August 2014 - Went to AAA auto for the standard oil change with a $14.95 coupon. I knew that with it being a Friday afternoon, I would need to make an appointment. Called and time was scheduled for 3:00. I arrived at 2:40. At 3:20, I look and my car was sitting in the same place I had parked it. When I asked if my car was done, they said they were getting ready to bring it back right away. WHAT!! I went outside of the garage to watch and see. They were actually performing the oil change when I overheard the technicians say, "That's that nurse there." 1st of all, everyone who wears scrubs is not a nurse and you should not talk about customers PERIOD and that it was heard by me is RUDE. So overall, 1 hour later, I had an oil change and will NEVER return to this location. UNPROFESSIONAL and I urge anyone to pay the extra $ and go somewhere else. I plan on contacting corporate office. As a veteran and a customer, I will never go back to AAA Auto Tanner location.

Membership experience is horrible!!!!! Back in March, 29 2013, I enrolled to the AAA for $139.00. As I was purchasing this membership online, it offered 3 extra months of services at no additional cost. With this being said, my renewal was supposed to be executed on JUNE 29, 2014. Around September 2013, I was contacted by the local AAA office to offer additional services. They added my husband as what they said free of charge. In February 2014, I was contacted AGAIN by the local AAA agency to offer this renewal which I declined, since my current insurance policy includes roadside assistance.
AGAINST my will and without my consent as per phone conversation previously sustained with one of their representatives, AAA renewed my membership. FIVE WEEKS before expiration. For an amount significantly larger than agreed at the beginning of the membership (Original price was $139, renewal $208). I called to make the claim when I saw my card statement, which I've received in JUNE. They blamed me for not calling before the membership was renewed. Their poor business ethics should not be compensated with my hard work. They have processed this with the worst of intentions not only against my consent expressed, but way ahead of the renewal time. They're a RIPOFF... Another SCAM wrapped in a "nice service" paper!

On 6/18/14, my car broke down in Felton, CA. AAA towed my car 1/4 mile to a repair shop in Felton. On 6/27/14 my car broke down again, this time in Concord, CA. I requested a split-level, flat-bed tow truck, which successfully towed the car on 6/18/14. This time AAA refused to tow my car saying it was too low to tow. AAA suggested that I contact tow truck companies on my own and apply for reimbursement.
After 24 hours, I finally got the car towed 1.8 miles to a repair shop in Concord. I am absolutely disgusted with the attitude of AAA, especially their lack of concern about my situation. My claim for reimbursement was denied. Why did AAA accept my annual fee for towing insurance when they do not cover towing for my car? I feel that AAA should pay my towing fee of $95 for the 6/27/14 incident or refund my annual fee of $91.

Beware if you are purchasing from the advertised "Deals" offered by the American Automobile Association (AAA). I am a Premier member of AAA that subscribes to AAA's "ClubDeals". I was solicited by AAA ClubDeals and subsequently purchased an expensive item on 6/25/2014, and I have never received said item, one month later, as today is 7/24/2014. The disturbing issue is that when I have tried to resolve this issue with AAA over the past 3 (three) days, I have gotten NO assistance whatsoever, despite my multiple emails and posts on their appropriate webpages, and phone calls with more than a half dozen AAA "customer service" reps.
These reps ALL claim that ClubDeals are a separate entity from AAA membership services and they can only refer me to an elusive department, that when I call the number (855-222-3245) I get a answering machine asking me to "leave your name and number and we will get back to you shortly". I left my name and number 72 hours ago, and still have not heard from anyone from AAA. I intend to dispute my credit card payment and personally write to AAA President & CEO. Shame on you AAA!

Saturday, July 19th, 2014, my husband and I was driving to PA, when our transmission went out. Our car a 2013 Nissan Sentra, that we purchased from Midway Nissan November 2013. Luckily we were exiting the highway, was able to get the car across the road to a nearby hotel. Called, Triple A, and they dispatched a tow truck drive to us. We were at 200 N. Mountain Rd. going to Faulkner Nissan at 3925 Paxton St, both in Harrisburg, PA. When Cannady Towing arrived (they are located in Lemoyne, PA) our 6.54 mile drive turned into 13 miles. Tried calling the towing company, and they must have a GPS system or Google maps, but they wanted to continue to argue with us. Had to file a dispute with my bank. And they along with Triple A have not refunded my money as of yet.

In April 2012, AAA sold a car battery to me. Their warranty is for 3 years. When my battery died on me in Apr. 2014, I called them to come in & replace it. They came by and "recharged it". I did everything they said & the car wouldn't turn on later the same day. Called back & they came by again. Their agent stopped by and told me he can't replace my battery and put me on the phone with his manager (Norma **) and I expressed my frustration that I was stranded on the street because of the battery they did not fix. (Please note: I did not use profanity or anything else. I merely told her how disturbed I am by the bad service I've been receiving.) Norma had the audacity to yell at me. I asked her to lower her tone and asked for her last name. She refused to give me her last name, insulted me and hung up the phone on me! I've never been so disrespected in my life.

Approximately 2 weeks ago I applied for AAA auto service. Last night I was at the grocery store at 9pm and came out to find my tire had come off of the rim. I quickly pulled out my temporary AAA card and called for assistance. I was told by account services that even though I was in their system, because they had not received my payment they could not provide the service. I was furious, but I offered to pay the AAA person upon arrival and that didn't workout. I am done with AAA. I'd rather pay for auto assistance through my insurance or call the local motor assistance. If AAA can't help me change my tire at 9pm, I don't need them.

Triple A I know now is a horrible company. Roadside assistance my ass. I called the first guy I hung up on me 30 seconds into the call after I was on hold for a good 20 minutes. Frustrated I called back and got on with this woman, I gave her all of my information. I had run out of gas on the side of the highway. She then told me I need my credit card because they would not pay for the gas and that I would have to pay for the gas when the truck got here? Finally I got my friend to lend me their card number so that they would come. I was on the phone with them for about 45 minutes total before they told me it was going to be about another hour before anyone got here so I said ** that you guys are entirely too slow and are a terrible company. Not my first time trying them and I've only had bad experiences.

I bought a car few days ago. I went online to get a quote, checked AAA online, it says $125. Few hours later, I received a call from an agent to review my quote. He kept asking me the regular question about the car and other info. I ask him about how much I'm going to pay per month, he said $170 plus deposit. The total around 400. I said ok but don't charge me till I sign the contract!! Later he emailed me the contract, the same time I get better offer for $123/month. I respond please cancel my policy and do not charge me. A day later, I check my account, they charge me!!!! When I tried to call him, he's not answer the phone. I called the customer service, explain what happened, ask for refund. They put me on hold, pull my file, they failed to contact him. She said she emailed his supervisor and she going to give me courtesy call. Still waiting. Bad experience from a quote, end up paying $400!!!!! I'll never recommend anyone to sign with them.

On Jun 1, my wife got her GPS tangled in the steering wheel while driving. She could not untangle it, and called AAA from the side of the road. The guy came, untangled the cord, and then decided to do a battery test. Told my wife she would not make it to her destination. She bought his story and paid 100.00 for a battery. Problem is that just two days before, since I was travelling, I check my car and my motorbike. Everything was okay. I called AAA, San Diego on June 5 to complain. Every time I am told it will take a few days. Thus far, June 26 no one has called although they keep telling me my complaint is "high priority." This is extortion.

I have been a member for 32 yrs. I have been signed up with AAA plus for about 10 yrs. & made the mistake of signing up to have my yearly membership taken from my checking. AAA took the money & I've NEVER received the card. When I went into AAA to register my car, I asked about getting my card since the money was already taken. The sarcastic woman said "we sent it out." I told her I did not receive it & she told me to check with the post office on what my address is. I told her I lived where I have for a long time. I asked to speak to a supervisor & when I spoke with her, I told I'd like to change it back where my money is not taken automatically again because the way it was before I received the card & then paid.
I still never received the card so I called up and spoke with someone on the phone & said I really want my card. She said she'd send one out and it still has not shown up! Some lady has called here three times but never leaves a number where I can call her back. Logically she should leave a number where I can call her back because she will most likely not reach me. Still of course no card. I don't think I'll ever receive it. Things have changed at AAA, I was treated rudely when I was there; it was unbelievable and now not leaving a telephone number where I can call them back. If I ever talk to them I will ask them to just send my card to their office & I'll pick it up. Why must I suggest this? I don't believe for one minute they have ever sent out a card. I receive my bank statement, stock statements and very important mail, & never have had a problem in receiving anything else. Now each time a card is supposed to be made up and sent it can't be done. Instead I'm lied to and told to check with the post office. What's the post office going to do, but tell me I always receive all other mail?

As long-time AAA members, my wife and I used to take our cars to the AAA shop in Greenville SC whenever they needed service or repair. However, I hadn't been there in quite a while because every time we took a car there for a simple service procedure such as an oil change, they would find something else that seriously needed to be repaired or replaced. This morning, I needed a jump start for a 15-month old battery. The road service tech who came to my home tested the battery and said it simply needed to be charged for a couple of hours, so I took it to the AAA shop thinking I could get a free charge. I should have known better. An hour later, I got a call telling me that I need a new battery. Never again!

I am not upset about the standard AAA service. That part was done with high satisfaction. I called for a jump start and and they showed up in less than 20 minutes. Phone service was good. Updates were good. The wait time was great. What I am pissed about is that the guy tried to get me to buy a battery I did not need. When he showed up he was already saying things like "probably a dud battery" before he even open the hood of the car. He attached some kind of diagnostic machine that made no sense and rambled on about voltages and what not. He said the battery was no good and would need to be replaced. I tried to ask about driving around to charge it or if I had enough life in it to take to the dealer to check my warranty.
He kept inferring that the battery was no good and it was at my own risk to try to drive it. He rambling about batteries needing certain amperages to turn over and I'd have to drive to Vegas just to charge it enough for it to crank up again. I was already skeptical but I was in a pinch and needed my car functional so I told him to just put in a new battery. In the meantime I got in the car which was running and shut the door. I noticed the dome light was left on. I got that sick feeling in my stomach and quickly pulled out my phone to do a Google search. I came up with a lot of hits about AAA battery scam complaints. Before the guy got the new battery in I told him to forget it. I'd take my chances with the "dud" battery.
Since the car was running I drove over to Pep Boys and they checked the battery for me. Their test only said the battery was low but not dead. The PB mech said I need to drive around to charge it some more and then retest it to be sure. He also noted that if it was a complete dud then it wouldn't hold any charge and shouldn't turn over by itself at all, which it had already done 4 times since my initial jump. I drove it around for a couple hours and checked the turn over a few times. Started up instantly. The next morning it started up again - no problem. I drove over to Pep Boys again and retested. All my voltages and amperages and whatever else a battery does was fine. The PB mech said it look slightly low but nothing indicated a problem with the battery. He didn't recommend that I get a new battery. So why did AAA?

I too have had a recent negative experience where a 2 yr old battery from AAA died 3 times over a weekend and they wouldn't replace it. They give me the typical canned response that others have documented. They also throw their 3rd party contractors under the bus claiming it is their decision and that AAA are not "battery experts". Last time I checked, the battery said "AAA" on it! The problem is that AAA will not reimburse their 3rd party even if the tests are +/- 1v within compliance. To the guys on the field, it's a bad battery but they will not swap it out because they know AAA will not back them.
After numerous escalations and spending inordinate amount of time with them on the phone - threatening, arguing, etc, they reluctantly replace my battery. What bothers me about my whole experience is instead of doing the right thing, they wait to see whether the customer will persist and "wait it out". To me, this is not right. What I encourage others to do is to file a complaint online with the Department of Consumer Affairs.

NEVER purchase a car battery from AAA. They say it has 3 years warranty. If it's bad they replace it. Well the battery I bought from them it's not even 2 years old and it's bad and they will not replace it. Over the course of 3 months I called them 3 times because my car did not start. 1st they said it's the transmission; 2nd they said it's the wires connected to the battery, which my husband replaced because of them. Now when the battery is all the way dead, they said it was because the wires were changed (after I told him that) and it damaged the battery. I am so upset I will never buy anything from them again, and I wish someone will do something about this awful thing they do. I have to go buy a brand new battery.

On April 3, 2013 I had an issue with my battery that required a jumpstart. I called the 800 number and was assured someone would come within 90 minutes. A short time later a representative called back and said everybody he called within 70 miles of my location had refused the call because it was late. Apparently these people don't realize that emergencies don't just happen 9-5 Monday-Friday.
The rep was very apologetic and said he was going to write these contractors up but that is not good enough because this will happen again. He finally got someone who was not affiliated with AAA to come and he confirmed that where this happens (eastern shore of Maryland or the styx as I like to say) this is COMMON PRACTICE. Contractors don’t work after a certain time at night and don't work weekends so if you breakdown on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, good luck finding a AAA contractor to help you. God forbid you are not in a safe location, like the side of the road out in the boonies.

Locked out of my son's car - they are on the way, on the way and then, "Nope" the registration is not in your name. The contract clearly states "any car". We have the same names and addresses. My pocket book with ID is sitting right on the seat and "Nope"! I am still a customer, however I will never buy another car battery from them again. First, their batteries are expensive. Their replacement warranty is no good. They will just keep jumping you and not replace a bad battery you paid good money for, even though all the automotive service stations are rating the batteries 200 cold crank amps as "needs replacement". I needed 2 or 3 jumps from them on their battery and was repeatedly told the battery from them was still good. I waited on average about an hour and a half each time. I now use Sears for batteries and haven't needed a jump. The only good thing about AAA is that they install those expensive batteries and don't charge you for the all road calls you'll need when you get stuck.

I have been a member of AAA roadside service since 1998. I have always paid my bill on time or early. I have not used the service very often but felt good knowing AAA was there if I needed them. One day I had car trouble and limped into a repair facility to see about getting it fixed. They gave me an estimate that was way too high and I could not afford to pay it at the time so I called AAA roadside assistance to have my car towed back to my home to try to fix it myself. I mean I paid for AAA service and felt confident AAA was going to be there for me. NOT!!!
They put me on hold and called the repair shop to check on my car then told me that "My car was worth more than the $700.00 that it would take to repair it" so they denied my tow request because it was at a repair facility that could do the work. Makes me wonder if it's some kind of scam between AAA and repair shops. If the auto shop said $7000.00 I still would not get a tow home. I said, "So next time I need a tow I should push my car out into traffic and create a emergency so I can get a tow" and they responded, "We can't tell you to do that".
AAA made a bad situation into an awful experience. I ended up paying $80.00 to have my car towed home and I fixed it myself for about $100.00. If they have problems with people abusing the service for tows I can see their point but I rarely used it in 15yrs. You think they could evaluate each case. Just look in the computer to see if you abuse the system. No chance, you become a quality customer of 15yrs and get lumped into the same category as the worst customer. Then they have the guts to keep sending junk mail for me to upgrade for being a valued Plus RV customer.
AAA roadside service has become a bad joke. AAA has gotten greedy and it will cost them customers. Shame on AAA and their AWFUL policies. If something works great for many years and then turns on you it's time to take my business someplace else. Too bad AAA that you decided you are so big that individual people mean nothing anymore.

AAA battery sucks. AAA replaced with a new battery on 1/9/2014 and then series of problems started. Daily when I park the car and take in, the next morning the battery is dead. Called multiple times for inspecting the battery and always they were specifying there is some issue with Car which is draining the battery overnight. I took to several service centers, dealership and spent more bucks for diagnosis but keep ending there was no issue with Car. Finally took to an auto electric shop. They diagnosed and concluded it was the battery issue.
After that as well AAA came, ran some test on the battery and said battery is good. My auto electric service person explained what was the issue, but the AAA person came said the battery can't be replaced. To prove the theory of diagnosis done by auto electric shop they gave a temporary battery. Next day there wasn't an issue with car, and Car started as usual. Then called AAA and explained what I did. AAA said first of all the battery installed by them shouldn't be removed and that voids the warranty. Warranty is always for the battery and not for the installation. I kept explaining member services team but AAA wasn't able to listen to me and said they can't do anything with this. I will not renew my membership this time and will never opt battery service from AAA. It is a waste of time and money. Warranty is just a piece of information on paper and they just try to find fault to see how they shouldn't replace the battery.

