was important that day, since changing the battery resulted in a fire but contacts had been saved off-phone. All upgrades in phone & AT&T are impressive at first but soon the One Year deal began to reveal its ugly side. Pay me more for texting, then data. We were in ER when texting ran OUT! No Notice! No gas gauge! NO ACCOUNTING HISTORY to shop a better plan, just PAY ME MORE ... YOU RAN OUT. Even the paranoid that checks BALANCE/"USAGE" (the only watchdog they offer 611611) weekly or monitors the phone usage counts will be SHORTED "benefits" when in dire trouble (e.g. our ER experience).
BTW when I FINALLY got a real person on the phone, he found the TracFone office mistake and fixed it, since we really did have plenty of "benefits"!?!? When data ran out yesterday, their website was flooded and an hour down the drain trying to buy more data, new plan, whatever. No human on phone and finally got done via the phone itself!?!? The hurdle asking for a PIN (look back of card insanity) was cause for murder, since I had already changed that PIN and confirmed it many times prior = NOT WORKING. Leaving some minutes & texting behind, I prematurely changed plan to the $199 = $220.20 w/TT&L to gain unlimited texting & minutes. I see some criticism of the 12GB data limit for this year plan but data for me is only emergencies or no convenient WiFi nearby in a pinch, so not a problem - data I get on desktop.
Throughout this saga, I was routed to the Philippines for "support" UGH. Mario decided to eat a sandwich to slow up this typing to worms' pace, then made his job easy by changing the topic, sending me somewhere else (that was not working), limit his solutions to 2, then hung up on CHAT. The next one "A" was more in tune with my cause but no usage history, no contact to get one, no history to prove a) I was shorted again, b) the plan I selected will serve well with no outages for the full year. I hate cell phones, medical needs force me to carry one so am not the prudent shopper of such like my buddies. I'll find a better deal someday if not blessed with being able to throw all cells in the ocean.

First and foremost, I am NOT a Tracfone customer. I had a $24.99 withdrawal show up on my bank account today from a company called Robokiller. I filed a dispute with this transaction because I never signed up for this service. I called what I thought was Robokiller and got Tracfone. I was put on hold three different times waiting for a supervisor and was disconnected three different times. I have to think intentionally. While on hold, I attempted to start a chat and found out I was # 72 in line. I have to think Tracfone is a shady company if they do business with this Robokiller. None of this matters as the charge won't be paid but I now have to spend half a day updating the businesses that use my ATM card to draft payments out of my account.

Started with Tracfone back in the day when everyone had limits on their accounts. Was afraid about running out of minutes on a weekend and the store would be closed. Saw a Tracfone card/chip in a 24-hour convenience store and thought it may be a solution. Put it in my phone and never looked back. I like the roll-over, I use the year plan. I also like when I get a new phone, I just move the chip from my old phone to the new phone and don't have to change my number or start over. I presently have the Tracfone sim chip in my Apple 13 Pro Max. I have not had any problems with dropped calls or loss of service. A rep from one of the bigger companies tried to sell me service and I told them what I have and the price they said they couldn't beat it.

Got a text from TracFone on my tracfone cellphone for a Black Friday Sale deal. Get 800 bonus minutes with purchase of ANY 1 year card by Nov 30 2021. They give a promo number 34212 to use. So I purchase a 1 year 400 minute (Tracfone Card) from walmart. I go to add the card and then to add the promo code. It says promo code is NO GOOD?? So I call customer service. The customer service guy tries it with no luck. Then comes on and tells me I have to purchase the 1 year card directly from them?? What?? Nowhere in the text I got from tracfone does it say that I have to purchase the 1 year card directly from them. I purchased a TRACFONE card that only works on TRACFONE???? So beware of these scammers and their so called deals they don't honor.

