The services we receive from SiteLock are managed by our hosting provider, Bluehost. There was recently a mix-up concerning the renewal date of our services. The hosting provider had a later expiration date for our account than SiteLock was showing in their system, and I had received a notice of pending cancellation from SiteLock. After speaking with Bluehost, I did not have confidence that SiteLock had an accurate expiration date for our account, which prompted me to call SiteLock and speak with Brianna.
After hearing my concerns, Brianna immediately initiated a conference call with Bluehost to ensure all parties involved had the correct information for the account, and confirmed the expiration date as well as ensured the account was set for auto renewal. Rather than simply pass off the situation as one I needed to take up with our hosting provider, Brianna took charge of the situation and dealt with it directly. Her approach brought a quick, thorough, and headache-free resolution. Thank you, Brianna!

Have learned a lot on what kind of traffic was visiting my 3 sites. 50% of my traffic has stopped due to Bad Bots on 2 sites. I am having it checked out to see if the Fire Wall you use does not cause problems. Most of my traffic comes from inquiries from all of the heavy advertising I do and the fact that these sites have been up and running since 2000.

I have had a security issue on my site for the better part of a year. Every time SiteLock cleans and says things are fine, when the issue would keep occurring. Devin ** was the only person I have contacted that listened to my points otherwise, and he personally looked into the issue even after what was told was a clean sweep and nothing wrong. He took it upon himself, and he found the security threat that I was repeatedly told never existed by everyone else that I ever contacted. My business is my livelihood, and while I wish site lock would have paid more attention in the 10 months or so prior, I am extremely pleased that Devin took the time to understand and go above and beyond.

When a situation involves tech support, the communication between the concierge and the tech person is smooth. I love that I can just pick up a phone and call the same person each time. I also love that I'm sold only the products I actually need and not urged to purchase products I don't need. It's a scary world out there, and I know my Wordpress website is vulnerable. Host Gator recommended SiteLock to my boss and he decided to apply it to two new sites that we had on SiteGround. We've had problems with Host Gator in the past, which is why we are using SiteGround instead now and I didn't like it at all that he was giving the username and password for our CPanel to a security company recommended by Host Gator. He refused my advice and did it anyways. The very next day all our emails stopped working, both for PHPMailer and WP Mail SMTP. I got very upset and we contacted SiteLock. My boss was paying $240 a month for the full security package and it took them about two days to get back to us on the issue. When they did get back to us, they merely gave us the same Google Chrome description that was given in the URL on the error page and they said they couldn't replicate the error themselves.
We changed the password to the CPanel and reverted the site back to an earlier state before the SiteLock installation and it failed to resolve the issue. When we spoke to SiteGround about the issue the helper pointed out that an IP address had been added to our domain. When the IP address was researched it turned out it wasn't even for SiteLock. SiteLock was using Incapsula Inc. and claiming the work as its own. The SiteGround helper gave us a workaround and we were able to get the emails to work again, but since then I've noticed bugs occurring in the application which weren't there before the SiteLock installation. To me this is further evidence that SiteLock still hasn't been completely removed from the server. I'm trying to convince my boss to get rid of the current server space and start out with an entirely fresh one. My boss has declared the contract he made with them void and refuses to pay them anything. It was a waste of time and resources.

I went through my hosting company's support chat to speak with one of their representatives to inquire what I can do about my website which was hacked. My hosting company connected me with a SiteLock representative, automatically. He informed me that for $70/month, their company could clean the website and restore it back to its original state.
The whole processed seemed rushed. He wanted me to sign a contract, which seemed bizarre because I expressed that I only wanted to sign up for one month. The guy emphasized that I could "cancel at any time." However, the contract is for 6-months of service. And there's a termination fee of 50% of the 6-month sum. Ah. That's why they want you to sign a contract.
He did not disclose, at any time, that I would be signing up for 6-months when I gave him my credit card # and billing information. I was under the impression that I was signing up for a month-by-month service. While the blame is on me for signing something hastily – if I was informed that I would be paying $420 total via chat, I would not have signed up for their service in the first place.
The worst part is that SiteLock makes it difficult to cancel too. There is NO OPTION on their website to stop automatic charges from your card or to cancel their service. You have to call them. This is when they try to convince you to roll their service to another site or upsell you. My website was never actually restored. I deleted it. Read: I DELETED THE WEBSITE WHICH WAS HACKED. When SiteLock charged me $70 for a site that no longer existed. I knew I had to make a comment here. They would continue to charge me for this non-existent site if I let them. I regret ever signing up with them. I also am dissatisfied by my hosting company, because they probably get considerable kick-back from these sorts of companies.

