    I currently have DIRECTV but I WILL NOT renew when my contract is up... The phone reps need to be trained better. I have talked to 5 different reps and still no HDMI upgrade. Everyone says something different even the "supervisor"... The price of what is supposed to be FREE changes depending on who you talk to and what time of day or night it is. I was told to call back on the18th to receive my "free upgrade" only to again be told a different price and given the runaround AGAIN. I finally decided that I was done trying to get anywhere with these people and will cut them loose at the end of my 2 year period... Find a more consistent company such as local cable or the sticks that people are buying... If AT&T don't do a major overhaul this company will probably be defunct in 3 years.

I thought he had, But after not hearing anything from anyone. I took action and called myself to find out he in fact did not. Although it was scheduled to start on 02/19/16.     Horrible customer service experience. I had been a loyal customer for 4+ years and moved to a new city. I placed my account on hold and once I moved into my new residence, called DirecTV to install at my new 1880 historical, white Victorian home. I waited 10 days for a technician to come out only to find that the house had no cabling and the only way to install was going to be to make a hole through the outside wall and wind two black cables around the front of my house going over my front windows and my front door. For obvious reasons I declined to go this route. I specifically asked the technician about my contract and he told me that if he could not install the service I would not have to worry about the early cancellation fee.

    A week later, I received a bill for - you guessed it - the early cancellation fee. After spending an hour on the phone telling my story to 4 separate people, I was told that since I CHOSE not to install their service that I still had to pay the cancellation fee. I responded that I didn't feel that I should be forced to let the installer put the hole through the outside wall and that the black cable running right over the front of the house was not the look I was intending. I spoke to a supervisor, Connie, who could not help me and when I asked to escalate the call to a manager I was told that the manager would just tell me the same thing.

    Once I got to speak to the manager, Amy, I asked if she had the authority to waive the cancellation fee. She said that she did but she said since I CHOSE not to install their service that I still had to pay it. Yes, I did make the choice not to install their service with the only option that was given to me. It was not an acceptable option and I still do not feel that I should be forced to install their service no matter how it affects my home. I even asked about white cable rather than black and was told that was not an option either. I do not feel as though I was treated fairly. Sure, they will tell you whatever you want to hear when you are signing up for their service but once you cancel you service they do not value you as a customer any longer. I will never have Directv again and I would never recommend their service to anyone looking for a cable provider.

    DirecTV promised me I would have an internet bundle with Verizon. Verizon can't provide service here, so I called DirecTV and explained my problem. It didn't matter, so now I have to pay over $400 to end my contract with them just so that I can have internet! What is wrong with this picture?

    When I first started with DirecTV I was very happy with their service and the number of channels they provided that were not premium channels. The number of HD channels was very good as well. 10 months ago my bill increased by over $50 a month. Yes, I should have noticed that but didn't. That does not mean that I agree to have premium channels added to my bill. DirecTV says after a free trial if I don't cancel my new channels they will automatically be added to my bill. They put a note on my bill saying this but I didn't see it. They can increase my bill any time they want without me ordering anything by saying - you didn't tell us not to so you got it and now you pay. I called and complained and they took $100 off the bill, not cash, of the $500 that I paid. Is there a law about charging you for something you didn't order? Probably not but really a underhanded way to get your money!

    I would never join DIRECTV if I was anyone! I had Dish for 4 years and they was the same way. The only difference here was at least when I called Dish they would try to give you discounts to make up for it. I just got tired of calling every month and now DIRECTV is same way. DIRECTV want take off anything. They just keep promising it will not go up anymore. It's been 3 months since I joined and all 3 months the bill was different. Take my advice don't join DIRECTV.

    The service constantly goes out due to rain, snow or any weather that is not sunny. I then find out that if snow or ice get on your dish at your home it can cause an outage so you need to brush the snow and ice away. Well the dish is on my roof so not sure how I can do that. Why we were not told this when they installed it, we could have chosen a more convenient location. Tired of paying the high rates that constantly go up and the service constantly being out.

