    I'm a new customer of DirecTV with my own equipment. I read the website and received a coupon in the mail from ValuePak advertising their choice package for $29.99. The website says extra charges apply, but you cannot locate any explanation for the extra charges. When I received my confirmation email, the monthly bill will be $60.12. They are charging extra fees for advanced receiver fees (to record programs), watch TV on one TV and a regional sports fee (I don't watch sports channels). The monthly bill is $60.12!!! That is double what they advertise. When I called customer service they will not honor their advertised price and sent me to the Disconnect department. I'm completely dissatisfied.

    On top of this, my Dad was paying for this service at the same address. He recently died, so I changed the service to my name. He had the lower Entertainment package which included HGTV and GSN. DirecTV insists GSN is not available any longer in the entertainment package. We've had the service at our home for 13 years and DirecTV will NOT provide the entertainment package to me with the GSN channel. The lip service I received from DirecTV is unprofessional and their advertising is FALSE and I consider this bait and switch which is illegal!!! Shame on you DirecTV when your loyal customers need to cut their expenses and you force them into more costly packages. Your customer service employees are useless and not helpful at all.

    Canceled my NFL package several years. Every football season I am charged for the NFL package without my permission. This is the fourth year that this has happened and I am frankly sick and tired of having to fight with a rep that has no idea what they're doing. I asked to speak with a supervisor and now the rep is purposely making wait, because she is just having a bad day. I shouldn't have to feel this way as a customer who has faithfully been with this company for almost five years. I am so angry. I will make sure every family member I have will also cancel their service. ASAP!

    On July 26, I was to have my DirecTV service reconnected up at my new home. I had to cancel this appointment and rescheduled it for August 4. I had to cancel this appointment also due to emergency surgery. After surgery on August 12, I contacted DirecTV to have them set up a new date for installation for the service at my new home.

    I have been a customer of DirecTV for over 8 years. At the time I tried to reschedule an appointment to have my service reconnected at the new address I was told by 7 different people at DirecTV (almost 4 hours on the line) that I did not have an account and they could not find any record of my account which I had for over 7 years. A DirecTV rep finally told me that only way I was going to have DirecTV for the football season was to create a new account in someone else's name. I did this creating a new account in my wife's name and on August 24 the tech installed the new service.

    On August 25 I got a bill in the mail for the old account at the previous address on the account that no one could find a record of for services for the month of September. I contacted DirecTV and the rep agreed that there was no reason for what had happened and that she was sorry for all of the trouble I had and then told me that I still had to pay for the service for the account that was never found or reconnected as I requested on three different occasions. I never had any trouble dealing with DirecTV in the past, in moving my services or any questions I may have had on my bill but everything was so screwed up after AT&T took over. I do not know if this is just bad luck or what, but if there was any other option for NFL Season Ticket I would not have DirecTV.

    I am going to have to pay for service and pay for ending my account on a DirecTV account that I have had for over 7 years because the people at DirecTV couldn't find the account when I wanted it reconnected but they didn't have any trouble when it came to billing me for it. What a scam. I hate to think what is going to happen next month when I get how many bills from DirecTV. In dealing with DIRECTV for the last time they repeatedly wanted to cancel the service that had just been installed at my new home and continue the service on the account that no one could find. The reps just don't listen and some have a very hard time understanding and/or listening to the customer.

    Left Dish for Directv recently and have had several issues which have been resolved. The issue I am concerned with now pertains to an older model equipment receiver and an unresponsive remote control. When technician set up the Genie in my house I questioned him why the box was so big and why I was given an older remote model. He explained that the newer models were unavailable but this one would do the same job as the newer model. I hesitated but relented. Now I have discovered that it takes 5-6 seconds for the remote to change channels so I called and a very nice woman ordered a newer remote at no charge. However, after returning to the website I noticed that the remote is only compatible with HR44 Genies and above. I have an HR34 which is not compatible with the newer and faster Genie remote.

