I have a 2 year contract with DirecTV and my contract ends in April. I called to confirm my cancellation date because I want to go to a different company and I was informed that when I moved last year it added an additional 24 months to my contract! I was still in my 2 year contact but because I moved they added another year! I was appalled. How can they do this! I was not told this was the case when I completed the order. I pay my bill each month on time and the thanks I get is additional months added. I am so disgusted with this company. Due to the amount charged each month I had to lower my channels to almost nothing and I'm still paying too much. Shame on you DirecTV for taking advantage of honest hardworking people!

I highly recommend that you record all contact you have with DirecTV. I was told everything that was agreed to was being typed up and recorded and there would be no issues down the road. I have had nothing but issues and it wasn't just with that first customer representative, many different representatives have told me one thing and recorded something else. They will not hold up to the agreement made over the phone and will not allow me to cancel their service without charging me. I find this to be absolutely appalling!

Very good. But I wonder about something. Say you go into a home with young folks and maybe see a problem, like a not so well kept home and a bunch of foreign people living like 8-10 people. Would you ask for some identification before installing your service? I really don't mind security questions of any kind. My credit union does that if I withdraw money at a branch location. My guy didn't today but figured I was OK to do the install and all. When he knocked on the door I greeted him and told him my name and all went well. Just thinking out loud here not wanting folks to skin your company or anyone else for that matter.

We have DIRECTV (12 years) and decided to switch to DISH to get their new hopper and locked in 3 year price. BAD DECISION. The picture on DISH was much lower quality. Called the next day to complain. They said they'd send a tech on Monday, and the tech said there was nothing he could do, and he'd heard that complaint before. Disconnected and put DIRECTV dish back up. Amazingly better! Now only have to battle the $500 fee DISH is trying to charge me...

We were DIRECTV customers but when prices kept climbing we had to cancel the service. After some days DIRECTV sent the box to return their equipment. When we opened the box, there was a great pricing offer we were comfortable with, so we decided to call and get the service back. Today I called back and was told a completely different pricing with the "we don't know about that offer you are talking about". After some calls trying to cancel it again, they are trying to clarify the situation because "you are under a 24 month contract???". And of course there were no recorded conversations or no notes on my account of these pricing conversations. Attached is the offer we received.

Buyer beware!!! We decided to make a change to DirecTV because it would save us approx a hundred dollars a month. But unbeknownst to us at the time that you had a 24 hour cancellation policy. The issues were buffering of broadcasting and pixelation. The latter issue was minor compared to the first. DirecTV choose to partner with CenturyLink. The issue was the broadband pipe and trying to support the broadcast downloads when rewinding to the beginning of a show. In the two weeks we had the service and utilized this feature it had a buffering issue every time. I cancelled the service because I did not want to deal with this issue for the next two years and it cost me 460.00 dollars.

I had been a DirecTV customer in the past for around 12 years but switched to a local cable. 34 weeks ago I decided to switch back to DirecTV and take advantage of their offers. They scheduled an install date. Had my son take off of work, and no show. Called many times only to hear he was still coming. They apologized and rescheduled again. This time I received an email confirmation and a call. Again, no show. Rescheduled again, same as before and no show. This company has no regards for customer satisfaction whatsoever. So when I called and cancelled my order, they said "Ok and thank you for contacting DirecTV!"

Switched from U-verse to DirecTV to save a few bucks. Specifically told them I did not want the promo movie package for the first 3 months added because it's not something I would ever use. My family and I never used or watched any of the channels. Turns out we had them the whole time. After the first 3 months I started getting charged for it. Paid the first bill, didn't think much of it at the time. Had a lot going on. Today is when I noticed that I've been getting charged for this movie package for the last 2 months, $53. Although I never watched any of the channels and specifically told them I didn't want any of the channels when I signed up. They have that conversation recorded somewhere but can't access it for me.
They won't refund my money and now want me to pay $380 for an early cancellation fee. This is a joke. The company is garbage. They're basically stealing $500 from me because they screwed up. It's really not fair. Spent an hour and a half on the phone with them and they would not refund me the two months they charged me for service I never ordered or wanted.

The industry needs a better price structure. Things are fine for about 6 months, then the cost of these services starts to rise. In my case when it reaches approximately 3 times my electric power bill, I call and manage to negotiate some customer loyalty discounts and get my monthly bill under control. They force me to do this dance at 6 month to 1 year intervals. I have switched between broadband, satellite, and DSL services with several providers over the past 10 or so years. They all operate the same. I would be very attracted to a reasonably priced package for Telecom, ISP, Entertainment that has a stable price and provides a good price/value ratio.