    I was given a deal by a third party company for free half season NFL ticket and movie channels. I was as long told that I was not obligated to extend my contract. Then they kept billing me extra and when I told them I wanted to cancel they said I agreed to extend my contract a year. I told them to play the recording where I agreed to this. They stated they hire an outside company for the promotion and had not access. I threw their lying asses out of my house and went with Cox Cable. I never thought I would say this but Cox is 100 times better than DirecTV. I HATE DIRECTV AND FOR MY ENTIRE LIFE WILL NEVER USE THEM.

    Account #**. Since January of 2016 I have called DirecTV numerous times regarding the same issue. Most recently was 2/5/16, 2/7/16, 2/10/16, 2/13/16 and 2/15/16. The DVR was not functioning correctly. It only records one program at and the picture quality wavers between good and pixilated and freezing. Finally, after spending many frustrating hours on the phone on 2/13/2016 a technician decided to send me a new box. He explained hook up was simply.

    The new box came and I hooked it up, per the instructions and it could not detect the SWD (unsure) I called, the tech could not resolve my problem and again told me it was probably the satellite or I hooked it up incorrectly, neither was the case. I explained (totally frustrated at this point) that I was watching TV with no issues before I tried to hook the box up, I asked her if she would help me hook the previous box up and she said "no", she would send a tech to the house. I asked what I was supposed to do until the tech decided to come with no tv she had no answer.

    In the interim, I re-hooked the old box back up myself and my tv worked. Another tech called and we went over a few things and he said he would send a tech to the house BUT they could only come between 12-4. This is impossible for me, I work, I would lose my job if I took a half day for my tv. I asked him if he could schedule for after 3 and was told NO. People work, people live alone, I've never heard of a service not flexible for the consumer. I told him I wanted to speak to a manager, I just wanted out of my contract with DirecTV, they had caused enough stress, loss of programming and time.

    It has taken more than 6 weeks to get any action from DirecTV and then when I do, direcTV did not offer any compromise to correct the ongoing issue. DirecTV has the most horrendous customer service. I told the rep I want to speak to a manager, I wanted out of my contract and did not feel I should be charged considering DirecTV failed terribly putting their customers first.

    The manager Travis ID #** was unsympathetic and did not care about the duress I suffered through this ordeal. He told me they would hold me to my contract, which I plan to fight, because they offered me a solution. A solution that would not only compromise my job but cost me half a day's pay as well. I am going to the BBB and possible the newspaper. I have never been treated so meaninglessly from a service in my life.

    I was a DirecTV customer for years. At first, I was reasonably satisfied with what I paid for, but once the introductory rate ran out... wow. Nearly $100 a month.

    Lord forbid you put them on auto-pay... they WILL gouge you. Also, the value of their packages became less and less over time. A LOT of the channels are infomercials, videoless music, etc. They'll try to retain you, then re-up your rates to insane fees. My bill changed EVERY month. It was ridiculous. I finally got rid of them. I put up a $40 low-profile antenna where their ugly dish used to be and get 44 channels - all the major networks. I bought a Fire Stick for $39 off Amazon. It has a lot of free things to watch, plus I got Netflix for $8 a month (NO contract). I get WAY more quality content now, I'm saving nearly $100 a month, AND I'm not letting DirecTV rob me any longer. I am MUCH happier without DirecTV.

    I wanted to get the Wireless Genie instead of the HD receiver we currently have. They want to charge me a $150 installation fee. I said I can install myself but they won't let me. Really, come on, who doesn't know how to install a wireless receiver? Everything is wireless nowadays. Why do I have to pay them for something I can do myself? I am already paying at least $20-$30 more a month for our monthly plan than what a new subscriber can get but now you want to gouge me $150 to do something I WANT and am quite capable of doing myself!!

    Once they have you on the hook for two-year contract, your bill will increase each month. They'll add premier service, protection plan and if you don't look at your statement and do auto payment. You'll get ripped off of thousands of dollars by the end of your contract. Calling is useless as the service people have no idea what's going on and have no authority to give customers monetary credit for services they didn't order. This is fraudulent to constantly add services you don't want and then charge you for them. I have to call every month to get the billing corrected. I had auto pay and lost credit card so needed to request new one and DIRECTV now charging me $10 a month because I didn't have a credit card to charge to. They will not re-install credit with new credit card. I cannot wait to get service from another provider.

