The Camry is very reliable. It's comfortable to drive and handles very well. Easy and inexpensive to maintain. Gas mileage is fair for a midsize car. I feel safe and secure in my Camry. My one concern is the rear pillars and head rests cause some blind spots when backing or changing lanes. The trunk is roomy and easy to pack.

I've owned my current car, a Toyota Camry, since 2001. It is a most reliable, comfortable car, still stylish in my opinion. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles that newer cars have. It does have cruise control, which is the only feature I feel need. I've never had any breakdowns in 18+ years of owning my Camry. I've driven Toyotas since 1979 and these results apply, not just to my Camry, but to the 2 Corollas I owned before. Should I decide to buy another vehicle in the future, I can assure you it will be Toyota. I've never had a desire for any other brand. It's important to be able to trust your transportation. I've watched friends and family buy other brands, only to consistently have problems, even with brand new vehicles.

They stopped making this car in 2008. This is a full sized Camry body that is a convertible. The top folds down into an area behind the back seat and doesn't impact the trunk space at all. I can fit more stuff in my trunk with the top down than any other convertible at any price point. It's beautiful and it's a Toyota which is cheap to maintain and very reliable.

My 2003 Toyota Camry still get 30+ mpg and runs smoothly and comfortably. I have not spent a cent on it in over 3 years except for gas, oil/lube jobs, and insurance. The interior is getting a little worn, the rear speaker grill has disintegrated, the overhead lining is loose over the rear window and is tucked up, and the rear seat is stained from a grandchild dropping something, I would not fear driving it to Florida again. Navigation failures. Transmission issues. AC/Heating issues. Heated seats not working. Literally the word CAMRY was falling off. Vents falling off. Vents whistling when fan is engaged. Car has gaps throughout the body. Staples sticking out on the floor. Roof leaked. Sensors leak water. Never would I recommend this car to anyone. I would not recommend any Toyota service dealership to have any work done on any type of vehicle. I’ve tried to contact Toyota customer care # and was on hold over 45 minutes and hung up. This is not customer service. This is take your money and screw you. I want my vehicle fixed and nothing is being done. This is absolutely ridiculous. Toyota as I thought were great vehicles. And they said THERE USED to BE BUT NO LONGER. I asked if it's a defect, how can it expire and so they said they didn't know. I tried to contact Toyota on line and got no response. Toyota treats its customers like dust!!! I purchased a Camry 2009 and had its dashboard melted for many years as my attached picture. I have recently been at a dealership and brought it to their attention. The agent told me that the dashboard of my Camry is found malfunction and recalled. However, it passed the recall deadline few months. I contacted to Toyota many times to present my case. Toyota keep telling me it sent two mails to me in regards to the recall and refuse to replace it with the same reason that it passed the deadline regardless that I repeatedly told them I did not receive its mails. I am surprised about the way such a big company treated their customers. I feel Toyota issued the recall to avoid a lawsuit more than to serve its customers better.

IF THE DASHBOARD IS NOT MALFUNCTION, I DON'T NEED TO GO THROUGH THIS WHOLE PROCEDURE, AND THERE IS NO DEADLINE TO MISS. It is Toyota fault as the first place, not its customers. My dashboard was recalled and it sent me two mails asking me to bring it in for service. So it does not matter when I bring it in. Is there a way to file a lawsuit for the malfunction of the dashboard and Toyota failed to inform its customer? If anyone know how to do it, please let me know.

On Sunday, July 21st, I went to NTB to have them check my oil because my oil light came on; when your oil light comes on, you know there’s an issue especially when you’re always on top of your oil changes. Luckily for me (at the time), there was a former Toyota associate present who remembered an issue that some Toyotas were having related to an oil consumption issue. This issue was causing an overconsumption of oil which resulted in quicker oil changes among other issues that could be detrimental to the overall life span of the car.

I own a 2009 Toyota Camry. I love my car so you can imagine my horror anytime something like this jeopardizes her overall health. At any rate, I contacted Nalley Toyota the same day regarding the issue but the service department was closed. I opted to leave a message. Two days later, Reid **, an Assistant Service Manager, called me back. When we spoke, I asked him about the oil consumption issue and provided him with my VIN. His initial response was that my car didn’t fall under the list of impacted vehicles. Once I pressed a little harder about the issue, all of a sudden he was able to confirm that my car was impacted by the oil consumption issue. We made plans for me to bring the car in 7/24 (one day after our talk). I arrived and we spoke about the issue. I gave him my keys and my car was taken to have an oil consumption test.

I went to the waiting area, watched a full hour-long TV show and then Reid came and tapped me on the shoulder. “I have some not so good news,” he said. Turns out, my car didn’t qualify because the warranty for the issue expired 11/2018. For starters, why didn’t he know this when he spoke to me the day before? Why did I have to take a day off to handle an issue, only to be told that my car didn’t qualify. Please keep in mind, I only found out 7/21/19 and had the associate at NTB not told me, I still wouldn’t know.

I asked Reid to contact his corporate office regarding the matter and they eventually told him that since the issue was no longer under warranty, nothing could be done. So you mean to tell me that I have to either pay to have this fixed ($3,000+) or I can just deal with it? I asked Reid what options I had and aside from suggesting that I get oil changes every 3,000 miles (vs 5,000), he had the audacity to tell me that I could sell the car. Who says that!?!? Bottom line – Reid was about as helpful as a flashlight in the daytime. And it was a total failure of customer service and clearly the model that the company as a whole follows. There’s nothing worse than being told, there’s nothing we can do. No exceptions, nothing. That’s a horrific business model.

I need to understand why Toyota is selling crappy cars. I need to understand why no one actually told me about the recall. I never received a single correspondence in the mail regarding this matter. Because if I did, I would have had it fixed immediately especially since it involves my car’s heartbeat aka engine. This issue may have been recognized in 2015 according to the documentation that NTB gave me and if that’s the case, you mean to tell me that in 4 years, no one said anything to me? It’s odd… My last car was a 1997 Camry and it literally died on me while driving to work. The cause: a locked engine due to an oil issue with the engine. Are you seeing the pattern here? I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a recall on that car’s engine too.

It sucks that a company like Toyota continues to build crappy cars/engines. It sucks even more that consumer loyalty and respect don’t play roles in this matter. There’s no way in hell I should have NOT KNOWN about this issue. I want my car fixed and I should not have to pay for it. This is a Toyota issue; not my issue. And the fact that they so easily dismiss customers is appalling. I need to know who dropped the ball on this and I want my engine fixed. Update: I sent this same email to Toyota’s corporate customer service team. They did not address a single one of my concerns; opting to simply say “no, final answer.” What a joke!

I called Toyota as I noticed in the complaint dept. this was an ongoing problem. The associate who attempted to take care of my complaint said that Toyota had a warranty extension but it wasn't a factory recall. I asked her why I wasn't notified and she checked and found out it was sent to the previous owner instead of me. How could I possibly know of this warranty extension if it was sent to the wrong person. I feel Toyota should be responsible for the cost to fix it because it was their error.

