My wife and I have owned two Audi cars: an A3 and an A5 convertible. The engine on the A3 died at 107,000. With only 90,000 on the A5, we had to begin adding a quart of oil every two weeks. We are in our 60s and do not drive hard. My last non-Audi car lasted 217,610 miles. Audi told us that adding a quart of oil every two weeks was "normal" on a car with 90,000. They did offer to fix the problem for only $8,000!! That $8,000 will be used as a down payment on a new non-Audi. Google "Audi excessive oil usage" and understand that this is still an issue today, not just before 2014.

I would not recommend spending the money on an Audi when you can purchase other great vehicles and the manufacturer will not jerk you around about recalls. I recently paid $4,000.00 out of pocket for a water pump on my 2019 Audi S5...which there are recalls on. When I asked Audi to please look into this, they told me that because I bought the car somewhere other than an Audi dealer, they would not cover it. I worked in the car business for 25 years and I have never heard of such a thing. A recall is recall...no matter where the car has been! Too much money for an average car and terrible customer service! First and last Audi for me!

If you consider to buy Q4 e-tron, here is a very unpleasant experience to share with you. Ever since I got my new car from a dealership early July this year, there has been issue with casting the CarPlay to MMI properly. I had taken the car to different dealers four times. None of them was able to fix the problem. The worst situation was MMI couldn’t cast the right CarPlay map correctly for two weeks which was the fourth time I took my car for service. Unfortunately on the day of service day, my Q4 crashed with another car right outside the dealership. The car was badly damaged, since it was a two month old new car, to the best of my interest I chose that dealership to repair my car.
Now the car has been sitting in the dealership garage since the date the accident happened which was 9/17, and no works has been done because the parts is in backorder. I believe the dealership has been trying to follow up but the answer they got back from Audi Canada was no ETA for the spare parts order. This sounds like a very radicular situation that a renowned high end car manufacturer can run into shortage of parts for more than two months and with no ETA. I tried to seek for assistance from the salesman, without surprise no response was received. I talked to the dealership to see if they can arrange a loaner and was declined because the damage was at my fault which I could understand. As a consumer, I really can’t find any other channels for help except voicing out my experience here.

This was my very first experience at this dealership Audi West Ottawa and very excited to purchase an Audi. The delivery today was completely appalling and a complete lack of customer service from the salesperson and the sales manager. It was confirmed 3 times the week prior to pick up. Twice via email and a phone call to confirm pickup at 11AM. I was informed to be at the dealership at 11AM sharp as they had arranged a delivery person to meet me. On the way to the dealership, I received a call from the salesperson just after 11 AM as I was arriving that the vehicle was not ready and would only be available later in the afternoon at 2 pm. I did not receive an apology whatsoever and only received excuses from the salesperson with no consideration to consider rescheduling prior to the appointment so I wouldn’t have showed up and rearranged my schedule to make the 11 AM appointment.
When I arrived at the dealership I asked to speak to the sales manager and he not only ridiculed the situation but made out like I was an inconvenience to them. No apology from the sales manager and a smirk on his face like he didn’t even care. I guess they have enough business. This is utterly unprofessional and inconsiderate and I a could only imagine what serving the vehicle would have been like in the future considering the treatment I received on the day of pick up. This is the worst experience I have ever had at a dealership. I was treated like just a number and with a I don’t care attitude. Very disappointed..

I want to make everyone aware of the extremely poor customer service provided by Audi. Their standards are shockingly low. If your car has any defects, the dealership will simply refer you to Audi Canada, which offers no support whatsoever. Audi Canada ignores and fails to respond to client complaints, which is unacceptable for any reputable company.
I leased a 2024 Audi Q8 e-tron less than a year ago. On August 11, 2024, my husband was driving on Highway 407 in the rain with Drive Assist activated. Our two kids and I were in the car when it experienced a severe malfunction. As the heavy rain began to subside, the steering wheel suddenly started oscillating wildly without warning. Due to the excess water on the road, the car couldn’t recognize the lanes and kept switching directions, even though my husband was driving straight in the fourth lane. Despite his efforts to stabilize the wheel and regain control, the car continued to swerve unpredictably between lanes. It ultimately did a U-turn on Highway 407 just before Keele Street, and we collided with the center concrete barrier. The car was later deemed irreparable and totaled.
This incident has caused significant mental stress for my family and me. Despite our numerous attempts to address this issue with Audi, including providing them with the police report that corroborates our account, we have been met with disregard. They only informed us that Audi is conducting a thorough investigation but has failed to provide any response yet (after two and a half months).
As loyal Audi customers (I previously leased a Q7), we feel betrayed by the lack of responsibility Audi Canada has taken for their faulty vehicle. My husband, the driver at the time of the accident, has over 25 years of driving experience in Canada without a single accident or traffic ticket. The fact that no other car or external conditions were involved in this accident further underscores that the incident was caused by the Q8’s malfunction.
The dealership explained that the car only logs certain data and that the Drive Assist/Lane Control Assist is not perfected yet. However, there is no way for us to prove the cause of the accident since only Audi Canada has access to the logged information. After two months of fruitless communication with Audi Canada, I have no choice but to go through a legal avenue to encourage Audi to stand behind its vehicles. I would also like to highlight that the Audi Q8 e-tron is being discontinued next year, yet many remain on the roads, posing a danger to innocent lives.
Here are a few real-life examples that illustrate the true nature of their business model:
1. They will charge you around $550 for Loss Event Privilege, which I discovered does not cover the gap between the insurance payment and the balance on the car. Essentially, you are paying this fee to get a $5,000 credit from Audi toward your next Audi if your current one is written off.2. Be prepared to fight to get your security deposit back. I waited around two months for my Q7 deposit, and I am still following up on my Q8 security deposit.
3. Even though the car was paid off by insurance, they refused to refund the money paid for the unused warranty and service, unlike other manufacturers.
4. They had the audacity to tell me that they will deduct $110 from my security deposit for additional mileage on a car that was written off due to their faulty software.

At 81,000 miles, my Audi $50K Audi A6 needs a new engine. This is from a known defect in the piston rings. The car burns through a quart of oil every 400 miles. Audi has settled a class action lawsuit for this. One would think that if they settled a class action lawsuit, it would result in a recall so dealers can take care of it. Audi did not. What a horrible car. What a horrible company. If I had known that the car would only last 81K miles, I would never have bought it. My local Audi dealer, Audi North Austin, tried many things. None of them stopped the oil burning. Regardless, I paid them thousands. I took it to a non-dealer repair shop, and they explained the whole engine/piston ring problem to me immediately. One would think the Audi-trained dealer technicians would know more. All I get from Audi USA and the dealers are shoulder shrugs and effectively saying "sucks to be you."

Buyers, read carefully. Tuesday, August 6, 2024 case #**. I would like to document a serious event and ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILURE - 2020 AUDI Q8 - VIN **. Dangerous experience I had today with my 2020 Audi Q8. Before I begin, please note that I am a 5-time lifelong Audi owner. I had & have owned and leased the following Audis for over 15 years consecutively. I have financed and leased Audi TT, 2 Audi Q5’s, 2 Audi Q7’s and my current Audi Q8. I have (had) been always a champion for the brand until today when my faith and “trust” in the brand were shaken.
This afternoon (08/06/24) as I was going over the Throgs Neck Bridge (NY) a cockpit warning notification came up “ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILURE” have vehicle serviced. I contacted my dealership where I purchased my Q8 from (Audi of Fairfield CT.) and scheduled service. As I continued my drive the warning notification came up again and this time the cockpit lit up with many failures simultaneously (drivetrain failure, Power steering Failure, Transmission Failure, and many more I can’t remember). Then I noticed that the vehicle started to lose power until it stopped completely. The gear was in (D) but vehicle was not moving. The dash went black, and I was stuck, dead stick approximately 5:30 p.m EST on the Van Wyck Expressway (NY) by Hillside and Queens Blvd. The driver’s window rolled down automatically just as a heavy rain downpour started.
I was completely helpless until the NYC Police Dept.and offered a jump. They used a remote boost charger which lit up the dash enough to put the car in (N) as the NYC Tow Truck came on the scene. They towed the car off the Hwy and charged me $175.00. I contacted AUDI ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE, but they couldn’t schedule a tow for the same night because it was after 4:00 p.m. I asked them to schedule a tow for tomorrow (08/07/24) to my local Audi Dealer (Lynbrook AUDI NY). I now had to find my own tow service from Jamaica Queens to my house (76 Virginia Ave, Long Beach, NY 11561). I contacted Automotive DNA towing to tow my vehicle and myself to my home address. Now 3 hrs. into this event in the pouring rain, the 2nd tow truck arrives and after $475 in Towing charges I arrived at my home at approximately 10:30 p.m.
I understand that incidents happen, but a serious issue as this should notify the driver in advance about an electrical issue with the vehicle and that the car would go completely inactive without any further warning. Not just go completely dead, where you can’t open trunk, door or do anything with your vehicle. My faith now is shaken in the brand and honestly, I am debating to post my videos and pictured of the event, I lived through today on various social media channels. I am hoping that AUDI USA will somehow gain my loyalty and trust in a brand that I put my faith loyally for about 20 years.

This incident above was due to a faulty Alternator which has a recall with Audi. I currently have paid over $2000.00 for this incident, (dead battery + damaged sensor from towing.) I have sent over 30 emails back & forth to Audi USA and each time they reply someone will be in touch with you tomorrow. This will be my last Audi purchase because no matter how great a vehicle may be, if the customer service and experience is not there, then the value is worthless.

Warning: Consider Twice Before Buying a Q8 from Audi Coral Springs. I'm sharing my disappointing experience with my Audi Q8, purchased from Coral Springs. Despite meticulous maintenance and care, I've encountered a string of issues just after the 50,000-mile warranty expired: Suspension failure at 52,000 miles: $1,500 Repair. Oil change and 60,000-mile maintenance at 57,000 miles: $1,300. Cruise control failure related to a water pump and vacuum system at 58,800 miles: $6,500
To add insult to injury, the trade-in value offered for my 40-month-old Q8 with 58,800 miles was a mere $32,000, a staggering $60,000 depreciation from the original purchase price of $92,000. That's $1,400 per month in depreciation! Buyer beware: consider the potential costs and depreciation before purchasing a Q8 from Audi Coral Springs.

