Charging over a hundred dollars a month; equipment continues to malfunction and they don't care. Won't fix it without another contract.... oh, please!!! This should be illegal to charge for services you don't get... no one at DirecTV cares; tv has gone black 4 times in 2 weeks... reset the receiver like they said and still had to miss 25 min of tv program...

I believe Directv has the best amount of channels for the price. I just wish you didn't have to sign up for a 2 year contract.

We arranged for service and installation through CenturyLink. They told us that since we are building a new house we could have the antenna installed first while the attic was being finished and have the rest of the equipment set up about 3 weeks later when the interior walls are complete. This could not be accomplished through your subcontractor and we needed to pay a separate contractor to mount the dish.

DIRECTV has great customer service. They were very friendly and efficient. They do not talk to you like they are reading a script. That being said; it made it very easy to order their services and become a satisfied, first-time customer. Definitely would recommend their services!

Over all happy except for the fact that the tech did not show up on the day expected NOR did they bother to call me. I had to call customer service myself and inquire as to why they had not shown up, this after waiting at home ALL day for what turned out to be for nothing.

I responded to a flyer in the mail in August 2015 regarding a promotional price of $34.99/month service plan. At the end of my conversation with the representative by the name Jeannette, my total monthly bill including all applicable taxes was $88.99 for a 2 yr contract. Over a period of a year, my bill went up by $15, then I got a bill for the month of August 2016 totaling $129. I called customer service twice the next day and after a lengthy discussion with 2 diff associates and a supervisor, I was told the promotional price I signed up for was for 1 yr with a two year commitment agreement! I explained unsuccessfully that the flyer I responded to only showed a commitment of 2 yrs and that the rep (Jeannette) never said anything about a 1 yr promotional price. The supervisor proceeded to tell me that an email was sent to me after I had signed up for their service.
The generic email I got a week after I had signed up did not say anything about price increase after a year! She basically told me there's nothing that she can do because I signed a contract! I was trying to cut down on my expenses by switching from TWC to DirecTV cutting off phone and internet service, which was $128 with TWC for what I thought was a $88/month with DirecTV. Now I have to pay $129 a month for just cable service. I will encourage anybody who had been ripped off by this scam via their generic email to contact a lawyer so we can file a class action lawsuit against DirecTV. This has got to stop. Companies like this are targeting poor middle class hard working citizen and we need to stop them. We also need to write to our state representatives and report this unscrupulous business scams!!!

I had a great experience with DirecTV in the first year of my contract during the promotional period. They were always so helpful and accommodating. Once the bill double in the second year and I learned I was locked into the contract for another year or I'd have to pay hundreds of dollars to get out they stopped being so helpful. I asked for ways to lower my bill and if they had any packages and they just cut me down to very minimal channels. I had my credit card number stolen and my bank closed the card. DirecTV continued to bill that credit card and charged me fees since it didn't go through. I called and explain the situation and they said "There is nothing we can do for you." I have been with them for almost 2 years and never had a late payment and they still would not waive the fee. I don't know if the merge with AT&T is the problem but they have been really terrible.

So where do I start. I was a DirecTV consumer for years. I never had an issue until now. I recently moved and discontinued my service at the present location. I found a place which took me approximately three months to find. However I called DirecTV to restart service and was told a company named City One Entertainment is the DirecTV service provider in my area. I called City One Entertainment only to be told that I would have to shell out about $500 to even start my service. This is ridiculous, I could see if I had bad credit, or if I owed a previous balance. Actually I pride myself on always paying my bills. This is just bad service from City One Entertainment and bad service from DirecTV for allowing great consumers to be treated this way!!! NO CABLE FOR. THANKS FOR NOTHING!!!

This business is a scam. First, they tell you everything you want to hear, free installation, etc. Then when I got my bill, they charged me for installation saying there are no notes on the account. It took me six months to get it straightened out! Recently I bought a new tv and the remote wasn't working with the new tv. They walked me through the process but it didn't work. Then they said I had a defective remote and they would have to charge me. I told them I wasn't going to pay for their defective product. They said they wouldn't charge me this time and gave me an order#.
Then I received my bill and surprise, I was charged for the remote. I called them and gave them the order# and they said that was just for the remote, and there were no notes about no charge. This seems to be a scam of their about "no notes on the account" which there is nothing a customer can do. These guys are shady and I will not be using them any longer once my contract runs out. Beware - scammers!!!

Since I moved to new city, I called DirecTV and told about the movement and the restrictions of dish at the new property. They immediately told that there is no other option than cancelling my service which will not incur any early cancellation fees because of the dish restrictions. I did as they suggested and after 20 days they sent me a bill with the early termination fees in it. Now when I call them, they are washing their hands and saying that I should pay that and they are not responsible for whatever their representatives told me when I called for the first time. This is just insane and worst business practice. Never ever go with this company for TV services. I was cheated big way.

I have been a customer for the last 4 years or so. Recently I had issues with signal reception. I haven't had TV signal for the last 1.5 week. As such, I made appointment for a technician to come. The appointment was between 9/7 Wed between 4.00-6.00 PM. The guy never showed up. When I called the DirecTV personnel told "they went to the wrong house". Another appointment was made for Thur 12.00-4.00 PM. After waiting for home until 6.00 PM, I called the DirecTV, their response, "sorry we have to cancel your appointment", that's without informing me about. Finally, today Mon, 12 Sept 2016, appointment was from 12-00 to 4.00 PM. You guessed it. The guy never showed up. When I called, they said he's on his way, that is at 3.30 PM. Now it's 12.30 AM on Tue 13 Sept 2016. They still don't have the courtesy to call and say what happened. Finally, I decided to cut the cord. I never experienced a bad service from anyone like this.

