Denied a claim due to a "preexisting condition" on my used car we just bought from a dealer. Drove 600 miles and they denied the coverage, and the person that we spoke to was so rude and unreasonable.

I purchased the extended warranty with Route 66 from my credit union back in June or July of 2024. I took my vehicle to the dealer for an oil change and was advised my car needed $2800.00 worth of additional work. My car apparently needed the front-end tie rods replaced, the transmission pan needed to be resealed, the front-end brake caliper was leaking, and the replacement of transmission oil cooler. I informed the person handling my car that I had the extended warranty and provided the information needed to start a claim. Well, the tech calls me back and informs me that none of the work needed for my car is covered because it was a "in-shop" find.
So, unless my car breaks down and I'm stranded on the side of the road, none of the work will be covered because it was detected during a routine maintenance check. The extended warranty is a complete waste of money if it doesn't cover anything considered an "in shop" find. I am about to cancel the service and pray that I can at least get some of my money refunded. A very upset and dissatisfied customer!!!

Route 66 is a horrible extended warranty. I do not recommend it to anyone. Horrible customer service and they don’t grant what the policy covers. My vehicle was in a shop three times in one year for major mechanical issues and Routine 66 was no help. I don’t know what the point of having extended warranty if they’re are not gonna help. I was out of pocket thousands of dollars without their help on items covered by their policy.

I bought the best warranty Route 66 offered. I was told it was bumper to bumper including the drive train. On a trip in early 2025 going down I-95 in Georgia, in our Nissan Murano the motor suddenly stopped. It was very cold and we had no idea what happed but the car would not start. It took Route 66 over 4 hours but eventually we were towed to a Nissan dealer. A long and difficult story made short follows: The radiator had blown which leaked out the antifreeze which overheated by engine thus warping the block. There are no overheating lights on the car, only a small gauge at the bottom. According to Nissan the motor was destroyed and needed replacement. After the damage info and claim was sent to the Route 66 rep he became extremely rude and raising his voice saying that I need to listen better.
I later spoke with another, friendlier person who said they would only cover and replace the radiator. The motor is not covered because I had not kept antifreeze in the motor! So understand their logic, the warranty will cover the radiator that blew a hole and lost the antifreeze however the resulting lack of antifreeze that overheated and destroyed engine is not covered because I didn't keep the engine full of antifreeze as required. This makes it sound like a lack of maintenance caused the problem not the cascading damage to the engine as a result of a blown radiator.
There is actually a sentence in the contract that says is the damage to the motor caused by a lack of antifreeze, (or oil, etc.) it is not covered. That sure protects them from claims no matter the initial cause. Think about road debris damaging your oil pan and leaking oil. No oil, no claim! If you are considering this company I would advise you to run, not walk away quickly. After paying over $2,000 for warranty I had to pay out over $7,500 for the engine replacement. I have so much distain and distrust for this company.

Purchase this warranty through my credit union when I purchased my 18 Chevy Traverse. Within 30 days, my car needed a rearend replaced. I called Route 66 to verify if it was covered and ask what repair shop I needed to bring it to. They said Pep Boys. I asked if going to the Chevy dealer was ok and they said yes. The dealership told me that Route 66 would only cover a used part and the dealership would not install used parts. Route 66 account manager was rude and told me that the contract clearly states they have the right to pick "new, used, or aftermarket parts" and to find a different repair shop. With that statement, it makes me wonder when would they ever pick a new part.
I called Pepboys and a few other shops for service but they too wouldn't install used parts or want to deal with Route 66. I called Route 66 and asked if they could suggest other repair shop but the manager refused because that would hold them liable if the used part failed from their suggested shop. I asked to cancel my account and give me a refund. He didn't care and transferred me to their cancelation dept. I was told I would need to contact my bank to cancel, which took about 2 months to cancel. NEVER AGAIN WILL I FALL FOR EXTENDED WARRANTY COMPANIES!

HUGE RIPOFF!!! It's simple, paid $1800 when I purchased a vehicle in 2021. Paid the vehicle off early in 2025. There was only $832 used while owning the vehicle. They claimed that I used 80% and the cancelation fee is $25. We traded the car in and canceled the policy. They make excuses to illegally keep your money and that's how they work. THEY'RE CORRUPT AND THIEFS!!!

