When calling in to order DirecTV for my home, I had the pleasure of speaking with a Middle Eastern gentleman that spoke very little English. He was very hard to understand. After being on the phone with him for well over an hour and being put on hold numerous times, I finally had my order processed. I was understanding that I was getting the genie with the DVR capabilities. Boy was I wrong. When the tech showed up for the install he gave us a plain receiver. Since I had to go out of state for work, I was unable to be there for the installation. So I had my wife there. She really didn't know what we were supposed to be getting.
3 weeks later I return home and figure it out. I called DirecTV. After being on the phone for nearly an hour and again being put on hold numerous times, I was told I would have to pay full price for the genie with DVR ($300). Or pay for a DVR kit ($100). And also pay for a tech to come out to the house. Umm... 2 years can't get here fast enough so I can switch back to Dish Network. Haven't been a customer for a month yet and I'm already sick of this company.

Awful experience with DirecTV. I will never use them again and would not recommend them to anyone. The only reason we went with DirecTV was due to our location and lack of providers in the area. I did not want an ugly satellite on my house but obviously I didn't have much of an option if I wanted additional TV service besides the basic local channels. They claim they have a loyalty program but screw you by forcing you into a 24 month agreement. I tried to move locations and still keep DirecTV. When I called to set up the movers program, I was informed there was a small service fee to suspend the account and they would be happy to set me up at my new house. The closing date was still pending on my new house and the agent suggested a 30 day suspension for my account.
With issues closing on the house, I was forced to do another extension. Again they suggested only a few weeks longer and said I could renew the suspension whenever but they preferred to get me on the calendar since the scheduling of installations only goes out 30 days. At this point, I received emails about charges to my account and late fees. After two hours on the phone I was informed that you can only do two suspensions and then the account automatically starts back up. Nothing was installed or hooked up but I was being charged for services and all I did was take the recommendations for shorter extensions from DirecTV. Once I closed on the house and called to schedule a installation date, they informed me that they would no longer cover the installation at my new house and I needed to pay $199 for set up. I found out the early cancellation of my account would be cheaper than the installation at my new location.
After trying to talk to a manager, I was denied and instructed that there was nothing they could do. I told them I would find another provider and would call back to cancel. Only when I was going through the process of cancellation did they offer to waive the additional fees they wanted to charge for installation. I found cheaper service, faster internet, and additional channels with a different provider. Plus we were provided a $300 gift card from our new provider which paid for my early cancellation. Bye DirecTV. Maybe try helping customer before they ask to cancel service.

I was moving before my 2 yrs was up and where I was moving to does not allow dishes on their property. I called Direct up and told them about the situation and they said they could suspend my service for 6 months which was perfect. The next month, I was billed for service I didn't even have. I called again, wouldn't refund my money. Told me they would suspend my service now. Next month, I get billed again for service I don't have and won't refund my money. I've had Direct twice in the past with good results but never again. Major thiefs!!!

I recently got services with Directv. This is my second day, I was told that their services were the best over Dish network. They didn't explain anything about the boxes, the technician have no knowledge about the product. I'm completely disappointed with customer's service, and the service overall. As soon as my contract is over I will switch and also let all my people about them.

On March 27th 2016 it DirecTV installer came out to my house to try to relocate the dish. We had just had a new roof put on the house and did not want the Satellite Dish relocated back onto the roof. We wanted it on a pole. That particular installer said that that could not be done due to the line of sight with the trees. So when I called DirecTV back and explain to them that I could not have a dish on the roof they set up an appointment for Monday the 29th of March for a second opinion. That appointment was scheduled between the hours of 12 and 4 on Monday. Approximately 9:45 in the morning I received an email stating that the technician was sent to arrive in 45 minutes.
45 minutes later I get an automated phone call saying that the technician was set to arrive between the hours of 10:20 a.m. and 10:50 a.m. I left work and rush home. No one showed up at 12 o'clock. I called and complained and I was informed by another supervisor that the technician was in route and "would be there shortly." At 4:30 still no technician. I called and spoke with yet another supervisor who told me that she would have her supervisor contact me within 30 minutes. At 6:30 p.m. still no phone call. I called and complained.
The following day on Tuesday a new technician shows up at my door at 8:20 a.m. As I walked out the door he told me he needed to come inside. I told him there was no need to come inside until I knew if you could put the dish on a pole or not. He said "I can put the dish on a pole and if you let me do my job and be quiet you could say that I don't care what another technician told you. Now let me do my job." whereupon I walked away. I went in the house and called yet another supervisor. That supervisor showed up at my house shortly thereafter and he dealt with me from that point on. If it wasn't going to cost me over $300 to cancel my contract I would have told them to come get their equipment right then and there.
Even though the last Supervisor was professional and address my problems and installed my satellite dish on a pole as previously requested on the 27th of March I will never renew my contract with DirecTV nor will I ever recommend DirecTV. I have never dealt with such miscommunication and rude customer service representative as I have in the last 3 days with DirecTV.

