I drive a 2010 Civic Si and it has been a reliable car. With the right tires, it handles well and it's fun to drive. I have had very few problems, aside from regular maintenance on this vehicle. I have only one ongoing issue where it doesn't like to start straight away when it's very wet outside and the mechanic isn't sure exactly why. There are little things that are annoying like, the center console no longer slides freely, one of the controlled vents doesn't stay in position when the heat is on, and the side window vent cover located near the front windshield pops up frequently. But, overall, the car is in good shape.

Has lasted for 30 years. Still going strong with 169,000 miles. Great gas mileage. Has been a great car. Would buy a Honda again. I just now need a bigger size like a CRV or HRV. A great size fits in tight spaces. Everything still in good working order except air conditioner has had problems last several years but believe the garage where being repaired put in inferior parts. Have even slept in it for 8 days and seven nights when camping with my dog. It worked wonderfully well since I had electricity at campground. Again, Honda still great cars!

I was so happy with my 2012 Honda Civic. My Civic is black and one or two years back my car start getting white spots. I thought was because was too hot and the heat was damaging the color (even that is not logic). Like 2 months ago someone told me the Honda paint have a problem (I didn't know and Honda never informed of that). Honda have a extension warranty for the paint. I was surprise like I said I didn't know this problem exist on Hondas. Apparently the don't paint the cars good just trying to get more out for sale.

I went to a dealer and explain the situation. They said they will send my information and pictures to Honda. Well they don't. Will not do it because I'm out of the time for 3 or 4 month. I'm so disappointed on this. Why I never will get another Honda. They are no true with their customer and I don't want to go aging thru all this problem. if you get a Honda Make sure is no a Problem that need to be fix.

Honda is a trustworthy brand. I have had several Hondas and they never disappoint. So I was happy to see that the new security features I wanted came standard on the 2019 Civic. And they work like a charm. I sometimes use the Adaptive Cruise Control even in the city. It works perfectly even at low speeds. The Lane Protection feature does not quite make this a self-driving care, but it's on track. The back camera has a great resolution and can be set to several levels of zoom. The car is a tad bit low, so it's not as easy as others to get in and out of. It has a large trunk space. I wish it had more USB ports to connect all my devices. And more cup-holders. The dashboard is configurable and the menus are fairly easy to navigate through.

I bought a brand new 2019 Honda Civic Hatchback Sport in February 2019. I drove a lot of miles which, is at about 30k right now. I noticed the rear floor lining is popping out under the rear right seat. The rear floor lining isn’t sitting flush against the bottom board of the car. So, because it isn’t laid flat there’s a gap. When the carpet gets stepped on, the hole that’s holding the lining underneath the plastic is stretching out causing the lining to pop out. Because the lining is underneath the front seats and the seat railing is bolted on top of the lining, it can’t be repositioned to get rid of the gap, unless all the front seats and railings get removed.

I went to the Honda dealership to get it fixed since it’s under the 36,000 mile warranty, they said it wasn’t fixable because it’s considered wear and tear. And even though it’s new, it has too many miles, therefore it will be considered wear and tear. How is that wear and tear, when the direct result of that happening was because Honda didn’t align the floor lining correctly in the first place. If it was aligned correctly against the floor and back board, the hole that’s holding the carpet lining in place wouldn’t have stretched so much.

I’ve had nothing but great experiences with past Honda vehicles, no major issues. So this time I decided to switch from a Hyundai back to a Honda. If I knew At 30k miles, the quality of a Honda was ** like this, I would’ve just stayed with my Hyundai and not bought a brand new Honda. It seems like the quality of Honda is going down the drain and becoming worse than a Hyundai.

Dealer says it's the compressor but Honda has not released a replacement part yet. Honda say it's their supplier who has not shipped yet and they don't know when they will. Sorry for your luck. Omgosh. Wish I could give zero stars. Certainly would never buy Honda again.

Hi, I'm a loyal Honda costumer for years. I just bought a 2016 Honda Civic which has been diagnosed that the AC isn't working properly. I have researched online and this same issue (AC compressor/condenser leaking) is a common problem for 10th gen Civics that can be proved after seeing thousands of owners with the exact same issue as mine. The damage in my compressor, after the diagnose, was NOT due to road damage. Seems to be a design flaw, -- as the dealership said, which also suggested me to contact American Honda to take another look at my case, also the Honda tech confirmed they have a corrosion problem with 2016 Civic AC.

I got a quote of over $1700 to replace the condenser. This issue needs to be actively looked at by Honda because soon enough, all 10th gen owners may or will experience this problem. Me as many other owners are very disappointed with such a problem. Last but not least, it's illegal to vent refrigerant to the atmosphere, so a leak in thousands of Honda Civics AC system is a safety hazard for the driver and for the environment. Reports further also allege that the malfunction in the Civic A/C condensers and compressors create risks for damage to other components in the vehicles’ systems.

I purchased a 2016 Honda Civic. I thought this was a reliable car. I have less than 13,000 miles and have had three batteries. (The one it came with and two more.) I had to take it in because it would hesitate when I would turn right. They were unable to duplicate. The module display went bad and it had to be replaced. When I asked why so many batteries the service department said, "I don’t know." I called the Corporate office and they said I don’t drive the car enough. I will never ever buy or suggest that anyone buy a Honda. I feel I have a lemon and Honda has not been helpful at all. Please do not buy, if you have a problem with the car you are on your own.

But, since Honda does not have part in stock they were not able to repair. Also, there is no any guaranteed time period when part will arrive since Honda has back log order. Honda is not small car company. They do manufacturer different car models. How can they don't have part in stock. I also email to Honda customer care department and in reply I got email that I will get call from manager in 3 to 5 business day which I had not received. The air conditioning problems with the 10th generation Honda Civic seem to be widespread. Even more troubling is the fact that Honda refuses to address these issues and/or correct the problems even when under warranty. I have been a Honda customer since the early 90s, this being my 4th Honda auto. My a/c issue just started a month ago. The driver's side vents blow ambient/hot air, while the passenger side blows cold air. Did a little research and more than likely the system has a low charge of refrigerant (although other factors could be involved) but this being the more likely cause. I have 41k miles on the car and am outside the warranty, so any repairs made will have to come out of pocket. After reading all the horror stories on various blogs and complaint sites, and having a relative idea of what the repair costs would be, it seems that the best solution is to get rid of this lemon and trade it in for a more reliable vehicle.

How could one justify the cost of spending in upwards of $3k or more for repairs, when I have less than a year left of payments?! It seems a lot of these problems can be traced back to the new refrigerant R-1234yf that was recently implemented in the 10th Gen Honda Civic. Extremely expensive to recharge and repair. This new refrigerant will be standard on all vehicles in the US starting in 2021, so if anyone wishes to make a new auto purchase, do so quickly! Honda needs to step up and address these problems, make the repairs, and stop gouging of what little remains, I soon suspect, of their loyal customer base. After 30 years, I for one, am no longer one of them! Past Honda’s owned: 1980 Honda Accord LX; 2007 Honda Civic Hybrid. Current: 2002 Honda S2000; 2016 Honda Civic Touring.

This is the 4th Honda that I've bought brand new over the years, all of my previous Hondas I've absolutely loved. The 2016 Honda Civic EX-T has completely changed my thoughts on the Honda car brand. Issue #1- Right away I started having electrical issues (not starting, throwing random lights, infotainment freezing, draining battery, the list goes on), after 6 trips to the dealership they finally get it straightened out. #2- My steering column has an issue and needs to be replaced. #3- 700 miles after my warranty expired my engine blew and flooded the turbo with oil ($7,000 altogether).

#4- and most recently (4 months after the engine and turbo were replaced) my transmission gives out. Now they want $3,000 to fix that. At this point it doesn't drive, I still owe 10 grand on it plus had to take out another loan for the 7 grand to replace the engine and turbo all adds up to my really wanting to drive it through their front door and give it back to them. Good luck if you're brave enough to buy one of these.

2016 Civic Air Conditioning under 36,000 miles. Don't buy this car! I had issues with the A/C right away. I had it fixed August 2018 and it is out again July 2019. Dealer said it is the condenser and it would cost $850.00. I am sure the dealer did a minor fix instead of fixing the big problem the first time. I reached out to Honda and they said Debris is not covered under warranty. I asked them to pay $150.00 for a 2nd opinion and they wouldn't do that either. Save yourself $- don't buy this car, you shouldn't have to fork out this amount of $ when you have a new car. Honda dealer is in Cerritos, CA.