    I was on hold for 26 min and the 9.36 and 12.40 and 23.37 and 29.37 min today that makes 100.60 minutes that I was on hold. I had a customer service representative yell a curse word before putting me on hold. I had another one (Charles) refuse to give me his id#. I spoke with King (**) he informs me that I was "lied to 2x". Lied To. Once on the policy for a refund and then again with Charles refusing to give me his ID #. So, my experience with DirecTV is this. I was lied to, put on hold for 100.60 minutes, and cursed at. Is this the way a business should run??

    For nearly 3 years, my bill with DIRECTV was $79.84. We moved in October 2015, and since we've moved the bill has crept up to be $141.86. When I call to question why it had increased, I was told that the promotions had expired. I asked to speak to a supervisor because the young lady didn't seem confident in her answers. She put me on hold and tossed the called back into the queue, so I had to explain everything another Rep.

    The 2nd young was very nice and broke down each increase on my bill. She also gave me a 1 time credit of $25 to cushion the blow, which I really appreciate. She suggested that I speak with the Retention Department because they had the authorization to offer discounts that she could not. A warm transfer was done to that department, and the lady I spoke with was so flippin rude. Told that I'd had $50 credits for a while and they had already done enough for me. So I tell her that I'll be seeking another provider because I can't afford a cable bill that's more than my electric and gas bills combined. She proceeded to tell me that when I moved and got another DVR that I signed a new 2 year contract and would be charged $400 if I canceled.

    Why is it that we're stuck to such a lengthy contract, but their discounts don't last nearly as long? DIRECTV only values the new business they bring in but does nothing to show appreciation and maintain the customers they already have. I talked my sister into switching about a year ago. She said having the exact same problem with her bill doubling. It's no coincidence that this is the reason I left AT&T Uverse tv service years ago and am experiencing the exact issue now that AT&T has acquired DIRECTV. Just tragic!

    As the homeowner of a duplex, my tenant has direcTV. The roof is being replaced, my tenant is out of town and the roofers need DirecTV to replace a deteriorated bracket that is attached to the surface of the roof.     I had DIRECTV for years and decided to change providers because my bill was getting out of hand. I called several times trying to lower my bill and was told they could not do anything for me. When I called to cancel AFTER I already had installed cable with another provider all of a sudden they could help me out! Well TOO LATE!     I had great internet/phone/cable service from Grande; however, the bill kept climbing. I decided to lower my expenses and give DirecTV a chance. As a result, I placed an order with them to swap my services from Grande to them and entered HELL. They spent a whole day at my house ripping out the Grande equipment and installing the DirecTV equipment. It ended up that they could not complete the work due to a technical issue. They, however, assured me that it would be resolved quickly. What a joke! I have spent three days trying to resolve this without any progress. I have communicated with a multitude of people at DirecTV/AT&T who have no idea what is going on and unable to help including a "Veronica" who is allegedly with their "office of the president".

    What a useless title! All I have received thus far is incompetence and empty promises with no idea when I can return to a normal life. In my opinion, this is the worst customer service in existence. I cannot even get them to simply return my Grande service and get out of my life. I would not wish DirecTV to anyone, unless they wanted me to suggest a way they could experience internet/phone/cable HELL on earth. Adding insult to injury is that I am still paying for the Grande service during this time...

    My partner and I moved to Phoenix, AZ in 2009, which we bought a bar and our home. We did have Cox as our cable and internet provider for a while and we did not like that so we switched our service to DirecTV. So for the last 6 years we have had DirecTV in our home and at our place of business. I was calling them today to ask about our satellite box and they explained that they have had issues with this model so she is sending me out a new box that should take care of things she was very pleasant and handle my request very nicely.

    After hanging up the phone I was looking at my bill for the first time to see what we have been doing and I came across that we have had NFL Sunday ticket on there and (the reason I don't check my bill every month is that I have direct billing that goes straight to my CC.) that's why I would have never known that was on there. So proceeded to call and see how 1 to get it off there and why it would be on there anyway we would have never ordered it for the house. I talked to a lady first she said she could stop the NFL Sunday Ticket but there is nothing they can do to reimburse me for the other months that I have had this in there.

