They told me I needed a diagnostic readout of a bad stalk on the vehicle. I fixed the one on the vehicle myself and they still charged me for something I did not need. Let me clarify what the stalk does. Three functions: (1) Works the rod to the ignition switch to activate the high beams; (2) works the wipers; and (3) works the turn signals. PS, no new parts.

On November 6, I purchased a battery for my 2001 Kia Sephia priced at $99.99. My tech was Jordan **. He said he had to charge me $15.00 for battery core and would credit my Firestone Credit Card when I brought back the old battery. When I went back to bring the old battery, I was told that I was not charged for this and that they never charge for this. We then called the Firestone Credit Card office and were told I was charged for this. Firestone did not know how to credit my account so they gave me cash back. My problem is that if I was charged by one person and told by another they never charge for this, it makes we wonder what else they do not know how to do.

I got a nail in my tire and put fix-a-flat in it then pumped it up. I took it to my local Firestone in Sebastian, FL and they refused to honor the warranty/roadside hazard. They told me to take it to the one in Vero Beach, FL. Now the Vero Beach Firestone is saying that they cannot fix the tire because it was driven on flat and the tire is damaged. First of all, it was always pumped before driving and it was still pumped when we got to both Firestones. That is beside the point, had we not been forced to take the car to a different Firestone, none of this would have happened. The tire would have been fixed under the warranty. Now they want us to pay for something that was out of our control. That is not right and something should be done about it. Is it custom for Firestone to turn away customers like that?! This is beyond ridiculous.

Alternator Turned Into Dead Vehicle: My daughter’s car was acting funny, so she went to Fire Stone Complete Auto Care at 4060 Bee Ridge Rd, Sarasota, FL 34233 (941-371-5927) as they are a well known and advertised corporation. A mechanic confirmed that the alternator was bad. With his expertise, she agreed for him to replace it. She waited for 4 hours in the waiting room. Upon completion, she paid and left. She drove approximately 40 minutes to a relative’s and while driving, the dash warning lights were flickering and the radio was in and out. She then drove home another 40 miles with the same problems and the cruise control quit and parked the car. The following morning the car was dead. She called Firestone and they had it towed back to their garage. The car was there for 2 days. She did not receive one call to say the car was ready. She called as it had been two days to find out the status and they told her the car was ready to be picked up. With that she went to pick the car up and paid the invoice.
** the grade A mechanic (according to the service/tire manager) told her it was the radio amp that was causing the problem. She then called me and I spoke to the gentleman who said he was the tire manager. After a lengthy discussion, I agreed for them to unhook the radio amp that had been in the car for a minimum of 6-7 months and we agreed that if that did not fix it, they would do whatever it took to repair the car. ** had unhooked the amp while I was still on the phone. She then went to start the car and leave only to find the check engine light on. She turned the car off and the key was stuck in the ignition as the security went off in the car. She then went inside and told the service/tire manager and he asked ** to go check it out and run a diagnostics on the car to find out what the codes were. ** tried but couldn't figure out how to get the code at that time, so he asked if she could leave it for a couple more days, so they could look at it and try to figure it out.
Two days later, she returned to pickup the car as they called. They said it was ready and said it was caused by the amp that had been in the car for 6-7 months! While she was there, ** showed her how to connect and disconnect the amp stating that if she just disconnected it at night, it would be fine. ** then hooked the amp back up and she drove home and unhooked it. The following day, lo and behold: she went out in the morning and the car was dead. I called and spoke with the manager. This time he stated he was on vacation last week and knew nothing about it. He told me they had no idea what was causing it and that she could go and get a refund for the alternator. I told him that does not solve our problem. He said that was all they could do. But this leaves us with a serious problem with her car!

I work for a large company that has a fleet of vehicles. Firestone is approved by fleet services to do work on these vehicles. We recently took one of the company trucks to Store # 019968, 2821 E Division St. Arlington, Texas. We needed an emissions test report for the paperwork to transfer the vehicle from MS to TX. They did the report but messed up one number on the VIN. This usually would not be that big a deal. But when trying to transfer vehicles from one state to another, the DMV gets a little picky about things like VIN numbers.
Anyway we went back. The first time, they told our employee that they would have to run the test again and charge us for it. The second time, they told our employee that there was no way to change the numbers. The third time, they told our employee "They didn't have time for this **!" At that point, our office administrator went up there and they told her it would take 45 minutes to redo the paper work. She told them “I have all day, get to it.” The guy was very short and rude with all our employees. Bottom line is we have close to 20 vehicles in this office alone and we will not be taking any of them to Firestone for any type of service.

My daughter took her car to Firestone in Chester, VA. The car was rejected for brake rotors, rear brake pads, fog lights not working, and third brake light on trunk not working. In addition, they said she needed tie rods and an all-wheel alignment. The total cost provided to her was $790.00. She was smart enough to take the rejection sticker and leave. Thank God!
First of all, there was nothing wrong with the fog lights. The technicians didn't know how to turn them on. Nice job! Second, the rotors were not below manufacturer's specification. I took the car to a reputable auto repair shop, and they said the front rotor had light grooves in it, but none of the rotors were under manufacturer's specifications. (Firestone lied about this to me when I called them; they even told me what they had mic'd the rotors at. Maybe their micrometer was off?) And finally, Firestone included items in the quote that had nothing to do with the inspection, trying to get my daughter to pay for services that were not required or needed at this time.
In the end, I paid $250.00 to replace brake pads and perform brake service, fix broken wires in the wiring harness to the third brake light, an oil and filter change (not part of the Firestone quote), and another state inspection fee. As I told the Firestone manager, they're trying to take advantage of a young girl and trying to make as much money as they can off of their state inspection license. This was an attempted rip-off. I'm just happy my daughter was smart enough to leave that place and bring the car to me.

This is the third time I have visited Firestone for uneven tire wear after purchasing a "lifetime warranty on alignment." I was told the ball joints were "out" and this was an "unsafe" condition and needed $600 worth of repair. I told them that the vehicle had passed state inspection only the day before. They demanded to know who would do such a bad inspection. This statement scared me so I took the vehicle to the Missouri State Vehicle Inspection Station. The officer there told me the car could be aligned and that no "unsafe" condition existed.

I brought my Infiniti G35 in for a tire replacement on the right front end. The individual who I first talked to was not professional. I stated why I was there and as we were walking out to the vehicle he said, "I don't understand women. I will never date a woman 10 years younger than me again. I just broke up with my girlfriend and from now on I will date women older, not younger." I did not comment.
Once inside, he checked to see if they had the tire I needed. He was gone at least 20 minutes. He told me they had one tire available. He totaled the price and then said, "You're not going to like this price. Are you ready?" Then, he turned the screen toward me and I saw the tire listed as more than $400. I called the Infiniti dealership in Raleigh, NC and they quoted a price for the same tire more than $100 less. I conveyed this information to another individual at Firestone and they lowered the price to match, which I appreciated. However, I was shocked that there would be such an initial difference in price.
After waiting 90 minutes to have the tire installed, I checked on the status of my vehicle. I walked to a window and the individual there said, "We are waiting to see if we have that tire." I told him that the first gentleman who waited on me had already checked and that I knew there was a tire available. The tire was then promptly installed by a very nice gentleman in the service area who was very professional.
In summary, the first individual (I'm sorry I don't know his name, but he was a black gentleman whose sleeves were rolled up above his biceps) was unprofessional. His comments are inappropriate and there seems to be a time lag when he is checking on things. The price difference on the tire left me unimpressed. Information from the first gentleman was apparently not conveyed to the service department as they were not aware that they had the tire I needed in stock. He was very busy with casual conversation and laughing with another woman that, unfortunately, the perception was that he was not focused on work-related issues to the best of his ability.

I had an appointment to get an oil change and an NYS inspection, left my car there. When I went to pick it up, they told me they couldn't do an oil change because my oil cap was broken. They said they tried to call me but couldn't reach me. They called my home phone, not my cell. By the time I got there, it was too late to get an oil change, then I got in my car and it was dead! The manager gave me an attitude, had no idea why it was dead. He jumped the car and I drove out then to find out that my car was still making a noise when I took the keys out. I went back there and told him they did something to my car because it wouldn't stop beeping. He was very annoyed and got in my car to try and figure out what the problem was. He opened my owner's manual for about 20 minutes before he figured out that they moved my settings on my lights! Great mechanics.

Last year, I was charged for unnecessary work also, to the tune of $966.85. This time, I was told I needed $1,001.51 of work. My normal garage told me was not needed, also told me Firestone was a rip-off, well known by everyone. I was charged $64.74 for an oil change. Three and a half months ago, it was $32.75. They charged me $29.99 for 1 turn signal which they did not fix. They told me it was electrical. I took it to my garage and they fixed it right away. I had tires put on, told me I needed them, every time it's a wheel alignment, anything they can come up with that it does not need. My tires were quite new. They also over charged me by about $500.00 for a job 2 weeks ago. This is my very last time to Firestone.

In 2011, I purchased tires from Firestone in Liberty, MO for my 2002 Ranger pickup, at which time I also purchased the optional road hazard warranty on the tires. The other day, I went in to see about getting them rotated and balanced. They took firstly the woman who came in behind me while I waited, still standing at the counter. Apparently, I need a skirt to get attention. The guy at the counter finally got to me and as you would expect, asked when I would like it to be done. I said 4 o'clock and he said no problem. It was around 11AM so I figured no problem, I had a very busy day planned with the family and this fit my schedule. I got a call around 4 to tell me they had just gotten it on the rack so I anticipated a late call for the finish up.
Well after they got my truck into the shop, near as I can tell the tires were not checked for balance, just rotated. They performed a diagnostic at the time and guaranteed me that after the testing, they would "know" what was going on. Later he told me they would have to dismantle the upper intake and possibly the heads to actually tell what was happening. When I went to pick up my pickup, I was planning on using the card we had gotten when I purchased the tires, which unfortunately was not acceptable for me to use because my wife's name was on it and not mine. So, I had to call her to come back and give them her ID.
I would like to mention here that since we have only been married for four months, that her name on her driver's license was not correct either. However, for whatever reason, they accepted her wrong ID. I started to be very uncomfortable when they kept saying to me that it was only because they had been taken by someone recently on a Firestone credit card on one hand and that it was company policy on the other hand, a policy which seems contradictory at best. After realizing that I may be a victim of their errors rather than the recipient of company policy, I asked the two guys at the register what's going on with their decision not feeling it was justified because of poor judgement on their part with some person or persons unknown to me. I had been going to this store with a clean history since early last year. We had no problems of nonpayments or unresolved complaints. They wouldn't back off, even though I uncovered these facts.
When other customers started paying attention to what was going on, they quickly acted as though I was the culprit who had "taken them" so I felt very uneasy and decided that they were the ones who were acting inappropriately. So, I left the place paying for the diagnostic with my Firestone card and we decided at the time it would be best for all concerned if we gave you back your card, with very bad feeling for what I had to experience in order to open my eyes, and feeling sorry for the other customers that were there not knowing that they may be the next ones to receive half of their service with full payment and suspicious treatment.
We have spent a few hundred dollars at this store over the past year. We are finished with Firestone. For it to be insinuated we were possible liars, thieves and treated in this manner is unacceptable in my mind. I am taking my business to another company. I know that both companies are owned by Bridgestone, as I said to the man at the other company "I only hope you guys are nothing like the guys in Liberty." I don't believe they are, but time will tell. The total on my bill is $85.16. Please make sure I was only charged for this amount so when we pay it off, our business with Firestone will be concluded.

I went to Firestone at the Jensen Dr. location in Houston, Texas and as the front desk employee was eating, I asked if they could check the front left tire I purchased for a leak. The information on the computer did not match the vehicle I was referring to, which I had to go back home and get the invoice. Needless to say, I was not happy because of the unnecessary travel. When I returned, upset of course, me and the attendant (**) began going back and forth about the information on the computer which took away from my tire issue. There was another African American manager who entered into the confrontation, and told me if I did not want to wait to get my vehicle fixed, I could leave.
Wow, all I wanted was my tire checked and it got totally out of hand. I relocated from Mississippi and never had to deal with this kind of unprofessionalism from Firestone and I am very distraught it had to come to this. I do not go to get my tire repaired looking for an argument and these employees were not going to be wrong. Firestone has changed and I will be changing my automotive service as well because my father dealt with Firestone and it meant a lot to me to follow his footsteps. This location really needs some anger management classes. Good bye Firestone.

Northglenn Firestone put a replacement tire on my car that did not match the other tires. Northglenn Firestone did not tell me this. The damage to the car resulted from a replacement tire being mounted on my car that did not match the others. I was expecting Northglenn Firestone to reimburse me because they made the mistake in putting the mismatched tire on my car. How could it be my fault? Had I known and continued to drive on it, then I would be at fault. Northglenn Firestone said I was responsible for paying for the repairs because the flat tire was a carry in. Northglenn Firestone was not responsible because I carried the flat tire in. They did not have to reimburse me. The replacement tire was the correct size for my car. The tires I had on it were the wrong size. Had I known this, I would have bought a set of tires instead of one tire.

I took my truck to Firestone and they did half the work, but charged me for both front ends of my truck. I took it to the Chevy dealer and they showed me that the original parts were on my truck on one side, so I went back and Firestone said they thought they did both sides. So they did the work (N/C) and then the work they did was a bad part because it broke, which messed up my right wheel along with the sway bar on the right side that broke. They charged me $257.21 which they said would have been more. I don’t care - why should I have to pay anything for the bad work they did? It also cost me a vacation day.
I make $18.64 an hour; multiply that by 7.5 and that is $139.80. Unless I get a credit on my account for $257.21 and paid for my day $139.80, I will be contacting the Sun Times Tribune and the B.B.B. along with Facebook and tweet it. I work for a hospital and I will hand out fliers for people not to go to Firestone and I will pick all Firestones I find every Saturday to let the people know how you scam consumers. In 2006, I purchased tires from Firestone at 4630 Mangum Rd in Houston, TX. At the time, I purchased the optional road hazard warranty on the tires. Firestone didn't bother to tell me that they offered free rotation of tires, when you purchase tires there. Never once when I went back, because I had a nail in my tire, did they offer to rotate the tires, even though they knew the front ones were wearing faster because I have front wheel drive. The day I asked to have them rotated, they took the car into the shop. A few minutes after they looked at the tires, I was called to the desk. The rep’s name was **. He proceeds to tell me that the front tires are very worn, and that wires are poking out of them. He tells me I must buy two new tires.
Never once did he offer to discount them, per how the roadside warranty/hazard thing is supposed to work. He tells me it will cost over $200. I tell him I don't have that kind of money today, and he promptly had them put my car out front and refused to do the rotation. Now, once I thoroughly read the paperwork they gave me that day, nowhere on it did it mention wires coming through the tread. So, the sales rep was making things up as he went along trying to trick/scare me into a purchase. I went and bought my tires elsewhere, for a lot less than what I was quoted at Firestone, I might add. However, I still had two tires on the back that I had purchased from Firestone, which I will get back to in a moment.
They also aren't real reputable about the car repairs either. I asked once about getting a new A/C compressor since mine was wearing out. I was quoted almost $2,000.00 for the repair. Of course I didn't have that kind of money and at a later date, got the said work done elsewhere for $599. One day when my car wouldn't start, I had it towed there. They spent 6 hours trying to figure out what was wrong, and then gave up. So, I had to get it towed again to a dealer, who after just ten minutes knew what was wrong. Two thumbs down to Firestone.
Getting back to the tires; I do not do a lot of driving, so how long I own the tires, doesn't mean I wore it out. I drive less than 4 miles to work each day, and I am lucky if I put 8,000 miles on my car in a year. On August the 17th of 2012, I noticed I had a nail in my back tire. Since I still had the roadside warranty with Firestone, I took it over there. They come back in after having my car in the shop and tell me I have three nails in each back tire, and that they cannot patch them because they are too close together. I ask about the warranty, because I should get a discount (the warranty is supposed to work by how much tread you have worn off the tire. You get a discount if the tire has to be replaced, based on how much tread you have worn off. New tires are 10/32 my back tires were still at 7/32.).
I was promptly told by the staff that because the tire was purchased 6 years ago, the warranty is no longer valid. Then, they tell me two new tires will cost $185.72 plus tax, and I am sure there were other hidden fees as well, such as valve stems, tire disposal fee, etc. So I said no, and when and bought two new tires elsewhere, and the grand total was only $156.
My beef is Firestone way overcharges for their tires, and their repairs, and will sell you a warranty on tire that they have no intention of honoring. Based on the tire wear (I asked how this is supposed to work and got an answer from a reputable tire dealer), I should have been given at least half of the price of the new tires at Firestone. Instead, I was simply told, "the warranty is no longer valid'. Well lesson learned. I will never go back there. And now that I don't have any phony warranties from them on my tires, I won't have to. I don't wish to be contacted by them. I just wanted to get this out there for people to know, so that they can stay away from Firestone and not make the same mistake I did.

Incomplete repairs/acknowledgement: My car was taken in because it had a small oil leak. I told the technician that I was going to be driving it from California to Texas and that I needed to be sure that the car was going to be safe to drive. They did an inspection that was supposed to be free, as I am a Firestone Customer, but charged me instead. They told me that my oil pan just needed a new cap and washer, which they put on. I was told that there were no other problems and that my car would be fine to drive.
As I arrived to Texas, I noticed that there were oil spots on the driveway. I then called my local Firestone; took my car in, only to find out that the Firestone in Modesto, California, never actually fixed the problem. As a matter of fact, all they did was put a temporary plug and a wrong washer, which in turn made the problem worse according to my local technician. I am so disappointed with the Firestone in Modesto, California, that I would never recommend anyone use this location.

