Bought my 05 Pacifica, used with high miles, for a good price before I read any of the many horror stories that I've read about now because I really liked the body and family members that have the same car - love it. But nonetheless I bought it and put quite a few more miles on it as mine has 240000 miles on it and I'm now needing front struts and motor mounts and a timing belt and I'll fix these things. And hopefully put another 100000 on her cause it looks and drives great with plenty of room. Our whole family loves it. One thing I don't understand is the short few years they made these and with all the bad reviews, I sure see them EVERYWHERE and I literally mean at least 1 every 2 miles I drive and I live in Michigan. But overall great car (maybe I got one made on a Wednesday instead of the famous drunk Friday or hangover Monday). LOL. Hope this helps someone out there.

This crossover has been great for my family of four and easy for my wife to handle. Great alternative to a van. No problems on the road, and a comfort for long trips. I believe that the 2006 model was still manufactured with Daimler, that may contribute to its success. But with any vehicle, if you take care of it, it will take care of you!

I bought a 2007 Pacifica 5 years ago. Had 30,000 miles on it when I bought it and now have 200,000 miles on it. I commute an hour to work everyday and so far the only problem I have had with mine is I just had to put new bearings on it. But other than that have had no issues or problems whatsoever. Has been a great car. I can fit 6 in it comfortably and get 24 miles per gallon. Best car I have ever had!

Bought 2007 base model Pacifica used, 70K miles. Piece of crap. Took it on a road trip and was stranded 50 miles from destination. Just shifted itself from 4th on highway to 1st, then stalled completely later in 1st while limping along. No indicators, codes read misfire. Got a mini-tune up-- spark plugs, wires, replaced an injector. Mechanic told me the motor mounts are shot and some kind of leak in evap. Ran better after that and got me home with the check engine light on the whole way.
Then, started stalling--60mph, 20mph-- no matter, one ding, no lights, no codes. Weird. Like another poster here. I stopped driving it. Put it in GM dealer (who sold it to me) shop for repairs. They held it for 2 months. Got it to fail 3 times then gave it back unfixed. Another story there! It seems to stall in wet weather, but not completely, like it's missing linkage clips and can't quite shift gears--just stops-- Then gets its second wind and goes forward again. Then, it stopped. Service Immobilizer. What a scam that is! Wish I could disconnect it. Just had it towed for the 4th time since March. Run Away if offered a Pacifica!

2007 Pacifica w/ 78K miles won't start - I purchased a lifetime bumper to bumper warranty when I purchased this auto. In 2012 the car began not starting. No clicking, not cranking. My wife discovered that if we waited until all the dash lights quit clicking & stabilized, it usually started. When the car would get to the dealer, it would start. It only refused to crank intermittently. Then this year (2015) the car wouldn't start even after 15 tries. We have had Chrysler on board with this problem since the beginning in 2012. When it wouldn't start we had Chrysler on the cell & the rep heard the problem.
We have had problems with Chrysler paying the tow because the car starts after the shop arrival, even tho the rep said it would pay. I told them about the ground wires & both ground wires were corroded, one was gone. The tow truck guy said the problem was the computer but the dlr cannot change the computer if the car starts when they try it. Now they will keep the car forever until it won't start for them. I am out a car I cannot in good faith sell to anyone or even trade in. I may change the computer myself. I have to have someone with me when I go to town so someone will stay with the car while it is running so we can get home.

I have an 06 Pacifica. I bought it last year with 100K. I bought it in July. It was unable to pass a state inspection until November. Seriously. As I left the dealership when I bought it, it dropped "oil" and "check engine" lights. Seriously. The oil light was due to the oil pump being faulty. The check engine light was an EVAP code, which is apparently pretty vague on these. The dealership had the car nearly constantly for four months. July to November, I drove their loaners way more than my own car. In the end, the dealership tried replacing every part in the system in the order of cost... but I needed TWO new fuel pumps (the car has two) to get the light to go away. Talk about losing your shirt on a sale.
Earlier this month, I got another "check engine" light. My mechanic said it was an EGR valve code, but unfortunately, details of it were obscured since it's a Chrysler-specific code he doesn't have access to. He replaced the valve itself hoping that was the answer. It was. Unfortunately, he also told me a mechanic friend of his came in and assumed the Pacifica was there for electrical issues. It was not, but now I'm nervous. My mechanic finally said, "Even Dodge and Chrysler nuts HATE the Pacifica. It's hard to fix. The parts don't align with other models. You could get a great one, or you could get a terrible one. It's a dice toss." My cousin, though, has a 2004 Pacifica with over 200K miles on it. She's more than pleased with it. It has given her NO problems.

I am still a kid but my memory is not sharp so bear with me. When I was 4 we lived in the Jacksonville area of Florida. We were not completely straight where money went. One day my mom came home from work in a shiny new 2005 Pacifica Touring. It was nice and quiet, had heated seats and black leather seats with three rows and wood trim. It had luxury all over it. When the problems started we were driving to Atlanta because my mom had a business trip. We were on a dirt road and my mom hit a big rock. She kept on driving thinking nothing of it. Then when we turned on another dirt road the car just started steaming up and just stopped working. My mom kept pressing on a gas pedal but the car was just dead. So since it was all electric the brakes weren't working either so she just slowly pulled off the road into a ditch. We all just got out of the car and waited for a tow truck.
Of course since me and my sister were fairly young we were calling our cars name telling her not to die on us. When we got the car to the shop they said it was the transmission which costed around 3,000 dollars. At that time we didn't have the money. Luckily one of my mom's friends was able to help her out. After we got the transmission we were driving to Keystone Heights, Florida to surprise our Grandpa on his birthday. Then on the passenger side of the car there was a loud screeching noise. When my mom pulled over it smelled like burning rubber and my mom said it was the belt and we just had to replace that.
So we just kept on trucking when if course the car died and she had to get it checked again. This time they said she had just replaced the transmission so that couldn't be it. When they told my mom it was the engine she paid off the car and traded it in for a brand new 2014 Ford Explorer XLT which has been working well for a long time now and has the capacity to carry you hauls up and down mountains.

I bought my 2007 Pacifica in February this year. Within 30 days my engine light started going off and on. Took it to auto parts. Sensor code said o2 sensor gone. Light would keep going off and on. Making hard right turns hear a loud noise in right front tire compartment. Someone said "could just be a piece of plastic." Noticed last week running just a little rough. Last night while driving to work something happened and I noticed it whining. I pulled over and put into park. When all traffic stopped I put into gear and started driving. At about 30 mph whining again and would not shift. Made it to work.
Husband picked up and took to local transmission shop $2700-$3000. They put on their "computer" and told him whole transmission gone. One of mechanics even laughing at him!!! I have only made one payment! $3000 is half of what I paid! Nice looking car, clean, no rust, no dents, 92,000. Also noticed in beginning, that engine was blowing white "steam" from engine. Wouldn't happen all the time. Manual said that this could happen with excessive moisture. Ok winter, let it go. Kept eye on temp gauge. Go thru carwash BLOWS white smoke. I don't know what to do. I can't afford to fix it. Don't want to pay for a car that doesn't run and dealer said too far out of warranty.

I brought a 2005 Pacific, it's been almost three years... from the first day I brought this car I have had nothing but trouble with it. First thing that happen was the night I brought the car home was fine, the next day I wake up and my car door wouldn't open, so I took the car back to the dealer. It took them two days to fix it, and since then I put a new motor, transmission, new tires, timing belt, water pump, oil changes, tune ups, muffler... I spend over 18,000.00 fixing it. And now my car check engine light started to blink tonight and along with that I smell burned rubber. Can someone tell me what's wrong with it? This car is my only way back to work, and to treatment appointments.

My car is a 2004 Pacifica and I have had it since 2009. My parents gave it to me with 100,000 miles on it maybe. I do a lot of driving and it's an AWD so this is my second time replacing all four tires. Presently, I have been having a problem with the gas tank not taking a full tank at once. This started off as taking gas slow and not registering how much gas is in the tank. Now it usually only takes like 14 gallons at a time. It depends on the weather. I have had some minor electrical problems. Even after having these problems I would say the money paid for it was well worth it. Male foreigners always stop me at the gas pump and ask about my car. They all want to know, "what year is it," when I respond, "an 04," they respond, "you know who made it, the Germans, that's the only one. "
It's not as dependable as before but I hate to see it go. It still rides smooth. I am weighing a car note and insurance versus replacing parts. I live in Michigan and know a shop that is an expert on Chrysler vehicles. I have been looking at VW's because of the German engineering. My next choice is Subaru then the Jeep. But I really don't want a car note and after riding in luxury I don't want to downgrade.

I see a lot of negatives on the Pacifica and I'm sure they are right, but have to give you my story. I have a 2004 Pacifica getting ready to turn 180,000 miles this week. I love this car!!! For many reasons but most of all it saved my life. I'm hard on cars, gas and brake person so that in itself takes a good car. This past yr I was in a bad accident, my fault, it was pouring very very hard and didn't see a stopped gray Volvo in front of me on the road. I hit her doing 55 mph. I came out untouched except for mark from airbag under steering. All my airbags deployed but only half as car had sensor to know whether I needed full impact or half, my face thanks that!!! My headlights didn't even brake. Barely any damage. I was so proud of my car. I still drive her everyday.
The one thing I would say is don't have a Pacifica without full coverage as I didn't and airbags alone are 5,000. Now I have had no problems at all. Starts everyday, runs quiet. Love the car. Now my engine cradle is rusted and has to be replaced. Trying to find new one as I really don't want to part with this car. I am worried about buying another Pacifica as I do see so many complaints. Even though I have been so lucky. Not sure second time around I will be. Oh also hit two deer and never even a scratch!!!! I have been wondering do only people with problems complain... as I see every car or SUV I like has lists of complaints but not many positives. I am hoping to get many more yrs out of the old girl before I have to get another one.

I am an owner of a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica. The Car has only 50,500 miles on it. And it's been meticulously taken care of. Beautiful on the interior and exterior. BUT..... I had issues with the Power Steering at 36,000 miles and had to replace the pump @ $1500.00 cost to me. Yep not warranted! Recently I took it in for an oil change and upon inspection the service adviser notified me of an issue of rusting on The Sub frame (Engine Carriage). I was notified that there are several holes rusted through and that it is a serious safety hazard. It could cause the engine to literally fall out, collision, and possibly bodily harm or death. The service adviser notified me that this is a very common issue with the Chrysler Pacifica. I decided to do an investigation and verified over the internet that there have been multiple complaints to Chrysler concerning this issue.
Only after people complained to Chrysler did they offer any assistance in repairs and then only after Media got involved. I called Chrysler and they more or less stated, "We are sorry for your issues but your vehicle is out of warranty." Now I can understand warranty issues but this is a known issue for these models. And after talking to Chrysler they acted as if there were no issues what so ever.
I feel this warrants an investigation as to why these units have not been recalled, and everything I am reading certainly points to Chrysler knowing they have safety issues and are ignoring them until they are more or less forced to respond to do the right thing and pay for the repairs. I have contacted Safercar.gov and the Media to see if I can get any assistance for the estimated $3500.00 repair cost. Needless to say if Chrysler wants any more of my business, (I have owned 2 Intrepids and a LeBaron - all of which had issues) they had better come to plate and do what's right for their customers' safety. If they don't, hopefully enough people, including myself needs to make enough noise for them to get these issues taken care of.

My husband and I were looking for a safe, reliable vehicle to be able to travel and see our son and his family who is in the army. We found this 2004 Chrysler Pacifica at a used car dealership in Cadillac Michigan. After taking it for a test drive we told them it had a vibration in the front and the check engine light was on. They said they would check it over and call us. Upon returning home I googled 2004 Crysler Pacifica problems. The first thing that showed up was the engine cradle rot. Being aware of the problem, when the dealer called us to let us know he had the check engine problem fixed and the vibration was gone, we asked him about having it checked for the engine cradle rot that we had learned about. He said that wasn't a problem because he was taking it in to get the oil changed for us anyways and he would call when he got back from checking it all out.
About an hour later he called, said everything looked great. No rot, all good, so we bought the car. BIG MISTAKE! Shortly after getting it, the problems began, within 500 miles it blew the egr valve and back manifold gasket. While we have it to the Chrysler dealers to be fixed for them issues, we asked for them to inspect the car and make sure everything was ok. "Yup... looks good. No problems... safe for the road." YEAH RIGHT! My husband went to change the oil himself the other day. Mind you we have only put not even 6000 miles on this car total since buying it. And just under 2600 since the dealer themselves had it in there and said it was all good and safe.
When my husband climbed under it to change the oil, THE WHOLE ENGINE CRADLE IS FULL OF ROT, HOLES, and CRACKS! This vehicle is not safe to be on the road and the dealership says it's safe! Apparently people's lives mean nothing anymore! And of course Chrysler won't fix it even though they KNOW it's a problem! Not to mention the electrical issues of the seats not working sometimes and the heater having a mind of its own. Sad, beautiful LOOKING car. JUST DON'T BUY ONE!

