I must admit... I am tired of putting money into this car. I now wonder if I'd just be better off with a car note. I've had O2 sensors, spark plugs, fuel pump and catalytic convertor replaced and the check engine light still comes on. I can't pass emissions for NOTHING. Their system keeps saying the car is not ready and as soon as I leave, the light comes back on and I have to start all over again with re-sets and driving a certain number of miles to clear out a monitor that refuses to clear. My mechanic can't figure it out and I am tired of missing work to drop it off @ the shop. Has anyone else had these issues? If so, what did you do to keep the light off?

My 2008 Chevy Malibu LT driver's side plastic seat back keeps coming loose and falls away from the seat. The rear passengers cannot sit behind the driver without touching this plastic piece. I got it fixed 4 times and the fix only lasts for 6-8 months before falling off. When I get into my car, I lift up and push myself into the seat and eventually the seat back comes loose and falls away. No permanent fix yet. Very frustrating.

Bought car (2008 Malibu LTZ) in july 2012. Four weeks after the engine light came on. Car run poorly. Took it to dealer. They would just clear the codes and give it back and say they can't find the problem (5 times). In sept 2013 the motor threw a rod with only 68000 miles driving to work less than 1/4 to mile. Argue with dealer they say "too bad for you" then called GM and they supplied new motor but I had to pay for labor (2700.00). Now the window fuse blows if you try to roll windows with motor not running and the driver rear window stopped working. Then the other rear window stop working. With both not working, 1 before the other, harness must have a short in it. It seems that GM products have poor quality, look good but fall apart. I thought better of GM, but now?

Recall #13036. I was almost rear ended coming home from work. My brake lights failed and as I drove home my stability control and traction control failed as well. The problem is the Body Control Module. A defect on this vehicle under recall. I informed GM and was told that NO REPLACEMENT PARTS ARE AVAILABLE at this time. I was also told not to drive the unsafe vehicle (of course). GM then told me that they have no idea when parts will be available. GM won't pay for the tow and will not provide loaners or rentals to its customers who are unable to operate their defective and unsafe vehicles.
I was told by Bill Kay Buick/GMC (they really did try to help me) that GM told them that a temporary repair is available that may or may not work and if it doesn't I would have to pay to have this defective vehicle towed again. The car dealers have their hands tied because they cannot get repair parts. The customers get the good old corporate American shaft. I am a disabled veteran and this situation is disgusting. 3 calls to GM, 2 promises of a return call (never received one) I am at a loss. I cannot afford a rental and need to go 16 miles to get to work. The last person from GM didn't identify herself clearly and actually snickered when I explained my situation. Is this any way to treat a veteran and/or a customer?

Three times now. I'll be driving along doing 45, 50 and 65 on the highway. Then next thing bam, every light and warning message you could think of came on. My car on its own would slow down to 20mph. The first time I was on snow, coming down the Rocky Mountains, and needless to say almost smacked into a barricade. Second time I was on dry road and it did it again. Third time I was almost smashed into the back of by a diesel. My girlfriend was terrified, she was there for two of the three times. I am at the dealers and waiting to see what the problem is. Come to find out there is at least a half dozen recalls on my car. I have tried to call GM but, I don't have time to wait for them to care anymore. I have bills to pay, and 450$ plus insurance on a car is ridiculous. Especially a life threatening vehicle. I have been a Chevy fan all my life, but now I am considering switching to a foreign car.

Bought a 2008 LT Malibu used with only 19,000 miles. Wow, I thought what a great deal. Car had everything and original price was $27,000. In the two years I owned it, I have invested a thousand dollars for a door actuator, a battery that leaked and ate the wires and a wheel position sensor. The car leaks bad under the steering wheel on the left side and when you turn the steering wheel, it moans and groans. After researching the car and heard about the transmission problems, I just yesterday traded it in for a new Ford Fusion. Good riddance. Supposed to be a top-of-the-line car that was junk. It is a shame the government lets the consumers get screwed with these car makers. I pray this Ford is not a lemon.

I purchased A 2006 Chevy Malibu. The Car looked great, but after a few weeks later the power steering started acting up, then it completely locked on me when I was driving in the highway, almost causing an accident. This happened several times, then after I end up in a real accident and had my car repaired besides the power steering. The dealership did not want to take blame or even fix the issue, they tried to blame it on the accident when, I've already spoken to them about the issue. Then I found out that several other people had the same issue with this part from the same make and model. But GM, ** only, set a recall on some Malibu's besides My own, which is really messed up. I will complain for a very long time or until I have a major accident with this part and sue them for not taking care of their customers well. So overall, GM sucks for customer service and parts performance.

I purchased 2008 Malibu for my wife my first new car. The trouble didn't take long to start - less than 3000 miles the rotors were warped so they cut them and every few thousand miles after that cut again, until they had to replace the rotors I think for the second time. I ask to speak to the manager to try and get this corrected but instead I was told to start putting my car manual going down hills and to down shift to help slow the car down and that's the only thing they can do to help correct the problem. I told him that if I wanted a manual transmission that's what I would have bought. His comment: "That's all we can do." I put on drilled and dimpled rotors on the front, with a set of soft green Brembo pads and haven't had any problems. But I think it's a shame you buy a new car and this the response I got. It cost me $750.00 to to help GM engineers fix something that should have been fixed on design stages. PS, the back brakes are no better. Thanks, GM! NEVER AGAIN.

I purchased my 2006 Malibu new. All has been good until this year. First the steering wheel would lock, paid for that. Have had it back in the chevy shop about 5 times since April. When you are driving, it will make a noise and shut off. I have been on the highway and at red lights, it will jump without putting on the brake, and will shut off. I can sit and sometime it take 2-4 time to start if back up, it has two different times, I would drive a little way, will shut off again. They have had someone drive it, and it shut off with them. Have had a sensor, module, spark plug, module, coil, boot, seal, ignition switch, steering column replaced. Got a letter on the electric pwr steering for a recall, but the part is not in. The chevy shop has the car again, they still can not find out why it will shut off. I'm retired.

I have a 2009 Chevy Malibu - 6 cylinder with 90k miles. I will have owned my car for only 2 years in December. First Issue, leaky water issue when it rains and water collect under the brake. Second, ECS traction light. Third Issue, water leaks on A panel on driver side door when it rains hard. Fourth Issue, Brake light sticks even when I'm not pressing the brake. Fifth issue, car started shifting rough. One day it would not move out of gear even after I was able to put it in gear. Later that day I was able to drive it home and it Ok sorta for like two more day. A couple of days later it was bad where the engine light came on and it would not accelerate at all and had to have it towed to the shop. I took it to the Chevy dealership. My warranty had ended two months prior but I was under the 100k. They wanted $3800 for a new transmission. No way could I afford that.
I got a call back three days later from the Dealership, said that they spoke with GM and I would have to pay a % for a new transmission. I ended up having to pay $1300. I was so elated and relieved that GM stood up and honored my expired Warranty. They have gained a customer for life. I always hear the horror stories, just wanted to share a "light at the end of the tunnel" experience. 2 weeks later, So far so good!

I purchased a used 2008 Malibu from a Chevrolet dealer with a little over 34000 miles. I've had the car for 2 years with 82000 miles and the transmission is slipping. I have contacted OnStar several times to run a diagnostic test and they are not showing any issues with the engine. One of my main reasons for subscribing to the service was for the remote diagnostics which is useless to me. I was hoping this service would give me a heads up on soon to be problems. I am concerned that the transmission is gone so soon as well as the service not providing information about problems with the car. I have never had transmission problems with any vehicle I've owned. So so disappointed in Chevrolet. I've always owned Buicks or Fords and never had a transmission problem.

My 2005 Chevy Malibu Maxx lost its power steering twice in a ten minute drive. I immediately contacted my local Chevy dealer as I had been directed to in the recall notice sent out by G.M. earlier this month. Two local dealers in RI informed me that they have not received the parts and therefore cannot fix my vehicle until G.M. makes the parts available. I then contacted G.M. through the Chevrolet Customer Assistance Center. They were unable to answer my question of when parts would be made available to dealerships in order to correct this safety issue. During my last conversation with someone in the G.M. Executive Department I was informed that parts are being manufactured but G.M. cannot provide any timeline as to when consumers will be able to take their cars to dealerships to be fixed. In the meantime G.M. expects consumers such as myself to continue driving their vehicles despite the safety risk.

It has gotten so bad we are forced to open the windows and turn A/C off. Local dealer says they cannot get unit to fail, but now want me to leave my 2013 Malibu over night. A software patch was installed to turn on the blower fan from time to time to dry out the A/C system filter to keep mold from being the problem. I informed the service manager that it smelled more like a chemical smell than a mold smell. They also sprayed a mold reducer into the vent system. DID NOT HELP!!!

Have an 09 Malibu LT. First, Passenger side seat belt locks up for no reason. I wasn't involved in an accident so have no idea why this happened. Seems the only thing to do is replace the whole seatbelt unless it's a problem with Airbag Computer. Either way, not an inexpensive problem. So for now I have my wife sitting in the backseat so I don't get a ticket!
Next I get a P0420 code. Bad Cat! Of course, the cat on this thing is part of the Exhaust manifold. Now all of a sudden the front channel on my stereo stopped working. Not to mention having to take the entire front of the car off to change a headlight bulb. I was always a Chevy guy. But this will be my last!

