I had AAA for years, and never had issues. I decided to switch companies because my values do not align with what I discovered about AAA’s campaign contributions. I signed up for Good Sam 6 months ago, and tried to use the service for the first time today. Our car is disabled. We were able to make it home, but we need to get it to the mechanic. I worked from home today so I could be available. In total, I was on the phone with a Good Sam dispatcher 4 times today. 6 hours after I first called, I had to cancel the request because the mechanic we were towing to was closing and there is nowhere safe to leave the vehicle after hours.

When I finally cancelled, the dispatcher told me the tow truck driver was “at my location twice today, but was unable to locate the vehicle.” The “location” is my home, and the car is sitting out in the driveway, the only car there, clearly visible from the road 8 ft away. She told me, “He called twice, but you didn’t answer.” I had one missed call on my phone, from New York, while my location is Washington State. I do not answer spam calls while I am working, so no, I would not have answered an out-of-state call. At no point did any tow truck pull into my driveway today, at any time.

Every tow truck driver I have ever had had texted me to give me updates. I have no text message from any driver, advising they were close or saying they were arriving. Now I will have to wait till I can work from home again, and if calling 6 hours beforehand isn’t early enough to get service, I don’t know what time I would have to call. Hands down the WORST experience I have ever had with a tow truck call. I am terribly disillusioned with my very first experience ever with “Good” Sam.

I called this up. What they sounded was to be good to be true. Unlimited miles. Right. I ask for specialty vehicles. I ask will it be told. Will it cost extra. Got told no. I Mede to get my car to a new place. I got a quote for 550 dollar. So I cancel my membership. It to me a false advertisement. Would not recommend.

I would not recommend this company, for an extended service plan. I was lured by the low price, but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. Initially I was aware that, there is separate annual membership fee, in addition to the monthly fee. If you’re considering this company, I would strongly recommend checking with your repair shop first. My dealership does accept their coverage, due to reimbursement issues. It’s a terrible feeling, thinking that you're covered and then trying to find somewhere, that will take a chance on your insurance company

They are not a scam, they are cheaper, can a customer service is 100% better than Triple A. They have unlimited towing. Their customer service went above and beyond, helping me get my car towed when I just had a flat tire and I also have them come and jump start my truck before but the towing, they went above and beyond to get my car towed home. I'm better than any other website assistance I've ever had. The prices is way cheaper than anybody else's, and their services so much better. I would recommend them. I do recommend them, all my friends and family they're awesome.

As others are stating, I had purchased the premium package for my Son and DIL. Both work and have unreliable vehicles. My pregnant DIL was stranded on the highway outside of Lexington, KY. I was happy with my customer service rep at that time, assuring coverage and they did take care of her with the dearest tow company. But they did NOT cover the tow. A time prior while stranded, they couldn't get anyone to answer and had to pay for a tow. I had heard good things about Good Sam, but it's an absolute scam. No one will pick up the phone, so I can cancel my automatic renewal.

Run as far away from this company as possible. They’ll leave you stranded for 3 hours on the freeway. They also will charge you for going to your preferred mechanic if it’s more than 10 miles away. They don’t care about how long you’ve been waiting or providing a better service. I highly recommend you go with Triple AAA. They may be a little more expensive but the reliability is what you're paying for. These guys at Good Sam’s just doesn’t have it.

I am a member since April 2024. I never used any of their services. But on September 10, 2025 I tried to login to the website to review my plan. The website blocked me, said I had to renew my password. I tried to do so, but every attempt was blocked. I called customer service. After at 15++ minute wait (and many many sales pitches), I hung up and called their Roadside Assistance. Again, a 15+ minute wait (with sales pitches), then a robot voice told me they were facing an "unusually high call volume" and to visit the website (??How, as I might be broken down by the roadside??) or to call back later. This is NOT a dependable service. Be as that may, I stayed on the line while and "automagically a person answered".

Now I had to repeat every aspect of my identity (name, email address, mailing address, phone number). Remember, this could have been a true roadside emergency. Person said, even though the website says it rejects your password, actually the last one you submitted is the valid one. Additional note: "We are revamping our website." How true <sarc>. By the way, there are 3 aspects to their service: Membership, Roadside Assistance, Travel Assistance with differing lengths of subscription. One could easily suppose that his membership was valid but still lose Roadside Assistance. Hopelessly complicated. GoodSam is a money grab, but not reliable when you need it.

I have been a Good Sam member for 25 years and always bought Platinum roadside assistance. I liked it because it was cheaper than AAA and covered all my vehicles, even when I wasn't the driver. And, it covered me, even when I was in someone else's vehicle. They generally answer the hotline quickly, but that is pretty much the only thing they are still doing.

I have a small Class C motorhome that had a mechanical problem on Labor Day afternoon. We needed a tow to a local service place about 6 miles away. Should be covered. My service plan only includes up to 100 miles or $1500 of towing, but that shouldn't be an issue six miles from the capital city of my state. The disablement happened at 3pm; I was having another driver move it to a camping location for me. They called me at home and I reached Good Sam about 3:30. That was when I learned that another company had taken them over last October and changed the contract terms. My contract auto-renewed in November with ZERO notice that anything had changed.

New rules: towing to nearest facility equipped to work on your vehicle (within 100 miles) is only allowed if the facility "agrees" to accept your vehicle for service before the tow. if there is no one at the service facility to "agree", you are only allowed to have it towed to a campground, hotel or other place where someone will allow you to park it overnight; then YOU have to call Good Sam again the next day to start a new ticket to have it towed the rest of the way to a facility that agrees. They call this a "safe tow", which gets you off the side of the road. towing can only be provided by their service partners, and is only covered up to $1500. Anything over that you have to pay in advance.

once you've called in your information, it is forwarded to a dispatcher, who is supposed to find a provider and call or text you back with updates on who will do the tow and when they will arrive. I've found it is problematic if you have a home phone attached to your account and need them to contact you at a different mobile number. Even if you give them specific information, if they call at all, it will be to that home phone. If they do not find a provider, they have no obligation to call you back to let you know; you have to call them to check. They will not tell you they've stopped looking; they just tell you to check back in another hour or two.

I drove out to where my disabled camper was stuck on a highway on-ramp and took my driver home. Then, I went back to wait with the camper for the tow. By 5:30, still no notification. At 6:10, I called to check in; they had not found a provider, but asked me to check back in another hour. At that point, I was getting worried because I was sitting on a rural-ish highway ramp and it was fast getting dark, so I wasn't easily visible. I started calling local providers. I discovered that local providers were all closed for the holiday, so I called some of the 24x7 providers in the area. None of these are in Good Sam's network, but I had hope.

About 8pm, one provider quoted me $950, payable in advance of sending out the truck, which I did. He was supposed to be there in an hour or less. About 5 min before the hour was up, the company called me to say his truck had broken down and the only other truck available was three hours away in another state and would cost another $550, in advance. I refused the offer. They immediately slapped a 'processing fee' of $39 onto my refund--even though *they* didn't provide the service and canceled the transaction. I now have to wait until both charges post and dispute it through my credit card company. It is now 9:30pm. I am sitting on a highway ramp in the dark, with my flashers on.

I called more emergency numbers. All of them quoted something like $1500-$1800 to go 11 miles (4 miles to get to the next exit and turn back for town to the service company that was 6 miles away). None of the people I spoke to on the phone knew anything about the area, so even though I gave them an exact location (highway exit number, specific ramp and direction, nearby town, plus specific make, model and size of my unit), they insisted that I needed to provide satellite coordinates using Google or Apple maps. Then, after they finally found me, they told me it would require a heavy duty truck because a loaded motorhome is too heavy for a light duty truck. I know it's not, since I've had it towed that way before, but they wouldn't listen.

I eventually discovered that there are only about three drivers with heavy duty trucks available on a holiday, and all of the services I called were just agents for the same dispatchers and trucks. The agents didn't know this, but I found out because one of the ones I called said that my ticket (from that earlier provider) had already been canceled. (And, while you're waiting on hold, it's the same musical track.) They wouldn't let me re-establish the same ticket; I had to start a new one. Since the one driver's truck was down, it was back to the one in another state, or a closer one that had gone to some other call that was still in excess of three hours away. One service said that maybe I could make an appointment for a morning tow at 10am, for only $1200, but if I wanted earlier, I would have to pay $1400. They expected me to sit in my car all night because they needed the keys to my camper in order to hook up a tow.

At 11pm, I gave up and called the local police to alert them that my camper was disabled there. They came out to check out the situation and the officer also tried to locate a tow; he had local numbers, but everyone said there was no way they could tow a small camper. Eventually, he marked the camper and told me to go home (an hour away); they would continue to patrol for the night and make sure no one hit or broke into the camper.