I owned a 2018 Audi Q5, loved the SUV and had no issues with the vehicle at any time just standard maint. ALL of the maintenance was carried out by an Audi dealership. I had 98000 km on my SUV and was taking a trip to Nova Scotia from Edmonton AB so I had the 120000 km maintenance done before the trip to hopefully prevent any issues during the long trip. 60 km outside of Winnipeg the engine made loud noise so we pulled to the side, called for a tow to the Audi dealership in Winnipeg, it was a Friday and a long weekend so the SUV would not be looked at until Tue or Wed.
We took a flight to Halifax, rented a car and stayed a week, meanwhile they informed me there was metal fillings in the engine and turbo and would cost approx 25000 to replace the engine and turbo and take at least 3 weeks to get the engine. By Autotrade it was worth about 21000 so a complete write off. I do thank Audi Winnipeg as they did everything they could to help, Uber to the hotel for the night before our flight, Uber to pick us up on our return and a loaner while we were working on a deal to buy a used Audi Q3. They did give me a few thousand from the dealership and Audi Canada pitch in $1000 big of them, the dealer gave me more but not much more. So it was a very expensive trip. My wife sent a few email to Audi Canada but they looked at it and did an investigation and did nothing.
So be careful as I don't understand how a so called high end vehicle with less than a 100000 km can just have something like this happen especially after just have a major service done on the vehicle. Yes the warranty was up as I did not buy an extended warranty. But Audi Canada just doesn't care or stand by their so called high end vehicles. The vehicle itself was great but since Audi just doesn't stand by their high end vehicle the Q3 that I bought will be getting traded in next year and I will buy a Genesis GV70 which at least will be under warranty for 100000km and owned 3 other vehicles from their parent companies and never had an issue.

I started having problems with my 2014 Audi Q5 as soon as a couple of years after purchasing, the engine light turned on and I had to do a $500 repair. After a long fight with Audi they offered to pay only half of the costs, this should've been my first sign as to how terrible their customer service is. Currently the car has less than 60K miles and I started having issues with oil consumption, turns out that I have to change all pistons and rings which costs $8000. I opened a case with them and after months they come back to say that they can't help with the costs of the repair. This is a common issue on Audi Q5 models so buyers Beware.

What I want readers to know is do not go to any certified authorized Collision Center by Audi at least in Miami. What I came to realize through the nine-month nightmare is that Audi has no idea what's going on in their "Certified Authorized Collision Centers".
Yet I realize that there is no overseeing quality control you know put a hat on Sunday check up on the centers, I mean there's only two in Miami so how hard can it be - nothing, they have no clue what's going on.
To sum it up. I got my car back. I have 47 photographs of 47 things that are wrong with his car and this was two-plus years ago. I have owned many AUDI cars; I like the brand. However, my 2022 A6 has been a disaster--the computer technology and the resulting controls (auto braking, driver's assistance) have been dysfunctional. The Car Play does not function all the time; it is not my iPhone--I checked. I've taken my car in for checkups with no positive findings. I filed a formal complaint under the Lemon Law, but my request was denied. Each time I call AUDI's customer service (about 3 times now), I am on hold for over 40 min (I hang up) AND even when I provide my phone # for AUDI to call me back, I receive a call back and put on hold again. This is ridiculous. AUDI has many competitors with much better customer service.

I've owned several Audi's over the years, it has been my favorite brand. This was by far my favorite purchase. These cars are beautiful inside and out. Trust me on this, with the move towards mild hybrid/electric they are no longer reliable and the repairs are EXPENSIVE. My car is a 2019 with 66,000 miles and the steering wheel/column no longer adjusts. The software update didn't work so they need to replace the steering column. $2,200 for a steering column. I also own a 2012 Chevy Malibu with 200,000 miles and it does not need a new steering column. I've owned many cars and I've never replaced a steering column in any of them.
This audi stickered for 74,000 and to have to replace the steering column at this point is outrageous and embarrassing for Audi. This is the last in a laundry list of repairs and recalls for things that frankly, just should not break. Seperately, of those issues, the dealer charges $2,000 for a front brake job (rotors and pads) when any reputable outside repair company will do it for half that. Parts are about $500. I'm strongly considering selling the car which used to a be source happiness and is now just a nightmare dealing with the dealership on all of this. I also have a 2018 Q5 and it is better built with less issues, I will keep that vehicle, but I'm not buying another one. Do yourself a favor if you want German luxury, go Mercedes or BMW, Audi has lost their way and is out of touch with their costs etc.

The most frustrating was today -- after spending an hour on the phone and multiple failed attempts, the agent arranged for me to turn off my computer, turn it back on and, after 2 hours, a techie would have fixed my problem and I would be able to sign in to my account... It's six hours later, and it still not happening! I'm happy enough with the car but it's my last Audi.

I purchased an overpriced Q4 E-tron in 2022. After waiting one year for the car, I was overcharged for this EV that I do absolutely love driving but sooo many problems and I don't like Audi costumer service. So many recalls and last summer when it was discovered they sold and let me drive the E-tron off the lot without refrigerant for the A/C, I didn't have my EV for one month and Audi still made me pay the monthly payment of 1250. I was informed I can't drive an EV without this fluid because it will harm the battery, okay fine, why was the care without the fluid? The fluid for the Etron is scarce and the machine to inject it was never used by the employees. Why doesn't Audi 1. Have refrigerant for the Etron 2. Why aren't they trained for the fluid injecting machine that puts the fluid in.
They did give a loaner, a gasoline car. They said they would reimbursement for the gas all month. They didn't. When the Etron was finally ready they returned the car to me dirty. I don't just mean not cleaned. I got black grease on my clothes and hands from the steering wheel. Audi is overplayed and overrated. That was in 2023. Now this month in 2024 I got a flat tire. Audi tires are not very durable for some reason. I called roadside assistance for one right front flat tire to come and they did within 2 hours.
I get a call 3 hours later from tow truck company saying there was an accident with my car when they dropped it off at Audi in Nyack NY. The tow truck didn't give additional information. Audi didn't reach out to me, I had to call them and find out what happened to my car. They didn't find me a loaner car. They told me I would have to deal with the tow truck company and insurance adjuster for the damages. This is after roadside assistance uses this tow company, smashed up my Q4 Etron. They took full responsibility but Audi wasn't helpful. They told me to deal with the tow company myself. So basically Audi picked the tow company, they damaged my car, and left me to be responsible for dealing with tow company, adjuster scheduling, the body shop (3rd party entity), both Audi and Tow company don't do body work.

In July 2018 our vehicle experienced a timing chain failure and we were invited to participate in a VW/Audi Timing Chain Canadian Settlement class action suit. Sadly, eventually we were excluded for compensation due to inadequate maintenance schedule. Ironically, for the duration of the vehicle ownership, the only case of inadequate maintenance was detected within the time frame when we were in the care of the Audi Care Plan from October 2013 to October 2018. On July 18 2023 we contacted Audi Care Canada department for compensation as it was very clear it was oversight of the Audi dealership who provided the service.

I contacted Head of Sales Joshua ** at OpenRoad Audi Vancouver Boundary 4 times on August 9, 2023 by email and voice mail and as a follow up on October 17, again, by email and voice mail. Audi does not care. They know they have faulty pistons in their 2.0t engines but offer nothing. It’s embarrassing for a company that is supposed to offer a quality product. They have a review process that lacks transparency. They state the dealership is involved but the local dealership is under new management making them ill equipped to offer meaningful insight. Bottom line is Audi offers an inferior engine and don’t care. I’ve held several vehicles to 200,000 miles and have never experienced this piston issue. And that Audi Canada will replace it (good it was found before being shipped to dealer). But then again, no information.
Despite the dealer following up regularly, weeks later, there is no confirmation of plan to fix or when (and if) the replacement part will arrive. So the car is in the port collecting dust. Can't believe Audi can't do something so very basic as track when a part can be delivered and a replacement done. Not very German at all!! Despite over 60 inquiries to both the dealership and Audi's Corporate Head Office, all we've received are empty promises of follow-ups that never materialize.
Alarmingly, it seems that Audi may not actually know how to effectively repair the Dieselgate vehicles for those who chose to keep them under the extended warranty. This has led us to question the integrity of the extended warranty itself, raising serious concerns about the promises made under the Dieselgate settlement.
Adding to our frustration, the dealership has refused to provide a loaner vehicle, leaving us without reliable transportation for an extended period. Complicating matters, our vehicle broke down during a family trip in Montreal, and we live in Ontario. Despite this, the dealership has offered no solution for returning the vehicle to us once the repairs are finally completed.
We have escalated our concerns to the highest level of Audi's leadership, including President Vito Paladino, Robert ** - Manager of Customer Experience, and Steven ** - National Sales Manager, seeking assistance, but we have yet to receive a response. The lack of communication, transparency, and customer service from Audi Montreal St. Laurent and the broader Audi team is deeply disheartening.
As consumers, we trusted in the Audi brand and believed that the Dieselgate settlement would be honored. However, this experience has left us feeling deceived and abandoned. It's our hope that sharing our experience here will encourage others to make informed decisions and prompt a much-needed change in how Audi handles its extended warranty repairs.

Here's an example of Audi's service:
- 4 days at the dealer to replace the front camera which was ordered and in stock
- 2 1/2 days at the dealer to replace the SOS emergency call module
- I've had my "SOS call function" warning light/alarm on for 4 months and apparently there isn't an Audi technician in all of Canada who knows how to turn it off.
I definitely would have expected better when purchasing a high-end electric vehicle.

I find this situation ludicrous and more than annoying. I was recently told that the manufacturer went out of business during COVID, so I ask, how was there no redundancy put into place? As an ops professional, this was the 1st thing I did during the beginning of the lockdown.
Secondly, given the fact that this phase of the pandemic has been over for some time, how have they not been able to rectify this situation? Last but not least, where is their customer care department? I would think that they would periodically update their customers on the situation. If I didn't call every couple of weeks, I would not know what's going on - which is nothing. More than disappointed!

This is unbelievable but as a consumer we have to suffer. The dealer informed me that due to the recall it would have to be sold to an auction house. Who else has experienced this issue recently. Audi dealership said this was a known issue with Audi in general and I would have to call the main office to figure it out. I bought my Q5 new at a dealership and thought they are supposed to check the vehicle for all items but apparently not. The other day I had a flat tire. I went to change the tire and found the car did not have the tool needed to remove the lug nut caps which were supposed to be in the car according to the service department. I filled up the spare with the air compressor which was included and found the tire did not seat properly on the rim. I called the dealer service department and I was reminded I had Audi service with my purchase.
I called them and it took 2 hours for the tech to arrive and tell me he didn't know how to correct the tire and that I should call a tow truck. I then used Audi service and called a tow truck which I was also told will take 2 hours. After 2 hours, I received a text message saying that the company they requested to tow my vehicle canceled the job and I had to call again and request another tow. I called again and I was again told it will be another 2 hours.
Thinking I might have a similar issue, I called and paid for my own personal tow which cost $120.00. None of this should have happened if the dealer put the nut removal tool in the vehicle and if Audi service had qualified techs to know what to do with the tire. When I got the car to the dealer, they said they deflated and re-inflated the spare tire and it was OK. Altogether it was a wasted 7 hours of my day off from work along with the $120.00 which I should not have spent or had any of the aggravation either. The bottom line, this service is basically useless, I will never buy another Audi again and for the people that have Audi's, good luck with the "so-called" service plan.

I recently received a notice of a Class Action Settlement, “Mercado v Volkswagen Group…: that specifically addressed this very issue and I have also learned that there were several Technical Service Bulletins (2050735/1) issued in early 2018 by Audi that addressed this issue and specifically how service departments should fix the issue.