The front of the vehicle is much too low. Yesterday I damaged the front lower left bumper because I hit a corner of a curb. If I could have seen the curb and the front wasn't so low it wouldn't have happened. I have to purchase a thick pillow to put on the driver side so I can see the curbs, etc.

Well that was first major issue. Not at 5390 miles, same thing happened except this time gear is locked completely and entire warning lights lit up again. End up towing it in to local dealer for service and end up replacing TCM and PCM.

Now at 24000 miles, engine warning light came on and took it in for service again. Told problem with Evac Canister.. After two days, dealer replaced the part but check engine light is still on.. Going 3rd day in dealer and not sure what's going on. Vehicle is still under original warranty but will expire next month on 3rd year with 24333 miles on it. I have had my Honda Civic for three years now. When I first saw this car it seems like every teenager's dream car. The remodel they did for the Honda was stylish and eye-catching. I had to have this car! The dealer Bob who I got the car thru was shady and misleading. He told me a price when I was test driving then when I was about to purchase my car went up 2,000. I will never purchase a car thru them ever again. When I first purchased the car drove smooth and easy. After a month after having the car the carpet in the back started coming up. I took it back to the dealer only for them to try and blame me or someone that has been in my car. After explaining to them no one drives or rides in my car. They decided to just replace the carpet. They kept my car a whole day to replace the carpet. Which was okay, because they paid for my rental car.

After six months my carpet started coming up again. This time they had no explanation to why my carpet was still coming up. Their solution was to just stuff the piece that was coming out back under the seat. My carpet coming up has been a reoccurring thing since I brought the car. Maybe it's the type of carpet they put in the cars now. Another thing is sometimes my Bluetooth won't connect to my car. I have the latest iPhone, I'm thinking it is a malfunction in the car. Sometimes the USB won't work. I love that this car is spacious and different for the older model Hondas. Even though I have been in three accident since I had this car all not my fault. I would purchase this car again if the interior is updated.

I've spoken to service departments at two dealerships and the Regional Case Manager with HONDA Customer Service, who have all tried to blame me for this occurrence. Hundreds of dollars later I am being told that this is not covered under the warranty and the cost of repairs falls to my insurance. HONDA assumes no responsibility for the damages, cost of car rental or towing. Although a simple Google search was able to locate other customers with the same complaint, HONDA insist that this is an isolated incident. They have taken no ownership for the glitch or the inconvenience this has caused me. This is my first HONDA and probably my last because once they've got your money, they don't care.

The paint used on the car was defective and began bubbling up, leading to rust. The company extended the warranty, but required that a local Honda dealer authorized auto body shop do the work. They painted over the defective paint, apparently, because within a year or so it was bubbling up and had rust underneath. I got an estimate from a local body shop but they insisted it had to again be a Honda dealer authorized auto body shop. I got that estimate which was 1/3 higher than the local estimate. I can't get the case manager to call me back, which is very frustrating after four weeks or so.

I was hoping to get the work done when I leave for vacation in a week, but that is now unlikely meaning that I will have to rent a car during the repair process. On top of that, I am expected to pay half the cost of the repairs although I cannot choose the shop to do the work - close to $1000 for my part alone. I could go back to the original shop, but they would have to agree that poor workmanship was responsible, which is unlikely. Very frustrating.

I literally called my sales agent and said I'll take a blue one. Everything I hoped would be upgraded was. 2 years after that, I went in to have my car detailed and the van driver asked why so I told him I wanted it to look brand new. He asked if I had seen the new Civics... I hadn't. So I looked... and bought the new one that very day. It was literally light years away from the previous one. This time I bought a Titanium Honda Civic. I received so many compliments on that vehicle. All throughout the 2 years I had it.

My son is turning 18 in 3 years so I asked him what colour of car he likes best... because I'm passing the Honda Torch onto him in 3 years. He said Titanium. So... I now have a brand new car that looks identical to my last Honda Civic! It's even more comfortable and the subtle new features are a welcome change from the last. There's a bit of cognitive dissonance getting behind the wheel of a brand new vehicle that looks just like the former one. But what a joy to drive! Thank you Honda!! I have Civic 2018. At first I had very bad experience at the dealership which is Garden State Honda in Clifton, New Jersey. The sales Consultant (Christian **) was very unprofessional. I had to complain to the manager so many times for his mistakes. He gave me hard time filing the papers. Then after only 6 months I started to have issues with the car. The battery died twice. When I went to the service the first time which is in Passaic, New Jersey they told me nothing wrong then the second time they said it needs to be changed.

Another issue was the window it was not going up and down properly so I went to the service. They changed the regulator, but the problem was still there. So I went again they said the regulator has to be wiped, I still have the same problem but they say there is nothing. So I called the manager her name is Dina. She said no there is something wrong with this window. So they changed the regulator again, now it's good. Another issue is that I always hear clicking in the car but of course because they do not know what it is they say there is nothing. Now my problem is with the AC. One side of the front gives me hot and the other side gives cold, also the AC has to be on low to be cold. I cannot control it. Again I went to the service. First time they changed the condenser, nothing changed. I went again they changed the whole compressor, but nothing.

Third time I went they said there is a hole in the pipe and changed it, same problem so they said the freon is low. Until now I still have the same problem and they cannot fix it. I called the customer service manager. His name is Jeff, sadly he did not do anything and told me, "Nothing I can do about it and I have to hang up the call." Do you imagine how much time I wasted and not working for fixing the same issues. I asked them to change this car for me or even compensate me for wasting my time because it's their fault for not fixing the issue, and even if they fix it it has to be after many trials. I am very disappointed at Honda.

I traded the car in 2010 for a 2011. Again the visors cracked and I had them replaced at the dealer. After a long argument as they wanted to charge me $250.00 to replace each one I mentioned I had written to Honda Corp. about this issue but I never got a response. I also told the dealer there was a lawsuit regarding the visors.

Then they told me they would replace them free of charge. As you can guess the visors are broken again. What Honda should have done is replace them for better visors that don't crack. I am going on 8 yrs with this car with a total of 71,000 mi. and now started replacing moldings around windows as they are fading and cracking. I'm still running with the factory exhaust, shocks, struts, alternator, water pump, etc... I'm on my second battery as I used up the first one. I didn't replace my brakes until around 225,000 as most of my driving is highway and I don't really use them. I replaced the serpentine belt at 200,000 and was told us still had wear left in it but honestly at 200,000 I was getting kind of nervous that I might be getting ready to go. So basically I change the oil every 7500 miles, the spark plugs every 100000 miles and the tires every 8 months or so... Aside from gas I'm good to go.

The only problem that I didn't have resolved with this car was that the backup camera stop working about 7 months after I bought it. I took it back to my dealer and he refused to fix it as the warranty was for 3 years or 36000 miles and I had over 45,000 miles on the car. Personally I don't feel items like backup cameras should be listed under a specific mileage warranty but instead perhaps covered under the 3-year part of it, but I'm 49 years old and learned to backup my car without a camera so this detail will not prevent me from purchasing another Civic - excellent car.

I have a 2016 Civic Touring with 40k miles. The infotainment screen goes awry since a month after I bought it brand new and I can't even access the heat/AC, back up camera, side camera, music, etc. I've brought it in a few times but the issue persists. Today they wouldn't even look at it because they can't replicate the problem. Other option was to pay over 100 dollars for a tech to look at it, most likely the tech would come to the same conclusion. They wouldn't even take the matter up the chain of command. How is Honda gonna know what is happening if they don't listen or watch the video I have of this continuous issue. I've researched online forums and many others have this problem. I hope Honda will one day fix this infotainment mishap.

Within seconds the fire got out of control, if it wasn't for the water and rockstars and water I got from other motorists I wouldn't have extinguished the fire, the vehicle is at the shop now. I am a loyal Honda brand member having purchased 4 cars from them in the last 7 years. I purchased my 2018 Honda Civic Type R on February 12, 2018 at a dealer markup ($3000 over MSRP) after going back and forth with dealers for months. After only driving the car for 4700 miles, the car has a major transmission leak and the navigation screen has micro scratches all over it. Nothing has ever touched my screen besides my fingers (no towels, no microfiber towels). I took the car into the dealer I purchased it at (Norm Reeves Honda Irvine) on July 5th 2018 and spoke to a manager by the name of Quincy. I explained my situation to him and he agreed that he would take care of the screen and make sure the transmission gets taken care of promptly.

