I was happy with what I heard about DirecTV and began the process of signing up for it. However, initially, I was told that the Japanese channel, NHK was available as part of the package. After scheduling an installation, I found out that NHK was not available and had to cancel the package. If I had been informed initially that NHK was unavailable, I would not have had to go through the cancellation process.

Install appointment was 8:00 to 12:00 a.m. Received call saying he was running behind on earlier install and would be here at 12:45. I said that was fine. At 3:45 called customer service. They got hold of rep. Did not arrive till 5:30 to 8:30. Customer service did call back to make sure a rep. showed up and did everything to make sure I was happy. JUST wish it was in a timely manner. I had no previous plans or would have been issue.

DirecTV is a heartless company. We started with DirecTV over 7 years ago. Never had any problems with them until this month. My husband had a heart attack in December. We needed a hard wired phone in our home to monitor his heart pacemaker/defibrillator. DirecTV doesn't offer one. We found that Verizon can supply us with a phone, internet and TV for the price we were paying DirecTV. We had to have DirecTV come out in Feb to install new equipment because the equipment that was 7 years old didn't work any longer with our TV. Somewhere along the way of getting the equipment replaced, they called it an 'upgrade'. The fast talking customer service rep says I 'agreed' to sign up for another 2 years.
After talking to DirecTV, they are charging us $400 early cancellation fee. Yes, $400. He even 'talked to his supervisor' to see what they can do about it. I seriously doubt it. I have no idea how we are going to be able to afford the $400 fee. We are living on social security. They truly are heartless. We are making sure that anyone that is considering signing up with them knows how they work. I hope anyone that reads this will reconsider going with them.

In my first call I didn't receive the best explanation of the install and how my internet service would be attained. I was never told it would take another call to set that up or that the service I am able to receive is poor (realize that is not DirecTV's issue). Also I was not told that install may require several 100 dollars more to complete would have been nice to know. The last and most upsetting part of the process which I know may have nothing to do with your employees or just a simple mistake. I received a call on the 16th stating that DTV had lost all my install info and that they would not be able to complete. Once the caller asked for my social number I declined and hung up. When I called back the other number I have for DTV they said everything was in order. So confused as to what that call was about but that number was (619) 493-2019.

I love DirecTV, but this is my first time bundling with CenturyLink and I am very disappointed. For the last 3 days CenturyLink has set up appointment after appointment and has yet to show up. They don't call, I have to call them and am still waiting!

When I initially ordered DirecTV I was asking about channels I would be getting with the Choice package. I was interested in having FSKC which I had with cable. It is Fox Sports Kansas City and televises the Royals Baseball games. I didn't see it specifically listed under that title but saw Fox Sports 1 and 2 etc. It was my understanding that it was included but called something else, Fox Midwest or South or such. Anyway I have not found it so maybe I misunderstood or was not clear on that particular channel. Otherwise I love the channel lineup. If that particular channel exists I would like to know where and how I would access it.

I had DirecTV before and your customer service has improved immensely. Before it seemed they didn't care whether you were a customer or not. I was a little reluctant to call but I am glad I did because the employees have been so helpful, friendly and pleasant. Thank you.

It had absolutely nothing to do with you or your product. I love DirecTV. I contacted AT&T and they pumped the pooch. Couldn't get one of their reps on the phone and when I did, I find that they wanted 100 instead of 50 and I had forgotten to give them the right address anyway, which resulted in my card being declined. I fully intend on going with DirecTV, just not with AT&T bundled in. 100 down for 6 mbps? Laughable! They blew it. Your company was great in how it handled everything. It always has.

I had great customer service from ** whom took with order and just took the time so I understood everything. Then, the technical support was also great with be on time for my appointment and explaining the services he was doing in my apartment. I am happy right now with every phase of DirecTV.

We are very happy with the new package we are getting from DirecTV with Frontier Internet. It was getting to the point we couldn't afford DirecTV with HughesNet Internet services. HughesNet is a crummy internet service. Their customer service is terrible and we were thinking of switching because of this. We are so happy that DirecTV and Frontier are offering a reasonably priced package of $75.00 a month instead of the almost $300.00 we were paying for DirecTV and HughesNet. Thanks for thinking about the working class!!

