This company is bogus. If your car isn’t anything special and/or you don’t care which mechanic works on it, it’s probably OK. But if your car isn’t, drive anything out of the ordinary and your mechanic is more than 5 miles away from where you broke down, you’re screwed. Fast-talking salespeople on the phone make it sound like you’re getting more than you actually are. Good Sam is more like good scam.

I've had Good Sam now for the last seven years. Yesterday was the very first time I had to call to get help. My car slid off the driveway and I was unable to get it out and I needed a tow. I called up. I was put on hold for 5-10 minutes after explaining to the rep I was approximately 100 to 150 feet down my plowed driveway and I just slid off the road a little bit and needed to be pulled out. When she did finally pick up the phone again, she told me that her supervisor said that as much as they'd like to help the tow companies will not allow it. They have hard rules and they're not allowed to go down driveways or off main roads more than 100 feet. She told me she was sorry that I would have to make other arrangements.

To see that I was very dissatisfied is an understatement after paying all these years thinking that I was gonna get good service to have this happen. Totally makes me rethink why I would want to renew. Ended up costing me $175 to have a tow company come out and literally in five minutes put me back on the driveway. I don't remember reading this anywhere in the contract when I purchased it.

When I was camping and broke my leg and called from the ER, Good Sam could not help me because I wasn’t a patient yet. I was put to sleep and had surgery. The last thing I thought of when I woke up was to call. Good Sam. They did not help me get my motorhome home, help me with my dogs, help me get home. It was a complete waste of money. Also, they keep sending me invoices saying my annual dues Need renewed. I went ahead and renewed them in December, which I regret now, and I continually every month receive an invoice saying my annual dues need renewed. They were charged to my credit card in December..

I just called the 800 number and he told me that I started a whole new account and that the one I already have doesn’t expire until March. I stated that I only renewed my dues because I’ve Received this invoice Stating it was due. He said he would cancel my other one that is current until March for me but couldn’t refund the difference. I said it was costing me To be paying twice and his answered to me was, "What else is new. Everything cost money”. Very disappointed in good Sam.

When signing up, I was told that I could call in for unlimited tows, and there wasn’t a limit on mileage. Well, that’s not the case AT ALL. I recently had a breakdown and called them for a tow. I had to pay $175 out of pocket to be towed back to my house (30 miles). Initially, I was told that they were going to tow my car to the nearest repair center and then take me to the nearest hotel! Like, wtf??

Then, I had to wait for close to 3 hrs for a tow truck to arrive in -9 degree weather, at 11:30 pm. I nearly froze to death. If not for a state trooper coming and allowing me to sit in his truck while we waited for the tow truck, I’d possibly be an amputee. Then, when the driver arrived, he didn’t speak English AND got lost, causing me to wait another 30 minutes. Once in the tow truck, I discovered that it reeked of “God’s Herb.” This guy drove me all the way back home WITH HIS WINDOW DOWN in an effort to air out the truck. This was a horrible experience. I will never cheat on AAA again. I will say this, the customer service rep was amazing. She was one of the nicest representatives I’ve ever dealt with. She deserves 5 stars for stellar service.

As I see it, they bought some of the best advertising money can buy.

After hours of unsuccessful attempts at getting the jump, one was scheduled for 11 am the next day. I was repeatedly assured that the service would begin at that time rather than a text chain starting 15 minutes later, but that is what happened. Late rude and barely competent the driver arrived in an unmarked personal vehicle and without the necessary equipment. Much later I did receive my jump so the company refuses to give me my money back. I found what I needed to sign on with AAA, but I still deserve a refund at the very least. I'm from Fall River Ma. 02724. I purchased a 5 year UNLIMITED membership. To the normal person unlimited means exactly that. UNLIMITED! FALSE ADVERTISING!!!! Not 1-6 calls that would be 1 to 6 calls limited! They expect you to pay $274.75 for a 5 year membership and NEVER use it! Then they send me a warning in Nov. I haven't used my membership since the warning. To Normal person a warning is exactly that a warning! To them a warning is cancelling your membership in Dec. of 5 years the 1st year. This company needs a damn dictionary! They have no idea what UNLIMITED or WARNING means!