I have a 2005 Pacifica that I bought brand new and now have 133,000 miles on it. I have had a problem with the accelerator in the past. It catches when I try to depress it. This has happened 3 times now. The first time was probably at 70,000 miles, the next time was around 100,000 miles and now again. To fix it the shop has "cleaned my fuel system" or maybe they told me they flushed the fuel system. I find this to be a ridiculous expensive (yes only $100) fix. Does anyone out there know how to deal with this situation without taking it to the shop?
I know a lot of posts bash this car, but to me it is like a tank. No major issues with it. I have been hit by one deer and ran over another. It has been backed into by another car and it continues to perform for me. It has been reliable and durable and although it is ten years old, I hate to give it up (my son wants it) but I am concerned it is about time to get something a little newer and probably more reliable. They definitely make cars better now than when I was a young man.

I purchased this used car Nov. 19 2014. The engine light came on less than a month of me owning the vehicle but it kept going off and on. The mechanic couldn't diagnose problem. Once I didn't drive the car too often due to that. Dec. 13 light stayed on after trying to get it in. Upon availability and convenience I took it in Jan. on catalyst system/relay switch. Dealership manager ** stated they will pay half. I decided to bring car in once I had the money..
I got up auto start the car. We got in to drop kids off at school and take it in. We got to the corner of stop sign upon merging into traffic to get to intersection. The entire car just stood still and wouldn't go. I had no idea the car was off without warning.. I panicked a little watching traffic coming toward us. A truck notice afar we wasn't moving. I quickly turn on hazard and husband got out on side partially in front waving his hands. We all got out - 3 daughter trying to push car out of streets. Later I got car towed to dealership. 3 days they couldn't diagnose car. The light apparently had a defect - too drain battery or stays on without you notice. You can't see it's not on. After 4 hours work the day 3 found out PCM SHUT OFF.. MY car VIN isn't listed as a defect but it was obviously missed or owner never came forward so maybe they took it out as being a defected car. Who knows. I'm not happy stuck with a car not to a car I can't even drive.

I have a 2004, I loved it when i got it about 2 years ago, a few months before winter. Soon after I noticed I was going through a set of rear tires every 3 to 4 months. I found out that winter when the rear end of the car kicked out and put me in to a ditch on I-71. So I did some research and found that this was a common problem with some 2004s caused by the camber arms being too short.
I called Jack Maxton's Service Department and they told me that they had never heard of this and had to idea of how to fix it. So I called Performance Chrysler and their Parts Department told me that I would have to buy new camber links that are 1mm longer. Part # 04743311AA for the left and part # 04743310AA for the right, costing about $193 each. I had them put in for $100 per side from a mechanic I know after Chrysler quoted me $800 for both sides not including parts. This did not fix the problem. Now I have to have my mechanic take it off and press in eccentric bushings to fix the factory defect.
The before mentioned crash broke the ball joints, inner and outer tie rods, and sway bar links - front and rear. This cost me another $820 in parts (from NAPA) and about $2000 for the work on top of all of that. The both of the motor mounts are no good costing $100 (from NAPA) and another $300 in labor, $700 for new tires. So with everything I have paid about $4506 in the past year in repairs.
I have not had the rusting problem with the engine cradle yet but I am going to reroute the condenser drainage before it becomes a problem. The blower motor is weak and has to be replaced - have not priced that yet. The fuel gauge drops to E if I am under half a tank then bounces back and forth. Don't know what the problem is with that or how much it is going to cost to fix but the pinging sound is really getting annoying and there is the valve rattle from the broken pin. I priced the part. It is $650-$900 for the part and $1500-$2000 for labor. The lower front bumper is so low that it doubles as a plow in the winter and knocks the lower bumper off and has to be rehung every time you stop. I have not found a fix for this yet
Overall I am very unhappy with this car. It is very underpowered and not very well executed concept. The car is after all a Chrysler 300 crossed with a Dodge Caravan. I do plan on getting rid of the car soon and do not plan on ever buying a Chrysler again. I have tried to talk to people who work for Chrysler and their attitude about the car or ways to fix the car is less than helpful. They basically tell me too bad and to hurry up and get rid of it.

2006 Chrysler pacifica touring - I’ve owned this car for 4 years. I currently have 126,000 miles on it. Regular maintenance. Oil burner I guess as they can’t find no leaks but every 3k when oil gets changed it’s a quart and a half low. I replaced battery, tires, brakes, 02 sensor which is all pretty normal. Now my car is at the dealer as it dies or stalls with no warning. I checked with Chrysler and the 2 modules on recall for the 06 supposedly were not on my particular car. We shall see what the dealer says. Just find it funny that my car is having same issues. For last 2 years my washer fluid light works backwards. Granted I was in a small accident and jug was replaced since light works opposite. When fluid is full empty light is on, when fluid is empty light goes off. And for last year my gas cap light stays on which makes my engine light stay on.. However since this trouble this week both lights went out. Odd. I can say I won’t be buying another Chrysler.

I've gone through two sets of tires, two brake jobs, a battery, and normal maintenance items. Broken parts include motor mounts which made operation of the vehicle noisy but still road-worthy until I could get them replaced, spark coil (missed & backfired when it failed but made it 200 miles to the next major town), and a broken shifter. They have always been sound sturdy and safe... until now. Like so many of you... my engine cradle is rusted and will need to be welded or replaced. Our second car is a 96 Tahoe which has less rust than the Pacifica. I am tempted to park it on a major highway with a sign that states my dissatisfaction. I have a 2007 Pacifica. I have had nothing but problems with this vehicle. First it ran good for about a year. We had to replace the fuel pumps not once but twice which cost me $1500.00 plus a tow charge. Then had another tow charge cause my gas cap light came on and then my engine light and it died completely. Replaced the torque converter which cost me $1300.00 and now the engine light is back on again. The dealership won't take responsibility for this because it's not a brand new vehicle. I would like to know who to contact about this because most families can not go out and buy a new vehicle. I still owe $8000 on this. Please help.

We've had our 2007 Pacifica for several years now, have absolutely loved it until recently. We have about 140k on it now. This car and the Crossfire are more Mercedes than Chrysler, built during the time Daimler and Chrysler were working together. They're SO German, in fact, that Chrysler was forced to cease production of both cars when Daimler pulled out. Overall, it's a really nice, comfortable car with a gorgeous interior and excellent performance. The touring model has a third row making it an excellent alternative to a minivan. If they still made this car, I'd buy a new one in a heartbeat. Reading through all of these posts, it seems evident the class has certain problems, most seem to be associated with higher mileage or how you drive them.
Engine mounts - Design problem. The engine itself is awesome, although German built and expensive to repair. It gets up and goes when you ask it to, quickly and confidently. I think the engine mounts are underrated for the torque. A known problem any decent mechanic can fix. We had it done once, no problem since. Then again, my wife doesn't let me drive it much anymore :-) . Burns oil - yep. We have the same problem; no leaks, but engine oil needs to be monitored. Random shut off - here, too. I actually came here looking for a solution to this problem. Apparently, I'm not the only one. You're just driving down the street and the engine cuts out for no reason. Pull over, put it park, start it up and drive away. Who knows? Our mechanic is stumped.
Suspension - One of those things we haven't dealt with yet, but I can tell it needs to be done. Of course, we have well over 100k miles on it, so I would expect that with any car. Other problems I don't see much/any mention of here - Heat / AC louver in dash - This is new. Just coming into winter and we can ONLY get heat at the driver's seat. Back seat and front passenger seat get cold air. By putting it on recirc at vent level with all the other vents closed, the car still heats up pretty quickly. Talked to the mechanic the other day and it's a $1200-$1500 repair because they have to tear the whole dash out. THAT won't be happening. Taillight electrical issue - Also new. Right/rear brake light isn't working, causing that turn signal to go hyperactive when you brake and use the signal at the same time. Changing the bulb (I've done it twice now) does nothing to fix the problem. I looked into replacing the harness in the fixture but my local supplier has to factory order it and it still comes disassembled, meaning I have to assemble the plugs and all. Ugh. That'll get handed off to an auto electrician. $35 part.
I really expect more from DC. I've owned several Mopar products and been happy. This seems to be a glaring exception to the rule. High mileage, yes, but in 2014 it's reasonable to expect a car to go longer without these major problems. The engine cut-off is a safety issue and the motor mount problem is a design flaw. Both of these issues happened to us before this became a high-mileage vehicle. The cut-off issue, along with the need for over $3000 in repairs (suspension, vents, and rear taillight) are going to force us to replace our Pacifica next summer.

Have had several other repairs ranging in the $100-$400 like motor mounts, etc. Get average of 21 mpg. No ac problems. Does not drive smooth on the highway. So pretty much I bought this car back in May 2014. Since then I have spent $3000 in repairs and the majority was in the front end suspension. Since May 2014 I have had to replace the struts, strut mounts, and axle. Now I thought it was the company sending my mechanic the wrong parts and each time it was a different brand he used. So anyways, my mechanic starts to do all 4 of my engine mounts and when he gets to the last one and has to drop the subframe to the Pacifica, there is nothing but RUST! So him & I start inspecting my car and come to find there is so much rust that I tried to jack up my car 2 week ago and it went right through the side of the car (where you would pump your car up when you get a flat and have to use the stock jack in the car).
I emailed Chrysler to see if they have any suggestions or if there was something they could do. They told me "we're sorry we can't help you, it's way over its warranty". Well no, duh, and they also stated "well just sell it, then it won't be your problem". What kind of service is that?? So pretty much my car has been sitting in the driveway for a few weeks now because I am scared to drive it. I bought this car from a dealership in Temecula, CA. Then finally when I got the CarFax report, this car was from Minnesota. So I don't know if there is anything back east going on with these cars. I know there's a lot of salt back there. But please help. I don't know what to do.

As other consumers have indicated, this car has some of the same problems. Lurching forward when accelerating from a stop (Similar to sticking accelerator or carburetor problem in cars of old). Recently had timing belt replaced and before that, the catalytic converter replaced. It does have a broken motor mount. In last month the car stalled in an intersection while turning. It then started and drove off. 1-2 weeks later, the vehicle wouldn't start while in the driveway at home. The battery was replaced two weeks ago. The engine light is on. Two major codes come up: Catalytic Converter and Service Immobilizer. Local shop is trying to diagnose the problem. The rest of the story is still to be written.
This is my wife's car and she had taken it in for routine maintenance. It has over 100k and I guess we have been lucky compared to others. We're staying away from the dealership. I went in to talk with a veteran service writer. He only suggested the timing belt and didn't know of any other major issues that I might consider. I told him about some fixes I had seen on-line and how it had cost folks a lot of money going through the diagnostic process, replacing parts as it progressed, but still not fixing the problem. I didn't accuse, but the gentleman just suggested I bring it in and should realize that the step by step process is the proper way to find the problem. They couldn't guarantee at what point the problem would be found. They are the dealership and need to know the model's problem history. This allows them to check the known problems, before running the gauntlet of doing a full and costly array of attempts to fix the vehicle. So far, we have only spent a little money and avoided power loss at speed, a dangerous proposition. Work in progress....

04 Pacifica - For an amazingly beautiful and comfortable car, it is just sad that it is also an amazing piece of crap. At 50k miles the motor mounts were replaced by Chrysler under an unpublished recall. By 88k miles the motor needed replaced due to warped heads... engine light never even blinked when that happened.. ended up with brown mud throughout the motor. $3k later it was fixed. Then came the tie rod ends, the motor mounts AGAIN, the horrifying clunking sounds, etc. Oh.. and by 102k miles, the replacement engine BLEW the same way the original motor did only worse and cost another $5800. The horrible clunking sound everyone talks about is from metal connected to the tie rod ends banging backward against the frame... yep, fixed that too.... thankfully have a friend who is a mechanic... fixed it for $300 instead of the $750 that the shop that installed motor #2 wanted.
The water leaks people talk about.. yep, have those too... leaks in from the windshield and comes out the small plug that is on the inside near the visor..... related windshield and it still does it.... no clue how to fix that. The hydraulic lifts for the rear liftgate only hold the liftgate up when they want to.... those are over $600 to replace unless you do them yourself. If you lose a rear break light, better find a bank to rob because the cost will set you back a few hundred. Yes, had to fix those as well. Air pressure monitoring system is crap... they constantly say low pressure even when pressure is correct... replaced all 4 at $135 each... they still do it so must be a main computer malfunction. Absolutely dogs on hills..... no power. It was a much happier car in FL... she hates the PA hills.
Honestly, the only good things I have to say about the hunk of junk is that it is the most comfortable car we have ever owned and nothing beats it for long distance drives. We took it back and forth from FL to PA at least 8 times and for that reason alone have we put up with the hunk of junk. The interior is gorgeous... leather that is butter soft and even after 110k miles still looks nearly new. Our AC has always worked perfectly.. thank goodness because you can't survive in FL without it. Chrysler should have recalled these cars years ago.. no wonder they only made them for a few years... and the government dropped the ball on requiring Chrysler to fix all of the problems. If you ever see a Pacifica.... don't walk away.. RUN... they are money pits with major safety issue.

All 4 motor mounts failed on 2007 Chrysler Pacifica. It happened in 2 separate incidents. As I was driving, I began to notice a clunking sound coming from the engine compartment, mostly when beginning to accelerate from a complete stop or when stopping abruptly. On the second occasion, I also felt a thumping sensation through the floor by the gas pedal in conjunction with the clunking noise. I can understand an occasional part failing, but when ALL 4 are defective, that is clearly a manufacturer's issue and should be subject to recall. It should not be the consumer's responsibility to pay for the cost of faulty design. The cost to replace them was over $1,500.