Dear Toyota, As a loyal Toyota customer, I just purchased a 2019 Camry (this being my 4th Camry). I found that the seats are designed too low to the ground, making it difficult to get in and out. Further, if you raise the seat, it reduces the clearance of seat to roof, making it harder to squeeze in. Also, most of the "pockets for storage" grossly lacking. Because of this design flaw, or miscalculation, the wife and I will be switching to another reputable brand in a year or two.

We negotiated the purchase of a 2018 Camry LE. We were looking for a stand alone GPS system, back up camera etc. The day of delivery we were shocked to find out the vehicle's GPS system is dependent upon the owner having a smart phone. The GPS system is not a stand alone system. We downloaded the Toyota Entune app and the Scout GPS app but found out right away this system is very unreliable and doesn't work half the time. We protested the same day but found out that Toyota does not have a return policy, so you're stuck with the new ride once you take delivery. We have to throw our old, but very trustworthy Garmin dash mount GPS on the dash when we want dependable navigation. We protested this directly to Toyota, but of course never received a reply. The vehicle itself is excellent, but Toyota definitely needs to ditch the app dependent GPS and go with a stand alone GPS in the future.

I have a 2018 Toyota Camry SE, a little under 1 year I noticed 3 white spots in the leather. The largest spot on the back of the passenger seat and 2 smaller spots on the bench seat on the opposite side of the vehicle. It looks as if it’s a bad piece of material. I brought it back to the dealership who then inspected the interior and made a claim for me. The man inspecting specifically said it would be a costly fix and most likely denied. I told him I only wipe my seating with water and dry with a cloth. No soaps or chemicals.

A month goes by and I never heard back from the dealership so I called to see if there was an update and was told my claim was denied by the engineer out of Houston and that it appeared I had put chemicals on my interior. All this assumed through photos. I offered for them to test a piece of the fabric for whatever chemical they assumed I used but they denied it being necessary. I now have a case # with the customer hotline and am awaiting on a callback. Very disappointed!

We purchased the 2018 Camry XSE after test drives of various Toyota cars. We have 3 other Toyota’s from 2011, 2013 & 2017 but wanted a not sophisticated ride to go with our truck Venza and 86. Mileage and ride are better than expected or EPA rated but the care suffers from a couple of flaws. There is a decided lag of acceleration when in ECO mode and in city traffic it lends to some concern.

The other issue is a poorly designed set of covers on the undercarriage. These are plastic, not properly formed to the underbody and lead to the following issues: these panels have gaps at the leading edge that allow infiltration of foreign matter such as dirt, water, snow etc leading to the outside edge sagging and collecting even more grime. The outside 8 to 9 inch edge has no support so buildup is further allowed as a result. There are of course small drainage holes about the splash shield but they only compound the issue allowing water to escape making the mud congeal and harden. Toyota will tell you you have to replace the splash shield(s) at a cost of $265.00 per side, not so however.

Any competent body or repair shop can remove clean and reinstall any panel at a lesser charge with 10mm sockets and body fastener tools. Once clean the panel will be as good as new so long as it hasn’t dragged on the ground and caused voids or other damage. Our passenger side was sagging and had taken on enough grime to cause it to be bent. I reinstalled it after cleaning and used a heat gun to refit it to better conform to the underside of the car. These panels I was told by Toyota service techs were required to protect mechanical parts on the underside of the vehicle.

The only thing I found on the underside were factory installed posts to fasten the panel so I can assume these function as smoothing surfaces to enhance airflow rather than any beneficial protection. As with any auto repair shop get a more informed opinion and do some research before allowing work to be charged that should be warranted repair from poor design problems. This could have been a reoccurring $630.00 repair had it been my wife of another unsuspecting Camry owner.

Toyota has lowered the bar on being accountable to asking for and receiving feedback. While I am generally happy with my Toyota vehicles, they are relentless in pursuit of feedback to use against their dealerships but they really don't care to hear about the points when they fail to meet customer expectations. My 2018 Camry has remote start via Toyota.com. What is presented as amazing technology is really a nightmare. While attempting to start my car remotely, I frequently encounter delays and extra steps to accomplish what a single push of the button on my Viper remote could accomplish. It took 4 minutes today to start my car.

Unable to process my request happens far too often. Attempting to find a way to give them feedback yields few options. If I had a concern about a dealer, they are all over it. Another concern I have with keyless entry is the car remains running when I get out, even when it is drive away. Recently I forgot to hand my key to the valet and he drove off, no problem, but he had to find me to retrieve my key so he could move my car. It's not okay that a car could be stolen and only have the fact that they need to keep it running as a deterrent. The car should not run when the key is not within range. My initial decision to buy a Toyota came years ago after reading The Toyota Way. This company today does not even remotely resemble the company portrayed in that book.

We had no problem so we put the notice aside and forgot about it. We later had a very sticky dashboard, but had forgotten about the notice. I purchased a 2018 Toyota Camry in October 2017. I had heard nothing but good news about Camrys. I wasn't really looking to purchase right then, but was convinced to buy. OK I should have waited but it is what it is. I paid way more for it than I should have with what the dealer carried over from my truck. Live and learn. So the car runs good, gets good gas mileage, but I live in Arizona. That's where the problems come in. As anyone knows it gets hot in Phoenix, and when it gets really hot, above 105 degrees the lane assist light and the frontal crash light comes on on the dash and stays on either until I turn the car off or it cools down. The rear middle seat belt light comes on at any temperature and the "dinger" goes off as if someone is sitting in it, yet no one is.

One day when all the lights came on I zipped over to the nearest Toyota dealership because the one I purchased it from said they couldn't help me unless they (the lights) were on when I got there. So this dealership took my car in and put it on their diagnostic machine and came back and said "There was nothning wrong that they could find, and that it even states in the owner's manual that if temperatures reach a certain degree, that certain accessories may not work". I was floored and said "So you're telling me that this thing has "factory flaws" and I am supposed to just deal with it". For as much as I paid for this, he just shrugged his shoulders like he didn't know what to tell me. Now my radio fizzles in and out occasionally. It fizzles and I lose the radio station and it goes back to the home screen, as soon as I start messing with buttons it comes back. I would sell this tomorrow if I could. Buyers beware.

I just got my I'll back after a suspension, and I needed a reliable car to go to work in. I happened to see a 1995 Toyota Camry for sale. I thought how great people said Toyotas are. Boy, was I ever dumb to listen to that. That car has one problem after another. I replaced tires, all four. Then it needed a front end alignment, sway bar needed to be replaced. That's all understandable that it would need maintenance work. The major problem started with the car sputtering and misfiring. Then I became stranded miles away from home, because it sputtered and misfired and shook, it struggled for power and then just died. I called for roadside assistance and had it towed, finally after being stranded for hours, to the mechanics. Then when they finally told me what was wrong with it, they said it just needs a tune up, that tune up costs me $421. Ok.

