Every year, it seems that the print in your phone books gets smaller and smaller. We are at the age where we are unable to read this tiny print and the books are next to useless. Do you provide a large print version for those who are elderly or visually handicapped?
Consumer Complaints & Reviews

That US Yellow has been sending us a bill statement that we have a contract with them. It is not true and they are just sending us bills that we do not have knowledge of and we need this to be resolved as soon as possible. We need help.

Many older people need larger print - both in the listings and on the map pages. A magnifying glass hardly helps. Please, make the next edition of the phone book more user-friendly. Younger people use their cell phones, older people use the phone book. You make it nearly impossible for us.

An Indian man called saying he spoke with my husband yesterday (I know for a fact he didn't) and said he requested to cancel our business listing (we have none and never want one). He said he needed to verify our contact information in order to not charge us $1,500.00! He badgered me! I am so irate. I have never gotten a call this bad before. Something needs to be done about this company.

I first got a phone call in June 2011 saying that I owed an outstanding balance to the Yellow Pages for approximately $300 for a company that I used to work for as their Accounts Payable Department from 2000-2007 and the company has went out of business since then. I told them that I had not worked at that company since 2007 and that I was just their accounts payable contact and that I wouldn't pay the bill that was for a company that I use to work for and that they can just cancel the account. She told me they could not cancel the account until the balance was paid in full. I did not hear from them for a couple months later. I did keep getting calls on my phone and when I try to call the number back, it would never go through.
I finally got a call in Nov 2011 and the person again was calling about an outstanding balance from the company I used to work for. I told him again that I was the accounts payable contact and he told me that he was the collection supervisor and he was going to write off my balance and take me off the call list but I had to verify some information with the quality control department and he told me to say yes to everything they asked me and to not say anything to them about being the accounting payable person and he will write off everything once the phone call is finished. When talking to the quality control lady, I just said yes to everything. She asked name, address, phone number and she told me I owed $599.99 but they are running a special of $100 off if I paid then.
I said, "No. Mail me an invoice because the guys said he was going to write off the balance." I did not ever receive an invoice and no phone call so I thought the guy was legit until today, five months later, I got a call from Yellow Pages collection department again saying I owe them $676 but they will take $499.99. I gave him the whole story and he said I authorized the bill and I owed it. He sent me to his manager and I said the guy told me he would write it off and that I should say yes to all the questions. The manager said I that authorized the payment and then played me my recorded call with quality control. I asked if he had the recorded call from the person that transferred me to quality control that said he was going to write the balance off and he said they don't record those calls.
He said that I authorized an ad for 11/10/11-11/12/12. Why would I authorize an ad or a company that closed its doors in 2007? I thought that I was getting an invoice for the outstanding balance that they said I owed. The manager said we were not calling about an outstanding balance that must have been another company that you are thinking of - no it was this company and that is why they called me in the first place not to sell me an ad for one year for a company I don't work for or doesn't exist. I don't know where else to turn. I do not want to get sent to collections or ruin my credit over this scam.

I continue to get phone calls from the "Yellow Pages" about once per month. The people that called are more and more aggressive each time, with the gentleman I spoke to today saying "I am the supervisor honey, what are ya gonna do, kick me?" when I asked to speak to his supervisor. I asked for a return phone number and the number he gave me was for a "talk line". I would love to report these people to the Sheriff's department but they are pretty slippery.

I recently received the latest edition of AT&T Yellow Pages phone book and am very disappointed with the book. The printing has been reduced in size (perhaps to save money) but causing eye strain and frustration for many customers. I also find unsatisfactory the inclusion of business numbers imbedded in the white pages. I hope my suggestion for improving the AT&T phone book for future editions will be taken into consideration. I have discarded the new book and am using the 2011 edition.

My office manager called me a few minutes ago stating that a lady continued to call her stating she was from Yellow Pages and we owe $500. We have to agree to the billing before they may cancel and my office manager stated, "We have never advertised and you have to speak with one of the owners of the company." They are saying this money was actually due last year. Please put this warning out to others that this is a scam and just hang up the phone.

