I asked why I did not hear the grease gun go off. I was told by the man taking care of me that the grease guns were new and would not work on my car. I told him I was to get a grease job for what I paid and I better get it .He did do the grease job after I told him that. I should not have to watch everything done to my cars to make sure I get what I paid for. He also told me they do not grease cars over the winter due to the cold. I will not be back.

While traveling, had my oil changed at a vioc in Ohio. They did a superb job of selling me a higher price oil change by saying that if I didn't, my warranty would be voided. The worst part, they removed the metal splash screen to changed the oil (which is proper since it was a Toyota Tundra) and did not properly re-install it. Down the road I noticed that it was being held on by one bolt. It could have been a nasty experience if it fell off.

Valvoline did my NYS inspection on October 19, 2011. I was told that my passenger side windshield wiper blade needed replacement, and that the car would not pass NYS inspection. Prior to my going to Valvoline on Western Avenue, Albany, New York, I took it to Advanced Auto on Altamont Avenue, Schenectady, New York. The man looked at my car and he told me everything was good to go (he checked the lights, wipers, back-up and et cetera). I told the Valvoline representative that I did this, and nothing was wrong with wiper blades minutes ago. The Valvoline representative said that they are not NYS inspectors. As I was waiting in the room, I saw the guy at Valvoline with his left hand on my wiper blade, but I never got up to question him what he was doing. Now I know what he was doing!

Last year the Valvoline on Chrisler Avenue, Schenectady did the same thing! Last year I had that Valvoline do a mechanic's inspection, and I paid $10. I was told that all is fine. Then following week, I took it back for NYS inspection and this time the wiper blade strip was pulled off! Again, I have no proof. I was furious! I hope that the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and NYS will review the fraud that Valvoline is committing. I'm certain that their guys are told that they have to make sales, and they intentionally pull and rip off pieces of the wiper blades so that consumers pay for replacement. This is last time last time I will use Valvoline for anything!

On 8/6/11, I took my 2004 Mazda 3 to the Amelia Valvoline Instant Oil Change store, intending to get an oil change & have them checked the air conditioning coolant. When they checked my car, I was told that the air conditioning didn't need service yet, but that there was pressure building in the system that could ruin the A/C compressor. Then I was told that my transmission & fuel system were due for service. They said that if I had all 3 systems done they had a special deal that would save me money. I was hesitant but agreed to the suggested service.

Immediately upon leaving their store, I began noticing that my car was trying to accelerate when I tried to slow down. Although the engine light did not come on, the tachometer was going up each time the car surged ahead. I took the car back to Vavoline the next day & told them the problem I had with the car accelerating, when I was trying to slow down. They looked at the car & changed a rusty hose clamp. I was then told I was good to go. I left thinking it would be better. After driving the car, I realized that it still was trying to accelerate on its own. I was not told to take it to mechanic if the problem continued. I was not told that to continue to drive car with this problem could cause further damage to my car.

On 8/11/11, I was on the way to work with the engine made a banging noise & the engine light began flashing. The loud noise was replaced with a loud ticking that accelerated when the car accelerated. It was running very rough but I was able to make it to the Anderson AutoZone. They plugged it in to their computer & said that there was a problem with cylinder 3 & O2 sensors. They told me to take it to a mechanic. I drove from there to Jeff Wyler Eastgate Mazda Service.

Mazda service found that the O2 sensors needed replacing & that the spark plug for cylinder 3 was bent at 90 degree angle. They replaced the O2 sensors & all 4 spark plugs. I picked the car up on Saturday & drove it home. The next day, I drove the car to Amelia **. The engine light came on within 1 mile of my house. I stopped at Amelia AutoZone & had them check it with computer again. I was told it had a problem with cylinder 3. I took it back to Mazda on Monday.

Mazda found #3 spark plug was starting to bend again. This time they put a camera into #3 cylinder & found cracked piston & damaged cylinder wall. At the time they felt there may be debris in cylinder although none was seen. I was told I would have to replace the engine.

I contacted Vavoline & the store manager investigated my claim. He maintained that the engine was not hydro-locked, so the damage could not be their fault & that there was metal in engine (that no one had seen). He even tried to blame Mazda for damaging my engine when they repaired it. He did say that they would accept responsibility for damaging O2 sensors & would reimburse me for those repairs. My husband & I have also talked with his manager without any satisfaction.

I went in to EZ Lube with a coupon for a $18.99 oil change. They took my car and called me a half hour later telling me to come get my car because they couldn't change my oil. When I asked what the problem was, they told me my drain plug was stripped and they could not remove my oil pan and I would have to take it to a mechanic because I may need to get a new oil pan for my car. I then went to Pep Boys to get an estimate, without having them personally check it and they told me if I did indeed need a new oil pan, parts and labor would cost me almost $700! Depressed by this thought, I asked my boyfriend to take a look at it for me. He had no problem removing the drain plug and changing my oil for me. EZ Lube had lied to me to get out of changing my oil for $20.

It should have been Honda fluid only. I had to have new transmission flush with Honda fluid. It was better, but never was okay. It consistently began to get worse, until I finally had to have a new transmission at $3900.00. I have tried for two weeks to get a response from Valvoline to no success! I want to be fully reimbursed. Valvoline should be the professionals and know what fluid to use.

I came in with the $18.99 RT oil change coupon and they refused service because I was showing them the coupon on my phone, even though they can easily get the coupon code right off my phone. They said I have to print it out. So, I came back later with a printed coupon and dropped off my car. About an hour or so later, I came back to pick up my car only to find out they haven't done anything to it and refuse to service it. They didn't even call me ahead of time to tell about it. The assistant manager, Edward **, claimed that the oil plug is over torque, therefore, they don't want to service it and assume any liability for it. At that point, I didn't remember his name so I left and came back a 3rd time only to have the other employees gave me the runaround that he was"unavailable and walked away from me. I demanded his name, only to have another employee grabbed a business card for the store manager from the front desk and handed it to me, and walk away without even speaking to me. I said "No", and that I wanted the name of the person I initially spoken with and refused to service my car. Finally, that employee turned around and wrote it down for me.

I took my car to a different shop and told them what happened. An older gentleman took a look and said nothing looks wrong with the screw at all. With just one hand, he easily unscrewed it and turned around to look at me and said, "There's absolutely nothing wrong with your car, they just didn't want to work on it." This is the kind of ethics that the people at ** have. They will make up excuses so as not to service your car if you come in with a coupon, which their company put out! It is false advertisement to get people to come in. These people can't be trusted at all.

I too took a coupon into EZ lube in Hemet Ca, which they refused to honor at the advertised price. They claimed that since my auto had high mileage, they could not honor the 18.99 price. After insisting they honor the price, they finally called the manager, who told me it would only be a few dollars more. Of course this was not for high mileage oil. They quickly changed the oil and even though they claim they fill all fluid, they apparently did not on my car as the very next day I began having problems.

I went to my mechanic, who told me of major engine problems from lack of coolant. I could not afford to fix the problems at that time so just refilled with coolant, which is holding fine. This was three months ago. If it had been filled the day before, I wonder where it all went.

This company is less than ethical in their business practices, attempt to sell products by using "fear tactics" and when you do not buy additional services become rude and disrespectful.

They took the car and did the service. Afterwards, they gave me an invoice for $43. They said my car needed the premium oil! They didn't even ask me if I still wanted them to do the service! Well, the transmission went out and I was wondering who to speak with about Valvoline's policy of protection. The boys in the bays servicing the vehicles know nothing about such things. Is Valvoline partly responsible? I don't know, but it would be at least nice to speak to a representative.

I worked at Valvoline now for a little over a month. I already cannot partake in some of the things that are going on at the store on Michigan Road in Carmel, Indiana. From beginning to end, it just gets worse and worse!

As cars pull into the lot, our employees are trained to jump at the sight of a vehicle and immediately cater to their satisfaction. It almost never happens. Once the vehicle is in the bay, it is the CSR's job to greet the customer, scan in the vehicle and talk about oil with the customer. It is also their job to get the oil filter for the vehicle (while dating it and putting the tech initials on it) and begin the service process by initiating a "light-check." It turns out that CSR is the manager's job here (usually never get checked). Being half-way trained as a hood tech, it was my responsibility to accomplish this. The manager does nothing but sit on his new 3D android, enjoying his game of "angry birds" or "my paper airplane."

After the customer is greeted, the hood tech is supposed to check fluids, air filters, tire pressures, and wash the windshields (it usually never happens). Then, we send our recommendations to the CSR to try to sell the recommendations to the customer. This was also added to my list of duties, while the manager again is on his new 3D android. Once the lower bay tech has drained, the old fluid and the oil filter are changed. That is, if they even change it. Our manager would have us change oil and not the filter, because we didn’t have the filter in stock. The hood tech can then ask the CSR what oil is going into the vehicle. This also became a part of my duties (keeping in mind that all 2011 and newer vehicles take nothing other than a full synthetic blend). Half of the cars got the wrong oil. So, we would send whatever oil the manager told us to. After that, there should be new, or the old air filter is ready to go back in the vehicle. Mingo would sell the air filters when we didn’t have the correct one in stock, and shove it in there anyway.