I recently noticed I had a small nail in one of the tires of my all wheel drive Subaru. It was a Sunday so not many places were open, but I did want to get my tire checked before I had to go to work on Monday. When I went in, no one was available to help me at the front desk. I waited 10 minutes before I was even acknowledged. Finally, a young man came to the front and I explained my situation. He came out to look at the tire and proceeded to tell me right away that there was no way they could patch it because of the position. He then proceeded to explain to me that I would have to replace all 4 tires and that they would all need to be brand new tires because he didn't know the mileage of the other tires.
Now yes, I may be a young blonde female but I knew right away he was full of it because I do know that you can measure tread on tires and estimate how much tread you have left roughly based on the make of the tire. He even went so far as suggesting it wasn't even possible to buy used tires. I was in no way going to just buy $800 worth in tires right then and there for a nail in one of them. My tires are relatively new! So, I left frustrated and wanted a second opinion.
My dear husband was off shift the next day and was able to take my car to a trusted garage. Before they even suggested any solution, they actually took the nail out to have a better idea of the damage. Turns out it didn't even puncture through! No need to do anything and my husband left not even paying a dime. It is sad that Firestone would try and take advantage of someone the way they tried to sell me on 4 brand new tires. I will never go back there again.

This Firestone tire shop is located on 101 Sunrise Highway Lindenhurst, NY. I went to purchase two tires for my car. In the store behind the counter, there is a sign posted that will say you get a free alignment check with tire purchases. What this means is that they will tell you if you need an alignment to be done based on a fast check and you can get a printout with the current alignment condition. So, I discussed about the possibility to have the car alignment done if the free alignment check will show the car wheels not to be in the specs. After like an hour and a half, one guy came to tell me that the car is ready and an alignment is recommended.
I requested the printout of the free check specs that will show the car being out of the alignment. The guy said, "Sure, I will tell the mechanic to print it out." I will mention that I have checked before with other tire shops for tire prices and alignment and all said they will check the alignment free and will print the findings. Actually, Sears Tires have a video clip about this. It is called "Alignment Audit" that is done in like 2 minutes. So getting back to my story after like another half an hour, it was announced that the car is ready and the alignment check printout is there.
I asked the guy at the register what is the difference in the tolerance shown between one side and the other. He said that it shows a green line for each tire, which means that alignment is okay, otherwise will show a red line for the tire that is out of the spec. However, in the next minute when I asked how much is to be paid for everything, another guy ** showed up at the register telling me that the total price is almost $300. Ridiculously high for two tires, $90 each. Then when I asked why the price was so high, he told me that I was charged for the tires and alignment ($80). I got in to an argue with them because I realized right away the scam that he was trying to pull on me, charging me for work that was never done.
I asked them why was work done without my approval and why the other guy told me that everything is okay and each wheel alignment is showing green/okay, meaning that no alignment is needed. Then the guy named ** told me that the printout is actually after the alignment was done and they can't print before, which is a **, contradicting the other guy who said that it will show red if the alignment is off. Bottom line is that I said I will not pay for something that was not done and I never approved either. I asked them to take the new tires off and put the old ones back and I will leave. Then, I noticed other weird things like the date of the printout being different than today's date when the car was tested, the car was recorded with a wrong mileage showing 50k miles less (which is about what the new purchased tires have as warranty).
I started to be very uncomfortable realizing that I may be a victim in an ongoing ripoff scam. I asked the two guys at the register what's going on with all these errors and they started to back off, seeing that I was uncovering all the facts. They cut the alignment fee right away trying to get rid of me when other customers started paying attention to what was going on. So, I left the place paying for the 2 tires with very bad feeling for what I had to experience, also feeling sorry for the other customers that were there not knowing that they may be the next victims.

I dropped my car off to have a mechanical check done on the front end at the 2400 Elida Rd. Lima, OH store on August 13, 2012. The service estimate on work order #** exceeded $1,100. We decided to hold off until we had the cash in a few days. When my daughter went to pick up the car, she immediately saw that the lower right front of the car was damaged. She told them that the damage was new. She is 17 and was intimidated by the curt denial she received from the store personnel. She came home and told me about it. We went immediately back to the store. I talked to the manager, **. He denied the damage. This car was not damaged in this area when it went in for a service. He further wanted to infer that the damage to the struts that were estimated in the repair was caused by us hitting something.
The repair was for shocks and struts, front and rear. What a ridiculous comment for him to make. ** (the manager) was rude and smug. I filed a police report on the spot. The investigating officer told me that he was confident that Firestone did the damage and simply wouldn't admit it. We have spent thousands and thousands of dollars at this store over the years. We are finished with Firestone. For us to be called liars and treated in this manner is unacceptable. I will pursue this to the limits! The district management has been contacted.

2009 Dodge caliber - My car would not go over 5 miles an hour. They put in a sensor. My car was using 30 to 40 gallons of gas a day. I had the transmission fluid changed and they put in the wrong color. They put in spark plugs and put in the wrong kind. Also, 4 new tires put on that were faulty. I had a blow out on the front tire and almost had on the other one also. I also had a new radiator put on and later I took it to a Dodge dealer. They had to replace it as it was cracked and leaking. I believe I should be compensated for these faulty products.

I brought my 2002 Camaro to the Firestone shop on High Point Road in Greensboro, NC to have the rear main replaced. After about a few months, it started leaking again; I took it back. They told me to take it to the one on Battleground because they were better qualified?! They re-fixed it. A few months later, it leaked again, it's still leaking. After having my car at Firestone a total of 6 times for the rear main & an oil pan gasket, 12 days total, I had enough. I told the manager about the problem again, this time leaking more than before. He offered to fix it again. I told him I thought it should be fixed by a dealer that knew what they were doing. He told me they would do that until his district manager found out it would cost more than they charged me. I had taken it to Parks Chevrolet in Kernersville, NC where they put a dye in the oil, at Firestone's request, and sure enough, it was leaking from the rear main again. After all that time wasted, I found out that Firestone does not stand behind its work (makes you wonder about their tires).

I took my Rodeo to Firestone at 1700 W. International Speedway Blvd to have a screw or nail removed from my tire. I had bought the tires there about 1 1/2 years ago which was not a good idea to begin with. When they changed my tires, they did not inform me that my brakes were bad and they knew I was getting on the road to travel to Kentucky. Needless to say, my daughter, grandson and I got the scare of our lives when the brakes went out on us on a very steep hill in Tennessee. Since I had bought the tires there, I figured I would take it back since I had bought road hazard on them. I see no reason that anyone should have been in the back seat of my vehicle.
Before I had gone into the store, I noticed that a carton of cigarettes had dumped out in the back floor of the truck. I picked them up and made note of how many packs I had left, 8 is what I had. When I got home Friday and went to get a pack, I was really furious to notice one was missing. I searched under my seats and everywhere and sure enough someone stole a pack. It may not seem like much to you but my husband is not working, and I cannot afford to support someone else’s habit. I am absolutely furious that you have people working for you that steal. God only knows what else has been taken from the other vehicles.
I also noticed on Saturday that the change in my ash tray was all gone. I do not use it except to put spare change so I do not have to go through my purse at the drive-thru windows. The first incident was pretty bad and I should have reported it at that time, since I lost 3 days of my trip and only had 1 day to be there. From the current reviews, it seems to me that maybe you need to screen your employees and managers a little better. I will never use any of your stores again and will notify anyone and everyone about what my experience is with your stores. I am just thankful that when the brakes on my truck did not end up a very tragic situation. I should have followed up but felt sorry for the store manager so I did not. Well now I am not going to keep my mouth shut. I will spread the word about my experience with your shop.

In July 2012, I brought my 2009 Kia Sedona to the Firestone in Santa Fe, New Mexico for new brakes and possibly front rotors. My car had 42,000 miles. I moved from Bellevue, WA and had great experience and great customer service with the different Firestone shops in the Seattle area and always appreciate their honesty. I trusted Firestone. Being a single woman, and having limited knowledge about cars, I really relied on those guys. So naturally, when moving to Santa Fe, I went to Firestone for my car repairs.
The call I received from the shop for my estimate just frustrated me. Like I said, my knowledge about cars may be limited but I am not stupid. I was quoted $700 for my brakes and rotors (front and back). Brake Masters inspected my brakes a month before and told me that only the front rotors were bad. As I was leaving on a road trip, I just did not contest them. But when they told me that my front bearing needed to be changed for $1200, I just could not believe it and questioned him, "at 42,000 miles?"
I just declined the bearing repairs. When I picked up my car and saw a $200 in labor charges, I just was so surprised and was told, "Well, Ma'am, this is Santa Fe," talking to a person from Bellevue WA, Microsoft hud, right! I went to the KIA dealership, which tested my car and told me that the bearings were fine, and that in the whole Sedona history, not one case of bad bearings was ever at that mileage, and on top of everything, they are covered by the manufacturer warranty until 60,000 miles which I am sure Firestone was aware of. This is what I call highway robbery. I will never go back to Firestone in Santa Fe and would rather pay a little more and take my car to the Kia dealership. This is what is wrong with this country. 5,000 miles later after a round trip to Seattle, my bearings are just doing fine, crooks.

After the wedding, I got an oil change in Firestone and left for California. The car seemed to have a problem after 80 miles from where I left and then completely stopped in middle of nowhere. It was 1am and thunder/hail storm was coming in. I coughed up $200 to a nearest Firestone as the online person recommended. I mean I had to; it was pitch dark in middle of nowhere. The Firestone owner said they don’t fix my kind of problem. So I had to tow it back and coughed up another $200 for towing and when they ran a test, the manager asked me three times, "Did you remove the radiator cap?" I answered no three times. I wouldn’t even know what or where it is. They wrote on the original note no problems and later wrote down 7% battery left.
I thought Firestone was supposed to fix my problem and not make it, and it was a simple oil change, how can you mess that up? Then Firestone towed the car to a shop where they fixed my kind of problem. The first estimate was +$3,500 to remove the engine and see if the head gasket was blown and the final price will be determined. It seemed like the mechanic wants to play stupid with me and wanted to charge me with whatever, I mean I was about 2,000 miles away from home, so hey why not? I talked with my mechanic back home and said it should be about +$3,000.

After inspecting the tire, the clerk told me that the tire could not be patched and I needed to replace 2 tires because if I replaced only the punctured one, the tread mismatch would cause uneven wear. I took the tire somewhere else and had it patched. The same tire now has over 29000 miles on it. I got no problem with it. On another occasion, my girlfriend left her car at that store to have a fog lamp bulb replaced. I spoke with a representative just to be told that they put new pads, etc. However, after taking my car to another separate dealer, I was given an estimate that my pads were near 50% use within 3 months’ time. This is preposterous! I obtained the printout. I honestly felt that Firestone did not service me honestly and overcharged me - the analysis proved it. This is my second time having to do a complaint of dishonest or shall I say "incomplete incompetent" work. On July 5, 2012, I drove from Chiloquin, OR to get a routine service performed on my 2003 Saturn AWD Vue. The store manager said he could not guarantee the timing belt unless I bought the kit. He said this contained all tensioners, timing belt, and spring to make sure they could guarantee the work. They started work a little after 7:00 AM on July 5. Later that day, they said the Vue was ready. We finished the paperwork, and we headed back home.
Just South of Olympia, WA, the alternator dash light came on, and the engine temperature was climbing. So, we pulled into the rest area and shut the engine off. It was about 7:00 PM, and I called Firestone. Finally, an agent answered, stating the store was closed and that normally they would rent a car for me through National Rent-A-Car. He called me back and told me instead that Lakewood Towing would be coming to pick the car up and take it back up to Ft. Lewis Firestone, where the work was performed. We opened the hood. The whole engine was extremely overheated. No water had leaked out, but all the water in the overflow reservoir was sucked back into the block.
I believe since the water pump was also changed, the anti-freeze would have been checked and filled to level indicated and then ran to insure the proper fluid level. I believe the technician was in a hurry to finish the job and did not put a sufficient amount of anti-freeze back in the engine and in haste left one of his tools in my engine compartment. No fluid leaked out at the rest area as I have said. Then, I believe an additional tensioner that runs the altenator, but not the water pump, was melted as it is made of plastic. The technician told me.
The timing belt was not harmed according to the technician, the one that runs the water pump! The timing cover case was so hot that it could not be touched. I talked to the store manager, Cliff. He tried to explain to me that the problem was not caused by the work (timing belt and water pump kit replacement) but instead was caused by the outside tensioner that he neither explained needed to be replaced. Apparently, he felt comfortable not replacing or telling me about. Cliff said the bearing tensioner failed and that was what caused the overheating.
The manager then stated he could not replace the work he had performed but that he would replace the outside belt tensioner for free. I insisted that the whole process with all parts be replaced because of the extreme heat along with the burnt anti-freeze and oil be re-installed. The manager would not agree to perform this work, so I called the Regional Manager Len. He would re-emphasize to the store manager. I also asked them to replace the radiator cap and the radiator temperature thermostat and address the burned engine oil. They agreed eventually to re-do the entire job, putting their best technician on it. I thought the engine block might be compromised along with the aluminum head or the head gasket.
The regional manager stated Firestone did not have the facility for that. But eventually, he agreed to have a block test and cylinder leak down test done if I could find one open on Saturday. I did, it's Parkland Titus Will Chevrolet. But they could not do it till Monday. On Monday, the tests indicated to me that the anti-freeze was indeed leaking past the number one valve, causing a very slight loss of about 30PSI of compression. The Service Adviser Glen at Parkland recommended sending the head to the shop, but the Regional Manager Len for Firestone, according to Glen, "to button her up"!
The valve is still leaking fluid, and I am still losing fluid. I am angry, because the work should have been right the first time. Secondly, Firestone Consumer Advocate has been informed of this situation. But as to this day, I still have not gotten the valve leak repaired. I feel I should be compensated for the damage caused to my valve compression leak that did not exist prior to bringing my Vue for routine maintenance. I have not received a follow-up from the regional manager either. Help!

One of the repairs is the front right CV axle. I paid and my car broke down on the highway in a very dangerous section endangering myself and my girlfriend. This happened less than 100 miles after I left Firestone.
My car then gets towed to a local mechanic. The new auto repair shop owner states that my front right CV axle was improperly installed and now I need a new transmission on top of that. Estimated cost of repairs exceeds $3,000. They advised me to contact Firestone to file a claim as they improperly installed the front right CV axle. The claim is filed at 9:30 am EDT on 6/29/12. Firestone mentioned to me that it would take 24-48 hours for a claims inspector to come out to my vehicle. It is now 11:30 am EDT 7/6/12 and Firestone's Claims department is not even answering my calls.
I've asked the new auto repair shop to halt work so the claims inspector can see the damage they caused first hand. I don't know how much longer I can wait. The long trip I stated before was me moving from Florida to New Jersey and my car broke down during that move. I am inconveniencing friends of the family for a place to stay as I no longer have a residence in Florida. I also have a temporary arrangement at my place of work to allow me to work remotely as I'm now based out of the NJ office and have no way of getting up there (on top of leaving my car in Florida). This is not permanent and this whole situation may cost me my job or at the very least upset my manager.
Let this serve as a warning that if Firestone improperly installs something on your car, their claims process is horrible and the folks at their customer affairs department and claims department have no empathy or compassion for someone stuck a horrible situation. All I've asked for is for them to expedite my claim given my horrendous situation and they have done the complete opposite.

I asked that the system be checked and repaired and that I be kept in the loop. That was at 7:15 a.m. When I picked up the vehicle at 5:00 p.m., the check engine light came on and the air conditioning was not blowing any air at all. Your staff then referred me to Bettenhausen Automotive.
About a month ago, I brought my vehicle in as the check engine light was on and I needed to successfully complete my emissions test in order to purchase my sticker. At that time, your service department was unable to perform services needed and I was charged approximately $229.00 at that time and referred to Bettenhausen. The check engine light was still on. Bettenhausen completed service and I was able to successfully pass the emissions test. When I had the air conditioning problem I should have probably gone to Bettenhausen but returned to Firestone as I have previously found your service department to be exceptional, convenient and the Firestone charge is a convenient method to pay for maintenance repairs.
However, at this time, I feel I received inadequate service on Saturday and to the tune of $529.98 only to be told to “take it to Bettenhausen” who in turn told me not to waste my money, that it would be far too costly to fix the air conditioning on this particular vehicle. Your service department’s complete lack of professionalism is totally unacceptable in today’s standards and I feel I was charged for incomplete work. The Illinois State Consumer laws prohibit unfair practices. At this time, I am requesting the recent charge of $529.98 be adjusted and/or removed due to the fact that I continued to experience operational problems and in addition the check engine light was back on. On 06/11/2012, received a Consumer Rebuttal (the consumer indicated he/she did not accept the response from the business). I do not accept the store's response. During the initial visit, the store did a full complete vehicle inspection. During the inspection, there was no mention of a blown head gasket. These are supposed to be fully qualified service maintenance technicians servicing my car. During the complete vehicle inspection, this would have been addressed as a possible symptom if there were symptoms of a blown head gasket.
Firestone got the okay to do the maintenance on the car after advising the item that would correct the symptoms of overheating. The store gave a price for each item for the issue of overheating stated on the complete vehicle inspection. The items listed on the complete vehicle inspection work order ** show symptoms that would fix this issue: Upper radiator hose, remove and replace radiator hose - one thermostat, remove and replace thermostat and/or outlet antifreeze gallon. After maintenance and a call to tell us the head gasket was blown, they advised that we drove into the store with a blown head gasket. This was unacceptable. We advised that the car did not have a blown head gasket when we drove the car in. There were no signs of an engine having a blown head gasket. Furthermore, during the complete vehicle inspection, qualified service maintenance technicians would have noticed if there were signs revealing any symptoms of a blown head gasket, but it did not.
A week before the car ran hot, I had my oil changed by Mobile 1 Lube Express. There was no blown head gasket. I have paperwork showing radiator fluid due for service. After 2 hours in Firestone care during maintenance, I believe this was when they blew the head gasket because they did not diagnose a problem elsewhere and during their service maintenance checks and testing, resulted in a blown head gasket. From discussing this with the store manager, they advised that there is a possibility that it could have happened, but a one in a million chance. I believe this happens to be that one chance that it happened to be. I have the original documentation with complete vehicle inspection and I believe if a blown head gasket was something we drove into the store with, it would have been identified as the symptom on the complete vehicle inspection and not after quoting a price of what the symptoms were to fix the problem. Head gasket was not identified on the initial complete vehicle inspection. It was not on the work order during the inspection with qualified service mechanics.
We were told to take the car and leave after arguing and not accepting what had happened during their service maintenance. We were told the car was now running in better condition than what we drove in because they had supposedly changed out the items above. We drove the car home, the car was idling up and down, misfiring and still running hot. We drove in, the car would run hot after about 5 minutes. The car runs hot immediately. Luckily, we live only a couple of blocks away. The next day, we had the car towed to another auto repair shop, Mill Creek Transmissions & Auto Repair. Out of our pocket we had to pay $1,528.00 for the following repairs to the car after Firestone maintenance: Head gasket set, timing belt, water pump, radiator, oil and filter, and labor.

