On 10-7-22, several check engine lights came on in my diesel pusher on the way to my RV site. After arriving I called Good Sam and requested a mobile mechanic. He arrived in about an hour in broken down old police car with a missing bumper and cracked windshield. The mechanic wore ratty jeans and a white tank top and did not have any diesel tools to diagnose my issue so he left. But the worst is yet to come! Ya see, I was at Prado Regional Park in Chino (CA). About 20 miles from Disneyland, 20 miles from Ontario Airport or 30 miles from John Wayne airport.

When I called Good Sam Roadside Assistance and spoke to a supervisor named Antionette, she said Good Sam does not have any other mobile mechanics in their network and I would have to find one myself and pay out-of-pocket and request a reimbursement later. So, I clarified with Antionette, "You're telling me that I purchased Good Sam Roadside and you do not have any other mobile mechanic to send to me?" She said, "We only have one in our network and we don't have any other mobile mechanics in our network in all of Southern California so you'll have to find one and pay him and then get reimbursed." Well, after I blew my top I hung up. GOOD SAM ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE IS A JOKE!!!! ONE MECHANIC WHO WAS A SLOB! No Way....

This joke of a company will come up with whatever reason on a whim to catch you with your pants down and side blind you with any excuse NOT to tow your RV after paying for the most expensive and elite 5th wheel RV roadside assistance and TOWING plan possible. Even after reading all the small fine print details, they will even come up with some off the wall reason to avoid towing your RV.

It's honestly embarrassing to see them scramble and challenge you at all costs and at every angle possible that they can come up with AFTER stringing you along all dayyy by saying they're dispatching a towing company out to you only to find out from the DRIVER of the tow company to inform you that Good Sam is saying they're not going to cover it so you call to find out what is going on and get pushed off to a superior they must train to get on the phone at the end of it all only to tell you that you're not eligible for whatever reason they pull out of their ** after studying some kind of handbook and train by role playing every situation possible that they can come up with to tell a customer that they're not eligible for a tow and basically tell you, "Tough luck and leave. You **."

Even after challenging them back and outsmarting them on whatever first reason they gave you and outsmarting them on the second reason why, they will come up with a third, fourth and so on.. They're a SCAM and it's a shame and quite disappointing that Good Sam Roadside assistance is even acknowledged and known as a top brand named company when it comes to Roadside Assistance! I thought I did my homework on researching for a good quality Roadside Assistance plan for my 5th wheel RV by reading all the small fine print from each top brand Roadside Assistance companies and in they're brochures and by reading reviews but after experiencing what I've experienced, is when I finally found the REAL reviews about Good Sam Roadside Assistance. That is why I am writing this review in hopes to help any fellow RV'r NOT to purchase a plan from this dud of a company! Seriously, take my word!

You will be completely let down time and time and time again and will regret it! Good Sam SUCKS. If I could be more vulgar I would be but I'm sure my review wouldn't make the cut but that is what they truly deserve and the truth needs to be spoken and learned about this sham they're pulling! I don't even care to get some generic apology response from them so please save it because I have heard enough of your rehearsed **! It makes me sick. They know exactly what they're all about. And believe it or not, this is probably the first review I've ever written about anything ever because I am not the type to even send food back when it's not right or whatever so take this as a notion how dead serious I am about every word and feeling towards Good Sam Roadside Assistance! THEY. SUCK.

Yesterday, I called Good Sam for roadside assistance. I waited for 3 hours and I never got any texts for when anyone was on the way. I called back during that time and their agents did not understand basics like the term southbound and that my GPS was picking up a residential neighborhood next to the very very very busy interstate I was stuck next to (southbound Interstate 77) in North Carolina. I ended up paying $110 for a tow truck I found on my own. This was a terrifying and terrible experience and I will be cancelling.

I have used them 2 times over the last 4 years once for car lockout and once for a very large class A RV lowboy tow. Both times they came through just fine. The RV tow would have cost me a ton 3-4k. Yes I'm happy and I would recommend them. The RV tow was very difficult to find someone to do the job, but took a while. Good Sam came through for us. Also fast good service on the lockout.

When I got Good Sam Roadside Assistance, I was happy that they covered RVs and tow trailers. But the first time I needed them was for a bad transmission on our truck. It took them so long to respond that we took an Uber home, and we were home for hours before they picked up the truck and towed it home. Then the next day we had it towed to a transmission shop only 5 miles away, but their mapping program said it was farther, and they charged us extra mileage fees.

Then today I had a blowout on a brand-new trailer tire, and I have been waiting for 4 hours now and the text messages keep saying "We apologize for the delay. We are still working to secure service for your vehicle's needs, you should hear from us again shortly." Now mind you, I am broken down on a major highway in metropolitan Portland, OR. So, there should not be a delay. I am really frustrated, and tomorrow I am going to go back to AAA. Good Sam Roadside Assistance is a waste of money.

Warning...stay away from this company! In addition to RV coverage, we paid extra for pickup truck coverage and RV/truck tire coverage with roadside assist. Air in our truck tire was low and needed more air to prevent tire failure. The only roadside coverage they provide is towing the RV to the closest 'Camping World' and guess what...they are closed on Sundays and holidays with limited daytime hours. We were on our own on fixing the truck tire, so we ended up calling AAA which we also maintained coverage with and at least they showed up with an air pump to pump in enough air to get us home (2 hours away). They also notified Florida Road Rangers if we needed more help. Must check if I can cancel and get a refund on remaining contract. Either way... we will be looking for better company!!! We will definitely keep AAA!

My RV Trailer broke down in NW Georgia. Bad wheel Bearings on the left side. I thought I was lucky to be off the road and very near a Trailer repair shop. Unfortunately they could not do the work so I called Good Sam. I was connected to a mobil Mechanic service and told I needed a credit card and would be charged for a minimum of two hours of service at a rate of $132.50 per hour. Thankfully we were allowed to park in the shop’s lot. All Pro Diesel in Franklin GA. We waited about five hours or more all the time being told someone would be there soon. Good Sam had hired someone from MO. A very long way away.

Long story shortened, Good Sam washed their hands off the deal, they were finished and could do no more for me. Eventually by late in the afternoon of the next day we were fixed, sort of! We headed home the next morning cutting our trip short by one week. Today I called Good Sam to explain how bad their service was. The first person I got on the phone was only interested in telling me he could do nothing for me. Good Sam only contacted a repair service and from there on it was my responsibility. I explained to him that Good Sam should want to know that the people they had contacted were crooks. That is just my opinion.

I was overcharge for parts and labor but he could care less. Finally, he agreed to put me through to someone to take my complaint, probably to just get rid of me. At least that is how I felt! I did speak with another lady and she did take my complaint, but nothing will come of it. I still have to fight it out with the Interstate Truck Center. I am going back to AAA.

Good Sam: Our F250 broke down in Bennett Colorado along the highway. My wife/I researched and found the best rated Ford Service Dealership (39 miles away). I called Good Sam at 10:44 am. They said, the closest service station was 20 miles away, therefore, I had to pay $160 for our truck and trailer to be towed the additional 19 miles. About 2 hours later, the tow company called and said they needed $320 to tow the truck and trailer.

I called Good Sam again. The second Good Sam person said, the first GS person set up the order incorrectly. It should have been $320. The second GS person cancelled the first order and created a new order. Then, she said, she needed to speak to her supervisor. After an extended period of time, she returned saying the second order was completed and the additional costs would be $160. I asked, it is not $320, why? She did not have an answer, other than it is just $160. She said, everything was completed and a tow service would contact me soon.

2 more hours later, 4 hours since my first call, still no tow service. I called Good Sam again. The 3rd GS person reviewed the 2 orders and apologized for the 4 hour inconvenience. The GS person assured me she was on top of the situation and would get it resolved immediately. She said, 2 different tow services would contact me. One service for the truck and another service for the trailer. They would be towed at different times. I begrudgingly said ok.

2.5 hours later, 6.5 hours since my first call, still neither tow service had showed up. I called Good Sam and told them to cancel the tow services. I also asked them to cancel the remaining 18 months of our 5 year Good Sam Roadside Assistance. The 4th GS person said, she would have to transfer me to a different department to cancel my membership. I said, "You have to be kidding..."

Good Sam provided the worst service I have received from any company in my life. I am a seasoned 61 year old RV person. I called a highly rated local tow service without using my paid GS membership. In less than 30 minutes, our truck was on a flat bed and the trailer being pulled behind. Giner's Towing from Aurora Colorado was top notch. 5 stars.

We called roadside assistance and they told us they will find someone to help us out and would call us back. When they called us back 4 hours later, they said we should be getting a call when the service provider is on the way. After an hour, we called the service provider and they told us they were coming out on Monday and not today (Saturday). We were not able to get any service on the same day and had to stay for an additional 2 days. Which I had to fix the issue myself.

The 2nd time we got stranded in Louisiana with a fuel leak, again we called roadside service and they were not able to locate a service to come out and assist us, we had to drop our jeep off the RV and drive 2 hours one-way to find the part to fix my RV. The 3rd time we had a tire blow out which damaged a second tire (dually), called for service took them 3 hours to get service and back on the road. After I filed a claim for 2 tires that I paid for as per my service agreement and was denied after providing all required documents. This has been 1 nightmare after another. My initial experience wasn't terrible. Requesting assistance for a flat tire was a little strange - you call them, then they text you a link to complete it online. Okay, did that. And people did show up to fix my flat tires - but it felt a little sketchy. The service providers arrived in unmarked sedans, no uniforms or anything indicating they were in business. The biggest issue arose, though, when I used the service I paid for. I paid for 3 years in advance, but Good Sam cancelled my membership after the first year because I used the service for 3 flat tires within that year. Apparently you can buy the membership & stay a member as long as you don't use the service you paid for. I'm not sure how that makes sense, but I couldn't get back to AAA fast enough. Never again!

To start, initial call prompts are misleading. I called 3 times before I just picked wrong answer for me, so I could get a live person. This person led me to an automated prompt. I filled in the blanks and received a message that my request had been submitted and I would be contacted shortly. Shortly turned into 2 1/2 hours (6:18 p.m. - 8:55 p.m.) I called back and the person I talked to stated that she had no record of my request being submitted. She initiated a new request. I had to pay $40.00 for a towing fee for a distance of 5.8 miles (4.8 miles over the limit of 1 mile), but membership states unlimited distance towing and said nothing about to the closest shop. I received another message about 9:30 p.m. that a tow service was on the way and would arrive in about 90 to 120 minutes. The tow truck driver did arrive about 11:30 p.m. after coming from 2 hrs. away.

He was very pleasant and apologized stating he had just received the call. I called Good Sam service on Monday after the incident. That's when I was told about the unlimited distance applies to the closest shop. I wanted to cancel the service, first I was told the coverage would be pro-rated, then I was told I would not receive any refund because I used the service, not taking into consideration that I also paid $40 for the towing fee. I feel that Good Sam service is dishonest all the way around. I went on another roadside service club website and thought I was getting that one and it turn out to be Good Sam. When I called to verify what I had signed up for Good Sam's rep stated that they pay for that site. Go figure. I hired Good Sam to tow my newly remodeled, 36 ft RV. I was very clear that it absolutely had to be towed on a little boy flatbed and did not on a wrecker tow truck because of the weight in the back from the remodel. I'm not sure who they outsourced the transport to but they completely and recklessly annihilated every inch of my RV! I had just, weeks before hit the 15,000 mark on the restoration and remodeling of the RV which included reinforcing the entire interior to house a rooftop garden/bar. The first thing the tow truck drivers did was rip off the entire roof including plastic lawn furniture that was bolted to the roof along with AstroTurf I pick it fence Pink flamingos etc, and threw them off to the side of the road where they picked up my 18,000 lb RV on a wrecker and dragged it 35 miles before getting it stuck in the road and ripping off the drive line then just abandoning it there.