I had ordered through Verizon FIOS a triple play package. I live in an apartment complex. They told (three times, three different people) though they worked in conjunction with you for the T.V. side of things. I would NOT need a DISH. Our management company does not allow it so I was thrilled to finally have DIRECTV without needing one. Well we woke up early 7AM (my wife is disabled and I have a heart condition) The appointment was scheduled from 8AM -12PM... Then the gentleman called to say he was on the way, due to an abundance of paranoia (LOL) I asked him if he needed to install a Dish for our service. To make a long story short because of Verizon's misinformation, we were quite upset about not being able to enjoy your services. Representative had an accent and on a couple of occasions spoke quickly and had hard time following, which required me to repeat what was said so that I confirmed the understanding. Overall, not a significant problem. Representative did tend to read agreements VERY quickly so I had to pay close attention to what was said.

When I initially set up my DIRECTV installation date the representative listed the wrong setup address. When I called to correct it I was transferred to 3 different reps. However, the last rep was very helpful and set it up quickly.

I have been a DIRECTV customer for 10 years. The first 6 years were awesome!!! When contract was up I had no problem calling customer service and renewing for another year with discounts. As the years went by the less discounts were offered and prices went up. Not a big deal, till 4 years ago. Customer service could not help so I would contact the cancellation department. They help for about 2 years and now I am stuck paying full price for service. I have 1 box under contract till 2016 and can't seem to get any discounts. Very Disappointed!!!

I called to cancel my account after 15 years of service due to the fact that I had to move. I was told that if I would like to start using DTV again I should just suspend my account so that I could keep my long-standing relationship. So I did that and moved. Almost a year later I got a $250.00 charge on my credit card that I did not authorize and never paid DTV with a credit card. I am not sure how they got the number. I called and was told that service was turned back on and that I was responsible for the charges. I told them that I never received the service, I do not have a dish, etc., and did not authorize them to bill me.
They said it was automatically turned back on and the fact that I did not have a receiver or dish and was not receiving any service was irrelevant. I was on the phone with several people for over 2 1/2 hours and did not get a resolution. This after being a customer for 15 years and would have continued to be as soon as I got my living arrangements worked out. I never missed or was late with a payment. Not only did they act unprofessional but billed my credit card without authorization. The credit card company is investigating this as fraud. I will NEVER use DTV again.

My only concern is the 2 year contract. First year at a low rate and the second year rates increase significantly. AT&T rep kept pushing saying that I could negotiate my rate for the second year. Talked with several people who had DirecTV and said they tried to negotiate their rate and were unable to do so. Why should customers have to negotiate? I feel that the rate should be for the two year contract term.

I know from past experience that DIRECTV provides an excellent product backed by excellent service. The amazing lady who won me over, **, deserves much credit. My only issue is that I would like to be able to personally recommend ** to my friends because she is awesome and deserves the commission for any person I recommend to DIRECTV. Even if it is not possible to call a sales rep directly, some sort of compensation should be made to those who leave a lasting impression on people like me. O:-)

The service people who hooked the dish up, put the dish on a rotten piece of wood. It works, but I feel that it was very poor quality. The second time the service people came, the person refused to even check to see if we could get HD. He was very disrespectful. Overall, the people I talked to on the phone were very nice. I would never want the man who came on my property to come here again. I would go back to DISH-NET, before I would allow that.

I knew nothing about DirecTV when I made my initial call. The person I spoke to was very patient and helpful. A follow-up number to call if I needed help was mentioned several times. I was kept up to speed on the status of the installation person and when he was to arrive. Installation was very kind and careful of my property.

Sales/installation all good. I got a reduced rate from my AT&T package to a DirecTV/AT&T combo. If there is a way to improve here's how - $105 1st year, $137 second year, I would be happier if I could pay $121 for two years guaranteed. Worked to be the same and nothing to do for two years.

DirecTV has certainly figured out how to keep their customers roped in. I got service almost a year ago, and got two boxes. First issue I encountered was that I needed to move a box to another room. Called DirecTV and they proceeded to tell me that would be $50 bucks. The technician NEVER mentioned that. Then, when I wanted to bundle internet, I called to see about their plans. The prices they quoted me were more expensive than what AT&T was going to charge me for the same bundle. To keep their customers they will try whatever they can, but when I told them I'd rather just cancel they proceeded to tell me it would be $390 dollars. That is what I pay them every month x6. Way to force your customers to stay in a contract with your ** company.

