My first experience with Lexus of Wilmington was about 3 and a half years ago. I had just purchased my GX470 which had a few months of the manufacturer's warranty remaining. I had the car inspected by my mechanic. He said he noticed a little coolant residue near one of the inlet/outlet pipes and suggested I take it to a dealer to replace the seals at this location. I called Lexus of Wilmington and explained the issue to a service manager. The service manager told me that such an issue was not covered under the 3 year warranty. I then called the service department at Lexus of Atlantic City and spoke with Chuck **. He told me the repair I needed was in fact covered by the warranty. He told me to bring my vehicle in and they'd fix it free of charge. FIXED, done, no charge, free loaner, and my car was clean as a whistle when I picked it up.

A few months ago I filled the tank at the usual gas station. This gas station was closed for a week while they replaced their pumps. I waited until they reopened and then filled up. The fuel I got had a load of metal particles in it. My vehicle began running poorly. I tried to leave it with Lexus of Atlantic City but they had just closed. I had no choice but to take it to the nearest Lexus dealer I could find. I reluctantly left the vehicle with Lexus of Wilmington. They had to drain the gas tank and replace filters and all the fuel injectors. That repair cost $3007.00. I picked the vehicle up and within 50 miles of driving my gas gauge went dead. I took the vehicle back to Lexus of Wilmington.

Their diagnosis was that a part they replaced had, as said to me, (fried) and now my gas gauge too was (fried). I was told that it had nothing to do with the previous repair work. I asked if the previous repair had never happened would the gas gauge have been (fried) anyway. I was told this recent damage would have happened anyway. When I picked up my vehicle I was told the good news that the part they previously replaced in the gas level sending process was under warranty (one of the fried parts). I tried to suggest that perhaps a mechanic made a mistake or a faulty replacement part had shorted out my gas gauge. The service manager reluctantly wrote on a parts sheet (No explanation, poss. power surge from previous repair). The gas gauge remediation required a new dash panel (the whole thing, tach, speedo, etc.) which cost me $1310.20.

I'm not a Lexus mechanic but I believe the facts speak for themselves. Either a mistake or faulty part led to this $1300 repair. Lexus of Wilmington would not entertain the notion that they or Lexus parts should take responsibility for the subsequent repair expense I incurred. The loaners I was provided made me think of trading my vehicle in for a new one.

Although I'm aware that service and sales are not related I cannot bring myself to engage in the purchase of a vehicle from this dealership. I think the ability to explain good experiences or problems with a dealership in a venue like this are invaluable to the consumer. I suggest to anyone reading this that they should keep service and sales separate when evaluating a dealership. Lexus of Wilmington does a good job in their sales (I sent my nephew there and they gave him a great deal) but if you read the service comments only you will see that the quality of their service department's customer satisfaction has deteriorated.

Turned in my leased 2014 GS350 three months early to a dealer in Idaho on 10 June 2016. I leased the vehicle in California. I paid my three months of payments and was told by the dealer that the car was in excellent shape. Two months later, I receive a bill from Lexus Financial requiring that I pay over $230 for excess wear and use. When I called them about it, they claim that the front bumper was cracked and they have posted a picture of it on an internet website. The picture was taken 5 days after I turned the car in to the dealer. I told three different customer service reps that there was no crack when I left the car at the dealership. They don't care. Lexus Financial is requiring full payment, as the last "customer service" rep told me that my contract states that I am responsible for damage occurring to the vehicle AFTER I turn it in.

I called customer service at Lexus Corporate and complained. That representative took my information and placed it in my file, which she said she would do nothing with... which left me appalled. She asked me what I expected her to do with the complaint so I told her that I would expect that Lexus would care enough about a customer who, prior to this issue, was ecstatic about their Lexus experience to reach out and remedy the situation to the customer's complete satisfaction. Apparently, they don't do that. It is sad, because the experience I had with Newport Lexus and Riverside Lexus is now being spoiled forever by Lexus Financial over $230. If they do nothing about it, they are surely a stupid company.

I am very disappointed with this so called luxury brand. I have received 3 different recall letters for parts in my IS250. I had to wait over a year for a dashboard and the Lexus reps seem not to have any idea when I be able to replace my door panels. NOW I have to wait for a new a year for an airbag on top of that, thanks Lexus for keeping me safe. I contacted the corporate office and was told that I shouldn't allow people to ride in the front seat of my car, and in the same sentence was told that I may not receive any other notification until the end of the year first on 2017!!! How can such a well known "luxury brand" be so careless with customers. On top of the that the 3rd rep I spoke to tried to sell me a new model!! First rep hung up on me, 2nd rep stayed silent on the phone like we were high school teenagers, and the 3rd rep tried to sell me a car.

I will never purchase or recommend this shady brand to anyone! Having this car has been nothing but a nightmare. I've also had the same error message come on and the service people have NO CLUE what's causing it, but continue to take my money for diagnoses! When I go in for scheduled service there are never loaner cars, and there have been times where I have been misquoted for services and had to pay more. I am not sure what to do at this point, Lexus has the same problem. Not a Lexus fan any longer. I guess I should start driving Uber since I can only have people in the back seat.

With 89000+ miles, I was told the timing cover gasket was leaking and to replace it would cost $3000+ because the engine must be pulled. I asked what type of gasket would be replaced. The service manager stated that a "liquid gasket" would be replaced and that Lexus does not use a fiber gasket. He also stated that the liquid gasket melts from the heat of the engine and causes the leak which happens quite often. When I checked Toyota I found the company uses a fiber gasket on their timing cover. This is a definite design flaw in the RX 350. No doubt the melting of the liquid gasket contaminates the oil. Because of the risk of the leak to happen again, as soon as I can afford it, the RX 350 will be traded for a Toyota. It proves that Lexus vehicles are high maintenance and too expensive to own.

My car was purchased June of 2006. In 2012 I was on my home my low oil light came on. When I got home I had my husband check my oil and he said there was no oil on the dipstick. He asked if I had just had my oil change told him no. Said thought maybe they forgot to put the cap back on. He looked under the car and there was no sign of oil leaking. I call Lexus and explained what happened and was advised to bring it in. I brought car in and was told there was no sign of a leak. Told them "I know it's not leaking but it is burning somewhere." Said they checked everything and it looks good.

My car continued to have this oil problem and I was putting oil before it was time for an oil change. For the past 4 years I have been putting at least 5 quarts of oil every other month. This has really been a burden to pay so much for a luxury car that's been giving me problems within 6 year old. I contact Lexus Corp which was a lost cause they are no help and do not want to do anything to help me. This could've very well been part of a recall that consumers may have a complaint but was never recorded. If anyone has had or still having this same problem with this year model please respond.

On July 5, 2015 my husband took my car to the Lexus Orland Park, IL dealership to have an oil change. On arriving, the serviceman told him that my car needed other work. My husband already knew that he could not authorize any service on my car without my approval. So my husband called me on his phone and let me speak to the serviceman on his phone. I explained to the salesman that I was headed out of town the following day and did not want to do any other work until I returned. I told him to only do the oil change. He was adamant about my windshield wipers and said that I really need new ones. So I told him only do the oil change and wipers. Minutes later I received an email with a price of $417. I called the serviceman and ask how much was the wipers and why was the bill so high. He told me I needed a 90,000 service and that he went ahead and did it. I told him I did not authorize him to do the 90,000 mile service.

He told me that my husband told him to do the 90,000 miles service. He told my husband, after he got off the phone with me that I said to do the oil change and wipers and 90,000 service. So my husband signed for the work. When I called him to asked him why did he do what I did not authorized him to do, he said, my husband told him to do it. After he got off my husband's phone he lied and told my husband that I had authorized the 90,000 miles service and then lied to me saying my husband had authorized the work. I told him I would not pay for it and I wanted to speak to his manager, but his manager said that there was nothing he could do but give me 10% off because the work had been done. These people are frauds. So do not take your cars to them. They will do work you did not authorize and will keep your car if you can't pay. I will be writing to the States Attorney office, they need to be investigated.

I purchased a 2014 Lexus IS 250 in February. Since buying the car I have noticed the gray spots popping up everywhere in the paint, so I took the car to Lexus of South Atlanta to have them look at it. They told me it was from bird poop, which I knew was not the case since my car stays clean. I had three other people look at the car after that to tell me it was not bird poop causing the paint to do that, that it was a defect with the paint they used to paint the car. Since the car is still under all warranties I call the Corporate office of Lexus and opened a case. Once I was contacted by the case worker I explained the issue to her and she then told me to take it to the closest Lexus dealer and have them do a work order and inspect the car she would then follow up with me. So I called the dealer and set up a time to bring it in.

When I got to the dealer the service manager at Lexus of South Atlanta was so rude to me and told me he could not look at my car due to the rain which made no sense seeing how the car was in the shop not outside. The following day my case worker called and then told me I had to bring it back and try and have them look at it again so that being the 3rd time taking it to that dealership. They took pictures of my car and told me that they would be sent off to cooperate then they would let me know when I needed to bring my car in yet again for the 4th time to have a man from Corporate look at the car.

The following week my case worker calls to tell me Lexus of South Atlanta had contacted her and said nothing was wrong with the car and they would not be fixing it. I asked her who she spoke with. It was the service manager there which he had no part in speaking to me or writing the work order to know what was going on with the car. She was going to close my case since he had called. I complained and she said we can go to the next step and have a man from Corporate look at it.

Finally the man from Corporate was able to look at the car. When we first met and I was showing him the spots he says "oh yeah something is going on here," then ask if we can have a body shop look at it since he was not aware that the whole car had spots. He thought it was just the door and a finder. So we took it to a body shop near the dealership which is one Lexus uses quite often. A few different men that work at the body shop look over the car and say they think it's from a chemical and that it would be $10k to repaint.

The man from Corporate then tells me if it was just the one panel and door he would fix it no problem but it being the whole car they don't feel that it's a paint defect and that they won't fix it. The service manager was trying his hardest to talk us out of wanting the car fixed. Told me my rims would come back scratched, that the value of my car will drop so much that if I traded it in I wouldn't get anything for, but if I was to trade it in how it sits with spots all over I'm sure I would get way less than what I would if the paint was fixed.

I picked Lexus as a car because they are suppose to be nice cars that won't give you problems as long as you maintain them like you should and only owning my since February and seeing how I get treated at their dealerships makes me want to never own one again and to make sure everyone I know, knows how terrible their customer service is. Their cars are not cheap and there is no reason my car should have messed up paint.

I truly think Lexus doesn't want to fix my car because of the price it will cost them. And dealing with their Corporate office is just as bad as dealing with Lexus of South Atlanta. If you miss the call and call back like the case workers ask you to do in the voice message they leave you, can never get in touch with them, and they won't call back for another day or two. I highly recommend if you're considering a Lexus car to look up reviews and do your research because my experience with Lexus in the short months of owning my car have been terrible!