I've been purchasing Audi vehicles for the last fifteen years; primarily A6 Supercharged vehicles. Last March, I traded-in my 2016 A6 Prestige Supercharged for the 2021 A6 Prestige 55. From day one there have been issues. There has been nonstop rattling from the dash. The trunk opens without touching the button on the remote or truck latch door. Other times, when pressing the button on the trunk handle, the trunk won't open at all. I would have to take the key fob out of my pocket and press the button in order for the trunk door to open. That defeats the purpose of having the trunk door button on the trunk. This is another flaw of all 2019 and newer models. Numerous times when closing the trunk, we walk away and the trunk opens again without us touching anything!
Same with the doors. Numerous times, we are unable to open the doors by placing our hand behind the door handle when the key fob is in our pocket. We have to take the key fob out of our pocket for the door handle to work. The dash rattle has been addressed numerous times, but never fixed. It's a horrible design flaw. No matter what the dealership attempts, it won't fix the poor design flaw. The bottom screen went out three times since purchasing the vehicle. The first time within two weeks of the purchase. I've had my 2013 Audi allroad for 8 years, it currently has 112000 miles. It's always been serviced and repaired by Audi. 25k miles ago I started to need to top up oil between services. Audi then stated that this was normal. I didn't really believe that and started to do some research on my own and found that the early TFSI engines 2008-2012 have an inherent design fault which leads to high consumption of oil. **
Gradually the problem got worse and during a service when I yet again made them aware of the issue and my research findings, they said the turbo was burning oil and needed to be replaced before they could do anything. This was done and $4k later my car was still burning oil. Problem got worse and worse. At 1 qrt every 600 miles Audi said that the abnormal use was due to a leaking top cover gasket and they could not do anything until this issue was corrected. I made them aware that the engine bay would have been full of oil if the top cover gasket was to blame but went ahead to fix the gasket at the same time as the timing chain was replaced.
The problem still remained. I have now spent yet another $1k to perform a oil consumption test which concluded that the car is now using 1 qrt each 200 miles! Which is everything else but normal. Audi finally says that the piston rings need to be replaced and because the car is now out of warranty I have to pay for everything out of pocket!!!
The fact that Audi from day one blamed everything else and asked me to spend premium $ to fix whatever they said was the issue instead of taking responsibility for their faulty engines is ridiculous and everything else but premium. It's so savage and ruthless to bleed your customers of money knowingly that there is an issue with the engines. This is not what I expect of a premium car company. Whoever is considering of ever buying or owning a new or used Audi please think twice!

His speed was less than 5 miles per hour.
The pot suffered no damage (if you get really close, you can see that there is a small stripe of the glazing that has lost a little of its sheen). The Q7, however, fell apart. I had no idea that the bumper and several of the front panels are only held on by clips. Also, some of the electronic sensors for the active cruise control were knocked out of adjustment. Total cost to repair the very fragile Q7 was $4,656.47. I can't imagine how costly the damage would have been if the Q7 was actually involved in a real accident with another vehicle. I recently leased a 2021 Audi Q5 Sportback and after riding it for a couple of hours I noticed that the engine makes a whistling noise at low RPM (around 1500) when accelerating. This is loud enough that you can easily hear it on highways. Moreover, the turbo makes a loud hissing noise whenever I accelerate. I also test drove 3 more Q5s and they all made the same noises (both whistling at low RMP and high hissing noise). So, I took it to the dealership to exit out of my lease and they said since this issue is happening on all the cars there’s no easy way to get out of the lease and they can buy back the car and the sum of money out of my pocket was 11,000 dollars.
So, I called Audi USA and they said they cannot do anything with lease termination and there was basically no way for me to get out of the lease without losing too much money. They suggested I should take it to my local service to thoroughly diagnose this and I did. They gave me a report that quotes: "Customer states at low rpm there is a whistling sound coming from the engine. Customer went on test with shop Foreman previously. Technician performed road test and confirmed whistling noise. Technician scanned vehicle and found no faults or DTC pertaining to engine bay. Tech was able to test drive identical model to compare and found noise is normal and from wastegate opening high speed/ low RPM under load. Vehicle is operating as designed."
So basically, the engine of a $61K German made car makes different types of noises, and they call it operating as designed and there is no good solution that I was given by neither the dealership nor Audi USA. So, if you are sensitive to random engine noise (this is by far different from cool sporty engine sounds) I'd steer away from Q5. This is my first lease from Audi and will never come back.

I waited there for 5-6 hours after I had a 9AM appointment. Alignments only take within 1 hour. The mechanic did the alignment then took the car for a test drive and the alignment was way out of alignment. HOW. Since this was a computerized alignment. And that was after 4 hours??? So it was pulled back into the shop and worked on for 1.5 more hours. Well they produced a computer sheet off the system showing the alignment completed. Totally suspect. Well that was April 2019 and then Covid hit and the car was barely used. In all, there was only about 7200 miles put on the car in 1+ years. Local distance only. SO, after a year I made an appointment to bring in the car for a front steering issue and told them to inspect the whole car.
The mechanic doing the inspection made note that the rear tires were much lower treadwear than the fronts, and should be replaced. I said, "Really? That is not good as this Audi dealership did the alignment for all 4 tires." The dealer's service manager made a snide comment that "who is driving the car"? I said my wife who is 66 years old and drives locally only. He shut up. I then took the car to another mechanic who confirmed that the tires were unevenly wearing on the rear and did so in making them uneven as a pair. Thus the mechanic at Audi did not recognize the uneven wear. (Is he a mechanic??) Idiot as I see it. So I asked Audi to replace the rear tires and fix the alignment. They balked and said the amount of time made it not their problem. But the car only had 7200 miles on it since the alignment was done, and anyone knows that the malalignment takes time to show and the 7200 miles is about correct.
I have other mechanics' responses to this to show just that. So I bought new tires and had Firestone do the work with the guaranteed for life alignment, which they service at any time. They also gave me their details on the probably cause of the Audi service department. The Audi service totally screwed up. They are incompetent.

I am a new Audi customer and definitely did not expect this company to be so incompetent. First off, the app is a joke. It doesn't really do anything useful so we never use it. I also had a hard time connecting my Audi account to Audi Financial Service in order to set up an auto-pay. I tried numerous times but the website seemed to have an issue all the time.
When I called the customer service to get help, there was a long wait about 20-30min in a Thursday morning around 9am PST, which shouldn't be the busiest time of the day or the week, and the representative who came on the line was very disrespectful and not helpful. He sounded like a high-school kid who wasn't motivated to do anything at all. So the only way at this moment to set up an auto-pay is to fill out the paperwork and mail it to Audi. Unbelievably old school. I've only owned the car for 3-4 months but already regret it. I've owned a few cars in the past from different makes, but Audi is definitely the worst.

In winter 2016 I have bought brand new 2017 Audi A4 Premium Plus for 47k. It was this new version with cool digital gauges and new technology. It was rather exciting. I was thinking at the time that this small luxury sedan was worth the money. Then in December 2020, I got the message that my car doesn't support any more Google maps and from December 31 will stop working. Really after 3 years my car is obsolete and exciting feature that I have chose this car for is no longer available. I have contacted dealerships right away to see if I can upgrade my car, but answer was no, and I should probably get a new or newer Audi in order to have that ability.
So 4 years after I cough up 47k for this Audi and planning to keep it in the family for longer, this car lost one of features that was their top selling point. I had a numbers of Audi cars so far in my life A4, A6, Q5 and Q7. I can tell you one thing. I will never ever again buy a Audi. It is like throwing away you money for something that will be obsolete in 3-4 years. Really sad from company that I had a the time on top for my vehicle needs.

For many months I’ve had issues with the Audi website. Trying to pay my car payment online is a hassle and becomes a giant waste of time each month. The online financial services portal on their website always has issues and makes it impossible to make your payment online without calling customer service. When you try to get a hold of anyone through the phone whether it’s Audi or Audi Financial there’s an extremely long hold time, and if you take advantage of the “call back” option they have you may be able to get a call back days or even weeks later in some of my personal experiences.
As I’m writing this review this issue still has not been resolved. If you are looking to finance your vehicle through Audi Financial, or care about having a good customer service experience I would highly suggest you rethink choosing Audi. So far I have enjoyed my vehicle and haven’t had any issues as a first time Audi owner, but this customer service experience will definitely be a huge part of any future decision I may make about purchasing a vehicle through Audi. Customer service and online ease of use go hand in hand with a quality vehicle, especially when it’s a luxury brand.

My mom could have died at Audi’s hands, to this day they keep saying we need to pay for a diagnostics test for them to even consider trying to figure out why the engine started to go around 30k miles, we have had to put oil in the car weekly to date and the most serious debacle: the gas tank imploded in the back seat because of where it’s located the entire back area of the car became gas soaked slowly.
Audi could have cared less and we had to pay for it, the mechanic who worked on it used to work for Audi...He said if anyone would have been near this car with a cigarette/match it would have exploded. I suggest you don't buy an Audi vehicle. My wife and I were both Audi people. She drives a 2015 Audi Q5 and I have a fully loaded 2014 A6. Both vehicles have had their maintenance done at the dealership. We just had to pay to have her pistons replaced on her Q5 due to the "oil consumption" issue (Google it). They have known about this defect and have settled a class action suit on earlier models. Rather than fix the problem, they are taking the position that oil consumption is "normal" and they have noted as such in their owner's manual. My wife was at the point where we had to add oil every other week. The repair was over 4K. I am at the point where I am adding oil to my A6 although much less frequently but I am concerned about what is going on in the engine.
I feel Audi is not standing behind their product. For the amount of money we paid for these vehicles, these engines should last longer. The maintenance on these vehicles is not cheap. To have an engine need that kind of repair after 5 years is ridiculous in this day and age. For it to be a common problem where they have a specific oil consumption test protocol at the dealership just shows you how common this is. I am sure it would be a huge expense for them to admit fault and resolve these issues. They have been fined for lying about issues with their diesel engines and they simply can't be trusted.
So as much as we loved our vehicles, we are done with Audi. We will never own Audis again and our next cars will be something more reliable from a more reputable manufacturer. Not only are we sharing our story on multiple forums, we are telling all of our friends and co-workers about our experience with Audi. I am certain they have lost way more than the 4K it would have cost to cover the repair on my wife's Q5.