In the morning, I called the service company myself and got assurance I could bring it in. They also gave me the local number for a tow company I had used before and said the charge should be around $300-$400. I called that provider and they assured me they could find a driver, but would call me back 45 min before he was to arrive, so that I wouldn't have to sit out there very long.

Within the hour, they called to give me the heads up. This whole operation took only two hours; the tow showed up only five minutes late. I did not have to provide satellite coordinates, or pictures of the camper, or pay in advance. It took about a half hour to get the camper hooked up to a light duty truck (which just lifted the front end and towed it with the rear wheels down). By 10am, it was in the service company's lot. The total charge, even with a 3% surcharge for using a credit card, was $395. Good Sam is allowing me to file for a reimbursement, but said that it will not likely be granted because I didn't use one of their network providers.

Lessons learned: 1) you will not likely find a tow service for your RV on a weekend or holiday (unless it is before noon on Saturday)--no matter what roadside assistance plan you have. 2) Good Sam does not care about your safety; they never called me back, even after I called to check in, even after two days, even though I was alone, on the side of the road at night. They didn't even let me know that the "safe tow" to a local hotel was not going to happen. 3) Good Sam roadside assistance can change the terms of your contract (the one you read and signed and paid for) without telling you; in fact, they can continue "renewing" the old contract automatically and never notify you that its terms have changed.

    4) You will likely never receive one penny of value from the membership fees you pay. 5) I probably need a much larger emergency fund than I thought when I'm traveling. At least $2000 you can access on a debit or credit card where you can prove the transaction occurred. I would not pay cash; even a receipt would not likely be accepted as proof of payment for reimbursement.

I was able to obtain a phone number to register a complaint. I haven't made the call yet, but hopefully it's real: 866-232-8990. Even though I've been a member for 25 years, and have had decent service in the past, this experience was the last straw. I will not be spending the money to renew. Hopefully, I will be able to cancel successfully using the online service, since you can no longer do that by phone.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure that ANY roadside service plan for an RV can really be effective unless you are in a very populated area that has a lot of RV traffic and services. They all have their own networks, and no one seems interested in providing services on a weekend or holiday. Probably, in that situation, your best bet is whatever vehicle insurance company you have, if they have roadside assistance coverage. They will at least reimburse you if you can provide evidence of what you paid and that it was necessary under the circumstances. I would have rated the service zero stars, except that it's not an option.

After 3 service calls, they took the liberty to cancel us. I had submitted a claim for tire reimbursement prior to their 'we've decided to cancel' email, and after telling us twice that it would be processed, received a denial letter basically saying 'too bad, we dropped you.' Hours on the phone trying to rectify with no luck. NOT a good faith company. And no reimbursement of the monies for the service. Save yourself the frustration and go with AAA.

In my opinion this is a predatory scam. Buyer beware. AAA roadside service is way better. I am canceling my membership and will be getting AAA Roadside service. I was told that the service would tow my vehicle up to 100 miles to the shop of choice. 1st time I used the membership they told me they only tow to the closest shop open for repair. 1st tow was $200 Sam's Club did not cover any of the tow. Second time I was told it would be $160 to tow it to the closest dealership because there was a shop just up the street. Didn't matter if the shop was accredited or if they had certified mechanics if they have an address they can dump it off at they will dump it at the closest shop.

Customer services job is to find a reason not to have to provide the service you are paying for. They just want to weasel out actually providing the service. I called a tow company and was able to get it towed for $50 less than Good Sam quoted me with my membership discount. I said why would I use your service if there is literally no coverage and it costs me more money to use your service. Do yourself a favor, do not use this company.

Another terrible experience with Good Sam. Had a flat tire, called GS and my call was terminated 3 times without being put in the queue because "their reps were busy." Finally got thru and the lady asked a bunch of questions about our motorhome (which they should have already known since I'm a member) while I explained that we were sticking out on a narrow road and to get me a service provider ASAP. Nope, she just continued with her nonsense, then told me they would send a text with the dispatch info. It took an 1-1/2 hour just to receive the text! By that time, some good Samaritans helped us change the tire. Finally got a text that said the dispatch was still 1-1/2 hours away. I CANCELLED the service dispatch and went on my way. No followup from GS. They really don't care. I'm not sure why I continue to utilize their roadside assistance. It's truly an exercise in frustration and pretty much useless.

I just had to use this service that I purchased back in June. Normally I have used Allstate roadside assistance, but this was cheaper. My daughter needed a tow, so she contacted Good Sam's customer service. They did send a tow company, but would only tow it to a mechanic shop, not to my house which was closer. She was quoted it would be $60 out of pocket for them to tow the car home. I already purchased the Platinum plan. Some people don't have money for a mechanic upfront. So, if they would have towed the car to a mechanic shop, the mechanic shop would have charged me money for the car being on their property.

The tow truck driver even reached out to Good Sam's to see what he could do. They told him No, that it cannot be towed home. I never had an issue with Allstate so I will be renewing my membership with them and not renew my membership with Good Sam's. It might be cheaper, but I guess you get what you pay for. So much for unlimited towing...In meantime they say it will be at least 2 additional hours to sit on 2 lane highway causing traffic issues. My husband contacted Les Schwab and they had a truck and tire to us within the hour.

Now trying to get reimbursement for the tire, which according to sales manager we spoke to when purchasing, she confirmed we get 2 reimbursements a year...Up to $750. We sent in our itemized receipt, together with the photos we had taken as back up but apparently the photos were not detailed enough and they indicated they did not receive the tire receipt, which all have been sent multiple times to both the 3rd party tire company who handles the claim (unbeknownst to us) and to GS...So doesn't look good for any reimbursement...Not even the tire...So basically...we did all the work...found a cheaper solution...and faster to get us out of danger, and they just wasted their time and money not helping us while we pay their expenses.

Then comes the SO CALLED Trip interruption. WELL THAT'S only if you're in an accident, Lady tells me to call my insurance co. they are the one to cover trip interruption. True Story. I was driving through Las Virgenes Rd in Calabasas, CA heading towards Malibu for work. It was about 4am, dark and rainy. There are always landslides on such road and even though I was driving slowly, I hit a darn rock, which blew out the front passenger door on my F450. I called GS and they said it'd be about 1.5hrs before they could make it there. Around 6am I called again and they said they couldn't find me(!), so I gave them my coordinates and asked them to call me when they were on the Las Virgenes Rd. Nada, they never showed up. Took hours with us sitting on the side of Interstate 35 in rain to have anyone to come out. Plus we had to pay upfront for the service [even with all of our so called coverage]. They said just send in receipt and they would reimburse us. We followed their guides and still after months haven't received reimbursement. So what good is GS policies if we still are required to pay out of pocket??? I don't see any value in any of the GS programs. What a rip off! Please do not purchase anything from GS!!!! I have wasted days trying to talk to customer service, hours on their telephone tree system, transferred multiple time and finally giving up and want to do anything I can to prevent anyone else from making the same mistakes and wasting your money, efforts and time.

I have had Good Sam for years. I sold my RV so I no longer needed it. I went to the GS website in the membership area and hit a clearly marked button that said: Cancel Your Membership. A message came up that said cancellation request was received and they we're working on it. The next morning I get up and find an email saying that my membership renewed. I called immediately and processed the cancellation and automatic renewal.

The following day I find a renewal of membership charged to my credit card. I called again and they said that it was cancelled for all future renewals, but this one couldn't be stopped and GS doesn't do refunds. This is a total scam and rip off. I clearly hit the cancellation button and was told that they were working on it. By that they meant charging my credit card for the service I just cancelled with no refund possible. I was a long time GS user. They were an organization that was really helpful to their customers. Now they are just another predatory company ripping people off. Their roadside assistance is really bad. Their RV valuator is totally biased towards Camping World and other big RV companies. And their membership is high pressure, a scam and preys on the consumer. This is not the Good Sam it was 10 or 20 years ago.

Good Sam Roadside Assistance Failed us and abandoned us. Our motorhome broke down in Cow Canyon Oregon on US Highway 84 at midnight. We had no cell signal and could only call 911 who in turn called Good Sam for us. We did not get a tow until the next morning at 6:00AM and that was after several phone calls to Good Sam and contacting the towing company ourselves. The towing company came from Portland because Good Sam failed us and could not locate a tow! We were not safe and halfway still on Dalles California Highway blocking traffic. We eventually were helped by the Oregon Highway Department of Transportation in a pick up truck that towed us 200 feet to a small dirt pull out about 2:45 AM. Thanks to them we were not killed by a driver that would not be paying attention.