Sales Representative misrepresented cost of advertising and Yellow Pages billed $8,000 for a small ad. When company was contacted to report the dishonest practice, instead of looking into the matter, Yellow pages sent account to collection agency.

Jason ** called our Stockton store location several times trying to convince our store Manager, Yvette, to approve some yellow page advertising per Steve **, the owner. She refused and told him at least five separate times that she cannot authorize any advertising. Finally, he called her for a sixth time, once again telling her that Steve ** has approved yellow page advertising and he just needed to verify the information. She agreed to be recorded and approved the advertising. We have been billed for $600.00 to pay for bogus advertising. Steve called the company to discuss the bogus advertising and was threatened with legal action. Jason ** is a scam artist and the yellow page advertising is a complain scam.

The company is currently trying to bill me for a service that I didn't request. I did not sign any contract. They are trying to bill me over $500.00. I feel like they are trying to scam me into paying. I've spoken with them, and explained that I never ordered their services, or signed anything for it. They want me to pay for something I didn't want, or request.

I received a very odd call out of the blue from a "Vincent" from the "Yellow Pages Online" on 11/30/2011 stating that I need to cancel a subscription that I signed up for in November of 09. He stated that I signed up for free years service and that I agreed to pay for the second year. It was the end of the two-year agreement and I owed $599. He stated that he was calling to cancel my subscription, so I would not be charged for future service.
When he transferred me to quality control, they wanted me to authorize an invoice of $599 for previous years so that I could continue to cancel my subscription with them. I stated that I am a sole proprietor and I am the only one authorized. I have never signed up for their services in the first place. Therefore, there's no need to cancel. I told them that I would like to see documentation of a contract and requested them to cancel me for whatever they had me signed up for, but they would not until I authorized the $599 invoice with their "quality control department".
Vincent said that they would send me the authorized (by me) contract after I canceled their service. They called me six times trying to get me to "cancel". I told Vincent that I was going to report them to Consumer Affairs and he stated that they would just go ahead and continue to charge me for next year's subscription until I canceled and hung up on me. He called me from 919-301-0759.

I did not sign the agreement to be in the Yellow Pages media. The discussion and conversation in June 2011 was not accepted by me to advertise my business in the Yellow Pages. The next day, I called Yellow Pages to cancel the advertisement. In October and November 2011, I received Bell Bill to pay $89. each month. I do not agree to pay. There was not any customer who gave me order for flowers through Yellow Pages in the two months. Please help me out in this matter as soon as possible.

I received a fax from them. I thought the advertisement was free because it was from yellow pages. On the fax paper agreement where I signed was not that clear.

AT&T was told when they called to set up an appointment, to renew and that I did not want to renew. The salesman then came to my location at the scheduled appointment time and said the deadline had passed to not renew. I was told it would renew automatically even though I had notified him verbally on the phone. Why schedule an appointment then? I feel that the sales reps are not held to very high moral or ethical standards. I am sure they work on commission. Treating a customer of 21 years this way in a time of economic downturn will not earn you any future business under any circumstances or any referrals for new business.

Out of the blue, Yellow Pages Local Directory called our office and said we are in collection for a bill that we do not owe. Never mind a bill we have no knowledge of. We did not order any services from them, nor did we agree to be billed for any services, especially for $562.83! They claimed to have spoken to us, but then never sent us a bill. This is a scam. Beware of Yellow Pages Local Directory.

I received a bill for a past due subscription charges that were never authorized. I was unable to talk to a human being when I called the 877 number. I have left messages, emailed and sent certified letter stating the billing is not valid and to discontinue sending erroneous statements. We continue to get invoices from this company that we have no affiliation with.

I received a fax at my new parish, which I have just taken over, from Yellow Pages. I thought there might be an existing relationship between the parish and Yellow Pages for the need of updated information. As I was in a hurry at the time I returned the fax, I missed reading the fine print at the bottom of the page in real tiny letters.
After three months, I never received any correspondence saying the information was up on the internet and I expected a call to confirm the order. But shortly after three months, I received the bill for $1,188. So I tried to cancel but they are not allowing me to do so. They say I need to pay the full year's fees.
The odd thing is that the company has US offices in Boston but the main office is in Russia. It seems a bit fishy!
The business practices seem unethical and deceptive for Yellow Pages.