I've made several attempts to have my whole home dvr problem resolved. At least 10 people I've talked to and no fix. I'm paying for this feature and feature has not been provided for 3 months now. Feel like robbery at this point. They would rather I cancel my service than resolve. Have a 2 hour call followed by a 1 hr call and about four 30+ calls and nothing to show. From techs, supervisors and managers no fix. The person before last offered to have a tech come out but said she couldn't set it up but rather a tech support person would have to put that in.
Called tech support today from work and apparently I started all over. Said I would have to go through troubleshooting again or that there would be a fee to have a technician out to my house. Would not recommend and I've been a customer since 2010 and a few years before that when at a apartment. Not sure if the merger with AT&T is the change in service but had better customer service before.

For months I've had a problem with them overcharging my account by $20. I've called and complained several times. They raised my price by $20 when I was under contract for the lesser amount. I called and complained again. This time they gave me discounts of roughly $20 good for 18 months. Yet when I got the new bill (twice) it was still at the raised rate. The person I talked to on the phone insisted it was a one-time only discount. When she finally looked into it she said I was right it was for 18 months. I have had it with these people. The next time they overcharge my bill will be the last time. I will get another company and never have anything to do with them again. I would NOT recommend anyone going with them for anything. If I could leave less than a one star rating I would do so.

Called 1-800-288-2020. Ask U-verse tech if we could get U-verse and he said no. We told him I had U-verse internet. He hung up. I called AT&T mobile. Ask customer service about it and she check and said I did have U-verse and we set it up. The Directv installer talk to the tech and the customer service lady and the TECH should be fired bad deal. Please call me if you have any questions at **.

No service anytime there is a severe thunderstorm. I reported this problem a least 4 time during the 11 months I had Directv. On a least 5 other occasions I didn't bother because there is nothing they can do about it. When I signed my 2 year contract I was told that this was not a problem, a lie. When I cancelled I was told that there is an early cancellation fee of $20 a month for each month remaining on the contract even though they didn't deliver the service that I expected. I paid because it was so frustrating losing the picture during a program and not being able to record a complete program. If you like this frustration go for it. If not, try cable if you have that option.

I just now signed up for this service. So far... it is went okay. The initial sales person was a little hard to understand but pleasant and had a lovely voice. I did not realize I was not signing up for wireless... so the initial tech rescheduled for me after he came out and realized I wanted wireless on two tvs. The second tech informed me that my address was incorrect on my account. I really appreciated that. He was efficient and pleasant and just obviously really great at his job.
I called the service while he was here and had them correct my address on my account. The young lady I spoke to was quick, efficient, and pleasant. I think that my address is now correct. Only other thing so far is I wish that a channel guide card or a few depending on the number of tvs you are connecting could be given. I know I can look it up online... but for me... a card or pamphlet would have been better.

I was super excited to get DIRECTV in our new condo, so I ordered right away. Unfortunately a few day after ordering, there was an issue with the HOA and I had to cancel. The rep was very friendly, helpful, and canceled the setup and service right away. I can't wait to move somewhere where I can have DIRECTV service!

Called to cancel my AT&T/ DIRECTV service and was told if I broke my contract I would have to pay 20$ a month. I had 7 months left on my 2-year contract and asked to speak to a manager and the service rep Gabriel out of Tennessee, ID **. Service rep refused to let us speak to a manager. Thought I was talking to Comcast for a moment. We ended up calling back and just got the runaround. Super disappointed and like with all previous AT&T services I will never use them again and not refer them.