My WordPress site was hacked last year and my hosting company, Fatcow, transferred me to SiteLock to clean the malware. I paid $300 to have the site cleaned and signed a 6-month contract at $49/month to keep it clean. They cleaned the site, which was great. Since then, my site was hacked again and I was told it would be $300 to clean it again. I decided to start over, delete all my site data and rebuild from scratch without WordPress. I tried to cancel my SiteLock account because I don't need it anymore and found out that my six-month contract auto renewed without notification.
They refuse to cancel my account without charging me the remaining three months on my contract. I understand, but I no longer need the services and I wasn't notified the contract would auto-renew to another six-month contract. To me, renewing my contract without notification is predatory. Continuing to charge me despite the fact that I no longer have any websites to protect is also predatory. Customer service has been no help. I have been told, "Call back and your account manager will be able to waive the termination fee," then, "We cannot waive the fee." Predatory behavior, mixed messages, poor customer service.

I got an email from support@sitelock.com that states "Because website security is important, your hosting provider has provided you with a complimentary scanner from SiteLock... During a recent scan, a vulnerability was detected on your website... please contact SiteLock today... For security purposes, we do not reference the specific website scanned because we do not want to expose the location of the vulnerability." This is utter nonsense. How would referencing the website address expose the location of the vulnerability? And obviously they don't even know what hosting provider I'm using or they would have specified this. No, I'm not a verified buyer. I'm smart enough not to be.

Just like the others said this site is trying to or “has” created a monopoly on the internet by aggressive intel gathering and most likely cyberhacking through the use of their “expert" team who knew exactly which files were malicious AND discussed it with YOUR web host provider, which there are plenty now on SiteLock’s list! And I mean plenty. They got me for 49.99 a month and coerced me into their terms/contract by consequence of my website remaining not only suspended but open to the same “malicious” attacks in the future which could permanently suspend my account.
Google already flagged my site. It was JUST beginning to generate traffic and revenue. It had been online for 4-5 months and then this. My site is blank as I write this, lol. It is amazing what human greed can destroy. I smell lawsuits or trouble period for fraudulent businesses. It almost makes me want to start my own high quality web hosting service but It my heart is generous so I’d make it free for internet users.

SiteLock.com is a scam. They lead you to believe their service will protect your side of DoS and it still happens. They lock you into a long term contract and when there is a disruption, there is no consideration of a credit for the service they did not deliver. We had a DoS and their security layer was supposed to work and it didn't. They explained that their system did not work the way it was supposed to.
So today they call me after 12 months to ask me for my last payment and what they can do for me. I said, "Absolutely nothing because that is exactly the way you treated my company with your service." The customer service agent Elantria takes my CC, then keeps saying she is sorry for what happened then after processing my card, asks me what they could do for me. Well nothing actually because they took my money and did not offer me the credit that I wanted for that month we had the DoS and they did nothing about it. Please do your research before you pay for this service, it is not worth it!