Of 4 Lexus autos I've owned this is my first nightmare. I've talked with dealership in Torrance, CA for over 5 hours and 9 people later; Lexus just no longer cares about their customers. They have lost being #1 in true service. We ordered this nice new RX 350 (build online) and after 60 days kept asking the dealer if he could locate sooner than a 6 month wait. Finally our salesman at Henessey reached out and said he had one but no factory tow package (jet skis). He said one could be added by them after the purchase. Many, many, many conversations later - IT CANNOT be added! Lexus changed the wiring harness in the 2016 RX 350. My dealer should have known this!!!

We are really pissed off in the dealership as well as Torrance but apologize and neither will work a trade since we have titled it, without us coming $4500 out of pocket!! This will be the last Lexus for me, we have learned (burned) our lesson. People are now whispering aftermarket but Lexus has the wiring fix, just won't step up and assign it a part number and make it available for consumers to purchase. Instead anyone wanting their "tow package" in their desired color and interior trim package better be prepared to wait because LEXUS NO LONGER CARES!! The worse 50K purchase I've ever made!

I felt like I was taken advantage of the second I drove off the lot. My negative review is based on visiting Longo Lexus May 2014, after work on a weeknight, to look at the new IS250. I went in to see if I would be able to finance the car, how much I could get for my Lexus ES 350 trade-in, and how much the monthly payment would be, and my goal was to receive a lower monthly car payment. I would've never went in the evening if I knew I wouldn't be given an honest/fair contract due to a rushed salesman.

I was referred to the lease fleet manager Sergio ** (who was interested in me leasing not buying) and he was very nice and helpful, or so I thought. While we were working on making sure my new payment was lower than my previous payment, Sergio started changing numbers that I was not aware of until two years later when I was ready to turn in my lease. My issues with my first leasing experience. While speaking with Sergio I asked for a two year lease; he wrote the contract for 27 months. I requested and paid upfront for any overage miles based on a two year lease; not a 27 month lease, so now I am way over my estimated mileage. I never agreed on a residual value for the car with Sergio.

There was very poor communication on what was being discussed versus what was being written on the contract. Unfortunately timing, feeling rushed by a salesman wanting to head home (I was taking awhile to make a decision), and having no previous knowledge of how to lease a car, I asked my questions and trusted Sergio's answers and signed the contract. Assuming everything we discussed was reflected on the contract.

Two years later April 2016, I knew my lease was coming to an end so I read up on returning a leased car. And started shopping for a new car. I went into Longo Lexus to look at cars and discuss my lease end options only to be told I have four months left on my lease. I said this has to be wrong because I signed a two year lease and made sure to buy enough mileage for two years. The salesman at Lexus said no it's 27 months. I asked him to request for a manager to call me, and no one called. Now the lease is costing an additional $1600 in unplanned monthly payments.

Around that time I was being contacted/harassed by 3 separate salespeople, calling and emailing me about my end lease options. Each one I spoke with, I explained what happened to me, I asked what they could do for me, and what I should do to correct the issue, and if they could escalate this issue to management, and make sure someone contacts me. They all claimed they would try, but I never received any contact from Longo regarding what they are going to do to help me with my lease contract. No one appears to want to help me, I would love to consider an option of returning it and paying the lease end fee and 10 cents a mile (which is what I paid upfront). I would even consider a buy option if I was given a fair residual price.

I know I should not be responsible for paying 25 cents a mile, just because a salesman wanted to give the illusion of creating a great deal/price. I think it is unfortunate that salesmen and managers do not share with consumers how the leasing process works, and all the fees associated with leasing, especially when they're talking them out of buying a car. They do not talk about how much of a pain it is to give the car back/purchase the vehicle/lease a new car. A salesman asks for trust and they want enough information to help you. The consumer gives the salesman too much information, and then the salesman uses it against them. Instead of being helpful, they're friendly so you feel like you've been given a good deal, but they of course make sure they receive the better deal.

In the past few months, I have read a lot about the leasing process, and I've asked better questions, and I understand what was done, and where everything went wrong. I would've liked Sergio to be upfront about what he was doing to get the cost down, versus doing it and thinking I'd be ok with it, just to receive a minuscule lower monthly payment. If he would've been honest with me, I would've known I was given more months in my lease and I would've purchased more miles upfront, or I would've walked. Also if I knew the buy out option was depending on how much the residual value of the car was, I would've tried to negotiate a much better price, and if the numbers didn't work, I would've said never mind, and left.

Also, if they would've said to give the car back it would cost $400+, I would've also walked. But of course Sergio knew that, and made sure not to miss out on getting a car off the lot, and made sure his time wasn't wasted, he appeased me, adjusted some numbers like magic, and the rest is history/an awful nightmare. I should've never been honest with him about what my goal was, because then I would've been given an honest price, and I would've left, because I know my finances and what I can and cannot afford.

I've been stressed out for months, trying to figure out how to pay for all of these additional screw the consumer charges, while trying to come up with more money for a down payment for a new car, so I can get to and from work. No one seems to care, they just want to screw me more, by talking buy-out, or new lease options. No one has yet to reach out to me to address my situation, as if what happened to me is just normal sales practice for all your leases. This makes me very sad, because I thought I liked Longo Lexus, and Lexus in general. I had such a great experience with my ES 350, I thought I would try out a new body style. Worst mistake I could've made. Instead of this being a great positive, referral experience, it's a stressed out, depressing, seek a therapist, experience. If someone, who is willing and able to assist me, could finally reach out to me, and discuss what I can do, I would greatly appreciate it.

I purchased an alleged 2016 lexus gs-350 from lexus of riverside on 4/29/2016. I reported a navigation defect to them in less than two weeks. They did nothing for 6 1/2 weeks and finally sent a dealership car and service tech. We drove both my car and dealership car. In "go home" mode it took us in a round-about manner to a dead end road in a different zip code. Both my car and dealership car failed and went to dead end road but I took my garmin gps in dealer car and it worked perfectly. The dealership refused to do anything and referred this problem to their lexus/toyota headquarters in Torrance, ca. The clerk at the headquarters said we would be put in a "queue" which would take 4 weeks.

I spent hours researching, driving, photographing, documenting and sending over 30 emails to them but just got a letter giving me an assignment to send them documents they already had. I also called their 800# - useless. You get some clerk who only gives a first name and never gives you a case number. I have 1 week left for the 4-week queue, so will probably have to sue them since there is no available for this serious problem and they just delay hoping you go away.

Next I photographed the navigation screen which shows that the navigation micro sd card is dated 8/1/2015 (gen 8) which according to their published literature is only for a 2015 gs-350. At this writing, the card will be 1 year old in 2 weeks and the service manager told me they usually come out around October for about $169. So either lexus sold me a 2015 and changed the date to 2016 or they are using old parts. I had leased 4 lexus ls series before - 1990, 1995, 1999 & 2004. The 2004 was terrible and constantly needed repairs. So I left lexus. But I read the glowing reports by consumer reports and tried the 2016 gs-350 due to its alleged safety features - big mistake.

I received a letter from Lexus today informing me that my two Lexus cars (IS 250 and ES 350) will be recalled at some point in the future due to a defect in the Takata Front Passenger Airbag Inflator. It said the airbag can deploy due to this defect and possibly send metal fragments through the airbag striking and possibly injuring or killing the vehicle occupant. It also said that Lexus is working on preparing a remedy and will send another notification when the remedy becomes available. Then it says "What should you do?" "Until the remedy becomes available, we recommend that you do not operate the vehicle with an occupant in the front passenger seat."

So their solution is to not have us drive with anyone in the passenger seat until some unknown time in the future (1 month? 6 months? 1 year? 2 years?), when they finally contact us to fix the defect. This is unacceptable. How are families that need to use the passenger seat to carry everyone supposed to function with this solution? They need to come up with a short time fix until the longer term problem can be resolved, e.g., remove the deadly airbag in the near term and replace it at some point in the future. We have seat belts that can protect the passenger in the meantime and the seat belt will not kill someone unexpectedly.

My impression is Lexus sent his note because they are more concerned about their legal liability if the defect occurs and less concerned about how thousands families with IS 250 or ES 350 are suppose operate day to day and never use the passenger seat until Lexus determine the best method for minimizing their costs to address this issue.

While in for getting the door fixed rust was noticed on both of the front door seams. We questioned it and had to get in contact with Lexus. My husband talked to Shawn directly at Lexus. They sent someone out to look at my car. Since my car has rust on the seams they will not cover it, as it is not rusted through. Lexus warranty says corrosion or perforation for 6 years unlimited miles.

Since the door was already being painted it would not cost anymore to fix the seam under the door. Shawn told my husband nothing he could do about it and no one else he could speak to. I don't know about you but who wants to spend $40,000 on car that is only 4 years old and it's rusted. The plastic molding can easily be replaced with super glue and attached firmly if the molding was sold separately. One has to buy the entire rectangular side rear window to the tune of $235 not including installation to take care of the problem. The passenger side rear triangle window molding is flapping at 65 mph and is ready to fall off. I was told by the dealership that this is a common occurrence with the Lexus Rx series. They said they have replaced the radio and the antenna and still the static continues. The service department contacted the national technical department and they had no further fixes and said it "works as designed." I have escalated my complaint to the Customer Service center in Torrance, CA. They are now saying they are unable to help me any further. It seems completely unacceptable that a luxury car company would not only make such an inferior product, but that they refuse to acknowledge the problem even though there are numerous complaints found on the internet. I will continue to fight this problem.

I bought a Lexus RX350 - in 2007. At about the same time, needing a vehicle for commuting, I purchased what some might say is the antithesis of a Lexus - a Hyundai, a Hyundai Elantra (2008), to be precise. Here's what happened since: Date Lexus ($50,000 +) Hyundai ($15,000); Oct 12th 2012, Battery failed (32830 mi); Nov 12th 2012, Idler pulley for drive belt failed (36362 mi); March 11th 2014, Ignition coil #5 failed (42891 mi), replaced drive belts (on highway nearly hit by truck); March 30th 2016, Rear Caliper blown (61498 mi - $654.40); April 20th 2016, Ignition coil #6 failed (62562 mi - $ 293.47); April 20th 2016, Dealer diagnosed leaking steering fluid, recommends steering replacement ($1600 estimate - not done yet).

Maintenance items such as regular servicing, brake and tire replacements and such, do not appear in the above list, as also any repairs prior to 2012 (have not kept records). All repairs have been performed at Haldeman Lexus of Princeton, 2630 Brunswick Pike, Business Route 1 North, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648-1000. The vehicle has been run for pleasure, under normal operating conditions.

The failures are premature, and entirely unexpected, at these mileages. The vehicle is a Lexus! In contrast, the Hyundai, surprisingly ran fine at 90000 miles +, with no significant breakdowns or repairs, apart from a battery replacement at about 50,000 mi and drive belt replacement at about 85,000 miles. I provided the above comparison to Lexus - have yet to hear from them. No doubt, it's difficult to accept that a Hyundai can beat a Lexus hands down, in terms of what Lexus purportedly excels at, manufacturing quality. Looks like we should look elsewhere when we go for a luxury SUV next time!