When I finally get the thing back, it seemed to be running fine, WRONG! After a few hours of use it started sputtering again and struggling for power. I managed to get it home. The next day I started to drive it, it seemed to drive normal after the overnight rest. Then I was taking it to the mechanics, I went up a hill then it started to sputter again. I arrived at an inspection at a red light, on a highway, then the car died there again. I was very angry. There was all this traffic behind me at the light. After a period of time a couple of guys helped push the piece of junk out of the highway.

Again I called roadside assistance and towed it back to the mechanics. It's still there now waiting to hear what else it could be. I googled the problem and found out 1995 Toyota Camry are known for this problem. Someone online said it turned out to be the water pump. I know next time I buy a car, it's going to be a Honda. When I get my car back, I'm going to be scared to drive it anywhere in fear of it breaking down on me.

My mom has had a Toyota Camry since around 2010. She recently purchased a new, 2018 Camry XSE. I can’t get over how gorgeous this car is! But a recurring issue is the interior. I have always loved leather interior, but something about it gives me headaches! I’ve come to this conclusion because we had cloth upholstery in her previous car, and in my brother’s 2010 Corolla, I have never experienced this problem. Even my friends get headaches from sitting in her car! I had thought the issue would be resolved upon purchasing the new car, but it wasn’t. In extended car rides, it is even worse. The longer I stay in the car, the worse it gets.

Everything else about the cars (both the new one and the old one) is amazing! But this is something that has puzzled me as to why the leather would make me and other people so sick. It starts out as just a headache and then progresses to nausea. Other than that, the car is so wonderful. This issue has seriously taken the car from a five star car to a four star car. Her 2018 model car is better than many Mercedes. This can’t be ignored though. I hope there’s an answer as to why this affects me and others so awfully.

I always thought of Toyota Camry as a great reliable car until now. My 2012 has less than 43000 miles on it and the ac just stopped cooling. I went to get my usual oil change and tire rotation and ask if they could check the a.c. for what may just be an easy fix, fuse or relay switch and the answer was, "No but for 170 dollars we can do a full check and that cost would not be applied to the repair." No heart for the fact that I was having this issue with so little miles on it.

I really just wanted another option on it as I had to get a tire fixed fast two days before my oil change appointment and the mechanic there was kind enough not to charge me to check out my ac and told me the compressor is shot. I would have felt more comfortable having the dealership fix the problem but with the way they treated my concerns today no thanks. I'd rather have good old Joe Shmoe help me. Due to this experience Toyota will never have my business again. On average the cost of this repair is 2400.

Warning messages read "CHECKS VSC" and "CHECK HYBRID SYSTEM" along with traction control light, brake malfunction, check engine light, and other hazard warning lights came on. I noticed my tpms started flashing, pulled over and checked all the tire pressures and they all measured to be correct. I've noticed my brakes have become softer and the accelerator pedal seems unresponsive upon initial take off, which is extremely dangerous at a busy intersection. I noticed the brake issue the following day after my long drive when I bumped my left corner into an object and scraped the bumper! I refuse to let my pregnant wife drive the car or put my little kids in it.

Dealer States car will need a new Hybrid battery which will cost almost $5000! It may also need Brake actuator and whatever else they find wrong at this point. This car was always serviced at a Toyota dealership (Kenny Ross PA) and I'm upset at the fact that TOYOTA isn't willing to help at all, knowing this is a SAFETY related problem they are completely aware of that has occurred on multiple vehicles of this year when they extended the warranty to 10yr/150k miles. I'm unqualified because I've past the time frame??? Why wasn't I informed by Toyota of the extension or the free replacement program?? I also love the rearview camera that makes backing out way more simpler and the button controls on the steering wheel. We chose this make and model as our family vehicle because we have always heard wonderful things about Toyotas. We have heard that they are extremely reliable and good on gas. My family loves to travel so this was a selling point for me. I also heard that Toyota model vehicles are relatively cheap to fix which is comforting when purchasing a new vehicle.

However, I would add a mirror reflector similar to the Buicks that let you see the speedometer on the windshield. I would also perhaps add the ability to use free wifi from inside the vehicle. I would also love to see DVD players included in the car as I have children and road trips would be more convenient if this feature was included. On 4/17/2018, I called Toyota Motors and the Toyota Dealership in Houston. I found out that there was a recall and recall was ended on December 2017. I did not receive any notices from TOYOTA about the Warranty Enhancement Service recall on Oil Consumption.

Toyota Dealership in Houston believed that this type of car should not experience this problem at a low mileage. She checked to see if there was a recall on my engine and found one, but it was expired on December 2017, three month ago. She advised me to check with Toyota Motors Incorporate office to see if they could help me. After 14 times phone calls finally Ms. Diaema ** from the executive office contacted me on April 26, 2018, she was EXTREMELY unprofessional. First, she had all the facts wrong. So, I had to explained to her from the beginning, it's like she was totally lost. I had to repeat my explanation.

Finally, during my explanation, she HUNG UP on me. On Tuesday May 1, 2018 I called her 5 times and she never return my phone calls, after my email on May 3, 2018, Ms. Diaema ** called and she said, “EVERY TIME YOU EMAIL TO Mr. Akio Toyoda, IT IS GOING TO COME TO ME AND I STOP IT, BECAUSE I AM THE Executive Office Administrator”, in addition she was EXTREMELY unprofessional and RUDE. Toyota never care about their customers with the products and services that they provide. I wish I had to read some of the reviews before I shop.

Talking to customer service was a waste of time. No help. Total disrespect for the consumer. I will most certainly use a more reliable company in the future. I should not, will not doing any business with the company with such bad customer service and management practice. P.S. Wow... TOYOTA coming in at the #1 spot for absolute worst customer service I've ever experienced (and am still experiencing).

Updated on 07/02/2018: In addition I had sent a certified mail restricted delivery with return receipt to Mr. **. After 3 three attempted by USPS (May 26, May 29 and May 30) Instead of Mr. **, Mr. Charles ** signed for him. I sent Mr. ** another email on June 6, 2018. Mail and emailing to you Mr. ** was a waste of time. No help. Total disrespect for the consumer.

Although TOYOTA CAMRY 2008 with defective engines that burn excessive amounts of oil is covered by the warranty (recall), TOYOTA MOTORS had failed to agree to the repairs being carried out and are therefore in breach of contract. Mr. ** should know that the warranty is a contract between me and Toyota Motors Incorporated. I do not accept any reasons the TOYOTA MOTORS had given for refusing to carry out the repair, because TOYOTA MOTORS had my updated address, email and phone number and failed to notify me on time. I have been amazed with 2004 Toyota Camry SE 3.3L Touring Series! Enough power to provide safe passing when necessary. Fit and finish is a 4 (out of 5). But what is most impressive is the reliability! 160,000 miles and only "broke down" once; it failed to start when the original battery died after 4 yrs. After getting a jump start, I was able to go the ~10 miles home running essentially on just the alternator. That was about 100,000 miles ago and that alternator is still going strong! The only items (not counting fluids) we've had to replace up to this point are filters, tires, battery, spark plugs, light bulbs, wiper blades, and timing belt. Also replaced the water pump when replacing the timing belt since vast portion of the cost was in the labor which was also necessary to replace the timing belt. We'll soon probably have to replace some of the under-hood hoses (radiator, etc.).

