Buyer Beware - Worst new vehicle experience of my lifetime -Hare Chevrolet sold me a new 2023 Silverado in January of 2023. It soon became clear the infotainment system did not function properly as all sound, regardless of source, cuts out intermittently. This was a known issue at the time (as I found out later), yet I was not provided with that information and therefore unable to make an informed decision regarding the purchase. After filing a case with Chevrolet, I was eventually told that the issue was software related, that a "fix" would be written by Q3 or Q4 of 2023, and that there was nothing Chevrolet was going to do about it.

Fast forward to May of 2024; still no fix. Attempts by Hare Chevrolet to correct the issue have only made it worse. They now refuse to call me back or provide any information as to if, or when, I may anticipate the corrective action. The back seats have now been removed and placed back. The truck dashboard has been pulled apart on numerous occasions. Some trim pieces had to be replaced due to damage caused by the seemingly careless nature of the service, and now most of it looks like it was reinstalled by an unqualified technician. The Hare Chevrolet sales team, the Hare Chevrolet service department, and Chevrolet itself have all failed to provide a standard of service that any consumer would find to be acceptable. Don't walk away from Hare Chevrolet, run.

I’m more annoyed by my Silverado than the past 3 Ram trucks I’ve owned. Can’t believe they don’t have a simple fix for the radio ALWAYS defaulting to SiriusXM. Congrats GM. You lost me over stupid intentional engineering to steer membership to services I don’t want. I will gladly pay more for any truck that is not a DAILY annoyance!

On Easter Sunday March 31, 2024, my girlfriend walked outside to the 2022 Chevy Silverado LT truck and noticed the window was hit. So she ran inside and said to me that we can’t go to church because of the truck window was hit. So I came out and opened my truck door and seen the truck had an electric fire. Keep in mind the truck was turned off from 9 pm sat night until I came out Sunday morning at 7:44 am. Chevy has not called me back as I called the complaint line. Everyone told me to call them and tell them someone needs to look at the fire. The pictures are attached. If anyone has concerns or comments. Email me at **.

In 2021 Bought a new Silverado 1500 RST, Great looking truck and that's where it ends. 2023 One of the Cylinders goes (#4) - vehicle at 60000 miles. One month I was without a truck as GM did not have the parts. 8 months later now 80000 miles, transmission gone, and according to the dealer transmissions are on backorder with GM. That is 2 major engine issues with what I would say is a pretty new truck. Read online and I believe the Silverados have transmission issues, which they don't tell you about. I have owned Ford F-150, Toyota Tundra's and never had any engine issues. Stay away from Chevy

Called Chevrolet customer service because my window would not move up or down properly. The truck has less than 30,000 miles, customer service said that it was just out of warranty but Chevy would probably prorate the repair. I took the truck to Lawerence Chevrolet in Mechanicsburg Pa and they charge over $200 to look at the window and said they would work with chevy to help pay the repair. Neither chevy or Lawrence never contacted me back with repair answer. I took my truck to a repair shop and they said it was a manufacturing flaw in the window construction. First time I purchased a Chevy and they produce inferior products and do not stand behind their vehicles. Lawrence Chevrolet is also a sub-par dealership.

After calling & complaining 1 year later they finally produced 2 of the chips & here I am 16 months later & still no third chip. All along GM has my money that I paid for those options minus the $50 they gave me (BIG DEAL). Since then they built thousands of trucks with all the chips in them. VERY POOR business GM. Chevy trucks have went from very dependable to guaranteed breakdowns. I bought new Chevy trucks in 2011, 2 in 2013 and again in 2016. My 2013 2500 Silverado fell apart at 100,000 miles. Transmission, manifold bolts, radio and cab leaking water. I traded the 2011 at 30,000 and the 2013 1500 Transmission failed at 65,000 miles. 2016 1500 Silverado Transmission failed at 74,000 miles along with radio and other electronics. They make record profits because they build junk to sell consumers. All the transmission shops I talked with said everyone should file class action lawsuits against CHEVROLET.

They rebuild on average of 5 chevy truck transmissions every week. That's every shop every week. I'll never buy their junk again. When I contacted CHEVROLET's home office, they offered me a hundred dollars in chevy dollars to be spent at chevy dealership. What a joke. I turned it down. I hope that anyone who does business in this way fails. My hopes don't matter, karma will bite them in the ** in the end. That what we reap, so shall we sow.

Purchased a brand new 2022 Chevrolet Silverado on April 4th 2023 that is equipped with a 13.4 in display screen that's associated with Google. After the 1 month trail of On Star, various items that were supposed to be included in the $60,000 plus cost of the vehicle stopped working. For example, the navigation would only work with my Iphone connected, and, the "hands free" phone system would not work without a data plan which was offered through On Star and ATT. After I broke down and purchased an ATT data plan, I discovered that you could only download APPS through Google Play which does not have many apps. In my opinion, this constitutes Collusion by forcing you to buy s data plan through a company that GM owns and then restricting the use of it by requiring you to download apps only through Google. General Motors should be ashamed for pairing up with Google or anyone else. Never buy GM products!!

My purchase has come with much regret, and nothing but wishing I could take it back and get my old truck back. First the bed was crooked and it took my dealer 7 months of being on chevy to get it fixed. Then there's the options to be retrofitted at a later date, those do not happen timely... And you'll see new vehicles popping up on the lot with the very parts you're waiting for in them. When you inquire you'll be informed about the "two tier" system, that they will tell you not to worry and they understand. All while the items you're waiting for and have already paid for are being installed in and sold in newer vehicles on the lot.

Nobody that can do anything actually cares as they have your money and you can now go without because they are ready to get someone new to pay for these poorly built and crooked trucks... And it's much easier with your chip, heated seats, heated steering wheel, auto engine stop and fuel control, or parking and lane departure assist. Because again, they've got your money already. So if crooked, poor built, rattling, and missing features are on your list then the new Silverado is your truck!

We bought a new Chevrolet Silverado, 4 months after something went wrong with the computer in the car, the dealership couldn’t find the piece needed, no calls, no reaching out to us to inform us about the car unless we call them over and over, manager was bad, technician was worse. We were without car for two weeks and they didn’t even pay for the rental. I will make sure that every time Someone ask me for Chevrolet I’ll make them run away from them. The only person that was good was the guy that sold the car to us, other than that they are horrible. A new car and already with problems and they didn’t do nothing to help the customer.

I have been a loyal GM customer for years and even worked for them a while. I bought a 2016 Silverado and within the past couple years, I had a water leak from the antenna and the brake light. Good Chevrolet in Renton WA replaced them, but I had to remove the whole interior and carpet to put new carpet pad in it because it reeked of mold and mildew, I had to buy the pad and cut it out to fit as well. I called General Motors headquarters and they never reached back out to me after I talked to someone.

This past summer my air conditioning went out and remind you I live in Washington state and hardly need to use it to begin with, but would be nice to have. The past couple weeks I started getting a shutter from the engine and I did some research and come to find out when the truck was built and sold, that year and model came with the wrong transmission fluid and many people have had the same issue.

Once again I took it to the dealership Good Chevrolet and it was not covered and they wanted to charge me 1000.00 to flush the transmission and replace the fluid and another 1000.00 to fix the condenser on the air conditioning. I couldn't afford it so I had to pass on those and now my truck is sitting in my garage. I had to pay 220.00 just for the diagnosis and couldn't even have either problem fixed.

I called General Motors once again and explained this issue and I was told it was a maintenance issue and they won't take care of it, even though I've brought my truck in for all the oil changes. I only have 47,000 miles on my truck! Now I will be reaching out to all my friends and family to let them know how they treat their customers and hope they don't buy a GM product. I have lost all respect for GM and will be moving to Dodge or Ford. It's sad they will not fix the issues when they know it came from them like that. I don't know when they don't recall some of these things or fix them before more damage happens. Hope people see this and choose another brand. Thanks!

While GM Chevrolet will fix the recall defect free once parts are available, I discovered GM WILL NOT let you know when parts are available NOR provide you with a loaner vehicle. I got notified via letter in August 2021 telling me parts were currently not available, but when they were, my dealer would replace the parts at no charge to me. I was told that when parts are available, I would get another letter asking me to take my vehicle to my dealer for service.

Well 2 weeks ago (end of May 2022) I called my servicing dealer (not the dealership I bought from whom), because I still had not received a letter from GM saying parts were available. My servicing dealer still showed a national backorder, but placed an order for the parts and a couple days ago, the parts came in. I had an appointment today (6/6/2022) to get the parts replaced which turned out to be an all day job, but GM WILL NOT PROVIDE A LOANER VEHICLE FOR RECALL REPAIRS. The vehicle is my only one, so I am without a vehicle until repairs are completed. The dealership doing the work is great and gave me ride home and will pick me up when they are done, but GM Chevrolet IS NOT customer friendly by not keeping customers informed about parts availability nor providing loaner vehicles when needed for all day service work.

I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around this. Forty Years had Chevrolet vehicles but will now recommend and purchase different. Dealership was Al Serra Chevrolet but last year now Mike Maroone. Very very poor communication and customer service when car being repaired. I had just purchase a new 2020 Z71 Silverado in January. Day 1 picking up truck (broken center arm) rest console took multiple trips to dealership. Next week 2nd, 3rd, and 4th trip back to dealership to have my tint package and Weathertech mats installed. Wrong rear floor mat ordered and waited another week. They called. Told me mat was in.