I called sometime in the beginning of June to see my options for DirecTV. We were considering it, but not sure of the prices and fees. The representative did a great job explaining the service, the boxes, the DVR, and the internet agreements. We were considering getting DirecTV in about a month, but after talking with her and others we know who have it, we decided to go ahead and get it. The next representative I talked to was able to have a technician out to the house the next day. We had some tree issues and didn't think we wanted it on the house. We postponed it and then after talking to a neighbor, decided it might work on the house.
We called the technician and he said we would have to call DirecTV again. When I did, the representative was very enjoyable and understood what I needed and got the process going again. We had another technician come to the house in a couple of hours and he was able to install it. He did a great job in making sure that we could work our TVs with the remotes and understood some of the features. We have enjoyed our DirecTV for 3 days and I called today again regarding an issue and it was cleared up quickly.

I would give a "10" instead of a "9" overall if I were able to directly speak to a person when I first call, as opposed to talking to an automated system get to a live person. Once I was connected to a live person, she was excellent.

Recent events caused me to get behind. They took it upon them selves to put me on auto pay, without asking me and charged 460.95 to my already empty bank account. This putting me into even greater financial debt!!! Overdrafts etc. Well I called and it seemed we worked it out. They gave me refund of less than half back and were supposed to turn receivers back on. One receiver came back on. The other 2 have not and the one wit the DVR won't reset. Called again and now they want to charge me 20 to send me a new one. I cannot afford this anymore! And the one in my daughter's room comes on but is blocked? Now I'm being charged for nothing, no service. And all they worried about is getting their 2 year contract money. Can't wait till that ends!

Installer was nice but did not do what I asked. Left old cables, did not test the old cables he left which I asked him to replace but did not do a loss test to see if they were good. Spent time on his phone with his girlfriend.

Refund of Service Charge: After AT&T incorrectly placed a service order for satellite service for me, DirecTV stepped in to handle the refund of the service call. Things went very smoothly after Directv was handling the service call. Thank you, Directv!

Unauthorized withdraw. I was having financial issues due to a divorce and I am a single parent of 3 kids so I could no longer afford DIRECTV’s monthly fees so I called and canceled service. Well in doing so a month later I checked my account to make my house payment and I realized $371.00 which was my entire check b/c I’m a student and had clinicals those two weeks I really needed that money and when I called them not only were they rude they told me that it was in very fine print sent to my email that they could hold my debit card #. I’ve disputed it many times and they don’t seem to want to work with me. I just wish if there was going to be a fee they would done the honest right ethical thing to do and worked with me to pay such a ridiculous fee instead of taking everything I had.

When I initiated a call to CenturyLink regarding a telephone issue, I was greeted by a most polite and knowledgeable service rep who informed me it could reduce my monthly cable bill by changing to DirecTV. I decided to try the change but upon further consideration realized at my advanced age, I did not want the change and confusion that would result. Consequently, I cancelled the initial order. The process was not unpleasant as I had expected. Thank You DirecTV.

When order was placed install was done on Friday with order number shown, then on following Monday another tech came to install with a different account so had to call and get it straightened up. The tech that came was very helpful - he even called and explained the situation to person so I had only to verify the information - very simple.

For almost 2 years now my TV "searches for signal" in the middle of programs at least 4-5 times a week and about every couple months it'll just flat out reset itself and say "Hello! Your receiver is starting up." then go a few steps just to return to the same "Hello..." screen, at which point it takes days of re-setting and re starting to finally get it to work. On top of these problems, DirecTV has never done ANYTHING to help me or anything for me! Calling is pointless and you never get anywhere. I've also found that they get movies later than Comcast does OnDemand and if you don't have Internet through them there is no such thing as OnDemand viewing like other companies have (Comcast). It's by far the worst cable I've ever had and would never recommend them!

The DirecTV technician ** was very, very helpful. He stayed longer than expected, even though we weren't able to get my wireless mini genies activated. :-( I was really looking forward to that set up. ** is very knowledgeable about the services DirecTV provide. The only issue I'm having now is a note coming up, "wireless connection lost."