Although the outside styling is very nice and much improved... I am hugely disappointed in my recent purchase of this vehicle 2018 Camry XSE. #1. The car is SO sluggish, Toyota should have given this 4 cylinder a turbo. #2. The suspension is too loose, it's supposed to be slightly better on the XSE but it isn't, it feels very cheap. (The 2018 Honda Civic Touring feels much better). #3. The XSE should come with the better audio package, the radio is awful. Along with not sounding good, it freezes all of the time. I've only had the car for 4 weeks and it freezes at least every other time I'm in the car. Toyota simply said to "wait and hope" there is an update available soon...

If I would have had more time to shop around I would have went with either the Honda Civic Touring because of the great pick-up (from the turbo) and the better stereo, great gas mileage. The VW Passat SEL if the roominess was an issue, the Passat feels the most like a BMW that I used to have. And last the Kia Optima SX if the gas mileage isn't too important. It's still good just not as high as the Camry promises, which I have to say I haven't seen yet. I'm also disappointed in that. It's just a sloppy car within a pretty package. There are other options out there for the same price point. I recommend definitely trying all options and then deciding if the Camry is right for you. I wish I would have had the time to do that before I purchased. I was too focused on the promise of Toyota dependability and great gas mileage and so far I haven't gotten either.

I have always had abnormal engine oil consumption such that I have had to add quarts of oil after 2,000-4,000 driving mileage which has been always far behind oil-filter replacement services at 5,000 miles. Ultimately, in 2016, I took my Camry to a Toyota Center and they suggested to run an engine oil consumption test (which Toyota had offered in a recall due to a manufacturing problem in the engine -- either in pistons or rings, or both). I accepted to run the test, and after the test, the technician confirmed that the test did not show significant engine oil consumption, and they did not fix my car.

This engine oil consumption problem is a Toyota manufacturing fault and must be fixed as soon as possible by Toyota at any time without any deadline. Toyota announced 2008 Camrys have this problem, and the problem is there in all 2008 Camry cars not only in diagnosed cars. Technicians may make mistakes in running the test; however, the manufactured pieces (piston and/or ring in my case) are all faulty in all 2008 Camrys. Requesting to run a test is not reasonable at all for a car type that is legitimately proven by the manufacturer or numerous customers to possess a faulty piece or pieces.

I called the Toyota Customer Services North America during the past several days (February 24 and 26, 2018) and talked to several ranking customer services agents up to a supervisor. All of them failed to resolve my issue as I requested them to fix my car manufacturing problem at Toyota expense. All in all, I strongly urge Toyota to fix this issue timelessly before people fall into bigger and far more serious troubles of losing the car engines (and consequent safety issues) and filing numerous lawsuits against Toyota.

It was diagnosed with a blown head gasket cause by stripped engine bolts that caused the coolant to leak out after the engine cooled. Also at that point it began to have an over heating problem. Too expensive to fix the Engine and it had to be replaced with a remanufactured engine. Total cost, I paid over all subsequent repairs was $6,690.00!!

And I only got 2,000 miles out of the REmanufactured engine and it too blew a head gasket. It turned out to be a used engine with the same problem as my old one!!?? (Bought that engine from "Engine world" in Houston Texas) I think Toyota should step up and pay compensation to all the thousands of Toyota owners that have had problems with this unusual engine flaw. Mine lived longer than other Camry's I have seen on other website with a similar problem, but still 135k is unusually short engine life that the manufacturer should be responsible for fixing.

This is the worst car and dealership I've ever had and experienced. I have had the car for nine months with 9,500 miles on it. There have been consistent electrical issues with the car such as the gas mileage dropping. When I first got it, I was averaging 380-390 miles per tank. I took it to the dealership and they could find "nothing wrong" with it. Recently it dropped to around 330 per tank and was driving approximately the same every week. When I brought it back in (mind you, I live 80 miles away round trip) they decided to reset the computer and it seems to be working. However it's only been a week.

Now the check electrical component sign is showing up when I only turn on the car and not start it. Plus, when my phone connects to the radio, every time it starts on repeat. For a car having this many electrical issues, that is only 9 months old and with under 10,000 miles is totally and completely unacceptable. I've contacted an attorney and have a case for lemon law. I plan on asking for a full refund and am going to buy a Honda.

The problem is that the ABS brake actuator has gone bad and has to be replaced at a cost of $2500!!! When driving at modest speeds on normal roads, the brake and ABS lights come on and the speedometer drops to 0 even though I am driving. The dashboard acts crazy. I am NOT using any brakes at the time, and I have never needed to use the ABS brakes. I don't know what is going on!!! This happens off and on, for no apparent reason. I have read the same complaints by many other Camry owners on NHTSA. There is a 180 page pdf on safetyinstitute.org that listed Toyota Camry vehicle problems, many about the ABS brake actuator or ABS module problems. This is a strong safety issue, and from reading other reports, it is not safe to drive my car.

The repair cost of $2500 is crazy and unaffordable!!! I contacted Toyota Headquarters in California but they were not helpful and won't acknowledge the problem. I have driven Toyota cars for 40 years and NEVER had this problem before. Toyota should make this a recall item and replace the ABS actuator at no cost. They have already done this for Camry Hybrids. My 1993 Camry lasted 14 years and to 200,000 miles. This current car is a piece of crap. I will never buy a Camry again; instead my next car will be a Honda. Many problems with Toyota are showing up in the news. Consumer Reports did an article in 2014, the New York Times did an article in 2010, Fortune did an article also in 2010. Be forewarned: Camrys made in the last 10 years ARE NO LONGER quality cars. They have too many problems and repairs are too expensive.

My son was recently left in the middle of the road with our 2009 Camry 5 seconds after the oil light came on. (Excessive Oil Consumption issue known by Toyota - August 11, 2011, Toyota issued a technical service bulletin TSB to dealers.) We were not aware of this problem or we would have advised him to check the oil every gas fill up to prevent problems. The car is a complete loss, but what concerns me most is that he was on a country highway with miles of open space between towns. Luckily he was just entering Bedford VA and made it to the entrance of a shopping center before the car died. Since he was blocking the shopping center entrance 'some random guy' helped him push the car into a parking area. Had this happened between towns and his car been stuck on the highway this could have been extremely dangerous, especially if it had been after dark.

Both the shop we towed the car to and the company that last changed the oil investigated why the oil ran dry after only 1500 miles. Their conclusions matched in that there were no signs of faulty maintenance from the oil change nor any signs of obvious leaks. To leave people in dangerous situations because a company does not want to accept responsibility for faulty or defective equipment nor do they want to notify owners that this could be a serious issue is beyond contempt. We would like to join any class action lawsuit due to Toyota's negligence in not informing the car owners of this serious problem. In the meantime we need to determine what to do with the 'dead' car as we don't want to dump it if something else is needed to join a class action lawsuit.