So I used to have a Tracfone for a long time and here is what I was struggling with. First, the price of the plan you are in might change out of nothing and you did not find out until you check your bank account. Secondly, they do not let you transfer the balance or do a refund in case if you paid for service but "unfortunately we do not work with this sim card..." If you want to chat with the representative Good Luck. Their FB bot is broken and customer assistance "can not help you". I even struggle to break up with Tracfone... I simply wanted to switch providers but Tracfone denied my request to transfer the number. I better invest in pigeons next time!

I was a Safelink customer about 3-5 years ago and things were fine. Fast forward to last month and I reapplied. They said I could use my old phone. It worked for two, maybe three days and quit working. Had to use Google Voice to call them and they told me that phone was unsupported now. So why would they reactivate it in the first place?
So they sent me a new SIM card, put it in and it still doesn't work. Some rude lady a couple of days ago said it needed to be unlocked from Verizon. Called Verizon and as it turns out, it already is carrier unlocked.
The whole time I called them for a month, I had to keep asking for a supervisor to 'get up to the next level', because everyone at the 'lower level' just wanted to have me shut the phone off and on again. I've been disconnected numerous times with no way back to the 'upper level' other than asking people to bump me back up. I was put on hold by a 'supervisor' for 30 minutes and then disconnected. Then it happened again right after that. I was told on another occasion that I'd get a callback and it never happened. I've been nothing but polite to these people and still they lie and play games with me. If I had a choice, I'd go someplace else, but Tracfone is the only provider for Safelink. If you have a choice, stay away from Tracfone.

I've had Tracfone for years with no big issues until the past 2 years when Data stopped working on my cell phone. I have spoken to 8 different customer reps. for over 8 hours! Each rep tells me to reboot my phone. And test for data. Each rep tells me to try the same things the last rep told me to do. Then each rep transfers the call to someone else who is also unable to help me. They tell me I must call them from a different cell phone so they can "troubleshoot". Then they tell me I must have access to WiFi to troubleshoot. So I drove to Starbucks.
Still they are unable to help me make the data work after asking me to reboot my cell about a dozen times! Each rep tells me to access my APN settings and I must repeatedly tell each rep that my iPhone does not have any APN settings on it. If they had read the notes from the previous rep, they would know this. But they keep asking me to access what my phone does not have! I paid over $40 for the Data I cannot access and because I have an app for messages on my phone, I cannot retrieve my phone messages! This is critical and over a week without Data or phone messages! And they cannot help me! When I called to ask for a refund of my money, they told me that because I had used some of the Data I would not be allowed a refund! So they apparently get to keep my money without ever giving me the Data that I prepaid for! What a racket! I have also filed a complaint with the BBB.

Have kept Tracfone service for years for mild usage. When I ran out of data yesterday I had 800+ minutes and 800+ texts left on my account so last night I purchased an add-on of data. After account was updated my minutes and text balances were GONE! Chat and phone with customer service got me, "You have zero minutes and zero text ". No explanation of how more than 13 hours of call time and more than 850 text disappeared overnight. Dishonest behavior by this company certainly calls into question the benefits of Tracfone service.

