Frustrated and disappointed owner of a 2010 Buick Enclave CXL with 86,000.00 miles. I cannot begin to describe how awful my experience with Buick and this Enclave has been. I've owned this vehicle for 3 years bought it used at 30,000 miles with full maintenance records including tune ups and oil changes. Since I've had the vehicle I have experienced the following: I have been left stranded on the freeway 4 times with 3 small children ranging from ages 3 months of age to 5 years of age with the same recurring issue Reduced engine power. I kid you not, the vehicle begins to fail locks up and then shuts off.
I can't begin to describe how incredibly dangerous and frightful that experience is of having your vehicle shut off on you while traveling at 50-70 miles an hour with small children in the vehicle. And to make matters worse it's out of warranty so I have paid over 13,000.00 in repairs alone. At least once a year our beloved family car shuts off and leaves us stranded in an incredibly dangerous situation and all Buick can say is "we are sorry, you have had such a negative experience with this vehicle. Maybe it's just a bad batch, let's offer you a newer model."
As delightful as that sounds it's not something I cant afford to do when I have paid you in full for a vehicle that doesn't work. And these vehicles are not cheap. Yes it's a beautiful vehicle and has great features such as on star, blue tooth, heated leather seats, full 3rd row, towing capabilities, wood trim and all the other bells and whistles but I've spent more money than any consumer needs to pay for a newer vehicle with low mileage. Since May of 2013 I've had the following issues, power steering failure, reduced engine power (yearly occurrence), replacing a water pump twice, fuel injectors twice and transmission issues and those AC failing on one side of the vehicle.
My biggest concerns are Safety and Reliability, your vehicles are not safe. I am proof of that and I have all the towing documents and dealership repair receipts to prove it. When you hear "Oh my goodness, you are all lucky to be alive" from your own Buick service technicians and other customers when explaining to them why your car is not working and why you were walking in from a ride on a small and uncomfortable tow truck with 3, yes 3 small children in car seats... you might just want to reach out to your customer and offer them a replacement or reimbursement.
This is not how I would handle my business, this is not the type of poor service or experience any customer should endure, especially a client who has been loyal and understanding and paid their vehicle on full. I hope this helps other very frustrated consumers like myself who do not plan on remaining silent while companies like Buick continue to make money and make mistakes that might one day cost us our lives.

I drove to the grocery store this morning. All of 2 miles. Then to the drug store. Total round trip, 4 miles. I came home, put the car in the garage. I had to go into the garage to put something away and the fan was running from the engine. I thought that was strange as the car wasn't even hot. It shut off so I thought it was ok. About 5 minutes later, I went back into the garage and once again the fan started again! I opened the car door and my inside fan was blowing at high speed. I came in the house, got my car keys and locked the car. Now it isn't turning on. It concerns me as I know most cars a fan will run after you have turned it off but never have I seen a car's fan turn back on. Anyone have this issue?

I went to service my car for the ABS. They ran a diagnostic and told me it was my left front hub. The mechanic never checked it. I took it to a mechanic and ordered the front left part. Buick wanted to charge 400, my mechanic charged 280. They installed the part, but ABS was still on. I took it back and they checked my car and found out that it was the left rear hub that was completely damaged. I showed them the estimate from Buick and they told me to go there and ask for a reimbursement for a false diagnostic. They started throwing out words like speculate and can't confirm. I spoke to the General Manager and he was a complete sarcastic ** with a snooze you loose attitude. What the hell. Did I pay them for inaccurate information and a waste of my time?

Anyone having rodent/mice problems? Well, apparently the auto industry in attempt to go "green" has put SOY in their wiring, making your wiring very attractive to mice. My vehicle is currently in shop being repaired, although I have comprehensive coverage and the damage is covered, however, I have to the $500 deductible. Does anyone know who I take up the $500 deductible with, I don't feel I should have to pay this whatsoever. I've read several class action lawsuits being taken against Honda right now for the same reason, I have not seen anything for Buick/GM as of yet. Any advice would be great, thanks in advance!

Just leased a 2016 Buick Encore, base with interlink radio, non-touchscreen display. Can't see out back due to glare, fog or general distortion. This could be dangerous! I went to my Buick dealer, he took out another 2016 Encore to compare the camera. Same effect, blurry on second Encore. Appears problem is in camera lens. I tried adjusting the contrast, dark, light on the dash display switch. No effect except darker, blurry. Dealer had no remedy. I just traded in a 2013 GMC Terrain, and received a recall notice from GMC concerning the backup camera with interlink radio. There is a new software patch for the terrain. Perhaps there is a new software for the Buick Encore??? Any advice, fix??

Transmission issues with 2008 Buick Enclave. Called customer service and was advised to have vehicle diagnosed at customer's cost. Dealership stated transmission was damaged due to faulty wave plate. Call customer service back and specialist advised me that I was in the time period but over the miles that they would not warrant their product. Dealership states that replacing transmission would be $4500 dollars. Car was maintenance property but faulty wave plate caused damaged and Buick will not assist with repair bill. Will not purchase another Buick vehicle in the future. Lost loyal customer forever!!!

Noise sounds like air intake is restricted causing a "whistling"noise to transmit into the passenger compartment. Told by one dealership that it is the alternator just doing what it's supposed to do. The second dealership used a stethoscope to listen to the alternator. The noise was not coming from the alternator but "could be coming from the tensioner pulley or the serpentine belt". Tested another new (2015 LaCrosse) and found the same noise. Told I have to "live with it". Is this what Buick quiet tuning is? My 2010 LaCrosse did not have that noise. Also no response from Buick!

2014 Buick Regal GS - First, the good about the car. It has a really nice ride and the 4 cyl turbo has plenty of power, and I come from owning vehicles with over 400 horsepower (only because I want a vehicle to do what I want it to do when I need it to do it). The Regal is nimble, agile, and comfortable even on long drives. Sound system is ok (underpowered) and I have the premium bose system (actually every option available).
The bad… After about 6 months, the dash started squeaking (for lack of a better term) and rattling and I found that the trim ring around the instrument cluster is seemingly just pressed in, therefore the two plastic pieces hit each other at certain vibration thresholds. Also the center console below the radio and controls is pressed in, probably using some kind of sticky tape that is not very sticky, and it squeaks, ANNOYINGLY.
The Gracenote audio software seems to take everything available in the usb, sd card, and smartphone audio inventory and initializes it each and every startup because if you play music from say the phone, then get out of the car, say to shop for a few, then get back in, it can't remember where you were at. So many pain in the ** things with the implementation of the interface that I can't believe it was actually released to the public. Seems like it was developed in a vacuum, meaning without any input from people that use media devices. A child could have tested these things. I also added about 150 lbs of batting in different areas of the car (hollow spots). You'd be amazed at what GM calls "soundproofing" or "sound dampening".
The Regal, while it looks nice and there are several other nice things I could say about it, such as whoever designed the exterior and spec'd the wheels and tires as well as the ground clearance in the front (so you don't rip off very expensive plastic underneath the car when parking) did a good job, also the steering wheel is a great improvement over the 2013… Anyway, one of my real concerns with quite a few cars is that it is 2015 and we still have vehicles that have chrome in either the WRONG place, or angled poorly and at certain times of the day, practically blind anyone in the front seats. This isn't just for short periods of time, say when the sun is directly overhead, or at exactly 6pm pst in the bay area California, no, this is most of the day. It was so bad I removed mine, shift trim and painted it.
Follow up pics for my review showing the "materials" used to dampen sound in the Regal cabin. Just a small example, there are several others. Look at the little accordion style batting used in what is a very large space inside the rear trunk covers.

I picked a used 2013 Verano Turbo with 6-speed manual transmission. What delight to drive and has been worry free for 20,000 miles I've owned. I set the cruise control at 70 mph and the little Turbo sees 37 mpg all day long. It is super quiet and handles like a dream. I like the Verano so I leased a Buick Encore for two years. When the short 20,000 mile lease was up I was sad to see "squirt" be returned. Again another flawless Buick I have owned and a joy to drive.