    Again I said there is no way that I would have ordered this service, she said well since the nil is over they can't do anything. I asked to be transferred to the supervisor a gentlemen came on the line and I told him my situation and he said there is nothing I can do and I replied when did I get this service put on even though I never ordered it he said it was a freebie in the beginning when you started your service. They never told me that or never told me that I would have to call and cancel this so that I wouldn't be charged.

    I have never used this service to watch any sports and now I am out for the last 6 years $41.99 a month for the last (The NFL Sunday ticket so 6 times 6) 36 months I have been paying for something that I have never asked for and didn't know that I had to be the one to have it removed. So I think this is pretty shady that they do this kind of things to people. If I would have know that I would have said I don't want the freebie at all. Thank you.     A few months ago, I had a dispute about my bill. They looked at it and said I should have a credit. The next two months, my bill said No Payment at This Time. I figured I had paid from my bank online or they were still giving me credit. One day, with no warning, tv was shut off. I called them and they said I had enrolled in auto-pay and paid, and told me I had called my bank and cancelled my payment. I immediately called them and told them I had never been enrolled in auto pay. They insisted I had and told me I could no longer pay without Western Union! They finally admitted I wasn't enrolled in auto pay, and they would send me boxes to turn in my equipment in a month. They said I could still pay any charges that I didn't know I had, but I would still have to pay with some weird form of payment. They admitted it was their mistake, but frankly they didn't care.     Opened DirecTV Bill today. Another Price increase. Third one in 17 months. The claim they sent out notices in the mail and email. None received only when you open your billing statement. Was on hold for 20 plus minutes. Prior to DirecTV being purchased by AT&T they would answer the telephone. Increase in price and decline in customer service! Hopefully the government will investigate and fine them for not notifying customers prior to price increase. Will need to cancel service when contract is up in September. At least with Comcast Xfinity, Time Warner, and the numerous cable providers they do not lock you into a contract. They increase the price and you leave. They then offer you a lower price to come back.

    Approximately 2 weeks ago, we had made an appointment for an installer to come out and install another box in our kitchen. This was scheduled for Monday 2-8-2016 between the hours of 8 am - 12 noon. The night before, I received an automated message asking me to confirm this appointment which I did. On Monday 2-8-2016 no one came out, so about 3:00 P.M., I began calling. I took the entire day off of work at a cost of about $250.00. I was advised that no one was coming out to install the box and that the appointment had been rescheduled for 2-23-2016, without my knowledge. I spoke with three (3) customer service reps who were all very rude. I was told that I would get a $50.00 install guarantee credit on my bill.

    The last lady I spoke with would not allow me to explain myself and was very rude. This customer service is unacceptable. I told the last lady that I would look into changing my service to DISH and she told me that they would sue me for the balance owed on the contract. More or less laughed in my face. I had to reschedule this install for 3-7-2016 because I am unavailable to be there again for an installer until this time. How do I even know someone will show up then.

    While upgrading our phones at our local AT&T store, we noticed the DIRECTV display. We asked a few questions and decided to give it a try. The crew came to our home on January 21 and determined that they were not able to get a good signal because of all the tall trees around our house, so we cancelled the service. My bank account had been charged a $124.45 deposit, which we were told would be refunded within a few days.

    The following week... no refund... so I called DIRECTV customer service. It was quite a challenge to get through the phone tree and get an actual human being on the line. When I finally did... I was told the cancellation/refund order was never processed, that it would be taken care of immediately, but that it could take up to 10 business days to show up in my account.

    Nine business days later, still no refund. This time, for whatever reason, it was even harder to get through to customer service. After being transferred around, stuck in phone-tree hell and being hung-up on, I finally reached a rep who, once again, informed me that the cancellation order had never been put through. According to her, it will now take up to five business days to get my refund. So DIRECTV gets a 30-day interest-free loan from me. (That's IF I ACTUALLY GET MY REFUND WITHIN FIVE BUSINESS DAYS, AS PROMISED!). Totally... and completely... UNACCEPTABLE!