When got to dealership they just handed me the box with the new rear mat and told it was easy and to do myself. Next month a front bumper parking censor popped out. No part available and took 3 weeks. 3 months later squealing noise in driver side front suspension. Said tech heard the noise and would fix. Took in and left for three days. Picked up and drove for camping. Noise still continued. Took in and left. Next day service writer called and said tech could not hear noise. Went to the dealership, took the truck and drove for a bit. Noise present so back to dealership and took Tech for drive. Heard the squealing noise.

Left the truck. Next day called and said had to order parts but truck was drivable so just to come pick up the truck and they will call when part came in. One week parts in. Drove back. Said it should only be a 3 hour repair. 5 hours no call. Went to dealership. Truck still apart . Said should be done tomorrow morning. Cannot fully describe the horrific service department with lack of customer service at Mike Maroone Chevy, Colorado Springs. Also parts are always unavailable from GM.

I bought my truck in 2017. It is a 2015 Slate gray LTZ. Looked over it thoroughly before buying it. It had a couple of dings in the hood but that's it. About a year ago the paint on both rear doors in the same spots started to bubble. I'm sure this is due to contamination on the primer before the outer layer of paint was applied. I called customer service to have them take a look at it. The guy said it was out of warranty. The undercoat was contaminated before painting. What does mileage have to do with a crappy paint job. I'm the second owner, (not the point). Nevertheless they will not take care of their screw up. The customer service agent was a jerk. Nothing I can do due to the mileage says the rep. It would seem like a company should stand behind their product no matter the mileage if it was a screw up on their part. ** Chevrolet your painting department sucks, as well as the customer service department.

2017 Silverado 1500. The wiring that leads to the fuel pump corroded causing the vehicle to fail as I was driving down a busy road. This occurred on January 30, 2020. The vehicle was purchased on January 20, 2017 and had less than 33,000 miles. Dealership calls and says it is not covered under any warranty provided by GM and offers no help in appealing. 10 days outside of the bumper to bumper they say. I call a 1-800 number provided to start the appeal process. Eventually the dealer gets back to me and says, "You get $367 but the cost of repairs was $475."

First, the service through the process was awful, from H&H Chevrolet in Omaha to GM's appeal process. No one listens. The defect in their product existed well before the problem manifested to point of vehicle failure, which was certainly inside my 36 month warranty. I had a GMC Acadia prior to the truck. Trade it in with 60 miles after my 3rd time being stranded and needing a tow in that vehicle. So considering that, this will be the 4th time I have been towed while driving less than 100,000 miles in a GM vehicle. I have grown up with GM trucks, but the 2017 is the last GM vehicle I will ever buy. I highly discourage anyone from buying any GM product. They will leave you stranded at some point. Hopefully it is not 10 days outside the warranty!

I bought the 2018 Silverado 1500 LT brand new with 8 miles on it. Soon after I took delivery, I noticed a substantial vibration which came through the steering wheel and seats when exceeding 60 mph. I thought that it might have been a wheel balance issue so I took it in for service around 3,000 miles. The dealer performed a road-force-balance on the wheels and claimed all was fixed. I drove for another 3,000 miles, few of them on the freeway, but still noticed the same vibration at speeds over 60 mph. I took it back to the dealer and told them that there was something else wrong...don't road-force-balance the wheels. They did the same balance as before with no change.

I took it back 3 days later, got a loaner, and then was informed that not only did they do a balance again, but they replaced the propeller shaft and yoke. They claimed all was well but I immediately took it back out and found that the vibration was the same or worse. The service foreman took me out in the truck and felt it, confirming my concerns. They scheduled me to bring it back for a 4th time and I did. The truck has now been at the dealership for more than 8 weeks with no end in sight. They have replaced the front hubs, performed a front end alignment, replaced the wheels and tires, and are now going to replace the front struts.

To add fuel to the fire, I finally got tired of the run around and called the corporation. I took my case to a Senior Advisor. For the past 8 weeks, they have told me that they don't know how long this could go on and when I requested that GM buy it back, the told me that request was denied. I have no recourse for the request to be reconsidered and I am not able to speak with the people directing what happens to my vehicle. The moral of this story is DON'T BUY GM!

I went back on 9/28 to exchange the truck with one of 2 they had available according to the general manager. When I got there they did not have any white trucks available after telling me that they did. They had a black truck that they said I could exchange with my white truck.

I opted not to take the black truck and they said they would have a shop in my area undercoat the truck. I agreed until I actually realized how excessive the rust was and I notified GM. They told me not to have the truck undercoating performed because it would void any warranties on the truck. Both the dealership and GM finally said that the rust is covered under a service bulletin that doesn’t exist related to the rust on my truck. The only service that is out is related to chassis rust!

Paid over $52k for brand new Silverado 1500 (2017 purchased in October 2016). Within 2 years I started getting "reduced engine power" warning that lead to flashing check engine light. Dealer quoted over $1800 to replace all fuel injectors. Said they were misfiring and didn't know why. They said to contact GM and see if they would help cover the repairs. They said go back to the dealer and ask for "customer experience expert" and ask for a new quote (a lower quote). They checked again and said I actually only need 2 injectors replaced but it was still over $1100.

GM said they'd let me know in 3-4 days if they could assist with the cost of repairs. By this time my truck was already at their shop. Another repair shop quoted me $800 but GM would only cover three repairs if done at the dealer. I guess I was willing to risk the extra $300 in hopes GM would help and I didn't want to wait 4 days to authorize the repairs so I told them to fix it. Long story short... GM didn't help with the cost. I have absolutely babied my truck since I bought it and I'm still paying $800 per month plus an extra $1100 last month to repair a pretty new 2017 Silverado 1500. I have purchased a total of 8 Chevrolet in the last 10 years. I currently own a 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500 z71 LTZ Midnight edition. Transmission went out at 72k. Dealer fixed it and said the sending pump went out to include, had lot of metal in the fluid which they drained and replaced. Truck ran another 70k miles and transmission is out again. Dealer stated that, "I knew a new transmission and would be $6300 total to replace". I asked why Chevrolet would not back their product when it had to be fixed at 72k. They said not covered. I of course like anyone with internet started doing research, found out that Chevy has basically replaced the current transmission several times trying to fix the wide issue they are having with it include the Cadillac's, Tahoe's, Silverado's and etc. Then come to find out the 2014 Chevy Silverado's had a bad vibration traveling speeds between 55-75mph, of course no one could figure out why it vibrated so bad.

I changed the tires twice and rims but could never get the truck to stop shaking. So I traded it in on the 2015 Silverado 1500 Z71 Midnight edition. I have had this vehicle now in the shop for 1 week and 1 day with the Customer service finally calling me (I have called twice a day trying to reach the senior rep. handling my case for 1 week with no response). Note every time I have called in with the case number they tell me my rep will be reaching out to me that day. Well of course nothing. I did receive a call today 8-14-2019 from a rep telling me that my rep will be out today and they will not have an answer for a few days (today Thursday).

So now we are into next week. This is crazy. So, just for the record I have purchased these Chevrolet vehicles in the last 10 years or so: Chevrolet Avalanche (NEW) 2003, Chevrolet Silverado (NEW) 2009, Chevrolet Corvette (USED) 2008, Chevrolet Corvette (USED) 2009. Chevrolet Silverado (NEW) 2012, Chevrolet Silverado (NEW) 2014, Chevrolet Silverado (NEW) 2015, So would this make me a loyal customer to Chevrolet? Bottom line is Chevrolet knows about the transmission problem on this vehicle and many others, to include knew the 2014 Silverado issue.

Basically if Chevrolet does not back their dealer's work or their product and I have to replace the transmission at a cost of $6,300 at the dealership with assuming I will have transmission issues every 70k miles. Then it Chevrolet will lose me as a customer for life! (Note the 2015 Chevy having issues with transmission has never pulled anything nor have I changed anything on it as it's factor through and through, even the tires where replaced with the factor tires, had every oil change, brake fluids, brake pads, rear differential fluid, grease fits, etc.). Slogan changed from "Chevy Runs Deep" becomes "Find New Roads". Well how can anyone "find new roads" with a defective transmission that has had over a dozen superseded transmissions so called fixes? Chevrolet you and I are at the crossroad, which way are you taking? Possible Loyal Customer, hanging in limbo.

Easily customizable, I have added a Line-X spray in bedliner, Flowmaster exhaust with dual outlets and tips, K & N Air Filter, smoked out lenses and some interior touches including a new stereo with Bluetooth and Chevy logo steering wheel cover and rubber floor mats. I purchased a 2015 Silverado LTZ brand new. Since I've owned the truck I've had issues with poor acceleration and with the transmission being jerky. I took it to the same dealer I bought it from hoping they would stand behind their product. Instead they gave me the runaround and told me they could not find anything wrong with it even though it's obvious. The problem continued so I contacted Chevrolet Customer Assistance. They suggested I take it to another dealer. However, they also said nothing was wrong with it. Most likely it was because I was just trying to accelerate in-between shift points and that was causing the lack of acceleration and/or jerky feeling. I did some research, talked to non GM mechanics and a couple friends that own 2015-2016 Silverados. They had all experienced similar issues. I never could get Chevy to admit there was an issue though or take care of the problem. I just learned to live with it.