During the 2 years that I've had DirecTV I have had nothing but problems with the billing. My bill fluctuates monthly, sometimes more than $100. DirecTV does not SIMPLY giving you a monthly rate, they apply all kinds of rebates to get to the price they state that expire thus causing the bill to go up. It is then up to the consumer to call and get the rate adjusted. I very rarely have 2 bills that are alike (not counting VOD charges). I will fairly say that most representatives I talk to seem to genuinely attempt to help, but then there are those that say things such as, "well, if you look at the contract it says we can raise the rate whenever we want." Not good customer service.
I've been promised things that didn't go through, told they would call me back to confirm offers and told things such as, "Well, just pay whatever the bill says and we'll try and work it out." Not one time has a representative upheld what the previous representative promise in its entirety. Each phone call takes about an hour of my time and I'm over it!! I'm VERY displeased with DirecTV and will be taking my business to a competitor.

I've had DirecTV for several years and when I moved they wanted me to do a new contract. I refused and told them just cancel my service. They waived the contract so I wouldn't cancel. The install spent 5 hours at my house before I was informed my equipment which worked at the last house didn't work now so it had to be replaced. He replaced it with the only equipment he had and then I was informed a month later that put me in a new contract even though I refused to sign a new contract when I called to move. I didn't request anything new and should not have been put in a new contract. Because I was lied to and tricked I canceled my service. They then used a credit card they had access to from 6 months prior to send a cancellation payment even though I never authorized them to.

Ordering and arranging for installation was easy. Only one snag, a mistake was made regarding the address where the installation should have been done. This was corrected, and no harm was done, just a slight delay in the installation date. The reason I gave five stars is that the representatives who were involved work in trying to resolve the issue.

I was stupid and signed up with Directv through a door to door rep. I had Comcast which I thought was overpriced and DIRECTV caught me at a vulnerable point, promising a $250 Visa gift card (never rec'd) low cost if I signed up for the Bundle. Their added fees aren't mentioned. I was given the wrong selection package so paid more for their error. They add credits for stuff that was built in making it look like you are getting a deal. Fees are hidden. Bills are not consistent. Added a sports pkg that I said I didn't want. Reps promise bill adjustments that don't happen and if they do, another charge is added. CenturyLink sends out the billing... but I believe there is a strong lack of communication between CL and Direct. A service rep came out last month and spent 4 1/2 hours trying to figure of the problem. I offered him lunch. Supervisor joined him for a bit. Neither could find the problem.
Finally the service guy found a faulty cable. My billing date is the 22. I don't receive the bill for 10-12 days. And it's due the 11th. Giving me 1 week to send in my check. Funny how they receive my check in less than a week but it takes 10 days to receive my bill. Then the payment has to clear them by the 16. So do the math. Billing dates are not consumer friendly nor are the inconsistent charges. Save yourself frustration and don't sign with them. The only positive I can say is that I don't electronically pay, which has a time delay, but they can't automatically withdraw for their bill fraud, either. I'd like to join a class action suit if there is one available. Hate is a strong word.

The Ordering of services process was easy, and was fully established in remarkable time! Because of the kindness, and hospitality shown by the service reps, I honestly felt like they were really looking out for my best interests as a new customer. This year DirecTV decided to make the Red Zone channel only accessible with HD receivers. Of course, they didn't communicate that to their customer base. Instead they were already billing me for an upgraded package that I couldn't take advantage of unless I replaced some of my equipment as well as paying more each month for the new equipment. Since they have your ** in a vice, I agreed to the upgrade and asked for some type of credit to my account since I already missed a week of football due to their poor communication.
The response I got was that wasn't possible since the first week was free. Too bad no one told the billing dept. because it's been on my bill for the past two cycles. I've been with DirecTV for approximately 15 years and I don't know if it's because they are now connected to AT&T, but their customer service has hit rock bottom and they have me looking seriously at switching to Comcast. IF THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT CUSTOMER LOYALTY WHY SHOULD I?

Overall experience with DIRECTV excellent and very positive. However, the pricing of DIRECTV is another matter. Please understand I do realize a company has to make a profit. However, the total profit does not need to be made from every customer. $100 dollars for wireless in addition to the other fees etc. This is not right and there should not be a 100 dollar fee for wireless. Program packages. Choice is very limited unless you enjoy sales channels, sports channels etc. Thank you for your time.

DirectTV never commits to a price on paper/email before you start the service. The confirmation letter you get does not have clear service/plan fees. They send you a generic confirmation letter and the only thing specific about it is the penalty I will have to pay if I discontinue the service. They know you are not recording the calls so you have no proof of what they promise you on the phone.

I am a loyal AT&T customer with U-verse. I was shopping at Walmart and confronted by a DIRECTV salesman who promised to save money on my TV if I would sign up. After one hour he set me up for installation. The next day someone from DIRECTV called and said I would have to pay my brother's past due account before they could install. I was very unhappy and told them to cancel the order. I then received a letter from DIRECTV say I was turned down because of my credit score from Equifax which is 798 (excellent). I hope AT&T does not pick up on the crooked billing practice of DIRECTV.