I came down to the service lot and communicated what Quincy and I had just spoke about to my service manager Brett **. Quincy actually came down and gave Brett his extension in case he needed any help. Brett contacted me on Friday to explain that my car was not looked at yet and he would get the ball rolling asap. He advised he would give me an update of Saturday with a video of the issue. Fast forward to Saturday July 7th and I still have not received any word from the dealer or service department about my car. I tried calling for 30 min and nobody could connect me with any of the managers, Brett, Quincy, or even the general sales manager Garrett ** whom I had purchased the car from originally.

I attempted to reach out to Garrett and he kept screening my phone calls. Then when I frustratingly called back he text me from his cell phone that I was blowing up his phone and he can't talk because he was in front of a customer. I advised that I was going to contact American Honda and file a complaint if someone could not communicate to me what was happening to my car. He told me to do what I thought I needed and to not take a frustrated tone with him. This is after paying a $3000 markup on a new car. After filing the complaint with Honda, they contacted me on Tuesday to discuss the issue. I spoke to an agent by the name of Dempsy. After hearing my story, he agreed that they would be willing to cover the screen under good faith and he would contact the dealership to communicate that with them and take care of the transmission issue as soon as possible.

I contacted the dealership on Thursday July 12th to communicate what Honda had told me and he advised that was good news because the dealer had denied my warranty claim on a $700 screen because the damage was caused by outside influences like a microfiber towel. Even if I had cleaned it with a microfiber towel, which I never have, a microfiber towel shouldn't cause damage to a navigation screen.

I now sit here without my car for the last 7 days, and the dealer has just sent me the video today explaining that I have a transmission leak. Well, no kidding I told them that 7 days ago. They still haven't given me a reason for the leak and I suspect they are taking this long so they can find a reason to deny the claim on the transmission also. American Honda also called me today letting me know that they spoke to the dealer and have also decided to deny my claim on the micro scratched screen. This has by far been the worst new car purchasing experience.

The Del Sol came in Red, Black, White, Green, and Royal Blue. And I chose the blue and never regretted my decision. I love the electric roll down rear window both with the top on and with the hardtop off. Because it is a hardtop convertible with a locking mechanism to store the hardtop in the trunk, the insurance does not reflect a normal/high insurance premium for a convertible. It is a style icon. A classic Honda retired by Honda, too early in my opinion, is a joy to drive. This car was luxury on a strict budget.

I would improve the blind spot on both rear window views, the location on the center console cup holders, center glove box, etc due to a tad too far back for comfortable use without taking my eyes from the road. Since it was a small car some folks essentially helped carry it out of the sand pit. I drove through snow and ice plus all kinds of weather. I got a decent trade value when I replaced with my next car a Ford Taurus. As Honda kept its value.

Dash lights up nicely, heated seats and backup camera are great. Turning is great and the safety features as well. Cleaning is simple and trunk compartments are a breeze to lift and move stuff around. This vehicle takes little time to warm up in the winter too. Great mileage and MPG, easy on my car insurance. Great first car for young adults in their 20s. Fully loaded this car is not ideal for acceleration but it still delivers awesome MPG with max passengers and trunk full. Drove 3 1/2 hours up north (MI) and still was over 30 MPH with two passengers but lots of luggage. Added weight was appx 400-440 pounds.

It's a stylish, snappy little car that gets about 30 to 35mpg with reasonable driving. I'm 6'6" and 260lbs... 'space' and head room are important. It's worth a test drive if you want good mileage, and some space. Oh, and that trunk... dang, it's deceiving and can hold one heck of a lot of stuff, and with the center of the backseat hole folded down, a couple pairs of snow skis can fit INSIDE the car, with four adults inside the car. I would absolutely have another of these.

We purchased a brand new, 2017 Honda Civic Turbo Sport, electric push start, in July. It was a great car - completed all the surveys from Honda favorably. September 1st we had our first problem. We went out first thing in the morning and the sunroom was 1/2 open and all 4 windows were 1/2 down. We didn't leave the windows down. We thought someone had broken into it. I notified the sales rep. A week later on Sept. 7th, my husband walked the dog around the car; all windows were up, key fob in the HOUSE. The next morning was pouring rain, and yep, all 4 windows were down and the sun roof wide open, car soaked. The real nightmare was trying to get the dealership to help, with drying out the car and to find out what was wrong with the car.

Unbeknownst to us, this is a common problem that Honda has known about since 2008, according to the service manager. We were given the line that if you put the key fob in your pocket, "something" could press on the Unlock button, and cause the windows to go down and sunroof to open. We bought an extended warranty, and neither the regular warranty nor the extended one would help us. We were blatantly told it was our fault, and this was an insurance claim, and with the $500 cost to dry out the car, $50 for diagnostics charge, and however much for a rental car (oh, we couldn't get an appt. until Monday as it was the first day of school and a lot of people had booked time off!), we're looking at over $1,000.

We ended up calling another dealership, and we got the car in on Friday - the next day. They were helpful, sympathetic, and hooked the car up to diagnostics - for free. They also put the car in their detail shop and did some work on drying out the car (there was an inch of standing water in the cup holders, so you can imagine how much rain got in there). In the end, they couldn't find a problem with either the key fob or the car, but the change in attitude more than made up for what we went through with our original dealer. So, a word of warning - if you have a Honda Civic, DO NOT put the key fob in your pocket or purse. If you believe Honda, something could hit this button and make your windows go down on their own. Goodness only knows where you're supposed to carry your "keys" if the fob is that sensitive.

Before my car was 3 years old all and I mean every piece of rubber trim failed, around the windows and I am talking about door window rubber and seals inside and outside, the windshield seals and rubber just flew off while driving down the freeway and then one day I heard an awful slapping sound only to find the rubber below the trim on the roof had also failed and just tore off in the wind. The clear coat to plastic coat on the black trim on the door just bubbled up and started flaking off. The visors also broke and cant be turned up so it is a driving hazard. The center console latch failed and no longer shuts.

Oh and the ac it runs warm when I'm at a stop and cools when the car move. Honda said the ac problem is just the way that car's ac works. Honda refused to do anything about any of the rubber trim because my car was 3000 miles over warranty and then they asked me what I wanted. I told them if they just gave me the rubber I'd have someone replace all of it. The estimate was $200 for each door window, that's $800, then I have to replace all of the other rubber seals and fix console, visors and replace the peeling blistered black trim on doors. By the time my car was just under 3 years old I was looking at about $3500-4000 in repairs. So I was looking at about an additional $350 a month in repairs for this piece of junk.

My sisters 2010 Honda Accord had the same problems. My '99 civic and 2002 crv do not have this problem. Looks like I will turn to Subaru next. If you are driving down the road and need to turn on the wipers and bump the start button the car totally shuts down and you lose any control turning or stopping it. Also when you shut the car off while you can shut it down in any gear while thinking it is in park. You even lose control of the parking brake. The start button is so close to the wiper/washer arm. When the tilt steering wheel is in the down close position it is on the state button.

I went back to my dealer and they did not believe me until they drove the same car they had in stock, everybody was surprised to see the cars shut down while they were driving around the dealer lot. I was on my way home from picking the car up, when I stopped to get something out of the trunk and shut it off. When I got out it started to roll and we could not stop it. The dealers said they will have to let new owners know of this when they are delivering and reviewing the controls. This is a accident waiting to happen.

Note: My dad did not receive a notice about this as well since he was not the original owner. I then stated to them I am about to have a daughter, and do not want a issue of my car over heating because me either not to be able to provide for my newborn or for this issue to cause me to have to pull off the side of the road and have my new born wait in the heat which could be hazard to her health.

They stated there is nothing they can do and it's their policy not to send out extended warranties and that I should call every time I buy a used or new car to see if there are extra warranties due to ALREADY known issues. Now I have to either A) play chicken and keep driving (which I will have to do because I do not make enough, or have enough to obtain a new motor which they stated would be 5k or B) somehow find 5k. I always get good compliments about how pretty this new style looks. So I decided to finally get my first brand new Honda, and oh oh, I thought that Honda had good quality, maybe the machine and all that performs well, but what about the rest?

I noticed after I purchased it that the gas door has dents from pressing it to open and close. The car got a few dents quickly, that's how fragile the body of the car is. Then, I noticed that the carpet under the back seat is loose. It's coming off from one side, and now, well they decided to put this buttons on the back of the rear seat with the child's seat logo and mmm for what? I don't know... They have no use, just buttons, 2 on each seat. Well, a couple of days ago one of them came off, and now there's a hole on the seat. Who had the idea to put the damn buttons? For what???

