Christine of Eustis FL (07/16/08) my mother is an employee at walmart has had extensive difficulty with management over the past approx 12 yrs she has worked there. the latest is her boss despite giving a 3 week notice refused to let her off for my dad's sugery stating that no employee shall have any more dsys off the remainder of the year because this is what he has chosen. my mother was told she would just have to call in sick and take the consequences-what that is i'm not sure.
walmart claims to be family oriented etc... this is so awful then when i asked who his boss is she stated it doesn't matter it's all a big click and they stand up for each other they would just make it miserable for me. So my mother will not be there for his surgery i hope he makes it i can not find any way to contact management beyond the local store!!!!!
Sylvia of Newbury Park, CA July 1, 2008
Sylvia of Newbury Park CA (07/01/08) I was hired as a cashier and on my first day of training, I was put on a check out stand with only a 15inch scanner. No place for the customers' merchandise. No place for filled bags. The customer handed you one item at a time from their brimming to the top cart and it was necessary for you to quickly quckly quickly scan that item and put in a bag on a carousol. I was in training for 5 hours and there was a minimum of 6 cashiers who worked the register I was on.
They had to hang the scanned and filled bags from their shoulders because if some item contained baby food and the next item was a pesticide, they could not go in the same bag. So bags were hanging from their shoulders, on the floor, wherever. The manager continued to watch for speed. The bags on the carousol continued to fall off or come off in clumps.
This situation caused me depression. I was only there for five hours and I quit, but I do not want this to happen to anybody else. They hired me and wasted my time knowing no person could humanly do what was demonstrated to me.