We are supposed to have the lower bay tech show us that the drain plug and oil filter are tight. Then, we run the vehicle for about 15 seconds to be sure all bolts and gaskets are tight, sealed, and holding. The CSR/manager is supposed to come over and check that the plug and oil filter are tight for a second and final time (it usually never happens). Then, they check under the hood to make sure all caps are tight and all sticks are down. I don’t think tapping on a cap or just saying "you're good" counts as checking if they are tight. Finally, we verify oil level with customer. The CSR is supposed to cash them out. Once again, it was my duty when I wasn’t even trained on it. So, I made sure to note every car that I was CSR for that I was trained to be. Honestly, you're only lucky to get a good and complete service and oil change if corporate is there, or if you don’t go there at all.

I went in for an oil change; four mechanics came over to my car. They were not busy and I requested an oil change, and they did change my oil very, very, quickly. I then asked that they tighten everything because I do a lot of highway driving. They seemed not to care with what I was saying and laughed. Later that day, I was driving up Route 1. When I accelerated, I heard a pop and then a loud hum. The car started to shake and I had no control. I managed to get off the highway just as my car died.

I looked under my hood to find the hose leading to my engine had come off because the clamp was not properly tighten on at Valvoline. I called the North Reading store to ask for assistance. The manager told the young girl working there that he was too busy to talk to me. My mother happens to have AAA and they came and fixed my car. On 8/11/11, I took my car in for an oil change at the Valvoline store located at 850 Oak Road, Lawrenceville GA 30044. I have taken my cars there before so I was familiar with the services they have performed in the past. I did arrive 5 minutes before closing, but they took me so I did not think that the service I received should have suffered. I was wrong!

Unusually, a light check happened; that did not. Fluids checked; that did not. Tires checked; not happening (I have a pressure sensor on my car and it still tells me one tire was low). BUT, they did inform me that I needed a new air filter. I said OK. I watched the technician, and I use the term loosely struggle to get the filter into the car. Miraculously, after he bent over out of sight and did something, the filter fit perfectly. I thought that was strange. They whisked me out the door after taking my 85 dollars and I knew something was not right. I popped the hood and what do you know, my old filter was back in the car. I pounded on the window and they opened up the door and I explained what I found. The new filter was in the trash. They again tried to install it to find it was the wrong filter. NICE!

I guess they think we are all stupid! The next morning, I called the manager. I got him on the phone and he immediately explained he was too busy to talk and would call me back. He did and his remedy was that I could come back in and they would do the proper service and a free oil change. Anyone wants the coupon he is sending me (if I get it)? Because I would not trust those ** to take out my trash let alone work on my car!

I left my job back in February to take care of my mother. Her health got really bad. She needed 24-hour care so I quit VIOC to take care of mom.

A month ago I reapplied for a position back with VIOC. I spoke to a couple of my ex-coworkers. They stated since I have experience working for them, there shouldn't be any problems coming back. For two weeks, I received no call back from the General Manager about a job. I saw him a week later with the owner of the franchise. He asked how my mother was and I told him she was in a skilled nursing facility. He then stated he had no job openings for me. I'm curious because if there really are no job openings, then why are they still advertising at the stores and at SnagAJob.com? I would love to have my job back.

I had an oil change performed on my 2007 Toyota Tundra on 06/03/2011. The mechanic broke my hood release inside the cab by apparently pulling the release too hard. The following morning, I towed my bass boat 100 miles for a day of fishing. At the end of the day, there was an oil puddle under the truck. Further inspection revealed my undercarriage to be coated with oil. I checked the dip-stick and it's 1/2 quart low. I left the lake, watched the oil pressure gauge on the return trip home and drove straight to EZ-Lube to talk to the manager and get resolution. He wanted to put the truck in the service bay, boat and all. I thought it better to park the boat and while disconnecting it from the trailer hitch, I discovered the boat and trailer were now covered with oil, as well.

It turns out the mechanic did not set the oil filter correctly and the gasket was sticking out the side causing it to leak. The manager apologized for the inconvenience and put a young fellow to work on cleaning the boat and trailer while other service technicians worked on the problem on the truck. They did a marginally acceptable job cleaning my boat and trailer but I'll still have to spend several extra hours on it myself. As for the truck undercarriage, they did what they could to wipe down the most visible oil but it will require a full undercarriage steam cleaning and degrease by a professional detailer before it will be completely oil free. I will say the manager tried to make everything right and he refunded my money on the spot but I still have a broken hood latch and a lot of oil residue that will take additional time and expense to get corrected.

He ran computer tests on my car to find a code for the problem and found that there were no codes available. He said that he then thoroughly checked my car and the only problem he could see that could cause my engine to have trouble starting was that I had a very dirty air filter; that the throttle body needed to be cleaned. The computer testing was $98.00 and the cleaning was $58.80. I ended up walking out of there paying $163.87. Ever since, my car has been starting and running as smoothly as ever.

I have spoken with the manager at EZ Lube named Michael **, who proceeded to tell me that there was nothing he could do for me other than to file a complaint, which I am doing. The mechanic who worked on my car was named Manny **. As a longstanding customer of EZ Lube (as well as several other members of my family), I feel that I was completely taken advantage of at this location. I feel that as a loyal customer, I should be offered more than an "I'm sorry" by the manager. It was clear that my air filter did need to be cleaned and that Chris ** and Manny ** did not use skilled judgment while tending to my vehicle. I feel completely betrayed and no longer feel that I can trust the employees that work at EZ Lube. I will no longer be using their services because of this matter.

I went in for a state inspection. They found both rear brake lights were out, and I told them to fix it. It cost $6.99 per light. Two guys were working on it. One on each side. Both of them had trouble getting the rear light assembly off, and both started using metal screwdrivers, to try and pry the housing off. The first guy figured out it was not prying that was required, it was moving the housing inward. The second guy couldn't figure this out, even when I asked the first guy what he did. The second guy continues to pry, and I told him not to damage my car. I am closely watching all of this. When they are finished I examined both light assemblies, and the car paint is showing stress on the left side, and the plastic assembly is showing deformation on the right side.

I asked the first guy if he did this damage on the left side, and he said no. I didn't directly observe him prying, so I let it go. Then I go to the second guy and ask him if he did the damage to the plastic housing. He didn't say yes or no. I told him I watched him pry with a metal screwdriver, and I was sure this had caused the damage. He didn't say anything. When I said I didn't want to pay the cost to replace the bulbs, he said I would have to talk to the manager, which was a third guy. Before I can talk to the manager, the first guy comes over, and says I can't prove anything, and if I want any refund, it will have to go through the regional manager, and that sometimes, you have to pry the light assemblies off, which is **.

The manager came over and I repeated my request for the no charge of the bulb replacement, and after making a bunch of excuses, he gives it to me. So, I wasn't charged for the replacement, but I still have a damaged SUV, and I don't feel I can go back there, because all three of the guys were obviously mad at me. No longer will I take my car there. I spent a lot of money for my car, to be worked on by a bunch of very young men, who don't really care, and are under no real management. The right rear light housing has several deformations in it. The car body paint near the left rear light housing has several stress marks. They just lost a customer.

We always got our oil changed, at either this one, or the Fourth Street one in the same city, and paid for the full treatment. It turned out, they either, did not change the oil, or left a dirty filter on, and did not lube the parts they were paid to lube. This caused a blown engine, and both sides in the front end broke (either tie rods or ball joints), and they were both dry as a bone. This place caused over $5,000 in damages to our truck.

The guy who I do not know his name-showed me the oil stick to show that the oil had been topped off-I did appreciate that. I left and drove straight home which is about 7 miles. I did not notice any smell or anything at that time. My wife had to make a trip to Memphis the next day which is a min of 6 hours round trip.

When she got to Memphis, she noticed an oil smell, so she pulled into a place to get the oil checked out and once the service man raised the hood, there was oil all over the motor. Even on the insulation under the hood. The service man thought something bad had happened to the car as he investigated it. He found the oil cap laying on top of the motor. This could have caused major damage as in an oil pump. I feel that Valvoline should pay for having my motor cleaned!

I went to get an oil change. They had a special on free a/c check. So they checked the a/c (after oil change). They said I only had 25% of freon in the system. The female service person said, if the a/c was to be used, the compressor could go bad! So I told them to do what they had to so the a/c would work. They said they installed the freon to fill the system. I was told that the a/c was blowing very cool and I was "good to go". So I paid the bill and went to leave, I turned on the a/c (as I was leaving the bay). The air that was coming out the vent was blowing warm (not cool like they said less than ten minutes prior!). I went back inside to tell them it was not blowing cool/cold at all! They continued to check out.

Then the tech came in the waiting room and said that the compressor was bad! This was after I paid $120.00 and was told everything was "good to go". The compressor was working fine, then it was not! I don't understand (but I was told by a mechanic that it seemed they overfilled the system, which would cause the compressor to go bad)! The manager said he would have to remove the freon from my system, so I could get my money back for the charge of them filling my a/c. They said nothing about a bad compressor or even the possibility!

There's something terribly suspicious about this EZ Lube station. I brought my 2003 Suzuki Aerio in for an oil change in October 2010. It was pretty cheap at $26. However, the guy was really persistent in trying to get me to buy other services. (Batteries, transmission oil change, etc.) But that doesn't put me off. I just say no.But the big thing is I believe they have done something to my car. Deliberate? I don't know. I can't prove a darn thing.