There were actual chunks of the road/asphalt wedged up in the rear bumper, and the entire hitch receiver on the back of my RV is sheared off along with the all of the plumbing and septic lines underneath. The front end is severely damaged from the tow truck jackknifing and ripping the grill off and puncturing the radiator. As awful as this sounds, it gets worse because when I found my RV to be a heap of trash, I filed a claim with Good Sam who referred me to Agero, their insurance company..who is giving me the runaround now for over 6 months while my RV sits without a roof in the rainy season which is now completely destroyed all of the hardwood flooring and interior of the RV because the tow truck drivers ripped off the roof.

At that time, I was told that around 6:30 am the tow company would call me and the tow driver would call when they are approximately 20 minutes away - by 7:30 am.

Fast forward to this morning, 11/2. I called Good Sam Roadside Assistance at 7:30 as I never received a call from a tow truck company. I was told my call had been escalated to a supervisor and that a supervisor would call me back. I did not receive a call, so I called back at 8:04 am and spoke to another representative who told me the EXACT same thing and that a supervisor would call me back.

Again, I did not receive a call so I called into Roadside Assistance again at 9:00 (my third call). Again, I was told the EXACT same thing and that a supervisor would call me back. Then I called Roadside Assistance customer service (not dispatch) in Denver (now my fourth call) and spoke with Kim who got Mike from dispatch on the line. He again said the same thing, that the call has been escalated to a supervisor and that they would call me. I need to get my car, a 2007 BMW 335i to a collision repair shop. My college age son is the primary driver of this car and I need to take him to work. I also need to go to work, as well as go to a doctor appointment. Sitting at home with my hands tied waiting for a "supervisor" to call me is unacceptable.

I have been a good sam member and a good sam roadside assistance member for a few years now and my account is up for renewal. This experience has me reconsidering my options for roadside help. Coming from a customer service background myself, I fail to understand why a "supervisor" cannot make a quick call to me to let me know what's going on so I can plan my day and plan on how to get my car to the auto body shop. ESPECIALLY since I did my due diligence in calling YESTERDAY to schedule this!

UPDATE: At 10 am, I received a text from a towing company notifying me that we are in queue and that a truck will arrive in 120-180 minutes. (Between noon and 1 pm.) I will NOT be renewing my $225 Platinum Complete Roadside Assistance.

Needed a tow from home to a garage that takes care of my cars. Not the first time I've had this EXACT tow done before. This time Good sam decided to charge additional $93 for that same tow that in the past was covered by my membership. The customer service people did not seem to know how to handle my situation and after 45 minutes on the phone I spoke with Rudy a customer service "Supervisor" who does not understand how to talk with customers. He decided that overtalking the customer was a good idea. Bottom line after 16 years of good service and no complaints Good Sam has apparently decided that customer service is not a priority. Highly recommend picking a company that values its customers.

I joined Good Sam's roadside Travel club 5 months ago after 30 years with AAA. Yesterday, Friday 10/22/21, I used my new Good Sam's travel service for the first time. I cannot begin to express how upset and frustrated I am with the EXCEPTIONALLY POOR EXPERIENCE I endured. I am now regretting my decision to join Good Sam's travel assistance entirely!!

I made my call at 1:15 p.m. to report a flat left front tire. I told the dispatcher TWICE that I had a spare but wasn't sure if it had any air in it. She assured me that whoever came to change out the tires could also air it up if needed. It then took Gwendolyn over 15 min.s to "find my location" and input it into your system correctly, even though I was giving it to her directly from Google maps. Finally, she said she had it and was turning it over to some repair shop near my location.

My location was in a shopping mall in the heart of Moore, Oklahoma. It was not on a rural road, or out in the boondocks somewhere. I was smack dab in town, easy to find. I say all this because at 1:25 she told me that someone would be there to rescue me anywhere from 1-2 hrs at the latest. I felt like 2 hrs was a huge window to begin with because you folks must have tons of contractors close by to assist me, but took it in stride.

So my "rescuer" arrives some 3 hrs and 15 minutes later. Not in a company vehicle, but in his personal old dirty and beat-up truck. He has no identification on him, no badge, and guess what, NO AIR COMPRESSOR! He got the spare down and realized it was half flat. Of course it was, I had warned the dispatcher of that possibility. So there I am with some kid who can, at best, only do a half-** job since he doesn't even have all the equipment needed for the call.

I was mortified. In over 38 yrs of driving, I have had multiple situations where I needed a flat changed or towed into a service center but never have I ever waited over 3 hrs just to have someone show up who couldn't even properly change a tire and put air into a spare...especially when I told the Good Sam's dispatcher that very vital piece of information twice!!

So now it was 4:45 p.m. and I have a semi-flat spare on my truck and have to find a service department or gas station with an air pump. I don't live in that town, I live 30 minutes away from there, so I had no idea where to even go. I had to drive my truck around basically on the rim to find air. Needless to say, I had to do half the job myself and get my own air in the tire. AAA never in 30+years put me in this kind of screwed-up situation.

I am very unhappy with Good Sam's because THEY CHOSE this team or service corporation to help me. I don't even know the name of this contractor, as I got no receipt, and there was nothing on the guy's truck, no badge, nothing... Believe me, if I knew who they were I would be reporting them as well. Honestly, this was a legendary pooch screw. And I was put in danger by being forced to drive in a heavily trafficked area on a semi-flat tire searching for an air source.

These people are just above and beyond. My husband and I are full time RV'rs and we're traveling to our next destination. We decided to stop at a reservoir IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE IDAHO to boondock for a bit. We got slightly off the makeshift road trying to get as far away from everyone as possible and ended up stuck in the lake bed with our 1 ton dually and 35' camper. Everything from the beginning of the first phone call was just very impressive. They made it SSSOOO much easier to call in and be located and collect all the necessary info than AAA. Long story short it took 5 hours to get the tow driver out and when he did show up he had tripled his price and seemed like he was about to tear our frame right off the camper!

When I called to express my concern for the situation The representatives called the tow company and settled the situation and COVERED THE ENTIRE $2800!!! 2 days later we are then in Oregon and get a flat tire... Bad spare.... They covered the tow for us on that as well... No questions asked... If you don't have Good Sam Roadside you are just cheating yourself out of something amazing... and wasting money as well!!! We will ALWAYS have these people on our side... Good Sam Companies,, stay away. RUN. Good Sam, the nation's largest RV motor club also owns National General insurance, Campers World, Central coast resorts and more. DO NOT join their club or buy any of their insurance. They are liars and cheats just like all American insurance companies. I was just woken to high wind gusts and rain and had to climb onto the roof of my motorhome to re-secure my already damaged roof. My roof was badly damaged late August from a really bad monsoon storm that torn up the back end of my motorhome's roof, I was waiting for the insurance company to get the roof fixed only to find out the Good Sam insurance company is doing everything to avoid paying the claim, and I can't afford to fight them nor the money to replace the one piece fiberglass roof. The motorhome is my home, I live in it.

I'm a volunteer at Tonto National Forest, I bought more than enough insurance to cover anything and everything. Mariann ** the damage claims representative for the Good Sam insurance company National General insurance says the roof was not maintained,, WTF. She ignored her own document adjuster that came out for 2 hours and documented all the damage and the dealer that sent an email stating that the motorhome including the roof were in excellent condition, Good Sam is a bean counter company that gambles on the little guy losing.

They do not want to pay $7-8,000.00 to replace the roof or any of the other damage from wind or water getting in like carpet floor, cracked shower ceiling, slide-out awnings which is all about another $3,000.00. I would take a check for the roof and walk away and do the other repairs myself, but they won't budge. Asking me for more proof it was maintained. It's a fiberglass roof that gets washed with soap and water and waxed like a normal car per Winnebago Motorhome maintenance recommendations. I'm hoping social media might help my situation if everyone reposted and I can get the Good Sam companies on the all crap list, who knows. Any attorneys pissed off with Good Sam are welcome, I'm here. Thank you, David **

We were thrilled to find this company and used them several times. However, we did not know that when we followed their phone assistant's directions... When they said to get the battery charged and wait till tomorrow to see if the works and if not call them and they will arrange for towing. This happened several times because we were unlucky enough to have batteries DIE on 3 cars.

It seems that each time we called and called back it was a hit on the total number of incidents we were allowed. On June 26, 2021 they dropped us for "your utilization falls outside our normal guidelines". Surprised!!!! Admittedly we did call more than expected but it was at their instruction. No matter though we now have a company that even though they also have limits they never drop you or let you hanging. This new company finds service for you. You may have to pay for it but you are not left sitting on the road wondering who to call on what to do next. I would not recommend Good Sam to anyone.

Up until July of this year I would have said if you’re looking for roadside look no further. I used them about 3 years ago and it was great, but then in July of 21 they changed my tune. My HONDA Pilot 2016 engine blew 75 miles east of Boise, ID. Called Good SAM and spent almost 4 hours of them trying to locate me. As you can see that was difficult as I gave them a mile marker on US 20 and a cross street. Then when they finally located me, they told me as a Platinum + member I could only get towed 4 miles. I stated that the paperwork said nearest authorized repairer for the car was how far they would tow it. (And there was nothing closer than about 25 miles) customer service had a very nice lady (nicest in this entire experience). Call me back but by then my buddy had left work and gotten a U-Haul car trailer and was about 15 min out.

Day after incident I submitted my claim reimbursement, with everything attached. Got acceptance of claim submission with receipts attached. It was denied for no receipts, after they did not even reach out to me. Called 2 days later. They said resubmit... Resubmitted that day... Got acceptance of claim submission. Called 2 days later... Nothing on record... Submitted next day... Got acceptance of claim submission. Called 2 days later... "We have your claim, and someone will be reaching out to you." 31 days later crickets. Called, and "We have your claim. Someone will be reaching out to you."

On Sept 7th our first day on a 11 day trip our front brake on a 2 axel trailer caught fire at about 3pm. We managed to pull off the road and phoned them. Our nightmare began. After sitting on the side of the road for 2 days in an 18 ft trailer and 2 dogs (over 30 hours) I ended up looking after this problem without their help. Was a total joke and answering their questions multiple times after about 20 phone calls and having to load up my cell phone so we can talk was a huge problem. After 30 hours a tow truck driver said he was on his way and was dispatched to the wrong location. He never showed up and no call back from this ** company.

When I got home I sent off a complaint saying I want an explanation on why I was so let down and I want my money back. I got a call back from someone who wanted to verify my address and said they would send me a check. (It's like it was worth it to get rid of me and lose me as a customer than having to tow a 18 ft trailer to where I can get a broken axel fixed). Good Sam arranged for a local service to take care of it, but they “no showed” claiming, after 2 hours, that their truck broke down??? The RV was parked in front of our home, so it was much less stressful. After another hour Good Sam put me in touch with two supervisors who explained it was a busy Friday evening and due to Covid service companies were short handed. It took another two hours for a service company, located about 60 miles from my home to get to me. I presume Good Sam paid extra for that...but they did take care of it. One supervisor kept in constant contact until the job was done. Granted the situation was not ideal but I appreciated Good Sam’s honesty and determination in getting the job completed.

Good Sam Roadside Assistance cancelled my policy because they said the cost of my membership "significantly exceeded those averages."