Chrysler put up a recall for something in the vehicle called a pcm - power control module. That's what my car needed and it was sent back to the dealership and fixed in 07 but this just happened to me last week so I contacted Daimler Chrysler which is corporate and they're looking into it. If it is the pcm like the mechanic said, they will cover the cost to fix it again, labor and all. I hope you see this, it will save you a lot of money if your vehicle was one of the recalls. You just call Daimler Chrysler and give them your vehicle vin number and they will let you know if your specific vehicle was up for the recall for the pcm.

Also front right strut and strut housing because it was so rotted out it went through my HOOD! The topper of this list is the sub frame, it's so bad it's either park it or let the bank take it back. Called Chrysler and they said this is the first time they heard of this problem before and there's nothing they could do since I'm not the original owner. Looking at these forums and seeing hundreds of people complaining of the same problem makes this very hard to believe. Not sure what to do next but there has to be something. As of right now the whole CV axle is also rusted out, seals leaking oil, like I said just a big rust bucket!!! Wouldn't recommend anyone to buy this car. It's a big POS!!!

Chrysler Pacifica 2006 - 3 days ago while over my neighbors house (A woman with 3 kids who has always, ALWAYS put her children's safety as #1 on their list) asked me if I could put the trim back on her shift. Earlier that day, she was at a stop light, & the car stalled. So she put it in park, & It took her 3 or 4 times of cranking the engine to get it running. But when it started, she said it continued to ding for about 10-15 seconds longer than normal. Then she looked down and saw that ALL of the dash lights had came on & stayed on as if the the key was in the ON position without the engine running.
The ABS, Traction control, tire pressure, brakes, etc... All of them were on while the engine was running. The temp needle was swaying, the tachometer was bouncing from 0 to 1500 rpms just sitting at an idle. The digital odometer was going off & on, but through all of this the engine was running normal. But when she went to move it, it was locked in park. Shift wouldn't budge
So she had called her husband, who then informed her of a button under the lower right corner of the chrome shift trim. She popped up the trim & used a pen to push in the button, and she was able to drive it home. But when she pulled in she noticed the windows wouldn't go up, the moon roof wouldn't close, and also noticed the LEDs on the radio weren't on. So trying the radio, of course, it wasn't working either. The check engine light was on and it was blinking. I have a code scanner for OBD2 systems so I connected it and I waited for it to scan, but waited & waited and waited. Then an error came up saying the scanner could not make contact with the computer.
So something electrical happened. BIG-TIME. These things take a factory authorized scanner to diagnose such problems, so I could only check connections, fuses & relays and those all showed to be fine. I have seen other complaints here with some pertaining to similar problems that not even the factory trained technicians at the dealers can figure out. I can't understand why manufacturers are putting so much complicated electronics into these vehicles without the capacity to diagnose every possible problem that may arise from a failure within it.
Instead, their attitude is to replace parts, "SUSPECTED" parts, and leave the customer with outrageous price tags on process of elimination techniques by these so-called experts. I mean a perfectly running, never hit, always maintained vehicle that goes from having no electronic problems at all for years, running perfect one day to total electronics meltdown in the middle of an intersection the next day, must have a reason. ESPECIALLY the dealer, OUT OF EVERYONE, shouldn't need to replace part after part after part before the problem is eventually solved, costing the vehicle owner tons of money. If my foundation is falling in, then my walls will crack. So replacing the wall doesn't fix the problem with the foundation. Fixing the foundation is.

I bought a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica in late July of this year from a Jeep dealership with exactly 100K miles. I really like the basic idea the car offers me: Room. Nobody's cramped. I can haul trash to the dump (I don't have the 3rd row seat). It's All Wheel Drive. It isn't ugly. Previous to this, I drove a 2002 Volvo V70. I swapped cars with my dad and he wound up destroying it, which led me to purchase this car. I didn't have much time to shop.
There are concerns. Straight out of the lot, the car failed inspection because the OBDII had been reset and not driven far enough. Then, the oil light came on (they replaced an oil pump which corrected it). Then, the check engine light came on. They reset it, I brought it back and it passed inspection with another independent dealer (it was notated that not all systems were "ready", but that a car can pass with one system not fully cycled - which would be the one that would fail). The light CONTINUES to come on. It is for EVAP code. I have brought the car back 3 times now and have an appointment for a 4th attempt. I told them that I would return this car if they can't fix it properly because I really can't keep bringing it back. I like it, it does what I need it to - but this is ridiculous.
This isn't some 20 year old rust heap. It's in good shape otherwise. I believe the original owner (it is a 1-owner) could not find how to fix this problem so they reset the light and dragged it into the dealership where I fell for it. I have awful luck with cars. When I bought my previous car, the Volvo, the car wound up costing the dealership $4000 because it immediately needed a transmission overhaul and could not pass inspection either because of the Check Engine light, which came up for an O2 and MAP sensors. That dealership personally vowed to me that they would never put another Volvo on their lot. Five years later - and I drive by it all the time - they have never put another Volvo on their lot. Next time, I'm having someone else pick out my car.

Bought my 04 Pacifica from the original owner at about 55K miles. Perfect car at the time, fully loaded, wonderful for road trips with the children and has DVD and wireless headphones, which the headphones were the first to go...... I continually have to keep tires at perfect air or the tire system light will go on. At this point, that is the least of my worries. I have had to have the windshield replaced, due to a dink in the glass and even though afterwards the company would not own that they may have not sealed it right. I now have a leaking car from almost every place water can come in: windshield, windows and sunroof. Now that I live with duct tape around every crevice, (which BTW works very well until it gets too hot, unsticks and starts flopping around on the highway like an SOS flag) I also have an engine light on.
Whether it be the chicken or the egg, I cannot say. Did the water leaking cause electrical or was that already an issue. My AC does not work and the controller that lights up to show the heat and air is completely not lit. It decides when it wants to work or not. I have had belts replaced, gas cap replaced, hoses replaced, EGR replaced and the darn Engine light will not go off! I am at my wits end. I HAVE to get it inspected so that I may drive to my job, so anyone got any ideas? I am all ears. My second car is a Toyota Camry and has 127,000 miles and no expensive repairs. The Pacifica has 105,000 miles, go figure. So long Chrysler, I am buying a Toyota next week.

I literally just purchase a Chrysler Pacifica today and by the time I drove it to my sister house and back, it cut off. At first I thought maybe it was the battery from sitting too long. However, once I jump-started it and tried to put it in gear, it cut off several times. Then about an hour later I went back to see if it would start and all the lights flicked as if it was something electrical. I may have lost all of my money for a lemon.

We are the original owners of a 2007 Pacifica. A little over a year ago, the vehicle began dying when we were driving--usually at low speeds. But this shut off the power steering and power brakes, and probably, the airbags. Since the GM problems, I've become more worried about this. We took this to the dealer last July (2013) who charged us $625 for a wiring connector. The problem became better, but then in January of 2014, we had more problems, which cost us $1700 and though the vehicle ran better, we still encountered stalling. Took it back: new battery. More stalling: another $1000.
Today, the vehicle stalls about one each time out and once each time back. I'm afraid to take this to the dealer who, obviously, likes to charge me money without actually knowing what is wrong. Oh, and I've replaced every one of the engine mounts once or twice in the 110,000 miles we've placed on this vehicle. The vehicle rides nicely, but something is wrong and I feel I've been lucky that when it dies out, we are traveling at low speeds.

When the light is on, it makes a "ding " sound and cut off my radio and interior lights are flickering. Go to the mechanic and even the dealer, they both can't find the problem and can't fix. Secondly, the converter and related issues got fix two times which cost me more than 3 thousands recently. Thirdly, very seriously, the car stops suddenly on me few times while driving. And talked to my mechanic. He said he did not find anything wrong. This car really gets me mixed with scary and nerve. Don't know how much still need to put on this horrible and unreliable car!! I have a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica, manufacture date of 6/04. We purchased this car in 2009 while living in Western NY. We have since moved to North Carolina. Last year I noticed that the car would lunge forward after coming to a complete stop, and it was making a sound from the front of the car when this happened. I took it to a dealer that told me the underneath of my car is rusted out and that two of the engine mounts were broken. He told me that my engine could have fallen out while I was driving down the road. (Scared me to death as I have two kids.)
Last week, I had it in to change the tires and was told my tie rod ends are bad and again, the underneath is completely rusted out. First, I have already replaced those tie rods twice. This time I decided to investigate online to see if this was a problem with the Pacifica. I am just sick after reading all of the same problems other people have had. I thought maybe the mechanics in North Carolina were just not used to seeing rust. Now I am afraid to drive this car. I also have the problem of sputtering when I reach about 55 or going up an incline. Feels like starting a stick shift in 3rd.
The dealer never can find the problem. If I drive through a deep puddle, the steering will lock-up. Dealer told me that was normal on all cars and to avoid deep puddles? I loved this car. It is perfect for a busy family of four. If Chrysler thinks that they can wait it out in hopes that these cars are old and won't be on the road much longer, think again. We cannot afford another vehicle. We just paid this vehicle off last year and have no choice but to keep it for a long time. My husband's Plymouth Voyager had 190,000 miles when we finally had to trade it in for another high mileage vehicle. By the way it too was a northern car and we never had to replace anything because of rust. Other than normal wear and tear, we never had any major problems.
Chrysler needs to take a long look at GMC and what they are now going through. It is going to cost them more in the long run if someone is killed because their engine falls out while they are driving down the road than it is to do a recall and fix the problem. Has anyone contacted the news channels or dateline? With all of the GMC interest, this would be a perfect time.

In December 2013, I bought a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica from Randy Wise Ford. Last month we found out that the vehicle needs new tie rods, struts and that the sub-frame is rusted and has holes. Called the dealership to let them know what was going on to which he said that he legally could not have sold me the car if it was that bad. I am noticing that there are several people out there with the same issue of a rusted frame. When I spoke to the dealer, I told him I expected some wear and tear as it was a used car; however, the sub-frame is unacceptable! They were not willing to do anything about the frame and told me that it must have happened during the 6 months that I've owned the vehicle. I am not stupid enough to believe; just not sure where to go from here. I had the battery checked and it always just needed charged. Now, I got stuck behind a car accident the other day and put the car in park to wait. When I went to put the car in gear, my radio shut off, all my braking system lights came on and it started dinging at me. And, of course, it wouldn't shift out of park. So the accident ahead cleared and I was stuck in the middle of a state route with no way to get off the road. We could not even push it, because it wouldn't go in neutral. I had to call for a tow to get it removed from the road. Had it towed to a dealer and they changed the shift assembly.
On the way home, my brake light and abs light came on and the radio shut off. But then it went back to normal. I thought it was just a fluke. Later that day, it happened again. I was out of town when I got it repaired, and that dealer is over an hour away now. It happened again yesterday and wouldn't shift out of park. And my power windows also quit working. I tried it again before calling for a tow again and it worked! But now I have to take it to another dealer here to have it looked at again. I love this car, but reading all these reviews has me concerned! And my issues are starting to worry me. I owe a lot of money on this vehicle and am a single mom with 3 kids to support. I cannot afford too many repairs. Now I understand why this vehicle stopped being manufactured!

What I will NOT do is take it back to a dealer for repair because they have made it very clear that they have no idea what they're doing when it comes to this vehicle! The last two mechanics I have taken it to have done a better job and the repairs last longer!
Most recently I took it in to a Diamond Certified transmission shop thinking something was wrong with it. What I found out is the transmission is perfectly fine and my problem was the result of the dealer installing the wrong type of battery (Chrysler and Jeep require something special due to the way the electronics are designed)! They also informed us that it had the wrong spark plugs installed, again this was the dealer's fault! Before getting the most recent repair which cost $1000 for the new battery, spark plugs, trannie service, tune up and motor mounts replaced, I also had problems with the automatic tailgate working intermittently - would get a message that it's too cold to operate the lift gate, even in 90 degree weather. I was told that problem resided with the computer which can't be fixed, only replaced for around $4000, so of course I lived with it. Lo and behold, the tailgate works perfectly now that the correct battery is installed. Go figure!

Had just replaced it.... Then was told transmission needed to be pulled to test it. Nope, had it towed home.
Short of it... it was the alternator... charged good enough but was sending 'EM noise' into the wiring harness. Replaced it and all has been fine. Mechanic (neighbor) that helped me, said he sees this all the time, especially with certain cars (like Pacifica). Sometimes it will happen at random times, making it hard to diagnose. There really should be something on the alternator wire to squelch that noise. It's a shame an alternator can wreak such havoc and drive people to hating a car.