I purchased a 2011 Buick Enclave with 35,000 miles on it a year and a half ago. First 3 months I had it the transmission went and needed new brakes. It's been in dealership 2 more times with a squeaking noise that steering wheel makes. Both times I was told it was fine. Now it's back at the dealership because it suddenly wouldn't start. When I finally got it started a message appeared stating that engine only has half power. Not to mention that as you are slowing down from a speed of about 50 mph the front end feels like it is skipping. Guess I will be told that is nothing either. Each time I am without my vehicle for days. Guess I should have kept my Honda Pilot.

2011 Buick Regal Turbo - I love, love my car! However, 2 weeks after purchase it was in the dealership with noise issues. My timing belt was replaced at 34k miles! Then my front and rear bumpers were peeling. Those got repainted, took 2 weeks at the dealership. Silver trim around both outside windows were oxidizing! Replaced. Then the headliner started sagging in the middle of sunroof. Couldn't fix, so headliner was replaced. I'm not complaining since this was all covered under warranty, I'm just tired if dealing with it! I want to enjoy my car. Now there is a chirping noise when my a/c is on and I put it in reverse and accelerate. Dealership doesn't know. They thought it was the alternator, and replaced it! Very frustrated but still love my car.

Oct. 27, 2014 - agreed to buy a 2014 Buick LaCrosse, model Leather using a trade-in low mileage 2004 Buick LaSabre Limited. The sales person provided the normal sales pitch, but neglected to tell us the car he was selling to us have been used as a loaner to folks who brought their car into the dealership for service (it had 5,654 miles on it). By the time we found this out, we had already made up our minds, the car we just took out for a test drive was the one we wanted. This was just before the dealership was to lock up for the Labor Day weekend, and we were supposed to come back the day after Labor Day and complete the transaction, which we did.
Day after Labor Day - after completing the paper work to buy the car, we left with the new car. After about a week or two of use, we felt the car rode very rough, and more like a truck than a car. Unfortunately, we had to leave town until after the Christmas Holiday season, so we let the situation go until after the first of the year. Sometime in January 2015, I started writing emails directly to GM. GM responded first by having me take the car in for a check-up to be sure it didn't have a problem, which it did not in their eyes. It then instructed the dealer to contact me to see what could be done.
Feb. 25, 2015 - the dealership did ask us to come in, and I met with the sales manager who turned us over to the sales person who sold us the initial car. Since I had been told they would not change the tires, I asked what it would cost to give them the car back in turn for buying the same car, but move up one year and one model (i.e. buy a 2015 Buick LaCrosse model Premium) with a better suspension system. The sales person took what seemed to be an hour, and came back with a figure of $14,141.31 in addition to the $37,050 we had already paid (including my trade-in). To that we said "no way" and left the dealership.
Feeling there was no way we could receive any kind of justification from the dealership, we left. This was 2/25/2015, and we stopped trying to get them to do something ever since. The car is a nice car, but it still rides rough! Even with a tire reduction in air pressure! We just flat-out gave up! Hereafter, after owning a Buick over 20 years and thinking very highly of it, I doubt seriously if I will ever buy another or even a GM car in the future!

I have a 2012 Lacrosse that has just over 29K Miles on it. Transmission jerks hard as I am at normal speed cruising. I have duplicated for a Dealer and told that it is "Normal" for my transmission to jerk. These problems started around 2000 miles on the car, I bought it brand new with only 41 miles on it. I have driven 2 other 2012 Lacrosses and no jerk, a 2013, a 2014 and just today a 2015 and no jerk. It is the car and this is just the start of problems. I just had a mechanic from a totally independent shop to ride in my car tonight and he felt the jerking. He feels that there are transmission problems and I was told by several mechanics that a jerk that can be felt so strongly is not normal. I will never own another GM vehicle in all my days. On April 9, 2015 I was in a frontal impact accident. After it hit the front my vehicle then rolled over landing on the passenger's side. I did have my seatbelt on, however, my head still hit the steering wheel. The windshield was heavily damaged going into the car on the driver's side. I had to be taken to the hospital via EMS where I got 8 stitches to my left arm, and countless tests. I still have to go to physical therapy for my right shoulder. The vehicle had to be towed via flatbed truck. Windshield and airbag a huge safety concern. I have had two GM vehicles, one an 07 Malibu and this 06 Buick Rendezvous. The Malibu was part of a massive recall and I feel like GM needs to take a further look into the quality of vehicles they are selling, while placing thousands of people in harm's way.

I just love my new car and I had many GM vehicles in the past and will continue to purchase GM products in the future. I love the design inside and out. GM has a best-seller here with the Buick Verano. I just can't get over that they should have thought of this car earlier. Keep up the great work GM.

I have a 2008 Buick Enclave, which I thought was the perfect mid-size SUV for my 3 children and I. Needing more space, I traded in a more reliable vehicle in order to purchase it. However, my vehicle has caused me nothing but grief and $$$. Today 6/2/15 I took it to the dealer again at Fremont Buick because my air conditioner stopped working about 3 weeks ago (I live in the place with the drought, California). I first reported hearing a hissing noise last December and was told that nothing was wrong, but they did say that I needed to replace my rack & pinion and that the right axle was leaking. I spent $1,000.00 on that repair.
Come March, before a road trip to Southern CA from Northern CA, I took my vehicle in again to ensure that all was well (it would feel like the car wanted to cut off at random times and the hissing noise still was happening). I was told again that the boot axle was leaking and also to replace the same rack and pinion. Umm, I just had that repaired 3 months ago?! They assured me that it was under warranty and fixed it again, now for free claiming that it must have been a defective part sent. They also told me that my timing cover needed to be replaced and was leaking. I did not elect to have that work done and didn't even understand what that meant since they said I could indeed drive to San Diego fine.
Now for today's repairs needed: Timing cover plus water pump (leaking) $3,200.00, rear evaporator (leaking) $1,140.00 and power steering rack $2,079.00 for a grand total of $6,419.00. I still owe about $12,000 on the car! I just sat at work fighting back the tears... What a waste of money? In addition, I kept all services/maintenance up to date and none of this is my fault. It's not even normal wear and tear on models from the last decade according to an outside mechanic. I did purchase my car certified pre-owned from the Chevrolet GM dealership. So I decide to google for recalls... none! Google for complaints/issues with Buick Enclave and I see that tons of owners are having the same 3 issues that I am having with my vehicle. I'm sure that GM is aware but for us we all simply have lemons.
I work hard for my money and am a divorced mother of 3... THIS IS UNFAIR!!! SOMEONE HELP ME. I can't afford $7,000.00 in repairs for a faulty design that is not my own fault. I called GM and was transferred to the rudest senior advisor who I then ended up complaining on to a different supervisor. Guess the rep that I was transferred to is beyond annoyed with us whining customers calling daily with our gripes about safety & expensive repairs. PLEASE HELP A.S.A.P. Today I paid $160.00 which was the fee for them to tell me what was wrong. As an adult woman, standing there paying at the cashier holding my three-year-old daughter's hand, tears began to fall from my eyes. These are truly widespread issues and GM is doing nothing about it. In addition, there has been no media coverage whatsoever. They have to be exposed, for these vehicles are leaving entire families unsafe!

I was forced to purchase a new to me vehicle after my 1989 Chevy CK1500 pickup truck with 750,000 miles on it was totaled when a kid ran a stop sign. On 2-21-19, I purchased a 1991 Buick Park Avenue Ultra from a farmer that parked it outside on gravel. It had 116,000 miles on it. I paid $2350.00. I had some work done by my local garage that I have been doing business with since 1988. It needed a new gas tank, shocks and a few other items. I have it serviced regularly. Due to being parked on gravel, rust has taken over the undercarriage. I need to replace the car not because of mechanical issues, but because it is rusting away. I like this car so much that I am seeking another one.
**, my mechanic told me to stick with the 3600 Series motor and do get a turbocharged one. He said that you have to change the oil in the turbo unit. I agreed. I no longer have the need for speed. I'm 67, I want comfort. This car never failed me. I use to drive 100 miles a day back and forth to work. It got 30mpg on the highway and 20-22 in the city. I drove mostly on the highway. The car took me to Indiana twice, Tennessee twice without missing a beat. I know how to parallel park. I can turn on and off my headlights and wipers. The problems I see here are people want all the bells and whistles. Well, there is a price to pay for all that.