If you ever get a real, live, human being on the phone - in less than a 1/2 hour - you are incredibly lucky. We had reception as usual. Turned off the TV, went to bed. Next day, no TV signal. They kept my wife on the phone for an hour and a half, telling her different things to try. The guy kept coughing and sneezing into her ear. Finally got it going again. She asked why they didn't send out a tech. He said he had to go through the entire checklist before he could send someone. Excuse me? My wife on the phone for 1 1/2 hours? It is not our fault that the TV stopped working? We have to suffer? They won't send someone to fix it? As soon as our contract expires, we will make a change. This is outrageous!
Updated 6/2/2016: Twice we have had problems. Once it was their fault that we no longer had a connection. Their rep kept my wife on the phone for over an hour and refused to send someone out to fix it. Finally got it resolved. When we upgraded to Genie none of their Genie remotes would work. Customer Service told us we had to use the old ones. Yesterday we got a new TV and the DirecTV remote would not work (though 2 months ago we got a new TV for another room and no problem). Again my wife was kept on the phone for over an hour and they refused to send someone out, even though we said we would pay. Finally my wife gave up and ended the call. Our neighbor came over and had the Genie remote working in 5 minutes--yes, the Genie. And they had told us we had to use the old remotes.

The remote makes me very mad. When you are watching a program and you accidentally touch the remote the wrong way it changes the channel and if you rewind something to watch it cause you forgot to pause it and the channel changes. I hate the remote. It needs to be changed.

My experience with DirecTV is very limited as today is the first day. Both the person I spoke with and the person who installed my system today were very courteous, professional and met all my needs. DirecTV offers free packages then charges for it. When I call them, they say I approved it. I am a senior citizen and feel it is sad that a supposedly good company like DirecTV is taking advantage of old people by using bad tactics. This has happened to me twice. I get a call from a very fast talking DirecTV agent, who does not explain their offer. Next thing I know I am being charged for an extra service.

I have not been a customer for over a year. They went into my bank account and stole $350 dollars. I did not authorize. I do not live in the same state anymore and I have proof. They still stole our money my husband works hard for. I will tell everyone that will listen about how bad Directv is. Not one of them was nice to us at all. About time someone listened to us customers and did something about this horrible company!! I even called the CEO and they would not let me talk to him. I will report them to everyone I can find. Complaint they are charging me for someone else bill because I stay at an address someone owed a bill before I move there. That sounds like forgery to me. If it's not in my name I do not pay it. They're making me pay somebody else's bill. Cut my cable on 1 day of same day!

I've used AT&T for mobile service for over 7 years and the customer service was always great and they were always able to help me when I was not satisfied by providing a better rate or service. After my horrible experience with xfinity's service and customer (don't) care I had to make the switch. The sales rep at AT&T and DIRECTV was extremely emphatic and she was helpful in finding me a much better deal and service!

When signing up, there was a questionable issue as to pricing in some areas. When the agent reviewed my order, I questioned the difference and he understood the error. He was able to give me credit on first year's service which resolved the problem!

I have paid for premium support. Called earlier this week as a second wireless genie box went out now forcing me to deal with the shoddy equipment. Explained the problem with the very good tech support person on the phone and we agreed it was a wireless issue. Tech shows up onsite with ZERO wireless devices. First day of missed work down the drain (thousands in personal business loss) and he unplugged my home office Cisco router connected to a commercial internet MPLS pipe!
Moving on to day two - while sitting at my desk in my office I get a call from DirecTV that a Sr. Tech will arrive to fix my problem between 12pm - 4pm so I take another day off of work and close my office as my wife needs tv! It is now 4:15pm and no DirecTV tech arrives. I call DirecTV, they apologize and say a tech will be arriving onsite within the hour. Happy to hear this news I cancel my dinner plans and wait some more! It is now 5:25pm, I get a call that the depot supervisor decided it was not critical to send a tech out today and I would need to take another day off tomorrow to wait for a tech again between the hours of 12pm and 4pm! It was at this point that I called DirecTV to cancel my service. I paid the $360 pretermination (extortion) fee and I am glad to be going back to cable!
Be warned. This company employs deceptive business practices and trumped up fraudulent "offers" to entice clients. I believe it is easy to offer a premium service contract which entitles me to free onsite visits if the technicians decide to just not show up! That is certainly illegal and deceptive! My advice - stay far away from this company. Only use it as a last resort! Cable is not great but at least the technicians show up with equipment in their van to remedy problems! This whole debacle cost me ~$20k in business loss! One day all services will be available via Internet and we will have true content competition. Only then will these monopolistic agencies be put in their place! Don't "settle" for the fraudulent business practices of DirecTV. Go back with cable or if you're lucky fiber you will be much better off!

