I’m very disappointed from service department Elmhurst BMW in Illinois. Especially, John **! The only thing they’re trying to do is to rip you off! They don’t care about BMW reputation! I used to love these cars, but because of the really bad experience, wait BMW customer service. I’m gonna switch to somebody else!

Update: Today, I had a constructive conversation with Garrett from Sewell, and I want to share the outcome. Garrett approached our discussion with the utmost respect, humility, and genuine concern, which allowed us to gain a much clearer understanding of the situation.
It turns out that the information I received from BMW USA and shared earlier in this post was inaccurate and misleading. Contrary to what I was initially told, Sewell did not act unethically or mislead me in any way. The explanation provided by BMW for the lack of support—citing an external cause for the shutters jamming—was, unfortunately, false. I’m relieved to know that Sewell acted with integrity throughout this process.
However, I am disappointed that the manufacturer chose to deflect responsibility and place blame on the dealer’s service department instead of being transparent about the issue. As it turns out, some of the information BMW shared with Sewell was only partially accurate.
Original Review: Feb. 18, 2025
Want to be clear that in the past Sewell BMW was great service provider. However our last visit for service left me bewildered and in disbelief. In short the front grill shutter system failed. Our X7 is extraordinary low miles but is out of warranty. This issue has been widespread on multiple models and BMW in their typical fashion extended the warranty on the component to 10 years and 100k miles, but not on the X7, so I asks for good will support. Sewell would not even try and quoted me approximately $1700 to repair it, so I called BMW customer support directly and received great feedback and response in that they agreed it was something they could support but needed to confer with Sewell for confirmation of the failure.
To my surprise BMW came back to me today telling me that they could not support with good will because Sewell stated “the failure was not a failed component but was caused by something foreign causing the shutters to jam and not operate". I expressed my disappointment to BMW pointing out, that if that was the case why did Sewell want to charge me $1700 to replace a failed component. The gentleman actually agreed but said he could not help unless the dealer's diagnoses indicated the component failed. Needless to say we won’t be using Sewell any longer based on there seems to be a genuine ethics issue. We love the BMW product but will also reconsider that also. If they don’t better monitor the ethical behavior of their distribution network….how do you receive good service. Feeling a little stuck as we have 3 BMWs!!

My 2021 BMW X5 M Comp has a front-end issue that BMW has no solution for. There are many other models that have the same issue. The issue is the performance tire recommended for the car will make loud popping noises in cooler weather when the wheel is turned deep at low speeds. It is very loud inside the car and can be heard outside as well. It is quite disturbing and embarrassing if your friends or colleagues happen to be close when you drive away. They say you need all season tires to eliminate the issue, but in the case of my car, there isn't a full set of all season tires made that will fit the car. So, if you were to do this, you would have to have mismatched tires.
I am amazed that BMW has designed a car that will do this and won't come up with a solution for the owners that have already purchased it. My word to anyone thinking about buying a BMW performance vehicle, think about something else. When the company won't stand behind their high-end product and design a solution for a design flaw, then that is a company you don't want to do business with. I wish it were not true as I have had 5 BMW's, but this will be my last one. Looks like back to Mercedes AMG.

Over the last 10 months, we have had our x7 in the shop 8 times and it has been towed multiple times. First we had issues with the passenger rear door jamming and then drivetrain issues. We contacted customer care and they only offered to refund one month of payment. I am extremely disappointed with BMW’s reliability and the poor customer service.

Air bags didn’t deploy after a bad accident. I own a 2018 BMW X6. Spoke with Eddie in relation, like I stated in the above review. He stated they will pay for the rental car that I have been in since the accident and also give me 4k towards another vehicle with BMW which is nothing to put down on a BMW. He has not yet to return my phone calls or emails. Do not purchase this vehicle. Remember safety is always first. I could’ve lost my life. My head hit the window and I hurt my left leg. Maybe if the airbags would’ve deployed, this could’ve been prevented. We pay too much money for these vehicles for them not to protect us.

I hired BMW Roadside Services for a battery jumpstart, the mechanic on scene did not know where the battery was and proceeded to jumpstart the auxiliary battery instead of the main battery, Resulting in burnt cables and damages to my car. Upon reaching out to BMW Customer Service, I was basically informed they use a third party provider for these services and I had to take up the claim with them. Received no support whatsoever when THEY (BMW) are the ones who chose, hired and have a contract with the third party supplier. It's been almost a month and my car is still in the dealership.

That's on December 2 and I have been told that the first appointment will be available is December 11. Then I asked it's an emergency because it's a battery and I need the car. I can't wait 10 days to just change the battery so I said, "You should have an emergency appointment for this cases," and they said, "You can walk in and leave it and probably you will leave it for 2 days until we can change the battery." Really this not acceptable at all. I bought a BMW thinking that I will get a good service but unfortunately it's very bad service.

Terrible experience with the customer service and Sales after purchasing my vehicle. The customer service team displayed a complete lack of concern for any issues I faced. There was no support provided for the problems I encountered with the vehicle. Instead, they seemed more interested in making money by constantly claiming that various services were required, even when they weren’t necessary. This approach felt like a blatant attempt to extract more money from customers rather than genuinely helping them.
Additionally, the insurance I purchased through them turned out to be a waste. It didn’t cover the issues I faced, and I received no assistance in resolving my claims. Overall, the entire experience has been extremely frustrating and disappointing. I would not recommend this BMW brand and dealership to anyone looking for a reliable and supportive customer service experience after buying a vehicle. It’s clear that their primary focus is on making money rather than ensuring customer satisfaction.

This is my 4th BMW purchase. In 8/2021, I purchased a brand new X3. Today 10/24, 45,000 miles later, I received a message stating replace front brake pads. $2500 a few days later all brake pads and rotors front and back had to be replaced despite the error message on my display panel. A repair specialist explained that on BMWs & Mercedes usually the entire brake system will have to be replaced… Why the rotors are thin and cannot be turned to grind them down… meaning they cannot be replaced!
So, all to say BMWs are a RIPOFF They are expensive pieces of JUNK, high end priced automobiles with high maintenance designed to take your money by saying they are luxury cars. They are Not made well or should I say designed to be repaired all the time so BMW stays in business. Unfortunately, we have bought into this as a High End Status Vehicle.. German made foolishness is what I say…. Other models purchased was two 535i sedans, X5 SUV.

Purchased a used X4 with 30,000 mi and manufacturer warranty. Within a few weeks of purchase, the vehicle had a drive train malfunction light coke on. I took it to a local BMW dealer where they told me it was a fuel inj. They replaced it and it did not work, within an hour they told me it needed an engine replacement but manufacturer warranty would not cover it because of the inability to find maintenance records. I got on Carfax, tracked down the maintenance records (took days) and submitted them.
Now they state that because the oil filter was not their brand, they are refusing to repair the vehicle. The oil filter was clearly functioning appropriately and the oil was clean when they did the pre service oil check before the inspection of the light, not to mention the aftermarket oil filter is not an alteration to the mechanics of the vehicle in any way. The vehicle has had routine maintenance every 10,000mi. I am sick over having a new vehicle that I cannot afford to repair or even trade out of. We purchased a new 2021 BMW X5 PHEV, couldn't get rid of it fast enough. The driver seat and center console starting losing color around 7,500 miles, BMW said too bad not covered and recommended a shop to repair. I wasn't happy with that response and they (two dealers, one in WA and the 2nd in AZ) agreed to bubble up the issue and get back to me. No responses or follow up to this obvious factory flaw.
Our rear run flat tires needed to be replaced around 18,000 miles due to excessive wear on the inside, factory settings and only option is to rotate for a couple more miles.... Dealer makes no effort to suggest this at service times. For a vehicle advertised as the ultimate handling machine this model handles (floats) like a boat, the lane departure vibrates continuously on bumpy or curvy roads, the fix is just turn it off.... Too bad. We've had many BMWs over the years, sadly the lack of concern and follow up for our issues and the overall quality of the brand no longer deserves our business.

I bought a 2019 BMW X1 from BMW Palm Springs February 6, I called and ask about three different BMW X1 trucks and told the sale rep Paul I only wanted certified vehicles. He told me the dark grey X1 was the only vehicle out of all three cars were certified, I asked how much was the total of the car with cash payment and he gave me the numbers which was right in my range. I arrived at the dealership with the check in hand ready to purchase my vehicle. Everything went as planned until the finance manager was giving me my blue booklet with all documents signed that he realized the vehicle they just signed to me did not match the certified documents. The vehicle I signed for was a total different car. I should have walked out then but I let them rectify the situation.
At this point it was revealed that the car was not certified and that they would have to buy me a warranty for 6 months because it was an error on their end and all paperwork was complete. I leave the lot finally relieved things worked out and that Sunday which was Super Bowl Sunday my car stopped on me on the way to watch the game. I sat for 10 minutes and the vehicle finally started back. I called first thing Monday morning and let BMW Palm Springs know what had occurred, they then informed me I needed to bring the car to Palm Springs for diagnostic well at the time I was working in Glendale so I didn’t want to risk driving from Glendale to Palm Springs so I took the car to Pacific BMW.
The next day I get a text and email stating the transmission had dropped, the engine had a crack and the back brakes were bad and the total for everything was 5876. I was lost for words, I called and called until finally they agreed to fix the issues no cost to me. I get the car back a month later and the car alerts me my brakes are bad again. I call BMW Palm Springs like how is this possible, again they say you have to bring the vehicle in because it may be an error. I get a call and text three days later saying not are my front brakes bad but I have a brake line leak, they were willing to fix the brakes but the brake line leak which cost 3484 would need to through my warranty. I then find out through my warranty that a car I have really only had in my possession for two months is not covered from bumper to bumper warranty and that I would have to pay these damages myself.
Basically I paid for a car that had issues and I understand they can’t foresee something’s but BMW does a thorough diagnostic to all their cars so there is no way these things were missed, what happen is I was sold a lemon. I have contacted the lemon law attorneys and they said because they paid for all the other stuff and I do have a warranty even if it doesn’t cover everything I don’t have a case.
Please anyone help me or guide me where to go. I am a single mother who wanted to reward myself with a foreign new car and has been given nothing but hell and not one person at BMW Palm Springs has even bothered to fix this situation. I have spoken with the General manager Bob, used sales manager Vanesha and nothing has happened. Now I have to resort to trying to buy another car because the car has since been pulling as I try excel, I just want to know who I can speak and to warn any purchasing a used car from this lot. If you are not buying a brand new car they don’t car once you have pulled off the lot. I have yet to hear from BMW of USA who I emailed my concerns back in February and still nothing, I guess I didn’t spend enough money so my concerns don’t matter.