We've been with Directv from 1997 and have no complaints with the service in terms of viewing. The reception is always clear whether local shows or international shows. However with the heavy snow and rain recently, we had a leak on our roof and when a roofer came to fix it was detected that it was coming from the Directv dishes that we have installed at the middle of our roof. We asked Directv to relocate since Feb 25, 1 technician came and unable to relocate because they were not aware that they had to bring 2 dishes. It was rescheduled and another technician came and same thing again... only 1 dish was brought. It is being rescheduled again, but technician did not showed up. Our roof being fixed is being delayed. Because of that, we are very upset and dissatisfied.

By the third call I was told a price that we would be comfortable with and I told rep I would decide and call back. I have tried my hardest to stay off social media with this and be cool about how I resolve it, but I'm at the end of my means of resolution via traditional online and phone support. I have a HUGE warning for anyone even considering DIRECTV. This has been the biggest NIGHTMARE of my life. The premise of DirecTV with AT&T Unlimited Data has been the most deceptive marketing just to push a bill of goods that doesn't deliver.
I signed up for DirecTV and AT&T together in order to get unlimited data. I switched from Verizon and bought out my phone and remaining balance just to make the switch. I spent 40+ hours on the phone talking to multiple departments between AT&T and DirecTV going over acceptable installation means based on where I lived. I told them on the phone that a tripod would be the only acceptable means of installation. The salesperson on the phone said "no problem." Lo and behold, turns out that's not an acceptable install practice and the ONLY method of install I had available (which, again, I disclosed on the phone at the time of sale). So the sale got cancelled, the DirecTV order was cancelled and has put my unlimited data in jeopardy.
I have been on the phone 20-30 different times for 40+ hours on this issue and it has been the absolute most frustrating experience I've had as far as becoming a customer and knowing what I know now, I would have never switched from Verizon. Nobody on the phone at either DirecTV or AT&T has any idea of what's going on with the unlimited data/TV combination (despite heavy advertising and marketing). If you're on Verizon, stay on them. It's not worth the frustration, time, money lost and time lost in order to make a switch that can't really happen.
To describe this marketing as "bait and switch" is putting it politely. This is the most deceptive advertising/marketing campaign I've ever seen, even making XFINITY look good at customer service (which I didn't think was even possible). Stay away from DirecTV and AT&T. This has been an even bigger letdown than the current presidential election. If you could combine the election with the maiden voyage of the Titanic and the Hindenburg disaster, that might capture a small fraction of the level of disappointment and frustration I have right now.

DirecTV is a total rip off! They wanted to charge me $238 to transfer service to my new apartment and $19.95 on top of that because according to their representative "I do not have enough credit history with them." And the charges are to pay "to gas the vehicle, pay the technician, for a new dish". I'm glad to be rid of such horrible expensive service. $50 for the cheapest package. Ridiculous. Thanks "Ryan" and "Nita" for the horrible customer service and lack of respect.

I have been a DIRECTV customer, first since 2003-2006, then again since 2008. In 2014 I changed to ATT Uverse from Time Warner to receive the $15 credit on my DIRECTV bill. Bundling DIRECTV and ATT internet/phone (before they were one company of course) I NEVER saw the $15 credit each month actually happen. I called multiple times, talked to multiple rude customer service reps, then have spoken to 2 managers. I kept getting the runaround, "Oh this wasn't set up", or "It takes 30 days. You will see it and if it's not there, call us back." I even sent emails hoping to have some resolution the other way around.
Here it is, 2016 and EACH time I receive my bill for DIRECTV, which I pay faithfully and on time every month, I cringe. Then it makes me think of how expensive DIRECTV is in comparison to the new customer deals they have out there constantly. I want someone to PLEASE look into this. I am frustrated beyond belief and now that the two companies have merged the service for DIRECTV and ATT Uverse seemed to have worsened. Please help. Thank you.