I will complete the first year with the car next week and I'm having all these problems already. This is not my first new car, but it's my first Honda, and it's new! And already have problems with it. I had other brand new cars and never had a problem with them nor mechanical or product quality-wise until after maybe the 4th year. I bought a new 2007 Honda Civic for my daughter because of the high quality reputation of the Honda brand. My daughter preferred the Volkswagen beetle but I convinced her that Honda would be a better quality product. Boy was I wrong. I am almost tempted to list the things that have not gone bad to simplify the task. However, it is probably best for me to list all of the problems we encountered with this car. My daughter NEVER want to have anything to do with Honda.

Soon after the warranty ran out the CD player failed. The dealership recommended we purchase a CD cleaner from RadioShack which we did to no avail. It never worked since. The visors (yes the sun visors) broke. I went to the dealership and they replaced both of them for free making it sound like it was a huge favor. Well, soon after, the new visors failed as well. They kept falling in your face as they would not stay up. I came up with a Velcro solution which still works but looks awful. The paint began to peel and turn white (the car is black). We then found out about a class action on the paint. Honda repainted certain section of the car per the class action but did not paint the back trunk or the sections leading to the roof. Now the car looks awful with certain sections peeling and white. The AC failed in year 4 which I had replaced by Honda. It is still working today.

There was a class action on the front brakes. It seems that they are too small for the vehicle and the brake pads wear out very quickly. The class action provided financial relief if you submitted invoices. But since I replace my own brake pads I could get anything. The rear tires were wearing out prematurely (cupping). The tire shop told me to go back to the dealership to have the car inspected which I did. Honda charged me $50 to confirm the there was nothing wrong.

A few months later, there was a class action on this problem with repairs covered by Honda. I never received a refund of the $50 or remedy for the damaged tires. In the first 2 years, the battery failed. Honda replaced it free of charge. Then the battery kept failing and Honda kept replacing the battery free of charge every time. I can't remember how many times we had to go to the dealership to have the battery replaced. Last week, (5 years after the last replacement) the battery failed. It was still under warranty but I instead purchased a Costco battery. I can't remember anything else but I am sure I am forgetting many other more minor problems. Honda for us = very poor quality. Never again.

Have 2015 Honda Civic. Many issues. Poor design, unsafe federal mandates designed to make car safer that seriously cause dangerous performance. Poor performance in several areas. The worst problem is the Federal Mandate affecting the braking and acceleration functions. Supposedly, this is now on all autos. If one is a two footed driver and the accelerator is engaged at the same time or close to the time of using the brake pedal the car will cut out, stutter, become sluggish. If this happens during a turn driver may be caught in the intersection and get T-boned. This is going to require Congress to act I suppose, but it is very dangerous.

Now, the Civic has a inadequate A/C, gas mileage, engine power. The backup camera is not adequate and does not aid in backing up often. Does not cover the area well. Does not reveal the area in certain lighting conditions. Driver cannot see what car is close to on any side due to poor design. Rear speakers and headrests block view. Dashboard lights reflect on window if they are turned on high and interferes with sight. Bucket seats are so low driver cannot see well. Overall design of instrument panel and functions is difficult and not logical. This has been the worst car I have ever owned; new or used. Terrible, terrible design and performance. Honda offered a $100 coupon. Nothing done outside this. Still a crappy auto. Attorney needs to sue the federal government over the brake/accelerator issue before many people are killed.

I purchased a 2013 Honda Civic new in spring of 2013. I have kept up proper service and maintenance and the car has thus far ran and operated fine. My problems with the vehicle lie mainly with cosmetic issues to this point but leave me worried about the long-term durability of the rest of the car. Not long after the 3 year mark (yes, soon after the expiration of the factory warranty) I started noticing cracks in the side window moldings. ALL of them. I contacted my dealership and was told they would contact Honda Corp and let me know. Honda denied any coverage to fix the situation. I let time lapse and figured it was just something I had to deal with.

Around 3.5 years I noticed some slight fading in the cowl panel and the steering wheel started to show signs of slight pitting much like that of a car many, many years old would show. I dealt with it still but contacted my dealership again to express my concern and dissatisfaction of this. After several contacts via phone and e-mail dealer again says Honda Corp will not rectify this situation. I try to contact Honda directly and they send me back to my dealer. So after several attempts with both my dealer and directly to Honda, Honda still would not cover this repair. Car is now 4 years old and looks much older due to what is very plainly lack of proper UV protection on the plastic and rubber parts indicated.

I made all the described contacts before I mentioned any amount of frustration to anyone outside the dealership or Honda. Since they are unwilling to fix a situation so plainly caused by poor quality components they placed on the car at the time they built it, I want to now describe my situation to others in case it helps them to make or not make a particular decision in a new car purchase. Honda's quality has clearly declined in what was likely an effort to save manufacturing costs and they will not rectify this problem. This plainly will lead to much lower resale values of their cars due to cosmetic issues (if that is all it ends up being). I have in the past had other Honda vehicles and 2 of those had the dreaded Honda transmission troubles. I tried them again and now have the issues described above. I will be trading this car for another brand and will not purchase another Honda in my foreseeable future.

It is and will be really bad experience to purchase any Honda car. On the third day after purchasing the Civic 2017, the car had water leaking after the first rain. Water penetrated the seals inside the driver's front door and drop out from the place where the plastic door panel meet the metal of the door. After this, water just kept penetrating the door once it rained.

Now, both dealership and honda company refuse to do anything. They kept saying this is normal, but they are not letting you know why water went to the place between the two seals on your door and the door frame. Their reason is that it is common for honda cars. Apparently, this is not common for other companies' cars which do not use the stupid weather strip design.

2016 Honda Civic, EX, 2.0 Engine, Auto Trans 2k miles - Traded in my 2014 Accord LX with only 15k miles because I really wanted the 10th Gen Civic, everything I have read was highly positive. The new Civic in town is a pretty awesome little car with good acceleration and very agile. Fuel mileage in town averages 32 mpg without Eco. With Eco I average 29 mpg around town, no, that is not a typo. Unlike my 2014 Accord that would average 39 mpg Hwy with Eco the best I have done in the Civic is 34 mpg with or without Eco. Now, I only have 2000 miles on the car so who knows how or if things will change. Nevertheless, the Eco system in the Civic does not seem to work or it works backwards. I took it to the dealer for this issue and was informed the car has no issue as it has not displayed a engine fault code. Additionally, they have no way to test the Eco system.

When I asked about the poor freeway mileage the dealer's response was the vehicle is working within the listed fuel expectations. Worse, at 70 mph there seems to be a lag in light acceleration between 1800 - 2500 rpm's. After noticing this lag I stumbled across an engine vibration about 2100 rpms in park. You can feel this vibration, if you can't open your door or hood and feel those vibrate or watch the door start vibrating when the engine is between 2000 - 2500 rpms, most likely 2100. When I addressed this with the dealer service department I was informed that is normal, now, this is a very noticeable vibration that is not present under 2000 or over 2500 rpms. I asked the dealer to reproduce this vibration in another like vehicle and to my surprise the vehicle they randomly picked had the same very noticeable vibration.

I can't help but think this vibration has something to do with the poor fuel mileage on the frwy because 2100 rpms is about the speed of the motor when the vehicle is at 80 mph, however, I don't know how to prove it. This Civic also has some frustrating electrical Idiosyncrasies. Android Auto nor Honda Link will work with my Samsung Note 4 despite Honda of America and the reps of Android Auto stating the system should work with the note 4. My wife's Apple phone works just fine with the Civic. The USB's both center console and storage compartment between the seats will often not detect a device like an Ipod. However, by simply turning off the car and making sure the electrical system turns off then restarting the car generally solves this issue, you may have to repeat this two or three times.

Honda of America field rep. stated there should be a flash coming out very soon to address these issues but it is not out yet. Who would have ever predicted you would have to reboot your car? In no particular order is the electrical issue of the parking lights. If you want to leave your parking lights on, leave and secure your vehicle for whatever reason, here is a surprise... you can't. The automatic light shut off system overrides the manual parking light setting. Even if the automatic light mode on the steering column is not selected or turned to parking lights. In setting you can only change the timing of the automatic light shutoff not turn it off. The dealer states the Civic does not have a manual setting parking light feature. When did manual parking lights become a feature?