My neighbor is getting ready to sell his car. He is leaking black fluid. He just added oil, the new synthetic stuff that this car requires. Corn oil fuel that's good enough to cook with, right guys. The fluid is black right after an oil change when the car has been parked all day? This car has some serious issues that Toyota isn't talking about, or the fluid is transmission fluid which requires an expensive complicated fluid pressure test done by very expensive complicated equipment, which can be done simply by reading the oil pressure gauge and the engine temperature gauge and comparing these two numbers with the acceptable pressure and temperature listed in the specs to get the amount of special transaxle "corn syrup" ATF fluid for this car.

You can tell if the fuel level is off by the loud clanging noises that the car is making. Your videos indicate that you can fix the transaxle fluid level by adding two parts, a 1 1/2" plastic tube and a rubber gasket to seal it in place, in the Fill Opening behind the front driver side tire which you have to remove. You can remove the cap with a 6mm hex tool as well as install the plastic tube. You can check the level if the fluid is not black, but just a little dirty, but why would you want to? This car is fighting itself!

There is a problem which is indicated by the warning light which comes on when the engine overheats indicating an oil level problem. Your car burns too much oil, that is your problem, and why so many users are forced to pay your outlandish fee for draining transmission fluid which also serves as gas. The gas level is too low, your car burns gas due to oxidation problems in the engine, and your transaxle transmission fluid level is too high at the same time due to the constant, expensive, unneeded transmission fluid changes which destroy the gears while causing the temperature that the engine runs at to read higher than it is, increasing the fuel pressure causing the engine to overheat resulting in more fuel loss. It's catch-22 on steroids!

I am having an issue with Toyota Canada. This all started about 2 years back when my car, 2007 Toyota Camry LE 2.4L, started burning oil. After repeated tests to the dealerships I was told oil burning was normal. As time progressed the car started burning more and more oil per 1000km of travel. After repeated tries to convince the dealer and the head office there was an issue with my car burning oil, I was told it was caused by lack of maintenance and there was no design fault of the car. Even after producing proof that I had changed my oil on a regular basis with the proper grade of oil and filter.

Then in April of 2015 I got a letter from Toyota titled Warranty Enhancement Program, and this was brought out to correct the engine oil consumption issue on certain engines, which mine conforms to. The guideline of how this is tested was clear, take the car to the dealer, have them change the oil. At which point they will seal the dipstick, filter and drain plug. I am to drive the car around normal for 2000km and return to the dealer to check oil levels. After performing this test on my car, it was indeed found to be using more oil than normal. This test was performed in June of 2015.

After it was determine the car failed the test, I was booked for a engine rebuild for the following week. A few days before the repairs, I was told to submit receipts of oil changes and they would submit them to Toyota for approval. So the first appointment was cancelled. And because I do my own oil changes it took quite a few back and forths with the head office and the manager at the dealership to finally have them approve the repairs.

Since then I have had multiple appointments made then cancelled due to lack of parts. I find it extremely unbelievable that it could take more than a year to gather so-called parts to correct an issue with the engines. I am now stuck between purchasing oil almost on a weekly basis and not driving my car, which I need daily. Toyota is not offering any assistance other than reassuring me that the problem will be fixed. I am not sure how I can get this completed and there are quite a few others in Canada that are facing the same runaround from Toyota. I expected a much higher level of service from this company, and I am quite disappointed and potentially stuck with a car that is burning a hole in my wallet and one that can't even sell because of this issue. Any assistance you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

I received a letter stating that there was a recall on my car for replacement of the dashboard. I visited a local dealership to make arrangements and was told that I should call every two weeks to check to see if the dashboard arrived. This I was told is necessary because sometimes a dashboard will come in and it is used for another vehicle even though I went in and filed a claim. I have called and visited the dealership several times and they still don't have the dashboard replacement. I was told by one person that it could take up to two years to have the dashboard replaced. Since this is a company recall and I have done my part in filing a report, I strongly believe that I should be contacted when the replacement dashboard arrives. I have left several messages to no avail.

My name it Tori, and I own a 2007 Toyota Camry, purchased brand new. My Camry has been burning high levels of oil since 2013. I have a clicking noise, along with shaking from my motor when in idle. I have reached out to the local dealer and regional office regarding my vehicle and the excessive oil usage and noise, only to be told that it is normal to add a quart of oil every 1000 miles. I am a FEMALE not STUPID!! Nothing is normal about that. I add at least 4 or more quarts of oil before my standard oil change which is between 3000-5000 miles. Add that up!!! Please tell me how is that normal???

I purchased my Toyota thinking I was getting quality and got a lemon! The sad part is, Toyota is fully aware of the problem but not taking responsibility for the fix!! They have come up with some fail proof test, with checking mileage between 1100-1200 miles with a dipstick determination. Yeah right!!! Even if you do these test, it's not guarantee that you're getting an accurate reading, but we have to go off of what was indicated by a tech that gets paid by Toyota... I've read several reviews with all the same problem that I'm having. Toyota!!! Stand behind your vehicle and fix the problem instead of making me/us feel like we've done something wrong. IT'S YOUR FAULT, FIX THE PROBLEM YOU CAUSE.

It shouldn't matter how many miles anyone has on their vehicle, It is Toyota's faulty part, it's only fair that YOU "TOYOTA" be responsible for fixing the issue. My car is only 6 years old, religiously taken care of it since brand new. Even use Toyota Genuine parts and Synthetic oil changes. At 58,000 miles the car engine light remain on which started flashing. Made an appointment next day. Getting my car checked out rep said my car was burning at least 3 quarts of oil. I also contacted TOYOTA but no one will try do anything, making me drive a car that is a oil burner. Since extended warranty has expired I am on my own. Don't get me wrong, love my Camry. Not happy fact that TOYOTA is not taking this action serious. It was a affordable car I could buy. Even gets good gas mileage and still nice looking. This situation occurred at 58,000 miles. Don't drive as much. I've tried talking to other mechanics but they can't seemed do anything as tell me to take it back to the dealership.

It's hard on me getting TOYOTA work with me as this was the first Toyota ever owned. First import was a 1998 Honda Accord EX-V6 then traded on a Camry. Now makes think twice. I will ever never purchase another Toyota again. I also told others about this situation. My car is fully paid. For now thinking of selling, buying another new car to get me around in without dealing with this situation anymore as I had lots of faith in Toyota. My 2007 Toyota Camry was consuming oil for at least two years. When I received a recall notice on it I was excited that it would finally be fixed. I went for the oil consumption test at Lakeside Toyota in Metairie, LA and they topped it up, sealed it and sent me on my way - telling me to come back between 1100 and 1300 miles. I came back at exactly 1100 miles today fully expecting that they would find it had consumed excessive oil only to get a call this evening advising that they tested it by adding one quart of oil and finding that it was back at the same level as when it started - meaning that you have to have used over one quart of oil in 1100 miles to be considered excessive. There are only 4.5 quarts of oil in the vehicle and it is only supposed to be changed every 5K miles.