The records should reflect enough of repeated problems with repairs showing returns to Firestone. In addition, the staff is nice but the work quality is not adequate. I will close my Firestone account with no plans to return as a customer. I am entitled to a refund in addition to a fluid problem they could not exactly identify. I will look over my records and write a detailed letter, because I have to address the timeline for the occurrences. I think this is unneeded because it is recorded and a mechanical/administrative manager can note there were problems and I went in enough.
How can one expect me to take it back over and over, and other problems were experienced with other repairs or work. The workmanship, the checking, and the repairs are not up to par. I want my money refunded for the $289.00 for the power steering. I paid in full the $689 and other Firestone bills prior. I am paying for a service that was not completed and which I have returned. If I recall the power steering had been done for only a few months, had problems, then stopped at Firestone Hwy 80w for repairs. In April, Hwy 80 'bled' the power steering lines. Then, I experienced problems with the power steering on April 28, 2012. Other problems I noticed was at I-55, after some work they left a cover from under the hood on top of the car.
As I drove down the interstate, it was flapping and I returned back. At first they said nothing here, then looked, lifted the lid, and put the cover back on underneath the hood. It was left on top of the van outside on the windshield. There is more but I rather put it in a letter in a written timeline when I view my records. Please send me the address, name, department, and direct number for the hierarchy of command for the next three persons up. Bottom line - I want my refund; it can be negotiated, but I see full or majority refund for time, inconveniences, tows, lack of transportation, paying others for transportation to get around myself, frustrations, and lack of proper repairs.
This is a valid complaint and request for refund based on all considerations. Thank you to the person who will utilize their rightful power/position to rightfully refund me. For now, I am overpaying with the finance charges which are too high for a service that was not performed and executed properly. The evidence is in Firestone records if examined and if they were fully recorded, and my valid complaint. In addition, I do not understand after all the repairs to the van - why three major fluids were drained in my van as much as I took the Millicent Shelby Chevrolet Van in to Firestone over those several consecutive months?

I've visited the Firestone at 2665 W. Main Street in Frisco, TX several times. I spoke to several of the advisors. ** (the store manager) is one of the rudest people I've interacted with. I had problems with my car and asked him for his opinion. He was quick with me and overtalked me. I asked him to repeat it (because I wasn't clear). When you talk to Mr. **, he's short and gives off an attitude as if you need him and he can do without our business. My husband noticed this also. I got my car fixed there anyway, and was happy with the repair. While waiting, I spoke to another customer. This lady stated that she has noticed the same thing. The store manager should be a better example for his staff. Neither I nor my family will take our cars there again because of Mr. ** attitude. My advice to Firestone, move Mr. ** to another location that will humble him. Frisco needed this Firestone but not if Mr. ** is there tearing down the business.

In October 2011, I took my 2010 van into Firestone to look at my brakes. I was told 1 rotor and all 4 brake pads were bad. They changed my brakes and the total was $400+ but they told me there is a 1 year warranty. In late January early February 2012, my brakes started squealing and grinding so I took it back to Firestone (because of the warranty) and was told it was only because of the dust on my rotors and because we "must" ride our brakes.
They told me they would not change my brakes because it was not their fault. They cleaned my rotors and said I should be good. Now, it is June 2012, my brakes are completely shot along with two rotors that are bad. We are grinding metal to metal and took the van back to Firestone and they said our warranty is out and they will not do anything about it. I explained to them that we brought it back in January or February and they turned us away. They will not back up their warranties as they will try to find fault of the driver for whatever reason it is. I would seriously think twice before taking your car for any reason (including oil changes) to Firestone.

I was told to properly align the car, we would have to replace the struts, etc. on the opposite side also even though there was no damage to that side. The insurance company has refused to pay for any damage other than that associated with the passenger side of the car. I have shopped with Firestone many times over the years, so I fully trusted Marc's direction. He even said he would not replace, just the right side even if I asked him to. I called the Ford dealership at the Avenues locally and asked if the struts on both sides would have to be replaced and was told no. Because of Marc's guidance, I expected the insurance company, Progressive, to pay the repair bill less the deductible. Instead of receiving back $400, we received a check for $123.10. This is my daughter's car and she is a single mother who cannot afford unnecessary payments. As I said over the years, my whole family has used your services. If the work was unnecessary, can that portion be refunded?

I took my car to my local Firestone service center for a second opinion, after a diagnostic by the Ford dealership revealed $1,250 in repairs for control arm bushings on my ‘07 Mercury Milan. Prior to dropping my car off, I called and spoke with the manager Kevin and was immediately told that it was rare to have problems with the control arm bushings in a ‘07 car. So I dropped it off for the diagnostic. The next day, the manager Kevin called and informed me that he and the lead tech were 99% sure that struts were causing the noise and not the bushings the dealership indicated. I approved the repairs. The next day I was called to pick up my car. I paid $760. But when I got in the car and proceeded to back out, my car was still making the same noise.
I immediately went back into the service center and informed them that the problem had not been fixed. The guy at the desk went out and did a test drive with me and confirmed he was hearing a noise too, but indicated that manager would be out until Monday and he was unable to remedy the situation. I left my car there and on Monday I called to get a status report, but was told the manager was now out of the office until Wednesday and I'd have to wait until he returns. The assistant manager tells me the lead tech checked out my vehicle and they were now leaning towards the same conclusion as the dealership, the control arm bushings, and that they could meet me halfway on the cost of the additional repairs. Needless to say, I'm pissed! I have been duped into getting my struts replaced when that was not the problem.

On April 19, 2012, I had an alignment (front only because an alignment shim was needed to be purchased for the rear; I did not get the shim - so, only a front alignment was done). After the successful alignment, there were no red marks/notes appearing for the front. Shortly after the April 19th alignment, the car was in a hard-hit accident to the front-end. So, on May 21, another front-end alignment had successfully been done (still no alignment shim for the rear). Again, there were no red marks/notes appearing for the front.
On May 26, 2012, I purchased ($90.12 total) the rear alignment shim and had an alignment done for both the front and the rear. This was done because of a five-day trip beginning on June 1st. This time, after the shim installation, there were several red marks/notes for the unsuccessful alignment. So it seems that installation of the shim caused Firestone to not be able to properly align the vehicle - red marks were put after the shim and not before the shim. Can the vehicle ever be aligned properly with the alignment shim with no red marks for front or rear? Should I have the shim removed (get a $90.12 refund) and simply get a tight and proper alignment for the front with no red marks (such as the nice alignments done on April 19 and May 21)?
I prefer to keep the shim, but only if a good or proper alignment can be done for both the front and rear (with no red marks/notes)! If this is not resolved very soon prior to May 31st (because I will be out of town with the car for five days beginning on June 1st), I will contact the BBB and the City of Chicago’s Department of Consumer Affairs. If Firestone can provide a "loaner" car for my five-day trip to Indiana and Ohio, then there will not be such a rushed time-frame for doing the proper alignment on the front and rear and there will be no need for me to contact the BBB and the City of Chicago’s municipal court at 400 W. Superior.

To my dismay, when I picked up my car, I saw a large scratch at the back of the driver side. I immediately showed it to Larry (who I believe was in charge at that time) to see if he can help me. He told me to come back the next day because the person who checked my car when I took it there left for the day.
The next day, I went back and looked for Miguel (the guy who checked my car before I left it for tire replacement). He was on his way out with me to show him the damage when the manager, Ron, immediately followed us showing me some paperwork stating that the damage was pre-existing. He didn't even allow Miguel to talk to confirm the damage. He talked about other issues with my car without addressing the issue I was complaining about. Same place and service advisor Blake who was very condescending and when I showed him my pass invoice, thinking that he would see that I was serious about servicing my vehicle. One of the things needed was a wheel bearing I agreed to service and in 2 1/2 hours I was done. I should have called an auto part store to get the price of the hub bearing before agreeing to service, but I did not. The turnover of management and staff (service advisors and mechanics) has been extensive. On 5-03, I brought my 1999 Chrysler T&C Minivan in for brake inspection. I was "shown" that the rear brake shoes "fell off" when the technician took the rear passenger wheel off and that the rear cylinders were totally not functioning. I told the service advisor, Eric, and technician, Anthony, and another technician (name unknown) that I planned to sell the van and wanted to pay the least cost to get it safe for the next owner. Eric handed me an estimate for all 4 brakes, wheel cylinders, pads, rotors, calipers, hoses, drums, shoes and combination kit and brake fluid flush and replacement as follows: Parts - $1,053.45, Labor - $867.40, Shop Supplies - $25.00, Tax - $136.21,Total - $2,082.06
Parts - $118.73, Labor - $100.00, Total - $218.73. The mechanic stated that he would take his own family in this van (after brake repairs) with total confidence as to safety and functionality. I drove the van and the brakes work excellently!
Same Firestone service advisor, John (no longer there) quoted me $395.00 + labor for fuel pump for same van. I asked, "Where are you getting the part?" He said, "From Autozone, right next door". I called Autozone and the manager told me the part was $129.00. I called John back and he said "$395.00 is what Autozone quoted me". I called Autozone back and the manager said, "Absolutely not true! " I threatened to report John and Firestone to Corporate at which point John installed the fuel pump for $129.00 + labor. John attempted to charge me over 300% mark up for this fuel pump.
** (current manager) quoted me around $378.00 to replace the spark plugs, distributor cap, rotors and wires for my 1998 Nissan Sentra. My mechanic at Gulf did the repairs for $144.00. A control mod/unit and spark plugs were replaced. The charges amounted to $458.45. The service engine light stayed on. I took the car back the next day. I was told then that the car needed a catalytic converter which would amount to $710. I told the service technician I couldn't get this fixed at this time. Two weeks later, the car wouldn't start. I had the car towed back to Firestone and the technician said I needed a fuel pump, which costs $680.
At this point, I don't know what to believe. I paid $90 for a diagnostic test which should have identified what the actual problem with the car the first time. It seems like Firestone just starting coming up with one problem after another. I have a charge account with Firestone Complete in Memphis, TN. Whenever you pay your bill in the store, you are not credited as having paid until it is received in the offices of Credit First N.A. (PO BOX 81344, Cleveland, OH 44188-0344). The problem is no matter how early you go in to pay your bill, you are not credited as having paid until the store sends it and it is received in their offices. If it arrives after the due date, you are charged double the monthly amount; in my case, it’s $24.00. I don't understand how your payment doesn't transmit to their offices as soon as the bill is paid in the store.
If you try to mail your bill, they'll charge you if it arrives in their offices after the due date. How will a consumer know when their offices have received the payment other than to send it certified mail? If you try calling in to pay the bill on the phone, you are charged $10.00 or $15.00. They can hold your bill for as long as they want and say it was sent after the due date (from the store) or arrived late in the mail.
You also have to pay them in cash. I have gone into the store plenty of time for my bill to be sent and have sent my bill in the mail in plenty and have been charged twice a late fee. I've noticed on my bill for May a late payment warning and I quote: "If we do not receive your minimum payment by the payment due date, you may have to pay a late payment fee of as much as $35.00. Minimum payment warning: if you make only the minimum payment each month, you will pay more in interest and it will take you longer to pay off your balance." I believe that makes it virtually impossible to get your payment in a timely manner in order to be able to charge late fees. None of this is explained to you in advance also.

When I picked my vehicle up, I was told that the light would not come on and that everything was done that needed to be done on the vehicle.
I went on vacation to Alabama that day and returned on Tuesday, March 13, 2012. On March 18, 2012, I took my vehicle to Firestone to get a standard oil change. They kept my car from 8:11am until 3:15pm. On the morning of March 27th on my way to work, my car began to pull and make a strange noise. I was able to make it to work and back home. Once I got home, I called Firestone and let them know my check engine light was back on and exactly what my car was doing and that I was not able to drive the car.
Firestone sent a tow truck to get my car and I was left without a vehicle for 2 days. I was told several different stories about my vehicle as to why it was not fixed because it was a turbo vehicle and Firestone doesn’t work on turbo vehicles, etc. Firestone kept my car until March 29th at 4:47pm. I was assured the problem was fixed and that the smoke that was coming from the vehicle was normal because of the service they performed on the car. I paid for the part that I was told my car needed and was told I would not be charged for the labor.
My car continued to smoke the next day. I called Firestone and asked them if it was normal. I was told it was by Randy. On March 31st around 12:30, my car began to smoke heavily and pull again and the check engine light began to flash again. I called Firestone but did not receive an answer. So I immediately took the vehicle to them and explained to them what happened and let Randy and Neil see the smoke and hear the noise coming from the vehicle. I was then told they would have to look at my vehicle and see what the problem was. I called Firestone around 3:00pm and was told the parts they needed had to be ordered and would not be in until Tuesday, April 3rd. I explained to them I needed transportation to and from work and to get my children to school every day but I was told since I was not getting charged for labor.
I called the consumer complaint line and spoke to a representative and was given this case #**. She told me she would call the store and see about me getting a rental because I told her I spoke with Stoney and he told me he did not know the process. She called me back and told me the store manager said no, he would not give me a rental car because he was not charging any labor. I felt as though that was very inconsiderate knowing that I have a job and 2 children to get to school and other errands to run. I spoke with someone concerning my complaint on Monday and was given a rental car on April 2nd. Neil was very rude and treated me as if the situation was my fault and that giving me a rental shouldn’t have been an option but like I explained to him several times, I need my own transportation.
Once again when I picked my car up on April 3, 2012, I was told it was fixed by Randy and that it was a part broken and that everything was fixed and I should not have any more problems. Now, here it is April 22, 2012, only 19 days and I had the same problem. Today, my car began to pull and slow down and the check engine light came on. I am stuck again, without transportation.
I called the complaint line and left my information for someone to contact me ASAP. I am very upset that this has happened again to my vehicle. My car is not working and I do not have transportation to work. I do not want that Firestone to even work on my car again because they have only caused more problems. I need a rental car until my vehicle is 100% fixed for good. I feel as though I should be reimbursed for all the money I have paid to get my car repaired. I have spent at least $600.00 to have my car repaired ($527.81 on March 10, 2012 and $91.30 on March 29, 2012.). It is not fair that after all this money has paid, my vehicle still is in the same nonworking predicament and in worse condition than what it was before I ever brought it to Firestone. It never smoked or pulled or made loud noises until they began working on it. Someone please contact me immediately about this claim.

On another occasion, I was told that the same SUV needed inner tie rod ends and that it could not be aligned until they were replaced. Again, this was not the case.
A professional mechanic inspected the vehicle and determined that the problem was not the tie rod ends, but the upper ball joints and the pitman arm! Also, I took the vehicle in for a tire rotation, which they said they did, but we could tell they didn't. The front right tire had excessive wear from bad alignment and that same tire was still in the same position after the rotation was supposedly done, proving they didn't actually do it!

I explained I had paid almost $1,000 to fix the head gasket and oil leak. He informed me the reason my engine went was oil was leaking into the motor. I had been noticing some leaking but couldn't find where it was coming from.
Then just today, my battery had to be replaced which I bought from Firestone 3 years ago. They informed me it was the wrong kind of battery for my car. It was placed under the rear seat without being properly vented, etc. They had just stuck it there without being properly done. It could have caused a fire and released acid smells into my car.
A couple of weeks ago, I dropped my car off at a Firestone for a routine oil change. The tech pushed all my headlight buttons and got them stuck. I told the counter person, and he got angry with me and argued that the tech said he didn't touch the buttons. I showed him how the buttons were all stuck, but he wouldn't listen. I unplugged the back of the control box and said I would never be back. The counter person said, "Good. Have a good day."
I am a senior. My family is furious with Firestone! I have forked over a lot of money to Firestone. It's stopped now! Firestone technicians should be parking cars, not working on them!