When I discovered that all five of my websites, hosted on HostGator, were attacked by malware and unusable, I was in complete panic mode. I was devastated, because I happened to be in the middle of a crowdfunding campaign, and my main website, which was a critical part of that campaign, was now not functioning at all. It had taken FOUR YEARS to create the campaign, and it was my second attempt to raise funds. My website being hacked and obliterated was devastating financially. In a panic and sobbing, I called HostGator. HostGator connected me with their "security." I did not know I was being transferred to a third party... I THOUGHT I WAS TALKING TO HOSTGATOR'S SECURITY DEPARTMENT... NOT ANOTHER COMPANY: SITELOCK.
The lady on the phone told me it would cost me $2400 to "manually clean" all five of my websites that had been attacked by malware. Sobbing, I told her I obviously could not afford that. She put me on hold to "talk to her manager" who then miraculously allowed her to offer to clean ONE of my websites, my most important website, for ONLY $600. This was really a good deal; she felt bad for me so was "able to do this" for me. Under duress, sobbing, hysterical, I signed a contract with SiteLock for $600, paying $50 per month.
Here is Hostgator's response, when I contacted them the next day to complain: "I am also sorry to hear that you were not happy with your experiences while working with Sitelock. While Sitelock is our partner, HostGator does not have direct access to their support systems. Furthermore, we understand that some websites may have been damaged by the compromised and that you were experiencing some issues after the cleaning was done. If you have a clean backup of any damage sites that you would like us to restore, we can do so for a fee of $25 per restoration request."
SO... HOSTGATOR WILL RESTORE MY SITE FOR $25, but SITELOCK CHARGED ME $600 to "clean and restore?" I could have given HostGator a clean backup instead of paying SiteLock. Why was that not offered to me at the time?? BECAUSE: This was a "bait and switch" operation. HostGator, IMHO, allows malware to infect the site, the customer calls for help, HostGator's "partner" SiteLock scams the customer... and HostGator and SiteLock share in the outrageous fees they rip off from their own customers.
I feel totally ripped off. I can't afford $50 a month to SiteLock. And by the way SiteLock said it was MY FAULT. I was hacked by malware. I should have purchased extra security on my sites. Well: the sites were created 12 years ago; updated and maintained, but security was not offered at the time they were hosted on HostGator. And that bit of advice cost me $600. A total ripoff, by HostGator and SiteLock. I am now Locked into a contract with SiteLock for $50 a month, and I want to transfer my domains and my websites away from HostGator. But how can I do that?? If I try, will they block/lock my transfer and not allow it?? I feel ripped off and am really upset about it. Beware of HostGator and SiteLock.

Then the heavy sales pitch from SiteLock began- they would remove the malware for 300$. When I said I wasn't interested, they tried to coax me into signing up to a 6 month "plan." I sensed that this was a scam between Hostgator and SiteLock and when I googled "Hostgator and Sitelock Scam" I found lots of evidence to support that. Both are owned by the same company. I went back to Hostgator with all the evidence I found re this scam and finally got my websites back online. Beware both these companies. Steer clear at all costs as they are working together to extort money from innocent customers. It is downright fraud.

My site was hacked on a Friday afternoon and taken offline by Bluehost later that night. We called Bluehost and they said we needed to get the malware cleaned and that they recommended SiteLock because they work with Bluehost and have a representative available. Bluehost transferred us to SiteLock, who said they would clean the site and perform routine scans to catch infections in the future.
The subscription was expensive ($450/yr), but we went with it because they worked with the host, so theoretically could get issues fixed faster and the subscription included a firewall. SiteLock removed the malware, Bluehost got my site back up, and then Sitelock started configuring the firewall. When the site came back up, it was fine. The cleaning was effective. However, as soon as the firewall was installed, stats (and revenue) immediately dropped 25% and we became unable to share the site via any social media (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Flipboard, Buffer) or via a newsletter (MailChimp). Entering a URL for an article failed and the image had "invalid parameters". So, we call SiteLock (Saturday, same day as the firewall went up), explained the firewall was causing a serious problem, and put in a ticket.
As for site stats, to rule out a change in the Google algorithm or seasonal variations, I compared performance against other sites I run. As time passed and we gained data, it became clear the firewall was harming the site somehow (slower load time? blocking good bots? don't know). We called SiteLock on Monday about the ticket and again mid-week. Multiple techs were able to replicate the problem with images/social sharing and said they were working on it. We asked the last tech to cancel the CDN associated with the firewall to see if that would work, as we had issues with Bluehost and a CDN earlier. SiteLock claimed to have turned off the CDN, yet we still couldn't post to social media and the site was still depressed according to Google Analytics. At this point, it's clear the firewall is not going to work for us. The tech tells us there's nothing else he can think to try.
This brings us to a week post-hack. SiteLock has crippled the site and says they can't fix the problem caused by the firewall. So, we call them to cancel the service. They charge a $225 cancellation fee *even though* we had told them the service wasn't working within hours of its installation and even though their own technicians replicated the problem caused by their product.
Bottom line, their service cost us a lot of money. There was the exorbitant cost of the contract, the fee to break it (even though we knew immediately it was harmful), and the lost revenue from the site. Their business practice was completely unethical. If you can't deliver a working product, fine, but don't charge people for it anyway!