Since then the AC has now gone out (condenser) and I've had the the brakes lock up at low speeds. If you google these issues you will notice it's a common problem for this year truck. However, Chevy still will not admit these are known issues. Apparently now the truck is no longer under warranty at 72,000 miles and is now my responsibility to cover all repairs. They wanted over a grand to fix the AC and they were unwilling to work with me on a discount for the repair.

Also, told me there was nothing wrong with the brakes and that most likely the problem I was experiencing was because I needed new pads. I've owned several cars and that's not what happens when the pads are low. I left the dealer after paying a $150.00 diagnostic fee and took my truck else where to have it serviced. About 2 weeks after that I got a recall notice in the mail for the brakes. What a surprise, it mentioned the exact problem I was having with the brakes, the problem the dealer had never heard of! It just proves that these are issues that Chevy is aware of. They're just not willing to do anything about it. I've owned several Chevy trucks and SUV's in the past... This will be my last.

Both times I was informed that the dealers could not find any issues that were the basis of my complaint. Well this past weekend out of town the transmission started jumping in and out of gear and then it would no longer engage any longer and I was left broken down 200 miles from home. The dealer is telling me it is no longer under any warranty at 91,000 miles and it will be our responsibility to cover all repairs. If anyone who has a similar experience and is told they can't find an issue please fight the dealer as much as you can because there are certainly issues that I know Chevy is aware of. They just hope to pass the repair bill for the 8 speed issues back to you at a later date.

Our company has a 2016 Silverado with the same transmission and it has been to the shop for 2 new transmissions plus rework 2 different times. Ok. First off, I'm a good barometre, because mine is a company truck, like a free one. Silverado 1500 Z71, off road. 2017. All the options but leather and passenger power seat. So here is the deal... It's not a "truck", it's not designed for "off road". It's a big car with a truck bed in the back. Here are the issues. Ride, wow quiet. Great on the interstate, just like a good old family car should be. Off road? Rough road? A joke. This thing to spite the "off road" logo is as spongy as grandmas 1986 Buick Electra. It is essentially an all wheel drive car. Incapable of not destroying the front bottom air damn at the slightest rough road conditions. It's a 4 bounce suspension off road, incapable of controlling the front end in off road conditions. "You are going too fast" you are saying to yourself. Naa, I'm talking at CRAWLING speed. In short this is not a 4by4 you want to take out anywhere but a paved road with 4" of snow.

The transmission. It's a Joke. Floor this thing it takes 10 seconds to figure out where to shift. "It must be broken" you might say. No we have 5 of them. 2016 to 2018. All the same. Traction control? Literally worthless. My wife's Ford Explorer 2013 is FAR better in slick conditions. I'm not sure Chevy didn't just install a button to make us think it has it. How low to the ground with plastic can a truck get with a bouncy suspension? Not any lower to allow you to be considered to win a lowrider comp. in LA. Joke. Interior? All I will say is sit in a Ford or Dodge the same year and you will know how cheap the Chevy is. Seats are particularly bad. Soft, squishy, no support.

Good things? Once it does shift good power, Dodge will smoke it, Ford about the same in power I would say. It is however, as quiet as the come. Handles great on smooth roads and corners. Mileage right in the middle. Price...here is the really bad part. It is WAY more money than it should be for what you get. Last, if you get a flat, the cheap stainless lug nut covers will be ruined, ya, expect new lug nut after tire replacement because that lug cover will crack and fall off. The truck ain't worth the money. Buy one of the other two...period.

The next day, Monday 11/5/18, the vehicle had full electrical power but wouldn't turn over. Vehicle was towed to the dealership it was purchased from and I was told it was a bad fuel pump which was replaced under warranty. On Wednesday 11/7/18, I was driving my vehicle to work and while on the highway my engine died. I had complete electrical power but no ability to accelerate. Nothing makes you pucker up like cars coming up on you at 70 miles an hour and you can't accelerate. I was able to get to the shoulder of the road where the vehicle wouldn't start.

Vehicle was towed back to the dealership for the second time in a week. I received a call that evening that the Engine Control Module was bad and the vehicle should be repaired on 11/8/18. Who knows how much damage a faulty ECM has done to any other systems. Previous to this vehicle I owned a Toyota 4Runner that I traded in at 10 years old and 170,000 miles. Drove it home and a few days later my driver side wheel area makes this annoying ticking sound every time I make right sharp turns like example pulling in to my parking stall. The ticking sounds gets louder the more you drive it. I have took it to Chevy multiple times. At first they thought it was the hug nut. Nope. That got replaced and still got the ticking sound. Then GMC said Cutter Chevy stripped the inside of my rim where the bolts go and that was a no go. Replaced all 4 rims and she still makes that ticking sound.

The exterior design of the 14 and 15 Silverados is beautiful and reminiscent of the ones made in the mid 80s. The 14 and up trucks are well finished on the inside and use durable materials. They are also very quiet while driving.

My main complaint with the v6 of that year model was that at idle there was a noticeable vibration in the steering wheel. Other than that, it was capable of doing every job that I asked it to. I moved twice with this truck and hauled innumerable trailers and home improvement equipment. I would personally recommend getting the v8 over the v6 as it does run smoother and has more power, but the v6 is a very capable and thrifty engine that was totally reliable while I owned it. I wish GM had not changed the truck's appearance so quickly and I still prefer the 14 and 15 Chevrolet style over the later ones.

It’s always been garaged when not in use. Took it to the local Lithia and it didn’t sound would do much since it’s past 36000 miles. The truck now has 48000. In my opinion since the truck is only three years old it shouldn’t be doing this. Probably won’t by Chevy now again.

This is very poor craftsmanship. Their corrosion warranty in fine detail means it has to be rusted through. What a joke. I understand that these are mass produced but at least take care of the customer within reasonable matter. GM has had nothing but issues with their paint, going off consumer reviews. I have owned these pickups my whole life, and can't believe they don't stand behind their work.

It also was a 1500 series made without carpet which I loved so spills would not be soaked into any carpet. If I had to improve anything it would be to put a better heater button in the truck. I have had mine replaced and it only lasted a few weeks and had stopped working again.

It's a useful work-horse vehicle with a sharp appearance, decent mileage and wonderful technology. The steering controls make it easy to quickly flip through the menu to access information like gas mileage or even phone contacts (when stuck) and it pulls the trailer like a dream. I like the features especially the technology. One minor feature are the dual climate controls which is really great especially when on a long drive! Easy to drive, comfortable, nice looking. Also, my husband is a Chevy man and wouldn't really consider anything else. I really love the backup camera and Bluetooth features! Very accommodating and nice Dealership too. On the downside, I don't care for the stereo system which I find unwieldy to use easily.

Got out of the truck and found brake fluid leaking from underneath. I had the truck towed to a local garage. They found the brake line under the driver side had completely rusted through and also found several more rusted areas in the line. Cost to install new brake lines $472.00 plus a tow bill. Luckily it happened when I wasn’t in traffic. I would have definitely rear ended someone.

I have a 2014 Silverado 1500 LT 4X4 with All Star package. I never had remorse for buying this truck. I saved for years to buy a truck and drove beaters till I saved enough. I wanted this truck when it hit the market and I had enough saved so I got one. I have a bad shake above 65-70 mph that was not apparent during my test drive where highway driving was done and wasn't noticed till I went on a 65 mph highway trying to do 70 mph after purchase. 98% of highways are 55 mph around here. When I have to travel the faster highways here, some days 65 is all I can get and some it will be fine up to 70 and then it can get rather violent. If I have a beverage that is open top like a can, it will spill all over the place at 70 mph if left in cup holder. If 70 mph is what all the traffic is travelling, I can just barely keep up some days and others I seem to be a nuisance to others switching lanes getting around me in slow lane.

I have replaced some items on my own since the dealer states my truck is normal. What a slap in the face huh? I have replaced the wheels, tires and shocks. I have balance beads for a 2500 in my tires now and that has helped. The 2-1 downshift and bump is not gas in tank. It is the transmission downshifting timing being off for the intended stop. Happens a lot in parking lots to me more so than red lights. Feels like I got tapped in rear just before stopping. For the affected, go do it with an almost empty tank on fumes and see how it still happens. When I replaced tires I went with a 33" and air pressure should be higher than door jamb pressure so that's something to consider. Low air pressure in tires was an issue I had since shop used jamb PSI for my tires and it caused a shake of its own, but I figured that out and it got me back to where I was which is no further than before.

Those of you with newer trucks should get a Range device. It keeps truck in V8 with no ill effect or warranty issue since no reprogramming is involved. Just unplug and everything is back to stock. Keeping V4 from happening will likely keep the valve failures at bay and install a catch can cause these 2014+ Silverado trucks are direct injected meaning gas doesn't wash the valves like most detergent gas is advertised to do. The PCV system feeds vapors back to the intake and cokes the valves cause no gas is washing them off. The catch can catches the vapors and they condense into liquid and stay out of intake keeping it cleaner for longer.