I had 4 new tires installed at the Howell Mill Firestone store. I left my van for service to install the new tires. I received a call that my van was completed about 3 hours later. I asked that they put my spare tire back under the van when the new tires were done. When I received the van back, I looked under the van and the tire wasn’t under the van. I opened the back door and the tire rolled out on me due to the van was parked on a small incline. I had to go back in and ask again to have the tire put back. About two weeks later, I drove the van and noticed that the van was wobbling at around 60 miles per hour. I took my van to the dealer to see if something was wrong with the suspension. I also had the front end aligned at Firestone when I had the tires installed. I bought the lifetime alignment some time prior at a different Firestone.
Anyway, the dealership told me that the tires were not balanced and that they were over inflated. I had the dealership lower the pressure to the allowed setting. The dealership asked me if I wanted them to balance the tires, I declined due to the tires were new from Firestone and that I would take it back to them. I went back to Firestone on 4/9/2012 and told them what the dealer told me and also said I would bring the van back at 7am when they open. No problem.
I got back to Firestone this morning, 4/10/2012, and told the guy at the counter what I needed done. He told me that he had no one working yet and there would be a wait. So, I asked how long the wait would be. He told me again that there would be a wait and I asked again how long before he could say anything. The manager started yelling at me and said that they weren’t open yet. I hadn't realized that it was 10 min till 7am. I asked what his problem was and he kept yelling at me and never did apologize to me. I asked him for the boss’ number and he told me he was the boss. I said no, I want your boss’ number and he finally scribbled it on a torn off piece of paper and just the boss’ number and not his name. I had to ask someone else for his name.
I have had enough at this point and sat down then he came back in and asked where the keys were. I handed them to him and he pulled it into the bay. That started working on my van and I went out to watch. He pointed out that I had a screw in the back tire and I told him that was why I brought the road hazard. They took off all the tires and re-balanced them and removed the screw. The screw hadn’t gone through the tire, it was a small one. I continued to watch them work and put the tires back on the van. I also noticed that the guy that put the tires back on didn't torque any of the lug nuts on all the tires when I came in the day prior, I also wanted one of the tire sensors replaced. They didn't even mention that until the guy working on it got out of the van and said the warning system was on. I informed him and the manager that was discussed yesterday and was to be addressed this morning. The manager shouted in to the girl working at the time what was the status of the sensor. She told him that it would be later on in the day before it would be there.
This is a list of the things that that did wrong the first time that I had the tires installed. They did not balance the tires, no valve stem caps on any of the tires, did not put the spare back under the van, did not check the tire pressure, did not road test the van, did not clean the blue of the raised lettering that was showing. This is a list of the second visit that they did wrong. They did not torque the lug nuts, did not road test, did not give me any paper work, did not repair the sensor that I asked for the day prior, and finally, literally yelled at me for asking how long it might take to get the repairs done.
I called his boss and he apologized for the rudeness of the manager and I told him I just wanted my van repaired and he suggested that I bring it to his store in Druid Hills. I asked him to order the sensor and call me when it comes in and I would make an appointment. I have gone to Firestone in Douglasville and never had any problems. The only reason I went to the Howell Mill store is it is close to my work. I would strongly suggest that if your car or van needs work, not to take it to the Howell Mill Firestone store. I drive the back roads so I still don't know if the van is still wobbling.

I am a return customer of Firestone. I called and spoke with the store manager ** at 314-869-2626 and made an appointment on April 2nd. I explained that my car is displaying the check service engine and the car is continuously dying. I was advised that it was the idle speed control valve, which I paid $380.00 for the part in addition to the labor.
When I picked up the car later that evening, it was in worse shape than when I took it in for service. I called Firestone the next day and explained about the issue. I was asked to bring it back and they would test drive it to see if any issue would occur while in their possession. They called me back and indicated that they found no problems of what I had reported.
I took the car back home and again, it was experiencing the same problem. I had another mechanic look at the car after I explained that I had the idle speed control valve replaced. He immediately stated that the part on the car was not new and that in fact, I was given back what I thought to be the old part. The mechanic looked inside the box only to discover that the new part was in the box and never replaced with the old part. My significant other immediately contacted ** at 2:45 on April 6th and explained what we had discovered.
We took the car back immediately to have the new part placed in the car. I was furious as I paid for a service and not once but several times explained that the car was not running properly and was in worse shape after several days had passed. On Sunday, April 8th, the check engine light came back on when starting the car. The idle surge up so fast which is not was it should be doing. I have taken my car back.
As of today April 9th, I’m still waiting to hear what they plan to say what the issue is now. I think after this last appointment, I will never let Firestone service my car again. It is so unfair that we pay for an expensive service and the experience is not a good experience only to feel ripped-off.

When I went to pick up my car it would not stay running, I was told that my valves were bent. Running hot don’t bent valves. I paid for the repair in the amount of $625.00. The car is still in the lot and that was November 2011. It is now March 2012, I do feel that I was treated unfair, was told one thing and when I came to pick up my car it would not stay running. It was not like that when I drove it to the shop, not satisfied with car repair.

Firestone 90024 tried to rip me off but failed: Appointment was made over the phone a day before with Chris ** and online through Firestone for 7 am the next day. I brought in my car by appointment at 6:50 am the next day for a coolant leak. The car was written up by Jovanni. I told him I know where the leak is and brought in a new coolant hose that needed to be replaced. Jovanni told me they need to inspect the whole cooling system and initial estimate was for $69.99 for cooling system diagnostic. I agreed to this and asked him to call me as soon as they learn anything. He wrote the coolant hose part number on the back of his invoice for reference. I live around the corner from this Firestone (90024) and decided to walk by at around 11 am to see if they are looking at my car. I see the car parked just outside one of their stalls. No one was working on it. At about 2 pm, I get a call from one of their mechanics, Saen (pronounced Shawn).
He tells me that the car has several coolant leaks; they will need to replace those hoses that leak as well as the throttle housing and gasket as the two hoses that attach to it are also leaking and the throttle housing is corroded at the hose connections. I tell him I'll be right over and arrive 10 minutes later by foot. I asked Saen to show me where he found the leaks and the throttle housing corrosion. He points at some coolant hoses at the thermostat and the heating core area. The engine is dry as a bone. At this point, I suspect that Firestone didn't even do a system diagnostic since the engine bay and under the car is dry as a bone. I tell him there is nothing wrong with those other hoses he pointed out and nothing wrong with the throttle housing.
My car is a 1988 model. Some corrosion at coolant hose connections is expected. He calls Chris ** who tells me they cannot just change the hose. I know leaks and I want to change the bunch of hoses and throttle housing they want or I can leave and he won't even charge me for the coolant system diagnostic. I tell him that by calling at 2 pm and telling me his lies, he has wasted my day. I cannot possibly go to another mechanic at the end of this day and will need to take time off to go another day. This is the kind of "service" I would expect from Joe's Garage, but not from Firestone. Shame on Firestone for hiring such dishonest people like Saen the "mechanic" and Chris ** the "service advisor". Shame on you people!

This is my second complaint against Firestone Complete Auto Care. I have been going back and forth to Firestone since December 2011. Throughout all of this, I have been dealing with the manager ** in the Newburgh, NY site. As I have stated previously, this has been going on for a while after I took my car to the Wappingers Falls, NY site. I went in for a simple tire balancing because the front right wheel felt like it was shaking. Ever since that visit, the problem with my car seems to be getting worse (noise, etc.). I will say during one of my many visits to Firestone they did replace my tires because they were worn due to improper balancing and whatever else was done to my car, but this does not rectify the matter if the problem was not fixed. It’s only going to cause these tires to wear improperly. At this time, I decided to take my car to 2 different mechanics and have them look at it and both told me it was the bearings. Mind you, previously Firestone and Honda told me it was not the bearings, suspension, or struts, yet I continue to have a lot a problems since Firestone worked on my car.
I called ** on 3/23/12 and told him what the two mechanics told me. He asked me to bring it in for them to look at it because he really didn’t think it was the bearings. He stated if it was the bearings, it was not a mistake caused by Firestone. I told him that’s not what I was told by other mechanics. I told him that they told me if the balancing or alignment was not done properly, this could cause damage to the bearings and Firestone did both. He then said if it was the bearings, it could be done for the amount $450-$500. I told him if it was the bearings, I would not allow them to do the work on my car. He told me to bring it in on 3/27/12, but call the day before and speak with him. I did not bring it in on 3/27/12 because when I called on 3/26/12, he was not working. So I tried for 3/30/12 and on that morning when I called, ** told me that it would be a long wait and said I can’t come in then because I have to go to work. I then made an appointment to bring it in on 4/1/12 at 10 am.
On 4/1/12, I arrived to Firestone Newburgh at 10 am. About 15 minutes later, the mechanic took my car into the shop and put it on the lift. From the time the mechanic took my car into the shop, I was watching to see what was being done to my car. At 11:03 am, I went to the desk and asked ** how long before my car is ready. He told me that the technician was working on my car now and it should not be long. That was a lie because the whole time my car was in the shop, no one was working on it. After 10 minutes, I finally saw a technician go over to my car and spin the wheels and shake them. He then came out and asked me what the noise was and he was going to test drive it. The car was pulled out of the shop, but never left the parking lot. Yet the mechanic comes and tells me he took it for a test drive. This is beyond the worse service place ever. If you are a woman, they will try every trick in the book. I know I was treated like this because I had filed a complaint against them. All I want now is to have this kind of treatment to stop and whatever action can be taken against Firestone to be done. All they did was cause more and more problems to my car and try to pacify me with there lies. I don’t believe they tried to fix the problem. I will never go back to them again nor do I want them to contact me.

Another time, a routine brake job ended up costing me approximately $500. This is the third time this has happened to me at Firestone. A $100 job winds up costing five times the honest job! My youngest son is in College in Chicago, IL. He came home on a break to visit. While raining, he hydroplaned and hit a curb. We towed the car to Firestone, where he had had work done for years with other cars. They convinced him to get four new tires. They said that the frame was slightly bent and they could not fix that part. I was really concerned for him to make the trip back to Chicago, before getting a body shop to repair it. So, I was really uneasy! The Firestone dealer and manager assured us that it would be fine for the trip.
My son needed to get back for school and work. He had traveled about 30 miles from his destination, when the car started driving really bumpy. The rear passenger tire had come off! The car was completely totaled! He could have been killed! They found parts and nuts and bolts on the other side if the interstate! There was nothing left of the car!
Evidently, the lug nuts weren't tightened well enough for this to happen. We called Firestone and they are saying that they are not at fault! The rear tires had nothing to do with the front problem! I think someone needs to step up and admit and pay the price! My son gets his Associates Degree in Criminal Justice and Psychology this coming May, and he's only 21 yrs old! I am so proud of him! He works two to three jobs plus goes to school full time! This isn't right!

I had a bad experience at the Hermitage store on Lebanon pike. I got 2 tires put on last week. I came back this week to have another one put on. I waited a while got tired of sitting and walked outside to look at my van in the stall. I could not believe my eyes! The young man had my van jacked up in the rear in the center of the rear "axle". The "axle" is a very small metal channel, not made to lift the weight of the van. I called the service writer over, showed him that the "axle" was bending in the middle where the jack was. How stupid! I believe he did this to my car because I didn't want an alignment. The service writer asked the "mechanic" to move the jack. He did so reluctantly. I went back in and sat down.
I waited until my van was ready, paid and went to my van looked at the new tire's okay. I looked at the other rear tire, I asked to have balanced and it was never touched! I was livid, the mechanic said he balanced the wheel on the inside and left the "old" wheel weight on the outside. There were dried leaves still stuck in the wheel cover and the tire was obviously low on air. I cannot believe this guy, to let a car leave your shop with low air. Not only did they tell me that they wouldn't honor the warranty, that I had to go back to the original store that did the work, but that I also needed new plugs, plug wires, fuel filter and a fuel injection service. All of which had already been done within the last 30,000 miles. Now, they’re telling me that they can't find anyone to either deliver or go get the part and I have to wait for the rest of the day to get my car back. As far as I'm concerned, Pueblo's store are a bunch of rip-off artists that saw a single woman with out-of-state plates and decided to try to take advantage of her. I took my vehicle into the Firestone on 3715 Randall Dr, Colorado Springs, CO earlier today for an alignment and a wheel balancing. My first complaint is that I scheduled the appointment days ahead of time, but still had to wait for over two hours before my vehicle was serviced. My second complaint was that the service representative was condescending to more than a few customers while I was waiting for my vehicle, even making a racial stereotype joke about my vehicle. Third, they never test drove my vehicle after the alignment. It still does not track correctly and the wheel is off-center. Fourth, when they balanced my tires, they put my studded winter tires in front! I am glad I noticed this, as my car is RWD and would have most likely spun out on the snow.

I had service work done at the Firestone store, 7700 E. Kellogg, Wichita, KS. This involved replacing three parts on my Ford Ranger pick-up, the blower motor without wheel, blower motor switch, and the blower motor resistor. In my opinion, the prices charged for these parts were extremely excessive. I was charged $76.25, $62.21, and $78.00 respectively. I compared these prices with three auto parts supply stores, and found I could buy them at full retail (average price); $43.32, $20.56, and $21.32 respectively for the three parts. This is a mark-up of 176%, 303%, and 366%, respectively. I have had telephone conversations with the Okla City Dist. Mgr., and the Sr. Cust. Retention Specialist (Asst. to the President) about my feelings on this matter. Their response was that because they have over 1,000 stores nationwide, are open 7 days a week, offer a 12/12 warranty, and pay good wages and benefits, they are entitled to charge two, three and even four times mark-up for the parts.
I related to them that I did not agree, and in fact, thought I had "been fleeced and had my pocket picked", and in my opinion, is neither equitable or ethical. I then went online to Car Talk (National Public Radio Program), and asked their opinion. They said "yes, that is a high mark up. Usually it is only a 30% mark up on parts". On 2/15/2012, I took my 2005 Chevy Equinox in for an oil change and tire rotation. I received a call that I needed to get a back wiper blade and a new battery. I told them that my car was running fine and I didn't want a battery. When I went to pick my car up, I couldn't open the door with the door clicker. I opened the door with my key only to find my car completely dead. I went back inside and told them that I found it mighty suspicious that a car that was starting fine was now totally dead. The gentleman, I think his name was Pedro, showed me a chart saying that my battery was only at 450 out of 600 and that is why the battery was dead. I told him that I cannot believe that the battery was totally dead. I said, "You all did something." He then yells out she thinks we broke her battery and then offered me a new battery for $109.00 plus tax. I flew off the handle for him thinking that I was totally stupid. I said, "You mean to tell me that it takes 450 amps to open the car door?" I got on the phone and called my son and he said that if the car did absolutely nothing, that they had disconnected something.
The next thing I know, they offered me the same battery for approximately $85 including tax. I told them no! I said, ""Reconnect my battery," which they did. I have had no problem with my car cranking at all. I know that they were trying to scam me because I'm a woman. Not only scam me, but belittle me as well. I thought the day that being a woman meant you were stupid was over but apparently not. I am going to let the world know how I was mistreated and was tried to take advantage of by Firestone. By the way, my car is starting just fine.

I took my Kia Sportage to Firestone, Fort Shafter Hawaii on Dec 27, 2011. This was my first time taking it to a Firestone. My radiator had a hole in it so I already knew what the problem was. However, the manager named Christian said they still needed to run a diagnostic test and it will cost $71.99. By the way, they don't tell you that the service labor cost $71.99 too so you actually pay around $144 to have a diagnostic just for the radiator done. Anyway, I also mentioned that one of my windshield wipers was not working. I guess the technician who worked on my car noticed right away a screw was loose and just needed some tightening. I was glad that he did not charge me. However, the broken windshield wiper was noted on the courtesy check sheet "Driver wiper arm inoperable".
Today, I had to take my car in because the same wiper arm was not working. I tried to explain to Mr. Christian that I was here in Dec. and complained about my wiper and told him I was not charged to have the screw just tighten. He insisted that I needed to have an electrical diagnostic done which cost $110.00 to do. He pulled up the previous work’s work order to show me that there was no work done on the windshield and therefore I must be making it up. I did not have my paperwork with me. So, I again tried to explain that it was something simple that the technician did to fix. However, he continued to say that there was nothing noted on the computer work order.
I didn't want a diagnostic test and I wouldn't have mind paying for the technician time to just take a look to see if it was the screw again. But to no avail, Mr. Christian said it was not on the work order and therefore made me feel that the only way to fix my wiper was if I would pay for an electrical diagnostic test.
I left the office to drive home to look for my paperwork. I found it and it was written on my Courtesy Check sheet "Driver wiper arm inoperable". I called Mr. Christian to tell him that I would like it noted on the computer that my wiper was looked at back in Dec. He said he could not add a note because the invoice was closed. He also said that they have a copy of the Courtesy check on file. I asked him so why didn't he go and look it up when I was there? His reply was, "What do you want me to do?" I told him I felt you were accusing me of lying about the wiper even though I was adamant about it.
It's obvious that this manager will only look at the computer and not look at a hardcopy to make his decision. He told me that yeah he could have looked at the hardcopy, but what is it I want? I told him I wanted to speak to the manager and he said he was the manager. I told him I would never bring my car to Firestone Fort Shafter again. And now, I plan to tell everyone and anyone about my experience there - especially by the manager. He should be fired. He has no respect and talks down to people.
I want you to know that I ended up taking my car to Goodyear and they charged me $26.47 and that includes an oil change. Last month, I took my car to Firestone, Fort Shafter to have a complete vehicle inspection done. Well, my oil was checked and noted that level was ok. Mr. Christian told me that if fluid levels were low, they would top it off during my complete vehicle inspection. Well it's only been a month. However today, Goodyear looks at it and tells me I need an oil-filter change. Guess who I believe and will go to from now on? That's right, Goodyear! Mr. Christian is a liar and is not to be trusted. He should be fired for being lazy, a liar and ignorant! The only option he offered was to charge me $110 plus to get an electrical diagnostic done.