I took my car in for diagnosis, after hearing a low "grinding" sound. He a bearing in the pump was failing and the pump needed to replace at a cost between $2,500 and $3,000. To access that pump, the engine needs to be removed, that takes 16 hours! While you're having that work done, he told me to also have the spark plugs replaced. Get this, the average cost to replace them is $311 to $396. The parts cost is less than $20. The remainder of the cost is labor. I think the costs for doing "minor repair" jobs is ridiculous - whoever heard of removing the engine to replace the water pump (replacing the plugs at the same time, "saves you money"). Before making arrangements for my relocation, I had asked what did I need to do and could I move my car to Maui, what to do at the end of my lease, I was told "nothing to be done, thank you for letting us know, just bring your car to Lexus Maui when your term is up."

Only the dealership where we lease are obligated... Called Maui Lexus, was told to bring my car in, otherwise had to ship it to Lexus Oahu. Brought my car over to Maui Lexus, they don't want it because the return value is not enough for them to resell... Called Lexus Financial and now I am given a much different version from what I was told a year ago. My car cannot be returned to Hawaii. I like everything about the car except: It wasn't until I owned the vehicle that I noticed what feels like a vibration under foot when accelerating from a standing start. There is also a strange noise, which I identify as a groan, when accelerating after slowing down due to traffic or turning a corner. All of this occurs when driving normal not under hard acceleration. Sport mode helps but I don't want to drive around in sport mode. Also, driving the new eight (8) speed transmission is not a pleasant experience. At city speeds it always feels that the transmission is in a higher gear than it should be, causing the engine to lug. I would have thought Lexus would have caught this in testing but, now that the car is released, I cannot believe they are not addressing the issue. This is VERY un-Lexus-like!

My daughter bought a used 2009 Lexus RX350 18 months ago from CarMax. Shortly after purchasing the vehicle she received a recall notice from Lexus that dashboard needs to be replaced due to cracking. She took her car to the local Lexus dealer in Tampa last July and was told that dashboards were back ordered and they would notify her when her replacement arrived. Within weeks cracks started to appear in her dash. Foam started popping thru the dash. My daughter is in sales and frequently transports clients. Her clients are senior executives at major corporations. They all commented negatively about the dashboard. She has heard that she should have bought a (substitute Audi to VW) as she has heard them all.

Her luxury car has become the running joke within her office. She has just been transferred to Houston and isn't taking the car with her as she would have to go the Local Houston dealer and start the waiting process all over again re-registering for the replacement dashboard. She just sold her car back to CarMax for 60% less than she paid for it ($15,000 loss) as they were the only buyer for the car with the volcanic dash.

Lexus customer service has been unresponsive responding that the dashes have been slow to ship from Japan and that their hands are tied. Are we really supposed to believe that it takes more than ten months for a dash to ship from Japan? I believe that Lexus isn't taking this recall seriously as they know that the longer they put off replacing the dashboards the less the recall will cost them as cars will be totaled or sold and some owners will simply give up. I have owned 14 Toyota cars and 7 Lexus cars as I am in sales and trade cars at least every two years. I pointed this out to Lexus but they did not care. They point a finger at the dealers and the dealers point a finger at Lexus. The reality is that they are both giving owners the middle finger.

I contacted Lexus customer service and they scheduled me an appointment with my local dealer (Tri-County Lexus of little falls New Jersey) for an inspection. The dealer took pictures and sent them to corporate. A week later I contacted Lexus customer service and to my surprise they refused to fix the problem. I argued with them and they offered me a $250.00 credit for the inconvenience. Till this day I have yet to use the credit. A year ago I contact my local dealer for a quote on my dashboard and they advised me to wait. They said that Lexus/Toyota is aware of the problem and they will be sending out recall notices. I waited but never got a notice. Later I realized that a recall was issued for the melting dash but it did not include the IS300.

I recently contacted my local dealer again for a quote. I asked them what they recommend I do, either I have my dash pulled out and repainted or I buy a new dash. The service advisor did not recommend I have the dash repainted, saying that the paint will eventually come off - that I'm better off buying a new dash. I asked "What if I buy a new dash and I run into the same problem I'm having now?" He did not have a answer for me. He's said that he will call me back. Till this day I have yet to receive a callback. I've called several times and every time I call I'm told that I will get a callback. I am very disappointed with Lexus/Toyota. I am unsatisfied with the service they provided. I feel that all of this could have been avoided if Lexus/Toyota had just included the IS300 in the recall. All cars have problems, but before you purchase take a look at some of the issues in the BMW section... Valve guide seals ($4k), evaporator cores ($3k), coolant leaks, multiple window regulators, transmission issues, a/c issues, water pump issues, electrical issues and even engine bolts that break off! The list goes on and on. Just do a Google search. And these are with BMWs with 50,000 and 60,000 miles. I hope that my story will convince people to do their research and at least consider the Lexus brand.

I bought my Lexus GS400 in 1999, and now at 16 years old and with 215,000 miles in my opinion it is one of the most reliable vehicles ever built. If you do some research, the 1UZ-FE V8 engine produced by Toyota in the late 90s (and used in the GS, LS, Tundra, LX, etc.) is one of the most bulletproof engines ever made. It will pretty much run forever. There are vehicles with this engine on the road today with 300,000, 400,000 even 500,000 miles and more. Even though it has evolved somewhat, it is still pretty much the same V8 motor used in Lexus vehicles today. That should tell you something.

Now to my vehicle. In the first 5 years of ownership, I didn't have a single problem with my car. Not one. I replaced a battery, but that is something you would do with any car. In the 6th year, the throttle body assembly needed repair, but not a big deal. In the 10th year my starter contacts went bad (they go bad in all cars) and my alternator went out (again, expected for a 10 year old car!). Other than that it's pretty much been regular maintenance: oil changes, tires, brakes. In 16 years I have never changed the spark plugs!! They are original. I've driven up and down the east coast and this car has never left me stranded.

Again, do your research and choose wisely. Today, KBB values my car at about $5-6k (it was $46k originally) but it doesn't matter because if someone wanted to purchase it today I would say it's not for sale. I am keeping this one. I'm sure I'll purchase a 2nd vehicle one day for fun - maybe a convertible - and guess what brand that will be? A Lexus of course! Even then I'm not trading in my GS400 - this car is staying in my garage.

As usual, I am up-to-date with the maintenance schedule on the car and the maintenance is always performed at the service department of the dealership. A few days back, while driving, I noticed the hazard sign turned suddenly on and check hybrid system was flashing. Among the things that I noticed were the failure of cars cruise control and the SOS light turning red.

I immediately took the car to the dealership service department, who diagnosed it as the failure of the airbag ECU. The replacement cost me $995.42. My service consultant at the dealership is a very nice gentleman, who said that there was no specific maintenance for the unit. That suggested to me that the unit on the car was defective and Lexus should be replacing it free of charge, but they did not. I have heard that computer malfunctions are not uncommon on the cars made by Toyota Motors. Getting close to 50 years old, I decided to purchase a "reliable, safe, easy to service car that will last until I can no longer drive." Bought a 2004 Lexus ES 330 with only 18K miles, certified pre-owned. Online reviews were glowing, mechanics said, "You'll be bored, but just have oil changes up to 100K miles." Hah! At 20K miles, the dealer insisted that I needed new brakes ($1500?) ''before they score the rotors." Having owned MBZ, Jaguars, Alfa Romeos, and other temperamental exotics over the years, I am familiar with cars and when things should fail. I took the Lexus to an independent mechanic, and found the brakes were almost new, good for another 20K miles, at least (did brakes at 50K for a reasonable price). Scratch dealer servicing forever. The Lexus was always a compromise... noisy, rough ride compared to the Jags and MBZ, but I figured reliability and no drama was worth it.

At 65K miles, struts started leaking... $1,000 ($3000 at dealer). I let them leak. Now, 70K miles, right after an oil change using synth-blend, not full synthetic oil, the valve cover gasket started leaking. Repair is $1,300, which includes timing belt, water pump, pulleys, etc... Cheap, compared to dealer, but still 25K miles too soon. Minor problems, but it seems that prices for simple maintenance on these Toyota/Lexus cars has grown to be as expensive and frequent as the exotics used to be. Might as well lease a BMW or Alfa with full service plan included, and flip it every 3 years. That, or an old classic that increases in value as it gobbles up your wallet in repairs. Like they used to advertise, "You asked for it, you got it, Toyota." I sure as ** did! Nothing special about Lexus. Anyone want to buy a well maintained 70K mile ES330 needing 90K mile service and struts?

First... Let me say that my Lexus dealership is fantastic. They were available and worked hard to solve my problem. That being said... My problem was with Lexus' Roadside Assistance Program. At 6 pm I hit a rather large pothole with my CT200 which resulted in a flat tire. I got myself to a place out of traffic and called my dealership who told me I could call Lexus Roadside Assistance and gave me the # and transferred me. The call rang and rang... Finally someone picked up... Asked me if I was in a safe location (I responded yes) and said ok... She was going to place me back on hold, they just wanted to initially make sure I was not in an accident and was in a safe location. (My impression was high... Its a good process).

I was then on hold for 20 minutes! I hung up and called back... Went through the same process... Another 15 minutes later I repeated my process and when the safety person answered the phone I asked him to please not put me on hold that I had been waiting for a while to speak to someone. He arrogantly told me that my situation was not priority and they were getting slammed with accidents and put me on hold.

I called my dealership for advice... They were baffled and suggested I call AAA... I also ask them if the service manager who has ALWAYS been helpful, could give me a call when he got a chance. I hung up and called AAA and placed the request. In the meantime the service manager got hold of someone at Roadside Assistance and conferenced them in to me. At first the client service rep was seemingly irritated, but then calmed down and took my information and told me he'd call AAA. I told him I had already done that. I must say that the ticket placed by Lexus was answered prior to my personal call to AAA, which is another matter, but I waited and AAA showed up and took care of my problem.

While this is not as big an issue as others have had and I was not in danger... Merely irritated... I do have to speak to their customer service representatives and the process they have in place. They do have a system to find out the urgency of each callers situation, however, from a provider of high end luxury cars, the service seemed to stop there. Perhaps those who were having a true emergency received stellar service, but I should have too. Once it was determined that I was safe I shouldn't have had extended wait time to speak with someone... I was a woman, alone in a disabled car, in a not perfect location at dark. I should not have had to wait for over an hour to finally get in touch with someone for assistance.

I would have preferred that Lexus' process took into account that everyone calling them needed to be attended to in a timely fashion. It seems they have attempted to create a process, it just doesn't work well for non-emergency consumers.