The hardest part has been getting permission from my board of directors to install the dish on the rooftop of my townhouse and coordinating with CenturyLink. One office rep I talked with at CenturyLink wasn't good in dealing with would-be customers. Hopefully my next experience with them will be better.

I am dissatisfied with the wiring that the rep installed. It is hidden under the house in most areas. I pointed this out to him and he corrected one area but neglected the other area right next to it. The wires should be set under the house like the other ones and not exposed. It's very ugly and I would like to have that corrected. Thank you and let me know. Perhaps the next time someone is in the area they can correct it.

Both the representative and the supervisor who took care of me were absolutely 100 percent committed to fixing my issue. AT&T messed up my order, but DIRECTV made it all better and were absolutely the pinnacle of customer service. I am glad that we decided to come back to DIRECTV.

DIRECTV is the most unprofessional, uncaring company I have done business with. I previously had service thru them for several years. When I moved a couple years ago I decided to suspend my service. After thinking about it I decided that since I was no longer under contract I would cancel the service due to my limited amount of time to actually use the service. I recently attempted to re-establish service with them and was notified that I owe for "services provided" back during the time after my move. I have contacted customer service and tried to resolve the issue. They refuse to waive these fees stating they have no record of my call to cancel. Even though I have explained that I never had equipment set up at my new residence, and therefore clearly never received service. They maintain that the fees are valid.
I told them they could waive the fees and I would continue to be a customer or if not I would not restore service with them. They refuse. They do not care about you as a customer. When I asked "so what you are saying is you don't want my business?" The customer service rep said "yes". I implore you to look at the reviews DIRECTV doesn't pay for. I give you a hint, they are NOT 5 star.

These ads about the "settlers" are seriously offensive. One they mock the people who built this country on their backs. Two they imply the this generation of working class people are not as good as people who have their service. It is not funny and is insulting and if anything all it did is make a non-customer even less likely to ever use their services. I find this ad in such poor taste. I will forever have a tainted view of DirecTV. I remember telling my husband back in 1998 that these cable companies were going to price themselves out of the market with their inflated costs and contracts that basically make you sign away your right to fair prices ever again. I am not going to sacrifice buying food to pay for something that lessens my children's IQ by using it. Most people can't afford cable and their commercials are so offensive. This commercial was social suicide for DirecTV in my opinion.

I ordered DirecTV for three rooms in my house. The sales person lied and sent one receiver and they tried to tack on $30 for the other rooms when they got there!! It's a scam, don't order DirecTV. All they do is jack up your rates and give you horrible customer service!!!

I have had a great experience with person who signed me up with DirecTV. When I had an issue with my installment date, it was resolved on my first call. When I received an email about AT&T discontinuing my service before DirecTV would be installed, it was resolved. I made the error of selecting the wrong date for installment, not the gentleman who signed me up. The questions I had were resolved on the first call. You can't ask anything more than great service.

I signed up for DirecTV when I was looking for a low cost service. I was told this service was 19.99 a month for a 2 year contract. Shame on me for not asking more questions. Turns out that was just for using DirecTV, didn't include the service being connected and being able to use it. That was not the accurate package cost and that was not explained to me. You are charged separately for equipment and receiver services. Didn't include DVR either and when I paid more to add that, wasn't told it changed my contract time. Then told if I didn't get the Protection Plan, if something happened to the receiver, I would be charged up to 65 to fix, so I had to get that too.
Now I am in the process of re-roofing and am told to move my receiver so the roofing can be completed. They are going to charge me 49.00. The insurance doesn't cover that. I have to wait till service is interrupted. And had the nerve to tell me "thank you for being a loyal customer". How about being a loyal business? I am so glad my contract is finally almost over. I will never use this service again, just on principle of honesty, customer loyalty and disclosure of actual costs. Buyer beware, unfortunately.

