I called to get a tow for my Dodge van at 8am in Arizona. The representative was pleasant. I explained that I needed an 11:30 am pick up and that I already arranged for a mechanic that was approx. 5 miles away. I was not in danger. Dispatch texted me that the request was received. At 11:00 I called to check on the eta and was told they might have someone out to me at 7:30pm. Again, I explained the 11:30 schedule. "We will expedite you and dispatch will get back to you between 30 to 90 minutes."
I called AAA who got someone out to me in 6 minutes! So I canceled Good Sam dispatch and expressed my lack of satisfaction not with the phone staff but with the lack of response. 3 1/2 Hours later Good Sam called me with an urgent request regarding my tow, I listened as the representative told me she was trying to arrange dispatch still for my original request. I told her how I already got a tow from AAA and that I had canceled hours ago. This is the desert! 100 to 118 degrees is typical here in the spring and summer. I could've died waiting if I had been safely off the highway but away from town. To say I am afraid that I cannot rely on "good sam roadside assistance" is putting it lightly.
The issue has been reviewed, and appropriate coaching has been provided to help prevent a similar experience in the future.
While we are grateful an alternative towing solution was secured, we regret that our service did not meet expectations.

I purchased a membership for Good Sam roadside assistance and then later was given a 6-month free membership for RV Camping World. I started getting notices after the six-month period that I needed to renew my membership. No mention that this was for the RV camping package. I went online and renewed, thinking it was my roadside assistance. When I called to cancel this, they refused to refund me even though I paid before the 6-month free package expired. The customer service rep was rude and arrogant. He said I should have called instead of renewed online. I told him I don't have phone access at work. He told me to call on my lunch break! I asked for a manager, and he said there was none available. Terrible customer service for a company that ripped me off and took my money with deceptive marketing.

Whenever we have called, it takes FOREVER for them to dispatch help. On two occasions we had a flat tire. Sat and sat waiting for them. There were qualified places close by, but still we sat. Finally, relied on goodness of strangers. GS is NOT reliable. They won't refund if less than 90 days left on agreement, even when you tell them about their failed service. Glad to be rid of them.

I waited 7 1/2 hours on the side of I-10 in western Arizona for a tow truck, due to a blow out. I made over 25 calls and kept getting different answers, as to why I was still waiting. I spoke with several supervisors that day and followed up with emails to Customer Service Supervisor, Brad ** and Director of Operations, Joseph **. The response I received from them was their acknowledgement of “our team missed the opportunity to clearly communicate these difficulties and set real expectations during your wait.” I was asked to provide receipts for my hotel stay (the tire repair shop was closed by the time I was towed there) and for my tire repair. I then received a email stating that hotel and tire expenses are not covered. I was offered a 100.00 gift card, for my “inconvenience and frustration” which I rejected.
I am requesting that Good Sam reconsider this matter at a higher level of review and provide a more appropriate resolution. The fact that I waited for 7 1/2 hours and the acknowledged failures in communication and escalation and the unsafe situation I was subjected to, needs to be taken more seriously. I hope Good Sam recognizes that roadside assistance is not merely about contract language and exclusions. I purchased this service with the expectation that I would receive competent, timely and professional help during emergencies. In my case, that expectation was not met and Good Sam was a complete failure.
Thank you for sharing your concerns regarding your April 30, 2026 roadside event. We sincerely apologize for the delays and frustration experienced. Your case was thoroughly reviewed, including dispatch records and call history. Due to the remote location and after-hours conditions, delays occurred. While reimbursement is not covered under the membership terms, the previously offered $100 goodwill gift card remains available.

My 35' diesel quit running after gassing up in the middle of California on Hwy 99. Called my Premium Good Sam number who advised me they couldn't locate a tow company on Sunday, so I would have to spend the night, in my coach, at the gas station, and contact them in the morning. I paid another company to tow us 250 miles home. "Good Sam" refuses to pay for their negligence. Good Sam, or bad dream.
Hi Jeffery, thank you for your time and posting. We understand how stressful roadside breakdowns can be. After reviewing your membership, reimbursement was issued up to the full benefit amount available under the current Roadside plan. Service availability can vary by location, vehicle type, and timing, especially for heavy-duty towing. Costs exceeding membership limits remain the member’s responsibility per plan terms. If you would like to chat further, please respond in a PM. Thank you

We have the Platinum membership which states on the website that one of the services provided is "RV windshield and glass replacement specialists". We were recently on our trip when a rocks thrown from a passing truck cracked our windshield in two places. I called Good Sam for recommendations regarding who could replace it in the area in which we are traveling. I was told that Good Sam provides NO assistance on windshields. I said that the website says that they do and was told "no, we don't". They are misrepresenting themselves!