I took my car up to Firestone and dropped it off to have a state vehicle inspection done on it. When I arrived to pick it up, I was told that it had failed inspection due to a leak in the braking system (that the banjo washers were leaking brake fluid) and that the car would need several costly repairs. Despite my disbelief, I bit my lip and gave them the benefit of the doubt (I had 4 mo. previously completely replaced the entire braking system).
I took the car home and removed and inspected the banjo washers in question. There was absolutely nothing wrong with them. I then looked in my driveway and at my garage floor for any brake fluid accumulation that would surely accompany such a condition. I found none! I have done several oil changes since completing my brake work, and when doing so, I always check all the fluid levels, especially the brake fluid! It appeared with most certainly that it had not leaked a drop! It then occurred to me that they must have loosened the brake line to mimic part failure.
I then took my car back up to Firestone to pick up my inspection sticker. After returning, I told the manager what I had concluded, and how disappointed I was. He listened indifferently and acted annoyed with my presence.
Had it not been for my extensive experience with auto service (I used to do it for a living at one time) I surely would have been unwittingly duped into paying hundreds of dollars for unneeded repairs. I've never had to be the "whistle blower" before but the thought of this and how many other people have and will pay for fraudulent repairs makes me angry! I hope this complaint reaches the right eyes, and that somehow, someway puts an end to these dishonest tactics. Firestone Complete Auto Care is located at 12923 S. Hwy 71 Grandview, MO. We took my 2003 Kia Spectra to Firestone Woodinville WA to have the valve cover gasket removed and replaced. To do this, they told us we needed a high mileage oil change. The next day after we picked up the car, we still smelled oil burning and over the next month a half that smell got increasingly worse (giving us headaches, etc.). Finally we decided to go to another company. They took one look at the car and said that the valve cover gasket needed to be removed and replaced because oil was leaking on the engine. This other company then truly fixed the car. I did get a partial refund for what we were charged by Firestone Woodinville.

I was skeptical about this recommended service, so I took my vehicle to a small mechanic shop to confirm the need for this service. Not only did this mechanic report that my vehicle was not in need of new struts and shocks, but that, if needed, his charge would be about $700. In light of Firestone's shady business practices, I have now decided to seek other car service centers for oil changes and repairs.

My father sat there another two hours and they kept taking other cars in before they would fix mine. When my father said something to the manager, he yelled and said that it wasn't their problem and that I needed new tires. I just bought new tires on Nov 18, 2011. I do not need new tires. He said this without even looking at the tires. My father was doing me a favor in taking my car over for a front end alignment and he had to sit there from 10 am until 3 pm. On 1-21-12, I had my brakes repaired by my Kona Muffler Repair. When I picked up my van, the mechanic informed that the passenger wheel that was about to blow the wire on the inside was already showing through. I bought tires from the Kaiula-Kona Firestone less then a year ago and they are still under warranty. I drove directly from Kona Muffler to Firestone where the service clerk agreed that the tire needed to be replaced and was still under warranty. Firestone could not fix the tire on that day so I scheduled an appointment for Monday 1-23 at 12 pm. I asked the service clerk if we could drop my car off in the morning before I went to work. She said no, someone had to be here to sign for it so my husband decided to take a half a day off of work on Monday.
On Monday, my husband dropped our vehicle off at noon. At 2:15, he had heard nothing from Firestone so he walked back up and was told they needed 45 more minutes. Unfortunately, this is our only vehicle and he could not wait any longer. He needed to come and get from work so I asked to speak to the manager to try and figure out how we could resolve this situation and get the tire fixed before it blew and caused us or someone else injury. The service manager was Carl C. He was extremely rude to my husband. He told Alex, my husband, that he had two employees call in sick and he was working too. He never offered an apology and was trying to argue with my husband. My husband choose to not argue (it wasn't going to do any good) with Mr. C and asked for the keys back.
So my tires are still not fixed. My husband missed a half of day of work and was treated very rudely. I am a supervisor at Kona Community Hospital and I can understand how stressful it can be when your employees call in sick but it was no reason for Mr. C to take it out on my husband. When I am running late with my outpatient, I call and let them know and give them the option of rescheduling or coming in later. I do not make people wait three hours past their appointment time and not even let them know what is going on. Very poor customer service. If Firestone cannot meet their obligations and fix my tires then I want my money back. This situation needs to be resolved immediately before my tire blows. I feel Firestone is responsible for any loss of wages, rental car etc. I need a response ASAP please. I am on call at the hospital this weekend and I need a reliable car.

On 12/31/11, I took 2004 Impala in for oil change. I asked if they would check fluid levels. Before they did oil change, it came up with about $700 of additional work: $283 part that costs $82. They told me it had a coolant leak and needed a manifold set. I would have to do pressure test to determine where the leak is. They only did oil change. It ran hot after leaving, no water in reservoir and hardly any in radiator. I couldn't crank due to dead battery. I had it repaired a few days later which only cost $100 for hose replacement. I did not need manifold set, only small hose.
There was a hole in hose. Also, it was almost 1 qt low on transmission fluid and needed new battery. The time before this, at another location, they quoted $1500 of work needed. But the location, Saturday, did not refer to any of that work. I would have thought if they knew what they were doing and wasn't lazy or dishonest (whichever fits), they would have detected bad battery. They advised me of transmission fluid, which I would have had them add. And also, should have put water in reservoir. It looks like this store needs follow up on technical work in addition to work ethics evaluation.

I paid $30 for a check and inspection of my air conditioning. They gave me a quote of $1,195 to replace and repair the entire system according to the inspection. When I agreed to the price, they started the work. They guaranteed me that it would be done in one day. At the end of the day, they came and told me they needed another $200 for a part that they had missed during the inspection. I agreed because I was already in too deep. I had no choice if I wanted air conditioning at this point.
The next day, I got in my van and noticed a bad vibration. Before I got three blocks, I had no air. The next day, they replaced a hose or something and the vibration was still there. They told me it was not in the compressor that it was my front end. I had the front end work done at another mechanic because I was already frustrated with Firestone (the location on Cherry Lane in Fort Worth managed by Sue ***).
When that got fixed, there was still some vibration. They checked and said it was not the compressor. About a week later, the van would not start. I took it to a mechanic in Cleburne and they told me that the switch that is built into the steering column had been replaced with a new one. But that the new switch had been modified to work. It had fallen out of place and that is what caused the van to not start. I called Firestone and they said that they had not replaced any switches. I had no proof so I had to pay the other mechanic to fix it. He used the same switch and bent it to fit but I ended up having to pay to have a new steering column put in.
I sent a complaint to the main office but never got a reply. After 13,000 miles the compressor seized and left me stranded again. But as usual, there was fine print on the paperwork. I did have a one year warranty but the labor was not covered because I had been more than 12,000 miles. I believe the vibration was because of the compressor from the beginning. I have no way of proving any of this. All I know is that I have had to spend a lot of money because of this air conditioner and now I am going to be out another $120 for labor on something that was supposed to be guaranteed for one year.
I will never spend another dime at Firestone. I will not ever buy tires there. I will not even let them fix a tire for me for free! I had a low tire and sent it to them to be fixed. They told me it was not fixable and that I needed a new tire. I took it to a tire shop in Cleburne and they found a piece of metal in it and fixed it for me for $7.

This Firestone is in Panama City, Florida on MLK Blvd. Their replacement parts are not to OEM specifications and cause damage. Their techs are 20 years out of date. They changed my factory rear shoes that lasted over 100k miles. They were noisy from day one. Then they started making metallic grinding noise. I took it back and they told me that their shoes were already worn down by 2/3 at 10k miles. The dealer inspected their work and told me the shoes are the wrong shape and my drums were damaged. Same story when they did my front brakes, factory ones lasted, their pads did not and tore up my rotors.
Firestone claimed my fuel filter is past due, and they had to drop the fuel tank to change it, said it will cost over $600 to do the job. Dealer told me the filter is a lifetime filter, and if it needed a change, it can be accessed in minutes through the passenger seat. None of their vehicles require removing the tank in the last 20 years unless you are replacing a damaged fuel tank. Firestone has even screwed up installing their own tires. Tires were way out of balance and vibrated at 40 MPH. They told me nothing was wrong. Took it to another place, and they fixed the balance issue.

My wife took my car into the Firestone on Highway 9 in Alpharetta, GA because of a gas smell. The tech said the problem was the fuel pump. He replaced the fuel pump and the fuel filter. The cost was close to $800.00. After a couple of days, the engine light came on and there was still a gas smell. By this time, I was in Ohio and the Firestone there said it might be a lose hose and cleared the light, made sure that everything was tight and gave the car back. A couple of days later, the engine light came back on and I still had a gas smell. I was back in Alpharetta, GA at that time and took it back to the same Firestone that did the work.
I was told that the tech couldn't find the problem and "thinks" that it might be the gas cap and recommended that I change it. I did that and realized after that the car will give an alert if there was a problem with the gas cap. The engine light came back on and still had the gas smell. I took it back a third time to them and they said that they "don't know" the problem and they "guess" the problem "might" be the EVAP solenoid vale but wasn't sure. They then suggested that we contact the dealer and see if we can find the problem!
I went in and talked with the manager on duty and asked him what was going on. I get a call from them telling me that they don't know what the problem is and that they "guess", "not sure", "might" be the problem! I told them to take my car out and that I had no confidence in them at all and feel since I still have the same problem as when I first brought the car in I doubt that it was the fuel pump and that I was ripped off nearly $800.00. I took it to the dealer and in a very short time was told that there was a recall in for the fuel pump module and they took care of it at no charge. On my way home from work today, I had a tire blow out, while I was driving 55 MPH down the road. I did not hit anything. It just blew up. I got the car under control, and slowly pulled off the road. I got out and looked, and saw a big hole in the sidewall of the tire. I changed the tire, and preceded to meet my son, so that he could run it down to the local Firestone Center, to show them what happened (I had another prior appointment so I could not go myself).
When my son took the tire down, and had Nicholas look at it, he was told that it was drove flat, and there was nothing they could do other than charge me for a new tire. I had just been in to Firestone this past Saturday for an oil change and checkup. I received a sheet saying that the tires were all fine, and inflated to specs. My son said he was treated very poorly, and very unprofessionally, by Nicholas. He stated that Nicholas came across as very arrogant and cocky. He was told by Nicholas that if your dad has a problem, to have him call me. I did. After I told him that I was not pleased with the way that he had treated my son, and was going to let the Firestone regional manager know about this. He then started changing his tune and asked me to bring the tire back down, and he'd take another look at it.
I proceeded to tell him that it would not do either of us any good, for me to bring the tire back down, because I knew what really happened (blown tire), and what would make you change your opinion, that it was caused by me driving the tire flat. After repeatedly asking for a phone number for a regional manager, he finally gave me the name of Mark. I looked online, and saw this site, and thought that maybe this might be the best course of action. The set of tires were purchased on 1/27/2010, and have a little less than 40,000 miles on them. The tires are 117632 Affinity Touring Tires (Black Sidewalls) P195/60R15 87T 70,000 mile rating. I realize that the tires are not new. All I was expecting was a discounted tire price, because the tire was still in good condition, but he quoted my son a full list price. About $110.00, I think. I took my vehicle for an oil change on August 27, 2011 to the Firestone shop in Fort Worth, TX on Bolt St. The mileage at the time of my vehicle was 66,167 miles. The car had been running fine with no problems. On November 19, 2011, I was driving down the expressway on my way home when I noticed that my engine light started blinking, I immediately tried to swerve out of traffic to pull over to the side. As I started merging, I heard like a snapping noise and the car jolted. As soon as I pulled over to the side, I turned my engine off. I opened my hood and there was smoke and I could smell oil. I noticed that there was a trail of oil down the highway that my vehicle had left. I looked underneath my car and also noticed more oil on the ground. I took another look at my engine and I realized there was a 3" inch hole on my engine block. I then looked underneath at the oil pan and I noticed there was no oil drain plug. At this time my vehicle had 71,896 miles. I know the recommended oil change is every 3,000 miles or 3 months, but at 5, 729 miles there is no reason why the oil drain plug should just fall out the way it did.
I towed my vehicle to the Firestone shop where they last performed my oil change and explained to the store clerk what had happened. He told me to take a seat that one of his mechanics would inspect the vehicle. After about 20 minutes of waiting, the mechanic called me up and told me that the engine would have to be replaced and that they would have to cover the damages. I went up to the store clerk and asked him what steps would have to be taken now so that my vehicle could start getting serviced for repairs. He told me Denis the store manager was not in and since it was a Friday he wouldn’t be in until Monday, so that they would call me then.
Since they told me my repairs would be covered, I left with the peace of mind that they had taken liability for the damages. On Monday, I waited around for a call and received none. I was unable to get a ride to the shop until the next day on Tuesday. Denis the shop manager immediately received me. He was very professional and handed me a claims form to fill out so I did. I handed him the form back and he told me that he would fax it immediately to the claims department and that I would receive a call from them so that they could handle the matter.
The next day, Andy from the claims department called me and told me that a third party inspector would be going to the shop to inspect my vehicle and write a report on it. He gave me the claims department main number because he said he would not be in the office for a couple of weeks. He said once they got the report they would give me a call. About a week went by and I patiently waited for a call from them. After not receiving a call, I called the claims department and I could not get through to any of the provided extensions to speak with their agents so I left a couple of messages for them to call me back. Later that day, one of their agents called me and told me that an inspector should be going down to the shop and have a report ready by the end of the day. Again, I was told I would be receiving a call.
A couple of days passed and no call, so for an entire week I was calling them and only got voice machines, so I left an abundant amount of messages. So another week passed by until I finally received a call. The claims agent told me that they had done the inspection and received the report. He then asked me to explain once again exactly what had happened to make sure they understood what had happened. I reiterated to him what I said in my original report. He asked me if there had been any signs of oil leakage before the incident occurred and I told him no there was not. He then told me that unfortunately they were not going to take liability for my vehicles repair.
He told me that since there had not been any signs of leakage as it would lead them to believe that it was wear and tear on part of the oil drain plug and the amount of distance traveled since the oil change before it happened, that they were not at fault for the damage and therefore not liable for the repairs. I told him regardless if there were signs or not it is not normal for the oil drain plug to just fall out. He said he was sorry but that there was not enough evidence to suggest they were at fault.
My vehicle is still at the shop and I am considering taking legal action but I'm not sure if I have enough evidence to support my case, and I'm not sure if I will even be able to afford hiring a lawyer. I am really frustrated as I strongly depend on my vehicle, being that I am a full time college student attending classes on the G.I. Bill I received from serving in the military.

About 5 days later I got a call that my center caps where in so I stopped by to pick them up. When the tech attempted to put the center cap in the first wheel, the one that did not have a center cap, it did not screw in due to they somehow stripped the hole. The other one went in fine with no issue. So I had to contact the store manager once more. He said that they will just get a new rim for my car and I thought that finally they are going to maybe fix the issue that they messed up. Well the store manager told me that it was going to take a few days to get the money together, so I was like why is it going to take so long? He told me that it was a very pricey rim.
I went to the Mazda dealership to find out the price. It was around 1,100 by the time everything was said and done. So I went back to talk to the store manager and I told him that I would let him fix a few issues that I have with the car if he would rather do that then have to save up for a rim and he agreed to do so. We agreed that he would fix the vibration in the wheel, the rear driver side brake caliper, the idle for the car that consist of the rpm and the air/ fuel ratio gauge, the aliment and the gasket. Now he fixed the brake caliper and the two front rotors. He could never find the gasket, so I went out and looked and I found it and paid for it myself at Orileys! He did put the gasket on.
Now just the other day, I had a blow out on my front right wheel. I found out that it was due to not having all of my wheels lug nuts all the way tight. It was wobbling. I called the Firestone 1-800 number at that time because that is just crazy to not have all of my wheel lug nuts not tight. Then I went back to the store and talked to the store manager he said this is a never ending issues with this car, I was felt that that was making me feel like I'm doing something wrong. I mean I'm standing here and you are telling me that this is a never ending issue how do you thinking I feel! This is my car that you are messing up! I have yet to get the refund on my tire like he said he would do since I had a blow out and it was the stores fought since everything was not tight. And they have not fixed all of the issues that they said they would fix!
Also to add in two weeks ago I was at the store and they where fixing the front right wheel bearing and hub well they got the wrong part so I was told they where ordering the correct part again well a few days go by and I have yet to hear from them so I called and I found out that the manager Is on vacation and the part was ordered. Well I found out today the part was never ordered and I was told that he was not fixing anything else he is drawing the line. Well, what about you fixing what you told me you would fix? Well, I have sent a message to the BBB! and the consumeraffairs!

The manager was rude to me from the moment we began discussing the service to my vehicle. I should have just left but I really wanted my a/c evaluated. After an hour of waiting, I asked the manager for an update on my vehicle. This time, the manager was extremely rude and completely embarrassed me in front of other employees and customers. He then had the mechanic abruptly bring my car back to the front and handed me my car keys. I told him that I still wanted my a/c checked. He then castigated me a bit more before continuing evaluation of my vehicle. I tucked my tail between my legs and went back to my corner. About an hour later, the manager presented me with an estimate of $1,788.01, $769 was for a/c work and about $1,000 was for work recommended as a result of using the $14.99 coupon. I left the store.

I am on my 4th trip to Firestone. They fixed 2 leaks that I had; one had to do with the water tank and the other one was beneath the car. My engine light was on, so I took it to Firestone in Millcreek, PA. They fixed leaks and said I might have a hole in the water pump, which turned out to be fine. My engine light is still on and this has been going on since the 10th of the month.
I took it back, and they said I needed a radiator cap, which they then put on for free and the receipt states that my engine light is still on, in which they said that a new radiator cap would fix it. They did not have one for my car so I had to come back the 3rd time for them to install at this time. I inquired about my engine light and asked if it could be reset and when they reset it, the light was off for 2 days. Now, I am going back the 4th time. Why must I go through this for 10 days now?

