Best Buy Price-Matching

Consumer Complaints & Reviews

I recently purchased a new Asus EEPad Tablet (Transformer) at the Best Buy in Martinsburg, West Virginia for $399.99, along with the keyboard that was an additional $150.99 as well. After researching the prices after my purchase, I found that Best Buy was going to have a sale on this particular tablet on Black Friday for $249.99 which is a $150 dollar price difference.

So I called and asked to get a price match or difference and they refused and said it was against policy, yet they tell you they will price match anyone including the difference if a product goes on sale within the time frame of purchase. I buy all my electronics from Best Buy and have spent a ton of money with them. The manager stated he would not honor it nor would he offer any type of customer service satisfaction and was very rude about it.

So I went to hhgregg who is a competitor and they have the same tablet. They said they would honor the $249.99 price match and give me a $100 gift card to earn my business. I was blown away! I called Best Buy to tell them and that if they could not honor this then I would never do business at Best Buy ever again. I have spent over 5,000 dollars in Best Buy over the past 2 months. The manager said, "Oh well, that's an awesome deal, sorry but nothing I will do for you." That was the end of my discussion with the manager. So that said, I think it's indicative of Best Buy's horrible customer service and a reflection of how this company operates. To treat a good and valued customer this way after the I spent my hard-earned money on them is poor business.

I went to a Best Buy store for a price match for an Asus tablet. After waiting for assistance from one of their many lazy workers who never came over to help me after walking pass me time after time, I decided to call for some assistance. I asked the salesperson if they have the Asus Tablet in the store. After the salesperson checked the stockroom, I was told "yes". Easy right? Wrong!

As we proceed to the cash register, I told the salesperson that I had a $100 coupon from Staples on any tablet and would they accept the coupon? They wanted to know if Staples had the product in store before giving me the price match. Upon telling the cashier that I do not know and what difference would it make anyway, she went over to speak to a manager then came back to tell me that I could not use the coupon for the Asus because they would not accept the price match.

Furthermore, I called customer service at 888-237-8289 then gave the same information to the customer service representative about the price match. I told them that my friend also bought the same tablet at a Best Buy in New Jersey. And even though they did not have it in the store, they ordered one for him and accepted the $100 coupon on any tablet or computer. Best Buy customer service rep gave me the "I would have to call the Best Buy you went into to buy the Asus Tablet and call Staples within the 25 radius from the Best Buy". After much frustration, I decided not to shop at Best Buy ever again. Lost customer.

PS: This is the second time that I went into that Best Buy and they would not honor the price match. But I did get PC Richards to match a Best Buy price for a PSP that they did not have in store and PC Richards matched the product with no problem.

Shopped at Best Buy en route home from hospital in NYC with husband. When inquired about high price of phone, was told by two salesman that Best Buy had a 30-day price guarantee policy to match any advertised price with no exceptions given. Turns out that this is only for print ads and cannot be done by phone as they assured us that it could. They won't match new merchandise at Amazon or anywhere online.

Called Kevin the manager who would not make good on his salemen's claims; nor would Mary at the home office called from Best Buy website. I also bought a flat screen TV from Best Buy this year, but won't ever shop there again. They lie about their policies; say anything to make a sale.

This will cost me both time and money to return the two phones but the price difference of $50 for just one of the two phones is too aggravating to ignore. I do not like being tricked and that is what Best Buy did to make this sale!

1. Many times, Best Buy refused matching price by giving me various reasons why they can not match a price... Such as this is not the same item, We don't match prices with Costco or Sam's club.

2. They would even give me a hard time when their web site had a sale but in store they would not honor since their website in store was not displaying the sale. I even once printed the sale from their website and took it to store and checked aginst their store web and the item was not on sale...even though the date from my print out was same day.

3. They sold us a fridge, the ice maker was making ice and would not stop and when opening freezer, the ice would pour out... Later, it started leaking water and the freezer door would not open... We complained and complained and always got the same tech who changed a little part once which did not do anything, then one Saturday was supposed to come and called us around 10:00 a.m. and told me that he was going to call Samsung and would then come by... We never saw him and called the office the next week and were told the case was closed and we could open another one.

I purchased a 46 Samsung TV and LG Blue-Ray player. I followed ads for the next 30 days as accourding to the posted BEST BUY price match guarentee they would match any local retailer. This Best Buy does not. When I found a price lower then what I paid for and brought the ad into the store. both Nick, Customer Service Manager and Dana, General Manager, told me that they would not make any money if they matched EVERY LOWER price that people brought in. I was told they would rather me box up my items and bring them back before they would give me the $275 price match.

The Best Buy policy is that they will match 110% of any competitors prices. I went back into the store to purchase an all-in-one remote. The Winter Garden store had it for $249 and I found a competitor for $179. I had a Best Buy coupon that I also wanted to use. They told me they would prefer me to go to the competitor as they would lose money if they matched the price and I used my coupon.

With my TV purchase I did not receive a discount which accourding to the Best Buy price guarentee should have been honored. I took my businss elsewhere for the all-in-one remote.

Went in to purchase a TV. I had found one at Fry's but wanted to spend my money at Best Buy in the town I live in. Store Manager Chantelle would not match Fry's after it was called and verified and in stock at the Fry's. She said if she sold it to me at that price she would be loosing money because that was cheaper than what they bought it for.

The economic consequence will be the loss of business by me and the people I know.