My biggest complaint with the challenged electrical oversight is the operation of the key fob. You press unlock once to unlock driver door and twice to unlock all doors. I like this feature and that is pretty much the standard operating process for most cars with key fobs... that is.... unless you have a 2016 Honda Civic EX that has the ability to change how the door handle unlocking operation works. With the state of the art electronics on the Civic you can change how the driver door handle unlocks the car. The settings are "open driver only" or "open all doors" which by itself is pretty cool. But again, the automatic stuff has unlisted consequences.

If you set the door handle to open driver door only this setting changes the way the key fob unlock system works, as you can no longer open all doors by pressing the key fob twice. I cannot find anywhere in the manual that suggest the separate unlocking systems override the other. As of this date I have not yet addressed this with the dealer.

Driveability; This car handles like a go-kart unless you are driving on a concrete freeway with water deflecting grooves. On normal asphalt highways at highway speeds, 70 - 80 mph this Civic does ok, but keeping it in a lane takes a conscious effort. You can let go of the steering wheel and rest assured this Civic will select its own path which is rarely straight. Worse, add a concrete surface with grooves and the ride becomes anything but groovy, in fact, it's a white knuckle ride especially if you are within a few feet of a k rail as the car pitches side to side. Also, for those that drive at high speeds (000) be prepared as you decelerate, especially if deceleration is rapid, you might have to use a little extra force to ensure the car goes in the direction of your choice.

In close, more disappointing than the few issues I have experienced with the 10th gen Civic is the customer care from Honda of America. Honda being a Japanese company has somehow failed to pass along to their American counterparts the Japanese pride in both company and workmanship. In my opinion Honda of Americas management represents the brand poorly. Honda of America makes no relevance of their customers' dedication, and in my case investing twenty-four thousand dollars in the brand they represent. This is a large chuck of change and should command the respect and desire to insure their customer receives a car that works as intended.

My experience, Honda of America is very good at evading responsibility regardless of the investment in their brand. Sadly, with this car I have missed out on the historic value in this brand. If you are using this car for in-town driving it's certainly a fun car to drive around town, but, as an owner I cannot recommend the 2016 Honda Civic EX for all uses, and I fall short of understanding how it receives such high marks from well-known reviewers.

I recalled from what I saw on my laptop screen. Stunned. Saddened. Disappointed. All the emotions a person cycles through when they are betrayed by someone they trust. I wanted to deny the validity of what I was reading and not be burdened with the truth. Yet there it was, detailed in endless harsh reviews. The signs were visible, like the Clear Coat chipping off the Honda's roof. I pointed this suspected problem out to someone who would be able to confirm or deny. However, my concerns were dismissed and the onus put squarely back on me. "It's because you didn't clean off the bird ** in time", he said.

Eventually, the entire roof had shed its protective coating. I knew it would have taken a freaking Pterodactyl sized creature to ** off that much Clear Coat, but I didn't follow up. It couldn't have possibly been a known defect, right? They would have told me if there was a factory recall instead of my just being a victim a fecal assault?

But then last night happened. I answered the phone to my daughter's panicked voice. Daughter: "I need help! I'm trying to turn left on Red Bank and the steering wheel won't turn! HELP!!!" Me: "Call the police, I'm on my way." Daughter: "HELP!" The phone disconnected. I grabbed my keys. The police car flashing lights guided me to exactly where on Red Bank the cars steering went out. Thankfully, she made it into the turn lane and was not stranded mid-turn, vulnerable to oncoming traffic. Thankfully, she was standing safely on the side of the road and not being extracted by the jaws of life or on the road covered with a sheet. We were both a bit shaken, thankful that such a freak happening ended without injury.

But here's the thing: Freak happening my ass. As it happens, the steering lock was caused by a cracked engine block - a known defect. There was a recall in 2010. And the Clear Coat thing? Also, a recall. We were notified of neither even though we purchased the car as a Certified Used Car from a dealer and had returned multiple times to the same dealer for service. Honda, you broke my heart. This was our third Honda purchase, which says a lot since we keep our cars for a long, long time. I trusted you. But you produced a sub-standard product and knowingly didn't do the right thing. Then, you endangered my child, which produces the deepest sense of disgust. Never again.

Engine block cracked due to faulty Honda part. My car (2007 Honda Civic EX coupe) broke down last night due to what I have now found out being a cracked block. Honda apparently sent out a notification of extended warranty to consumers back in 2010 & again in 2014. I NEVER received notification either time. I contacted the dealership & American Honda only to be told that the extended warranty coverage for my car ended on 9/6/16. They will not honor the warranty now.

I only drive to and from work. My '07 has only 95,556 miles on it. It has not been driven enough to cause the block to crack due to normal wear and tear. This is not my fault. Honda is obviously aware of the "FAULTY" part they put on my car, hence the extended warranty they have issued to consumers. I should not have to replace my engine due to their negligence in not notifying me. I would have taken my car in as soon as notified if I would have received something about the issue.

I take great care of my car. I have owned 3 Hondas and am appalled at how they are not helping me. This issue should really have been a national recall & not a simple extended warranty that most people didn't get notified of. I have seen numerous forums of the same thing I am going through happening to others. I took pride in my Hondas & now feel very let down & cheated by AMERICAN HONDA.

I also went through the same issue with the paint job peeling off. Never got notification of that either. A friend told me about it after seeing how bad my car was peeling. I contacted Honda only to be told the same thing, my extended warranty period had ended 4 months prior to my calling. I ended up paying on my own to have my car painted. I really hope an ATTORNEY sees this & can help us consumers out that are dealing with faulty Honda issues. Had I known the faulty visor, faulty paint & faulty cracked engine block was going to happen due to Honda's negligence, I would have NEVER BOUGHT THIS CAR.

The carpet starting coming up in the back on the floor and they said they fixed it. Today I noticed the carpet coming from underneath the seat toward the floor and we took the car to Honda. They asked for the mileage on the dash and we were told they would order new carpet for it.

Then few minutes of leaving the dealership all the lights and everything that lights up on the dashboard went completely out. We could not see anything. It was blank so called before we went back to Honda and they told us that they had never seen that happen before and they would contact a tech to see what they would say but they reset something and should be fine. Let me remind you this is a 2017 that only had 7 miles when purchased. We have spent more time taking this car to the dealership with numerous computer issues and also the carpet. I recently leased a '16 Honda Civic LX sedan, and I read at least a couple of reviews of it on Motor Trend, Car and Driver, etc., and these automotive magazines describe it has having a "sporty" steering feel. Unfortunately, that has not at all been my experience with this car. Right from the get-go, the steering felt extremely loose, vague, numb, etc. Especially when I drive on the highway, it is very difficult to keep it going straight, as if I hold the steering wheel in the center, the car will slowly drift leftward, and I keep on having to correct it toward the right to keep it going straight.

In other words, there is absolutely no on-center feel, so the car essentially drives like an old, beat up clunker. There is also a loud knocking noise coming from the front right wheel whenever I hit a bigger bump, and no dealership seems to be able to figure out which component is responsible for the noise. I have taken it to 3 dealerships multiple times, and no mechanic seems to be able to find the problem, which is downright frustrating, especially since I don't feel safe driving this car on the highway.

The sudden swerve to the right happened two times to my son but no damage occurred as no cars were in the other lane. The steering wheel wobbles while driving. The car isn't safe to drive and with the history, it is worthless as a trade in. Apparently there is a problem in the computer that happens periodically without warning causing the right front brake to suddenly engage or causing the steering to veer critically to the right. Once the swerving starts the steering cannot be engaged to correct the pull to the right. The only option now is to sell it, with disclosure, to an auction house and lose half of what I paid for the car. Very sad situation. The dealer has the vehicle as we don't trust driving it.

I am now at 53K on my car and so far the brakes have not needed work but the front will be replaced soon because I'm told 53K is a lot of miles to get without needing the first service but so far so good. My car gets about 36 MPG Combined miles and on a long trip on the highway about 40 MPG.

The car is surrounded with Airbags and great sensors in the seat that know how to turn off the passenger side bag when you put weight on it. Airbags when imploded can cost over $2k to replace and can mean the difference a long time from now in your vehicle being a total by the Insurance Company. There are so many safety features and added pluses for the $19,500 I paid for mine the year before the backup Camera and BlueTooth were added. So far it was worth every dime I've paid for it. You have to add people one by one into the speed dial to be able to voice dial them. There is cloth interior where there should be a durable plastic of some kind. The black interior with my color came with seats that are extremely light gray. There is only one 1.0 amp USB port that freezes the entire system if a call comes in while having your phone plugged in. The dashboard is confusing with cheap knobs that you have to push to switch between things such as trip odometer and life odometer, and they feel like they will break off at any moment. It is very confusing which is which.

