Ford F-150 Lariat 5.4 Super crew - I bought this beautiful truck used with 60,000 miles on it. Around the 100,000 mile mark I blew the transmission. At this point I just took it for what it was and was not to upset because it did have a decent amount of mileage on it. However, a year later it went out again. Now I was a little upset. I'm $6,000 in the hole. Originally I thought the mechanic had done a bad repair but it was past the warranty and I had to pay for it myself again. 6 months later it went out AGAIN. Now it’s becoming a Ford issue. This time it crapped out in Nashville but I got a decent deal on the repair. So I'm back on the road and everything seems fine. Not 2 months later it goes out AGAINNNNNN, luckily the last repair was still under warranty. Turns out this time the Rear Planetary gear imploded. At this point I'm so furious I can't put it into words. I drove it home 300 miles and what do you know it starts making a crazy racket under the hood.

Needless to say I plan on selling it to the local mechanic soon for a fraction of what I paid for it. The ford dealership I bought it from wants nothing to do with it and offered no help or reimbursement. A truck with 120,000 miles can be forgiven if the transmission fails once but 4 times within a 60,000 mile period is absurd and Ford should be held liable. Our family has bought close to 10 Ford vehicles over time but I guarantee you I WILL AND THEY WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER FORD VEHICLE AGAIN... EVERRR.

We usually have 6 vehicles at once within my immediate family. All of which were Fords. Now we don't have a single one other than my truck that I'm getting rid of immediately. Side note - My dad bought a 2007 F-150 (Brand New) and the engine locked up after 2 years, rendering it useless and traded it in for 7,000 when he had previously bought it for $40,000. Again ford offered no help. The truck was only 4 years old at that point with 50,000 miles on it!

I'll admit ford's a great company BUT only when they made old trucks. I have a 1977 ford f150 and it's 38 years old. Have never I repeat never had a problem with it but now? I also have a 2003 ford f150. It's only 12 years old and only has 86000 miles on it and I changed the transmission twice.. the fluid was low and was slipping for 1 day so I brought it to auto zone, filled it with new fluid and now all my forward gears are burned up... thanks ford! The only ford I'll be driving now is that old truck and nothing else.

I've driven Ford F-Series for the past 35 years and I've never has an issue that I would call normal wear and tear, but the 2004 F150 that I purchased in 2006 was the same until I hit 100k miles. The ignition coils started going out one by one at $140.00 a pop (parts and labor). Most recently at 107000 miles I pull up to a light and it starts to misfire and the check engine light comes on. $275.00 later I found that this is common for this motor to lose oil pressure without any indication due to the CAM Phaser and oil passage ways getting clogged.

I maintain my routine oil changes every 3k miles and was not due for an oil change when this happened for another oil change for about 1k more mile. Two mechanics later and the ford dealer later I'm being told I need a new motor at approx. $6000.00. What the heck is this- I'm very disappointed in Ford for not owning up to their error and letting dedicated customer foot the bill. SHAME ON YOU FORD!!! You just lost a customer.

2008 Ford F150 - Purchased this truck new and at 85000 miles that cam phaser issues began. I love fishing and use this truck to tow my boat. I cannot even back my truck down the ramp without it stalling. It is fine when it is cold but once it warms up the phasers fail. They work upon oil pressure and when truck is warm so is the oil, and that is when oil is too lean to engage phaser. Truck idles rough until rpms are high enough to disengage phasers influence on engine timing. Ford knows about this problem and seems to not care enough about us consumers to recall the engines and fix the issue. They have lost my business and will never buy another Ford!

I have a 2007 F-150 SuperCab with a 4.6 engine. This truck has been the biggest lemon of a truck I have ever owned. At 104000 miles the water cross over on the intake manifold cracked at the plastic to aluminum connection requiring replacement of the intake manifold. Then the plastic covers that cover the seat belt connections in the ceiling broke off. At 105000 the alternator went bad and had to be replaced. Now the truck has 109000 miles on it and the instrument panel circuit board has gone bad causing all the idiot lights to stay on. I have talked to the dealer I bought the truck from and they deny Ford has had any problems with any of the repairs I have had to make. I will never own another Ford truck. Youtube is covered up with people who are having the same problems I have had.