Warranty Nightmare!!!! Almost 40 days in this loaner. I purchased a 2019 BMW from Carmax in September 2023 and 4 months later coolant is leaking everywhere (Haven't even made it to my 1st oil change yet). So I take it to Carmax and let them know the issue and without even checking the car out they tell me to take it to BMW. I get to BMW and let them know what's going on and that I Purchased a warranty from Carmax and they said no problem. (Bella **) Told me to call the warranty company to see if it's covered and I did just that.
Warranty company let me know that parts and labor were covered and to have BMW send over the Paperwork. I let BMW know and weeks go by with no response. So I called maybe 20 times, left messages BMW but no one returned my calls so I drove back up to BMW of Alexandria and talked to the service adviser (Bella **) and she told me that the warranty will only cover part of the labor hours and I would have to foot the bill for the rest after telling me that it was fully covered and I'll only have to pay my deductible.
Also let me know that they need their loner back for "Paying Customers." I went a step further by asking to speak to the service manager but was directed to the service director (Steve **) and he stated that I had the loaner too long and would have to bring it back and pick my car up. I talked to the GM (Omar **). I didn't understand why how it was my fault for having the loaner too long and they had my car and didn't communicate with me until I asked to speak to the service manager of the dealership and he was no help at all. When I let him know how the customer service was he said I stand behind my "Service Department" I said no problem! And told him I would just come get my car and drop their loaner off. Horrible Miscommunication, poor customer service, if I could give this dealership "0" stars I definitely would without a question.
They would call me every few days to bring the loaner to the dealership to inspect it, but won't return my calls concerning the service I'm getting on my car. I've been in this Loaner for almost 40 days now, the loaner is too small (BMW 330) compared to my BMW X3. I can't fit my equipment in the loaner so I'm losing money with my business I have. I've been humble the whole time.
BMW Group was no help neither when I let them know how the customer service was, they also said "We stand behind the service department." I was and through the whole process and tried to communicate effectively. Please skip this dealership and drive a few miles to another one. When I tell you they're rude oh wow! They don't even start off nice! Once you walk into the dealership that's when it starts. Very unprofessional.

To all potential buyers of BMW vehicles under the BMW Military Sales Program overseas, As a 6x BMW vehicle owner, I now must question my long-time (22 years) loyalty and committed to the brand. To all who are thinking about purchasing a BMW via military sales and having service performed at the BMW dealership Vicenza, Italy. I would consider all options - other auto maker's military sales programs before committing to BMW as they do not honor the routine cyclic maintenance/service (you paid for when purchasing the vehicle via military sales) i.e., oil service on U.S. specification vehicles. All cycle maintenance must be paid out of pocket vice under warranty in the U.S. Further, BMW Corporate, Military Sales Program or Dealership, Vicenza are reluctant in taking responsibility for faulty workmanship.
Case/Point: M4 Competition purchased via military sales program; within months of receiving vehicle, leather on door handles began to peel; stitching on seats were problematic; constant squeaking brakes (when applying) and rattling in the dash. Clearly a lack of quality control and craftsmanship/workmanship problem from the factory!
Concerns of workmanship on interior/exterior were brought to the attention of BMW a few months (via email and dealership eyes on) after receiving vehicle. BMW Vicenza acknowledged concerns and committed to fixing the problems and in the replacement of both door panels in writing via email and under warranty. Replacement of passenger side panel was completed in Dec 2023 and left side replacement panel was on order as of 21 Feb 23 (per dealership email).
Now, I am told that they will not replace driver side panel because it is "too expensive" and that according to HQ, Corporate BMW, Munich - the interior driver and passenger leather peal to door handles is caused by "external agents." I find this hard to believe as the interior seats/panels never received a cleaning agent from date of receipt to present (18 Mar 24). I purposefully did not apply anything to the seats or have anyone sit in the passenger or back seats because I new that the panels / seats would be tested to determine the cause of leather peal on the door handles and the faulty stitching of the front and rear seats. So, if their assessment is correct, that the damage to door handles is due to external agents, it is due to the internal contaminants of the facility and of their detailer applying product to the interior of the vehicle after a long-term maintenance period.
Further, as vehicle has been in the shop more times that I can count on two hands due to rattling in the dash, squeaking brakes etc. on each occasion, I have checked the BMW app (snapped photo in real time) for status of vehicle. Each time, vehicle doors and convertible top remained opened days on end resulting in contaminants within the maintenance facility to enter and settle on the interior of the vehicle. As a result, I have had the car dealership detail the interior in its entirety twice.
As for the seat stitching - dealership said it was normal (pictures attached); I’ll let you decide! As for the constant (when applying) squeaking brakes, it is normal for a $100K vehicle; as for the rattling in the dash, still problematic – constant. Going in for the same problem again – this will make the 4th or 5th time in for the problem. As a concerned consumer, do your due diligence; weigh the pros and cons before making your next purchase via military sales overseas and having the vehicle remain in the overseas environment long-term until your Permeant Change of Station back to the U.S. Concerned owner.

This is for the SERVICE DEPARTMENT. My 2018 BMW 750Ix (43k miles) was on limp-home mode, I took to the service department without digging into the codes myself. They diagnosed the following needed replacement: injectors #1 and #5 (quoted $3402), wastegate actuator #2 ($2055) and all spark plugs ($707). They bid all three jobs separately (which includes removing all covers, gaining access) when all three jobs were in the same region, for a cumulative MINIMUM price of $6164 plus taxes.
Injector #5 was fine, didn't need replacement, only #1 did (obvious, as only plug #1 was fouled, all others were fine). Tech misdiagnosed #5 due to misfires, that were caused by the original coil packs needing replacement. I bought $1200 worth of parts, worked on car 12 hours, and it's now PERFECT. One of their techs could have done the job done in <8 hours, even taking their time and a long lunch break ($1200 labor). If they charged DOUBLE the price on parts from what I got, $2400, you'd STILL get a total bill of LESS than $4k. I can't address their sales team, but I can say with absolute certainty that their service department will happily rip your face off, without compunction. Better to use Dubbles or somebody else. Go to the bimmer forums, you can research the fact that hundreds and hundreds of other people are having the same problem that I am.
BMW has advised me to stop driving my car, but this is my only car and I have to get to work to pay bills like everyone else. Seems like BMW doesn't really care about a situation like this unless something deadly does in fact happen. It shouldn't come to that. And a car manufacturer should care more about the people that are driving the vehicles that it makes rather than making a dollar. If anyone wants to contact me with questions I can provide pictures and videos and notarized statements from BMW saying that they can't fix this problem even though it's a software update or a sensor replacement or completely new dash..... Title: Experiencing a Nightmarish Customer Service Encounter with BMW – A Superbly Negative Review.
I recently encountered a significant issue with my leased BMW vehicle, and I feel compelled to share what can only be described as a nightmarish experience with BMW’s customer service. Despite the brand’s longstanding reputation for luxury and quality, my recent interaction has left me profoundly dissatisfied. Upon raising a legitimate concern about the tires on my BMW, I expected a prompt and considerate response. Unfortunately, what I received was far from it. The proposed resolution – a mere $400 off a new set of tires – felt like a token gesture, completely inadequate given the premium nature of BMW vehicles.
Adding to the disappointment was the apparent lack of concern for customers who invest in additional packages, such as the tire and wheel protection plan. Despite having this coverage, the response to wear and tear on tires with only 19,000 miles was shockingly unsatisfactory. The customer service experience conveyed an unsettling sense of indifference, prompting serious doubts about whether BMW truly values its customers. This horrible experience on a leased vehicle, a situation where customer satisfaction should be paramount, has further eroded my trust in the brand.
In light of this superbly negative encounter, I am compelled to reconsider my future choices in luxury vehicles. I believe in transparent and customer-centric interactions, and unfortunately, my recent experience with BMW fell egregiously short of those expectations. This review serves as a cautionary tale for potential BMW enthusiasts and a plea for the brand to seriously reevaluate and improve its customer service practices. The negative impact of this encounter is undeniable, and I sincerely hope that this feedback prompts meaningful changes for the benefit of future customers.