Some chronic problems we've noted - and reading the complaints, I think I have one of the good vehicles. The parking break release lever is not designed well and breaks every year or so with normal use. Like other posters here, we have had trouble with the car losing all power suddenly on the road. When the car sits for a few moments, it will restart but will die again at random times. With minor search online, we discovered that the '05 and '06 models had the same problem and it was a fault between the fuel injection system and the computer. We brought this to the attention of the dealer and they refused to consider that this was the issue. We should have persisted, but I needed my car, so after three failed dealer visits, we took it to an independent mechanic who identified the problem immediately - faulty fuel injection and had me running.
A year later and my Pacifica is in for the same reason. This time, the mechanic says it's a failed fuel pump. Knowing there are two fuel pumps on this thing, and others commenting that one will go if the other does, I'm ready for it. Only this time, I'll be ready to trade it in on something more reliable. We also had issue with the engine mount. Fuel leak code caused the engine light to be on for awhile. Sure enough, there is a leak somewhere in my fuel line. I purchased a 2007 Pacifica brand new and bought the extended Chrysler Care Warranty. Three months after getting vehicle, the transmission started acting up. The dealer I got the car from had closed and a new dealer was handling Chryslers. The service manager advised me that my vehicle had a "learning transmission". I advised that it hadn't learned much. He further stated the vehicle had no recalls, so there was nothing they could do. I then took the car to another dealer in another town, where they advised that "no there was not any recalls" because Chrysler sends out "bulletins" to dealers. My transmission was then changed by this dealership.
Now in late 2013 the tranny started the same problem, so I was finally able to take it to my local dealer in Apr. 2014. The service department advised me that I needed to give permission for a tear-down of my tranny. The service dept advised this is standard and that all components are covered by warranty, so I would not have to pay for it. After my tranny was in pieces on workbench, I was advised that my "lifetime" warranty had been terminated and it would cost $3100.00 to fix. I contacted Chrysler and argued for about an hour. I was advised that I didn't take car in for 5yr drive-train inspection. I told (5) five different people that I was never advised that this was required. One of these people advised me to turn to page 12 in my warranty book.
When I did, this area referred to wasn't covered. She then stated, "You were given the wrong book"... LOL. The next day I received a call from Chrysler Corp. Office, stating they had sent a letter in Oct 2012 to remind me of inspection. I advised this woman that I had not received any such letter. She stated there was nothing they could do.... I bought it used from Phil Long Ford in Colorado. Don't ever shop there. They knew this car needed a ton of work and admitted it after they sold it to me. Then they tried to get me to sign for a new car. But I was already in love with my Pacifica. So first, it was the front struts - $800.00. Then 1 month later, it was the starter - $700.00. I have replaced tail and headlights every three months now. Headlights from Walmart, $12.98. Taillights $5.96. Now we are looking at a T- body, new spark plugs. Pep Boys wants $489.00 to change. O2 understream $289.00. Oil pan because Pep Boys messed mine up, $670.00. But don't let people charge you $360.00 for a pan or any other part. Look online or go to your local pull and take. Bought my 2004 Pacifica around 2010. Had a light that was first diagnosed as a gas cap. Turned out to be the charcoal filter underneath the chassis driver side. Had to change it to pass inspection. The car would not start sometimes then not start at all, then the battery would drain, blamed on a bad battery/alternator. Turned out to be the negative cable attached to the transmission near the tire on the driver side. I also thought prior I had a bad starter because of it. (Waste of money replacing them.) The replacement cable was six bucks. Jack the car up a little bit and a 15mm wrench solved the problem. What happens from what I determined is that when the motor mounts are bad (unknown to you at the time) the rocking of the motor tears up that connection frying the wire over time.
As far as the motor mounts being replaced which I did myself they failed again. What I noticed when I replaced them a second time that the bolt on the front bracket for the mount near the radiator that is tightened from the top looking down was loose, which I saw when I did the mounts the first time. Not sure if I made the mistake myself I put a lock washer behind the nut. Since then no occasional clunks stopping hard or going in to gear clunk on a hill up or down and no re-occurrence of the motor mount problem. I have heard of these brackets breaking maybe possible because of the bolt backing out and flex breaking due the motion of the motor.
I checked the nut with the lock washer on occasion when changing the oil and found it to be secure as of this writing. Also note with a lot of the computer drive-in (ECM) cars that when the battery connection is lost by changing the cable sometimes a re-learn process must be performed on the first run after re-connection because the tranny will not shift right mimicking a bad shifting tranny. You might have to disconnect the battery cable more than once and wait at least 15 minutes before re-connecting then drive the car slowly to get the shift patterns right. Had to replaced the dash because the info center display stopped working. Had to replace the heater/air control because the functions stop working from top to bottom air.
Got them from eBay at minimal cost, plug and play type connections. The rear hatch will not go up on cold days but I can live with that. I did replace the hydraulic for them but it did not solve the problem. Everything else works great. Got lucky with the rust problem I guess because of location New Jersey but I'm going to have to drive this car to the wheels fall off due to the resale value. Had I researched this car due to all the reported problems that I know of now I would not have bought this car. It stills looks and drive good. What a shame for its reputation.

I had the fuel issue a few years ago - gauge suddenly dropping to E, not allowing me to put fuel in, etc. Fuel pump issue, had to replace it plus the other pump b/c they said if I only replaced one, it would soon malfunction due to computer issue. Had the same problem after the repair. Different dealer (moved out of state) said it was a faulty part they would warranty, but only replace one, even though I raised the issue of having to replace both at the same time. Told dealer about the smell out the exhaust - they say it is okay. Told dealer about the burning of oil and that I have oil leaking - they say it is fine. Still have noise in rear when backing up - they can't find a problem. They changed my oil but did not see and leaks
I drove my car from the last dealer right to another one who found the following problems. Mileage: 76,855; Repairs: Multiple engine oil leaks as follows: camshaft thrust plate gaskets, spark plug tube seal, cylinder cover gasket, oil pan gasket, Tube: oil filter, intake plenum gasket, valve cover gaskets, oil filter neck w, o-ring. Got my car back but now it is really pulling to the right and my steering wheel is turning to the left. Crazy!! What now?? Back to the dealer I go!!
I can't believe it!!! Can't be true. Prestige Chrysler put in my power steering gear box WRONG!! As if I am not afraid enough with my car stalling as I am driving down the road or my gas pedal sticking or jumping forward. Now the dealership wants to kill me and my family!! The rubber boots on the end of the power steering box were being twisted and sucked up into the gear box itself. I have the pictures. I was smart enough to know something was not right and to get it to the new dealership. I was told that I am lucky that I made it safely to them. I would have lost any and all control of my steering ability!! I am now dealing with a Executive Referrals Manager named Michael ** @ Chrysler Group. He authorized the new dealership to put a new steering box in free of charge to me. Shocker seeing it was not my error.
I received my car back and it is still not right!!! My gas pedal still sticks, cuts out or throws my car forward. Mr. ** told me to bring the car back to the dealer for further diagnoses. However, this morning driving my kids to school my car shut off on me TWO time as I was driving it down the street. Thankfully, I was able to avoid a car crash both times. I am not driving that car ANYPLACE! They can tow it to the dealer!! My total repair cost are $9,653.93 and climbing fast. That amount does not include the second power steering gear box. We need to file a class action against Chrysler before someone has to die!! If you have the same problems I am having please look me up. God Speed to all you Pacifica owners.

I wanted to respond to the many complaints about the motor mounts. I bought my Pacifica (4 kids-car of my dreams) in 2005 with 17K miles. It now has 179K miles. Regular maintenance is performed. I have replaced the motor mounts twice. I have an issue with the gas pedal sticking. There is a random clunking sound if I apply brakes too fast. My front seats won't move. The dashboard cracked after about 60K miles. I called Whitten Brothers in Midlothian, Va and they told me the recall for the seats were sent out and mine had expired so I would have to pay for it myself. I NEVER received a recall notice. All other issues they say were not detected. I still love the body style and would keep my car if I can get Chrysler to be responsible and own up to what are obvious flaws and fix them. They did not offer to meet me in the middle with the repairs. My husband insists the car is trash and told me to trade it in to the highest bidder.

I also bought a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica Touring. I am so very upset that this car has cost as much in repairs as it is worth. I purchased my vehicle in October of this year and I may have driven it for one solid month so far, and it is still in the shop. The first trip entailed motor mounts, tie rods, tire seals, EGR valve, a computer. Then the car would not stay running and would shut off when in idle. Off to the shop again for a timing belt and for the idle to be reset. The next trip to the shop was in Feb. and they are still unable to find out what is wrong with my vehicle, even after a Chrysler field tech came out to the dealership. I am disgusted. I have spent over $5000 in repairs. Does anyone have more info regarding a class action lawsuit against Chrysler? Please respond with details.

We have a 2007 Chrysler Pacifica that we purchased with 80,000 miles on it. We were lied to when we bought it. We were told it only needed a Gas Cap to make the gas cap light go off. As it turns out, after much diagnosis, it needed a Natural Vacuum Leak Detector to turn the light off. In addition to this, it does have the clunky motor mount issue. I would like to get the motor mounts replaced for free. Does anybody know who to contact in order to get involved with the class action suit to seek recall? Otherwise, it's getting the job done. I have to say that my Chrysler pacifica has never given me any issues other than work that routinely needs to be done. My pacifica is at almost 200,000 miles and is still running and driving strong. I am just now starting to have to do work. In the four years, I have had it. I have put a lot of miles on it and have done breaks, oil changes, transmission flush, oil pressure sensor, a few tire sensors, tie rods, sway bars & linkage, shocks.... that's literally it with all the miles I have put on it. As of right now, the only thing I need to buy and have put in is a transmission solenoid pack.....and that's about $400 total with labor and controls the transmission. I feel like I got lucky reading all these horror stories. Mines running like a champ, but I do keep it serviced.

I have a 2006 Pacifica. I was so happy, because I thought it was an awesome car. Got it with pretty low mileage. I've had it for about two years almost. Once when I was getting an oil change the place tried to tell me I had two bad motor mounts. I figured they were trying to get extra money from me. I was upset and never went back there. Later a mechanic friend of mine was replacing my brakes and when he went to test drive it when he was done he heard/felt the rocking sound. He checked under my car and inside and diagnosed it as my motor mounts. I was shocked! That's the same thing the other place said.
After that, I had a bad caliper. I got that replaced. Now my ABS light/brake light beeps and lights up when I'm driving and my electric starts shorting out. Once my blinker stopped working while the electric was crackling, but it started working again. My car has tried to not start many times and today it cut off on me trying to get off the freeway ramp. Lastly the gas cap sign stays on. I replaced it with a cap from O'Reilly's and that didn't work so I was trying to look up the Chrysler Pacifica gas cap part online and when I Googled it I found this forum, lol.

In a nutshell I have a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica that I have loved but is almost worthless and unsafe! My 2004 Chrysler Pacifica has been plagued with suspension problems. I replaced the front sway bar links and a few months later they need replacing. Through all this I have complained that it rides like a truck with clunking on bumps. Brought to Chrysler dealers and outside firms. In March the Chrysler dealer said the sway bar link bolts were just loose. I was asked, "Why do you want to trade it in? There is nothing wrong with it." In June I brought it back for the same noises. Now they told me I need $3000 in repairs - front sway bar links bad again, front & rear struts, rear springs. Gee, all in 3 months.
Now the kicker - I decided to get another car from a relative who had his Dodge dealership yanked - so I bring the Pacifica down and lo they wouldn't take it in trade as the engine cradle is rusted through. Brought to a Chrysler dealer and they want $5k-$6k to just fix the cradle problem. I called NHTSA and Chrysler. Then I go online and find that bulletins and a recall letter were sent out to a few. 10 years and 150k miles - gee I now have 154k and the dealer missed it in March when I had under the limit? There are tons of testimonials on this problem. In just the last few weeks the Chrysler dealer told another customer the same bad news. The junk dealer told me that a lady was in and reported that she could not drive hers in a straight line. By the way he offered me $500.
Chrysler knows they have a problem, the one dealer actually said that they only check what, we, the owners ask for - translates into we aren't told what is wrong. So, Chrysler doesn't stand by their vehicles and the dealers say they can be of no help and keep mum on the subject. This car was recently rear-ended. If I had known I would have pocketed the $2700 check instead of getting the car repaired. The insurance co. appraised the car for $7500. Well, I was told I could get $500-$1000 for it as a parts car. Imagine if I spent the $3000 to find the car is worthless. Chrysler should be sued if they do not recall these vehicles. Everyone who owns a Pacifica should be warned to have their cars inspected. The gov't (NHTSA) should force a recall and needs the complaints to come in so they can do so.

After the repair, my car was making noise again so I stopped by Firestone and they told me the under carriage was rusted through. We bought my 2006 Chrysler Pacifica Touring package vehicle in 2008 with only 5500 miles on it. It drove great and was very comfortable and had a smooth ride. Fast forward to 2012 and the poop hit the fan. First I had the problem with the ABS light coming on for no reason, according to 2 mechanics. The second mechanic was able to fix the problem. Then I had to replace tie rids and motor mounts. I had a problem with the car tuning off during turns. The worst and most costly issue is the gas gauge dropping to E from the half tank mark. 1st mechanic thought he resolved the issue by replacing the sensors. Wrong. It happened again and then wouldn't let me fill up. Second mechanic replaced all fuel line system, etc. Worked for 7 months, now it's doing it again.
We take trips from Alabama to Texas so this is an unacceptable issue. No one can figure out why this keeps reoccurring. After reading all these other Pacifica owners' complaints, I believe it's time to contact the US consumer trade department and filing an official government complaint to see if they can assist in getting Chrysler to acknowledge the severity of some of the issues that the Pacifica has. It's not a matter of if an issue with the Pacifica will cause a tragedy but when. I think there needs to be a proper paper trail for when that time arrives.