I got the feeling the salesman did not offer the EX and explain the better features so that he could scam me with the worthless add-ons that made the car $25000 out the door. Very, very unhappy to have a car with 600 miles and five years of payments left that I am so unhappy with. I waited to get this car and all reviews are very unclear that most do not come with the features explained. I wish I would have gone Focus like I was going to. The finance salesman had me fill out the customer satisfaction survey before I even drove away and I feel that is where the good reviews I read all over came from. The dealers pay True car to be listed on their site. My daughter has a 2005 Focus that we bought in 2010 and she has not had a single problem.

Hi my son bought a 2006 Honda Civic lx 3 years ago. And its just started overheating so we had a mechanic check what the problem was. At first it was thought to be the water pump and radiator. But it wasn't. It turned out to be a engine block crack. So I went to Honda dealer to find out it was a known problem with Honda Civics (engine block cracks). So to find out that 6 months ago the extended warranty for Honda Civic has expired 2/2016.

So now here he is stuck with the only car my son's family has to take his down syndrome daughter to school and 2 year old son to day care and get himself and wife to work. So now Honda won't even try and work with my son to get it fixed. When it's a manufacturers problem with these cars. I believe that if this has been an issue and clearly its still an issue they should honor their honda name. I myself have a honda pilot and best believe I will never buy another honda again.

I cut the car off, restarted my car and the same noise began. It lasted for about a minute and then I didn't have any radio, I drove 50 mins to work. I stopped for gas and when I started my car, the noise was gone and my radio was working again. I read Lorraine's comments, she had the same problem. If it happens again, I will record the problem so that the dealership can see what is going on. Just talked to my salesman and he said he hasn't heard of this problem but they will help me if it happens again. Keep fingers crossed!!!

I think Honda needs to issue a recall on these windshield. Too many people's windshields are getting cracked before they have even made their first payment, and you can't even get them replaced because they late on back order. Windshields should take more abuse than a little pebble. I'm not sure if they are using cheaper glass or what, but something like a windshield recall should be issued on these brand new Civics.

This is our 3rd vehicle purchase with this particular auto Honda auto dealer in AZ. Our sales rep has been there for every purchase which is amazing and has made car buying for our older children amazing and a pleasant experience. My son wasn't in love with the Honda Accord but I was really pushing him towards a Honda because his older sister had a Honda Civic and it got good gas mileage and had no issues. After the new body style came out and my son saw the Civic he decided that was the vehicle he wanted. I was surprised because I thought the Accord was a little more luxurious but it he wanted the Civic. I wasn't going to talk him out of it and I kind of liked it too.

Well to make a long story short about a week after we signed a "lease" on the vehicle due to his Real-estate Career, my son told me something was wrong and that the air was only blowing hot air, not cold air. I asked him if he was certain and I checked for myself, and sure enough it was not blowing cold air. Weird. How can a brand new car break already? Any way I called the deal and I brought it down 2 days later because they were booked. I took it in because my son had to work. About 3 hours later they explained there was a fluke with the filters leading to the compressor and they were faulty, so they replaced them and it was working fine. About an hour later they came back and explained that the entire compressor blew apart in the engine and that they needed to order a new one.

I'm not a mechanic or anything. I'm hoping this didn't get fluids in the engine or ruin anything. We got the car back about 2 weeks later and everything is good so far. We will keep you posted. The dealer gave us a rental car for free and they didn't try to charge us for anything. Thank God. Just kind of surprised that a new car could have that kind of problem immediately.

My son bought a 2008 Honda Civic EX, along with an extended warranty in 2010. In August of 2013, the engine began overheating and he could smell coolant, so he called the local Honda dealer about it and was advised to add coolant. The overheating became worse until the car broke down and had to be towed to the dealer for repair. First, the extended warranty company refused to honor the claim, and then Honda itself denied the claim. We tried two separate dealers and they both said that Honda would not honor the claim.

He was stuck with a vehicle that would not run AND lost his job because he could not go to work. We could not afford to get him a new engine ($4,000), we could no longer make the payments for him, so the car was repossessed by the bank. Because of the amount of cracked engine block complaints, Honda issued an extended 10 year warranty on the engine for cracked engine blocks. Yet Honda denied our claim and even claimed we abused the engine.

Honda does not honor its own warranty nor stand behind their products. Their first tactic is to blame the customer. I read of a few people getting their engines replaced under warranty, but I wonder how many more had their claims denied like mine. I swear never to buy another Honda, and I continue to spread the word to family, friends, and those I come into contact with to not buy Honda.

    2. 8 separate visits because a led bulb kept going out one after another, fixed under warranty but 2 went out after warranty, total of 10 bulbs went out.
    3. Very annoying & loud clutch pedal squeak. Tried 3 different types of lube to no avail.

    4. Both rear brake calipers started leaking fluid from piston boots, will cost about $900. Very unusual those would fail with low mileage. I had all 4 brakes services in the Fall 2015. Only 4000 miles ago. Now I have to replace both rear pads & rotors again including new calipers. Definitely not happy w/ my purchase & most likely will never buy Honda or Acura again. I immediately came inside and called Honda Motor Corp. customer service and spoke with Jasmine. She asked me about 20 questions and told me "sorry there are no service bulletins". I said "there is nothing you can do?" "No" she replied.

I immediately filed a BBB complaint and was contacted by Kim ** who said she was a case manager. She avoided my calls and after several voicemails she finally called me back. She told me "your car is 9 years old and has too many miles so Honda is not in a position to pay for the paint repair." I told her "I would file more complaints until this was resolved." I bought our first 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid new when it was revolutionary to purchase the hybrid. Of course, the following years gas skyrocketed, and it became a smart decision. My first experience with the failure of the hybrid battery was at 120,000 miles. Honda replaced it free, saying the rules just changed to 150,000 miles or 10 years, whichever came first. So they earned my respect with that gesture for sure. Then I bought another 2003 Honda Civic for just under $5,000 that had a new hybrid battery in it and even a new paint job. Just had to replace the tires and installed a new, updated radio, and perfected it with some other things. Gave the first one to our daughter and grandson to use.

Then recently that hybrid battery IMA light went on, triggering the motor light to come on, too. But after driving it 100 miles home from my daughter's Morgan Hill, CA residence, the IMA light went off. Stockton Honda tested it twice and insisted we buy a new hybrid battery and refused to take off the motor warning light. FORTUNATELY, even that motor light went off several days later and has stayed off, so I don't plan to blow $3,000 for a hybrid battery yet. And when the time comes to purchase a hybrid battery for either of our 2003 Honda Civic hybrids, I will buy the GreenTechAuto hybrid 8 am cells (larger than the factory batteries) and located in Rancho Cordova, CA and other places in the nation, for $2,250 and have others that start at $1,451. I think this is valuable information for all hybrid owners.

Also, I feel, since my daughter and grandson only drive less than 5-10 miles a day, that could be the reason the battery registered failure and the IMA light went on and triggered the motor warning light. Honda's insistence on not taking this into account turned out to be a blessing as it has enhanced my knowledge of the hybrids. I don't think I would buy a hybrid again, though, because of these nuisances, especially now that regular gasoline engines get almost or as much as the same gas mileage.

The first rebuild I had just over 100,000, and I had just finished paying it off after five years. Was proud to own but now will never think of buying another one. I researched all vehicles before I made my decision, and I thought that a Honda would last a lifetime seeing how there are very old ones still on the road today.

Yet, I serviced my transmission and engine oil regularly, and my clutch packs still became burnt out and no longer worked from the transmission getting too hot. My conclusion and my mechanics. I feel that my model of the 2005 civic does not have sufficient cooling for the transmission. Needs a external cooler especially for the transmission and an inline filter as well. Just FYI to anyone who is wondering the underlying issues with this year and make of Honda. Now the replacement battery is failing early, after only a few years and 60,000 miles. Honda won't do a thing about it! This is a known and admitted problem for which they've already been forced to make concessions to drivers - and their only response is that they can't be held responsible for their own dealer's assurances! Now at 104k it needs a new catalytic converter due to the amount of burnt oil passed through it. Neither oil consumption (unless something mechanical is broken) or catalytic converter are covered. The car has obviously huge problems. Probably a gross polluter that could not pass a smog test. The only solution I have been offered is for me to sign a release for Honda to take my engine apart and inspect for mechanical "defects" but I have been warned that piston rings sticking (likely the problem) are not covered and I would have to pay the cost of the inspection north of $1500. Also if I simply stopped putting oil in by the gallon and let the engine fail I would likely not be covered because of the cause of the problem!