We have been receiving calls from Tara at Yellow Page Solutions saying we are late on payment for an online yellow page listing with them. She said that we made one payment in July 2010 of $299.99 and the balance of $495.99 is now past due. The original payment our company made was because we thought this was our local Yellow Page listing. The invoice they sent has the Yellow Page logo which we have learned anyone can use. I asked Tara to send me a copy of a signed agreement and she said Amanda *** (our former office manager) approved over the phone and they did not have anything in writing. Amanda has been promoted and is still with our company so I asked her. She said she did not agree to this listing and had no knowledge of it. I feel like this is a scam and that we were tricked into making the first payment because they use the YP logo. They are not listed with the Yellow Page Association. When I spoke to the Yellow Page Association they said we do not have to pay since they do not have anything in writing. Is this true? The total they are trying to charge us is $795.98 for an online listing their website. We would never agree to this.

No one went over the terms of the contract with me, I feel like I was flim-flamed.

The Yellow Page sales rep came into my salon back in 2008 and sold me a phone book ad and collected a check for the amount. Then in 2009, she returned again and I told her I wasn't interested. She told me the contract I signed in 2008 was for 6 years and she wanted me to give her a check. I said I don't recall signing a contract for 6 years and asked to see where this contract showed 6 years on it. The paper she showed me wasn't clear.
This year I called her office while she stood there waiting to be paid. I told her supervisor the paper she's showing me isn't legible. The supervisor said I indeed signed a 6 year contract. All of my other phone book contracts go year to year. My lease on my building is up next year and my salon was for sale in 2007-2009. I feel like I'm being rail-roaded by these people. I swear I wouldn't have signed anything for six years. I just think it's false but I can't prove it. I've talked to other Yellow Page phone book companies and they said there is no 6 year contract. AT&T said they've never heard of it and to file a complaint.

On 10/22/2010 (Friday night), Yellow Pages dumped tons of their phone books into my business dumpster, which overfilled my dumpster and spilled on the ground on front, back and sides of the dumpster. I have pictures if needed. Not only is this unethical, but also a thief of service which I paid for and Yellow Pages stole from me. If Yellow Pages do not plan on distributing their products, they can at least put them in a recycling bin. I have weekly pick-ups from Republic Waste Services and due to Yellow Pages unethical actions, I have nowhere to put my trash for a week.
I will have to pay Republic Waste Services an additional fee to make a special trip to clear my dumpster. The driver(s) will also not get out of their truck to pick up the surrounding phone books that are on the ground. Therefore, I will have to pick up the phone books that are currently on the ground and any others that fall out of the dumpsters when Republic Waste Services dumps it into their truck. We are not allowed to overfill their dumpster to that extent.

I thought I was talking to the yellow pages for the telephone directory confirming the correct name, address, etc. Now, they are saying I authorized this purchase. I have since asked them for a copy of contract and proof of ad (which I never saw). They told me there is no contract under $500.00. The invoice is for $479.95.

I wanted to advertise in the Marietta phone book, which did not publish until the following June, but it is the north section of Atlanta that I service. She took down all my info and tried to sell me space in another directory that published sooner, in south Atlanta. I said no, that I don't travel that far to work, so I have no need of advertising there. I was told I would receive a copy of the contract by mail and that I would receive a proof of the ad to approve before it went to publish.
When I did not receive a copy of the contract some months later, I began to call. I left several messages and emails with no response from the sales lady. Fearing that my advertising might be overlooked, I found her supervisor and left a message to be contacted and later I was. She said she was sorry and would email me a copy right now, and she sent a 4 page email with a cover sheet with my signature and 3 other pages of the terms of the contract. The email she sent did not show anywhere what the ad would say, or where it would be placed, but not knowing the difference I thought I had received the full contract and was satisfied.
The following January I began receiving heavy call traffic from customers all in the extreme south Atlanta and points south. Knowing I have no advertising in place there, I began to ask people how the heard about me, and they said the yellow pages. Investigating, I found my ad which was supposed to be in a north Atlanta book was instead in a south Atlanta book, which is up to 90 miles outside of my service area!
I called to complain and was told it would be turned over to a department for review and not to worry about it. Here's where it gets real messed up. Mrs.** hid the fact that she shoved me into a book I didn't want so she could claim that extra commission (extra x-mas money, you see) and she deceived me by sending me only a partial copy of the contract that did not flag me to the fact I was being placed in a book I didn't want.
The stink is, AT&T has a signed contract placing me in that book, and they are sticking me to the tune of about $700 for calls I never wanted. Plus, I did not get to advertise in the book I wanted, so I have blown my advertising for 2 years minimum. Mrs. ** **** me big time, took her commission, and left me holding a bag of **! And AT&T backs their employees, even then they **** someone!

