I have issue when my brother added his own account at the same house that I am at. The directv people did not give him his own cable dish except they piggybacking on mine and make it frustrating because now I'm unable to watch cable in my own bedroom when my brother is watching a show that I recorded from my genie with his dvr.

I called on October 4, 2015 to get Directv installed in my house. The salesperson was great. No complaints there. He help me out, offer me the best service and even got my wifi service with them. Great. It was easy and fast and he was helpful. He ran my credit, my info and everything check out. He said schedule my installing for the following Monday, October 12.
On that day I called in to make sure everything will be ok and good to go. While I called I found out that At&t was there at my place installing the wifi. But talking to directv I got the news that they won't be installing the service that they promised. I got the confirmation and agreement email but not good enough. Their excuse what that like my old address due to some family members having a balance due I cannot get my services connected. My account was flag due to my last name and my old mailing address.
So why do they even ask you for your social security number. They responded by saying that it's due to identify the people requesting services... huh? So if my brother owes money why am I getting flag for it. I'm not the one that owes them anything. They answer by like you are family or have the same billing address as they do you cannot get your service connect. So until I or my brother pays the bill my services will be installed. How is that fair. That's bs. So I talk to manager, supervisor, and even the dispute department and no one can help me until I have to collect or pay for my brother's balance.
That's a lot of bs. They never mention at the start. Or why would they even approve me. Why would they even offer me a better deal and plan. And each time I call they give me the same excuse, the same story or they just forward me to a number that should be open from 8 to 8 but no matter what time you call their office are always close cause I called too late. At 10am, 11am, really? And I left 3 messages and not yet have I received a call back.

This is to inform people about how DirecTV really is. This is going to be long and a bit redundant however it must be that way in order to correctly tell the story. I recently moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ from California. The plan was to rent a house while I was actively looking for one to buy. I moved into my rental house at the end of 2014. The house had already had DirecTV prior to me moving in. Nicely installed dish on the roof etc. We went a couple of months just watching Netflix and DVDs but around Christmas we decided to get DirecTV. I called DirecTV and explained my situation (rental house but looking for a house to buy) and asked the sales person "what happens when I find the house I want to buy here in the next few months?". The answer and I quote "No problem at all sir. We here at DirecTV want to make your move as painless as possible."
"Simply take your receivers and remotes to your new house and leave the dish on the rental house. We will come set up everything and get you going again FREE OF CHARGE with a 2 year agreement". Great!!! So I thought!! When I found the house that I was to buy, I did exactly what I was told and took the receivers and remote with me to the new address. I then called DirecTV to have them come set it up. DirecTV then told me it was going to be $214.00 to move my service!!! I explained calmly what I had been told when purchasing my contract. DirecTV's response "Sorry sir there is nothing I can do ". I then talked to a manager. Same result!! I had been bold face lied to at the sales stage of my DirecTV experience!! LIARS!!! Who in their right mind would sign a 2 year agreement knowing that they would have to pay hundreds of dollars when they bought a house 6 months later!!! Nobody. LIARS!!
Anyhow I reluctantly paid to have them "move my service". It gets better, way better when setting up the appointment for the tech to come out. I explicitly said "there is already a dish here at this house however it is on a tripod on the side of the house. I cannot have it on a tripod because I am adding onto the house and having a concrete slab poured in the next week right where the existing dish is." The person on the phone said that they noted it on the work order and it would be on the roof or high up on the side of the house. Well guess what?? Yesterday when I was out of town the installer came to connect everything. My wife and daughter were home in pajamas on the couch sick (it was 8 am). My wife again told the installer that the dish had to be on the roof or up high on the side of the house (like everyone else that I know has theirs), the installer said "no problem".
The installer did his thing and came back into the house telling my wife that everything was done and all good to go. I came home about 3 hrs later from California and being a typical man, I decided to check out the installer's work . He used the old dish and left it exactly where it was!!! He lied directly to my wife's face!!! (He should be fired immediately!!) He also installed the SWM box directly behind my t.v and just put it on the ground! (It should be mounted on the wall in the garage nicely like everyone else that I know has it)!!! It gets even better. I call DirecTV and after their ridiculous automated crappy phone system I finally get a human on the phone. He was actually quite nice and told me that the Local Dispatch office would be contacting me to set up a time to come fix it within the hour (the call not the fix).
He took my number down because my wife's number is on the account and she was going to work. Even though he took my number they continually tried to call her and couldn't get through because she was working!!! Gets better. DirecTV left a voicemail that said they were sorry but they were going to have to charge us again to come move the dish!!! WTF!!! THIS COMPANY IS NOTHING BUT THIEVES AND LIARS!!! I will be posting this everywhere that I possibly can. Yelp, Yellow Pages, Craigslist, forums, everywhere and I will not stop until I am compensated correctly!!! If you are DirecTV and are reading this my phone number is **.