We were between Madras and Maupin Oregon. Good Sam was unable to locate any type of repair facility within 100 miles. We ended up finding a commercial Ford Repair Shop in Gresham, OR and had our motorhome towed there, again without Good Sam's help as their cost was twice what we got quoted by the same towing company. On top of all this their Customer Service has no record of any of our phone calls for help so for them our being broke down and abandoned by Good Sam never happened.

"Good" my ass!!! They don’t even deserve a one-star rating. My experience with this company was completely unacceptable and unprofessional from start to finish. The first customer service representative I spoke with was rude and dismissive simply because I didn’t have immediate answers to her questions. She became hostile, used profanity, and ultimately refused to send help after overhearing me tell my husband how rude she was being. We were told someone would call and text us with updates — that never happened. We waited over four hours with no contact whatsoever. Eventually, another representative (who was at least courteous) did manage to dispatch someone. However, the individual who arrived couldn’t communicate with us, spoke no English, stayed less than five minutes, didn’t resolve the issue, and still charged us $257. Nothing was fixed.

Later, another customer service rep called to follow up. I explained we were charged $257 for no service and that we had no idea why because the technician couldn’t explain anything to us due to the language barrier. Instead of addressing the issue, the rep accused me of being “racist” for stating a simple fact. When I pushed back against that outrageous accusation, the rep sarcastically asked if they had “triggered” me. This behavior is appalling and completely unprofessional. I will be canceling my membership immediately. This company is not only incompetent — it is offensive, unaccountable, and should not be in business.

If Good Sam reads this review, go to your phone calls being recorded in your customer service department on the evening of 6/1/25 starting at around 2pm with the very first rude CSR. Unless she did not record the part of her being rude and F bombing me. The second CSR told me calls were recorded when she accused me of being "racist" when I said the "help" didn't speak English....

We decided to call 911 as the traffic was heavy and we felt in danger. Within minutes a patrolman was there and offered to get us a tow truck. He said that frequently roadside assistance could take hours.

We again called Good Sam and they again said they couldn’t find anyone. We cancelled the request and the patrolman had a tow truck there in just a few minutes. We were towed to a shop and the guy was so nice he even changed our tire. We had to pay him right then of course. When we tried to get our money back from Good Sam it was a HUGE hassle. I left triple A and purchased a membership through good Sam back in February. I based my decision to do this after receiving false information from a Good Sam representative and their website. As you can see from the screenshot I attached to this review, a reasonably intelligent person would gather that there is no mileage cutoff before being charged for towing. When I called to speak with a rep to sign up, this was confirmed to me. You see, I live 30 miles away from the nearest town that has repair centers. I would have never agreed to switch had I known only 22 miles would be covered on towing. That makes zero sense for me to do that when I got 100 miles with triple A.

This morning, I call in and speak with a representative because my car needed to be towed due to a flat tire. I requested a tow instead of a tire change because the car sits so low to the ground that it is dangerous to drive to the nearest repair shop on a donut. It was explained to me (by not the friendliest of people they have hired) that it would cost me $129 since it is over 22 miles of towing. Imagine my surprise.

So instead of just getting me a tow truck to take my car 30 minutes to town, Good Sam reached out to a tow truck company, which is 1.5 hours from me, to come out and put a donut on. Another problem is the response time. I called at 7:45 am to make the request, and it wasn’t even acted on until 9:45. Then the towing company says it will be up to 190 minutes before they’ll respond to our call.

    I just don’t get it.

    1. Why was Good Sam not up front from the beginning by telling me I’d only get 22 miles of towing? The language used in their advertising and by their reps is deceptive. This effectively took away my ability to make a sound decision on the company from whom I chose to purchase coverage.

    2. Why would good Sam secure a contractor from an hour and a half away? There are companies within 30 minutes of me. Was this really the best option, financially or time wise?? When I signed up, the rep told me that finding contractors would not be a problem. I specifically asked him if Good Sam has contractors only area. He assured me that you all had Contractors everywhere and getting to me in a timely manner would never be a problem. Today, the first time I am using the service I purchased, I feel that Good Sam has NOT taken my time into consideration. Now my son is extremely late to school and my husband late to work (if they make it at all). Their company has not treated our time as something of value AT ALL.

I highly suggest that there be some additional training for their call center reps. I really don’t even care that she sounded disinterested in helping me. The fact that here I am nearly three hours later with still no help is a massive problem to me. Only to be compounded by the problem that my husband is going to be making a dangerous drive to our repair shop due to your hidden 22 mile policy. I invited whoever responds to customer complaint emails to go back and listen to my original phone call when I purchased the coverage. Everything I am saying was said actually was said. I was just flat out deceived. Now here I am sitting around and waiting for some only God knows who company to show up to my HOME. I am not entirely convinced, at this point, that someone is really even on the way. To say I am disappointed with my Good Sam purchase is an understatement.

Good Sam won’t show my review on any of their web sites. They are awful to deal with. In about 9 years, we’ve had 2 claims. The first was a flat tire on the freeway. We waited over 3 hours in the rain for Good Sam to send help. We finally called and paid someone ourselves and were on our way half an hour later. A month ago our 5th wheel broke at 9:30 pm and we were stranded. I called Good Sam and explained our situation. We needed special equipment to lift the trailer off the truck so it could be towed. I was told they couldn’t help until morning. We couldn’t leave the truck and trailer where they were and couldn’t drive it at all. The dispatcher said to try and find someone ourselves and turn the bill into Good Sam for reimbursement.

Our claim was denied. They essentially said I lied about calling for help and needed proof of the call. I gave them my Verizon call log showing I made a 26 minute call to Good Sam. They then denied the claim saying they couldn’t read the invoice. I sent another one. Now they have denied the claim saying they listened to the tape of the call (this would be the call they didn’t believe I made) and said I had refused a tow. They won’t let me hear the call but if I did do that, it would have been because it was impossible to tow anything until the trailer was disconnected from the truck. And we needed the special equipment that they wouldn’t provide in order to do that. They only use companies that work with them and they could be 100 miles away so you have to wait for help. Best scenario is if you have a flat in your driveway and you live across the street from a Good Sam approved garage. Otherwise you’re screwed. We’re canceling our policy.

We had a wheel bearing fail on Route 40 in New Mexico, a passing car flagged me over to the side. I went to look and saw smoke from the front wheel on the trailer. I called Good Sam and I was told that they would find someone to tow me back to Gallop which was 40 miles away. After an hour the RS assistant called me back and said I would have help in 63 minutes. After two hours I went to find bearings and replaced them myself. They were not the exact fit, so I slowly drove back the 40 miles to Gallop . At 8 pm that evening I got a call from a guy who was out looking for my trailer, I told him I cancelled the tow and fixed it myself. My RS assistant called me said I should go to R.G Truck Service in Gallop.

I called them and I was assured they would have me on the road first thing in the morning. He even let us park in his lot. At 9 am the owner comes in and gets the guys going, I asked him to put in the new bearings, a brake drum and a brake back plate, and I asked him to check the other 3 wheels. He said he would repack them also. My wife and I left for breakfast and came back an hour later, the one wheel was finished and the tech was pumping grease into the rear trailer bearing buddys, I just assumed that they did not repack the other bearings. The owner had more business somewhere else and told me that the repair was going to be $1025.00 for three hours work and about $100 worth of parts. Then I was told cash or bank transfer.

So I was ripped off by the guy GS sent me to, I GS never got me any emergency roadside help. I did look at the repair shop website later that day and found 160 reviews that said stay away, highway robbery, $160 per hour labor and sky high parts cost. Why would they send anyone to a site like that? Because they don't check on vendors. So no RSA and highway robbery. I also called GS to see if I could get my repair cost from the their insurance, NO! I asked to get the money I sent on insurance back, NO! I asked to speak to a supervisor, I was told, let me find out who was in this morning and I was hung up on.

DON'T TRUST GOOD SAM ROADSIDE. We've been with Good Sam for 14 years and this isn't the first time they left us stranded. We're going back to adding Roadside assistance to our auto and RV policy.

I called Good Sam, and the first thing I realized when I get through phone prompt hell was how rude the actual person was when getting my information. After a couple of hours trying to find me a tow truck, they came, said it would be $1700ish dollars for a 22 mile tow, and they would only cover $150 bucks of that amount! I pay $230 a year and the first time I need them they will only cover $150??? They just sent me a renewal notice offering $10 discount.... Get out of here! I have cancelled. Thank God I raised a mechanical son that was able to grab his work truck and come out to help. So be forewarned, Good Sam will leave you stranded.