"Courtney" in contracts (#**) was very arrogant and did not help us at all. Blamed all service problems on us when DirecTV service is really garbage. I called customer service several times trying to remedy the problem and finally they gave the job to another technician and he didn't get there till 2:30 pm. My second problem was with customer service. And the only real problem I had is the fact that every time I called I would explain the problem and the representative would tell me they were going to put me on hold to try and fix it but they would either hang up on me or transfer me to someone else and then I would have to go through the whole process over again. On 9/8/2016 I contacted DirecTV in order to price and obtain satellite TV for both my primary home and a new secondary home. After obtaining a quote for my primary home I was told that I would need to set up an account with this department prior to being able to get a quote for my second home. I told the representative that this did not make good business sense and I told him I was not comfortable with this practice as I would be entering a contract without knowing the full extent of my final contract. I was placed on hold while reportedly the representative discussed options with the second home department.
Once he came back on the phone, he stated a deal (which was repeated twice by him and once by me). I accepted. An account was set up which included giving him all of my personal information including addresses, cell phone, SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER AND CREDIT CARD NUMBER. He then transferred me to the second home department and that representative told me that absolutely the deal discussed was not possible. I spoke with a supervisor and he also explained that it was incorrect information.
I asked to speak with a supervisor with the first department again in order to cancel the account Fortunately I was able to cancel the contract however the total time spent was 1:17. The account number issued was **. DirecTV's segmented departments promotes the sharing of personal information along with ability to bait and switch contracts. This practice should not be allowed!

We visited the AT&T store and they were really pushing DirecTV back in May 2016 with a promotional offer. We had U-verse and switched to DirecTV and it installed on 5/17/16. In speaking to the Salesman at the AT&T store, we told them the only way we would change is if there was a sizeable reduction in our monthly cost, if only for the 2-year program they were offering at the time. We were quoted a price and found we would be saving so we switched. We returned our U-verse equipment on 5/18/16 and for the monthly bills of June and July we were charged $300 claiming they had not received the equipment. After calling in June, they assured us they did receive and it would be removed from our bill. HOWEVER, it was on the bill again in July. Finally in August, the charge is gone.
We had heard that the Satellite signal might go out during storms but was assured by the Salesman this rarely happens. That is not true. We have had numerous storms in the past few months and every time our service has been interrupted. After calling Customer Service numerous times and finding out how to reset, we are now at the point we reset without calling because it happens so frequently. And for some reason, our WIFI disconnects also and again, we now reset ourselves. We also find that the service freezes even if there are no storms in the area. We can be watching recordings and this happens. Over the Labor Day weekend this happened 3 times and there was no bad weather! VERY FRUSTRATING!! Not happy at all, very sorry we switched.
Visited the AT&T store yesterday to discuss the bill and was told we would save $80 if we didn't have the Premium channels. However, that is not what we were told at the time we agreed to switch. Otherwise, why would we switch if we were not going to have the same services? When we call Customer Service or visit the AT&T store they are friendly but no one seems to want to address the problem of why our service continues to go out. Our cell phones have been with AT&T for almost 20 years but I think it's time to investigate other options. We are also considering canceling the 2-year contract and pay the penalty charges. Again, we should have continued with U-Verse, even though once in a while had issues but not like we are having now. I assume it's because all the cables and wires are underground. I don't understand why AT&T would have such an inferior product.

I made him to put that on writing, and so he did. 2 month later, I started receive 2 bills. One from AT&T for $79.00 and another from DirecTV for $80. For 3 month I been calling and sending proof, but no solution. I had no choice to have AT&T service in the first place because that was the only service available in my area. I have been a DirecTV customer for 1 year now...my account IS current (don't owe them a dime). 200 channels and 150 of them are infomercials. You can buy a vacuum on 9 of them, make your ** bigger on 16 of them...you can watch everything, but TV. If it even looks like rain, forget watching any broadcast TV. "NO-SIGNAL" but the infomercials NEVER go off the air. TRY complaining, the website does not recognize the only e-mail you've ever had...instant chat, cuts you off, as soon as you try and complain, no Direct TV e-mail to send a complaint to, write a letter - they will ignore it.
Call them, spend an hour on hold to get a person on the other side of the world who puts you on hold for another 20-40 minutes and transfers your call to someone who tells you that you are mistaken, "I've never heard that complaint before", "please call back later". Service sucks, customer service sucks, and their website sucks. If you can get TV service ANYWHERE else...avoid DirecTV like poison. But they never miss a beat when it is time to suck money out of your bank account.

I ordered DirecTV in Oct 2014 because the promo they had at the time was awesome. Two year contract. I got the entertainment package for 50 dollars and after a year it will go up 10 dollars. Ok fine. No problem. So after a year of great service they ended up partnering up with AT&T. Ok fine whatever. But also they started charging me $40 more for my service. WTF. What happened to the 20 extra dollars per month. Called them and they gave me a bunch of bull about this fee and that fee etc etc etc. I decided to stick with them and honor my contract despite paying $40 extra.
March 2016 I moved to a different place and had my service moved over. Somehow DirecTV cancelled my service altogether. Had to call and after hrs on the phone my service was reconnected plus some discounts for the inconvenience. Today I call to see when exactly is my two year contract up because they charge too much plus I have a firestick and I don't need the service anymore. Come to find out my device won't end until March 2017 because the discounts they gave me extended my contract. Yet they failed to say that in any part of the two hr phone call because if they did I would've said no thank you. So they extended it without my knowledge.
By now I'm pissed because I just want to be done with DirecTV. I just told her to cancel my service period. And apparently they are going to waive the cancellation fees. But I have a feeling it's going to be an issue with that going by past experiences. Oh and they offered me 35.99 a month to stay on as a customer but I still rejected it. I would recommend going somewhere else. They will put extra charges on your bill out of nowhere. Or better yet get a jailbroken firestick. You can watch whatever whenever for free.

I called them and they removed the receiver off of my account. I asked them about the overcharges, and wanted credit on my account. They said, "We do not credit accounts." But how about free HBO for three months? Really?
The most recent event happened when I closed my account after 23 years. They said that I had a credit of approximately 55.00, and that after I returned their equipment, which I did, would be sent to me. Three weeks so far and no check. But, they did go into my checking account without my authorization and deduct 25 dollars for four movies that they said I never paid for back in 2013. So their company policy must be that if the customer owes them money, take it. If they owe you money try to get it. The lesson here is never ever link your banking accounts to any service which I plan to correct today. I guess they need the money for their employee assistance fund.