I bought my car used. It currently had 60,000 miles. I had it for nearly one year in a half. My car has really never given me any problems until this weekend when I was on the freeway and my transmission blew out. My car only had 80,000 miles. I literally almost died on the freeway. My accelerator stopped working and dropped down to "0 miles." The gas pedal gave out. I almost lost my life on the freeway. It is the most terrifying experience ever. I do not recommend anyone to purchase at least this type of model car. It is an unsafe car. The worst part is that I am a college student and I took out a loan for this car and I still haven't paid it off.
I have nearly 10,000 left to finish paying it and the cost to rebuild the transmission is $2,500. I am a college student and can't afford to pay this type of amount. I really can't believe my transmission blew out my car, never gave me a problem. I always DID its services on time. I took much care for it. Never DID my car give me a clue of its transmission about to blow out. It tricked me. It always ran super smooth. I really can't believe this happened to me. I honestly do not recommend you to buy this car. It is not safe. Thank you.

I bought this car back in 2008 as brand new. It was the perfect car until 2010. That's when my driver door lock began to stop working only when it was hot outside (I live in Southern California so that is practically every day). It didn't bother me. I just parked my car in the shade and it kept working fine. I then had asked my Aunt who has the same car if she had any problems with hers and her driver door lock also didn't work in the heat. So I went to the Chevy dealer where I bought the car and they said no recall or other complaints had been filed but it would cost me $400 to fix. I told them to drop dead because I had barely paid off my car (I did it in 2 years). So I went about and didn't get it fixed.
A year later, I then noticed that a new light had begun to flash on the dashboard so I went to the Manual and it said there was an airbag that was defective and that I needed to get it fixed immediately and it would be low cost. I then went back to my dealer and they said it was critical if I didn't get it fixed because if I didn't, the airbag would not deploy in the event of an accident. So I asked how much it would cost and they told me $600!! I told them that they can drop dead once again because it said in the manual that it would be low cost because it is important to fix. They told me no such thing existed and took my manual and replaced it with a newer version that did not say anything about the pricing.
I then went on to write to Chevrolet and they said no such thing had ever existed and that it must have been a misprint. So I still have yet to fix it. About a month ago, I noticed that the Driver, Front Passenger, or Passenger Rear locks work in heat or cold. The only one that works is the Driver passenger Rear. Chevy then told me again that no recall or complaints have ever been filed against the car ever in the whole country. My Aunt and I, who also has the similar Malibu, were recently in that car in an accident and her airbags did not deploy anywhere!
I can say that I felt safe with or without the airbags but her sensors were clearly hit and nothing happened. They hit us on the front of the car and the sensors were clearly hit because they were dangling off the front of the car. The other car which was a Prius also had airbags that didn't deploy. It was strange. But I still have my car and it is as disappointing as ever. In 2012, I got in a fender bender in this car so I got it fixed through Chevrolet and if anything, they made this car worse because my steering wheel shakes occasionally and it is sometimes hard to control. Chevy said it was not their fault and that if they want it fixed, I would have to pay $2000. It is absurd. I will never buy a Malibu again but I am considering a Chevy Cruze. Take it that it has been receiving great reviews.

Number 1, if it's normal then they would all do that, acting like it wants to stall when its idle and the occasional burning smell coming from the heater I would not deem as "Normal" or the other response I got was "Sometimes the computers don't always communicate well". Really? I would say that's a problem. The honest truth is this...its still under warranty which means dealers don't make any money off the service and unless its dead on the side of the road or the check engine light is on no dealer is going to do a damn thing. Purchased car (2011 Chevy Malibu 2T v6 engine) new at dealer in MI. Car now has 55k on it so warranties etc. are pretty much out of date per GM. Good thing for them I guess because car is falling apart. At 10k took car in to Chevy dealer for noise I heard in front end. Was told noise was simple undercarriage noise and all the cars make this. Having owned GM cars in the past I was sure this was not so. Brought car back in several times and told the same thing. Now noise is so bad I can't take it. In it goes and intermediate steering column is bad. Just like the one in my Bonnevilles and Grand Prixes. I assumed, incorrectly, that GM would engineer new cars a bit better these days...I assumed wrong. They will not touch this and want about $400 for the fix.
At 50k I noticed a problem with acceleration. While traveling in subzero weather on a long stretch of highway the car flashes every light it has and goes down to reserve power mode. The car would not go faster than 10 mph and I crawled back to spot I could stay till a tow truck came. Apparently the throttle body and its sensors went out. Naturally, not Chevy or GM's fault and no recall. I thought it ironic that the shop had to order my part because they had 5 Chevy's in for the same fix that day and were out of my part. I guess it's my problem I missed work due to car issues on a relatively new car and it's my problem that I bought a classic Chevy lemon. Now I have a new sound to investigate and it appears to be coming from the right rear wheel assembly. Maybe this car doesn't like highway miles!!! Too bad for Americans who want to buy American. I can't afford new car payments and $400 a month repair bills on top of it.

Around 78000 kilometers, heard noise from the engine. I was driving on the free way pulled over to safe place, could not understand and then pulled to the near gas station, turned off the car, found nothing. When I restarted heard loud noise and it disappeared. Took the car to GM dealer. They told me AC Compressor seized, wear and tear would cost $900. Kept driving with rolled down windows in summer.
Again heard engine sound. I was not far from GM dealer. First they told me it might be the belt but actually the problem was less engine oil at 114000 km as car was under warranty I was advised to keep driving and keep eye on the oil. After some time, same thing, bone dry. I put oil to the level and after work drove to GM dealer. They told me, "Don't add oil just bring to us." Anyway they changed oil again and advised me to keep driving and when low oil bring back to us. It happens again and I drove to GM. Now car has 124000 km, same oil issue, lack of power climbing hills same dealership. They opened the engine and told me engine is shot and it would cost me $6500 to fix it as warranty has expired, and GM not covering it now even its the same issue. I haven't had any problems with my 2012 yet I've had it a year now and the 05 I done had a few problems with it like steering and arms, CV joint, air condition, back brakes, EGR valve hole stop up, traction control don't work and the back brake lights problems. The 12 is, I guess I can say, an okay car but it doesn't do what they have for the gas mileage. It's close to what they got for hwy mileage. I done test it with 10 to 15% ethanol and ethanol-free gas. You will get better fuel mileage with the ethanol free-gas, that E85 you get terrible fuel mileage. Don't even know why they invented E85.

We own a 2007 Malibu. We bought it based on the good reputation and experience we had with GM. We have had issues with our steering, upon turns it would make a clunk noise as if the transaxles were going out. One day my wife had her power steering fail. We took it to our local dealer (High country Chevrolet Aztec NM). We had a extended powertrain warranty. They said it was a steering arm and we were charged almost 500.00. Well that did not fix the issue we have since had this happen again a few time. The power steering seems to go out, the dash warning alarm come on and the steering jerks to the left. I have read that there are countless complaints about this issue and still there is no recall. Although you have recalled the 2004, 2005 2006, and 2008 Malibu models for this issue.
We cannot afford to just throw away our family vehicle. We still owe some 2700.00 till it is paid off. My wife is a disabled Vet and we are on a limited income. Would you please issue a recall for this issue. Our car is well cared for and only has 112k miles on it. We paid through our teeth already to have the problem fixed and the dealer did not fix the problem. When purchasing this vehicle from a dealer we purchased a extended powertrain warranty to avoid this issue. And we are told this is not a powertrain issue. Please return our request with a recall authorization.

Then I call dealership and they say I will have to pay $100s of $$$$ for something that every owner of this car is having. The fact that they have not recalled this issue is mind boggling. Let's not forget the cheap interior. My elbow went straight through the arm rest on the door and I'm a small girl. Couldn't believe it.. Then happened on the passenger side door more recently. And wait there's more. My break system needs replacing about twice a year. No one can figure out why. Cost me $100s to fix. I will never buy any type of Chevy ever again.

I bought this car from a wholesale dealer at 155,000 miles. I know that’s a lot of miles. The car was bought early in 2011. The transmission was probably shot before I got it because I didn't notice the warranty on the trans for 750 miles that the dealer offered. The trans went out about 3 months ago. The other problem is that the steering went out later in 2011 and the car started gliding to the left when turning right on the expressway! The steering went out in the middle of driving! There was no accident but side shops kept telling me rack and pinion and not steering coupling which is probably the problem like Midas told me.
The rack and pinion was fixed but power steering light keeps coming on and the steering wheel locks up often. The third problem with this car is the engine tries to not start and I have had to press on the gas while starting it sometimes. The 4th thing is the brakes on a car should last more than six months right? Nothing works every time I repair them. The 4th problem is wiring. Guess you can say the car starts up after 190,000 miles but that’s the only plus.