This was the worst money we spent. First off, we waited 12 hours for a tow truck. This would have been somewhat understandable if we were in the middle of nowhere but we were in Las Vegas city limits. Then the tow driver who was sent failed to put our car in neutral and dragged it onto his tow bed. He then used WD40 and bounced the car off his truck. He ripped our bumper, broke a $500 part and pulled our car out of alignment. To top it off the guy had the audacity to ask for a $100 tip. The money and distress this have cost us was not with the "free tow". We also have yet to benefit from our membership in any way. No free dumps, no discounts. Save yourself the headache and either have money in a separate account for emergencies or an emergency credit card.

I have a Class A diesel pusher motorhome, In August of 2022 coming back from the Oregon Coast I had a hole in my radiator and called GS roadside assistance and sat on the side of the road for 25 hours before a Tow truck arrived. In August of 2023 I had an inside tire on the driver's side pick up some nails 30 miles east of Ogden UT. Called Good Sam Roadside assistance and they couldn't find anyone that could come out and fix the tire so crept it into Ogden @ 30mph to a tire center and got it fixed. I will say GS Wheel and Tire warranty covered all the expense.

Sunday August 4th of 2024, I had major engine failure in Green River WY, on a hill right before the tunnel on I-80, Due to previous experiences I called for local business to send technician out to find the problem and was told that I would have to have towed to their truck shop in Little America 26 miles away. I then called GS roadside assistance, and the dispatcher told me they wouldn't work with the company and wouldn't pay them, I asked if I paid it would they reimburse me and she said yes. I called to file claim and was again told I would be reimbursed up to 1500.00 by my policy. A third representative told me I would be reimbursed and that my policy also allowed reimbursement on the technician coming out.

Now I have been told my claim is denied because I didn't call them first. The customer service agent got me the supervisor on duty, He told me that was the way the policy reads, and I wasn't going to get anything. You buy warranties and roadside assistance for peace of mind. My tow bill was $2957.14 to go 26 miles. I do not recommend GS roadside assistance. and moreover, I don't recommend Rocky Mountain Truck Service for repairs, but that's another story.

Filed a claim for the first time in the ten-plus years I’ve had a membership with Good Sam Roadside Assistance. It was a claim for reimbursement on a blown tire on my Motorhome. It happened in June this year and I just got my answer today. Apparently when you are on a highway with vehicles flying past you and you get a blown out your concern shouldn’t be for your safety but it should be for taking pictures of your blown tire, keeping the blown tire and taking pictures of the new mounted tire. I own a 35’ Class A Motorhome. I was thankful we didn’t flip the RV when the tire blew. I was even more thankful that none of us were injured during this time. Please be very aware of what the requirements are for filing a claim. I called their 800 number immediately and asked what I needed to do. I was never told of these requirements. I’ve paid $229 a year for ten-plus years for absolutely nothing. Don’t waste your money!

I was told that they will not tow you out of a shop if they don't tow you in at first place. I told them this is mess up because what if I didn't have them prior to this and decided to get roadside after the car is in the shop but the shop is going out of business and will not be able to fix it, they said they can't do anything about it. All of their online plan details are intentionally misleading. The rep I spoke to knew I was only getting the plan for towing and didn't led me to believe the towing was unlimited mileage. When I was told it would be an extra $100, I called Good Sam. Was told that the limit is 15 miles to the nearest service center. One of the brochures I was sent reads as such "Our 24 hour, 365 days per year dispatch center is available with a toll-free call. There are NO PRESET MILEAGE LIMITS: however refer to service LIMITATIONS for the important LIMITS and exclusions". Additionally, if you Google this "company", you will see verbiage that says, quote, "Unlike the competition, we offer UNLIMITED DISTANCE TOWING and free tire and fuel delivery." I’m also thinking about canceling my Good Sam membership and ordering my camping supplies on Amazon because I have realized that the prices inside the store are higher than prices on their website. So if you are a novice to the Camping World scheme, you may be paying 20% more in store, than online.

I asked how my email was obtained, I was told because I was an existing customer?? I was told I would have to leave and come back in a year.

Wanting to help with this disconnect, I was told indeed the marketing department made a mistake offering existing customer this discount, but that they would not honor this mistake?? The only thing I did accomplish was to have my correct phone number changed, and current address updated??? Not the way to run a business!

Good Sam is a complete rip off. We had a membership for over a year and traveled in our motorhome extensively during that time. Not one park or campground that Good Sam claimed would give us a discount, honored that discount. We tried using most of the "benefits" this membership supposedly offered, on countless occasions, but may as well just flushed that money down the drain.

On top of this, they automatically renew your subscription to ensure you regret your mistake, just in case it slipped your mind. I can't wait to see this terrible company go out of business. This is the old used car salesman style that will soon go the way of the dodo (high pressure salesmen who promise the world, but in the end you're stuck with nothing but buyers remorse) and am starting the process of making sure I play my legal part in their demise. In the meantime, please do yourself a favor and run if ever confronted by their hardsales tactics - they will tell you anything to "get your business" or in other words, to get your money before you find out the membership is utterly worthless.

    Original Review: March 10, 2024

I just purchased roadside assistance for my car less than an hour ago, I read the reviews of how great their service is, when I purchased online I got a message saying the details of my coverage was emailed to me and coverage doesn't start until 48 hours after my purchase. I didn't receive any confirmation email, I understand my coverage does not start yet, but every other purchase I make online I receive a confirmation email, even when I had AAA, which is not available Florida, that's the only reason I don't have now. So I thought I'd call and ask why I didn't receive my confirmed purchase through my email, "big mistake"!

The representative was beyond rude and unprofessional, I simply asked does the receipt of purchase take a couple of days to receive because I hadn't received it yet through email, so he started to explain how coverage doesn't go into effect until 48 hours after payment is received, so I said I wasn't asking about coverage I was asking about my receipt of purchase, so this guy took a long deep breath for about 5 seconds and started back over repeating the same exact thing like I was an idiot, he completely dismissed what I asked him, (I mean the nerve of me to interrupt him while he was talking asking about a purchase i made with my money). I hope the service is not as horrible as their customer service, otherwise I want my money back..

Throughout the day, I spoke to them 5 more times, reaching 4 new people. After hearing that my ticket was submitted completely wrong 3 times, I finally found someone who seemed to know what he's doing. By then, they had contacted 3 different tow companies, one of them 3 times!! Unfortunately, the person who seemed to know how to get things done, was leaving at 3:30 !! I was told that no tow companies were available until the next morning! I notified the State Patrol of my predicament and my motorhome sat overnight.

At 8:17 on Wednesday morning, I called Good Sam again. They couldn't find information from the day before, so it started all over again. This time, they dispatched a truck from over 100 miles away!! At 11:13, a truck arrived. (At my recommendation, they called a company just 6 miles away.) As the driver was connecting my vehicle, he asked how I was going to pay the bill. Two more calls to straighten that out. In summary... 25 hours waiting on a tow. 8 times trucks dispatched, one company 3 times and another twice! 23 calls handhold times of over 7 hours!! Unfortunately, they are the only service available.

We had the bearings freeze on the trailer tire. They towed us to a small shop in NV who could not fix the issue. We call Good Sam back. Asked to have our trailer put on a flatbed and delivered to our home.. We paid 7000.00 to Good Sam's roadside provider Agero... After waiting 24 hours the tow company called us and told us to head home. They would follow with our trailer. Instead of putting it on a flatbed trailer they hooked our trailer to a ball of a tow truck and dragged it 370 miles on three tires, granted this is a 7500 lb trailer. Then dumped it in the middle of a narrow dirt road without notifying us. Yes I did message the tow company and asked them to let us know when they were close so we could open the gate and have them put it on the parking pad.

We ended up calling Good Sam to explain the situation and they send out a third tow. Who moved it the 150 feet into the gated yard. The next day I went to empty the trailer and the doors were stuck... I had to get my husband to pull them open. We knew then there was an issue so we called out out RV mechanic. He told us we had issues to call Good Sam, we did. They had us file a claim with Agero. Who never answers or returns calls or emails. After almost 3 months they denied our claim saying I towed it before I reported the damage... We since have gone to our insurance company and they are working on the claim...

Not sure why Good Sam/Agero put the blame back on us.. But needles to say they did nothing to help us. I am still waiting for our insurance company to make their decision, and we did a dispute with our credit card company. We do have two witnesses that seen how our trailer was delivered... So I hope to get the money back for the tow as well as our trailer issues solved. Until then we are still not camping. This all started Aug 11, 2023.. It is now Jan 25th 2, 24.