Requires periodic dumping, but valves stay cleaner longer. One may fight and say I shouldn't have to do that and I will agree, but not doing it is worse. Those hearing the tick tick tick are hearing the fuel pump. DI fuel pumps run at higher pressures and are noisy. I have tuned mine and made it better and easier to live with. Approx $4k to still have the same shake. This is the first GM truck I have owned. I won't buy another.

Then they say “just keep driving it.” They want the warranty to expire. They never have a loaner vehicle. They have reprogrammed the truck & transmission 4-5 times now. It still shifts really hard. It loses power now under a light load, I have had the mirrors replaced because of condensation, the turbo has went out, the truck pulls hard left & it wasn’t ever duplicated until 30,000 miles & now they are blaming the tires. It’s a total joke dealing with this company. My truck has been in the shop for over 45 days & no one seems to care. My 4 wheel drive has quit working, the gauges I’m told are indicators & I should disregard them unless a light is also on.

GM Engineers diagnosing my truck over the phone is so stupid I can’t even go there. The service department has lied on 5-6 issues. They did not replace the entire engine. You won’t get anywhere with GM, this has been going on for 6 months now. Keep having the same issues. Bottom line is they lack in the customer service department. It’s pathetic you spend $65,000 on a new truck that operates like a used one.

The truck burns oil & they say that the residue around the hydro boost is normal. Adding oil is normal? The ticking in the engine is normal, oil pressure going from 120 to 20 & bouncing around like crazy is normal, transmission problems are normal, so they are basically saying they have corrected the issues or they are normal. The truck did not operate like this when I drove it off the lot, it started about 1500-3000 miles. I have yet to talk to anyone about resolving my dissatisfaction. No one cares. I’m telling you if you’re looking into buying a vehicle from GM you might want to think twice. It’s such a stressful process.

Felt every little bump in the rode. Took into 112 Chevrolet and they told me about a recall that they will do and check out the truck. They had it all day and when I called they told me there is nothing wrong. Operating as designed.

When I picked it up nobody around except the cashier. I contacted the service department and spoke with the advisor Steve who told me that there is nothing to fix unless something is making a noise or broken shock etc. They are not going to just start taking things apart because GM is not going to reimburse them. I am going to have to contact GM. Which I did contact the Vice President via email. Cree from executive office told me she would look into it.

Several days past contact me with a contact number at 112 Chevrolet. Went to voice mail. Left message to no avail. Contacted the service manager at 112 and was told to bring truck in and they will have a service tech take it for a ride with me. Long story short he gave me every excuse under the sun from the roads are bad to maybe it is broken, to his friend has a 100,000 dollar BMW and he feels the bumps in it. We go back to the dealer and he is going to have a senior tech take it for a ride. They all have the same answer. It is operating as designed. Not happy.

I contact Fran the service manager a couple day later and the area service manager is going to take it for a ride but she has no idea when he is coming. Leave the truck all day. He takes it for a ride I think. Guess what? Operating as designed. I said it is not operating as designed because it did not ride that way for the 1st 11,000 miles.

Back to the email to GM executive office who tells me to go to a different dealer. So we have a three way conference call that Cree set up with Atlantic Chevrolet and the woman must have not known that Cree was on the line because she rip me a new one about switching dealership, that I have to go back to the original dealer. I told her that, "GM set this up not me," at which point Cree jumped in and the nasty little woman was still nasty. "Fine. I will make you an appointment."

When she hung up I told Cree this how they handle customers. I did not go to that dealership. I went to Smithtown Chevrolet who did the service maintenance required and told me it rides like every other Silverado. I asked very nicely to drive with the service tech which I did. Took him on a road with bumps and he was like woah something is not right... setup to have the Front struts and rear shocks replaced. Left truck to be fixed and was provided a loaner car. Yes finally something is being done. Picked it up driving home and the truck is still doing the same thing. Now I am totally at wits end. Driving a $40,000.00 something truck that still is not right.

I purchased a 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500 Crew Cab in Feb 2017. From the beginning the engine has had a hesitation at different speeds. The truck has been serviced at the dealership since it was purchased. After complaining several times, I mentioned the issue is all over the internet to the dealer. They then "FOUND" a service bulletin regarding the hesitation. If you complain, they put the truck through some test and if it falls into a certain area, they recommend a transmission fluid flush. Research on the internet shows this doesn't work. This is the 8 cylinder 5.3 engine. Would stay away from the Chevy Silverado.

The truck has 70,600 miles and needs a $4500.00 Camshaft and Lifter replacement. The truck also needed both lower ball joints replaced this summer. No more Chevys for me. I would recommend staying away from them in the future for anyone else. I contacted the corporate office and mentioned that they have had a known problem for years according to the internet. They said that because my warranty is expired. That there is nothing they can do. It's not uncommon in today's world to have engines go over 250,000 miles. I bought my 2015 Ram Sport Hemi with 17,000 miles. I bought it this past Feb and have had problems from day 1. First the ECO system is a pain in the butt, it causes the engine to run rough and sounds terrible when going from the 4cyls to 8cyls during acceleration. The transmission has failed to shift out of 1st gear 3 times. The transmission bangs when stopping between 1st and 2nd gear (not all the time). Sitting at a light I thought someone slammed into the back of me but it was the transmission surging forward. If I had not had my foot on the brake firmly I would have hit the car in front of me. Of course I take it to 2 different dealers and they both say the same thing, either they can't duplicate or it's NORMAL, comes from the factory that way. What's the deal, they think all of America is stupid.

Give me a FREAKIN break, believe me. We are the consumers and we know when we experience a problem, we are not the idiots. And if that's not enough. As of late the windows didn't work a couple times, the door locks have quit and then start back. The sunroof has began to leak. I have not yet been to the dealer for these latest issues yet. Also folks, you gotta remember one thing, when you go to different dealers you will get the same answer because they are all linked together. So the punch in your vin, the truck comes up it was serviced at 6 other dealers and they find the one that services your vehicle for the same issue and they give you the same answer as the other dealer did. That's all they know how to do. They don't know how to fix the problems either or they are trying to save themselves a lot of money on their junk. Good luck to you all, everybody is going to need it.

Purchased brand new 2012 Chevy Silverado LT Z71 with the 5.3 liter engine with 6 speed automatic transmission. The salesman and the dealership (500 Automotive in Clinton, IN) really pushed this drivetrain package stating that it had more power and better mpg rating than the 5.0. It cost a little more but I trusted them and decided to buy it considering that I was planning on keeping it for a long time (I paid twice as much for this truck ($44,000 msrp) than I paid for my first house).

I've experienced the following problems. 1. Oil sending unit replaced. 2. Oil pump replaced (they finally admitted that the oil pump had a known valve sticking problem). 3. Rear main seal repaired. 4. Oil filter leaking at seam. 5. Oil pan gasket replaced. 6. Rear main seal block off plate replaced (casting was porous allowing oil to leak bypassing the gasket sealant). 7. Oil pan replaced (porous metal). 8. Oil consumption problem (burning oil) repaired and replaced two cylinders, pistons, rings etc (dealership informed me that the rings were a poor design). I did a little checking and discovered that this particular problem (Active Fuel Management AFM) is part of a class action lawsuit. 9. Oil pan leak again. They replaced the sealant (gasket).

In GMs defense they have made all repairs so far under original warranty or the 12 month 12,000 mile warranty they issued after rear main seal work. Problems 3 thru 9 have occurred in an 9 month time period and around 8,000 mile window. Truck has 63,000 miles. Here's my issue with GM. They won't admit when they are wrong. The dealership sold me the truck under false pretenses. They knew there was a problem with the 5.3 liter leaking and consuming oil (GM was aware of the problem since its inception but they just kept making them - they finally redesigned the 2013 model year).

I know the problem is not fixed and as soon as the extra warranty expires in 2 months I'm sure they'll tell me the rear main seal is leaking again. I hope anyone that reads this and has experienced the same problems will comment and share any suggestions. I know the problem is not fixed because they would have fixed it by now. Poor design and poor quality control-castings are subpar because of impurities. If anyone has been successful at suing these corporate bailout recipients please let me know. Thanks for listening to me complain.

Have had numerous things go wrong with this truck but the latest 2 were not covered under warranty and ended up having to come out of pocket to have them fixed. The 1st thing in the last few months was the (ECM) Electronic Control Module for the air-conditioning. It quit and the whole AC system went black. No control whatsoever. That was $500.00 to fix now. The AC lines that go into compressor cracked leaked all the Freon out. That was another $500.00 to fix all within 3 months of each other. The bad part was that I called Chevrolet to see if they would help me out on the cracked lines 5 times. Service Request number ** Senior Advisor Mr. **. He never called back nor emailed me for 4 weeks.

So I called back today asking for an answer and they said there was nothing they could do. Still did not get Mr. ** on the Phone. Very sorry customer support. I really would not be that upset but $1000.00 within 3 months and I am making a $500.00 a month payment on a practically brand new truck that is drove on highway every day and only has 45,000 miles on it. The mechanic at Spartanburg Chevrolet said that this is a known issue about the cracked lines and they repair anywhere from 5 to 10 trucks a month for this issue with a special bracket that Chevrolet engineers have designed to fix this known problem. Guys I think when you have a known engineering defect it ought to be considered a recall and fixed for free instead of pissing off customers. This is my first Chevy and it may very well be my last.