I have had to replace this part every year since... normally, after only 6 months the light comes on and the shop told me it had to be replaced.
8 months ago, I went to another shop and they replaced the entire system, cleaned all the gunk out and now, 6 months later and after spending close to $3000, the light came on again. I give up. By this time the car would not move at all. That did not work.
He took it to the Chevy dealer and they told him it needed a motor. I purchased my car in 2006, from Mayse Automotive in Aurora, MO where I got a Malibu that the salesman Picked out for me (I didn't walk out there and pick it out - he did). After purchasing and returning to the mechanic 6 times in the 1st 3 months for Big problems with the car, I asked for a new one - they gave me the run around over and over, as I continued to have more problems with the car. I missed work and continued to pay the deductibles over and over and over! The manager, the salesmen, and everyone there EXCEPT the Mechanic for the dealership ignored me completely, continued to give me the runaround - and I was there weekly yelling about a new problem! The mechanic even said something to me about how often I was in there, and how I was really getting a bad deal!
Now 6 years later I paid it off last week. After COUNTLESS problems with this car, the power steering went out, so I took it to my mechanic who found there was a recall on it, sent me to Mayse and they told me they wouldn't fix it for free because I was 600 mi over the recall for this part??? (Really there's a mileage for a part that will kill you!) I have never received one piece of paper about any recalls (turns out there's 4). So I began calling. National Traffic Safety admin. was very helpful and advised me to make a complaint and then another with the MO Attorney General's office, BBU, and after I called GM 4 times and got through to A very helpful Anthoney, he is trying to work with Mayse and help me before this Malibu kills me or someone else!
I have had transmission problems, fuel pump problems, ignition problems, anti theft goes off whenever it wants, CV joints, steering shaft (when I purchased it), doesn't start once then starts the 2nd time, suspension problems, Steering pin and assembly, and my favorite - Metal shavings in the oil! And that's just what I remembered to write down or had a receipt for. Working with Mayse now, and if it doesn't work with them I am advised to go to another dealership and won't stop until I get this right-the right way!

I have taken my 2009 Malibu in several times to complain about a noise coming from the front driver's side when making left hand low speed turns. I was told by Andy the Service Rep at West Herr Chevrolet in Orchard Park that his mechanics could not duplicate my problem so nothing was done. It happened several times while I was driving home with a friend from work. She even came with me when I took the car in. Also, right after that noise happened, as I was coming out of the turn and I stepped on the gas, my car would not accelerate (something which was very dangerous in rush hour traffic).
Consequently, it was never fixed and I believed that I was crazy. What if it stalls when I have my great granddaughter's with. I worry about that all the time. That was 2 years ago. Today, July 23, 2013, I read an experience that described the exact problem I was experiencing. I am calling West-Herr back tomorrow and giving them the fix for this problem. I bought an extended warranty when I bought this car new in December 2009 with 8 miles on it. I have had to pay $50+ to replace the wipers and now I have to pay someone else $158.00 to replace the headlights because West Herr will charge me $120 per side to replace them. Also, there is something wrong with the left front end and my son's friend told me they will charge me because whatever it is, they will say it's normal wear and tear.
I will find out tomorrow what it is from the mechanic who is changing the headlights. I am 62 and this was my first new car. I remember I was so proud to own a NEW car. It was supposed to be cheaper to run and fix - it's neither and it chaps my butt to have paid Chevrolet $2,000 for the extended warranty when it doesn't do anything. When I got it, the salesman told me I would not have to pay for anything, this would cover my car from "bumper to bumper" for the life of my loan. I made a big stink at the dealership because when I took it in for an oil change and tire rotation, it cost $80+ AND they wanted me to pay another $25 to have the computer reset!! I told them what the salesman had said and I almost started crying and got rather loud because I felt they were trying to take advantage of an older woman!!
I also have to take it in for a recall. I can see why people do not like to deal with dealerships. I have to find out now if what is wrong with the car is covered by this non-existent warranty. I've previously owned a Nissan Altima and I am going back to that when I've had enough of this one. It's going to be soon.

It is a very costly repair and we as consumers should not have to bear this cost as a RECALL should have been issued because this is a known problem of these vehicles. Sure, your vehicle can be reset by leaving the key in the "ON" position for 10 minutes and once the blinking light goes out turn the car "OFF" and then start your vehicle. I was told to replace the battery, which I did. Not long after that my check engine light came on and stayed on. I took it in for a diagnostic at AutoZone and AutoParts; both scanners would not communicate with the vehicle. Finally, it broke down and I took it to the dealer for my PCM to be flashed. The vehicle still wouldn't communicate with a scanner.
After this, I replaced the fuel level sensor. Still nothing. I finally DIY the reprogramming of the Security System and buying new key. This actually worked and the diagnostic was complete. 2 things popped up but went off after driving approx. 40 miles as suggested by mechanic. I returned to the mechanic to have emissions test completed (New York State Law) and the car failed to communicate for Albany thus leaving me with a car that cannot connect to pass emissions and that I can't renew registration on until it passes emissions!
I am a single mother of a 10-year-old. I am also a college student and working part-time. GM does not care about their consumer as none of these issues (faulty parts) have yet to be resolved at no cost to the consumer. I should not have to replace a part that is not normally damaged by wear and tear, accidents, etc. This part is inside the gas pump. How could I have damaged that?
Never will I buy a Chevy or any GM vehicle or recommend. This is my second Malibu. The first was a brand new 2003 purchased in 2003. I had minor issues but I do remember right before selling the vehicle, the radio started to not read any of my CDs. NEVER IGNORE THE SIGNS AGAIN!!

I had my 2006 Chevy Malibu serviced/repaired at Burt Chevrolet, 5200 South Broadway, Englewood, Colorado 80113. The vehicle had a steering problem (clunk, knock noise from front of vehicle - occurs while driving or turning at low speeds). The dealership/service department replaced the original steering column with a new one. The problem returned. The dealership/service department replaced the steering column again. The problem returned. The dealership installed/lubricated the steering column. The problem returned. Each time the same problem returned (after 3 steering columns and some kind of lubrication kit). Unable to get the problem fixed, I contacted the Chevrolet Consumer Support Team (Service Request # **). I was advised to return the vehicle to the dealership.
By then, Burt Chevrolet had been replaced by John Elway Chevrolet, keeping the same location/building and services. I contacted the John Elway dealership (2 times) and was advised they could not help me with this problem, as they had no responsibility regarding what Burt Chevy did to my vehicle. John Elway Dealership was not interested in working with me or listening to my concern. The treatment was most disrespectful. I contacted the Chevy Consumer Support Team for advice. They suggested another dealership to further determine the steering problem. I took the vehicle to Emich Chevrolet, 2033 South Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood, Colorado 80227. The problem was diagnosed as an Intermediate Steering Assembly using a Technical Service Bulletin (#06-02-32-007F) that was available in 2009. This Bulletin described the exact problem and method to service/repair/replace the parts necessary for repairs.
The service department stated that the Steering column had nothing to do with the problem and should not have been serviced/replaced by Burt Chevrolet. The service advisor offered his opinion: Burt Chevrolet did not have the properly trained staff and did not research or know of the Technical Service Bulletin to service/repair this problem. Replacing the steering column would not take care of the problem. Further, Emich Chevrolet advised they have replaced several Intermediate Steering Shaft/Assemblies for the same problem going back many years (using the Technical Service Bulletin). Not once did they replace a steering column for this problem. After discussing this with the Service Manager, he advised that General Motors/Chevy should be able to assist me with a return of monies spent on parts/labor ($612.51) at Burt Chevrolet, that was a result of inaccurate diagnosis combined with using the wrong part(s) and labor to repair the vehicle.
Cost to repair the vehicle at Emich Chevrolet was $364.27 (Invoice/customer # **). I retained the 2nd steering column that Burt Chevrolet replaced. I had an independent ASE mechanic inspect/look at the part. It is clear there is no defect in this part. I welcome Chevrolet to inspect this part to prove there is no defect. I have offered to return this non-defective part back into the Chevrolet parts inventory. Following the repairs, I contacted the Chevrolet Consumer Support Team. After many phone calls and research into this problem, they do acknowledge and agree that Burt Chevrolet did not use the Technical Service Bulletin (available at the time of service) to service the vehicle. This resulted in using the wrong part (steering column) and labor at a cost of $612.51 and 4 trips to the service department. The Chevrolet Consumer Support Team advised that they would not able to help me. I was told to seek recovery and reimbursement from the Service Manager from Burt Chevrolet. The Chevrolet Consumer Support Team would not provide information on how to contact (phone or address) to process this.
It is my understanding that John Elway Dealership took over the former Burt dealership assuming the building, sales, service, assets and liabilities. It is my understanding that the John Elway Dealership representing General Motors and Chevrolet and possibly employing many staff in the service department from Burt Chevy should help resolve this problem. In addition, I would like to contact the Service Manager from the Burt Chevy Dealership. My request/demand: Chevrolet to reimburse me $612.51. This represents the total cost (parts and labor) paid to Burt Chevrolet (Invoice #**, Customer # **), which did not repair the 2006 Chevrolet Malibu. There is agreement by both Emich Chevrolet and the Consumer Support Team that the repairs performed by Burt Chevrolet (which did not repair the problem) were direct result of misdiagnosis and not using the Technical Service Bulletin (available at the time of service).
Additional notes: I find it interesting that if a Dealership (Burt Chevy) goes away (not known why or the reason) that General Motors/Chevrolet does not honor or take care of their customers regarding any warranty issues, defective repairs or service that do not fix the vehicle. It would seem that the parent company General Motors/Chevrolet would stand by their Dealerships regarding the repairs or lack of. At this point, I am out $612.51 for monies spent that did not repair the vehicle. What is interesting is that the Chevy Consumer Support Team and Emich Chevrolet both agree the problem with the 2006 Chevy Malibu was misdiagnosis (both parts and labor) costing me $612.51, a problem that is clearly not my fault, yet no one a Chevy appears to be interested in this problem.

I have a 2004 Malibu - 165,000 kms - I drive an hour to work. I lost all steering. It wasn’t hard to steer - it was so loose. My car was all over the place. I had to get the steer gear replaced. I also fill up with gas and my gas gauge goes to empty and message says “low fuel”. This lasts for about 3-4 days. It also gives me a message “check gas cap”. I have replaced the gas cap twice. All of the above is a nuisance except the steering - I was lucky I wasn’t killed.