I have owned an 2000 Lexus ES 300 for about 4+ years now and it is very reliable. Leather and other interior pieces are holding up well. Paint is still in good condition, no peeling, considering this car hasn't been garaged. It has been holding up well considering it now a 15 year old car with 201,000 miles on it. Only 1 problem in 4 years is the Traction Control sensor malfunction which is a common problem for this model. Other than that, really happy with the reliability of this car and would recommend it.

I bought a Lexus GS 350, new in 2008. I previously owned (2) Lexus GS 300 and had not major problems with either. I bought the 2008 because I knew I was retiring, would be traveling (out of town parents/relatives) and there were such great reviews as it is now about the car: reliability, safety, craftsmanship. I maintained my car well, especially the oil changes, every 4,000 to 5000 miles. I had an oil change in Feb 2014, 86290 miles. On April 7, 2014, "Low Engine Oil Level" light came on (89676 miles), a total of 3,386 miles. I was told that the car was getting older and to "check it and add oil if needed."

May 21, 2014 the light came on again (92,847 miles) a total of 3,171 miles. And the list goes on! Of course the consumption tests says "within consumption levels." I now have 121,817 miles on the car as of today. I'm adding a quart of oil about every 2 weeks. I had the oil changed today 11/3/15 (**), and they wrote on the ticket "oil level low prior to service." Let's see how long it will be before the light comes on again!

I'm sure Lexus knows there's a problem, no car just burns oil for no reason. I wonder are they telling those buying their cars that there's a "Consumption" problem after so many miles??? Probably not!! I have two friends, one with a GS 300 and the other a RX 300 that are having the same problem. I have a 1989 Mercury Marquis, within excess of 225000 miles, and I've never had to add oil between oil changes. Nor has my husband who has a 2006 Ford Expedition with 148000 miles!! Something needs to be done and Lexus should take responsibility for this problem. Let's try to get it out to as many people as possible. If someone has a lawsuit in progress contact me, **. I'd like to join the suit!!! I'm 68 years old and shouldn't have to purchase another car; it wouldn't be a Lexus if I did!!!

Bought a 2015 GS 350 car. Was over 50k and not fully loaded. The bad interior colors are all black unless you get a white exterior or black exterior. Then you get the option of only a few interior lighter colors then deep black. Second Lexus engineers destroyed the navigation system by taking away touch screen and installing a mouse to click 1 letter or number at a time, 10x slower than the old touch screen. Also their talk in navigation does not work half the time because it's affected by AC or radio noise. It's real garbage, a $150 tom tom is faster and better. They did this to save money. It will be gone next year or so. Also the geniuses at Lexus actually have a knob that pipes in engine noise into the cabin like it's a high powered corvette, ridiculous.

Now for the ride. It's rough because their 18'' rims and little tire contacting road so you feel every little mild bump. Also the rims are dull cheap looking fake silver. Really ugly. The backup camera is fair but no front camera because they raised dashboard height to accommodate junk navigational. Now you can't see past mid hood creating blind spot of front distance of car to an object. Very little contrasting color on door panels or dash just a fake chrome colored clock. And the six stack CD player is gone now also with a basic 1 CD insert and a few speakers average sound. Then to turn on accessories like windows, wipers, radio etc. You have to go through a crazy touch button twice while foot on brake pedal. Yes you can get satellite radio for a fee plus to use through the junk navigational will take 5 minutes to move a mouse for station.

Then they got Lexus Enform built in with your navigational where you can pull car over and play with mouse to make dinner reservation, concerts, etc. It's idiotic just read up on the reviews of Lexus Enform. Use your cell to call a place you want reservations. It is 20x faster. Also the car engine with the dual exhaust is noisy as hell. Your neighbor can hear the motor running 3 doors down. I have a 2002 Lexus so this is how I know where the mistakes are in the new car compared to the 2002 GS 300 model which is so much better designed than the new 2015 junk. Also premium gas only and lousy mileage. I would have looked at other cars but my wife loved the old Lexus so she thought the new one would have the same nice features and smooth ride. No way is this plastic car worth more than $38,000 not 53k.

So what is better on the Lexus 2015 versus 2002? Nothing to be honest. Has a few more useless steering wheel gadgets, that's it. So what do I like about it? Just increased engine power for passing. If you're thinking about buying this model take it on the freeway and some side streets with a few bumps then you'll pass. Car was new when we bought it but had 90 miles on it telling me about 15 people test drove it then passed. I bought it from the liars at Keyes Lexus and they have some real trashy middle eastern hustlers that worked there. It was 5 hours of lies before I regretfully bought from the low class staff. Here's how much profit they make on a 53k MSRP car about 8-9 thousand so now you know what price they'll sell it at.

Also the liar sales manager hustled my wife into an added warranty for 2 extra years only for $2800. Huge rip off. After we bought warranty the sales people said all new Lexus's come with a 7 year engine & trans warranty and 4 yr. 50,000 on the other parts. Before you buy look at Acura, Cadillac, Honda, etc. Also don't buy it if it has a mouse for typing and no touch screen. Last thing the door handles are painted silver but made of PLASTIC. For $53,000 3 stars overall is correct rating. The end!!!

We bought our 2000 Lexus RX300 brand new in Sept 2000. As Lexus was worried about the impending release of the Acura MDX, we got a few hundred dollars below-list price. Starting in 2009-2010 period, the windows began failing, i.e. the up/down switches no longer worked in the front windows. Then the door locks started failing. Now whenever I lock the car 1 of the 4 doors randomly does not lock and I must walk around the car manually locking all the doors. Note that this is WORSE than no door locks at all because unlocking the front door by key or by switch tends to unlock all the doors, meaning the car WASTES my time. We have had several incidences on a long trip where the window got stuck down and you have to drive home with the driver and/or passenger window open. Lexus wants $500/door to replace the $5 servo motor, because the doors are extremely poorly designed and literally take 4-5 hours to disassemble and reassemble each one!

It was the final straw when the antenna motor failed and I had to remove 28+ nuts and bolts and disassemble the ENTIRE rear cargo area just to get the dang thing out! Lexus is so arrogant they think their $5 motors and $10 antennas never break, so the car is actually VERY POORLY put together and not easily maintainable. We never seek Lexus dealer service because they charge 2x what our local Asia car-mechanic costs, and they have junior techs! Beware!

In 2008, we purchased a new 2008 RX-350 from a Portland area Lexus. Prior to purchasing the vehicle we spent months researching the Lexus brand, reliability and customer satisfaction. We are over 3 hours away from the closest Lexus dealer. Having heard and read mostly good reviews, we opted to purchase the vehicle described. We have taken excellent care of the vehicle and all of our maintenance has been maintained current by our only local Lexus family Toyota dealership in our area. The vehicle has never been in an accident.

Seven years later we have had several unexpected repairs required to keep the vehicle running. First was the NOC sensor (slightly under $1000). Second was the rack and pinion (slightly over $1000). And the latest was a transmission replacement. The vehicle is just outside the powertrain warranty. The total costs of these repairs has been over $7200. Even the local Toyota service representative said this should not happen with this car.

I have contacted the Lexus goodwill assistance number and they agreed to pay for the parts for the latest repair. While that is good of them, it is my opinion that the loyalty of Lexus belongs to their company rather than their customers and they certainly choose not to stand behind their luxury product. It is disappointing Lexus does not show the same loyalty to its customers when excessive repairs are required to what should have been a more reliable vehicle. I would like others to be aware of the Lexus quality of service and loyalty and recommend that you buy a car from Honda/Acura whom we have had excellent service from and been shown truly good loyalty and certainly stand behind their product.

I went to Lexus to check on recalls but nothing there. They say there are no problems, no recalls. Sounds like a safety issue to me. If I was ever in an accident I don't think the occupants could get out of the car. Lexus has denied warranty coverage on our car without any reasonable explanation, and ignored our request to provide reasonable explanations. In November 2013, we purchased a certified pre-owned Lexus that came with a 3-year warranty. At the time of purchase, the front bumper was slightly misaligned, with a small gap between the main body and the bumper on the driver side. Over time, the front bumper kept getting loose, making the gap very wide. Also, a gap started appearing on the driver side of the rear bumper.

After ignoring several e-mails and phone calls of ours, Lexus requested us to have the car inspected by the service manager of the dealership where we purchased the car. At the time of inspection (August 13), the service manager looked puzzled and said that he would send the pictures and the description of needed repairs to Lexus. On August 19, the service manager informed us by phone that Lexus denied the warranty coverage because the problems were determined to be due to external causes. This argument, however, has no foundation because there is no trace of an impact on either bumper.

On the same day, we sent the case manager at Lexus an e-mail requesting her to answer the following three questions in writing: (1) There is no trace of an impact. (I don't think the service manager found any trace of an impact. Let me know if he said otherwise.) What kind of external cause would make the bumper seriously misaligned without leaving a dent or scratch? (2) I understand that nobody can rule out the possibility of a minor contact on the bumper, such as a contact by another car at a speed of 2 MPH while the vehicle is parked. However, bumpers are supposed to withstand moderate impacts, not to mention minor impacts. If the bumper got seriously misaligned by a minor impact leaving no dent or scratch, shouldn't the manufacturer be responsible for it? (3) How can you rule out the possibilities of defective factory assembly or defective repair/replacement by the previous owner?

By phone, the case manager told us that she could only send us a generic denial letter. The letter sent through e-mail simply says, it has been determined that the repair needed to the bumper is due to an outside influence. If they were allowed to deny warranty coverage without any reasonable explanation, they would not have to honor any warranty coverage. We are pursuing this matter through various channels, and we will update this as we get results.

When this happened to my Lexus RX 330, I vent to my Lexus dealership (where I purchased new this vehicle) and learned that Lexus will cover the window but not the labor for replacement as the vehicle is not under warranty. The tiny shiny molding which was not attached in proper way is not made as a spare part- the whole window has to be replaced???

I did call the Lexus satisfaction line and a Case manager called me the next day to tell me the same thing - my vehicle's body part falling off is not covered under warranty. I asked her what is the next that I will loose while driving. And I thought the LEXUS makes high quality vehicles and will be doing right thing to maintain it's reputation. I purchased my Lexus 2009 RX 350 USE from a Lexus Dealership with Mileage around 35,000/-. Three weeks back when my wife was Driving car to work in the Morning after 10 min of Drive VSC light came up, and after a mile or so Check Engine Light Came up. By the time she stopped the car to Safe place, Car interior area started smelling like burning rubber. She stopped the car and get it towed to nearest local mechanic place. I gave call to Nearest Lexus dealership and asked them about the Issue and if that would be covered by Lexus Warranty. To my total surprised, they declined covering under the warranty because Powertrain warranty expired on Bases of Time of First Sell (72 Months or 70000 Miles). They argued that even though car mileage is still under Warranty period, Since Warranty Expired Four months ago, they would not cover it. Dealership asked me to take this to Lexus Customer Care.