Two days later, while trying to move out of the underground parking lot, when removing the foot from the brakes, the car started accelerating with no control, hitting the entrance of the parking lot. It ended with car's total loss, and fortunately without any physical casualties. That was VERY DANGEROUS. There was a problem that prevented acceleration in the first case, and caused uncontrolled acceleration in the second case. A throttle issue was mentioned in other reviews describing similar cases. Well the car is clean as a pin interior, exterior engine runs great, has a new hybrid battery and starting battery.

The problem is the CVT transmission is a pile of garbage. It's jerky, it slips, it shudders, so I changed the fluid. It helped for about 2 weeks then back to jerky slipping and if she drives on the hwy, it goes into limp mode and engine just revs till you pull over, shut it off, start over again. Well she quit driving because she's scared of it. (Imagine getting your 1st car and being scared to drive it because you might get run over by a big rig truck. Her words not mine.) Anyway I started driving it to work. At first it sucked till I got the hang of it driving very lightly on take off and babying it until it left me on side of the hwy because of trans failure. So now we're stuck with a 3,000 dollars paper weight.

Two years ago in a snowstorm the alternator died at 85k miles and at the same time the rear defrost switch was on (which will cycle the A.C. motor via electronic relay to keep it from seizing up when unused during cold months) and this faulty relay caused the A.C. system to overload and trashed the compressor motor then loudly blowing out the freon through a discharge valve.

And the bad alternator trashed my brand new high end replacement battery, both sunvisors defective, clear coat on roof peeled off in random locations, in dash airbag light is on for three plus years now and passenger occupant sensor does not work at all now. I WILL NEVER OWN ANOTHER HONDA AGAIN, NOT AT ALL IMPRESSED WITH SUCH A LACK OF QUALITY. (Side note: this one was made in Japan.)

My car was low mileage at 63000 after 7 years but the sun visors were replaced 4 times with the same defective visors. I came back to get them replaced for round 5 and was told Honda would not replace them even after showing them special circumstances. I want replacement visors that are not defective and replaced for free. What kind of car company keeps replacing the same defective visors until they are out of warranty?

A year and a half after I had purchased my new 2007 Honda Civic, the air conditioner, which had been working perfectly, suddenly blew out without warning causing the car to stall repeatedly. I managed to limp into a nearby dealership where they determined it had to be replaced at a cost of $1100. I complained to Honda and although I was already over 36k miles, they refunded $200 toward the cost. I just read about the failed AC on the Accord, so I thought this should be mentioned. The car has over 200k miles now with no other major problems, although the brakes tend to wear out a little soon and I have to watch them. Very solid car otherwise. No problem with the paint peeling, which was a big issue for that year on Civics. I will buy another soon. Advice stay away from turbos, the engines quit after 100k, this is why Honda and Toyota avoid them.

I took my 2010 Honda Civic Coupe in last summer to have the driver side sun visor replaced. I asked if it was under warranty and was told it was not. I paid $85.00 to have a new sun visor installed because the sun visor deteriorated by a splitting hinge mechanism. Then a week ago the passenger side sun visor did the same thing. Two days ago, the driver side sun visor AGAIN broke. So now I have both sun visors constantly in the down position which blocks my views of driving. I plan to call Honda tomorrow and see if I can get an answer.

I also plan to have the sun visors replaced by the local Honda dealership, Barber Honda of Bakersfield, this weekend. If I'm asked to pay for visors, I will probably become enraged and at that point decide to picket to warn people. This same issue happened to my daughters civic, she has a little older model, but her civic year had a recall on the sun visor and she had hers replaced for free. Her other sun visor has also broken as well. Seems to me from what I'm reading that this is a common problem with Honda Civics and there is no recall. Why is Honda using the same exact sun visor on their Honda's which are known to deteriorate?

Lots of electrical issues. Car is practically brand new with no more than 13k miles. First. Backlighting on the radio controls (when driving at night w/ headlights on) blinks at random. 2nd. Switching from sources, ex. Bluetooth and aux and Fm settings, causes a glitch where it displays dozens of each option on the screen scrolling through without you. 3rd. Fuel range fluctuates at random. This is dangerous. Not knowing how much fuel is in your car and exactly how long you can drive is not safe. One moment you think you have 45 miles, then 2 miles down the road the low fuel light warning comes on. 4th and the most dangerous of all!! Acceleration works fine but when you hold it at 3k RPM THE THROTTLE STICKS!! I almost got in an accident coming around a corner because it didn't slow down on its own. Cruise control was not set. I had to hit the brakes to make the car slow down.

I took all of these issues to Honda directly. And how did they tell me they would fix it? "A lot of these things you are experiencing are normal. We need to recreate the problem. Oh and we need to drive your car around for a few days to pinpoint the issue." No. A real mechanic would know the cluster of electronics is bad. Then they proceeded to tell me my warranty was expired. Now back to the statement where my car is a 2013 with 13,000 miles. No warranty expires in less than 3 years under 13000 miles for Hondas factory coverage. Then they told me I had to rent a car because they didn't do a loaner program "like everyone else" which I'd have to pay $35 a day for. And since they'd have to drive my car for 2 days just to find the problems it'd be 70 bucks gone for nothing.

I'm taking it back to the dealership where I bought it from (Auto Lenders) and having their mechanics take care of the issue. Since they know how to treat people like humans and not idiots. Very upset. I'd rate Honda in the negative. Great cars. Bad sales rep.

Transmission started making a grinding noise when I was driving back from North Dakota to pick my son up. We were 200 miles from home and the grinding noise started from transmission. We pulled over to see what the noise was. Then when we tried driving it, the car wouldn't move. I had to have my wife drive 200 miles in my truck with a car dolly to pick us up. I've owned the car since 27,000 miles and paid extra for it because of it being a hybrid. I have done all maintenance religiously on it. I have over $6000 in maintenance and repairs that I've done in the 7 years I've owned it. The maintenance I understand is part of owning a car, but with the money in repairs I've had to put into it and now the transmission quitting, it's not worth the price difference to own a Honda Civic Hybrid. Honda hasn't been any help since I've owned the car.

When the airbag system went out at 94,000 miles it took me a week of back and forth negotiation with Honda, to get them to cover the cost. The air conditioning compressor quit at 110,000 miles and now the transmission at 152,000. The car has been in Wisconsin its whole life. The air conditioning system shouldn't have quit. That was $600 to repair. They want over $4000 to put a new transmission in. The car just isn't worth fixing. What's all the hype about Honda vehicles being so reliable? I am extremely disappointed with Honda and will never own another Honda product ever again.

Today I initiated my Class Action Suit with my attorney regarding the response from Honda for my 2005 Honda Civic Hybrid. Please contact my attorney if you have had an issue with the Hybrid IMA battery on a 2003-2009 Honda Civic Hybrid. After a year of phone calls, emails, and letters to American Honda, today I spoke to ** (800) 999-1009, extension **. I give up. I will now allow my lawyer to fight this fight for me since American Honda not only refuses to help me replace the Hybrid battery in my 2005 Honda Civic that has already been replaced once and has deteriorated AGAIN, but ** also refuses to even respond to me in writing that he cannot help. In addition he refuses to give me his supervisors name or phone number and claims he is the Case manager and says no one in that office at the following address will tell me anything different:

American Honda Motor, Honda Automotive Customer Service

    (800) 999-1009, FAX (310) 783-3023

It seems sketchy, does it not, that American Honda, an enormous and reputable company refuses to respond in writing to each and every one of my hand-written letters and/or emails? They claim that they have reached out to me by returning my phone call and that is sufficient to them. After asking on multiple occasions, several different case managers, none of them will give me a supervisors name, phone number, or email.

I have owned a Honda ever since I started driving. I had a 1988 Accord (my first car), a 1995 Civic, a 1998 Civic, a 2000 Accord, the 2005 Civic Hybrid (the subject of this issue) and have been driving a 2003 Accord since I purchased it brand new. This weekend I will sell my Accord and buy a Chevy. I can assure you I will NEVER buy a Honda again and this letter will be forwarded to everyone I know.

The IMA battery was replaced once on July 6, 2011, under the warranty I purchased from the dealership. I have taken this vehicle to the local Honda dealership for service consistently since purchasing the vehicle. During a service inspection, with the IMA light on AGAIN, they told me I would be responsible for paying to have it replaced (estimate of $3,000 - $5,000). There is absolutely no way I can afford to do so. The dealership I have been working with explained to me that the replacement battery only has a 3 year/36k mile warranty. At the time this occurred, it was 3 years almost to the date.