My wife purchased a new 2009 Chevy Malibu and had consistent problems with the power steering. The dealer has worked on her vehicle five times. They actually changed a hose to a larger one and put transmission fluid in the power steering reservoir. When the vehicle steering was turned right or left at low speed, the steering rumbled. She has contacted the manufacturer and the dealership, they cannot fix the problem. I suggest no one purchase a Chevy Malibu. This is a major problem and the dealers can't seem to fix the issue properly. Looks like we will be contacting an attorney this week. We would like to get rid of this lemon car!

I was driving down on Winchester going 45 which is the speed limit, but my car (2010 Malibu LT) started vibrating and powering down to 40 and wouldn't go back up. It felt as if the motor was going to jump out of my car. I have been keeping the oil change up to date and I just bought the car on January 14, 2012 from Kia Motors on Mt. Moriah in Memphis, TN. I took the car to the dealership and as I was driving, the dashboard said ESC Service, Traction Service, and Powering Engine Down. Shortly after that, the check engine light came on. I let them know and they told me to pay a $100 deductible because of my warranty.
They ran a diagnostics check and the results were throttling pedal position sensor. They fixed it or at least I thought they did. The next night, I went to warm my car up as I was getting off of work and 7 minutes of warming up, the throttling vibrations came back. I had no choice but to try to make it home. Even with the check engine light on and all the signals on the dashboard going off again, I made home only able to go 20 mph. The car wouldn't go any faster. I will be giving them a call Monday morning. GM, any suggestions on how you can help?

I purchased a 2012 Malibu and the roof has buckled. I had heard a loud pop each time I took it through the car wash and I always checked for any damage after coming out of the wash. The dealership had told me that the roofs were made to flex and it was just flexing. Well the last time I washed the car, it popped twice and now the roof is buckled. It has a dip in the roof now. I contacted GM and they told me they could replace the roof, but could not guarantee it would not happen again. They tried to get me to trade in my 2012 Malibu that I have only had 6 months for a 2013 Malibu, but then I would be paying more out monthly in payments and I cannot afford to do that.
This is not fair. We could not come to an agreement and they could not fix it and guarantee it, so we are going for a buy back. I have no idea what this will turn out like, but I have read up on the lemon laws in my state. I have a lemon and I know what I am entitled to. I have contacted the attorney general's office and filed a complaint. I would advise you, 2012 Malibu owners, to check your roofs if they are popping in the car wash.

On September 22, I paid $500 down to the store manager for a 2005 Chevy Malibu classic. I was told the catalytic converter needed to be fixed but calls for $700 to fix it. But if I make a total of three payments, he will fix it. He told me there was absolutely nothing else wrong with the car, that it was a good car. Two weeks later, I had a breakdown on the side of the road with three kids in the car with me. I called him asking for some help and he refused to help me or return my money. He told me there was nothing he could do about it. I finally found out it was the anti-theft system in which he won't fix. From that day, I have had nothing but problems. This vehicle is not road-safe for anyone. All four tires are bald but when I bought the car a month and a half ago, the tires were perfect.
The car sways while driving down the road. It will one minute pull to the left, then to the right, then drives straight making it hard to keep control and stay on the road. The gear shifter broke and it's hard to change gears. The brakes and rotors are going out along with front-end damage that is wearing the tires down within a month. The power steering pump is also going out. Since I've had the car, the frame has settled and is separating and the doors are overlapping causing either the doors to pop open forcefully or very hard to open. On one occasion, my five-year-old went to open the back driver side door when it popped open very hard and busted his lip, only leaving me to think that it has been in a car accident and temporarily fixed. The transmission slips from time to time and shifts into second gear hard, and has broken motor mounts and/or transmission mounts.
Be mindful that I test drove this car with my fiancé and the car drove just fine. I have two kids and it's almost Christmas so I went up there last week to see if they can just put me into a different vehicle more dependable. The manager Robert tells me he knows it's a bad car which accidentally admitted selling me a dangerous car. He then tells me, "It is what it is." I have paid $1,100 towards the balance and even told him I would start over and they could have that money if they could just put us in a safer car. But yet again refuses. I was left very angry at this point and asked to speak with the owner. But of course, I get the runaround and still have yet to speak with him.
I am thinking I won't ever get to talk to him because there's one excuse after another to why he's not there when he's supposed to be. I'm at my wit's end as a normal citizen working day by day trying to make ends meet and can't afford any of this or the countless repairs for the car. The issues of this car are adding up very quickly and I still have $4,000 left to pay. While they are smiling and collecting my money, I'm driving in a car that doesn't have much life left and is a hazard to my family and others on the road. Please help someone! I also want to broadcast this on the news because I would never wish this kind of business on anyone.

I own a 2008 Chevy Malibu, which has less than 4,000 miles on it but I have already had to take it to the dealer twice! When I get to about 35-45 mph, the engine misfires and jerks to try and gain speed. The first time, they said it was the #2 spark plug after running a diagnostic on it. So we changed it which cost me about $200. Then about a month later, it started doing the same thing again. I took it to a mechanic who I know personally. (Why trust the dealer after they already fixed the problem a month ago?) They said it was the #5 spark plug. When he pulled it out of my car, he showed me that it had a crack down the side of the porcelain. They are all the factory spark plugs which can only mean that Chevy built my car with faulty parts.
The problem stopped for about three weeks and now it is back again. My next step is to change the rest of the plugs. But I am wary of giving Chevy any more of my money. After reading the reviews on here, it is beginning to look like my car is just a POS make and model. I will never recommend to anyone I know to buy a Chevy. I may just trade it in to save myself the headache, but who knows what I will get for it considering it was horribly made. This is absolutely ridiculous!

The area I was in had a 35 mph speed and suddenly a man jumped from the side of the road, banged on the car and told me it was on fire. I pulled off the road, so as not to present a danger to any other driver. I immediately jumped out of the car before the electrical system failed and I was locked in. In a matter of seconds, before the Fire Dept arrived, the car was completely in flames. It took approximately an hour to completely put out the fire, so the roll-back driver would touch it. At the time of the fire, the car had a total of 8,000 miles on it. Has anyone had a similar problem or heard of any recalls?

I purchased a new vehicle (2012 Malibu) with 35 miles off the Chevy dealer lot. About 2 weeks later, I drove it about 100 miles on a business trip. While driving around the town, I noticed a wobbling sensation at 15 mph under the left front tire. I called dealer and took the car in. The dealer was unable to replicate the problem, did nothing and sent me home. I contacted GM, they asked me to take car to dealer; had ride along, no problem replicated, sent me home.
The car continued to wobble at 15 mph, especially in heavy traffic. Driving the car back from another business trip about 80 miles from home, the car wobbled so much the passenger thought we had a flat! I contacted GM who asked me to take the car back to dealer and have the service manager drive the car. The service manager was annoyed that GM sent me back. The service manager drove the car 17 miles. The problem could not be replicated, they rotated tires free of charge (have only made 2 payments on it) and sent me home.
Question: If someone would come in with a car and said that it wobbled so much it felt like a flat, is the standard operating procedure to rotate the tires? There is no troubleshooting that is done beyond "the computer does not detect a problem?" Really?! Perhaps if the computer drove the car it might detect a problem! The car continues to wobble at 15 mph. It is however an intermittent problem. Why, why, why would I make this up? Why would I wait 10 years to purchase a new vehicle and then pretend/make up something was wrong with it? GM should be ashamed. Lemon Law attorney, here I come!

In order to alert other drivers, I put on the hazard lights. I contacted OnStar to request a quick analysis of the car's performance. They did not find any problems. The only way to get it started was to turn ignition off and on again. There were no visible service lights on the dashboard. This is the third occurrence of this car powering down. On May 30, 2012, the system powered down and the service engine light came on. Traction light also came. The GM technician stated that sensors 1 and 2 had problems. I could not accelerate.
I believe that this is a dangerous situation, because the driver never knows when the system will power down while operating the car in traffic. Please help! The service department stated that it would be difficult to recreate the problem in order to troubleshoot it. Maybe the computer in the car rebooted and flushed out the problem when I had to restart the engine.

I went and got new batteries put in both of them. The one stopped working after one week, and the other one lasted 2 years. Big deal. At $25.00 a pop for the batteries, that adds up. I own 1996 vehicles with key pods that worked great and I never had to put new batteries in. The newest problem and most dangerous is the door lock motors are burning out one at a time. My two back doors have burnt out and I heard it is a design flaw--all of them will burn out eventually.
Chevy refuses to recall. Why? This is a 3-year old car, my babies ride in the back and I cannot lock the doors. They can jump out or someone can open them and grab them. I have no control over the locks. I am not able to climb in the back seat from the front to open the doors. Also, I work in the city at times. Because I am not able to lock and unlock the back doors and unable to climb into the back seat to do it, I risk having my car stolen or broken into. I can keep nothing in my car of any value. This is such an inconvenience. We bought the parts to replace. $75.00 each. What will stop them from re-burning out? This price does not include labor costs. If I had bought the cheapest car out there, I would not be having these problems. It makes me wonder if I should have bought the Camry instead. Chevy needs to step up and replace the locks that are burning out for our children's safety if nothing else.