I called Lexus customer care and explain them the potential safety concern about sudden water pump failure without any prior indication and asked them if they would cover due to the fact Mileage is still under the warranty limit and close proximity to warranty expiry time limit. I was asked to get vehicle to safe place and wait for Manager to get back to me within three days (By Friday, Incident happened on Tuesday). I waited for call from Lexus but no one returned call till Friday end of business day. I called back and asked to Speak to Manager over there. First of all when she (Vicky) came on call, she had no Idea what issue I was referring to, because she started talking about some Oil pipe failure etc. I had to repeat entire story again, which shows that they didn't even look at my case even though I was told that someone review it and get back to me.

Talking to Manager (Vicky) I tried to explain since it's part of powertrain and problem existed even "Under the warranty" period and I don't have direct control over its failure, it's clearly indication of bad quality of engine and parts. The most important part is safety hazard of car catching fire due to overheating. Lexus Customer Service stick to the three months over the powertrain warranty and refuse to take any accountability. I was asked to tow the vehicle to nearest Lexus dealership which is 30 miles away from where car is stalled. I asked Lexus about some level of assurance on warranty coverage but they keep on saying "We cannot give you assurance of any help at this point." They will talk to Lexus dealership and then only consider this for help.

I called nearest Lexus Dealership and asked for the estimation of water pump replacement, they quote me $1200+. Considering towing expense (about $300), hefty dealership cost and absolutely no assurance from Lexus Customer Service, I decided to get water pump replaced at the Local mechanic place where car was pulled over for diagnostics. I paid complete expense out of pocket and filed reimbursement claim with all receipt and documentation. To my total surprise, they declined the claim based on the fact that it wasn't replaced at Lexus Dealership. I swallowed this poisons pill and decided to move on. After three days of driving around (all together less than 100 miles), check engine light came on with VSC light. Took it to same mechanic who replaced water pump and he said it's nothing to do with water pump. Now engine is misfiring and heating up.

Since it sounded like major problem, I called Lexus Customer service and ask for help in this. I was again asked for to take it to Dealership which I did. Primary diagnostic from Lexus dealership pointed to structural damage to Engine due to premature water pump failure and advise me to replace whole engine, which is huge expense. My bases for taking this to claim is : Water pump is part of Powertrain and has no influence by driving pattern. Failure of water pump at 61000 miles is very premature and indicate toward inherent problem with engine and related components.

Safety Issue: There was no sign of water pump failure until last moment when it actually gave up all of sudden. There was very little time before Check Engine lights came on and further damage due to overheating. If it was ignored for couple of miles car would have caught into fire. Powertrain warranty is 70000 Miles or 72 Months, whereas cars mileage is 61000 and time since first usage is 75 months (just 3 months over the warranty). Considering close proximity to warranty expiration, Lexus should consider this for warranty extension. This Engine series is infamous for cooling system issues and several service bulletins have been issued regarding it. Several complaints have been filed about the similar problem, where water pump failure and subsequent engine damage.

Now I had to bring it in for my first free 5000 miles service. I drove 1 1/2 to Atlanta thinking they were going to do the first oil change. When I get there they tell me it is not for an oil change. That my vehicle because it is the F Sport doesn't require an oil change until it reaches 10,000 miles so all they did was check the fluids and the minimum service supposedly required. Now I just took it in for my 10,000 mile service and they do the first oil change. I ask Colby what oil they use, the blend or the full synthetic and he tells me he used the full synthetic. The full synthetic would not require me to change the oil until the following 10,000 miles but when I leave the dealership and I look at the sticker they place on the windshield I notice it requires me to change the oil in the next 5,000 miles. I do not understand.

So I am guessing they used the blend and not the full synthetic. Not only that, when they give me the paper stating the car was complete and I go out to get my car I see a young gentleman jump in my car and drive off on it. I ask one of the person at the service desk why did they take my car again and she starts trying to contact and find out who had it. A couple of seconds passed and here they bring it back to me. As the young gentleman comes out of my vehicle he states he had left something inside my vehicle and had to get it, but why just not open the vehicle and take whatever item he had left inside instead of driving off on it?

Now 10 days later my maintenance light comes on stating my car is due for an oil and filter change. I called the Lexus service department and they tell me they forgot to do the reset and that is why the light was coming on so they guide me on how to do it through the phone. I am really disappointed about the service provided here. Don't know if they just didn't care because it was the first 2 free services provided to me. Honestly I love my Lexus but I am not sure if I will drive another 1 1/2 to just get a poor service done on my vehicle. Will probably just use a Toyota dealership here in my area.

When I asked why they were doing so, the answer was "because we can." Ultimately, they wore me down and I said - "Forget it. I won't turn my vehicle in to you and I'll buy it out." I did so knowing that I would never buy a Lexus again. Recently a friend of mine asked me about cars - knowing that I had been a loyal Lexus customer. I convinced them not to buy a Lexus and when they agreed to defer to my advice, I knew that I was finally getting back at the folks at Lexus. I will continue to do so - why? Because I can!

I recently bought a 2014 Lexus LS 460. Whenever it rains or the car is washed and I open the trunk, water drips out of the side of the trunk, and drips water into the trunk compartment. I took the car into to the Lexus dealership and they said it is a design flaw and cannot be fixed. Besides getting the inside of the trunk and contents wet, long term I expect it will cause premature rust and increase the potential for my rear lights to malfunction. Any experience with resolving this issue will be appreciated.

I currently own a 2013 G'S. Initially, customer service was great until I had an issue with what should have been a routine fix. The problem is consistent throughout the lineup with the speaker performance. The door speakers are outperformed by the center channel and satellite speakers. The problem wasn't necessarily the manufacturer defect, but the treatment by the service staff. I'm surprised a class action lawsuit hasn't taken place against Lexus for refusing to honor items covered under warranty or acknowledgement of the problem.

To sum it up, the ten speaker layout in the 2013 Lexus GS 350 has a defect in the system. The voice coil in the door speakers malfunctions causing feedback to the channel. Today, I make my stand and refuse to be insulted by Lexus any more. Pursuit of perfection? Please adopt a new slogan. This is a brand I will never affiliate myself with, and yes never really means never.

Brought it in and Dealer said it was not "leaking" so it would not be repaired "under warranty". To add insult they suggested we should "Test drive" a new model (joke).

I just recently purchased a Certified Pre-Owned 2012 Lexus RX350 with only 13,000 miles on it from Lexus of Monterey, California. As soon as I took it on the highway at over 60 miles per hour, there is a loud wind noise. It sounds like the passenger window is open, even though it is not. I have taken it back to the dealership 2 times, and they just tell me there is nothing wrong with the windows or the seal. They say the RX 350 is an SUV and just louder than a sedan, and to just get used to it. This is such an illogical argument. I have owned 3 different SUVs in over 30 years, and have never heard wind noise like this.

I went online and there are hundreds of the exact same complaint about the "wind noise" in the Lexus RX350. Yes, I agree, as others have said on this site, there needs to be class action suits brought against Lexus. This is ridiculous to pay this kind of money for a supposedly luxury car and have a loud wind noise issue. And from what I have read on this Consumer Affairs site, there are many more serious negative issues with the RX as well. I am trying to get my money back and will not buy another Lexus.

In June of 2014, I leased a new 2014 Lexus GS350 F-Sport. Well starting around 1700 miles the car started having issues such as warped rotors and the rear power sunshade decided when to retract and deploy on its own. Then a couple of months later, the real issues started with the car. I would go to get into the car but it wouldn't start. The engine would act like it would turn over and start but it wouldn't. Sometimes it took up to 10 tries to get the car started. Sometimes it just would go to accessory mode without even attempting to start. So needless to say, the car has been back and forth to the dealer for multiple electrical problems.

Here are the biggest examples: Obviously, the non-starting issue. The power retractable steering wheel and power seat took me on a wild ride while driving down the road. The power rear sunshade still has a mind of its own. The Lexus Parking Assist senses things are there when nothing is actually there and then sometimes they decide not to work at all. My Navigation System crashing and rebooting while driving. Horrible squealing with the brakes, etc.

The car has been in and out of the service department for all the electrical issues and they can't find the reason for the car not starting or any of the other electrical issues. The car only has about 7600 miles on it and it's currently in the shop since May 11, 2015. I'm getting quite annoyed and concerned that Lexus would produce a $60,000 vehicle with these types of problems. They are known for their reliability, craftsmanship, safety, and state of the art cars -- I beg to differ. I am just waiting to hear back from the dealership to get the next excuse of why they couldn't fix the car. Needless to say, this is my first and last Lexus. I just want Lexus or the Lexus dealership to buy back this horrific lemon of a car and give me my down payment back. There are better options out there.

It has been the best car I have ever owned and never had a major expense. In fact all I have done since 2001 is put a starter in it at 151,000 mi. A broken trans. mount ($275), a rack and pinion, a cereal cable I broke, and an interior brake light bulb, 2 timing belts and two sets of iridium spark plugs - and the usual brakes, rotors and Mobil1, etc. I have never taken it to a Lexus dealer to get "Charbucks" and Bagels! I expected the same or better from an LS460L 15 yrs. newer ! Boy was I ever wrong.

Now I have to replace both upper and lower front control arms or bushings The dealer wants $585 for ea. control arms or you can order after mkt. on EBAY, (i.e: two control arms for $189, which I did and they were put in at a shop for $180). The dealer quoted on 2/1/2013 - was $1875.81 parts plus $585 labor = $1460.81 + tax. It cost me with overnight postage from NY to Apple Valley, CA - UPS $115, parts $189, labor $180 = $393 TOTAL. The labor took two hrs. and $89 for another alignment. I still need the rear control arms put in as it is not in specs. Still!

I just took the car on a road trip 3000 miles and had no problems. However the rear control arms still need to be replaced and the bushings are available on eBay for $49 for both sides, or you can pay the Lexus dealer $123.85 x 2 for control arms for both sides rear = $247.70 and $541.57 x 2 control arms - both sides 4 total $1330.84 + LABOR (?) + tax.

Since then, there have been multiple issues for which I've needed to take the car in for repair: wobbling wheels, air leak due to poor tire-rim adhesion, several times in to have the battery replaced then finally learning I need a new alternator. The issues with Lexus are: lack of doing a proper inspection at time of sale, multiple problems with car, lack of doing a proper diagnosis/repair job, profound staff turnover, subsequently leading to my not knowing anyone at the dealership anymore.

Whenever I call the service department to speak to someone, either there is no answer at all or I have to leave a message and then call back because no one has returned my call. I want to sell my car asap, but no one will buy it because of its enormous repair history. I complained to Lexus of Ann arbor before that this car is a lemon, and there isn't anything that has been done about this. In summary, I will never, ever buy another Lexus, nor will I recommend anyone buy one. if Lexus did the right thing and bought my car back, that might change this equation, but it is fairly obvious they don't care about satisfying customers like me; rather, they merely wish to push a new sale.