My headlight went out. My cabin light went out. There are strange noises in the back of the car. None of these things were there before. I believe they have done something to my electrical system because when I looked at the head lamps, the boot and the inside appeared as if they had been shorted out. There were burn marks at the juncture of the lamp to socket. Could they have overloaded my electrical system somehow? Could that overload caused some of my bulb problems? I can't prove anything. Can anyone hold these people accountable?

My headlamps are finally functional after I played with them. But I'm going to need a new harness for the headlights. It's terribly dangerous and against the law to drive with just one set on.

Got my oil changed like I normally do. Instead of guys it was girls and I thought that was pretty cool. They found everything wrong: air filter which needed changed, said it needed radiator flush, need new oil filter (which I thought came with oil change), my windshield wiper was coming apart.

So thinking to myself I just had my car in about 3 months ago where all was taken care of except oil. So I knew I didn't need that. But I thought ok on the wipers. Well, when you have wipers that cost as much as Valvoline charges, the right thing would be to inform the customer before he gets the shock of his/her life. My bill was $101.00: $40.00 for the wipers, $20 a piece for ordinary wipers. Well, they couldn't take them off and put on my others because they bent them in throwing them away.

$40.00 is very high for 2 wipers, highway robbery. I think it stinks. That is the way you gouge good customers. I was dealing with someone named John, playing phone tag with him at a number in GA and naturally couldn't connect with him. This is **.

I will never go back. What a way to rip-off good customers. Most places will say, “Ma’am, these are $20 a piece. Are you sure you want to replace them both when it’s just the one?” Hell no, not one breath of air. I didn't see them empty the old oil out either. Usually someone is in the hole, never saw that. I had the rest of my car checked two weeks later because someone brought it to my attention that they had problems up there, and my oil was filthy. So now I think they didn't change it either. I think the two gals and their manager Robin ** had a hay day with the customers that day.

I told them that I had a spare oil filter to use, so they subtracted $2.00 and took off an additional 10% when I said their cost for this service is 3 times what I normally pay. No other service options were offered.

I asked how much oil my car would take and their data showed 3.7 quarts. While waiting for completion, I looked at the invoice and noticed that "up to 5 quarts" were charged to me even though I would need less than 4 quarts. When work was finished, I questioned this practice and wanted to speak to the Manager. He stated that up to 5 quarts were included in cost, so I demanded that if I'm paying for 5 quarts, I want 5 quarts. He tried to dance around the "included" portion but since other customers were listening he said, "I'll put the 5th quart container on your front seat."

Assuming that they actually added 3.7 quarts, my dipstick should be near full or at the top end of the dipstick. I checked it before driving away and found it at about the half way point or 2 quarts! I didn't have another conversation with the Manager over this issue but I suspect that most customers are being scammed in three ways. 1. Billing for outrageous costs for the service ( up to 3 times). 2. Customers not checking paperwork for the number of quarts billed and not asking how much oil is needed for make / model.3. Customers are being shorted on quarts actually added to their vehicle.

I purchased this vehicle in December of 2007; it is a certified pre owned 2007 Toyota Corolla. When I arrived at Valvoline, there were no lines. I was able to get right in. The technician Shawn informed me after spending 90 minutes inspecting my vehicle that the Serpentine belt had cracks in it and needed to be replaced to pass inspection. They wanted to charge me $95 for this in order to pass. Knowing that my vehicle was very new with only 28,000 miles on it, I declined and decided to take it to a more reputable establishment that my father has used for many years.

On May 5, 2010, I took my vehicle into this establishment in Manchester, NH to get my inspection. During the inspection, the technician came out to ask me if I had had this done at another location. I explained to him what happened at Valvoline. He told me they reported to the state that my vehicle had 78,000 miles on it, 50,000 more than it has, and had a power steering leak. The technician at my father's mechanic informed there was no evidence of a power steering leak whatsoever. I explained to him about the serpentine belt being the reasoning Valvoline gave me for the failure. He went and inspected the belt and told me there were no cracks in the belt. My vehicle passed inspection in less than 30 minutes, and they were very busy.

On Friday, March 26, 2010, I went in for the $34.99 oil change and opted to take the special $39.99 oil change which included a tire rotation for $5.00 more (normally $19.99 for a tire rotation). Nothing more. I was told that the wait would be 45 minutes to an hour, but I decided to wait since my maintenance light had come on that day on the dashboard. After the oil had been changed, I was called outside by a service man named Chris. He said that the air filters were the original ones from the factory and he showed me two small dirty filters and a larger one that looked clean to me, but he said that they were no good. He mentioned that the small ones were "pricey" but said he could give me a discount on them. I asked how much the large one was and he said about $20.00 and the smaller "pricey" ones were about $59.00.

Both quotes by him were wrong. I assume the discount was the minus $5.00. I never signed anything outside to authorize him to do the work. He then showed me a container that had some kind of light-colored fluid in it and started talking about transmission fluid. Since they were supposed to check the fluids, I assumed that he meant that he was going to add some more to this container even though it looked pretty full to me. He never mentioned a price on this or asked me if I wanted anything done regarding the transmission fluid. He rattled something off about 60,00 miles and that I had 70,00 miles on the car and what the manufacturer recommended. I just said "oh" and did not agree to do anything regarding this. I would have just had my own mechanic do it or see what he said about it.

When I was at the desk getting ready to leave, the receptionist Beverly went out and got the paper and asked me to sign it at the desk. Then I saw the total amount and questioned the charges. She went outside and got Mike **, the manager. She told the manager that he (Chris) had forgotten to have me sign the work order or consent form - whatever they call it. So she had me sign it at the desk after the fact. He told me to tell him everything that had happened and I did. The copy that I have with me is unsigned. The -$14.99 was the amount reduced for the tire rotation because of the "special". The manager, Mike **, said because Chris talked too fast ("because he was from New York", his quote) and didn't explain the transmission fluid or the price of $49.99, he would give me an additional 10% off "to help me out" which is what the -$16.50 is.

If I would have known that the price of the transmission fluid was $49.99, I would not have agreed to it. Chris mentioned something about it should have been changed at 60,000 miles and the car had 70,443 miles on it. But he never mentioned the cost or asked if I wanted it done. I just thought that he added some more fluid to it. I still don't know what the $20.00 "special fluid upcharge" is. He was very unclear, talked too quickly and was hard to understand. The manager said that he was going to go outside and tell Chris to talk slower. I told him to wait until I was gone but he said no, that he was going to do it now. I was in shock when I saw the bill and couldn't understand how a $39.99 charge ended up being $200.00! I normally only go to my mechanic and he just does the oil change. The reason I went to EZ Lube was because my "maintenance needed" light had come on earlier in the day and my mechanic couldn't change my oil until the next day because they had a lot of work in the shop. I had to use my car later in the day and didn't want to drive without having it checked.

I told Chris (the service man) that the maintenance required light had just come on that day. He was showing me the dirty air filters and I asked him if the air filters might have caused it to come on. He said that he didn't know, that it was probably the oil level. I told him that the little oil can symbol didn't come on. He said that he didn't know if the car was low on oil but he could ask someone. I asked him if the maintenance light would still be on when I got the car back and he said "No, I guarantee you it won't be on". When I checked the oil level myself before I went to EZ Lube, it wasn't low but I knew that I was due to get the oil changed. When I left the store, Mike ** said "think of it this way, you got your transmission fluid changed and your oil changed. You're all set". Then Beverly slapped a sticker on the windshield that says next change due on June 26, 2010. I will never go there again!

While I was in the waiting room, an older couple was called outside regarding their air filters. A few minutes later, a middle aged man was called out to be told of "something that he needed" done. He said "not again! You guys do this every time I come in here!". The salesmen just kind of smiled. Sure enough, I was the next one to be called outside! I felt scammed by a bunch of fast talkers. I was really upset by the charge. I had to split the charge between my debit car and my credit card to pay for it. I called my daughter who works at a law firm and she was furious with what had happened. My son-in-law had me quote everything on the invoice and they both called EZ Lube the next morning. She said that she got Mike to agree to give me a free oil change since he would not refund any of the money. I was told to bring the receipt up the store and he would issue the certificate. A real certificate was not even issued. It was something that Chris scribbled on a business card of Mike **. No signature or explanation.

I feel embarrassed, insulted and used by the people at this EZ Lube. Not to mention, I have an extra $155.00 to pay off besides the $40.00 for the oil change. I truly feel taken advantage of. Down at the bottom of the charge statement, original estimate amount $219.95. Final estimate amount $219.95. My original estimate that I signed when I first came in and handed the guy my car key was $39.99. This is their statement: “Regular replacement of Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF), according to your manufacturer's recommended schedule, will help extend the life of the transmission, prevent rough shifting, accelerated wear and even transmission failure." Problem is that it is not my manufacturer’s recommended schedule. My Ford Edge doesn't require this until 150,000 miles vs. what they told me it should be done at 30,000 for $119. I would have gotten it done but they couldn't get their horse down the neck. Economically it is unnecessary needed work. I imagine that I am not the only one being taken advantage of.

