I have to 100% monitor how much they charge me for each item in check out line when I shop at Wal-Mart store # 3762 in West Des Moines, Iowa. It is not a fun thing to do to be honest. But I have to be responsible for my money since 9 out of 10 times I found them over charged me. Something ridiculous happened today. My eyes were only 5 seconds away from the monitor when I was unloading the bags from the rack to my cart in order to create spaces for the cashier. I wish they didn't do anything wrong in those 5 seconds. But I just couldn't put my trust on Wal-Mart. So I reviewed the receipt when I got home. Oh of course, she charged 6 kiwi fruits at 33 cents each as 6 cantaloupes at 3 each for 18! What a disgusting incident! Cantaloupe and kiwi fruit, they are not even close! They gave my overcharged money back after I made a special trip back. But the experience is so disgusting and absurd! I wish they were not trained to have those impressive skills to take advantage of the customer!

bait and switch is a common practice in the world of free market but sad to say the wal mart world monopoly also has started to practice some of these same hard sell tactics. For example one of the more common practices of this is to place merchandise over the wrong shelf price as your complaint suggests but the more deceptive practice was disclosed to me by the stores management only after my formal complaint was addressed to him through the CEO IN ARK. AND HERE IS WHAT I WAS TOLD:

"It is wal marts practice to place merchandise in a discount/closeout section of the store without a discount price marked on it while awaiting a reduced price to be sent down from the main office". Hopefully this is not an example of what is to come in the new world order of monopoly because it is an absolute deception to miss lead shoppers into assuming they can receive a discounted price at the register only to be humiliated as a spectacle to others when you are debating why you are being charged the regular price with no discount offered to you. well needless to say I found out the hard way while standing in the check out line for nearly 30 min.

as the debate continued leaving those viewing to conclude that I was trying to get something for a reduced price when the store intended to get full price by way of this bate and switch policy. Whats worse is the fact that wal mart acknowledges this practice but refuses to change there methods by keeping the unmarked supposed discounted item off the discount shelf until they can properly display a discount price on the item.

Stephen of Martinsburg, WV October 9, 2009

Learned 2 months back that I was being overcharged for 3 pack/ gallon of distilled water at local WalMart. For years they have listed price of 3 pack carton on shelves at one price for the carton, but when rung up at the registers, they were unable to scan barcode or enter code for the 3 pack carton--so they would ring the gallons up individually, AT INDIVIDUAL PER GALLON PRICE (.83), which came in at 2.49 when I went to purchase some cartons last Tuesday evening, 10/6/09.

I was surprised they still hadn't corrected this issue within their system, as it was called to their management's attention the last 2 visits I had made to buy water. This time, I was now being directed to pay for it at the higher price and await their manager to take me over to their Customer Service/Returns counter to resolve it, refused and told them they could just put it back, I would file a complaint since they seem to be incapable of correcting this, or unwilling.

This is the third time I had to inform cashier that opening up the cartons and ringing up the gallons individually was charging more than the carton price listed on the shelf sticker. The two (2) times I bought water before, the cashier had the cashier supervisor/manager come over and they acknowledged the overcharge and corrected it; both times before it was the same manager who took care of it. This would require standing there for a bit more time for them to correct the price--after standing in line and waiting to begin with, and call attention to the purchase.

Now for the last 2 years the local WalMarts here have been unable to enter a price for 3 pack cartons at the registers, so they opened the cartons, scanned one and charged for three individually. I purchase distilled water for a chronic medical condition; have been buying 3-4 cartons (one carton lasts me almost a week for coffee, drinking, etc.) at a time and store it for use. Their having to open the cartons was irksome, as then the cartons wouldn't be stable when stacked on top of another for storage.

Having recently found they have been overcharging for this water for at least 2 years (the time they have been unable to scan and ring up the carton), each gallon being .07-.08 additional each this way than if the carton price was charged. Can only imagine how much extra consumers are being charged in this manner, as both local stores in Martinsburg WV have this issue and it seems it is a wider problem than that. overcharged .07-.08 per gallon, 12-14 gallons monthly, for as long as last 2 years

They have a sigh saying International Wires up to 500.00 for 8.00. They charged me 10.00. When asked the lady she says that what we have in the computer. I think this is false advertisement.