Attempted to order DirecTV. They cancelled the installation stating I had an outstanding bill. I have never had DirecTV, so after checking, they stated it was a Lisa ** that lived in the same town. They transferred me to the verification department, however I was on hold for 45 minutes the first time, the second time I got a message that said it was after hours, time was 2:15 pm on Mon. 10-26. I left a message. Then attempted online chat, they also said I would have to leave a message. Very frustrating to be accused of having an outstanding bill of $900 and then not being able to solve the confusion. Also, being on hold for an extensive period of time.

This year to my surprise I was auto-renewed for NFL Sunday ticket and when calling not only was I unable to be refunded for a service I was not using I also couldn't cancel the remaining months of the service and had to continue paying $41.99 for a service I never wanted in the first place. DirecTV tricked me into changing over to them. I called to get a quote on TV. I told the guy all the channels that I had and that I wanted the same channels. I told him I wanted the basic, kids and premium channels. He told me it would be $73 per month for an entire year. I specifically asked how much my bill would go up after a year and he said, "Well you can always call and ask for the promotion to get the bill to go back down." He never said anything about the bill going up after 3 months. So I agreed got installed and after a month I found out my bill was going to go up $43 after 3 months. I have been going back and forth with these people since June. I requested to hear the recording of the phone conversation. I was told that they can't do that, I was told that they requested it but, then found out a week later that it was never requested. The list goes on and on.
I finally (at the end of July) got a hold of a woman that's worked in the president's office - she said she had a copy of the phone conversation. We played phone tag. The last time I left her a message she never called back so I waited a little while and then wanted to call her back. I misplaced her phone number so I called customer service to say that I misplaced her phone and if they could transfer me or give me her phone number. NO ONE could transfer me NO ONE could give me her phone number NO ONE could contact her. I took me weeks to finally get someone from the president's office to call me back.
Finally listened to the phone conversation. In the conversation I specifically told the guy what I currently had for channels and that I wanted the same ones and asked what my monthly bill would be and for how long. He told me my bill would be $73 per month for an entire year. His exact words. At the very end of the phone he quickly stated the disclosures (by this I mean he spoke so quickly you could barely understand what he was saying and he was saying taxes are not included and saying something about 2 year contract and so forth in the middle of all of that he snuck in that my bill would go up $43). He purposely made me think that my monthly bill was going to be $73 for 1 year and then snuck it in at the end so that I wouldn't notice. He clearly was avoiding telling me this.
Now all of a sudden my monthly bill is over $50 more a month and when asked about that they claim that that is the amount my bill was suppose to go up. So I have this problem plus the service stinks! My TV freezes up On Demand never works I always have problems renting movies. I had a technician come out about the On Demand and he pretty much told me that I will have to deal with it because the On Demand service doesn't work that great. Everytime I call I'm on the phone at least an hour and nothing gets resolved.
I swear that the requirements to work at DirecTV is that you need to be really stupid and not helpful. Either that or DirecTV makes the customer service reps act dumb. I am now paying more money for tv and internet than what I was paying with Comcast with tv, internet and phone. DirecTV is the worst company to deal with! Stay away from them. They should be shut down for poor service and false representation of their product.

We have been customers with DirecTV for 14 years. The service was OK, but the fees kept going up and up. I looked into Dish Network, and found I could get equivalent service for $70 per month cheaper for two years, and it'll still be significantly less expensive after that period. So I canceled DirecTV. They tried to keep me, but the best they would offer was still $30 per month more expensive. So I switched. They charged me an exorbitant fee for leaving (after 14 years). I'LL NEVER GO BACK. I also looked for a BBB rating. They're not rated, but the BBB lists 41 customer reviews. 1 is positive, 1 is neutral, 39 are NEGATIVE. Sort of speaks for itself about how customer-centric this business is...