    On the website both the Genie remote and the universal remote are displayed. The Genie remote is advertised as "Faster response time than our standard Universal Remote, so your receiver reacts instantly to every button-press." I am a new customer and expect to at least have the best equipment available at the beginning of my two-year contract. We all know how hard it is to get upgrades as existing customers! I called and was told that it was impossible to switch so I asked to speak with a supervisor that told me that up to an 8 second delay was to be expected and that it was impossible for them to choose which model DVR is given to customers. I almost blew my top but asked to speak to his supervisor. I was then put on hold for 45 minutes. Yes, 45 minutes!

    I called back and a young lady has sent an email to someone (?) who may possibly be able to authorize a newer model Genie. This may or may not work out. She should be calling back on Thursday but there is still no guarantee that I will receive a Genie that is actually compatible with the Genie remote! Why, oh why is this so difficult!!! I spent 3 hours on the phone yesterday and I still do not have an answer. How much of my time must be eaten up with something so clearly wrong and so easily corrected! Some customers receive better equipment than others at random? I do not understand.

    Was sold by a salesperson at Best Buy. August of 2014 signed up and recently received notice that the fine print of our contract would allow the doubling of the package rate after one year. We reduced our package and are still paying more than the contract was at the beginning. The cancellation charge would have us paying $20.00 a month for a year. This is really deceptive and we are considering going with Dish, paying the cancellation charge to Directv and our total will be less than the increased rate. READ THE SMALL PRINT and don't believe what the desperate salesperson tells you at Best Buy. Isn't a 2 year contract for 2 years? What DirecTV doesn't seem to realize is that they have lost a customer FOREVER.

    I got DIRECTV 5 months ago and the experience has been hell from day 1. The installation guy left a mess in my house and a hole in the wall he didn't use and charged me $50.00 for a kit to put the dish on my roof. So much for FREE installation!! I've complained and got the run around on that scenario.. Now I'm getting billing issues, I called to cancel my HBO, Cinemax and pay channels and was talked into keeping them for $22.00 a month.. Okay sure that sounds great. Well next month all charges are on and bill is $53.00 higher than normal. I call and they take $32.00 off. Next month the $32.00 is back. I call and 1.5 hrs later I try to cancel service and finally they fix my bill... Terrible business and absolutely no compensation for my time!!! It's amazing how these companies get away with how they treat people.

    I have had difficult time getting an install, after 3 separate days of staying on phone up to one hour, to three hours. I hope that after 9 days they will be here soon. Work order numbers seem fruitless cause they couldn't seem to find any of them. I first order on Aug 13th of 2015 and as of Aug 21st of 2015, still waiting... had address wrong.. had phone number wrong.. had no work order to correct it.     Recently found out that we can no longer watch football games with the San Diego chargers as Directv does not want to pay for these games. They still advertise every game every Sunday however these games are not shown on the NFL network, or Sunday ticket due to the local station has the broadcasting rights.     I have been with DirecTV since March 2013 (was a previous customer but as we all know, new customers get the best prices so I switched and came back). In March of 2013 I agreed to a two year agreement. In August of 2015 I called to research my options. My bill had gone up to ~$200/mo and I wanted a better rate (like a new customer) and would be willing to sign another 2 year agreement to do so. I was told that wasn't an option and that I would have to call back in two months to discuss other options once the current credits on my account expired. So, I switch to AT&T and called to cancel. I was told at that time I would be charged a $260 cancellation fee because I upgraded Sept 2014. That was a surprise to me. We moved houses but brought our equipment with us. However, we did add a wireless receiver to a 5th TV and by doing that was told that our contract was restarted for 2 years.

    I don't dispute that this happened as if you have ever bought/sold and moved a household in 3 weeks, it's a crazy time. The premise is that I have been a customer for well over two years and to penalize me for adding a receiver is terrible business practice. Beyond that was the lack of respect I was given during the process. Very contrite responses. (i.e. When I asked to speak to a supervisor the response was "Our supervisor doesn't speak to people like you about situations like this.") Therefore, over a $260 cancellation fee, DirecTV will lose thousands of dollars in business from me. But my hope is to spread the word so that as a company they will see that their hard-line stance in "policy" will ultimately cost them business.