So...they couldn't have made that decision BEFORE charging my debit card???? Now I am waiting for a pro-rated refund that will take 4 weeks. This is unacceptable! I was stuck on the interstate with pick-up and 30 foot travel trailer about 6:00 pm. After being on the phone for a long time giving a lot of info, etc the woman was asking more questions about my location. I gave the closest town and the exit number where I was etc. I finally said "should I call a tow truck. You sound like you might not be able to help me". Her response was "well not today". (By this time it was getting dark.) I asked for her name and or employee number and she hung up on me. I called a tow truck and paid for it myself.

My other issue was on a Sunday about 1:30 pm long time on phone giving info. Then long time waiting for a callback. Finally got a callback from someone with a bad cutting out phone asking about what motor was in my truck. His phone quit and I never got called back. Somewhere about 4:00 I gave up and dealt with it myself. A lot of money I should not have spent. I thought I HAD insurance, I sure paid for it. Good Sam SUCKS! Can you tell I'm frustrated and angry?

Then the ad I saw when I bought said 500 miles. Today when I call for tow, it’s 9 miles unless it’s being towed to a certified shop. Then it’s unlimited. WTF?

I waited almost 5 hours in 98 degree weather. The first time I used them my ignition went out less than a mile from home. I waited nearly 2 hour only for my be truck to never show. Didn’t answer calls from me or Good Sam. So they had to call a different provider. Meaning I had to wait even longer. Good Sam is a joke. They tow you where they want. You don’t go to just any dentist, doctor, etc. So if you want to take your car to your regular mechanic, you crap out of luck. Because they show there is a certified shop .5 miles away. That’s where you have to go. Otherwise you have to pay for your tow. Very misleading advertising. First I was told I had 9 miles free. Then I was told I only had 4 miles free. Just all the way ad everywhere. I give them a negative 1000 with a moldy cherry on top. AAA I’m on my way back…

Marcus at Good Sam/camping world posts signs. IF YOU'RE NOT HAPPY, I'M NOT HAPPY. CALL MY OFFICE. Not happening. "We are experiencing high than usual call volume, please wait or call back". So I sent an email. No response. So we broke down towing a 2020 Montana in south Pennsylvania. Called in our platinum top tier tow coverage. Long story condensed...six hours to get confirmed tow trucks en route. So my contract says all vehicles covered. It is after all RV towing coverage. Good Sam uses a third party conglomerate service named Agero posing as good Sam FYI. They have no clue about good Sam coverage. We were told we could have a tow company but the camper was covered but not the truck.

Three times operators put us on hold to check with supervisors who confirmed BOTH vehicles were covered. In the end the excuse was, no tow dispatch could happen without credit card payment to good Sam of $191.00 and if we refused they would cancel our tow. We were promised a receipt for both tows so we could submit a claim since Agero agreed we shouldn't have to pay but the computer made us. Three days on with dispatch and no receipt was received. So we paid. We have since called Marcus' office. Good Sam customer service and submitted a claim online. Claim said 4-6 weeks for review. Almost instantly got a denial for failure to submit a receipt even though I included pictures of email conversations we had with Agero saying they sent the receipt but it never came and they didn't know why.

So currently in addition to having the top tier towing coverage, good Sam held us hostage over a $191 charge illegally. And as stated, save your breath getting any satisfaction out of customer service. The one rep we spoke with agreed based on our contract we shouldn't have had to pay anything but still no resolve from good Sam. Tow operator found it comical we had to pay also and said he never heard of such an arrangement.

Summary...we did get towed but not until we were extorted for more money. But if you get stuck and think good Sam will bail you out....think again. They might, but not without a bunch of nonsense. And be aware that good Sam is not good Sam, but a third party company. My advice I am doing. I'm keeping good Sam, but also buying AAA RV ultimate. I'll have both. Good luck to those who unfortunately break down and have to use good Sam.

The first time I broke down, called for assistance, and sat on the side of the road for 2 hours in 108 degree heat and no tow showed up. I called back. They told me the tow company told them they could not do the tow because they did not have a truck heavy enough to tow my truck, which I understood. The problem was nobody called a second company to do the tow and nobody could be bothered to let me know what was going on. After 5 hours a tow truck did show up.

Now just the other day my truck broke down again and I was parked in at Walmart parking lot. And after 2 days I did not hear from the dealership regarding the repair they said my truck was not there. So I called Good Sam and they said my file showed that the tow company told them they could not do the tow because they did not have a truck to tow mine. Again nobody could follow up with me and they did not bother to call a second company. After 3 days a second company was called and a truck is on its way to pick it up. I would of hoped that when somebody calls, when the make and model of the vehicle to be towed is entered a list pops up showing who can provide the needed assistance so this problem does not continue. It would also save on doing double or even triple processing of a request for assistance.

Good Sam is very difficult to deal with. They really only cover items similar to what your auto/RV insurance provider would/could provide. So best to just stay with your insurance provider and add coverage as needed. Good Sam focuses on tire incidents, towing, fuel delivery. If you have a breakdown they only cover the fix if a mobile mechanic completes the repair. Their network of mobile mechanics is very very poor. Coupled with the fact that most RV repair shops are over booked, if you find a Good Sam approved mobile mechanic they probably won't bother to take your case.

This happened in two separate incidents on a recent trip. I was forced to limp by travel trailer into a local shop which made time to look at my issue. Good Sam informed me that they would reimburse the cost, but when I called them back after the fix they declined my claim because I actually went into a physical shop rather than wait for a non-existent mobile mechanic. Save yourself the headache. Let Good Sam go the way of the irrelevant AAA.

Based off of their website I purchased a membership for 3 years of roadside assistance. The site claims "We pay 100% of towing fees to the nearest service center - no matter if it's 5 or 500 miles away" and "No pre-set mileage restrictions or dollar limits." However they do not tell you that it has to be the service center THEY choose, even if it not suitable to work on your car. If you choose your own service center, they want more money. Three times I had to get supervisors to override the extra charges to tow to the suitable repair facility. All of the tows were UNDER 5 miles. When I called to get a refund of the over 2 years of membership I prepaid, they refused because they said I had used the service already. So prepaying for 2 extra years was a waste of money since they will not give it back.

Then 2 days later we are now on the side of the road with a blown out tire that ripped through our water line and some wiring under the trailer. Updated on 06/28/2021: Here is another horrible experience with Good Sam doing absolutely nothing to tow our bus. We started this endeavor on Tuesday with constantly calling to check on the tow, each and every time having to give them the same ** data. Finally at 8:30pm a tow truck arrived and within 10 minutes he stated that he cannot tow this bus and abruptly left...no explanation as to why. So Saturday rolls around and we have another tow lined up at 8:30 at night, but the tow truck never showed, so we rescheduled for Sunday morning.

As usual we started calling to check on the tow and much to our surprise, the tow fell through. So by now we have been talking directly to the Tow Truck service by calling/texting/emailing. Interesting response as to why one provider would not show up and I quote from their email. "Good afternoon, We have a payment dispute with the insurance company (Good Sam). They have not sent full payment over. We have called them multiple times and have had no success in getting through to the payment department. You are 180 miles from us. It would take him 3-4 hours to get to you. I do apologize. The phone number they gave us for you is disconnected. Can you provide an updated phone number please?" To top it off, they could not even give the tow service our actual number. DO NOT PURCHASE NO MATTER HOW GOOD YOU THINK IT IS!!!

Original Review: Good Sam is the most worthless roadside assistance out there. DO NOT BUY!!! Today is Saturday and we still have not been towed since our initial call on Tuesday. They try to get you to give up by constantly asking you the same questions and NEVER calling you back. Today started at 8am, it is 6:41pm now and we are no closer to a tow than we were yesterday, or the day before, or the day before.

Once I started driving the wheel slipped and the acceleration stopped. I had to get it towed to my house as it was a weekend and nobody was open. I called for service the next day to have them put the spare on the back wheel and they never showed up. Customer service was horrible and they refused to refund my membership fee.

We have been with Good Sam's Roadside Assistance for quite a while. Thankfully we haven't used them much, two times prior to this last episode. Our truck (pulling a 5th wheel) broke down on Interstate 74. My husband was able to get off the edge of the rode, barely. I called Good Sam's at 10:00 a.m. Throughout the day I spoke to five different people, lengthy conversations. I kept being told that help was on the way. When nobody would show up, that's when I would call again. I have no idea what on earth was going on, but the tow trucks weren't set out to us until after 9:00 p.m., arriving at our location at 11:30 p.m. The only good thing from an otherwise horrible situation was how great the tow truck drivers were. I have no idea why we kept getting a runaround from Sam's, but there is absolutely no excuse for us to have to sit beside the side of a very busy interstate for 13 1/2 hours. Extremely disappointed!!

Now I have a red flag on my account with them and they will be canceling my service with them. With the last service call I waited 4 hours after the tow truck company kept passing me. Spoke to a representative after the fact to see why I was charged the additional charge when it was only 5 miles away and was told I was wrongly charged, but that I had to submit in writing a request for a refund. Just received the letter saying it was denied. Could've paid $60 to have it towed, without having to pay the additional membership costs. Also had to wait 2 hours for the tow truck to arrive. The whole process was inconvenient. Had to call in, then while on the phone with the representative, had to log in on my phone to submit all the information online. It was fine if you just need a jump, but save your money on their membership and just buy one of those jump start boxes and do that yourself. I immediately canceled my membership and joined AAA.

After I wrote this review. I called Good Sam again. The service rep. got right to work in solving my issue. That was 2 days ago (Saturday). Today (Monday) I got a call 1st thing this morning from Good Sam telling me they had arranged to pick up my RV and tow it to the first Truck repair place it was originally supposed to go to. Needless to say I was impressed. The tow is supposed to happen today. While this has been tough to deal with, at least Good Sam is making an effort to correct the mistakes that were made. I'll update this review if a monkey wrench gets thrown into this new arrangement. I do want to thank Good Sam for this follow up.

I don't know where to begin. My Motorhome broke down 3 weeks ago in the middle of nowhere. I have the unlimited mileage package to a place that will repair it. I found a truck repair shop and Good Sam first agreed to tow it there, then refused. They said they found another place closer. It has been at that place 3 weeks and it is not an RV/Truck repair shop. That place just looked at it yesterday (after 3 weeks!). I'll have to pay to tow it to a Truck repair, 90 miles away. Good Sam Roadside assistance is a Joke! I spent over 5 hours on the phone with different customer service representatives while broken down. How does this service give me peace of mind? (It doesn't.) I am still in disbelief over this entire incident. I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone.

They told me that the company was having problems getting a driver and said they would be there in 30 minutes, which would have been an hour after the call was put in. I called again after 90 minutes after she put in the call. I was told it was going to be another 15 minutes. When they finally showed up 110 minutes after her call, the guy said they had just gotten the call. My guess is they had to switch companies. So my daughter missed over 2 hours of work.

After another hour and a half I called the towing company and they said that Good Sam never really authorized them and so they could not respond. I called Good Sam and they seemed very confused and the lady said she could not help. It had to be a supervisor. Finally talked to a supervisory and he got it straightened out. At 4 pm the tow truck arrived to change the tire. Over 5 hours waiting in Arizona heat just about put me over the edge. I have been a member of Good Sam for a few years and have used their service 3-4 different times. Each time, it has been way more frustrating than it needs to be. You call them and the first thing they ask is, "Where are you?" I am holding a phone with a GPS built in, and I have to explain to them verbally where I am. They discontinued their mobile app instead of using it as the means of communicating with them. I SHOULD be able to go to their app (that no longer exists), hit a button calling for help, and have them TELL ME where I am. (The Uber driver knows what airport door I am standing at!)

I should be able to track the tow truck driver coming to me (like I can track my groceries coming via Insta-Cart). When I was charged automatically to renew, I went to the website to cancel. No way to cancel on the website. The "contact us" button returned an error. I called the number for "assistance" and waited several minutes because "all our operators are busy." To their credit, I was finally able to talk to someone and cancel.