We are called several times a day from what seems to be an overseas call center to solicit an advertisement sale. I have repeatedly asked them to take our number off their list as we are uninterested. They have yet to respect our wishes after several months.

They contacted us in February, stating every new business are required to be in the Yellow Pages. Therefore, charging initially a fee of $298.00. Now, they sent another bill stating there are semi-annual fees seeking another $298.00. Not knowing our rights, we have now paid $600.00 to the "Yellow Pages Directories". Same logo as the States Attorney suit in Texas.

Through Chase Bank I Reward Points, I earned a free magazine subscription. The order was placed on March 5, 2010 and I was told it would be 6-12 weeks before I received my first issue. Well, it has almost seven months and no issue. I have tried to contact Magazine Yellow Pages for the last seven days (2x everyday), but it only seems to be an exercise in wasting my time.
All I do is leave a message and wait for nobody to call be back. I have also sent two emails with the same luck as calling. On their website, it proudly states they will contact you within 24 hours. What a joke. It seems you can put anything on your website and not back it up. This company has the worst customer service and service I have ever seen. I am amazed Chase Bank allows such a company to represent themselves. Beware, never associate with Magazine Yellow Pages!

I signed up for the yellow pages for 1 year (Early 2009). I was told by the agent that the yellow page ad would not auto renew without making contact with me as I had to approve the ad. They claim that they sent me a letter, (I never received any such letter) regarding the ad renewal. The add jumped in monthly cost from approximately $14 to approximately $140, this was due to no discounts and default pricing. A claim was filed some where about 4-6 weeks ago. A Mr. Kevin M. at 1 800- ext xxx responded to me (08/17/10) and I was informed that since I did not respond to that letter sent in January 2010 the contract auto renewed and while he and his company AT&T are sorry for the inconvenience the best that he is able to do, is to give me the standard rate increase which makes it about $17.
When I expressed my dissatisfaction and asked for a manager he told me that I could not speak to a manager. He further informed me that he had the final decision and I had to either take the deal or reject it. He said that he would notate the record and request a manager call back. He has faxed me an acceptance letter for me to sign under direst. I am under direst because I will have to give up my phone number 954-xxx-xxxx (26 years old) and pay the outstanding charges to end this, or pay the reduced amount for an ad that gave me no business last year. The acceptance letter also gives me no further rights to dispute, and any changes to the letter voids the offer.
To add further insult to the situation, I must send a letter requesting that the add does not renew as there is no other way to cancel the add. They will however send a new letter around January 2011 and if I don't respond to that letter (which I may also not receive) they cannot say what will happen. It is my believe that this conduct from AT&T should not be allowed. The idea that they can claim to have tried to contact me with a single peace of mail and no proof of delivery, and therefore I must either surrender my phone number of 26 year (all my customers and vendors have this number) with no message leading callers to our new number or pay whatever they choose to charge is simply not fair business practice.
I do not want this ad and I am not happy about the compromise under direst.I must respond to this letter promptly or Mr. M may choose to revoke the offer. For this reason I am asking for an urgent response. we rely on repeat business which is dependent on phone calls from previous clients. Some clients only call once every 5 years or so. And in the event that I have to change my phone number it would be an impossible task to make sure that all of our previous clients could get the updated phone number.