When I was so frustrated spoke to Supervisor and was told I still have another year and a half before I can cancel with DirecTV per my contract. When I asked her if customer service matters she basically said that's a different call center and service rep I spoke to was not under her specifically but she will put in the complaint. After speaking to 2 people at DirecTV and trying to get new service I was connected to my third rep. Michael who answers my question regarding the equipment and programming. DirecTV doesn't offer Internet, but they could accommodate 2 tvs with 2 boxes so I could record up to 5 channels at a time in 2 different rooms. I called back to ask "when I go through another company for Internet does it matter which modem I get" the first DirecTV rep transferred me to someone stating "yes, it does matter" and that in order to access certain things would require "a kit".
She transferred me to a 3rd young lady who proceeded to tell me that I have installation scheduled for 2 wired boxes (not at all what I was told), one would be dvr and will be able to record 2 shows and 1 box w/o recording capability (I was told DVR/HD comes standard on ALL boxes now and I can record up to 5 channels on each box). The last rep told me I would need the Genie Program that would be $99 and to add wireless would be an additional $99. Not happy right now. One thing is promoted but clearly not what I receiving. I set up an appointment, the technician arrived 15 minutes after the 12 pm - 4 pm time frame and stay outside in his car for 10 minutes. Finally he rings the doorbell & says he can hook up the dish but the receivers cannot be programmed. So I explained I do not want it set up if I am not able to watch tv. He says he needs to contact someone & leaves without saying anything. I call DirecTV & tell them I need someone to come back, they said no one is available. I asked the order be cancelled & call a few days later to pay off account and be done with it. I again get offered no installation fee, no connection fee, removal of the disconnection fee, free premium channels for 3 months and a $200 visa card.
I also asked if I would still be able to watch the Spurs basketball & my husband watch his soccer. They said yes. On installation day I am missing so many channels. I called and tell them if I don't get what I was promised to cancel everything. They add my channels including the premium. A week later I get a bill with $50 plus fee for the premium channels. I get told no one noted the account so they can't honor my premium channels & that I have to pay for them. So I asked to have them removed and I asked that the calls be pulled so they can hear what was offered to me. They say they can't and that I have to contact headquarters. I called headquarters and was told to send an email. I did. I get a call saying they'll give me the premiums if I pay $30 now and then free for 3 months. I say "I will not pay and will wait until 10/29/15 to get them free."
Then pre-basketball season begins and I cannot watch the games, I am told they are blacked out and have no control over that. They said I have to get the NBA pass and pay for it. I explained that was one of my requirements to come back then I get told there is a problem with the programming and I cannot watch the game even if I pay. At this point I said "since all that was promised to me is not being provided that voids my contract". They say I have to pay $20 per month on a 2 year contract to cancel it even though they are now part of Att! This is completely unprofessional I want to know if there is a way to get the calls reviewed and get out of this contract!! I deeply regret coming back to DirecTV and want to go back to ATT. Please help!!!

This is the first time I have signed up with television provider. I was excited about getting a great deal at the fair, where a DIRECTV booth was set up. I later found out that I was overcharged by the representative there, and there was no way to get to my money back unless I contacted that representative to get reimbursed. It was hard to understand that DIRECTV has no way to hold the people who work for them accountable. Also when I was charged my first month's installment it was 20 dollars more than I was told it was going to be. The team member I talked to at that time was very helpful and was very refreshing since I have called 3 times and the other times they couldn't give me any answers. Hopefully it gets better or this will be a long 2 years.

The pricing is great and whole house DVR for free for up to four TVs. Of course when they advertise the $19.99 package, it's never going to end up that price on your bill, as there are other added things that they don't mention until you sign up. My total price for the $19.99 package is $54.99 a month including tax (so they say) but I still consider this a very good price. The only problem is that I can't get Internet service through them or their affiliate AT&T as they do not offer it in my area of Murrieta, California. I'm not sure why as I am not in a remote area. They do have a nice feature that after the initial cable DVR box installed on one TV, I was able to have my subsequent TVs on a wireless mini DVR. Unfortunately, it's too early to say if everything works and how I like it, as my install is set up for next week. But if it works as good as they say it will, I think this would be a great bargain as I did my due diligence in shopping around with all the other providers.