Truck lost power, engine light came on. Truck was towed to Ford dealer in Avon, NY. Was notified that the engine was blown and had to be ripped down to find out why. Findings were fuel injectors locked open which caused the engine failure. Ford agreed to pay for the work to rebuild the engine. That took 2 weeks. Called service dept when the truck was supposed to be ready and they informed me that they just noticed that the catalytic converter was melted.

Really after rebuilding the whole engine they didn't notice this problem? Now they have to get Ford's approval again. Ok got approval for the work. Now it's been 1 week and they don't even have the parts. Service manager says, "Have no idea when the part will be here. It could be 2 or 3 weeks." What? Called Ford customer care. They started a case file and would call me in 2 or 3 business days.

I have had a rental car now for 4 weeks @ 225 per week. Getting really pissed at all these delays. Oh yeah the service manager tried to pass the blame of the engine failure and converter melting on my lack of noticing the engine light and driving it too long with all these issues. Funny couldn't drive it over 5 miles an hour to get it off the road. Why is it so hard for service to take the blame? Ford has a major problem, not just with this engine but with their service and supplies.

Drove my truck 4 hours with no indication of parking it. Going out to run a few errands thank goodness I drove my company car. Received a phone call to tell me my Ford is on fire in my driveway. Upon getting home it was a total loss. After going back to the fire dept that is less 2 blocks away from my home the chief states that's the 3rd Ford they have put out in the last 2 months. Someone somebody needs to hold this company liable for everyone's loss. Needless to say the statement is all are basically burned beyond the finger pointing. I also invested in a new crate engine less than 9 months ago because Ford has a faulty cam phasers that they know and have redesigned but you have to purchase an engine or salvage the truck. Horse crap Ford knows they have an issue, they need to own up to it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It acted like it was a speed alarm. At 70 it began intermittently but as I approached 80 it became a steady sound. Since then, the alarm does not always sound, but yesterday, the sound started at about 60 rather than 70 or 80. Speed at which the alarm sounds is inconsistent. Dealer has never heard of this.

I purchased a 07 ford f150. Within 24 hrs of having the vehicle the check engine light came on. We took it back to where we bought it from and they said couldn't find anything wrong with it but thought maybe the spark plugs. Tested them and changed one and reset the check engine light. We took it home and had it for another day and the light came back on so we went back again. This time they said it was a hole burnt in the 3rd cylinder. They replaced the cylinder and now after several times of going back to have the check engine light checked they said "We can't find anything wrong with it. You will have to wait until something drastic happens and then we will take a look at it."

Well of course something drastic did happen but of course when we took it back they wouldn't do anything because we were no longer covered under the warranty. So the ticking and chugging and the engine finally died and now we need a new engine and we work hard for our money so making payments on a truck that we can't drive because it no longer runs, and can't afford a new engine, and can't get enough money out of it from a sell in order to pay the piece of junk off! Ford is unwilling to work with anyone with the problems that the Ford F150 is having. When we finally are able to get rid of this piece of crap we definitely will never buy another ford. This should be a recall item.

I looked up, in the consumers affair, and needed assist., dealing with a clicking noise coming from under the hood. I took it to a reputable mechanic, well known one in fact. He took the mtr. head off, thinking it was a noisy valve. Put it back together, still clicking, sounding like a diesel, got louder as time went by, and he phoned me saying he still couldn't figure what was wrong. So I typed in the problem, on the consumer affairs web, and came upon a number of complaints dealing with the same model and noise problem. Come to find out Ford knew they had a problem with this noise, a bulletin was printed, it covers the 04 to 06 model F-150.

I phoned the mechanic, told him what I found out, and further investigated, and I had a worn out hydraulic lifter, plus a worn out cam phaser. He replaced both of 'em plus the two timing chains, just in case I had further problems. It worked! Then I had an electrical problem, it was one of the CAPS arching. That was replaced, total for both repairs - $4,000.00. Phoned Ford Hq., they wouldn't even consider assisting me in any way shape or form!

Come to find out, the way they built that model engine, they did not put a large enough hole ID in the block to allow more oil to get to the hydraulic lifters! And Ford knew about it! As I remember from the days years ago, FORD stands for Found On Road Dead. I will never ever buy another ford product. Thank God I got rid of it!