I feel that the locking system on my Audi is extremely dangerous and want to warn others. I was traveling away for the weekend with my 13 year old daughter and stopped to get something out of the boot/trunk - then closed the boot lid on my keys (absolutely my own fault). I was horrified to discover that my daughter was then locked inside the car, with no way to get out. There were tears and panic (from my daughter stuck inside - and me trying to look under control). We phoned a mechanic who came to assist, and it took a hammer to smash the window and get my daughter out - and an angle-grinder to get through to the boot to retrieve the keys. I was just happy that my daughter was now safe outside the car.
I was really shocked that a driver could actually lock the car and the passenger would have no way to escape. I contacted Audi to let them know what happened and they were just dismissive. They said I could take the car into them for them to have a look at it and that they would charge me for the privilege. I now have a hammer in the glove compartment, just in case, yet I won't feel safe until I actually get a new car. I'll definitely be checking that it doesn't have the same locking system as my Audi. The vehicle has had the water pump and one injector replaced under warranty and the PCV valve, various modules and gaskets O rings and other items replaced at my expense as well as the shocks that were leaking more oil than the EXXON Valdez. All of this occurred after the car was barely out of warranty. The service department has actually been quite good at diagnosing the problems associated with the vehicle however the expense of having those issues rectified is prohibitive.
Now with a little over 100k miles on the car, it's burning a quart of oil every 600 miles. No one at Audi notified me about the class action suit on these engines for excessive oil consumption however they did notify me of the extended warranty on the cam chain tensioner which after requesting the replacement they refused to repair even while the car was still under warranty! In short, I'm stuck with $6K repair bill for replacing this dog of an engine. The people that work at Audi can only be as good as the management team and in short, the management team at Hiley as well as Audi of America are terrible.
On a side note, I have an ACURA RSX that I bought new in 2003 with 200k miles on the odometer that doesn't use a drop of oil and a 1997 BMW 318is with a 168K on the clock that doesn't use any oil either. I finally got around to bringing the vehicle in for service. They replaced the battery, flushed the A/C, brakes and performed an oil change. They also performed an exterior and engine bay detail. Within 10 days the vehicle had 3 inches of water in the passenger side floor.
I immediately called my dealership, Audi Sewell North Houston, and their response was, "Oh, yeah I know what is going on. This is common on the Q5." Apparently there are two drain holes in the engine bay just below the windshield to allow water to drain out of the engine bay. These drains WERE NOW CLOGGED. The dealership's response was that they must have been clogged before. I find this assertion ludicrous as it SAT ON MY DRIVEWAY FOR 540 DAYS WITHOUT A DROP OF WATER IN IT!!!
I took the issue to their GM, Jackson **, and he basically told me the exact same story I got from service. Which means he did no actual work and just regurgitated what he was told from service. I then took the issue to Jacquiline **, managing director, who did not get involved. I then took the issue to Audi of America who again repeated what the GM and service tech told me. So, I am stuck filing a claim with my insurance and having a vehicle with diminished value to flooding and both Sewell and Audi refuse to accept any responsibility. Took it for servicing and supposedly they fixed it after a week or so but few days later after driving my vehicle, got the same error message. The second time I took it in, they kept my car for 22 days and replaced the turbo and again while leaving I was told that the issue was resolved. I got this Audi etron with the security that I would have access to 150kw charging stations that would charge my car in 30 minutes (this is what audi is advertising on their website and what the sales person told me). This was a lie and they don't exist on the East Coast. You are lucky if you can find 1 nearby. The fastest charging time for my audi when it's on 26% is an 1hr and 15 minutes on the only supercharge stations that exist which are 50kw (and if few of these exist, only 15 hour level 2 charging stations). This means if I want to go out of states I can not because it will add an extra 5 hours just to charge the car because unlike the sales guy told me it does not give you 250 miles but 204 miles (this depends on how fast you drive, if you are going uphill, and if you turn on the AC).
They also sold me the brand new vehicle with all 4 safety handles missing. I am not comfortable driving the car because if something as simple as safety handles was missed what else could have been missed. I reached out to Bryan who was suppose to be helping me from the customer experience department and he told me there is nothing they can do. The car works fine and the service department is fixing the handles. I informed him that they did not fix or check my car but only took pictures. I informed him that I wanted a copy of my the final results that he told me over the phone and I am yet to receive this in writing so I can pursue litigation. They are trying to wipe their hands on selling me $100,000 car. And now I will fight them in court and I won't ever get another Audi vehicle. The car was in the dealership at least 4 times in the span of a few months for the same issue and they could not fix it. My wife called me on the road one day with severe anxiety over the lurching transmission when she was travelling from Naples to Ft. Bought a new Audi Q7 from this dealer 5/19/17. I am 55 years old and a professional in my field and felt like it was time for my first luxury vehicle. I did my homework and knew I wanted a luxury SUV. My choices came down to Audi, Volvo + BMW. I choose the Audi Q7 2.0 Premium Plus Package. Seemed like a wonderful car.... Fast forward to 3/11/20 without any warning the engine blows a rod through the engine block. The car has 85,375 miles on it and has been properly serviced on oil changes (every 10,000 miles). I go out of my way to take care of my vehicles with proper maintenance.
I take it to nearest Audi dealership (Ontario) for repair/answers on why this happened. They suggest it be turned over to Audi (Corp.) for a claim. I also called Audi (Riverside) and the man that sold me the car (Dan) was no longer there, but once they heard I had started a claim with Audi (Corp.) they said there was not much more they could do for me. Audi (Ontario) offered me 20% off what is now going to be an engine replacement. My talks with Audi (Corp.) was insulting to me.....absolutely no help. They went through the motions of taking a report, but at the end of the day did absolutely nothing to stand behind their name on what has to be a wrong situation for this to happen.
When I asked why they would not do more or stand behind what feels so wrong to me they said it was because I had my service (oil changes) done at my own mechanic and warranty on the car stopped at 50,000 miles. I understood the warranty at 50,000, but to have a violent engine blow without warning at 85,375 miles made no sense to me. My mechanic is certified and licensed with 35 years experience and used the Audi recommended oil. The Audi (Corp.) Rep Sean comes off as wanting to help, but in my opinion he gathered information to work it against you....beware. This infuriated me, but what choice did I have but to get the repair done.
Audi did the repair at a cost to me of $11,903.82. This is not right as I still owe over 3 years in payments on this purchase and they could not give me a reason at the service department on why this happened. Consumer beware. If you have choices on your luxury SUV purchase don't let it be Audi if you expect support from them on an injustice. In hindsight, I wish I had chosen Volvo.

Ball bearings had to be replaced last year, both rear view mirrors -driver's and passenger's sides have come unglued, now the coolant is leaking and the water pump needs to be replaced. The worst of all is that the car has been eating oil like crazy - needs to be topped off every 1000kms now - apparently it is due to the issue with the pistons on multiple vehicles but Audi is doing nothing about it. German engineering hasn't proven to be all that great. Sure the car feels nice to drive and handles well but considering the upper class it is not made well. The only upside is that I leased the thing and I am now anxiously counting down the next 33 months (2 more of which I likely won't even see the car), until I can get rid of it. We bought the car on December 30, 2019. I had the car a week and the entire back end lighting system failed. They had no idea what the issue was, so it took a few days to figure that out. Then, they had no replacement part, and no estimated time for when one would be received. Communication was awful and we had to beg for updates.
Finally, my husband called Audi USA after multiple different stories from the service department, and told them if this is how this was going to be we wanted to get rid of the car. Magically, the light bar showed up to the body shop the next day! Had the car back two weeks, and someone rear ended me while sitting at a light. Not horrible damage, but not trivial either. Again, no freaking parts to fix the car, and no idea of when they might have any. Again, begging everyone for information and getting the run around.
Another call to Audi USA and still no parts (they were able to find a few, but there are still several outstanding with no ETA). The car has been sitting at the body shop now since 2/13/20, and there is no end in sight. How, how do you sell a car and not have the appropriate parts to fix it??? No communication, no apologies for how awful the whole situation is. Basically, just a "your out of luck " attitude. Several people at my child's school have asked me about the car, and I have given them every awful detail, and have persuaded several to look for something, anything else!!!!
So, I am now paying close to $1000 for an electric car that I can't drive and likely won't for a minimum of 3 months, and have the pleasure of driving a rental that I am filling with gas pretty much negating the point of the electric car. Thanks, Audi for literally the most awful service I have ever had the displeasure of paying for. Let me leave you with a wonderful piece of advice a college professor gave me in the event anyone from Audi reads this, "Proper prior planning prevents poor performance."

Do your research before buying any Audi. It is always a headache when things go wrong, but it is unacceptable when Audi America blames loyal customers for Audi's poor engine performance. While driving on a dark 2 lane highway in Vermont our Audi engine seized without warning. My college-age son waited alone for 5 hours before getting towed 40 miles to the nearest Audi service center. The following Monday Audi service shared the news that the engine had metal shavings in it, total engine failure. The car has 61,000 miles on it and had been well maintained.
With service records in hand we took the case to Audi for review. Audi conducted a sloppy investigation and ultimately let us know that we were out of Warranty. Also, they pointed to a policy where they claim only Audi can service the car. When asked to produce the "policy" and to fact check the information in the case history, Audi stopped responding. David Weissland President of Audi America was included on all emails and was fully aware of our dilemma. He stood by the customer service resolution. Quotes for a new engine $12,000.00-$14,000.00. My son could have been killed; Audi has shown they do not care. If you have had this happen to you please file a report with NHTSA so that we can hold these criminals accountable.

Did you know that Audi has a monopoly on their key fob programming? Me neither. And, this mistake cost me almost $2000 and left me without a car for over three weeks. I admit that I didn't have a back-up key. Initially, I hired a Locksmith recommended on Audi USA's website. He was able to get in the car, setting off the alarm system, but was unable to program the key fob. I then towed the car to the dealer using an Audi recommended roadside assistance towing company. They blamed the Locksmith, that is recommended on their website, for breaking the comfort module.
The Audi dealer and Audi Customer Care acted like they were concerned, they weren't. Instead, they pointed fingers at me for seeking out and using an independent Locksmith, that was recommended on their website. The lesson learned is never, ever buy an Audi - unless you enjoy throwing money away, wasting hours of your time, and being without a car for over three weeks over a minor mistake.

All mechanics agreed that Audi’s engine has problems and that Audi USA know about the issue. Bad experience. Never an Audi.

Evidently this problem is well known now and we are looking at an engine replacement as a result of a failed timing chain tensioner and the jumping of the chain. The class action lawsuit and settlement only entitled claims if made prior to Jan 25, 2019, which makes no sense given the issue continues to plaque owners of these vehicles. The treatment of this issue represents gross negligence by Audi. Why, in the case of the excessive oil consumption issue, will they pay $4k to execute a stage 2 overhaul of the engine and at the same time, with regard to catastrophic engine failure, not to the same next right thing?? This is really funny - we had the issue with the oil consumption fixed in the present failed engine. I wonder if we'll have the same issue with a new (used) engine with an updated tensioner and new chain?

The fabric insert caught most of the shattered glass thank goodness or my husband might have been injured. The Audi dealer is charging more than $800 to fix it. I own a 2015 AUDI A4. I have enjoyed the car and like the ride very much. However, after a little more than 4 years since I bought the car new, there is a severe problem with the air conditioning system. Since I live in South Florida, it's essential that this works. The AC evaporator failed and needs replacement. The cost quoted me by AUDI in Naples to repair this was $4740 plus tax. Most of this cost is due to labor since it is extremely difficult to replace. The service tech explained to me that the part itself is a little over $1000, the rest is labor cost.
This charge to me is due to poor quality on the part of AUDI. This part should not have failed after only 4 years. In addition, the car is poorly designed if it takes a skilled AUDI mechanic so many hours to repair. The tech said that the entire dash needs to be removed. I'm very dissatisfied. I'm not about to pay this much. What will fail next and and what price to repair it? I will have to get rid of this car since it is useless after less than 5 years. Needless to say I will not be buying an AUDI to replace it.