I purchased a 2008 Chrysler Pacifica five years ago with only 52,000 miles on it. Within a year, I had to change out the motor mounts. They have been changed out three more times since. Two years ago I had to change out the shifter, then the air conditioner needed repairs. Shortly thereafter, the car started shutting off without warning while driving down the road. I took it to my local mechanic since I could not afford the dealership's outrageous repair costs. He first could not duplicate the problem on the computer. When the problem continued, he took it home and drove it for a week and lo and behold, it started cutting off on him. However, he could not get the problem to register on his computer. So he hooked the computer up to the car and drove around until it shut off again. He then restarted the car in neutral but nothing registered. When it cut off the third time he restarted the car after putting it in park and the computer diagnosed the problem as the computer within the car. So I replaced the computer.
Within a week it started cutting off again. I returned the car and to this day he is at a loss as to what is going on. Two weeks ago, the car shut off again while I was going around a curve. Before I could restart the car, I began running off the road and almost hit a tree. By the grace of God, I was able to restart and take control of the car once again. At this point, I took it directly to Galeanea (the dealership) along with all the records as to what has been done to the car. That same day they said it was the ABS module (bear in mind this was checked by the previous mechanic). Not knowing what else to do, I allowed them to change this out.
YOU GUESSED IT, within a day the car continued to shut off. I returned it to them 5 days ago and they still have it. So an unneeded repair was done to the tune of $550. Yesterday, they called to tell me that they consulted with the other mechanic and tried to pin the problem on the repairs he had made. THE PROBLEM WAS THERE BEFORE HE MADE ANY REPAIRS! When he provided a list of the approved Chrysler parts he used, they backed off. Then they called me and now are saying the battery cables on the car appear to be more for marine type use than automobile. If the wrong battery cables are on there, they came on the car when I bought it from Galeanea, because I have never replaced them.
In the time I have owned this car, I have spent well over $5000 in repairs. Now, I have a life-threatening issue Chrysler is taking very lightly. I have read countless reviews on various websites and this is NOT an isolated issue. I guess it will take someone getting killed before they will do anything about it.

The thumping became so pronounced that we decided to do online research and found that hundreds of others were experiencing broken motor mounts, so we had it inspected and found both mounts were completely torn in half. Since then we have replaced them 4 times. Each time driving the vehicle even more carefully. This has cost us more than $3000 in parts and labor.
This is obviously a design flaw as there should be more than two mounts taking the torque load. I called Chrysler last year and told them about our issue, they sat there and told me they have never heard of this issue and it must be an isolated incident. This was a bold-faced lie if one does a simple Google search on Pacifica motor mount complaints and sees the hundreds of other owners who have dealt with this issue. From dealers telling car owners they are just driving too hard to telling the car owners that they have never seen this issue, it is very clear that Chrysler is trying to subvert its responsibility on to the customer as this would mean every single Pacifica would need a retrofit to add additional mounts or Chrysler would have to cover the cost every time someone brought their vehicles in for these mounts. I for one think they should cover the cost every time they break. Where is the consumer protection on this issue. I have checked tons of complaint sites and forums but no one has ever said anything about there being any resolution. Please help.

I am saddened to see so many unhappy people with the PACIFICA. Here is my story. My spouse got cancer, we went into the hospital for surgery, came out the next day to find an employee had smashed her personal vehicle. We went to Chrysler looking for a used car... and as I walked past the PACIFICA, I just wished we could have bought that car. It turned out that the price was $38000 and some change. Here's where the story gets interesting. I had Chrysler knock off their advertising costs, their transport costs, added a discount for my school discount, and there were several "sales" going on. So, the price comes down to around $30000. Still can't afford it. So, I said, "Look, we're gonna go." But wait! It's the last day of the month! "Make us an offer!!" Okay, $25000. SOLD to the woman recovering from cancer. Note: We bought this car from Chrysler on W. Henrietta Rd in Rochester, NY.
Most people don't know that the PACIFICA has a MERCEDES engine in it. In fact, we NEVER had a problem with the car. It was comfortable, drove easy, had the lift gate (no problems there either), heated seats (I wanted those), AND there was an electronic control to move the foot pedals closer or farther away from the driver's seat. Why is this important? Because I am 5'9" and my spouse is 5'2". This made life so nice. I LOVED this car. It was in a major accident and I was very sad to see it go. When I started looking for a replacement vehicle, I looked for another PACIFICA only to find that Chrysler discontinued it.
Some people liked it...and some didn't. But I will say, "BRAVO, Chrysler." All they had to do was market to the right people. This was a mom car... and they advertised it to the 60+ crowd. BIG MISTAKE. Too bad though. I'm looking for another car now... and guess what? I'm looking for a used PACIFICA.

It felt like I had run into a wall. I put the brakes on and then the car died. Turned the ignition back on and pushed on the gas. It wasn't moving any way in drive so I put it in reverse and it barely backed up. I parked it, called a tow truck to find out at 80,000 the transmission was SHOT. 80,000 miles really?
So we sand $3500.00 into a re-built tranny, got the car back 2 MONTHS later. Now the FUEL gauge is not working right. I am only able to put in 5 gallons of gas and the pump stalls and I have to force more in, but cannot get it to fill up completely EVER. In the past month, it has left me stranded more than I can count. The car says it has gas in it. In fact today when it happened, it was at 1/2 a tank. Chrysler, you have serious crappy cars, and I wouldn't send my worst enemy to buy a car from your company. I have owned a Chrysler product since 1970. From Voyagers, Caravans, LeBaron's, Town & Countrys, and yes a Pacifica. There has never been the problems that all the rest have incurred. Simple maintenance was always applied as a template to keep them operating at peak efficiency. My biggest mistake was selling the Pacifica with less than 70K miles on. It was using oil. However I later found out that all new cars are just as thirsty. The reason is the usage of 50 weight oil versus the traditional 30 weight. The lighter oil helps with gas mileage, and thus is used more readily. I traded it in for a 2008 T&C. I am happy with it, but miss all the amenities that the former ride gave me. Anyway, I am sad to read all of the complaints the other posters have provided. I am fairly sure similar comments are expressed about all the other nameplates. So I got my 2006 Chrysler Pacifica about a year ago. I love everything about it except the mechanics on it. First it was the brakes. I had gotten all the brakes and rotors replaced... As the brakes and rotors are getting fixed, the mechanic comes in and says, "Your motor mounts are shot..." I'm like, "What???" I'm 24 years old... and I'm not made of money so the brakes are $475 plus $678 for the motor mounts. Shortly after I was driving home and as I was driving in my driveway, my whole front end collapses on the ground. What do you know, both CV joints are broken in half... So it turns out that the entire front end is completely trashed for reasons I can't say. I'm like my father. I keep up with maintenance and tires, oil changes and all the normal routine checks so for something like this to happen, I have to be doing something wrong... Not!...
Well, when they get done with the front end, it turns out the transmission is trashed as well so we are talking $1,500 for the front end and $5,000 for the tranny. It's like oh my god, can anything else go wrong?... Oh yes, yes it can...My control arms that were just replaced are going out.... and to make matters worse, my Pacifica just shuts off when turning??? What??? I could have been killed.... and my passengers as well... All maintenance is done. No lights on the dashboard... I would trade it in but I have invested so much into it I'm not about to do that.... No help from Chrysler. It's their fault for making a cheap vehicle....I'm so disappointed with it.... disappointed with Chrysler... My college fund is being used on this car... I love this car but it breaks me money wise.... My suggestion is if you're looking at one, don't get it. It is a headache with no help from Chrysler... Save your money and buy a Ford... or anything else... (I'm going to put a couple of pics of my vehicle. You can always tell how well a vehicle is by how it runs and looks).

Gee,all in 3 months.

We bought our 2005 Pacifica used in 2008 with 30,000 miles on it, and it ran great for about a year. Then we started having some of the same problems mentioned in other reviews. The shifter went out. The motor mounts needed to be replaced twice. The ABS sensor malfunctioned. The air conditioner never blew cold even though it was fully charged. We finally had it when the car started losing power when accelerating. It would jerk and shake and not want to accelerate.
We took it to the dealer and they wanted $400 to replace the EGR, which we did twice along with the $700.00 for the O2 sensor because it is on the same circuit and may have been causing the problem... and $1,000 new motor mounts. AGAIN!!!! None of this fixed anything. The problems still exist exactly the same and I can not get gas to go into the tank - it shuts off every $10.00 in and I have to pull the nozzle out and let gas flow slowly so it does not backwash. It takes 20 mins to even get half a tank of gas in this car!!! The car has about NO trade in value (they want to give me like $1,200.00) but I owe over 5K because everyone knows of this problem! I would never buy this product again.

I have only replaced maintenance items (brakes, struts, etc.), and the dreaded subframe rot is completely absent. A co-worker has over 200,000 miles on hers and is just as happy as I am. The interior has held up to 6 years of abuse by children with every single button and switch working perfectly. My 5th straight Chrysler purchase will be followed up by #6 soon.

We purchased our Pacifica in 2007 because it had a lifetime warranty on the power train. We felt we were going to drive the car a long time and therefore bought the extended warranty as well for $1800, something we usually don't do. Other than replacing the motor mounts at 60K miles in 2011 (interestingly not covered by either warranty), we have loved the car until one week ago when at 88K miles, the transmission locked up and wouldn't run.
Chrysler says our warranty is void because we did not take the car in in 2012 for an inspection, a stipulation of which we were never notified and of which our original dealer says was not in effect when we bought the car in 2007. We are facing a $3500 repair and Chrysler is denying us any coverage.
Any suggestions? We need help.

A couple of years ago, we started having the same issues with my car. My oil was constantly low when we checked it. My husband started googling information on these issues and discovered that Chrysler was aware of an issue with engines on the 2005 models. There was internal friction creating the leak. We spent several months dealing with the dealer and them dealing with Chrysler. Part of the issue was this was all happening during the time Chrysler was getting ready to file bankruptcy. So of course that made it very difficult to get anything out of them.
We eventually won out and they agreed to put a new engine in my car. I have not had any problems with it since until I got in this weekend and it was stuck in park. We got online again and found how to fix that. I have been very happy with my car and have no issues with it other than the oil leak which is now fixed. Now, it needs the water pump replaced and the outer front tie ends replaced. I have to admit, after reading all the comments on this site I'm having a hard time deciding if I want to keep it or trade/sell it. We currently have 162,000 miles on the car.

2005 Chrysler Pacifica Touring - I purchased this car from a dealer in early ’07. I have enjoyed it until I was told it needed a new frame .The dealer told me it’s not safe to drive. I still owe $5,000. The work adds up to $6,000 - it’s only worth 4 or $5,000. Chrysler agreed to replace the frame, a $4,500 part, and pay for labor. But I was responsible for a deductible and responsible for all other parts that may need to be replaced. 2 weeks went by as it was winter holiday, I have 2 kids. When I went to take it in, they informed me they backed out of the deal. Now I have a piece of junk that I can’t drive. There are many more stories out there. I purchased my Pacifica new (2006). It was the dealer's wife car and it had only 1,900 miles on it. I loved this car when I first saw it and it ran great during the first few years. I had no problems until these last two years. I have had to buy two sets of front tires in two years. The ABS light has been on for two years and no one can tell me why. My gas runs out very fast and I know I filled up my tank and I don't drive it much. I have replaced the tie rods three times in two years and the motor mounts four times in the last year. The car will start jerking. It has cut off in the middle of a turn twice in 9 months and now, I just had my oil changed three months ago and it started smoking and overheating. I changed the thermostat and checked the oil and there was no oil in the car at all.
Now, I need a water pump and was told I also need a timing belt at the cost of over $800. I was also informed that the transmission is going bad and that I don't need to spend another dollar on this piece of garbage. I was told to junk it and if I could get $500 to take it. I am so freaking mad right now. I just spent $1,200 to get it back on the road and it was in the shop for three months and now this!? I hate Chrysler. I want to start a class action suit against Chrysler.

I purchased a 2007 Touring in April 2008 with only 3,600 miles. I am adamant about my maintenance (at the dealership, of course). While under warranty, the front motor mount was replaced. Great! Not. Within 14 months of replacement, the front and back mounts were bad and in need of repair. Well, of course, the car was out of warranty and beyond the 12-month parts warranty. So in July 2012, I replaced and paid for the front and rear mounts to be repaired and now April 2013 they are in need of repair again. Really Chrysler, I have less than 59K miles on the vehicle.
Also there is the little issue of going to the store, come out, cranking the car, pressing the brake and the gear shifter would not come out of park. So I called the dealership and they tried to tell me about the little pink plastic neutral switch under the chrome plated frame that would allow me to manually shift the car into gear. Let's just say that didn't work. So $468 and $75 tow bill later, you still want me to pay for motor mounts (yet again that is not under warranty). I brought the parts from Chrysler, but used an independent for installation.
From what I see here, they probably won't honor the 12-month warranty on the parts they made money on. Wow! Yeah, right. I'm going to take a page from others here. Get it paid for, I'll sell it and get me a reliable bucket! Chrysler is not your answer when seeking a car!