I purchased a Tracfone and 1 month service for $37.70 8-6-21. I received my order 8-10-21. I called to activate my phone for service. They offer automatic monthly minutes for $21.68. I was asked if I wanted to do the auto plan. I accepted the plan and said I already paid for the first month so this will begin after 9-10-21 correct? I was told this was correct. Then they offered a transfer of phone numbers. I requested the number be transferred from ATT. Tracfone did not properly transfer the number. However, during the week I noticed they had charged me $21.68 for the recurring minutes. I again told them I had paid for minutes when I ordered the phone online. I was not to be charged until 9-10-21. I asked for a refund of the $21.68 and got it.
This was my mother's phone. I could call out on the phone but we could not call her number. It only affected the ATT incoming calls. Someone with Verizon could call her. Strange I know! I personally spent over 100 hours on the phone with Tracfone attempting to resolve this issue. I would be told the same thing over and over again. They would test the line and find the same issue. They had no idea why this was an issue. Day after day I got agent after agent who never resolved the problem. I never gave my mother the phone. My mother is 84 and was without a phone for over a week.
I asked for a return shipping label on Aug the 16. I returned the phone on 8-17 via UPS tracking #**. THE PHONE WAS RECEIVED ON 8-18-21 AT 0926. I called a week later looking for my refund. I was informed they did indeed have the phone. I spoke to Algelyn and Natalie from Corporate. They gave me this refund #**. No refund was ever given. I called again on 8-25-21. I spoke to Herson. He said "I have applied for a credit to your account today, I will just take a few days." He gave me this confirmation: **.
Today 10-29 I have not received my $37.70 refund for the phone that was sent back to them. I have spent many hours trying to resolve this issue. All I get is lip service. They say they will do something and it is never done. I call back and they act as if they have never heard from me before. I give them their confirmation and tracking number and they are clueless, clueless! I would like to get the refund I was told I was getting on 8-25-21 at 1540 by Herson.

On a recent trip to Costa Rica, we discovered just how badly the customer service is at Tracfone. It couldn't have been any worse of an experience. We needed our phones to be unlocked so we could insert the SIM cards we purchased at the airport. This would have allowed us to use our phones in Costa Rica to send texts and make calls back to the US. It took a ridiculously long time to reach a live person. When we finally reached a Customer Service Rep, she turned out to be totally useless and not very helpful at all. She simply DID NOT care that we were in a foreign country WITHOUT use of our phones. As a result, we are dumping Tracfone and our phones. We have been a customer of Tracfone for more than five years. We are now going with another company that will be much more reliable. Tracfone just doesn't care about their customers. You DO NOT treat your customers like this. Tracfone **.

Beware of TracFone. I'd give a zero star if that was an option. I cannot believe they are still in business. Whatever you do, DO NOT give them your credit card. I made the unfortunate attempt to try this service but when I could not transfer over my phone number, did not complete the purchase. Unfortunately, I had already entered my credit card in their system and started receiving charges on my credit card since then. Nine months later and many calls, they continue to change my card for services they agree have never been incurred. They credit my card each time I call and assure me they will no longer charge my card.
I've spent HOURS on the phone, being transferred, often disconnected, with unresolved results in them discontinuing their erroneous charges to my card. This is clearly not a good use of my time or theirs. The last time, even their own manager told me I would have to have my credit card company block their future charges - she had no resolution for stopping their recurring charges for services never provided from her company.

I purchase thousands of minutes and years of service from TracFone: only to get notification from them now my phone will no longer work. I am informed I will have to purchase a new phone in order to continue service. I happen to believe TracFone has an obligation to provide the service I paid for. If that means they have to give me a new phone to do so, well I guess they better send me a new phone. I think it's bad enough I have to go through all the trouble of moving all my stuff over to the new phone. I don't need or want a new phone, however it seems I am not given a choice in the matter. To top it off I am expected to pay for it and buy a new service plan. What a rip-off! TracFone, get your act together!

This is a reseller of AT&T service so it's very good service. BUT... When you switch or update your cell phone you start over. They say they carry over your minutes but it NEVER works out that way. Your data resets to ZERO. So you have to start over and if you have bought a yearly plan then you just have to buy it again. But it still is the cheapest yearly plan I have found.

I spoke to 8 different people and got all different answers. USPS was now delivering the pkg. Spoke with mailman who reassured me this is not a tracking # for them. Called Customer service and this time it is UPS who has the pkg. Went onto UPS Website and was able to track pkg. and was made aware the address was not all provided and they had returned my pkg. I was told to contact TracFone.
Spoke with so many different people who did not help me and told me that my account would be credited when they receive the phone. As I explained to them numerously I wanted this phone and please correct the address they hung up on me. So now I have roughly 15 hours of talk time into this matter and have spoken to numerous people around the world hearing roosters and children in the background and still it is not resolved.