I have been a member for 15+ years and on 2/12 I requested a return tow of my disabled vehicle from a repair shop. AAA had originally towed the vehicle there when it broke down and when they couldn't repair I requested a return tow to my home. After being promised a driver who finally showed up after several hours, he refused to tow the car citing the vehicle had no windshield. When I told him to come view the car to show it was intact he refused and drove off. He was quite rude - tow service was Hamner. I called AAA and they assured me they would dispatch another tow with priority.
I waited and when 45 min had passed I called again to be told no tow had been dispatched. Again I was told one would be sent. Within 15 minutes I heard from a dispatcher who told me they would not send a tow (3 plus hours have now expired) because my car does not comply with the policy. I indicated it was brought here by AAA and said he would report that tow as outside policy guidelines as it does not qualify as roadside assistance as my car had no steering wheel, or doors. I told him that was not correct and I could send him a pic via phone of the car. He would not agree and told me that the only tow would be at a charge. I asked to talk to a supervisor. The supervisor was apologetic but reiterated the same and was going to send out the same towing company that had originally denied to tow me and drove off after being extremely rude.
I reread the AAA guidelines for towing (I have the premier membership) and a disabled vehicle qualifies so the only reason I can think they denied me is that they are attempting to reduce their costs and cheat members of what they pay for through their membership. To add to this violation of my membership terms I was treated rudely and virtually called a liar about the condition of my car. So after waiting over 3 hours and many calls to AAA with no result I had to secure a tow on my own - I was abandoned by them and left in a dark parking lot outside an auto repair shop only to end up having to call and get a towing company on my own. I requested to have a manager contact me but no one reached out to me. This level of customer service and treatment was disappointing and needs to be looked into but denying members services they have paid for is just wrong.

Fast forward to February 2014. On 2/4/14, my car didn't start, so I called AAA who came out and jump started it, and tested the battery, said it was going bad but tested fine for now and that I must have left something on that drained the battery, and if it didn't start again the next time I should either call AAA or take it to an AAA location for a replacement.
The following day, 2/5/14, again it wouldn't start so I called them again, confident that I would be given a replacement. Nope. The technician tested the battery and said it was 'marginal' but not bad enough to justify a replacement. Two days running doesn't warrant a replacement. They said, "If it happens again, you'll have to call us again. Or, take it to a mechanic and have them test it and if it's bad bring it to us and we'll replace it." In my personal opinion, that's an awful lot of running around and inconvenience, not to mention all the calls that are charged to my account. I don't fault the technician, he had to do what he was told and he was clearly uncomfortable. When I called the customer service line and spoke to a supervisor I got nowhere, and the supervisor was actually quite hostile about it.
This morning - day 3 - again my car did not start. I took it to my mechanic. Nothing wrong with anything but that battery which they said was leaking battery acid and appeared that it was much older than the 2 1/2 years I've had it. I do not recommend this service. They don't stand behind their warranty and are indifferent to customer service, and I believe they are selling substandard batteries. Yes it was convenient 2 1/2 years ago. But the warranty is a joke. After being a AAA member for most of my driving life - 30+ years - I am seriously considering looking for roadside service elsewhere for me and my family. I am DEFINITELY never going to buy a battery from them!

I have ended or they ended the relationship I would have after 20 years. In so many years there is no accountability, customer service or anything else. If you use your membership they do not want you. When you complain no one responds. I want to share with the public that avoiding this company is smart. They are a rip off, they have horrible rude service and you can spend hours on the the road when they screw up the call and when you keep calling since they forgot about you. You then can get charged for 2 calls.

I had a problem with my car probably about 50 or more miles from my home. I thought I had a good car insurance that has my back when I have problems like this with my car. I have not had to use their service in a long time, but when I did I had nothing but long waiting hours on phone and a long time to wait for a towing truck. Instead of the person from AAA telling me where to send the bill, I have to wait again on the phone and I'm not saying just 10 or 15 mins. I was on a very busy intersection with my car and needed roadside assistant and I'm having to wait. I wish it would be the same way when they collect money from me for my car insurance every month. You know I would be cancelled and without car insurance. When I first had AAA their service was excellent, now years down the road, their service stinks! It should go both ways for the service they gave me and give me a discount. I'm thinking seriously of looking into another insurance company and would not recommend anyone to get insurance through AAA!

January 19, 2014 about 12:30 p.m. our Cadillac SRX slid off the foot of the snow-covered driveway as we were turning into the driveway from the main road. In that it couldn't gain traction in the 6" of ground snow, I left it on there on level ground, where it rested about six feet (6') beside the driveway, and walked the 1/4 mile to the house to telephone our snow plough provider. He arrived in 20 minutes and plowed the 1/4 mile driveway in short order; but, the Cadillac was yet snowbound. I additionally, telephoned AAA, told them the situation. AAA dispatched a tow truck & driver.
After one follow-up call and about an hour-ten subsequent to the initial call, the responding, young driver (20-something) assessed the situation and asserted: "AAA won't cover it; but, I'll do it for cash." I objected, telephoned AAA and relayed that conversation, who subsequently called the driver's shop while placing our call on hold. AAA clerk returned to the line to inform me that the driver had decided that the patchy, 1-mm-thin, residual, 1"-3"-wide snow patches on the driveway would put his vehicle at risk and utlimately refused to pull the Cadillac onto the driveway in any event of AAA-or-cash unless the driveway was "sanded;" that is, spread sand onto the residual snow (scattered and intermittent mm-thin patches that were already melting). We sent him on his way with notice that I'd call our snow plough driver immediately to have that criterion met, then renew the AAA call for service.
I called our snow plough provider, who arrived in five minutes (he's a neighbor on our street). He told us that he was out of sand; but, that he can do it tomorrow morning about 7:00 a.m. I immediately thereafter telephoned and complained to AAA, here concerned, to which first the telephone-answering-agent, then her supervisor cavalierly asserted that the tow truck driver's assessment of the situation prevailed over my assessment (which was, in that we walked up to the house and drove the BMW Z3 (sports car) down that 1/4 mile driveway shortly prior to the tow truck driver's arrival, such that the evidence speaks for itself that sufficient traction existed that the tow truck driver's vehicle could gain purchase on the newly ploughed driveway such that he would not be placing his equipment in jeopardy). Each was surprisingly understanding, her saying,"I understand," after every statement I made.
I was approaching frustration with their patronizing, useless piffle comparative to that I'd have experienced in attempting to teach an oyster to play the violin. I admonished both the agent and AAA supervisor that I am the customer in this situation who pays for services advertised via membership; and, the tow truck driver is their means of providing the contractual service. Consequently, why does AAA inexorably accept the tow truck driver's situational assessment over mine, such that their contractor (tow company) decides whether or not AAA road service shall be situationally honored over customer service? Rather like the tail wagging the dog. After all, I've more than a nodding acquaintance with my home's driveway!
I requested that my grievance be transcribed and filed, to which the supervisor contumeliously dismissively denied any accountability for her reckless malfeasance and referred me to file any complaint I have with AAA Arizona (where I purchased and hold my membership). I observed to no avail, that Massachusetts AAA should receive complaints concerning Massachusetts AAA's abuses of discretion, not Arizona AAA. The AAA supervisor inexorably, contumeliously, cavalierly, recklessly, carelessly iterated that if I choose to complain about the foregoing situation, then I must complain to Arizona, where I hold my AAA membership (apparently, Massachusetts AAA believes it's autonomous from the AAA corporation... rather a curious perspective, I say).
I inquired of the AAA supervisor of what use AAA road service is to this "Premier" customer if it provides advertised services capriciously and is willing to unconscionably leave customers in the lurch at the whim of one of AAA's contractors (recall that the driver initially said he'd do it for cash, then defensively reneged as the situation became more political). She changed the subject to maintain control of our telephone conversation. I, finally, reached my limit of listening to her dissembling sophistry and disconnected the line. It's now about 3:30 p.m. and the Cadillac is yet stuck beside the commencement of the driveway.
So, I and mine did a bit of shopping in the Z3, came home; drove up the same 1/4-mile driveway that the tow truck driver had two-hours-previously considered too dangerous to use to move the Cadillac about six (6) feet onto the driveway proper; and, now sit comfortably while our SRX is yet at the base of the driveway because it can't acquire sufficient traction on the ice/snow to pull itself out. Consequent of AAA's unreliability and breach of contract via abuse of discretion, we made plans to extricate the Cadillac ourselves, tomorrow.
AAA's negligence cost us half-a-day (dawn-dusk during winter in Massachusetts) of the living of life, in addition to coping with the emotional distress generated from their abuses of policy and us. Massachusetts AAA's road service is reliable only if it so chooses. Massachusetts AAA, clearly, recognizes no duty under its contract-of-adhesion and appears cavalierly accepting of a potential lawsuit, there concerned, during its continuation of business-as-usual; cost of doing business, you know; small potatoes.

On December 18, 2013, I called AAA membership customer service to let them know I had a battery going bad in my diesel truck that I had purchased from them and was still under a pro rated warranty. I had to call back 3 times before I could find a customer service rep that could actually find where I had purchased my battery because it was under a previous membership number that was still under my name. When I finally got a hold of someone that knew what they were doing, I instructed them that my truck had died a week before but I had jumped it myself. I had just gotten home from taking my truck into O'Reilly Automotive and had the batteries checked and they had instructed me that the battery I had purchased from AAA was going bad and because I drive a diesel, I have two batteries...They stated if I didn't replace the one that was going bad immediately, it would end up causing my other battery to go bad as well.
So I told the rep at AAA that my truck was currently running but won't be for long and I needed to find out what I could do in order to exchange the battery under my warranty. She stated they would send out a service tech and I would not be charged the service. The service tech (a female from Jardine's) showed up to check my battery and although she confirmed the battery was going bad, she would not be able to replace it until my truck had died and left me stranded. While testing my battery she also put her battery charger directly on the paint of my fender and scratched it (which I informed her of while she stood there).
I filed a complaint with AAA, spoke with a manager who basically instructed me of the same thing and pretty much told me he didn't believe me my paint was scratched. On 1/5/14 my truck actually died due to the same bad battery so I called AAA again. I told the customer service rep at that time that the last time I called in December Jardine's tech told me they didn't have my battery in stock so make sure they have one in stock before they come to my home to replace it. She verified they had one in stock while on the phone with me and set up another service call (which I should not have been charged for due to the warranty). When the service tech from Jardine's showed up, he verified my battery was going dead but only jumped my vehicle and told me he could not replace my battery as they didn't have one in stock. He instructed me at that time that I should leave my truck running for at least an hour as he couldn't guarantee my battery would be able to restart my truck if I didn't. Two service calls in and I STILL don't have a battery that should have been covered under a prorated warranty with AAA.
I have since taken my truck in and had the scratches fixed at an auto body shop and have purchased another battery from another company when my truck died on me again. The warranty with AAA was a joke and I will not be purchasing from them again. However, they did charge me for two service calls on 12/18/13 (should not have been charged because the AAA rep on the phone KNEW my truck was running and should have been able to tell me they wouldn't cover the warranty anyway) and on 1/5/2014 (should not have been charged since they showed up with NO BATTERY TO A BATTERY WARRANTY SERVICE CALL).

Had to find ride for son, skip meeting and keep all doors to garage open and doors into house closed. Upon calling several times I concluded that they only contract with ONE of the several tow companies in my area. I should have just called and paid the fee myself. Why hasn't anyone filed a Class Action lawsuit against AAA Motor Club in Connecticut? I read another complaint about a member's expanded membership being cancelled for enrollment ("too many road service calls"). Multiply eighty seven dollars per year by millions of members: that is a lot of membership money with discriminatory underwriting. Why hasn't the State Attorney's office in Connecticut looked at this capricious way of managing membership?

Going to pick up an airplane in Miami on the evening of August 24 my car got a flat tire, call AAA and they told me to wait 30 to 45 minutes. Two hours later they call me back to tell me that they was very sorry but there where no tow truck available in all South East Florida to take care of my car. I decided to go to my parking place riding on the flat tire (close to midnight) because my flight was on 6:00 am. I'd begin a complaint with AAA reclaiming the expenses needed to replace the tire and the rim - I'd destroy it trying to get to my parking place in Miami. After three months of giving me the runaround and no answering phones, finally I received a letter saying that they are not responsible for the damage caused to my truck and I am not receiving any compensation because they utilize third party trucks and are not responsible when things go wrong. My question is, AAA is a company who supposedly is nationwide available to tow your vehicle when needed. If they are not responsible for not having tow trucks available, why do I have to pay $124 a year for having a service they can`t provide? The cost of replacing rim and tire were $224.00.

I have premier service with them. The first time I used my membership, I broke down on I-95 and they told me it would be about 45 minutes. After 2 hours of waiting, I was very concerned and angry but they finally showed up. The second time I called them, it took 2 hours and when the driver came, he said he didn't have time to take my vehicle 35 miles and it was a work truck so he couldn't take it and left. I called the 800 number and told them what the driver said and they said they would get someone out immediately. In the meantime, a resident on the street who had been drinking the whole time I had been stuck came out with a gun pointing it at me saying he thought I was just there to rob him.
Someone called the police. They came and acted like I was a criminal and made me call AAA and they told them and me I needed to move it, and they gave AAA a bit more time. Still nothing so they called their tow company and I had to pay $144 to tow it. I called and filed a complaint and they told me they were so sorry and would reimburse me if I would fax a copy of the tow bill. Well 2 months later and a lot of calls, I finally got a check. Then yesterday, I needed a simple jump and their guy came and said I needed a new battery. I said fine and then said I should change the terminal wires. I said go ahead. He said start it and I tried and it was totally dead, worse than the original battery. It just clicked.
He said it's the starter and I said, "It can't be, I just got it last year and it's been starting fine." He said he knows starters and said "you hear its just clicking not engaging". He started hitting it to prove to me it would start by moving the starter. Still nothing so he took the battery out and said it's not the battery that he originally said was dead. So I called my mechanic and he was mystified about the starter but I bought a new one and changed it. Still just clicked, then got a new battery and still clicked. My mechanic asked did the genius from AAA do anything else and told him he changed the terminal wires. We checked that and the guy never stripped the wire so it was rubber making the connection and that's why it just clicked. We peeled the rubber off and then we had a connection and started right up. It cost me a day's pay $300 plus $200 for the starter and labor I didn't need. If he had just jumped it, I would have been fine. This has been the worst experience with a company I've ever had.

We only called AAA for emergencies and tried to resolve problems on our own first. Isn't this why we have insurance? We were told that AAA MAY consider upgrading our membership after three years. First - I am a member with AAA and have used their service before without any issues. This year 2013, I relocated for work to Huntington Beach and had my brakes go out. I had AAA Plus and called to have my car towed to my mechanic in my previous nearby town (I am a single lady and the tow truck driver was creepy so I do not want to be too specific) and called AAA to arrange a tow and set an appointment with my mechanic. To my surprise, my car was taken to a different mechanic, Gustafson Brothers in Huntington Beach. To my horror, they worked on my car and charged me nearly double what my long time mechanic promised.
Worse, I nearly died because I left the shop and my brakes still were not fixed. Gustafson Brothers wanted additional money - I called AAA but they told me Gustafson Brothers is an approved AAA shop, that they do great work and where I wanted to be towed was not a AAA approved shop...huh? I paid for a PLUS membership to be able to be towed to my mechanic. I called and asked to be towed to my mechanic. My car was taken to another shop, the repairs are faulty and AAA does not care.