Just to start, after I get these two new tires that I have to pay for again, I will never go to Firestone again. Their rating is a big zero. In January 2010, I bought four new tires on my daughter's car. A little over a year and a half later, two of the tires that were 50,000 mile tires are going bad at 20,000. I did the normal routine of rotating them but two of them were still bad and bald.
I went to Firestone in East Brunswick, New Jersey Route 18, and I got every excuse on why this happened. The way I see it, they were 50,000 mile tires and only lasted at 20,000. They didn't want to hear it and made every excuse that they could think of. We talked to a guy named Jason, who happened to be the manager (when I asked for a higher management, he said he was it). I am so angry that after a year and a half, I have to buy tires again. And what pisses me off more is that I searched the Internet for Firestone Corp. offices and phone numbers but can't find anything on them. I will never buy anything from them again.

In 12/10, I took my car into Firestone in Garland, TX on Campbell Road because my car was stalling out in the middle of road at random times. They had it four to seven days, ran diagnostic test on it, said that nothing was wrong with it. I drove my car off the lot and the car stalled a block away from their shop. They came out and got the car started and said that they knew exactly what the problem was. They replaced a part and the car ran fine until 9/19/11 when I started having the same exact symptoms.
I took the car in on 9/29/11 at 9:00 a.m. They said that they would call me by noon, they never did. I called them at 2:00 p.m. and they said that the mechanic was working on it. They would call back soon; they did not. I went by there at 4:45 that afternoon and found that the mechanic was working on someone else's car and had not even done the diagnostics on mine.
I called them back at 3:00 today and they said that they cannot find anything wrong with the car--exactly like they had said the last time. They told me to just come get the car until it breaks down! Even though it has a one year warranty on parts, labor, and diagnostics, they refused to replace the part that is doing the exact same thing it was doing the last time and even though the symptoms are exactly the same. I purchased rear brakes and rotors using a promotional receipt for brake pads at $99.00. Immediately upon leaving, I heard a squealing noise from the car. Within a week, I returned and reported the noise. Repair was offered but I was unable to leave the vehicle for the period of time they needed it. I was told that the noise might be due to the new brakes and that they could replace the pads. When I returned again two weeks later, the car was returned to me with no trouble found. As soon as I left, again I heard the noise. Over the course of the next three months, I returned at least three additional times. Each time I was told that they found nothing wrong with the brakes. Each time I left, within a few minutes I heard the noise again. On one occasion, I was told that maybe the noise was with the front brakes. The noise became more noticeable until I reached a point where it was intolerable. This was shortly after they stated in a line item on an oil change receipt that they had done warranty repair on the brakes. I now concluded that perhaps it was the front brakes after so many returns, having them relate that no trouble had been found, and also indicating that they had done warranty repair.
So, I decided to do the front brakes. I allowed the same shop to do the front pads and rotor for three reasons. First, I felt that if they did the fronts, they would own any brake problem that arose. Second, and related, I wanted to avoid any finger pointing that might arise. Third, I could not imagine that after returning so many times that I was dealing with a company that would not have taken basic steps to ameliorate the problem. I could not conceive of the notion that they had not exercised reasonable care in performing their responsibilities.
Within the two mile journey to my home from the shop, I heard brake noise again. I felt it was perhaps due to the fact that the front brakes had just been replaced. I parked the car until the next morning when I drove it for five hours in traffic while listening to a constant squeaking and squealing noise. I returned to the shop and spoke to the owner expressing my utter displeasure with his service. He had been privy to my multiple returns. He had a mechanic take a look at the car. He first rolled it back and forth. He then put it on the lift. The mechanic then called to the owner who then advised me that I needed to replace the left caliper at a minimum, but that both calipers should be replaced. I told him that I was not going to do this because I had no confidence in his shop at this point. I reminded him how many times I had been back there and how just a couple of days ago, I had replaced the front brakes out of frustration, when they, in fact, probably did not need to be replaced. I asked if in all of these returns had they not checked the calipers? I also asked if they had properly reset the calipers during the original rear brake job.
Finally, I asked if they had checked the calipers before. His reply was to call out to the mechanic who indicated the caliper problem for a response. I informed the owner that this was not the mechanic who had worked on my car. I pointed out the one who had and said, "why don't you ask him". The owner's reply was, "you can't understand him. His English isn't that good". At this point, the owner asked what I was going to do. He said if you replace the caliper I will replace the pad free of charge, otherwise I'll have to pay for the pad. I again told him I would not replace the caliper. He then told the mechanic to put the wheel back on. This is when I left. At one point in the conversation with the owner he asked me if he should have had me replace the caliper before it was needed. I told him certainly not. I told him that I did expect him to find out the source of the noise, that I had reported on numerous visits, and for which, they repeatedly reported that no trouble was found.

He told them to call him when they had a solution and estimate. Over 24 hours later, he still had not heard from them so I called. They said they needed to replace a heater system hose that was causing the issue. They also stated that the part had to be ordered and it would be another day or two. Three days later, they called and said that they had the part replaced, but the car wasn't fixed. He needed to have it towed at another shop, which they recommended.
We paid Firestone a total of over $400, plus $120 to have it towed (might I remind you that the car drove there with no problems and barely overheating). The second mechanic said that the engine is blown. And this is a very evident problem, to any certified mechanic, especially when running diagnostics. The only logical thing we can guess is that they saw a hose with a bad spot in it. They assumed that was the problem, without doing any investigating or diagnostic tests (which we paid for), and in the meantime running the car which caused the heads to warp. Then they could not admit that they made a mistake. And they tried to get our money and boot us out with more problems than the car had to begin with. A new engine + labor will cost over $4,000!

My wife took in our 1999 Saturn for a general inspection and oil change. Our brakes had been mildly squeaking (overall working fine) but she asked that they check them as well. Later that afternoon, we got a phone call where they informed us that both rear brakes are completely gone, that brake fluid is leaking everywhere and everything needs to be replaced to the tune of over $800. We couldn't really afford that so we told them not to fix anything, that we would just park the car and use our other car until we could afford to fix the brakes.
The sales rep puts us on hold, comes back, and says he can do the repairs for $600. We still said no. He comes back again with $400. By this time, red flags are going up. We told him to forget it, that we'll park the car. He asked if and when we do repair the brakes that we'll bring it back to them. We said yes. All is good.
We picked up the car the next morning. The brakes don't work at all, very spongy and need to be pressed to the floorboard in order to stop. Dangerous to drive but we live right around the block. Keep in mind that other than mildly squeaking the day before, they worked perfectly. I immediately think foul play.
We got the car towed to a nearby repair shop that received solid Yelp reviews. The owner looks at the brakes. No leaking fluid. Pads don't need to be replaced. Nothing. They're fine... except that there's a small spring/clip in each wheel's brake system (not sure what they're called) and both had been manually unclipped. He said there is no way for them to come unclipped without someone removing the rim and disassembling part of the brake system to get inside. This basically causes the brakes to work on the most minimal level and totally simulates brakes that are completely gone.
So we avoided spending $800 for a manufactured repair job we didn't need but spent $60 for the new repair shop to inspect them and hook the clips back in place. Brakes worked perfectly after that.
I just can't believe a supposedly reputable business like Firestone can get away with this. I know this isn't a rare occurrence. I'm sure this happens more often than not. Would this have happened had I, rather than my wife, brought the car in? Who knows. I had been using them for years. Who knows how many unnecessary repairs I've paid for. We nearly got boned for $800 in unneeded repairs!
I should have gone in to their business and raised holy hell, but I didn't. What's the point? We left them a bad review on as many review sites for local businesses as we could find. At least now consumers have a voice.

I took my 2002 Dodge RAM 1500 to the Firestone S Academy location here in Colorado Springs to have the pinion seal replaced. It cost $123.08. The service guy, Tim, wrote the ticket; assuring me this repair would not be a problem for them. So, they performed the repair. One week and 400 miles later, I noticed a very loud grinding noise coming from the rear end. At this point, I called Firestone explaining the situation. Jim (the store manager) said, ”Oh, bring it back. We have warranty for all our work. So, I paid for the tow.
Apparently, they were so busy; it took them two days of having my truck to finally tell me they over torqued the pinion nut after they replaced the seal, which ruined the crush sleeve in the rear end, but they don't repair rear ends at this location, and that's why they have insurance. The store manager told me to go ** myself on the phone, and hang up on me when I told him that it was not acceptable. I waited a week and a half before one of their claim adjusters contacted me. His name was Dave **. He said if I pay to have the truck towed to another shop, they would reimburse me (it wasn't livable at this point). So, I did that. He then said they needed to have a third party inspector go take a look at the damage, along with my mechanic.
So, another week passed the inspector came out, and stood there watching this mechanic take the entire rear differential apart and taking pictures the entire time. The inspector said its quite clear that Firestone over tightened the pinion bearing, causing the bearings and pinion gear to fail. So, keep in mind I'm calling the corporate office the entire time everyday; asking why my truck isn't fixed. All I ever got was voicemail after voicemail.
Finally, the claims adjuster called me and said they don't agree with the report. They wanted to send a second inspector out, but they agreed to pay for a rental car. I already lost my job because I couldn't get to work. Another week passed; finally, the second inspector showed up. His report said my rear differential looked brand new, and he saw no damage. So, the claim representative said they refuse to pay for anything. My fiancée and I paid 1,700.00 for the repair and rental car. I now filed a complaint to the Better Business Bureau (BBB); if it will not work, I'm taking it to court. They were extremely rude, and wouldn’t tell me the truth about anything.

I brought my 1998 Cadillac Deville to Firestone in Bridgeport, Connecticut for suspension work. The bill was $1,275.
4 months later, I brought the Cadillac Deville in again for what I was told was a total brake line replacement. The bill was $1,017.
40 days later, the Deville was leaking oil. I brought it in this morning and was told it's going to cost me another $600. I was told back in June that the brake lines were all set and everything looked good. I was told this morning that they saw the other side of the car’s brakes lines to be rusty but they didn't think it would need to be repaired.
Had I known I was going to need $1,600 in brake repair work, I would have gone somewhere else! Firestone likes to see their customers keep coming back for more repair work and more money. I would never ever use this shop again!

I called Firestone on Monday 07/25/2011 at 12:20 PM and made an appointment to bring my car in for a set (4) of tires (Bridgestone, Potenza) on Friday at 8:30 AM. Michael **, the store manager, completed the work order that morning (Friday, 07/29/2011) and advised that if there were any additional cost from the work order, which amounts to $1,001.28, he or someone would give us a call.
During the afternoon, my husband received a message from Firestone advising they could not find the lock key to remove the rims. When my husband received the message and returned the call to let them know it was in the glove box, they advised that they looked in the glove box and was not able to find the key but was able to remove the rims another way.
When my husband and I went to Firestone to pick up my car at approximately 5:15 PM, my husband noticed severe scratches and dents on all four rims. We expressed our concerns with Chris **, the service manager. After showing him the damage on the rims, he insisted there was no way their machine could have done the damage because the head on the machine is plastic and it looks like curb damage. My husband defended it was not curb damage because he cleans his cars himself and he would have noticed any damages.
Then my husband asked Chris, “How did you remove the rims without the key?” Chris again insisted the machine could not have caused the damage. Chris asked what he could do to make it better. Did we want more rims? My husband said yes because the rims weren't like this when we dropped the car off this morning and we would like it in writing. Chris advised he could not put it in writing and offered to replace one rim but could not replace all four. I questioned how he can replace one but not all four and he admitted it was possible one rim could have been damaged but not all four. I then concluded that if one rim could have been damaged, it is possible all four could have been damaged. He then said "Well what is it do you want, new tires?” I told him I wasn't asking for anything free. All I know is my car was not in this condition when I dropped it off. By this time a service technician had come from the back and was standing behind Chris commenting the damage is curb damage.
My husband went to the car, took pictures with his cell phone for proof of damage and told Chris to take the new tires they had put on my car off and give us back our old tires because what they were doing is not right. Chris asked for the keys back and said it would take about an hour and 1/2 and to give them until around 7:30 PM. He told us if we wanted to leave he would give us a call. We went into the service area to take additional pictures of my car because we were concerned about further damage. The service technician who came to the front desk a little earlier was standing beside my car with a smirk on his face and my husband asked what was he laughing at. The service technician started coming at my husband and told him they can take it outside.
Chris had to hold the technician back and kept insisting for him to calm down. We finally left the car with the intentions of receiving a call within 2 hours. Needless to say, no one from Firestone called us that evening to come back and pick up the car.
We called on Saturday morning (07/30/2011) and spoke with Michael. We explained the situation and our concerns. He stated that he had looked at the rims and agreed with Chris that it looked like curb damage. He explained that on Monday morning (08/01/2011), he would report this to the district office and set up a claim. An independent claim adjuster would come out, take a look at the damages and determine who is at fault. Michael suggested after that, if the adjuster determines it was the fault of Firestone, then they will replace our rims and if not, then that would be the end of it.
I called the district office on Monday morning and was advised that after the claim has been reported, it normally takes 24-36 hours for an independent adjuster to come out and assess the damage. I called the Infiniti dealer and questioned that if I lost my lock key to my rims and needed to replace my tires, how could I get my rims off. She told me it would not be possible to get them off, but they had a key and I could just bring it in. Also, I called another Firestone location and presented the same question. To take the rims off without the key would probably cause damage to the rims and he suggested I call the dealer and try to purchase another key. At this point I am waiting to hear from the adjuster.
Sincerely,Saleah **

Now, they don't know how to re-set the next oil change service display. Also now, my clock will not hold the time. Every time I start the car it shows blank. I brought my car in on July 25, 2011 for a tune-up. I received a quote from Elizabeth for the parts and labor.
I received a call from Patrick at 2 p.m. saying that my car repairs were completed but I did not receive any information on the phone regarding any price increase on the ignition wires. Patrick only discussed with me the need for my car to have the fuel filter replaced and a fuel tune-up was recommended as well. I agreed to have these repairs done.
When I arrived to pick up my car, Elizabeth spoke to me about how Firestone did not give me the correct quote on the ignition wires and the new wires cost more. But it wasn't communicated how the correct ignition wires were significantly higher in price (it was actually $71.63). Patrick did not communicate this information to me when I was originally contacted at 2 p.m.
I feel Elizabeth and Patrick have both acted dishonestly in this matter and have conspired to overcharge me on repairs. Also, order notes are typed on my sales receipt but there wasn't any communication to discuss with me about a throttle return spring missing from my car.

I took my car for an oil change. I have been going to Firestone for more than ten years so I never thought twice about it. I usually go to the Dade land mall and this time, I went to the Culter Ridge because it was closer to my home. I went there on July 7, 2011 and on the 11th, I heard a clicking sound coming from my car so I pulled over and checked the fluids. When I checked it, there was no oil in my car. I could not understand this because I had just got an oil change six days ago. They did say that I had an oil leak but they did not know where it was. I took it to a certified mechanic who gave it a diagnostic test.
I went back to Firestone and told them what happened. They said that there was a leak but not that it was leaking massive amounts of oil which I never saw. I asked them where the oil was which they put in my car six days ago but they could not explain. They towed the car back because driving it of course with no oil might damage it. This took all day, it started at 1:00pm and around 5:30 to 6:00pm, Ram, a man who worked for them, went to my car and lifted the hood. He looked at it then he got in my car and started it without putting oil in it. I know this because I was standing outside and smoking a cigarette. I saw him do this so when he got out, I said to him that I'm sure he's not suppose to start a car with no oil in it. He pushed the gas a few times. I counted three to four times and it sounded much worse now so he then put oil in my car and started it. At first, it did start but then stalled right away and he could not get it started again. At this point, it's almost closing time and I am very tired and this man, named Ram, was rude and he could not figure out why he couldn't start my car. He seemed to be rushed and aggravated so he now tells me that it's my battery. I said to him that there is nothing wrong with my battery. He waved me off as if I didn't know what I was talking about so I went inside and talked with Mr. ** and I told him that this man was being rude to me and that he started my car with no oil which I thought has caused damage to my car. All I needed was for him to put oil in the car and check to see if it was still clicking but now my car would not start. The manager said to leave the car overnight and they will see what the problem is.
In the morning, he could not get it started then the next day either so he rented me a car and told me that they would fix it. Next day comes, he calls and said that they got it started and it was the timing they fixed. He did not call to tell me this or to ask me if they could change the timing but they did it anyway so he said that I can pick up my car now. It starts but my engine is smoking and they told me that they don't do internal engine problems. I said that I don't have that problem, at first it was my battery then electrical and now internal. I felt something is so wrong here so I tried calling the district manager and I was bounced around from this person to another person. It seems to me that once I spoke with someone, they all of a sudden went on vacation. I then spoke with Ernie ** who helped me or so I thought with trying to get someone to fix my car. He said that my car was going into claims which I'm not sure what that means but I was hoping it meant they were going to fix my car. Dave, who was my claims officer, has gone away and I was sent to a Mr. Jim, who now tells me that there's nothing wrong with my car and that I would have to go and pick it up. I asked what if it's still smoking or making that noise then what are they going to do and he said that I would have to take it to my mechanic and get it on paper that what was wrong with the car was a direct result of something they did.
I felt like Firestone should be the one to do this and I felt intimidated by the managers who took the keys away from me at the rent-a-car. They seem to be only interested in getting the rent-a-car back so they didn't have to pay another day. I told them that the car is still smoking and the engine is still making noise but they said that there was nothing they can do and that I had to take it to a mechanic and get my car out. They insisted that I drove my car only a little while it's smoking and making noise and now I am having trouble with the steering which is now very hard to turn.
I have no car and no way to go to work or get home and I'm left with a car that Firestone damaged and doesn't want to repair. At this point, I think my car cannot be repaired. Please help me to get someone to listen to me so that I might be able to get my car replaced. It is my lifeline and to lose my car will leave me in a bad position. Thank you very much, hoping to hear from you as soon as possible.