It COULD be so good, with the right technology, but the execution is so poor. They need to hire that "Profit" guy to come in and overhaul their entire business. (In case you don't know, he happens to be the CEO of Good Sam. Amazing, huh.) A service like this needs to be easy to use. It needs to have tracking built in. It needs to make use of the common technology that would make it great.

Instead, Good Sam is stuck in a time warp, using phones and verbal directions (when you blow a tire on the interstate, you generally have no idea what town you are technically in or where you are, unless you happen to be right next to a mile marker.) Oh, and once you join, they will continue to charge your credit card year after year after year until you explicitly cancel. I even changed credit card numbers after losing my card, but they figured out how to charge the new one.

I just wanted to make everyone aware...Please do NOT accept a membership with Good Sam Roadside Assistance! On 4/15/21, we were headed to the mountains, on vacation on 1-65N, when we had a tire blow out on our motorhome. We were on the side of the interstate and I mean close. I immediately called the GS number at 2:10pm and was told by Gordon that they would dispatch a tire service out of Montgomery (which was 14 miles) from us and it would be approximately (up to) 90 minutes but no more than. No one ever reached out to us.

After an hour and 45 minutes I called back to the GS number and spoke to Kyle and he said he would see what was going on and call me back. He didn’t call me back! So after sitting there 2-1/2 hours, I called back and got Gordon again. Well, he put me on hold and after 5 minutes or more, he came back to the phone and said it was going to be another 90 minutes!

At that point, I told him to cancel the order and the $418.26 (had already been charged to my credit card) for the new tire and service. Well, that took 3 days to get credited to my cc. As soon as we got home from vacation, needless to say I canceled my roadside platinum complete. Yes, they did credit my membership of $219.95 a few days later. The reason I purchased this was for peace of mind BUT it didn’t work! FYI...After canceling with GS on the interstate that day. I googled a Mobil Tire Service out of Montgomery and they had a gentlemen there with a new tire in 20 minutes! So, please do yourself a favor and do NOT use Good Sam!!!

I don't, or didn't until last week, have any experience with needing roadside assistance, so I don't know if this is a good or bad review. I know I'm no longer confident with Good Sam. This was my 3rd year with Good Sam, and I have the Platinum Complete plan because when I bought my used motorhome I didn't want to stress and worry about what to do if something happened. One call to take care of it seems like a good deal. All has been pretty good until I had a 60 mph blowout on the left front of that motorhome. I wasn't very concerned at first, after all I had Good Sam's best plan. So I called, the agent was very cordial and dispatched a new tire and the tech to perform a road change. Then, even after paying my annual dues, I had to come up with ALL $676 for the service right out of my pocket, now I have to worry if I'll ever get reimbursed.

I had to call the shop they hired to get pictures of the tire because the agent didn't run me thru the process, and Good Sam doesn't tell you it is nothing more than an insurance policy....not really a true roadside assistance program because not only does the member have to take care of everything themselves to make sure they get reimbursed, they have to sit on pins and needles waiting an unspecified time just to find out if they will get their reimbursement. I still don't know if I will. I sent the pics in and received no confirmation, I sent a follow-up email to attempt to get confirmation and still haven't heard anything. I feel as though I'm being ignored. If this is a normal Roadside Program customer treatment, then Good Sam is outstanding and this is a positive review.

We had to use our so called coverage yesterday, we were traveling home from a cross county trip in our Dodge 3500, we didn’t have our fifth wheel with us. Our truck started blowing smoke and making noise. We pulled over and called Good Sam for a tow after speaking to a repair shops who said “do not drive it, have it towed.” I called Good Sam at 2:30 in the afternoon. I was told that we could ONLY be towed to a local Walmart, because that was our closest location. However Walmart does not work on Diesel engines and the representative confirm this with Walmart but said that’s all they would offer us. I was then hung up on when I asked if they would provide that in writing.

I called again and was told the same thing, we would only be towed to Walmart and left there overnight in the parking lot and could call them again the next morning. I made sure they were aware we didn’t have our 5th wheel and were in our truck with our kids. They said they understood but unless we wanted to pay out of pocket for the tow Walmart was it. So we called several diesel shops and finally found one that would let us have the truck towed and try and diagnose the next day. So, we called Good Sam again, they said yes they would have it towed to the location. (Only 13 miles away,) but we will be responsible for anything over 6 miles. We were upset but agreed because what else could we do, they said the tow truck would be there within an hour.

When the tow company texted they said it would be 2 hours!!! Still ok,,, not happy but we are literally stuck. What else can we do. I asked our representative about the trip interruption insurance since we were clearly stranded for hotel coverage and she said “I have no idea, you need to talk to someone.” I would run from this company. Do yourself a favor and do not get a policy with them. Keep in mind we have the platinum complete level, the most expensive.

We then requested a tow for the truck and travel trailer and was told we would be contacted with an ETA soon. After several calls to Good Sam we were told it was escalated to the highest level but still no estimate. About 5 hours later a tow truck stopped (not from Good Sam) and changed our flat in about 20 minutes. We gladly paid out of pocket $104 and were back on the road.

Were were told by Good Sam to request a claim and they would decide if they would refund us the cost of the service. We made that claim and are hoping for the refund. There were about 12 other vehicles that hit the same pot hole and we were the last ones on the side of the road. What's the use in having roadside assistance if you get no assistance when you need it. Very unhappy with Good Sam, and I would not recommend them to anyone.

The claims department works hard, but not for the member. They work hard for the company. When I submitted my claim, I was required to submit information as many would be expected to. It started when I called the dispatch while traveling through Oklahoma. The representative was very flustered and didn’t seem like he knew what he was doing. He had a heavy accent which gives me the impression that this is outsourced overseas. He said to take some pictures of the tire, then take it to get repaired. Once repaired send Good Sam the pictures and invoice and they will reimburse you up to 900 dollars for a tire and wheel if necessary.

I took the RV in for repairs and once the repairs were complete, I took the RV to the nearest recommended tire shop. I had the tire replaced along with a tire on the truck which required repair from a nail. There was no charge for the truck, but the tire for the RV was replaced. I submitted that information to Good Sam and they denied my claim stating that they were not able to determine if it was road hazard related.

This is not about the money. This is about how they treat members. I have been a member of Good Sam and never had to use their insurance. The one time I did, they gave me the **. I have calculated over 600 dollars in membership, not to include many of their other services. This was a bad experience from the beginning, and I will never give another dime to Good Sam again. Even though I have a house in the city, I have been a full-time RV’r for almost 3 years now. I will make sure that every person I talk to knows my experience with Good Sam.

STAY AWAY: I just had my 2015 Tiffin towed 52 miles to a Cummins dealer. It broke down in an area that I had no cell service, had to walk to use a landline. The call I made was to a towing service not Good Sam. With using someone else's phone is the issue of calling them and GS having to call back many times to get this done. And the possibility of the wrecker not showing up and having to walk back to use someone else's phone. Long story short by me not calling GS first they REFUSED to pay the towing bill. As it says in the program details call WITHIN 24 hrs and I did this. FYI- Tow bill was $1500.00 for a 42 ft motorhome.

The first time I used them they said it was now 10 miles and I would need to pay overages for anything over that. I just needed them again and now they are saying the limit is 2 miles. The car is 1 mile from my house but they are saying their system shows it's 2 miles and they want to charge for overages again. This is the worst service ever. I'm cancelling my policy.

I lost a wheel bearing in Wyoming and had to be towed about 50 miles to get to a repair facility. I called Good Sam and they wanted to send out a Mobil mechanic. It was 11 o’clock at night. The grease had caught fire because it had got so hot. I had pulled the hub and could tell the spindle on the axel was ruined and I knew I would have to have a new axel.

I have worked as a mechanic so I knew what I was talking about. They refused the tow. The wind was blowing hard and the roads were slick. I did not want to sit alongside the highway waiting on a Mobil mechanic knowing they couldn’t help me. I called customer service a few days later and never heard back from them. I’ve had this service for several years and have never had a claim before now. This service is not worth having. It doesn’t do any good to call customer service.

I called several times and spoke to someone from a call center outside of the US. No show! Changed the tire myself with my wife. After we repaired ourselves (2.5 hours after our call) they returned one of my calls to say they would come in 1 - 2 hours! Don’t waste you money on this service! I will be calling and demanding a full refund.

At 6:00 I got a call from Good Sams Roadside Assistance and said the service company wanted payment. I told them they never showed up and not to pay. After reading other reviews this seems to be common practice for Good Sams Roadside Assistance. Updated on 12/16/2020: So, this is an update of my review from October 2020. I have been in contact several times, and was told many times that my membership fees would be reimbursed then they reversed it saying I received services! Even tho no mobile mechanic actually came out. Then I received a call saying they couldn't prove the company was dispatched and apologized, yet I still don't have my money. What a scam! Maybe I'll update to 2 stars if I ever get my money, but definitely no more than that. I would never recommend Good Sam to anyone.

Original Review: My yearly subscription had lapsed this October, and even though my experience with Good Sam hadn't been the best in the past, I renewed with them. I chose them over AAA because their prices were similar, but my vehicle didn't need to be registered to receive service. I was towed this July and still have not been reimbursed, though I was told it was an eligible tow. And I requested a mobile mechanic on Monday and it's Wednesday afternoon now and I'm still waiting on confirmation that someone is actually coming out. Hardly anyone has been in contact.. It's just a frustrating waiting game!

Beware the Good Sam Club Roadside Assistance debiting system! if you have RAP coverage through Good Sam and it's set to auto renew, REGARDLESS the fact that you have it set up to renew on a certain day AFTER PAYDAY, REGARDLESS the fact that an RAP Agent will ASSURE YOU that you have nothing to worry about - THEY WILL debit your account up to 2 WEEKS EARLY! They'll do this AFTER Close Of Business - between 8-11pm and even if you call them within 12 hours to STOP the ensuing bounce and subsequent NSF Fees you'll incur, THEY'LL NOT BE ABLE or WILLING to STOP the POS from taking place. NOW, you'll be screwed!

They'll happily refund your premium - 5-7 DAYS later but you'll not be getting any love so far as THAT NSF charge - or any other compensation for the damages which THEY just SINGLE HANDEDLY created. While I still respect National General and carry an insurance Ryder on my camper through THEM as well as an ESP/Tire and wheel damage plan, GS RSA is dead to me now. I highly recommend TVCMCA - Travel Club Motor Club America (bills @ $19 monthly) and H.O.G. for my scooter and my truck - and personally, I'll never hold another Good Sam RSP in my life.

I broke down (Diesel pusher motorcoach) in a bad location and hired a local mobile tech when Good Sam's referral was 90+ minutes away. It turned out that the mobile tech was unable to fix it and I had to have it towed to the nearest Caterpillar dealer; again, I was unable to use Good Sam as it was crucial to get it to Caterpillar before they closed and the mobile tech knew a tow company. Needless to say, the HD tow bill was painful! Since I didn't even TRY to use Good Sam for the towing ahead of time, I figured they probably would not honor my claim submitted after-the-fact. But, I was wrong: they paid the full amount of my towing! This is the right way to do business, and I am a member for life.

We purchased Good Sam Roadside Assistance last year after buying our first motorhome. We discovered later that the extended warranty on our motorhome also includes roadside assistance, but decided to keep both for the time being. When GoodSam auto renewed our membership, they did it at the higher Platinum coverage for $219.95. We do not need the Platinum coverage and did not sign up for that level. I have made numerous phone calls trying to get our membership cancelled and refunded.