I was told by my host that I had no other options to protect my website and so that led me to SiteLock. They signed me up for a twelve month contract when I specifically stated that I wanted a six month. After spending what felt like hours on the phone they finally got my contract corrected to six. Now, fast forward some time, Devin ** of SiteLock, had told me six months ago to cancel on October 11th. I call on October 11th to cancel and once again have to waste my time with people on the phone who want to tell me I have a twelve month contract. Thank goodness I save everything in my email because I was able to forward my email to this woman in billing. She reviewed it (only after arguing with me on the phone that I was wrong) and told me finally that I was correct, I was only under a six month contract.
Here is another issue though, because they don't send me invoices, I was already billed for October apparently. So if I wanted to cancel today, I would be out $100. So now I have to set another calendar reminder to cancel before November so that they don't secretly bill me again because these employees can't get their dates right. I was also assured that no one would argue with me again when I go to call and cancel in November. Not only all of this occurred, but basically when you go to tell them you're switching to a better alternative company with great reviews and cheaper monthly/yearly costs, they make you feel like you're a terrible person and/or a moron that doesn't know what they're doing. So I am over this company, horrible customer service, not upfront when they talk to customers, arguing with me, no invoices... It's 2017, what kind of crap is that?

My websites are hosted with EasyCGI who recommends SiteLock if your websites are infected and you need help cleaning them. I have never agreed to use SiteLock. I received an email last week from SiteLock telling me one of my sites is infected. I called EasyCGI and they told me they would have to transfer me to SiteLock. When I talked to the rep. he told me that I had infections on multiple sites and they could clean them. I was uneasy so I asked him to send me an email with the info. He sent me info on the cost of cleaning ($300) and monthly scans ($20 per site).
As of today, all of my sites are infected according to SiteLock. I downloaded all files from every site and scanned for Virus and Malware. Put the files on an external drive and took it to a major company in town and had them scan. No infections. Here's the interesting part - half of the sites they're telling me are infected have no files, not even a folder, on the EasyCGI server. The domains just point to other sites. I am still awaiting a call back from EasyCGI BUT I CAN'T IMAGINE HOW A SITE CAN SHOW INFECTION IF THERE ARE NO FILES ON THE SERVER.

They say one of my too many Websites was at MEDIUM risk which, without prejudice, is an even BIGGER lie: It's my own code, so... Gave 'em a call.
Nice lady answers, to whom I apologize in advance of my growing anger... Since their crawler offered no information regarding platform issues, and they found ZERO malware issues? She offered her employer no defense. She did explain that it was (the hosting service provider for that specific domain) that had signed me up (i.e. given them access to my informations via their third party agreement). Sitelock then says that they only did an automated scan and that the malware must be in a data file. And in order for them to clean the site I'll have to pay for additional services. At no time during the initial consult did they say that the scan and malware removal would be limited, they just promised to clean the site. While I cannot prove this, nor am I inclined to commit the time and resources to do so, I recommend to all who ask me to avoid these companies.

Write your complaints to BBB!!! YES sold on month to month plan. YES the only time I had problems is when SiteLock partnered with iPage! YES Automatically Signed me up for another 6 month. YES Cancelled well before date!! YES SiteLock took money for six months BUT NEVER Activated the software on my website! YES they still took money from my account after cancel. YES they still want MORE money and my website is held hostage to their viruses malware and Trojans!!
After being harassed by SiteLock for monthly payment I decided to call iPage to speak with a manager to complain about my situation. Upon a lengthy conversation and reviewing my account, iPage representative notices there were additional charges made by SiteLock to my iPage account that were invalid. And immediately gave me a credit on all those charges. Unfortunately I had to call SiteLock directly for the monthly fee reimbursement. Interim I was being harassed with numerous phone calls from Sitelock. When I called a representative at SiteLock I was immediately pressed for the monthly fee. I was seeking three (3) months credit!!!