The technician they sent to my house stole a pair of expensive sunglasses from my bedroom. I saw them sitting by the tv before he went in the bedroom. As soon as he finished in there I walked in and they were gone. I immediately asked him if he saw the sunglasses there and he said "yeah, they must have fallen on the floor when I moved the dresser." He then looked around on the floor for a second then said he had to get another receiver out of his van. When he returned he didn't mention anything about the glasses, just went about hooking things up in the living room. I spent the next 30 minutes turning the room upside down and the glasses were gone. He finished his installation and started to leave and I told him if I didn't find the glasses I was calling his company. He just said "Hope you find them" and left.
I immediately filed a police report then spent the next 6 or 7 hours on hold with DirecTV customer service getting transferred back and forth to different departments. Nobody could tell me who the technician was that came to my house. Finally they said someone from the local office would call me within an hour. That never happened. The next morning I started the grueling process of holding and being transferred over and over again. Finally I got on the phone with some higher up supervisors. They basically told me there was nothing they could. I then requested to cancel the service and they told me there would be a $400 cancellation fee since the account had been active for 24 hours. I'm cancelling anyway and will make it my life's work to spread the word about what a horrible greedy company this is.

I have been a DirecTV customer for about ten months and have referred four customers to them for a reduction in monthly charges for my TV service. I received an email from DirecTV in mid Sept. stating that in addition to the regular credit for referrals, I would get a $100 Visa gift card for each successful referral that took place by Sept. 30. I submitted two referrals to them online and they both became customers before Sept. 30. I received emails that said I was being credited with these two successful referrals. Then I got an email stating that one of those was not being credited to me but no specific reason given.
After email/phone inquiries from me they reversed and again said it was a good referral for credit to me. Then I questioned them about the $100 Visa gift cards and was told that I did not follow proper procedure for them and I would not get them. I checked the original email about this and there was no procedure given except to hit on that email and give referrals, which I did. So far they are saying I will not get the Visa gift cards, even though both referrals were successful and credited to me!? I told them I had a similar promise a few years ago for a gift card from another satellite tv service and I never got that one either, and I changed service from them for good. Now I have a similar scam situation going with DirecTV.

Tried to give 0 stars but that wasn't an option. I tried to sign up for DirecTV through Walmart on the 28th of September with installation set up for October 2nd. My social security number was given and the $19.95 was taken from my account for shipping and handling. The time given for installation was from 1 to 6 pm. I bought a new television for the Sunday Ticket and waited until about 5:30 until I contacted my sales rep. I received a call from my rep basically saying that there was something wrong with my account. My number was connected to my wife's account in which we owed money on, that was understandable, but I never received a call saying that my service couldn't be connected because of that. So I waited for nothing.
I finally made a few calls and after being transferred about 8 to10 times between 3 phone calls, I got my number disconnected from my wife's account so I could finally get service. I set up the installation for Friday, the 16th of October since I'm off on Fridays. The opportunity for overtime came up but since I had a tech coming out, I turned the ot down. The time set up was from 8 am to 12 pm and the tech showed up at about 10 am. Within 5 to 10 minutes he tells me that he can't connect my service because of trees and he couldn't put a post outside because of that reason also. I ended up canceling my service after buying a new television for the Sunday Ticket, over 2 weeks of waiting, and missing 7 hours of ot at work.
I'm really upset because of the lack of communication. I wasn't told about my number being connected to my wife's account prior to the original installation, even after giving my SS number and I wasn't warned about the placement of trees affecting my installation on the second installation date. It sucks that you have a customer that really wants service and no matter what I do, I can't receive it. Unfortunately, I'll be going back to Comcast.