That took another hour of waiting. Then the truck arrived and loaded my car. When he tried to drop the car off he couldn't get the car off the flat bed because he wedged his truck against a building and a six inch cement curb behind his truck. The driver asked me to sit in the car while he attempted to get the car off the flat bed. He asked me to hold on to the steering wheel and put my foot on the brake while he bounced my car up and down to get it off.

In the process he punched a hole in the under carriage skid plate. I filed a claim with Good Sam and they denied the claim citing the flat bed would have covered up the ball hitch which damaged my car. The driver could not lower the bed enough to cover the ball hitch because he was wedged up to the building. There was also an independent witness to the incident. I submitted photos and a written estimate for damages in the amount of $750 and Mr. Michael **, from the Good Sam damage team, denied the claim. Do not use this company. Shop elsewhere! After over FIFTEEN HOURS I was able to speak with the company they dispatched (as I was required to allow this company to charge my credit card $1 on two different occasions because they received the request from Good Sams on two different days as this went on past midnight). They said they would continue to "look for someone to send, but did not have anyone, probably wouldn't have anyone that day, and couldn't guarantee the next day."

I had to take the tire to a dealer to get it fixed and then call the same people that came out to put the tire back on, and I paid another $75 for that, along with paying to get the tire fixed and to get it balanced. All in all, it effectively took almost a week to change the tire, including me having to pay for almost all of it. After being disappointed twice, I called and canceled my policy. We were only a few days into the renewal and I was told that the policy was canceled and the money would be put back on my credit card. I immediately went to another service for my roadside assistance.

Then when I received my credit card bill I noticed that I was charged for the renewal. I called Good Sam customer support and I was told that since I used the service once that the entire year will remain in place. I asked to escalate the issue since I actually did NOT receive any service and that I had to pay to have the tire repaired and reinstalled. The manager said that he would, I have not heard anything since. Now 'Good'? Sam's won't cancel my policy that just started 9 days before the flat. I am very disappointed! I had to call Good Sam's two times in 10 years and both were abysmal failures.

I guess it's just not profitable enough although here I sit, it's 1:20 a.m. and I have been begging Good Sam since 4:30 p.m. for a tow. I have a 29 foot Dutchmen with a bird and 2 dogs and am sitting on the shoulder of a freeway in Seattle. I'm 65, traveling alone, and Good Sam's offshore dept. keeps telling me they "can relate" to my predicament but damned if they can find a tow company that can come out. I'm literally 4 miles from a major city but nope, they can't find anyone.

My issue is that the rig started sputtering and then died, when I had been parked for awhile I tried starting it again, it started and I drove all of a 1/2 mile when it died again and the "water in fuel line" light came on. I'm not mechanical genius, but I do believe that means there's water in the fuel line. I have a diesel rig, and only diesel has been used. A quick google search and I learn that this can be a common problem that requires draining the fuel to remove the water, which, I am assuming can't be done on the side of a major highway, SO TOW ME IN! I am so disgusted with their empty promises and texts saying "we are escalating this for you" because THEY ARE NOT. I imagine I'll have to call a towing company and pay premium $$, all because the insurance I pay for does not deliver what the promise.

I finally called a tire shop whom came and replaced the tire for me. This was after waiting from 10 pm and night until 12 pm the next day. I called again about needing help changing a tire. Same sad story. Just did not wait 15 hours this time to call someone myself. Below is the only response I could get from them. "We are sorry for the delay. During a recent trip, I developed a problem on my travel trailer tires. Excessive wear on 2 tires that needed to be replaced. I did not have Good Sam Tire Protection at that time and was quoted by Good Sam it would cost nearly $800 to replace the 2 tires. Now these are common tires SR75 15. The tire company was about 30 miles away and I was in a predicament so I okayed the purchase. Later, I joined the tire protection program for an additional $90. See where this is going?

I get the contract in the mail 2 weeks later and in reading it, it states that only the original tires to the unit are covered, not replacement tires. These tires were replacements for 11 year old tires so they wouldn't be covered. Besides, you have to mail the worn tires back to Good Sam for reimbursement. I am expected to hold on to 2 worn out tires then box them for shipment. Really. This is a money scam not listed on their introductory solicitation to join. By the way, I also had AAA and they were no help either even with RV coverage.

I called Good Sam Roadside Assistance on 10am on a Sunday morning with a flat tire on my Motorhome drivers side dual and requested a tire delivery and change for a 265/75/22.5 tire. GS called me back and billed me $983 for a new tire. About 2 hours later they called back and said the tire was not available, so they would tow me on a flatbed to a campground and refund the $983. Of course it took an additional phone call to get them to do the refund. We waited several more hours for the promised tow only to learn by calling the tow company 4 hours later that GS cancelled the tow without contacting us. When I called a supervisor for GS she told me the flatbed tow was too much money and they would try to find another. After sending me two more text messages about a new tow, they kept cancelling.

After sitting on the shoulder of I10 outside Tallahassee Fl for 12hrs they finally told me they could not find a tow company that could tow me. They gave me the name of a road service that would be at my location in the morning by 9am with a tire. When I contacted the road service in the morning they told me they did not have a tire in my size. I was forced to have all four dual tires removed and replace them with 275/70/22.5 tire at my expense including the $150 delivery fee that GS says they will reimburse me in 4-6 weeks. After 25 hours roadside I was finally on my way, with no help from Good Sam. What was most disturbing was that GS kept promising but knew they would not pay the fee for a flatbed tow, but kept telling me my case was being escalated.

Also tried to have a tire changed several years ago and they don't replace tires. On June 10,2023 - we had a breakdown 113 miles from home and called Good Sam's Roadside for a tow back home. Was told they would tow 1 mile free and the 112 miles would cost us $1153.00 more. So, of course, we canceled that tow and called today to cancel our Roadside Assistance. I did file a complaint with them and they transferred me to someone else to cancel. I was told they would refund us $48.50 for the remaining months of our policy and that would be returned on card we originally used.

I spoke to a supervisor "Emily", which I tried to get them to refund my year policy amount of $120.00 as that we had never been able to use them for anything. She would not do that, and then she told me my refund would be on a check and not go out for 3-4 days and then wouldn't receive for 6 weeks. How ridiculous as they get their money on the spot and we have to wait. Also, I was originally told that it would be charged back on card. Please do not use Good Sam and give away your money like I did. Never again.

Nine years ago, I had a flat tire on the motorhome. The service provider had to drive 11+ miles, replace the tire and did a great job. Service was completely free with my Roadside membership. Fast forward to 2023....I needed a tow for an auto only 6 miles to the dealership. I discovered that the Roadside Assistance has a TOW Distance limit of ONE mile!!! No kidding; I was shocked. I had NO idea that they had made such a drastic and ridiculous change in their policy! Even with full roadside assistance coverage, I still had to pay for the TOW!!!! Because the tow was 6 miles instead of one mile. This service is a complete rip-off.

BTW, all the years I kept renewing my GoodSam roadside assistance, I was NEVER informed of the change in the policy that strictly limited what they would do. Don't waste your money on GoodSam Roadside service; AAA now has an AAA Plus service that covers roadside assistance for RVs....and that's who we switched to.

Even though the Good Sam Extended Warranty says they cover Pistons and Rings they REFUSED to pay the $4000 for the issue because they had not heard of the problem before.

The Service Technicians at Honda said that all other extended warranties have covered this issue, but Good Sam refused, even after getting all of the documented information on the problem. Good Sam even sent out a 3rd party specialist to see what they thought and they said that Good Sam should cover this repair, but then Good Sam said they are going again what they said. On Saturday, September 24, 2022, I was driving through Kansas when the information panel of my diesel Ford F350 gave a message telling me to stop as soon as was safe to do so. A couple miles later I was able to pull over at an unattended gas station. As soon as I came to a stop, the engine died, and there was no response when I turned the key in the ignition. I was 40 miles from the nearest Ford dealer in McPherson, KS, and thanked my lucky stars that I had renewed my Good Sam Roadside Assistance membership only a few days earlier.

I called Good Sam Roadside Assistance, wading through their voicemail prompts (2 pm), and was on the phone with the same woman for the next two hours. Most of the time was spent with her telling me she was trying to reach a supervisor. Finally, at 4 pm she told me she had a arranged a tow to McPherson and that the tow truck would be there within 75 minutes; the tow truck operator would be texting me information. I asked the woman for a number to call her back if things did not work out; she refused to give a number and said not to worry, they would definitely be there.

