This company charged me over $320.00 even though the dish was already on my roof. Then promised to refund which NEVER happened. After just 2 months their service was SO bad. I had to cancel my service. First when my tv went out they said they would fix it in a couple of days which eventually turned into 12 days. Then I was told to go up on my ROOF myself. I'm 62 with a bad heart and wipe it off. When I talked to another man he said I wasn't getting all the channels I'd been charged for and he would get the problem solved. Of course that NEVER happened.
I can't begin to tell you about all the missed appointments with them where they never showed up and I had taken off work to be sure I was at home. I would lose a vacation day. This was the WORST experience and now they are trying to extort another $460 out of me for their poor service and lack of ability to give an honest answer, show up on time and provide the service that they say they will. All I can say is STAY AWAY FROM DIRECTV at all costs unless you want to forever be paying for something YOU NEVER GET!!! I think already paying $320.00 for NOTHING is enough. In my eyes they get ZERO STARS!

I recently switched to DirecTV from another provider. DirecTV has been very good about sending me reminder emails for my installation time/date, etc. The installation was completed and the installer explained everything to me and answered all of my questions. The clarity on my TV screen is far superior to my previous provider and I have a lots more channels to choose from.

We were DirectTV customers for many years and when Fios came into our neighborhood they offered such a good deal, we couldn't pass it up. We were always happy with DirecTV and have recommended it many times.

We are very pleased with DirecTV sales person, the tech who installed our system and the communication about times of installing. The tech was worked very fast and efficiently and explained the remote control features to us. Our experience with DirecTV was very positive.

I will start by saying I NEVER write reviews. Generally, I am an extremely easy customer and I understand companies try their best. I have had DirecTV for 9 months. My husband and I are moving from our current apartment complex to the local seminaries campus, where I will be a student. As per the lease agreement at our new complex, all dishes are prohibited. Initially, when my husband called DirecTv to cancel our service, he was told it was illegal for the seminary to make such prohibitions. I did my own research, and found this law only applies in the event that our unit includes a porch or balcony, which it does not. I don't like being bullied by companies. I don't like companies misrepresenting laws that were put in place to protect me, in order to protect themselves.
As such, I called DirecTV to cancel stating that; because they are unable to fulfill their end of our contract, I should no longer be bound to pay for their service. The snotty representative retorted with a, "you signed a contract so it's going to be a $300 cancellation fee." In addition to their bad policies, poor employee training, and extortion of the law, their service has been subpar. If you are looking for family-friendly tv programming, RUN.... the mere titles of some of the garbage they allow on their network, is a glimpse of the sort of ethical and moral principles of the company as a whole. I would add a few of those titles here to give you an idea, but I don't want my review to be deleted for inappropriate content.
Finally, If you want to pay a tv provider, so that you can be afforded the opportunity to pay for PPV... DirecTV is for you! More than half of our channels are PPV. In my mind I think, I could drive 1 minute to Redbox, and Pay $1.29, or I could pay an additional $5 to watch the same movie... It is not worth the money. I would suggest paying a little more for a provider that actually provides programming worth watching.
Some of you may read this review and think, "I own a house I will never have this problem" or perhaps "I don't have kids so I'm not worried about the inappropriate content." I would urge you to consider, that DirecTV is like any other corrupt system. If they can treat me badly, they can treat you badly. You may not have this exact issue, but I guarantee when you do have an issue, you too are just a number to them.

I recently switched from Comcast to DirecTV. At Comcast, I would have to go through a tedious automated menu just to speak with someone that really didn't help me. Their pricing was unreasonable and there was almost always issues with the bill. So far I have not received a bill from DirecTV but right off the bat we are paying about half as much as we were with Comcast, and we get the same things. Because it's a new service, I've had to call a couple times to ask questions or clear something up, and each time has been quick, easy and every person I've spoken to has been friendly and helpful. So glad that we made the switch!