Never do anything like this, but if it saves someone going through the pain my family has, it is worth it. DO NOT PURCHASE A BUICK ENCLAVE. Popping and rattling in the front end. Took it in and paid to have it fixed. Caused uneven wear on tires and had to replace those (and 17" tires aren't cheap). Since then, have had front end done 4X!!!
Finally a mechanic friend of the family told me to Google (Buick Enclave front end issues) and could not believe what I found. Evidently there are known issues that Buick has decided NOT to stand behind. Several of the complaints said that their repairs usually lasted 3k-5k miles and then came right back (at $1k-$2.5k a pop). Why do I still have it you ask? Do not buy Buick or lease because they are not worth anything once you drive it off of the lot!!!!
We went to four dealerships and they all pretty much said "your car is not worth anything compared to what you owe." One salesman said "whatever you do, do not purchase this car at the end of your lease." Not that he had to tell me that one... I already wanted to get out of the lease. My mother bought this 2008 Buick Enclave CXL with every possible option for $44,000. 75-year-old female driver only, always maintained, never abused. At 45K miles, she gave the car to me. 45-year-old male, perfect driving record, & preventative maintenance freak. At 48K miles, the transmission began slipping at various times & in various gears. Took it straight to dealer, the warranty was expired 6 months ago due to time, not mileage. The dealer charged me $212 to tell me the tranny was slipping (knew that). Said it would cost me $1,200 just to drop it & diagnose. Suggested I go with a GM rebuilt for $4,800. They said Buick would not help me with repairs or discount the parts, even with only 48K miles. I took it a couple blocks down the road for a $3,000 rebuilt tranny with a 1-year warranty.
The bottom line is this was my last try with an American car. I have owned 10 vehicles: 4 Toyotas, 1 Nissan, 3 GM, and 2 Dodge. I still have 1 of the Toyotas with 94K miles & never a problem. I have never gotten to 75K on any of the American cars without major tranny or engine trouble. The opposite with the foreign brands, never any major trouble. Call it luck, I call it obvious & have finally learned my lesson. I will stay with Toyota for life.

GM should take responsibility for this faulty part and issue a recall. After the local dealership quoted me the price, I call GM corporate to complain. There are thousands of complaints on the 2008/2009 Enclave on several blogs & forums. I purchased a 2011 Buick Regal CXL literally 73 days ago. It only had 56,000 miles and came with power train warranty. After acceleration issues on the highway I have been informed that I should also have a manufacturer's warranty on the vehicle. It spent about a week in the service department at the dealership. I purchased it at for a cosmetic piece, they agreed to fix when I purchased it. During that time they were supposed to inspect my current problem which was that the check engine light came on while on the highway and I could not fully accelerate. Their conclusion was that they could find nothing wrong. So about 24 hours later on my trip back on the highway, the check engine light went back on again. Not only could I not fully accelerate, I could not get the vehicle to go into gear at all. The gear shift would blink when I put it into drive but would not go.
I had to get towed to the dealership which I had to pay $100.00 for. And now after getting my vehicle back yesterday afternoon (after two weeks) and being told it was a system update that needed to be done and all was well, I found myself once again on the highway with a check engine light and not able to fully accelerate. I was able to coast home obviously under the speed limit but I have called the dealership where I bought the vehicle and tried two different 800 numbers that I have and cannot find anyone jumping out of their seats to try and fix my car. Needless to say I am displeased and concerned. I just want my vehicle running correctly and safely and want to feel good about this purchase. And I would love some assistance in making this happen!!!

I purchased a used 2006 Buick Lacrosse in August 2014. It had just under 32,000 miles on it. With so few miles on it I thought it would be like driving a new car. I took it for a very short test drive and bought it. What a mistake. All the lights on the dash go dim, off and on all the time. Also, this week in the space around the odometer I get the message "ice". Also, with the heater and air conditioner, it pauses if you change the settings at all. I've never had this happen with any car I've ever owned. The comfort level of this Buick is terrible. When you go over a manhole cover, brick road, railroad track, or uneven pavement, you feel every little bump. I also don't like the fact that the windows are so much smaller than all my previous Buicks. If I were to ever need to crawl out of one it would be impossible as they sit much higher up than in the other Buicks I've owned.
When I am merging onto the highway I really have to punch the gas to get up to speed. With my Park Avenue and LeSabre I could just push a little harder on the gas and be at speed very quickly. The gas mileage on this car is also terrible. I'm lucky to get 20 to 21 mpg in town and 26 to 27 on the highway. With the Park Avenue I got 26 to 28 in town and 38 on the highway. If you have any walking problems and lean against this car, you can hear the molding move. This car is like being in a tin can. This will be the last Buick I ever buy.

I purchased a 2010 Buick Enclave CXL. This car is the most unreliable car I have ever owned by FAR. The steering column has been replaced twice, the car has leaked water into the passenger's side cabin, and then the car leaked water again due to the sunroof rails and caused my Bose amplifier ($1000 to replace) to burn up. Today the wave plate for the transmission is gone ($3500) replacement. Apparently the wave plate is a consistent issue with any of the GM products but they have refused a recall. Also, the air conditioner will now blow in all vents except for the front blowers. Apparently an evaporator issue.
I will never purchase a GM product again. It doesn't matter how beautiful a car is if you can't drive it because it is always in for repair. The scary and irresponsible fact is that the steering column and wave plate issues are very dangerous for the families driving the car. GM should take responsibility for their faulty parts and recall both. I contacted three different people at GM to discuss the steering column issue and they stated that because I didn't purchase the vehicle brand new that they wouldn't assist me. The Car drove sorta good. We bought it. That Sunday night drove it to work, we worked 3rd shift. The Monday morning got in the car, it would not go into reverse. So, I put it back into park and got the rpms up. Then put the car into reverse. It went in gear.
The next day Tuesday got the tires rotated. The car had new tires on it. The guy at Melvin's Tire in Murray, KY said, "Bobby these wheels are bent." So, I called Jermany @ Taylor Automotive. And told them. They replaced 2 wheels. Then later on I found out the car had the wrong battery on it. I emailed Jermany and told him. I Also took pictures and got on GM's website and called GM to confirm if it had the wrong battery on it. Jermany told me that it was the right battery but later on he retracted his words and told me the battery would be there Tuesday. Then the car kept on not going into gear, so I called GM and they told me to take it to the dealer. So, I did.
Taylor Automotive said there was nothing wrong with the transmission. Which 2.5 years now it still doesn't go into gear right away. The dealer told me that the new Buicks did the same. I have a 1977 Chevy Nova, it will go into gear in any position. I bought one other wheel because Taylor's would not replace it. There is still one more wheel which is bent. They are 17" wheels. Stalling and not starting of 97 buick lesabre - I have watched the recalls and saw that they go back as far as my year but not the model. My one owner 97 was purchased from a Buick dealership 3 yrs ago with only approx.117,000 miles. I figured was going to last until I quit driving as I'm 66. In the first 5 miles I drove, the check engine light came on. My sister who got the car for me was adamant it was fine when she drove home and dew places trying it out. She had to have them replace the battery before she got it. We took to a garage where the gas cap was replaced and the man said that was probably all it was. Light went off till filled up next day to return back to me home...right back on, was running fine so ignored it, drove 225 miles home. About 2 months later after having auto parts house check codes went off. Stayed about 1 month. The next time came on, different code showed up. Had towed in to shop after wouldn't start and they kept 2 days, said couldn't find anything wrong. Week later stranded me a second time ..so after waiting about 20 min it started up. Got home...son looked, checked all wires etc...said didn't see a problem. I drove back 225 miles.
Back in July, got there - had to have water pump replaced and the air quit working on. Hi fan only works on med. Now for 3 yrs I have had nothing but problems. Replaced starter because after having to bump start to try get going, it went out. Wires plugs all small stud trying to fix, nothing has worked. The car cut completely off while going down highway at 55, 6 months after got it. Now happens about once every few weeks, nothing works at all. Can't steer and so afraid someone will hit me trying to get off road.
This car is only transportation I have and on fixed income. Can't afford another one, still owe my sister about 1000 dollars on it. She pd $3500.00 at Buick dealership in Statesville N.C for it. She just recently had to replace thermostat and needs serpentine belt which I have but not on yet. The other thing is the not starting when you drive. Make a stop or 2 then won't crank....have to wait at least 12 - 15 min. Sometimes you get lucky and it started. Most of time you have a cycle 1st try 12 min....2nd, wait 15 - 20 more min, then wait full 20 min again. Usually 3rd time after waiting up to as much as an hour she cranks...but has had to be let sit in yard at home for several hours before will start.
This is serious and needs to be addressed, this car is dangerous and needs to be on the switch problem recall. I'm at my wits end with nothing to fix it with. Yes it was a used car but supposedly according to your dealership was a heck of a car. Nothing but worry and problems, since I've had it I'm stuck. Please help me before I become one of your GM statistics.