An ignition coil with ground strap, about $200-$375. The ground strap is not original equipment, but it fixes design flaw. I spent $1,400 replacing power steering column and electronic power steering control module. (This car has no power steering fluid. It is electric, not hydraulic).
Also note: After an alignment, the power steering control module must be plugged into a scan tool and reprogrammed, which takes 60 seconds to do, but most mechanics, other than the dealership, don't know about it, and even a sales person in service at a dealership had never heard of it. It will get ding-ding-ding and power steering warnings on display, and a buzz or "dither" in the steering wheel, a slight left or right and a buzz.
This is the steering wheel trying to find center when it has not been plugged into the scan tool after an alignment. I rebuilt my power steering before I learned that all I needed was 60 seconds plugged into the scan tool after my alignment, which is when all of the steering issues started. I have a 2006 Malibu LTZ. I have a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu from Ourisman Chevrolet of Bowie. I purchased it used in 2010. Since then, I've had random issues with ESC and traction light appearing and after service visits, things are supposedly resolved. Since early December, my car jumps or shakes when sitting idle or even while driving over 60 mph. At first, the dash lit up with "ESC off" and "service traction". I took the car to be serviced and the service man stated my car was out of warranty (false) and that he fixed the valve which had a leak.
He made it a point to tell me he fixed it for free and to be sure I gave him a good rating on his survey. He called multiple times in the week following to see if I was having the problem. Last night, exactly a week later, my car cut off in traffic! Anyone from Washington, D.C. knows how terrible that can be. I got it towed to the dealership where of course they found nothing wrong. I love Chevy, but our relationship is done as soon as this New Year holiday is done.

Before, it never went below 65% at 5000 miles. Now in the last few months, the car has started turning the Electronic Stability Control off while driving and says to service soon and the cruise control will not set sometimes. This is a continuous on going problem and the dealership won't fix it. One things turns into another, but it all comes back to the main problem. My main issues with this model contribute to the steering column. Just recently, I have heard clunking and squealing. I hope this car lasts me well into this time next year. The 2009 Chevy Malibu that I purchased new from a dealer recently had power steering issues. I took it into the dealer for diagnosis and was told the "brain" to the power steering needs replaced. The cost of this is going to be around $800 and since my car has more that 36K miles it is not covered under warranty. Prior to taking my car to the dealer I researched the issue online and found this is an extremely common problem with the electric power steering in this model as well as other models of GM cars. Some cars such as the Pontiac G6 have had a recall issued. Why is GM failing to recall all models with this issue as this is a major component that is highly dangerous if not noticed and repaired? This is a known issue with many complaints and yet GM does nothing.
The fact that they can let loyal customers such as my self drive around and not recall this hazardous defect is not acceptable. The dealer actually had the part in stock; it’s not shocking really since they even said themselves this is common. They could not do anything about charging me for the repair and said that I would have to contact GM directly. I am out approximately $800 due to faulty power steering GM continues to ignore. Even more concerning is this is an extremely hazardous defect that could cause injury to the owner of the car with faulty power steering as well as other drivers on the road.

As she approached an intersection, which was on a slight incline, the car started to roll backwards. She was able to put the car in park, turn on the flashers, and call for help.
On Star responded, and a tow truck came. The tow truck took the car to the nearest Chevy dealer. The service dpt. looked at it and found nothing wrong. We took the car back to the dealership where the car was leased, and that service dpt. could find nothing wrong. The car now works, only because the restart of the car caused the computer system to clear and work again. We feel that the car has a faulty computer system, that there is a definite problem that could happen again. My daughter is afraid to drive the car. Lemon law in OH says it has to happen one more time before anything can be done. Chevy/GM will do nothing right now to correct this situation, even though it is a safety concern. I took it to the dealer and they repaired. It was about this same time the brakes started squeaking occasionally. I asked the dealer's service manager to have the brakes checked.
She said that carbon was building up and I should just park on a slope and back up really fast and hit the brakes to burn it off. This does not work. Then the transmission went out and another dealer towed my Malibu to their service department, gave me a loaner and replaced the transmission. We went to the mechanic today (car is out of warranty). Apparently, the computer noted when it misfired but didn't pull any codes (doesn't make sense to me!). Point being, in the end, he stated it was a coil pack gone bad, number 1 to be exact. Well, we thought he fixed it and he let the car run for over a half hour-45 minutes and kept testing it, hitting the gas, etc. We thought it was fixed. He claimed he checked all the coil packs and number 1 was the bad one. It better have been for $200! He told me to bring it back if it continues, which we will! But I'd like some idea as to what in the hell is going on! We were driving home and it started doing it again! It's not as bad as before, yet anyway. Does anyone have any suggestions? I bought my 2010 Chevrolet Malibu LT2 in 2010 in the month of June. Well, I have had problems. My car ran hot this year. It has been taken to the dealership like 6 times in less than 2 months. Mind you, when I bought the car, it had about 10,000 miles on it. So, since I have taken it to get the car fixed, the warranty expired - yeah, the 36,000 mile warranty.
After that, the blower has gone out. My car smells like anti-freeze is burning from somewhere. I originally took the car in to have it looked at because the temperature gauge wasn't reading the temperature right. I told them what was wrong with it, but the dealership "Lynn Smith Chevrolet" wanted to fix what they thought was wrong with it. I took it to Auto Zone because the check engine light came on. Now, after the 4th time that I had taken it up there, the car ran hot and the temperature gauge kept dancing while I was driving and the A/C wouldn't work due to the fact that when the temperature gauge would fall to "C" (cool), the air wouldn't work. This was going on before the car ran hot and once it ran hot.
I had the car towed and the car sat at the dealership for 3 days before it was looked at and then I was told that there was nothing wrong with it. Of course, this is really a bunch of baloney, and now that my warranty of 36,000 miles is gone, there is nothing I can do about the blower or the smell of burning anti-freeze. Oh yeah, and the O2 sensor has not gone out as well. What a bunch of cow mess!

I took it in and all the dealer tells you is we can't replicate the noise. Next, it started making a scrapping noise in the front end. I took it to the dealer about both issues. They sprayed a WD40 on the inside of the front tires? It took the noise away for about 1 day and it was back. But worse, the front end issue was never even looked at.
Next, my 2011 Malibu started leaking oil. **! It also started having a whining noise, from the power steering. I took it back in and the dealership couldn't find any problems at all. They sprayed WD40 back on the front end and sent me on my way. The vehicle still has all the problems and there is a NEW noise from the brakes, like a scrapping sound.
I had someone else look at the brakes and everything looks fine. The pads are good and rotors are good too. I contacted GM and that is the biggest joke about this. They don't care about anything that you say. They never return phone calls, the person you talk to won't even give their last name.
The government should have let this ship sink. They don't build quality products and the warranty is a joke. This is the worst vehicle we have ever owned and will get out of it, one way or another. Researching the vehicle myself, I have learned that the voltage regulation of this vehicle is very sloppy! Most problems I have read about can be solved instantly by just replacing the battery on these Malibu vehicles. Until GM upgrades the alternator/voltage regulator, these major problems will continue. My personal opinion is that it is an electrical engineering issue which more than likely has been addressed, but as you know all too well, the bean counters won again. I purchased pre-owned 2009 Malibu with 13,000 miles in it. I was told that the extended warranty I purchased covers the car from bumper to bumper, except normal wear on the car. That was a lie. The insurance warranty company and I started to have major issues with the car. The first problem was after about a year I had the car, and the tires wore unevenly on the outside. Mind you, we always had it serviced, and at the correct tire pressure. Next, the rotors started to warp, and there was a vibration in the front end when the car is at high speed 50-75 speed. We mostly do highway driving.
On the first year, the car incurred 20,000 miles; sometime in the middle of the first year and a half, we had the rotors cut four times and new tires put on. It still did not resolve the vibration issue. I had new brakes put on this April, and I asked them to, please replace the rotors because they were so low, but they refused. So, in July 15 the rotors were replaced, and they were out of warranty by that time-- how nice for GM. I complained about that as well, as the vibration issue continued. They said it was my brand new tires. So, I replaced them again. With the same ones both times that came with the car--FR710. The vibration didn't go away. Two weeks later, I was back to the dealership; the rotors are black, and almost couldn't stop my car on 95 speed. So, they cut the new rotors, and still couldn't find out what is up with the car. They kept the car and changed out the tires with an older set. They said the problem is my tires. Really, now I replaced the second set of new tires with another set, this time I was upgrading and spending more money.
Well, I was back in because it didn't work. So, Carl changed out the tires again with the old ones, and guess what when we went for a drive on the highway? The vibration was still there. We went back to the dealership and I said, “What now?” He said, “We will put your new tires back on, and you can have your keys.” That was it. I was dumb struck. I had never been treated this way before. I had other mechanics observe the vibration, so it's not me, and Carl himself felt it. I at this point contacted the GM customer service. I have been dealing with them and a different dealership (Mall Chevrolet, Cherry Hill, New Jersey). I spoke with mike the service manager about the ongoing issues of the car. The car was there a week and a half again and was realigned. I got it back, and it still has the vibration issue.
Now it is back in the shop, and they are replacing the half shafts for the vibration. Mike called GM engineers, and they said this is a problem they are seeing on the Malibu. The rotors and brake pads are warped again, and it's out of alignment once again. I have to hold the steering wheel to the right to keep it straight. This is the last draw for GM. I will never own another American car again!

I drove my car to the store, came home and parked the car. The next day, I went to start it up and the car would not start. I thought it was the battery, but after taking the battery to the shop to be tested, I was told that there was nothing wrong with the battery.
I then had it towed to another shop thinking it was the starter. Fat chance! I came to find out that the rocker arm broke which in turn froze the engine and damaged everything beside the engine. Now I have to make car payments on a car with 68,000 miles and is ruined.