The BMW i4 35 I bought in 2023 august, when I purchased this vehicle from The BMW company dealer in Toronto, 11 Sunlight Park Rd, ON M4M 1B5 I purchased this EV vehicle thinking it was the best vehicle in the market. The vehicle design is luxury and drives smooth. Only problem is after the 2 months of driving it stopped on the exit of a highway. Stopped moving and I didn't see any warnings or other inductions. When I called BMW road assistance, they took the vehicle to the dealer to service and they told me that the vehicle has a coolant leaking issue and it would take 1 month to fix. Then I called them and complained about the vehicle saying that I want to change the vehicle because of this issue but they responded saying that they couldn't switch the vehicle for me and said it was good to drive and clearly saying there was no problem when there was a problem.
When the weather temperatures goes down after -5 the battery range is very low compared to what BMW said even with the temperature drops. They said on the website and the service people said it drive to 444km winter time 20% less than that around like 350km but right now I'm getting a range of 100% of charge 250km which is off the margin from what they said. Now I called BMW Canada they said 80% I will get 250km but this is 100% not true since I'm reaching 250km for full charge. Then I took the vehicle to the dealer and they said, "We can't do anything about the vehicle," and this is perfectly fine and this is what I get which is false advertisement.
Then also I gave the sales manager to give the vehicle to drive and look at the range. He said I will get 300-320 range fully charged but that was also in the paperwork or anything and was false. Nowhere in the website I see those details to see Canadian lowered temperatures range specifications. Even they didn't tell me what the lowest range I'll be getting, they only told me 350km but that was not true. Right now I would like to switch my car but they don't want to switch because they know the vehicle price changed because of the market and it's no good.
The sales manager said that I have to see an lawyer to fix this issue with switching the vehicle. I took the vehicle back onto the road with 100% charge. After everything I'm only getting 240-250km and then I try to charge the vehicle in Mississauga area. There is not many places to charge this vehicle. There is a lot of EV charger I can charge but I have to wait minimum 8 hours for it to charge. They told me that I can charge on even tesla chargers but the charger does not fit for BMW. Then I found the EV charger in 2-3 other places but they are out of order for this BMW and finally when I went to shell to charge the car there was 2 people in line waiting for them to complete and once it was my turn to charge it took 41 min to get to 70%.
The next day I went to another branch of BMW in aurora. They said they don't make adapters for tesla use but at the same time I called my salesman and he said I can use the same charger and told me that, "If that's an issue you can find it online aftermarket." Now I don't know why I still am stuck with this vehicle in cold weather and don't know what I can do still even though the temp outside hasn't reached that bad it still gives low range amount. Wondering how much it would decrease if it was colder. I just want a correct solution for this issue. For those people getting the EV BMW i4 35 highly recommend that you not get the vehicle and if you are planning to get it clarify with the sales people about this issue because I'm still fight for this issue.

In June 2023, we acquired a pristine 2024 BMW X6 with zero mileage. However, our ownership experience took an unexpected turn when, at around 6000 miles, the car experienced a complete breakdown on December 20, 2024, during my morning commute. Preceding this, there was a disconcerting loud banging noise, reminiscent of someone striking the engine with a hammer. Seeking assistance, we promptly contacted Southpoint BMW. Following their guidance, we had the vehicle towed to Southpoint BMW, a considerable distance of an hour and a half from our residence.
Upon reaching out to Southpoint, we learned that insights into the car's issues would be available once a diagnostic evaluation could be conducted, initiating the opening of a help ticket with BMW on December 28, 2023. Subsequently, we received disheartening news— the vehicle's engine was malfunctioning, and the cause remained unknown. The proposed solution was to replace the entire engine of this ostensibly brand-new vehicle.
We expressed our dissatisfaction to Southpoint BMW that accepting a brand-new vehicle requiring a complete engine replacement with less than 6000 miles was unacceptable, anticipating irreparable repercussions on the car's future performance and reliability. This situation has led us to question whether the vehicle is a lemon or indicative of a defective product.
Acknowledging our concerns, Southpoint BMW assured us of their understanding and committed to presenting viable options for resolution. Among these options are potential avenues like a buyback or repurchase of a new vehicle, aimed at addressing the inconvenience and restoring our confidence in the product. Southpoint BMW's reluctance to address the issue fairly raises concerns about its commitment to ethical business practices, suggesting a focus on financial interests over customer satisfaction. This prompts a closer examination of the dealership's balance between profit motives and customer-centric values.

But the representative in the service center claimed that the part wasn’t completely broken down and couldn't be replaced within warranty. Last Saturday (11/25/2023) the car couldn’t start suddenly again on the way home and I had to call BMW road service to tow the car to the service center. I was told the battery and engine starter was broken down and needed to be replaced.
The engine starter broke down within 5 years with 51k miles of car makes me believe it is a manufacturing defect and the expenses should be reimbursed by BMW. When using Car Play with any recent BMW models, i.e. 2022 M550i, Car Play fails and it drops the device from Bluetooth, and in some cases, you will have to shutdown/restart the car to bring the device back online. So… When on a two-way call in Car Play and you add a third person and conference this person into the call, the call continues to work perfectly fine. However, if someone else tries to call you, the call doesn’t make it through and from the caller’s perspective, it appears you are sent straight to voicemail and/or the call is rejected. It immediately shows on the car’s display screen that a call is missed. This goes on probably 2-3-4 more times until that person just thinks they’re being completely ignored. Trust me, my wife doesn’t like it.
While still on that conference call in Car Play mode, I then attempt to call that person back and my device is dropped from Car Play altogether; forcing me now to continue that call in handheld mode. This is no good in many states where handsfree is required and the law. I noticed this 2-3 weeks after purchasing my beautiful M550i and brought it to the attention of the dealership, and I was ridiculed and told I was doing something wrong. I then tried the same in a Prius and it worked fine. I also tried a Ford Explorer, Jaguar F-Pace, Mercedes S-500, and a Lexus. No issues at all. I then called BMW and got into it with their customer advocacy team and was told there were no issues. I finally went back to the same dealership and we tried 2 more brand new BMWs from the show floor. We tried an M-5 and an X-3. They all showed the same problem.
I finally received a text message from my Sales Person telling me that the issue was known within BMW and that they were not going to do anything about it because no one else is complaining. My real reason for wanting this to work is because I wanted a semi high performance vehicle that looked good and was powerful on the road. I’m also in high-end technical sales and with being more and more remote in the post-pandemic era, customers want to be more virtual than ever. The fact that BMW acknowledges the problem and doesn’t care to fix it is embarrassing when compared to a 20k used Toyota Prius where Car Play works perfectly fine and with no issues. The issue was so prevalent that I hardly drive the car and just this past week, I sold it back to the dealership. The car is truly an awesome and fun car to drive, but for almost 90k, I expected it to perform better. The car was my office on the road and it was a disappointment.
Shame on you BMW! If a Prius can do it, so can you. The issue is software related and can be fixed. Your total lack of customer service and complacent ways in that your cars are great, which they are, and not wanting to fix is a shame. With current high inflation and a slower economy, all consumers should be aware of what they will encounter when buying a new BMW.

I am leasing a BMW X5 50e for less than a month. From a ride quality, comfort and performance, the car is awesome. For all the rest, it is just terrible. After 2 weeks, the car needed to be towed to the dealer: engine malfunction preventing any type of driving. The roadside assistant experience was not better. I kept getting conflicting messages (e.g., one agent explaining to me that BMW Assist and BMW Roadside Assistance are not the same thing). The car was towed to a BMW dealership and after inspection, they had to contact BMW head to figure out how to resolve the issue. It was then determined that the combined charging unit needs to be replace (after less than 500 miles…).
That part is in back order and hence, I am looking at a minimum of 2 weeks of wait time for the issue to be resolved. The dealership also told me that for such cases (backorders), there is a policy in place that prevents them from providing me a loaner car. The best they could do was rent something for me, which they did a day later. The rented car that they provided me with has a value that is less than 1/4 of the car that BMW is leasing to me.
I had other issues recently with an X5 45e, also leased with water leaking from the sunroof twice. The first time, I was blamed for it and had to pay out of pocket for a leased vehicle fully under warranty as I was blamed for now having cleaned the drainage system, despite servicing the car completely with BMW dealers during the entire life of the vehicle. After paying for this, the sunroof leaked again after a week or so, prompting me to bring the car back to the same dealership. This time, they cleaned the system again - free of charge. I thought that I was just unlucky with this X5 45e and made the mistake of replacing it for this X5 50e. What I did not realize is that it was only be the beginning of the nightmare. Enough evidence for me to seriously question the build, reliability, quality and service of these X5 models.

Brand new 2023 BWM X5 had a noise when steering after just 2 months of leasing it. The brand new SUV had to be in the dealer for one month while they ordered the steering rack part from Germany. If this part fails, you lose steering. I Googled about this issue and the 2020 model have had the same issue/tendency. We were given a stained rental followed by an old loaner. After finally retrieving the SUV, we were told there would be no courtesy credit for being without the brand new SUV for a month and paying the high lease amount. We appealed, but were told they couldn't do anything. Not even a $100 courtesy credit.
They offered one detailing but there was a stubborn stain on the hood when we got it back. It was spotless when we took it in. It was at the dealer for a whole month so I can only think it was stained from a tree or bird. I had to use compound several times and was not about to drive the car back for any cleaning from this dealer. We drove to the dealer, which is not that close, about 4 times. Once to take it in and get the stained rental, once to exchange it for an old loaner, once to show them about the noise cause they couldn't emulate it (the car has to be running for a while for the issue to manifest), and once again to finally pick it up with the hood stain. Never again due to unacceptable quality as well as disappointing service experience.