    I called DirecTV interested in signing up for services for 4 TVs - 1 in my living room & 3 in my office. The features and pricing is great up until the contract is up, which is fine - I can afford it. I sign up. The salesperson schedules an appointment for installation between the hours of 12-4 pm. The technician promptly shows up at 12:40. I explain to him that there will be three boxes in one room - my office. He says he can't do it, because if I try changing a channel to one of the boxes, it will change the channel to all boxes. He continues that the boxes I need he doesn't have them, and he won't get them till next week, that I have to call to reschedule requesting for a different box - not a Mini Gene. So, I call, talk to Sales Support. The salesperson says I was ill-advised, that the Mini Genes should work separately although near each other. She precedes to say she'll make a note for the technician to take two different boxes to prevent this from happening.

    Fast forward to the second scheduled appointment for installation scheduled at 12 - 4.. The technician shows up somewhere between 6 - 6:30, over two hours late. The technician then tells me the exact same thing that the first technician had told me. At this point I am very confused. The technician suggests to either buy a Matrix (used in restaurants and bars) or to get wireless Genes. With the wireless Gene you can program one remote to work multiple boxes in a close proximity without interference to other boxes. But, he can't install them because he does not have the boxes (despite the salesperson telling me she made a note for the tech for two different boxes), and that I have to call and cancel my order and create a new order. He continues by saying that, "the boxes are more expensive", which I'm fine with - I can afford it, I just need service! Also, that I have to create a new order to see if I qualify for a discount on the boxes.

    Once I have created a new account, to text him the Activity # (I think it's also called a Billing ID#) so he can then have the boxes set aside first thing the following morning to install at 7 - 8 am. I call Sales Support, cancel my account, and create a new order with wireless Genes with an additional charge of $20 for shipping and handling that I was not charged on my first order. The technician never shows up or returns my call the next morning. I call DirecTV, explaining my grievances.

    I've been very patient with them and have never been abusive - I've been nothing but calm and understanding, but my experience has been a nightmare. If it wasn't a job requirement for DirecTV installed in my home office, I would not still be waiting for service. I do NOT recommend DirecTV to ANYBODY. The salesperson will apologize and say, "DirecTV is #1 in customer service," "we'll give you a $100 off," all these feeble attempts to make their customer reconsider canceling their order - well, it is simply NOT worth it! BUYER BEWARE!

    After cancelling my DIRECTV service, I was lured back with a reconnect offer ON A RECORDED CALL from DIRECTV agent Giovanni on July 11, 2015. The package price was supposed to be $59.63 per month. After numerous calls to DIRECTV, I was told my account was updated to reflect the $59.63 per month charge. My current bill is now up to $175.79! I have spent hours on the phone with various departments, communicated via e-mail, etc. to no avail.     My new DirecTV came with 3 months free access to HBO, Starz, Showtime and Cinemax. I decided to cancel all the movie channels but 1 - which was Showtime. I have been told that because the movie channels monthly cost is 50.99 they give me a credit in that amount, which balances out to a charge of $0 for the customer. But since I canceled the service and they can not give me the credit of $50.99 they have to charge me for the cost of the free movie channels.

    Now never mind the fact that I did not ask for this service. I did not want this service and it was suppose to be free. At the same time I find this out, I also find out I am in a contract until 2017!!! No Integrity! No customer service! I have never experienced such deceptive customer service before and I still do not know what my monthly bill will be.

    DirecTV is a money-hungry company that will do anything to steal your hard-earned money through hidden fees and gimmicks. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT ever engage yourself in a contract with this terrible vendor, and I will tell you why. To start off, I wasn't able to get internet service at my apartment complex without getting DirecTV. I could only get internet by purchasing TV from DirecTV and internet from AT&T as a bundle. If this isn't robbing people in blind daylight, I don't know what is. It put a bad taste in my mouth from the very beginning.

