I bought a brand new 1999 Mazda 626 in August of that year. I now have to replace the transmission at 85,000 miles 1 month after my extended warranty ended. I did not know that much about vehicles but, I always kept up on everything oil,tune-ups,tires,etc. So when this happened I was pretty surprised, after reading other complaints about Mazda's transmissions I know I am not alone. With all these complaints and vehicles not even reaching 100,000 miles before transmission failure I think Mazda should be held responsible. I now found out that there is a Ford transmission in the vehicle that was made for the lighter, smaller Ford Contour and Mercury Mystique. In complaints on line Mazda said there was a cooling problem with the transmissions but never issued a recall.

I have a 2001 Mazda mpv with 89,000 miles on it. Recently I had the 90,000 miles service performed on my vehicle and within a month my service engine light came on followed with a noise coming from the transmission. I then took it back to the dealership and they want claim that in order to repair the transmission they will have to remove it and possibly replace the parts that were not working. The warrenty has expired and any cost for this work would be out of pocket. Now the reason of my complaint is that I have never had a problem with this vehicle until the 90,000 mile service was done. Recently, i have read the complaint report for mazda transmission and found there are others who have had similar experience's I do not know who i can turn to so that an investigation for a recall can take place. I feel that there is pattern with mazda using ford transmission's on their vehicles.

My wife and I went out and purchased a brand new Mazda RX-8 about a year and a half ago.I (David George)actually researched the vehicle for about 9 months prior to purchase. It was a new production model, its predecessor was the Mazda RX-7. The RX-8 was totally re-engineered and considerably different than the RX-7. This is the reason that there was no information from the public about the RX-8. So, anyways, my wife & I purchased a 2004 Mazda RX8 from Gem Mazda in Tallahassee Florida.

I was very excited and could hardly sleep and at times would walk outside in the middle of the night just to look at it before driving it to work. My excitement quickly started fading from the first tow to the dealership to the next and so on. I have completely fallen out of love with the vehicle. What a huge payment each month for something so unreliable. Gimme a Ford Escort and I`ll be good to go.

Constant problems and aggravation. I want Mazda to buy the car back from me please. I have done a lot of business with them in the past and so has my family. We have owned numerous Mazda`s throughout the years and would like to continue our business together in the future. Something is wrong with these RX-8`s and I just want a refund or swap out for a Mazda 6 and have Mazda pay the amount owed from the blue book value to total amount due.

I have done cartwheels and flips trying to resolve this issue with Mazda and feel as if they are just temporarily fixing the problem knowing that it will just soon be back up there. Currently, today, 12/27/05, it is at the dealership, which it was towed to from my front yard. I told Gem Mazda they can just keep it up there and I will continue to make payments on it. This way it will save time and money from having it towed up there again. Constant recall issues, flooding issues, mechanical, safety, console gets hot, car pulls all over road at certain times with play in the steering column, battery drains quick and will not turn over engine then floods again, time from work, wages lost due to times at dealership. First name basis with local dealership, we see each other so often.

I am very upset. I have a 2000 Mazda 626 LX and the transmission is going down the hill. My car now has 144,000 miles on it, but when it was not still under warranty (up to 70,000 miles) the transmission started jumping around on me. I diddn't realize the transmission was going out or that it needed treplacing. I have since replaced the transmission at 112, 000 and now the control cable which connects to the transmission falls off the rod which shifts gears.

We own a 2004 Mazda6 with a 4 cylinder engine. 37,000 mi. After numerous attempts to have a transmission problem fixed (manual trans would intermittantly not go into gear - not related to clutch)- the car had a catastrophic transmission failure less than 3 weeks following (luckily at very low speed). Regional operations in Irvine decline to authorize repair (outright - final decision). This was decided WITHOUT an inspection to determine causation. The dealer involved (Puente Hills Mazda) would not even inspect problem unless we agreed to an 1100.00$ pre-authorization (inspection only - no repairs). If they determined it was not covered under warranty this charge would apply. Remember now - all repairs have already been declined at the corporate level. The car now sits at their repair facility. The bumper to bumper warranty is for Original Vehicle Warranty Basic: 4 Years / 50,000 Miles Drivetrain: 4 Years / 50,000 Miles Corrosion: 5 Years / Unlimited Miles Roadside Assistance: 4 Years / 50,000 Miles This is transferrable.