I was a DirecTV customer before so I know I would be treated fairly. The service provider I had before (VYVE) did not live up to the consistent quality mindedness of DirecTV. I do not remember a time in my whole experience with DirecTV of being as merely a "number". I have ALWAYS been met with friendly and knowledgeable agents. Where do you find these people? I have been with DirecTV for 2 years and besides the discounts the bill is never the same. As a matter of fact, it goes up all the time. When I call in, they say "it's programming increases". How can a company need to increase programming costs so frequently. The only reason I even have Directv is I use my motor home for work. So I cancelled my cable at my home and put the ugly dish on my roof to save money on having both cable and Directv. But, I was paying less for cable, 60 meg internet and phone than I am just Directv, with no weather interference. And if you try to make changes to your account, they tack on another year. Reading through the reviews, I can say, those 5 star reviews are new or haven't been with them long.

Remote stopped working after unplugging Genie and re-plugging into different outlet. Tech support advised RF wireless was disabled and instructed on how to reset and enable RF wireless. Problem solved in a short amount of time, very helpful.

After 2 failed attempts to find a workable location to site the DirecTV dish the on-site installers closed out the job as not possible (no clear line of sight to the Satellites). I subsequently found a non-obvious location we all previously overlooked which I believe will provide the required clear site line to the Satellites. I want to have the installers make one final on-site evaluation of the new location. Getting this initial install job reopened and the job rescheduled took 5 calls and a number of forwards on some calls, consuming over an hour just to get to the person who could help. Once I finally got to the right person it went fine and quickly.

I can describe my experience in two words. Horrible and unprofessional. I called to talk about options on lowering my bill and I was hung up on twice. I have the ID# for the first person to hang up on me. I did not get the second ID#. My third phone call with ID# ** refused to give me the previous ID# to further assist me in this complaint. The representative was very rude even already knowing my situation and frustration. I asked for a supervisor and finally I was helped by a respectful and professional employee of DirecTV's named Sue ID# **. I will say that I will not be re contracting with DirecTV. This is only one of many bad experiences with DirecTV. There are too many other competitors that would love to have a paying customer.

When I signed up with DirecTV, my monthly bill was supposed to be $39.99 monthly. Five months in, they started billing me over $120.00 per month. After countless hours with condescending customer service reps and their inept managers on the telephone, I canceled my service. When I did do, I was told I'd have to pay about $240 in early termination fees. The manager claimed I signed a contract. When I told her I didn't, she claimed it was a verbal contract. I asked to hear a recording of said contract. She said she couldn't do that. I refuse to pay this fee. And have filed reports against DirecTV with the BBB, FCC and the Attorney General's office. DirecTV is a predatory company and should not be allowed to treat people in such an unfair, dishonest manner.

HORRIBLE SERVICE. I had a problem with my box for 7 months, constantly called DirecTV so they can send a technician and in 4 different times they NEVER SHOWED up. They made me miss work twice because I really wanted to get my cable fix and they never showed up. I never received an apology either and until NOW I'm still having trouble with my box. When we want to record something it never records all the way because the signal is completely bad. So unsatisfied with this service. Do not recommend it to anybody.

Hate this company!!! They charge you all the time for nothing! Nobody can answer on your questions! You have only 1 phone number, and if you have problem, they will transfer your call like ping-pong ball and nobody wants to help! Don't do your business with them!!! Even if you close your account, change your bank accounts, they still have charge you! I don`t know how they do it, but I have charge on more than $400 on my card! For nothing! I was told if I didn't accept now they would have to run an additional credit check tomorrow if I want to wait till then to finalize my decision which is a crock of **. If you want a customer you give the time to make a decision don't pressure me. I have great credit and don't want to screw it up because you want to pressure me into an agreement. I can continue to pay more for the service I have rather than be pressured into making a decision right now.