Purchased vehicle used with 40k miles. At 60k miles the vehicle began to stumble and miss, also made a rattling noise when starting after sitting overnight. Took in under extended warranty to dealer, replaced intercooler as per ford TSB. Was told the famous line by service "could not replicate" the rattling noise on start up. About 1k miles later vehicle began stumble again. Took back to dealer, complained again of rattling on start up as well as stumble on acceleration. Was told the plugs were badly worn. (Service manual says these plus are 100k items) Dealer replaced and again told could not replicate start up noise. Found out later the plugs eroded early most likely as a result of water in cylinder due to the bad intercooler. Third time at 80k took to dealer rattling on start up in morning was getting louder. This time I had a video with sound and showed the dealer. Again was told could not replicate the sound.

Truck now has 100k and noise is very noticeable and I found on internet a TSB-14-0194 Ford issued regarding prematurely stretched timing chains making noise on cold soak start ups. Contacted Ford and received the following response to my request that they fix my truck as the issue was reported while vehicle was under warranty:

I am from Ford’s Customer Relationship Center (CRC). I have reviewed your email regarding the concerns on your 2011 Ford F-150. I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. I have checked our resources and verified that there are no factory warranties, recalls or programs in effect on your vehicle that would provide assistance for your current concern. I suggest that you keep your repair receipts in case Ford initiates a recall or Customer Satisfaction Program in the future. Furthermore, a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) is a supplement to a vehicle's repair manual and does not suggest nor provide additional coverage. Coverage of any repair is determined by eligibility under the provisions of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, a Customer Satisfaction Program or a Recall. PS dealer is saying this is a $4k + repair.

I must say I can no longer recommend purchasing a Ford truck.

I have always had Ford vehicles and usually love the quality. But recently, I have been quite aggravated that the design of the 1998 Ford truck seems to create issues. I have had to replace the heater core in this truck twice in just over a year. The cost of this was over $1000.00 each time not to mention I had to go without my truck for a week to get it done! I am also very frustrated to see that Ford has done nothing to change this design problem and the consumers are left to pay the cost for something that could be corrected by design. All I have to do is type in Ford heater core problem and see all of the other unsatisfied Ford owners, yet I see no response from Ford on their problem. In addition to my problem, my daughter-in-law is currently driving her Ford around with no heat in Ohio because she cannot afford the repair and cannot miss a week of work waiting on the Ford dealership to fix it.

2014 Ford F-150 shift cable broke with 3,700 miles on the truck. Ford has had the truck for about 2 weeks now. Had issues with the cable they first ordered, I was told the clip was wrong and they needed to order another one. Today I was told the vendor has stopped shipment of the cable for quality control hold. They gave me the option of removing a cable from a new in stock truck. And installing it into mine. From what I can tell they are having some issues with the cable and I didn't want to have the same thing happen again so I took the option of waiting for the quality control hold. When the cable broke, the shifter was stuck in the park position but the indicator showed drive while the display showed manual mode.

In 2010, I purchase a new F150 - XLT - 4X4 - Crew Cab, in which now has 104,000 miles - it has 1 minor and 2 major problem. FYI, the General maintenance has always been accomplished. The primary use of this vehicle is being use only as my personal vehicle and towed my boat no more than 8 times over that past years and weighs no more than 2,000 lbs. It has the towing package…

First issue - Since new, this truck shuttered when accelerating from a complete stop... The fix was to lubricate the slip yoke at the ends of the drive shaft. This fix was done two different times. This fix didn't last long and it was again brought in for repair. The third time is where they said the truck had a frozen suspension and the use a spacer to resolve this problem. Still to this day it has a slight shutter…

Second issue - About 95,000 miles the rear-end started making humming noises under a load, so I took it to the Ford Dealer and they told me I needed the bearings replaced and it's no longer under warranty. In which I couldn't afford at the time so I started budgeting for this repair. This repair was going to cost me approximately $1,500.00.

Third and last issue - Now, while driving upstate NY this past weekend about 240 mile away from my home in NJ, there was no problem at all just the same old humming in the rear-end. The following day I drove it about 4 miles into town and on the way back doing about 55 miles per hour it began to run rough and the engine light came on and lost power… Now Sunday, I had a mechanic look at the codes and it had numerous cylinders with ignition failure all on the passenger side. The mechanic and I momentarily started the motor and shut it off immediately and he stated it needs the timing chains replace and it’s possible it has bent valves. Now after talking with the mechanic today it’s worse in what he thought and that the cam roller seized which now at the best needs a new head. He's not too sure on what the cylinder look like, and to see that the head need to be removed. IT DOES NOT LOOK GOOD. Yes, I was just informed that one piston head is broken. I guess it need a motor...