On 8/28/2013, I went to AAA Care Center in Frederick, Maryland for a routine oil change. After the technician diagnosed my car, he came to tell me his recommendations for additional services that my car needs. I informed him that I could not have them done today. The technician seemed mad that I was not willing to have them perform the services. When I left the center, I noticed that my car was not breaking properly. I informed my sister and she took my car for a drive 2 days later. She said the car was driving fine and that I was paranoid because of the assessment I received from the technician. I commute to Baltimore every day for work and I am in traffic anywhere from 90 minutes to 2 hour at minimum going to work and returning from work.
On 9/17/13 at approximately 7:30 pm, I was driving home from work and I was approximately 3 miles from home when my driver side back tire fell off in the middle of driving. I immediately pulled over because the tire went rolling up the hill and stopped on the medium. I called AAA road side service so that I could have them change my tire. When the driver arrived, he informed me that the vehicle had to be towed. I was frantic because all I could think about was I have to open at work at 7:45 am the next morning. My sister and I had to miss time from work the next morning and when I arrived at AAA car care, my service was awful. My car was left there overnight so the service advisor had my work order but chose to work on another vehicle first.
When the mechanic came to assist me, he apologized for the work performed by previous technician, informed me my rim had to be replaced and special ordered a new one from Chrysler. I was there for 2 and half hours and at that point, I was told that the job would be completed in 20 minutes so my sister then left and I reassured my job that I would be in the branch at 10:30. Well, it took them an additional 45 minutes. I got up, did not see my car and the cashier informed me that another technician is test driving my car. I was angry so when the service advisor came in with the District Manager Maria, they walked passed me laughing. I asked the service advisor for my key. She laughed and kept saying I am almost finished. I told her this situation is not funny. She said she wasn't laughing but continued to laugh.
I called AAA member relations and emailed them regarding this incident, informed them I was upset. I am a former employee and I would never recommend them to anyone. The roadside staff was great; however, today is 9/26/2013 and I still do not have the rim for my tire. I am still driving on my spare and no one can give me a date as to when this will be resolved. I have lost my patience and no one wants to take responsibility for this. The bottom line is that I could have killed myself or killed an innocent person out there on the road. Please advise. I really would like to contact an attorney.

When he told me to start the car, my door locks went up & down and my dash board start flashing and making sounds/alarms when it started, but when I put in drive it stopped again. He then hooked battery charger to battery itself in trunk. Did test said alternator was bad. So had towed to Seven Day Auto to get alternator replace.
They inform me before work started that I had a engine light on, and key not on, and should not be there. They replaced the alternator and advised me that my computer to car was damaged and that they suspected that when car was jump he had cables wrong and did a reversed polarity on my battery that damaged the CPU on my car. Put in new alternator, but could not get any reading on CPU. I could drive the car, but there was no reading on transmissions or anything else, would drive in 2nd gear, but no speedometer, air, etc. I drove back to Phoenix and put in complaint with AAA complaint ref#** 2006 Chevy Cobalt, had a Tiffany ** working with me, would not give me a rental because battery company sub contracted and was denying they were at fault.

I bought a battery from AAA two and a half years ago. If the unit failed within the first three years I was promised a new replacement. Well, my car was having difficulty starting and I took it my mechanic who tested it and determined the battery had a bad cell and needed to be replaced. I told the mechanic of my warranty and called from the garage. My mechanic and his manager both told me to expect trouble. The said AAA would deny the battery was bad, that it was just "severely undercharged." Sure enough the road technician, a very nice guy, told me exactly that. He put on his tester and after receiving a printout said he could not replace the battery. He had to go by what his equipment said.
I pointed out that a battery that is bad would most likely be "severely undercharged" but it's very nature. I also pointed out that if I have continue trouble starting the car I would be calling AAA again and again requesting service for the same problem. I was informed you only get four calls a year under my membership, but I countered that if it's for the same problem it shouldn't count as additional calls but a non-resolution of the first. At any rate, the road technician tested the battery again and this time he got the report that said it was indeed a bad battery.
I'm not sure, as my mechanic led me to believe, that AAA routinely denies battery replacements due to a company policy, but if it's true I think it's a bad business model. After all, if I hadn't gotten my battery replaced I certainly would not have purchased it from them since I was standing at my usual repair shop. Also, the cost of repeated assistance calls must exceed the cost of a replacement battery, let alone the cost of losing memberships. But my experience is that the technician was willing to retest the battery and I was eventually satisfied.

Then I got silence. I said, "Hello?" She then said, "Yea, what can I do for you?"... Well it went downhill from there. She went on to tell me that I could NOT get my car towed from where I was broke down to my house because that would be considered a "Courtesy tow" not a emergency road side assistance call. HUH!!!! I asked her to explain. She then said I could have the car towed for free to a mechanic to get fixed but not to my house. So I decided to be honest and said, "Listen, I don't have the money to get it fixed right now. I will have to wait until I get paid." She said, "Well it will cost you whatever the going rate would be."
I asked for a manager. She said, "Please hold," and then I was talking to a dial tone. I called back and spoke to another rep who forwarded me to a supervisor... He apologized and placed the order and promised to listen to the tape per my request. 15 minutes later I got a call from the driver who said he was on his way, followed by the second rep I spoke with checking in on me to see how it went, Followed by a call from the supervisor saying he listened to the tape and agreeing with the customer service rep saying that it would be courtesy towing and that I had to pay for it. I called him back but he would not change his mind. So I decided to cancel my membership, which he then transferred me to member services who asked what happened. After explaining, I asked was there a regional director or someone I could speak to. She said, "Hold, let me get my supervisor," who then got on the phone with a rude tone and told me something must be wrong with me if I was going to spend MY time talking to 6 different people thinking I was going to get a different response.
Well by this time I was having a hard time holding my tongue. She then said, "Look, bottom line we can do it to a service center for you or you can leave it," so I said and I quote, "So let me make sure I have this correct. I can have it towed to my buddies' auto garage, but not to my house." She said, and I quote, "You can play those games if you want...." Well I lost it. I don't think that is excessive for a 4-year period. This is an average of 4 times a year. We called AAA for a service that we paid for. We were never denied by the Auto Club's representative when each call was placed requesting their assistance. We even upgraded to being Plus members. And, since our 18-year old daughter now has a car, we purchased a membership for her as well. I don't think she even had a chance to use it yet, and if she has, it's only been once.
In the membership guide, it states that whether you are the driver, passenger, owner, or not, the service requested for the disabled vehicle is covered if the member was present when the disablement occurred. Also, having the cars towed to our residence was told to the AAA phone representative when the call was initially made. We don't have money to have our cars repaired at an auto repair facility. My husband is pretty good at car mechanics so he does most of the repairs at our residence. Now, as to where the vehicle is located at the time of pick up also seems to be an issue. Just because the pick up address is near an auction, car show or a similar location doesn't mean anything. People do go to these functions as a customer and not always a buyer or seller. Am I not allowed to attend these places of business?
How am I to know that I will have car trouble on the day I go to one of these so called incriminating events??? Am I to park down the street so it doesn't look like I bought or sold the vehicle there??? Last I heard, I am free to go anyplace, shop anyplace, and park anyplace without worrying what my member guidelines allows. I pay for membership not to feel like a criminal and feel guilty if I attend an event, or shop at a business. If I need the services that are included in my membership, I should be provided with such without receiving a letter from the company cancelling me, my husband and daughter even before our membership expires!
If there was ever a problem, such as a service not covered by Auto Club, I should have been informed at the time of the request. Isn't that why we speak to a real person when we call that number on the back of the AAA card? Why allow the service be performed, and then look into the last 4 years of how we utilized our benefits to find a non-specific reason to cancel us. And the most humiliating part of all is that they want us to return our cards to them (in the enclosed envelope for our convenience) and being told in writing “Do not attempt to open another membership with Automobile Club of Southern California!!!” When, just 4 to 6 weeks prior, a letter from AAA came in the mail to inform us that I had used my 4 annual tows, and then was thanked for being a Plus Member and how AAA looked forward to serving us for many years to come.
I hope you can understand how confusing and unsettling this whole situation is for us. We only utilized benefits we paid for. As to where we want the car to be towed to shouldn't be an issue. A tow is a tow, which means you're relocating the car, no matter where it is to be picked up and dropped off at. That is my car, my decision, and the guidelines do state, “It will be towed to a destination of your choice within 7 miles in any direction from the point of breakdown." I do want to appeal this decision, of course. I also want to know why, out of the blue, an investigation of our services was done for the past 4 years??? Why weren't we given a chance to meet with someone about the investigation's findings, explained in detail what exactly their letter, service log information and how and who came to the decision to terminate something we've paid for, used, added another member, and feel we deserve more than some investigator’s opinion on why we use a company’s product, rather than commend us for years of loyalty to something we felt was there when we needed it. We now have mixed feelings about loyalty and how gratitude is shown to their company’s members.
I would appreciate any feedback as to how we should correctly approach this matter. I feel we've been deceived by this well known company for simply getting what we paid for. I read the Member Guide over and over again, and can't find anything that fully explains the Club Bylaws regarding terms and conditions. I can't find it on their website either. Also, what was it that made them choose us to investigate??? Clearly, not our 4 calls a year, or the total cost of services rendered. There has got to be other members that use their benefits many more times a year than we do. Were they investigated as well? Was everyone who's a member? I am open to speaking with anyone with some insight on how to get an appropriate outcome for both us as members, and AAA as a provider of services. Thank You!

I called AAA which I have been a member since 2010 for them to pick up my car from my house and drop it off at my mechanic. I asked for a flatbed because every time they try to pick up my car with a regular tow truck, it damages my bumper because it is lowered. The flatbed truck finally arrived two hours later and stated that I would have to give him $20 because the car is okay to go on a regular tow truck. I explained to the driver that my car can’t go on a regular tow truck. I also need this flatbed because the ramp that it is going to is very steep, and I need the car to be taken up from the back so that it can be placed with the car facing the garage when it is placed at the mechanic’s house.
The driver of the tow truck stated that because he thinks that the car can be taken with a regular tow truck, that I must pay the $20. I asked the driver why is it then that the last time my car was towed, it was used by a flat bed with no extra fee. The driver eventually decided to tow the car only to come back to me and state that because my tag is out of date, then it is $75 to tow it. I refused to pay that fee and did not understand why a service is willing to charge for a free service that I have paid for.

On June 10th, 2013, I was making a right turn and I saw this car coming so I pulled as close to the curb as possible so this other car could drive past me. BUT he ended up crashing into my driver side. I turned off my car and took my son out from the back seat as he was my number 1 priority. The other driver re-parked and I took pictures of the accidents - the spot where he hit me, how much space I gave the other driver and somehow he still ended up hitting me. But anyway, we ended up exchanging information and I called my agent, AAA, to tell them my story and I told them I have pictures. I also got a call from the other driver's insurance and I told them I have pictures so I emailed it to them.
They told me that I re-parked my car after the accident, but I told them to look closely at the picture as possible. If I re-parked my car, wouldn't the accident from the tire to my fender and driver side be ALIGNED incorrectly? But the picture clearly shows that it's still aligned straight from the accident. So anyway, his insurance sided with his story and told me since I have no witness or a cop, they sided with his story because now it's my story against his.
My AAA agent, LISA **, didn't even bother to help me with my case. Isn't AAA supposed to be there and help you as much as possible? She basically said the same thing the other insurance driver told me. SHE didn't even ask to SEE the pictures. If you're an attorney, please email me. I need a lawyer. AAA has ruined their reputation because of this. What do I have insurance for if they won't bother to help me?

I was involved in a car accident on May 28 2013. I called AAA for the towing service. It was after 6 pm; the auto body shop was closed so the towing company took my car to their yard and delivered the next morning to the Auto shop which was approx. 15 miles (together distance from the accident scene to the towing overnight then to the Body shop). The towing company charged $480 to my Auto Insurance. I called AAA to try to verify why the fee has to come out of my pocket (which would be paid by my insurance).
AAA answered that if the car was involved with the accident and you DO have the "full" coverage from your auto insurance then, AAA won't pay for the towing, but if you DON'T have the full coverage, AAA will pay for the fee. NO ONE has verified my policy with me and no paper was signed at time of towing. AAA allowed their contracted towing company to claim the towing fee directly to their member's auto insurance without my authorization (not to mention the fee is unreasonably high). The fact is I do not have towing service added to my auto policy, that means I DO NOT have "full" coverage.
AAA membership should cover this expense, so I had to pay off the fee before picking up my car from the shop. When I talked to AAA office, they put me on the phone with the towing company. I had to deal with the towing company. By the end, AAA agent still didn't want to help me to solve the issue. Apparently, AAA does not have any idea what happened. I am very disappointed in AAA's service. AAA's negligence toward my case is very unsatisfactory!! Members, please be aware of your auto policy and always double check with AAA before using or calling for service.

Finally called the corporate office and spoke to a lady - can't remember her name, but she was very nice. She said they are happy that I called because they don't know until someone tells them Then later I received a call from their district supervisor who apologized for the mangers handling of the situation. Then about a month later I received another call from him and he informed me that they now have a new and more experienced manager. I'm Very happy with the outcome. Will definitely consider returning there again.

I and my husband have visited this location 5 times in the past month to get an oil change and an inspection - they keep sending us away!. Each and every single one of these times we were told, not today, come back again another day. Two times for our oil change and 3 times for our inspections. The same thing happened again today after visiting there 2 times before for our vehicle's due inspection. Again, we were told to come back another day!
Our inspection is due no later than tomorrow. My husband had to argue with the manager there (Melvin? - same guy every time), so then he allowed my husband to leave the car there and was told that he couldn't guarantee it would be done today, or even tomorrow, for that matter. So here we are without transportation because of their poor customer services.
Note: There was also an elderly lady there the 2nd time we visited, and she was telling a female employee who was working there that day that she was rude and nasty. The female employee just looked at her and responded with an 'I don't care' attitude and said "Oh Well!" I would never EVER recommend this company again to my friends and family! AAA Roadside service is great, but their car care centers are sorely lacking in business ethics and customer care. They really need to crack down on their employees before they drive all their business elsewhere!

My husband is 74 years old. I’m right behind him in age. My husband is very ill and has cancer. He has a catheter on his chest, right above his heart for dialysis, and two lines on his right arm for his chemo, for drawing blood, etc. We were on our way to MD Anderson Hospital in Houston when we got a flat tire. We thought of going outside and waving someone down, but we were happy to have membership with AAA Roadside Assistance. We called them at 1:50pm and explained the situation. They asked for directions, and they told us that someone should be here in 30 to 45 minutes because there is another call before us. An hour goes by. I called and told me that the person is on another call, and that he should be there in 45 minutes to an hour again.
Two hours go by and nothing. I called again, and they tell me that they are going to get a hold of that person, and that the person will be calling us. The man calls us and asks us where we are. We gave him directions again. He says he is in Victoria and that it will be an hour to an hour and a half before he gets there. I explained that it's very hot and that we can no longer have the AC on; and I also explain about my husband's health. He says that he will try to call someone closer, but he never does. I go outside, but no one stops. By now, it's over 2 and a half hrs. When we got a call from someone from AAA, they explained that there has been some misunderstanding, and that someone will go and help us in an hour or so. By now, I am very angry and start to cry in anger. I told him that it's alright, and that I am going to start walking and see if I can get some help ahead. I hung up and that was the end. I never got any more calls.
I walked about half a mile when a truck stopped and a couple and their adult son asked if I needed help. I had been crying, so they noticed and asked if anything was wrong. I told them what happened with AAA, etc. Afraid and all, I get in their truck. Thank God they were nice people. They took off the flat tire and put on the doughnut spare, but told us that the tire would not make it to Houston. They took us to the closest city behind us and left once we got to a garage. We asked for their names and phone number. We want to get them a gift when we make another trip next month.
That was not the end. The tire was torn on the side and couldn't be fixed. It was Sunday, May 19, 2013. The garage attendant told us not many of those places are open on Sunday's. We called Wal-mart, but they didn't have the tire. We went to a Firestone close by. It was open, but didn't have the tire for our car. They called Corpus, the next larger city, and they had one. We went to Corpus Christi, had the tire installed, and we’re on our way to Houston. By then, it was 7:00pm. We hate to drive at night. I can't see that well at night, and he doesn't drive anymore. We arrived at the hotel at 11:00pm, tired and disappointed at all that happened.
I bought the road side assistance insurance because of our situation. We saw a commercial and thought that was what we needed. The commercial is a lie. I will never recommend this company to anyone. At our age, we need to depend on a company that is reliable and no-nonsense. They prey on people like us and don't deliver. This is a true story! Check the video I took, not one person slowed down to help us. It scares me to think about this happening at night. We have traveled at night and some of these highways are scary. Sorry, had to mention that.