So what my dealership is telling me is that it is not excessive oil consumption for the vehicle to need to add a total of more oil than the vehicle holds over the course of the 5K miles between changes - ludicrous! An acceptable level might be more along the lines of one quart every 5K miles - this level would not cause engine damage if left unattended between oil changes. In addition, because I have been experiencing excessive oil consumption in my experience I rented a vehicle in anticipation that the dealership would cover the cost because they certainly would be repairing the engine to stop the oil consumption. I am also out money for this rental - even though the dealership was also replacing my dashboard (also a recall).

Additionally I was never notified that there was a problem with the sunvisors and mine came off several years ago - only now I find out that they had coverage of it but they are refusing to repair it so I can see while driving in the sun. This is dangerous and they should replace the sunvisor because I was not advised about the extended coverage in time to get it repaired under the warranty enhancement.

My 03 Camry had been serviced on the regular basis since new and had 220000 km on it. One day out of the blue, it overheated as I was driving home without any warning or visible coolant leakages. I thought it was the thermostat stuck closed causing the overheat so I replaced it. I took it out for test drive and after 30 minutes its temperature went up and stay there. After pulling up onto the driveway, I noticed the smell of coolant and coolant dripping onto the ground from back side of the motor. Had the car towed to a shop and they told me it's either a head gasket or head bolts are loose. The repair would cost up to $3000+ or $4000 with used motor or $7000 for a new one.

I went online to check if there are others suffered from the same problem and discovered that it's a defect in the motor design since 2002. This motor has a design flaw where the threads on the block will be stripped with the expansion and shrinkage of the aluminum block. I was amazed to hear Toyota knew about this issue and choose not take any action to address it given the fact they claim they have the most reliable cars. Now, I will think twice before going back to a Toyota.

Just got my 2015 V6 Camry XSE with less than 3800 miles on it, out of the shop. No ABS or VSC warning lights are lit up in the dash. Fault codes had indicated that the car needed a new module. Module arrived the following day, but could not be programmed to the car, rendering the car undrivable. The tech said that the replacement module was not compatible with my car because of some "pre-collision feature" Toyota offers, and my car apparently did not have this option. It took the techs five days to figure this out. A new module was ordered and arrived the following day, and it was replaced in a matter of an hour or two.

So you mean to tell me that I went six days without my car because of a mix up in ordering a part? Whatever the case, I THINK the ABS and VSC problems are resolved. However, I've noticed that at random intervals when the brake pedal is pressed it seems to vibrate. The car brake's fine mind you; there is no vibration in the car, just the brake pedal. I would take it back to the Toyota dealership and ask them to check it out, but considering that they scratched the interior door panel AND put a slight dent in the bumper, I'll count my blessings and hope for the best.

    Original Review: July 24, 2015

Just financed a 2015 Camry XSE, my third Camry I might add, and I was mostly satisfied with my purchase. Despite the rave, I was not too crazy about the car's exterior, but the interior made up for it. However, at 3700 miles the ABS warning light has come on. Service tech said the ABS fault codes indicated that the car needed a new module. New module arrived, was installed, now the new module cannot be programmed, rendering the car undrivable! Additionally, ABS fault codes with new module now indicates that car needs a new computer! WHAT A NIGHTMARE!! The car is under warranty, but SO WHAT?! One would have to be an absolute idiot to think this problem won't rear its ugly head again... AFTER the warranty has expired.

Maybe I just got a bad system, but this sure is making me think I made a HUGE mistake getting this car. It's such a shame because I absolutely LOVED my last two Camrys. I thought I would love this one too. I hope the techs can make this right. Otherwise, I am DONE with Toyota! My ratings are based on the current state of the vehicle. I will be sure to post an update once the car is "repaired".

I called the salesman we had purchased a Highlander from and asked him to prep a Camry SE that was in their inventory, which was posted online.

After I got off work we stopped in and picked up the car and drove it home with the intention to test drive it the next day, since it was late and the dealership was closing. I test drove the car the following day and noticed that it was pulling to the left and that there was a vibration at speed ranges of 40's MPH and study vibration in the 70's MPH ranges. The salesman called me the following day and I explained the problem, he said to bring the car in to have the problem corrected.

I took the car in a couple of times for the same issue which they could not correct, they sent a Field Tech to deal with the issue. After the rep test drove the vehicle he wrote a report stating that my vibration issue was due to " Flat spotting of tires". He went as far as stating that he did not detect any vibration when he test drove the car during his test drives.

I have since researched and discovered that other Camry owners are having the same issue with one exception, the Field Techs they dealt with actually stated that there was vibration present and it was "Characteristic of the Camry". I have followed the steps outlined and filed a complaint with Toyota Motor Sales, P.O. Box 2991, Torrance, CA 90509-2991, 800-331-4331. After arguing with them they finally wrote on my repair order that there was still a vibration felt in my vehicle and two other new vehicles.

Hi, I purchased a used car Toyota Camry 2014 (mileage 19,000) few days back from a private owner. And before purchasing, I get it inspected at Toyota authorized dealer (Coggin Toyota Jacksonville). They did checked the car. Based upon their decision that car has no problem and I went ahead and purchased the car. Now not even a month passed and the car has shown some electric problem and I can see some naked wire in harness. When I went back to them, they are not giving me factory warranty stating that the car has some local parts (some plugs and wire) installed from previous owner. I am not able to understand why they are not able to find this problem at the time when they checked the car initially. They could have told me that this car has some loose coupling and local products which could cause the problem and void the factory warranty.

I raised complaint at Toyota customer service, dealer customer relationship manager but no one paying heed to my problem. We are not mechanic and we are dependent on Toyota and their authorized service center. My complaint reference number is **. I want Toyota to intervene in this regard and provide me factory warranty.

My brakes won't stop on time, sometimes it jerks suddenly when I press the brakes, and sometimes it applies pressure which makes it difficult to stop. Unfortunately, I have over 40K miles and out of warranty. Toyota is not going to offer any assistance with this parts. My question is, how can this be a wear and tear item? I purchased a 2008 Toyota Solara recently. The car was beautiful with just over 17K on the odometer. However, there were some serious issues with both a deteriorating front dashboard and a poorly designed nearly useless navigation system. First, there are multiple cracks and giant pimples in the dash board cover. I took it to a local Toyota dealership, in my home state of New Jersey and asked the service manager there to take a look and asked him to tell me what he thought were the cause of the cracking. He began by suggesting that someone may have attempted to take the dash apart (for some unknown reason) and by doing so had caused the dashboard finish to crack. The fact that there are huge pimples and that the cracks happen to appear in multiple locations convince me otherwise. I think that he realized that I was not accepting of his assessment.