    My appointment time was for between 12pm and 4pm. It is now 5:21pm. No service technician anywhere to be seen. I have called customer service 2 times. They have been courteous both times. And both times have said they will have the installer call me. No call at all. I do not know if they work in the dark and it will be dark soon. I took time off of work to have this done today because there will not be time for the rest of the month to do it. I am hungry and have other things I needed to do after he was supposed to be done. I don't even know how far away he is if he is on his way. Very disappointed.

    Can you help please resolve this issue? Oct. 2014, service was installed w/o a TV or Proof of Signal/Service arranged by Verizon. DIRECTVs CSRs will readily admit that the service should NOT have been installed without a TV in place!! Yet, I was charged by Verizon for monthly unused DIRECTV services and when canceling in Sept 2015 was charged a $400.00 cancellation fee against my account. Now owing $310.00. I did not/do not own a TV!! I am willing to accept my mistake of trust and move on with a total cancellation of both the $310.00 amount due and notifying CBE, their collection agency.

    When I took my situation to office of the DIRECTV's president, I was told, "You signed the Work Order" therefore the T's & C's of the agreement stand! (It was inferred that this is incredulous that you expect me to believe you did not/do own a TV, yet allowed the service to be installed! It does not concern us that Verizon made you a side deal that the service would remain dormant until you decide to install a TV). Details are available upon request.     I got new DirecTV service in October 2015. This is a 2-year contract so I should receive a discounted price for the first 12 months. My charge for each tv was $6.50 plus tax and should have stayed that price for at least 12 months. They have now upped my price to $7.00 plus tax per month. I called and they said they could not change it. I chatted online and they want me to get a cheaper package. I don't want a different package, I want the $68 they gave me when I signed up. I don't want the $72 charge they are now charging me.

    I enrolled with DIRECTV satellite service with Auto Bill Pay and paperless statements. After being a longtime customer, I notice my payments creeping up monthly. I call and question the increase and was told the increase was a rate hike from DIRECTV. After finally getting a paper copy of my bill, I discover that I am being charged for 8 TVs. Needless to say this is 5 more than I own and I call to question the mistake. Customer service is slow but friendly. I give all serial numbers to my equipment and they verify my equipment. I get an apology and am told I will not get a credit to my account because, "I should have caught their error sooner."

    At this point, I am livid and am waiting on someone with account authority to call me back since "that manager" is always in a meeting when I call. It is unfortunate because this company used to be pretty good, but ditch paperless statements and auto draft and scrutinize each bill if you are a customer of DIRECTV. I have never seen a company make an error, admit the error and then refuse to make it right. I only asked for the amount overcharged and not anything free or undue to me for using DIRECTV service. Unbelievable.

    I signed up for Directv in August 2015. I had to always unplug my receiver and plug back in to get it to work for a few hours. I finally called in December to have it fixed. Someone came out to replace equipment. I was told over the phone while scheduling the appointment there would be no charge for the repair. He immediately told me there would be an $800 charge to replace equipment. I had to speak with the techs office on his cell phone to explain I would not be paying for the new equipment. They verified I did have a warranty and agreed that there wouldn't be a charge. Equipment was replaced. My contract WAS RESET TO THAT DATE. Now I am under contract from December not August.

    About 45 days later I was charged $817.44 to my debit card they had on file to pay my monthly bill. I called to dispute the charge. After about an hour on the phone she agreed this was made in error and assured me I would be reimbursed within five business days. Five days went by with no reimbursement. I called several times and finally about three hours later a "supervisor" assured me I would have my money within seven business days.

    On the fifth day I did receive reimbursement for about $750 dollars. I then emailed corporate stating the facts and that I would like out of my contract. I received a phone call the next day. He denied any wrongdoing and that it's totally within reason that I was charged this amount and that all I had to do was call and I "got my money back didn't I". By the way my equipment still doesn't work. How do I get rid of these criminals and when I cancel what are the steps to disputing their charges for breaking the contract???