I took my car for oil change before heading out on a long weekend. After driving hundreds of miles I pulled into a gas station for directions and had them check oil to find out I was 3 quarts low on oil! That had never happened before and the car had been in perfect condition. The engine hasn't been the same since and I am now looking at having to buy a new car! Every time I had gone to EZ Lube prior they always tried to sell me on the more expensive oil and repairs and I am convinced they let me drive out of their facility on almost no oil in my car on purpose. They are the worst crooks I've ever heard of! Of course I never went back and learned a lesson the hard way! I will only be taking any car I own in the future to the dealer! I have to buy a new car!

I took our 2005 Tacoma truck for just an oil change. First, the sales person tried to sell me an upgrade to synthetic oil twice the price. I said no, thank you. Then he tried to tell me that my battery needed to be replaced. I said no, then called me back out to show me my hood filter needed to be replaced, in which I explained that I just had the 36K mile service done 4000 miles ago, and all fluids, filters, etc. had been checked, drained and replaced. I did not need anything but an oil change.

I sat back down for a few more minutes and he called me back out to show me that I had "sludge" in my oil in which I immediately asked the guy who drained my oil if it looked sludgy. He said no, just regular dirty oil. The oil had been changed just 4000 miles prior and the truck only has 40K miles on it! The sales person then showed me some very strange looking goop that he said he found on the cap of the oil reservoir (where they put the oil in). I smelled this and it smelled like gasoline.

I honestly believe that the guy was irritated that I did not purchase anything else and he placed this goop on the inside of the cap to scare me and intimidate me. I am 48 years old and have owned over 20 cars in my life and have never seen anything like this goop except for in the jars. These ripoff joints keep near the counter to show you when fluids need to be replaced. I honestly think he placed this stuff to scare me, telling me that this stuff was all inside my engine etc. I will never ever go back to this place again but instead take my Toyota back to the dealer for simple maintenance.

On November 17, 2009 at 2:03PM, I went to have my oil changed before going on the holiday. 70 miles outside of Phoenix, AZ, my car broke down in the middle of the desert. The tow truck driver told me that my car didn't have an oil cap. I assured him that there must be an oil cap, because 5 hours earlier, I had my oil changed by EZ Lube. He advised me that the oil cap must have come off during my drive. He also advised me that my engine was blown due to the oil having run out.

I called EZ Lube and explained to them that my car broke down and that they were negligent in putting the oil cap on securely. EZ Lube's District Manager Hugo ** said they needed to see the car before they could say that it was their fault that my car broke down. I rented a tow dolly and hitched it to the truck of my friends from AZ, who were kind enough to tow me back to CA where we dropped my car off at the EZ Lube location that had performed the oil change.

One week later, they called me and said that they had a mechanic install an engine, and my car was ready to be picked up late on a Monday night after they already closed. So I was not able to talk to anyone there to tell them that the car didn't sound right. To make matters worse, they broke my instrument panel. Mind you, I have had my Honda CRX for 19 years, had the oil changed regularly, and never had any major problems other than having had to put in a new air conditioning after 17 years and a new radiator after 15 years.

This was a most reliable vehicle with extent gas mileage. And the interior didn't have so much as a scratch on it. Nothing was broken, and the seats aren't all torn, because I have kept them covered since the day my husband bought this car for me.

I called the Hugo ** and explained to him that the car idle goes up and down and that the engine sounded really loud and that the instrument panel is broken and my radio had been taken out. I wanted to know what the purpose was for having taken out my radio and was told my Mr. Hugo that he wasn't aware of these things and didn't have an answer for me.

I asked him how many miles this engine had and was told about 170 thousand and was told to take it back to the mechanic, which I did. The mechanic was rude and discourteous and brushed me off, telling me I didn't know what I was talking about and to shut up.

I took my car back several times over and over again, and my car still doesn't run the way it used to run. The mechanic made matters worse when he tried to repair the cracks in the instrument panel. He totally broke off the face plate that they cracked. He put on a metal to hold the instrument panel in place and said, "I know it doesn't look pretty, but that is all I could do for you."

The controls for the heating/air conditioning are misaligned now, and the air conditioner button was stuck and I couldn't use it. I took the car back, and the mechanic took off the little plastic cover for the air conditioner button. He also informed me that I was 2 quarts low on oil. I asked him how this could be, and he said he didn't know.

I again called Mr. Hugo and explained that the car smelled like oil was dripping on the manifold. I also told him that I wouldn't go back to Mike, the mechanic, because it is obvious that he wasn't interested in doing the job right. I informed Mr. Hugo that I would take my car to PepBoys, which I did today. PepBoys informed me that the timing belt is leaking and needs to be replaced, the gasket camshaft seal needs to be replaced, the gasket oil pan is leaking and needs to be replaced, the crankshaft seal is leaking and needs to be replaced, the rear-bearing seal is leaking and needs to be replaced.

Should the mechanic that installed the engine not have noticed these things when he informed me that I was low on oil? I should say yes. But I'm only a woman and don't know much about cars, and I am a 60-year-old widow. And I don't know how to get my car back the way it was. Please advise me. I will never go back to have an oil change done by EZ Lube and will never recommend them.

I went in for an oil change. I was told I needed to replace the interior air filter that sits behind the glove box. Once it was replaced and I turned the blower on, the car was humming and had a slight rattle. I was told that was because it was a new filter and it needed to be broken in. I asked them to put the old filter back in. I wanted to see if the hum went away. That did not fix the problem. Then I was told it was possible that the old filter had twigs or nut shells on it and they may have gotten into the fan. I was told not to worry. I needed to drive the car for a while. They made no offer to fix the fan. I did worry. While sitting there, I called Toyota. I was told by Toyota that if the filter is not removed carefully, the twigs and nuts can get pushed into the heater blower.

The twigs and nuts would need to be removed before the hum or rattle would go away. At his point, I told Valvoline they needed to pay for it be fixed. Then they offered to fix it. To make matters worse, I checked my tire pressure when I got home. It was not at 32 as they had indicated on my receipt. All four tires were below 30. So off I go to a gas station to fix the tire pressure. I will go to Toyota and pay to have the hum fixed before I will ever let Valvoline touch one of my cars again.

My girlfriend went to EZ Lube about 3 months ago, after I advised her not to. While she was there, I arrived about 10 minutes later. I got there, and they were in the middle of trying to rip her off. They were saying since she went over a few hundred miles on her oil change, that they needed to flush the engine, and that it was going to be another 60 or 70. I told them right away to stop ripping people off, and that she didn't need it, and they went about the oil change, and towards the end, like every other person that goes in there, we were advised to change the cabin air filter, and the coolant needed to be changed.

We said no. We paid and then left. Then on her next oil change, we took it to Sears automotive (they have a lot better customer service, and never try to sell me things I don't need). After the oil change, we were told that whoever did our oil change last, striped the treads on the drain plug, so we went back to EZ Lube, and they said that it couldn't have been them, but they offered to change the plug for free on the next oil change. I'm not going to take it to EZ Lube ever again, even to fix the plug.

On Feb. 4, 2010, I went to your EZ Lube location at 13421 Washington Blvd in Marina Del Rey, CA and was outraged by the service I received (or should I say lack of service). I arrived at the location at 12:00 pm exactly to drop my car off for an oil change. Contrary to the advertised "We Get You In and Out in 30 Minutes or Less," I was told it would take 45 minutes, because they were busy. Although unhappy, I consented and waited, watching the monitors in the waiting area. But even at 12:50 pm, no one had even begun to work on my car. I informed the receptionist that the my car should have been ready 5 minutes ago. She then left the desk and pulled my car into the service area and notified me that someone would begin working on my car (However I received no apology for the delay).

The manager then came out and said that he would have the car ready in 15 minutes, so I agreed to wait. 10 minutes later the same manager returned, and informed me that they did not have the tool necessary to unscrew the lid, and therefore they were unable to change the oil. After being forced to wait an hour, I am informed that they can't even change the oil. I drive a 2006 Lexus IS350, a very, very commonly driven car. In addition to that, I had previously had my car serviced at this same EZ Lube location, and there were no problems with "unscrewing the lid." And if indeed they did not have the tool, shouldn't they have informed me when I initially arrived at the location, rather than inform me an hour later?

I communicated my frustration, being forced to waste an hour out of my busy day, and requested for at least a complimentary oil change for the next time I come. The manager said he couldn't do that because it wasn't "his fault" he didn't have the tool, and said "but I won't charge you for today." I could not even believe he had the audacity to tell me that he wasn't going to charge me, when he did absolutely nothing but rather stole an hour of my time! This is absolutely the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I am never going to another EZ Lube ever again, and I will make sure that my boyfriend, coworkers, and my friends and family also never go to EZ Lube.

He stated it would be a while, to have a seat in the lobby. It was approx. 3:30 pm.

After waiting two hours, I was told the vehicle would be ready shortly, that he had to send it down the street to bleed the brakes. I thought that was strange but I continued to wait for my vehicle. I was told to pay for the repairs before he started to work on it because he needed to go to the auto shop to purchase the brake lines needed for my car. I gave it to him and demanded a receipt.