I have a membership with AAA roadside service. I have had it for a few years. This year they started limiting how many times they will assist you. I upgraded my membership for better services and can still only use them 4 times. They advertise "We'll be there to help you anytime you need assistance. If you need a jump start, gas, flat tire or towing or are locked out of your car or house." They are there anytime unless you need them 4 times in a 12-month period. So my husband was hit on the freeway. Our truck rolled 5 times. AAA refused to reimburse us for the towing because we had already used the service 3 times this year. The same rollover accident, our adjuster didn't represent us. We had to fight with our own insurance company and are now having to sue.
The truck was totaled over 3 months ago. We requested to have the truck removed from our policy. The truck is still on the policy and they are still charging us premium for the truck, which was totaled in a rollover accident, which their adjuster proclaimed as a total loss. We have repeatedly requested that the truck be removed from the policy. They keep saying they will remove it and refund our premium retroactively to February 14, the day after the accident. But it never happens.
This month, when we asked yet again to have it removed, they said they would and then promptly set up an auto pay draft for June 6 which includes premium for the truck they have yet to remove from our policy. They set up an auto draft payment that has neither been requested nor authorized by myself or my spouse. Their customer service reps and supervisors are rude and unprofessional. They talk over you, yell at you and don't listen. I canceled my roadside assistance membership today and will be canceling my insurance very shortly. They don't care that they've lost a longtime loyal customer. They are the worst company ever!

I dropped the truck off Wednesday evening, May 8th, and the office manager told me they would call me when it was finished. I did not hear back from the office manager Thursday; therefore, I called Friday morning, May 10th, to inquire if there was a problem. The owner of the shop Pat assured me that the truck would be finished soon and they would call when it was finished.
Friday afternoon, I had still not heard anything about the truck so I called once again. When I inquired as to why it was taking so long to perform the maintenance on the truck, the owner Pat become short and belligerent stating they were too busy and making excuses about employees not showing up for work. The basic maintenance work that needed preformed on my truck should not have taken more than an hour. My truck was in the shop for 1 and 1/2 days. It was in late December when I called AAA because of a flat tire. I waited over 2 hours for a driver to come out. Once the driver came out, he quickly changed my tire. He took the flat tire and threw it in my truck. I heard a snap. I immediately confronted the driver on what I witnessed. I asked him if he broke the board in the back of my trunk. He proceeded to tell me the purpose of the piece. I explained that was not my question. He then told me no. After the New Years, and after I saved enough money to purchase a new spare, my mechanic brought to my attention what I had known that night. The contract driver broke the board in my car. Now, it is the beginning of May, five months after my initial complaint about the part destroyed by the driver.
I recently received a letter marked May 2, 2013, stating that my claim has been closed. After repeated calls and complaint to the company about my frustration regarding this unresolved issue, they closed my case? I am the one, not AAA, who initiated any time for the driver to come out to fix this issue. I conceded that because of my shift work, there is an obvious conflict scheduling a time for this issue to be resolved. Repeatedly, I asked for a set day. The answer I received was of the company repair driver would place a call out to me after 10:00am. Several times, this call never happened; and several times, I had to initiate a call asking about the driver's whereabouts. I took this matter over the claims adjusters head and spoke only once to her boss. I made repeated calls to him and left messages, but I never ever received calls back. Now, here I am, five months later, with an unresolved issue and filled with disgust and frustration due to this company. I called the national number in order to place a complaint with the company, about my local AAA office on May 2, 2013.
May 2, 2013 was the day the driver was supposed to come out to fix the broken board. Instead, I had to call the local office at 12:30 and inquire where he was. The driver finally called me after 2:00pm, while I went out to pick up lunch. I promptly returned his call and, yes, I received no call back. This day I wasn't due to work until 3:00pm. Perhaps, I didn't mention that in March, when I was doing a week long day shift, I was told the driver could fix the part while I was at work. Yes, I was told that the driver would come the following day (a Wednesday) to my job to take care of the matter. The driver never came, nor did he call to reschedule. Now, it's May and I have received a letter about my case being closed. Please advise.

I was an AAA roadside service member and insurance holder (home and car) for ~15 years. I rarely had to use either service prior to this past year. There were 2 recent occasions where I was in need of the roadside assistance. Instead of a simple, straightforward experience (which I expected and paid for), I was greeted with rude customer service agents, back and forth phone conversations for 1-2 hours and, in the end, no service! Long story short, I was leaving the gym when my car would not start. Unfortunately, I didn't have my wallet containing my AAA card. For a reason still unknown to me, the woman at AAA could not find my information in the system and refused to send a tow truck. I begged her saying that I was 100% positive I had a current card (which I later found in my wallet). I let the AAA agent know that I had just received paperwork in the mail from AAA to the address I was providing her.
I was baffled as to why she could not locate me. Again, I begged for her to send someone out saying that I would guarantee payment via credit card if I didn't have an up-to-date card. She refused stating that policy would not allow her to send out a tow truck unless they found my information in their system. Well 2 hours later, I ended up getting my own tow truck. As soon as I got home, I checked my wallet and found my current AAA roadside assistance card. Unbelievable! From this point forward, I will never pay another dollar to AAA for roadside insurance or any other purpose. I would urge others to do the same. I have a membership with AAA. In general, I have had positive experiences, though this time was different. I was hiking over on a desert mountain and got back on my car, which was half a mile off the state route 160. I got stuck on the dirt road as I was trying to turn around to drive out. After doing all I could to get out, I decided to walk to the main highway nearby. I called AAA explaining the situation and that I need a 4x4 vehicle with a winch to pull me out of the soft dirt. They told me a truck was on its way and the driver would be phoning back. It was getting close to nightfall as I was waiting for a call back. Eventually, I got hold of the driver and talked to him about the situation.
He said, to my dismay, that his truck couldn't get me because I was on a dirt road (despite me explaining that to the call center operator) and that he would let them know, and someone should get back to me. Well I never got a call back and it was getting cold in the windy night air. I was getting a bad feeling about this. I called back AAA and there had not been any arrangement made by them to get someone else. After about 20 minutes waiting on hold while they tried to solve the problem, the operator told me that what the driver told me was wrong and they had nothing that could help me. She also suggested sending a bill to AAA, but the tow service wants money now. So now after hiking earlier that day, my friend and I had to hike 8 miles along a darkened highway to a gas station. Both exhausted by the time we got there around 11:30PM.
The station attendant was very nice to us. We found a stranger with a 4x4, who offered for all the money in my wallet to try and get us out. He happened to have a winch in which he was able to pretty easily pull us out. Thankfully we did not get struck on the highway shoulder on the way walking there to the gas station. What is disappointing is that AAA did not have a contracted 4x4 service truck in a big metropolitan area (which was not far away).
Do not get trapped on a dirt road if you are one of the many people that like to hike in the wilderness. What if the cell phone doesn't work? The person who pulled us out told me that about two years ago, he found a 60-year-old man who had died at his vehicle in summer on a dirt road within sight of a highway because he had a medical condition. Don't get trapped without backup communication. This situation of ours could have potentially been a lot worse. Thankfully, a stranger came to task when AAA couldn't.

On Sunday morning, my son stopped for coffee, and when he came out, the car would not start. He decided to check some connections under the hood and then tried to start the car, and it started right up. For background, this vehicle has never once failed to start, ever since it was driven off the dealer's lot. It has sat for 2 or 3 weeks at a time, and always cranks right up. Since I frequently drive the car, my son took it back to the shop this morning (7:30 a.m.) and told the center about the first ever time the car would not start. They have now diagnosed insufficient pressure to the fuel pump, and are in the process of replacing the fuel pump at a cost of 500-600 dollars. The manager, Jonathon **, insists it was a coincidence. This is not a coincidence.
I have told him that I do not believe it to be a coincidence. Car owners, beware. Do not take your Honda to this car care center. Secondly, they towed my car and did not take down my AAA membership information which I had handed to them. So now, they are trying to charge me the tow, of which the only reason I even used them to tow was so that AAA would pay for it. Now as I was trying to fill out my AAA reimbursement form, Rick and Rich Towing, refused to give me any information needed so that I could get reimbursed the money that they want me to pay.

I would never suggest using them, or giving them any business! They are also trying to charge me $1400 if I take it off the lot without them fixing it for storage, but if they fix it and get the money, then they aren't charging storage fee. If someone is going to charge you for storage fee, I believe they have to tell you up front, and not once it has been there waiting on insurance claims and what not. I have used AAA more times than I would have liked but every time I use your service, it has been great from the customer service to the tow truck driver. But I just recently used your service on Friday, March 8, 2013. I had the driver meet me at the mall. My brakes were locked up so I parked it at the mall and waited for your driver. He showed up faster than I expected which was great, but your AAA driver loaded my car on his truck and left to drop my car off at my house. I left 15 minutes later. I got home but there was no tow truck around. I waited for close to an hour. I was getting ready to contact AAA to find out where my car is but your driver showed up. FYI, it's a 15-minute travel. He was gone an hour.
So he dropped off my car in the driveway like I asked. I pulled it in my garage and fixed my brakes. Well yesterday, Thursday, March 14, 2013 was the first time I drove my car since it was towed. I opened up my truck to clean it out and discovered a surprise. Your AAA driver was gone for an hour because he pulled off and went through my car. I had an open bag of Craftsman toolbox that was just purchased a month ago at Home Depot full of tools and water lines and electric cords for dryers and ovens that I use for work and they're gone, bag and all. I had a new set of jumper cables and it's also gone. I had a new car jack that OMG is also gone and a cheap folding chair that is gone. I have a first aid box that had a zip tie to keep it locked. The zip tie was cut and the box was dumped upside in my truck.
I'm very pissed off about this. I would like to either see my belongings that your AAA driver took from me or the cash value of the items missing. The most important items are the tool bag that was full of good and expensive tools and my car jack. I am pissed about the other items, whatever. But if this does not get resolved, I will contact law enforcement and all local media including Channel 2 news. I will make sure everyone knows AAA is a thief and that they can't trust your drivers to pick up their vehicle and take it straight to their houses without stealing items out of their car.

I drove my jeep off my driveway to the street and slid into a snow bank sideways. Unable to dig myself out by snow, I shoveled & plowed, etc. I finally broke down to contact a local tow company I have used in the past, which informed me if I have AAA, they would call it in with AAA. I called AAA to find my membership expired and needed to renew so I did so by paying the $90.00 by phone to renew and called in the service for tow. 4 hours of **. They sent a local guy with a pickup truck who informed me he had no winch. But I called in a winch tow service with AAA. This was where it all began. I told the man I was very disappointed that he arrived without the proper equipment and vehicle and his response was he was going to contact AAA to inform them that he wasn’t touching my Jeep and that he wanted to let me know he was refusing to help. I advised him I was going to contact AAA to have another company come out that had the right service provided.
I realized later after my complaint to AAA about sending me someone not having the right equipment was not in my favor as I was told that they called 10 tow companies and nobody was available to come help me due to my situation that nobody wanted to put their drivers in any unsafe situation? I was shocked! What unsafe situation? Where did they get that information? As this was a side road to my friend’s driveway, nothing was unsafe about it.
The first driver that came out and I had conflict with told AAA this? Unbelievable! I told AAA that I didn’t feel that they wanted to service me as they told me that they could send someone to me as a cash tow. What cash tow? Are you kidding me? Why? I told AAA that I spoke with the same tow companies they stated that were refusing to service me as I had called them prior to my renewal and they were fine with coming out to help me. And why are they all of a sudden not able to? I just got off the phone with the driver telling me he was working on getting someone to me. And as soon as I hung up with the driver, the phone rang again and it was AAA telling me no one would be coming to assist me. I told them I just got off the phone with the driver and he said he was coming. The driver told me that AAA did not want to pay for the service. So I told AAA this and they dodged the question stating again the safety of a driver and tow trucks.
After 4 hours of waiting for service, I was being told cash tow or nobody. But now that I confronted AAA with their refusal to pay the tow company was the reason, as the tow company told me this and I was calling them back to confirm nobody was showing. So I hung up to call the tow company back with no answer. I tried calling back the phone number on my caller ID from the driver and got VM. A few minutes passed by and AAA called me back and said they spoke to the owner and nobody was coming and now not even for a cash tow. This is what I call out a conspiracy of scam. I told AAA to cancel my renewal from today as they couldn’t help me and I own a Jeep, which means if I ever get stuck, there will always be a reason why they can't help me. I was stuck and a girl btw. AAA told me, “Sorry, Customer Service is closed for the day to cancel membership but I can put a request in.” (Of course AAA is closed now.)
This whole ordeal wasted my entire day. This is a bunch of crap. AAA, I won’t be back ever again. Northern New England, AAA is a scam. They will send out a mom and pop shop and of they are not equipped to help you out of your **. I want to make sure I make it clear that there was nothing unsafe about winching out my jeep that was stuck that left my wheels spinning on ice. How did AAA come to that assumption? Nobody else came to help me so they just took a pissed off driver’s word? Unfair business practices! I plan to take pictures of my vehicle tomorrow of location etc. and post tomorrow night. I now am on my own to figure out how to get my jeep out. :(

After being a loyal customer for 21 years, I just canceled my membership. I called for a tow; I was upfront with the agent and said that it is non-op and not a emergency. He said that as long as I was taking it to be repaired. I said, "Of course, I was." The repair shop was a home though occupied by my son who was going to work on the car. After I drove to where the car was, I was notified by AAA that they would not tow it after all and the agent made a mistake. I am very upset that they wouldn't even tow it. They said that it's not a roadside emergency. Wow! After 21 years, to get treated like crap from these people is not acceptable. I hope everybody finds out that they are dirty liars.

I was thinking of getting AAA for the first time, but with the experience my parents have had with the Travel Disruption Reimbursement, I have definitely decided against AAA. Broke down in North Iowa on I35 at night. No one had a truck available to tow a van, plus 4 extra people, on to Minneapolis where my dad was scheduled to be at the hospital the next morning for his open heart surgery. Finally found a tow company that would at least tow our van back to Mason City and then drive us to Minneapolis 120 miles away. We were already 215 miles from home, so this seemed to be our best option. We had to rent a car the next day to use to get around Minneapolis. Oh did I mention my mom is also handicapped?
Unfortunately AAA considered us to have reached our destination, even though we no longer had a vehicle to help get us back and forth to the hospital with my handicapped mother. So they do not reimburse you for a rental car at all since they consider you to have reached your destination. Doesn't even bother me that they don't pay us for food or lodging, but come on, a rental car reimbursement for 3 days would have been a really big help. I guess they figure if you've reached a city but have no way to transport you around, you are OK. Parents are 80 years. I can't imagine what my mom would have done had I and my sister not have been with them. No thank you AAA!

I have a $150 AAA battery approximately 13 months old. It kept dying, so I brought it to my mechanic for a full charge. After trying to charge it for a full day, he examined my alternator and electrical system; both of which were great. He said I had a dead cell in the battery. I called AAA and explained the situation. They came, did their diagnostic on my battery and concluded the same thing, dead cell/bad battery. He did the same test several times and said they would install a new battery. After talking to his boss on the phone, the test now said suspect, which means possible draw. My mechanic, whose shop the car was at, emphasized again that everything was fine except the AAA battery.
I told AAA that every review I have read of their battery warranty came up with close to the same results, no new battery! He said he was embarrassed and felt bad but he would get in trouble honoring the warranty. AAA customer service called me and basically said have a nice day. He left while my mechanic jumped me and I went to Sam's Club for a new battery. They tested it, came up with no draw and bad cell! I bought one of theirs for $89 and peace of mind. Run, do not walk, if AAA tries to sell you one of their pieces of junk! In the first 30 minutes after this episode, I had told about 30 people my story.

I had AAA Roadside Assistance until last year. While I had it, they sold me 3 defective batteries. The last battery did not last a year and they replaced it and prorated me. Yesterday, my car wouldn't start and I called them and they sent RA and the young man tested and said the battery was fine and that it was an electrical problem. So I had my present Roadside Assistance (Liberty Mutual) tow my car to dealership. They called this morning to inform me that it was the battery and it was dead.
So I called AAA and after being put on hold several times, the woman stated that they would not replace the battery because I did not drive the car 10K in a year. No one ever told me this when they sold me the battery and she tried to claim it is on my receipt and it is not. So AAA cost me a tow (because of their negligence) and a new battery and labor charges to put it in. I am so disgusted and have been through 2 days of needless aggravation. I have 3 receipts for the 3 defective batteries. I take very good care of my vehicle and this is just not fair. I want them to pay for the battery because it was under warranty and their agent was not inept enough to know the battery was dead. I also have receipts for the new battery that I had to buy and labor to put it in. The woman on the phone (AAA) hung up on me when I asked for her supervisor.