When shopping at Best Buy we were enticed into a new plan with DirecTV. We signed up for a great day plus a rewards card. When the technician came to set up the equipment he upgraded our equipment but put it in the system as a new account. Within a month I was receiving 2 bills for the same account. When I called to fix this it took almost 4 hours on the phone. The person helping me said she did me a favor by not charging me a cancellation fee. I asked who would set up 2 different accounts for the same residential address?
Secondly we were told we would receive a rewards card of $150 that never came. After spending nearly 8 hours on the phone to get it figured out I was told the best they could do was send me a $100 rewards card because they had nothing in the system that said I was eligible for the rewards program. I went to activate my rewards card and it expired a week ago... 120 days after issuing it. I called to get a new one issued and was told that is not an option. When I said I want to speak to someone about finding out the end date to my contact as I was not going to be renewing with AT&T and DirecTV I was told I would be placed into customer service for that. I was on hold for 5 minutes then told bye. I will never ever do business with AT&T or DirecTV again. I can honestly say I have never received a worse experience as a consumer.

The DTV service tells me I have to wait 12 days. 12 days, who in their right mind would wait 12 days? I was sent to the Retention Team and they took down all my information and said a local service team member would call me within the hour. 5.5 hours later, no call. I loved my DTV, but waiting 12 days for service call, isn't this some violation of FCC rules or something?

I was transferred at least 4 times and put on hold between transfers. I was on the phone for 1 hour and 30 minutes. That was most disrespectful to a customer. I was told by THE supervisor; "too bad, the refund is $5.00 for 5 YEARS" and if I do not renew, I lose my money! I have a 2-year contract. I have excellent credit and I am in my 70's so DirecTV is defrauding seniors with deceptive practices and contract.

Since our first conversation signing up with Directv they were greedy and shady. The sales person promised us one thing and after we signed up we were sent to the technical support team who explained that we actually should only get half our promised internet speed for that, and none of the channels that were promised us. Since every conversation with them is an hour or more, and we were on the end of a three hour conversation at that point, we had agreed to add 50$ dollars(!) a month to get what we thought that we were paying for initially.
Once everything was installed it worked kind of ok, except the picture freezes often (at least once in every movie/show that we record), and the GenieGO works on and off at its convenience. I clearly try to call Directv as little as possible as every conversation is so long and the customer service representatives are very incompetent, the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing.
When we moved we were required to pay moving fees (no other cable company does that) and I had a very incompetent technician at my home for 6 hours(!) trying to figure out where he should install the new dish, WHEN WE ALREADY HAD ONE ON OUR ROOF but he was too scared to go up there. It was a bad experience but at least when it was over we were able to watch our on and off freezing picture kind of peacefully until now a new straw broke our back: Our cinema connection kit, a little box the company connected to our main receiver for HD (which we pay for) and other extras (such as pandora, and oh, VOD), has stopped working and thus we can also not use other services which we pay for, such as Geniego.
I've reset everything and followed every troubleshooting guide I could find but to no avail. Sadly, I had to call the Direct customer service. I say sadly, because an hour later, after the technical support representative did exactly what I had done before and couldn't make it work, she said the thing I was dreading the most: "I have to send a technician, and it will COST you."
See, when Directv leases their sucky equipment, they want you to also sign for a paid support service, that will cost the customer even more money monthly, to pay for Directv's own equipment. Let me tell you, RCN does not do that. We of course said no, knowing that we take damn good care of our equipment and that if we'll need a technician it'll be their fault. And it just so happens, that they want to charge us 50$ for a technician call, for him to come in, replace their defective cable on their equipment, and till that happens I can't use my services for which I'm paying!
I would disconnect in a heartbeat, but they also have early termination fees, so you are kind of a prisoner forever with them. To sum it up: If I don't cough up money to pay for something that I am already paying for, I will not be able to use the services that I'm already paying for. I guess I'm damned if I do and I'm damned if I don't. If you give them enough time you will find Directv as a whole to be greedy, unprofessional, and unreasonable. As far as their tv services go - they're mediocre as they freeze often, the geniego stops working at will, and they do not support Netflix. Did I also mention that they are by far the most expensive and lock you into a no way out contract for 2 years? Thank god ours ends soon. Do yourself a favor, don't sign up with Directv. It can be very bad for your health. It's really bad for mine.

Since 2008 I have been a loyal customer of DIRECTV. I recently left the apartment complex I have lived in since 2009 because of a substantial rent increase. Finding a new apartment wasn't easy but I managed to find one the next city over. I tried to get DIRECTV but the apartment's owners are very much against any type of dish if it could be seen by neighbors. I had a tech out 2 different times to look at my situation. I really wanted to switch my service to my new place. After realizing it could not work, he told me not to worry about the early termination fee, that if it was beyond my control I would not be charged. No way. When I called to cancel my service I was told I would have to pay the early cancellation fee. I have paid everything due, but I will never go back to them. If I ever get satellite in the future, it will be through Dish T.V. Eight years of service didn't mean a thing.