First attempt, the agent said he was sending it over to the cancellation department and it would be taken care of. Didn't happen. Second attempt, the agent said they could not get that department to answer and to call back later. Third attempt, the wait time was over 30 minutes and since it was the weekend, I decided to call back on the following Monday. Fourth attempt, the agent was terribly rude and actually hung up on me. Fifth attempt, I called Marcus Lemonis' office number and a nice young lady answered and apologized for my troubles. She said the refund had been made and would post in 3-4 days on my credit card. If it does not, I will file a claim with my credit card. This is horrible customer service. I can only imagine how it would be if you actually needed help!

I recently purchased a 36 Foot R.V. Being new to this I also purchased some RV magazines. I buy some roadside assistance, just in case. I thought I read all the small print and assumed I was in good hands. Here is what happened to me. I bought the BEST Plan. "RA Platinum". My member number **. This plan reads 'Best Roadside assistance available including unlimited distance towing, plus TIRE @ WHEEL ROAD HAZARD. Sound pretty good doesn't it...

This past Monday on 9/21/20 at 2:00PM I was traveling on Rte 195 in Dartmouth, MA (about 1 hour from my home on Cape Cod, MA) when my RV went into what I'd call disaster mode. Both rear tires on the passenger rear became dislodged from the axle. THANK GOD NOBODY GOT HURT-- AND I'M SO THANKFUL THIS EVENT DID NOT HURT ANYONE ELSE. Before I pulled over I saw The hub cap flying thru the air. I got into the breakdown lane- very busy expressway. I won't bore you with all the emotional crap. I have "GOOD SAM". I made the call and requested ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE.

What did I get? "NOTHING." I was told help was on the way. I was also told I would get text messages- I got none... I sat there for hours. I made numerous calls. After 2 1/2 hours I exited my RV and placed boards under my leveling jacks. I raised my RV very high. I removed both rear wheels. Should I have had to do this? "Absolutely not." After 3 hours I called Good Sam again. I was informed that someone would be in touch me. Moments later Good Sam informed they located a RV Mechanic and he would be calling me. Good Sam reported to me "we cover the call - you have to pay $!50.00 an hour plus parts." This what was said to me. Why not just tow me home? Whatever I've been sitting here for 3 hours.

Moments later I get a call, he tells me he is a RV mechanic. I explained what happened, and what's needed to fix this. This mechanic tells me "I'm in Kingston, MA." This is over an hour away. Yep This what Good Sam did for me. It gets better. I'm told to call a auto parts store in Kingston, MA- order the parts and pay for them- This mechanic will grab them and head my way. OK I do as I'm told- Nothing more was discussed- no talk of money-rates etc... I figure I'm in good hands. I got GOOD SAM right.

It's getting dark -- It's been 4 hours- A good samaritan TOW TRUCK Driver stops. A company called Dartmouth Towing- Nothing to do with GOOD SAM. His name was "GABE". Out of the kindness he begins to repair my RV. While doing so the so called GOOD SAM RV Mechanic arrives. It took 20 minutes. The GOOD SAM mechanic then charges me $425.00. He reports to me that he gets 2.0 hours for travel and 1.0 hours to fix. I prepaid for the parts. When I argue he knocks $50.00 off the bill. He goes on and on how GOOD SAM should have told me all this. I'm too exhausted and overwhelmed and VENMO the guy $425.00.

Best part of it all - GOOD SAM sent to my location a lawnmower repairman. I ask everyone to google this guy. Good Sam sent a guy named KEVIN ** from Plymouth, MA. When I googled the guy I learned a lot. You are not in good hands with GOOD SAM. They sent a crook to me. A lawnmower repairman. So I complained to GOOD SAM and was asked to submit a claim for reimbursement. Today I got an email from Stephanie **. It reads "my request has been denied." If necessary and whenever possible, depending on the RV there may be a local mobile mechanic that can perform minor repairs etc... Goes on why they won't do anything.

I would tell anyone that will listen, Don't believe what you read in those RV magazines about GOOD SAM. My single incident will be going to The Massachusetts Attorneys Generals Office as this company ripped me off. I did not get The Best Roadside Assistance with unlimited distance towing plus tire and wheel road hazard that I PAID FOR.

We purchased a Good Sam membership when we first began RV camping (at my parent's recommendation). We attempted to use the service once, and they charged us for calling them, but never provided service. We decided not to renew, but they charged us for renewal anyway on a credit card other than the one we signed up with. We think they used the credit card number we provided for the service they never provided to renew our membership without authorization.

Additionally, when my husband tried to log into the account online, he received a "this account does not exist" message. They also charged a "platinum" price and sent us a membership card for a "standard" account. When I called to cancel the membership which was in my husband's name, they told me that he would have to call because my name wasn't on the account. This was even though I had all the information about the account including the account number and the credit card used to pay for the account. At the same time, they informed me that even if he could log in to the account online, he could not cancel the account online.

I've now been completely out of food and water for 4 days not to mention had not been able to groom, shower or anything for the entire experience despite asking for a mere campsite, after being in my RV nightly for almost a month camped out at a subpar garage.

Getting it towed a third time, lost 25 days of work so far and 5 of vacation, spent more than 600 to sustain my level of dehydration thus. Out of money, roommate died 3 days ago, Good Sam couldn't help with anything further like a rental, camp, concierge, or know what the hourly rate various shops charge offhand, is it's usually franchise set. So today is day 25, I've located new parts and brought them all here with the truck, and still they want to charge 14 hours on a 5 or 6 hour job, even after treating me like a castaway.

Saturday night 5:30 pm On Interstate I-40 near Exit 333 between the Texas boarder and Albuquerque New Mexico in a 45 foot Class A camper. On board my 2 sisters and our combined 4 kids average age 14. Front right steer tire blows out on a turn at 75mph and we brush into an 18 wheeler 's trailer. Fortunately for us all I'm a professional bus driver and was able to control the situation leaving all parties involved safely on the shoulder of the 4 lane highway. Police said it was a non accident because no damage occurred to the truck and it was just a blow out and damage was limited to just the camper.

I called Good Sam (GS). I explained the situation and said I needed a tire and per the police, I would need a new wheel also. GS then looked for roadside service but to no avail. I told them I was literally 6 miles from my destination for the night at the local KOA and I knew there was services at that exit, Loves Fuel being one of them. GS called Loves and spoke to a mechanic and were told they had everything I needed. GS gave me the number to call. Unfortunately Loves refused to take my call because I did not have a commercial account and just because I have 8 truck tires on the camper they still will not work on an RV.

Now it was closer to 8 pm and I knew my options were diminishing. I called back GS and they said there was nothing they could do, to call back Monday morning! As speeding 18 wheelers are trucking by 5' from where my children were sleeping I can honestly say I lost my mind. We agreed I should be towed off the road and he contacted a tow service from the next exit. I suggested to be towed into the campsite so we could sleep safely. Two hours later still no tow truck. When I called GS they said the tow company decided they were not going to do the job because our location was to dangerous for retrieval. I explained I called that company and they didn't want to bring me into the KOA so they cancelled. They never came out and they lied about the situation.

I still felt unsafe in this situation. That's when GS said to call an Uber. And that's when I asked if that's what Premium membership gets from GS? He told me there wasn't anything he could do. After a lengthy conversation and some additional calls he agreed to send out a tow truck from Texas. Hours later I got a call saying I refused the tow and wanted Tire service only. I'm sure that's when I feel asleep. 8:30am I called the owner of the camper in NY and within 15 min there was a guy with a pickup truck parked in the brush along side my camper. He put on a retread (all he had) and I drove to the next exit where a different truck tire company was waiting with a new tire.

By 10am we were on the road headed for Albuquerque with a new tire and a retread spare. Apparently the wheel was ok and held air so that was that ...or so I thought. The only thing I had to do was fight for my money because of the extra tire and the missed reservations at the KOA. In the end I got $1200 from GS and a kiss from the CEO of GS and it was just another day in paradise.

Final thoughts: Good Sam is really a service broker with very little if no pull with any service company. If you need a tire you have to get on with their tire department. If you need a tow you have to call another number and when you call in you are talking to a person who is not in any way familiar with the service available to you at your current location.

The worst is GS has no skin in the game and will not make things happen. They are trained to check your account and pass the call to a third party contractor. GS dumps you and does not advocate for you with the people that ultimately do the work. The lack of communication between GS, the third party contractor, the service provider and you the customer camping overnight on the white line of a four lane highway is insane. So do what we did ...pick up your cell phone and say "siri closest tire repair". Get your family off the road before it gets dark and then worry about Good Sam making good on their policy.

August 26, 2020 at 4:00 PM, I began the terrible misadventure of trying to my Good Sam Roadside Assistance coverage soon after having mounted my Lance Truck-bed Camper in preparation for a camping trip which needed to be cancelled. I called for towing and the Good Sam C.S. Rep. who answered the phone (Dave) answered by stammering and generally acting like he had no idea how to even answer a phone much less take the information needed to get me a towed to my mechanic.

After being on hold for almost 15 minutes, Dave comes back on the line to tell me someone from the emergency roadside department will call me to set everything up. I waited a good 30 minutes without hearing from anyone so called back to get Dave again at Good Sam who yet again who puts me on hold for about another 10 minutes before someone named Wayne comes on the line to take my information all over again and I mention the information was already provided to Dave well over 45 minutes before. Then after another long hold with Wayne he comes back on the line and tells me they will only tow me 2-miles to THIER closest service center and that I must pay for anything further than 2-miles.

I immediately confront him with the fact I have the Premium Policy which clearly says "unlimited mileage" and makes no reference to having to use "their facility" and insist to speak with a supervisor about this which causes yet another extended hold time (pushing an hour and 15 minutes since my first attempt to get towing). Finally I speak with Edel, who says he's waiving the 2-mile limit for me and they will take it to my regular shop (15 miles away).

When I ask about the 2-mile limit is when I discover Edel and Wayne work for a Third-party (Road America Motor Club) contracted by Good Sam Club that has their own rules. That's when I lay into him explaining that his rules cannot amend the contract I have with Good Sam Club and explain that I began recording our conversations before I got on the line with him because I suspected a bait-and-switch fraud tactic and was collecting evidence which will be turned over to the proper authorities and strongly suggest he discuss this with his chain of command and The Good Sam Club if they want to avoid civil and possible criminal sanctions.

The kicker is that when I finally spoke with the tow truck driver dispatched to tow me, he questioned the notes on the dispatch order about my having a Truck-bed Camper on the back of my truck, and said "Oh, we're not allowed to touch those." REALLY! My Good Sam RV Roadside Assistance/Towing Policy is no good for my RV being attached to my truck? In short, the Good Sam Club Roadside assistance program is as worthless as tits on a bull. Don’t even consider them.

Of course by now the Texas heat is climbing and with my dog and no air conditioner the situation was becoming intolerable. Called back in 2 hours, no resolution, no providers. At this point I started making arrangements myself and found a tow company willing to come out. Didn't take me more than 10 minutes to have a professional on the way. Called Good Sam for the last time at 2.5 hours, they still couldn't find a provider so I told them to cancel the call as I had my own assistance on the way. I would classify Good Sam Roadside Assistance as 100% worthless and will be cancelling my membership. I feel they left me and dog out in a dangerous situation to die. I will not trust them again.

Good Sam Roadside Assistance epically boned us. We had a blowout on I-84 in the middle of nowhere in Oregon. I called them at 1:00pm to request assistance. I then called them five more times asking for help, each time being shined off or having the call dropped. At 3:00pm, I finally did a Google search and found a Les Schwab about 30 miles away. They sent someone to help who arrive in less than an hour. As we were driving to get the tires replaced, I finally got in touch with a Good Sam supervisor at 6:45pm and they could never give me a sufficient explanation as to why they couldn't find anyone. It literally took me five minutes of Googling and calling. We are in the process of firing Good Sam Roadside Assistance, and I've been the phone for the last hour trying to do that and get a refund.