The motor mounts needed to be replaced twice. The ABS sensor malfunctioned. The air conditioner never blew cold even though it was fully charged (and I live in the desert). We finally had it when the car started losing power when accelerating. Keep in mind, the car only had 65k miles on it. It would jerk and shake and not want to accelerate.
We took it to the dealer and they wanted $400 to replace the EGR, $600 for a new water pump (because it had started leaking coolant) and $1,000 for, you guessed it, new motor mounts. The car had been paid off for over a year so we decided to sell it for half of what it was supposedly worth and get something more reliable. I loved all the features inside the car. We had the touring edition so the leather, DVD, and navigation features were awesome. But it is kind of pointless if you cannot rely on your car. Up until now, I have been very happy with my 2007 Chrysler Pacifica. It was always reliable and the ride was very comfortable. But on 2/14/13, I was driving and the car started to stall. Luckily I was near a gas station and pulled in. When the mechanic opened my hood, smoke started to come out. I was very concerned. I called a local Chrysler dealer and had my car towed to their station. After examining the car, I was told I need a PTO unit part #RL071706AA, but it was on backorder. ETA unknown. Who has ever heard of this in the US? You can't get a part for an American made car. I understand that Chrysler no longer makes the Pacifica, but they should stock the parts.
Forgive me if I'm naive and believe a manufacture should not only sell you a car but also provide service. This is why American cars get a bad rap as being unreliable. Total number of PTO units on backorder is over 475 units. After calling Chrysler corporate and getting the runaway, they are now saying the estimated ship date is March 18, 2013. Estimated! I rely on my car to get to work, earn a living and support my family. Neither Chrysler or the dealer will assist me with a loaner or compensation for a rental. But of course, my car payment is still due for a car I can't even drive.
I am reaching out to anyone else who is waiting for this part to ban with me to get some compensation for our loss. We are stuck without cars, paying for rentals and in some cases, like mine, still making car payments. Something should be done.

My car (2006 Chrysler Pacifica) had been at the dealership for repair now for a total of 4 weeks! I was driving along and all of the lights/dash/radio flashed a few times and then shut off completely. I could still drive and, lucky for me, it was during the day and I could get home. We took it to the dealership and, after them having it for a week, we were told it was an Integrated Power Module and it was going to be $1200 to replace! We brought it home and my husband located the same part in a recent rollover (the car was driven into the salvage yard and all electrical were working) and we got the part for $75. We put that in and still now electrical. We took it back to the dealership after being told it needed to be flash programmed. This was on 11/23/2012.
That did not solve the problem and, to date, they still have it and have not found the problem. They (local dealership) are working directly with Chrysler and they can still not figure it out! I still owe money on it and, to trade it now, I would only get half of the trade-in value. My husband has been unemployed for the past 4 years for months at a time and I feel as though I've been backed into a corner. The research that I've done has led me to believe that this is a problem with Pacificas in general, not just us. Funny thing is, I can't find any resolution in any of the information on the web. Are people just junking these?

Driving along Friday night with my wife and 2 kids (ages 10 and 1), the night before basically more than a foot of snow, we blew a tire at 65mph. No problem, been there before. I went to retrieve the spare and I could not get it out from under the Pacifica - a 2005 model. We called some brutal sort of AAA service with our insurance and a truck driver showed up, "Did you call?" He ended up jacking and breaking the rear sway bars. Meanwhile, in 10 minutes' time of using the hazards, the battery went dead and it's not the battery. The blinkers on one side also failed. We've had many electrical failures with this vehicle and wow, this thing gets poor mileage. Sitting in a death trap, we had to get out and stand in freezing temps as the hazards weren't bright enough for anyone to hardly see and only working on one side.
I can see why my mother-in-law kept her older Suburban and sold my wife this clunker. The only other Pacifica owner I know sold his immediately and said it was easily the worst vehicle he ever had. He has a ton of family members with tons of vehicles and said he's never seen anything like it. I'm such a Chevy guy, I feel such guilt. They aren't perfect either, but this 96,000 mile Pacifica is a lemon beyond lemons. Now I get to take an overpriced rental car back to the town where it all went down. I'm just glad none of us got killed. What's next? My local mechanic said they are junk and complete waste of money. The shell is nice but what's under it is badness.
If I could've got to the spare, most of this wouldn't have been so bad - jacked it down to ground level and couldn't pull it out from under. I'm not big on jacking it and pulling it out of there. I want it to be at the ready by the flat, as we know there is no great jacking spot on a major highway. I want flat off spare on ASAP. The DVD thing is broken. Plenty of repairs to be made. I will pay for this vehicle twice the way it's going. There was my one chance at a Dodge/Chrysler product and I get nothing but debt from it.

Be afraid, be very afraid. I purchased my 2007 Chrysler Pacifica in June 2008 with 32,000 miles on it. I purposely purchased a Certified Used Car from a Chrysler dealer to make sure I would be covered for any problems. What a joke! As I have read most of the 91 reviews, I have had most of the same problems. My motor mounts have been replaced. I have gone through 3, yes 3, brand spanking new fuel pumps since September 2011 and still have issues with the sensors in the pumps burning out because now, the gas tank itself is faulty and must be repaired. I also cannot fill my tank because the gas backs up in the filler hose and splashes all over my hands, clothes and onto the pavement and my shoes.
I did find out through my mechanic that Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep have known about this problem since 2009 but do not consider it a safety issue; therefore, they will not recall 32 models affected by this issue. Well, my car has been sitting at a dealership in Tucson for 2-1/2 weeks while Chrysler "considered" helping me pay for yet another replacement of the pumps and a new tank. After days of unreturned phone calls to update me on the status of their decision, I finally was told today that they will not help with the cost of repairing this piece of crap car because I did not have the initial repairs done at a Chrysler/Dodge dealership but at my local mechanic and they refused to guarantee someone else's work!
Chrysler Customer Care even had the nerve to ask me if I was going to get the repairs done at the Chrysler dealership so they could follow up with me to see if I was satisfied - my reply was "What difference does it make where I get the work done since you do not warranty your brand new parts or any work done on the car?" Because of the faulty gas tank and the constant evap leaks, the brand new fuel pump sensors keep burning out. So I will replace the two fuel pumps again and the tank and see how long it lasts this time.
Unfortunately, Chrysler Corp. does not consider leaking fuel to be a safety issue, but in my book, being covered in gas while trying to fill my tank is a safety issue, an evap leak in my tank which could possibly cause an explosion if I am rear ended, is a safety issue. Having my gas gauge drop from 1/2 a tank to empty in mere seconds, leaving me with no idea how much gas is in my tank, is a safety issue. Constant broken motor mounts are a safety issue and my vehicle stalling in the middle of a turn or while accelerating from a stop is a safety issue.
Obviously, it will take a tragedy or several before Chrysler will do something to make those Pacificas still on the road safe. I plan to go viral with the "Service Bulletins" I have obtained outlining the many problems with these cars and will contact my local news help line and plan to contact all the national news branches of ABC, CBS and NBC to see if possibly they might be interested in letting the public know that these cars are a potential death trap. I will also be posting a sign on my car warning any unknowing owner or possible future purchaser of Chrysler, Dodge or Jeep brands that they do not stand by their products and will not back them.

While I was in Iraq in 2005, my wife's Toyota was broken into and blood was all over the car seat and inside the dash area. The car was totaled so my wife had to purchase a new car. I was able to come home for two weeks to help her purchase a new car. I believed the 2005 Chrysler Pacifica was a very nice looking car with the added space we needed for our family. My wife was very happy with the car but after a couple of years, the problems started creeping in. The gas pedal is sticking and we have taken it in a couple of times and they looked at it and said it was fixed, but it came back and it is very hard to push down on. The back brake light goes out several times a year; we have stopped taking this problem to dealer and just took it to Midas. They are not sure why they are not lasting.
The gas is not lasting very long, my wife doesn't go very far to work, (2 miles) and the car is burning gas very fast. She’d taken it to the dealer a couple of times and they said something was wrong with the sensor which made it burn more gas, they did repairs which cost $400, and they said it would take care of that. Well it did for a little while, but it came back. She went back to dealer and they could not find anything wrong. I was very frustrated with Chrysler at that point. Now the main problem, the car is losing oil somewhere. She’d taken it in to get oil changes and they would say the oil was low, and asked, was it leaking somewhere. It never leaked anywhere. So I started taking it to other places to get oil changes, and they would say the oil was low. The car never burned oil and there was no smoke but it was about one quart and a half low each time, but no oil light would come on either.
Yesterday, the engine started ticking and the fuel was burning real fast again. So I took it to Midas to check it out. Their results were the car was 3 quarts low on oil (without the oil light coming on) and the ticking in the engine was very low on oil. They believe the oil is burning in with the gas which makes the fuel efficiency bad, at the same time you are losing oil. I plan on going to dealer this week to talk about this. My 7 years has expired but the car has less than 50,000 miles, so we will see what they say. I also own a 1995 Jeep Cherokee, and I am ready to purchase a new car. This is something Chrysler should take care of if it is a common problem. I served my country and seen the unthinkable and I believe my service is worth a dealer taking care of their issues on a car that I supported them as a company. If they believe anyone will continue to purchase from them again, they should at least give a good product.

There are multiple issues with this car! I will start with the problems that didn't almost kill myself and my children. The ABS light would stay on and the dealer had no resolution. The car would stall while turning. I replaced the battery five times in four years. While idling in the driveway, the driver's seat reclined by itself, would not respond to the controls and started smoking! The dealer claims they could not diagnose the problem! Lastly, while driving my sons to school, the car was handling poorly and because it was dark and raining, initially I believed that it was wet road conditions.
To maintain control of the car, I was traveling in the slow lane and my speed was approximately 30 mph. Upon approaching the top of a small hill, the steering began to vibrate violently. At this time I believed that the car had a flat tire and that was what had caused the poor handling while driving. I immediately hit the button for my hazard lights and began to try to ease into the emergency lane and attempt to stop the car. It was instantly apparent that the car brakes and power steering were not working, which left me struggling at 30 mph and accelerating because I was now on the downward side of the hill, to try to maintain control of the car! I was able to keep the car from completely veering to the right and ultimately hit a 5-inch concrete curb that is a turn out for the corner gas station.
Upon hitting the curb, the car then sprang to the left back into the highway lane. Miraculously, no other vehicles were traveling in that lane at that moment! Once, we were out of the car, I learned that the car did not have a flat tire but a part of the front end had broken and caused the passenger front tire to collapse into the wheel. Well, it's unbelievable! I believe this to be a defect of the car, in addition to he multitude of other defects of this car!

My husband and I have a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica. At the time of leasing, it had 74,000 in 2010 when we got it. Well to start, we had to replace the engine mounts along with the tire pistons. I think they're called the bars that hold the tires on basically. That was a little over a grand. Now, we're having some kind of an issue with the gear shaft area. There is a little pink release lever, not the one that brings it to shift but the one that gets it from being locked in park. It's on the top left side of the gear box. That was after taking the whole front part apart. So I come to find out it's like not cheap to get that repaired and I've seen not only me but a few people have that same issue. It's some little pink plastic part. Now we're having issues with the front driver's side tire. When accelerating from a stopped position, the left driver's side tire area clunks. And if acceleration is too fast or too hard, it clunks. No idea what that issue is. Still paying on this car and still think there should be more recalls than what there has been for it. Something really, in my option, needs to be done.

Today, I received an email from my Chrysler dealer asking permission to email me with updates regarding important safety information, service reminders and recalls. This email arrived with ironic timing. Less than 2 weeks ago, my 2006 Chrysler Pacifica had to be sold for a pittance because I was never informed about a very important recall by Massey Yardley Chrysler Plymouth. Even after I took the vehicle there for service and called them numerous times regarding the very issue that prompted the recall bulletin, no one ever informed me that there was a Chrysler Bulletin in existence on this matter since 2006. This could have saved my vehicle and saved me a lot of money.
The issues that I'm reading here on this site had been a constant plague on my Pacifica. The disappearing oil and the rough idling had not been explained by Chrysler. The Gas cap light had never been fixed by anyone at Chrysler as well. Although I took it for service several times regarding these mysterious issues and it was less than 1,000 miles after my extended warranty ran out, still the vehicle gave out on me. Unbelievably, it was the people at a local Pep Boys’ shop in Davie, Florida who were conscientious and took the initiative to look up on any possible bulletins or recalls. They were also the ones who informed me of it, not Chrysler.
Unfortunately, it was already too late. The estimate to repair it at the Chrysler dealer has a total value of multiple thousands of dollars. So, I was left with no other option than to scrap it. Today I got an email from the Chrysler (almost 5 years after I bought the vehicle) asking permission to use my email address to inform me of these things. What a joke! Thank goodness, they stopped making the Pacifica. Heed the warning of the others who have written their experiences here. Do not buy Chrysler! It doesn't appear to be burning any oil. Like the others, it sometimes shuts off while driving, too. The front brake rotors warped real bad 3 months after a brake job with new rotors. I have done the front brakes 3 times in 2 years. The rear tires wear excessively on the inner edge, but they say the alignment is okay - no fix for this. The AC clutch fell apart at 65,000. The engine fan comes on when the engine is cold. The AC doesn't get cold, but the system is fully charged.
All of this is not so bad compared to the problems with the motor mounts. At 100,000 miles, I replaced all the motor mounts. They were all shot, except for the rear mount. Now, I have replaced the front mount 3 times in 2 months and both lower control arms, too. **? It's one thing after another with this vehicle and it's not real easy to work on. I purchased a brand new 2007 Chrysler Pacifica at the beginning of 2008. Within a year after experiencing jumping in the car, I was told the motor mounts (front) needed to be replaced. At that time, the car was in warranty, so that was fine. Again in 2011, after the car starts jumping, I'm told the vehicle again needs new motor mounts (front). Thankfully, Chrysler helped with that repair. Now again in 2012, the car is starting to jump and now I'm told front and back motor mounts are needed. In all my years of car ownership, I have never had to have motor mounts replaced on a car, so to get a vehicle where it is a recurring problem is more than a disappointment. I sent Chrysler another email about the problem and I was just told that because the last repair was done by an independent repair shop, they could not guarantee the work or help with the new repairs that are needed. Based on all the complaints, this is definitely a known problem and I'm shocked and appalled that Chrysler is not offering any assistance in the repair.