This has been the worst roadside assistance service I’ve experienced. In Texas, they will only tow your vehicle to the nearest repair shop, and any additional requests come at full cost. Additionally, if you use the service more than twice, they may attempt to cancel your membership, claiming excessive use—even if you’ve paid for extra service calls for family members. Based on my experience, I plan to return to AAA, which I have found to be far more reliable and customer-friendly than Good Sam. I would not recommend a service to anyone.
Thank you for your time and a review. We would like to apologize for any confusion and difficulties in using your membership. I would like to review your recent service request. If possible, please send a PM with your membership information. I would like to share this with our leadership team for review and follow up. Thank you again for your time and post.

Very disappointed with Good Sam Roadside Assistance. I attempted to use their service twice on a long trip and after long waits on hold before some finally came on, all they did was tell me everything they COULDN’T DO. One of the times I was out of fuel on the interstate and more than 20 minutes went by before someone answered. Then after putting in my request, two more agents called me and asked me the same questions. I ended up calling a wrecker service for fuel delivery and they were at my location in 10 minutes, and finished the job in less time than that.
I had pulled away when a Good Sam agent called again to ask me the same questions again, and had not even contacted a service yet. Told me it would be at least 30 minutes until whoever would call me back. I told them I had already called someone, the job was complete and I was on my way to my campground. One thing that NEVER takes a while is their wanting my yearly payment and to charge my credit card. Well, there will be no more of those. I will not renew and as a campground host, will tell my guests not to waste their time or money with this service.

I waited 3 hours for a tow and had to leave to pick up my grandson. I watched the updates and it constantly narrowed the time to within 12 minutes and then arriving soon only to find out that the tow truck driver came after 5 p.m. and the owners who let me keep my car at their facility locked it back up and went home. Now I have to pay $170 for a tow now from them? Ridiculous.

I’ve been a customer of this roadside assistance company as a Platinum Complete Member (unlimited) for several years, and until recently, I had little to no need to use the service. Unfortunately, over the past few months, we’ve had legitimate vehicle issues despite spending thousands of dollars trying to fix them. This is exactly why we purchased roadside assistance—to have peace of mind during unexpected breakdowns. Instead of support, however, we were repeatedly met with warnings and threats to cancel our membership each time we requested a tow.
To be clear, we were not abusing the service. These were real breakdowns, and after years of paying into the program with minimal usage, we had more than covered the cost of the assistance we received this year. The experience left us feeling like the service is misrepresented. It’s advertised as a safety net when you need it most, but when we actually needed it, we were treated like a liability instead of a customer. Based on our experience, I would not recommend this company if you are looking for reliable support during genuine vehicle issues.

I was told when I signed up that I had unlimited service, but recently my membership was canceled because I supposedly used it too much I guess 2 times out of this year was too much. I was never informed there was a limit, and I feel misled by the advertising. I would not recommend this service due to the lack of transparency.

Been with Good Sam since 2001and have used their services at times over those 25 years. In the last couple of years, for some reason, we have had to use Good Sam more than we normally did. Things just kept happening, through no fault of our own. Who knew we would throw a rod and crack the engine block? Who knew we would hit debris on the highway and tear a brand new tire to pieces.? We got a warning that our usage was higher than usual, then today, got an email from Good Sam telling us they have cancelled our membership effective immediately. Thanks a bunch. They want your money, but heaven forbid if you ever use the insurance you pay for. We are happily insured with someone else now. Bye, Bye Sam. Just hope we can get a refund for the membership and insurance we renewed for this year.

I have roadside assistance with my car insurance but that’s not great when traveling. I bought GSRA so that when I’m road tripping, all I have to do is call in, state my need, and someone is dispatched. I use the app to track their progress. I’ve needed two jumps and one tow in the last two years. My longest wait was one hour and my shorter wait was five minutes. Each experience was excellent.