The story is so long, so wrong and so infuriating that it should simply suffice to say that if you choose to do business with AT&T and/or DirecTV after this warning you probably deserve what you get. They bald-face lied about the services included and the package rates. When trying to get things straightened out, including hours and hours on multiple calls, reporting and covering the same problems over and over, we learned that NO ONE at AT&T or DirecTV has any ownership or accountability for anything, and that no government agency or public service agency will pursue or hold them accountable.
To add insult to injury, they state publicly that they have non-compete agreements between the 3 largest service providers, AT&T, Verizon and Charter. They operate as licensed thieves. What a pitiful excuse for service, the complete absence of integrity and violation of free market monopoly protection for consumers. I'll NEVER do business with AT&T or DirecTV again, and encourage you to make the smart decision, which is doing business with anyone but AT&T/DirecTV.

DIRECTV INSTALLATION IS THE WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD IN A SIMILAR SITUATION!!! - EVER!!! We were scheduled to have DirecTV installation on August 28th. Installer came, used his gadget to determine if branches were in the way. Installer pointed out the branches (I have large/high trees, so these are not small branches) and we made arrangements to have those branches cut down. The Installer rescheduled the install for 9/1/16. Another installer came over on 9/1/16 to do the installation, but told us we had to take down some other branches that were in the way. Different branches from what installer #1 pointed out. We said we would call for emergency tree service and have the branch cut down right away as we wanted installation now that we had moved into the house.
The second installer (Randy) stated he would be back around 4-4:30 p.m. He never returned and we had the expense of emergency tree service so that it would be done in time before the technician got back at 4ish. The technician (Randy) never came back. We called DirecTV and after being transferred from department to department, was cut off once and waited hours cumulatively on hold. I was told by the supervisor that the install had been put on hold and that the earliest installation date would be September 7th because of the Labor Day holiday. We found this unacceptable, because the tree branches were cut as we were instructed to do by the installer, we ended up making two tree service calls (one emergency) and it cost us a small fortune to remove the limbs that were allegedly in the way prior to his return. This is an oak tree that we hated to cut.
Started fresh on the phone with DirecTV and CenturyLink the next day on 9/2/16. Each pointing the finger at the other with regard to our problem and neither had a solution. We had ordered a bundle and CenturyLink told us that in looking at DirecTV's order, that there was no bundle ordered through DirecTV. Of course, we ordered a bundle to include TV, Internet and phone. Now I go back to DirecTV giving this same story over and over and over again during four grueling hours on the phone mainly with DirecTV, I was exhausted, frustrated, and really could not believe the lack of customer service. I stated if this is the type of service we are going to get, and we're not even a customer, that we should go with another provider.
After 4 hours went by and I told my story ten (10) times on 9/2 alone, I called my husband and we decided to call Dish TV. Wow. We got immediate service with installation yesterday 9/5, a professional installer, and it was Labor Day and Dish installers were working. Finally, a solution to a problem that could have been avoided if I had called Dish TV to begin with. Come to find out, Dish installed the equipment and would not have had to take any branches down. Kudos to DISH TV.

We have DirecTV for over 10 years and were very happy with service it provided. I used to have $9.99 monthly protection plan on our DirecTV equipment and it worked very well for us. Last time we had a DirecTV technician over (sometime June 2016) he persuaded us to upgrade our protection plan to $19.99 a month, which would cover any badness that could happen to our TV. He actually said that his wife, while making their bed, sent remote control flying and cracked the screen of their brand new TV screen and it was replaced by DirecTV under insurance agreement.
So here we are, few months and $10 a month increase in our payments, that I call DirecTV about finding crack going across our 52 inch TV screen and they tell me it is not covered by the insurance!!! What a scam!!! We are just an average family, on the budget and we actually are stupid enough to trust DirecTV employee to help us!!! Never again! I just cancelled our "premium" insurance, and since we do not have local ABC station due to dispute I'm actually mad enough to consider cancelling our contract with DirecTV and looking for new options. OMG do I have to go back to Dish.

AT&T refused to reduce my bill - all they said was they will prorate it once directv is installed. I should have come to my senses then and cancelled the service completely but did not. Finally after 10 days Directv came to install the satellite and other necessary equipment. They were unsuccessful after being at our home for 8 hours. They left and said AT&T will call back. Of course nobody called. I called after 2 days and now they said - somebody can come back to reinstall and they could give me a date 2 weeks from today. So more than 3 weeks total time. The house is a mess as the previous installation techs had to move everything around to figure out the issue. They did not even make an effort to help expedite the issue. Very very disappointed. One year ago I switched to DirecTV. I did so after a high pressure salesman talked me into it (my first mistake). I was promised the lowest rates with the best service. I had Comcast (Xfinity) cable, phone, and internet at the time. The DirecTV guy assured me that Comcast would only charge me $50/month for my internet (he told me that he and his father and several people he knew paid $50 after cancelling their cable) and my DirecTV would be $64/month which would save me around $80/month from what I was paying. He also told me to wait until the satellite dish was installed before I called Comcast to cancel the cable. I foolishly listened to him. He also told me my DirecTV bill would be $64/month and WOULD NEVER INCREASE over the two year contract. Well, I was very unsure about the whole thing, but he was so convincing and seemed so sincere that I signed up for a two year contract. HUGE MISTAKE.
First off, after having the dish installed, I called Comcast to cancel my cable. I still needed them for internet as DirecTV didn't offer it. Instead of the $50 the DirecTV guy said it would be, it was $140. I was able to talk Comcast down to $97. So now I am just about paying what I was before with Comcast for three services (phone, internet, and cable) but only getting satellite and internet. This wouldn't have been so bad except that the satellite goes out if it rains a little too hard, the wind blows, it snows, and sometimes for no apparent reason at all! Again, when I had mentioned my concerns about this sort of thing with satellite dishes, the salesman had assured me that the technology had advanced so much that this was no longer an issue.
Now fast forward a year and I see that my rate has increased to $114/month! Of course I called DirecTV knowing there must be some sort of mistake, as the salesman assured me my rate WOULD NOT increase for two years, the term of the contract. When I called DirecTV, the gentleman on the phone said, "no one ever told you that". He also said that the contract said that rates were subject to change. But I signed a two year contract! Doesn't matter. I said "I wanted to cancel my service." He said I would have to pay a $240 cancellation fee. "Why?" I asked? "Because you have a two year contract", he replied. Oh, so the contract is only binding on my end. What an irony!
Now I understand those Comcast commercials where they show the football players tackling the DirecTV customers. So now I am tearing my house apart trying to find the damn contract where it was written, 2 years, no increase!! I am so disgusted with that company! Not to mention there are hundreds of channels that are nothing that you have to scroll by to get to anything. And the "on demand" is not on demand at all! It's whenever they feel like it. I still don't understand that whole thing. Anyway, DirecTV has been a big mistake and a huge disappointment. DON'T DO IT!!!