We did as we were instructed and included the receipts ($915). After two months we have not even received a status of our claim. This after speaking to at least 8 different reps in various departments, they ALL promised that would take care of this. They even gave us direct numbers. No messages were returned!! Based on this experience, our advice would be DON'T WASTE your time and MONEY with these people!!

    Original Review: July 27, 2020

Yesterday I got a blowout on a 75 mph highway and had to pull to the shoulder. I did not have a spare because I had a flat the day prior. I called Good Sam RA and the dispatcher took the tire details and told me he would call me back when he found someone. In the meantime, I called a Firestone that was 15 mins down the road, since my husband was following me in his truck, I was going to have him run and get 2 tires. Firestone said they had 2 tires in our size for $335.

When the Good Sam dispatcher called back he said he found someone 15 minutes away and that one (1) tire would be $266 + $155 mounting fee + $9.50 tire stem fee + $10.50 + $27.50 Sales Tax for a total of $469. I immediately told the Good Sam person that I was going to send my husband to buy 2 tires at Firestone for $335 and have them mount tires and so I only needed someone to change the one tire and have the only one for a spare. This dispatcher told me I could not do this because he had already spoken to the tire service. I said, "I thought you just told me that he was not coming out until you called him back about getting the tire?" He just stubbornly said that he couldn't do it that way. So because I was in a dangerous situation with a narrow shoulder, I said ok and had to give my credit card payment before he called back the tire service.

When the tire technician arrived he had 2 tires and I asked him why a tire that MSRP is less than $100 should be charged at $266; he explained that Good Sam was the one charging me that price and he does not set the tire price at all. On the Good Sam website, it actually brags about getting a discounted tire price as part of their awesome benefits. I also asked him why he couldn't just have changed out the tires without us buying a $470 tire. He said he would have gladly done that and would have no problem if we had purchased the Firestone tire, as he had gone to the store on his way to us to pick up the tires he brought out. So a lie by the GS dispatcher and very costly.

Just to add insult to injury, I was still going to stop at Firestone and get a second tire and the Tire Technician said why would I do that because he had brought out a second tire (match to the first tire) and that it was only $185 (including mounting, etc). If this is not proof that I was treated dishonestly! So if the dispatcher had done his job, I would have only been out of pocket for $335 for 2 tires instead of the $655 that I had to pay. I will not renew this plan, I am very unhappy.

We unfortunately experienced a motor home fire while driving in a highway, less than 16 hours on our maiden voyage. I needed to process a claim for towing. I did it online. This was early July. Didn’t hear anything, so called them about a week ago. Lady told me it looked like they needed more information from me and she would have someone reach out to me. Crickets. Called again, same story. Went to social media to basically ask how do you get a call back from customer service. Twitter and Facebook reps said they would have someone contact me. Nothing. I am blown away with the way they ignore my request for assistance and why will they not contact me at all? Why didn’t they call me when they saw they needed more info from me? No email, no mailed letter either. Nothing.

I never thought this would be the kind of experience we would have with this company considering who the owner is and his preaching of keeping customers satisfied. What a sham and probably a scam. I have provided every detail more than once but not one person has rung my phone. Help? Will we ever move forward with this or do they just leave you on pause forever?

If we could rate this no stars we would. You could get your own service faster and cheaper by far doing it yourself and we know. They are profiting in a major way on people’s misfortunes. Camping World should be ashamed for associating themselves with this service and we will not use Camping World as a result. We do not want Good Sam Club to contact us or put their default message on this review. We were stuck on a busy interstate for five hours before we got assistance and we had to repeatedly call back to get updates. At no time did we receive a call or ask if there was anything else they could do for us. They record their calls and not sure why as we knew they were lying to us about finding service as they told us we were in the middle of nowhere and we were only 23 miles out of city of St. Louis. Also they said the delay was due to COVID. Really struggling on how COVID impacts roadside assistance??

This was our second blow out in five miles (we had spare put on by IDOT assistance) and we did not have a spare left. They wanted to charge us $750 for two tires so we opted for one and were charged $450. We then had a third blowout about fifty miles later on the other side and did not call Good Sam and by then it was 9:30 at night and we called a local service who helped us and by 12:30 a.m. the person who helped us guided us to a WalMart lot and came back the next morning to change out our other tire. He only charged us $70 for the service call (we tipped him well).

We only had 10K miles on the tires so we are not sure what happened but definitely not our lucky day but suffice it to say Good Sam Club is not “good”. We were better off financially and timing wise of finding service ourselves and in reading all the reviews shame on us for not looking here first before thinking this is a service that would help you. This is our third RV so not our first rodeo and hope this review saves someone else from similar experience.

We have a 2018 40’ Class A Motorhome, pulling a 20’ aluminum trailer with a side-mounted full-size Harley Davidson & a Jeep. We did have roadside coverage for the MH through our auto insurance, but we were leery of what would actually occur should we ever need a tow. As a result, we decided to get the complete Good Sam package. Fast forward to two weeks ago.... We were driving through CO mountains, on our way to Utah, up from South Texas. We stopped to get fuel in a small town. My husband went to do his routine tie-down check, where he discovered we had (presumably very recently) experienced an explosion of oil — all over the engine bay/compartment, the trailer, his motorcycle, and the front of my Jeep. The oil dipstick was dry.

Called Freightliner, as we were under our warranty period. Freightliner informed us that Cummins actually warranties the engine separately, and not Freightliner, therefore they could not offer us a tow. Called the nearest Cummins dealers, about 95 miles away. Cummins only offers warranty-related towing the 1st year. Additionally, it wasn’t certain that the oil loss would actually be a warrantable issue. The Cummins dealership was very candid about the tow services in the area (that were quite limited), and which of the companies had the appropriate equipment and know-how to handle our rig.

Uugh! Oh, and to complicate matters, we forgot the hitch that fits to the Jeep, plus the Jeep does not have the 7-way electrical, so no way to use the Jeep to tow the trailer. Near-panic mode sets in to have to try to coordinate a complex tow on our own, never having actually having had to utilize the Good Sam service up to this point, and having to see about both the MH, and the loaded trailer.

Called Good Sam. Other than some difficulties actually getting the call to go through/connect (in a reasonable cell service area), and some misrouting, the agent that we received was extremely polite, attentive, and responsive. I explained all of the peculiarities, that we needed to get to the nearest Cummins dealership as we did not know the cause or extent of the oil/engine trouble, that we needed both a large MH in addition to a loaded trailer towed, that the small town we were in did not have adequate service facilities, and that of the available tow services in the small town we were in and the city we needed to get to, only one had the optimal equipment to properly handle our MH without removal of the driveshaft.

The agent noted all of the information, and informed me that she needed to verify the service availabilities and pricing, and that she would call me back, no later than 30”. She was true to her word, and called back with the good news that both the MH and loaded trailer would be towed (requiring two tow rigs) to the Cummins dealership and by the tow company Cummins strongly recommended...all covered by our Good Sam policy. I called back Cummins to update them and to work on getting the trucks dispatched, since the main driver was “on the other side of the mountain towing another MH” and was 2 hours away once he got back with his current call. They informed me that Good Sam had already given them the credit card information and authorization, and that the tow driver had been contacted! A+ Good Sam. Thank you!

I purchased the Platinum Plus package - $219. A LOT of money for service but I wanted a no hassle service that covered all that I would need. My first use of the service was less than stellar. Note - the people with Good Sam (GS) were polite and professional being as helpful as they could. The road service they used called me (I had requested a text because 1. I am 75% deaf and 2. I get huge number of spam calls so don't even try to answer calls from anyone I do not recognize) and immediately wanted to charge me a fee and said it would be 5 HOURS until they showed up. Both of these conditions were unacceptable so I called Good Sam (GS) back.

They got another towing service and this time no fee and would be there in an hour. 2 hours later, I was still waiting. I was told I would get a text from the tow service (which I requested) but I never did. I called GS AGAIN and was told the service called (ignored my request to text only) me but I did not answer. They secured a third service from another town. Charlotte is a fairly large metro area, why did they pull a service from another town? After a time, I got a text message from GS - this time a 5 minute ETA. After considerably more than 5 minutes (don't give an ETA unless you are certain of its accuracy) still no sign of anyone and no text from the service. I did get a text from GS with the tow company number. Another text from GS "Has the service arrived?" NO.

Overall a nightmare to use the service in this instance because of the poor response times of the GS tow service providers. I think GS has good intentions but their providers response time (again in this instance - my first experience with GS) was not great. Finally, the tow service arrived 3.5 hours after my call initial call. That kind of performance (or lack of) should be embarrassing for a company that touts themselves as the best. The tow service did a good job of loading my truck when they finally got there but a 3.5 hours delay seems to me to be excessive.

Good Sam contacted me and expressed their apologies for our ordeal. In order to keep my business, I was offered the Platinum + plan (not offered on the web site) that I had before. This does not have the Wheel and Tire or Trip interruption provisions that the Complete plan has, but it is what I need. This plan is comparable to the AAA Plus plan, but slightly less expensive. They also offered me an extra year for free. I was contacted by the sales team to sign up for the plan for one year. I had to call back after a couple weeks to get my free year. I appreciate them working with me and will give it another try, but I don't know that anything has changed. The website is still the same.

    Original Review: June 17, 2020

My son broke down 40 miles from home with a flat tire in early evening when repair shops were closed. Calling roadside assistance, they did not dispatch a tow vehicle to him for over an hour and did not get the tow vehicle to him for 2 hours. It was 3 hours before he arrived home. On top of this, I had upgraded to the Platinum Complete level from the Platinum Plus level thinking that this new level would include everything in the previous level (as their description on the website "implied"). What I found out is that I lost the ability for 100 miles of towing to home as an option. Due to my oversight and their misleading information it cost us $135 to get the vehicle to a repair facility closer to home. It would have not been practical to leave the vehicle at a repair facility so far from home and have to get back there at a later time.

I contacted the contractor that Good Sam uses for their towing service and they were very friendly and offered to make some allowances for the cost since it took so long. I was told that they would be contacting me within a few days with information on the reimbursement. I have heard nothing. I contacted Good Sam customer service regarding the issue with the plan and also the problem with the roadside assistance. The representative was only there to type up what I said and to tell me how wrong I was about the plan I purchased. They had the incident logged incorrectly and also had a claim on my account for an RV that I do not own.

I cancelled my membership due to the attitude of the service representative and the confusing nature of their plans. With all that said - for an RVer, these are some of the best plans out there. Plans are confusing. There are 7 different brochures for 4 offered plans. Be sure to read each plan thoroughly. The Plan Brochures do not have the same name as the plans offered in the top level of their site.

While returning north from our stay in Florida with our fifth wheel camper, we heard a loud pop and immediately pulled as far off Interstate 95 as possible. We had blown the right front tire on our fifth wheel camper. This is a very busy highway with multiple lanes traveling 70+ mph and we were sitting on the beginning of the exit ramp. I called Roadside Assistance and was connected to a representative who had limited knowledge of the English language. Not only was he unable to understand how dangerous our situation was, he did not communicate effectively just what was to happen.

After 16 minutes of repeating our Good Sam information (with multiple frustrating repetitions from both of us) we were finally told we would get a text very shortly from the service contractor with further instructions. At this point we were very concerned for our safety and called 511 for the State Farm road patrol. He had no problem finding us and arrived arrived in minutes and put up his flashing blinkers to direct traffic around us. What a lifesaver- literally!