    My rate was $15 a month for the first year of signing with DirecTV, and after a year, they raised it to $49 a month. From the very beginning, I told them that I wouldn't be willing to pay $49 dollars a month for the basic service. They told me, "It's fine! After a year, you can call back and negotiate your rate back down to $15, don't worry." So not only are they thieves, they are liars, because this clearly did not prove to be true. When I received the $49 dollar bill in the mail, I immediately called the customer service, which is the worst that I've ever dealt with. I was on the phone with them for 50 minutes -- it took 40 minutes of holding, listening to propaganda about how great the company is, to actually get someone on the phone. When I finally got connected to a customer service representative, they told me they could lower my rate down by $5 and that's the best they had.

    I asked them why they value new customers over existing loyal customers, who have been paying their bills on a regular basis. They then proceeded to tell me that they value all customers the same, yet, new customers get a $30 dollar discount, while existing customers are eligible for a $5 discount, and that's only if they call to complain. Interesting to see how much existing customers are "valued." I then asked to cancel my account, at which point, I got put on hold for another 15 minutes. When I got connected, the customer service rep told me that there was a disconnect behind what the company offered and what I wanted. He told me that I just had the basic TV, and DirecTV didn't specialize in that. He told me that I was behind the times, which was probably why I was dissatisfied. Really not a great idea to insult one of your "valued" customers and someone who is trying to disconnect from your service.

    I am now stuck with paying a $220 disconnect fee, which, by the way, they didn't explicitly tell me about when I connected with them. And you wonder why young people don't want to buy TV anymore. A word to the wise, DirecTV, if you want to maintain your market share amongst young people, lower your prices, or improve your service. You can't claim to offer great service, when your customers can't even watch TV when it rains or get in touch with a customer service rep without spending an hour on the phone holding. You are not worth one single penny, and I will let all of my network of friends and colleagues know this. I hope you remember our conversation, as well as the many conversation like ours, when you are watching your business dwindle and asking yourself why.

    I moved to a 3rd floor flat that has no land and no balcony. It is not feasible to put a dish at my location. Nevertheless, DIRECTV is till charging me a cancellation fee around $430. I forwarded a letter to the President's Office from the management company for my condo. This letter explicitly stated that I cannot have a dish at my condo. It took me many hours by making 3 phone calls, answered a lot of questions including my social security, credit card info and then I still could not have the right answer for my question "what is the quote???".     I called DirecTV to cancel the service and they tried to charge me $400 to discontinue the service. I thought it was a joke but they were serious! They said I agreed to do a 24 month agreement which I NEVER ever agreed to or signed any agreement. When I was signing up with DirecTV, the salesperson said the service could be canceled anytime WITHOUT penalty. They are misleading when they sign you up saying that everything is easy and you can cancel anytime, no problem. A bill for $400 just to cancel service is highway robbery and now I'm thinking this is FRAUD. There should be a class action lawsuit against DirecTV for charging these exorbitant fees.

    He promised us a 2-year contract (DIRECTV does not offer a 2-year contract). He told us that the $50.00 fee would be waived. We had to fight with DIRECTV to get it waived. DIRECTV originally told us that they were not responsible for their 3rd-party sales people. They did finally waive it. The rep told us that the rate would be 31.90 a month. It's actually $42.00 per month to get the channels that he promised us for 31.90. DIRECTV will not honor his contract with us. He told us he would also get us a better deal on our internet. That bundle of TV and internet would have saved us $75.00 a month. He didn't follow through with that at all. The $75.00 savings is the only reason we agreed to switch to DIRECTV. DIRECTV could honor what the sales rep promised us, but they won't.

    I sat down to watch the SD Charger game on DirecTV, for which I have a contract stating that I get Local Channels. I am also charged a "Regional Sports Fee". I spoke with Customer Service regarding canceling my service as the only reason I have cable is to watch Local Sports and ESPN. I have 7 months left on my contract and when I requested that they waive the "Early Termination Fee" ($140), so that I can cancel service and go with a provider that can offer the Chargers, they refused. Instead they offered me a reduction of $20/month for the next 12 months. This does me no good because I am still paying $70/month for a cable TV package that does not meet my needs! DirecTV should have done the correct thing and waived the cancellation fee. They have lost a customer for life!!