SiteLock does not provide any of the services they claim and charged me for and when questioned about them they give you a hair brain answer that starts off with "we are fighting a battle." An expensive lesson has been learned. Avoid them like the plague.

I experienced the same as others on here. I thought their malware/virus scan would guarantee that my site was safe. Of course, there was malware detected on my site so my website was deactivated! When I asked why their malware scanner didn't detect it, they said that it can't detect all malware and that this was an especially difficult one. And so...I have to purchase their upgraded plan for $100 per month. This is the SECOND time this has happened and I had to pay extra the last time to get my site "cleaned up".
The guy I spoke with was supposed to send me a contract to sign so they could get me on this plan, but I didn't send it back after speaking with Bluehost (my hosting provider) and with my own IT guy. Together, Bluehost and my IT guy fixed the problem, but I still saw a charge from SiteLock on my card! It just felt like a scam. I did call to cancel the contract I didn't sign, and got them to reimburse the money at least. I'm not sure if they are legit, but the way they conduct business does not make me feel good about using them. Have signed up with another company now.

I upgraded my service with Sitelock online. Then called them to apply their Sitelock seal for which they needed my hosting login ID and password. Two days later the seal was missing. I was disconnected from Sitelock, two nefarious cookies had been add to my site: is_mobile and is_redirect. My directory of blocked IP addresses had been emptied. I am in touch with them now on the matter.

I'm located in Vietnam. Anytime you have a question or a problem you have to wait their working time, which is 14 hours behind than my working time. It makes me wake up at 5 am to contact them or wait until 10 pm... They are not a global company but just for USA. Ok, it is their choice, but not working for us. Even for the technical service, they have a limited number of people attending 24 hours. You have to come back at their working times to have some answers. To cancel my automatic subscription I had to call them more than 10 times, send more than 6 emails and try to chat with them. And if you don't communicate the cancellation 30 days in advance, they will renew it automatically.
It is some kind of cheat policy: they make the things complicated and slow to see if you give up and the automatic renew can't be cancelled. My 6 month subscription finished on July 5th but after my notice to cancel it (over 30 days in advance) they have cancelled immediately, leaving our company unreachable. It is a shame of service. They just unplugged and leave us black out!! Don't use SiteLock, this is my recommendation.

The SiteLock is one of the worse companies I have come across. I called Hostgator and somehow reached SiteLock. I didn't realize it until I signed a contract that I wasn't talking to Hostgator. I was looking for something to speed up the website but she convinced me and sold me her malware system which was completely useless. I signed a contract and tried to cancel it the same day. They said "NO, you have to pay early cancellation fee of $150."
I left it for a month but I disabled my e-commerce website just because of them. They still kept sending me reports about the malware they caught for my non-existing website. It's ridiculous. The real and serious companies give trial period of 30 or 60 days money back guarantee. These people will not let you cancel the contract or will make you pay early termination fee because this is the only way they make money. Losers!!!

I had several WordPress websites I had hosted at Bluehost. I was a customer of theirs (Bluehost) for 15 years. NEVER had a problem with my WordPress sites until this year. I received an email that some files were infected with Malware and when I got on chat support to inquire about it, I was immediately transferred to a SiteLock representative who wanted my credit card # to start "cleaning" my files. After reading the eerily similar reviews here of SiteLock and Bluehost, I wouldn't doubt they pull this scam together to get a quick few hundred dollars out of their customers and split the money. Literally MINUTES after starting the SiteLock "service" I received an email from ANOTHER SiteLock "SENIOR WEB SECURITY CONSULTANT" that said (again -- this is immediately AFTER I started service and gave my credit card number!!):
"Your site is currently infected and does need the cleaning/rewriting that my suggestion would cover. It would cover any future incidents as well as putting a strong proactive measure in place. (The rate of reinfection is very high). There is currently nothing in place to protect it. You will want to implement a proactive measure to help prevent reinfection: Web Application Firewall. The automated malware detection removal tool is strictly reactive and does have limitations: If There is some Malware that is more deeply embedded in the website coding that the automated Malware detection and removal tool is unable to remove as it might affect the functionality of the website. This can be taken care of with a manual scrubbing. In addition, there is not anything in place to prevent reinfection."
"There's currently nothing in place to protect it." -- REALLY? What did I just purchase then? "In addition, there is not anything in place to prevent reinfection." -- Good to know I can expect that my sites will be shut down randomly until I pay hundreds more in this endless game of "Now you need THIS level of protection, now THIS level." Create your own clean backups of all of your sites and databases and have another hosting option ready if you need to make a quick move but avoid this shameful company at all costs.