After waiting, I observed an individual driving the vehicle into the driveway of the Valvoline and the man told Rob. "I can't fix this car!" I then asked Rob. "What's going on?" He stated, "Don't worry! I have a friend down the street; he can fix it. I'm never going to send him anymore business. He had your car for hours and he's just now reporting he can't fix it." Rob then drives my car to V.I.P. Express Care Auto Center, Southfield Road, Ecorse, MI 48229.

They begin to speak in Arabic and I'm totally confused. They finally say we can fix this problem; however, you'll have to leave it overnight. My car was returned to me the next day Dec 31, 2009 approx. 3:00 pm. I had the car inspected and was told there was no two brake line replacement, only 1 brake line and the back brake lines remain rusty. I visit the V.I.P. Express Care Auto Center and told them I knew the job was not completed. Their response was that Rob only paid the $100 and told them what to do and they did more than instructed. They felt bad but had to comply with Rob's orders. They stated if I wanted the job completed properly I would have to give them $200 additional. If not, I could receive $100 credit. I was deceived by believing my vehicle was being repaired, sitting in a waiting room while all along my car was sent out for repairs by several folks without my consent.

First, they tried to sell me the cabin filter and transmission flush. They didn't even check that my car doesn't require a flush but only transmission fluid change. They claimed they could see and smell that the transmission fluid was old. It looked pretty clean to me and didn't smell like anything. It was changed about 15,000 miles ago. The cabin filter had a bee in it so they tried to make a big deal out of it. "This is what you breathe", they said. No, this is what the filter caught. What I breathe is not on that filter. It didn't look particularly dirty at all.

In the end, they forgot to install the clip that holds the cabin filter. They just left it on my dashboard. When I was braking at the traffic light, it came flying down towards me. I almost hit the car in front of me. I had to return. Then I watched in awe as they were trying to find the person who worked on my car. Apparently no one did. Some other guy eventually installed the clip. No one was apologetic about this incident. It was like business as usual. My advice is take your car somewhere else.

That being said, I am (or try ro be) careful when dealing with them. This last visit has left me wondering if I'll ever return.
Near the end of my oil change the manager approached me (as usual) with the air filter in hand. I am used to this by now and knew that I did not really need one as it had been replaced within 5,000 miles or so. But this time he also had a `cabin filter' in hand. I knew the car had a cabin filter, but was unsure exactly how to access it and how often to change it. I agreed that it looked dirty and inquired as to hwow much for a replacement. When I was told $69.95 I was shocked at such an amount for a relatively small simple looking filter. I asked why so much and was told `these are expensive due to the fine filtration level they provide' I told that that may be, but I really couldn't afford that amount at this time. He gave me a very concerned look and said he worried that leaving it in could introduce bad air in the cabin with possible health concerns. He offered a $10 reduction to $59.95. After a moment of worried thought I agreed to the $59.95. The car was ready in less than 5 minutes and my oil change went from about $25 to $95. When I returned home I looked up how to replace the air filter on my car and found that it was easily accessible by opening the glove compartment and pushing a release lever. A less than 5 minute procedure. I then went online to search the cost of the cabin filter and found them for $9.40 to 25.95(dealer price), with the majority being in the $14 range.

Since they said I can get a fuel injector treatment for $10 and I was on my way to get my car smogged, I figured I'd go ahead with that. I also asked them to make sure the tires were properly inflated. They perform the service and now tell me the oil change at $19.99 is only for 5 quarts of oil, and my car took more and that costs $5.99/quart extra -- false advertising #2. I got them to back off of this. They tell me my car need front brakes. Attempted fraud #1 -- I had my mechanic look at them and he says that is complete BS. They tell me my car needs a transmission flush. Attempted fraud #2. My car is manual and you don't do transmission flushes on manual transmissions. Attempted rip-off. So my bill comes to over $64 for a $19.99 oil change and a $10 fuel injector treatment. They say, "oh sorry, I made a mistake". Before I leave I ask if they inflated my tires..."oh sorry we forgot, we will get right on that".

I brought my car in for an oil change on 8/23/09. During this visit, they told me that I was due for a cooling system flush, and that I should have it done. And so I let them do it. It took about four hours for them to do it but I thought it was over with but the problem just started. On my way home, my car overheated and I took it back to them but I barely made it. There they told me that it might have some air pockets, so they tried to get the air out by doing all kinds of things and they did that for about 2-3 hours and they also told me that my car had a reverse air cooling system. When they did the flushing, they might have damaged the thermostat, so they changed it with an off the market thermostat and the problem appeared to be okay. I was told to bring it back if it doesn't get any better, so I went home.

The next day, Monday, 8/24, I drove it to work without problem, approximately 30 miles back and forth. But on my way home, the temp gauge was almost all the way up to the H level and I could hear some noise coming from the engine but it was too late to bring it back to the shop. So I took it back the next day, Tuesday. Tuesday, they looked at it, did all kind of things, and I was at this shop for almost three hours. I was told that they didn't get all the air out in the beginning and that's why it overheated again but I was told that it was going to be okay and so I went home. The next day, Wednesday, I took it to work again without any problem but on my way home, it overheated again. I took it back to the shop the next day and they kept it until Friday afternoon and God knows what they did to it while it was there for two days.

Late Friday afternoon, I got a call from one of the guys there. His name was Xavier, telling me that they have no idea what's going on and there was nothing they could do so they brought it over to one of their affiliate shops and it's been there ever since. Monday morning, I was told by them that they finally figured out what's wrong and it was the radiator. I was told that it would cost $250 to put a new one in but they refused to have it done and pay for it because they feel that it wasn't their fault. My car has been there just waiting for their approval to have a new radiator in. I'm so tired of all these runaround. I just want them to owe up to their responsibility. They obviously have done damage to my car and they are not willing to accept the blame.

I stated, "I wanted the $21.99 special which you're advertising." After a few minutes, they drove the car out and told me they did not have the oil filter.

When I paid for the oil change, I was not credited the $2.00 and was told that only one discount could be applied at one time. I lost $2.00. I would have been better off keeping my oil, letting them install the regular package, and paying the same price!

This is an addendum to my complaint filed 07/07/09. When I re-read my complaint, I didn't make it clear that the damage occurring was to my right front rim which was one of my "good" rims & not one of my previously damaged rims of which I had two, on the left front & rear of my vehicle. I was still able to operate this vehicle with the two prior cracked rims. I just had to have air pressure every 3 days or so. The damage to my right front rim that occurred at Valvoline on 6/15/09 was damaged to the degree that I was losing 20 lbs of pressure overnight. As I stated previously, I am still pursuing this & will add an addendum.

I use Valvoline on a regular basis on oil change, fluid check, etc. My complaint is a little different than those I have read. I have used Valvoline for years for my oil change needs. I had 2 cracked rims on my 2002 Olds Alero and I frequented Valvoline to add air pressure to my 2 ties on the left.

On 6/15/09, I went to the same Valvoline to obtain air pressure. They had, in the past, been accommodating to me and would do this free of charge. On this particular date, I went to their store to have them check my tire pressure and the technician directed me into one of the bays. On this day, I noticed the rails or lift that you drive onto was considerably higher than normal. I was concerned due to my vehicle sits low to the ground. I followed his direction anyway and my car literally fell off of the lift resulting in an impact. The technician asked me to back my vehicle out of the bay and looked under my car and assured me no damage. He said, “Your oil pan is fine,” etc.

I left thinking everything was ok only to later learn than the impact cracked the rim and I had a flat tire a few days later. They are denying any negligence and stating this never occurred at their store. I'm not letting this go. I've pursued. They are denying liability. But, you know what, they are not done with me. I asked them to turn this into their liability insurance carrier. They told me they are self insured. I asked this individual if they were a licensed insurance adjuster (of which they are not). I am a licensed insurance adjuster and that is the reason I inquired.

Therefore, I am writing the Department of Insurance for my state and making them aware of the circumstances. They are not qualified to make a determination on my claim as they are not "licensed". Okay, that is the key. And that is what needs to be addressed. The Dept. of Insurance will investigate. These people do not have liability ins. coverage and are making determinations of which they are not qualified to do.

I wanted to share this information with consumers. Get your Dept of Insurance in your state involved. They have departments for consumer affairs and complaints. That is what they are there for. Therefore, I will add an addendum to this once everything pans out.

But the next thing i know my 2005 Honda Accord, which has NEVER leaked oil, left oil spots on my garage floor. I took it back as soon as i saw this and the guy there told me that it was just "spillage" from the oil change. Ok, a couple days later i check my floor again, and it's still leaving spots. So after about a week from the original service i go in a third time and they tell me the same thing. I said ok again, and today, 05/20/2009 i decided to check under my car because it is still leaking. I saw that around the drain plug is where it is leaking from. I'm sure they didnt change the washer, or they cracked my oil pan.

When the girl (her name was Drue) took me back so Tiny could show me my air filter was dirty or needed to be replaced, my Chevrolet Tahoe engine compartment was covered in oil. Tiny said that it's no big deal. He washed it off but now my truck smokes and stinks like burned oil. I have oil spots on my driveway and also the surrounding parts in the engine. I have grease in my truck where the guy was standing to clean my windshield. There are boot marks and he was holding on to my handle on the inside of my truck. They don't even put anything on my light grey seat.