A friend bought a Buick LaCrosse with an extended warranty & after owning this vehicle as a 2nd owner for only 4 months the check engine light came on. After retrieving the error codes which show that cylinders 1, 3 & 5 are misfiring she contacts the dealer who asks if this was the 1st time this has happened, to which she answers yes. The dealer then states that this is a common occurrence & that this GM 3.6 liter V6 engine misfires but not to the point of creating a mechanical issue. After doing some research I come to find out what appears to be plenty of reports/complaints of the exact issues (& plenty more) that she's having.
The check engine light eventually goes off the following day just to come back on about a week later but this time causing the vehicle to completely shut off & losing the power steering while navigating a left turn onto a busy freeway on ramp. Once again it's the same error codes so after advising her she contacts Buick's Customer "Care" 800 number to assist her getting this issue resolved. After being reassured by a supervisor she makes an appt to drop her car off & be placed in a loaner.
On the day the car was dropped off no loaner was available until almost end of business day at which time she's told she'll be charged another hour of diagnostic fees ($119) because after having the vehicle from 8am they were not able to diagnose the problem but do state that they've discovered what appears to be rodent damage, yes "rodent damage" to a wire harness. What they don't realize is that I removed the top cover that protects the cylinders to inspect & take a few pictures prior to the vehicle being arranged for drop off. As a foot note the vehicle is parked in a garage in Goodyear, AZ every night where there is no rodent problem.
She is now waiting to hear back from Yates Buick. The vehicle is also experiencing transmission issues (delay in shifting/jolting) as well as an odor from the AC unit, the driver seat doesn't always recognize one of the programmed memory settings & although the heated side mirrors function is turned off, when the vehicle is started through the remote start feature they turn on. This vehicle has 54,000 miles & is in great exterior condition. Hoping that GM (Buick) stands behind their name & brings the vehicle back to a reliable working condition that one would expect for the price one shells out. Stay tuned for the outcome.

My check engine light came on and I was given a list of codes that were causing the problem. I fixed all recommended issues, only to have the light come on again a day later. I was given the run around about how that one light controls hundreds of components and that the dealership would fix it. The next day I was given the bogus excuse that because the area where my tank was located had been dented that I needed to replace the fuel tank reservoir because that was causing the problem.
I took my car to a non GM dealer and was told it was something going on with my engine. I took my car back only to be told that it was my timing chain after I raised all kinds of hell about the erroneous diagnostics. After that repair, maybe a month later my car starts overheating and I was told that it was my water pump and that was going to be an additional $1200! I am so sick of this car that it is pathetic! I thought about trading the car in towards the purchase of another but with all the invested money on repairs, I feel like I'm losing! I would never buy another Buick. I own a Lexus and BMW and have never had these kinds of problems.
I love the body style and luxury of the car but the mechanical issues are too much for me. It seems that the quality of these parts are sub-par and below industry standards, just listen out for all the recalls that GM lists every month seems like! Imagine the other numerous issues that get swept under the rug only to be footed by the consumers. GM will lose a lot of its potential customer base with these mechanical concerns because anyone that asks about the performance of my car gets an earful that's surely able to deter them from buying one!

How long have they been making timing chains? Do they not test components any more? Buick is supposed to be a quality vehicle. What has happened to GM? When I contacted Buick, they were very sympathetic and said they were sorry and hoped nothing happened. Me too.

When I scheduled a routine oil change, the service writer recommended changing transmission fluid at 50000 miles. Three days after this was done, my transmission completely stopped. They persistently denied that the procedure caused the transmission failure or even that they should have seen the problem when doing the fluid work. They charged over 3600 for the new transmission on top of what I had already paid for the fluid. After I complained to GM about this, they contacted the dealer's customer relations department. The decision was to refund half of the cost of the new transmission.
The dealer's representative said the refund was coming because I had been a good customer, still not admitting the obvious cause. The check was to be sent in about a week. Nearly three weeks have passed and no refund has been received. Please note this review concerns the above incident, not my overall satisfaction with my Buick. As far as I know, installation of the new transmission was successful.

Took the auto to a Buick dealership in Buford, GA and was told to bring back when light on. When back in Mass went on internet and found accelerator control light and traction control caused by moisture in connector junction. Mechanic found moisture in junction box and applied fix recommended by Buick tech order - moisture remover and covering tape. Under drizzle and fog condition, problem reoccurred. Suspect this is a manufacturing engineering problem - junction box in wrong location (over strut) allows road spray to be kicked up from wheels causing condition to reoccur during wet road conditions. Why hasn't Buick corrected this problem?

Once I arrived at the dealership, I was asked for a $500 down payment. I refused to do this as this was not what we had previously agreed upon. As with many auto dealerships, they told me what they thought I wanted to hear to get me to come in. I refuse to make the down payment because I felt I was totally misled for an entire week. My 2011 Buick LaCrosse was the first (and last) Buick I have owned. The car is really attractive (on the surface) but has been a nightmare of mechanical and technical issues since the first day. On the day I picked it up it was raining really heavily and the windshield kept fogging up so badly that I couldn't see where I was going. Come to find out there was a recall on this, but the dealer didn't fix it before delivering the car. Within a week the driver's seat started to make this loud squeaking sound whenever I drove around a corner. After a half dozen attempts the seat has still never been fixed. Then the engine light started coming one every few weeks. This was supposed to be because of some software issue, but everything they "fixed" it never lasted and a few weeks later the light was back on.
After 4 trips to the dealer it was finally resolved... I think. The transmission slips whenever I take off going up a hill, the front end has never been aligned correctly and the car drifts to the left, the paint is peeling off the rear bumper sensors, the transmissions makes a whining sound every time it shifts from 3rd to 4th gear and the list goes on and on. The dealer has been completely worthless in trying to fix any of these issues. Buick sent their regional manager down to my dealer to tell me the driver's seat squeaks because I'm too fat. I weigh 195lbs which is not skinny, but I've seen the other people who drive Buicks and they are not skinny either.
Buick's customer service line has been completely worthless as well. Their solution was to offer me free oil changes for the life of my car... Wow! How about standing behind the car and fixing the problems? I've been a lifelong GM customer (mostly Chevrolet) but have to say after this experience I don't think I'll make that mistake again.

I recently purchased a 2012 Buick LaCrosse AWD. I traded in a 2008 Chevrolet Impala LTZ. After driving the Buick for several months now, I wish I had the Impala back. The Buick is a beautiful car with a huge defect. GM has designed and programmed the 6-speed automatic transmission to shift at over 5,000 RPM. At the high RPM, the engine noise is very noticeable. Perhaps the worst effect is that the high RPM sucks gas and the car gets nowhere near the advertised mileage. The Buick's engine has as much, if not more power, than the Impala so the high shift points are completely unnecessary. They will result in higher engine and transmission wear, and they are killing the gas mileage.
I am seeing growing complaints from other Buick LaCrosse owners, but when I contacted Buick's Customer Service about the problem, they blew me off saying the car is performing "normal." They wouldn't admit the other complaints, and refuse to discuss any remedy. When entering the highway and accelerating to highway speed, the transmission only uses three of the six speeds before reaching the speed limit. I choked when I heard the new Chevrolet Cruze TV commercial say, "With the 6-speed transmission, it allows for lower shift points." If this is the way GM is going to treat loyal customers, then it's time for me to check out Toyota and Honda. I don't know how Buick avoided the "Gas Guzzler Tax" with this vehicle. Someone must have lied to EPA.