I have been with DirecTV for 5 years and DirecTV does NOTHING to repay you for loyal service. Every January, February the prices go up. I got a bill for $158.00 for NO premium channels, next to the lowest package deal and a fee for extra sport channels. I was going to cancel DirecTV and they promised me a bill of 82.98 TOTAL WITH everything confirmed with an email. I called the next day to verify my email and my bill was 110.00 and that was for minimum only - then my bill will go back up. I will definitely switch companies or play the game of switching every year to get a decent price again. So much for loyalty and never missing or never being late with a payment. I recommend only going for 1 year with DirecTV and DON'T SIGN a contract!

Just switched from Cox to DirecTV and AT&T. DirecTV told me they could save me money and give me a better service, so like a fool I took the offer. And like a used car dealership con man they screwed me over. We spoke in depth the set up that I had and would need. Since I did not have working accessible phone jacks to make my set work, I was reassured that it would be just like what I had but better. So install day comes, I shut down my old services with Cox, and much to my surprise they only install the DirecTV. No internet, no phone. So I ask why they have not done this and I'm told AT&T does that part. Well salesman Jermy never told me that, never told me I would have to take two days off from work or have two separate installs. Now I'm without security from my security system, no phone no internet for four days.
After speaking with AT&T over the weekend to try and figure out when he will come out what I need to do, I'm told he will do it all. He will check and make sure all is working and install everything. I even re explain my worries of the phone jack situation since I found out it wouldn't be the same set as I was told it would be. Again no problem it will work the same but better...
So new install day arrives, again I must take off from work, he arrives, starts work and replaces the line from the box to my home, tests it and then tries to call it, comes up to my door and says "hey I have been calling is your phone not working?" I tell him "no it's not hooked up to the modem you have not hooked up yet". He says "I'm not here to hook up any modem just a phone line", so I explain to him all the old original jacks have been long since covered and have not worked in years. That I need the modem for my phone service. He told me "well we can run a new jack" but it will be close to 300 by the time it's all said and done, and I would have to set up another day for him to come out to do the service.
So now I'm still with no phone, no security, no internet and looking at losing more money and more time off from work which is more money. This will cost me more than 500 dollars in the end to switch from Cox to the new AT&T DirecTV con and I won't save much money in the long run. Do not fall for the lies the cons and bull they sell, stay with who you got cause these clowns really are a joke, liars, and hateful. When I called to complain I was just told "well you can cancel but you will get an early cancelation fee, two year sign up". They know how to rape customers.

I called customer service and have been on hold for 56+ min. and still no manager available. Apparently they only have one manager working at the moment. About 4 months ago I was getting calls several times per week trying to get me to order a "promo" package and the solicitation continued even after I asked them on multiple occasions to stop calling. The last time I was rude because that was about the 12th-15th call I had received and then I blocked their # on my cellphone. Today, I see my bill is much more than normal and when I called them they said about 4 months ago I signed up for the promo package; which I never did.
My viewing history would show that I never even watched those "promo" channels. After being on the phone with them for 1 hour and 42 minutes they agreed to stop the charges going forward, but refused to refund my previous charges. Clearly they have sales people that make money from this scam. Regardless if you want something or not, they will simply sign you up for it and "hope" you never notice the change or if you do possibly only after they have stolen some additional revenues from you. Not sure of my other options where I live, but I am canceling them immediately. Good luck to anyone that ignores this warning and orders DirecTV - thieves!

Instead, they want to charge me an additional $20 monthly to an already high-priced package in which I feel is inadequate for the limited channels I receive. I will warn anyone who falls slightly behind on their payment to expect their service to be promptly interrupted with a reconnect fee to follow. Once this occurs, your account is flagged which disqualifies you to order any specials, PPV or On Demand as well as your reoccurring monthly fee now rises and is no longer locked into your originally promised monthly rate. After complaining and speaking with supervisor I have asked if they are concerned with customer retention and clearly they ARE NOT! I will soon be returning to Comcast!