DIRECTV is by far the WORST company to work with!! I have literally spent over 15 hours on the phone with approximately 10 different representatives this last month. This is all due to having to cancel since where we moved doesn't allow any dishes. Not only have 3 representatives been out to verify "no line of sight" so that we can get the early cancellation fee waived, but 2 out of the 3 submitted it wrong. Therefore they needed to verify again. After all the verifying they needed to do, we got it waived.
The following week my credit card got charged the cancellation fee and an additional month of service. I called and after 2 hours I was told I would be getting a refund check in 7-10 days and it's the last time I would ever need to talk to DirecTV. 3 weeks later I get another bill! When I called today (for the 11th time) I had been on the phone for 44 minutes while the lady "reads through all my notes". As she comes back from hold she tells me I'm at a max time allotted per representative so she needs to transfer me to another one! WHY ARE THEY STILL IN BUSINESS!?

The guy who took my call should be recognized! I dealt with car dealers, insurance, phone companies, cable companies, etc and this was the best service I got. I would call that agent just to have a convo because he was comfortable and showed interest and he went beyond customer service.

I do not recommend DirecTV to anyone! We signed up with DirecTV a year ago when we moved into our new home. Over the year we have had to contact them about our bill numerous times and also have had them call to offer "free" NFL channel to which we said we were not interested and did not want it to find it on or bill the next month. Not to mention, we signed a two year agreement that we're assured that if we were locked in the a specific bundle rate for that period only to have it go up $50 a year later.
After speaking with billing, there is nothing they can do, it is what it is but we were offered free movie channels for a short time. We asked what it would take to get out of the agreement and we were told $220.00. At this point, it sounds well worth it in comparison of the $600.00 we will be stuck paying over the next 12 months. Not to mention, not having to contact them almost monthly about over-charges and added on channels without our consent. Absolutely furious with this them as a whole.

The ad had a promo code which gave a $50 discount at activation, $10 per month refer a friend discount, no cost at signing, no equipment or installation fees for $19.99 a month less discounts. When all was said and done I paid $8.13 up front then received an email that stated second year pricing would be $62.99 plus tax per month and equipment programming fees of $$6.50 for each television would be added before taxes for each television. Each of the four reps I spoke with gave different pricing. I cancelled the order. Now they will not refund the $8.13.

After dealing with sales reps who spoke for DirecTV, and gave me conflicting information, I finally called DirecTV customer service directly and spoke with **, who was extremely helpful and knew what she was talking about. She finalized my order to my satisfaction.

I had an issue with the initial order I placed. A brief phone call (5-7 minutes) was all that was needed to adjust the sales order and the customer service agent was very professional, polite, and extremely efficient. The results were quick and everything was confirmed over the phone before I disconnected. Easy experience.

DirecTV was a good experience for most part. The company hired to install was not the best. We drove 60 miles for this and waited 7 hours to show up. He could not find a place to install dish. Said he would have to install a pole next to one I already had. Could not use ours because it was larger. He then told me it was $80.00 for theirs. I told forget it, I was not paying for free install.

I live on Casa Blanca Ln, in Orlando, Florida. I have had DirecTV for a few months now and I recently, having moved, had my service moved to a new address. Now, up until this point, everything was great. However, when I called to have my service moved, what I got was the technician from hell! From the moment that this technician showed up. He was looking for shortcuts to leave as soon as possible...
When I explained to him where all the other satellite dishes for my apartment building were located, he stated that he was going to put the dish "Next to the staircase." When he showed me where he was going to put it, I even said "People are going to hit their head on it," but, he said it was the only place he was going to put the dish.
In the long run, the complex manager came over and told him that the dish could not be where he had placed it. And, with that, the technician came into my apartment cursing and saying the he didn't give a ** about his job, because the complex manager didn't "Respect" him. At that point, the technician asked me to call DirecTV and to ask if another technician could come out to move my dish. But, when they wanted to charge me an additional $49, I said "No way" and I told the technician that if he didn't move the dish, I would simply cancel my service. So, he stormed off to move the dish.
Now, he neglected to properly secure the pole that he put my dish on. And, when he couldn't get the dish placed in a manner that would receive a proper signal, he got very angry and decided to leave. Before leaving, he told me not to call DirecTV about the matter and he gave me his phone number. But, I had no intention of allowing this technician back into my house.
I called him the very next morning, yesterday, and made it clear that I was done dealing with him. I was nice about it. But firm. DirecTV sent a new technician over, within an hour of my calling them and making them aware of the debacle. So, today, 2 days after the ordeal. Guess who shows up at my door, calling my phone number when I didn't open the door??? Yes, it was the same lunatic that from the original ordeal. At this point, I am no longer interested in being a DirecTV customer. I would NOT even recommend them to my worst enemy.