Caution if you ever order MLB or NFL sport packages as AT&T has a scam going. I've been a Directv subscriber, at the top tier, for over 10 years. I've always bragged on their customer service as any issues I had were quickly resolved, and with a focus to ensure I was satisfied. Now AT&T owns Directv and my first customer service experience was very poor. I ordered MLB package 4 or 5 years ago. I decided after 1 season that I no longer wished to have the service. I have been re-billed for the service every year. Every year I call customer service to advise that I canceled the service. Until AT&T took over, Directv would credit my account every year, without question, and provide a few extra discounts for my headaches.
The only problem was they continued to fail to remove the programming from my account. In 2015 I expressed extreme frustration for MLB continued auto renewal. Directv promised me it would be canceled for good and credited my account. Of course, MLB auto renewed this year. I discovered the charge and contacted AT&T. After nearly 30 minutes of a chat session with a very polite account rep, I was advised nothing could be done. I demanded my complaint be escalated. I was placed in a chat with a supervisor. After 15 minutes of chatting I was provided a credit to my account for the charges, but then told it would again auto renew next year.
First, I should not have to spend nearly 1 hour in a chat, first be told nothing could be done, and demand to have my complaint escalated, just to get a credit for something that was supposed to be canceled the prior year. Second, it boggles my senses that something I've called to canceled several years in a row will continue to auto renew. Seriously??? What a scam. You order MLB once and it's like a bad disease that you can't get rid of. How does something you canceled auto renew? Like it or not they will force it on you year after year. Do they not know what "cancel the package" means. Had I not pushed the matter I would have stuck with paying the bill. I left AT&T mobility years ago due to horrible customer service. Now it looks like I do the same with Directv. What a shame because Directv was great.

I was told my bills would be combined and I would get an additional $10 off since I had AT&T and Directv and unlimited date. I have called many times since that fateful day was given a runaround by AT&T and Directv. I was told so many times it would happen. I have a document where the sales person marked what I would get. I didn't get anything. I went to an AT&T store Aug 27 and tried to get a human involved. An hour in the store the sales person tried his hardest but AT&T would only combine the bills.
They says I am not illegible for anything even though I signed up for that period. What I didn't get was a notice that they are enrolling me in auto pay and are going to tap directly into my credit card account. Something I didn't sign up for and would never want. I have been swindled and lied to by AT&T and Directv and they refused to honor the contract which I have in writing. They of course blame me and say I should have called sooner. I called AT&T and put a stop to the auto pay. I told them I want the combined bill stopped too. Like all the other times they couldn't give me a tracking number. The audio cuts in and out so you can't understand what is being said. Calls to DirecTV yield answers like "we are working on the system and hope to have it fixed soon" and "try changing the channel or reset the box." Nothing works. You pay full price for a system that doesn't work, so will they make adjustments? I was told that once the system is fixed they will make adjustments. Meanwhile you pay for something you can't use. Only the TV connected to the main unit is able to hear complete sentences. Don't get the Genie system. I'm hopeful that complaints to the FTC will motivate DirecTV to do something but now that they are part of AT&T I'm not holding my breath.

My dilemma and nightmare started when I tried to disconnect in April. I was offered a $5.00 discount to stay and advised that I had a credit and should stay till then. I informed the gentlemen that I would not be staying past that credit. That he could do whatever, but I did not want to stay. I contacted another provider and connected with them. I expected to receive a box to return equipment and never received it. I contacted them again and advised that I had disconnected. The response that I received is that I did not talk to the disconnect department. I informed the gentlemen that I called DirecTV and requested a disconnect and informed him that they should not try and keep customers when they wish to disconnect. The philosophy behind this is that they try to keep you by offering discounts that you should automatically have. I liked the old DirecTV. Before it merged they were customer service friendly.
They finally sent me a box but just for one receiver. I contacted them because of the ongoing bill which by their own representative would be rectified. They want to charge for service that I requested it be disconnected. I receive emails requesting that they will make it right if I come back to them. That will not happen because of the service they receive. If you leave them when you tell them, "I don't want your service." They do not like that. Then you should take care of your customers when all they request is that you match the service you are offering to others in the neighborhood (which was an extra tv connection). After 13 years of loyal service, they just don't care. They only care about the new customers and once they have you they will do the same to you as they did us (bad service).