I asked my son to check my car out cause I am disabled and didn't feel good and so he did. It was to full of oil. Well, I asked my daughter to call and talk to to them and tell them the problem. She did and they said if there was a problem, they would deal with it. I decided to check my oil myself just to make sure that was the problem.
I let the car sit over night and checked it. After the motor pushing it out, it was still over half a quart over. I sent my daughter to the shop cause my dad 84 was in the hospital. That was a mistake because they laughed at her and made fun of her and all but called me and my son stupid and said we didn't know how to check oil. Let me tell you something, My son worked as a mechanic before and I am 58 and been driving and checking oil since I was around 16 or 17 years old. The bottom line is that we never did them anything for them to do that to us. I know they think we are stupid but they took my car in the shop where my daughter couldn't see and must have taken some oil out cause all there is left is the damage it did and not the strong smell.

So I asked this guy at Firestone if they do suspension work and how much would it cost to lower my front by half an inch. He said $2000. I laughed and said $2000 to lower a car? He then said, $1,000 and started getting nervous. I only used them just to kill some time waiting on an order I had at another store down the street, because I only heard bad things about this place. I never would've even took it there for an alignment but I really just wanted to find out if they do suspension work and what the price would be just to get an idea what a tire dealer would charge for work like that. I live in New Jersey. My daughter's car (my car) broke down in Port St. Lucie, FL on March 6, 2011. AAA towed her car to Firestone All American Tire and Service. They told me the engine blew and I agreed to have them replace it (with a rebuilt). The store manager was nice enough at the time. I got a quote of $4,000 and gave a deposit. I signed the quote on 3/14/11.
As of May 16, I still didn't have the car. They were rude, and would not return my calls. If I did get the manager, he would tell me it's going to take as long as it takes. I called Firestone Corporate back in March and had a 3-way call with them. Firestone would not help me because they say the store is independent (just sell Firestone Tires). I was then told by my AAA representative that the shop was going to be closing their doors and they had to finish my car before that. Well, guess what? The shop closed and my car was locked inside for over a week. My AAA representative stopped by again and the owners (who never contacted me) told him that they got a company to come fix my car and that it was running well. I then had to pay the balance of $1,400 before they will release my car.
My daughter was stuck without her car for three months. When she got it back, we took it to another shop before she was allowed to drive it, just to find the engine had no VIN #, the wiring was not hooked up and they glued the radiator and the cruise control cable. The transmission cable had to be replaced as did the brackets under the car (holding the engine and transmission in). I still have all of the broken parts and the repair order from the new shop. My question is this, "Why would Firestone let anyone that they won't stand behind use their name?" Not only was it on their receipt, they have a large Firestone sign on their building. This is just awful and misleading. I cannot tell you how horrible this has been. I am out to send Firestone and this shop a message. Don't ever let them touch your car. 1888 SW Bayshore Blvd., Port St. Lucie, Florida - just in case they change their name - again.

I took vehicle in for 4 new tires. I was told I needed an alignment as well, which is fine. I should do one with purchase of new tires. They wouldn't tell me how bad it was, just that I needed it. When I drove the vehicle home I noticed my steering wheel wasn't center. It was off to the left and the vehicle kept pulling. I took it back the next day. Now the steering wheel was off to the right. I took it back again. They said they fixed it. I took it back again but it’s still pulling to the right. They said nothing was wrong with it.
Finally, I took it to my Chevy dealer and all along my alignment was off, both camber and toe. I drove it for a few more days and noticed a wobble when at low and high speed. I wasn't about to call Firestone, so I went back to my dealer today. Lo and behold, the balance they did on the tires was 8 ounces off. Now I have 2 repair bills to pay and the car is fixed. Not to mention that the tires in the back have 21 lbs. of road force. Not that it will bother the car, only that the tires (Firestone Affinity Touring), and not cheap tires either, have either a soft spot or a hard spot in them somewhere. This whole ordeal has cost me almost $1,000.00 and took 2 weeks to straighten out. They gave me $120.00 credit. For a full set of tires? I took my car to be fixed on May 22nd 2011, as it was making some noises. I informed the Fire Stone mechanic and left the car so that they can look at it (Ford Explorer). They later called and informed me that the problem is on the brakes; both front and rear needs to be replaced. I gave them go ahead and they charge me $453.69 including tax. I went to pick up the car and drive it and at a few distance, it started to make the noise again. I took back the car the next day. The manager said that they have to open and check. Later they called and said that it was something else which will cost me $1500.
I was shocked because yesterday they told me it was the break. I discuss with the manager, Mike, and he said that he will give me a discount so it will be $1400. I decided to shop around and most mechanics agree that it was a rip-off. One shop asked me to bring the car. I called back the manager and told him that I will come to pick up the car. The manager, Mike, said that they cannot put back the parts they open even the tires, so I will have to tow my car. He proceeded to say that they will also charge me $800. I called the head office and they promised that they will talk to Mike.
The next day, I went to tow my car and Mike was in the phone. My car was not ready to be picked and the tow guy I had called had to leave. Mike still insist that I let them fix the car for less charge, etc. I was calm but I keep thinking to myself how dishonest one can be and still looking in my eye and not even apologizing for such a hassle leave alone the blander.
To make the story short, I had to call another guy to tow the car. I pay for the towing. I asked the other mechanic to check if they really replaced the brakes. He said yes and they put cheap breaks that cost $60. I was shocked. Remember, I paid $453.69 for breaks. I felt used as I have been a loyal customer to that shop for years. I cannot believe they have done such things. I had to recall how I used to return my wife's car to be re-checked simply because mechanics failed to do their job at the first time. I never make a big deal then but now when I recall all those incidents, I feel angry and used.
I had to tow my car, of course pay for towing, pay for charges again, and loose half day at work. I do not know how a human being can do this to another human being. Of course, the store manager did not apologize. He keep insisting that they are willing to help me. He has offered nothing than a poor service to a long-time customer.
I will never recommend anyone to Firestone. I suggest consumers to shop around before committing to any shop.

Five hours later they finally got my car done. I asked could I get a discount for it taking five hours. The manager said that all he could do was give me 25 dollars off. I don't think that was fair cause I took off of work early to make the appointment. While waiting for the car, my wife missed her doctor's appointment. I thought it was learning from mistakes, metrics, growing a business. There are lots of competition out there but it seems people want to get paid for what they think they know instead of what they think they do.

On 4/2/2011, I just finished a 12-hour shift and went into their store. I was greeted by "Kathy" and I told her that I needed brakes on at least two wheels. She had me wait and after approximately 30 minutes, they put the car on a rack and removed the tires. I also was asked if I wanted tire rotation to which I said no as I have lifetime free where I bought the tires. We agreed to just do the front brakes as the rear are still good. Then, Jeremy wanted to show me the tires on the car. We looked and made no decision verbally as the tires still had a few thousand miles of good tread.
As I had just finished 12 hours plus four of work and I am 74 years old, I sat and waited. I was asked about alignment and said okay even though the car never ever pulled to either side and the tires were worn mostly in the middle as if the pressure was too high. Then, I was told that the car was ready after three hours and was told that the bill was $776.62 when all I came in for was front brakes! I was never shown any tires to choose from. I just found myself more than $700 in debt for what was supposed to be just front brakes!
I asked why did they put on four new tires that I did not want. The very high-pressure salesman (Jeremy) said that I had told him to replace them, which I had no memory of doing, and was not ever showed tires to pick from and which tread I would like. So now, I am stuck with this bill. I have a part time job and am just on Social Security to live on so you can see why I shed tears over this transaction. As you can bet your life, I will never ever enter this business for any reason and I will make sure that the treatment I received will be known to all my friends, relatives, etc.!

I had my 1993 Chevy Lumina taken to Firestone Service Center to find out why the car would not start. Firestone declared that it was a faulty fuel pump and the price to fix it was $522.00. I said I could not fix it so I had it towed away. I decided to see if this other shop could do it cheaper, the other shop pressure checked the fuel pump and found out that there was nothing wrong with my fuel pump. I paid them $74.23 for the diagnostics. The other shop called me in and showed me that my pump was pumping just fine and I still have the same old pump and driving the car, they lied. It pisses me off. Had I said okay, they would have replaced something not broken! They are liars. I made them refund my $74.23 back, ASAP. It is with real sorrow that I see myself forced to file a complaint against one of your employees. But I believe that in these times of economic hardship, prestigious companies like Firestone cannot afford flaws in the exceptional customer service that characterizes you, and even less when this contributes to the loss of a young professional that represents the type of customer that you want to assure for your future well-being.
My name is Yanko **. I am a physician, in the specialty of psychiatry and also a college professor. Everything started three weeks ago. I drove my Mercedes Benz to your establishment located in 2250 SW 87th Avenue, Miami, FL 33165 because the computer of the car told me to check on the break wears. I was referred to that place by my mother, who, until this moment, has been a steady customer of yours and was intending to use the Firestone credit card as a way of payment (credit card that she intends to cancel as soon as possible) as well as all relationship with the company.
Once there, I was helped by Nelson who gave me an initial good customer service, and after the previous check up, the mechanics arrived to the conclusion that the car needed new brake front, rear pads, rotors, sensors, and the total job was at a cost of $871--which was agreeable to me. The job was done and the payment was made without problems.
Since the car was given to me, I noticed a difference, which I logically adjudicated to the fact that the parts were new and needed some time for adjustment. The car has progressively been taking longer to stop when I hit the break pedal. Although it works, I definitely feel the car in worse shape than how it was when I turned in to your establishment. Today, I decided to take a time off my busy day to bring it there again to check and prevent something that might become a bigger problem and a live threatening situation to me.
When I arrived to the place here is what happened: Yanko: "Hello, Nelson. I am bringing you the car again because I am noticing that the brakes are taking longer to stop and I am afraid. However, if this car is not the specialty of these mechanics, I understand, but I will go somewhere else."
All this was said with respectful and appropriate manners. The reason why I said this is perfectly justifiable and was not with intentions to offend none of the mechanics. In my field as a physician, I know how bad it can be when I see a patient with a disease to which I am not related or an age or gender that I don't usually treat--it might get tricky. In this case, what I usually do is delegate the job to someone more related to the case. Westchester is a community middle class and Mercedes Benz are definitely not the biggest percentage of cars that Firestone branch attends, so it is understandable that as humans, a mistake could have been made.
Nelson's response: "First of all, you should have brought the car the following day, not now that you are scared because the brakes don't work. I am really negatively impressed with you! That what you are doing is totally incorrect! You should not put the name of our mechanics down just because you haven't taken the time to bring your car back!"
Mistake #1: I did not tell him that the brakes did not work; he is making assumptions and putting words in the customers mouth.Mistake # 2: He is not listening to the customer's problem.
Mistake #3: He is being judgmental. I am a customer with a real problem. I am an adult professional and I consider it a huge lack of respect to have one of your customer service representatives telling me that I am incorrect and that he was negatively impressed by me. I don't think you are paying him to do any of that. He treated me like I was his child and the real McCoy situation is that I am a customer that just spent $900 in services and is not happy!
Right after this, one of the mechanics took my car for a ride. When he came back, he told me, "I don't see anything wrong with the car. Do you want to jump out the windshield when you hit the brakes?" (This is understandable. The mechanic has not driven that car before so he can't compare with the way it was before. I don't really mind his comment).
This situation that happened to me and Mr. Nelson (whose last name I don't know because I was in such a state of shock that just left the place) goes against all sort of assertive communication that I am sure you strive for during training of your representatives. On the contrary, it proves to be reactive and aggressive communication. Of course, as you know, most of the angry customers--all they want is a sincere apology. Well, I accept the apology. However, this is a letter of feedback and encouragement for you to work on the communication skills and customer service of your representatives.

I was charged $20.35 for this. For the past 2 weeks I've also noticed my right front tire was low as well. I returned for a second time and was informed of the same problem. I was again charged $20.35 for this to be fixed. I had no problem with tires holding air before this installation. I was told it was my rims. Why was there no problems before? If there was a problem, why was it not seen as the installation was being performed!? Firestone, you do tires, right? I was not happy the first time I had to get one of my new tires to hold air. Imagine how unhappy I was the second time.
Today February 21, 2011, I stood at your counter after paying, and cut my Firestone credit card up in front of your manager and. other customers. I then informed him I would never be back and would be contacting his corporate office. His only reply was “okay”. What's really sad is the fact that he made no effort to even keep my business. I paid a total of $40.00, to keep air in the new tires. Your commission-paid manager is really pushing the limit! I'm a musician which means I'm on a microphone all night long. We went to Firestone in Bristol CT. and they told us that we needed a new radiator. They put one in and when we drove the car it made a funny noise. I called informing them I'd have to bring the car back and they said they would look at it. The guy told me the noise was a belt, I told him no. He then took a ride with me and then said it was the air conditioning compressor, which they could fix for another $500 (he didn't even look under the hood). Needles to say the car broke down then the engine has blown up that day.
They sent an investigator out and he said he couldn't find out why because there was oil and radiator fluid in the car. I think they didn't flush the radiator correctly and air got to the engine. They made us wait 2 months before even calling. Now they want us to pay for someone to tear the car apart and that would cost us more than it would be worth. Why do these companies get away with this? They broke our Doge van, we missed all of our kids' Christmas events at school and we couldn't go see our family on Christmas. I have a daughter with JRA and she missed a few Dr. appointments, this has caused an uproar in my home. This is not fair at all.

I say $800, then he mentioned for $1,000, "I will fix the struts and put 4 tires on your vehicle because we do make money off tires," were his exact words. I still had not enough money, he offered financing so I tried. I was declined, so my son tried and he was approved. We agreed to have the work completed.

When the vehicle was done, the tires were not the way we requested. After putting them the way we wanted, they said, “By the way, you have two nails in the old tires.” I asked if they would repair them. They said yes, if they were repairable.
I asked, “Wouldn't you know if they were not repairable?” We were told we could try to plug them ourselves. My brother (who was a certified mechanic) and I looked at the tires when we got home. At least one of them was repairable. They were clearly too lazy to do what was right. They should have followed our instructions, and informed us as, soon as they found the nails. By the time we left, it was already four hours.
We left the shop with two tires that had nails in them, and we had wasted four hours. With the level of incompetence from the people I dealt with, I am not sure what was done was done well! I took my car to Firestone letting them know that my car was slowing down by itself. It was stalling out when I turned anywhere. While the car was being repaired, they said that they would have someone drive me to work. I wouldn't get back in my car because it is dangerous to drive a car with the check engine light on. The service man mumbled something and walked away, leaving me in the cold. I had to walk to work. I spilled coffee on me because I was struggling with my purse and lunch pale. So, I was soaked with coffee walking to work. I had to walk across the dangerous road and about four blocks after that. I was crying and freezing when I got to work.
They put new coils in the car. The check engine light was on and I was told that it was the catalytic converter. They charged me for a new catalytic converter and more fuel coils. My car was doing okay. About two weeks later, I was driving home one night from work and the car started driving itself at a high rate of speed. I pulled off the nearest exit and turned the car off. I started the car again and it was racing. The engine was loud. I managed to drive it off the highway and into a parking lot. I was parked and I let the car settle. When I started the car up again, all the gauges went completely over to the red areas. I immediately turned the car off.
I took it back to Firestone and they said that the problem was the cables. They said that they put a throttle cable in at no charge, but the car is still racing and loud. Apparently, they didn't fix the problem. Firestone had my car for one week and it still drives itself like I have cruise control with, which I do not have on my car.
Also, Haig said that they would pick me up at my work at 3:00 PM. When I was off my shift, they were not there to pick me up. I was so upset and furious. I had to walk over to the mall and wait for an hour until they decided to pick me up so that I could get my car back. When I did get my car back, the gas tank was nearly empty. When I took my car in to Firestone, it had a full tank of gas. I am furious on how I was treated and with their lack of professionalism. The work receipt says "in at 12:37pm, promised at 2:30pm." I waited there for four hours. They told me that one of my lug nuts was stuck and they had to break it off. I have known for years about the deceptive, downright lying tactics of Firestone dealerships. Many old stories to tell but last month, I had a rear tire on a 2001 Tahoe that seemed to have a slow leak and had been requiring air about once a week for a few months. I had a nail in that same tire a year ago and had it plugged at a small family owned Exxon where they still have a 3 bay repair shop. I started to just go back there, but was close to Firestone and figured even they could/should be able to handle something as simple and straightforward as my slow leaking tire. I was wrong.
After agreeing to pay $24.95 for the repair, which was double with what everyone else charges, I settled in for about an hour before the man at the desk said those dreaded words: Mr. **, can I speak to you for a minute? He informed me that the leak was from an old plug that they refused to replace because their liability would be so high if something were to happen in the future. And it will. He said, no way that plug can be replaced a second time. He had already prepared me an estimate for four top grade new tires, install, balance, all the extra warranties and all for $1,000 and highly suggested that I let them proceed. I told him to put that tire back on fast and give me my keys. I had to sign a waiver though, since my life would be in grave danger.
I drove to the Exxon station where the previous plug had been done a year ago. They apologized, jumped right on it, fixed it without even removing the tire from the vehicle. I told them what Firestone had said and he made me this promise and wrote it on a receipt that by the way, listed zero for cost. If the tire fails because of that plug or that exact plug fails again for one year, we will replace it free with your choice of five tires of the same size. He also noted that he had repaired/replaced needed parts on vehicles for years where people had Firestone receipts for those items being replaced recently. I was in and out of the Exxon in less than fifteen minutes after it took Firestone an hour to figure the best way to screw me.
If my vehicle broke down in front a Firestone store, I would have it towed somewhere else. Be warned, they're are trained and determined to take as much of your money as possible and lie like the devil if caught. 1,000 miles on that tire since the no-cost plug repair by a reputable and apologetic Exxon station owner.