Later on that day, they called me to let me know that the transmission broke down while they were test driving it.
Again, the car was maintained regularly as per the maintenance manual at the GM dealership and they had flushed the transmission at 65K. The transmission broke down at 124K. I have never pulled or towed anything with the car. I was surprised, called in to GM Canada customer service to complain and was told by a manager that regular car maintenance at the dealership means nothing and will not elongate the life of the car. I later think that he did not use it because it is not worth it! Within a month of purchasing the car, the driver's side window went out. I had that replaced, no biggie, I understand there are costs with cars. Then a year later, the air conditioner went out. I live in California and with temps over 100 degrees in the summer, my small children and I need air. The repair was just under $1,000. That repair lasted a year and a half. The air went out again. However, shortly after the air went out, so did the engine! To have the heads replaced, it was $3,500. I contacted Buick directly at that time and got the 'Oh, well, sorry you are having problems, but that's not our problem' response. In paying for the engine work, I could not afford the work on the air again. So, I have been without air and just try to drive as little as possible when it gets hot outside.
I get my regular oil changes and took it in for that last week and was told I have an oil leak now. There goes another $500 dollars. Well, that is what they quoted me. I need a few weeks to come up with the extra cash. But once they get under the hood, we will see how much more they find. If I could stop paying for repairs long enough to save a little money, I would definitely be using it for a down payment on a non GM vehicle! But GM has made it practically impossible. I have since read about recalls that Buick has had over the years on this car. However, I have never been contacted over a single one of them! The car is now 10 years old and only has 112,000 miles on it. The reason, because it spends more time broken than it does running. I have located the body shop manager that was there at the time and he remembers the car and what happened to it. The owner of Ewing Buick loaned this car to his housekeeper to clean his house and his mother’s house at the time. She was in an alleyway and a homeowner came out of his driveway not seeing her and hit the LaCrosse on the passenger side. The car was repaired at Ewing Buick and then back out on showroom floor to sell.
When I walked into Ewing Buick on 12/29/10 to buy a car, Rosemary was my sales representative, a very nice person. She did tell us, my husband and me, that the car had a dent on the front bumper, but it was fixed so they would take off a $1000.00 for that. Also, she had Randy, the finance officer, to come in and tell me about the dent on the bumper also. I guess to make sure I was aware of it. My husband and I both said that Rosemary told us about it. I asked how it happened and the excuse given to us was that the car was being cleaned up and the porter did not realize he had hit the post. My husband and I did not think anything about it because they fixed the bumper.
But this is a far cry from the wreck that really happened on 10/09/2009 that we were not told about. We found all this out because I was in an accident on 10/20/2011 this year. I was pinned inside this car for 45 minutes because the doors would not unlock. I had to be cut out of this car with the jaws of live. After I got out of the car everyone was surprised the air bags did not come out on the driver’s seat. I had the car taken to Ewing Buick for repairs because that is where I bought it from.
About 3 weeks into fixing the car, we got a call from our insurance company telling us this car was in another wreck on 10/ 2009 we told them no because we had bought this car off the show room floor on 12/29/2009. Allstate pulled the VIN and said that it was in another wreck totaling $5600.00. My accident cost about $ 7700.00, replacing 2 doors and back fender on the left side of the car. I went to Ewing Buick on 12/28/2011 to talk to them about the wreck on 10/09/2009 and the General Manager was rude and said that they did tell me and my husband about the wreck. So I am now asking for General Motors to look into this dealership and how it is being run. They did not tell us about the wreck in 2009.

Also, I have Michael, the ex body shop manager, to tell everything about this car also. All I want is for Ewing Buick to make this right. I will get a lawyer if I need to and I will also have Channel 8 and 5 to do a little more on looking into this also if I need to. I don't know how well those guys have road tested the 2011 Lacrosse v6 with the 18" wheels before they put it into production, but I can tell you they did not do a good job. I am one of the unlucky owners of the 2011 Lacrosse and I am completely disappointed with this supposed luxury vehicle. The main culprit is the terrible road noise coming from the wheels. On any surface that is slightly rougher than completely smooth asphalt, the noise is very excessive. We compared the road noise with a 2002 very used Nissan Altima and found noise in the Lacrosse to be much worse.
Especially on any metal junctions, such as the bridges and overpasses, and on rough cement or asphalt surfaces, the tires sound as though someone was hitting the vehicle with a hammer on the metal joints and there is that overwhelming low frequency noise like a plane flying in close proximity on gravel and other rough surfaces. The tire noise is the same on all the 2011 Lacrosse's with the 18 rims. The other problem is the exhaust. The two mufflers sound like a boom box at very low rpm's.
We plugged one up to test where the noise comes from and found the car 50% quieter. Apparently the other muffler is just for the looks and does not serve the purpose that it was designed for; that is, muffling the noise. I did not have a chance to see if you did anything about the tire noise on the 2012 models, but I did see that they did something with the exhaust system. I am a dissatisfied owner and will most likely never buy any GM product again. I have contacted their customer service on multiple occasions, but to no avail. I only wanted them to put the17" wheels on, which are much better suited for this type of vehicle. I hope no one else gets fooled like me. I have read many reports by the owners on the web, I guess they must be deaf.

The junk yard will probably give me about $100. The body of the car is in excellent condition. I have looked for used vehicles in the $1,500 to 3,000 price range and the mileage is considerably higher than the mileage on my vehicle or the vehicle's history in general is in question or both.

At 76k miles, the radiator is faulty. The transmission fluid mixed with engine coolant. The radiator, all hoses, and lower intake manifold gaskets had to be replaced. The cost was $1500 and that was with discount. Also, the oxygen sensor had to be replaced (separate issue). The car is rusting and the paint is peeling off. What's really scary is that I had minimal indication of the radiator problem, no warning lights/check engine light went on. I just discovered fluid leaking on my driveway. The engine wasn't running bad. But had I not acted quickly, within another hundred miles my engine would have blown up had the fluid got in it. This is ridiculous for a car with only 76k miles on it. I paid almost $20k for this car. I used it in December 2005 and have only put 50k miles on it! I will never buy another GM car again, ever! It's sad too because my dad retired from GM. Next time, I am buying Japanese.