One hour later (5 pm) I had not heard from the tow truck and thought to try to start the engine. The engine started, and I was left with the decision to try to limp to McPherson or to wait. I decided to go. 35 miles later (5 miles out of McPherson), I got the same message from the information panel and pulled over. I waited 30 minutes after which the engine started. I limped into McPherson and found a motel for a 2-night stay, waiting for the Ford service department to open Monday morning.

When I awoke the next morning I found a text message from 9:34 pm the previous evening - "We apologize for the delay. We are still working to secure service for your vehicle's needs. You should hear from us again shortly." They sent the same text message at 9:42 pm and 9:50 pm that same evening. That was the last communication from Good Sam Roadside Assistance. When I called Good Sam Roadside Assistance recently to complain and ask for cancellation of my membership as well as a refund, I told the story to 3 different people and was told they had to research it and was offered no apology.

I have subsequently received an e-mail from Brad **, Operations Coordinator, offering an apology and saying they would investigate. He did cancel my membership but no mention anywhere of a membership refund. Not sure if I will be hearing any more from them. This is unacceptable service. My theory is that they do not have an adequate network of providers due to the fact they are not willing to pay enough. Whatever the cause, I strongly encourage all to avoid this "service."

This company is a scam to take your money but not pay any legitimate claims. Adding to the pain, the roadside assistance brought out the wrong brand of tire (in the dark of night), claiming it was a first-tier tire (Michelin) and instead installed a second tier tire (Toyo)! Now we are out $1400 for a 2nd tier tire and the service fee of the blown tire.

In addition, we have to replace the 2nd tier tire now with a quality 1st tier tire which is safest for our rig and to match the other Michelin tire on the same axle, (not the substandard tire) which will be another $1000? The first call I made to Good Sam said that their mechanic would be out in 60-90 minutes. After an hour, I got a call from that mechanic asking if I had a spare and where it was located. I told him it was under the minivan, on the passenger side. He refused to come out, saying that he had a policy not to go under cars to retrieve a spare, especially in this kind of weather since the jack can crack, dropping the car on him. Since I had never used my spare, I didn't realize that you simply crank it down from inside of the car, no jack required for this part, and no need to get under the car. He should have known this!!! Good Sam scheduled another mechanic to come out. After waiting another 1.5 hours, that mechanic was a no-show.

A third mechanic was scheduled. He was supposed to be there at 6:15. He finally shows up at 8pm. He puts the spare on, to realize it's flat. He tells me that he doesn't have an air compressor with him and can't fix the spare...seriously??? I am in my car, trying to warm up. About 15 minutes later, he gets in his truck and takes off, not saying a word to me. It turns out that he was going to look for a gas station to fill the spare, but I thought I had just been abandoned, in a dark, empty parking lot. I called Good Sam (for the umpteenth time) and they tracked him down and assured me he would be back in 20 minutes. 45 minutes later, he came back and finally finished the job.

I told the "facilitator" that I wanted to be towed to a shop that can repair my van - either in Las Vegas or Reno. But, no they sent us to Ferrells in Hawthorne. It was after closing, so we dropped the keys in the box and found a motel. The next morning I called twice before a receptionist answered the phone. I explained what I thought was the problem and she said she'd get them right on it. I waited for someone to call with an estimate and what had to be done. I called and left several messages that went unanswered.

I had NO idea what they were going to do or how much they would charge. Without my permission, they torn the van apart, ordered a part and THEN called me to tell me that they ordered a NAPA starter and that it would be in tomorrow morning. The NAPA starters have a terrible reputation of their version of a VW starter. So, instead of calling me so I could tell them were to get the proper starter, they just went ahead and did the work. Needless to say, we had even more problems with the starter and a scary moment when we were in the middle of the Nevada desert when the starter failed again.

We cancelled the rest of our trip, went home and had the correct starter install. Again. It ended up costing us double for a new starter simply because Good Sam doesn't give a damn about its customers. "Unlimited mileage" is bull. They will only take you to the nearest garage that SAYS they can do the work whether or not they even can. We I picked up the garage, I asked the mechanic if he had any experience with my type of vehicle. I got the non-answer: "I've got 40 years experience!" Evidently, he didn't learn much in those 40 years. Stay away from Good Sam and Ferrells auto repair in Hawthorne, NV.

Once a qualified repair service found the problem, it was determined that the coach could have been repaired on-site at a cost of $350 to me. Ever since Sue Bray and crew exited the Good Sam program, the GoodSam brand has gone downhill substantially and many persons who are coach owners will identify with this opinion. I strongly advise any class A owner to seek a qualified road service and not Goodsam Roadside Service.

GoodSam abandoned me for several days under the guise that I was offered a tow even though it was not determined by a qualified service that a tow was necessary and in fact a tow was never required if a qualified service had been sent in the first place. Goodsam is not qualified to handled large class A coach breakdowns in my opinion.

I signed up for what I thought to be AAA the site said and was a discount of $54,95 I had AAA Road Assistance before and it was great. This was on July 26 2022. I went on with life and then thought 1 day in September where is my AAA card. I then e mailed what kept popping up on my e mail as Good Sam's RV service. They sent a # and no card. Then in October of 2022 I decided to take the time and find out what was going on. Long story short I did not sign up for AAA. I signed up for Good Sam hence all the emails I was getting out of the blue. I think it was a switch and bait and I would of never signed up and gave my Debit for THIS company. I called again and told them, "I did not want you. I wanted AAA. I want a refund."

They then told me I would not be getting the $54.95 back but $45.89. WHY? Well they said, "You had it since July." "Yes but I never got a card. I did not even know you existed." They said, "Oh well that is what you get back." I said, "Well I am glad I am getting this back. I think you falsely enrolled me and I did not want to be a member with you." I would not go with this company. There are many reviews that give this company 1 star. I would of gave it 0 stars if I could of. Total confusion, terrible service. Would never want their service or lack of.

I have read some of the reviews and find that I am not in the minority about Good Sam Roadside Assistance. Better run fast and far away. Misery will be the least of your worries. To highlight a few relevant points based on my experience: (1) Be prepared for a long long wait for any help to come. (2) Help may NEVER come. (3) It is unlikely your tow truck driver will return your call for help. He probably won't answer at all (and this is 24 hour roadside assistance you paid for). (4) Good Sam will hang up on you when you ask 4 hours later if anyone is coming. (5) Sit back and relax. You're not going anywhere. My wife would still be along the freeway had we not arranged with a different company, (AAA). (6) Forget about a refund: I asked for my money back. Excuses why they couldn't or wouldn't refund our membership fee. Just don't you be the next victim. Good Sam could care less. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SCAM.

Then they were supposed to call us back and never did so we called them every 45 minutes for the next 5 hours!! Finally, a Highway Patrol officer got him help at the end of 8 hours. Good Sam finally called back after that 8 hours only to say it would be another 45 minutes!! 9 total hours!! So I emailed the CEO and then they started to call us the next day. Now they want to give us a $75 check (only good at Camping World). And they GUARANTEED me this “was an isolated incident”. To which I advised her the Hwy Patrol said this was “typical of Good Sam”. I just want my premiums back!! Don’t buy Good Sam, they’ll leave you stranded.

On 10-7-22, several check engine lights came on in my diesel pusher on the way to my RV site. After arriving I called Good Sam and requested a mobile mechanic. He arrived in about an hour in broken down old police car with a missing bumper and cracked windshield. The mechanic wore ratty jeans and a white tank top and did not have any diesel tools to diagnose my issue so he left. But the worst is yet to come! Ya see, I was at Prado Regional Park in Chino (CA). About 20 miles from Disneyland, 20 miles from Ontario Airport or 30 miles from John Wayne airport.

When I called Good Sam Roadside Assistance and spoke to a supervisor named Antionette, she said Good Sam does not have any other mobile mechanics in their network and I would have to find one myself and pay out-of-pocket and request a reimbursement later. So, I clarified with Antionette, "You're telling me that I purchased Good Sam Roadside and you do not have any other mobile mechanic to send to me?" She said, "We only have one in our network and we don't have any other mobile mechanics in our network in all of Southern California so you'll have to find one and pay him and then get reimbursed." Well, after I blew my top I hung up. GOOD SAM ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE IS A JOKE!!!! ONE MECHANIC WHO WAS A SLOB! No Way....

Even after reading all the small fine print details, they will even come up with some off the wall reason to avoid towing your RV.