After some prodding he did admit to me that he had indeed seen this before. He reported to me that he had previously been employed by a Toyota dealership in the state of Florida and he had seen this problem on several Toyotas that came into his shop down there. Coincidentally, I purchased my car from a private individual in Florida and the CarFax for its VIN number indicates that it has been owned in that state ever since it rolled off the Florida Toyota dealers lot. The service manager further stated that Toyota has never acknowledge this as an issue and so it wasn't likely that they would cover it. I asked him to contact the factory rep from Toyota Motors that services their dealership on my behalf anyway. He told me that the next time that she was going to be at his dealership that he would call me and then I could bring in my Solara and explain my issues. It has been over a month since that time and I have yet to hear back from him.

I know that these cracks are the result of expansion and contraction of two different materials. There is the vinyl on top and the foam underneath it which, being two different materials, have different expansion/contraction ratios. That coupled with the effects of the damaging UV rays of the sum make these materials used in the dash covering totally unsuitable for their purpose. Now, the previous owner told me that the cracks in the dash began to show themselves even before he purchased this vehicle off lease the in 2011. So, here is a three year old car already with cracks and that he estimated had probably quadrupled in length and quantity over the next three years that he owned the car. Now understand that I have no beef with this service manager or this particular dealership. I am disappointed with and angry with Toyota.

Now for the second issue. This is one that I'm quite sure that Toyota is all too aware. The OEM factory navigation system must have cost a pretty penny back when the car was first sold in 2008. I'm sure that the first owner of this vehicle that I now own will tell you how angry he was with the salesperson for convincing him to add this $1300 option (2008 pricing). Had he only known at the time that because of the "safety lock-out feature", which prevents anyone from adjusting unless the car is stopped, out of gear or brake fully applied, then he would have saved himself a great deal of money.

It's obvious, I think, that it's much safer to use the navigation system (by a passenger) in my car rather than to be required to pull over in some strange area to risk life and limb just to find a place to get a burger or to try to figure out where you had missed a turn now that you're lost. Also, it is more dangerous to use my cell phone to dial a number than with using the navigation's screen phone book. Personally, I would never have considered the Toyota if I had known about any of this. I own an Acura which is one year older (2007) and its navigation system is far superior and my wife can operate it from the passenger seat making our driving vacation experience very pleasurable.

I apologize for the length of this letter and I hope that I'm getting my point across. Finally, I'll end by saying that to my knowledge, there is no law which requires the Navigation and phone book to be disabled while driving. This is a feature unique to Toyota and Lexus. Its lock-out issue, poor mapping, lousy route choices and complicated user interface make it almost an intolerable distraction in our car. I hope that Toyota will take care of its customers and provide some sort of fix including an updated navigation DVD which will make this $1300 eyesore at least a little bit more practical and useful.

Because of Consumer Report Magazine's very high ratings of Hybrid Camry I purchased a new 2014. After only a few weeks, I am very sorry I spent so much money on such an unpleasant and problem-problem car. The worst thing about it is that the rear view mirror distorts the light coming from the cars behind you. Instead of seeing distinct headlights, you will see columns of some 20-30 horizontal lines intertwined from each car behind you, confusing you about the distance and the position of the cars behind you. On a rainy night, changing lanes on a highway would be a horrifying experience, not being able to tell how far away, how many cars, and in what relative positions the cars behind you are.

It is definitely not only me, my young daughter (34) and her husband have the same problem with their 2012 Camry Hybrid and my wife, after a single driving experience at night, would not drive it after dark. Another problem with my daughter's 2012 Camry Hybrid relates to the plastic dust cover in the under side of the front end; the screw holding up the front side of the cover got loose and fell off, causing the cover to reach and scrape the asphalt when driving. My daughter has been to Toyota service to get it fixed twice. Do not buy Hybrid Camry until this potentially fatal flaw is fixed and those on the road are recalled.

A couple of years after purchasing our new 2008 Camry Hybrid, white powder began coming from the air vents. The dealer service department told us it was outside dust and recommended replacing the cabin air filter -- which we did but the problem persisted and worsened. This exchange repeated multiple times each time I brought the vehicle in for servicing for the next 3 years until the vehicle was out of warranty. Earlier this year (2014) during a highway drive, I opened my driver's side window which resulted in a cloud of the dust coming into the cabin. For a few moments, I was blinded but somehow managed to stay on the road without hitting adjacent vehicles.

After researching the issue on my own, I discovered the cause of (this is a issue Toyota has issued tech bulletins about) is a faulty coating on an evaporator (part # 88501-4830) in the A/C system. The part has since been substituted in manufacturing. With this information in hand, I have attempted to get a resolution from both the dealership and Toyota, since I believe this issue should have been dealt with during the warranty. The dealership claims they have no Toyota bulletins on any such issue and cannot resolve it under warranty without this information. The actual cost of the repair is roughly $3,000 as it requires dashboard removal. I suspect this is why my concerns fell on deaf ears. After trying to resolve through their customer interaction process, Toyota eventually refuses to resolve the issue or admit the issue even exists, hinting that to do so would admit liability. Toyota has not been able to tell me whether the problem will worsen or diminish over time or whether the dust poses a health risk.

Like many people who have posted here, I am a long-time Toyota owner, having owned a Corolla and two Camrys. In 2008, I bought a new 2009 Camry Hybrid - $40,0000+. The car was a dream to drive and almost completely worry free until 2011, when I got my first "Check VSC System" error. I ended up buying a $4200 extended warranty when this happened as it was an $800 component that failed. Well, that warranty saved me from an additional two costly VSC System issues in 2012&13, saving me a combined cost of another ~$2000 in components. Unfortunately, In March of 2014 I got another VSC System error, but this time it was a computer component that failed - which was not covered under warranty. That one cost me $2800 to fix. My choices were either to buy a new car or buy the component, so I begrudgingly bought the component.

Now, just yesterday evening (10/16/2014), I got my 5th VSC System error. I don't know yet how much this one is going to cost me, but based on the error code, it sounds like the same component that failed in 2011 - the "stroke sensor". I don't know how much this repair will end up costing me, but if it follows the pattern, it will run around $1000 (I let my extended warranty lapse after the computer component episode). If I add up all of the money I have spent since 2011, in dealing with VSC System issues (including the extended warranty since the only time I ever needed to use it was in dealing with the VSC System), it comes up to ~$8,000!

I complained to Toyota last year through their official channels and of course never heard a word back. I also found a website specifically devoted to VSC System errors on Camry Hybrids, so I am one of MANY people who have been fleeced by Toyota dealing with what really can only be called a faulty system. Since the total population of Camry Hybrid owners is infinitesimal when compared to all their other vehicles, I can't see where Toyota will ever own up to this one and do a recall!

My Camry 2012 got diagnosed with torque converter failure that Toyota dealer can fix for estimated value of $3500. I have this car for 1 year and 8 month and put on it 64000 miles. So Toyota dealer and Toyota corporate customer care told me in "regulatory" language that this is my problem now and they will not cover anything because I did not stopped at authorized Toyota Services for every 5000 miles before. My take away is to stay away from Toyota. Proposal to Toyota is to accept problem and fix the transmission. This is clear reliability issue with Toyota.