July of 2015, our house burned down. We settled in our RV, which, we had planned to be full time in December 2015. My 2 year contract with DIRECTV was due in August of 2015. I called the first week of August to report the loss of my receivers in the fire, our relocation plans, and to negotiate new rates to maintain my business with the company. Everything appeared fine. The relocation to the RV was ok, the receivers would be covered on the service agreement and I could upgrade to the wireless Genie for the bedroom, and we negotiated what I thought was a fair price for 1 year, a $43 discount.
After purchasing a portable satellite dish, I contacted DIRECTV to have everything hooked up in the RV. I was told by them that they could hook up the receivers, but they could not adjust or tune in my dish, since it was not on a permanent mount. I was overwhelmed with all of the issues from the fire and I felt I could not do this myself and that is something they should do, I reluctantly canceled my service. After a couple of days and discussion with my neighbor, I felt this was something we could do. I contacted DIRECTV to reinstate my service. A service person came and installed everything and set up my dish. Then the billing started for the Genies that were destroyed in the fire. I was told that since I did not return them, I would have to pay for them. I asked if they wanted me to send clumps of plastic to them. That was not necessary and they would be removed from the bill.
This went on for 3 months with the same phone calls and response each month. The charges for the equipment did not show up after that. I had 2 odd charges in the next year that I should not have had. Again, I had to call and straighten these out. They were resolved. 3 months ago, I received an e-mail stating my free year of NFL Sunday Ticket would expire and I would be billed a fee for 6 months if I did not contact them to cancel it. I called immediately and canceled it. Last month, I received an installment charge on my bill for the NFL Sunday Ticket. I called again and they did remove the charge and cancel the package.
Today, I received a bill that is approximately $40 higher than my previous bill. I called and to my surprise, I found out that I have been locked into a 2 year agreement and the discount was only good for 1 year. The reason is I upgraded from a regular mini Genie to a wireless mini Genie. I tried to explain that my RV is fully wired and I did not need the wireless and I would not have agreed to have wireless if I would have known of the extended contract. To no avail. I was informed I am stuck with THEIR conditions and that is that.
Now I am stuck with the decision of biting the bullet and finding a new service provider, paying off the contract, or fighting and not paying DIRECTV any further fees. This is a company that you can not trust. You must have anything they promise in writing prior to any agreement. You have to watch their billing very closely, they will try to deceive you. And they will bait and switch without your knowing.

The tech had problems installing the dish and said it may not work, but that we had 30 days. He was here for like 6 hours and multiple holes later we had bad service. Even though it went out and we had to watch DVDs, we decided to wait to see how the internet did. It was installed 4 days later. The internet did not work well in our area either and even though it showed connected we never actually got a page to load.
So, since we bundled everything to save money we decided to cancel since the internet didn't work and the cable said searching for satellite half the time anyway. After, a painful hour of rude DirecTV service reps we still have the issue unresolved. They want to charge us $450 fee for disconnecting services that never worked or didn't work well. They said we have 24 hours to cancel! That's it?! Clearly, they have ZERO faith in their system as 24 hours is a nothing warranty. I would like to mention that U-Verse canceled with zero hassle and were extremely pleasant. DirecTV is a nightmare!

I have had DirecTV satellite service for about 15 years. During that period, their service quality continuously deteriorates. As long as you are up and running, they are OK. However, if you are going to make any changes to your services, you are in for a series of problems. On their recommendation, I chose to upgrade my receivers to the latest technology. When the tech came out to do the work, he was ill prepared to handle the job. After working on it for several hours, he couldn't complete the job and said that he would return to fix it in two days. He didn't.
I called their service center and was told that there was no appointment and that my job was shown as complete. To make it worse, they said that the soonest that they could rectify the problem was 8 days later. So, 2 of my TVs do not work, and they could care less. A supervisor admitted that if something is not in their computer, then their hands are tied. She also said that there is no distinction between a job they messed up vs a new service request. They are both handled on a first come, first serve basis. If I could go to any other company, I would. I would say, stay away from this company at all costs if you have another choice.

We recently moved and I called DirecTV to install internet and TV service. I was told since I already have AT&T service at another home whom DirecTV partners with I would possibly get a discount. I went through the entire process and I stated I wanted to check with Charter for their specials and make a choice. The CSR stated I was free to do so but would have to start the entire process over. I went with DirecTV to avoid the hassle. The CSR gave me my appointment for the DirecTV install then connected with AT&T and set up that appointment.
When the installer from DirecTV came he stated he was confused that the internet wasn't connected and after it was he would have to come back and finish the job. Red flags should have went off at that time... I took off work to be at the AT&T appointment but they never showed up. I called DirecTV they called AT&T and AT&T stated there was no service in my area. I stated I needed to cancel my DirecTV account then and the CSR rep stated "well you can still watch TV." Extremely rude CSR. I spoke with another rep and was told a early termination charge of $495.00 was applying to my account.
I called Charter after learning they will pay early disconnect charges if you sign up with them. It just so happens that Charter pays up to $500.00. What a coincidence. They lied to me knowing I could not get internet and I wrote to the President of DirecTV per the instructions on the book you get and was contacted back by a CSR who told me there was nothing I could do. Contacting the BBB next.

I recently switched from Verizon to AT&T. My DIRECTV bundle was supposed to stay exactly the same. The only difference was I would now be getting the NFL package. This was not the case. We lost over 60 channels. 60 channels that my husband and children watched on a regular basis. 60 channels that we once had and now are gone. After calling DIRECTV and having them go through every step with us from restarting the entire system, they were unable to tell us what happened. Not that I cared. I just wanted to know when it would be resolved. To this day it still has not. It has been a week. I have had DIRECTV for over 15 years. This is very disappointing to us to say the least.