From thereon began a series of nightmares with no communication from BMW assistance, until I called them on Saturday morning to check the status of the car and courtesy car. After a series of calls, I found that the car had been handed over to BMW Thames Ditton and I would need to call Enterprise to get a courtesy car. After that there was a series of calls between BMW assistance and BMW Thames Ditton having to plead to get the courtesy car and check for the status on my car.
Finally, after a lot of imploring, I was provided with assistance in getting a courtesy vehicle but had no status on the vehicle still. With bank holiday, Tuesday was spent chasing BMW Thames Ditton continuously to get status on the vehicle. BMW assistance refused to help as they said that this was now ownership with the dealer. Finally, at 6PM someone at the dealership found that BMW assistance had sent the car to the wrong place and should have updated the system to get this corrected. They agreed to get the tire changed but were unwilling to assist any further.
One of the reasons for buying a BMW was that being a reputable brand, one thing I would be assured of was good customer service. However, with this entire experience and the appalling service that I was provided, I feel totally let down and have lost complete faith in this brand. Given my recent experience, I have decided that I will not continue with BMW after the end of this contract. The Dealership has told me that water damage leaked through the console and damaged the sensor that will activate the airbags, and that this would not be covered under warranty and it resulted from water damage and the repair cost is $2,500. I have taken impeccable care of this car. Other than a minor spill that would have been wiped up immediately, there has been no water damage to the vehicle. I live in Colorado, an incredibly dry climate.
There is clearly a design defect with this vehicle if water can get to an airbag sensor ... in less than a year of this car being on the road. So beware, I have raised this with BMW North America and so far they are NOT taking responsibility. If I repair this sensor, how would I know it won't happen again next month? OR what if the next sensor is as shoddily made as this one .. and goes bad and I don't get the sensor notice, and the airbags stop working. Overall, to buy a new car and have something like this happen outside of warranty is beyond my imagination. BMW, unfortunately after supporting the brand since 1979, 10 cars, has turned in to a most unethical manufacturer. I have an X5 that at <14,000 miles showed what has been identified by Pensky BMW certified collision shop as solvent popping, 100% created by the manufacturer by not letting the solvents of the under laying paints properly cure before sealing with the clear coat. There is absolutely nothing anyone could do to create these defects under the clear coat, which is smooth, shiny and 100% intact. There are what appear as appx 100 tiny sand marks in the paint, under the clear. The issue was explained to me as being created at the paint application process, in some cases will not show up for a few years after new car inspection. The hood and top need to be sanded down and painted properly.
BMW refuses to add any customer assistance, $4666 repair. Now I understand issues happen out of our control, it’s the quality of the company you do business with as to how these issues are handled, BMW is showing their colors. Eventually the problem got worse and I took it to get checked, they replace the caliper and drain the brake fluid. It worked for a days, but the problem persisted and it got worse. Got it checked again and seems that the DSC Hydro Unit has failed. Still no error codes. To replace the Hydro Unit, the dealer is charging over 4K for the part plus labor on top of that. The Hydro Unit is in back order in Germany for 2 months. So now I am without a car and they are not offering a rental due to expired warranty. Is it even worth fixing? The dealer said most people won't due to cost. This is a common issue they see with BMWs.
So one would think how can an electronic part that is extremely important to the performance of the vehicle be made not to send the proper error code and warn you of the problem? Why is it so expensive and why is it common to brake? This is not only a major BMW design failure but a safety problem with the vehicle that I feel obligated to report to the National Highway Traffic Safety. If you're in the market for a fancy vehicle, you better look the other way and bypass this brand. I know I will and will make sure my family and friends do as well.

After that work, the car ran fine but this was unfortunate because a check engine light came on within two weeks. They acted so negligently that on the scheduled inspection day the public relation officer called me and told me that they didn't get an access of a car from insurance company as it was not communicated with them...Seriously? This shows how lightly they took the entire incident. In the end they wanted to offer me 2 month of lease payment and wanted me to buy or lease new BMW and sign a contingency not to disclose this information to NHSTA or any other places including social media. I declined their charity and chose to go out in public to educate them not to go for BMW brand. It is a known issue of BMW that their cars go on fire lot more frequently than any other manufacturers.
DO NOT BUY BMW...THEY ARE VERY PATHETIC IN CUSTOMER SERVICE AS WELL AS PUBLIC SAFETY. SPREAD THESE WORDS OUT TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE AS I CAN'T SUE THEM AS NY STATE LAW DOES NOT HOLD THEM RESPONSIBLE BECAUSE NO PERSON WAS INJURED PHYSICALLY. IF YOU NEED ANY OTHER INFORMATION ABOUT HOW BMW IS BEING SUED THEN GOOGLE HOW THEY'RE BEING SUED IN SOUTH KOREA AND IT WILL SHOW UP...

I have a 2020 BMW M4 Convertible. My vehicle has 8,000 miles on it and the brakes are warped and shuttering. My horrible BMW dealership (HENDRICKS BMW CHARLESTON) won't cover it because there is a white paper out on it. They said since I don't beat the car up, this will happen to the brakes. They said the M4 is meant to be raced and beat up...so not an everyday driver. I pushed thing up to BMW, and after promising to check on helping out and get back to me in 5 days. I gave them 3 weeks and still no call back, so I called them and found out they will not cover either.
If you know how thick the rotors are on an M4, it's hard to believe that they are warped after 8,000 miles. This to me is a definitely defect. Bottom line is BMW is not service oriented anymore. What is really funny is I was just in the process of purchasing an X7 for my wife, and immediately cancelled the order. There are plenty of other car manufacturers out there without dealing with this. I will NEVER buy a BMW again.
As a side note. BMW was going to charge me 2100 to resurface rotors and replace brake pads. Just terrible when a company that used to be great is worse than Chevrolet. I quit buying Lexus for a 10 year period because of horrible customer service, and how they dealt with me at the end of a lease. BMW is a horrible company for folks that like blowing their money for nothing. I have owned 6 BMW's and this truly is the end of my relationship. They truly aren't doing the right thing and I'm certainly not going to have a business relationship with a company that doesn't do the right thing or backup their products and looks for ways to get out of support. My complaint is in regards to how BMW handled a known issue with their Footwell Module 3 (ie FRM component). I recently purchased a used 2010 335i. While out Christmas shopping the car would not start. We had AAA tow it to one of their repair facilities. Their diagnosis determined the starter had died. After installation of the new starter, the repair shop was unable to get the windows back up. Upon further diagnosis they suspected an issue with the FRM module (which controls things like blinkers, wipers, automatic windows, etc). We then had the car towed to a local BMW dealership who confirmed the FRM was bad. Apparently, simply reconnecting the car battery which AAA had disconnected to do the starter replacement caused something in the FRM to get "fried".
My issue with this situation is that both AAA and the BMW dealer were aware of an issue with the FRM module in this model year BMW. BMW itself was also aware of the issue and offered a 10yr 150k mile limited warranty on a replacement. While my car is well below the mileage limit, it was just past the year limit and so BMW would not do anything to help with the cost of a new FRM. With parts and labor the new part was $1200.
With other car brands I've had, when there is a KNOWN issue with a part, the car company issues a recall and fixes the issue at no cost to the owner. This is what BMW should have done with this FRM issue. It was a known issue to the company (caused by something other than normal wear and tear like with my starter) and should have been replaced for me -- if not for free, at least with some kind of discount.

How many of you guys have had to replace your door handles on your BMW X5 from the year 2005 to 2008? How many of you had to replace your windows and how many times have you had to do it? There's a defect - very very bad defective thing in their door handles to the point where they will break and you cannot get in or out of your vehicle. Also with the windows they will fall all the way into your car like they're not like it's not heavy enough to hold it. Okay it's a shame that all of us have had to go through this and we repair it and we don't ever do anything about it. If I would have known that I wouldn't have purchased it. I can't get in my car from the outside at all without going through a window after breaking my car every time I want to drive it.
It's a BMW X5 2005. That's a shame. Should no luxury vehicle have a handle broke on a car. I've never met or seen a car that had a broken door handle or is that the windows just fall down into it like the wires are not heavy enough. But BMW does not want to admit that it's a defect. I don't know why there's no class action lawsuit but I will warn you do not buy yourself a BMW X5. The handles will break and you will repair them all of them. You will not be able to get into your car okay. Don't even do it. It's not even worth it their alternators. The car goes through alternators like it's going out of style. Every time you turn around you'll be buying a new alternator because the oil sticks into the alternator. These BMWs are highly defective mostly all of them. I don't know nobody who hasn't repaired a door handle. Do not buy one of these.

Still baffles how the slightest of puddles can create a undesirable impact on the chassis and drive nerve racking to avoid the same. Wonder what the future holds with mechanical engineering. Distractions as we speak on tech lost in word and thought. The face lift and profile of the vehicle models would make it less aggressive (the grill) and attract the buyers. I have never had a worse experience in purchasing a new car than from Schomp BMW (Highlands Ranch, CO). Sales people were warm and friendly but management and the quality of the car was terrible. The day I took the car off the lot, check engine light came on. Called my sales rep and he asked me to bring the car in to get it reviewed and fixed. Two weeks later, I got the car back. One week after that, engine light came on, yet again. Same as before, waited two weeks to get the car back. I was hoping this was the end of it. One day later, check engine light. At this point, I was incredibly frustrated and concerned that I bought a lemon given its been in the shop 3 times with less than 400 miles on the car.
Asked Schomp BMW to provide an extended warranty given how many times I had to bring it back into the shop for repairs. Management was willing to look into the warranty and mentioned they would go "to bat" for me. They also asked if I would be willing to pay another $1K for the warranty if needed and wanted to "manage expectations". I said absolutely not given the number of issues I have had with the brand new car. They called me back a couple days later and said they could provide the warranty if I pay $2K. That's double what they initially told me! You don't set the anchor price in one conversation and then double it in another. That's Sales 101.
I ended up giving the car back to Schomp and getting a refund. It's a bummer. I really liked the car and was also working with the Sales rep on purchasing another vehicle. They are playing the short game and lost a long-term customer as I will never buy a BWM or another car from a Schomp dealership. What a terrible experience.