My car wouldn't start. I called AAA for service. They checked the battery - it was okay. They towed my vehicle (Honda CRV) to a nearby AAA service center. I was told it would cost me $421.37 to replace the starter - $225.14 parts, $183.50 labor, $12.73 tax! They reduced it by 10% because I told them the bill was outrageous. I told them that a new starter at Auto Zone was $130-$140 after core credit. This was an AAA-approved service location. It's a total rip off. It should not be recommended by AAA or anyone else. I put the first call in at 4:27 pm on Mon, Jan. 21. Three different trucks showed up 1 hour and more apart. None of the drivers had the necessary equipment to safely transport my Ducati sports bike. I had no choice, and no one helped, but to start pushing my motorcycle home with full gear and backpack after being at work since 5am. I was tired, hungry, deserted and cold. I pushed for 7 miles with those conditions and did not get home until 1am. I had to be back at work at 5am the next day. I expect a phone call from a senior representative to set up a court date.

I've been a member of AAA for 20 years and I've hardly ever had to use your service. Thank God since it sucks so bad!
Your response was to immediately send a tow truck to pick me and my car up at my house. Luckily, I did not go to the mechanic shop or let them tow my car because when I called to double check if they actually had the tires available, the shop did not have the tires and couldn't even do the work till tomorrow! Thanks a lot AAA. You "Accidentally Almost Abandoned" this pregger girl at a mechanic shop in the freezing cold. For future reference, you should let your customers know that you are not responsible for finding out if the place where you abandon them can actually be helpful to their needs! A heads-up would have been nice and I would have called the mechanic shops myself ahead of time. But honestly, isn't that your job?

Two months ago, I joined AAA and then needed a jump-start for my car so I called them. The mechanic who showed up must have been drunk, on drugs or just stupid. He proceeded to hook up the battery pack with the wrong terminals and then when the car would not start, he decided to open my locked doors by prying a door open enough to insert an air bag to open the door with. He put a crease in my Mercedes Benz's roof where he pried the door. When he realized he had the battery pack on backwards, he tried switching the connections but by then the pack had discharged and in the process messed up some of the vehicle's electronics because of the initial wrong connections.
To add the ultimate insult to injury, he said that I needed to put a battery charger on my car (which I borrowed from a neighbor) to get it running again. So in effect, he did nothing except damage my car. I contacted AAA Consumer Complaint Department and the representative told me to send her estimates for the roof dent and a copy of the bill for electrical repairs. After doing so, she informed me that all of their contractors are "independent" so AAA has no liability. This is a bunch of Cow ** as far as I am concerned, because I contacted AAA and not some "independent" for assistance. So it will cost me $447 to get my car repaired for having AAA "service" when all they did was damage my vehicle without ever starting it or furnishing any sort of service.

I had already waited long enough and didn't want to wait another 30 minutes for a tow truck (which I asked for initially) so I purchased a battery with a 3-year warranty. Two years later, my battery is not up to par and I will need to get a replacement. I called AAA and asked if I could get a better battery for my replacement. Then he tells me it will be cheaper if I just buy another battery at full retail and start the warranty over. Then AAA tells me I have to pay the service call fee because I'm no longer a member. To top it all off, the original service provider put the wrong battery in my car. Bottom line, this is exactly why I do not keep my AAA membership active. She said that 2 different people had stopped and then told her they would call assistance for her when they got to a phone. I waited with her for a while, then decided to drive back about 2 miles to the nearest motel (Cedar Lodge in El Portal) to call her insurance, AAA. After over 40 minutes trying to get help on the phone with AAA representatives, I was getting worried about Debra being out on the road alone and gave up with AAA. I went back and told her that I did not know if help was coming. Not knowing what else to do, I offered her my home for safety until she could get help in the morning.

In March of this year, my vehicle needed to be towed. AAA is responsible for providing this service, and the premier I would think would be an added bonus. They left me stranded with my car and sent a driver out who did a vulgar gesture to me and a friend who witnessed this, and left for no apparent reason other than they did not want to tow it to the repair shop I had chosen. I called back; they said they would get someone out right away. I waited for about another hour and another tow truck came and towed my car.
The next day, I spoke to someone in the main headquarters. At least, this was what they told me. I told them what happened and told them I would not pay to renew my membership with them. I was told that next year's membership would be taken care of and they did not want to lose me as a customer since I was with them for so many years. I agreed that if they were to cover my next year's membership dues, that I would give them another chance ...
Well, now it's time and nobody cares at all. I have called so many times that I have lost count. I decided today to contact you, after an extremely rude person told me that there were notes in their system that there were no tags on my vehicle when this happened (which by the way is a complete lie). And then, she told me she was not going to help me(!), that a supervisor would call me. I had kept very calm and very patient until this point. And now I have been called, in not so many words a liar. I have been lied to.
I was left stranded by a company whose main job is to help stranded people with their vehicles as well as told that they would renew my membership for my family with no intentions to do it. I asked for a call from the manager of the Florida team and, again, no one by this title has called. I received one call and every time I call this person back, their voice mail is full and I cannot reach anyone at their office. Do with this what you want. I have never been this angry and been treated so poorly before in my life. I hope AAA is happy with what they have done.

This evening, my wife called our AAA roadside emergency number to have a battery that we purchased from them in 2010 replaced. I was on my way home and I figured that I would be home before the tow truck arrived. I am so glad that I was home because the driver was very rude and condescending. The impression that I got from this individual was that he did not want to be at work. He attempted to talk us out of having the battery replaced. He kept asking who told us that the battery was no good. The driver begrudgingly exited his truck and began barking orders at us. The driver told us that he had to run tests on the battery before the battery could be replaced.
After 20 minutes of testing the battery, he told us that it had to be the alternator or the starter that was preventing the battery from working. I felt that this was odd because my wife had just picked up the vehicle from our repairman, Accu Tech Unlimited, and he checked both the starter and the alternator as a part of the service we had just received. Our repairman at Accu Tech Unlimited would not have allowed my wife to have driven the vehicle home knowing that there was a problem with either the starter or alternator. When the driver told me that the battery could not be replaced, I said to him, "Let me be sure that I understand what you are saying. The warranty on the battery can't be honored because the alternator or the starter is not working?"
I then asked him which one was it, the starter or the alternator, and he said, "Well umm, the starter?" I then said, "So you are telling me that because my starter is going out, that keeps the battery from not charging and not starting?" He then began to stutter and say, "Well umm, let me call in and see." He never said who he was calling and who he was going to see. He did call someone and was on hold for 45 minutes. The drivers name was ** and the name of the company was Natomas Towing & Transport, 271 Opportunity Street Suite H Sacramento, CA 95838, 916-925-3366. Terrible service.

It took the truck almost 2 1/2 hours to arrive. AAA advised him that he needed to call 911 if he got too cold while waiting for the tow truck (?), which he had to do. A sheriff came and he sat in his car while they waited for the tow truck driver to arrive. Then the driver was going to tow him back to Miles City. He called AAA and said, "WTH? They then gave the driver directions to the AAA repair shop in Glendive, which turned out to be a body shop and not a mechanic. The driver started talking garbage about Pet Boys Auto the moment I told him where to tow vehicle to and told me he could have the vehicle to a friend of his that was only a few blocks away. He told me they could have the vehicle ck and I could get my car that same day and that the garage was an AAA certified.
I waited all afternoon and never got a call. The next morning, I call the garage and found out there was no such friend, but the garage was his employee and they couldn't check the vehicle on this day, because they had too many vehicles waiting. After telling the person the story from the driver, I was transferred to the owner. He apologized for what the driver had done and he told me he will have the vehicle checked right away and will call me back. I got a call back and was told they needed to replace the starter. The quote was $260.00 and I will have the vehicle back that afternoon. So, I agreed and was returned the vehicle that afternoon.
On 11-13-12, the vehicle started making a loud noise and I took the vehicle to the dealer Massey Yardley Chrysler located at 777 N St Rd 7 in Plantation. They couldn't find the problem and didn't look at the starter, because I told them it has been just replaced. On 11-03-12, after having the vehicle for 8 days and having to rent a vehicle, they checked the starter and found out it was an old bad starter. They replaced the starter and I had to pay $743.46. I did get my vehicle back on 11-19-12. I returned to American Fleet Automotive on 11-21-12 and explained the situation and requested a refund. They said the starter they installed had a 12,000 mile guaranteed and they will first have to keep it to have it checked. I was told come back on Monday, 11-26-12, to give them time because of the Thanksgiving holiday. It was obvious the starter was an old starter.
I came back on Tuesday, 11-27, and was told they didn't have the starter back. This continues for over a week and a half. I didn't get back the starter till 12-07-12 and was told the starter was good. It was obvious by looking at the starter it had been fixed. I was told they will give me $160.00 in service in exchange. American Fleet Automotive wasted my time and I had to pay for the dealer to fix their mistake and installed a damaged starter. I was told to leave the premises. There is air compressor instead of a spare, which I had no idea what it was used for. That is why I called AAA. Today, I called AAA to see if I was charged for a service call and why. The supervisor said that they cannot touch the equipment (compressor) because of liability. Why? They have to touch the donut to put it on the car. No compressor on the service truck? AAA's solution is next time I have a service call, to make sure that the service truck has an air compressor on it. That is why I called AAA - I don't know what is wrong with the tire. Not happy with the service.

I have a premier roadside service membership. After 13 phone calls to AAA road service; 3 tow trucks arriving late; 1 unfriendly tow truck driver; and a couple of unprofessional persons on the phone, it did not get me anywhere so I called back to cancel the road service. I ended up calling another tow company and pay out of pocket. They were friendly, professional and on time. AAA premier roadside service is the worst nightmare I have ever gotten.

Last weekend, I went to look at my wife's car which was having problems stalling at intersections and not restarting. I immediately suspected the battery which was an AAA battery still under the free replacement portion of its warranty. So I called for a battery service, a tech came out and tested the battery, the starter and the alternator. He said that the battery was just dead and needed to be recharged, and that the alternator was overcharging and needed to be replaced. And that I should charge the battery on trickle charge overnight while it was disconnected from the car and call once I had done that. He charged me $30 for the service call and left.
I knew better but took him at his word and replaced the alternator and put the battery on a trickle charge overnight. I checked it in the morning and the lights in the car barely came on for a few seconds. The two most common reasons an alternator will overcharge is because of a bad ground or a very bad battery. I checked my ground and everything looked good. I had my wife call expecting that they would be honorable, but they told her that the battery was fine and that it just needed a charge. When she told them that we had it on a charger and it did not charge, the man said that there must be something wrong with my charger because the battery test fine.
After I left work on Saturday, I took the car down to the local AAA office and called for a service call while at the office. One guy in a truck came by and said he would not help me. I was stranded and needed a jump just to get back home. Finally, a second guy showed up and said that he would help. He jumped me off, tested my battery and again refused to replace it and said that my alternator was overcharging and that was my problem. I told him it was a new alternator. He responded that unless his tester says it is a bad battery, he cannot replace it. He also said that they can only charge the battery at that location only during certain hours of the day.
I finally got very frustrated and went and bought a battery from Advanced Auto as I know they honor their battery warranties from previous experience. Once I replaced the battery, the alternator tested fine and was not overcharging any longer. This just proves it was a bad battery and that AAA had no interest in getting the car back on the road or honorable servicing a client’s needs. I have done several internet searches and come to realize that this is a common problem when dealing with the AAA battery warranty. I wonder if there is a class action lawsuit.

At about 8:45PM on Wednesday evening (the night before Thanksgiving), my husband and I were in downtown Pittsburgh to pick up our nephew; who was coming to town on the Megabus from NYC. We were on Penn Ave between 10th and 11th Ave, waiting on the side of the road listening to an audio book. When it was time to move ahead, I discovered that the car battery had died. We happened to have jumper cables and a good Samaritan nearby let us try to make the electrical connection. Unfortunately, nothing happened on the first 5 or 6 tries. When it was clear that the battery was not responding, we called AAA. The dispatcher was less than helpful and the experience was actually pretty scary.
First, she was unable to discern where exactly I was located (I was calling on a cell phone. Do you not have the ability to track GPS?). She commented that downtown Pittsburgh was a pretty big place and did I know if I was near streets or avenues. I explained I had just come over the 16th street bridge and turned right onto Penn Ave. I identified the fact that the Convention Center was nearby and a hotel (Weston, perhaps? I cannot remember). She wanted to know if there was a bank nearby. Should I have been alone, it did not feel like a safe place to wander around looking for landmarks to make the dispatcher happy.
I explained that the car was a green Toyota Highlander, with all wheel drive. Plus there was a Thule box on top and an Adirondack chair strapped to the top. She said that because the car was an all-wheel drive, a flat bed truck would be needed (with the typical first come, first served 45-minute wait); but that there would be no place to take the car until Friday since it was the night before Thanksgiving. So she asked, "Where exactly would you like to have the car towed?" Great, how the hell did I know? Luckily, my daughter lives nearby but really, what sort of a question is that to someone who is a stranger in the town? Then she mentioned that the chair would have to be removed from the top of the car and left by the side of the road.
"How many people?" she asked. "Three," I said. "Well that would be another problem since only two could ride with the tow truck driver." "Great," I thought, "leave one of us in the chair." So as it was feeling like the end of the world and pretty dismal and not much to be thankful for, I tried the battery one more time and thankfully it started. The bus arrived, we picked up our nephew and we're on our way for a family gathering in West Virginia. We were terribly disappointed with the AAA Pittsburgh dispatcher who offered little helpful advice, except for a huge sigh of relief when the battery finally turned over. We were shocked that there did not seem to be at least one auto service center in the city that would respond to emergency situations during holiday periods.

On Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at approximately 10:30pm, my wife, Lisa, and I received a call from our daughter that her vehicle went down into a slopped embankment approximately 2 miles from our home/business after a 17-hour school day/rehearsals for her HS musical. She admitted she was exhausted and felt she closed her eyes briefly, but awoke and managed to guide the car down the slope and through the grassy bush rather than hit any trees. She walked away without any injuries. When we arrived at the scene, a family was waiting with her for our arrival. Immediately, we called the Dodge County Police to report the incident and asked for advice. The dispatcher asked us to wait for the deputy to arrive.
Dodge Co. Sheriff’s deputy arrived at on the scene and we inspected the vehicle. I started the vehicle, put it into gear and the tires spun, but it remained stuck. The officer determined that the incident caused no harm and it looked like only body repairs to the left fender, front grill, and hood. After speaking with our daughter and since no other vehicles or other property damage occurred, he decided it did not warrant a citation and said we could get our vehicle out the next day. Therefore, on Thursday, November 1, 2012, I called AAA to arrange for a tow. The vehicle was approximately 70 feet off the road and could easily be pulled out with no obstructions. It just needed to be pulled out onto the side of the road and then driven to our home. AAA arranged for Reliable Truck & Auto (located at 525 Pine St. Hartford, WI 53027, phone: (262) 673-0477, fax: 262-670-0845) to service the call and I met the tow truck driver at the car around 9:15 am.
The driver of the tow truck, Steve **, got out of his vehicle and looked from the roadway and stated that this was not an AAA tow because it was too far off the road for AAA coverage, saying it was 200 feet off the road. I disagreed with him. Then he admitted though that he would not have to do anything special to pull the vehicle out. I then told him not to worry about it and I would get the vehicle out myself. I left to head back to my shop (2 miles away) to get the equipment in order to remove the car. He then called me and said he was responsible for the vehicle by state law and that he called the police to make a report and police were sending an officer to the car because he determined that it was a reportable accident. At this time, I informed him that the police were called the night before and that the Dodge County deputy had already determine that there was not enough damage to file the report or give our daughter a citation. (Apparently, before calling me or knowing that the incident was already reported, he had called another deputy).
He then kept saying the insurance would cover the tow. The insurance company will cover it. He kept on emphasizing that he was under obligation to the state to make this determination. I kept stating that it was the Deputy at the scene, at the time of the incident that had already made the determination that it did not. The car, a 2001 PT Cruiser with 148,000 miles, did not warrant making a claim for basically cosmetic repairs through the insurance company. I went back to the car, spoke with Steve, and told him I thought he was going to charge me $250 to tow the vehicle out of pocket, instead of using AAA. He assured me that he wasn't like that and I would be treated fairly. I called AAA and also stated that the car was not 250 feet from the road but 70 feet. They stated I could file a reimbursement claim at a later date if I felt that the coverage denial was inaccurate. I told Steve I wanted the vehicle towed to my shop which was 2 miles away. Then he said he couldn't because he determined the vehicle was totaled and by law, he had the right to take it to his shop in Hartford. I disagreed but wasn't sure what the law was so I didn't argue any further. He said I didn't have to be there when the police would arrive, so I went back to my office.
Approximately 10:45 am, Dodge Co. Deputy SGT S. **, called and arrived at my residence (office) and handed me an accident report before he ever came to speak with us or my daughter. I asked him why and he said the damage was over $1,000 so he had to write it up. He also gave me a traffic ticket for my daughter for inattentive driving (R855073). I asked him why he was issuing a ticket today after the officer who met us at the time of the incident determined that she managed to control her vehicle and caused no other property damage except cosmetic repairs to our car. He said he had been doing this 37 years and he knew best. I called AAA at 7:09am on Friday, November 2, 2012, to arrange delivery of the vehicle from Reliable Truck & Auto to Ron’s Bump Shop in Slinger and wanted to know what I needed to do. They informed me I needed to pay for the towing charges at Reliable before it would be released. I also re-informed them that I had thought the tow would have been covered by AAA as it was less than 70 feet off the road with no obstructions and they said the tow truck driver informed them that it was 250 feet off the road. I told them he was lying and they decided to believe him.
When I went to arrange for the vehicle to be towed to the auto body shop in Slinger and asked him what he charged for the towing. He stated he did not make up the bill because he was driving but said it was two hours towing at $125/hour + a $85 hookup fee. I stated that I wanted the vehicle released so it could be towed to Ron’s Bump Shop in Slinger for an estimate. Steve then told me he had to make reimbursement to the property owner for the damage done to the property as he was responsible for making restitution. I asked what damage and he said the knocked down trees and grass. I asked how long that would take and he said 3-4 hours at $125/hour. Looking at the area the vehicle went into did not warrant much repair. It was hunting land that was long grass and scrub brush. A couple of the scrub brushes were bent over along with the long grass where the tire tracks were. I told him I would take care of the damage and he then replied that he needed to contact the property owner. I again asked him how long that would take and he said 1.5 hours at $125/hour.
I again replied that I would contact the homeowner and make restitution (which I did and we worked it out). The property owner laughed about restitution as the only damage was bent over grass. Steve then said he needed the homeowner to contact him to release the vehicle, which they did. I then told him I wanted the truck moved that morning to AAA and I would be calling it in. He said he needed to see the title that no liens were on the vehicle, a driver’s license, AAA card and the bill paid before he could release the vehicle, to which I agreed. I called AAA at around 10:30am to report the difficulty I was having in getting the vehicle released. They said that to get the vehicle covered, I needed to have the tags (license plates) with the vehicle, as the tow truck driver said there were no plates. I informed them that I had the plates as the tow truck driver told me to take them from the car before he left, but that they would be with the vehicle by the time Reliable towed it to Ron’s Bump Shop.
Upon arriving at 11:15am, I gave Reliable Truck a copy of the title, my driver's license, my AAA card, the vehicle plates and offered to pay for the tow on the spot. Steve from Reliable kept on saying he didn't have the bill ready. I asked him when and he kept avoiding the subject. I pressed him to give me a time when he was going to get the vehicle and the bill ready. He stated that he would get the vehicle to Ron’s by the end of the day and give the bill to Ron. He was not specific as to an exact time and I told him AAA would not cover the tow without my being present. He kept on asking me why I was doing this as it was obvious he was upset that insurance wasn't paying for it and delayed doing anything until noon. Meanwhile, he had two employees sitting around doing nothing for at least 45 minutes. I observed one employee behind the desk area playing video games on the computer and another driver sitting around the lounge area staring off into space.
At 11:44, I called AAA to inform them that Reliable was taking the vehicle over to Ron’s Bump Shop. They reiterated that I needed to be with the vehicle for hookup and that the driver would determine if I needed to be with the vehicle or not. I informed them that Steve from Reliable said he would take the vehicle over by the end of the day and that Ron’s Bump Shop was going to pay him. They did not take my word on that and called Steve from Reliable. They put me on hold and 5 minutes later, the woman who had talked to Steve was so frustrated with him that she did not want to talk to him again but he confirmed that he was going to release the vehicle and that I did not need to be there.
I then decided to wait for Reliable to tow the vehicle as I still was not sure if I would be covered. At or around noon, one of Steve's employees left. Three minutes later, Steve and the guy from the lounge left. I waited for 10 minutes then called AAA again to ensure that they were going to cover the tow. I reached a customer service rep and they again said I needed to be with the vehicle for coverage to begin. I told my story again what the tow company was going to do and then said they would cover it. Still, I decided to wait for Reliable to tow the vehicle until at 1:06pm. I called AAA and asked what type of timeframe is allowed for a tow company to respond to a service call. The AAA service rep said 45 minutes. I had originally called AAA at 10:30am to have the car towed from Reliable to Ron’s and Reliable Truck & Auto still had not responded to the call at 1:06pm. That's over 2 hours later.
The tow company was informed of my request. I had brought all the necessary paperwork and items in for AAA coverage of the vehicle. I had offered to pay for the service call on the spot and was willing to wait at the vehicles location by the tow company until they were ready to tow the vehicle in a reasonable time. It was 50 degrees out, sunny, virtually no wind and two of the company's trucks sat there for over 1 hour and 45 minutes while I was there, along with his two employees. The AAA service rep offered to call Reliable Truck & Auto to find out when they were going to take the vehicle over to Ron’s. I said okay but then asked him what the bill was for the towing. She put me on hold for five or so minutes and upon return told me she had talked to Steve and he said it would be towed there by the end of the day. When I asked her for a cost of towing, Steve had said he couldn't give it to me as he didn't have it ready yet. She then said it was okay for me to leave and not be physically present when the vehicle was towed.
After waiting for them until 1:20pm, I went to Ron’s Bump Shop to speak with Ron. I had previously spoken with him about the possibility of the car being towed to his place and an estimate from him for the damage to the car. Upon arrival, I authorized him to give Reliable his cost for the hourly tow and hookup charge that he quoted me earlier in the day and would seek reimbursement from AAA at a later date. He informed me that the charges were over $634. I was flabbergasted at the price. He couldn't believe it either. I informed Ron that if Reliable's original charge for towing was accepted by them, to tell the driver to take the car back. I then left to get back to work as I had taken a lot of time off of work to deal with this issue. Later in the day, I called Ron’s to see what had happened. Ron informed me that the car was there but paid Reliable Truck the $634.00 because Steve from Reliable threatened to charge double if he didn't drop it off. Ron gave Steve the check so there wouldn't be any additional problems with the car and didn't want to have to pay double.
Later in the day, I called Silver Lake Towing from Oconomowoc about their typical fees for a tow out of pocket. They are located approximately the same distance away from the scene as Reliable Towing (approximately 11 miles). They charge $3.50/mile for the tow and a $55 hookup charge. Assuming that the round trip may come out to 30 total miles, the charge would be 30x$3.50 = $105 + $55 hookup charge = $160 + tax. A far cry from $634. It appears to me that Steve from Reliable Truck & Auto was trying to run a scam on the insurance company and then got mad about me calling him on it and charged me exorbitant fees. Why this person and company are endorsed by AAA is beyond me. He is an outright crook and should not be allowed to have a license to run a tow truck company let alone an AAA company. He should be fully investigated for his downright lies and deceitfulness. This company brings great discredit to the AAA name and service. He refused to release the vehicle again saying he had the right to keep it.

I have been an AAA member since 1984. On and off I have been a plus member and for the most part I have an excellent service across-the-board, but today was by far the exception, and one I just cannot stop thinking about. First of all, I must say the driver who was dispatched was equally as efficient with excellent customer service skills as I could possibly expect or, even hoped for. He assessed the situation and determined what the problem was. And even though he already got the car started with a jumpstart with it because it was a high-traffic road, he was going to tow us to the garage anyway. Excellent. I thought I was in store for another one of AAA's excellent customer service handling the situation. Boy was I wrong!
The dispatcher who sent the truck also suggested the AAA auto care plus garage. She said they would look at the car; they were open today till five. This was 1100 in the morning and they would assess the car within one hour and give me a call within 1 hour of assessing the situation. They would do their best to get it done on that day. That was what I needed done and that's what I would have been most appreciative for. As it turned out, that was an outright lie! I dropped the car off at the shop. The desk attendant, Brian, said he was busy, he might be able to get to it in an hour to do or three cars ahead of me and he only had two people working. I realized this was the situation and I let them take the car.
After an hour and a half, when I did not hear from them, I called the shop back. It was about 1 o'clock. He said they had not had a chance to look at the car and I let him know that I was supposed to be making a 10-hour drive to Kentucky and I really needed to leave tonight. I wanted to make sure that he understood it was a level of importance for me to have the car back today if at all possible. He assured me that it would. They would at least attempt to have the car ready today if it was possible.
About 2 o'clock I received a call from the garage. I was unable to answer the phone before it went to the machine. I immediately called them back. I called and called over six times to get no answer and had to call AAA corporate headquarters and have her transfer me into the garage. The message that Brian left with the desk for me simply said I did not leave the keys and that he was unable to look at the car. However, the fact of the matter was the tow truck driver asked me to leave the car in neutral. In neutral, the keys cannot be removed from the ignition. Therefore they were and had always been in the ignition where they should have been, according to the driver asking to leave it in neutral.
I was obviously a little frustrated at this point but Brian had once again assured me that they would attempt to have the car done by 5 PM so I could leave that evening. At 4:45 when I had not heard from them, I called the garage. The phone rang and kept me on hold for 10 minutes before they answered the call. Then the attendant said that they had not even looked at the card to assess it and that Brian had called me and told me that the car was not ever going to be looked at until Monday. This of course had never happened or I would've made arrangements to have it moved to some company garage somewhere else.
I am now late, stuck out of town and furious. I had been lied to by the AAA representatives that they would assess it within an hour and after about seven hours they had not looked at it nor had they called me or assess the situation. And now I have to wait another 48 hours before they will look at it and they are closing and locking the garage, so I cannot get my car to take to a competent individual. I am angry at AAA that they did not enforce assessing my car in an hour. I am furious that my car is now in the hands of what I view to be incompetent people and they are going to hold my car prisoner till Monday. I need to be to work on Monday, 10 hours away, now wondering if my car will be even looked at or when. I have no confidence in these individuals.
But most of all I was never told my car would not be looked at by Monday by Brian and so I have been directly lied to by your AAA Car Care Plus service station. Please, if someone could get back to me and let me know why this happened and why there seems to be gross negligence on many levels of service in your AAA car care plus Organization in Amherst New York. I am stuck in NY due to lies and incompetence. Did I mention the repair was to replace an alternator - a 1-hour service anywhere else!

Don't buy a battery from AAA! I bought a battery for my Toyota RAV 4. In a year, it started to fail and when I called to get the warranty replacement, they said it tested very low but okay and that if it was dead again, I'd have to have another mechanic test it and call them to come out again to the mechanic's garage and get a written computer diagnostic statement that the battery was bad. The independent mechanic said he'd been through this before with AAA and even with his statement, they didn't honor the warranty. The hassle was just too much so I just bought a new battery. The mechanic also told me that the tow truck guy said that if they don't sell a certain number of batteries every week, AAA will drop them as a service provider so they push the batteries - even if someone doesn't need one. So disappointing to learn that AAA is just like all the rest dishonest companies.

The cancelled check for $75 is from June/July. I called on 11/10 and was told I would get a call back. No one returned the call. Since I can't get a card from your business, I want my money back. I will be contacting consumer protection if this cannot be resolved. I'm not paying for new cards. I never received the originals. If you pull the original application, you will see the mistake rests with your company and nobody in your company wants to service me as a customer. My Range Rover (a 4WD vehicle) broke down on November 1st at ~4pm. I called AAA Texas. Note that the Range Rover requires towing on a flatbed truck only. A non-flatbed truck arrived ~4:30pm. The driver assured me it would be okay, and hitched up the front wheels of the vehicle. Twenty yards later, the Range Rover's wheels locked, yet the tow truck driver continued to drag the car for a further ~100 feet! Despite my protests, the driver then tried to tow my vehicle by the rear wheels, same thing. I told the driver to release my vehicle, and could see damage to both front tires.
By this time I'd called AAA to demand a flatbed tow truck. It took a further two hours to arrive. The original tow was requested to take the vehicle and myself to my local repair shop (we would have arrived at around 5:30pm). By the time we were en route, the shop had closed for the day, and I had to pay an additional USD85 for a tow from my home to the shop the following morning. My local tire store informs me I'll need two new front tires at USD500+. I cannot understand why AAA Texas didn't know a Range Rover needs a flatbed tow truck! I'm attaching some images of the damage and would welcome feedback on how to seek damages from AAA Texas.

I am a senior citizen on a fixed income and AAA has treated me dishonestly and unfairly. On July 2, 2012, I renewed my AAA service to begin on August 1, 2012. I paid $109 ahead of the due date (AAA confirmation # **). On August 13, 2012, I was forced to trade in my 10-year-old car due to mechanical problems and had to lease another vehicle. The new lease includes roadside service. This has caused me a financial hardship. A couple of days after leasing my car, and with my friend at my side, I called AAA to request a refund since I was only a few days into the new AAA service. They said I would receive a credit. In fact, my reply to that customer service representative was, "You are a reputable company."
I was very pleased at that time and called two friends to let them know that AAA was topnotch. You can listen to the taped AAA phone call in order to hear and confirm this conversation. Weeks passed but I never received my $109 refund. Later, they told me that in April of 2012, there is a new rule of no refunds. It is in fine print and not easily seen. I waited and waited and finally attempted to resolve this problem by calling AAA. I was very upset and distressed when they said that I will not be receiving this promised refund during a taped phone message that they admitted took place. I hope you can assist me in resolving this issue. Thank you!

My wife and I were driving home separately from dinner at a friend's house. She experienced a blow-out on the highway and pulled over at 2220 hours and called AAA for assistance. She called me to let me know, and I turned around and joined her. I decided to start changing the wheel myself. I finished over 90 minutes later, and there was still no sign of the help dispatched by AAA. We called AAA at that time to call off the tow truck and complain, but we did not get a reasonable response. My wife eventually got a call from a tow truck at 0030 hours wondering where she was. Frankly, it would have been a scary situation for her to be sitting in her car on the side of the road for over two hours without getting any assistance. A five-minute jump start turned into a four-day ordeal: I called for a jump start on my vehicle. The young man who arrived was obviously confused and untrained. He ignored my instruction that there was no hood release on my 1970 Cadillac Hearse and searched for one while I stood in disbelief. Then, despite my explaining that the battery died because I left dash lights on, he put a piece of equipment on the battery to "search for what's drawing it down." Then, when he couldn't get his equipment to work, he put the jumper cables on; and the wiring started smoking and burning. After about 15 seconds, he removed the jumper cables and called his boss. His boss said I needed to sign a disclaimer stating my battery was installed backward. Of course, I refused. I asked if he had reversed the jumper cables, and he denied it. AAA left, and my wiring was fried, my hood was still up, and my vehicle in worse shape than before.
The next day, I searched my security camera footage (Luckily, the cameras are trained on my vehicles.) and watched in living color while the guy put the cable on backward. I called AAA (It took two hours to get through.), and the regular person who answered couldn't help me. The supervisor I spoke to said he arranged for the car to be towed to Midas, repaired, and then towed back to my house. He said Midas agreed to hold the bill until the investigation was complete. The car was towed to Midas. I, of course, was required to go in and talk to them. They called later in the day and said my car was ready and they had replaced the electrical wiring. I drove back and was on the phone to AAA for a tow when they said, "Stop, the alternator is fried too and must be replaced." They were closed Sunday but said I could pick it up Monday.
On Monday, I called in sick from work (losing a day's pay) and waited for the call. Finally, in the afternoon, I called Midas. They said they weren't working on the car and were waiting for AAA to approve the repair. They said they only told AAA they would look at the vehicle, not repair it. Finally, I got hold of the investigator for AAA, and she said it was my word against the technician and he said he didn't reverse the jumper cables. I told her again that I had full color video footage that says otherwise. Half an hour later, she said the technician's boss had gone to Midas himself and paid the bill. So, apparently to AAA, the customer is wrong unless they have video.
Midas called Tuesday (another lost day of work) to get me to tow it home. When I called AAA for the tow, they claimed that I had no record or notes that indicated approval to tow my vehicle back home without it counting against me. I had to wait on hold for 15 minutes while they got approval. I insisted that the person who told the lies on Saturday about Midas fixing my car and holding the bill and the free tow to and from my house call me. They said he'd call at 6:30 am on Thursday. He didn't call until 10:30, and then he was blase about it and couldn't grasp why I was upset at the inconvenience, the loss of wages, the stress, the loss of my time, etc. He said AAA did everything it could and didn't owe me anything.
How can a five-minute jump start that cost me four days, two days of lost wages, hours of searching video footage, almost three hours on hold, having to repeat my story to four different people, four trips back and forth to the repair shop, time waiting for two trucks and being treated like a liar until I presented video (basically turning my life upside down for four days) be considered "no big deal" by AAA?