Overall, DIRECTV has been great as far as the service. However, their sales representatives are awful! After arguing with the man 3 times that I wanted the lower "Entertainment" package and not their "Choice" package, he had agreed -- only to go behind my back and sign me up for the Choice package. VERY dishonest and a horrible way to conduct business! I now have to deal with them once again to get my package changed to what I AGREED to and hope I am not charged extra!

I am a new customer, and have found my experiences thus far to be great. My calls have been answered quickly, I have spoken to an American who spoke clear English, and had good listening skills. They know their products, and while they have suggested various "sales" related things, they never pushed me. The advertising leads one to believe you are getting a package deal of DirecTV and CenturyLink. Not so. We thought we were getting them installed the same day. Not so. It is 2 weeks apart. I am terribly stressed from the ordeal with CenturyLink.

When I call to make changes I was charged an extra tax fee. I had to make a couple different changes so I have a couple charges of approx 2-3 dollars. It's just a huge pain for the dollar amount charged.

I have to admit that I don't check my online bill monthly, but when I notice that it goes up I start looking. Today I find that I am being billed for Premier service protection, which I never authorized. ($19.99 monthly) Up from $7.99, and that is up from $5.00 monthly. How can I control these unauthorized charges from these businesses. I do like the service that they provide, but I am constantly worried that I am being taken advantage of. I just don't trust them.
Updated on 1010835: As a follow-up to my first complaint, I sent an email to customer service regarding the overcharge on my bill and it was promptly taken care of and credited back. My concern however is that if a customer does paperless and does not look at their bill, this could happen more than one realizes. I know that we should all look at our billings but I doubt that it happens.

From the very beginning, I started having problems with DirecTV. The installer contracted by them took shortcuts to keep his cost minimal. Unfortunately, the installation was poor and I was without service until they could fix. I've been with DirecTV for two months and they have unfair billing practices. When I check my account on-line, it shows a credit amount not equal to my prior payment, and then the next day it has a billed amount. Because there is no consistency I do not know what I owe, which concerns me because I'm on a fixed income.
I was told by one of their employees that my first year they will lose money from me but make it up the following year. Because of their inconsistency, I am fearful of what this will mean. I was advised by DirecTV to bundle my services with Century Link to obtain a discount. They stated I would have to contact Century Link, which I did. Upon doing, this DirecTV increased my bill $10. They advised me when I bundled my services I lost my autopay discount. If they knew the outcome, why did they recommend it? I had no choice but to unbundle my services and request auto pay. Upon doing this, DirecTV asked what day of the month I wanted to make my payment.
I responded the 25th as that was when I received my SS check. They stated they could not do the 25th but the 29th instead. I asked if my bill would be prorated. They responded that they do not prorate their bills. They lied - DirecTV deducted $135 from my account instead of $67.91. After being transferred to an American supervisor, he agreed that there was no communication that two months would be deducted from my account. He agreed to refund me one payment of $67.91. They do not give you access to the Financial department to discuss the status.
Seven days later they changed their mind and kept my money even though I did not authorize this payment.. I sent a letter to the president of the company. I was advised by his office that he does not read your letters, as he is too busy. This company has no integrity or accountability. They definitely do not know what it means to care about their customers. I regret I changed cable services.