After 45 minutes we called Good Sam again and after going through the same painful information exchange again we're told to wait for the text. After another 10 minutes we finally got the text with the number of the service provider and were informed he would be there in 10 minutes. After another 20 minutes I called the service provider and was told that evidently the truck was unable to locate us- at an exit on an interstate with State Farm blinker truck behind us. I find that impossible to believe. The State Farm road patrol volunteered to help change the destroyed tire with our spare and we were on our way. Roadside Assistance is a joke and completely unreliable in Georgia!

Called at 3:07 PM. Received text from Good Sam saying, "Victory Towing estimated an arrive time between 4:55 PM - 5:10PM." Tow truck didn't show up until 8:00 PM. for the 10 minute tow to dealer who arranged to have a diesel mechanic standing by from 5:30 to 6:00. Then parts were to be picked up on Saturday and the repair completed on Saturday. As a result diesel mechanic did not come in on Saturday. Repair didn't commence until Monday; expected finish Tuesday. If done correctly, we could have rented a car for one night to get back to our fifth wheel, 1 hour away from GMC dealer.

As a result of the lateness of Good Sam, we needed to rent the car four additional days, resulting in an extra $240 ($60 per day). Further, on Sunday our campground reservation expired and we had no tow vehicle to remove the fifth wheel. We would have had our own tow vehicle Saturday evening if the disabled truck had arrived at Conley Friday at 5:30. As a result we had to cancel our Sunday and Monday 200 mile away camping reservation and forfeit our $44 deposit. Then we had to scramble for a hard to find reservation for three nights ($29 X 3 nights=$78) near Conley GMC to wait for the tow vehicle repair to be completed Tuesday evening. If it wasn't for Good Sam's delay, we would have not needed to cancel the $44 reservation and pay $78 for a new campground. Further we had to pay a fellow camper $100 cash, no receipt, to transport our fifth wheel to the hastily arranged campsite.

Further adding to the aggravation, Good Sam sent a text at 3:26: “Good Sam Roadside Alerts, Service Provider: Transit Pros LLC B2B For questions/updates on this service, call your provider at: 816-988-2388". We did. They never heard of us. Further the Victory Towing text, referenced above had no phone number. Calls back to 800 947 0770 would not go to a human being. Had Good Sam been upfront, and businesslike, with me at the beginning and say, “It will be 4 ½ hours,” I would have said, “Never mind.” I would have arranged for Conley GMC to perform the 10 minute tow for my $60. I would have borrowed their courtesy car overnight and picked up my fixed truck the next afternoon. No $100 fifth wheel towing fees, no car rental, no lost reservations.

I filed a complaint form. I didn't hear anything back for 2 1/2 weeks. I contacted Good Sam's CEO office. Then I got a response to my complaint. They apologized for their latest lack of communication and offered to reimburse 31% of my expenses. I re-contacted the CEO's office about the insufficient response. But I have gotten no response.

I had just returned from a trip and was turning the trailer to the storage lot. Five minutes from my house I noticed something wasn't right. I discovered a flat tire on the right front tire of the trailer. I called GS Roadside Assistance. I was informed it would be about 2 1/2 hrs before someone would arrive. Forty-five minutes later, I was informed it would take another thirty minutes. After four hours of waiting, I made a call to them and was informed the driver called them 20 minutes earlier and said he declined the job. The phone rep said he would look for someone else. Never received a return call. So I made the decision to drive the trailer back home risking damage to the rim. I am NOT happy! I paid for a service and received nothing. I 'll be finding another provider.

I purchased the most expensive PLATINUM COMPLETE Membership ($239.95/yr regular price, $189.95 during promotional sales) which covers unlimited towing to a shop of choice. When I requested tow I was told by 3 (three) dispatchers my membership is Platinum ($114.95) and in order to get towed 106 miles from highway in Mojave Desert to LA I would have to have at least Platinum Plus membership. I checked my bank records and verified my card was in fact charged $189.95 for Platinum Complete last year for the most comprehensive towing package, not $114.95 as the 3 dispatchers would have me believe if I purchased the cheaper membership.

I was offered a free tow to the nearest parking lot which happened to be an airport. I was told if I want to get towed anywhere else I am on my own. I had to pay the tow truck company $1,135 to get my car towed to the shop. I heard from friends going through the same thing with this company few months ago but assumed they made a mistake. Unfortunately, this company consciously scams people into paying for the most comprehensive coverage, then instructs their dispatchers to tell customers they bought a lesser coverage when tow is needed. I will file a complaint with CA Attorney General and urge others to do the same.

I called for towing service and was told that since the vehicle is by a mechanic shop it would not cover the cost of towing. I would have to pay out of pocket to get it towed to a mechanic of my choice. The mechanic shop that my car was close by was going to charge me an arm and a leg to fix my car. I couldn't afford the price they quoted me and found another mechanic shop with a much more reasonable quote. I had to pay out of pocket to get it towed. I was told that anytime I wanted my car towed to where I wanted it to go I would have to pay out of pocket. I have never had to do this with the other roadside assistance company I was with. I will be cancelling this service and going with another company.

Good Sam Club Roadside assistance 1/5/2020. I have the GSRS Platinum level policy. Heading north on I5 with my Ford F250 towing my 27’ 5th wheel. The truck overheats, and after waiting a while for it to cool, I checked the overflow, and it became a black volcano of oil and coolant. This is where my adventure with Good Sam Roadside Assistance begins (GSRA). Skip the next few paragraphs and skip to the end for the conclusion if you want the short version. I first attempted to use the phone app, but the cell connection was not great, so along the way the app dials an agent for you, so now I begin working with an agent.

The agent was on drugs. Slurring words, hard to understand, he couldn’t find me using the location app, so I worked to explain in words where we were. After 45 minutes, the agent finally seemed to understand where we were, and he was on the case. Four hours later, I’m still on the highway, and the agent is saying “we’re having a hard time finding a place to tow you”. Well, after two hours, I was already doing my own research, and I was finding multiple places that would do the tow (Truck and Rig). In fact, some of the places I was chatting with were called by GSRS. It seems that GSRS didn’t like the quotes they were getting, and chose not to engage. After 5 hours, the GSRS agent was saying “If you can find someone, go ahead, and we’ll reimburse you”. **. I agreed to call them back in the morning, as my wife and I prepared to spend the night right besides I5 with trucks going 75 mph all night. We didn’t sleep well for some reason.

I called in the morning and escalated. After 3 more hours, GSRS said they found someone, and they’d tow the F250 to the garage, but they wanted to tow the 5th wheel to the “nearest safe location”. Like a parking lot or something. WTF! After much effort, I got them to tow the truck and the rig 40 miles to a mechanic, but they insisted the rig towing (to the mechanic) was not covered, and I’d have to pay $300 out of pocket to get the rig towed too. I rolled over, so I could get off the highway. Conclusion, this place is a scam, and ANY towing insurance has to be better. This company should be ashamed. They obviously will not part with a buck easily, and it is institutionalized. Bottom line: Good Sam Roadside Assistance is a scam.

They took all the info and serial numbers etc. and were told everything is covered. We paid for the best plan, Platinum. First time we call to use it, we are told our enclosed trailer is NOT covered. So the double blowout on my trailer is not covered, leaving us stranded on a busy highway ! We spent 30 minutes on the phone with several people from Good Sam, getting the run around and finally told us, "NO your trailer is not covered because it is enclosed?? If it was a motorcycle, or lawn mower, or a boat or a cargo trailer it would be." I asked why an ENCLOSED trailer is not covered but every other kind of trailer is? The lady on the phones advice: I can send you a copy of your policy so you can read and see.

Like I am supposed to do that while broke down on the highway?? Thankfully my husband was able to take care of us. When we got to our destination, we looked at our policy. NOWHERE does it say an enclosed trailer is not covered?? This company is a rip-off. All they do is refer you to another person, until you are too tired to fight. On December 8th of this year my wife and I were traveling pulling our fifth wheel. When a tire went flat we started calling Good Sam Club at about 3. At 5 they called us back and said. "You're on your own." My wife is disabled with neuropathy. I had had a complete hip replacement 4 weeks and 1 day prior to this occurrence. There was no help. I tried to get assistance but no one could help. At about 5 against my wife's wishes I started attempting to change the tire. Sometime after 6 with blood and bruises and torn clothes I finally got it changed. We drove to Ozark Alabama for the night because no one had helped us. We could not get any assistance fixing the tire. The next day I spent hours and finally convinced a truck stop to help me against their company rules.

I called Good Sam service and filed a complaint. They never responded to me although they said they called twice and my phone was out of order. Of course I have been using it each day many times throughout the day tha. I called Dec 20 and talked to not helpful people. One of them was a coordinator who was supposed to be one of the big shots. This person offered me an extended warranty. Having been through all that through that day and the following day all two expenses I told him that I was principled and could not accept his puny offer. I am working to send messages of this account to Washington DC and every other internet social site to blackball Good Sam Club. This was absolutely awful. I couldn't walk. I couldn't drive the truck and they won't send help on a major thoroughfare a few miles down the road from Montgomery Alabama or Dothan Alabama.

However, one day before we were to leave town with our camper, I received a letter from Good Sam stating they did not want to cover us any longer. They were sending a refund for the balance of our contract and this was effective pretty much immediately - in the middle of our trip. Not renewing would have been bad enough but to just say "go away" was inexcusable. We never leave town without a trip to the mechanic to have things checked over. Still, problems do arise and what good is paying for their coverage if you're punished for using it. Good Sam and Camping World will never see another penny from me and I'll be warning off all my camper friends. This is no way to treat people or run a business.

WHY NOT?? Then Shawn the supervisor gets on and, after many put-on-hold moments, announces that I'm not eligible for a tow. It seems they do everything possible to not provide service! Being a member of Good Sam's most of my adult life with only two calls throughout my career, call Good Sam's for roadside service, explain my situation, they told me there was nothing they could do. Excuse me? Nothing they could do. I had to drive my motorhome with no airbags 5 miles per hour to a repair facility hoping not to damage anything else to get it repaired. Then last evening I came out of my restaurant after playing music for 4 hours to find I had a flat tire. Desperately tried to remove the tire but the lug nuts were so tight IT stripped out our Tire Tool. We called Good Sam's. They said that they would contact someone.

The repair facility called us back, told us it was over a two-hour wait and we told them no. We called Good Sam's back. She said we'll have to start a new claim and there was nothing she could do. Keep in mind this is in the second largest city in Southwest Florida and there's nothing she could do. You couldn't find some place that could come out quicker. I would understand it it was a time to 500 people. I will never put another Penny into Good Sam's and I would suggest you don't either. As they used to be a reputable company now that just don't care. As their customer service lady had no empathy at all she said, "That's just the way it is." Goodbye Good Sam's.

When we asked the tow driver about using Good Sam, he replied that he didn't recommend it as they always argue about the details of the bill and are slow pay. AAA only covered our car and not our small utility trailer tow, plus only 100 miles. Our portion of bill was over $900. After the fact we filed a claim with Good Sam. They have agreed to pay us only $100 just as a courtesy. The agent seemed more interested in finding what wasn't covered than being helpful. Platinum Plus covers 10 miles from point A to point B. So we can't tow until they sort out and "review". So we leave RV behind and bus home. Next days we try to tow the RV again. One dispatch guy tells us that he is sending a tow truck. But truck never comes. We wait till late night to hear anything. Next morning we talk to supervisors who acts like he will help but he just talks.

We connect again to dispatch and call back and dispatch guy tells us he already spoke to my son last night and RV, they already towed our RV yesterday. NOT TRUE. They never showed. So we argue about that and get disconnected. We try to call again to tow the RV and this time dispatch takes 2 hours just to get back to us to tell us that they found a tow truck which has an ETA of 60 minutes. So we wait. Tow company finally calls us and tells us that they don't tow RVs. Are all Good Sam Employees out of their mind?