The warranty does not cover the motor mount however, after only 30K miles, the part must be defective. Furthermore, the cost was quoted as close to $1500. BMW customer service, after speaking with the dealer negotiated the cost down to $600+. I told the BMW rep that it was still not acceptable and would he send me the details of his conversation with me to my Email.
I wished to pursue the matter. He said that was not possible! I could not appeal the decision and that was final. I rarely have been spoken to in such a manner as if I were an errant school girl. My wife and I purchased a 2014 BMW X3 xDrive 28i in August of 2014. The car we chose was a certified preowned car, meaning it had low mileage and additional inspections/warranties applied. We purchased the car with about 7k miles on it and it was a good car for the first few years we owned it. In the last year, we needed to replace several expensive items including the oil gasket, most of which cost upwards of $1k plus.
The final straw was the transmission dying. My wife was on her way home from the store when the vehicle gave her a "Drive Train Malfunction" warning and urged her to pull over and stop the vehicle. Once stopped, the vehicle would no longer allow itself to be shifted out of park. We managed to get it on a flatbed tow truck and then to a repair center. The repair center diagnosed a faulty transmission which baffled them as the car has less than 90k miles on it and had been maintained fully by BMW certified techs. The fact remained, however, that it was indeed the transmission that would need replaced.
If we had decided to go this route, the cost would be roughly $6k and a month of time if we went with a third party repair or closer to $9k if we went with a dealership. The car at this point in its life is worth roughly $10k, so neither repair is worth it. So essentially, we're left with a very heavy paperweight that we now must dispose of. I've had low end beater variety Mazda's last twice as long as this "luxury" vehicle. I will not be purchasing again and will be warning anyone I can get to listen to me off of BMWs going forward.

I have had a love affair with BMW since the mid 1990's, however I'm sorry to say that relationship is on the rocks. Having had 3 brand new BMW cars and one new BMW motorcycle I can now say that "BMW quality" is no longer a corporate mandate, just a slogan. What was once (with proper care) a vehicle that you could rely on, be proud of and enjoy has become the brand of "what next". I say this as my X3 sits in a service bay to replace the drivers side mirror which fell off! $1300 To replace something not broken not damaged but the latest in a long line part failures that was preceded by a motorcycle that I literally had to throw away.
WHAT? Yes a 2003 R1200C with less than 12000 miles stored in my hanger that in 2014 turned into junk because of cheap manufacturing processes, poor quality wiring and metal plating that literally fell off. Sound familiar, among exterior body reflectors and interior parts that have fallen off or delaminated on the X3 the one that has convinced me is the drivers door handle that is slowly turning into black goop and when I showed it to the service writer he said and I quote "On the earlier models you had to replace the entire door panel".... As I said in the beginning not worth the money, because you are paying for quality that is no longer there.

I’m writing to complain about how BMW Financial Services demonstrated disrespect and completely disregard for a potential client time and money. I’ve been a client of AUDI and Mercedes without any issues whatsoever and my recent experience with BMW is the complete opposite. I applied for a lease assumption REF number ** my first email being on July 10th. I sent an individual application mentioning I wanted to do it under my business instead which I mentioned to your current client.
After not receiving any answer from BMW your client made contact by phone asking them to send him the business form, which he forwarded me. I promptly filled the form and sent it back to the assumptions team, no answer again. I called every other day to check and the customer service had nothing to say but to ask me to call again on a later date. I resent the form by email and fax and called again since I had no answer from the assumptions team again. This time I was informed that they received and were reviewing it, but there was an issue with my SSN issuance date. The solution proposed was for me to send a copy of my social security card by email (very secure by the way) which I ended up doing.
This cycle (SSN issue) repeated 3 times, with many hours of phone calls to the customer service because the assumptions team was not able to answer a single email (0 of 8) that I sent, not even to acknowledge receipt the first time. After the 3rd time I’ve got the same answer from customer service (SSN issuance date issue) I asked to escalate to a supervisor since clearly the assumptions team was not doing their job even after I complied with their request (SS card by email), but to my surprise, or perhaps I shouldn’t be surprise with anything anymore the customer service told me there was no supervisor to escalate the issue to.
While I was still trying to solve this I told your current client to search for another person to take over his lease since I didn’t know how long it would take to get it done. The conclusion to this is that I received 2 letters denying my application (individual and business), ended up with hard inquiry in my credit report and $500 in fees which I was told there was a refund if the application was denied. What intrigues me the most is the world is going through a terrible situation, there’s a lot of people unemployed and the ones that are employed at BMW Financial Services probably shouldn’t be there. What is the kind of client BMW seeks? I wonder since I have a 770 credit score (it’s in your letter REF **).

3. The battery is dead permanently, the error signal was on when I purchased it originally, but the sales told me it will be back to normal after couple days driving. But after 1 week driving, the battery error signal is still there, and need to be replaced.
4. The rubber seal on the front end hook is coming out, and looks really ugly and do not match the BMW brand at all.
5. The auto lock is not function at all. After enabling this feature, the auto lock still not working at all. This feature is very normal one on any premium brand car back to 5+ year ago. I personally own another Acura and Tesla, all of cars have this function and there is no problems to use such function in the past 3 years.
6. All of the cellphone app remote control function is not working on my car. I cannot lock/unlock/flash/horn the car via the phone app.
I drop off the car 5 calendar days (4 business) ago. And service department is still working on it, from the time it took, I can definitely tell this is not a small issue. Since the service adviser told me, replacing a new battery will only cost them half business day. So for sure, there is a huge defective on this brand new X7 car. They are refusing to refund my money even though at this point I can’t have the protectant applied because the car is so damaged. Essentially bmw doesn’t care about their customers. Also, called local dealerships (Norwood, MA) for a scheduled oil change and to handle the recalls. I can't get into to the dealership till about 3 weeks later with a loaner. If I had a cheaper: Toyota, Honda, Nissan, that definitely is not the case. Those dealers can accommodate in a few days. It is not a trustworthy car at all. It is not a trustworthy car at all - put me in a near-death situation. I just about avoided a major accident due to a manufacturing fault with timing chain which should last for 200,000 miles (BMW's claim) and my car has only done less than 68000 miles. This was brought to the attention of BMW before the incident but they are trying to hide behind corporate "write-right".
It is generally accepted that, for all cars, timing chain should last for the lifetime of the engine. This is a known issue associated with the N42/N43 engine (fitted in models between 2007 to 2011 which my 3 series is from). Even though timing chains are supposed to last a lifetime, clearly this seems to be well known issue with BMW engines and they are well aware of it. We were not aware of it until it was brought to our attention by an external mechanic after taking the car to their garage due to some warning lights. Please note we had taken this to a BMW approved service centre before taking it to an external garage and this was not diagnosed property by BMW approved mechanics (Cooper BMW Cobham to be precise).
I informed BMW directly about this issue and also highlighted the fact that the brakes were becoming stiff. They ignored this to a point where the brakes got extremely stiff and nonworkable, suddenly on my way to home with my 5 year old child. Realising this, somehow with all my strength pulled the car to a nearby shopping place, driving crazily. The recovery man checked the car and found the brakes to be so stiff. He asked me, "Do you know you would have ended up in a tragic accident, you are very lucky!"
After the incident, I am still stressed with very little sleep at night. I could not believe that my son and I narrowly escaped a tragic accident. It is unfortunate that neither BMW or the Cooper Cobham, warned me of the health and safety risks involved despite bringing this issue to their attention. They dragged things in the name of diagnosis to be carried out. As this was a known fault, they should have straightway made arrangements for my car to be checked and remedied at their expense.
This also reminded me of BMW's electrical failure issue which lead to a fatality and made a lot of press (Narayan Gurung case). In this case, BMW was highly criticised for not recalling cars and putting customers lives at risk. It is saddening to know that these big business minded and money motivated people care so less about precious lives of people. I am not allowed to link the article here but if you google Narayan Gurung road death you will find many articles including reporting on Court criticising BMW.
I have taken this matter further with BMW. Even after letting them know of the nearly death accident, they are ignoring it and dragging things in the name of diagnosis. The car is with the garage since Thursday and to date they have not carried out any diagnosis. It is extremely unfortunate that BMW is ignoring such a serious matter. There are more to this story including some crucial evidences, which I am keeping hold of at the moment as I may have to take the matter legally if BMW continues to ignore me despite the seriousness of the matter. But if you are in similar situation, please get in touch as I am happy to share those with you.
I am not a car savvy but I have done a lot of research after I found out about manufacturing fault with my car which I use to meet my day to day needs. I am uploading this here so that people are aware of this and am pretty sure there are other BMW users in similar or same situation. I am a person who stand for justice and I am not going to leave it like this. I will keep you all updated of BMW's response to this issue and whether they resolve this at their cost.