I bought a 2014 Toyota Camry from Scott Crump Toyota in Jasper, Alabama with 8 miles on the car at purchase date. It now has 16,000 miles and when you turn the A/C on, you get a horrible, musky/moldy smell from the vents for several seconds. Toyota says it normal. Well...it is unacceptable and they will not do anything about it. It's obvious they have had this issue for years if you will read other Toyota forums and google this same issue. Several people complain with the same moldy odor coming from the vents. I did not buy a new car for it to have a moldy smell to it after only 15,000 miles on the car. I'm done with Toyota and with Scott Crump Dealership. Whether Toyota wants to stand behind their product is up to them. But as a consumer, I do not have to buy their products. And WILL NOT buy another Toyota product. This is the second Toyota I have bought since 2011 and had issues with. Both that Toyota cannot fix! This is totally unacceptable!

2012 Toyota Camry - Car Revving, accelerated, shifting by itself!! I was very upset with the sheriff who pointed a gun to my wife face and arrested her and put her in jail with the felony charge of assault deadly weapon. The car was completely stop at the traffic light in between two vehicles and suddenly the car losing out of control. The accelerator revving, shifting by itself and keeps hitting both vehicles, 2x front and rear ended a vehicle. We hired a legal attorney and still waiting and hoping to release her felony charges. We are so bless that she did not run over a person. But, with the attorney fees, bail amount, impound fees and other non stop endless expenses we both suffering and it's very painful, stressful!!

I purchased my 2014 Camry from Dublin Toyota. I thought I was getting rid of my car problems... not the case. Today makes exactly two weeks since I made the purchase (the car now has roughly 886 miles now). It has now been in their service department for two days because it has a rough idle, RPMs are high for the first 1-3 minutes and a really loud rattling sound in the engine (sounds like it doesn't have any oil in it). They said they're not getting a diagnostic code and can't figure out where the noise is coming from. They haven't contacted me or returned a call once! I have to keep calling for a status update. So far no definitive answer about the issue! I am VERY disappointed in Toyota!

My friend just purchased a Toyota Camry 2014 on June 23, 2014. He decided to drive the car out of town for the fourth of July. On July 5, 2014, the car malfunction, would not shift out of reverse and accelerated. While the car was still in reverse and accelerating it hit another car. While still in reverse, it went forward at a rate of 40 to 45 mph in a residential neighbor. My friend was able to put the car in park and stop it. The brakes did not work. So far Toyota is stating they ran a diagnostic test, could not find any problems with the car. Next step, is to pull the data box. Note: My cousin purchased a 2012 Toyota Camry. She had problems with gears shifting hard. Toyota was able to locate the issue and fix the problems. Thanks!

We have a 2010 Camry XLE with an extended warranty. The odometer is at 47,000 miles. I recently took it to Big O Tires and had the wheels balance and rotated. I was told the front struts were leaking and the left rear strut was leaking - they recommended replacement. Our warranty indicates the struts will be replaced when I spoke to the service rep at Toyota Fairfield, CA. I then took the vehicle to Toyota in Fairfield and had them look at the struts. Their mechanic said the rear struts were leaking but not the front. So I went back to Big O Tires in Napa, CA and had them raise the Toyota on the rack to verify what they saw. The mechanic, the manager and I witnessed the leakage of the front struts and left rear struts. They showed me the leakage and we signed the work order that had been received by me. I then called Toyota of Fairfield and spoke with Tom (service rep) and explained what was found and observed. He said then that all the struts would be replaced per our extended warranty at no cost.

On July 7 1014, I drove the Camry to Toyota Fairfield to have the struts replaced and the vehicle serviced per our warranty. I took the vehicle in at 8AM that morning and they gave us a loaner vehicle. Later in the afternoon, I called to determine the status of the repair several times but received no call back. I again called at 4:30 that evening and was told the front struts were not leaking but the service was completed. I told them that I would take pictures or a video of the struts with the mechanic at Big O Tires to prove my point and take Toyota to Court if I need to. If the Fairfield mechanic wiped the visible leakage away, I will be very upset and may bring charges to Toyota Fairfield. I will add more to this report when I get the video completed and proceed with legal action as necessary.

I bought a 2012 Toyota Camry last year with 24,000 miles. I have had NOTHING but problems. Back to the garage 8 times in 1 year. It doesn't shift right, or at all; at times, it shifts hard from reverse to drive, lunges forward from park to drive and no one can seem to fix it, or care. I have contacted Toyota multiple times but they don't seem to care at all. I am close to taking legal action or hanging lemons all over the car and driving it like that so everyone knows Toyota makes junk. People trusted you Toyota but you don't seem to be doing the right thing.. Thanks for nothing.

My father bought an '09 Toyota Camry six months ago. Today he picked me up from work at 6 am. The streets were sorta empty, thank God. We were getting home probably two blocks away, when all of a sudden, I feel a jolt and my father yell, "God help us." I quickly grabbed the wheel thinking my father was having a heart attack and his foot was stuck on the accelerator. But I was wrong, the car was accelerating on its own like if it had launch control it quickly went from 30 mph to 75 and going higher. My dad kept pressing the brakes and for the love of God would not stop. I looked over at him.

He quickly slammed the pedal hard and the car stopped so violently. We contacted Toyota. We're waiting on a call back. People, please stop driving these vehicles. This could have been a tragedy for my family. All I can say is, thank You God.

Road and wind noise is over 82 decibel on Highway inside the 2012 Camry at 70mph. Took the said vehicle to dealership. I told them my complaints of a loud cabin 82 dlb. They had the Tech drive the car, which when he returned I was told everything was normal with the car. I asked to talk with the Tech. The Tech said the 2012 Toyota Camry has a loud interior & that I should have bought a Toyota Avalon because they aren't as noisy. Shameful!! I told the Tech it was like the windows were down about a 1/4 inch. Tech told me it's just a loud car.

I purchased a new 2013 Toyota Camry in June 30 of 2013. 3 months or so later, I started getting a very foul, moldy smell from the AC when I first turned it on. I have taken it back 2 times and have had the evaporator box cleaned and sanitized but the smell always comes back. I was told it was due to the humidity and all the rain we got in the spring of last year. They claim it was a circulation issue and that I should run the AC only with outside air, not on recirculating. What a bunch of crap!! Now that I am using the AC again, the smell has immediately started again. Living in Florida the air conditioner is on much of the time.

I am very disappointed in this car. This is my first time I have Toyota but never again. I only wish that I had known about this issue before I bought my car. I will be taking it back to the dealership in a couple of months for a check-up but you can bet this problem won't be resolved. I am very disappointed in Toyota's lack of concern, communication, or action about this problem. I truly believe they either don't know how to fix the problem or it is too expensive a fix. I only hope they realize how many customers they are losing due to this problem and their neglect in addressing it. They do a recall. I bring my car but still same problem.
