    I filed a claim with Asurion. Actually first one ever. Had an appointment scheduled for a tech to come to my home 8/21/20 7-9pm to repair my cracked screen. I called at 850 and was told they still have 10 minutes to show. I would have to wait. So at 905pm I called back and told them they never showed. They told me I was lucky they had an opening 8/24/20 same time. Again waited and at 815pm, I contacted the customer service and they told me they would definitely be there by 9pm. Again no one showed. I called asurion back again and asked for a supervisor. They never came on the line. The girl helping me said the supervisor offered to send me a replacement phone at no extra charge and then disconnected me.

    I again called back and asked for a supervisor. I finally got a supervisor named Donna and she was about useless. Corrected me on my location and how far I was from a store I could go to to get my screen repaired. After much debate I finally rescheduled again. If I do not get the service this time I will seek lawyer's advice. To pay all that insurance over 15+ years and not get what I paid for is unacceptable. I read these reviews and wonder who is being paid to claim they give good service. Just shaking my head.

    In the end I was happy but it took many phone calls and hours on my computer. I was told after sending in the affidavit and license via download that it needed to be my husband's as the account was listed under his name. The whole process took 4 days of telephone calls, going to AT&T personally and having to upload my documents. I thought I was all set but then was told it needed to be my husbands documents. So frustrating. Some of the problem came from uploading and Down loading for which I will take responsibility for. At the end of the day, the process was exhausting. Trying to reach Asurion on the phone was exhausting due to long, long waits. No one should have go through so much getting a replacement phone. There needs to be a simpler method. The one great thing is once Asurion was satisfied with the documents, I got my phone in 2 days....Yeah!

    Don't waste your money with this company. In my experience, phone replacements have never gone quickly or smoothly. They don't communicate if there is an issue with your replacement device being sent to you. You are left waiting and wondering until you call them to find out where your device is. If you pay for the coverage you expect it to be there when you need it. This company is not reliable when replacing broken devices as promised. I cracked the screen on my Samsung S10+. Filed for a repair and had the tech tell me he could not fix it due to the manufacturer over tightening an internal screw causing it to be stripped.

    He said I needed to contact Asurion for replacement. When I did so I was told that an S10+ replacement was not available but that I would receive an S20+ instead and that it would be arriving the next day. I was ok with that despite not really wanting to switch phones right now because it meant I would get a phone fast. I am having surgery and will be unable to deal with phone swapping and insurance issues for an unknown amount of time and told the CSR that.

    The delivery day came and went. I received no notification for shipment or delay. I checked their site for my claim status and it said it was shipped but there was no tracking info. I did their chat support and was advised that the phone was on back order and usually it takes 3-5 days to get them in stock, but they couldn't be sure. They said it MAY be on the truck that arrives tomorrow, but they wouldn't know until it arrives.

    I asked if I got a different color if that would help things and was told that they have no S20+ available. I asked why I wasn't advised of the back order during the claim filing call and got no answer. I asked when I would be notified, and again, no reply to that. I only got, "Sorry it's on back order...We can't upgrade you, call your carrier and check your email for updates".

    Had this been the first time I've had issues with replacements not arriving when told to expect them, I would say it was a one off experience but this isn't. Last time I was sent a defective replacement (delayed I believe) and then had to send it back and wait more than a month because that phone was on back order even though "they usually only take 3-5 days".... This company has not, to my recollection, ever replaced a device for our family without back orders and waiting. They at a minimum should advise customers when there is a delay or issue with their claim or device. Instead of making the customer chase down the replacement that Asurion knows isn't on the way. I will be looking elsewhere for coverage.

    Pros:

    There was one CSR on the phone that was pleasant and understanding.

    Claim was fast and easy to file.

    Repair was attempted at my location.

    The Repair Tech was mindful of social distancing and was pleasant.

    Cons:

    Doesn't communicate with customer if there is a delay or issue with replacement device.

    Chat CSRs don't pay attention and/or don't reply to all questions asked (more than one CSR).

    Chat CSRs either skip what they don't want to address or just don't read what you write.

    Replacements are delayed with no real idea of when it should arrive. (3-5 days is what I've been told with every delayed device.)

    The Repair Tech was to call me at least 30 minutes prior to their arrival but couldn't call me because their phone system was down.

    Originally the repair was a cracked screen. The appointment wait time was too long. It was 2 weeks. Once fixed the screen shuttered, you couldn’t text, Asurion replaced the phone and it’s fine. The screen repair wait should be days not weeks.

    For the price, you should get new phones or Apple remanufactured phones. What you get is a crappy phone that is not to OEM specs. Screen not on tight, which means it’s not watertight. Unit shuts off randomly. No sense in getting another as it will be the same or worse. If you do the math, if Asurion were for a 30k car, it would be like paying $300/month for insurance. When you get in a wreck, you get a poorly rebuilt car with a salvage title.

    I was in the AT&T store on a Friday morning. The service we got was really good from AT&T really bad from the Call in aspect. The person on the phone was not good at all did not listen at all and just basically wasted two hours of both mine and AT&T’s time. We had to ask for a supervisor who finally got things rolling.     Asurion has layers of incompetent customer service and claims management representatives whose only objective is to reject claims. I have spent days jumping through hoops and being placed on hold after five service calls for a Samsung refrigerator. The last two technicians they sent said they could not fix the unit and now Asurion is saying another technician has to verify what two other technicians have stated. The Catch-22 is that calls to schedule this "final" assessment have been futile, meanwhile no working refrigerator, no replacement refund, and the complete run around whenever I call for status. Save your money and take your chances. Asurion product protection is a complete scam and the worst company I have ever dealt with.

    Service was fast and prompt once I got connected to the right contact. Store wanted to charge me full price for a new phone. Stores should be qualified to handle insured problems.     The process was great. Easy to file the claim and got my phone the next day. Well done. $112 deductible was a bit of a shock. I've paid you $8 a month or something for many years... I was not expecting that and am a bit disappointed. I've canceled the insurance going forward and while I'll insure my next phone for the first couple years I don't plan to continue unless there is something akin to Allstate's vanishing deductible. Customers who are careful and don't abuse the policy should see some benefit in lower deductibles.