10 minutes later BMW RSA calls me back and say that T & T towing is refusing to return my vehicle because of my review. (Second sign they don't care) why would you call me. I don’t know them. YOU (BMW) chose them to tow my car. So if you are saying they won’t return it then my car is stolen at this point. Another Hour goes by no car. I now get the police involved and T & T towing decides to bring back my car. It is now 12am the next day.
I called BMW to schedule a pickup for the next morning for 7:30-8am so they can get it because I go to work. I make over $90,000 per year so I can definitely afford the car, my credit score is 759 but I don’t have any of the 4 car I had prior showing on my credit report because that was 10 years ago. So with that being said I applied for the car on my own. I make $90,000, 759 Score, outstanding debt. Less than $2000. This should be no problem. I paid the $543 transfer and app fee to be declined with no logical explanation. Took them less than a minute to make that rash decision but kept $143 of the $543 so I went and got a co-signer not a person a corporation that co-signs for people. That’s the business they are in. Now BMW is telling them it’s too expensive of a car. I should get something cheaper which is beyond ridiculous. I make enough to pay for this car and the backing of a corporate and that’s still not enough, but now they kept another $143 so they have a really nice scam going on. This is regarding my 16 months old BMW 5 series, RJ 14 CF 0999. As you can read the previous mails, I have been raising the concern for the quality of tyres since May 2018. That is within 4 months of purchase of a brand new 5 Series, luxury line BMW. The tyres installed in the car were Pirelli, and after 3rd incident of car tyre bursting, we took the matter to our nearest and purchase dealership, "SANGHI MOTORS" in January. We waited for the Sales Representative, Mr Ankit ** over there as he held the car between "24 December to 22 January," roughly for a period of 1 month for inspection and other undisclosed reasons. Finally when enough mails were ignored, I had to purchase an MRF tyre from the MRF dealer shop.
Meanwhile on 17th January we renewed the insurance for "Depreciation shield and Tyre and BMW secure." In March 2019, the front side car tyre bursted on the highway again leaving us, the owners, yet again stranded on the Highway for the 3rd time since the purchase. Again dusting off all the responsibilities, BMW Service executives maintained that the car was being driven in wrong conditions. Now despite taking all the necessary covers and insurances, I am unable to experience a satisfactory experience with BMW.
My family personally own cars Jaguar XJL, Porsche Cayenne, BMW X5, Audi A6, Range Rover Evoque, Mercedes ML 250, amongst our elite cars in our firm, M/s Gulshan Rai Jain II. Never have I experienced such substandard quality that the LIFE THREATENING conditions happen in these cars. The Pirelli tyres have been depreciated at 50% and 25%. Due to the bursting of substandard tyres the rims were also bent. "BMW Sanghi Motors" have depreciated the Rims at 20% and comfortably charged me that as well.
SUMMING UP. I am unable to understand why I am liable to pay for 4 substandard tyres and for 2 rims as well, when the car has not even completed 18,000 kms. If the tyre is substandard and is prone to bursting then the car will come on rims. And if the rims are also substandard, then the company should take action. Moreover if 4 isolated incidents of BURSTING OF CAR TYRES have happened and "BMW SANGHI CLASSIC" MAINTAINS THAT CAR HAS BEEN DRIVEN IN WRONG CONDITIONS. If BMW seriously believes that 4 times car tyre has been bursted due to driving conditions THEN I AM NOT AFRAID TO HIGHLIGHT THIS MATTER TO PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE TO BE JUDGED. I don't want to blame with insurance company, so please don't direct me towards them as they have no role in providing me substandard material in the first place.

I am not fully sure why BMW thinks they can get away with having faulty engines in over 500K cars for a seven year period but they're doing it. Now they want me to pay $4600 to fix something they knew was broken? That is utterly ridiculous. How is it that these major car companies can have recall after recall and not be reprimanded or mandated by law to sit a few months or years? Or even have quarterly inspections regarding the quality they're producing... I was almost killed in a car accident by a semi-truck when my engine stalled on the highway from 70 to 30 mph in under 2 seconds. All I can recall is hearing the screeching of the truck as it fishtailed behind me, not to rear end me. However, I must pay for it? Wow. As a veteran who served over 20+ years, that is a difficult pill to swallow. What's even worse is how BMW treats you after that.

I would like to share my disgust and aggravation with BMW Assist. Last night, after dropping my son off at soccer practice in South Florida, I placed my dog and my purse in the front seat of my BMW X5. I proceeded to close the door and walk over to the driver’s side. To my disbelief, all the doors were locked and my dog was stuck in a stifling hot vehicle. I called BMW Assist frantically, requesting that they open my door. They asked for all my information including my address, vehicle VIN, etc. The only information I was unable to provide them with was my enrollment date (as all the paperwork, along with my dog), was locked in my vehicle. I begged the woman to ask me any other security question. She said “sorry, I can’t help you”. I told her my dog was dying and suffocating in the vehicle. She said without this information she was unable to send a signal to my car. She was rude, unsympathetic and didn’t care about my dog’s well-being.
We called the police and the city sent a fire truck and policeman to assist in saving my dog’s life. Luckily, however, my son was able to sign into our account, from home, and retrieve the necessary information before the police needed to get involved. I was so upset that I called both BMW North America and BMW Assist. I was told that this was a security measure to avoid theft. I would rather my car be stolen than to lose a life. What would the woman have done if it were a baby? Let the baby die to avoid potential theft.
I am sorry, but I choose life over theft. I was also told that the woman could have opened the vents in my vehicle but never offered to do so. BMW Assist supervisor also told me that she should have informed me with an officer at hand, that she would be allowed to send a signal. Neither step was, however, taken. I am very fortunate that my dog is alive, but unfortunately from no assistance provided by BMW. This is unacceptable and procedures and policies should be established so that this never happens again.

I will never buy a BMW again. Overpriced and the quality is not present anywhere. Difficult to upkeep and customer service is nearly nonexistent at dealership AND corporate level. I bought a 320i and was so excited to run around with the BMW logo - until realized the logo was ALL I was getting. The car is subpar to my old Geo Metro from the 90s I had as a kid. NOT EXAGGERATING. As the first owner and the car is ONLY A YEAR OLD, it shouldn't have all the problems it's been having. I had to buy new tires (yes, that quickly) because they come with run flats which go bald quickly. To boot, I couldn't have my usual family friend replace them because I needed some special BMW tire bolt remover to get them off. Took forever to get this bolt remover because it didn't come with the car and I ended up missing a weekend trip because I felt unsafe driving on bald tires.
Engine stalls sometimes when first starting car in the a.m., door lock mechanism has broken a few times, and most of all: The car terrifies me on curvy roads on the freeway (can't have full control of the steering wheel during high speed curves on the freeway). I am terrified I'm going to die in this car - I've gone back to the dealer multiple times to tell them the steering wheel sticks on high speed turns and they only tell me they can't find the problem - because they aren't looking for it!!! They just want my money and care less about fixing this car under the warranty. And I can't afford to get another car while saddled with this one or ruin my credit by dumping it because I'm trying to buy a house. So I just avoid going far in this car or rent vehicles when I need to drive long distance. Ridiculous.
But wait! There's more! Every time I go make a payment online, the website is down or I'm being asked to authenticate my same device I always use. Beyond annoying. I have to call customer service to pay, which is always a 20 min wait because their site never works. So EVERYONE is calling in and I go thru that EVERY MONTH just to pay my hard earned money for a car I'm scared to drive! It has been a complete nightmare owning this car and BMW doesn't care. I have told my family if I die on any curvy roads to have the steering issue looked into and sue the daylights out of them. DO NOT BUY A BMW!

I’ve owned the vehicle about 14 months and it has had 2 engine malfunctions within one year. The vehicle just starts shaking and completely shuts off! Both times it happened in the freeway were cars are driving a constant speed of over 55 miles.
Luckily I was able to just merge to the side of the freeway without causing an accident. Very bad experience just thinking I could of put my kids in danger since the engine just shuts off out of nowhere. This last time we were stranded in the grapevine where there was no stores or gas station close by just waiting for the tow truck to arrive. Both times my car has been in service for over a week. I am trying to request a replacement for a car that is not faulty or if they can just reimburse me what I’ve paid for and return the vehicle. I am very disappointed. We thought that one of the best car makers were BMW and it has let me down especially for the price.

The diagnosed was the VVT motor and DME unit (Digital Motor Electronic) were bad and total replacement for parts and labor comes to $4,700. The mechanic informed me that he has seen this issue many times and normally happens at 90-100K miles and not 42K miles. The mechanic said I should call BMW of North America to see if they would reimburse the cost. BMW refused stating the car no longer under warranty. Each time that the vehicle would be picked up from service, within the day the same or new issue would occur. We even tried going to a different BMW dealership to see if we had better luck and my service advisor advised that I get rid of the car and there wasn’t anything else they can do. I finally contacted BMW North America and opened up a PUMA case. They claim to give me an update every week, yet I never get any updates. My personal favorites are now the run-flat tires that are on certain all-wheel-drive vehicles that require the replacement of all four tires should one of them be destroyed. I took my BMW 328i with 48,000 miles in to the BMW Birmingham service department on a Friday afternoon for a new battery. I was told by the service advisor that it needed coils, a new belt, belt tensioner, and some type of “boot” due to an oil leak. They quoted my over $2,000 for the repair. I told them I could not afford that much unexpected repair work and agreed to the battery and coils, which they said were a minimum to get the vehicle running properly at a cost of about $1,250.
I also told them that my 16-year-old daughter drives the vehicle to school (around 5-10 miles a day) and that I was having it repaired because she wanted to drive it to a school dance the following day. 10 days later and less than 100 miles following the $1,250 repair, the vehicle was towed to the private garage of a retired BMW technician due to a coolant leak. After he inspected the vehicle, he told me that there was nothing wrong other than the radiator hose clamp had been removed and slid down the hose at the heater core. This could be seen easily by a BMW technician. He repaired the vehicle by reconnecting the hose/hose clamp and replacing the coolant.
I called Birmingham BMW 6 times without a return call over a 10 day period and went by the dealership in-person once to speak with them about my issue and no one would talk with me. When I asked to speak with a manager and for a business card for the manager I was told that everyone was in a meeting and that they did not give out business cards. I persisted for a contact in writing for management and the wrote a name and number on a post-it note.
I shared this with BMW of North America and asked for help contacting the dealership. I received a call from a service advisor the following day, who proceeded to make excuses when I shared my concerns then he transferred me to a service manager who acted in disbelief when I told him what happened to me. I shared my concern that the service department was pushy about the need for service with urgency to do it quickly before something broke and rendered the car undriveable.
I question this culture within the dealership and asked the service manager how a technician could miss something as obvious as a clamp that had been disconnected and slid down the hose? I was told that the technician would not see an issue with the cooling system since he was working on the battery/coil pack/electrical system. To which I replied, then how did they find issues related to an oil leak and the belt and belt tensioner? And they had no response other than they would check into it. I have had no further response and feel that I cannot trust BMW Birmingham, Alabama to service my vehicle.