My car needed some serious work, and has for several months. There is an issue with the GM model of engine in my Buick that was brought to my attention about a year ago, that resulted a class action suit against GM. It was described to me as a slow deterioration of something within the engine (I am not a mechanic and do not claim to be. However, I am in a technical field). I have been saving up the money to get the (1000 dollars plus) repair done. About 3 months ago, my car started overheating. I was told that it would take about $1000 to $1500 to fix. But they said that they could not tell me exactly without taking the engine apart, which would cost several hundred dollars. They showed me how to put coolant directly into the radiator to avoid damaging the engine, until I could afford to get it fixed. I did it daily. The car kept running until eventually it overheated enough to cause several leaks, so I took it to them to fix. Originally, I was told it would be $1000 to $1500 to fix. They tentatively gave me a ballpark figure. I would not hold them to an estimate when they had not looked at the engine. And that is not what this complaint is about.
By the time they called me the first time with an actual quote, it was around $2000 (I did not get it in writing). I asked them how much it would cost to fix the fan while they were in there (fan only worked on high, and was a preexisting issue). They told me it would add a couple hundred. I asked them to do that while they were in the engine. Once they called me back, they had "found" a bunch of other stuff that was wrong with my engine they had not quoted me for, and that it was now going to cost over 3000 dollars. When I told them to stop working on it, they informed me that they had already done 700 plus dollars worth of work. So, if they stopped, I would still have to pay that and my car would still not work. I could not afford this. But they assured me that the good news is that it passed the "block test" and the head gasket was fine. It had been tested several times. Since that was okay, my car would work for years after this repair.
Having already been out of work for days without my car, I arranged to borrow money from my mother to cover the repairs, so I could get back to work. When I spoke with the mechanic to authorize the repairs, they listed a long list of everything that is needed to be done. It was a very long list. When they were done, I told them, "I understand it needs quite a bit of work, but my only concern is the end result." I then asked them, "If my car is only worth 4000 dollars, and I put 3020 dollars into it, when it is done, will it no longer overheat, will it be drivable, and will the heater work?" The mechanic I spoke to (KJ **) said "yes" and continued to sell me on the repairs and what a good idea it was to do. I then asked the exact same question, just to be sure (I was planning for the worst) and got the same "yes" answer.
The car was in the shop for a few days. The turn around was quite quick for the huge list of things that needed to be done (according to them). I called to check on it daily. I was never warned about any other problems. They told me on Saturday when I called that it was done, although I never received a call. And it was the end of the day when I tried calling. I'm not even sure if they were open on a Saturday. And they told me that I had to come get it immediately. Well, it started out as him being pushy and encouraging me to come get it right then. But he eventually turned in to being flat out. He told me I had to pick it up because they did not have room on the lot for it.
Regardless of if it was a rush job, a mistake on their part, or flat out fraud, I was sold an end result I did not get. When my girlfriend went to pick up the car to go to work (her work is approximately 1.5 miles from the auto mechanics shop), she was told that it was all fixed (just as I was on the phone). But she was told to "keep an eye on it just in case and if it overheats to bring it back". She did not make it to work before it started overheating, not a mile and a half. Our house is only about a half mile away from her work (basically in between the two). So luckily, she was able to make it home after work. She told me it had gotten over half way to the red overheating in that short of a distance. So, the first thing I did the next day was to take it for a test drive (starting out fresh while it was still cold).
It overheated off the charts within 10 blocks, red-line overheating. I immediately called the mechanic while letting the car cool down. It was the same guy who had sold me on the repairs (KJ **) and also the same guy that rushed it out the door. When I told him it was overheating, he sounded like he was trying to sound surprised. He was not sincere at all, very forced. He said, "Oh really, that's weird." Then, he told me to let it cool down, take it back, and they would take care of it, and that they must have missed something. He said, "You know, sometime things get overlooked." Being in a technical trade, I told him I understood (which I did, things happen). I asked him specifically: "I have no money left. I just gave you guys 3000 dollars. I do not have. This will not cost me anything correct?" He said "yes". Once again, I repeated myself and made him repeat the same affirmative answer. I always cover my bases when there is a large amount of money on the line.
The car was with them for several days, and I did not hear a word. They did not call me once. I kept calling. All KJ ** would tell me was that they were running a "block test" to see if it passed. He told me it passed one day, then it failed the next, and back and forth on 4 separate occasions. He said: "It failed hot, so we're going to let it cool down over night and test it again in the morning. It failed cold so we're letting it run. It's been running for hours so it must be fixed (which is obviously a flat out lie, since it could not make it 10 blocks). It passed hot," and so on, going back and forth. He gave me no real answers and becoming less and less honest. This is the test they guaranteed me my car had passed initially before all of these repairs. And this was the whole reason it would be worth it to put $3020 into my 2000 Buick that is only worth $4000 or so.
After four or five days total, KJ ** put me on hold for the first time. Then, someone named "Nick" (who refused to give me his last name when I called) got on the phone. He started listing off the things that needed to be repaired. I said, "That's great, but this is obviously not going to cost me anything extra right?" He told me that since it failed the block test, it needed x done (head gasket I believe, along with some other things). And he told me that since that was not what they did initially, it would not be under warranty. Then, he started listing off things that were $400 to $500 a piece, which is where I cut him off. My response was (expletive deleted): "Are you ** kidding me? You sell me on a 3000 dollar repair, guarantee me that the thing that is now broken is not broken and that’s the good news. You guarantee me an end result of a working car. But as soon as it drives off the lot, it cannot drive a mile. In addition to that, it broke in your possession due to being rushed or bad repair work, misdiagnosed, or whatever. Now you want more money?!"
I was obviously quite upset. He kept telling me the same "not our problem" type responses (that is not an actual quote, however everything else in this report is almost word for word). I told him I was going to call my lawyer. And I told them that I expect them to provide the service they charged me 3000 dollars for, and that was a working car. I told him I would call him back the next day. I immediately looked up everything I would need should they not honor the service they charged me for: this website (the BBB), the State Attorney General, King 5 news Scam Watch series, etc. I also found around 50 reviews online from other unhappy customers that claimed they had done the same thing to them (overcharged etc). Most of them were oil changes that ended up being hundreds. But a few of them were 2000 to 3000 dollar charges that were in the same or similar situations I was, except most of them at least had a working car to show for it!
When I called the next day, the uncooperative "Nick" picked up the phone. I told him he had a day to think about the situation, and asked him if he had decided to do right by his customer. He continued the same "not our problem" responses. At that point is when I informed him I had legal counsel and that I would be filing with the BBB, State Attorney General, the credit card company, and have them featured on the news. I also told him that I would be taking him to court if they refused to provide the service that they had charged me for. He said, "Let's go to court."
One thing I find interesting is that when I was referring to my and KJ **'s earlier conversation, he said "yea that was me" when I was quoting KJ **. He told me that I had talked to him. I never talked to him until they decided to try to get more money out of me. I pay very close attention to that type of thing in these situations. There are only 3 different employees I have ever spoken with there (Nick, Ken and KJ). KJ ** was new to me with this repair job. They don't even sound the same on the phone. KJ ** has a pretty noticeable accent, so this immediately jumped out at me as a complete lie. He was obviously trying to add credibility to his argument. Because if it was him I had been talking to, then he could argue about what had been said, and attempt to twist the end result.
So, I am now filing this with you along with every other place I mentioned above. Thank you for your help. I just wanted my car fixed for the $3020 (less would have been better, but I was willing to pay it to have my car back and working). And I gave them countless opportunities to finish the job for the agreed upon price, all of which they refused. So now I am asking for my money back. I have been unable to work 2 weeks now due to being lied to, defrauded, sold a scam, and ripped off. I am an on-site computer technician and have to be able to get to a job site within 30 minutes, which is almost impossible in Seattle on public transit. Thank you for your assistance.

But in that period of time, the following has happened: The plastic gaskets GM uses in their vehicles deteriorated causing a major repair, the power windows failed, the catalytic converter went twice, I am told the anti-freeze used in these vehicles is faulty and is slowly eating away at the interior of the rubber hoses causing a horrible sludge problem in the radiator. And if all that isn't costly enough, the paint is literally falling off my beautiful car. Buick of course will do nothing, everything is out of warranty. I miss my Toyota vehicles that I easily got 200,000+ miles on with none of these horrible issues. I would never recommend or purchase a GM vehicle again. What a piece of **.

Upon further inspection, it was obvious that they were non-repairable (Part # FRT-RH-BU 25713421). The engineer who designed this, and his boss who approved it, should both be Wal-Mart greeters, if they could qualify. This gives 'designed and made in America' a really bad name.