So, I'm sorry to say this, but since 1999 I've purchase two foreign made trucks and the first I bought new which had 289,000 miles before selling it and the other 275,000 miles before trading it in with a foreign car never experiencing these kind of problems. I traded-in 2 foreign vehicles - a car and truck thinking this was the best way to go buying American made Ford and it was advertised as having a reputation of being reliable and dependable and a leader in its class. Now, I'm in despair!

Thank goodness on Monday my friend drove me back to NJ - a round trip for him 480 miles plus tolls... Now, I have to rent a vehicle and it’s probable not getting my truck back for at least 3 week. I still owe about $8,000.00 and I at my last whit I can't wait to see this bill… FORD - Fix Or Repair Daily or FOUND ON ROAD DEAD!

We purchased our 2007 Ford F-150 new 7 years ago. After about a year, we heard a pinging noise from under the hood. Took it to the Ford dealer, they said it was normal, don't worry about it. Over the years and asking different Ford dealers, they all said don't worry. Well after 7 years, $30,000 plus paid for the truck, garage kept, oil changes made and only 60,000 miles on it, the engine is no good. Ford refuses to do anything about it because we didn't buy the extended warranty. She told me even if we did, doesn't mean it would be covered. Our truck is now parked in the garage while we decide if we want to put $6,000 into a new engine installed. Good bye Ford, we'll be shopping elsewhere!

Had that repaired warranty and continued with self done oil changes every 3000 miles and brought in to shop for significant service (60,000) and had full-on service. New tires at 76,000 give or take and then the tranny clutch packs come apart. Have replaced with reman tranny at shop, continue oil changes myself. Ticking noise becomes apparent on left side (from standing in front of) which I research as cam phaser(s). Ask a couple mechanics, they say you can change but noise may not stop.

Some mechanics give up on this repair as it digs them into a hole with customers. Continue on at 107,000, have a significant noise ticking, stops but power all gone and check engine light comes on. Bring to shop and 7 plus grand for new motor. I am told entire ticking side of motor is at 20% compression. Really have no choice but to fix or tow for scrap iron which probably won't cover cost of tow. 3-year warranty on reman engine then will be buying ANYTHING BUT A FORD EVER AGAIN.

Even the trained Customer Service Representatives at the Original Dealership were like trained response monkeys. Engine was replaced and got the truck back - nothing special in warranty. Ford said it was either the CAM Phaser or a new engine. Are you kidding me! I had the CAM Phaser replaced at a local trusted shop, and that didn't fix it (so far $800). They disconnected a crank sensor and the truck purred like a kitten. Since the ck engine light was still on, I took it back to the local Ford dealership. They replaced some solenoids, didn't fix it. Had to hand it over to a super-duper mechanic and he determined that the engine was oil starved. No indications on the gauges that I had either high or low oil pressure. Of course all warranties were expired, even the extended one on the CAM Phaser. Go figure.... Built Ford Tough? Not so much anymore, used to be a good truck. Going to another truck. When I first received the truck it had nearly 120,000 miles on it and I used it for a decent commute once a week (I was working on a ranch and once a week I would visit family in Denver). About 10,000 miles ago my check engine light came on I began to feel a miss. Getting this light read said that one of my plugs wasn't firing and I should change it. Removing the coil showed that oil had seeped into the space where is the spark plug connects to the coil causing it to short and not fire. I removed the oil, changed the spark plug and checked all of the other coil connections as well; nearly all of them had some amount of oil. Not enough to cause misses, but enough to concern me. All were cleaned and replaced.

This fixed the miss and I continued on my merry way. A little while later it began to miss again. We did the same thing, we had done and decided that maybe the valve cover gasket needed replacing. It took a while for the store to get us the right gaskets but we finally replaced the driver side gasket (the side where the oil was concentrated) and cleaned the coil wells again. This solved the problem for a longer time. However, now it is beginning to miss again and the miss seems to be worse this time around. I am remarkably pissed with the craftsmanship of this engine including design and performance. Who thought it was a good idea to put the spark plugs on top of the engine? This was my first Ford and it will be my last. Fix Or Repair Daily is not the motto. I need attached to my truck.