My '13 Lexus always leaks and it has been to the dealership five times to figure out why. I even called them one morning on my way to work because rain was leaking in the roof. I was informed yesterday that the dealership got Lexus involved and that their response was that their car is not designed to go through a high pressure car wash and that it could not be fixed. I was shocked and terribly disappointed by their response.

None of my previous cars, nor any of our friends or family who have cars with sunroofs have had a problem at this car wash, but Lexus can't design their car to go through leak free!? If they fixed it or told me they were still going to try and figure it out, it would be a little easier to accept, but to tell the consumer that essentially their car is not built well enough to withstand the same conditions as every other make and model out there indicates to me that it is not fit for operation and not worthy of its price tag!

My car would "rough" idle occasionally, and it began eating oil several years ago. Numerous oil consumption checks, and many, many trips to the dealership. My check engine vsc light came on 1/5/15, something that had occurred previously on multiple occasions, and I immediately took it to the dealership. Was told I NOW need the engine misfire repair, which to my understanding includes replacement of the pistons.

Lexus Satisfaction has to get involved after the request for the repair from the dealership was denied by Lexus because the car is now 9 years old (which coincidentally just occurred). The engine misfire repair will be performed as long as the car is less than 9 years old. I then battled with Lexus "Dissatisfaction" and was ultimately informed they would not compromise on their decision. It is truly a very disappointing decision. Well, there is no chip in the glass but there was a chip on the top of the roof that had taken a large chip out of the paint. The hit was in alignment with the latch where the top fits into the windshield area...of course being a female, it was clear that the repair manager was right and I was wrong... we are treated different even in 2015. There is no hit on the windshield and due to my experience as an insurance agent for 30 years and having taken glass repair classes, I strongly feel the cause is a stress break caused by the roof structure and the design where the convertible top meets the windshield.

Obviously out of warranty and fully covered. They even offered to do any other repairs they find while doing the repair at the cost of the part cost only. I was truly amazed at the depth they would take care of a used vehicle not bought from that dealer, out of warranty, and the issue almost never happened that I was aware of. Above and beyond to say the least. Very impressed with Lexus and that dealer.

So far this year I have paid almost $4,000 for repairs including new tires, new struts and tire alignment (twice - first time alignment did not work). When I looked this up and read some of the reviews, it appears I have company for this issue and others like the dashboard cracking, headlights, etc. I don't know what to do now - fix it and hope the problems stop or cut my losses and trade it in. In any case, I think that Lexus should pay attention to this and cover at least part of the cost as this is not due to wear and tear. I had a Mercedes with almost 350,000 miles on it and did not have all of these problems.

2010 RX-350 headed to Florida on Vac. When we started using AC the floors got damp and to the point of soaked. After googling possible ideas the common issue was the AC Drain plug was clogged. Being a 2010 Lexus with 50,000 miles on it I would never expect this vehicle to have this issue. However here is a few things I did to try and save my vacation: First I removed front and rear Seats, completely took out the Carpet, dry out carpet and soaked insulation, opened drain plugs on the floor boards, drained as much water as possible, wiped the remaining moisture out with towel. After driving for a few min. I could see the water seeping in. It was a Sunday, I spotted a Pep boys open in Jax Beach. I ask them if they could unclog the AC Drain Hose under the Car (for them it was a typical experience). I didn't have a lift to do this myself. The mechanic was nice enough to blow air into the hose and drain out the Blockage (This is ok but it just blew the slug back into the AC Box.) so yes this was a success for 1 day and then the hose became clogged again.

I went to Lexus on Atlantic Blvd Bromfords, they were explaining to me the number of charges I would be facing with Diagnostic fees and Labor and etc. all business, good for them, not what I wanted to hear from a Dealer that is all too well aware of their AC issues with Lexus. With Service of such you just walk away. I went to the next Dealer down the road, Toyota. The Service Manager was very helpful but still not able to help me out. He did explain a lot of options and understood my issue. So here I am on VAC with a 2010 Lexus that I will drive up on ramps and attempt to unclog the hose with weed whacker line as suggested. It could help or it may not. Looking forward to get back to New England where I may be able to get assistance from friendly Auto Dealers. Maybe I will be lucky, Next Lexus will need Flood Insurance and Weed Whacker Line.

Three years after, I had a letter in the mail stating if my car misfired they would replace the engine up to nine years from the day the car was made by the factory so I got a new engine. I called Lexus, the corporation and they would not tell me why these cars needed a new engine. I bought a new 2013 Lexus ES350 last year, and was very excited. It was my first luxury car indulgence. I'm 63 years old, and recently retired. Mechanically, the car ran and drove great. But, the lack of common sense creature comforts in the front cabin became such an irritation that I ended up trading it in - even though I took a depreciation hit of over $15K. Here are the specifics:

    1) It is very difficult to exit the car. The low ground clearance was difficult for me, especially since I have some hip issues. The other factor is that the door does not have an intermediate stop position. So, when you open it, it will tend to start closing on you. Many times I had to kick the door to keep it open, just so I could get out. You learn to do this after it shuts on your leg, which is quite painful. This was an issue for the passengers as well. In addition to just being annoying, the bottom door panel became filthy from all of the foot prints.

    2) There is ZERO convenient storage in the front cabin. I do a lot of detail work in the car, and just need a flat surface to put stuff down. If you look at the console closely, you will see that there is no flat area at all to put anything. The main console storage area crowns in the middle, and is back too far to be useful as a surface. The navigation joystick occupies the right hand side of the console. The shift lever occupies the left hand side. The beverage holder at the front has a sloped cover. The driver's side beverage holder is typically open, because that's the only place you can put your fob/phone/etc. There are no pockets or storage holes in the side of the center console. The end result is that a lot of stuff ends up dropping down between the console and the seat.

    3) If something does drop down between the console and the seat, there is no convenient way to retrieve it. The only way is to get out of the car, move the seat all the way forward (very slowly because it is a power seat), then open the rear door, get on your knees and reach under the seat from behind. Because of the power seat mechanism, you can't reach under from the front. Try this outside in 100+ degree heat, and it gets very old very fast. Especially when what you dropped is your key fob.

    4) This leads to my main complaint: The railings under the seats have not been machined, and have very sharp edges. After suffering my third very serious gash on my hand trying to retrieve what fell between the seat and the console, I just lost it. I traded it in not three days later.

    5) There is no place to put your phone - or even a sunglasses compartment above the rear view mirror. The only place to put stuff is in the driver's beverage compartment. It's like they went out of their way to remove any convenient storage and/or work area.

I know to many, these complaints will seem petty. I guess if you drive a luxury car you shouldn't be concerned with these types of issues. But, after a year of putting up with kicking the door open, dropping stuff between the seat and the console, and getting blood all over my shirt and pants, I just couldn't take it anymore.

I have informed LEXUS Customer Service via e-mail with pictures about this quality problem and they asked me to take the car to a dealer for evaluation. The dealer's replacement estimate was $2519.00. I informed customer Service about the cost and was told that the car was out of warranty... They did not have to offer anything to get it fixed but will give me 25% off the repair. This would still cost me $1889.25, totally unacceptable.

I have owned many cars brands in the past and none of them ever had a quality issue like this. When buying a very expensive car anyone expects top quality. I do not understand is why there is such a big cost difference between various dealers for the same repair (based on other posts). Recent history shows that Toyota is reluctant to stand behind their products and if there is a class action lawsuit, I would like to know how to join. Unless Toyota comes forward with a better offer this will be the last car I have bought from them.

I am a current owner and driver of a 2007 Lexus is250. This car was purchased brand new in October 2006 from the Westminster Lexus dealership. Since the very beginning this car has had many problems which include numerous manufacturer recalls. In 2011, shortly before the warranty expired, the navigation unit went out. By the time the car was taken in, it was 60 miles over the warranty miles (Warranty was void because of mileage not years). The dealership said that we would have to pay for the repairs and quoted the repair to be $2,300+. Also around this time, the dashboard began to get 'sticky'. Another repair that would have to be fixed out of pocket.

This car has been very well taken care of. We made sure that we followed all the manufacturer's recommendations on how to properly care for this car. We have never used any solvent or spray on the dashboard and followed the recommendations to use warm water. A sunshade has been used since the first day to shield the sun away from the dark interior. I have tried countless times to see if any Lexus dealership could help me out because this has to be a manufacturer's defect but no dealership has offered to help. I have met several Lexus owners that have experienced the same problems. I have read on online forums even more people from all parts of the United States and in the U.K. who have the same problems.

I am not as concerned with the little problems with the car as much as I am with the navigation unit and the dashboard. I finally decided to contact Consumer Affairs after a friend suggested I do. She has a separate problem with her Lexus and said that bringing this to your attention may finally get results. I feel as though buyers of Lexus are getting the short end of the stick. We spend so much money purchasing a luxury car but end up with a defective vehicle that requires more money to fix. I'm not even going to go into details about the car's paint.

I took it in to North Miami Lexus dealer. The guy took pictures and said that he submitted the claim. I followed up with him since he never called me back to follow up. After 5 weeks he said that Lexus will replace it but I will have to pay $1000. He also said that I can call Lexus customer service if I am not happy. I did call them and followed up with Customer Service manager, Michael, was told that since the car is outside of warranty (however, very low mileage and they recognize that, could have been covered under that) they can only extend the dealer's offer and that is very fair. They never looked at the pictures since the dealer didn't upload them and apparently someone in the other department declined for Lexus to take full responsibility for the defect.

After searching the issue online, I realize that I am not the only one with the same issue and that different Lexus owners were offered different deals. My belief is that they never even looked into the issue and I was given the generic answer by the customer service management. This is very disappointing and would love to join a class action suit. Lexus is aware of this defect and just getting away with it. The luxury car dealer is washing their hands off. Before I begin my complaint I would like to say the car drives very well and is very sporty. I get a lot of compliments on the vehicle, then they say why is that peeling like that? My Email correspondence with Lexus about my issue: I have a 2006 GS300. I recently noticed my molding along the front windshield that runs along the top to the windshield beginning to PEEL. Really unbelievable for a luxury car. It is embarrassing and damaging to the Lexus brand to have something like this occur AT NO FAULT of my own to this vehicle. I was at the local dealership on a separate issue and was told the roof drip molding was "$763.67", absolutely unbelievable. Total repair cost $1200. Why would this peel like this? This is my second Lexus. I had a LS430 before this. I have by far had more issues out of this vehicle than any others I have owned. I am just blown away and I need Lexus to stand behind their brand. I would like the roof molding repaired. This is just ridiculous to have an issue like this on this type of car.