My complaint is not with the dealership. It is with the powertrain warranty and the 2007 Chevy Malibu that I purchased brand new.
I purchased a 2007 brand new Malibu with only 34 miles on it. First of all, I had to replace my brakes 9 months after I had my car. I was told that it was not under warranty. Then there was something wrong with the steering shaft (I may not be saying it correctly). First of all, I am a female and I don't know much about cars.
Months after that, the CD player went bad and then the motor on my windshield wipers, which, I was told by Pat **, Chevrolet had to pay for. All of this is within 2 years of having my car. Now this year, my tie rod broke and I called the 800 number to inquire if it was under warranty. I was told that I had extended my mileage – that I had only a 60,000 miles warranty. That was incorrect since it was 100,000. They would not accept my claim.
So I just took my car in again and the coils had to be replaced. There are two rods underneath the front end that is located by the struts and those two have to be replaced. I am furious. I was told that these products were not under my warranty and that at that time my warranty mileage was only approved for 60,000 or until August of 2011 – whichever comes first.
My warranty was for 100,000 miles. I purchased this car on the word of Stephen **, who was a manager at the Lordstown, Ohio plant. He died last year of cancer. I was going to purchase a foreign car because before I purchased my Malibu, I had bought a 2006 brand new Cavalier. I had that for only about 1 year when the water pump went out and the electronic sensor started acting up. They told me that I had to pay for it out of my pocket. That was when I decided to go for a foreign car. Until Stephen ** convinced me to give General Motors another chance. That's when I purchase the 2007 Malibu.
I have a Hyundai Elantra that I purchased in 1998 brand new. This car has 198,000 miles. The only thing I replaced was the engine that I got from a junk yard for $300 and I had brakes put on minor work. This Malibu has cost me more money than that Elantra. The auto industry wants us to buy their products but the products are costing us out-of-pocket expenses. I am very upset. As of July 2011, I have paid over $3,000 for repairs for this car. I also have to get shocks and struts put on added to the list of horrors.
I am turning this car in and going foreign again. My trust in American made cars has been damage. I take excellent care of my car – I am the only driver. And to me, I should not have to debate with anyone about my warranty when I know that I had a 100,000 miles power train warranty on my car and not a 60,000 miles warranty. I can't afford to pay cash every time something goes wrong with my car when it is under warranty. I have been over my claim then to be told to take it back to the dealership…

Fuel gauge on my 2006 Malibu 4-cyl fluctuates from Full to Empty several times on different occassions, although gas tank is full. Dealer diagnosed bad fuel sensor. Dealer also found bad throttle body which they replaced applying the emission warranty of 7 years/70,000 miles. However, customer service of Chevrolet Division at GM (800-222-1020) won't approved the fuel sensor replacement, not even goodwill. I talked to a Ureishia. She won't give me her full name saying it's against company policy (huh?).
I told her my car is only 5 years old & less than 40,000 miles. For California, this is very rare as the normal mileage should be around 60,000. Basing on all the cars I have previous owned, this is the first time I have this problems with my fuel sensor. I wanted to bring this problem to higher management but she blocked my request. Later she told me that I already has used up my goodwill with the throttle body replacement so she can't approve it. I told her I have the 7 year/70,000 miles warranty for the throttle body. So the fuel sensor replacement would be the first & only goodwill. But she wouldn't listen to my request & denied my goodwill request. And they expect customer loyalty & repeat business?

Now, it's the engine gaskets. I believe it has eaten through I can't even make it to the end of my street without it overheating. I'm constantly buying coolant, shouldn't they have responsibility for these things even so I've consulted two ase mechanics and three auto part stores. I brought the car to dealership for repairs, and they repaired a loose ground wire. The problem has continued intermittently ever since. I brought the car back to the dealer for the second time. They said, nothing appear to be wrong with it.
The wheel becomes tough to turn every so often, always just when starting up from parked, whether in drive or reverse, then the wheel loosens up, but the power steering warning will continue to appear on the dash info center. Other times, the warning will appear while the car is still in park and the wheel has not even been touched yet, or when driving straight even though the wheel does not tighten up. I am bringing the car back to the dealer for the third time, while it is still under warranty. There are about 60,000 miles on the car, and I have only owned it for 2 months. I have had the car in the shop mulitple times, paid one $100 deductible for first repair attempt, which did not correct the problem. Now, I have to miss work to bring the car in again.

I have always had problems with the power steering locking up mostly on freeway at 65 or higher speeds, but also on regular streets. When accelerating and turning or going straight and pushing on the gas, the steering locks up and all stupid lights come on and here the car ding and the radio says power steering.
Well, finally Chevy sent recall out on power steering so I go get it fixed and it goes out 3 days later and I’m angry. It’s the only car I have for a family of 4 and it sucks. Well, now they are saying it is the ignition coil and they will fix it for free. Then I mean really? If it’s been the problem this whole time, it should have been fixed and done right. Now it’s out of warranty.
You want to say what the real problem is and if that’s the problem at all. I’m not forking out the money for you to fix it after you put a recall on these cars and said you would reimburse me for everything I have paid for the power steering. I have given you proof of every thing and you won’t even give me all my money back. Out of a couple grand you’re going to give me $200.
Okay, well, Chevy: I’m never buying a GM car again. I’m actually going to buy an SUV and it will be Nissan. I’d rather spend my money on something that’s worth it and I’m thinking of buying my Nissan and just not making payments on this Malibu. Sounds like a plan to me. From Laurie of Ledyard, CT, July 30, 2010:
On July 30.2010, we have had our 2010 Chevy Malibu LT less than 60 days. When we drive it on the freeway or side streets (anywhere), the car abruptly slows and revs, while the tachometer shows drastic vacillation of RPMs. The July 19, 2010 service invoice from MJ Sullivan says, "A customer states on highway, vehicle started surging and bucking. Cause: connector partially connected DOC ID 2444545. N6654 Connector reconnection. "
We've had wonderful service and cars from MJ Sullivan for years. This Malibu LT is our 7th car from the dealership. Today, my husband took off from work, took the Malibu to MJ Sullivan's service department. They had him drive around in the car with a rep. The car didn't act as it did yesterday, Thursday, July 29, when my husband and I were traveling in the car. The service people said they couldn't find anything wrong, even though they already gave us the July 19 service invoice stating the car's problem and the service given. So we will take the car in again, when it abruptly slows and revs. Ironically, our On Star diagnostics feature doesn't show anything wrong.

In April 2007 I purchased a 2006 Chevy Malibu from Groth Brothers in Livermore. In Aug 2007 I was having anti-lock system malfunction problems. I took my car down to Bay Bridge Auto, a GMC dealership in Oakland located on Broadway. They could not find what the problem was. Just recently on Aug 20th 0f this year, my whole car shut off just as I got in it, to pull back my power steering locked up. I got my car towed down to Bay Bridge Auto.
I thought it was the power steering, because General Motors just sent me a letter in the mail in regards to the power steering, but it wasn't, it was my anti lock system. Again, the service rep named Barbara **, informed me of that. She also said that I would have to bring down a new battery, so they could fully diagnose the problem, whatever was going on, it was draining my battery.
So on Saturday, Aug 21st, I bought a battery, but I drove my car home with my old battery in my car, and took it to an independent repair on Monday morning close to home, because I could not afford to pay $150, just to have GM look at my car. I called GM customer service, Monday or Tuesday, to make them aware of the problem, and to see if I could get reimbursed. Karrina the rep stated no, because I did not get my car fixed at GM.
I feel this is not fair to me as a valuable customer, because I have receipts to show what was done, and that it was the anti lock system malfunctioning, and me and my kids were in the car that day. We could have gotten into a very bad accident, and possibly lost our life. This car had this problem when I purchased it, that is why I took it to GM in Aug of 2007, when I noticed right away. I think something should be done as a GM customer. I feel this is poor customer service.
I spent a total of $465.00 to get my car fixed. I had to walk, catch bart, use taxi, and catch the bus for 5 days, in 90 degrees of heat. I am a single parent and to not be compensated, is a let down.

On December 2005 I bought a 2006 Malibu Maxx only because I had a Malibu Maxx as a rental because a deer landed on the roof of my Ford Ranger as I was driving up a hill. I had the Malibu Maxx for 3 weeks and fell in love with it. Sold the Ford Ranger and bought a 2006 Malibu Maxx. Ten months later in October 2007 I had to take the car back to the dealer because the noise in the front was so bad I thought the front end was going to fall apart. They replaced the Intermediate Shaft at no cost. Then every once in a while the steering would bind up then it would stop for a while and then do it again. Then it started to be more frequent.
Then by October or November 2009 the noise started again in the front end. Now the car is out of warranty. My Brother is a mechanic and was able to get the Intermediate Shaft at his cost (he still hasn't told how much, just says it was not cheap). The steering also started to lock-up more frequently. Now you hear a ticking noise coming from the left side of the dashboard, and the chime, all the ** lights light up, and the DIC show "Power Steering". My problem is not at low vehicle speed or when stopped. It happens when you’re accelerating to pull away from a light and turning to the left or right, the car tries to turn in the opposite direction. You never know when it's going to happen. Sometimes you hear the chime and see "Power steering" but no locking up of the steering. June 18th there was an accident.
July 18th I got the car back. Aug 3rd I e-mailed GM about the problem. August 4th I received a phone call from customer’s service at GM. They would call me back; they called on August 18th to say they had an investigator that would be calling me to schedule an appointment to check the car. That happened on August 20th. He sent his report to GM and GM customer service called me August 28th to tell me the investigator didn't find anything wrong and there weren't any codes for the steering problem. So they are not fixing the car. I told customer service I will never buy a Chevy again. I'll go back to Ford. Had the truck for 8 years, only had to do normal maintenance on the truck?
I had to replace a bearing twice in the split drive shaft $40 each time. Accident happened when my son went off the side of the road slightly and when he tried to turn the steering wheel to miss hitting a telephone pole head on the steering locked up, by the time the steering let loose the car side swiped the pole from the front fender to the rear of the car. Over $6000.00 from my insurance, and my deductible and car rental was about $900.00 out of pocket.