5.4L truck always maintained and serviced at Ford dealerships. It was running perfect until it immediately began idling rough at a stop. No check engine light, we just know our truck. Took it in for a tune-up (replaced spark plugs, etc.) and oil change. Perfect bill of health - couldn't replicate problem. Engine checked out diagnostically - perfect. They suggested it could be an intermittent sticking fuel injector, so we were going to get an additive to add to the fuel tank. Didn't make it that far. Drove it home - 35 miles - got home and engine stalled in driveway. Turned back on, engine died again. Long story short - towed it back to Ford - they were able to replicate the problem - oil pressure drops suddenly (intermittently) - pointing to cam phaser, timing area of engine. End result - need new engine - this one is shot at only 68k miles - estimated cost $7,400 plus tax. Extended warranty expired.

Did some internet research, appears to be a common problem. These 5.4L engines are breaking down left and right in these trucks. Don't know what changed. Had a 1999 Expedition with a 5.4L - great vehicle. Contacted Ford Customer Care - was told to keep all receipts in the event of a recall. An engine should not blow at 68K miles, especially a Built Ford Tough engine. We've owned Fords since high school and they used to be reliable, long driving vehicles. Now, at 68K, we are buying a new engine. Unreal.

I have bought nothing but Fords my whole life. I am a roofing contractor and use the trucks for work. After buying 10 or more Ford trucks, I purchased my last two. The first was a 2007 F-150 4x4 5.4 Lariat, the second a 2008 F-250 super duty. Both trucks had the cam phaser problem. I took the 2008 back to the dealership with 50,000 miles. They said it was the cam phaser and it was under warranty and they would take care of it. On the next call I received from the dealership, I was told they replaced the cam phaser but the check engine light came on and I was going to need a new engine and it would cost me $6000. They said there was crude in the engine.

Well I took my 10 receipts up there for my oil changes only to be denied again. I asked if it was a common problem and was told no. The 2007 truck was my personal truck. It did the same thing at 90,000 miles. This time, I took it across town to Capital Ford in Raleigh. I knew the warranty was out but this time I was told it was the cam phaser and it was a common problem and I would need a new engine and it would cost me $6000. I was told it was such a common problem that they kept one of those engine on the floor all the time because they were replacing that many of the engines.

I shouldn't have had to pay for either engine but at least Capital was honest about the problem. I am not a mechanic but I do need my trucks to run and when they don't, I have crews that cannot work and provide for their families. For this reason, I have a solid maintenance schedule on all of my trucks. They all get the oil changed on a regular basis. I am really pissed that Ford chose this route to handle a design problem with their trucks rather than step up to the plate like a good company would. Really Ford is this how you treat a long time loyal customer? You have lost a long time customer and I will tell anyone and everyone how I was treated. The first dealership, Crossroads Ford, was where I purchased all of my trucks and was treated with total disrespect like I was lying about changing the oil in my trucks even after I produced 10 receipts for oil changes in that truck with 50,000 miles. The second dealership, Capital Ford, where I had never bought a truck at least was honest about the problem.

When I purchased my truck, I also purchased the 500+ warranty as well. Every time I had to bring my truck to the dealership it cost me a minimum of $100.00 for the deductible. Sometimes it was considerably more. On one occasion I was told I needed a software update to the tune of $300.00 plus dollars on top of the $100 deductible. At this point I had to contact a lemon law attorney who was able to recover some of $$$ that it cost me but it did not correct the issues with the vehicle.

I recently had to have the windshield replaced and in the process the cowl had to be removed. At the end of each side of the cowl is a rubber type weather strip that is known to deteriorate and break very easily. Mine did just that. When I tried to purchase these parts I was informed that even though these parts are removable ford does not and will not sell them separately from the 2 piece cowl. I was given a cost of $108 per side which comes to $216 total. I should not be expected to purchase parts I don't need to get the part I do need. I feel I was treated unfairly and not sufficiently compensated for their substandard product. I have been a ford customer/owner for 33+ years and have become very disgusted by the quality and unprofessional treatment by ford motor company and its dealership where I purchased my truck. Replace the transmission at 101,425 miles to the tune of $2453. Not long after that, at 108,822 miles, had to replace 3 of the 8 coil packs at a cost of $486. And was told the cam phasers were going out. That replacing them would be another $3000. The truck was running rough but was told it would be better to do a complete engine replacement than just cam phaser work. Just got the truck out of the shop after engine replacement and ANOTHER $5355. Does anyone know if there has been a class action suit filed against Ford? I am now in the hole for +$10'000 on top of the cost of the truck. I need help!!! Thanks.