Audi has said that it is an issue with Sirius XM, but I am not seeing the same issue with other makes and models. While radio presets is a small problem compared to say, engine problems, it is that Audi has been nonchalant about a feature not working at all since the time of purchase. It, along with several other service issues in which I had to be the one to get a matter taken care of, shows the lack of accountability on Audi’s part, and will be the reason that I will never purchase another Audi and will actively prevent friends and family from making the same mistake.

Dear Customer Care, I am an AUDI A6 User and would like to express my view how AUDI INDIA is and how their Service center and how they are malfunctioning and ruining the name of Audi. I have been using the Audi A 66 past 7 years which is now 86000 kms been running but now the service centres are just malfunctioning the customers with very high price, making problems in the car and then expressing then the said parts needs to change or else they cannot do any thing.
Audi India has created a customer which is just for a name sake and cannot do anything. The name says as customer care which means for customer but they are saying the words of Service centres and nothing else and also one of the executive told me he cannot do anything. Then why Audi India has created a CUSTOMER CARE. It's better you remove that and close that customer care and make it customer information centre.
I sent my car for a regular service and on the receipt of the car after service i noticed that an error is showing on my cluster which says oil level is low so i immediately complained the service centre and asked them that you charged me for the oil change etc but why it is showing which was not showing earlier. Then they took the car back and after 5 days they said I need to pay Rs. 125000 to change the cluster so I am so upset that it was not there before service and after they service they deliberately make the programming in such a way that this error showing and now make money from the customer.
At the outset so called customer care is also cannot do any thing. After my complaint the service team relation ship manager is calling me and saying that this error was there past one year and now showing. Is it possible? Also she is claiming that we can get it verified but the question is from where can i verify this? When i ask the same question to Audi India customer care they also says what the service centre says is right. What does this means, as I have all the rights to make sure what the problem is and get it verified but there is no answer with any one.
It seems nobody at AUDI wants to address the concern and leave the customer at a mercy that either I pay or get rid of the problem or i close the issue. This is the kind of service level AUDI INDIA is doing and your dealers are killing the Audi India Image. I wish i wouldnt have purchase the Audi and it is my worst decision to buy Audi Car now. I am not going to recommend this car to any one and will also put on all the forums so that all the future buyers should understand the After sales service support that Audi India has. As much as I would of loved to give Audi 5 stars it would be just as unethical and misleading as them and the experience I had with them was.
•06/04/2019: My 2010 Audi A4 2.0T mechanical defective timing chain tensioner edition had been effected and damaged in which I paid out of pocket for earlier this year only to find out AFTER the repairs had been made by a less expensive shop that worked within my budget; that this would’ve of been covered by Audi, if they had done their due diligence and notified me but they didn’t. Dealerships aren’t first choice for many people when big major repairs take place especially one as silly and unbelievable as this. If I had been notified correctly back in December 2018 this could’ve all been avoided and properly/thoroughly addressed by Audi themselves within Audi itself but instead I had to take the cost effective and unaware consumer route due to Audi & Audi Nashua’s failure to notify me of this matter.
•10/05/2019: Brought my vehicle in for the timing chain matter (that Audi was sued and settle on) amongst other things that had been effected post timing chain failure with hopes that this time Audi would rectify the situation now that the timing chain is going again less than 5 months later in which could of been properly addressed and fixed this time without the constraints of a budget for such a ludicrous repair especially so early in a cars life. However, Audi of Nashua refused to do so regardless of the 24 pages of service records dating back to purchase in 01/2018 with only 64k Miles that I had provided which were more than sufficient enough. Trevor the service rep even seemed impressed with the records.
Instead of trying to remedy the matter, I get the diagnosis that I was clearly already well aware of but Audi Nashua wanted me to fix components on the vehicle FIRST out of my pocket that would of been repaired at no cost to me had they notified of this disaster problem to begin with 11 months ago. So now that audi is refusing to back their product like they should’ve my vehicle sat on their lot for days collecting dust and leaking oil from main seal instead of at least beginning the repairs like I had asked.
•10/12/2019: Danielle the extremely unprofessional service whatever position at Audi, stated via text “to bring back the loaner or face a $75/day charge so that other customers may have access to the loaner while they wait for parts and repairs to come in.” Basically telling me to pickup my barely drivable Audi with just 100k on it so other customers can have transportation because apparently they are more important than me. So I did. No word back or anything about these parts they ordered either. Reached out to Audi USA and that rep on the phone was as clueless as can be and offered no help. I told Danielle I wasn’t paying for anything as the service team had done nothing except REITERATE everything I already knew, and let my car leak oil until it was nearly bone dry upon pick up. Basically made me feel that because my 2010 peasant Audi isn’t a 2019 I need to go pound sand as that problem is not theirs.
•11/08/2019: Here we are less than 5 months later and guess what? Timing chain is going again. This time now that I know this would’ve and should’ve been covered correctly the first time, Audi of Nashua refused to do so regardless of the fact this Audi had been serviced there by previous owner and my 24 pages of service records I had provided that were more than sufficient. Now my car that should of been fixed correctly months ago is now parked lifeless and inoperable as Audi Nashua & Audi brand have completely left me high and dry all because of their own negligence. Now I have gotten the attorney general of NH involved to handle this consumer conflict with hopes that these people will finally rectify the mess that could of and should been avoided.

PSA: BUYERS BEWARE - My 2013 Audi Q5 began having issues at 82,000 miles. It has an oil consumption problem (sound familiar) that makes it a hazard to drive. I stopped using Audi North Austin a while back when they treated me poorly (scheduling, follow up, getting my vehicle's service done on time). I used South Austin for a while until the same issues began (although I have never fought them on their overpriced non-sense). I did start taking it somewhere else however, when Audi wanted 4x more for my breaks. My vehicle has been at Audi South Austin for over 3 week now, because they want $6000 to fix it. I tried working with Audi USA when the issue began in August due to recommendation by my current garage. The representative that helped, seemed great, but my case got closed until the oil consumption part 2 test. When I went to reopen it Audi USA was a whole different thing. Since then, I have emailed, called, and initiated everything.
Customer service has been exceptionally poor, and some even flat out rude. My vehicle is not under warranty, I purchased it from a private party, and I serviced it elsewhere. All things I understand are not ideal in Audi's eyes, however the exceptionally poor customer service and that I could provide ALL of those records, and that this has been an issue in the past with Audi USA vehicles (although they're stance is this is just a coincidence because it's not the same one from the class action suit) is why I'm putting this out there. This isn't really me, but I feel cheated and taken advantage of and I think Audi USA should hear about how they're putting people out, and I think people should know how Audi USA is doing people. Again, buyers beware, especially 3rd party. They don't care. Even if it's your safety.

Within 5 years, repairs outside of normal wear and tear started to occur. I still had faith in my A6 even when people told me to get rid of it. For this year alone, repairs cost is somewhere in the 9K. Mind you, the car is worth less than 4K. Had I not gotten a huge discount, repairs will be about 12K. My most recent issue is coolant is leaking in my oil tank and now I must decide to repair or donate. The car has the poorest resale value so if you are planning to buy an Audi, do not keep it beyond 5 years. So the moment you pay off the loan, it is time to sell the car. From that point on neither would return my calls or emails and were always in meetings when I showed up. By 70,000 we were burning a quart each week! All along we were told by Audi West Chester that this was normal for any 2.0T.
Recently I scheduled an Oil Consumption Test to be done at another dealer that I have dealt with, Mechanicsburg PA which was a nightmare of a process. This dealer confirmed numerous times over the past 2 years that burning oil was normal while I was in for other service. When I returned to conclude the oil test I was told the engine was burning 3 quarts of oil per 1,000 miles and Audi would probably cover 75% of the repairs, but before they could submit a claim I would have to pay $289 for another engine test.
Yesterday, I received a call saying Audi agreed to pay 25% of a $5,000 repair due to high mileage. The fact that I had written documentation of the problem existing at 30,000 miles made no difference. No part of this warrants the premium price paid for these vehicles. I hope the 2009-2011 2.0T class action law suit gets extended, then all 3 of my Audi vehicles would be involved in class actions. What a great company. The vehicle has never missed a service and yet it has had issues since the very first week it was purchased new from Audi Centre Perth in May 2010 for just over $100,000.00. See the History of excess oil consumption which is ongoing, gearbox malfunction at 62,000km, and now the catastrophic engine failure at 102,000km, due to the faulty timing chain tensioner.
The most disappointing thing of all is that once you actually begin to investigate these issues it is very clear to see that Audi were well aware of these issues all along. In fact, only after legal action in the USA, they agreed to rectify these issues at no cost to owners. The oil issue is covered for an extended 8 years or 88,000 miles for 3 options of rectification, and the engine failure due to the faulty timing chain tensioner is covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles with a replacement of the engine.
However by far the worst part that I find completely outrageous is the fact that there was a recall in the USA of all vehicles with this engine type to replace the faulty Timing Chain tensioner due to the significant number of engines having to be replaced, yet Audi Australia failed to even advise owners of the high probability of a catastrophic engine failure. The lack of disclosure to Australian owners denied them and me the option of even paying for a replacement tensioner, at a much smaller cost, and prevent what appears to be the inevitable engine failure and the significant cost to rectify that. The exact situation that I find myself in now.
The failure of Audi Australia and the Audi Service Centre to inform me at any stage that there was a known defect in the timing chain tensioner, and advise me that it would be wise to replace it at a small cost now, rather than be left with an enormous unexpected cost down the track. The cost is one thing however the absolute inconvenience of the vehicle being off the road for 3 weeks now, combined with having to hire a car and not being offered a loan car after 3 weeks, is also unacceptable.

Like many on here (including Javier - Dec 5, 2018), my Audi was expensive to maintain. I bought it new in 2010 and immediately it used to much oil. After many arguments with the local dealer (near Chicago), they finally got Audi America to cover the cost of fixing the issue (a piston ring issue they kept quiet). Somewhere north of 50k miles, the turbo went. Again, I had to press the local dealer and Audi was quietly fixing another issue they knew they had so they replaced the turbo. Then at 93k, my car would not start while out running local errands. I had to have it towed to an independent garage that works on Audi within the radius covered by my insurance road side assistance.
This was a weekend but on Monday they called with the bad news that the tensioner on the timing chain went and damaged the valves. Their solution was to replace the engine with a used one, so I got the local Audi dealer involved. They said it was covered, so I spent $115 to have it towed to the dealer. I found out later this was part of a class action suit and the dealer wanted 8800 to replace the engine head. Audi said my warranty was voided, even though I did all my maintenance (65k, 75k,85k, etc) because I fell outside the time limit to do the maintenance (i.e. every 12 months), even though I drive few miles since retirement.
I donated the car to charity and wrote a letter to the CEO of Volkswagen America, who used to be the President of Audi America. In all my years of driving and all of the cars/makes I have owned (many well over 100k), never have I had a timing belt/chain issue. Do yourself a favor and buy something other than an Audi or you do want an Audi, either lease it or trade it off before it is too old and you experience the heavy maintenance cost of owning these vehicles.