I found out later that a month prior, it was no longer a GM dealership but I was never told at the time of the call. So, we took it to an independent. After paying $2,200, it was fixed and drove better than it ever has. We have had problems in the beginning with the transmission module and slipping.
It was fixed more than once. I am extremely disappointed in this product and how GM is not caring less on how they want to look as a company. I believe that there was something wrong with it in the beginning. And things can happen, I understand, but to blow off a customer, which GM did, by telling me that there was nothing they could do to help me is unacceptable. Am writing this letter to you because I think you should be made aware of how the average GM owner is treated with a service issue. My name is Jack *** and have a 2007 Buick Lucerne that I purchased brand new from patriot Buick in Charlton, MA.The car itself has been wonderful. I compliment the engineers on the design. I must say the lack of care I have been shown both from the dealer and Buick customer service at best has been a terrible experience. My story is simple and I would think it should have been very easy to resolve.
On Wednesday, July 27 2010, I had a flat tire. I proceeded to start to change the tire, followed all the safety instructions in the manual provided by GM and as a total surprise to me the jack on the car malfunctioned and collapsed with the car falling to ground and cutting my knee from the flying parts. I then contacted Buick roadside and they informed the car was still within warranty and sent out a road side tow.The company arrived in a reasonable time and proceeded to change the tire.
When the gentleman from roadside jacked up the car, he dented the rocker panel on the right side of the car. The only other damage done was when the jack malfunctioned and the car fell to the ground. It damaged the right front rim on the car. The next day, I called Buick customer service and they set up a 3 way call with the dealer I purchased the car from. I spoke with a gentleman named Jim who was very nice, set up an appointment to look at the car for Monday 8/2/10 at 5:30. This is where everything went down hill. I walked in and approached the service manager and told him about my situation and his response to me was where is the rest of the jack that you could clearly see was totally destroyed. I suggested he check in another Lucerne to see how the jack should look in one piece. He informed that was not his job, his job was to sit behind the desk.
I once again tried to get him to look at the car and he refused, at that point he talked with the sales manager of the dealership and he talked with service manager and said I would be taken care of. After sitting for 45 minutes with no help, I once again contacted the sales manager. He spoke to the service manager and finally they came out and looked at the car. I thought at that point everything was going to be covered. The service manager apologized to me for the way he treated me and I accepted that.
He indicated to me he could see what happened and would contact Buick to get me a new rim and the car fixed. I then received a call back from gm customer service telling me I would have to contact Buick roadside about the damage done by the tow company. I thought when I bought the car the warranty would be provided by Buick. Once again, after a series of phone calls to roadside they informed me it was up to the tow company to take care of the damage. I would need to take pictures and get three estimates and send them to roadside.
It is now a week later and got a call back from a Brandi at Buick telling me that Buick would not give me a new rim based on the recommendation of the dealer and service managers report. I also asked what about the damage done by the roadside tow and she informed me that is up to the people at road side and I need to call them. To this point not one person has satisfied my needs.I contacted the local tow company and they looked at my car this morning and will fix the body damage on Tuesday of next week. Very ironic that the local tow company is the only one willing to standby a customer and provide help to me. They said it could take up to two days to fix.
I once again contacted roadside to see if they could provide me with a car while my car would be tied up. To no surprise, they indicated to me it was up to the tow company who they contracted not me to provide me with a car. As you can see by this long exchange it has been very time consuming and frustrating. I must tell you my prior car before the Lucerne was an Acura and the service was beyond excellent. They did everything in such a great manner. I really had reserves about buying a GM product. I guess it was my mistake to think the so called new GM is a new image company. I thought you should be made aware of this because I will not pursue any GM products in the future, Hopefully someone can learn from this and not have to be put through the runaround I have. It is now a week from the incident and nothing has been resolved. I would expect a company that prides itself as world class and better than Lexus would be much better. I now can see why people in my age group, 45-55, go with all the luxury imports. The topper of this is the GM, Tom S. did not want to hear about my problem and when I indicated possibility of buying a new Buick, he informed to go elsewhere.

I own a 2006 Buick Rendezvous w/ 42,000 miles that I have just taken to my mechanic to be inspected and checked because an engine light came on. They did an ECM scan and a P2761 code came up for the Torque converter on the transmission. I was stunned; I have never had a problem w/ any of my other cars, and have always had General Motors vehicles. I have had 3 Buicks and an Oldsmobile that span more than 25 yrs and never had anything like this before. The mechanic also explained if they had to "drop" my transmission to repair said problem, it could be very costly.
I went home and researched my situation online and went to Edmunds to see what problems presented itself w/ this car and got an eyeful. I next went to Just Answer and got a tech online who gave me the lowdown. It seems when some of the Rendezvous were built and (there is a TSB that was sent to all the dealers so they knew about it) there was an incorrectly routed wire at the transmission causing the wire to get cut on a bracket which will set the P2761 code. The wiring needs to be replaced and the harness.
Now we're talking somewhere in the neighborhood of $600. They were kind enough to send me all the schematics and email so I have all the info in black and white. Now the crux of the problem, I called the dealer who states it's a Buick problem. Okay, I call Buick, and I explain my issue and the miles on car and the TSB that was sent out and they try and talk around it. I state that this should be their responsibility and as a goodwill gesture, they should take care of it as it was their problem to begin with. They called me today to tell me I should now take the car back to the dealer for the same exact scan that the car already had at my expense, I absolutely refused.
I told them to call me back and reassess their issue because this is absolutely unacceptable and about one day away from going to the media about this issue. I am truly serious about this. I have always bought American cars but if this is how I'm treated as a senior woman, maybe I have made a mistake. Can you folks help please? I am a senior woman on a fixed income still paying for this car. I can't afford to pay for this repair and I'm very serious and honest about that. I'm handicapped and need this car, that is why I bought it in the first place. Please help.

In December 2004, I purchased a 2005 Buick Terraza and had the vehicle less than two years when I spent significant time going back and forth with the dealer's service department regarding issues I was experiencing with my vehicle. For starters in June/July 2006, I took my car in because of a noise and vibration when driving at all speeds. After approximately three visits, I was told I had four bad tires and they were replaced (which I thought great at the time, problem solved). Additionally, I complained that I had issues with my sliding doors not closing. I continue to have problems with this to this day. The instruments lights, overhead buttons, gasoline, etc. were only half lit, not lit at all or fully lit (a mixture). Also, when attempting to start my car it would not always start (hardly ever on the first try) when I turned my key. I was told that that was because it was an electric start and that certain things had to line up and it was an issue that was being worked on. I continue to have that problem, only now it makes a grinding noise.
Periodically, my radio/CD player just doesn't work and for an extended period of time, the memory buttons had issues that were correctable if I hit the button twice really quickly. I have a molded piece on the in front of the rear driver's side wheel. Well, that has never been fixed although it was pointed out to the dealer (it has been this way for nearly as long as I've owned the car). After approximately two years, I had to have my starter replaced. I've had to have the paint touched up on my lift gate because of rust.
Speaking of lift gates, to get the gate to close, you must attempt slamming it two, three and four times. The final straw was this morning when I turned my seat warmer on (a luxury I afforded myself since I planned to have the vehicle for a while) and it became too hot. It was on high so I turned it down and put my hand under my leg to ease the heat and I had to jerk it back because it was so hot. When I parked my car and looked at my seat, I actually had a burn scar on my leather seat from the heating coil. Now the seat warmer does not work at all (I guess that saves me from future burns). I bought this vehicle along with the luxuries and now regret it every single day I look at this car and have felt that way for three years (easily). I expect wear and tear on my vehicle and to have minor repairs, but to battle something seemingly every day is ridiculous. I seriously doubt that I will ever purchase another GM product.

I purchased 2002 Rendezvous in 2002. It began in the second year, I could not believe that I would be replacing the radiator and condenser assembly. Each year following, I was shelling out major bucks in repairs. Each year, there was something wrong with either the heat or the air conditioner. From replacing sensors, thermostat to water pumps. Each year I have had to replace the brakes and rotors and had the hub bearing replaced once. In 2009, I began to have problems with the engine and electrical. I had the head gaskets replaced and once again, problems with heat and replaced the blower motor resistor.
In December of 2009, the driver side window no longer works. Then in January 2010, despite my efforts in taking very good care of my car with regular scheduled maintenance, the engine took a final dump. The cam shaft broke inside the engine that pumps the oil without any warning. I was left stranded and carless. I received a recall notice regarding the hub bearings but did not qualify because of the mileage. I was never notified on the recall for the Dex Coolant and when I found out, it was too late.
In my recent research, I found that there was a recall for the head gaskets that closed in April of 2009. I was never notified. I did receive a recall for the fuel fill tube which is good for 10 years or 150,000 miles and I do qualify, however, I don't have an engine! I called GM Consumer Relations and they said the only recall they have is for the lift gate latch. I feel that GM should reopen the recalls for the dex coolant, hub bearings and the head gaskets. I am looking for some recourse because in no way should the cam shaft broke.

My Buick Rendezvous stalls while driving, or car will not start. In the past two years my radio would freeze up or my wipers would not turn off sporadically. I purchased my 2002 Buick Rendezvous used but with only 26K miles. Two out of four years of having this car, I have been having repeated problems with it not starting, service lights flashing, stalling, and completely not turning over at times.
It has been in the shop about four times for the various problems. First they could not find the problem, then they changed parts! It is completely dead! I mean nothing! I had to have it towed back to the shop. It is still there. I have only 3 payments left on it and was very excited. Now I fear I have thrown my hard earned money after a bad investment. I almost bought a Lexus but truly appreciated the Buick quality. I question their intentions when they came up with this SUV. I could only pray that something will be done to fix or replace my only means of transportation.