I purchased a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica with 17.5k miles in June of 2006. I got a notice of recall for the ABS sensor, took it to a certified Chrysler dealer to have it replaced. A year and a half later the light was on again. In February 2012 the rear passenger door window would not respond. Two days later it did respond. In April 2012, the passenger door window would not go up or down and the driver window would not respond at all. I took it to the nearest Pep Boys (PB) who took the panels off and got the driver side window up, but stated that it was highly unusual for both windows to go at the same time.
They stated that there was a short in the motor and that the whole mechanism would have to be replaced. I'm at an awe due to the fact that the back windows are not used as much as the front. PB quoted me a $500.00 price for replacing the parts. I need Chrysler to step up and be responsible for what they know is wrong with their autos. We want to buy American but at what cost. We saw what happened to Toyota and we saw the come back of GM/Chrysler. But they have to stand by the product that they sell. On my next purchase, I will do a lot more research before spending money. Oh yeah, I had new tires put on in late 2010 and went to get them rotated in late 2011 and was told that I had broken stems on two of my wheels. OMG! Come on Chrysler, I know that you are better than that!

I noticed a tapping noise in our 2006 Pacifica with 55,000 miles on the engine. I am the original owner and have had all service and oil changes done at Pro Chrysler Jeep in Thornton, Colorado. The repair is described by a service bulletin and is a known failure due to poor design of the rocker assembly, which causes a loud clatter and tapping of this assembly. The fix is to replace the assembly with re-engineered parts. The cost is just a few dollars short of 1,200 dollars. I frankly disagree that an engine repair of that cost should be needed on a vehicle that has been totally maintained by the dealer. Perhaps, there should have been a recall.
At any rate, I would ask that you review my complaint and provide me a response. I have owned many Chrysler cars and have been impressed in recent years with the progress of the company. This is not a complaint regarding the service or the behavior of the dealership, which are excellent. It is clearly a product issue and who should pay for this unfortunate repair. The vehicle is at the dealership now so I need a fairly quick decision.

After two years of struggling with the fuel gauge on our 2004 Chrysler Pacifica, a common malady cited many times here and elsewhere as it chimed repetitively just above half full and reports an empty tank, I was told it must fail when bringing it in to troubleshoot and most likely the gas tanks would have to be dropped to replace the sending units; both tanks because there is no code to indicate which tank is at fault and the cost is around $800. Prior to my appointment, it took me only five minutes to find the Chrysler update bulletin relating to this fix and it required only a 10 minute software change. I talked the manager into a free change and it has worked fine ever since. They had previously replaced tanks several times for other owners to correct this issue. Repair shops need to pay more attention to service bulletins related to specific trouble issues.

Bought my 2005 Pacifica LT Touring in March '05 with about 30k miles on it. It now has almost 140k miles (happy to say it's lasted this long). It had very few problems and very little maintenance until August 2011, since I took a drive in the mountains and used the Auto Stick feature to control speed downhill instead of burning up breaks. No warranty available here, it's too old. Here are the problems I have been experiencing for the past 5+ months.
* Rough idle or stalling while idling at a stop. Again I hear clicking before it happens. And, the car will lunge forward if I take my foot off the break. I now stop several extra feet away from the car in front of me so I can let the car lunge and keep the engine on.
* Sudden jerk while driving as if the engine shut off and came back on in less than a second. Maybe I can sue Chrysler for whiplash. I have almost hit my head on the steering wheel twice. This has usually happened while shifting between first and second.
*About two weeks ago, my dashboard break light started randomly coming on for a few seconds and chiming. I don't know what this means. I have fortunately never had break issues and it was just in the shop at the beginning of January for the engine issues. They didn't notice any problems with the breaks.
These things have been happening for several years:
*Difficulty shifting to Park, as if there is something impeding the stick from moving all the way forward.*Shifting from park to reverse it's hard to move the stick. I have to yank it (yes I'm holding the button in). It also seems to "slam" the gears into reverse. I don't have this problem when going from park to drive. Only park to reverse.
*Shifting from first to second, especially from a stop, the engine "slams" into gear, jerking the car.
*Head lights and tail light going out faster than any other car I have owned.
*Feeling like the engine is holding back, lacking the power it used to have.
*Auto shop recommended that I have the engine mounts/brackets replaced. Probably from the "slamming" into gear.
*Batteries dying quickly. I have replaced the battery 3 times in 6 years. Is that normal?
September '11, I took it to a shop were I have had several cars serviced over the past 10 year. The code told them that the O2 sensor was bad (I read this in other reviews too). They replaced it, but I returned two additional times, same symptoms, same code. The third time, they installed an O2 sensor from Chrysler, saying that they had a specific sensor. The symptoms returned within minutes of driving away from the shop. Thankfully, I only had to pay for the first O2 sensor. They couldn't figure out what was happening and did not had the symptoms occur while they have been driving it.
The car failed to start on December 26, 2011, while sitting in my garage. There was electrical power, but the engine wouldn't turn over. I tried again on the 27th but there was no power at all. The battery died. On December 28, I had it towed to a different mechanic (thinking the previous place was now full iditos or something). They found that there are a couple things that are not "grounded" which caused the battery to die. With the battery charge too low, it couldn't start the car two days prior. They estimated $1500 to fix this issue. I paid the inspection and battery replacement charges, but don't have the funds for the complete fix.
I noticed Chrysler stop producing the Pacifica prior to 2009? At this point, I'm spending close to $5000 in repairs and maintenance per year. I could be paying that on a new car, so I too am contemplating trading me in. The Mazada CX-9 look promising. I just don't want my teenage son to get into an accident because of these problems. It's just not safe anymore.

I bought my 2007 Chrysler Pacifica about three years ago and have been happy with it for the most part. Until about five months ago when right in the middle of a left turn, it shut off. I took it to an auto shop where they changed a sensor and then about a week later it happened again as I was getting on the freeway. I took it in again and the shop changed another sensor. This time it was good for a month then it happened again when I was taking off from a stop sign. This time the auto shop stated I should take it to the dealer so I did and they changed the wires.
Now, it was good for two months then it happened again. Since the wires and sensors have been changed and $800 later, it has happened four more times. I am either accelerating or turning and it shuts off. No one has been able to fix the problem or knows what it is. The dealer kept it for four days, used all my gas and gave it back to me on empty and the problem not fixed.

They act as though I don't know what I'm talking about. The latest is two motor mounts are broke and must be repaired for $300-500. Also, I recently replaced something in the engine. Every time I would go idle speed, the car would jerk and not want to go. That cost is $400 to fix. Never again will I buy a Chrysler and their customer service sucks.

We bought a 2007 Pacifica in 2011. We loved having a vehicle with a lot of extras; smooth ride, leather seats, etc. We were used to a 8 passenger van (4 kids). Okay, now for the problems, as many others our fuel needle drops to empty once it reaches 1/2 tank and it takes forever to put 10 gal. of gas in the tank. It acts like it is full at 3 gal. We do like the car and don't want to get rid of it, but this problem is very frustrating.
To those with PCM problems, our warranty book states that the PCM is covered for 8 years or 80,000 miles, whichever is first. We are at 74,000 and I am taking my car in to have this checked out next week. I forgot to mention that the car will all of a sudden just shut off. It cranks right back up so far, but I read that this could be a symptom of a bad PCM.

We bought our 06 Pacifica with 25,000 kms on it. It has been a great car, until a few months ago. Just before a road trip to the mountains, the fuel gauge started jumping from 1/2 tank of fuel to empty. This was a minor concern, as we thought we would be alright, as long as we watched how many miles we put on, after filling the tank, so we wouldn't run out. We consistently get 500 kms or more, after a fill. On the trip home, the car stalled as if out of gas. We restarted it after a few minutes, and filled the tank. It took 34 liters to fill it.
This is consistent with half a tank of fuel. Since then, it will not run, once it is under half a tank. It stalls, and will not restart. Two different Chrysler shops have checked on it. There is no recall, no warranty, and they say it will be a trial and error approach to finding the problem, tapping my wallet for $200-$500 a trial. The car has recently started to shimmy slightly in the front end, and after reading this site, with all the front end problems common to these cars, I am going to quit the fight and trade it in for a Chevy. I hope that the trade-in price has not dropped.

I bought a Pacifica in 2007. I loved it. Then after one trip at 26 mpg, the mileage dropped to 17mpg. Of course, no one at the dealership knows why. Then in January ’09, all the gas tank problems started. I spent close to $1500.00 getting it fixed with three separate trips to dealer, in which they swore they had it figured out (this time). In January 2010, the same problem came back again. This time the shop foreman at the dealer advised me they’d take care of it if the new parts warranty of 12 thousand miles hadn’t run out. Come on people.
Gas tanks don’t go bad on cars like this. Chrysler knows these things are stinkers. Yet, they let the consumer take the bath in them. Too bad, we put two or three gallons of gas in every day now. We have to stop and put in gas three times a day if we are planning an out of town trip, just to have enough to get there, same thing to come home.

There are no oil leaks in my garage, driveway, or parking space (I have my own parking space at work). I assumed the last place that performed the oil change didn't put any oil in and so I called them to voice my concerns. While driving to work today (December 13th), while stopping at a red light, I noticed a large plume of smoke coming from the engine.
There are no indicators on my dashboard, the temperature looks fine, appears to be driving fine. I called my husband after arriving at work and he advised me to wait 30 minutes and check my oil. Guess what, there was no oil! I have scheduled an appointment at CarMax in Sanford, FL where I purchased this lemon of a vehicle and printed out this blog along with other numerous complaints about this same problem with Chrysler's. We bought a new Pacifica 2007, and it was fine until about 50,000 miles, where now it is just one problem, after another. First the engine light came on. I had it looked at to find it was the EGR valve in the engine. The mechanic also quoted us on the front connecting rod, as it was causing the front of the car shake at 40 miles an hour. Also, I was quoted the engine mount, as this is also broken. All this after only 4 years? But this is just the beginning.
We got the car back, and just 2 hours later the engine light comes back on, the gas gauge drops to zero, and stays there. Soon after this, we have problems with the tire keeping pressure. After trying to fix it, the valve stem broke clean. I had the valve stem replaced, which is quite expensive, due to it has the low pressure monitoring system inside the stem. It ran okay for 2 weeks. Now, the tire monitoring system says, "have system checked soon". It no loner appears to be reporting low pressure on any of the tires. I'm not sure what to do.
If I have all these items fixed it will cost more than $1,500. What will come next? I have a Subaru and it's about to hit 200,000 miles. I've had very few problems with this car. I feel very dumb for buying a Chrysler product! I will not buy nor recommend anyone to buy another Chysler products, as they are severely sub-standard in terms of quality.

They said it was the battery but it was new as I just changed it and it still works. All anyone can say is that everything is working, but yet my car likes to start only when it wants to and drain the battery.
I also had a problem with the transmission and when I go to stop sometimes, the car pulls forward and does not want to stop. If I hit the brake hard, it feels like it does not catch. This car would be great if it didn't have all these problems. That must be why they stopped making them.

After about 6 months or so, I noticed the fuel gauge stopped working. I ran out of gas constantly never knowing if I had gas or not. I had to resort to guessing my gas mileage and figuring how many miles I could drive. I have 3 small children and running out of gas was very dangerous, walking to the nearest gas station. In addition to that, at 60,000 miles (2-1/2 years later), the car would burn at least 2 - 3 quarts of oil a week. I took it to three different mechanics and they all said the same thing, I need a new engine. What I don't understand is how can any 5-year old car with only 60,000 miles on it possibly need an engine? I made sure I kept up with all of the preventative maintenance on the car, but that didn't seem to make a difference. I will never purchase another Chrysler product.
I now have to spend $3,000.00 on a car that I still owe $14,000.00 on. Not to mention I have to buy another car for cash to get myself to work and back, and my children to school and back. Chrysler should be responsible for these problems.