I read online about the problems with Ford's spark plugs in the 5.4L engine. So before my warranty expired I took my truck back to Healy Ford in Edmonton to have them replace the plugs at my cost (due diligence on my part, or so I thought). I paid the $330+ for their work. Did all the oil changes at the designated KMs. The motor always had an annoying ticking sound but I was told it was a fairly common problem and nothing anyone could do about it. After the warranty expired I believed the truck would last for an extended number of years. So I commenced with some upgrades such as; 4:56 gears, a canopy, neoprene seat covers (frt & rear), roof rack system, new tires, and more. The entire cost of the upgrades might total $7,500.00.

Towing my little 21' holiday trailer an hour from home and the check engine light comes on (127,000KM). The mechanic at Edson found a burnt off spark plug on the number 2 cylinder and claimed it was only in by a couple of threads. My mechanic performed all known tests and told me I likely wouldn't get much more out of it but drive it if I dare (low compression on #2). Check engine light never went out. Damage to the cylinder wall and piston head when the spark plug blew up.

Healy Ford closes its doors and Sherwood Ford takes over their liabilities. May as well been talking to the wall as trying to tell the service manager what happened!!! I went with a new engine from Ford as used ones aren't very common or reliable. The truck with all the upgrades was worthless without an engine and it still looks brand new with 140,000KM's. Since the warranty expired at 60,000KM, I've replaced three brake calipers, rotors, power steering line and more. This is the first Ford I've ever owned and will be the LAST!!! No wonder the dealerships are advertising HELP for 2004 to 2008 F150 owners. SALES PITCH or cover up for a defective product?

I started having problems with misfiring on my 2006 F150. A light finally came on @ 84K. Took it to the shop and found out that the cam phasers needed replacing. After I spent $2100, I began to research online. Found out that this is a known problem in F150 2004 to about 2008. I went to 3 local dealerships. Asked for the service managers. I asked, "How many cam phasers have you replaced in F150's?" The answer at each dealership was 100s and 100s. So from what I can find out, it is only in the 5.4 engines. A design flaw that Ford is aware of but will not do a recall. Now at 94k, I have a jerking at 1500 rpm. Now being told I may need a new transmission. Also find others online with the same issue.

My mechanic said it may cost up to $2,000 to do it because of the faulty design and wouldn't touch it because of the possible difficulties in removing old plugs. This is obviously a design flaw that Ford was aware of and didn't inform any of its customers. Now, even if I wanted to trade the truck in, its value has diminished because of this flaw and the cost of its repair. Ford needs to take some responsibility for this.

So at 80,000, I lost the computer in a simple rain storm; dealer cost me $1375. Why would a company like Ford put a computer in the firewall that is set under the drain gutter of the hood and has not one water gasket to prevent water from shorting out the comp? Why did the Dealer make a car that has absolutely zero ability to conserve our energy? Fact of the matter, I have spent $5,603.46 a year on gas, an average of $1200 a year in repairs and I change the Oil every 6000 miles. And today, I am working on the beloved serpentine belt for the 3rd time!

I understand maintenance. I have replaced the brakes and pad bolts 5 times and pads, only 10. What is wrong with this picture? Here is the PUNCH LINE - Ford will buy it back if I buy a New One. Fat Chance -Today on the internet, I found a chip that will increase my mileage by 5 gals per mile - and now for the 3rd time, my truck is running bad and motor surges in Park and neutral. Why does our govt. allow vehicles on the road that everyone knows jumps out of gear on its own? I thought I forgot to put it in gear; I come to find out it has happened a lot. Who pays for that damage? - I do. I love the red and style, but it is NOT NOR EVER WAS FIT for the road. I was in the plumbing business for 35 years and never had a vehicle like this ever. About a month and a half ago, I was driving the Ford 150 van to a local church. I opened the driver's side door and the wind swung open, it bent the door back. I could close it but I couldn't open it more than 3 inches. The wind that day was 25-30 mph. I called the dealership where we bought it, All American Ford in Old Bridge, NJ. It took me five phone calls just to speak to the service manager. He finally called me back a week later, so I drove the van over there. They kept me waiting for two hours. Then the service manager told me that I have to go through my insurance company. I told him that the door check should have stopped the door from going too far. So after waiting two hours, nothing came out of it. I left there and went to an auto body place. He said that the door skin separated from the frame of the door. He pushed the skin back so we can open the door, but he said that there is a defect in the door and that it needs to be replaced.