It's honestly embarrassing to see them scramble and challenge you at all costs and at every angle possible that they can come up with AFTER stringing you along all dayyy by saying they're dispatching a towing company out to you only to find out from the DRIVER of the tow company to inform you that Good Sam is saying they're not going to cover it so you call to find out what is going on and get pushed off to a superior they must train to get on the phone at the end of it all only to tell you that you're not eligible for whatever reason they pull out of their ** after studying some kind of handbook and train by role playing every situation possible that they can come up with to tell a customer that they're not eligible for a tow and basically tell you, "Tough luck and leave. Even after challenging them back and outsmarting them on whatever first reason they gave you and outsmarting them on the second reason why, they will come up with a third, fourth and so on.. I thought I did my homework on researching for a good quality Roadside Assistance plan for my 5th wheel RV by reading all the small fine print from each top brand Roadside Assistance companies and in they're brochures and by reading reviews but after experiencing what I've experienced, is when I finally found the REAL reviews about Good Sam Roadside Assistance. The only roadside coverage they provide is towing the RV to the closest 'Camping World' and guess what...they are closed on Sundays and holidays with limited daytime hours. My RV Trailer broke down in NW Georgia. Bad wheel Bearings on the left side. I thought I was lucky to be off the road and very near a Trailer repair shop. Unfortunately they could not do the work so I called Good Sam. I was connected to a mobil Mechanic service and told I needed a credit card and would be charged for a minimum of two hours of service at a rate of $132.50 per hour. Thankfully we were allowed to park in the shop’s lot. All Pro Diesel in Franklin GA. We waited about five hours or more all the time being told someone would be there soon. Good Sam had hired someone from MO. A very long way away.

Long story shortened, Good Sam washed their hands off the deal, they were finished and could do no more for me. Eventually by late in the afternoon of the next day we were fixed, sort of! We headed home the next morning cutting our trip short by one week. Today I called Good Sam to explain how bad their service was. The first person I got on the phone was only interested in telling me he could do nothing for me. Good Sam only contacted a repair service and from there on it was my responsibility. I explained to him that Good Sam should want to know that the people they had contacted were crooks. That is just my opinion.

I was overcharge for parts and labor but he could care less. Finally, he agreed to put me through to someone to take my complaint, probably to just get rid of me. At least that is how I felt! I did speak with another lady and she did take my complaint, but nothing will come of it. I still have to fight it out with the Interstate Truck Center. I am going back to AAA.

Good Sam: Our F250 broke down in Bennett Colorado along the highway. My wife/I researched and found the best rated Ford Service Dealership (39 miles away). I called Good Sam at 10:44 am. They said, the closest service station was 20 miles away, therefore, I had to pay $160 for our truck and trailer to be towed the additional 19 miles. About 2 hours later, the tow company called and said they needed $320 to tow the truck and trailer.

I called Good Sam again. The second Good Sam person said, the first GS person set up the order incorrectly. It should have been $320. The second GS person cancelled the first order and created a new order. Then, she said, she needed to speak to her supervisor. After an extended period of time, she returned saying the second order was completed and the additional costs would be $160. I asked, it is not $320, why? She did not have an answer, other than it is just $160. She said, everything was completed and a tow service would contact me soon.

2 more hours later, 4 hours since my first call, still no tow service. I called Good Sam again. The 3rd GS person reviewed the 2 orders and apologized for the 4 hour inconvenience. The GS person assured me she was on top of the situation and would get it resolved immediately. She said, 2 different tow services would contact me. One service for the truck and another service for the trailer. They would be towed at different times. I begrudgingly said ok.

2.5 hours later, 6.5 hours since my first call, still neither tow service had showed up. I called Good Sam and told them to cancel the tow services. I also asked them to cancel the remaining 18 months of our 5 year Good Sam Roadside Assistance. The 4th GS person said, she would have to transfer me to a different department to cancel my membership. I said, "You have to be kidding..."

Good Sam provided the worst service I have received from any company in my life. I am a seasoned 61 year old RV person. I called a highly rated local tow service without using my paid GS membership. In less than 30 minutes, our truck was on a flat bed and the trailer being pulled behind. Giner's Towing from Aurora Colorado was top notch. 5 stars.

The biggest issue arose, though, when I used the service I paid for. I paid for 3 years in advance, but Good Sam cancelled my membership after the first year because I used the service for 3 flat tires within that year. I received another message about 9:30 p.m. that a tow service was on the way and would arrive in about 90 to 120 minutes. The tow truck driver did arrive about 11:30 p.m. after coming from 2 hrs. away.

I was very clear that it absolutely had to be towed on a little boy flatbed and did not on a wrecker tow truck because of the weight in the back from the remodel. I'm not sure who they outsourced the transport to but they completely and recklessly annihilated every inch of my RV! I had just, weeks before hit the 15,000 mark on the restoration and remodeling of the RV which included reinforcing the entire interior to house a rooftop garden/bar. The first thing the tow truck drivers did was rip off the entire roof including plastic lawn furniture that was bolted to the roof along with AstroTurf I pick it fence Pink flamingos etc, and threw them off to the side of the road where they picked up my 18,000 lb RV on a wrecker and dragged it 35 miles before getting it stuck in the road and ripping off the drive line then just abandoning it there.

There were actual chunks of the road/asphalt wedged up in the rear bumper, and the entire hitch receiver on the back of my RV is sheared off along with the all of the plumbing and septic lines underneath. The front end is severely damaged from the tow truck jackknifing and ripping the grill off and puncturing the radiator. As awful as this sounds, it gets worse because when I found my RV to be a heap of trash, I filed a claim with Good Sam who referred me to Agero, their insurance company..who is giving me the runaround now for over 6 months while my RV sits without a roof in the rainy season which is now completely destroyed all of the hardwood flooring and interior of the RV because the tow truck drivers ripped off the roof.

Bought into the program mainly for my motor home but figured I cover my wife and kid's cars as well. Over 700.00 invested for 5 years, paid in full. Used the service twice in about 6 months for my son's jeep and they cancelled me and said I used it too much. Even better they said I only paid to have it towed to the nearest garage and charged me 300.00 more to bring it to my house 50 miles away. Really a great service as long as you don't use it.

A Good Sam Roadside Technician improperly re-attached my wheel cover after changing a flat tire & it was lost as I drove the RV. I made a damage claim with Good Sam in September & it has not been resolved. They never return calls or emails. Their Customer Service Philosophy is to delay the customer as long as possible until the customer eventually gets frustrated enough to drop the claim.

I purchased a new/used 2021 Forest River stealth toy hauler. After finding out not being the original owner that all other warranties are void I decided it may be a good idea to get an extended warranty. Little did I know immediately after I got the warranty I would have issues and went to file a claim and was denied. No point in getting this useless service if they’re just gonna deny your claim, very unhappy.

This is a tale of a simple car tow as opposed to an RV tow. My car was damaged during IDA and our insurance carrier, Allstate, requested we use their collision center which is 6 miles from our house. I called the day before our cars scheduled appointment at the body shop.

    _________________________

Yesterday, 11/1, I called to schedule a tow for 7:30 am on 11/2. Because this tow was to my Allstate collision center for an insurance claim (6 miles from my house), I had to pay an additional $28.75 for this tow. (Which I paid on 11/1.) At that time, I was told that around 6:30 am the tow company would call me and the tow driver would call when they are approximately 20 minutes away - by 7:30 am.

Fast forward to this morning, 11/2. I called Good Sam Roadside Assistance at 7:30 as I never received a call from a tow truck company. I was told my call had been escalated to a supervisor and that a supervisor would call me back. I did not receive a call, so I called back at 8:04 am and spoke to another representative who told me the EXACT same thing and that a supervisor would call me back.

Again, I did not receive a call so I called into Roadside Assistance again at 9:00 (my third call). Again, I was told the EXACT same thing and that a supervisor would call me back. Then I called Roadside Assistance customer service (not dispatch) in Denver (now my fourth call) and spoke with Kim who got Mike from dispatch on the line. He again said the same thing, that the call has been escalated to a supervisor and that they would call me. I need to get my car, a 2007 BMW 335i to a collision repair shop. My college age son is the primary driver of this car and I need to take him to work. I also need to go to work, as well as go to a doctor appointment. Sitting at home with my hands tied waiting for a "supervisor" to call me is unacceptable.

I have been a good sam member and a good sam roadside assistance member for a few years now and my account is up for renewal. This experience has me reconsidering my options for roadside help. Coming from a customer service background myself, I fail to understand why a "supervisor" cannot make a quick call to me to let me know what's going on so I can plan my day and plan on how to get my car to the auto body shop. ESPECIALLY since I did my due diligence in calling YESTERDAY to schedule this!

UPDATE: At 10 am, I received a text from a towing company notifying me that we are in queue and that a truck will arrive in 120-180 minutes. (Between noon and 1 pm.) I will NOT be renewing my $225 Platinum Complete Roadside Assistance.