As we were walking out, I looked back and Gary and two other men that also worked there were laughing. When I got home, I informed my husband that something is funny! He stated to call them back and to ask them not to work on the car. My husband talked to Gary and Gary told him it will now cost $1,500. We informed him that we will think about it. They said they took the tires off and checked the car. This was Saturday. On Monday, we picked up the car. I took it to a Mercedes dealer that my husband buys from. They checked it and said the only thing wrong with the car was it needs brake oil change and will cost $90. I'm so upset. If they did this to me, what are they doing to other people?

I had a car accident at 10 pm, and I called AAA at 10:25 to report that I needed towing service. At 1:45 am, a technician finally called to tell me he was able to help me. Initially, a technician did call at 10:45 pm confirming my location; however, my car was just across the county line (really, if I was parked across the street, it would have been different), so they had to send my request to a different county. So, 3 hours and about 10 phone calls later, I finally had someone offering service. However, it was 1:15 am, and I had a friend waiting with me to take me home. We both had to work the next day and had dogs in crates at home. I could not wait any longer. So, I had a friend bring me back at 7am to my car. AAA still was confused about me needing service and my location. I finally gave up and just called my insurance company who towed within 45 minutes and didn't change any mileage. Terrible, terrible service. I will most likely not renew my membership - I've been a member for 8 years. This was my first time needing them, and they were not there for me.

I called for a locksmith. I was told it would be an hour. At 45 minutes, I received a call back from AAA stating the locksmith could not come out unless I had a key code from the dealership. Because AAA waited 45 minutes to call me with this detail, the dealership was closed at 5:01pm! I called back AAA to request flat bed tow to my home one hour away. After another hour, the tow company arrived with no flat bed. They did not have a flat bed available for 3-plus hours and offered to take my car to a local shop, but they were not able to take me home! That was a waste and a useless offering. I ended up calling a cab to take me home, which took another 45 minutes for them to pick me up. I left my vehicle overnight and got a ride back to my vehicle with a key to drive it home myself. I am furious with the lack of expedition and customer care. I am still waiting to hear on what they will do to try and resolve.

I had marked the expiration date on my calendar so I would know when to expect it - but not 35 days in advance. If this money is not back in my account by the end of business today, I will be extremely upset and extremely verbal about it. We live on a serious budget and do not appreciate this kind of tactic. AAA is not considering their customer.

On September 5, we ran over a loose tire on I-90 near Cleveland. We made it safely to my brother-in-law's house but I called AAA for a tow; I feared that the vehicle might have suffered some damage. The towing vehicle arrived in an hour; it was the wrong size. I had described my rig as a "20-ft. motor home". They sent a light duty rig and the driver declined to tow me. He called in the information and I waited for another half an hour. I finally cancelled the service. Fortunately, I was able to make it to the repair shop safely on my own. I do not understand why your dispatcher was confused about which truck to send. If I cannot rely on AAA, it may be time to switch to another auto club.

I had my car towed to a tire and auto repair center because of what seemingly was a battery problem. My husband was working and could not be with me. I had my 6 year old plus a trunk full of groceries. They gave me the runaround saying it could be the starter, alternator or even the timing belt. They ended up taking their sweet time in diagnosing the problem. They kept the car for the weekend. Monday, I picked up my car with my husband and it was the battery. They charged me $100 for the battery and another $100 to put it in and test it. And this place is AAA certified?! They are a bunch of crooks! Now, a few months later, I find that the strap holding down the battery is corroded and has fallen off completely. Either AAA needs stricter guidelines or this auto center needs to go under.

On September 15, 2012, my daughter, Jessica **, was driving the 2006 Chevy Silverado when she had a flat tire. After I myself called AAA for roadside assistance, a AAA service truck was at the site within 20 minutes and put on the spare tire. The problem is that when the AAA service person removed the spare tire, he did not secure the spare tire apparatus underneath the truck (which holds the spare tire). After Jessica told me that she heard something fall off the truck, I took a look on Sunday (9/23) underneath the truck, and sure enough, the spare tire apparatus is gone. So it is very evident that the AAA service member did not secure the spare tire apparatus, which lead to its loss. I expect AAA to acquire and install a new spare tire apparatus or reimburse me for the same (if I have to acquire it).

I had a car trouble and called AAA. I was told that my car could be towed to the nearest AAA car care center in Mt. Pleasant off Hwy 17. I was told that I would get a free inspection. Well, before my car was even looked at, I was called by AAA car care center and was told it would cost me $99.00 to get it looked at. I was able to call customer service back and get that charge taken care of. However, once the work was done, I experienced some problems with my electrical system that weren’t there before. When I took it back to AAA to have it checked out, I spoke to Mr. **, the "new" manager at the AAA on Hwy 17.
He spoke to me like I was an idiot. He was condescending and rude. He acted like I just made the whole thing up. When I left the car care center dissatisfied, I ran another errand and found that my car would not start once when I was ready to leave! How’s that for making it up? I called AAA and filed a complaint stating I would not deal with Mr. ** again. Lo and behold, he calls me again. I explained that it’s awfully coincidental that my car was starting to have these electrical problems the minute I drive it off the AAA lot. He is supposed to have one of the other centers take a look at my car, but I haven’t heard anything yet. Woman: do not take your car to AAA! The treatment of women is atrocious!

In Sept 2012, AAA pulled out $96.00 out of my account to pay for AAA, which I haven't had since 2009. When I called to see why they did this, I was told that I had approved this in 2011. They said it was set up on auto payment, which I had never done. First, my husband called and he was told this and that she would take it off right then. The money would be put back in the bank within 5 minutes. Today my husband checked and it was still on our bank statement and it was still on there, so I called. This time I talked to a guy and he gave me a line of crap and said that there were letters sent out last year that if you don't want automatic withdraw, to send this letter back.
That is crap and illegal without my approval. The one year we had it in 2009, we never used it so we never paid it again and the card ran out. I think this might have something to do with me checking on AAA auto insurance when I was trying to find a cheaper insurance. Florida has really high insurance in the place we lived at a couple of months ago. The guy I spoke to said that I had to go to my bank and let them investigate this charge. Now stop and go back and read where I said he told me that a letter was sent out to the members stating if you don't want to have auto withdraw, send that letter back.
Now he told me that it would take 3 weeks to 1 month to get my money back into my account, which is so unfair. I am just like a lot of people who is unemployed, just making it day by day and have to pay bills. Then, I get something like this to happen is not fair. AAA is a big joke and after this and reading all the complaints, I wish I had never joined this company. Buyers beware of AAA. I will be more than glad to pass this along to everyone I know.

This occurred on Sept. 4 around 1 pm. I told the person on the phone what happened. I also told her I might be out of gas. I wanted a tow truck & to make sure he had a gallon of gas with him. I knew she was going to be a problem because she did not seem to understand. First, she was going to just send someone with gas. I said, "No," because I did not know if that was why my car stopped running. I didn't want to wait 2x.
It took about an 1-1/2 hr. for the truck and, of course, he had no gas with him! He wasn't told to bring any. So, he had to drive to get gas & come back. He also was told I wanted my car towed to some town in KY! I live in NC, and was stranded in SC. Now why would I want to go to KY! This lady was something else. She also asked me many times what town I was close to & I kept telling her Spartanburg, SC. I also told her I was near exit 5, SC going E on I-26! Does she not have a map? It was very frustrating & took way too long. The tow truck driver was wonderful, however.

It was 2:01 pm. I was told I would have help by 3 pm. I waited outside. I had no phone, no money on my person. At 3:30, I went into Big Lots to use their phone to call AAA. I called the 800 number, was transferred to the local office. Then, they tried to contact the driver. His line was busy. They attempted a 3way call. I was disconnected.
At that point, I saw a neighbor shopping in Big Lots. I asked him for a favor to get me home to climb my fence and get in my house to get my spare car key and get a ride back to the car. Finally the local dispatcher said that they finally found someone to get in my trunk (it was 4:12 now, one hour and 12 min. past the time they were to be there). I said, "Don't bother, I am driving my car." The excuses I got were that Infinitis have difficult security systems and there is one guy that can get into trunks and he was busy and was finally available. Really? AAA New Mexico - We broke down on I-10 just outside of Animas, NM while transporting our daughter to college. The oil light flashed on, the car began to lose power, and we pulled over. We waited 3 and 1/2 hours in the desert at 110 degrees before the tow truck came, then was told by him we'd have to be towed to Deming, NM, 80 miles away because that was the nearest AAA affiliate, at a cost of $400. The mechanic at Interstate Transmissions in Deming first told us it was a timing belt and he had to get the part from Las Cruces, another 150 miles away, at a cost of $325. When we returned the next morning, he told us 3 more hours and when we came back, told us we needed a whole new engine at a cost of $4,000. We were forced to put my daughter alone on a Greyhound bus to Little Rock, AR and returned to Tucson by bus.
The car is still being stored in Deming with half my daughter’s things in it. I have advertised it locally, and got this response from a man in Albuquerque: "In over a decade of owning and driving these cars (my family always had 240s, so I started early), not once have I ever seen anything messed up with the cam, valves, or head that will ruin all of those (not on an unmodified, non-turbo car, anyway). I had a 1984 240 turbo that was driven from the east coast with a blown head gasket, and he did pretty much ruin the engine, but he was just being an idiot. My guess is that you broke a timing belt. If the car cranks faster than normal with a different sound, but won't start, it’s a timing belt for sure.
"Even if your car has functional power steering and air conditioning (two extra belts to take off), replacing it should take less than two hours in any reputable shop, with less than $75 in parts if you don't buy a genuine Volvo timing belt and tensioner. I've done it on the side of the road in an hour when my own cars have broken them, and they take half an hour in my driveway. Unless you ran out of oil or coolant, or overheated to an epic extent, it can't be that bad." If AAA is using their affiliates to run scams on stranded travelers in isolated areas, something needs to be done.

Our complaint involves mismanagement of our bridal registry funds. Many of our wedding guests were either turned away or when they called and left messages, their calls were never returned. We feel that some of our guests may have given credit or debit card information thinking that they were donating to our fund but cards never run. A check was found in the desk of a terminated travel agent from one of our guests that had been there for weeks. AAA had promised to send a letter to all of our guests seeking if any of them had tried to give but were not charged and to apologize for the ordeal, which after a month of them dragging their feet on this matter, I sent an email expressing my displeasure. Their response was that they were going to no longer pursue this matter and dropped us giving us the feeling that they never intended to do as they said. Also a few weeks ago, we were informed that the resort that we booked would be closing instead of getting us the help we needed right away so we could find another venue that would meet our needs. After over a week and a half of trying to do something through AAA, we requested our money back and within 2 hours had another trip booked through another travel agency. Our whole ordeal with AAA has been ridiculous.
I have been having serious issues with AAA in Billings and in Helena. I have not gotten the service or help that I think I deserve. This all started last summer when I stopped by the Billings office and spoke with Susan ** about setting up a Bridal registry/honeymoon fund. She said this was not a problem, to come back at about 6 months out. I did this and we were looking at honeymoon locations and sites. I told Susan I would be sending her a sample of her work info that I was going to have printed on my wedding invitations. I didn't hear right back assuming she was busy.
A friend of my mother's was having a shower for me and wanted to talk with Susan verifying her info. When the friend called, she was informed that Susan had retired. I was not notified of this, hence the no response to my email. I went down to AAA and was told that Tricia ** would take over. Dealing with Tricia was an ordeal as I would leave messages, both phone and emails, and she would not get back to me. I had people going to the office to donate money to my honeymoon and they were told the registry was not up and running. My fiance called down and tried to talk to Tricia but she was out sick for a change.
He was given Joan's number in Helena to talk to. She assured him it was up and running. The next day, I was able to talk with Tricia and she said no it wasn't. Our guests were calling us saying they had left messages or stopped by and Tricia did not get back to them. Also, guests in Bozeman went to that AAA office to make a donation and they didn't have a clue what the person was talking about. This was a constant battle but got out of hand the week before my wedding. Tricia would not answer the phone or emails and we found out she no longer worked for AAA.
We were told we would be dealing with Michelle out of the Helena office. Michelle felt so bad she offered to up my membership to a premium status paid through 2013. That was a slap in the face, I felt. We were promised that AAA would send letters to all our guests explaining the situation in case money was missing. We did not have any records of what had been donated even though we knew people had given to the fund. That has not happened. We had found a resort we liked and put down a deposit of $3264.60.
Tricia had told us the travel package would be approximately $1000 less than it ended up being. Two weeks ago we were informed that the resort we were going to was closing so we needed to pick another property within the preferred carries properties. This went on for a week and a half, having to leave messages for Michelle that were not returned in a timely manner, sometimes a day or so before we heard. We were offered properties that didn't fit what we wanted. As of Friday the 20th, after a week and a half of leaving messages, we decided to get our money back and start over. This should have been done in a day, but we would leave messages with Michelle then she would leave messages with the company in New York.
At 3:30 on Friday, I went to a new travel agency who cared what was happening and worked hard at trying to get us to Jamaica where our original resort was located. That did not happen as the planes were full or cost more than the resort. Had we started this process earlier, we might still have been able to get to Jamaica. We ended up having to change where we are going and also when. This is/was supposed to be the happiest time of my life. Because of AAA, it has been a nightmare.
I understand it isn't AAA's fault that the resort closed but we have been treated poorly. We were also in contact with Tim ** who didn't return calls in a timely manner either. He pushed us off onto Michelle. We were promised conference calls which never happened; I don't know how many days I sat at home waiting for a call that never came. I was given your name as a contact and felt you needed to know what was going on in your company. This situation has given AAA a very bad reputation with all my guests. I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau to file a formal complaint. I don't know how many times we were told we were top priority. If this is top priority treatment, I'd hate to see low priority. Thank you for your time.