The response from Lexus: "Thank you for contacting the Lexus Customer Satisfaction Department regarding your 2006 GS 300, Vehicle Identification Number **. We appreciate the time you have taken to share your thoughts. As an automotive manufacturer, Lexus feels its warranty is one of the most comprehensive in the industry, and demonstrates faith in the performance and reliability of its product line. Lexus also realizes that product failures can occur on any vehicle at any time, and regrets any inconvenience this may cause.

"In an effort to be sensitive to the expectations of Lexus customers, we review matters on a case by case basis when a product failure occurs outside the warranty period. We have examined all information pertinent to your request for assistance, including the nature of the repair, mileage on the vehicle, and the warranty expiration date. We conclude it is not appropriate for Lexus to provide assistance on the repair of the front windshield moldings. We apologize that this may not be the response you hoped for. If you require further assistance, please contact the Lexus Customer Satisfaction Department at 1-800-255-3987, Monday through Friday, 5:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., or Saturday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Pacific Time."

My final response: First off thank you for your time and attention to my concern, however I am not pleased with the decision. I see now purchasing a second Lexus was a mistake on my part. I understand Lexus has the right to not stand behind their product and I have the right to not purchase their product. I understand CLEARLY from the discussion from my service advisor that I purchased a USED vehicle not a new one. However as I stated I purchased a used Lexus with a verifiable service history. In fact it was a Lexus certified vehicle. I purchased a used Lexus, not a used Hyundai, Mazda, Chevy, Honda or Ford. Which by the way has a more comprehensive warranty than a Lexus. 5 years, 7 years, and lifetime on certain parts. And cost far less on the initial purchase. Now a Lexus as stated in consumer reports has a better resale and loan value. So I suppose there is the trade off.

But as I stated on the outset I will not be purchasing another USED Lexus product certified or not. I will however let the message board know about my experience. I will also let anyone know about Lexus products/customer service and if the paint begins to peel for no reason, out of the blue it’s your issue. Lexus customer service will stand behind the small issues but when it comes to anything costly you’re on your own. I wonder if the door falls off next or the spoiler blows off while driving, the bumper just comes unhooked for no reason, my seat brakes apart… I mean really what's next. Even though it’s a luxury car, it’s not quality built - these are things that should not happen to this type of car.

This email may not mean much in the grand picture. I am just one consumer, but I will exercise my right as a consumer. My wife and I have owned Mercedes, BMW, Acura, Audi, and Infiniti. We never had any issues like this to occur. Lexus wants nearly $1200 for a piece of plastic molding!!! Ironically I have never heard of these things happening with a Toyota, only with a Lexus. A Lexus may look good but the quality is another subject.

Firstly, the agent suggested that he had never heard of such an issue (odd since he has so many 2009 Lexus models on his lot!). Not only was my rusting concern misdirected to an alternative department, my request for vehicle repair suggested I would have to wait in the dealership for hours rather than shuttled home to work and return to pick my car up (because I was out of shuttle territory)! This dealership is the closest one to me in Whitby. This experience and the lack of genuine service from the Lexus Dealership confirms, I love the car but will never buy or promote the brand based on my poor experience. I went to the dealership in Manchester who looked at the amp and said he saw no reason for the failure, the area was clean and dry. He suggested I call Lexus Consumer Relations. I did as they suggested and spoke with a Colleen. She said I needed to return to the dealership for a formal inspection to be put in writing. I said, "If I do return and the report reflects the same thing my first visit did will you fix my radio amp?" She said she could not make any promises… I said, "Then why am I jumping through these hoops?" She said it was required by Lexus.

I returned as Colleen asked and received the same results: there was no reason, obvious reason for the failure. The information was relayed to Colleen and weeks later she called me and said Lexus was unable to offer any help... offer assistance. SO BASICALLY SHE WASTED MY TIME! To own an $80,000.00 car with only 67000 mile and no radio is crazy. I've been driving around with a boom box on the passenger seat. When you buy a "luxury" car you expect the interior to last longer than 8 years. The car is parked in a garage. I think the defect is associated with the way the airbag was installed and I further believe Toyota knows this. Beyond the appearance issue I wonder if the airbag is defective?

I purchased new my 2008 IS 250, it now has 48,895 miles including an extended four year warranty that is about to expire. I noticed chunks of the dash and door panels literally start falling out, as well as the material turn to a melty, gooey mess. I reported this each and every time I was at the dealership, who "graciously" agreed to send the car in for detailing (at their expense) - then later tried to tell me that the car was out of warranty, and that this problem was caused by chemicals I used when I washed my car!

It wasn't until I became enraged that they sent my "issue" on to Lexus-in-the-sky, who came back with what they called a fair, good will gesture..... They would pay for half of the replacement, to the tune of $2800.00, since the damage was not considered a material defect. I have two other cars, neither of which are LUXURY cars, both older, one with +125k miles, and the interior looks like the day the car was purchased. I live in Florida, and granted it is hot - but similarly, other makes, models and brands of cars are not plagued by this problematic inferior, interior dash/door panel material.

Lexus is branded as a luxury line of cars, and when I purchased this car, I paid for the REPUTATION that comes with the LEXUS brand - including vehicle design, performance, workmanship, and customer service. What I have gotten is five recalls, one including a new rebuilt engine, one for gas pedal issues, air conditioning problems, and now this continual runaround about a problem that is, continues to be recognized as a wide-spread concern.

LEXUS needs to bone up and admit there is a problem and it's more wide spread than they let on. They also need to stop calling me about their stupid sign-and-drive promotions. I will not invest a dime into any Lexus vehicle until they make this right.... Or not!

Regardless I was never aware of the bulletin. Had I been made aware of this I would have had the car fixed at my expense to avoid this issue. Why would they relay to the insurance company and not notify the customer and keep this a secret. Was it to avoid a recall of the cars?

On a positive note corporate was advised of my issue and has agreed to offer a warranty price which came out to approximately 4300 to 4900 hundred dollars. Needless to say, this is much more than my 500 dollar deductible that the insurance company would have received if this bulletin had not come up. I love my Lexus RX 400 and recommend the cars there are the best of the best. Its this issue that keeps me up at night. I explained that since the problem was so prevalent, it must be a defect in the material. They simply replied that since I was out of my warranty term they could not help me. I didn't understand this answer as they are supposed to be a reputable company with cars that last. I guess they have changed their business motto to rip off the consumer for low quality products. Well, there will be no more Lexus in my future or my families. Very disappointed, they need to do a recall and correct their poor work. We bought this RX 330 new in 2004. It has not been to the Dealer once. Not for maintenance, not for tires, not for the maintenance light, which is on and has been for 5 years. I read the complaints on here and amazed at the lack of common sense. Do you people not understand that most dealers are a rip-off ? That they want to take advantage of people that lack common sense or the basic understand of a vehicle. Our Lexus runs fine. I did the brakes and the total cost for it twice now was about $300.00. No one should charge you more than $700.00 for brakes and that would be with new parts all around (pads, and rotors). Therein lies another one of the manipulated products. Rotors, which are the big metal round part are now made thinner so they don't last as long.

Also, when they give you a quote for work. Go to the local auto parts store and compare the product (replacement parts) cost. Yes, there should be a difference as if you go to the dealer, they sell you (OEM - Original Manufacturer parts). Example: A rotor at the auto parts store would cost $60, tops at the dealer should have $120.00. Everyone really does need to find a good mechanic in your area. Watch them too as one in every 4 are the same as a dealer. There to take your money... Sad but true. $11,000.00 in maintenance. That is a joke at best. I do feel sorry for most, especially the women as they should not have to deal with these problems. So many people these days are not normal and helpful. It is about the buck they make on the sale or the repair. They are basically lacking decency.

I also want to let you know. If you buy a car with a touch screen, and all the latest gadgets, expect to be taken for a ride. They figure you are rich and have money to spare. Do you really need all those things, or is it a status symbol for you to tell your friends about. A GPS? How about A map and you actually take the time to learn your surroundings. The Super Rich are manipulating all of us into becoming their pawns for pay. Everything you do will require their assistance. Take a step back. Remember, they are out to get your money. Ask to see what is wrong, also insist on getting the old parts. Even if you just take them now and throw them in the garbage.

There was extraneous noises from a lawn mower and I just went inside and left the car running.

I was shocked when I came out an hour later and found the car running. I believe the two buttons, probably the ignition button should be placed in another area higher, lower or someplace away from the radio button. Now I realize if I had locked the car it might have sounded an alarm, but not sure. Sometimes it is not necessary for me to lock my car and I just push the button and go inside. I am now very nervous and feel stressed about pushing the wrong button and always going out to re check. I found 3 design flaws with my 2012 LS460L none of which Lexus will fix. The 1st incident occurred in Novato, CA making a right turn from the Ignacio Blvd bridge over 101N to Nave Dr. after a rain the previous day. When the front of the car slid slightly, the skid control turned the wheels sharply to the left forcing the car into the lane to my left. Fortunately, there was no car in that lane or there would have been an accident. I was able to regain control but Lexus refuses to investigate this issue insisting it must be reproduced by a dealer for them to act. This is impossible as no dealer has facilities to do this.

The 2nd incident occurred on a hill at the intersection of Willard & Parnassus in San Francisco on 3/14/14. I had made a U-Turn to enter a parking space on Willard and was facing downhill. When I put the car in reverse, it rapidly rolled forward which is not expected in an automatic. I submitted video evidence of this to Lexus and this problem was reproduced by Freeman Lexus in Santa Rosa which, however, has no way to fix the problem, and Lexus refuses to do so though this, too, could be a safety hazard.

This 3rd incident occurred on 4/14/14 when, at Woodland Market in Ross, I put my car in reverse and the rear view camera did not come on. I put it back in park and then back into reverse and the camera still did not come on. I made a video of this and sent it to Lexus and went to Lexus of Marin to show them the problem. They would have to take the car but I could not give it to them and explained this would not occur again if the car was turned off and started again - which I showed them to be true. This also could be a hazard but Freeman Lexus cannot reproduce this and Lexus absolves itself of any responsibility. Lexus, in fact, tells me if the car works "as designed" based on what the dealer can find, they will not fix or investigate the issue even if safety is involved. This violates the Toyota DOJ agreement.

Overall, our Lexus has performed very well. But, I do have a few minor complaints. First, the paint on the Lexus is very soft and chips easily. The dealer told me that was because of EPA paint requirements. Funny, my Ford which has more abusive use than the Lexus doesn't have paint chipping. I found out too late that there is a clear coat they could have installed over the front to protect the paint. But then, why should I have to pay extra to keep their paint from chipping. Second, very early on, I noticed a minor clicking sound in the engine. Sounded like a lifter on an older car, but only when it's cold. I took it in and they kept it overnight but couldn't hear it. Over the years, it's become quite a bit louder and when the engine is cold it sounds like a diesel. I just turned over 100,000 miles on the car and other than brakes and tires, it's been painless.