Two years ago we needed assistance after an axle broke on our 5th wheel in Albany, NY. After contacting them many times and sitting on the freeway in the rain for 6 hours, a tow truck driver came back on his own to help us get off the road and to a shop. Good Sam Roadside was no help at all - only frustration. This week, we had a flat on our pickup out in the forest near Grants, NM. Couldn't get the spare tire off the truck.

After being on the phone for two hours with three different Good Sam people, the last one finally told me the tow company that agreed to come out wouldn't because Good Sam wouldn't pay him his price for the tow. She said there is a limit GS would pay and the driver needed more than that because of the location. What??? This is also what the tow truck driver in NY told us two years ago. We do have additional insurance other than Good Sam, called them and within a half hour they had someone on the way to help. Do not waste your money on this insurance. They are no help at all when you need it. PS - Notice that the Good Sam website says their reviews are great. To who?

I have found Good Sam to be a disappointment. Breaking down is no fun but breaking down with a large RV can be especially frustrating. I called this company for a jump start on my 38 foot diesel. The tow truck company sent equipment that could not start a Toyota Corolla. The tow truck driver admitted to me that the appropriate truck was out on a service call and wanted me to tandem with him using my car to help to jump the motorhome. I called good Sam to complain and they argued with me stating that the motorhome had sat too long. I called another company, paid and they jumped it in a few minutes. Unbelievable, spend your money elsewhere.

Updated on 12/06/2019: I was being responded to from Good Sam up until 11/8/2019 when I sent them all the receipts that they asked for. I have not heard anything from them since they said they were reviewing the case. I would love to get this complaint resolved as soon as possible before I take the matter further. Thanks Robert **.

Original Review: On October 23, 2019 I blew 2 tires on the rear of my 39' Class A motorhome. When I called they informed me that my Good Sam had expired. We have been renewing every year since 2007 and they informed me that was for the club and not roadside assistance. Ok it's 930am and I'm broke down along Interstate 95 in Northern VA. No problem. I will pay out of pocket and boy did I. They contacted a company called Boss Shop 2.4 miles away. They finally showed up at 1245pm and informed me they had no jack to lift rear of camper or impact gun and they would be back. Then they left and called Transit Pros that I needed a tow truck to lift the rear of camper so they could change the tires.

Of course by this time it's 2 pm and every time a truck passed by the RV rocked like crazy and it was putting me and my family in extreme danger. Transit pros told me they would get a tow truck company out there. An hour later they called me and informed me it was my responsibility to hire a tow truck. So I called a local company called LL Carter and Son and a nice gentleman named Randy came out and couldn't believe a roadside tire company didn't have the right Jacks. Him and I used a bottle jack to put under the frame and jack the rv up high enough to put my Jacks down on bottom of rv and raise the rear of rv.

I then called transit pros back and told them I was ready for the tire company boss shop to come back and do their job. They finally returned at 445 pm and put my spare on and changed one of the blown tires and put it on. Now I realize my good Sam expired and I wasn't aware but no one should ever be left stranded on the road from 9am to 530pm putting people in danger. Transit pros will not return my calls to explain the 300 dollar discrepancy in their bill and the tire company bill. I was so upset I cancelled my trip and went home. I would definitely tell people not to ever use Transit Pros tire Service or Bosselman Boss Shop in Ruther Glen Va.

We bought a Class C motorhome from Camping World in September, we have used the motorhome 3 times. The third time we used it we were in Greenville Mississippi and the inverter went out. We had no power for most of the coach. We made it back home and took it to a camper dealership to see what was wrong with it. It was the inverter, well the repair department contacted GOOD SAM and tried to get paid, Good Sam told them they will not pay for the repairs.

We purchased a policy where if anything happen to the motorhome from the end of the cab to the back of the coach it would only cost $100.00 to repair or free if we took it to Camping World. Well now we are stuck with a big repair bill for the inverter, the microwave and DVD player that went haywire. As I’m writing this I’m laughing because if there is a response to this it will have my name on the top and the same response most everyone has gotten that I’ve read. This company should be looked into and see how many people they have and continue to scam. All of us that have bought any of their coverages bought for peace of mind and after dealing with them nearly lost ours.

It's pretty much smoke and mirrors. The real coverage is only for motorhomes that are less than 20 years old. You have to pay for any assistance needed other than a jump or very short tow. And God forbid you have to go through 911 because of no cell service! They are not equipped to deal with that kind of breakdown. It seems they don't interface with regular emergency services. I paid for 4 years of platinum service. I just canceled my membership with 2 years left to go, no refund of course. We're going to be getting AAA Plus. Because if you have to call 911, they will get you true roadside help and those providers don't take Good Sam.

Good Sam's Roadside Service has taken money out of my account unauthorized. Twice in one week! Totally $229.95. Customer Service was a nightmare, especially a lady named Charlene. She was unprofessional and wouldn't admit they made a mistake which costed me money in bounced checks, overdraft fees and being penniless for over 10 days! Another person I spoke to was Shane. No help with him either. And they kept putting me on hold for long periods of time. TIME IS MONEY!!!!

    Original Review: Oct. 17, 2019

We had roadside assistance for a year, we bought it in October of 2018. We sold our camper in September of this year. on September 23rd I found a withdrawal from our account for 109.00. I found out that Good Sam's withdrew it without our knowledge. I called them and they said they would refund it. I called them that very evening and spoke with a customer service mgr. named Jason **, he assured me the money would be refunded that evening. It could be 7 days depending on how long it took our bank.

I called them back on 10/3/19 and spoke to Gabriel. I told him the whole story and he said it showed it had been refunded. He said if I did not see it back in my account by the 7th to call him back. Again I waited to no avail, the bank had not seen it. I called on October 8th and spoke with Kiera. She said the same thing, it shows it was put back and she would speak with the office that does the refunds. Said she would call me back, have not heard back from anyone. I believe they are told to say that they see that it has been refunded just to appease the customer. I cannot in good conscience recommend this company. That comes from our personal experience.

I have only been with this company for 3 months and you have to pay a full year or 6months upfront. I was truly excited about all that the company had offered especially since we have trucking business the extended features appeared to be awesome. Long story short My first call to them 3wks after I started my membership we were stranded on the highway in Texas summer heat for almost 5 hours b/c 1. they could not find my membership, number 2. the dispatch rep was extremely rude, inconsiderate, and sounded as if he could care less about his job and then hung up the phone on us when asking to speak with the manager. 6 hours and maybe 4 attempts later to find a contractor our kids & I were towed and drenched in sweat.

My second call for help on 10/14/19 was to have my SUV towed to a shop that's 3 miles from my location. Not only is it 10/16/19 and my truck is still not towed but they have dispatched several contractors who consistently call to say they are on the way and yet my SUV is still on the side of the street waiting to be towed 2 days later (as of today). This has absolutely been to worst decision and experience ever, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. You will not get a refund for the stress and disappointing service they provide, but they are so horrible A REFUND WOULD EVEN HELP OR PLEASE ME!

On 10/08/19 I took my Jayco 5th wheel to the dealer for the yearly warranty inspection. It is about 120 miles one way, a good little drive on nice sunny day. The trip over was great with no problems. They finished the inspection, found a problem with the furnace and they fixed that. So, I was good to go home. On the way back the truck’s diesel engine quit. This was about 4:00PM. There was plenty of sunlight left in the day.

After doing some checking, I called Good Sam Roadside Assistance at 4:23PM. The lady was very pleasant on the phone and asked what my problem was. I told her the engine quit and wouldn’t start. Plenty of fuel and the engine turns over but won’t start. Then she asked me what kind of truck and was I towing a trailer. I told her all this information and included that it was a 5th wheel. They would probably need to send two tow vehicles, one for the truck and one for the 5th wheel. Okay was the answer. She said she would find someone in the area. I was on I10 about 20 miles from Pensacola, FL and 50 miles from Mobile, AL. I figured at the most a couple of hours to get someone there. Was I ever wrong!

After many conversations with Good Sam, Allstate, and a couple of other companies I had never heard of, it was 7:30PM. I was getting a little tired of getting the run around. I called Good Sam back. The call was picked up during a conversation between two answering center employees. They didn’t know I was hearing their conversation. One says to the other about their boss “He could go ** himself.” Then the phone hung up. I called back and mentioned the background conversation. No explanation. I told the guy how long I had been waiting for someone to arrive. He just basically said “That is a shame.” He said he would work on getting someone there.

By 9:30PM I was beside myself and called again. This time I got a hold of a different guy named Sal. He said he would get someone there. Please hold on. After holding for 30 minutes (and phone battery running down), I hung up. He did call back and told me Hook’em wrecker service was on their way and would take about 90 min. So now we are talking about 11:00PM. Then I get a message at 10:00PM. “If I received help, Press 1 for YES and PRESS 2 for NO.” I press 2. Sal comes back on the phone and says, “Well, it’s only been 30 minutes.” That’s when I couldn’t take it anymore. I told him “It’s been since 4:23PM. I want somebody out here now!”

At 11:30PM a tow truck shows up. The truck looks like Cooter’s on the “Dukes of Hazard”. It was an old Chevy 2500, looked like early 90’s. That’s all that showed up! The guy was nice but when I asked if someone else was coming, he said “nope”. It took an hour to hook the 5th wheel back to my dead truck. With the truck and 5th wheel hooked to this wrecker, he towed this combination down I10 at 20mph for about two miles to the rest area. I told the security guard that I need to leave the 5th wheel there overnight because that wrecker was not going to pull my 5th wheel any further. With the 5th wheel parked at the rest area, we headed to a Ford dealer in Foley, AL. We dropped off the truck, my wife picked me up at the Ford dealer and we left at 12:10AM. The next day the truck got fixed and I picked up the 5th Wheel.

Today I called Good Sam. I talked to a supervisor. After getting nowhere with him, I told him thanks for the no help. I called another road assistance company and signed up with them. Long as this is, it is not the complete story of what went on with Good Sam and the other companies I dealt with for over 7 hours. To say I was not pleased with Good Sam is an understatement.

I just finished a 14 hr shift. I was travelling my 60 km commute home. My car became disabled at 5:30 am along a stretch of busy highway. I was between 2 fairly well serviced exits (15 minutes either way), so believed response time would be reasonable. I purchased Good Sam Roadside for just such a contingency. I'm a 56 yr old woman and don't feel comfortable stranded on a highway, particularly in the middle of the night. I immediately initiated service call. I was on hold for over 20 minutes and then customer service rep assured me that he would call service provider and dispatch tow truck with text updates to follow.

6:40am "As your roadside service provider, we'll send automated texts to update you on your request status. Do not reply to updates." 6:45am "We're finding a nearby rescuer. We'll let you know when we assign someone to help you." 6:51am "Sorry for the delay. We're still looking for a rescuer. Help will be provided soon."

My phone was very short on battery with no charging capability. By 8:38am I risked making another long hold time call to Good Sam to see when someone would finally show up. The rep advised that no one was dispatched and she could not explain why. She finally succeeded in sending out a truck. A tow truck arrived at 9:45. A full 4 hours after initiating service call. Cold and scared with no services or sustenance, This was an extremely stressful experience which has shaken my confidence and trust in roadside assistance. Though there was frost last night, if this had occurred during winter months, the outcome may have been much worse. I don't know if I have any routes for recourse or resolve. I would absolutely discourage anyone from relying on Good Sam. I was a loyal CAA /AAA subscriber for years but was drawn to the alleged benefits of Good Sam. Never Again.