He gave me an estimate for $2,200 to fix it. I emailed Ford when I got home. I emailed Ford about 4 times before somebody emailed me back. I also called Ford about 7 times. Finally a lady, Erica, called me back. We were going back and forth. She told me to call Freehold Ford and to speak to the service manager there, so I called and drove the van over there. He said the same thing that All American Ford said. I wasted my time going there. So I called Erica and told her what happened. He emailed her what he thought was wrong. I spoke with Erica today and I told her that I want to speak with a manager. She said she will have one call me back in two hours. He called and I told him the whole story. All he did was refer me to Consumer Affairs.

What I want is for Ford to replace the door and put in both doors real door checks. If they would have built this van with real door checks, this wouldn't have happened. I have been driving for 32 years and never even heard of this happening to any door. Every car or SUV I owned, they always have real door checks in the doors, not one built into the hinge. So if I get this van fixed, there is a great chance that it will happen again. It most likely happened to other Ford vans. This van has 1,772 miles on it. It's like brand new still. Can you please do something about this issue? Feel free to email me or call me.

I talked to the manager about it and he said if I could prove they messed it up, he would replace it (I live in the camper. It is my home, so I know the lights were working before I took it to them). I went to Tallahassee, which is a 60-mile drive for me, to get a transformer for my camper. That is when I found that my truck would not go over 80mph. Ford wants your transmission to go so they can get you in the dealership and try to sell you one of those nice and shiny brand new trucks. Hopefully, this happens while it's still under warranty. This makes you feel better about buying that warranty (that Ford made tons of cash on), and Ford fixes the problem for the minor charge of a deductible (which is about the actual cost of them fixing it). And they get to look like the hero because you’re so happy that you didn’t have to fork over $3 grand!

Oh by the way, since you’re feeling so happy and Ford loves you and you love them, take a look at this brand new model we have! We'll put you in this, bend you over for another warranty, and make another $25,000 (profit) off you being stupid and buying another truck that’s gonna do the same thing in a couple of years! When you think about it, it is genius! You keep going through the same circle of stupidity and feel like this multibillion-dollar company is looking out for you!

This is my second F150 (2007 Fx2), and both have had the tranny go out at 100k. This most recent repair cost $3,100. I never had any major issues with the truck except the transmission. Needless to say, this will be the last Ford I'll ever purchase. If you want an F150, buy used and make sure the previous owner has already bought a new transmission. If not, then get one that has or save your money because a new one is in your future. We live in a world where it's all about the almighty dollar, and Ford absolutely knows that using cheap parts not only puts more money in their pocket now, but will eventually put even more later. That is unless consumers decide to stop buying their crap. Do yourself a favor and roll your dice with another manufacturer. Buying Ford is guaranteed to cost an additional $3-4,000 down the road, I promise!

I have a 2001 F150 SuperCrew with 5.4L Triton V8. It had a recall to replace the fuel tank straps because they rust so bad the fuel tanks fall out on the ground. Looking at my truck, that would not be a surprise. The body has a lot of rust for a 2001. While the truck was in for service on this recall, I told them I got a P0312 code indicating a #2 cylinder misfire. I suspected a bad coil. They said it could mean replacing the intake manifold due to the fact that 70% of the time, the retaining bolt for the coil snaps off when you try to remove it and if it did, the intake manifold would need replacing at $1,100 because the coil bolts to it. Once I thought about it and after I had seen which cylinder it was, I recalled that I had taken the truck in to have the spark plugs replaced at 99,000 miles. I was aware of the spark plug spitting issue when I first got the vehicle, but thought it to be due to steel thread spark plugs galling in the aluminum heads when left in for the 100,000 mile service life they were supposed to have.

Thinking I was being proactive and that I would let Ford deal with this issue and not myself, I had Ed Koehn Ford do this job. But they did have the bolt break on the #2 cylinder coil! At that time, we just wedged a piece of sponge between the top of the coil and the injector fuel line. It seemed to work and I forgot all about it for about 60,000 miles. When the dealer asked if I wanted to guarantee the cost of the intake manifold if necessary to make the repair, I told them no, don't fix it. I picked up the truck, drove across the road to an auto parts store, bought a direct fire coil and installed it myself. I used a piece of packing foam to hold pressure on the coil. So far so good. I reset the codes, drove it for about 8 miles and it seemed fine. No codes. This is in no way a proper fix for the issue in my opinion, though. Ford should stand behind their entire line of engines because it's not just the 5.4 V8, it's the 4.6 V8, the V10 and their V6 in vehicles such as the Freestyle that also use these direct fire coils and aluminum heads.