Jeff of Edmonton, AB September 28, 2009

Please explanin to me that [they] can have different prices on fodd . Example Walmart Edmonton. 4 litre of milk 3.69 Ft Saksatchewan 20 min drive same 4 litre of milk 5.23. That is a serious mark up. example again Wal-Mart Edmonton 4 litre choclate milk 4.53. Ft Saskatchewan 6.17. That is absolute price gouging! It going to cost [them] the 15,000.00 to 20,000.00 we trust in [them] annually and many many other friends and family will be notified!

Darrell of Cameron, TX September 27, 2009

CAUTION: I have noticed that Walmart will raise the price of some name brand products such as sugar, cottage cheese, and milk, just to make their grate value brand seem much cheaper or to make a huge profit off of name brands. In fact, in my area, I found the price of name brand sugar to be 80 cents cheaper at local grocery store. It was not on sale. This is a deceptive practice therefore, starting today I will no longer buy my groceries at Walmart.

We bought some duracell batteries on Friday Sept. 25. The sale tag was there. We got home and last night I checked my receipt and they had charged full price. We went back today Saturday Sept. 26 and was told the sale was over on thursday. They would not give them to us for the sale price. We returned the batteries.

i went to my local wallmart store today,in rocky mount va.to purchase 3 or 4 pair of rustler jeans as i do about every month becouse i use these jeans for work pants and destroy them regularly, our store has been under renovationfor reasons unknown to our area for several months now finding anything is impossable, the new ilses are impassable, the employees are agrivated and irritable, and the prices have increased thruoghout the store drastically, the rustler jeans as one example were 11.98 2 months ago ,last month they were 13.98 today they are 15.50,now i may be country but that is a 20% increase in 2 months during a resession, needless to say i did not purchase them and went one block away and purchased them for 9.99 a pair at roses. last year according to my check book ,i spent 11,239.42 at wall mart this year i have spent to date 8,642.56 at wallmart. im sorry wall mart but myself and many others in this area who spend this kind of small change in your store are not paying for your renovations, its back to roses ,k mart, lowes, and krogers for me and mine,we the people of rocky mount va. whom feel the same as i, here by boycot wall mart, and will take our small change elsewhere.

Kay of Soper, OK September 16, 2009

I am just about sick of getting ripped off at Walmart! I know that today I haven't got a lot of money to gripe about but when something is on sale at walmart they should put it in the register as the price it is supposed to be. This happens all of the time and I don't catch it until I get home but I have had enough. Fritos were on sale today for 2.00 a bag and when I got home they were 2.50. I bought 3 bags and I know that is not a lot but it is 1.65 I shouldn't have had to spend. If this had been the first time this had happened I would not have said anything because I know that mistakes happen but at the Walmart in Hugo it is a regular thing. I live 15 miles from there so it is not like I can run back up there to get it straight every time. It would cost me more to drive back up there than it is worth. Hugo Walmart is the worst store I have ever had to deal with. They never even offer to help you put your things back in the cart. They start checking everything as soon as you put one thing on the conveyer belt so therefore you can't check your prices as they are checking. Everything is your responsibility as they stand behind the checking counter. I'm sure that nothing will be done but I will start taking my receipts back even if it is a week later. If there was another stor anywhere remotely close enough, I would never step foot in another Walmart. You can believe me to when I say, that I am not the only one who feels this way. Hugo store sucks badly!

Scott of Concord, MA September 10, 2009

On 9/3/2009 I purchased several items at Walmart in Framingham - including a 12 pack of soda. The shelf price was posted at 2.99 a 12 pack. At the registry I was charged 18.75! I didn't notice the error until I was leaving the store but returned to the cashier who told me he couldn't help because I'd already signed the receipt and directed me to "customer care". There was a line. A waited -- when I finally reached the counter the person behind the counter started a conversation with another employee and ignored me. When I finally got his attention he said that the price of 18.75 for 12 cans of soda was indeed correct and I could take it or return it. I returned it and was given a credit but Massachusetts state law requires merchants to honor their posted prices - and they did not.