The issue that I have experienced was: 1.5 months back I had my 5 year old Audi A3 cut out on the motorway due to the engine mis-firing. I had RAC tow the car into Audi Nottingham where they said one of the injectors had failed which caused fuel to enter into the engine and cause this issue. I paid £1200 to get this fixed. A month later the car cut out again with the exact same symptoms, so I had it taken into Audi Sheffield. After having the car for 2 weeks they are still not able to re-produce the failure but can confirm from the vehicle computer system that the engine is mis-firing. After buying a premium car, and having it taken only to an Audi dealer for any services/repairs it is really disappointing to experience first hand the lack of quality with both the car and the service received. It occurred on: 11/06/2019.
This meant that I was put in danger by the engine cutting off on the motorway. I was left without a car for 2 weeks during the initial breakdown. I was left without a car for another 2 weeks during the second week. I have lost all confidence in the car, the Audi group and the capability of the Audi technicians who are meant to be the best at what they do. I would like Audi to take ownership for selling me a car with a faulty engine and actually get it fixed. There comes a time when they need to stop looking for every excuse as to why the car engine is failing and look into what is causing the engines to fail in a car that is 5 years old with 60K miles on the clock. This is the most disappointed I have ever been with a car company or the services I have received from any car OEM! I look forward to your prompt response on this matter.

I purchased a Certified Pre Owned Audi A8 with 17K miles. Audi claims they have a 300 point checklist and vigorous standards for accepting vehicles in to the program, for which there is usually a premium to pay. When I received my vehicle, it was immediately very evident, while the car was still on the transport truck that it had been in a serious accident. The entire driver's side of the vehicle had been repaired and repainted. There are still creases in the front and rear door. The paint is mismatched. Sand marks are still visible under the paint. The windshield was replaced with the incorrect windshield so the heads up display does not function properly.
One tire had extensive damage and was plugged adjacent to side wall. I was advised not to drive the vehicle with that tire by our local Goodyear Tire Center. There is paint overspray on the instrument cluster and dash that simply will not come out. I can continue on - the car is a mess. The dealer isn't responding so I called Audi. My customer care experience with Audi has been atrocious. They have absolutely no concern that one of their dealers sold a car as "certified" but didn't check the simplest of items. The damaged tire alone should have precluded the car from being certified.
The first person from Audi Customer Care that I spoke to ask me "so what do you want Audi to do?" Well, I guess that about sums it up. They fight tooth and nail to escalate the problem to management, and when they said they would - i had to call them back, It's been nearly three weeks. I advise you to stay away from Audi Certified Pre Owned vehicles. They program isn't worth the paper it is written on. I've purchased CPO BMWs and Porsches in the past and had fabulous experiences. Audi just doesn't measure up. I'm embarrassed that I've allowed myself to be taken advantage of this way, and I'm furious that Audi just doesn't care.

I purchased a 2016 CPO Audi from Audi of Naples. There was no mention of a “DEDUCTIBLE” every time you need to use the CPO warranty. I was given no paperwork as to the fact there is a deductible on the CPO warranty. I just took my vehicle in as the air conditioner was not cooling. Since it was 2,000 miles past factory warranty the CPO warranty was applied. I asked if there would be any charge and was told that there would not be a charge as it was all covered under CPO. I was even called the next day and told that the good news was everything was covered by the CPO and I would owe nothing.
When I went to pick up the car I was presented a bill for $85.00. I was told there was no charge for the warranty work but they were required to collect an $85 deductible for Audi. I argued with them and finally had to pay it to get my car released. I filed a complaint with Audi and after a week and a half they just called and said there was nothing they could do and I would be responsible for the $85 deductible every time it needed warranty work. I would never even consider buying another Audi and will be glad to warn others. I have owned many Mercedes Benz and have never had an issue with their CPO. Looks like trying an Audi for the first time ended up being a bad deal.

I leased an Audi A6 and turned it in one month early pull ahead lease for S5. Don’t get me wrong I love the actual car but the service has been a nightmare. Charging me so much money 5 months after I turned the car in. Trying to charge for excise tax that I paid but they applied to the actual car payments. In doing so when I did pull ahead deal instead of it looking like I had a car payment left it looked like I owed excise tax. After many calls and hours of my life I’ll never get back they acted like they figured it out. I made a pay off turn in settlement for the extra miles and thought it was over. Then I get a bill for excise tax in the mail.
When I try to explain to the specific department they tell me they just received this bill from my city. I called the clerk's office and they told me the excise tax for the A6 was sent in April 2018 and they are trying to make me pay it in April 2019. They lied over and over and after making the previous settlement and really still trying to collect excise tax I already paid them. Now I have to spend all kinds of time trying to get this dealt with, and no one will just make good on it. I was told BMW service is phenomenal... And I honestly wish I leased with someone else. Lesson learned... Never again.

I was trying to start the purchase of an Audi. So as to German competitors to Audi - both the BMW and Mercedes websites work perfectly and responsively. Given this experience, I will not be purchasing an Audi/Volkswagen/Porches for my new care, which I will buy in 2019. Back in 2017, car had EPC light illuminated, would lose power while driving, would idle roughly and then not turn on. Had it towed to Audi Honolulu. Found electrical wiring burning through to the gas tank (could've blown up) and so they replaced the gas tank and the wiring at their "goodwill" more like to save a lawsuit. Anyways April 2019 now, same issues with EPC light, idling and losing power then it not turning it on. Got it towed to Audi El Paso. Apparently, cylinder 1 and 2 in the engine are at 0 psi compression and we need a new engine.
Mind you every service has been done at an Audi dealership and its only got 60,000 miles on it. Told they wont be covering any costs and told by Henry at Audi El Paso he wont even provide a loaner vehicle unless we agree to pay $10-13k for a new engine. What a joke. My thing is why wasn't this issue found in 2017 when the car had the exact same issues? It's their job to fix the car right. I am going to be taking my claim further until I get results. Googling the same car and I see so many people with the same issues. When will Audi take customers seriously? Makes you wonder how many Audis are a safety hazard driving around and could blow up any second. My families safety comes first and it should come first for Audi too.

Hi all. I own an Audi A5 2013, 1.8 TFSI Coupe, I bought this car as a second hand (used) from Trade Centre UK in Wednesbury. I thought "what a great car..." Test drive it. Liked it. Bought it. Few months later it went on limbo mode just like that. All of the sudden. No warnings. Nothing. Took it to an RAC approved garage (when I bought the car I was recommended to buy the premium RAC warranty which you have to pay 41.50 UK pounds per month for 3 years) and they told me that they had to replace a part that has to do with the a/c of the car (air conditioning) which cost them £1000. Then few months later one of my injectors went bad so I had to take it to an RAC approved garage again for them to fix it, when that was done and I got my car back all of the sudden the EPC light came on with the traction control on the dashboard. I thought FFS. This is some sort of a joke...
Took it to a garage again, my mechanic had to replace a part that he thought would fix the car which it didn't so when he reported the problem to me he also said that he thinks it could be the control module unit of the car which is the brain of the car. Apparently, it was flooded with water, somehow the when it rains the water makes it way to the ECU but when he hired an electrician the electrician said that there was nothing wrong with the ECU so I thought great. At least I don't have to pay money from my own pocket to get it replaced because apparently the ECU is not covered under the premium RAC warranty.
The electrician told my mechanic that the part he ordered and got it replaced it was faulty so my mechanic contacted the VW (Volkswagen) people (because that's where he ordered it from) and asked for another one. So he installed it and still the problem wasn't fixed so he called me and explained to me what happened and now he had to call out an Audi expert. That was few days ago.
When I called my mechanic today to ask him for an update on my car, he said that the Audi expert said that there is a fault in the ECU and that he is trying to find a cost effective way to fix it instead of replacing the whole thing, I feel like my mechanic had my car more than what I did. I been in and out from garages for a good 2 months and still going. I would not recommend this car to anyone and it's a huge disappointment also worth me ruining that the fuel consumption is really bad I have to top up my car fuel £65 every 2 weeks and I mostly travel back and forth from work to home for 5 days sometimes 4 days a week, 10 minutes to drive to work and 10 minutes to drive back home. I wonder what will be next.

In March of 2017, I walked into the Audi Mission Viejo, California dealership to have a minor repair on my leased 2014, A8. They said it would take 15-20 minutes so I took the time to look at the new A8 cars that were available. Jon, the salesman came up to me and asked if he could help – I said I was just looking because my lease doesn’t come due for another 2 months. He said, “How would you like to save a couple hundred dollars per month and get a new one today”. My first question was what happens to the old lease where there are 2 more payments due. He said that those payments would be wrapped into the new lease and even then, I would save a couple hundred dollars per month.
I explained that this would be the only way I would be interested in getting a new car that day because I was actually thinking of other less expensive cars and wasn’t particularly happy with the service I had received from Audi during the current lease. Enticed by the offer, I ended up picking out a new 2017 A8, and before I left, I realized that I wasn’t even coming close to a couple hundred-dollar savings, in fact the payment was about $60 less. I just accepted this considering that they took back the other car with still two months of payments. He also told me that even if there was some minor wear and tear Audi waives that when you are leasing a new car and “staying part of the family”.
Fast forward 2 years and my wife and I are moving to a new home. We are getting a mortgage and something shows up on my credit which is 820 on the FICO scale. I’m told by the bank that I need to do a conference call with Audi and an outside credit company that deals with these situations. During the call, I am told by Edgar at Audi that I still owe $3,236.74 from the 2015 lease. He explained that the amount due was because Audi took a loss when they sold the car, excess wear and tear, and lease payments that were still due. I pointed out to him that I have never seen one single bill via mail or any other form in two years.
Also, while I was speaking to him, I checked my online account with Audi which showed all past and current leases and nothing showed there either. He agreed that this is a problem and I should contact my dealer and Audi of America. He also said that this does not show on my credit as something that is outstanding but then, when I pointed out that is why we are having this call, he said that should never had/have an effect on my credit. What am I supposed to do, call Audi every time I need a loan and have my credit checked? I will NEVER have anything to do with Audi or any company affiliated with Audi, they are as crooked as they come.
Oh, and by the way, on another subject that you as a consumer should be aware of, several months ago I asked for a copy of the lease for my wife’s 2015 Q7, they ended up sending someone else’s credit application which had a lot of personal information like social security number, DOB, where they work, how much they make, etc. When I called back to let them know, they made the same mistake and sent me yet again someone else’s information. Third try, I finally got a copy of my lease. Bad business is the best I can say for Audi!

Just serviced my 2013 A4 at AUDI Santa Monica dealership. Probably the worst experience had with them, they overcharged me by almost $300 (Paid ~$615 while last service was the same and it cost me ~$300, Service Rep claimed that last time workload was less than this time which is not true), been a hectic week for me so had no energy to argue with someone who is probably not responsible.
My coolant light sometimes turns on and I have been to that dealership 3 times while car was UNDER WARRANTY to fix this issue and every time I was assured it was fixed and the issue never got fixed. Been regularly servicing my car over there (Have done all required services with Audi) during this period but I was informed that I need to pay an abnormal fee since there is an issue with the coolant pump and parts need to get replaced and it won't be UNDER WARRANTY since it is a new issue which is not the reality (Paperworks proves my statements).
Had the same issue with my brakes, no one ever mentioned to me that my brakes have issues (Been following company's guidelines and scheduled maintenance) so now it is going to cost me ~$1K to fix. It is smarter to not go after $300-$1K more for someone who can potentially be your repeat client and make you more money than the change these service departments are after. (I know this since I am a Business Analyst.) Please educate your dealerships on how to run a business. GOODBYE AUDI FOREVER, from now on will take my car to a reputable decent mechanic. Will never also purchase another AUDI in my life.