NO ONE CAN PREDICT WHEN THEY'RE GOING TO NEED ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE! How many times do we get rd. side assistance & never use it! We don't call them & say, "I never used it. I want a refund!" They get to keep their $$$ for NOTHING! God forbid you need to USE IT! UNLIMITED GOES RIGHT OUT THE WINDOW! And they cancel your membership! Calling them you have to press 1 like 4 times. It's annoying. Before buying a membership get everything in writing! Read fine print. Warning false advertising! They don't know what unlimited or warning means! Get them a dictionary!

I’m not a mechanic and just bought new tires, interesting, but can’t prove I knew or didn’t know and now I have a car that did work that now does not work for $3000. I use to think Good Sam roadside service was a good choice, but not anymore. They now basically want your money on an annual basis and when you have a roadside problem, they get an outside source to repair your RV and then (outside source) they charge you. It happened to me last year. I needed an engine battery replacement, the outside service came and did that, but charged me 383$. When I said that is going to cause me to call Good Sam he said, "Go ahead I don’t care, because Good Sam would say your roadside coverage doesn’t cover batteries."

After having Good Sam Roadside assistance for 21 years, I am 100% convinced it is not worth it--no matter how "good" their price. I've been stranded twice in 21 years with my SUV and trailer, and both times, I was left in a mess and had to arrange help myself. I have learned you are better off putting money aside in a "fund" or bank account--a few dollars a week and let it accumulate for those days when you need a rescue. If you take proper care and maintenance of your vehicle, chances are you'll rarely need it. But here's the deal killer for me: When I signed on with Good Sam decades ago, I was told they would come rescue me no matter where I was. It simply wasn't true.

When I take a gravel road to go camping somewhere with my camping trailer, and I have an engine breakdown, I found out the hard way they won't come! That's where I need rescue the most! If I'm at a state park or forest service camp site, I'm doomed because, as they told me, they won't come on dirt roads. Also, you really don't need them to come jump start a battery or unlock your door. A compact jump station in your car, and a Hide-a-key solve all that. If you know how to change your tire, you're covered. If you don't, have your local shop show you how. Because in my experience, both times I had to argue with the call center on why they wouldn't come rescue me and the first time I was on the phone with them for over an hour! It was a joke.

Truth is folks, all Good Sam is, amounts to just a middle man. You can call the same companies they call, and if you do a Google search of where those companies are in the area you'll be traveling, you can call them directly, vet them on their reviews, and have all that info handy when and if you should need it. When I called Good Sam for help the second time, I ended up with some girl in a foreign country who couldn't speak English and I couldn't understand her. Never did get the tow I needed when I was stranded on a busy highway. Had to call the tow company myself. From the time I first joined, until the present, Good Sam has changed. It's not as good as it used to be and they sell a false sense of security. I felt like they put me through so much red tape on the phone and they did everything to get out of sending the service and I gave up both times.

Locally, I think you're better off having a list of reliable tow companies and mechanics you would trust in your glove box and just call them yourself and draw from your tow fund. Not being able to have them rescue me on remote camping areas, or even highways where I've been stranded was a deal killer for me. Granted, there are people who don't get burned, but the hassles I encounter with their call center are just a joke. I don't need that and it's a waste of precious time while stranded on the shoulder of a busy highway. I won't renew my membership. It's so much better to just call the needed service myself, and they can do everything I need at a reasonable price without any hassle by using a redundant, over glorified middle man. When the day comes I can't change a tire by myself, all my research on roadside services indicates CoachNet is a much better deal.

All Roadside services have bad reviews, so I found the "least worst" of all the ones I researched. All my married children are canceling their memberships as well or letting them lapse. They haven't been impressed either. They all say it's not worth it and have experiences with hassles when they call in. Good Sam sure didn't take care of us. We found we're so much better off without them.