I contacted them and they said they were aware of the problem (but installed anyway) and refer to it as CADI "Current Active Daily Issue". They have refused to re-install my old unit, a Genie DVR and remove the new "mini" unit. Told me I am stuck with it until they solve the "software issue" with no fix in sight. I have been with DirecTV for many years. In Sacramento, Los Angles, Las Vegas, Denver, and now Atlanta. The service has always been excellent. I have enjoyed the variety of channels and the quality of reception, except when the weather is inclement. I had no plans to change service. So why am I giving them up? DirecTV is now part of AT&T. I am 76 years old and have had the misfortune of having considerable experience with AT&T. Everything AT&T touches they ruin. I am already seeing problems with DirecTV that I had not seen before. For example, the reception is not as good as it was. So I am switching to Comcast-Xfinity. While doing business with Xfinity has been very difficult in making the switch, I have been using Xfinity of my internet and land line, and so I made the decision to use Xfinity with my eyes wide open. I called DirecTV that day and told them I was unhappy with the dish. He assured me if l called before 10 pm I would not be charged a disconnection fee.
Later in the day my wife called to cancel and while they tried to convince us of the great product, it started to rain and our signal went out. Lady said it easy normal and would only last a couple of minutes and was caused by the dish not being aligned properly and that we could cancel at a time within the month at no disconnection fee. We cancelled and got a bill for over 420.00. I have been told that satellite dishes go out in bad weather. This is true. I am going back to WOW! and going to pay more for a reliable service.

I spoke with a DirecTV rep on 08/11/16 and made a payment and agreed to make another 2 weeks later. He assured me that no funds would be removed from my account because I had intended to reopen my account. And on 8/15/2016 DirecTV took out $356.39 out of my account. I spoke with approx 10 different representatives and was told I would receive my refund in 7-10 business days and this was only after reopening my account. I have since spoken with several reps who state my refund is in process but each time I call it gets sent back to the finance department because again they still haven't processed my refund which should be for $245.81. I was supposed to be able to move my services for free but that cost me $31.05. I have continued to talk to reps and it’s the same old story every time.
Also my refund continues to go down because they have decided to pay my first month’s bill. I rented a movie (also a nightmare). They have reduced by that as well, and I have Comcast internet and the installer did not put the correct attachment on my box so that I can connect my internet... I have had one box sent but it wasn't the correct box so I'm waiting on something else now. Since my service has been restored I can't record the same amount of shows as before. I'd like to change my package but am afraid that will reduce my refund yet again. I have spoken to several so called supervisors but still nothing is happening. After 5 and a half years of service I still couldn't get another HD box since the amount of rooms changed when I moved but initially I was told that another box would not be an issue.
I don't know what else to do. I am trying to get my refund then I will cancel my services. I'd like to have them reinstalled with all the latest equipment in my boyfriend's name since they're refusing to do anything for me but that puts us under a 2 yr contract which I don't want to commit to these jerks. They take your money and they could've refunded my money directly to my card according to several reps but after me crying and begging them to do so since my electric would be cut off due to their actions I had one rep tell me that wasn't her problem and she didn't care. So I've had to do loans to be able to keep the electric on and buy food for my 3 kids. I also still can't order movies without calling and then they want to charge me $5.00 because I need a rep but they can't get the equipment correct.
They could be making so much additional money due to a bundle since we have a AT&T cell phone but they're just really messing up. I'm afraid if I cancel my service I will never get my refund. I had not had a problem in the 5 and a half years prior but this incident has definitely made up for it. And of course since they think no one has anything better to do my first call was over 4 and half hours. If you add all the calls I've had to make and the time I've spent talking to these people has been a total of almost 10 hours at this point. I've sent emails to DirecTV with no response. This company is ridiculous and I don't recommend them for anything. They hire the most rude, disrespectful, good for nothing individuals I've ever met. If I could get through my phone they would've needed medical attention. Save your time and money and RUN RUN RUN as far away as you can from this company.

I'd complain and have it fixed or they would claim to fix it, but the same mistakes would reappear and no credit given for the last mistake. It is a billing nightmare. Overcharging or illegally adding services from $50-$100 every month. If you thought cable was bad this is way worse. I am so glad my "contract" is up. I'm canceling and never looking back. So much money wasted.