Purchased a new vehicle and was convinced by my dealer to finance through Audi in order to get a credit off the purchase price. Asked if there was a payoff penalty and was assured there was none. After the 2 month waiting period required for Audi Financial to establish the account, I contacted them for a payoff quote. This is only good for 10 days. In that period of time, I re-financed through my credit union and had them send a check directly to Audi Financial. Audi claims they never received the first check, so my credit union issued a second check which was received. Unfortunately, Audi Financial did not honor the first pay off amount so due to the interest accrual, I continued to get statements with "Balance Due = $0.00".
After the 3rd statement of this type, I contacted Audi Financial and they said that they had not put the check from my credit union as a pay off amount. They just put the money towards my payments and my next payment wasn't due until Jan 19, 2023 (the last payment). But my vehicle was still not technically paid off. In the last phone conversation I had with Audi Financial, I was told that they had received the first check but there was a problem with the account number so they didn't apply it to the loan - which would have paid off my loan. Seems like it was very intentional in order to get more interest from the loan/financing. Although there is not a technical charge for paying off the loan at Audi Financial, it seems that they have ways of getting the most interest possible from their customers. I love my Audi vehicle, but I will never use Audi Financial again.

I bought a brand new 2014 diesel Q7. I loved it, loved how it drove, the gas mileage, its acceleration and handling. I loved the sound system and how roomy it was, and how comfortable it was to drive and ride in from almost any seat. 3rd row kind of sucked, but usually their kids anyway. So what happened? The government. Freakin California says they lied about emissions. Diesels anywhere else in the world (literally - I've been there) are mainstream BECAUSE of their fuel efficiency. So they pay me 8K to keep my car and "fix it" so that it meets ridiculous standards of emissions. I got it fixed May? of 2018. It's now been in the shop 2x for 7-10 days per time because of the ad blue light indicator/system being faulty.
This last time they thought there was air in the lines so they had to have the mechanic drive it for 50 miles (with my permission - I live 2 hours from the dealer) to verify purging of the system. They also found out I had it chipped at some point - way before their fix and of course now they want to say their warranty for the fix is no longer viable. My performance chip that is no longer even connected due to their re-construction of my exhaust system has nothing to do with their ad-blue fiasco. Of course, in Audi's best interest they no longer offer diesel vehicles in the US but will still offer them overseas. Along with VW who has a smashing replica in 2019 of what this car used to be. I used to love my Audi, now it's an anchor and potential money pit.

I took my 2016 Red Audi A4 to Audi of South Atlanta in Union City Georgia on 12/12/2018 in the afternoon hours. I took it for the after coolant pump recall and to get a diagnostic as to why my reverse camera would intermittently work. I got there, dropped off the car, signed for my loaner car & acknowledged the 149$ diagnostic fee. Upon taking the trunk apart they came upon my wiring harness underneath the deck lid had been cut and taped back together possibly by a previous body shop that repaired the car after an accident back in 2016 when I got the car new. They were saying that over the course of two years and the wires being held back together by tape that they became loose.
We then got State Farm involved and did a 3 way call with the dealership and they agreed to do another tear down at the cost of State Farm, as I had requested them not do any repair work as I would take it up with the previous body shop. But State Farm wanted to send an adjuster out to get an estimate of the damage. Hear nothing until 12-26-2018 When I got an email about the findings and if I wanted to do the repairs or not, and I did NOT respond to the email I instead asked Tim ** the service adviser why I was receiving the email and if it was just automated because the last communication I had during the 3 way call was that State Farm was paying for the repairs not me that I never wanted the work done if I was going to be responsible for the bill. He text me and said “Let me verify with State Farm that they are bringing a check by today or tomorrow”.
12-27-2018 I hear from Tim ** that State Farm is denying the repair and that the repair has already been completed because they sent him over the document containing the estimate he took that as approval for repairs is what he told me. I asked to see said document because I was not in any communication about the repair being done until after the fact. He texts on the same date how pissed he is because the State Farm claims adjuster would not allow him to speak to his supervisor and ask if I would call them the next day and allow a 3 way call with the supervisor of said claims agent “Carter”. Over the next business day when Tim ** realized that State Farm was not going to pay for repairs as they did not and have no right to do approve repairs to my car only I can approve said repairs and I NEVER approved ANY repairs!!
So they start looking at me for the money, first telling me the cost of the repair telling me & the advisor at Audi of America that I need to pay it and go after my insurance company for reimbursement. Then when they realize I am not about to pay almost 2k for this repair they then tell me they could charge me the 725$ for the rental car which my agreement was for a “Loaner” car… A few days going back and forth with my local agent, this dealer, and the sheriffs department they then agree to release the car for a lowered amount of $500 and they put my broken part back in and keep their new part. I declined once again as the only thing I approved was a $149 diagnostic fee.
I then call Audi Financial who I have the vehicle financed with and told them the story and they really weren’t much help. So after being threatened with the cost of the loaner Audi I decided to return it and get a few things out of my car since it was clear they were going to have it for quite some time. When they finally bring my car around for me to retrieve property out of they had in my front seat my LICENSE PLATE to take with me… talk about taking possession of something I have paid 27k for to this day… WOW! Then I start looking into legal options and possibly even just letting Audi reposes the vehicle as it was going on 3 weeks and no one wanted to help me when this dealer was Clearly STEALING MY CAR!!! I let it go for a week or two this new year as I was stressing way too much.
Today on 01-21-2019 I call and speak with service manager Allen, I was being nice considering this dealer has done nothing but rob me for 4 weeks as I’m paying a car payment and insurance on a car they have. I ask if they would consider $350 instead of $500 like they had offered a few weeks back to just put this all behind us since they were in the wrong for doing repairs I never approved and he said no that is not what he and the service advisor offered me and that to take the car off the lot it would be the full $500.
I said, "Okay if you all want to continue being crooks I will find a way to get my car" and he interrupts me and says that they are not crooks and if that is how I felt that I can pay the full invoice price and to not come up there to get the vehicle until I have all the money including the loaner car and hangs up!!! Here I am going out of my way to be the bigger person and Pay them money of any amount other than $149 and I get that type of attitude and yelling from a member or management?? I guess this is what to expect when owned by Buttler Automotive Group out of Macon Ga… Update to come when I retrieve my car.

My first bad experience was at Audi of Silverspring, MD where I schedule to take my car in and booked a Loaner. On getting there, I was referred to Enterprise somewhere at the back of the Audi facilities. Enterprise wasted my time and within one hour, the provided 2 cars that did not work. I called my Service Associate multiple times and left messages. I did not get him and he never replied my call.
At the edge of one hour, I decided to go back to Audi. I still did not meet my Service Associate. I told them to give me my car and left in annoyance without doing the service (they have not started working on it after one hour). I took it to Audi of Bethesda, MD but was very dissatisfied with their service as well - location difficult to locate, no clear directions that the Dealership location is different from the Service Center, poor estimation of completion time, technicians handled the car roughly and carelessly. I tried reaching through the text I got but no response even though the text stated I could use it to reach my service technician - bad responsiveness.
On the next one, I went back to Silverspring and planned to wait while the service was done so I would not run into issues of getting a Loaner car. I got my car back but before I drove back home, the lever used to open the Hood fell off like three times. I kept putting it back and it kept coming off. I then decided to keep it in the Glove Compartment but before that, I took a picture and sent it to the Audi Silverspring SMS text line that the Service Person uses to communicate. I explained and requested a callback. I never got one but after 2 weeks, I got a text asking if I was satisfied. I referred him to my earlier SMS with the picture but never got a response back up till now. I called to leave a message to advise I was trying to get this resolved before leaving an online feedback - no response. Great cars but very poor maintenance service department(s).

I initially bought an Audi because of their quality and excellent engineering. However, I don't believe I will ever purchase another automobile from this manufacturer again. At 60000 miles my MMI system experienced a complete failure. The Navigation display would not come up, the radio wouldn't work, the navigation system completely failed. I took the car to the dealer here in Denver and was told the 5F MMI component would have to be replaced. Cost of the part $2200, $400 for labor. To say the least this is outrageous. Needless to say I am done with Audi, they are obviously not the reliable luxury cars I thought they were. Save your money! Don't patronize.

Audi A4- an 8 year, 97,000 mile, disposable car. I purchased a CPO 2010 Audi A4 in 2013 with low mileage from Tom Williams Audi in Birmingham Alabama. Since purchase, I have always had it serviced at Jack Ingram Audi in Montgomery, Alabama. Since owning it I have had two major engine issues and the last one has caused it to be a "throw away car". Immediately upon purchase, with about 22,000 miles the car was burning a lot of oil and after continual visits to Audi for over a year, they informed me of the excessive oil consumption recall and it did not pass the "excessive oil consumption test". Under warranty, the car underwent the #2 engine rebuild around 2014-2015 at about 35,000 miles.
After that repair, everything seemed fine until October 2018, when the car began shaking and the engine light went on. I brought it to Audi and they said it was a fouled spark plug. However, 30 days later, with 97,000 miles, the car began shaking again but this time the engine light came on and was flashing and the car would not drive. I had it flat-bedded to Audi, where I was told there is an extended timing chain/tensioner warranty, so not to worry. Audi paid to replace the timing chain/tensioner but I was told I needed a "valve job" for 4100.00, because of damage to the engine when the timing chain failed. I was told because of a pending class action lawsuit that Audi would pay on a sliding scale which would be 25% for my year and mileage. That would leave $3400.00 cost to me for a car with a $4000.00 trade in value.
Although being shocked about all this, I approved the work because I was not in a position to buy a new car, especially with $0 trade in money. However, I get another call today, telling me that there is more bad news, that at least two of the pistons had bent and there is something possibly cracked and I need a "long block" (ie new engine) for $11,000 of which Audi will pay 25% to repair due to the class action timing chain litigation. It makes no financial sense to spend $8250.00 (75% of the 11,000) for a car with a 4000 value. However, if I don't repair it, Audi owes me 0 for the total loss of my car that was working fine until the timing chain failed.
So at 8 years and 97,000 miles, this Audi A4, luxury car is a throw away car. Audi should have had to cover the engine damage caused by the faulty chain. This is the lions share of the repair cost. I feel Audi should owe me the full trade in value of the car because it broke as a result of the timing chain which they admit was faulty. Audi customer service was curt and told me to file with the class action suit when I asked if they would consider paying anything additional (this was several days before the "fairness hearing" was held on December 12). I would never advise anyone buy an Audi after this experience.