I go here and the store on Iowa St. in Riverside to do all three of my cars. I am a VIP but I still pay a lot of money to EZ Lube to get treated like this. A lot of playing around in that shop and yelling at each other. I took pictures of all the issues. My truck got messed up that day of 4-19-09 at 3:09pm and left at 4:23 pm. I pay a lot of money to keep my truck in good clean working condition and I am paying $30,000 for my truck for these employees to treat it like it's a Ford Pinto is not fair. Tiny never did say he was sorry. He said, "I'll take $10 off the air filter." My truck is a mess. I am sorry this happened at your store, EZ Lube. I do have pictures of my truck and the damage that was done.

I took my car to their shop for belts replacement. On the way back, on the freeway, the plate under the car was not put back properly; while scraping till I found a spot to stop, the plate got damaged. The guy from shop came and worked on it but could not place it back, so he took it and told me that I didn't need it anyways. Next day, I went back for the more important issue, the bad/loose belt replacement. When I asked the manager what he was going to do about the plate, he asked his employee, in front of me, whereabouts was the plate, the mechanic said he had put it in his truck and took it home!

He was asked to bring it to the shop, and I would go there the next day, so then, Manager Mike told me that his guys (two, I guess one who did the belt replacement and other took the plate, on the freeway) deny that it was their doing and that the plate was broken before which is a lie. They would have had to tell me about it when they worked on my car two days in a row (the first day, they changed oil; second day belt-replacement) and not let me go on the road! On my next follow-up call, the manager shared with me that his guys should both chip in for the cost of the plate, but they had said no! He added that he did not know who to believe.

After several days, again, I called Manager Mike for his decision on the plate. He still had not done anything, and grudgingly expressed that he would have to pay $200 out of his own pocket for cost of the plate and that I really wanted that to happen. Almost 3 weeks has gone, still he is not giving a date or plan of action.

On 3/20/09, I took my classic car to VIOC for an oil change, which includes topping off most fluids under the hood. Last week, I noticed blue smoke pouring from the tailpipe, so I decided to check my fluid levels. Upon checking the fluid levels, I found my oil level to be at least a quart over the recommended capacity. On top of that, my transmission fluid was not even touching the dipstick. I filled the trans with fluid myself (about drained completely), and this is the first I've noticed any significant loss of fluid from the trans. I don't think I have any damage from the lack of tranny fluid; however, overfilling my engine oil has my car smoking (blue smoke) and running rough. Several mechanics tell me that I may need to have valve seal service or a shot piston ring. I shouldn't need any service of this nature for the car has less than 59,000 miles on it. Not to mention, this smoke just began since my oil change (with at least 1 qt. too much). Oh yeah, the receipt reads that there was 5 quarts of oil added, and the oil dipstick clearly 4 qt. capacity.

I called up the store and they denied of course (thing cost me $15, not much but the principle). They say I must have lost it and they are not responsible for it. How could I have lost my drain plug and put a different one in and not know it? Second complaint, this is a two-parter. First part 2001 Nissan Sentra (wife’s car), it was winter and my wife need her oil change; she went in, they changed the oil, and they told her that the tranny fluid was black as coffee. I told her I’ll change the next weekend. I got it home and looked at it, and it was as red as it just came out of the bottle. Second complaint with the same car, the winter of 11/2008, I took the car in to get the oil change, and it was snowing like crazy.

They popped the hood and then I could see one of the so called service techs walk in from outside with arms full of food. The one that was working under the hood has seen the food and yanked the oil dipstick, and snapping it off and they said, “It was like that.” You could feel the car jerk when he did this. They said of course, “It’s not our fault.” So therefore, I will never go back to them, and I will tell everyone I know not to go to them crooks and cheats. Consequences: from them breaking off the dipstick, I had to take it to my friend and we had to pull the oil pan, 5 hours labor and a few cases of beer. I really hate these guys.

I had FS1 Full Service oil change on 3/26/09. I noticed an oil leak on the driveway where I park. After looking under the car and at the oil filter, I have determined that the oil leak is coming from the drain plug. I called Chris at EZ Lube and he said to bring the car in, it should be something simple they can fix right away. Chris pulled my car into a service bay right away and checked the drain plug. He told me it was a little loose, tightened it, topped off the oil and sent me on my way. I will monitor the oil level over the next week and check if the leak issue has been resolved. I hope this minor oversight does not reflect a bigger problem with service for EZ Lube.

I'm thankful Chris took care of the issue right away but I find it a bit perplexing that a drain plug could not be tightened correctly the first time. It should be the most important aspect of the entire service, next to the filter being properly installed. This experience serves as a reminder to check the work being performed on your vehicle during and after. Keep that receipt.

I have NEVER ordered the high mileage oil and told her so, and of course she insisted I did. I could not and do not understand how a supposed prior order of high mileage oil should cause Valvoline to assume that they should automatically charge me for the higher priced product and install it on subsequent visits. I am wondering why every other time I have been to Valvoline I was always asked whether or not I wanted the more expensive Max Life oil. Apparently it was convenient and potentially profitable to discern what my wishes were when it might have led to me choosing a more expensive product, but no choice was offered when I supposedly had in the notes for my vehicle that the more expensive option had been chosen in the past. Why did I get asked on every prior occasion what I preferred and the assumption was not made that I wanted the less expensive oil that should have been in the notes from all the times I ordered it before? Fortunately I paid attention and noticed the topside technician carrying the bottles of Max Life and setting them on the engine and told him I wanted the standard oil that I ALWAYS have gotten. I found it highly odd that I was being charged PRIOR to the oil actually being changed. This practice is careless at best and downright deceptive at worst. 1. The one I took on January 28, 2009 is a Ford Explorer that sat garaged for most of the past 7 months without leaving a drop of anything on the floor. After having the coolant system flushed and refilled, the rear differential serviced, the fuel filter changed, and the transmission serviced to the tune of just under $300, there is now a coolant leak. First estimate was $950 for radiator and intake replacement, but that was from Pep Boys whom Ive found to be unreliable. The car DID NOT leak AT ALL before they touched it. Taking it to my own mechanic, Mesa Center Auto, on Monday. 2. The second one, a Mercedes Turbo Deisel, had the full synthetic oil change, coolant flush and change, and transmission serviced to the tune of $330. They filled the coolant reservoir past the fill line, all the way to the top. Now the reservoir is cracked and the car is running hotter than it ran when it allegedly had old transmission fluid and old coolant. 3. The third car had a full synthetic oil change and had everything topped? off. It is also running hotter than normal, even though Mobil 1 allegedly runs cooler than regular oil, which it replaced. Jury still out on this one since today is a bit hotter than usual. I find it odd that at least two vehicles that had literally no leakage problems prior to service at EZ Lube developed problems almost immediately after service by them.

The only fluid added was WATER in my windshield cleaner reservoir. My oil level was 1/2 quart low, power steering fluid not topped off,and oil filter was loose. I suspect maybe a loose oil filter from my previous oil change was the culprit that cause mysevere trans leak As I got in my car to leave I noticed my plastic driver door handle was broken.I confronted the tech and he said he was the one who was in my car but had no idea what happened. He said the camera would prove it. It was probably 8-9 years ago. I took my Chevy Blazer to the then new Valvoline Instant Oil Change in Hermosa Beach since I was going skiing in the local mountains the next day. While driving off the mountain the next day I noticed a "thunking" sound from below the engine. I pulled into a auto mechanic since I was concerned that I may not make the 100 miles to home. The mechanic pointed out that the differential cap was missing.
I didn't know what the differential cap was, let alone remove it. I did recall that the Valvoline employee working on my car remarked how tired he was. Just as the frustrated EZ Lube customers experienced, the Valvoline manager denied responsibility. Valvoline's corporate office also denied responsibility. Fortunately, the Chevy dealer repaired the damage since the Blazer was still under warranty. As a former lawyer I was prepare to file a small claim action but did not need to. The legal doctrine upon which I would certainly have prevailed is res ipsa loquitur, which essentially means that the only explanation for the missing differential cap was the negligence of Valvoline Instant Oil Change.

I took two cars in on Friday, Dec. 26, 2008 to get an oil change. As usual when the oil change was complete on the 1st car they called me out and told me what I needed done. They showed me a 'clean' air filter and said it needed replacement. I denied request. They also want to do 3 or more other services to a tune of $300 to $400, which I also denied. Then I went home and got car #2. Once again, they wanted to do this & that, but I just got the oil change. When I left and went home I thought it was kind of a hard ride, but I thought it was just because the tires were properly inflated. The next day when I took the car out, it was really hard drive. I thought I had a front flat tire. A neighbor with an air compressor volunteered to inflate it. He told me that the hub cap was jammed and on crooked. (I didn't have any tire services done at EZ Lube or in the past anywhere) Then, the neighbor proceeded to check the other tires and the other front one was flat, too. These were completely flat on the ground. Your workers flattened the tires as they were fine when I went in, and after leaving, the car sat in the my garage till the next morning. After they were reinflated, they haven't gone flat again. Also, it says on my invoice that they inflated the tires to 32psi, the tires say to inflate to 42psi. Your workers need to read. I regularly have 4 minor children-birth to 10 in the car and if they were in the car and I lost control because of the flat tires, this could have been disasterous. Also, 9 out of 10 times after a oil change at your place, we have to go a week or two before all the excess oil underneath is finished dripping and burnt off. I feel because of what happened theis week I am do some compensation and apology. Also, my glove box has no lock and each time my car comes in, they take the liberty to take the glove box out to check the A/C filter without asking. This is my private property and they should at least ask before they enter the private areas. Please let me know what you are going to do about it.