This is the worst company I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. I got my extended warranty on a 2015 Kia through my credit union, so I figured it would be substantial. Wrong. I had the car 1 yr almost to the day and then my engine failed. After some research we found that Kia has recalled the engine on the year before and after, as well as the other engine model for my year, but not my specific model. I tried pursuing a goodwill replacement through them, but we all know how that goes. So I turned to my extended warranty. Keep in mind this happened in April 2025, it is now August 2025 and I still do not have my vehicle. It took them 2 months to approve HALF of the cost of repairs, even though the engine is listed explicitly in my coverage agreement.
The customer service rep I spoke with (Kate) pulled some BS reason as to why they wouldn't approve the work, refused to transfer me to a supervisor, and literally yelled at me several times. We finally got through to her supervisor Derrick after sitting on hold for over an hour and he approved only half of the cost of repairs. Fast forward to now, the shop has completed the repairs and is just waiting on payment and the company now is refusing to pay them. They "need more confirmation that the repairs are complete", but the shop has sent in everything they asked for 3 times with zero response. They are effectively holding my vehicle hostage, potentially leaving me with a 10k total bill if they continue to refuse to pay. I would rather drive no coverage than deal with these rude scammers ever again.

I purchased this warranty through a credit union, thinking it was “good bumper to bumper” warranty….Boy I was wrong! This warranty company is a scam at best! Do yourself a huge favor and don’t waste the money because it’s worthless! Horrible coverage and there is no “bumper to bumper” warranty. My daughter purchased a warranty through Endurance and they just approved $9,000 in repairs on her vehicle. Route 66 wouldn’t cover a module that was $1,600….paid way more than that for the warranty! Please please please beware of this company!

Route 66 will not cover anything, just taking your money. I advise people not to go thru Route 66. Route 66 takes long to get answers or service. People are paying for no coverage, they come out with ridiculous reasons not to cover or pay. I would not even give them a star if I could.

Now it's been ten years but when I did have a warranty with them, they covered everything I needed no questions asked. Subaru OB 2005 wheel bearings failed about every 15k, they replaced them 3 times, no hassle. Just had to pat tax. I'm hoping they are as trustworthy as they use to be, about to get another warranty for peace of mind.

Route 66 Extended Warranty company is a complete scam. I have an extended warranty on my F150 that I had for under 2 years before I started having issues. I parked my truck until I could get it to the shop. The issue was my engine. When I took it to the shop it was 6 quarts low on oil. I have gotten all oil changes and routine maintenance. Route 66 stated that it did not make a difference because it was still low on oil. The oil needle never moved and I had no way of knowing it was low on oil. I have paid for the warranty and it is not worth the paper it was written on. I have had a rental car for almost 3 weeks waiting for them to see the light but corrupt is corrupt. They are in the business of making money not doing what is right. Please use a different company. I wished I would have known this beforehand.

Don't waste your money on this warranty. It does not pay for anything. If your vehicle has any coverage from the maker their coverage starts after that runs out so if your vehicle has 100,000 miles warranty from the maker and you buy their service for 120,000 you only get 20,000 miles in warranty. Read the paperwork they give you. If you buy a car with 10,000 miles you're paying them for 90,000 miles that they won't pay for anything. I paid $1769.34 for 20,000 miles of service.

I always buy the extended warranty. It gives you peace of mind. You can only hope that whatever breaks down is covered. They have only fixed one thing out of 5 times to the shop. I would suggest putting the money you would pay for the warranty in a savings account. At least you you know there will be some help.

My vehicle was put in the repair shop in mid-October 2024 & the claim was emailed to Route66 immediately. After several failed attempts, the shop had to reach the adjuster by phone I finally had to make calls to the adjuster & inquire why the repairs had not been approved. The adjuster immediately phoned the shop & approved the repairs after THREE weeks of ducking & dodging calls. After it was discovered that additional parts needed, the adjuster never responded. The repair shop repaired my vehicle & returned it to because they refused to keep me waiting on a response.
I finally got my vehicle back in mid-February 2025. I submitted receipts of Rideshares that I was told I could get reimbursed for but out of possibly $250, I only received $160 for a three-month period. I had used this warranty company for years on different vehicles but never received such deplorable service. I can only surmise that I was assigned an incompetent, lazy adjuster named Daniel who obviously did not think that it was important enough to get my repairs approved as soon as possible to get my vehicle back to me avoiding months & months of frustration & inconvenience. I wonder how he would feel if his vehicle was in the shop for three months & he had no transportation for work, groceries or essentials. Route 66 should seriously reconsider maintaining his employment with them because he gives their company a bad bad name.

My experience has been terrible with Route 66. My truck has broken down twice from the exact same issue. First time I was charged $990 for brakes they don't cover even though they failed due to axle breaking not wear and tear. This time I'm awaiting a answer after weeks of waiting with no vehicle. I'm not sure what's to approve. The dealership didn't fix correctly the first time and they admit it. LOL. Very frustrating.