I had a very bad experience with a tow truck driver on Monday, July 23, but even worse with AAA operators and a supervisor. On Sunday, July 22, when I was leaving work, my car would not start. I had been working all day and decided to wait until Monday to call AAA, which I did at 2:36 pm. My complaint is twofold – AAA, and Redhill Towing. When I placed the call to AAA, I was told the driver would arrive in 45 minutes. It was approximately 3:20 pm. After one hour (3:45 pm), I called and was told the driver would be there in 5-10 minutes. I explained to AAA that my mechanic closes at 5:00 and I was renting a car and the rental agency closes at 5:30. The driver finally arrived at 4:20 pm and sat in his car doing paperwork for 5 minutes and then very slowly got out to look at my car. There was no way we would make it by 5:00 to the mechanic or 5:30 to the car rental agency.
I will admit that at this point, I was so infuriated with the delay and false promises made by AAA for timing and the driver's lazy, rude behavior that I told him to forget it and was as rude to him as he had been to me. I opened my driver's car door to get my keys and noticed my door speaker was missing. This speaker has been loose, but it was still attached. When I asked the driver where the speaker was, he said, "I told you it was in the seat." He had not told me anything about the speaker. I have a photo that shows it is not only detached but broken. I then called AAA and spent over 45 minutes and four phone calls, trying to reach a supervisor to complain about the horrible service from Redhill Towing and the equally bad service from AAA.
I finally reached an AAA agent, who seemed to comprehend that I was not willing to use Redhill Towing to tow my car after my bad experience. He said he had put a note in my file along with a call number to reference, so that when I next call AAA, I could use another tow provider since that is how angry and dissatisfied I was with the overall lack of customer service. This agent's name is Kevin, and he gave me a reference number. This brings me to the next issue. Instead of being able to ride with the driver on Monday to the car rental agency, on Tuesday, I had to take a taxi and pick up a car. After spending over three hours on Monday dealing with this ridiculously easy task of having my car towed and then paying a taxi to get a rental car on Tuesday, I then called AAA on Thursday at 12:40 pm to arrange to have my car towed. There was no reference in my file, so I had to explain - again - that I did not want to have Redhill Towing pick up my car.
The agent assured me I could choose another tow company and they would be there in 30 minutes (1:10 pm), so I should leave my home ASAP to be sure and be there when they arrived. I'm sure you can see where this is going. Forty five minutes later, there's no tow truck. I called AAA, and they told me they reached the other tow company and they were on their way. I decided to call this company myself at 1:25 pm, and they had not even been contacted by AAA! Another Redhill Towing truck was on the way. I told AAA to cancel the tow. The Redhill Towing truck still showed up. I then spent another 20+ minutes on hold and finally spoke to a supervisor at AAA. I told her I had been promised by two agents that I could use another tow company, and she said that wasn't possible since AAA contracts with Redhill Towing for my area.
She could not have cared less about making her customer - me - happy by allowing another company to pick up my car, but she only cared about her relationship to the business AAA had contracted with. She said this could be used as a learning experience and teaching tool for agents, as if this makes me any happier or remotely feel like I am a valued customer to AAA. I have had the tow company of my choice (an AAA-approved provider) haul my car to their garage, which is what I had hoped to accomplish with my AAA membership. They are waiting to see your response before charging me for the tow, since Ms. ** would not approve them picking up my car.
As a person who works in the Customer Service industry, I know it can be difficult sometimes to deal with the public. But I also know how important it is to respect my customers and attempt to give them a positive experience, since I know that for every happy customer that raves about my restaurant, a dissatisfied customer will complain 10 more times to 10 times as many people. At this point, I am a very unhappy customer.

I am writing to let you know that I have been a member of AAA since 1987 but I will be canceling my membership and filing complaints against the company. On Friday, July 21, Jim, the service technician, from The Auto Club Group in Pompano Beach, came to my house because of a dead battery. I had purchased the battery in November 2010 from AAA. The 3 year warranty was not up. I had had my Honda Odyssey serviced at the Honda dealer earlier that day for an oil change and asked them to check the battery because it had given me problems all week. They tested the battery to show me it needed to be replaced. It had to be jumped to leave the dealership so I called AAA because my AAA battery was under warranty. Jim, the service technician from the Auto Club Group in Pompano Beach, came to my house and tested the battery and proceeded to show me that it had a drain on it so it would not be covered under the warranty. He called a supervisor at my request who told him my battery would not be covered for replacement.
That was a total lie and I am astounded that AAA would scam a long time customer so it would not have to replace a $110 battery. There was no drain on my battery, no loose wire. My alternator and starter are perfect. I had Jim jump my battery and I drove to the dealer and had them check out everything. It was fine. I have the paperwork to prove it. The only thing wrong was the battery, which AAA refuses to replace and honor my warranty. I have never been so poorly mistreated and lied to by a company that I had respected. I had to pay $150 for a new battery when all my car needed was for AAA to replace the battery it had installed 1 1/2 years prior.
I am filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau and any organization I can find that has anything to do with AAA. I will do everything I can to make sure people know not to use AAA and not to buy batteries from AAA. AAA should be ashamed of itself. In a tough economy, I would think AAA could not afford to lose two more customers. You have lost a previously loyal customer over your scam. I have the paperwork from my dealer showing that the only thing wrong with my car was the battery.

I am a pastor and I was headed to an event; suddenly, the right rear tire blew out. Fortunately, I was able to pull over to the shoulder of the road without incident. I was in the middle of nowhere, but when I had come to a stop, I had stopped right in front of a roadside call box. Great, I thought! I picked up the phone and told the operator what had occurred. I gave the operator the numbers located on the call box and she told me that she had pinpointed my location. I told her I was an AAA member and she said she would connect me. After 45 minutes, AAA called and asked me if I could tell them where I was. I gave them the call box number, and to my surprise they still couldn't determine where I was. Another 30 minutes passed before AAA called and said they still don't know.
I'm on the freeway by the way. The driver told me he thought that he knew where I am, but if I was not there, he wanted me to call 911 so the highway patrol could relay where I was. Can you imagine that? Finally, the driver arrived. And he doesn't even have the proper tools. He asked me if I have tools. Fortunately, I had some, but I admit I'm thinking, “I'm paying for this?” He jacked up the van and then informed me it's not high enough, so he needs to place wood under the jack. I don't need to know that! He began to jack it up again and boom! My van falls off the jack, scaring my wife and daughter to death. He finally got it changed, but when I looked at the tire this morning, it was not properly inflated. I have been a member since 1993, but will not be for much longer. I am not getting my money's worth!

I had an AAA battery that was still under warranty. However, the battery would not hold a charge overnight or start my Ford Explorer more than twice without running for half an hour to recharge the battery. AAA charged me $55 to come out and test the battery and told me that the battery was good, and that I must have some other problem. I had had the vehicle's charging system and current draw checked, and no problem could be found. AAA still refused to replace my battery, stating that they were standing behind the battery test that showed the battery was good.
I then went to Pull-A-Part and got a $20 used battery. The used battery started my Explorer every time, every day for a week. When I called AAA back and reported that I had replaced the battery to confirm that it was indeed the problem, they said that I had voided my warranty by removing the battery myself and they refused to replace the battery. The used battery continues to work and I will never do business with AAA ever again. Furthermore, I avoid businesses that advertise to be AAA partners.

My Honda Odyssey tire got busted around 11:05 PM Friday (07/13/2012) on Tollway Road (i.e. W Sam Houston Pkwy in Houston Texas). Having AAA membership, I called them for the service around 11:15 PM or so. I was hesitant to change the tire myself for Honda Odyssey, especially being a heart patient, I was reluctant to do heavy lifting. I was told someone will be there at 12:01 AM at the latest as I was stranded right on the freeway which was pretty busy; AAA said they will make it a priority. But I didn't know my nightmare just started. I ended up calling AAA again around 12:10 AM and was told the driver is on its way and will call me. I waited for another 20 minutes to no avail. It was around 1:00 AM now when I got frustrated and called AAA again.
AAA gave me the same story so I asked to get me to the supervisor. They told me the supervisor will call me soon. I waited for 10 more minutes and then started changing the tire myself. Once I was done taking the old tire out and tightening the replacement tire, I received a call from AAA that the driver will be there in 15 minutes. But I said thank you for nothing and for not providing the service for what I am paying and told them I will be getting to AAA management for this inconvenience. I am hoping that this will be conveyed to AAA. Thanks.

I purchased a battery from AAA. I was given a warranty. It had issues where I had to call twice for jumps. The last time, I was told that the battery was fine and I had to take it to an AAA authorized dealer for testing. He falsely said that the battery was OK after charging the battery. I was charged $44.98 later on in a private conversation. He told me that the battery was not good and he had to make up the story fearing retribution from AAA. The following day, I could not start my car. I took the car to another dealer, which he tested the battery and informed me that the battery is no longer good and I had to replace it, which I did, paying $130.00. I do have records of everything. I have been an AAA member for many years with good standing. I am shocked with what has transpired. I would like to be reimbursed with all the costs.

My car was disabled in front of my house today, as I tried to take my children to day care and go to work. I placed the request to have my car towed at 9:18am. The call center told me that the ETA was 60 minutes later. This estimate is already higher than usual for all the years I have used the service. Also, given that I am in the middle of a big town and not in a rural area in the time of the day, I thought that was a very conservative time in their end. However, 1 hour and 10 minutes later, I called to find out where the truck was. The representative rudely replied that it would take another 30 minutes. 40 minutes later, I called. I tracked the assistance, and the same representative told me that help would arrive any minute and that he would call me 5 minutes later to confirm.
After 2 hours waiting for the tow truck, my car was taken to its final destination. When the driver arrived, I asked then if they were busy that morning. He replied by saying that he had just received the call and was not busy at all. I am not sure who made the mistake, but to punish a paying member without even offering an apology or explanation is absurd.

I am appalled to say the least. I have been an AAA member for a few years now and have always counted on them to be there to help me out whenever I need roadside assistance. I've used their services numerous times to get my keys out of my car, to help with flats, etc. Last night, I locked my keys in my car again and, of course, I turned to AAA to help me out. The driver, Moises, came quickly and retrieved my keys quickly. It was good, speedy service, no complaints there. However, this afternoon I received a text message from a strange number I have never seen before. I will copy and paste what this message said: "Hey. This is Moises, the AAA guy who unlocked your car last night. I don't mean to bug but I wanted to ask if that was your BF or if you were single."
Now, since when is it okay for an employee of any company to keep a customer's personal information for their own personal use?! He could very well have my home address as well. Should I be worried about that too?! I am "creeped" out, disgusted, and now, when I need roadside assistance, I don't know if I will feel comfortable calling AAA, especially not in the same area. AAA is a company I trusted. I am extremely angry and disappointed and so is my husband!

Title Transfer Error - I bought a 2007 Vespa from a person in Monroeville, Pennsylvania and since we were both AAA members, we went to the Monroeville AAA office at 2725 Mosside Blvd. Monroeville, PA 15146 on July 2nd, 2012. There we transferred the title, but were told that I had to have the motorcycle insurance, not just a rider on my car insurance for a license plate to be issued. The member rep ** said that she could do the paperwork for the title and all I would need would be to come back in to any office the next day with proof of motorcycle insurance and the registration and plate would be issued.
The next day, July 3rd, I went to my local AAA office at 1760 Park Manor Blvd, Pittsburgh, PA 15205 to complete my transaction. However, the member rep at that office informed me that she could not issue a plate and registration without the title. I told her what Ms. ** at the Monroeville office had told me, but she insisted that there was nothing she could do. I would now have to wait the 4-6 weeks for a plate to be issued. The member rep at the Robinson AAA did contact Ms. ** while I was standing at her desk and explained to Ms. ** that what she did was not proper. They laughed about it and the Robinson rep told Ms. ** not to worry about it.
At no point did anyone at either AAA office take responsibility for this major error. No one at either AAA office offered an apology to me. No one at either office let me know that Ms. ** would receive proper retraining on handling this type of transaction, which tells me that it will occur again to another AAA member. Because of this incompetent AAA member service rep, I have paid for a 2007 Vespa and for the required insurance, but I cannot legally ride the scooter for at least a month. I really expected better from AAA and I will question renewing my membership.

I was driving home from work late at night. Due to decreased vision, I ran over a pot hole that I didn't see. My tire became flat, so I had to tow my car to my house. I attempted to change the tire myself, but I have special rims that required thin wall sockets to remove it. I went to AutoZone, Advance Auto Parts, and Sears Auto Center to try and buy the equipment, but with no luck. I was referred by one of my regular customers from work about AAA. After having talked to him, I decided to give it a try knowing that I need to have my car up and running as soon as possible being that the car is my only car that I drive daily.
I signed up for their annual membership and called them to have my tire removed. They removed the tire with no problems. I took the tire, got it fixed and called AAA the second time on May 15th to have my tire put back on because I still did not have the tools to screw the nuts back on. He put the tire on and said everything should be fine and it really looked fine. After the tire was put back on, I had it sitting on my driveway for almost three weeks because I didn't have any money to pay for my expired sticker. When I did start driving it again, I realized my car was a little shaky and my alignment was messed up. I called Willow Bend Automotive and asked them for a quote for an alignment; they told me to come in and let them inspect the car. I told them I don't have the money and that I will come in about a week.
I was driving home from the gym and heading towards the highway when my car started to shake and rattle noisily. I had my radio on, but the noise overpowered the radio. I decided to make a U-turn and see what was going on. Right before I completed the U-turn, the tire that AAA recently put back onto my car fell off the axle and I ran into a ditch. I called AAA and explained to them and they sent a tow dispatcher to check out the situation.
He asked me who was the last person to touch that tire and I replied, "AAA." He told me they didn't tighten the nuts tight enough. He showed me the tire and how all five of the lug nuts were missing. When he took the tire off the car, that was when we realized the nuts didn't just fall out - they were cut in half when the wheel fell off. The accident caused damages to my wheel, tire, axle, suspension and my fenders, possibly even more. I called AAA to file a complaint and they told me my complaint will take 8-10 business days. I responded that I had work the next day - so how was I supposed to get there? They told me they couldn't help any further. They did not apologize to me once, but instead told me that the person that installed my tire is no longer with them.
They also told me that they will send an AAA agent to my house and assess the damages, but no one ever came. After 8 days and not hearing from AAA, I decided to give them a call. I asked for the status on my complaint and they told me they tried contacting me, but with no success. That was a complete lie because I've been waiting with my cell with me at all times for them to call me. They told me they will not pay for any damages because it’s been a month since the AAA agent fixed my tire and that they are not sure if anyone else had touched my tire after the AAA guy did. I said to him why he waited this long to tell me this. And he said he was sorry and that was the end of it.

My car needed a battery. AAA came to the house. He did not have the correct battery with him. He said he would have it tomorrow. AAA was going to charge me another service call the next day to deliver the battery. It was not my fault that he did not have the correct one. I was ready to buy the battery then. I went to Sears for the battery. I have towing and so on with my car companies, but I continue with them since I have been an AAA member for so many years. If this is the attitude that you have, I have to rethink about renewing my membership.

So, America, buy it and pay extra, but do not dare use it. As far as the travel help, it’s lame. Seriously, who needs TripTik when you have navigation devices? As far as the famed discounts, good luck using them. It seems to me there is no AAA discount. Their travel staff has limited knowledge. Find another road side assistance program and go to a real travel agent. Do not join this!

I called to have them tow my disabled car, that had been towed off the Garden State Parkway the night before by the State Police, across the street from where the tow truck left it. The tow truck left the car at the Acura sales dealership and service is across the street. The supervisor insisted I be with the car. I had been dropped off at work by my daughter as I had no keys or car now to drive there to "be present". I offered to sign anything and fax it to them so that the Acura people could sign for the tow but I was told to call a tow truck myself and pay for it. I have AAA towing and yet their policy denies me usage in this circumstance. Please help to change this so customers can use the service they pay for. I am furious.

On 6/21/12, my wife had a flat tire off Route 75 in the Tampa area. She contacted AAA, which sent a tow truck. The driver was instructed to deliver the car to a location on Dale Mabry. The company was Sun Point Automotive & Towing. The driver said there was a Goodyear location closer and delivered the car to that location: 13360 S. Us Hwy 301, Riverview, FL. I want to know if this location is certified by AAA. At that location, the manager told my wife that all four tires were bad and had to be replaced. I have two of the tires in my possession and will have them checked by my mechanic. I did not think that a certified AAA shop would use scare tactics on an AAA customer. The total for what started as one flat tire ended up costing us $614.19.
Beyond the cost of the tires, they charged my wife $63.80 for balancing the wheels and an additional charge of $58 for Road Hazard Protection, which I do not understand because we have AAA. They then gave my wife an estimate for additional work for $315.26, which was not required. The total cost for the one flat tire would have cost $929.45. I would like to know why AAA certifies repair locations that attempt to scare women into having unnecessary repairs done on their car when they have a disabled car in an unfamiliar location. I would like a response on this issue. I will contact AAA after the two tires are checked by my mechanic. My wife was told that the tires had dry rot. I have never been charged for balancing tires and have no idea why they charged my wife for Road Hazard Protection.
We have had AAA for over ten years and have never had a problem with your service. I do not like the fact that this location attempted to take advantage on a woman needing assistance. Also, the manager, when giving her the additional estimate, asked her how much money she had. This is an aggressive policy, I think, by Goodyear and I do not understand why AAA uses them. I expect a reply from AAA.

My 1998 Ford Explorer stalled and was towed to AAA approved garage in Charleston, SC. The amount of repairs was excessive $712.92 for a new alternator. Since I was held captive and unable to drive elsewhere, I consented to the repairs. I contacted the local Ford Dealer and received a written estimate for $202.06 less. I want a refund of at least $202.06 for overcharges.