I took an old beater that I bought in for some services because I had no idea when the last maintenace was done on it. $255 later (after supposed discounts which, let's not get into the incorrect math and what they pulled at the register! such as 10% discount reflecting closer to 7-8% though stating 10% on the computer screen...)

I supposedly had an oil change, radiator flush, transmission flush & Read differential flush. I was suspicious since I was in the shop for less than an hour (probably closer to 1/2 an hour honestly, but I didn't check the time I got there) Anyhow. I take the vehicle away for the weekend (why I purchased it) and it's still over heating.

Now it's got a new trick where it's also slipping out of gear that it hadn't been doing before... Wasn't that the point of the services I just got? I had a mechanic look at it for me the day after I got back. He said when did you have these services done. at most a week ago. There's no way they did it. They would have had to have removed this pan and done this and this and it obviously hasn't been touched. They need to remove them in order to drain them because you can't vaccum them out. He said the oil and the coolant looked newer, but they hadn't touched the transmission or the rear differential.

But wait! It gets better!! The phone numbers on the invoice and available online all don't work!!! So you can't even call corperate to complain!!! HELP!!!

I checked under the car and noticed I had an oil leak. I went back to EZ lube to have them take a look at the leak to see if they can undo or redo whatever was done to fix the problem.

They brought me over to look under my car to view the leak and said the leak was coming from an area of the car of which they did not service. I told them the last two times I brought my car in there was no oil leak. Both times they brought me over in front of my car to review the needs of my vehicle based on any issues my car had at the time or maintenance that was due for the mileage and age of my vehicle. Both times there was no oil leak. I was told to fill out a complaint for am and to contact the regional manager named Cesar.

I was never able to get a hold of Cesar so; I called the corporate office instead. I spoke with Elaine who also referred me to speak with Cesar but would not give out his contact number, instead taking my contact number. I never heard back from him and called the corporate office back again. I was told by Elaine that after reviewing my situation and speaking to the service location manager Eric, they determined that they did not cause the oil leak and that there was nothing that they could do.

I didnt mention at the time that they marked on the invoice that they filled the windshield wiper fluid but never actually filled the tank. I noticed it at the time I drove off but though that was not cover and didnt think anything else of it. After discovering the oil leak I went back over the invoice and noticed that after contacting them.

I feel like I paid $302.17 for EZ lube to seriously mess up my car. I had to take my car to the dealer to have it looked at and was told I needed the oil pan replaced that cost me $560.84. In total I paid $862.96 plus taking time off of work to drop off and pick up my car from the dealer. I can provide copies of the Mercedes repair invoice detailing the charge to repair my car. My original intent is to take this matter to a small claims court to recover the $862.96 would like to see what could be done first to resolve this matter. On the 27th of May 2008 I took my car one of valvoline's chain stores to have my cars oil changed at this time I specified only to have the oil changed. After my car was serviced I got maybe a block and a half and my emergency brake light came on and it was steady on. So I returned to the location where I had this serviced performed and they stated that they did not touch my brakes or my master cylinder where I had found brake fluid on. The onsite manager told me to have it taken to a brake specialist to address this issue so I took the car and washed the engines compartment to get rid of the loose fluid and I notice that I had leaking brake fluid from the upper left side of the cylinder top.

So I took it to the nearest brake service I could get to at this point my brakes are spongy and is no where near safe to drive. The mechanic (Eddie) that performed a brake inspection on my car and he right away told me it looks like someone put power steering fluid in my master cylinder and this is the location where you put in brake fluid. And that the rear cylinders in my rear brakes went bad due to this unnecessary action done but vlalvoline. These parts have been changed less than six months ago by the alignment shop which is now out of business. I also have the invoices where these parts were changed out.

So at this point foul play is in question. So at this point in time the car was in the shop for two days I missed a day of work due to not having a safe reliable vehicle and I have an unnecessary 444.73 bill not including the 55.71 oil change that caused this problem in the first place. The only repair that wasn't due to valvoline's neglect was I needed front brake lines. The lists of unnecessary repairs are a brake fluid flush, cleaned and adjusted the rear brakes, and a loose vacuum hose on the master cylinder booster.

On the 28th if this month I took the car back and asked to speak to the manger on site and one of the sales rep that worked on my car told me that she wasn't there so I asked for the regional managers work number and they declined me that option as a consumer. At this point they called the police on me as forth I wanted a simple contact number to address my issue to higher command. Not only was the employees at this shop was uncooperative they wouldn't own up to what they did to my car. I wrote the statement to be true and honest. I had suffered from a 400 plus bill not having a safe car to use. I also missed a day of work also to have to use a non safe car to take it to a mechanic to have the work corrected. so overall i had a financial loss

Don't trust Valvoline Instant Oil's word! They claim to top off fluids, check air pressure etc. They obviously appear to be doing their work but in fact, they are NOT! My case goes back a couple months ago. My car had NO antifreeze after we left the store. My engine light came on and my heater stopped working. I rarely drive my car so I am hoping it won't have any issues because of not having any antifreeze but it could have been avoided had they simply done their job. My Fiance had his oil changed a few weeks ago before a long trip we took and right after leaving Valvoline we had to put air in one tire and buy some wind shield washer fluid. This is upsetting to think, you put trust in them to actually just do their job and they can't even do that. I have been told many times by many people (mostly mechanics) that these places hire kids who just don't care and the end result is a huge headache, law suit, huge bills, etc. for many people. From now on my car will never be looked at by a stranger not even for a simple oil change, it just is NOT worth it and everyone should do the same!

Who knows what my damage is now? My engine light is still on. I suppose I will have to have to code cleared, which will cost and I just hope since the car seems okay that the engine isn't cracked but it did go unknown for a couple days and it happened to be below freezing temperatures. The stress I've gone through is HUGE!

On Friday, February 29, 2008, I went to the Thousand Oaks Valvoline Instant Oil Change to have a oil/lube service done on my 2004 Chevrolet Suburban. I was asked about regular oil or synthetic oil; I chose regular oil. I was then told about the transmission fluid, and about changing it; I declined. Then I was told about the fuel filter, and that's especially recommended on Suburbans; I declined. Then I was shown my air filter, which was dirty, and I agreed to this replacement for $20. Then I was asked about my wipers, I said yes they do need replacement. (I wasn't given a price on that). After the service was done, the guy under the hood asked me start the car. At about the same time I noticed my clock flashed to 12:00 and my CD changer was making noises. I was thinking that was very strange, then went to start my car. It only clicked and would not start. I said, "Well, you must have done something. He said, "No ma'am, I didn't do anything."

Then I felt very upset and very suspicious of the service here. The guy under the hood says I need to replace my battery. I said, I find it very coincidental I come in here for a oil/lube and need a battery! The guy said, "Oh ma'am, this has happened before, it's a 4 year old battery, and it needs to be replaced. He was telling me some story about batteries, like I am some idiot that just got her first car. I told him I have had several cars, and bought several batteries in my life, and I'm not buying it that my battery just died! I said I'd buy a new battery, but I will take my old one with me, and have it checked by my battery guy because I don't believe there is a problem with it. Then the two guys looked at each other, and another guy said, "Well, we cannot do that, we need the core". I said I'd bring it back, once I get my second opinion. Then another guy (presumably a manager) asked, "Jump the car?" I said, yes, perfect jump the car, and forget the wipers, I'm outta here!

So I went home, met my husband there, turned the car off, and he inspected the car. Then restarted the car, and it started without a problem. I called my battery guy, went there and he tested the battery. He confirmed that the battery is in good condition, with correct cranking amps; it does not need replacement. He also checked my alternator, and it is fine. Here it is Monday, March 03, 2008, and still my car starts, no battery problem, no clock resetting to 12:00. It's unfortunate that the staff at this Valvoline went this far to commit fraud to make more money! Fortunately, I didn't fall for it, but I do feel sorry for all the people who do! This is a very poor practice! I'm so upset about this incident; it was so unnecessary!!

I wasn't out any money, thank goodness, because I have enough sense I did not fall for it. But I cannot tell you how upsetting it was and how fired up I was to think they were trying to take advantage and make extra money. I said yes to the filter, I said yes to the wipers, but the greed pushed them to disconnect my battery to get me to buy a new one!

I have used Valvoline services in and on 2 seperate occasions had the following take place.

I had taken my Volvo S60 T5 in for and oil change, it was quick, and I left without incident (or so I thought). I had noticed and unusual noise from under the vehicle and brought the car in to my volvo dealer a week later. They told me the noise was road noise from the fact my noise/skid plate was missing. Seems that Valvoline took it off, and never put it back on when they changed my oil.

I confronted the valvoline manager who admitted they do remove the pans for better access and I really did not nned it. Needless to say I told them to I wanted it put back on. I was then told they threw it out. I went down in the pit to help locate it and saw SEVERAL MORE OF THESE PANELS FROM OTHER VEHICLES! I told the manger that it was NOT his right to remove parts (replacement was $80) without the car owners consent. They paid for the new panel and gave me an apology.