DO NO BUY A CHEVROLET SILVERADO! My story begins with finally selling my 1989 K5 Blazer that I had driven daily for over 15 years with no issues. I finally decided to upgrade to a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Z71 5.3 L V8 with an MSRP of over $44k. I've been a loyal GM customer since the age of 16 and have owned 14 GM vehicles throughout my many years of driving. At first the truck was fine. It was comfortable and had a lot of upgraded tech options I was not accustomed to.

At about 7,500 miles I began to notice a strange drone when in the V4 mode. I did some research and discovered the truck is equipped with an "active fuel management" system in which four cylinders deactivate when at cruising speeds to save fuel. I brought it to the dealership's attention (Ciocca Chevrolet Quakertown) and was told they couldn't duplicate it. It continued to get worse and a vibration became so noticeable in all modes even my passengers would ask what that was? I didn't know but my pedals, steering wheel, and cab was vibrating!

I took it back three more times to Ciocca Chevy. At one visit a tech rode with me and admitted this is a problem with many GM vehicles equipped with the AFM system. I was also advised there was a GM bulletin to fix the problem and odd repairs were done (such as the entire exhaust was replaced, a part of the fuel system was replaced). Thinking this shouldn't happen to a new truck that cost me a fortune I called the GM customer service center and spoke with a Mark. His demeanor was very odd. It was like talking to a wall. It was as if this wasn't something they wanted to even hear about and I was basically dismissed.

I did try to see if Ciocca would work with me and trade it for a different truck but was pretty much told my monthly payment would double and I would be taking a huge loss.

I then took my truck to a different dealership after Ciocca told me there's nothing they can do and didn't want to see it again. Chevy 21 was very professional and did state there was a new GM bulletin in which an exhaust hanger weight was added to the exhaust and the cab mounts may be loose and would be retightened. Repairs were completed but the problem persisted. I then attempted to try a local GMC dealer as a friend had similar problems with his 2016 GMC Sierra. That dealership ended up taking his truck back under the PA Lemon Law. I was advised there was little they could do because I didn't purchase the vehicle from them and it's a Chevy not a GMC.

I have now sought legal help and have begun a Lemon Law claim as well. Thus far this has been a terrible experience with Ciocca Chevrolet and GM. They've lost a GM customer that's for sure once I get rid of this truck. My advice do your research and buy wisely. I'm now aware of the term "Chevy Shake" as many owners are complaining about this issue. GM has let me down. At this point I've changed my mind about the bailouts. We should have let them fail instead of allowing them to produce poor quality products.

I bought my 2013 Chevy silverado 1500 z71 extended cab at the end of 2013. The truck only got 12mpg hwy and 8 to 10 mpg city. The dealer said it needs to break in but it never got better. At 20 000km I went to the local pizza place had lunch then went to leave and the ignition would not turn when I put the key in so truck had to be towed. Truck was less than a year old. I then was out of my truck for five weeks while it sat at the dealer waiting for a new steering column and dealer would not give me a loaner. I had to go and buy a used $3000 truck to drive while mine was being fixed so that I had something to drive. So I finally get the truck back and about 10 000 km later the truck almost burns to the ground when a transmissionline let go on the hwy. Again had to be towed.

Couple days later I could hear a small rattle so I took it back to the dealer. They kept it for a day. Said they could find nothing wrong and wanted me to pay $480 in labor to diagnose it. Then later that week that noise was getting worse so me and my temper speed back to the dealer. I then skidded to a halt in front of the dealer doors left my drivers door open stormed into the the service department. After making the tech that was looking at my truck feel an inch tall I made him come for a ride. Turned out that the u bolts holding the differential to the leaf springs came loose and the u bolts were making the weird noise as they were almost to fall off. WTF Chevy.

I then noticed when I was doing oil changes that lots of new oil would go into the motor but not much would come out. I then called the dealer told them this thing is burning a ** load oil so I started getting them to do my oil changes and they kept track after about 5 oil changes about 20 000km they replaced the motor with a new one. After all that I was thinking okay what else can go wrong. Well at 57 000km on the clock I was doing 110km down the hwy and next thing I know I'm sideways and skidded to a stop once the rear end locked up. It did a ton of damage. After fighting with Chevy they flipped the bill and put a whole new dif transfercase driveshaft and transmission. They called me when it was done. I said I don't want the truck back. I'm not picking it back up. Then they asked have you checked out these new Chevies. I said ** no and I'm not buying one.

To prove a point I let the truck sit at the dealer for 8 months. One because of all the problems and because I was fighting with GM cause of how the paint was falling off the truck and how it was getting small outward facing sharp little dings all over the place causing paint to peel. GM basically said screw you to me. I then trailered the truck home pulled the plates off it. Dumped it off for nothin. I now drive a 2017 Tundra 5.7 DC TRD. This thing would drag the frame out from under that chevy 5.3 and I can get 17mpg with this 5.7 unlike the 12mpg underpowered 5.3. My uncle bought a 2017 GMC when I bought my Tundra. So far his air conditioning pump has went out. He has lost a fuel pump. He had to have it towed in when it decided it didn't want to come out of park. As for me I have yet to have any problems with my Tundra. Don't buy Chevy or GMC they are JUNK.

It is involved in the Takata air bag recall but as long as my grandchildren don't ride in the passenger seat I am not too worried. The '16 is a 2500 HD with a 6.0L V8... Now this truck is a beast. My husband is a mechanic and we work this truck and with regular maintenance and oil changes have had no problems. Please need to realize brake lines carry a corrosive material and with time and age it affects these lines. So many times people wait until it's too late to service a vehicle or make repairs. That only drives the cost up more. I am having an issue with my '15 when it switches from V8 mode to V4 (for fuel economy) but the dealership is taking care of the problems.

When I first got my truck 2016 Double Cab 4WD, I had pulled off to the shoulder of the road to prepare to make a U-turn. When traffic cleared I proceeded to do so and the front end started hopping like it was in 4WD. My husband was with me. He asked if I had in 4WD. I said no, so after I turn I pull off the shoulder on the other side of the road pull up, stopped and put in reverse and the rear end made a big clunk noise. Again wondering what the heck! I let it go, then every time I would back out of my driveway it would hop. So then I notice that the front right tire and left rear tire have tread gouged in the center of them.

So I call Kipo Chevy in Ransomville, NY and they bring me in and tell me that the tire were damaged from the hauler when it was delivered to the dealership, and that the reason my truck was hopping was because I had mud in the differential!!! My husband about lost his mind!!! So they replace the two tires, I ask that they put the new ones on the back of the truck, so they did.

One day I had to go somewhere and missed my turn so I had to make a U-turn. This time my right rear tire was in some soft like dirt stone, and all other tires were on dry pavement. It literally was not even an inch of crap I was in (I took pictures), it would not walk out of it, so I put it in 4WD Auto to walk it out of it, I stop turn it back to 2WD and then pull ahead while I was waiting for traffic to clear to make my turn. So traffic cleared, I make my turn and halfway through my turn the left rear tire locks up and I'm dragging the rear end of the truck in my turn. I had marks all on the rear left tire like it was riding on the face of the tire, almost as if the tire was bent over.

So I finally had enough of this crap, call Kipo Chevy in Ransomville, NY, and they say no codes could be found and they couldn't duplicate the problem. THEY NEVER DROVE THE TRUCK!! Had the same miles it came in with on it when I picked it up! Okay so with all this smoke being blown up my butt, I call Corporate GM to talk to someone. I get a girl named Kayla, told her the whole spiel and she calls Kipo and they want nothing to do with this truck, so I go to David Chevy in Niagara Falls, told them everything that happened. They had it for a week and tell me no codes can be found, they can't find anything wrong and the left rear tire was normal, they never drove it!! Mind you no codes or warning lights came on for any of the hopping or wheel locking up at all, this happens intermittently.

So I pick it up and on my way home I get a call from GM Kayla and as I was driving I missed my turn and sure enough the damn thing starts hopping in my U-turn. So she says take it back to the dealership, took it back the next day, told them again about everything and their tech said it sounds like the 4WD is kicking in on its own. So they run with that, the tech drove it home, they call me a day later to tell me no codes were found and the tech could not duplicate the problem. So it has been to the GM dealership 5 times for this issue and still no resolution. Now I noticed that my cruise control will go down 1 MPH going uphill and gain 2 MPH going downhill. I always thought that it was suppose to keep a constant speed?! So I taped this problem so I have proof it's doing it. You know in case no codes pop up for the techs!!!

I am very disappointed with this truck!! Thank God it's a lease and it will be gone in 2 years. I was told by Kayla that this is a safety concern. I said, "Yes I know, I have two young boys who ride in this truck and they were scared when it locked up, especially doing it on a road that is two way traffic and 55 MPH." I think this truck has frame damage from when it was taken off the hauler, how else would opposite front tire and opposite rear tire get the same damage? Oh yeah forgot that David Chevy said the alignment was off in the front quite a bit so they had to adjust it!!!