This company is bogus. If your car isn’t anything special and/or you don’t care which mechanic works on it, it’s probably OK. But if your car isn’t, drive anything out of the ordinary and your mechanic is more than 5 miles away from where you broke down, you’re screwed. Fast-talking salespeople on the phone make it sound like you’re getting more than you actually are. Good Sam is more like good scam.

I've had Good Sam now for the last seven years. Yesterday was the very first time I had to call to get help. My car slid off the driveway and I was unable to get it out and I needed a tow. I called up. I was put on hold for 5-10 minutes after explaining to the rep I was approximately 100 to 150 feet down my plowed driveway and I just slid off the road a little bit and needed to be pulled out. When she did finally pick up the phone again, she told me that her supervisor said that as much as they'd like to help the tow companies will not allow it. They have hard rules and they're not allowed to go down driveways or off main roads more than 100 feet. She told me she was sorry that I would have to make other arrangements.
To see that I was very dissatisfied is an understatement after paying all these years thinking that I was gonna get good service to have this happen. Totally makes me rethink why I would want to renew. Ended up costing me $175 to have a tow company come out and literally in five minutes put me back on the driveway. I don't remember reading this anywhere in the contract when I purchased it.

When I was camping and broke my leg and called from the ER, Good Sam could not help me because I wasn’t a patient yet. I was put to sleep and had surgery. The last thing I thought of when I woke up was to call. Good Sam. They did not help me get my motorhome home, help me with my dogs, help me get home. It was a complete waste of money. Also, they keep sending me invoices saying my annual dues Need renewed. I went ahead and renewed them in December, which I regret now, and I continually every month receive an invoice saying my annual dues need renewed. They were charged to my credit card in December..
I just called the 800 number and he told me that I started a whole new account and that the one I already have doesn’t expire until March. I stated that I only renewed my dues because I’ve Received this invoice Stating it was due. He said he would cancel my other one that is current until March for me but couldn’t refund the difference. I said it was costing me To be paying twice and his answered to me was, "What else is new. Everything cost money”. Very disappointed in good Sam.

When signing up, I was told that I could call in for unlimited tows, and there wasn’t a limit on mileage. Well, that’s not the case AT ALL. I recently had a breakdown and called them for a tow. I had to pay $175 out of pocket to be towed back to my house (30 miles). Initially, I was told that they were going to tow my car to the nearest repair center and then take me to the nearest hotel! Like, wtf??
Then, I had to wait for close to 3 hrs for a tow truck to arrive in -9 degree weather, at 11:30 pm. I nearly froze to death. If not for a state trooper coming and allowing me to sit in his truck while we waited for the tow truck, I’d possibly be an amputee. Then, when the driver arrived, he didn’t speak English AND got lost, causing me to wait another 30 minutes. Once in the tow truck, I discovered that it reeked of “God’s Herb.” This guy drove me all the way back home WITH HIS WINDOW DOWN in an effort to air out the truck. This was a horrible experience. I will never cheat on AAA again. I will say this, the customer service rep was amazing. She was one of the nicest representatives I’ve ever dealt with. She deserves 5 stars for stellar service.

After hours of unsuccessful attempts at getting the jump, one was scheduled for 11 am the next day. I was repeatedly assured that the service would begin at that time rather than a text chain starting 15 minutes later, but that is what happened. Late rude and barely competent the driver arrived in an unmarked personal vehicle and without the necessary equipment. Much later I did receive my jump so the company refuses to give me my money back. I found what I needed to sign on with AAA, but I still deserve a refund at the very least. How is this ridiculous excuse for an organization still in business?

Not 1-6 calls that would be 1 to 6 calls limited! They expect you to pay $274.75 for a 5 year membership and NEVER use it! Then they send me a warning in Nov. I haven't used my membership since the warning. To Normal person a warning is exactly that a warning! To them a warning is cancelling your membership in Dec. of 5 years the 1st year. This company needs a damn dictionary! They have no idea what UNLIMITED or WARNING means!
NO ONE CAN PREDICT WHEN THEY'RE GOING TO NEED ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE! How many times do we get rd. side assistance & never use it! We don't call them & say, "I never used it. I want a refund!" They get to keep their $$$ for NOTHING! God forbid you need to USE IT! UNLIMITED GOES RIGHT OUT THE WINDOW! And they cancel your membership! Calling them you have to press 1 like 4 times. It's annoying. Before buying a membership get everything in writing! Read fine print. Warning false advertising! They don't know what unlimited or warning means! Get them a dictionary!