On 13 January, 2025 Route 66 denied my claim on a fuel delivery system issue. They stated it was an uncovered emissions issue. The problem is a fuel system issue associated with the fuel tank. The coverage I purchased was stated to be bumper to bumper. I now have to pay out over 800.00 to repair my vehicle. I found out from consumer reviews the following:
Consumer complaints regarding Route 66 warranty coverage often center around claims denials, difficulty reaching customer service, accusations of finding loopholes to avoid paying for covered repairs, and complaints about the company not covering parts that fail due to other related issues, essentially leaving customers with significant out-of-pocket costs even when a covered component breaks down; many users report feeling like the company actively seeks reasons to deny claims.
It is obvious by other reviews they participate in fraud. They attempt to dissect the problems to get out of paying. In my case they say they cover fuel delivery systems but not all of the complex system. The fuel leak detection system is a safety feature which they refuse to cover. The seller of the Warranty, stated they were unaware of the numerous complaints and poor customer rating. They regret promoting a disreputable company and will support my claim of consumer fraud against this Route 66 Extended Warranty. Avoid them, they are very disreputable and will face justice. I attempted to reason with Route 66 but it was not heard.

If you truly want peace of mind, this is the warranty for you! I’ve had several costly mechanical issues with my 16 Sierra and they’ve covered every single one of them no problem! This warranty has saved me more than $5,000.00 in repairs! Glad I went with the Easy Street plan by Route 66! You will be too!!

They deny everything. We bought this for our trailer and bought the enhanced cover everything coverage and so far they have denied every single claim. We used traveling mechanics they recommended when we were not near the deal service center. All 3 times claims denied. When we are at the dealer getting the trailer serviced they deny every aspect of our work external or internal. No matter the repair needed somehow it is not covered with little to no explanation provided as to even why it is being denied.

I had my car “repaired” or better yet not repaired by a shop. The warranty covered the repairs BUT the car was never actually repaired! The warranty company keeps giving me no choice but to go back to the same shop or pay for the repairs out of pocket and have no interest in pursuing the shop in question. This had been going on for over a year now! Do not spend your money on this warranty! They declare that they can’t even give me notes on the times that I have called them and what was said. RIDICULOUS!

Route 66 is horrible. Avoid like the plague. I am now ready to get my repossession started and be $22,601.64 - IN THE HOLE -since Route 66 refuses to do anything or take any sort of ownership for a car I’ve only had ONE year w zero claims, and the engine is totaled by a COVERED ITEM UNDER WARRANTY (head gasket). The car is not old. It is a 2015. It does not have a lot of miles. 70,000mi. I have only had the car one year. And Route 66 refuses to do anything.

Almost at the end of my extended warranty policy, I never made a claim, never needed to thank god. A few weeks ago check engine came on and the car started running rough. Took the car to dealership, it was the transmission. They got in contact with Route 66, explained to them the situation, due to supply issues there was no remanufactured transmission available for my car.
My only option was a new transmission, Route 66 DENIED that option and only offer a used Transmission that they would only warranty to the end of the policy and that wouldn't be too long because I am at the end of the policy and since it a used part the dealership can't warranty the part. Used transmission you don't know if it been serviced or not, the only thing they check it working when they ship. I had to pay out of pocket for the new transmission! This is the worst extended warranty company, please avoid at all cost.

First of all I personally feel Warranty Companies and product warranties are a big rip-off. That being said, I have some input that might be helpful to someone. I had the Car Shield Extended Warranty. I am getting up in age and figured it might be helpful for my wife if and when something happens to me. I told them I wanted to best policy. Well, came time to test it out. I took my wife 2011 BMW 535iX in to the BMW dealer for a bad oil leak on the valve cover and oil filter adapter.
BMW started the process through Car Shield. Turns out that I did not have the best policy, but the Extended Warranty still would not cover the Valve cover leak because it was considered plastic. I asked CS about upgrading to the best policy and they initiated it. Then I found out that the cost of the upgraded warranty was about the same as HALF a new car payment (Bear with me now) but still would not cover the repairs because they were now considered PRE-EXISTING. I also found out that if you turn more than ONE item for warranty that there was a $100 deductible AND each item had to be turned in separately, meaning if you had five items to turn in you had to submit five different claims and pay $100 deductible for each one.
Since Car Shield was now a no-go, I went with Route 66 Extended Warranty. I just got my vehicle back from the BMW dealer. They turned in warranty request for (FIVE) items. The repairs did have to be pre-approved which took longer BUT there was NO deductible, they approved all 5 claims, all were performed at the same time and the only thing I had to pay was the sales tax for the parts.
The Route 66 warranty was about HALF price of the Car Shield Warranty, covered more, NO DEDUCTIBLE, and ALL items were repaired on the same visit. My only complaint, if you want to call it that is that the car rental while my car was being repaired was only covered for 5 days at $40 per day, Maximum of $200. Route 66 Warranty paid out about $6,500 including car rental reimbursement and I am absolutely tickled to death with it. Sure, it took a few days for them to approve it but all is well and I'm still regretting getting hooked up with Car Shield. You needn't expect ANY warranty to jump in right away... it will take time for approval, but I am happy with Route 66.