Too bad, you get to purchase a new tire out of pocket. You then purchase a new tire, same brand and model and the dealer warrants the new tire for 1 year? Huh. So my cars power went out, I did some research about the recall it had with the battery cable. I got the car sent in for that battery cable recall, they ended up taking longer than expected to fix it. Okay so I was patient, very nice to the dealership. They told me the car is fixed, I went and got the car. Whilst getting it, I was told that my regular for my back window is broken... Weird, my regulator wasn't broken before. So the service advisor told me he was going to get his manager to fix it then he'll get the car out to me asap. So I thought they fixed it, didn't think anything of it. I took the car, wanted to listen to some music... Turns out my aux import AND USB port are both not working. So I'm okay with it, called them about it and the service advisor, Cody, never answered my call. So I went on with life.
Take in mind, two of my friends who got this recall done, BOTH of their starters went out at the SAME time. So I told this guy, Cody, that if my starter goes out... I'll be back, he goes "that's interesting, but definitely let me know if the starter goes out." So I have the car for one day... I pull up to a gas station, turn the car off to get some gas. Try and turn it back on. Wow turns out my starter went out.
Called BMW to get it looked at, they tell me my starter is out and that it's going to be a whopping $1,400 to fix my starter and regulator for my window. This is ridiculous, so the manager called me and basically said that I'm WRONG over and over and he had to be right. I asked him if it were a possibility that the starter got too much power to it? From this new cable. NOPE I'm wrong, there's no chance at all. Just because the starter is somewhere else doesn't MEAN that this recall defected my starter. Weird cause my car was in perfect condition before that recall, and before the power went out. Will never be doing business with this corrupt company ever again.

Two weeks ago we had great pleasure in taking BMW Arden to the small claims court. My daughter's 18 month old BMW had a faulty wishbone arm. It should have been repaired under warranty but she had to pay the insurance excess of £395. We had a small win as BMW had to pay it back. I know it wasnt much but at the end of the day it was the principle.
Here is how it began: BMW Series 1. On 17 September 2017 my daughter Sam stopped at traffic lights to turn right into the Esso garage. When the lights changed, she moved slowly away, at this point the wishbone arm snapped causing her to catch the car in front. A passing mechanic who has his own garage examined the car and said it had issues. The only marks on her car was a small dent and scratch as the photos show. We sent photos to an online mechanic, he said that slight knock would not have caused the wishbone arm to snap.
Her insurance company transported the car to their garage in Ashford. A couple of days later BMW asked Sam if they could take it to BMW Arden to undergo repairs as it was still under warranty. When she collected her car a month later, she was shocked when she had to pay her insurance excess of £395.00, she’d been told it was being repaired under warranty.
It is apparent that at no time Ageas the insurance company inspected the vehicle. A letter dated 6th March 2018 states “I have reviewed our Audatex report from Arden Maidstone repairers who have not advised in their comments on the engineers report that the drive shaft snapped due to wear and tear or due to being faulty. Had they seen the car then they would have known it was the wishbone arm and not the driveshaft. They also wouldn’t have had to ask BMW what caused it to snap!
We wrote and complained to BMW Arden, BMW Customer Services and the Ombudsman. They all said the insurance company carried out the repair so you have to pay. Her authorized repair company in Ashford did not do the repair, BMW Arden did and then invoiced the insurance company for £4550,09. Our mechanic said the cost should have been no more than £500. A solicitor advised me the onus of responsibility lay with Arden BMW, she said the insurance company was just doing their job.
On July 6th, 2018 I wrote a final letter to Gary ** the assistant service manager at BMW Arden, His last email said, “The possible cause of the broken wishbone arm was wear and tear.” At the time my daughter’s car was 18 months old with under 7000 on the clock, so how could it have been wear and tear? We believe it had a faulty wishbone arm from new or it was in an accident when it was delivered to Arden Maidstone.

Even this time if I have to wait for similar timeline for headlight replacement I don’t see any customer satisfaction or value for the amount spent. Point been please fix my car in a weeks’ time. If done so I will be very much obliged.
Car was purchased from dealer- INFINITY CARS PVT LTD. When it was taken we were never warned about these shortfalls in your service center otherwise I would have never purchased your car and especially a new model. Also I will like to share my experience which is quite an unsatisfied one to not purchase any new model launched by BMW for at least 2 years till service centers start stocking at least the most popular parts.

To all that might take an interest in this; this is my first time posting on any consumer complaint forum. So hopefully people don't make the mistake of purchasing a 2009-2014 BMW with an N63 engine and affects five different vehicle classes. These cars are lemons with a long history of mechanical problems, and a class action lawsuit filed in 2015 for excessive oil consumption, drained batteries, and other problems affected by the oil cooled parts inside the car. Visit: ** to see full notice of the court documents, and full story. The final date for filing any paperwork to claim your vehicle under the class action was October 10th 2018. Too bad BMW has failed to properly notify owners about this, and still continue to sell these cars without advising anyone about the litigation behind them.
In August 2016 I purchased a used 2012 BMW 750LI M Sport with 38,482 miles. The car was sold to me by a private dealership in Los Angeles, and was a one owner lease return that originated from BMW of Santa Monica, CA. The car had a clear title, and free of "defects", and I paid 42K out the door price with tax & extended warranty to protect me through 100K miles for any possible mechanical issues that could arise with the car. Since that time I've had nothing but problems since I bought it that started with minor things like ignition coils, spark plugs, and check engine lights. Excessive oil consumption was noticed immediately the first year I owned it, and constantly had to top off the oil. I've meticulously maintained the car since I've had it and always taken to a certified BMW mechanic. The BMW service centers I don't trust as far as I can throw them, and use a preferred & HONEST BMW mechanic.
In July 2018 I took my car into the shop to diagnose several issues going on with the car which now has 92K miles. I wanted to have my mechanic check everything including doing a brake fluid flush, and oil change prior to making another drive into Southern California from Nevada where I currently live. After inspection my mechanic mentioned that the motor was falling apart; The car had leaking turbo hoses, upper oil pan gasket leak, bad steering pump, excessive oil consumption problems, and the engine valve stem seals were shot and explained why smoke would come out of the tailpipe during cold starting, and lastly an electric short underneath the drivers seat that scorched the material underneath and could have caught fire at some point had it continued. In all I was facing $15,000 dollars to complete all repairs.
We contacted my extended warranty company who handled the situation great. Due to the extent of the engine problems they sent out an adjuster to verify everything and audited my service records to ensure the car had been properly maintained, and also had video scope photos taken inside the engine of oil cooled timing chain to verify there was no engine deposits or oil gunk build up. It was clean as a whistle, and they indicated since the repairs exceeded the value of new engine they authorized a complete engine replacement in addition to fixing the electrical problems with my seat.
The engine was ordered through a BMW dealership in Las Vegas NV in August, and now here we are in November 2018 and still no sign of the engine or status on when we can expect to receive it. Since July I've had a loaner, and paid out of pocket for extensive rental fees, paying for an auto loan on a car that I can't even drive with still $24K left on it, and have had to register the vehicle as non-operable with the state DMV.
After repeated attempts to get a status on the engine by myself personally and my mechanic to get a status on the replacement engine; we still have no information, and appears to be no end in sight. The only reasoning behind the delay of the engine is that "they can't find anyone to make a drive camshaft on this motor". The third party company that used to make this part went out of business and they have no alternative currently. Sounded like complete B.S. to me, and I called them on it stating that it sounded like an excuse. At this point I'm extremely pissed off, and decided to email BMW Group Germany to ask them if they really cared about their customers. I found the CEO & other executive level members of BMW email addresses including their press secretary. I emailed them and demanded a response to this nonsense with the engine replacement.
A couple days later I received a voicemail from a Craig ** @ BMW North America customer care stating that he was calling because I was interested in a "RE-PURCHASE" of the vehicle. I had missed the call because I was on a business trip. I had no clue what a re-purchase entailed or what the qualifications were, but it was something that THEY suggested. I called back the very next morning which was on a Friday, and he didn't answer so left a message to call me back as soon as possible to discuss what he'd mentioned on my voicemail. He waited three days to call me back and returned my call on October 10th 2018. We discussed the re-purchase over the phone which entailed buy back 100% of the vehicle financing, maintenance, and oil used for the car that I had to top off constantly. I loved that option and expressed my interest to get me out of this situation.
He said that unfortunately the deadline had passed to have my paperwork submitted under the class action settlement... I said "What settlement?" I had no clue what he meant. He then said "yeah you're calling about the class action lawsuit right?" I told him that nobody had ever notified me at any point by mail, phone, or email about a class action lawsuit. Confused he said that "well the deadline is October 10th is the deadline to have your request submitted for compensation under the class action". I told Craig that "You know today is October 10th right?"; He confirmed this and said that there was nothing he could do to consider me for the class action since it was past the deadline as of that day, and apologized for the inconvenience.
So I contact BMW - Germany, they contact Craig ** @ BMW North America to ask me about a re-purchase, and then only to tell me that I'm past the deadline and there's nothing he could do. WTF? How does this make any sense? Why am I now just finding out about this class action lawsuit?? I became more irate and phoned the BMW dealership that we ordered my new engine from, and demanded to talk to a service manager or parts department manager. I told them on the phone that during this whole time my car has been in the shop, and we'd been asking for a status on the engine, or alternatives to put me into another car. I asked them directly if they knew about this class action lawsuit pertaining to my engine? When I cornered them they paused on the phone & said... "Yes we knew about it". I said then, "Why did you not say anything about it this whole time?? Why was this kept a secret or not disclosed?"
The person at BMW stated that they were instructed by higher ups not to say anything about it to owners because it was in "litigation, and the car owners would be notified at the appropriate time". They continued the same story about the drive camshaft holding up the production of these replacement motors, and that there was roughly 185 of these engines on back order in the entire country. WOW... talk about a cover up right? I hung up the phone on him, and proceeded to email BMW Group Germany again explaining what I just found out, and that dealerships are hiding this information from people to minimize their exposure & loss due to the class action.
The very next day after I sent that 2nd email I got a call from Craig ** @ BMW North America again stating that they'd be willing to review my case again as a re-purchase option. I proceeded to email Craig my entire file from the shop that we gave my extended warranty company, and all associated service records. Craig said he'd send it out to his "field team" to be reviewed and a determination would be emailed to me once they made their decision on the matter. After waiting a week I emailed Craig to get a status on the re-purchase decision. He contacted me saying that BMW North America had reviewed my case and have declined to approve my re-purchase request. He would not give any reason as to WHY they were rejecting it, and would not tell me who this "field team" was. He said he was not able to name the individuals or dealerships that make the decision for their "Protection". Protection from what??
They also noted on the rejection letter that their last record of service/maintenance records was in February of 2017 which was not true. I had my car serviced at my own BMW certified mechanic, and provided records for that work done, but BMW refused to acknowledge that in their letter to me. So now here are the facts.
BMW continues to sell these vehicles and dealerships are intentionally not advising people that there is litigation behind them starting in 2015 when the class action was filed. BMW offered an "N63 Customer Care Package" at one point to put a band aid on the problem; not calling it a recall, but just making the cars last long enough to make it out of their factory warranties leaving them not liable past that point. BMW has not provided any information or status on when new engines that are paid for out of pocket or by warranty are due to be received. Stating a "drive camshaft" issue is preventing delivery of these engines with no end in sight.
As a consumer I AM SCREWED. No car for almost 6 months, and no money to buy a new one or sell this one to get out of my current loan so I can buy something else. Without delivery of this motor my car is worthless, and no options. BMW Group Germany and BMW North America have zero control of this situation, and dealerships refusing to help take ownership of these problems. This is consumer fraud at its finest, and deliberate false statements, misinformation, are being fed to the public about these N63 motors. The 2009-2014 N63 motors are an aging group entering into high mileage and engines are crapping out with less than 100K miles on them.
This is snake oil folks, and BMW knows it. The class action settlement proves the excessive oil consumption problems, and now these same engines are failing with the valve stem seals resulting in repair costs that exceed a new engine cost. They have not done their best to advise the public of this and I'm sure there's hundreds of people that might be able to relate to my story.
If you have purchased one of these vehicles recently from a dealer, or have extensive repairs resulting in the requirement of a new engine that BMW is not delivering on please email me immediately so we can talk. Right now I know three other people in the Las Vegas area that are affected by this. We need others in the country to step forward & share your story and put a stop to this. BMW & Car Dealerships have screwed the public long enough, and now they need to take ownership of a crappy mass produced product they've put out into the market. Even if you buy an extended warranty you're still not safe; BMW does not have an answer for this, and if you need an engine replacement you'll be waiting until next year.
The biggest issue here is that BMW knows that their warranties are nowhere even close to sufficient with the well known documented issues behind these cars. They continue to sell these vehicles used and keep the information hidden from consumers. This is fraud! Look at the new class action filed this November 18. BMW has been defrauding its customers for years on these faulty motors, and continue to get rich. Someone needs to put a stop to this asap. The evidence is there, and plenty of public record & consumer complaints... how are these guys still in business?? If you've been taken advantage of please do the following: File a complaint with your State Attorney General's office - Contact your local news media - There's three of us here in Las Vegas affected by this and we'd be happy to give a statement & tell our story. If we don't make enough noise this will never stop!