Really wish I could pick a no star 'cause that is what Good Sam deserves. Paid for Good Sam's coverage for years and the one time that I needed them they failed. Motorhome broke down on the side of the road (barely off of the road). Tried calling Good Sam and was unable to get dispatch to answer. Had to call a wrecker service on my own to tow my vehicle and another company to fix my shredded tire. Due to the wrecker service could not tow the motorhome with the tire being replaced. A claim was submitted to Good Sam for reimbursement of what I paid for the towing company. When the claim was submitted Good Sam quickly denied the claim after proof was given to them where the call was attempted to Good Sam and no one answered. After paying over $149.00 a year for Good Sam's coverage and then they refuse to pay out when services are needed.

Good Sam is a rip off and only want to pocket your money and not pay for claims filed. When you sitting on the side of the road in over 90 degree heat with your vehicle barely off of the road you do not have all day to wait and try to make repeated calls to dispatch for a Good Sam person to respond. To which I guess that's what they expect you to do. When we called Good Sam to discuss the denial of the claim the gentleman was very rude. I had AAA for years, and never had issues. I decided to switch companies because my values do not align with what I discovered about AAA’s campaign contributions. I signed up for Good Sam 6 months ago, and tried to use the service for the first time today. Our car is disabled. We were able to make it home, but we need to get it to the mechanic. I worked from home today so I could be available. In total, I was on the phone with a Good Sam dispatcher 4 times today. 6 hours after I first called, I had to cancel the request because the mechanic we were towing to was closing and there is nowhere safe to leave the vehicle after hours.

When I finally cancelled, the dispatcher told me the tow truck driver was “at my location twice today, but was unable to locate the vehicle.” The “location” is my home, and the car is sitting out in the driveway, the only car there, clearly visible from the road 8 ft away. She told me, “He called twice, but you didn’t answer.” I had one missed call on my phone, from New York, while my location is Washington State. I do not answer spam calls while I am working, so no, I would not have answered an out-of-state call. At no point did any tow truck pull into my driveway today, at any time.

Every tow truck driver I have ever had had texted me to give me updates. I have no text message from any driver, advising they were close or saying they were arriving. Now I will have to wait till I can work from home again, and if calling 6 hours beforehand isn’t early enough to get service, I don’t know what time I would have to call. Hands down the WORST experience I have ever had with a tow truck call. I am terribly disillusioned with my very first experience ever with “Good” Sam.

I call to buy the platinum plan, and the Customer service was unknowledgeable. I ask simple questions about the service. He didn't know that plans of service offer by this company, and ending hanging up the phone.

Horrible!! Wife and grand daughter waited on side of road in Katy, Texas for over two hours on 9/28/26. No one showed up to change the flat tire. Had to obtain alternate service. Had just purchased 3 year policy on 9/25/26. I am canceling the policy. Good Sam will not refund any of the payment. GSRA subcontracted with a company named Ozark who has deplorable reviews.

I called this up. What they sounded was to be good to be true. Unlimited miles. Right. I ask for specialty vehicles. I ask will it be told. Will it cost extra. Got told no. I Mede to get my car to a new place. I got a quote for 550 dollar. So I cancel my membership. It to me a false advertisement. Would not recommend.

I would not recommend this company, for an extended service plan. I was lured by the low price, but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. Initially I was aware that, there is separate annual membership fee, in addition to the monthly fee. If you’re considering this company, I would strongly recommend checking with your repair shop first. My dealership does accept their coverage, due to reimbursement issues. It’s a terrible feeling, thinking that you're covered and then trying to find somewhere, that will take a chance on your insurance company

They are not a scam, they are cheaper, can a customer service is 100% better than Triple A. They have unlimited towing. Their customer service went above and beyond, helping me get my car towed when I just had a flat tire and I also have them come and jump start my truck before but the towing, they went above and beyond to get my car towed home. I'm better than any other website assistance I've ever had. The prices is way cheaper than anybody else's, and their services so much better. I would recommend them. I do recommend them, all my friends and family they're awesome.

Horrible! Over $1,000 to replace two RV tires on the side of the interstate AND over seven hours to do it! Does the Sam in Good Sam stand for Samaritan? You failed. Unbelievably disgusting. I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND YOUR SERVICES!