I have recurring monthly auto-pay charge from DIRECTV for their services. It's usually around $50.00. Last night I went to buy a pizza and my card was declined. Came home, went online and discovered that my bank account was depleted of almost all of my funds because DIRECTV withdrew $403.37 out of my account. Why would they do this? I am in good standing with them. I don't owe them any money except the monthly bill, like I said. So I called them and couldn't get an answer at all. They told me to go online to www.billing.directv.com and file a dispute. After I finished with the online report I received an email stating to expect a response within 5-10 business days! Are you kidding me? 5-10 business days?!! In the meantime I had 2 NSF charges from my bank. And I believe there are more NSF charges to come. BAD BAD BAD!! I recommend you stay away from DIRECTV! Stay away from Auto-pay!
Updated on 11/7/2015: If you use your card to pay someone else's DirecTV account and they don't pay their bill DirecTV will use whatever card is on the account history to collect payment. That's happened to me. Here's the story... I roomed with someone who had a DirecTV account. I used my card occasionally to pay the bill. I moved out and got my own DirecTV account. About two months later, because my former roommate didn't pay her bill they used my card to collect. I disputed it, and because of some clause that was signed (not by me by the way) they had the right to access my card, and I lost the dispute.
I was on automatic payment with them. And because of what happened with my roommate's account I took them off of automatic payment. But now they charge me $10.00 more a month. I already pay $53.00 a month and now because I am not on automatic payment they are upping my bill to $65.00. And in another 8 months it will go up another $33.00. So that's $103 for a very, in my opinion, subpar service. So I cancelled. I am willing to pay the $400 cancellation fee and not have to deal with these people ever again!! I will never use this company again. I warn anyone who is thinking about being a customer to do some more research. Take the complaints about them seriously.

Long time DirecTV customer. Never had a problem with service. Three months ago I upgraded our service package to a "Premium Intro Offer" for $79. I was advised to call back in 90 days for the same "Premium Intro" price. The Customer Service Rep (CSR) said DirecTV would have that same $79 intro price for the next three 90 day time periods... provided I called back each time 90 days later to renew the offer. Considering the savings... I felt DirecTV's pricing was competitive and fair. That call was taped. I made that first 90 call-back-offer today. A new but polite DirecTV CSR said that offer no longer existed... but he could offer me another "Premium Deal" that would "save" me about $25 off the regular price. I was stunned that DirecTV would not honor what they said they would do.

My experience with DirecTV was good overall. Other than the disconnect at the end of the sales session, the representative was helpful in processing my order. The only reason I did not put a 5-star rating was because when I called the pending order phone number, the prompt to "cancel the order" was not operational. I tried the button 3 times and it continued to disconnect me. The connection must be broken.

My incredibly poor experience with AT&T has been ongoing now for over 3 months. Originating with an order to provide Internet/TV/telephone services for my new vacation rental/2nd home in San Diego, I ordered bundled services with a fixed monthly charge. I established service with an installation scheduled 10 July 2015. All services were up and operational during my visit from London in the summer, ending 26 August. At the end of our stay, I began to receive notices of unpaid DIRECTV bills. August 21, I spoke with Marcus in Salt Lake City, Utah and after investigation, was told that two accounts had been opened, one with the bundled AT&T services and the second, solely, DIRECTV. When I inquired about the late payment notices, AT&T told me that, as they were bundled, AT&T would be paying directly to DIRECTV. However, as they had just acquired DIRECTV, their systems had not yet been integrated.
I phoned on August 31 to speak to Margery who was going to escalate the problem to the back office, as she discovered that the two accounts remained open for the same service. I was told that the unbundled account would be closed and that only the bundled account would remain open. Subsequently, we left the country assuming all services were status quo and operational. When my property manager was in the property on 6 October, we discovered that the television was not working as no receivers were being recognized. After several phone calls to AT&T, and I do mean calls enduring anywhere from 1-3 hours, it was discovered that the account had never been closed and that the receivers from the unbundled account had not been transferred to the bundled account.
Several more calls and lots of time later, I have now spoken to another several "customer service" personnel; I have had to schedule an engineer to come to the house to reactivate the receivers on the bundled account. This means, I am further out of pocket as I have to compensate my property manager for these house visits. Unbelievably, this last agent, Christopher in New Mexico, a line manager, after 1.20 minutes on the phone threatened to cancel the engineer visit we agreed to as I was asking for reimbursement of the cost of my DIRECTV service for the time period between the disconnection of the receivers on 9/2/15 through the reinstallation date this Friday, 15 October. His argument was that as I wasn't in the house to have enjoyed the service, it is not refundable.
I am utterly perplexed how each and every agent I have spoken to has not followed through on any of their action items, whether closing the original double account, or escalating my inquiries to a case manager, providing disinformation on several accounts. I am out of pocket for fees to my property manager to go to the service address, to call AT&T and troubleshoot on the phone with them, all to no avail. I am still without service. I have tenants arriving in 10 days time and no television service.
AT&T has in no way taken responsibility for the hours of aggravation, for the out of pocket expense, and for asking for payment for a service which they have not delivered because of an internal error. Will AT&T do the proper thing and reimburse me for my expenses? Will they take any responsibility for these errors and for their incredibly poor customer service team, who have failed at every opportunity to correct this problem? I think they should be cited for negligence and held culpable. I am disgusted and looking for an alternate service.