But in the last 2 years, the car has become a money pit for an average middle class family like mine. It started with motor mounts needing to be replaced due to clunking noise. The next problem that arose was tie rod on the front, ended up needing to be replaced along with 2 new tires due to the tie rod being bad. It had consistent tire trouble issues. And just this week, I had to replace the PCM computer that operates the car 1000k.
I took it to my mechanic. They had it for 7 days and they couldn’t fix the problem. I had to take it to the dealership to get this problem fixed. It was costing me almost 1000 dollars. All in all, this car has cost me 2500 bucks. That is, for a family, hard to come by when the problem arise. To top this off, when I checked to see about recalls for the vehicles, I found a recall for the same PCM part. But when I inquired about this recall at the dealership, they stated that my car was not covered under this recall. But the recall is for my year vehicle (2005). I just completely baffled that a car with 51k miles should have the problems that this vehicle has. They now need them replaced for the third time! The second time I replaced them, I bought aftermarket (not Mopar) parts. They lasted 4 days. Something is wrong with the way the motor is shifting to cause them to continue to brake. The power steering stalls sometimes while driving and loses steering and brakes. It has done this several times in the rain. It squeals very loud if you turn the steering to sharp.
It also has oil consumption problems. I am losing one to two quarts a month. It is not leaking out on the ground. I don't know where it is going. I have never received any notification of recalls. They said there is 'nothing wrong with your vehicle' but they replaced my lumbar support for the driver's seat (thanks so much for nothing). Two months later, the left strut now popped out, hit the hood and the car veered to the left on the highway! I dropped it off the dealership and they replaced the strut, bushings, etc.
The same noise was still there and they re-tightened the bushings. I went back a week later and they replaced the bushings. A new noise was noticed and I took it back; and they re-tightened the control arms. There was the same noise and I went back a week later, and now they replaced the control arms. A different noise emerged and this time. The service director kicked me out of his dealership just because I kept coming for the same problem (I have proof of all the services done by this dealer). I called Chrysler Corporation and they told me to take it to another dealer; and that's all they can do. I waited for a while since I had an exam, and they closed my case without telling me. They re-opened my case and the new service manager kept telling me she would take care of me only to find out that she never called the new dealership I go to. This is extremely frustrating and very disappointing from Chrysler. Now, the new dealership said I need new tie rods and engine mounts. I don't know what to do anymore.

On October 27, 2009, I purchased a Chrysler Pacifica from DriveTime dealership. I was extremely satisfied with my truck. Nine months after the purchase, my abs light went on every time I would press on brakes. I did my research and it turns out that this is an ongoing problem with the vehicle so I continued to drive it without being fixed. Then, on May 1, 2011, I went to turn the truck and the lever was stuck on park. I did my research and it turns out that this is also an ongoing problem with the vehicle--the transmission gear shift interlock spring.
I had to have my vehicle towed at my own expense and after reading all these posts, I am horrified. My car is sitting in front of my house for twenty four hours now. So far, I managed to call the Chrysler recall assistance and the guy said that there was no recall on my vehicle. Next, I will contact Chrysler dealer and Chrysler corporate. I will keep you all informed as to what the out come is. The reason why I am writing this post is if you are searching for a truck, don't look this way, my friend, unless you're a mechanic or have a lifetime warranty. Take care and be safe.

The similarities between the posted consumer experiences and our own experience with this Chrysler product gave us goose bumps. Meanwhile, Chrysler Corporation's unresponsiveness is astonishing if not disturbing. Our 2005 model with more than 70,000 miles recently broke down after a 1-hour drive with smoke and coolant flowing from under the hood. We had it towed to the nearest dealership that diagnosed an engine mount with ‘too much give’ that pulled the hose away from the radiator hence the fluid loss, etcetera.
In consequence, the hose and thermostat needs replacement. It all made sense. In the years and months leading up to this event, the engine would often buckle when the transmission switches gear or when coming to a stop. Also, we've had 3 sets of tie-rods or other steering component changed and the knocking in the front end has never gone away.
In spite of Chrysler Corporation, I'm going to let them know about it. I'm also going to park the Pacifica and use our 2nd vehicle since my wife no longer feels safe with the kids in it. There's a 90% chance that this longtime Chrysler customer will trade in his last Chrysler product within the next few weeks. Based on all the posted parallel experiences, this vehicle seems to be on the verge of something very bad as there's an increasing sense of danger from a safety and financial standpoint.

The steering was a little wobbly and when I would brake, it would make a thumping noise. I always changed the oil every 3000-3500 miles and get the fluids filled/changed as needed. I was driving it last night and it started smoking and the oil gauge shot up.
I pulled over and have it towed. After looking at it the mechanic says some tube came loose and doesn't know why, but that I need a new engine. I'm a single mom with three kids and a full time student. Needless to say, I don't have the money nor time to get a new car. I just paid it off a few months ago and was hoping to keep the Pacifica for a few more years. After reading the other comments I'm wondering if I have any recourse. Obviously I'm not the only person that has been having issues. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

My Chrysler Pacifica 2004 (90,500 miles) was taken in for a state inspection. The sub-frame (engine structural mount) was rotten (rusting) so bad that I could put three fingers through it. The steel broke off to a light touch. The tie-rods were also worn with excessive play. I called Chrysler corporate customer relations and asked humbly about assistance. After an inspection, they turned me down for any assistance claiming it was beyond a 90,000-mile warranty. Plus, it was on its second owner. Other dealerships said, “Shame on Chrysler! No sub frame should rot like that and I was surprised there was no factory recall.” Chrysler has lost my business.

I own a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica and have been dealing with fuel problems for over 2 years now! It first started with the gas gauge going from half a tank to empty in seconds, which I had assumed was more then likely a computer problem. I did make the mistake of not researching it on the internet, which would have told me that it is a chronic problem with the Pacifica. Then within months, I broke down on the side of the road out of fuel when I had half a tank of gas! I finally had to get the transfer pumps in the fuel tank replaced.
I am a single mom and getting this done really strained us financially for a while. After that was done the fuel gauge was still messing up and now it has come to where at a half of a tank I am getting stranded again!! I have two small boys and live in a small town. I am constantly on the highway going somewhere and having to stay on the shoulder with them in the car waiting for a tow truck to bring me gas puts me in tears every time. Why is there not a recall on these tanks? Now I have a code on the check engine light that says that the fuel level sensor is bad. I went to Chrysler to get a quote on replacing it and it is $1000 on top of two other problems I am having with the car.
I have to admit I was so excited getting the Pacifica knowing that my children were going to be safe. But there is nothing safe with running out of gas on the highway and knowing there is half a tank of gas. I am now going to start looking to trade it. I am done messing with this car and it draining my finances! Once again the tanks in Pacificas have to be recalled! Chrysler has to know of this problem and it saddens me to think that they are ignoring it. They have a flaw in their design and I have pay for it.

I own a 2007 Chrysler Pacifica. While driving on a newly paved, straight roadway at 40mph, the front passenger wheel folder under the vehicle, laying like a donut under the front passenger seat. The steering knuckle, cv joint, break lines, etc., completely snapped and were torn off. The vehicle veered quickly to the right side and scraped along the guardrail until coming to a stop.
Chrysler and Allstate sent a "third-party" inspector to see the car. They both viewed the car together and stated it did not look like manufacturer defect. Why the wheel and all its attached steel supports would, cables, etc., break? Of course, Allstate doesn't want to battle Chrysler and Chrysler isn't going to own up - thankfully no one was injured (my daughter was in the car with me). However, my attorney told me that if someone were injured it may have gotten more attention and therefore it is easier just to pay out the claim by either repairing the car or totaling it.
The damage is quite extensive, totaling almost $12,000 - This happened on a clear, dry day at 9:30 in the morning - I am disgusted and frightened and don't ever want to put my family or friends in that vehicle again. Just two days before we were on a major high-speed roadway and the consequences could have been disastrous. How do they justify a galvanized aluminum part welded to a steel part in a major support bearing area of the vehicle? If they repair the vehicle even with $12,000 plus in damages - it will never be the same. I will lose money by trading it in because I will not drive this vehicle again - if they total the car and pay me the retail value for the vehicle - I also lose money. The stress of driving this car again, if it is repaired, scares me to death - what if it happens to the other side?

I have a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica with 94,000 miles. It has been a great car. While driving home from vacation, we stopped to get gas, and a few minutes after we restarted the car, the oil light popped on and the engine started chattering like it had no oil. We had it towed, and the shop discovered the cam inside the engine is destroyed. My car needs a whole new engine! With all the oil consumption issues and everything, there is no doubt in my mind that this engine design is faulty.

I had been having some trouble starting my 2004 Chrysler Pacifica. As I was trying to start the car, the engine caught on fire. The fire started on the passenger side closest to the front bumper. My two small children were with me. We put the fire out with an extinguisher, and no one was hurt. We called the Prince George's Fire Dept (MD), and they came out as well. I know there have been reports of the 2007 models catching fire, but I am not sure of the 2004.
The car is in review with the insurance company now. No one was hurt, but it was pretty scary, considering I had kids with me and the fire was in the engine near the fuel.

Less than a week following an unpleasant service experience at All-Star. I visited another retailer for a tire repair. When my 2004 Pacifica was hoisted for the repair, the technician and manager came to get me and showed me substantial rust, holes and deterioration in the vehicle subframe which they conveyed represented a significant safety hazard. They recommended I contact Chrysler as they assumed I must have missed a recall given this inordinate condition in my vehicle. When I looked online, there were clearly many instances of this same problem in the US and Canada and mention of an alleged "silent recall" in some of the articles.
I was and am still shocked at the negligence Chrysler technicians and managers who undoubtedly were aware of this damage and never brought this concern to my attention during the warranty or since its expiration on the many occasions my vehicle continued to be serviced by Chrysler shops. I am aware vehicles take wear and tear and do not expect "normal" issues to be the responsibility of the company, but an instance such as this is not an anomaly, but a defect. How will the Chrysler Corporation address this negligence and current critical repair need, given the defect in manufacturing that is responsible?

I bought a 2007 Chrysler Pacifica 4.0 Touring Edition wagon. I have already replaced the motor mounts on the vehicle as well as the gas tank has a major problem. It started a few months ago, when I went to fuel the car, gas spews back out of the tank as if under pressure. It takes 30 minutes to slowly trickle in 10 gallons of gas, which is the most I can put in the tank at any time. Even though it is a 20 gallon tank, anything more than that runs back out on the ground. I have had the car in the repair shop three times to the tune of approximate $350.00 and they can not seem to find out what it wrong with it.
Apparently, there is a "code" on my care that states that Chrysler suggests replacing the gas tank. When I put gas in the car, it reads full 400 miles to empty regardless of the amount of gas I put in and 100 or so miles later, I have low fuel. There is no way to know when I am going to run out. Apparently, they know there is a problem with the gas tank, but are unwilling to correct it. They also know that there is a problem with the motor mounts and are also unwilling to fix that problem as well. This car has been nothing but problems for me and my family.

I'm very happy I got my recall in the mail today. I had taken my car in the shop over the last 6 months flushing my money down the drain gas which was 3 miles to the gallon. I was getting horrible headaches all the time I drove this car around during my entire pregnancy. My doctors had no idea what was causing the headaches. I was taking my car and paying money every time the engine lite came on. I had oil changes once a month; no mechanic had answers, they just charged me more. My car never ran good after 25K when I got the recall about my car 4.0 model was exceeding the California requirements; it did not control the nitrogen oxides. After driving it for five years, I just now get a letter. What's wrong with these people?
Health wise, I don't know what damage the nitrogen oxides can do to a pregnant woman or a newborn baby. I'll look into that. I make $1,000 a month and pay my Chrysler car payment of $447. The last year I had gone over $6,000 in credit card charges all because I needed gas all the time or the engine light would come on again so back to a tune up place we go. I have been to Pep Boys, Nissan, Honda, Jiffy Lube tune up masters. I tried them all. I went crazy crying some nights because my car plus my gas and insurance was making me broke.
I have two babies. I'm a single mom. I kept telling the mechanics I know something is wrong. "No, ma'am. it's just your computer. We reset the light for you, changed your oil, yada, yada. I was 100% right, thank God. This recall came but I hope it wasn't causing those headaches because I had a fetus in my body the entire time. I drove this car and now he's almost 1 so the first year of life, I might have been causing him a major risk and serious completions. I don't want to think about the damages to be honest with you. I'm very upset.

In 2005, we bought a used 2004 Pacifica with about 17,000 miles on it. I started having problems with the fuel pumps. The gauge would go from half full to empty and within a few miles, the car would shut off-out of gas. There are dual fuel pumps for the dual fuel tanks. When the first tank was empty, the gauge went to empty from half full, which wouldn't have been all that bad but it would take 10-15 minutes to get maybe 5 gallons in. To make a long story short, this happened to us four times in a couple years. We went to trade and I really like the Pacifica and they had a good deal on a new 2007, and we were told that they had changed the fuel system and wouldn't have that problem. Wrong! There are still 2 fuel pumps/tanks and we have had them replaced at around 16,000 miles and about 1 and 1/2 weeks ago at about 31,000 miles and will be taking it back in the next couple days for the 3rd set of fuel pumps. This last one lasting maybe 200-250 miles. Has anyone else had this problem?
It is all under warranty but is really a pain to have to take it to the dealer, get a rental car, get the car back and not know when it will happen again; not to mention 150-mile round trip each time. The service guys at the dealer are awesome and I realize it is not their fault and tell them that, but they try their hardest to fix the problem once and for all. They cannot believe that this is happening to us again with buying a new 2007. They are as frustrated as I am. I would like to talk to someone at Chrysler but since they went bankrupt, that probably won't happen. Does the Lemon Law apply here ?