    My boyfriend and I decided to get Directv/CenturyLink in June of this year. What a mistake. Nothing but problems from the get go. (1)The rep said we'd be hooked up on a Sunday, no problem. There's a problem. When the tech no showed I called on Monday to find out what the deal was. The person said that the tech came out and no one was home. Lie. Found out they don't do service calls on Sundays. (2) The modem didn't arrive until a week later so no wifi to even have service. Called again. This time we were told it was sent out last week. Lie. Finally got the modem and a tech out here to hook up the TVs. Went over the contract. Great deal blahblahblah. Nice price, etc. Signal stronger than ever, storms don't affect it. Lies.

    (3) We are now 2, yes, 2 months in and the bill has tripled! And the account number was changed by either CenturyLink or DirecTV. How and why, we don't know and neither do they. They're both blaming each other at this point and yet we're the ones stuck with a massive bill. We spent over 2.5 hours on the phone with these people, plus 1 magical disconnect from the service operator, with no satisfactory answers. The problem is not fixed by a long shot. But dude did offer us some extra deals. As if freakin' ever we'd continue this faux relationship with this company if we had a choice. Bad business practice.

    DirecTV - Full Time RV'ing: Upon going full time RV'ing we discovered most RV parks provide cable. For those that do not, the "Over the Air" antenna typically provides something. The first time we reached a location (Knight's Key) in the Keys that had no cable and nothing came in on the antenna, we then looked at subscribing to DirecTV because our recently purchased 8 year old motor home had a Winegard satellite dish we had never yet used. In February 2015 I contacted Winegard and asked if our dish would work and they indicated it would. They then transferred us to sales who signed us up and initiated sending a receiver to our current location in the Keys. Upon receiving it, I installed and turned on the box which made the roof dish start searching for a satellite... however it never stopped searching... even after 30 minutes.

    I then called Winegard and explained this issue. Upon citing the dish model they explained that with our receiver it would never stop on the satellite. They explained I would need to put the receiver in the mode showing the signal strength, watch the tv as the dish searched, and when the signal jumped up, hit the OFF button on the searching unit to stop it at that place. After about 4 attempts, I was actually able to perform this. Next issue: Many channels were being received but NOTHING for the major networks such as NBC, CBS and ABC... which are mostly what we wanted. The dozens of other channels are pretty much worthless junk. So made another call for support and after explaining the dish model and the receiver model, I was told I could never get the network channels because the dish was a single LNB and could not get multiple satellites reception which was required to get the network channels.

    Having no other choice we occasionally watched the junk channels for two weeks while staying at Knight's Key in February... and that was the last we used it. Too hard to site in a satellite and it did not get network channels. And for the next several months we were paying $29 a month... for nothing. The alternative was to purchase and install the newer compatible Traveler's dish ($1500.00)... which we considered but eventually passed on because 99% of the time RV parks or "over the air antenna" do work. So now in August... I called to cancel the DirecTV and the lady wanted me to wait for yet another troubleshooting expert.

    After 40 min I just said, "CANCEL THE SERVICE." I already know it will not work and I do not need to wait for my cell phone battery to die while she tries to catch up. Soooo... she informs me A) a return kit will be sent to me and I have 21 days to return the equipment and if not returned in time it could be a cost of up to $130. B) Cancelling the contract could cost me up to $300. Because we are full time RV'ers and use a mailing address out of Florida, the kit first goes there. I have then had it forwarded to our current location at a cost of about $30 to get it to me fast so I can attempt to get the equipment back to DirecTV within the 21 days. Nothing about this experience has worked well, and I will NEVER again get involved with ANY satellite company. What a lying, deceiving, costly mess.

    I had your service a few years back - my apartment lease was up and they raised my rent so I decided to move. When I got my new apartment they told me I could not have a dish. I called you guys and was told they cannot do that. I cancelled my "contract" and they sent me a bill saying I had to pay out the contract - I told them "I can't get service here". I sent the equipment back and told them I am not paying. I have seen so many dishes going up in this complex - (plus I am sick of COX).