Needed a tow from home to a garage that takes care of my cars. Not the first time I've had this EXACT tow done before. This time Good sam decided to charge additional $93 for that same tow that in the past was covered by my membership. The customer service people did not seem to know how to handle my situation and after 45 minutes on the phone I spoke with Rudy a customer service "Supervisor" who does not understand how to talk with customers. He decided that overtalking the customer was a good idea. Bottom line after 16 years of good service and no complaints Good Sam has apparently decided that customer service is not a priority. Highly recommend picking a company that values its customers.

I joined Good Sam's roadside Travel club 5 months ago after 30 years with AAA. Yesterday, Friday 10/22/21, I used my new Good Sam's travel service for the first time. I cannot begin to express how upset and frustrated I am with the EXCEPTIONALLY POOR EXPERIENCE I endured. I am now regretting my decision to join Good Sam's travel assistance entirely!!

I made my call at 1:15 p.m. to report a flat left front tire. I told the dispatcher TWICE that I had a spare but wasn't sure if it had any air in it. She assured me that whoever came to change out the tires could also air it up if needed. It then took Gwendolyn over 15 min.s to "find my location" and input it into your system correctly, even though I was giving it to her directly from Google maps. Finally, she said she had it and was turning it over to some repair shop near my location.

My location was in a shopping mall in the heart of Moore, Oklahoma. It was not on a rural road, or out in the boondocks somewhere. I was smack dab in town, easy to find. I say all this because at 1:25 she told me that someone would be there to rescue me anywhere from 1-2 hrs at the latest. I felt like 2 hrs was a huge window to begin with because you folks must have tons of contractors close by to assist me, but took it in stride.

So my "rescuer" arrives some 3 hrs and 15 minutes later. Not in a company vehicle, but in his personal old dirty and beat-up truck. He has no identification on him, no badge, and guess what, NO AIR COMPRESSOR! He got the spare down and realized it was half flat. Of course it was, I had warned the dispatcher of that possibility. So there I am with some kid who can, at best, only do a half-** job since he doesn't even have all the equipment needed for the call.

I was mortified. In over 38 yrs of driving, I have had multiple situations where I needed a flat changed or towed into a service center but never have I ever waited over 3 hrs just to have someone show up who couldn't even properly change a tire and put air into a spare...especially when I told the Good Sam's dispatcher that very vital piece of information twice!!

So now it was 4:45 p.m. and I have a semi-flat spare on my truck and have to find a service department or gas station with an air pump. I don't live in that town, I live 30 minutes away from there, so I had no idea where to even go. I had to drive my truck around basically on the rim to find air. Needless to say, I had to do half the job myself and get my own air in the tire. AAA never in 30+years put me in this kind of screwed-up situation.

I am very unhappy with Good Sam's because THEY CHOSE this team or service corporation to help me. I don't even know the name of this contractor, as I got no receipt, and there was nothing on the guy's truck, no badge, nothing... Believe me, if I knew who they were I would be reporting them as well. Honestly, this was a legendary pooch screw. And I was put in danger by being forced to drive in a heavily trafficked area on a semi-flat tire searching for an air source.

These people are just above and beyond. My husband and I are full time RV'rs and we're traveling to our next destination. We decided to stop at a reservoir IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE IDAHO to boondock for a bit. We got slightly off the makeshift road trying to get as far away from everyone as possible and ended up stuck in the lake bed with our 1 ton dually and 35' camper. Everything from the beginning of the first phone call was just very impressive. They made it SSSOOO much easier to call in and be located and collect all the necessary info than AAA. Long story short it took 5 hours to get the tow driver out and when he did show up he had tripled his price and seemed like he was about to tear our frame right off the camper!

When I called to express my concern for the situation The representatives called the tow company and settled the situation and COVERED THE ENTIRE $2800!!! 2 days later we are then in Oregon and get a flat tire... Bad spare.... They covered the tow for us on that as well... No questions asked... If you don't have Good Sam Roadside you are just cheating yourself out of something amazing... and wasting money as well!!! We will ALWAYS have these people on our side... Thank you all for everything you do!!

Good Sam Companies,, stay away. RUN. Good Sam, the nation's largest RV motor club also owns National General insurance, Campers World, Central coast resorts and more. DO NOT join their club or buy any of their insurance. They are liars and cheats just like all American insurance companies. I was just woken to high wind gusts and rain and had to climb onto the roof of my motorhome to re-secure my already damaged roof. My roof was badly damaged late August from a really bad monsoon storm that torn up the back end of my motorhome's roof, I was waiting for the insurance company to get the roof fixed only to find out the Good Sam insurance company is doing everything to avoid paying the claim, and I can't afford to fight them nor the money to replace the one piece fiberglass roof. The motorhome is my home, I live in it.

I'm a volunteer at Tonto National Forest, I bought more than enough insurance to cover anything and everything. Mariann ** the damage claims representative for the Good Sam insurance company National General insurance says the roof was not maintained,, WTF. She ignored her own document adjuster that came out for 2 hours and documented all the damage and the dealer that sent an email stating that the motorhome including the roof were in excellent condition, Good Sam is a bean counter company that gambles on the little guy losing.

They do not want to pay $7-8,000.00 to replace the roof or any of the other damage from wind or water getting in like carpet floor, cracked shower ceiling, slide-out awnings which is all about another $3,000.00. I would take a check for the roof and walk away and do the other repairs myself, but they won't budge. Asking me for more proof it was maintained. It's a fiberglass roof that gets washed with soap and water and waxed like a normal car per Winnebago Motorhome maintenance recommendations. I'm hoping social media might help my situation if everyone reposted and I can get the Good Sam companies on the all crap list, who knows. Any attorneys pissed off with Good Sam are welcome, I'm here. Thank you, David **

We were thrilled to find this company and used them several times. However, we did not know that when we followed their phone assistant's directions... When they said to get the battery charged and wait till tomorrow to see if the works and if not call them and they will arrange for towing. This happened several times because we were unlucky enough to have batteries DIE on 3 cars.

It seems that each time we called and called back it was a hit on the total number of incidents we were allowed. On June 26, 2021 they dropped us for "your utilization falls outside our normal guidelines". Surprised!!!! Admittedly we did call more than expected but it was at their instruction. No matter though we now have a company that even though they also have limits they never drop you or let you hanging. This new company finds service for you. You may have to pay for it but you are not left sitting on the road wondering who to call on what to do next. I would not recommend Good Sam to anyone.

Up until July of this year I would have said if you’re looking for roadside look no further. I used them about 3 years ago and it was great, but then in July of 21 they changed my tune. My HONDA Pilot 2016 engine blew 75 miles east of Boise, ID. Called Good SAM and spent almost 4 hours of them trying to locate me. As you can see that was difficult as I gave them a mile marker on US 20 and a cross street. Then when they finally located me, they told me as a Platinum + member I could only get towed 4 miles. I stated that the paperwork said nearest authorized repairer for the car was how far they would tow it. (And there was nothing closer than about 25 miles) customer service had a very nice lady (nicest in this entire experience). Call me back but by then my buddy had left work and gotten a U-Haul car trailer and was about 15 min out.

Day after incident I submitted my claim reimbursement, with everything attached. Got acceptance of claim submission with receipts attached. It was denied for no receipts, after they did not even reach out to me. Called 2 days later. They said resubmit... Resubmitted that day... Got acceptance of claim submission. Called 2 days later... Nothing on record... Submitted next day... Got acceptance of claim submission. Called 2 days later... "We have your claim, and someone will be reaching out to you." 31 days later crickets. Called, and "We have your claim. Someone will be reaching out to you."

Not a good place to do business with. Been a member since 2011 and use them 1 other time in 11 years at 125.00 per year. On Sept 7th our first day on a 11 day trip our front brake on a 2 axel trailer caught fire at about 3pm. We managed to pull off the road and phoned them. Our nightmare began. After sitting on the side of the road for 2 days in an 18 ft trailer and 2 dogs (over 30 hours) I ended up looking after this problem without their help. Was a total joke and answering their questions multiple times after about 20 phone calls and having to load up my cell phone so we can talk was a huge problem. After 30 hours a tow truck driver said he was on his way and was dispatched to the wrong location. He never showed up and no call back from this ** company.

When I got home I sent off a complaint saying I want an explanation on why I was so let down and I want my money back. I got a call back from someone who wanted to verify my address and said they would send me a check. (It's like it was worth it to get rid of me and lose me as a customer than having to tow a 18 ft trailer to where I can get a broken axel fixed).