I should have known there was a problem from my first oil change. Just before 5000 miles my low oil light came on. I took it to Chevy and they stated that since it did not burn 1qt per 1000 miles they consider that normal. I couldn't believe it. If I wanted a car that consumed oil I would have bought something a lot cheaper and older. I wanted something that would be reliable for the next couple years.

Fast forward to 52,000 miles, still have the oil problem and now my fuel injectors are going bad. WTF. I would consider this an almost new truck. After some research it appears that it has happen to a lot of people ranging in mileage from 500 miles on up. Chevy says since it is not a recall issue and it is out of warranty. I am stuck. Then I remember my bumper to bumper warranty with Prestige. So I try to make a claim. But because the injectors are clogged it is not covered.

Seriously. It is a documented problem of a poor design. Their response is I should have changed the fuel filter or maybe I got bad gas. Seriously? It is not like I live in a third world country. I live in southern California. Chevy corporate was no help as well. They took my info in case something comes up in the future. This will be the last Chevy product I buy and since RSM Ford and their expensive warranty are no help I will not be supporting them in the future. Buyer beware!

I have at the moment 04 2500hd 4X4 crew cab with a Duramax, 99 1500 ext cab 4X4 5.3, 98 GMC Sonoma 4X4 ext cab and a 87 1 ton 2 wheel drive Dually. GM knows of problems and with thousands of others that are having or had the same problems. We just had a bit of a snow storm and I live in a area that doesnt have the best winter maintained roads. As it stands right now I own all 2 wheel drive trucks. The 04 had me stuck last night on a plowed road as the transfer case popped 3 times then stopped working altogether. I called for help and the 99 4X4 manual 4X4 decided its not going to work.

I went to leave with the Sonoma tonight and slid 1/2 way down the mountain I live on to find that the 4X4 doesnt work as well. I'm done with GM and their junk. I bought 4X4 because I needed it not because I enjoy walking in windy freezing weather. The 2 wheel drive truck was bought for summer towing and stopped running because of a temp sensor. Come on GM. What are you doing? I fixed the old 87 by getting rid of that un-needed computer and ended up with some mussel as the truck was being held back with the throttle body injection. Now the 454 has what it was - missing power. I'm done being robbed of my money to these people who don't care. GM broke me. I'm out of funds. People I'm giving warning. I bought a brand new Chevy Silverado 1500 LT in December of 2012. I currently have 97,000 miles. At 66,000 miles I needed a full transmission replaced. Covered at no charge and has a new 100,000 mile warranty, but makes me wonder how long this one will last. My stock radio has a short with the auxiliary jack and constantly cuts out thinking a device is connected. My rear passenger window control has an issue. From the passenger door it sometimes won't roll up and has to be rolled up from the driver controls. The latest... the driver side interior door handle broke off in my hand. Not just the handle but the arm connecting the handle to the door broke. $430 (part only) for a whole new panel because that is Chevy's only fix. Guess I should have paid for the extended bumper to bumper warranty, but at over $30,000 for a brand new vehicle I thought the quality would have been better.

I bought a brand new 2017 Chevy Silverado about a month ago. The day after I bought it I noticed a slight miss or hesitation when lightly accelerating. I took it back to have them look at it and they went for a drive with me. He tried to tell me all kinds of stuff like it was still learning how I drive. After two visits I made another appt. for them to get it in the shop. They called later that evening after having it for a day that GM is aware of the problem but they don't know what it is or how to fix it but if anything changed they would let me know. So that tells me they knew about the problem before they sold it to me and are still selling to customers.

I went in today and talked my salesman who sent me back to shop manager who went for another ride with me. He said GM has been getting lots of complaints about it but they don't know yet how to fix or what it is (same thing they told me before). So now I don't know what to do. Seems unfair to me and they shouldn't still be selling them when they know they have a problem.

The new 2017 1 ton Chevy diesel has an opening in the front bumper area that allows any bird or stone or whatever to puncture a large hole in the transmission oil cooler. Oops $$$. This is a large 5"x15" hole that is just waiting for something to happen. It definitely needs a grill or mesh of some sort over it. Also, the DEF fluid filler tube is stuffed up against the passenger side firewall with a crossmember support pipe running across the top of it. Only enough room for a 1 quart bottle and DEF fluid is only sold in 1 and 2 1/2 gallon jugs. Since DEF fluid is corrosive, this is a bad system. The two problems look like some of Ford's better ideas.

You can do better than this chevrolet. Come on, clean up your act. I have been a new Chevrolet owner since 1972. You disappoint me. Both of these items are grounds for recalls. The rest of the truck (1 ton crew dually 4x4 new duramax allison tranny silverado HD) is a beautiful running truck. Only 500 miles on it already. My last two crew duallies 4x4 were 454 gassers. I told the dealer about it and they said "come back at 5000 miles." So at 5000 miles I came back. By this time it was worse. They told me they couldn't feel it or find anything wrong with the truck. Hello, I been browsing through the reviews and complaints about the new Chevy Silverado 1500. I own a new 2016 Chevy Silverado 1500 2WD Double Cab,

All-Black, Rally Edition, 5.3L truck. Some of the negative reviews I experience when I first started driving my truck but after awhile they went away. Consumers have to realize when they buy a new truck from a dealership it have to be broken in first. Broken in means buy a truck for truck purposes, like hauling, towing, moving heavy objects, etc. New vehicles are not designed to drive only on the weekends, just on Sundays for church, or special occasion when you feel like bringing it out the garage or driveway. You have to actually drive these new vehicles on a daily basis. If not you will have mechanical problems.

Yes I witness a slight vibration, a sluggish power gain while or during acceleration, a bumpy drive, and etc. When the trucks comes from the factory they are new, very stiff, and bolted down and compressed tight. You have to drive and carry loads with your truck to loosen up the suspension. By doing this it will stop the vibration or bumpy ride. You will gain the full comfort in your suspension after breaking it in.

If you like sound and horsepower I would highly recommend adding a Flowmaster Dual Exhaust System and a Banks Power Cold Air Intake System for your truck to feel its max performance while driving. I love my truck and I've owned GM vehicles for over 20 years. I'm also a automotive mechanic supervisor and been working in a major repair shop level for over 19 years. I bought my Chevy Silverado because I wanted a truck. If I wanted a luxury, smooth ride I would of bought me a new Cadillac. Have a nice day and hope this was helpful.

So they "tightened" it and it seemed to be functioning okay. Then just a couple days ago it became loose again. This time they said the problem was with the "linkage" in the door panel. And it would cost approximately $600 to get the door panel assembly replaced. Apparently Chevrolet is aware of this reoccurring problem and multiple requests have been made for a recall but they would rather earn profit by selling door assemblies. I have changed the tires & brakes of course before 100,000 miles but I have done little else except change the oil and exhaust system due to rusting from road salt applied by the local jurisdiction during snow and ice, which don't get much of but when it sounds like it's coming they load it on.

Also, I did one bumper to bumper lubrication check & fill on the truck. I'm getting ready to put new engine belts and hoses on it just because I don't want to wait for them to go out. The only complaint I have is that the fog lights at the lower section of the front bumper keep going out, which again I think is because of the road salt. The shocks are about due to. With heated leather seats and a great sound system you couldn't make me trade it for anything but a new Silverado.

The vehicle also has shifting issues mostly between 2nd and 3rd gears into acceleration. The dealer made a lot of excuses and kept the vehicle an extended amount of time to diagnose the problems with no fix for the vibration. The transmission and suspension definitely have design issues on the 2015 models.

After a long trip, the oil light came on saying low oil. Dealer changed the oil but could not explain why the vehicle was burning oil. Take total control of it by keeping it in manual 5 around town which keeps it from going into drop 4 cylinder mode and allows you to drive up to 50 mph without burning a lot of extra fuel.

Buy yourself a Range, plug it in for highway use only. Got a cold air intake and cut back duel exhaust - wow what a difference, well worth the money. Truck is way fun to drive. Am very impressed with the performance now. 5.3. Dropping 4 cylinders causes a lot of problems like oil disappearing. GM has no clue where it goes. l think that maybe the reason for rough idle maybe fouling spark plugs seems like my truck is doing so much better now. Seems like when slowing down and tranny gets between 3rd to 2nd gear giving it gas before the gear grabs causes the bang - just wait for the gear to grab and you can make that problem go away also. As far as I'm concerned it's been a great truck, never done me wrong. Just as the ones before it from GM, we did have a problematic GMC Sierra but never had a bad Duramax Silverado. But this review is specifically about my current 2013, which has run great from the beginning. Now it's at the 87000km mark, a great portion of which has been spent towing a heavy trailer on rough gravel, which it does with competence. I know 87000 is relatively low... But I really can't see it going south on me in the future. And if it does, I will be doing a much different review.

My only gripes so far are the def fluid which is just a pain and as I've heard gives worse mileage. And I have the feeling it will have a conniption and screw up one day, it's bound to happen to me in the middle of nowhere and I'll be derated. This has happened to me with the one GMC Sierra 3500 Duramax that I mentioned earlier and I know it's happened to friends in the past with their Silverado's. Also it's the loudest GM I've even owned, a LOT of wind noise. Being that much wind noise I'd think it's got a poorly sealed cabin but it doesn't seem to have any water leakage around door and window seals so who knows... It was annoying at first but I got use to it.