    I called DIRECTV to have it installed, they told me I had an outstanding balance and I said "FINE I'll pay it" and I did. The service guy came Sunday the 8th and told me I don't have the right access to receive it and it can't be installed. That's what I told them 3/4 years ago... so now I paid $300 + dollars and can't get your service! I feel you owe me that money back, I was told that if they can't move the service to my new apartment - I won't have to pay cancellation fees.

    I "still" want the service - like I said I am sick of COX CABLE. Is there any way you can help me get service. They say I can only install on my patio/back porch - it faces directly north. Can I put it on a pole on the west side of my apartment (I am on the corner) and get the service? Me think I should get a refund if you are able to install it - I am fine with the charges. Thanks.

    I asked for HDTV receiver, I was being charged for this receiver. Seems the installer may have called in to Directv and activated and then stole it. We never received it. The installer said he left it with a note on the door. Well we have a gate and so he can't leave it at the door. Changes were made to our account with an "authorized user", we never authorized. No one with that name in my family, I asked them to listen to the recording. The good thing they placed a password on my account now. No one has offered a credit, we'll see. This is FRAUD!! This went on for over year and a half. We have been charged like this for over thousand dollars plus my time for calling, I make quite a bit. If it is DIRECTV and do this to millions it would make them MAJOR CROOKS. Making money off the backs of people that they count on are busy raising a family working and unable to check their bills. SHAME!

    I was a customer of DIRECTV because my sister spoke highly of them. I was in a contract the first year although during that year the price was never the same and when I called to pay my bill I was talked down to and told several times that they (DIRECTV) could use my "card on file" and were hateful. I was out of the contract for over a year or more when we had to move to our cabin while work was done on a house we were going to flip and move I called and was told by a young and very rude girl that 'I would pay one way or another', she would use the cards I had on file. I asked for a supervisor and explained I would NEVER agree to a year contract again. I talked to a very helpful supervisor and she said the first girl was unprofessional and had no right to say that.

    Fast forward, service was disconnected as I asked and then they never picked up any of the boxes or remotes either time I moved. That would save money right there!!! Two weeks later, I go on my bank website and the company pulled $260.00 out of my account and when I called to discuss this issue all 4 people were rude and clueless. I asked where they sent all these bills or the letter stating they were raiding my banking account and they said "Well ma'am, not to the mailing address, but the address where the cabin is." I said I cannot get mail out there and that I can't even receive mail out there.

    They did not care and will not resolve the problem. I had no problem paying the final bill but I never received one due to everything being sent to the wrong address. I would never allow anyone to access my bank account and I am astonished that they decided I was signed up for a year contract. No proof at all. I am fighting it and want DIRECTV to get all the equipment they toss away with every customer. I do not know where half of the employees come from, but they have no training.

    I expect the stolen money back in my account and IF they think I owe them for a year contract then send me to a collection agency. I should sue for the trouble their poor judgment cost me. I was told by one guy that if I would just sign back up they would drop the year contract fee??? I don't have any cable and will not be getting any. Be cautious, they say that the year contract was signed when they came out and installed it. I wasn't home and a 19 year old would not sign something that serious. She signed that the work was completed although the technician drilled through our very old tile and left it everywhere after instructed not to go near the tile wall.

    Been told from a Directv supervisor at the Costco location in Norwalk CT few months ago, that I can order more receivers for my house when needed at no cost, but that I had to pay the monthly service. After spending like 1 1/2 hours with the person, the time comes to order the others receivers and I have had the worst time trying to get the receivers. They claim that there's no way that they offer this and since then I left several times my phone waiting for someone to return my call and take care this issue. They want me to pay for equipment that I don't need to buy since I'm paying for their service.

    I'm willing to pay for the rental of the equipment but just the false promise to get you into something to sale their product and make a very unhappy customer. I'm trying to solve this since the 3rd week of Feb 2015. And we just going or circles. No one take responsibility for what they offer. Don't sign with Directv at Costco - they are just a big mess. Save yourself a big headache.
