AOL - Auto Advantage |

I have been billed for months of internet services, which I have never used. I called on July 7, spoke with a lady named Ipta and explained that I needed services cancelled. She took my information, verified my address, explained that my account would be cancelled, and I would be receiving a refund. I called again on Sept. 24, spoke with RJ, explained this was my second call to cancel, he called up my account, verified my information, asked me to hold, and I was (hopefully) inadvertantly disconnected. Called back. spoke with Mandie, she re-cancelled my account, explained that her computer did not show record of any of my previous calls, and for this reason could not authorize a refund. I have been billed for several months service, and also had been entered in an Auto Advantage account I did not want, costing me over $100. Brenda of Yucaipa CA (10/20/03):
When I spoke with a supervisor, she credited my account with a "prorate" for the time I hadn't used it, she said, even though I had only just been charged for it, had NEVER requested the service, and never used it! This is the second time since I have been an AOL customer that they have strapped me with this damned AOL Auto Advantage scam! I am a Senior and a caregiver for another Senior, my 84-yr old blind mother whom I love dearly, but who suffers when I become confused and irritated. I am on a VERY limited income, caring for mom, and they have taken approximately $300 out of my Visa account now. I really am not very good at knowing what to do when I get "scammed" like this and they seem to be very powerful, very busy, and not very helpful. William of Cape Coral FL (11/11/03):