This is main concern 1: Vehicle was purchased in July 2009. I was informed by OnStar when I arrived at home from dealership that there was an open recall on vehicle since March 2009: The recall is for when the vehicle is in Park, it is actually in neutral. The transmission shifter cable recall was opened and fix provided in March 2009. I returned to dealership to repair the vehicle for the recall. The safety recall was open and not repaired while it was sitting on dealership lot for four months! I was sold the car with an open safety recall. Clearly GM has safety on their mind!
Here is 2nd main concern 2: On visit 2, the transmission was harsh shifting when accelerating from slowdown and repair was attempted with software update. As I drove off the lot, vehicle would not shift out of third gear and would accelerate into deceleration / automatic downshifting. The vehicle was dangerous to drive and returned immediately to dealership for repair.
On visit 3, "the transmission software update failed due to modules waking up transmission computer during update. Only partial software update was applied." Transmission software updates reprogram was successful this time by disconnecting all transmission components to allow for successful update. The software platform on my vehicle has a bug where updates must be made with the undocumented process of disconnecting everything? Is this a pre-production build vehicle?
On visit 4, after the transmission software update, there was harsh downshifting at decelerations. I brought in again, "Normal for 'LTZ Sports Package' Malibu. " I'm using the six-speed, 'smooth-shifting' automatic transmission!
On visit 5, harsh downshifting intensifies so I brought it in again. The transmission valve body and transmission computer were replaced. It looks like this is not a software glitch anymore.
On Visit 6, it was harsh shifting in traffic, violent acceleration and decelerations. The transmission is in repair again, 14 days in repair and going.
There are other Indications of Chevrolet Vehicle low build quality and reasons my vehicle is a lemon with more visits for other repairs.
I called GM and have been put through a multitude of managers for the past month. My current GM case manager told me that I had to pay for the vehicle use at current mileage, after all of the repairs under warranty at earlier mileage. Today, they are offering an estimated amount and refuse to send me a written confirmation or offer. They estimate what I will get back and cannot proceed further or have a higher manager assist me. They also refuse to refund the registration renewal I just paid while the vehicle was in service.
GM should instead pay me for my lost time at work and for selling me not only a lemon, but a car that was unsafe at purchase with an open safety recall for four months before I bought it. And GM should not rob me after I saved it with my taxes. I asked for a replacement car, but now I am demanding a full refund, including my recent car registration renewal.
If any news reporters are interested in taking my case, please let me know. The vehicle is only a year old and has been in the shop for a month with too many safety issues! Avoid GM at all costs! Off to the BBB I go.

I received a letter from GM stating that the ETS is a problem and that I can take it to a dealership and have it repaired at no cost. However, it has to be under 10 years old or under 100,000 miles. My car is 5 years old but has less than 110,000 miles on it.
And it has been acting up for months so my claim is being denied. And they are quoting me $1200 to fix the problem! I am a single mother of three children. Two years ago, I decided to purchase a 2005 Malibu, a safe family car. The car had 30,000 miles when I bought it. I thought this is worth working two jobs for, vehicle security! Yeah what a joke. I have had nothing but problems since I bought it. First, the day I drove it off the lot, the mirror visor broke, the driver seat started bouncing that broke. The CD play started making really funny noises and ran the batteries down. The only way to make that stop was to pull the fuse.
I replaced the batteries because I had been stranded at least ten times within the first year. The back passenger door won't open, they said something broke inside the door, the CD player went completely out and I can't get on the Freeway because you have to increase your speed and turn at the wheel at the same time. I'm not sure what's going on with the power steering. It looks like I'm not the only one with this problem. Even if I do get on with out killing myself, kids or anyone else. I can't drive because it feels like the tires going to fall off.
For some reason, I keep getting a flat tire on the front passenger side. I don't know maybe it’s me but I never seemed to have this problem with my Maxima. I had to replace the front breaks then the back and about three months later, it sounds like they need to be replaced again. The headlights won't go off, I have to pull the fuse every time just to turn the lights off, I keep getting the batteries light coming on so it looks like I'm going to have to replace this again. Traction control light keeps coming on. I thought it had something to do with the breaks but got those fixed and still have the light on. I'm not sure how big of a problem this is but I was pulling out of my driveway today and my light happened to say something like engine shutting down.
Well, it looks like several others have had the same problems I have and GM has done nothing for us, the tax payers who bailed them out! But the engine shutting down is really a blessing. I guess I would rather not see my children because I work two jobs to payoff a car that doesn't work than bury one because we couldn't turn or the engine just happened to shut down while driving down the road. Good thing, I believe hard times only make you stronger. I just can't wait to get this paid off so I can go back to Nissan! Oh yeah, GM, I appreciate your support. I hope you appreciate mine!

Not too bad to replace until they found 8 of 16 rods were bent while the timing chain wasn't working properly. The only fix was $2000 for a used engine or $1700 for a new cylinder head. It was suggested I get the new engine.
It is the same problem as I read on all the blogs about the timing chain going out at high speeds and kicks out when I try to speed up and it pulls hard to the side which will cause an accident some time I am sure. So why hasn't it been recalled like the Cobolt and other Gm models? They want us to pay $600 to $1500 out of our pockets, which is ridiculous. I can't afford to pay that kind of money. 2008 Malibu LTZ broke down of Interstate 95 late Sat afternoon at mile marker 212 on 7/10. "Engine Powering Down" light on and temp gauge hot. I pulled off road to shoulder and called Onstar/Roadside Assistance. The car was towed to nearest dealer, Cocoa Beach FL about 10 miles away. Service Dept closed at 1 pm, and breakdown happened about 4 pm. Sales manager told me no car rental place opened at this time, and printed out copy of "trip interruption clause" since I was over 100 miles from my destination, my home.
I left the car at the dealer for repairs, and the car could not be looked at until Monday AM. I took taxi to a hotel on Cape Canaveral, since car rental places there would be open Sun AM, and stayed at the hotel overnight. Next AM, took taxi to car rental place and rented a vehicle which I returned Wed AM. Dealer took me to car rental office to return rental and took me back dealer to pick up my car on Wed AM. Service Manager was very professional, and explained that my cooling fan broke apart as I was driving on Interstate 95 and went into radiator, destroying it. He explained that this was a rate occurrence, and that this repair was covered under my GMPP. I submitted hotel and meal, taxi (2 trips), car rental and car gas to GMPP, totaling $365, and I received only $89 covering car rental.
When I called to inquire, I was told my policy only covered car rental. I called the dealership where I purchased vehicle and explained that I was told by the repairing dealership and given a copy of the language that stated I would be covered for trip interruption for hotel, meal and car rental. GMPP told me that only later policies cover trip interruption. Since I bought my '08 in Dec 07 (when the model first came out). Local dealer mentioned that trip interruption was added retroactively to policies and that he was going to check w/Chevrolet (vs. checking w/GM) about this. I feel that under the extenuating circumstances, I had no choice but to stay over 1 night until I could obtain car rental. This should be covered. GMPP only reimbursed me for car rental, even though my policy states bus/or taxi also covered. I spoke to Cheryl at GMPP and she would not agree that taxi/bus are also covered, even though language states it is.
I am seeking to be reimbursed for difference between what I was reimbursed-$89.20 and what I paid-$365.19. Vehicle was towed to Bob Steele Chevrolet-Cocoa Beach, and vehicle was purchased at Bill Schultz Chevrolet, Ft. Piercel, FL.

My car has been leaking in the back passenger side floor board for months. After a couple trips to the Chevrolet dealer (Team Chevrolet and they were good to work with), they discovered a defect. When the car is parked with the nose higher than level, rain somehow gets through the AC into the passenger side back floorboard. Team Chevrolet did the work and ate half of it-thank you. GM refused to pay the other half. Someone else brought in a Malibu the same time with the same problem. The internet is full of Malibu leak problems. So much for Car of the Year!

I bought a 2001 Chevy Malibu new. I have replaced the control module for the speed/temp/a/c, heat etc (7) times. This is definitely a factory defect although Chevy will not admit or make another improved part. I know several others who have the same problem, Chevy just keeps collecting the $260 every time you have to replace it. By the way, I live in Florida and if you do not replace it you have no air conditioning which is pretty hard to deal with in the summer. Come on, Chevy, own up to the problem and make it right!

On July 30, 2010, we have had our 2010 Chevy Malibu LT less than 60 days. When we drive it on the freeway or side streets (anywhere, okay), the car abruptly slows and revs, while the tachometer shows drastic vacillation of RPMs.
We are making monthly payments on an almost 2 month young Chevy Malibu LT, that's making us a hazard to ourselves and other drivers, when it abruptly slows and revs, even though we're pressing on the gas pedal.

I have taken it to the dealers who have recommended replacing the power steering unit. I have, at times, had multiple codes come in at a particular time. The troubleshooting I have done so far strongly indicates that the leaking trunk and electrical problems are related. Inspection of the electrical connections throughout the cab appear to be corroded. Additionally, electronic devices that are left in the car closed up in the sun for extended periods of time show corrosion.