I have been told the average cost of a tune-up for a 5.4 Triton was running about $850 and that's why Ford has replaced them with all new engines. If they have in fact fixed this issue, what about all the vehicles they sold previously? Oh yeah, Ed Koehn Ford charged me $108 for re-diagnosing (and not fixing) my problem. My truck is still a rust bucket, the exhaust still rattles and they never even addressed that issue. But they did rotate my tires and lost a hubcap off one of my wheels!

At 85,000 miles, the check engine light came on so I took it to Sayville Ford in New York, where I was told that I needed to buy a new engine at a cost of $8,000+ because there was nothing that could be done due to a manufacturing design defect with this engine that would cause it to have "low oil pressure," which in turn has an adverse affect on both cam phasers which causes the engine to run rough and have misfires. As per Ford, I only used OEM parts and/or filters as well using 5W-20 oil every 5,000 miles. At 105,000 miles thereafter, I will be having the engine replaced with one from Jasper Engines if I want to continue to drive this truck since it will not pass inspection in its current condition. Jasper has taken steps to modify the engine to overcome Ford's design deficiencies.

I believe Ford needs to step up to the plate and offer its customers all costs incurred because of its bad inherent design. I also place a portion of blame on Sayville Ford for not stepping up and doing the right thing for its customers. I for one will never ever buy another Ford product and from the research that I have done, I'm not alone in this decision. Please note the problem and response below. Since this is not a "safety" issue, there are thousands of vehicles affected by this. This has evidently been going on for several years. This just can't be right. Who else can I contact with this problem?

I am a manufacturing engineer here in Cincinnati and sub-contract for GE and P&G to create parts and assemblies for their production lines. I have 35 years of experience in metallurgy and CNC machining.

I am sitting here in total disbelief over the scenario I went through today. I frequently check the maintenance schedule for my truck in the literature provided with my new truck in concert with various web sites of F150 mechanics and consumer reports. I discovered that Ford has changed the service interval for my spark plugs from 100,000 miles to 60,000 miles. I'm at 73,000 miles. I used to do my own tune up with points, plugs and condenser and maybe advance the dwell a quarter degree but those days are gone. I called Kings Ford here in Cincinnati last Friday, where I bought my new truck, and was told by the young lady in service that the plug replacement would cost $250.00. I thought the plugs were made of gold. I went to Kings Ford today to schedule an appointment and was told by the service advisor that the cost is about $400.00 to $450.00. I asked for the exact cost and, here it comes, was told that it will vary depending on “how many they break". I told him not to break any. He proceeded to tell me there was a design flaw in the OEM two part plug that would cause the sleeve to separate from the porcelain body. They would try to "spray it with polyrazmataz" but there were no guarantees as to their success. I asked if there was any Ford documentation that would alleviate this condition and was told, "Yeah, it works sometimes." I asked what the cost would be if all 8 plugs broke and was told, with a straight face, $1,100.00. I was also told that if any porcelain chips fell through the plug onto the piston, the heads would have to be removed at a cost of $2,200.00.

This is just fantastic. I'm writing this still shaking my head. What part/assembly procedure created this nightmare? The bottom line is that I need help with this situation. I can't afford this cost and I do not take my truck anywhere but Ford service. My first Ford was a 65' 289cid 3 on the floor and have owned Fords ever since. I have never encountered anything like this with any of my other vehicles. Please advise me.

What the heck Ford? Every car I owned has been a Ford and I’m about to put more money into my truck than I have put into my 96 Ford ranger that has almost 300,000 miles on it with just in our own maintenance we do; it’s never been to a mechanic for the motor only to put locking hub on front. Ford should replace everything in a tune up plugs, cells rings, seals for free since it’s their fault not ours. We do regular maintenance on our trucks as the Ford dealer specs say to. It looked strange since carport was empty other than vehicles. Toyota was not on fire at that time, but was engulfed by F150 very quickly.

He concluded that the fire originated from F-150. Ford representatives "finally" met with inspector on site. State Farm investigators confiscated the truck for further analysis.