I bought an A4 a year and a half ago used but in incredible condition. Now for my confusing part. The car starts to idle rough, push the turn off button and keeps running for a few seconds. The engine light appears the next day. Ran code and came up timing. I then read it been quite the problem it seems. People having catastrophic engine failure at worst. I then see Audi has been sued.
I contact the lawyer firm representing the plaintiffs (on the tensioner failure) and was sent a form because my Audi was one of the models affected. Was told as long as I bring it to an authorized Audi dealership it would be covered 100% and if brought to an independent repair shop $1500 would be covered. Well I called the only dealer near me 50 miles away and was told, "Yes we are aware of the extended warranty and yes Audi will cover it." Okay great!!! Had the car flat bedded there. Got a call they received my car. Great then a service advisor called and said it would be a few days to a week to repair. I was told it a 10 hour job. I said okay.
Then a few days later I called back because I had a question. The service advisor told me, "I was just about to write you an email. I have some bad news. Audi will only cover 25% of the repair and need maintenance records." What!!!! What happened to you know all about the extended warranty and look forward to seeing your car. I said as far as the maintenance records they are all listed on Carfax. Was told they can't use that. (Why? Extended warranty companies use them along with Edmunds.) I don't know. Like I said I'm confused completely. It's been over a week and haven't heard a word back from anyone. I will say for the record the employees I did talk to were very polite but polite doesn't answer why I haven't heard back about the status.

I brought a new Audi A4 in 2013 and it has less than 50K miles on it as of today. Last year in June, the car doesn't accelerate and starts shaking while moving. I had to get it towed to the service shop where and after 3-4 days of tests, they informed me that they would need to fix the engine which would cost anywhere from 5-8K. Given that it was out of warranty, they expected me to bear the costs. It was ridiculous to even think that a premium car like Audi runs into such issues with less than 40K miles (at that time) and that they talk about warranty. It was really shameful and after several calls and discussions, they fixed the issue. However the fear of recurrence has always stayed and I have not been confident to take it for any long drives.
And I got it serviced 3-4 months ago (450$ bill) and was praying that it continues to work fine. And again yesterday the car wouldn't start. The EPC lights turn on and again I had to get the car towed to the servicing shop. They now inform me that I should first get the starter plug replaced (845$ - parts and labor) so they can diagnose further as to why the EPC light is on. I don't know what else they are going to come up with tomorrow and the mere thought scares me. So much for a premium car. The car wouldn't even last 50K miles without an issue though I have been getting it serviced on time with Audi service center only. What are my options to pursue further with the Audi care team?

The car had a short that melted the wiring and harness as well as hose and covers leading back to the alternator. The repair was not done to Audi Specifications nor was it noted in any service documents. This is a new car? What happened? Who fixed it? It looked like some backyard mechanic did the work. Why was it not noted in a service record and why was it not disclosed to me. We would never have purchased this car. The second Audi dealer was so concerned they took photos of the damage and forwarded them to Audi USA.
In addition it has been 60 plus days and we have no license plates or registration for the vehicle. The temporary permit expired 3 days ago and the dealer has not sent the plates. The dealer sent us a letter to offer to the Police asking for them to be patient as our plates are delayed. Can you believe this? All this has been reported to Audi USA. We were told this would be taken care of and we would get a new vehicle. We were told not to drive the car as is. "How could we as we have no plates?"
Forward 5 business days and still nothing. I have rented a car and have taken legal action and filed a complaint with the New Jersey Attorney General’s office. Audi Newton defrauded us and worse has not provided the required license or registration. Audi USA has done nothing to remedy this unbelievable experience and now we are forced to take legal action. I bought a ex demonstrator Audi A6. To be fair it's a beautiful car in every way. It's the third Audi I have had after switching from BMW. My car broke down over three weeks ago and had to be recovered to an Audi dealer for diagnosis of fault. They told me a few days later that the battery had failed and that batteries for Audi Cars were on back order... We are into week 4 now and No sign of battery! The dealer eventually put me into a new Q5 but it simply is not the same car or of the standard that my car is but it has kept me on the road.
Now you only find out how good a company is when they have to resolve a problem and Audi UK customer service is hit and miss, my first contact was excellent, but the second when I complained why my car was still not rectified could not give a hoot! In fact the belligerent attitude of the lady dealing with update was very dismissive. Someone employed by a top brand to help was totally unhelpful.
Anyway the issue here is my car has been with Audi for over 4 weeks now and there is no end in sight, I feel sorry for the dealer as this is a AUDI UK problem and I hear that a bad batch of batteries might be the reason. So think on when you walk into the showroom and they are wow-ing you they are only as good as the time when they have to sort out a problem. I suppose the other side of this issue is that it's made me look at another brand and I will test driving their car tomorrow and Audi will probably lose me and those I come into contact with...what a shame.

I found the car online and it is a beautiful car. However, I have had about 3 recalls in the two years that I have owned it. At the time I purchased the car, I bought it sight unseen but by online photos. I discovered the following... the spare tire is not regular size tire but a “donut”, dual temperature control is not standard, the Cd changer no longer exists, and 60/40 split folding seats were not available, as well as a push-button parking break which would probably not be of much service if your accelerator gets stuck and you need to shift to neutral to try to stabilize the car.
Features that seem to be standard (or just luck on my previous buys) are now optional or obsolete. Wish I had kept my ‘06, looking to trade-down. When did leather seats become leather inserts... ugh... Oh, yes, the turbo diverter valve has a gasket and required a new piston driven diverter valve, the cost for replacement is approx $3500.00, Why has this issue not been a recall since the issue is addressed online when you get the diagnostics code. Shame on you Audi... Sacrificing quality for cheap.

I have a 2014 Audi Q5 and recently for no reason whatsoever, the power steering failed and nearly caused an accident. I mentioned it to my local Audi service department and had them look at it while it was in for 3 other recalls. They agreed that the power steering was not responding and it would have to be replaced. I explained to them that the car is barely driven and has never been in an accident. And I find it unacceptable that a car company that has built a reputation on handling and drivability would have a complete steering failure at 40k miles which they informed me is just out of warranty. I was told at my local Audi dealership that It would have to be paid for out of pocket so I called Audi customer support. This was over 2 weeks ago and since then I have gotten no clear information on the issue. I have been through 3 customer service reps and they have changed stories multiple times.
The second to last time they informed me that there was a program that the local Audi dealership has to help in situations like this. So I went back to Audi only to find out that they have no such program and they weren't even told about this from the customer service rep. I was supposed to receive an answer almost a week ago and it keeps getting pushed off. At this point I still can not drive the car or else risk getting into a serious accident. I also want to point out that I did research and found out that the SQ5 version of this Audi has a recall on the same issue. I further researched it thinking that the steering system was different only to find out it is the same part number. This is clearly a defect and Audi should be responsible for fixing it. I can't even get a clear answer as to what it would cost since the dealership has changed the price on me multiple times.
At this point the car can't be driven and I don't see why I would need to spend up to $3,500 to replace the entire power steering rack on a car with low miles that has been well taken care of. I also don't trust the service department at my local Audi since they informed me that my brakes and rotors need to be changed yet I just had them done about 1,500 miles ago. I am at a loss with Audi and just want the steering replaced so I can safely trade this in on a different brand vehicle or sell it out right. I don't feel safe driving it and I wouldn't want to sell it to someone else as is. If this car is driven it will cause a severe accident.

Third, on October 1, I asked Audi about a 1-month lease extension, gave my credit card information, but when told of the amount ($2,164.42), I canceled the request at once. Your agent didn’t cancel as I asked. I’m now disputing that amount on my credit card. Fourth, when I tried to sell the car to Carmax on October 5, Audi sent another purchase quote — adding more than $4,270. I refused this exorbitant second quote, as I was within the time parameters of the first quote. After five hours of conversations with Audi agents in three states, Audi agreed to stand by the original purchase quote.
During those five hours, however, I was often faced with “waiting for the next available agent” up to 20 minutes, voicemails, and agents who could not make decisions and passed me off to others. It’s unfortunate all Techs only look for Fault Codes on a Computer when the problem can be a caused by a mechanical failure. At the end of the day, it’s not a shop foreman’s car, and he will never feel what you feel with the vehicle.

I own an Audi A4 Quattro that with less than 60.000 miles started with a metallic sound from the front wheels, it turned out that the bearings had to be replaced... I had a extended warranty which Audi refused to honor. It is very disturbing that a company that is so proud of their 4-wheel drive would have such premature problems with their wheel bearings. To add insult to injury, the dealer had not updated the history of the car with the repairs done, the brand said there must have been "internet problems". To me, it seems like a deliberate effort to hide problems that may affect other owner, which is the reason I am posting this complaint to ConsumerAffairs.

2011 Audi Q5 - Really disappointed with this car. The oil consumption is crazy and because I started to have issues with the consumption after 2015 but even though the class action lawsuit was settled, I am now not qualified to get my oil issue fixed because I am past the date and the mileage is over 80,000. Really disappointed that Audi is handling these cases so poorly even though it is clearly their manufacturing error! Horrible customer service.

Repeated issues with carbon build-up which turns the engine indicator light on. Audi has cleaned the valves previously, at no charge to us acknowledging this problem and that it will likely recur. It has recurred, but now they want $1300 to remove the engine for a thorough cleaning. 2009 was the first year for the Q5 and a fair solution would be to recall this car or take care of the cost for this recurring problem. Audi has declined any further assistance. We will never purchase an Audi again.

I have a 2012 Q7 with 125000 on the clock. I must say this is one of the most reliable and enjoyable vehicles I have owned. It never breaks down and just requires regular maintenance. As for people complaining about noisy brakes I find this only occurs if the pads are not properly bedded. As other posters said they are unwilling to do 5 or 6 fast stops from 60 mph to 20 in succession on a deserted road. If they did this as recommended by the Audi dealer this would bed the brake pads properly. This vehicle has high performance brakes not your cheap brakes found on most cars. I am so satisfied with Audi we replaced our Volvo with another Audi. When the time comes to replace the Q7 I will be getting another Audi.

My wife loves this 2012 A4. We bought it new in 2012. It's great looking (black on black), drives well and has plenty of room plus it's a manual transmission model, a requirement for her. Issues include a weird bug in the emissions control system which causes the engine check light to come on intermittently when she fills it up with gas and a finicky air flow meter which needs cleaning frequently. It's been in the shop four times for the intermittent check engine light with a lot of expense and no result. We just live with it. Another annoyance are the constant Emails and Snail mails we received advising us to trade the car in on a new one from Audi.
The trade in offers were well below Kelly blue book trade in value and wouldn't stop coming although I continuously asked the senders to cease sending them. Also, Audi no longer provides a manual transmission so the offer is pretty much moot to begin with. Last, the service costs are way to high even in the warranty period and the only people that can turn off the maintenance reminder is the dealership. In conclusion, it's great looking and driving car with a dubious fuel delivery system and really poor support from the dealership and Audi of North America.

The styling of the Audi is incomparable, is definitely not a BMW and definitely not a Mercedes, it has its own niche in the market and it’s just beautiful. I finally found a car brand I love!! I will buy another Audi.

Audi handled great. Good gas mileage. Fuel economy opt and looks good. I used a 2017 for about a month. Hated to give it up. Looks like a luxury sedan handles like a sports car. Very roomy.