Something else is the engine exhaust break that was a new feature in 2013, it doesn't work as well as I think it should - mostly it doesn't work at all in manual mode where I down shift on hills with a heavy load on, but it works quite well in automatic if you just wait and let the truck figure it out it comes on, eventually... But it takes its time. And the most current problem, which actually is a problem, a fault in the built in trailer brake control module. Even though I have no trailer plugged in it still is coming up with the message "Service trailer brake system." It's coming up so often it has actually become annoying. It's a false computer code that I'll have to get fixed. But it's no big deal when in comparison to how good it's been. That's it, good experience and no real complaints.

Now with 19,000 miles on it, it getting consistent and I am getting the runaround - they are saying it is injector noise. Not what other dealers are saying it is - when they off me 5k off of what KBB says it should be worth. Very Frustrating.

If it's known they should know how to fix it and fix it no matter how many miles are on it. But it seems like they don't have a clue.

Was pulling a small two axle 27' travel trailer through Indianapolis in cruise control at 55 mph when I heard what sounded like the engine was laughing so I took it out of cruise and that's when all hell broke lose. The engine started hammering very loudly. I knew immediately that it was done. As stated before never any problems. Write GM about problems and basically told "Sorry out of warranty." Now the second one is starting to making knocking noises at 107,000. I will never purchase another GM product again and I caution others. I purchased my new Chevy Silverado 1500 LT on February 25, 2916 and after one week of owning the truck it developed a small vibration and went to the shop for repair. They did a road force balance on the tires which made the vibration worse. So, back to the shop it went. Another tire balance and it didn't help. It went back to the shop for the third time and I was told there is nothing wrong with the truck. The service manager was very nice but told me he knows the truck has a vibration but there is nothing he can do to fix it. He said GM has problems. They know it but have not offered a fix. He said I would have to live with because that's what Chevy trucks do. Then he informed me of other problems, which I had noticed on a small scale. Problems with the transmission and electronics. My problem with GM is obvious, and I will never buy another GM product.

My problem with the dealer is they knew about the problems with the 2916 trucks and did not inform me of what to expect. They took my money knowing these trucks had problems. This is the fourth and last vehicle I have purchased from them. I traded the truck after only 2200 mile for a Dodge Ram, which I love! DON'T BUY A CHEVY SILVERADO.

So far I have brought the truck in for service twice. The truck vibrates excessively at idle and transmission shifts erratically when accelerating from a full stop or changing lanes. Was told that GM was redesigning the motor mounts to correct the vibration issue. As for the transmission was told this is "normal" (Definitely not normal)!!!

The dealership installed shims on the existing motor mounts to "try" and correct the vibration. The vibration and transmission problems still exist. I am very dissatisfied with the vehicle and the fact that GM can't seem to find a solution to correct this very common problem. I traded in a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado with a very similar chrome trim package that did not have this amount of deterioration after 7 years and 150,000 miles, that had been driven in the same "environment". GM states that your vehicle will stop if one of your brake lines fail. This is not the case! I parked my 2004 Silverado at work in the morning without any symptoms of a brake line leaking. When I left work that day, I started my vehicle, placed my foot on the brake pedal and it went to the floor. I had other vehicles that developed failing brake lines. They had dual master cylinders which allowed the vehicle to be driven to a place to be serviced. This was not the case with my 2004 Silverado.

As I left my parking space, I realized that I could go no faster than 5 or 10 miles per hour in order for my truck to slowly come to a stop. Once I finally came to a stop, I needed to place the transmission in neutral so it would not drift forward. My vehicle was then towed to a service center. Had this happened at a higher rate of speed, I would most definitely have been involved in an accident. Not all cars with hydraulic brake systems have the problem of losing their brakes completely. Why does GM?

Benning and I work in Florida I took it to the nearest Chevy dealership in Fort Walton, FL. The truck was vibrating in idle and the transmission slips gear during breaking and accelerating. I took it in for repair and when I got it back it did the same thing. I know the dealership had worked on it, because I saw them worked on it.

I called GM and I was pretty much told to bring it in for more repair. When I asked GM rep if they are willing to buys it back or trade for a new one, the delayed reply was pretty much a no. What I recommend people do is write to the Federal Trade Commission and the Better Business Bureau. If necessary, write to your Representative. Congress is supposed to work for the public. There are laws that protect consumers from faulty products such as this. I already wrote a complaint to the FTC and will be writing another one to the BBB. If more of us come together and force our government to do their job then future consumers will be protected.

GM receives corporate subsidies from the Feds each year. I am sure they don't want to loose that chunk of change. I am willing to go as far as filing a civil lawsuit against GM. FYI: Check where your Chevy is assembled. If it is in Mexico, stay away. That's what happen when corporation outsourced to save money. The two trucks I have problems with were both assembled in Mexico.

After the purchase, I noticed vibrations in the steering wheel and rear view mirror at highway speeds. I contacted my dealer and they said that sometimes the vehicles get flat spots in the tires and asked me to drive it for 500 miles. The vibration continued. I brought in into the dealer on 2/17/16 at 1302 miles. They performed a "road force balance".

The status on my invoice states "condition has been reduced." I put ~5000 miles on the truck during March (mostly highway). The vibration is back in the steering wheel. I have also noticed terrible performance with the transmission combined with the new "engine brake" feature they added in 2013. The transmission is often "confused" and has very aggressive downshifts. I was recently coasting from a 50 mph zone into a 35 mph zone (without braking) and the truck made a loud thud and jerked. I brought the truck back to the dealer. I stated my concerns with the vibration and transmission (which perhaps are related). I am very disappointed with this truck so far. I own a 2009 Chevy Silverado Crew Cab with a 4.8L/V8 engine. I guess you could say things started falling apart on it last year, at least major things started falling apart. I have had to replace a hub on the front already. Then a month later, due to the noise my mechanic heard, I had to have an engine rebuilt... literally. Of course the truck was no longer under warranty. It had expired 6 months earlier. The truck had 86k miles on it, give or take a 1k but they had to replace the rocker arms, lifters, heads, camshaft, etc. The parts had worn down prematurely.

Almost $5k later I get my truck back, and now there is a clunking noise in the back end. Taking it again to my mechanic to check it out. I read back then while it was in the shop being fixed, that other people had had the same issue but with the bigger engine size and that GM knows about it but isn't doing anything about it. My truck is paid off and I'm trying not to have to buy another one. If I do I will jump ship and go with either Toyota or I can't believe I'm going to say this, a Ford truck.

I have taken very good care of this engine/vehicle and since it shouldn't be having issues with less than 100k, I just don't get it. Such a shame. I'm hoping one day to be able to get my money back from having to have an engine rebuilt that wasn't my fault for damages. Apparently it was cheap manufacturing. We even stopped our son from buying a Chevy vehicle due to all the issues going on with ALL their vehicles. Way to many recalls.... Wake up Chevy! You are losing your clientele quickly.

My truck should've never had to have the engine rebuilt yet or a hub replaced, and oh yeah, tire sensors replaced already. They started reading that I had 75 lbs of pressure in my tires. Not good. Still have one that doesn't read right or it is the computer system but yet Onstar doesn't say a word about it. Now I'm dealing with low antifreeze for some reason, plus we are also keeping an eye on my oil levels as the last few times when we changed it out, I was lacking in oil. I sincerely hope this helps someone else out in reviewing the trucks. If I had known what I do now, I probably wouldn't have bought a Chevy truck.

First, the oil pressure is very low, tested at 22lb. idle and 30lb at highway speed (2500 rpm). I took it to the dealer and they said the readings were within factory specs??? (Standard GM answer to problems.) Something is wrong with the brakes - they fade during braking and feel spongy, like there is air in the lines. Dealer told me there is nothing wrong, within factory specs. The lack of braking effectiveness is dangerous, especially when towing a vehicle without trailer brakes, but GM insists there is nothing wrong.

Most recently, the pickup began leaking oil; turns out the oil cooler line was leaking, something that happens to almost every Silverado HD on the road according to the GM mechanic. Of course the warranty was expired (even the vehicle has only 14,000 miles) and the repair cost me $450. Mechanic told me he was surprised the transmission cooler lines weren't also leaking - they all do. Consumers just don't hear of these recurring problems in the glossy advertising. I looked at a new 2016 2500HD and the faulty oil and transmission cooler lines have not been modified in any way. GM has known these are faulty parts for a decade and they have not redesigned them at all. Shame on GM. No more.

I can't wait until the American public takes Chevy down. Sure we tried once by not buying their death traps but our corrupt government and paid two timing NHSTA/American Auto Union saved them and is continuing to cover for Chevy's atrocities towards us hard working citizens. On JAN 20, '15, I brought a 2010 Chevy crew cab w/ 4.8 eng. Only 64k on it. Took it to 3 different dealers after owning it for a month and a half they all said it was a A-1 truck! Was the most BEAT vehicle I EVER OWNED... Lemon all the way. Problems? You name it--I had it. Truck sound haunted, it moaned, vibrated, clunked, leaked water in the cabin. Poor tranny, underpowered man these trucks are the worst.