I think it is very sad that you advertise all these low-cost bundles but after one year your prices more than double. Oh yeah and you make the consumer sign a two-year contract. Then when the consumer tries to lower their bill you are told there will be a one-time fee of $256. My contract is up in October 2015 at which time I want all of the DIRECTV equipment out of my home along with the satellite dish. I would not recommend DIRECTV to my worst enemy, let alone a friend or a family member.

Just the first experience I had over the phone was pleasant. I was a loyal DISH customer paying $130.00 a month for 5 hoppers and insurance, and I never felt like a valued customer. Over the phone they will always sound like smart ** and argue with me over issues I knew I was having and always ended up with my stomach hurting like they were making me a favor. As soon as I called to pay my AT&T U-verse and a good deal was offered to me I canceled DISH and accepted DIRECTV!! Please work close with your customer service representatives to make sure people keep having this great experiences and like this keep your customers. Don't be like DISH! They have nothing on you. We did this because I did not want to pay CenturyLink $76.00 for internet only. I work part-time and have to have internet. By the time one year of the contract is up I will quit my job: So I will not have to depend on the internet. Then I will go to dial-up for a lot less.

Very polite people in the customer service department as well as the service techs. All questions answered while remaining polite and professional, even though I'm a technological idiot. Very little effort put into getting this all set up. Prompt service, the only complaint I have is when I told the lady I'd call back the next day to set everything up she was slightly pushy. Other than that this has been a really good experience much better than Mediacom.

He performed an excellent job and show up on time and took his time to explain the remotes and how that worked because they are different than the one for my t.v. Most of my family has directv. I watched tv from all their houses the channels stay the same no matter where they live and they're happy with direct. My mom is old school and was afraid to leave Cable after 27 loyal years. She had basic Cable with 60 channels for $84.66 a month! She was out of service 8 days of the 2 weeks we were there for our vacation and the Cable staff and service people were rude and hateful with her over getting her service fixed. You guys were able to cut her bill in half with 3 times the amount of channels. I think she is going to be really happy with Directv! Thanks!

I have had Cox Cable, Comcast Cable and the antenna for local TV. Since I signed up for DirecTv I have had every channel I've wanted, the price is good. The sports are a big selling point since my husband loves it. Free NFL ticket was great. The quality of the service works so good with my 4k TV! Also the signal never goes out like it used to years ago. I guess that's why DirecTv is rated best in class. I will continue to use DirecTv and I love the Genie advanced receiver. I don't know how I lived without it before. I loves my DTV.

Signed up with directv last spring for my trailer because I could suspended it for 6 months at a time. They told me if I signed or agreed to a 2 year contract I would receive my subscription for $25.00 a month plus tax or whatever. It would take 2 years to make 1. Now they are saying that the discounts continue even if you are not using it so in a year's time the discounts are gone and they charge me $60.00 for barely nothing. That is legally stealing. That's my opinion.

This technician that installed my directv was the best overall tech I've had bar none, rather it be cable, satellite etc. He was professional, courteous and patient. I asked him questions while he was working and didn't get impatient or rattled, answered all correct and done an excellent job.

The Supervisor was able to take care of our situation, very professionally and respectfully. Initially, we were passed around to different representatives and the notes that each one made was not showing up for the next representative to read (not their fault.) It was frustrating for me and for the representatives. At this time I am happy to recommend DirecTV. However, we are on a month long wait list for the technician appointment to get the system installed - that is a long wait and I am assuming that we will not be charged for service until after the installation is completed.

I have been with DirecTV since 2012. I cancelled my service on 3/30/15, fully expecting to go back during football season. I received a final bill on 4-1-15 and a month later another bill. I called for an explanation and they went into this long drawn out explanation. I told them that if they cant develop a system that gives quick and accurate billing information, I do not trust their technology.