It is the same problem as I read on all the blogs about the power steering going out at high speeds and kicks out when I try to speed up. And it pulls hard to the side. It will cause an accident some time, I am sure. So why hasn’t it been recalled like the Cobalt and other GM models? They want us to pay $600 to $1500 out of our pockets, which is ridiculous. I can't afford to pay that kind of money. GM needs to step up and call these cars in for repair and it needs to hit the airways like the Toyotas.

I have a 2005 Chevy Malibu, and have loved the car since we got it in 2006. I believe it had 30,000 miles on it and it had always done funny electrical stuff but it was used so I didn't think much about it.
I noticed about three years ago was that the brakes were done and anytime it was wet out, they would squeal which is quite embarrassing; my husband assured me they were okay. First thing was locks on driver's side quit working; I have to reach over and use the passenger side, but it is beginning to go out. I figured it was because of wear and tear. Sometimes the driver's window won't go up. I had issues with the trunk leaking and hubby figured that was why we kept having to replace the back light bulb but after reading everyone's maybe there is an electrical issue. The CD player has quit in the last year which was barely used. Speakers only work at the back once in a while, very temperamental, and not the really major issue, the theft light is now coming on and making the car quit.
Hubby was stranded in another town so we went to get him and towed ourselves. Luckily, after a few days of sitting, it restarted after someone checked it with the computer thing which showed no codes, so hubby was baffled. It worked for a few more months, then we all got stranded at a lake and waited about four hours and had someone coming to get us which was about hour and half from home, and then he saw the theft light flashing and decided to try leaving it, on the on position and it started. We never got a manual with it because it was used. It worked til the next morning when I had to take him to his Army AIT departure. He called a dealer and they said that there are lots of problems with that on Malibus and told us to do the thing for about five minutes and it will reset. It worked.
It has been working for the last two weeks and my son takes the car to the pool and it does it to him; now it won't start at all. I plan on going back later and seeing if it will start. This is ridiculous and it scares me to drive it because some of the complaints say that it has stopped on them going down the road. Something must be done before someone really gets hurt and I don't want it to be in my family. We can't trade and it is our only decent vehicle, or I should say was. I still like Chevy but I will not buy a Malibu again and really would like to get rid of it but it is almost paid for. Luckily, my hubby knows vehicles but it doesn't help with this issue. So he knew it wasn't the gas pump or any of those other things that everyone has spent mega money on. Please get GM to do something!
My stress level is sky high! So far, no funds but only because my hubby has yet to figure out how to fix it. I do not want to take it out-of-town which sucks for my family because we live in a small town and it is our only good car.

I’m a girl so I don’t know too much about cars to begin with; anyway they sold me the car for $800. It was too good to be true. They were getting deployed and had no time to do smog check so they discounted $150 from the car. Well it didn’t pass, and the car has been given me loads of problems no. All of the antifreeze would leak out through the bottom of the car! Well I had to replace an ignition coil, spark plugs and reservoir for coolant. It also had a brownish tinge on it.
My car has still not passed smog and I’m fearful of driving it every day with my 2 small children in this blistering central California heat! I recently had my boyfriend just put water in the car instead of antifreeze because it was getting expensive to have to replace it ever-so-often and the car has stopped leaking. Could this be because of the dexcool? I was on disability from having my daughter so I had little $$ and had to put $300 of maintenance into the car, and I’m taking it to get a diagnostic today b/c my engine lite has been on for some time, and that’s going to cost me a couple hundred more!

After taking my car in, I double checked that this fix would be free and the guy said that it wouldn't be because it had already been fixed under the recall once before and they wanted to charge me over 400 dollars to fix it! I find it hard to believe that GM has yet to recall any vehicle built with EPS (Electronic Power Steering). After many appointments with our auto shop, the problem finally came to a head when the system died. Of course, it died on the highway going 60. How many accidents can be attributed to this junk component? How many injuries or deaths will it take GM to "stand up" to this faulty part. My mechanic thought that the component was on "recall", but research shows that they have not identified the "Malibu" as one of the vehicles outfitted with this EPS system. After reading all the complaints and blogs about the EPS System, I am convinced that the Malibu is suffering from the same symptoms as the Cobalt and other vehicles identified in the recall.
Where do I go from here? I have spent a lot of time and money getting this problem repaired. I feel there should be some retribution, even if it's GM admitting that they have a problem.

I bought a 2008 Malibu LT in January. Unfortunately, I decided not to purchase the extended warranty. At first, I was really happy with it. It looked great and drove really well. Fairly soon after buying it, I had to take it back to have an evaporative sensor switched out, no big deal. Later, I noticed there were some minor problems with the power lock on the rear passenger side window. Again, not a huge problem since it rarely malfunctions.
On a couple of occasions, the driver's side door latch mechanism has locked up and I had to open and close it a few times to get it to engage. All of this I could deal with. However, a couple of times while shifting out of park into Drive or Reverse, it has bucked noticeably. I haven't been too happy with that and have been monitoring that. Most recently, the car is randomly bogging down just for a fraction of a second. It feels like a little mini downshift but it doesn't really correspond with times when the transmission is switching gears. I have noticed this frequently while traveling anywhere from 40 to 75 mph.
I dumped a bottle of fuel injector cleaner in and switched to premium gasoline and it may have stopped, for the most part. In any case, I've been pretty easy on the car myself and it only had 45,000 miles on it when I got it. I'm running out of patience with this vehicle. It's starting to make me a bit on edge. I had a 2000 Malibu for several years and it was a tough little car. Most customer feedback on newer Malibus seems to be positive. I've had pretty good luck with cars in the past. I purchased this car in Aug. of 2007 with only 22,000 miles on it. I got the Car Fax which indicated 'no problems.' Prior to buying it, I looked at many sites online. All stated that this was a very good and reliable car, right! I am disabled and have to have a reliable car, which this seemed to be. I had no problems for over 2 yrs. except that the heat gauge seemed to always run a bit hot. I was told 'not to worry' about that, that many cars run above the 1/2 way mark. I was also told that the car would get approx. 21 mpg in the city and more on highway. I have averaged 15 mpg and now it is down to 13 mpg.
In Dec. of '09 I suddenly could not start the car, I thought it was the battery as I still had the original one. I ended up going to a repair shop 1/2 mile from my home, since towing was $100 up-front and then $15 for each addition mile. This repair shop has an excellent reputation, but they charge a fortune. It turned out it was the ignition coil and battery, cost me about $750. That's nice when on a fixed income! I had mentioned to the manager that I have to keep putting coolant in at least monthly, yet I have never seen a leak under car. He did not know what was wrong and since I am still making car payments and had just gotten hit with this repair and towing (they charged $115 for tow), I did not have further diagnostic work done as they said it wasn't necessary. The car was 'fine'. I have put gallons of coolant in this car and I've only put on 6,000 mi. since I bought it.
I finally saw an article in a news magazine that GM had this problem with all their cars due to the coolant that they used in manufacturing, Dex-Cool, and that there had been a class action suit w/ Dex-Cool. Of course, I found this out after the closing date to file a suit. On Memorial Day of this year, I went to a cook-out at friend's home. The drive was all uphill, as they live on top of a mountain close by. The coolant light indicator came on once again. I finally made it to their home after the car strained very much going uphill. I waited for the car to cool down, and since I always carry coolant with me due to this problem, I filled the reservoir and followed the instructions. I went back to be w/ friends and felt secure that I would get home safely since I now had coolant in car.
I got home with no problem, but my friend called and said her husband found a huge puddle of coolant in his driveway and I better have the car checked. I was worried about the animals out there eating the coolant but her husband had already cleaned the whole area. On Tuesday, I started calling GM dealerships to get an idea of what the problem could be. I also called repair shops; all had the same answer: the Dex-Cool has ruined the intake manifold and gasket, do not drive the car unless absolutely necessary.
The brakes also were acting strange and not gripping. I know it has to be pads & rotors. This whole repair will cost well over $1500 that I have to borrow. I called GM to no avail. They should've sent recalls to everyone who purchased their defective cars, all models. All the supervisor did was say it is my problem, not GM's! I need transportation for medical reasons and I cannot walk for more than a few feet. GM is at fault and should pay for all repairs related to above problems. They knew the Dex-Cool ruined the engines, yet did nothing for the consumers. Never again will I get a GM vehicle. Now I'm in real debt for a worthless car & still making car payments as well as repairs. This is immoral of GM & I feel, illegal. They should've done recalls on all cars affected, They are at fault.

Our insurance didn't even pay the fire department. The fire report lists our loss to be $4,000. We called GM and the car sat for almost 3 weeks at a junk yard. We had to surrender the title and pay $240 in storage fees. GM admitted responsibility, but because of filing bankruptcy, they were under no obligation to reimburse us. The power windows and AC don't work, until 10 minutes after starting the car. I believe it's the ignition switch that is faulty. The dealers are not the place to go for help, only to overpay for parts and labor, and be lied to.
They want $600 to replace my ignition switch. I can get the part on eBay for about $85, and I know a mechanic who will put it in for about $75. The ignition then needs to be "programmed", which is simply turn the key to on-wait for 10 minutes, then turn it off, then on-wait for 10 minutes, then off, then again for the third time, turn that key to on-wait for 10 minutes, and then start the car. For repairs, try to Google the problem. Read up on it, look for parts on the internet, and find a local mechanic to do the work. Most importantly, if you have a Chevy Malibu, sell it now and save yourself a lot of trouble with brakes, coolant leaks, erratic engine, and electrical nightmares.