They told me that I would have to contact my previous bank and get the money from them. So I did. The previous bank informed me that they never received any money (reference number and amounts were provided to the bank) for confirmation purposes.
Called Directv back to inform them that the bank does not have the funds and they basically told me it is not their problem. Was so frustrated with this entire situation I canceled my service and I have been with them for 6+ years. They transferred me to the discontinuation department to have the CSR hang up on me. I was on hold for approx 50-min to 1 hr and the rep told me that there has been an increase in rate plan and that was why my bill was so high. He later came back saying it increased because there was changes to my auto draft each month, so I asked him which is true? Because he was giving me the runaround. I asked to speak to the supervisor which further ruined my experience with DirecTV. He said my auto draft discount was taken off and I was charged an additional $10 for that which I did not make any changes.
My bank hasn't changed for the past 15 yrs. Also stated that his rep was correct when saying DirecTV can increase their rates at any time without you being able to cancel your contract. So my plans was increased on two ends, 1. Directv decided to increase their rates which that was not what I was promised when signed up. 2. Increased my rate by saying I made changes to my auto draft. He only offered to refund me $20 for the previous two months and put the auto draft discount back on for me. Did not seem to care about anything else. I asked for them to bring up the recording of my conversations with their reps when signing up but he said he couldn't. What DirecTV doesn't tell you is that after they suck you in with their low monthly plans (and there is still added on charges with those plans), after 1 year the price almost doubles and if you don't like it you can drop your service for a $200.00 fee. What a ripoff!!! Then to make it worse after 1 week of dropping DirecTV, they send me an e-mail that they want me back with a special offer. I call the number, sit on hold, transferred 3 times and then none of their employees know nothing about the SPECIAL OFFER. I ask to be transferred to a manager but then somehow my call got dropped. Then in June jumped my rate to $84.99 per month. I called in Jan. 2016 to see If I could get a new promotional rate and they obliged for 6 months to drop it to $72.99. I then decided to go with Comcast as they had a better deal. I called Feb. 14th 2016 to cancel my service on Feb. 29th for disconnection.
On my last bill I was charged $104.75. When I called about it I was told that they bill one full month in advance and that the refund of $49.75 would be credited to me when my equipment was returned. So they over bill you for the last month then they will not issue the refund of over billing until you return the equipment. Yet they have on file your credit card number and can charge for the equipment that was not returned. Here is the moral of the story. Do not sign up for auto payment as it gives the company the right to charge what they want to your credit card unless you change your credit card at your bank and cancel the old one.
What is sad is that I have stock in the shady company. I will sell my stock off because of the fact that AT&T took over the company has NO Customer service skills and think they are invincible. Just like AOL did in the early 2000's and then were hit with a class action lawsuit because of overcharging customers that had cancelled service with them but they continued to charge them. I had to learn the hard way. If I were you and you were going with this company do not set up auto payment as they can charge what they want to your credit card as you have given them permission. It is not worth the $5.00 per month savings.

They never did. I am paying for it as part of my package. After trying to watch On Demand on my TV late last night it kept telling me "No Internet Connection". So I just called and they tried to tell me I need to pay another $99 for the equipment?
Here are the Bait and Switch situation. First off I ordered a HD box and remote. When the installer came he had no HD boxes so I was forced into getting a DVR HD Box which cost more money. They did a crappy install. He was suppose to put an outlet in my living room because the existing outlet is in a bad place. He never did and he left the faceplate off of the existing outlet, leaving open to a possibility of me or someone else getting electrocuted. When I ordered the service they made me pay a $232 deposit for the equipment which I did. All of the equipment and installation was included in this so why do I have to pay another $99 for equipment I already paid for that they never installed??? Another bait and switch scheme, I never ordered the protection plan and yet I just seen on the bill I will be charged for this service next month. The installer was Eastern Video.

The last issue I had was I disconnected to get a few new discounts to get me in the ballpark of new customers. Was told my bill was going to be $71 for 2 mo. and they owed me $21 from past overbilling. The 1st bill came at $56, so that's OK. Next bill was $86, I thought they were averaging, but NO! Now my bill is going from $86 (rem. it was suppose to be $71) to $98. Their excuse was all the discounts I was told were going to continue magically disappeared.
This billing LIES has been going on for over two years now and I've had it. I will disconnect on the 24th. Be warned, DTV will endlessly lie to you and then sneak a much bigger bill to you when you're not looking. I'm on LTD so I have the time to screw with this, but it ends now! I, on average, spend 3 hours/mo. having to discuss my billing with people who barely speak clearly from the Philippines. They say they appreciate my loyalty, but they trap you with bait-and-switch and always tell you "our rate just went up". They say you will be charged $49 for programming, but that ALWAYS INCREASES! It just went up in Jan. to $51! NEVER EVER go contract with these LIARS!

I was happy with the experience.

Hope things go as did in the past. Want to stay a loyal customer to both DirecTV and AT&T. Don't want to have to ever go back to Comcast or Dish!