I got DirecTV 3 years ago and after the 2 yr promotion was over my bill skyrocket to 100 dollars more a month! Canceled NFL package but got charged a extra year cause they never canceled it the 2 times I called and on the 3rd try they said that it was too late to change even though I tried 2 months before that! I paid 159 dollars a month only for TV and only had the step up from basic! I had to pay 40 dollars a month for 3 boxes! So when I moved out of state and they weren't willing to treat me like a loyal customer I canceled my service and went to Comcast. Now I pay 58.11 a month and have HBO!
If they give promotions to new customers and nothing for their loyal customers I will NEVER use them again and I will write reviews about them wherever I can! It seems to me like the satellite companies are playing monopoly with our wallets! So good riddance DirecTV. I will never use you again or tell anybody to use you because all y'all are about is the dollar and not your customers!
I talk to them every month for a year straight trying to get my bill figured out and every month they would tell me something different and every time I get my bill it was always the same price! Some advice everybody wanting cable TV or satellite TV. Shop around with everybody else because these people will tell you one thing and then bill you for other things that you don't even ask for! You can never understand them because they're from some other countries and then I've had one be so rude to me start yelling at me when I told her I wanted to talk to a manager and she kept telling me "He's just going to tell you what I told you." And I told her "Fine just let me talk to someone else." And she was so rude I had to hang up on her and called back just to talk to someone else. UPDATED ON 09/02/2016: When I first signed up for DirecTV around 5/31/2015 I was in a condo. I asked the sales rep if I wanted to cancel the contract early how that would work. I was told that if I canceled services I can make $20 payments till the contract is up. I asked the sales rep what the moving cost are because I was in the process of buying a home. I also advised the sales rep that I will be getting a bigger home so I will be needing to add more tvs to the new location and the rep advised that they are able to help with that also. The sales rep advised me that I will get 1 free move! I signed up with DirecTV and my services started 6/1/2015.
In 11/2015, I called DirecTV to advise that I was moving and I needed my services moved to my new location in Kingsland, GA. I was told over the phone that I will be charged for the move because I haven't been a new for a year. I asked for a manager, the manager had to call the phone from 5/31/2016 and honored the 1 free move because the sales rep was wrong! In the early part of 2016 I needed to relocate a tv for one part of the house to another part of the house because of an electrical problem. I called DirecTV and they advised to me that it's $50 to install and $50 to relocate. I got a manager and a manager pulled the call from 5/31/2016 and she honored it and didn't charged me anything.
So far this company has done nothing but lie to me since day one! In the beginning of 08/2016 I called to advise to move my due date from 16th to 20th of every month. I was told that I can make a manual payment on 8/20/2016. I have anyways made an automatic payment on the 16th of each month. On 08/18/2016 I noticed an overdraft fee from my bank from DirecTV taking a payment on the 16th after I was advised to make an manual payment on the 20th. The overdraft charge was $36 and I wanted that back. I chatted with the online chat and advised of the overdraft fee and I was advised that I will get a refund. I got an email from DirecTV advising that they are refunding the full payment of $103.09. I didn't ask for the full payment I wanted the $36 overdraft fee.
After I received the refund I went back online and saw that now my bill was $88.09. I chatted with the online chat and advised to them that they need to removed $16 and I can make a payment of $62.09 for 8/2016, and that the will be the overdraft fee they owed to me. After I made the payment and after making a few complaints with the BBB and Department of Consumer Services. I was finally contact after I was advised I was going to get a call and it took them weeks to call. I was told that I was going to get a higher for 9/2016 because I got a credit of the $16 they took off for 08/2016. I was also lied to again this year and it was resolved later.
Once again now I am being lied to again I am now wanting to cancel services and now I am being told that no calls can be pulled from 6/2015. I will be charged $180 and it will be upfront and not in payments. I am so tired of this company and I don't trust them. There has been a few times where my bill was wrong and I was lied to on the billing for the pricing. Anything is a lie about this company and I want out!

I was a DirecTV customer for two years, then moved and put my DirecTV service on hold for nearly a year. When I contacted DirecTV to fulfill the remaining year on my original contract, they offered me the premium channels free for 3 months and Sunday NFL Ticket free as well. On my first bill I noticed a charge for $43.19 for premium channels. I called to contest the charge. To finally get the credit on my next bill, it took five calls, countless transfers to the wrong department, numerous long waits, two returned calls and lots of repeating due to foreign accents or the representative not understanding my question. The entire time, the representatives complimented me for my patience in waiting and for being a loyal customer. I heard this so many times that I began rolling my eyes when they said it.
And when they finally tried to make it right, they tried offering me less than the full amount. "I can offer to credit your account $10/month for two months." I asked to speak with someone who could offer me the full amount. The same representative immediately offered me the full amount and said that it will be credited on my next statement. He was reading off a script. He was instructed to offer me less. This is bad policy.
Sometime in the year that I left DirecTV and returned, AT&T merged with DirecTV. Customer service used to be good. Now it isn't. Representatives have been trained to profusely apologize but not to serve customers. DirecTV has lost my trust. They have made me a wary consumer who will be watching every line of my bill every month. I will not be recommending their services to others. This wasn't the case before. What happened to the well-trained DirecTV customer service staff? They have almost lost a customer. In fact, I could have gone with cable for cheaper and when my contract is up, I probably will.

Overall I'm satisfy with the services. It's just that the installation part take too long. Overall I'm happy right now. Just hope when I start services nothing changes.

When I signed up for DirecTV 12 months ago, they indicated that my monthly bill would go up $10 after the end of the promotion period. It went up $49. I tried to work things out with them, but to no avail. When I canceled the account, they charged me a $220 cancellation fee. Don't believe what the sales people tell you. They lied! Read the contract carefully.

If it wasn't for how big of a football fan my household is I would NOT have DirecTv. Time and time again I have been told one thing and promised one thing then charged for another. First time I moved I was told that my next time that I moved I would not have a charge. Then told that was not true and that I was being charged $600 for moving again. When I then moved for the second time I was charged before I got anything installed. At this point my home doesn't have TV. The installer came and said that if I waited a month that I would not be charged for moving or getting two more receivers and that I would not be charged for his visit that day and that $600 will be retroactive.
So when I called a month later to have it installed they tried to force me to pay the $600 before they came to my house! I don't even have service yet. With customer service I just continue to get shuffled around and told "it's in the account notes they can credit it back to you so you can get your service installed". After hours and hours of this I finally got $300 credited back. But that's it. They now are making me pay the $300 for my service to be turned on and installed. I've gone 2 months without service no past due. That's not even talking about the lies I've been told about NFL ticket like how I was not going to be charged until 2017 and now being told I am paying $44 a month for it? This is ridiculous. I want my problem rectified and I'm just continuing to be lied to.

When I order the service with ATT, because they offer a better price, they convince to made only one bill with three services, Cable, Internet and Residential phone, but never after 4 months. I have to pay more than I was paying with the other company. DirecTV is BAD. Now I stuck with then for 2 years. I very dissatisfied. Never never again I going to contract directv.

I signed up for DirecTV at Walmart for the 200 dollar Walmart gift card. At the time I already had dish (which I had no problems with). The representative that work with signing me up told me to send in this paper along with my activation paper which I did. Months later I still don't have the gift card and DirecTV states "that there was no promotion going on at that time" but will credit me $200 on my account. Which is an OK jester. But I'm still a dissatisfied customer because that's not what I agreed upon. I will be ending my services from DirecTV as soon as the 200 credit is over. So for future customers that signed up for the $200 Walmart gift card just know it might not be a gift card you're signing up for. It might just be a $200 credit on your account.