I spent 2 months looking for the perfect car for my traveling salesman of a fiancee. I thought I struck gold when I found the 2001 loaded Mazda 626 for around $7,000. After having the care for only 6 months, his transmission went completely out.

Thank Heavens, no one was hurt only his wallet. He spent all of his savings for a down payment on this vehicle. Now we are stuck with $2,300 worth of repair fees to rebuild this transmission. To my surprise when I called the Transmission shop, they were not at all surprised, and informed me this is one of the worst transmissions ever made.So now I am in the process of trying to get a loan for him just to fix his car....that will leave us stuck with 2 loans for 1 car, if he gets approved! Why would mazda continue to use a cd4e transmission if they know they are junk???

I have a 96 Mazda B3000 4x4 truck, (built by Ford) which I 've owned since new. Not built for the long haul in New England and road salt. I've had to replace all brake lines on the truck, (had 2 braking failures). Now rear leaf spring mounts are rusted through and broken. For a truck w/ only 70,000 miles on it, it is falling apart and becoming very unsafe and COSTLY.

Truck has been in repair shop 4 times for brake lines, about $500 dollars for brake lines and labor. Now another $140 in parts for the brackets and shackles to hold the leaf springs on. During 2 previous brake line failures, was able to stop vehicle using emergency brake.

I drove the car about 10 miles a day, very gently, how was that my fault? There were many folks on the net that complain about the same issue, Mazda should have a recall on its transmissions!

I've tried contacting Mazda about this and have had no help or advice. I have a 1995 GREEN Mazda mx6. The paint on my car as well as other GREEN 1995 Mazdas is fading terribly. When I called Mazda they told me because of the age of the car, there is nothing they can do.

I feel that there should be a recall on that year's paint. There is not. I'm pretty sure that if all the other 1995 green Mazda owners put 2 and 2 together, they would notice the problem as well. At first, I thought that it was just my car that was doing this. The more time went by, and more of the paint starting fading, I found that all of the other 1995 green Mazdas were doing this as well. No other colors or year. I think that Mazda should, without a doubt, recall or offer to repaint these cars. I know it has age on it, but if I'd known when I bought the car that only the green ones were going to do this, I would've gotten another color.

I am the owner of a 1996 Mazda Millenia purchased in Sept 1996. In May 2002 the engine suffered a catastrophic failure. The car at the time had 34,372 very well-maintained miles by Mazda's own admission after reviewing the service history. Mazda has agreed to pay 50% of the engine replacment at a cost of about $10,300 including labor.

Mazda's position is that it's a goodwill offer. Following additional discssions with Madza, an offer was made for the balance of the engine. When I attempted further negotioations for the rental, towing and engine teardown, the offer was withdrawn angrily. I have owned 4 Mazda cars in the past 20 years and currently own a Miata as well the Millenia in question. I would think that makes me a good customer. It should be noted that the model in question is the FLAGSHIP of the Mazda line-up, retaling at the time at an msrp of over $32,000.

I purchased a new 2002 Mazda Protege 5 for my son the day after Christmas 2001. The vehicle transmission locked up while he was shifting from 4th to 5th gear while going through an intersection at 45 mph. Mazda alleges it is abuse because of premature tire wear. I have had the subject components: trans., clutch, and pressure plate examined by mechanics with as much as 42 years experience and they cannot believe Mazda didn't cover the repairs.
They say they would have reused the clutch. I have had an attorney review the case. While he believes I have a case - a transmission should not fail in under 7000 miles for any reason - I would have to front the expense for expert witnesses, so I have taken the approach to make other consumers aware of how Mazda has treated me as a customer.

I have read with interest a complaint by David of VA about his transmission. We purchased a 1995 Mazda in 1995; at about 40,000 miles the transmission went out and was replaced by a Mazda dealer. We took the car in for a 90,000 mile service which included a transmission fluid and filter replacement, and the day we picked it up, with about 70 miles on it, a dashboard light began blinking. We took it back and the dealer informed us that the transmission assembly needs to be replaced at a cost of $2400. The 90,000 mile service itself was over $400.

I feel that the transmission in this car is/was/has been defective, this would be the third transmission in 103,000 miles. The lack of their acceptance of any responsibility and the exhorbitant cost to me is appalling.

I bought my 1997 Mazda 626 new and at 87,000 miles the transmission has gone out. Fortunately, I am under the extended warranty. However, after researching these transmissions, I was upset to find that it is a Ford transmission, and there are plenty of people having the same problem with these transmissions. Apparently the car was not designed to adequately keep the transmissions cool enough and they are basically burning themselves up. I will have a transmission cooler kit installed after finding out about this to hopefully keep the rebuilt one cooler.