I have a simple WordPress site with only information and a contact form hosted by iPage. I purchased the basic SiteLock plan through iPage. The plans says it "Blocks automated Bot Attacks", "Daily Malware Scan", "Vulnerability Scan". I was notified my website was shut down due to malware. I contacted SiteLock and the support rep says and I quote "That plan does nothing and you need to upgrade to the Premier Plan." When I called her out on it she said she didn't mean to say that, well I bet she didn't. I've complained to iPage. They shouldn't being selling products and receiving referral fees for products that clearly doesn't work.

I'm a web designer/WordPress developer and have used SiteLock more times than I care to admit. It comes with some of Godaddy's and Bluehost's hosting packages. I no longer use them and am moving all of my clients off their service (which is no small feat). Their dashboard tools are terrible and their customer service is pretty much a sales team who is not there to help you, but rather tries to up-sell you with every issue. They do nothing to fix the issues that their service is supposed to protect you from. About once a week, I get an auto-generated email from Sitelock telling me that they could not connect to my files on my website. These emails do not include a domain... so I'm expected to login to over 40 clients' accounts and find which account has the issue. If you reply to this email, you get no response. If you call them, they try to up-sell you.
Once I find the account with the issue to reconnect, it is an absolute nightmare to do so. You have to enter the FTP info, then sift through EVERY SINGLE Godaddy site on the server to find yours (I'm not kidding, and I'm sure you can imagine there are a lot of sites on Godaddy's server - why I have access to every single one of them via SiteLock seems like a security issue in itself). It's an extremely tedious, SLOW and frustrating process.
Worst case scenario: a site will become infected with malware. Again, I get the auto-email with no clue to which site is infected. You have to upgrade your account to get it cleaned and then it never stays clean. It continues to get infected every few months and they do nothing to help you prevent or fix it. The one site that I've had this happen to, I ended up upgraded to the manual clean & monitoring service. Instead of them cleaning it when it happens, they send that email (you know the one, without any clue as to which domain it is referring) and then I have to call them to request it to be manually cleaned. AGAIN. They don't just automatically do it, like the service implies. I cannot tell you what a frustrating phone call it is. They have no email or chat support and you are stuck to a phone call with someone who is trying to earn commission and has no interest in supporting you. DON'T USE THEM.

I have numerous accounts on Bluehost. Recently I have received warnings from SiteLock informing that I have pages with worms. When you call or contact Bluehost you are redirected to SiteLock and they DO NOT HELP. They only care about selling you their products. I asked for a malware.txt file in order to fix the problem myself. Impossible. I was obliged to find out by myself and to fix it by myself. Shame on SiteLock and Bluehost.

These guys claim to repair virus issues to your site. I had 3 sites that took 3 years to build and they added their premium services. Prices changed and then they started playing around with promotions and would still charge full. The worst of it is that they mangled my sites. On all three there are MySQL errors and did not take any accountability for their actions. They kindly told me to now go and find a programmer to fix. What **!!! They did not even have the courtesy to refund.

I used SiteLock on my website and found it to be extremely helpful. SiteLock's TrueSpeed CDN is reliable and fast, and the customer service provided to me by their company was topnotch. Overall, I'm highly impressed with the effects of the CDN and my users are too. The SiteLock malware removal tool is great too. Many people don't realize that their websites have malware on them. For the price, I don't think it can be beat.

I started with a 30-day free trial and quickly decided this was the right security software for my website. The SiteLock team make the process incredibly easy, and their customer service is excellent. So far, I haven't experienced any hacks since implementing SiteLock's security. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who has been hacked in the past.