DIRECTV agreed to charge $66.89 for a 12 month contract. Month 2 they raised it to $82.76. And after I called they told me that the call was recorded but that it belonged to them and unless I recorded the call. "You Have No Proof" is what Carol from DIRECTV says. I called back 2 more times even spoke with a supervisor and was told the same, "If you didn't record the call then we can't honor that price."

So far I have been more than underwhelmed with my experience with DirecTV. To start things off, my installation coordinator was less than professional and left a mess everywhere, did not clean up his garbage, cuttings, and left over cables. And of course, discovered this after I had completed his "customer satisfaction survey". There was a mistake made on my account when I signed up. Whoever signed me up forgot to include the NFL Sunday Ticket at no additional cost.
When the season started (2 months after I had signed up) I didn't have access to these games. I called customer service, speaking with incompetent person after incompetent person. Finally to take to an "account specialist" who tried to tell me changes could be made after 30 days and that she couldn't add it. EXCUSE ME?? This is one of the reasons I went with them in the first place, and the season didn't start for several months after, so how was I supposed to know that it wasn't added until the season started?
Long story short, she finally said she would add it to my account. Only to find it never was added. Queue another ridiculously long (1.5 hours) customer service phone call to get it all figured out. After speaking the "Presidents Office", it was added to my account, for the reminding portion of the season. Although my experience hasn't been great, unfortunately, most cable/satellite companies are just as bad. Corporate America sucks. You're just another number among millions of others and they just want your money.

I love everything about DirecTV. I couldn't be happier with them. I've been a satisfied customer for several years and pray that when I move to a new home, that DTV is available and HOA doesn't give me any problems about having a dish. Quality of both the product and customer service are exemplary of what all the other television providers should be doing but aren't. I LOVE DIRECTV!!!

When I reached out to DirecTV it was to find out what they could offer. After a few minutes on the phone we went from 90 dollars to 29 dollars. They sold me on the cinema package which is something that already comes with the deals. He told me I would be able to watch theatre movies a couple days after release (some) and turns out to be false.
After I agreed to the package for 29 dollars they set up a date to install the equipment. The day of install the guy could not finish the install because there was a freeze on my account and I couldn't reach the correct department due to being the weekend. After reaching the correct department on a weekday they verified and sincerely apologized for the inconvenience.
On the next installation day I spoke with a DirecTV rep and went over my billing before finishing install and she told me I was getting discounts for the first year and that my bill would be 26 dollars including genies (I recorded my calls) and proceeded the install. Well when I got my bill it was nowhere near that price. I was being charged 90 dollars including a one time discount and then went to being billed over 100 dollars a month. I will be taking them to small claims and recommend not to purchase services from this company.

The company representatives are not disclosing the information and/or giving the wrong information. I had 3 bad experiences in a row. DirecTV called me a month ago to offer equipment upgrade from regular HD receiver to DVR HD receiver. In return I agreed with 2 years contract. The agent promised there will be no extra fees neither for the installation, nor for the equipment, nor for the DVR services. The technician was never scheduled as promised and when we called to reschedule we had to argue with them to wave the technician's fee.
The monthly service fee increased by $15 which was not disclosed during phone offer even I asked particularly about the fees. The representative reassured me there will be no change in fees. When we signed up for Sunday NFL ticket over the phone in the beginning of this September the representative promised a discount. Despite that we were billed full price on the next billing statement and when we called DirecTV to follow up on it we were told the discount was never recorded on their system.