BMW offers a reunite program but only 250 miles or under warranty repairs. I call BS! They want to charge me the difference in mileage for the return of my vehicle which is $250. Now I know why I was offered insurance at the time of my lease, which I didn't take. I've never needed it before. No one explained the issues with these tires. Now I find myself either having to make a one time payment of $1,300 for the insurance for the remainder of my lease; put regular tires on the car but run the risk of damaging the transfer case ($4-5K repair) or continuing replacing tires every time I hit a pothole. BMW North Scottsdale took action to correct this situation. Thank you guys I appreciate what you have done not only for my car but for my family.

We financed a used Lemony Fresh BMW 328i from BMW North Scottsdale less than 6 months ago and have been defrauded out of $25,000 purchase and stuck paying $415 a month for a car I cannot use and have been fighting BMW North Scottsdale for the last 6 months to do the right thing. When we purchased the vehicle we were told the vehicle had undergone a comprehensive multi-point inspection and that it was ready to be driven. We were pressured into buying the most expensive "Platinum Extended Warranty" to cover all of the major repairs like the engine components. Since we have purchased the car it has been in the service center more than it has been driven.
The first problem we had was all of the seat belts stopped working simultaneously we were charged a $200.00 service "cleaning" fee as they found toothpicks in the seat belts instead of covering it under the lifetime seat belt warranty. The car had a systematic vacuum pump failure which should have been covered under the recall "13V454000" or even the "platinum extended warranty" both of which were denied as the recall was VIN specific despite the fact that it exempted the same symptoms. The Warranty claimed they didn't have it on their list of parts covered even though its a mandatory part of the engine to function. This has caused the car to catch on fire while my kids were in it, put billows of smoke inside the cabin of the car and make it unsafe to drive since the day we bought it.
We have sent the car into their service center and have attempted to resolve this issue at least 4x now and they refuse to acknowledge or fix the issue without us paying for it. If this is what BMW North Scottsdale or “Penske Automotive” stands for save your money. Go to CHAPMAN BMW Instead! The service people at BMW advised us to purchase another car vs fixing this one. All of this in less than 6 months… I am under the impression that not only did they have knowledge of this failure prior to selling the car but they sold it to us on purpose with the intent of defrauding us out of a working vehicle so they could just get rid of it as quickly as possible as we have not been able to drive this car more than it has been out of commission. We have already put thousands of dollars into this vehicle being repaired and now they want an additional $3,611.00 to fix the issues with the car.

The heated seats, front and back, is extremely useful for my family on cold days. The seats are typical for a sports car. However, for a BMW, I expect that the seat should be more comfortable. I absolutely love the 2017 BMW 7-Series. This is my second BMW and it's my all time favorite. This car drives like nothing I have driven before. I had owned a series 3 prior to this purchase and found that it was easy to park, but just not big enough for everything we do. That was the main determining factor in purchasing this car. The leg room in the back is what you find in the front seat. No worrying about the front seat hitting your knees when the front seat is adjusted. With the front seats as far back as possible, there is still ample leg room, even for a tall person.
The only thing that I have an issue about is the hefty repair charges. In the previous car, quite a bit after the warranty expired, I needed some repairs done. After purchasing the new model, we found the repair bill for the old car. It was nearly the amount that we put down as the cash deposit. Repairs can get expensive but it is worth it. All the controls are easy to read and figure out. The music that comes with the car is phenomenal. I have never heard speakers sound this good in factory sound system. Typically if you want sounds this good you would need to purchase a new stereo package as an after purchase add on. Also, the way it hugs the corners and curves is unbelievable. Nevertheless, the car does have good features such as heated seats. I also like how the battery is located in the back. The car is really good in bad weather conditions such as snow and ice. I also like how there is a computerized screen which has various options on it for service and radio.
Still, I would definitely fix some of the maintenance features of the vehicle and make it so that any mechanic can fix the issue without needing a code from the BMW dealer. I would also change it or have it so that when there is an electrical failure, there is a way to override using the windows and unlocking and locking the doors. I totally feel cheated and robbed in daylight by Patrick BMW and BMW North America. My suggestion: Do not BUY BMW you feel or "ULTIMATE FOOLING MACHINE".

The BMW 300 is great for everyday driving. I love driving its 6 speed manual transmission! It's super fun to drive around town as well as long distances. The hands free features are also well designed. But, even though it's a German car, it's awful in the snow. We were very surprised by the poor handling in snowy conditions. We would not purchase this model again because of the climate we live in. It does not handle slick roads or snow well at all. Taking this into consideration, we might look at a different model. We really only bought it for the manual transmission.

I leased a 2015 BMW 428I - I have had timely payment without interruptions. I have had very minor maintenance issues. BUT it seems as I have found myself with an ongoing to date unresolved electrical issue -- specific to the radio. I have take this car 5 times back to the dealer to no avail. I am without my car for days and sometime weeks. And it seems as if they cant get it right. As I am now again experiencing malfunctions yet again with the RADIO. I have exhausted all energy with this. My lease is up in two months --- I have opted to contact BMW and suggest/offer to at this point just return the car two months early as it makes no sense to again take the car back to the dealer for the SAME ongoing issue and have them keep the car for days and so thereafter have the same issue reappear.
I was insulted and disappointed that I was offered to take the car back early without being charged for the last two months of the lease BUT only if I agreed to purchase another car... What a major insult to my current situation. I would have expected a prestigious establishment to OWN their LEMON and offer me an amicable solution enough to have me re-gain confidence in not only there product BUT the way that treat/satisfy their customers. After rejecting the horrible offer I was told they will revisit and have me wait until June 7th -- for my final answer. Very disappointing to say the least. My situation has been established by records of the amount of times this car has been worked on for the SAME issue. But yet they want me to wait an additional week. SHAME ON BMW USA.

My 2012 BMW X5 was recalled and I took it to BMW of North Scottsdale to have the work done. They had to remove the oil filter or something and apparently did not bleed it properly. I went on a trip and limped into Denver where I took it to Schomp BMW. They had to replace the oil pump ---it must have burned out due to air in the line. NOW apparently due to the oil pump going out the ENGINE has major problems and the cheapest way to fix it is replace the engine. There is a rocker arm problem with some of this year's but mine is not in the VIN # for that problem so is likely a rod.