I am angry that Mazda is not taking any responsibility for these faulty transmissions. They need to know that putting these Ford transmissions in their cars has hurt their reputation tremendously! I will not buy another Mazda, nor will a lot of others out there. I am having to pay for the rental car, however, the warranty company will reimburse me. I feel very sorry for all of the others out there that are out of warranty and stuck with a car that I feel was designed improperly!

One of the spark plugs on my 1999 Mazda 626 ESV6 blew out of car while driving on 4/11/02. I had car towed to Maxon Mazda (where I purchased the car and only place I have my car serviced). Had to call Mazda numerous times to inquire about the status of my vehicle. Was told the repair would cost $2700 because when the spark plug blew out it stripped the engine head. I have not yet been given an explanation as to why the spark plug blew out to begin with.

I was told the spark plugs were supposed to be replaced at 60,000 miles and my car has 63,000 miles. I reported to Maxon Service Dept that the car was running hard/rough well before the warranty expired. Maxon could not find any problems. Instead they recommended that the brakes be replaced. This service was also performed by Maxon.

Bottom line, I believe the problem is a manufacturer/dealership defect. I purchased the car from Maxon, took it to be serviced only by Maxon and have made complaints to Maxon about my car's performance. Maxon refuses to repair the car because it is not their responsibility but yet can not explain how this happened. Mazda claims car was "tampered" with but can not provide proof of any tampering and as previously mentioned only Maxon has touched my vehicle.

Within about 1-2 months of first purchasing this 2000 Mazda 626 vehicle, I experienced a severe vibration problem. Took it back to the orginal dealer who told me that I maliciously damaged/bent all 4 wheels/rims. This car has been at a couple of different Mazda dealerships and tire stores who've stated in writing that the rims are fine.

On 2/20/02, I had all 4 rims/wheels replaced at my own out of pocekt expense, and the problem still exists. I am totally frustrated and fed up with paying money out of my pocket for a car still under warranty and no cooperation from Mazda anywhere.

The Yokohama tires that were put on the Mazda MPV 2000 -- the tire seperated from the belts. Mazda said it was Yokohama's fault. Mazda put a 215 tire on the van when it should have been a 265/215 tire. The van was too heavy for the small tires. Transport Canada has also been contracted about this problem. I have replaced four tire on my one-year-old vehicle. Two tires are Michelin and two are still Yokohama tires. These Yokohama tires will have to be replaced because the same problem will happen.

At Performance Mazda nothing was said when they replaced two of the tires. They just noted that they were not covered under warrenty. Again nothing was said about the wrong size of tires and they put on the wrong size again. We have pay out over $550.00 for tires to find out that all four tires are the wrong size and we will have the same problem with in a year.

The transmission on my 1996 Mazda 626 went bad after only 65,000 miles. Although it was after the warranty, I felt that this was entirely too soon for the transmission to go bad. I have written several letters to the company, but they are adamant about not reimbursing. Since then, I have found out through an internet site that this is not uncommon. There are numerous complaints about Mazda's transmissions. It appears that the company is in denial about the problems, and they are not supportive of their customers.

I paid $2,650 to have my transmission rebuilt. Additionally, I have over a year's worth of car payments to make to Mazda Credit. It's salt in the wound.

In 1997 I bought a 1996 Mazda m-x6 LS During the summer of 1998 I began to notice small scratch-like appearances on the hood. It was in warranty at the time but I was unaware of the causes thinking it to be a cat that I had at the time. I got rid of the cat at the end of the summer months. At the beginning of this summer I took the car to a body shop to get an estimate of repair.

That's when I was informed that it was not cat scratches but that the paint was cracking due to the thickness of the paint. I contacted Mazda and they directed me to take it to a local dealer which directed me to take it to a body shop of their choice. I did and was told to come in his office while he contacted the dealership to explain it was factory paint and it was too thick causing the cracking. They offered to pay 50% of costs since it was no longer under warranty. I felt this was unfair due to the problem being caused from their mistake why should I pay for it?

I wrote a letter to the chairman and got a response of, "I'm sorry, we will stand by only offering 50%." The cost of the repairs at their choice of body shop will be around $600, a small price for them to pay but a unfair price for me.