Second incident 2 Years later. I brought my girlfriend's Audi A4 in for service to another Valvoline dealership. I had the oil changed and left. I immediately noticed something was wrong. The car started smoking and lost power and died about a mile down the road. Smoke billowing from the hood. I opened the hood to find the hose that goes to the mass airflow in the intake off, and oil pouring out of my intake manifold. Seems the technician forgot to reattach the hose he removed to get at the filter. Also I found the dipstick was broken.

The manager was called, came out, said he agreed they screwed up and told me to drive the car back (after reattaching the hose) to the shop. They re-did the servicing (this time free), and I was on my way.

Unfortunately, the employee that performed the oil change did not tighten the oil filter properly. As a result the oil slowly drained from the vehicle resulting in major damage to the engine.

I have a 2002 Subaru forester. Prior to this experience, I have never had a problem with leaks anywhere with this vehicle. I had my car serviced in December. It was a routine oil change and cooling/antifreeze servicing. It took longer than usual on that particular day.,because there was a repair being made to a piece of equipment used. The next morning, I noticed a small amount of fluid on the garage floor. My husband thought it to be overflow. I continued to notice. It continued to be leaking something in very small amounts. I brought the car back to be looked at. I talked of my concern for the leak. I also said that the car seemed to drive much more unsmoothly than usual.

The service reps were very accommodating. They said that the air filter sits in a peculiar way and that it wasn't sitting properly since the oil change. It was leaking some antifreeze and power steering fluid, but they didn;'t know where it was coming from-. I brought the car to Lewis General Tires where a pressure check was done. The conclusion was that I need to have the rack and pinion replaced.($750-800).In the interim, I was told to just keep filling the power steering fluid. I ask and understand that one may be mutually exclusive of the other. However, it strikes me as amazing that the problems began immediately following my visit to Valvoline .

I took my car to a oil change at EZ Lube on 6/08/06. After a couple of miles of driving my car I got a oil light warning from my car, then my car stopped. There was a oil spill all under my car. I then pushed the car to a gasoline station. There I discovered that my oil filter was leaking.

I had to leave the car over night. The next morning on 6/9/06 I called the manager from Ez Lube and explained what happened. The manager steve aggreed to meet me at the site where the car was at.

He arrived with a case of oil and a new oil filter. When he went under the car to see the problem he said that it wasnt their fault. But I then replied you were the last to touch the car.

He didnt help at all, the manager said that my oil filter bracket was not on right.

Since he was no help I called a tow truck to hual my car to a machanic.

So the manager left the site, when the tow man arrived he took it to the machanic.
The machnic looked under the car and says that Ez Lube did not secure the oil filter coorectly. Which caused the car to have this spill, and now my car doesnt start.
I called corporate of Ez Lube and explained whats going on. THe said they'll send a inspector in no later then three days. So I waited and no inspector showed up.
Ez Lube needs to pay for my car's damage.

I delt with the manager of valvoline (Justin) for several dayes he made a call to Dodge (Gary) about the truck and other companys to check on the truck issues. On 11/5/05 @ approx. 3:20 pm brought car in for oil change. Approx 3:45 paid for service and received copy of receipt. When I got into my car and drove away, I noticed that a CD that I was listening to when I arrived at the store was not in the stereo. So, I pulled over and began to search my vehicle. I knew at that point that it had been taken out of the stereo when my car was being serviced.

I promptly returned to the store and asked to speak with the manager. I explained the situation to the manager (Dennis) and he said that he would handle it. So, he spoke with the two employees that worked on my car. One employee that was working underneath my car said he never entered the inside of the car. The other employee(Daniel) that had vacuumed the inside of my car stated seeing a CD in the visor and a couple CD's in the backseat. I knew at that point he was lying because I have never placed CD's in my visor.

To make a long story short, I filled out a customer incident/claim report and have not heard back from the company since. CD was never return. But that is just the beginning. When I was in the managers office filling out the complaint, I reviewed the receipt I received for the service and noticed in the service comments section: cabin part missing on arrival

I questioned this with the manager because my car was still pretty new and I've only taken it for service at the Dealership. So, Dennis called in (Albert) that typed up my service receipt and asked what was missing? Albert stated, one screw was missing.

I wanted to make sure for myself. So, when I opened my hood to verify one screw missing...I found that three screws were missing including the cover for the cabin air filter. When I showed them that the entire piece was missing, Albert said that he would go look for this part that was supposedly not there when I arrived.

Well, after about 20 minutes, Dennis returned to me and said that they found the part but it had been broken. He said that they would replace the part. He said that he should have it in a couple of days. Well, I called the store a couple of days later to check if they received the part and they said it was not there. I called everyday after that for the entire week and still not there. That was the last I called and expected them to contact me.

Till this day, I have not been contacted and that part has not been replaced yet. I've forgotten about this whole incident at that time because of my busy schedule with work and the holidays at that time. I only remembered now because of my next scheduled oil change reminder.

To this date, all I've received from EZ lube was a card for one free oil change that was given to me from Dennis on that day which I will probably never use.

Valvoline Max Life had advertisements in Kragen stating free oil change. Conditions: Must purchase 5 qts, proof-purchase, mail in tamper proof rings for check. After going on-line for form (after purchasing product) you find it is only for $7 which is nowhere near the cost of 5 quarts (the standard capacity of the average american auto). Nowhere on the advertisement did it say $7 rebate, only free oil change via rebate. I think they very much misreprested the facts if not breeched consumer fraud?

The economic consequences were very inconsequential as I'm sure Valvoline planned, but I feel is was very unethical of Valvoline to state free oil change and only provide a $7 rebate which covers no more than 2-quarts, but enforces each consumer to buy at least 5-quarts.

On the morning before Thanksgiving (the 23rd), I was on the freeway, on my way to work, and suddenly all the warning lights came on and within seconds I lost all engine power. I was lucky because traffic was light because of the holiday and I was able to pull over, safely to the right shoulder, coming from lane #4 or 3. I am sure if traffic conditions had been different (i.e., on a typical weekday morning), I could have been involved in an accident. Then I called Mazda roadside assistance and they towed me to the nearest Mazda dealership. At the end of the day, they informed me that the oil filter, which had been coming loose since September (my last oil change was 9/9), finally just fell off. They found it laying on the oil pan.

It has been determined by both John Hine Mazda AND the District Manager for VIOC that the oil filter was, in fact the incorrect size. VIOC is accepting responsibility, however the District Mgr. stated that it wasn't the technician's fault, since the published instructions/specs he was given were incorrect. So, in the meantime, VIOC is looking to resolve this matter with that publisher/software co. My engine, according to John Hine is blown and needs to be replaced at the cost of approx. $6,000. I've been renting a car since then, and it's costing me $250/week. My car is a 2004 Mazda 3 with 18,000+ miles.

Went to have my oil changed at the EZ Lube location in Burbank, California. They did not properly replace the new oil filter, which resulted in all the oil draining out of the engine. This resulted is all the bearings in the engine being destroyed. It now required the enging to be completely rebuilt or replaced

EZ Lube would not pay for the engine replacement or rebuilding, but did admit fault. The offered me a very low blue book on the Mercedes Benz, which was cheaper than an engine replacement. The car is still not repaired after 6 months, which has resulted in me renting a car for this period. Out of pocket expenses are now at $3,000, and the matter is being settled by a court action.

After I was told that I needed to change every other filter imaginable, (again, not per manufacturer specifications) I was told that I require a special oil filter (available for less that $5 at local auto stores and the internet) and was also charged an extra $1.85 oil in excess of 5 quarts (Which my car does not have the capacity for). I used a coupon offering a 14 Point Full Service Oil Change for $19.99 and although they gave me a $10 discount, I still had to pay $37.11 for AN OIL CHANGE! PLUS, they neglected to reset my oil life indicator! WHAT A RIP OFF THIS PLACE IS!

On 9/4/01 I brought my Mazda 626 into EZ Lube (Culver City) and spoke to the manager Edwin Lopez about receiving a full service oil change. I asked what the components he gave me the basic, which among them was a checking and topping off of all the vital fluids. When I asked to him to list them the first one mentioned was coolant, among window washer fluid and of course the basic oil for the oil change. My mechanic had already looked at the car as it was new and I knew that was all I needed. Mr. Lopez as many mechanics do tried to get me to get a host of other things that I certainly did not need that drove the price up to over $100 over what my intended spending budget for the oil change was. This I would not have minded so much if the basic service had been performed.

Coolant the first on the list of fluids to be replaced was NOT replaced. As a result on of my tubes from my heating system split. I gladly replaced this in hopes that it was all. But upon replacing it the present mechanic exclaimed that I had absolutely NO COOLANT in my car so of course something like this would happen. Not only did they not put coolant in but no water as well, which is standard for coolant replacement. With the tube replaced the car still ran too hot and when I turned it off to investigate, it would not start again.

Coolant is a vital fluid for any car. Why would you check my winshield wiper fluid and vacuum the floor and clean the windows and not tell me that I need water or coolant in my car. There isn't even a nanosecond of doubt that my calamity is the result of EZ Lube, which has ruined my car and transportation situation.