Well, mid-November I started to notice the brakes going to the floor. On three different occasions truck would shudder to a stop. To make a long story short, I panic-traded the truck in for 2012 Ram 1500 SLT around mid-December. Could NOT BE HAPPIER!!! I only feel bad and concerned for whoever brought my HAZARDOUS CHEVY... THE NHSTA IS TO BLAME AND THE UNIONS. They know these Chevys are creating terror on hard working citizens' income and killing people... By reading these reviews, I see they will need another bailout soon. Good luck with that... NOT REALLY. Anyway, let make America great again... Let Chevy fail.

Bought a new 1500 Silverado and it's been in the shop more than I've driven it - same problems as everyone else here. They build a nice looking truck I'll give them that but mechanically not so much. I traded it in recently and got myself an F-150. Last american truck out there that will run through rain and snow. I know all of us GM supporters hate to hear this but, just give it a test drive, you won't be disappointed - DON'T GO FOREIGN. The same problems occur with those trucks as they do with the Chevy.

I have been having issues with the dome light not working the way it should when you open the doors. The radio has been replaced, the body module has been reprogram. My truck has been back at the dealership so many times for this I have lost count. I have looked into the Kentucky Lemon Law and they are sure that this Truck falls into the category of buying a lemon. Piles Chevrolet has been very good about looking into the matter but has not been able to fix it. I am tired of calling the dealership getting a loaner and leaving my truck.

I have spent my hard earned money on something that is not right. I would love to be able to the truck I purchased without the worry of when this is going to happen. I like the dealership. They have been very understanding about this problem and have tried to solve this issue. I am tired of my truck sitting on a lot being repaired time after time for the same issue. If there is anything that could be done I would love to get this settled and feel good about driving my 2014 Chevy Silverado. Please HELP!

In 2007 I bought a brand new Chevy Silverado Classic pickup truck with the 4.8L engine. I have always changed my oil every 3000 to 5000 miles never going any longer than that. At 120,000 miles a lifter started knocking, took it to my local dealer and was told that it need new lifters and camshaft at a cost of $4,185.00. I was also informed that this a recurring problem and Chevrolet will not acknowledge it. During the repairs the dealer also said I had scouring in number 2 cylinder and pitting in number 7. I have never used oil or have I lost coolant.

I wrote a letter to Chevrolet telling them my problem and requested them to provide some kind of reimbursement. I was called by the customer service center in Detroit and they patched me thru to a Service Agent in Austin Texas. The first time I was told I needed a reimbursement form, but then I was told I could not fill one out because it's out of warranty. Now today I was called by Austin Texas and asked if I was satisfied with Chevrolet, of I course I said no. I asked her if Chevrolet was going to do anything for me and she said no. I asked to talk to someone else and was told no. All I want is a letter saying that they are going to pay or not.

2014 Chevy Silverado - vibration issues and shaking a lot. Worked on twice, no fix, then stated they would no longer work on my truck. Then they said they will. Then they say that won't. Won't give buy back when asked at low miles, then when asked at higher miles they said I had too many miles. They will probably go out of business soon if people wise up and not buy. Bad product with much worse Service. Do not buy CHEVY.

I own a 2014 Silverado LT and have had issues since day one! When Chevrolet delivered my new truck I noticed scratches on the fender and one of the doors already had dings in it. They fixed that and I was good until the countless recalls started happening. It took them 6 months total to fix most of the issues. My truck is now 2 years old and at 31,500 miles on it. The seat starts making a creaking noise. Truck goes back for another week.

My most current issue now is I spotted oil coming out from under the throttle body when I upgraded my intake system. I don't know how long that will take but it's been a pain to have to keep taking this truck back all the time. Tires are crap and need replacing really soon, breaks are squeaking like hell and needs new rotors already... That's ridiculous! I probably won't buy another GM vehicle after this one. Don't get me wrong - the truck itself is gorgeous and the design is amazing but all these issues really have to due to computer failures rather than mechanical failures.

2005-k1500 Silverado, 70,000 miles. Well cared for body wash and under washes. So far brake lines rusted, transmission replaced, front wheel hubs replaced, and now gas line replacement due to rust. Both say it's from road salt. Well my 2001 Nissan with 110,000 miles is just fine and my 2003 Caravan is just fine.

Really? Not a safety issue. Wash your car more is the answer? I would love to join a class action lawsuit. I have paid over 7000.00 dollars in repairs out of pocket. Help, is there anything I can do? Stay away from GM. They are gov't backed and will do nothing to protect their consumers.

I bought a new 2013 Silverado 1500 LT crew cab 2wd long bed from Craig Smith Auto Group in Galion, Ohio and had it one day and had a bad smell of antifreeze coming from the heater and I took it back the next day where I bought it and they told me that the heater core needed replaced and gave me a loaner, upon exiting I see the mechanic tearing out the seats and dash. The next day I went in to pickup my truck and the whole inside of truck had deep scratches from seatbelt harnesses both sides to dash seat moldings surround on the steering wheel and kicker panels.

I was furious and went in and got Rob the service manager and showed him and he said they would fix it. I was pissed and I told him but it's a new truck 3 days old and this was our 5th Chevy bought from this dealer and I felt I deserved something because they didn't offer a new truck so I told Rob I want step bars and mud flaps and wheel liners on the back since this happened and he said he would have to get the ok from GM area rep. He called and said I could have the stuff for the trouble I had. Got the stuff put on a week later and some interior parts and it took a total of 3 months before all interior was repaired. There was a rattling noise next and they said the seal on the window needs fix so another day another loaner. Now I wanted a new truck and I got the runaround between the dealer and GM for 2 years. So I traded it in on a Ram 1500 first one. If the Ram doesn't work this time I'm going foreign.

2015 Chevy Silverado ltz - During the drive I noticed that the truck had a vibration in the front end and the steering was not as responsive as I expected. I found overall the truck lacked pickup when accelerating. I felt as though I had to hammer on the gas to get a normal response from the engine and if I came to any hill or small incline I had to put the pedal to the floor to maintain any speed or it would instantly drop down in speed. I would not invest in this truck personally. The interior is fantastic but the performance felt gutless with no weight in it, like it couldn't pull itself up a hill, let alone a heavy full load and the overall running gear felt very unreliable and impractical.

This is my gf driving this truck. After the engineer came to Chevy, test drove this Garbage truck and told me it's fine. I only have 5000k on it, the jerkin going on with this truck, feels like something dragging, very bad vibration. Drove this truck to Niagara falls, worst drive of my life. Whole time I drive this truck, I'm scared for my family life that this trucks going to fall apart on me and what the dealer and engineer say not even look at the truck and says go to CAMVAP, an arbitration program that they will tell them to fix the problem or do a buy back. I think this is a joke. First this started with a 2014 Chevy Cruze that had Garbage problems and that only had 5500k on it. Chevy is done, they should shut down shop.

I purchased a 2004 Chevy Silverado brand new. First issue I had was the airbag light came on in the first 36,000 mi. Then I had issues with the leaf springs twice. Dealer said it was due to faulty part, also in the first 36,000 mi. Next I had issues with the fan blower for the heater/AC in the first 36,000 mi. Then the fan blower went out again after my warrant was up, so I went without it working until finally I received a recall letter for that and they fixed that issue and I haven't had any problems with that since. Now I'm having an issue with it losing power. I know the trucks getting old now, so problems like this are to be expected. I'm not complaining about this issue, just wish I could figure out what the problem is, because this truck is my baby and I want to be able to get it fixed. Overall I've been pretty satisfied with this truck!!!!

Chevrolet sent an inspector to the site of the fire. They reported that the fire was due to lights on the bumper -- aftermarket bumper. They said the burden of proof was on me. I obtained a letter saying there were no lights on that type of bumper -- it is bolt on replacement bumper. They claimed 0 responsibility and said I could seek legal counsel. Unbelievable that they could not accept responsibility for their product. I had always bought chevy's. No more.

Like many of the other reviews I read, problems seem to begin at 100k miles. The most recent and serious is the brake problem just as others described. Luckily they went out while parked, but situation could have been worse as I often pull a trailer. Spouse repaired a rusted line with stainless and also reported fuel line same condition. Rear bumper totally rusted, so replaced that. A few of the other things that have stopped working - speedometer quit at 100k miles. Windshield washer spray stopped working. Two years ago, my heating unit would not switch from heat to air on demand. Spouse hooked up a lever on unit under dash to do this manually and it has worked just fine. Purchased this truck in 2012 with 60k miles on it and was very pleased. However my thoughts are changing.

Bought the truck used 3 years ago. Had very low miles and all the extras, so paid 22k for a 12-year old truck with 40k miles. Has 90k miles on it now and is falling apart. Have put 3000 dollars in repairs every year I've owned the truck. The front end is horrible. The brake failure problem most Chevy owners deal with is ridiculous and no one can find out why my brakes don't work. Pedal goes to the floor and the abs comes on. Feels like I'm sliding on ice every time I stop. No lights on so they can't do a diagnostic. And I can't even drive the truck anymore because of it and still owe 10k on it. Have almost rear ended a few other cars and had to run through a couple of red lights because it just wouldn't stop. Are a lot of complaints on the net about the same problem. And something should be done about it.