My car has now reached a point where I can't use air conditioning without my car overheating. I am flushing the radiator today and replacing the coolant with a different brand after seeing all of the complaints about Dex-Cool. Coolant from my 2002 Buick Rendezvous (with less than 70K) disappears from coolant tank (intake or heads). Radiator went out last year. The A/C condenser went out 2 years ago. It had no heater for two years. Front bearings are making noise (falls under a recall). Battery has gone out more times than I can count. Car won't start from time to time. I was told BCM problem. It had a lifter noise from time to time. When turning from a stop, sometimes the traction control light comes on and car will not accelerate (very dangerous new problem). The gas gauge of course works only from time to time. The electrical problems are too long to list them all. I had no major accidents, minor scrapes only. Junk! The car for the last 2 1/2 years can only be driven short distances to avoid overheating due to the coolant loss.
I contacted Reynolds Buick about the coolant loss and they said they had no known recalls or known problems (2 years ago). I also asked about A/C problem when it went out, same answer, no known problems. I am very unhappy with the short use this SUV has given us. I was a mechanic for 20 years, had my own shop. I replaced the radiator when it began to leak/ so I did both radiator and condenser together (condenser failed first drove without A/C for a while). The sad part is the condenser is out again. I have been watching the coolant just disappear knowing a major problem would follow. We choose to keep driving 3 miles each way to work. There is no coolant in the engine oil so I figured the engine has no fear of failure. The problems listed above are very common to this car I found out looking on Edmond's just a few days ago. I now know that Buick/GM is well aware of the problem/s. The worst part, the BCM issue has never been resolved as well as the intake gasket/head gasket. They of course can be replaced and the same problem will happen again in a few years later (never resolved issue from what I have read).
With the cars new traction control issue, it is no longer safe to even drive around the block. I think it very sad that GM knows of these defects. I have only been contacted about the bearings. The problems have not been resolved in any way. There is no new BCM without problems. The dex-cool issue, I was never made aware of. I have cleaned out the coolant tank several times due to the strange rust color/scale/sludge build up in it. It has never failed emission test. The oil has been changed on time. The SUV is very clean inside and out. I have never had it back at Buick. I have called them and/or gone down to talk to them in person about the issue listed above. They charge of course just to pop the hood open. They said none of my problems would be covered by GM (General Mistake). They made me feel/understand I was the only one with these problems. Why spend so much money trying to fix what they cannot fix properly anyway. We are lucky my wife works walking distance from the house. If not, this SUV would have failed to be of any use years ago.

After going online, I saw this report to fill out and was hoping to be contacted about my vehicle that caught fire in Oct. 2007. I had to get a rental car and wait for insurance company to settle. Once paid by the insurance company, which was not enough to get another vehicle of equal quality, I had to add money to that to get another car. GM has just issued a recall for this very reason. I find it absurd that a parked vehicle caught fire and no one (Insurance, GM) saw the need to investigate. With only one payment left, I more than paid for this vehicle, not to mention taxes and insurance costs only to lose it with very little compensation. I'm sure it has been too long to do anything about this now but I wanted to at least voice my complaint.

We followed the recall instructions and brought the car into the Buick Dealership for repair. We learned the recall item had already repaired by our mechanic by in 2006. But Buick continued to repair the valve cover that was already fixed (go figure) and they (Buick) broke the valve cover and forced me to pay for the new cover noting I was responsible for payment of the part they broke. Yep, cause I went somewhere convenient to my home for something BUICK would not have paid for 2 years ago, it was my fault their mechanic broke my car because my mechanic had worked on it at 101,000 miles (this is very sad... no accountability to their people)! I appealed this decision to GMC and submit for reibursement for the original work done by my mechanic as well as the valve cover they broke. I had all the receipts and documentation on what was repaired and when. GMC reviewed my claim and they agreed completely that I should be reibursed and approved Full payment. In fact, they called me to advise me I would be fully reimbursed for all of my costs! I should receive a check in 2 to 3 weeks. That was in May 2008. Today I recieved a voicemail that GMC reversed their decision to reimburse for full cost incurred due to a recall of your Buick. Nevermind that this was a huge safety risk - they would only pay for one specific value something or other... wishy washes technical detail. You can either fix the leak or not! But in the end, I am not clear why they changed their mind, and they admit they changed their mind, reducing the full payment of $523 down to $142. And of course I will receive a check in 2 to 3 weeks again... I have been dealing with this for 2 months now. I can understand why they are struggling to survive as a company. All the dash lights would come on and nothing more. We called the dealer we had bought it from in April of 2007(a non GM dealer) and he had it towed to their repair facility. After they examined the engine, they informed me that the intake manifold had failed and had leaked into the engine, basically ruining everything the coolant had come in contact with.
This repair cost me over $800, which coming after my hospital stay, was hard to come by. The service manager, who was a former service manager at a GM dealer, told me this was a common problem with these engines and said the new fix manifold should take care of the problem. As I have continued to read about this situation, I am amazed that this problem is so widespread. Has Buick issued a recall for a problem they have to know about? If they have not, why?

They replace the gas cap, fixed a pin hole at buick service center. did this and did that, the light would stay off for a week or two and come back on. the light is still on right now. there may not be any major problem with the car, but i'm not sure. i asked for an equal trade the answer was no, i would have to pay the off the car and than refinance another car. the suv is nice, i like it but what about the check engine light, i don't know what to do. my family has brought over 5 cars from walsh dodge even when the company was daewoo we purchased cars, that how long it has been.

ok I bought a used 1998 buick regal gs last summer 2007, I had it less then a month and had to replace the ignition switch, Christmas 2007 wife was shopping and had a pulley freeze up and took out four pulleys and two belts, new alternator, the wiper stop in the upright position, GM had same problem on the 1997 Buicks. Just had a recall on a intake manifold issue. and this morning, 4-23-08 water pump. so far in less then a years time I have put $1300.00 dollars into this car, I love the ride and preformance, but I feel GM knew about some of these issues and have ignored them. And they wonder why we Americans are buying cars the Japanese. I have many more issues with the car but I am just blowing off steam, I am sure nothing will every come of this. I just wish GM would fess up and help pay for things they screwed up.

I have had to replace the intake manifold, because of loss of coolent, on my 1999 Buick century car and now I will have to replace again because the coolent has started leaking again. The odor inside and out side of the car is very strong. I did not buy extra insurance and in 2003 I was told by the Buick Dealer that I would be resposible for the repair, which I did have the small piece changed. I am a senior citizen and to have to keep paying thousands of dollars for this repair is very damaging to me.

I bought my 2002 Buick Century in 2003. We have had to have the radiator flushed several times because of the gunk. Recently, the coolant light came on and my husband took the car in to have the radiator flushed again. The gentleman said he couldn't do it and that the car had an intake manifold leak. He said that GM cars have a problem with that due to the Dex product and that if we didn't address it immediately it would ruin the engine.

I bought my 2003 Buick in 2004, it had 14,000 miles on it. At 14,800 I had to have new rotors put on the front, dealer said it wasn't covered because someone rode the brakes and gas pedal at the same time, I have never done that. At 58,000 had to have gas tank fixed, it kept leaking. Since 58,000 my tail lights have not worked properly. I turn my left blinker on and the hazards come on, use my right blinker and brake light doesn't work. I just quit using my blikers. Now at 65,000 I just spent over $1000.00 getting a new manifold and gaskets put in. I will NEVER but another GM product!

I own a 2003 Buick Rendezvous and had the intake manifold gasket replaced and now have a blown head gasket. The vehicle has 77k miles on it! Dex Cool is the problem and the Dex Cool warranty listed in GM's manufacturer's booklet is false. I have filed a complaint with the PA Attorney General.

The white paint on my 1997 Buick Century is peeling off, leaving huge grey circles. It looks terrible. Checking online, I see this is a fairly common problem with many Buicks of certain years. My family has always sworn by these cars. My mother drives a park avenue. But I'll think twice before ever buying another Buick.

My 1995 Buick Park Avenue upon starting with a loud explosion under the hood caught on fire immediately on the left side. The plastic manifold had exploded from a backfire. The car was in very good mechanical running condition and have not experience a backfire previously. This set the gas line on fire which is plastic going under the cowl over the heater spreading very rapidly. Also checking with a repair garage nearby, they had similiar problem a GM 3800 plastic manifold exploding ,only the holddown bolts was left. Also almost all of the GM 3800 engines have coolant leakage through the plastic manifold. There is several instances listed on NHTSA site.