I have read extensive reports and service bulletins on the problems associated with these vehicles and the IMA batteries and can see that I am not alone in this situation. I have tried consistently to work with American Honda. I just knew that they would provide some type of Good-faith assistance since the battery was already replaced once. This initial battery had an extended warranty of 10 years, but the replacement had only 3. My car wasn't even 9 years old when the battery failed for a second time.

In desperation, I asked that they total my Honda Civic out, since it is not even worth the cost I would pay to have the IMA battery replaced. I did not receive so much as an offer to pay even 10-25%. I am a disabled veteran and truly disgusted with the customer service, excuse me LACK OF customer service that has been provided to me, a loyal Honda customer. As for the helpful Honda commercials that come on TV, please spare me. You can go out and buy a stranger groceries out of the blue, but refuse to offer one cent to assist a customer in repairing a vehicle that you made with defects.

This makes me scared to ever buy a new car again! From the salesperson to the vehicle itself, it's been a nightmare. April 1st, 2015, will be two years since this hell has begun. I bought the first 2013 Civic on April 1st, 2013. The date of purchase alone should have been enough. I was told that because of my credit score, I wasn't approved for any vehicle and even with a co-signer, I couldn't be approved either. I was interested in a used vehicle but that wasn't doable. I ended up with a brand new 2013 Civic. Two days later, I learned that Honda had put the vehicle in the co-signers name, that's why I had never signed any of the paperwork for the vehicle. After two months, the next issue was the IMID and the radio. In the end, that car only stayed around for five months because it shut off on the highway around 65 mph.

The brakes stopped working and I couldn't steer the vehicle. That vehicle had quite a few issues from the brakes wearing quickly to the the electrical. I started a case with the Attorney Generals office here in MD. As the case proceeded they defined the vehicle as a lemon. When I took the vehicle back to the dealer on September 28th, 2013, the Saturday after the highway incident, I was put into a new 2013 Civic. The only thing that was disclosed to me, by the same lousy salesperson, was that the new vehicle would have a 72 month/100,000 mile warranty; $1,000 Honda Flex was applied, they supposedly felt bad, so an employee discount was applied along with my down-payment and five monthly payments from the first 2013 Civic. I thought that was cool until the first statement came in the mail and I reviewed the paperwork after the owner signed. The issues with the second vehicle are endless.

The second day of owning the current vehicle, the rear window defrost stopped working. I wanted to take it back and get a refund. I was told they couldn't do that, but later learned that the paperwork for my vehicle wasn't processed 'til March 2014. Since the purchase of this vehicle, I've had a lot of issues with the electrical and the brakes. The brakes wear very quickly. Also, I filed another complaint with the Attorney General's office and this vehicle was also defined as a lemon. Today, the car CANNOT be driven and I'm very serious about pursuing my refund because I'm a young person who worked very hard to purchase this vehicle just like everyone else. I don't have money to waste on a product that isn't worth my hard-earned dollars and that I'm not satisfied with. I have a YouTube page, lots of documentation for both vehicles, pictures and videos of what both vehicles have done.

The dealer I purchased from, Pohanka Honda in District Heights, MD, American Honda and American Honda Financial Services have all been the absolute worst. I would definitely like to hear what everyone has to say about their current gen. Civic (2012-currently) and the issues they are experiencing because it would be nice to get enough people together to get Honda to take responsibility for what has occurred with there vehicles. Email me at ** to hear more and share freely please! Btw, start looking for rust in your dash and if you're purchasing a new Civic, look for the rust in the dash on your test drive. I recently took a 2015 Civic EX for a spin. I stopped to do my own little investigation and the rust was everywhere inside of the glove box and dash panel. I feel like that issue alone could be a potential root to most of the issues, electrical issues being that it means moisture is in the vehicle somewhere.

I complained in November that if I start the with the remote that the car does not warm up. I can let it run for 20 minutes and the car is still cold as ice. If I put the key in the ignition and let it idle for 10 minutes the car is toasty... I was advised that, "all Honda's don't warm up when they idle."

So I contacted Honda Canada directly on Dec 31st January 14 and most recently the end of February. They would do nothing unless I had service done with the local dealership. I contacted the local dealership in Dec and asked to speak with the manager. After three attempts and two messages from an underling telling me the manager would call me. I had to threaten to come into the middle of the showroom and verbally express my concerns at the top of my lungs before I got a call back from the manager **.

They finally took my car for three days, gave me another civic during that time (upgraded version, same problems) then called me back to tell me the remote was working. I demanded the remote be removed and that the refund the $500+ that I was charged. Now I have a car with no remote, that I cannot put an aftermarket remote starter or my warranty will be voided (confirmed by Honda Canada again). So I bought a 2012 Civic SI Sedan from Nelsons Honda in El Monte. Wonderful car until couple months after I bought it, the Bluetooth stopped working. It'll connect with various devices. In my car and in the other side of the call it would make a loud buzzing noise and couldn't hear anything. Went to the dealer and they said it was my phone that was not compatible with the Bluetooth. I had a brand new Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Since they didn't want to fix it I did not bother going back to El Monte which was kind of far for me since I live approx 25 miles away from there. The nearest dealership I had was Downtown Honda of Los Angeles. I started going to Dtla Honda, kept on seeing the techs goofing around with my car (revving the engine repeatedly and honking and laughing). As I asked to speak with the service manager and as i explained to him what was going on, he pretty much made me feel bad for making it a big deal and did nothing for that inconvenience.

So I stopped going there and I started going to Honda of Santa Monica. At first, great service but by the the time I started taking my Civic Si, it was making a weird screeching noise coming from inside the engine bay (only when I would take off from 1st gear). I took it in and they flushed the tranny Oil. They said it was fine. Days later it did the noise again and I called to report it and they asked if I could bring it in. So as I did and they flush my clutch fluid as well and said it'll be fine from now on and guess what? It did it again and as I took it in for the third time, they asked me to leave them the car for couple days so they can give it a good check up and they told me they found out it was my clutch Throwout bearing. So they replaced it and I was hoping it would end there but no. It did it again about 3 weeks after and I called right away but they told me I had to replicate the noise and/ or record it. Up to this point January 4th of 2015 the noise is still there. I was told they would not replace my clutch no matter what. I'm up warranty now but I don't know what to do now and I want to see if I can make a further complaint with HONDA OF AMERICA to see if they can help me out. I purchased a 2005 Hybrid at the end of September of that year. The car handled wonderfully until 2011. My mileage decreased from a usual 44 mpg on open road to less than 30 mpg. It was changed. It was covered. Almost 2 years to the day, the battery went again and it had to be replaced in 2013. That was covered. Now, it's begun its fall from grace, again. I have been complaining to the dealer but they do not agree. Fine. I asked them about the warranty. I was told it had expired in September. I said I had been complaining about it beforehand, which is why I had brought it in but they said I would have to pay for it - nearly $5,000! Then, I'm told that the transmission is what Honda is seeing failing in the Civic 2005 hybrid!

So, I am on my 3rd battery, and I'm looking to sell/trade it in because I no longer have confidence in the car. Mileage has decreased. I only have a little over 46,200 miles. In 2011, the dealer said I should never have made the purchases because I wasn't driving it enough. Shouldn't that have been disclosed before I made the purchase? After the first replacement, I was told that I didn't drive fast enough to keep the battery alive. I was told that again this year. Is there nothing I can do? I thought Honda would offer another extended warranty. I can't afford a new car. I started looking at the Insight and Fit, but I'm hesitant to buy another Honda. I want other owners to be made aware of the problems.

2012 Civic "dead battery" resolution - I went to leave to church yesterday and had a dead battery. I had to get a jump start. A few hours later, it was dead again when I went to leave. After getting to my friend's home, I checked the voltage with my Fluke meter, it was 12.5V at idle at the battery and at the alternator. I disconnected the fuse for the daylight driving lights (the only thing "on") and nothing happened. I then turned on the head lights to see if the voltage would drop even more, it actually went up to 14.4V! I turned on the A/C and it stayed in the 14V range. Either there is a problem with the voltage regulator system or it is a computer programming issue. I let it run with headlights on for a bit while I checked a few other things, such as loosening battery terminals and twisting them to remove possibility of oxidation. I went to leave four hours later and the car started right up. I had to do the 18 mile drive home with the lights on last evening with no problems until the check TPWS warning came on. I found nothing wrong with tire pressures. The car started right up this morning.