On two occasions in the last two months (11/17/10 and 12/20/10), I brought my car, a 2002 Mazda 626 with 83,000 miles, to you with concerns about a loud humming noise emanating from the front wheel or wheels.
On the first occasion, I was told that the source of the noise was cupped tires. The recommendation was to replace the tires, which at that time had about 30,000 miles of wear. Since they had a 50,000 warranty, I was assured that the price for new tires would be prorated for the remaining 20,000 miles of warranty. I was surprised that cupping could cause the loud humming noise and asked for and received assurance that it was not a bad wheel bearing.
One month later, I returned because the humming noise had become much worse and I was questioning whether it could really be coming from cupping of the tires. At that time, I specifically requested assurance that the increasingly loud humming noise was not a bad wheel bearing. When I picked the car up 24 hours later, I was informed that a complete inspection of the vehicle had been done, and works of $1473.34, including parts, labor, supplies, and tax was recommended, specifically: 1. New radiator hoses, 2. Radiator flush and new antifreeze, 3. New front and rear struts, and 4. Four new tires.
At this point, I told the service manager that I would need to get a second opinion [A specific red flag for me was that the radiator had been flushed and antifreeze replaced about 500 miles prior to this time, at a different shop]. The manager I spoke with began to backpedal, suggesting that replacing the tires and keeping the old struts might be good enough to solve the problem.
The following day, I took the car to the Mazda dealer for a complete service inspection. The first thing they did was drive it and determine that the humming noise was a bad bearing on the front right wheel. Then, they elevated the car and showed me that there was no problem with any of the struts. They inspected the radiator hoses and found no significant wear or need for replacement. They showed me the cupping on the tires and recommended I have the tires rotated under the Firestone warranty, so that they would be riding in the reverse direction. They suggested the tires were otherwise in good condition and would likely last another 20,000 miles.
Two days later, I had Mazda Service replace the wheel bearing. The noise is now completely gone. Nothing in the way the car drives or performs gives evidence of cupping of the tires or faulty struts.
I am writing to you to express my outrage at your recommendations. They are either the result of gross incompetence or an outright attempt to defraud. Either case is unacceptable. Had I taken your advice, I would have paid $1473 for unnecessary repairs and been left with the original problem. Shame on you!

Being a retired mechanic and now I cannot do my own work, I depend on the people I trust, anyway, I took my F150 to a shop in Jensen Beach to have break work and any problems on the front end, and they checked everything and replaced what ever was needed, they advised me to get an alignment, as they do not do alignments.
The next day, I took it to your store and they told me that I would have to have this work done as the $79.99 alignment would not do any good unless I had this other done first. Ball Joints, both $541,96, both lower, front, ball joints, 2 for $19.00, cam and bolt kit, 2 for $39.99 each. 9/27/10 I brought in my car to have it looked at after some disturbing sounds were prevalent while driving. I got a phone call saying the front shocks were bad and I needed an alignment. I spoke with Roger a manager at the store in Hutto, TX. He gave me a quote for $280, so I made and appointment the very next day. Of course Roger wasn't in. So the tech pulled my car around and showed me the total of $900! I was furious I had been given a quote that was so far from the total given that day. I complained and asked for Roger, but apparently they can't even call Managers on their day off. Needless to say they gave me a small discount and I got the work done. A month later I hear the same sound, so I bring it back. It took well over 2 weeks to actually get an appointment because they couldn't fit me in. Here is where it all gets very questionable about firestones ethics.
Little did firestone know that on Sept 15th I had my mechanic in DFW do a tune up, my brake pads changed, the belts, everything but the shocks & alignments. So now Mark calls to tell me that the real issue is the back shocks and because those weren't changed when the front ones were that it has now caused the mount to fold and need to be replaced. His exact words were he would have never changed the front shocks without changing the back. It was a waste of money!
My question was why did no one tell me this in Sept when they fixed the front? Then start the excuses that the staff that did the front no longer works there, he doesn't know, I must have misunderstood. That it’s of course not firestones fault at all. Then he proceeds to tell me that my brake pads are 90% worn, and I need new belts because they are all frayed. I was furious and said I would be up there in 5 minutes to get my car and have him explain this to my husband.
Like I said little did this idiot know that I had just replaced the pads and belt. I told him I would bring him receipts for the work on the breaks, and he was completely full of crap. So my husband and I arrive 7 minutes from hanging up the phone. Guess what? Mark has left for the day! Of course. Probably needed sometime to figure out how he was going to crawl out of his whole if lies now.
I was already on the phone with corporate as the put my car back together. Now an employee has come out to tell my husband not to call corporate, that Mark is a stand up guy who will make it right. So now employees are begging for forgiveness? Mark offered me 1/2 off the labor for the mount. I assured him that firestone would be paying for parts & labor for the mount, since it was their fault it got ruined in the first place. After countless hours will corporate I spoke with Kathy **.
Just as useless as the rest of them. She was extremely frustrated that her offering to pay for the mount wasn't good enough. I assured her that if she was frustrated she could only imagine how we felt. I told up that I didn't trust her company working on my car. The latest repair list I got said the front & back struts were shot, needed a mount, the brake pads, a engine flush, a and belts. Clearly the front struts were done the month prior, so if the tech saw they were bad, that means they weren't done right in the first place.
Kathy kept asking what I wanted. I want someone to be held accountable. I want firestone to admit that they lied to a customer about false repairs. That they tried to take advantage of me and the situation. That their techs really messed up the first time and not got caught in more lies the 2nd time. She was shocked I didn't want her company to work on my car. I am now seeking my money back and asking that they pay a reputable mechanic to do the work. I am not giving up.
I will do whatever I can to get to the CEO and explain this terrible issues going on at the stores. This is a lie, and highly illegal at that. People go to firestone to get an honest opinion on their vehicle and honestly get it repaired. I have spent $500 only to find out the job wasn't done right. I have to wonder did they do this intentionally to make more $ off me in the long run? Sadly I believe it’s true. This company should be shut down. Off to the BBB now, thanks firestone, you will be making my house payment now too!

I had a coupon to get the annual safety and emissions done for my wife's 2000 Chrysler Grand Voyager at the Firestone Complete Auto Care in Sandy, Utah. I was hesitant. I usually use a place that only does inspections and emissions, figuring that a shop that does repairs will look for anything they can to make more money. So it wasn't a huge shock that the van failed. They said that it had a bad tie rod ends and advised that I also replace the stabilizer bar links. The shock was the estimate, over $650.00!
I laughed at the guy and told him he just lost my business. I bought the parts and installed them myself, the parts totaled less than $80.00 and it took me three hours to do it in my garage with hand tools. I then took it to an alignment shop and had it aligned for $37.00 including taxes. I also replaced the stabilizer bar bushings in that amount of time. The parts were about another $13.00 and were not included in the estimate even though they were in far worse shape than the links.
I shudder to think what the surprise add-on cost for that would have been, had I been dumb enough to have them actually do the work. Over all, I spent about $120.00 plus three hours of my time and saved myself well over $500.00. A mechanic with all the air tools and lifts a shop has to offer could easily have gotten this done in under two hours. Apparently, Firestone has an effective rate of more than $250.00 per hour! Their parts markup is incredible. They quoted me $89.95 each for tie rod ends that cost me $14.99. That is a 600% markup. I called several shops around me, most were about half to two thirds of the price Firestone gave me. Even the Chrysler dealer was over $100.00 less! They ordered another one, said it was the right one, and replaced it which turned out to be a wrong one too. An employee showed me that the axle had a play in the transmission so I should take it to a transmission place they recommended to get it checked, and called AMCO Transmissions. I took it to AMCO, but they claimed that it was the right axle and they could see a problem and needed to take my whole transmission apart to find out what's wrong. I said no and took it to the Mazda dealership and they said that was a wrong axle in there and that was the reason for the play causing wearing down of the bearing in the transmission.

I took my 2002 Hyundai Elantra to the Firestone Auto Center # 019828 in Goodlettsville, TN on October 17th. I was very disappointed with the service I didn't get. I took my car in because I needed a new connector for my negative battery cable. On Saturday, I wasn't able to start my car and had emergency road service come to jump start my car. It didn't need a jump start.
The mechanic who came out showed me where the connector was cracked and wasn't making a good connection. He squeezed it together so I could start my car and get it to a repair shop. The following morning, I took it to the Firestone in Goodlettsville. I said that I needed a new connector on the negative cable, and while I had it in the shop, I wanted my tires rotated (I purchased my tires there at the end of 2009) and an oil change.
When I signed the work order, I will admit that I should have read it. On the work order, it said to check the positive cable and do an oil change with no mention of tire rotation. When I picked up the car that afternoon, I was told that there was nothing wrong with the positive battery cable. I said that it was the negative one that needed replacement. He said that both were checked and everything was okay. I told him I saw the crack.
He proceeded to try to make me look like an idiot by saying that they weren't going to do work that wasn't necessary. The next day, I took my car to a different mechanic who discovered sure enough that there was a crack in the connector of the negative battery cable. If the Goodslettsville Firestones mechanics are not capable of doing such a simple repair, just say so, but to lie about it and try to make me sound like an idiot really angers me. It is not how I expect to be treated.
Last year, when I took my car in for tires, I asked them to check the squeal that my power steering was making. I was told that the only way to get rid of the squeal was to get a new power steering pump. I again went to a different mechanic who put on a new belt and I have not had any squealing issues since.

My husband and I went to Firestone in Palomba Drive, Enfield, CT 06082. We arrived at 11:15 am for an alignment. During the morning and afternoon, I was told alignment was done, and I had to keep bringing it back. At the 4th attempt, the general manager, Scott, explained that the upper right side had no adjustment for the alignment. To my surprise my vehicle had never been in an accident like he suggested. I have worked in dealerships over 17 years and know exactly what goes on with the upsell of service, but to defraud a customer is illegal.
I asked Scott to refund my monies, and in a very rude manner he said, “No refund, and if you want, I can just pull the car out and do nothing.” I told him to do the best he could because I am going to complain to the DMV Department and the state attorney general. Around 6 pm, I called the Enfield Police Department to do a report, because after we left there for the 4th time, there was a clank every time I accelerated. The technician told me that it was a bolt that was left undone in the alignment process (by the way the car continues to pull to the left now), it is not aligned.
As the technician drove the car in for the 5th time, we see it dripping out of the car. He attempted to say that the brake like just went and they had nothing to do with this, but out of the kindness of their hearts, they would redo the brake like for half price. I had to get a ride home from the officer that gave my husband a ride home. I will have the police report, so this is how it happened: (1) About a month ago my husband went to Firestone and he was told that the front end alignment could not be done because he needed ball joint on one tire and they could do this job for $500.00. (2) I brought the car in for alignment at 11:15. (3) I again brought the car back to the technician; the car is pulling to the right. (4) I brought the car a third time, car is pulling to the right.
Then the general manager, Scott, comes out and explained that the alignment cannot be done because the right side of the vehicle is missing the part to adjust for the alignment. Thus, I asked for my monies back. He arrogantly stated, “I don't have to do nothing,” and he could pull the car out. Seeing his anger, I asked in a very nice manner for them to do their best. When the alignment was done for the fourth time, he told me that they found the part, that it was under so much rust, and he promised me a copy of the final alignment and according to Scott, it was perfect and he was gonna give me a copy of the print out. He had the copy of the print out under the keyboard. I asked him for it and he stated that I did not need it. Now it was around 3:15 PM.
We went to the bank which took us about an hour. When we finished in the bank, we get into the car and all of a sudden there is a clank every time we accelerate so I called Firestone again and the person that answered the phone asked me if I wanted to bring it in right away or tomorrow, and I said, “No, right now.” As the technician gets in the car, he hears the clank and he agrees that the clank was not there before. He told us that he had left a nut loose and that had nothing to do with the brake line. The guy behind the counter told me in front of the police officer that the clank is from the brake line and I told him that the technician has a different story. The technician drove the car all 4 times.
The vehicle was brought back for the alignment, but now the brake fluid is all over the place, and just because they reduced the price of fixing the brake like in half. The police officer gave us a ride home and saw that out driveway does not have a drop of oil. The police officer told me that if I drive a vehicle knowing that it is not safe that any person could be arrested so I had no choice but to leave it to get fixed. It will be ready tomorrow.
This letter along with the pictures of the leaks and the clean driveway and the police report will be used for the DMV and the State Attorney Blumenthal complaint we will be filing. I want a full refund of the bad alignment and the $322 you guys want for fixing what you broke. I could have gone to any other place, but I use to trust Firestone.

On October 6, 2010, I went to Firestone on Crain Highway for an oil change and to have the car's alignment checked. While paying for the requested work, Aubrey manager/service advisor) asked if I felt the car rock when I started the engine. I did not respond; I just looked at him. He proceeded to tell me that the car's engine mounts were bad and needed to be replaced immediately because it caused serious damages to other parts of my car. I still did not respond, but completed my payment transaction.
He then went on to inform me that he was including an estimate in the folder and the estimate was good for 30 days. I took the folder that contained the completed work receipt and the estimate and walked out the door. When I immediately called my mechanic of nine years (car has been running great all this time) and explained what had just happened, he told me to bring the car to him, which I did the next day. And just as I/we thought, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the car's other mounts. It was a scam!
Although I was not scammed into getting the $584.39 estimated work done, I just want to let someone know what is going on. This is second incident, but with the Firestone located on Andrew's Air Force Base, Maryland.

Had an oil change on 3/6/2010 and the mechanic hyper tightened the oil plug and filter. This is in violation of specifications on standard oil changes. This hyper tightening of the oil plug and filter resulted in additional repair costs on the next oil change with a stripped oil plug and a jammed oil filter requiring special tools and extra labor to remove and replace.

I went to this Firestone location on 09/08/10 to get them to look at my car. It had a terrible vibration on the front-end. I spoke with Chuck about the problem. He said he couldn’t take any more customers, they were backed up. He did say it was probably a tire that was causing the problem and not the front end. He didn’t even try to look at the tire! He told me to come back in the morning. I drove to the competitor (Sears) Auto Service Department. The customer technician immediately came to the car after I told him what the car was doing. He showed me the Firestone tire that had knots and bumps in it. He also said that that is what caused the car to drive the way it was driving.
I took the car back on 09/09/10 and talked to Chip ** about 4 pm. He couldn’t service the car, same problem as Wednesday, they were too busy. He assured me he could service the car on Friday. I asked if he was sure and asked for his card. On 09/10/10, I went back to Firestone about the same time, talked to Chip, he said we can do your oil change today. I do not need an oil change; I need someone to fix my tire. I asked if it could be prorated, he said the tire was too worn, and I told him that I had already explained it to Chuck to no avail. They didn’t have a tire similar to my tire in the store. He could not get it until Saturday. He also stated that an alignment would have probably helped the wear of the tire. I went in on 08/06/10 to get an alignment and the same scenario, no help, cannot do it. I went to Sears and purchased a tire that day. (I purchased a lifetime alignment from Firestone.)
On my way home from Firestone on 09/10/10, I had an accident. I drove over a speed bump. It was only 3 miles from the store, and had a blow out, the car went out of control jumped the curve, and I ran over a brick mailbox, and my car was totaled by my insurance company State Farm. Nevertheless, I will not be coming back to Firestone for any service, and I am requesting at this time, a full refund for the lifetime alignment I paid for and have never used because I couldn’t get serviced by this store. I have been a Firestone customer for 20 years, and I am very disappointed and upset about the kind of customer service I have received in the past 6 months. I had to go to Walmart in August to get an oil change because they were too busy that day also. I have been in retail for more than 36 years and I know that customers’ needs has to be a priority, or you will not be able to operate the business and be profitable. I am a very concerned ex- Firestone customer!

I received a $10.00 coupon in the mail for an oil change. I called them and told them what kind of car I had, a 6 cyl Lexus. He told me to bring it in no problem. When I got there, he put in the computer all info, my name etc. And he told me it would be $45.00 instead of the $19.95 quoted, $29.95 less the $10.00 coupon. The reason was he had to get a special filter. The only reason I went there was my Lexus has Bridgestone tires on it. And I wanted to meet the store manager because someday I would need new tires. But now I will never go to Firestone!

A few months ago, I went to Firestone to have a water leak in my engine repaired. They claimed to have done a pressure test but didn't find the problem. I kept having to put water in the radiator and the problem got worse. I took it back and was told it was the head gasket but they couldn't fix it and I should go to a Firestone a few towns over. I wasn't sure the car would make it, so I went to the local dealership instead.
It cost me about $6000 to redo the whole engine. It took nearly two weeks to get all the parts. In the meantime, I had to rent a car. I had to put these expenses on a credit card which will take a year or more to pay off, especially with the high interest. I filed a claim with Firestone but was denied, so now I have to pay back my high-interest credit card, which should take over a year. I would advise anyone considering using Firestone to think twice and read all the complaints against them first.

In that store, employees are not honest because they charged me too much money for a broken air conditioning (a/c) and my a/c is not working. I want all my money refunded. They should be able to tell what is wrong with my a/c when they charged me 39.99 dollars. The next time I went to fix, they still charged me for a/c check and another fee was added.
If they did their job the right way, I don't have to pay a second time fee for a/c check service when they checked my a/c for the first time. I am not this much upset plus my a/c is not working. I want my money back full refund.