A car that has been maintained and hasn't been in a wreck, has regular maintenance (although not by Lexus) or any other obvious mistreatment. I made a complaint to Lexus Customer Care (yeah, right!) and they gave me $2000 toward the repairs which I felt was a joke given the forums that point out all of the problems with this car. Virtually all of the repairs necessary are mentioned in all of the forums or other online places to learn of car troubles.

I had all of the repairs done except the upper and lower control arms to the tune of $4637.81 including the $2000 credit against the repairs. The upper and lower control arms represent another $4690.15 plus tax. I've been told to get this done as soon as possible. The car cant really be aligned until these are repaired. I had the first items done in order to get the car back and take advantage of what had been offered before they tried to renege on that. Additionally, I can't sell the car as is because it won't pass a state inspection. Even if I get it fixed, CarFax is probably going to show the repairs so I can't sell it as an individual and if I keep it, I'll be waiting for the other shoe and another $3000 or $4000 in repairs. I feel like I have been really screwed by Lexus with little ability to fight back.

I plan to make sure this is known to as many people as possible and am seriously considering a big yellow lemon on all 4 doors with something like, Ask me about my Lexus experience with an e-mail or phone number. I have no idea if this would qualify for a lemon law claim. Repairs:

    1) R & L #1 & #2 Upper Control Arms: $3210.35*
    2) R&L Lower Control Arms: $1479.80*
    3) Water Pump: $701.50

    6) Bank 1 & Bank 2 Fuel Ration Sensors

    7) O-Ring, Fuel Gasket & Insulator at High Pressure $1523.67

Fuel Pump: $871.52 *Work not done yet. Work that has been done: $6637.81 including tax. $2000. Lexus credit equals $4637.81. Perhaps the shock and the water pump would be okay although with 7 previous pre-owned cars driven in excess of 125,000 miles I had replace no shocks or suspension items. My RX350 (2007) lost power going 65 mph on a highway, and began to slow down quickly. With a truck on one side and another barreling down my behind, I tried to accelerate but the vehicle began to shudder and shake violently! By some miracle, I managed to swerve to the shoulder across 2 lanes, and avoided getting hit and crushed by inches! Got the vehicle to the Lexus dealer and they found out that it was a premature ignition coil failure - the vehicle has only about 42000 mi on it. Asked Lexus Corporate to: 1) Do a full investigation so as to prevent similar life threatening safety failures; and 2) Reimburse the cost of repair at a minimum.

Lexus Customer Service responded with a verbal offer to bear 10% of the cost of repair! Talk about adding insult to injury. We'd undergone a traumatic event, almost losing our lives - my wife had started screaming on the side of the highway and would not get back into the vehicle! I refused, of course, and paid the entire (and substantial) bill myself. I'd like all readers to be aware of the power failure and be especially careful out on the highway. Also be aware that the Lexus promise of perfection seems to be mainly lip service nowadays - safety apparently is not in their definition of 'perfection'. To see such a serious incident being treated so trivially was totally at odds with the Lexus mission and the Lexus promise to its drivers.

For 60 dollar pump, I going to have to pay them $2k. I had to have my car towed to my house one night only to find out I cannot afford to fix the car. The bearing went bad in the water pump. Years later, the Dashboard and the door panels started getting sticky and anytime you touched them they got black stuff on your finger and would scratch the panels. The dash is so shiny that when you drive in the day you can't even see out the window because of the glare. Now the navigation system doesn't work and it operates the ac, radio, navigation and everything else about the car.

I took it to the dealership and they wouldn't touch the nag because the dashboard would fall apart and they don't want to be responsible. They said this happens to everyone that comes in. I called lexus and they can't do anything for me because there hasn't been any complaints filed (what the rep tells me) yet all over the internet that's all you read. It's a shame, my wife want to trade her car in for a new lexus, but there is no way, especially when they won't even help us.

It was towed to Lexus and it took me 3 weeks of fighting and speaking with the owner of the Lexus dealership to get it covered. Now 6 months later the headlight went out, When I looked and noticed there was condensation in the housing of the light. Again I still have a bumper to bumper warranty but again, this is not covered. The seal is broke and they state this is normal wear and tear. $1791.00 to replace, ARE YOU KIDDING ME. WHAT does the certified pre-owned warranty cover because at this point I have had two issues and neither of them are covered under this warranty. So with that said, and the fact that it took me 1 year and 2 months to get mats for my vehicle that were promised as part of the purchase deal from my salesman, and then they were not LEXUS mats. In a few days we noticed more droppings and set the trap again. We caught another one. Then, we caught 2 more. Called Lexus in California, they told us to contact the local dealer in Birmingham, AL. We did and he told us they had the Lexus coming in all the time with mice. He said there was no way to keep them out, they were coming in from the bottom. We carried it to a friends tire service and put it up on the rack. There was no place for them to get in under there.

With further searching, we found that the rats were building a nest in the fresh air filter. This past week, more droppings, set traps again, caught 2 more mice. We have had 4 Ford Explorers, 3 Chevrolet SUV, numerous other vehicles, trucks galore. We had 5 sons that had vehicles and none of the above or children's had mice. That is a total of 6 mice caught in this car since May. This seems petty compared to what the previous comments were. It would really be terrible if the mice chewed the leather seats or some of the wiring. It would really be bad if one ran up our leg.

The RX had a transmission seal fail at 70,000 miles and the water pump on the IS 350 failed after 34,000 miles. Both vehicles were out of warranty when these failures occurred, but given the low mileage, I contacted Lexus Service to request help covering the cost of repairs. They politely declined. I am writing this to warn any prospective luxury car buyers that in my experience the Lexus reputation for reliability is not justified. The additional premium we pay for their vehicles compared to other regular brands is not warranted. I will never buy another Lexus again.

When I asked Clearwater Lexus about this and told them someone from Tampa Lexus had talked with me about the issue, they said, "Why would you listed to Tampa Lexus? They are worse than we are!!" I spoke with the corporate office and best they would do is offer new tires at retail - still bogus.

Now my dash is cracking and Lexus Tampa said $1900 to replace, and 10% off as I don't service my car there enough for a larger discount. Now the headlights are cloudy and there is a recall, but there are no parts for their own recall just an acknowledgement that there is an issue. I was duped by Lexus, they are horrible. Very sorry I ever bought a car from them. Dealerships should provide an actual printout on how they certify a car, if they had, the tires wouldn't have passed a certification test. Like a home inspection, I want to see levels and percentages of wear and tear and how they could ever pass worn tires as "certified". Lexus shmexus. I recently purchased a 2010 RX350 (my fourth Lexus after owning a RX300, RX330, SC430). This has an extremely noisy engine upon start up and for the first 5-8 miles of cold operation. The noise has been identified by several "online" experts as such things as injectors, timing gears or chain but I believe and just recently confirmed with a Master Lexus Technician that it's a poor piston design with their 3.5 L engines. The noise is a scuffed piston noise (indicating too much piston to cylinder wall clearance) and I also believe the piston skirt is too short allowing the piston to rock in the cylinder when it is started cold.

I find that the Lexus store explanation "that they all do it" is not acceptable. I have a GM Duramax diesel that is quieter upon start up than this 2010 RX 350. I am guessing that at some point, the engine will begin to use oil and get louder. I am not sure what I will do as I may sell or trade of the RX350 because it is just unacceptable for this luxury car to sound so disgusting. Neither myself or the Lexus folks think about the warranty. Now 2 weeks out of warranty and only 52,000 miles on the car, it needs a brake actuator at a quoted cost of 3,000 dollars. They have offered a 50 percent off to fix it. When I look online I see that the knocking noise was this part. This is our 3rd LS and also 1 RX for my daughter. Very disappointed with Lexus. Could be a safety issue and seems to be a problem on the newer LS. After 16 years of having a Lexus, there will be no more. I was told that they would work with me if I traded the car on a newer one, that they could absorb the $1500 in the trade. What a bunch of trash.

My 2006 IS 250's dashboard and door panels seem to be melting - they began to shed a couple of years ago and now look awful. Also, the check engine and Check VSC light are on. I took it to Lexus of North Miami where they changed a sensor for $ 500 - that did not fix the problem. Brought it back thinking there was a warranty in their work, and they told me I needed a whole new Catalyst System, a $ 2,000.00 job. Took it down to a friend's shop and he told me that they should have known that was the problem to begin with. First degree fraud is what I call that. Can't trust these Lexus dealers. One says one thing, the other says another thing, and in the end, the customer gets punished. I won't be buying a Lexus ever again (Pity because the car looks nice).

I have a 2005 RX330, Garage kept. I am the 2nd owner and the 1st owner took immaculate care of this vehicle. Sometime last year the dashboard started cracking and flaking off in chunks. HELP ME! It looks disgusting and not what you would expect for a Lexus. This is an outrage!!!

Be careful with this problem, I had it happen to me and the dealer said it will likely be a 2500 dollar repair. I went on the net and researched the problem and found it required a software update so I thought 2500 is a bit much so from my computer experiences. I thought a reboot might work so I disconnected the battery cable and left it off for about 10 minutes while I cleaned the cables and posts. Once reconnected, rebooting started and problem fixed proving to me once again that all car dealers are crooks and now Lexus is at the top of all the crooks. It took me about 15 minutes total to do this repair saving me 2500 dollars which equates to 10 thousand dollars an hour at the dealership. They should be arrested for fraud.

In today's [August 9, 2013] Wallstreet Journal [delivered in Minnesota] Lexus advertised they would do a 0.00 money down, $299.00 per month lease for 36 months on their CT200H. The Ad is clear but Lexus of Maplewood of Minnesota would not honor the ad. I like the car, but they are saying it should be $370 per month for 36 months.

In 2011 I bought a certified pre-owned 2007 ES350 with 27,000 miles. I experienced rough shifting-clunking and jumping forward on hills. I took it in 4 times to the dealer in Fife, WA and duplicated the problem with the service manager. They reset-updated the computer on the transmission 3 times. But I still have the same problem. I wanted the problem taken care of before the warranty expired. The service manager told me that they could not fix it and would not replace the transmission's computer.

I have had two other Lexus. I am very disappointed with their response to this problem. I paid extra for the certification and what did I get? Not what I would expect from a QUALITY car company.

I purchased brand new RX 350 in April 2012. I thought it's time for a new car and I deserved a nice car for working so hard. I've driven my 02 Civic ever since and had no problems. I noticed my rear driver side mirror looked melted and side panel/spoiler(back wing) had rippled lines. Dealer Modesto and Lexus Corp both deny it's under warranty due to "possible low effiency windows" reflections to my car. Which I baloney. So you are telling me the quality of your car is crap and cannot handle sun/heat? I went to Lexus in another city and the manager said he would replace it under warranty but due to Lexus Corp denying my case he could not order the parts for me. So how can Lexus Corp not help me when another dealership can? If anyone had any similar issues, please let me know/suggestions/opinions on this. Would greatly appreciated. I feel that this is brand new car and should not have any paint/body issues. So paying more doesn't always mean you get good quality or service.