This company calls our home 3 to 4 times a day. I have told them we don't have a yellow page ad and to please take us off their phone list, but they still keep calling at all hours night and day! Their phone is : 585-352-9992. I want the phone calls to stop!

I was sold an advertising package for $1731.00 a month that would guarantee me 10 phone leads a month. Since I am a Concrete Contractor, I was puzzled about how this was going to happen in winter. Well, it never happened of course, lie after lie after lie. I have paid this company thousands of dollars for empty promises. This company has held me to the contract even though they don't hold up their end. Run away if you are even considering advertising with this company!

I have been trying to cancel my advertising account with them since 2006. I have jumped through every hoop they have asked. I have sent them letters, called, asked nicely, yelled. And I am still being billed for a service that should have been stopped four years ago. I did pay them for 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009. I get no business from their ad and I cannot afford to pay them anymore.

Corrine ** contacted me on or about January 15, 2009. She promised all kinds of benefits I would receive by signing up for the Yellow Pages internet listing. The main promise was that I would be getting more phone calls from potential clients and would make much more than I would build my business as soon as my ad went live. The cost for this wonderful product would be $342.00 per month for 12 months. After seven months, I only receive one phone call. I tried to contact Corrine with no success. Corrine never returned any calls, and I left several messages.
I finally contacted the customer service number on my bill on October 9, 2009 and spoke with Debbie (?) (They do not have last names.) Debbie advised that I could not cancel for any reason. Debbie told me to call Dee. I called and explained my situation again to her that due to the fact the internet ad did not live up to the promises made to me, I simply could no longer pay for this service, "If anyone could call this service." Over $3,000.00 spent for one phone call?
After several calls, I was finally able to speak with Ken ** (ATTPBD). He advised me not to pay, and after three months, they would simply remove my ad from the internet and there would be no further billing. He also offered to try to get me a toll-free number to boost my client response. After a couple of weeks, I was told that the toll-free number was not available nor was a local number for the Dallas, TX area (my target client area). Ken sent me an e-mail confirming this conversation.
Needless to say, my stop payment only resulted in me receiving threats of lawsuits and collection from AT&T Yellow Pages. I am making small payments, because I simply do not want my credit damaged any further. The cost of this non-performing advertisement left me $4,000.00 in the hole last year. Had I received only a small percentage of the clients they promised, I would not be financially unable to pay my debts.

I cancelled my Yellow Pad in writing and sent it back to them. They lost it and now they are sending a collections agency after me. They will damage my credit and my reputation and they will get an exorbitant for something I did not do. I cancelled and it is not fair.

AT&T dropped the white-residential listings from the phone book this year. So now a person has to call to get a residential book delivered or have to pick it up themselves. You can also get a CD or use a computer to look up phone numbers. I have no problem with them doing this; however, they did not represent this to the people buying advertising with yellow page ads. I first became aware of this change in February when the books were being delivered to the general public.
My salesman's claim that he was unaware of this change was confirmed by an AT&T rep I called when lodging a complaint. She said this decision was made in December. I am sure they knew they were going to do this well before then. AT&T knew this decision was going affect advertising revenue so they simply chose to keep us in the dark about the upcoming change. This to me seems fraudulent and stinks of "Bait and Switch". I have informed my salesman and AT&T that i will give this a little more time to play out but if things don't change dramatically very soon, I will not pay for this ad.

We spoke to Paul M of AT&T Yellow Pages in July of 2009. He told us that we should first sign up for AT&T Internet advertising beginning September 1, 2009 to see how it went. He assured us that we would get at least 30 hits per week and failing, that we could cancel the internet advertising in a "heartbeat".
After two months of zero calls, we contacted AT&T to cancel the internet advertising. To our horror, we discovered that, not only are we unable to cancel the internet advertising, but that we are locked into to contract for 16 months! What a shame that a magnificent company like AT&T is reduced to this petty bait-and-switch tactics of misrepresenting the truth about its services and then using its might to go after a small business.
We are paying $215.00 per month for zero calls from AT&T Internet advertising. As of March 1, we have paid AT&T $1,500. We are struggling to pay our mortgage and health insurance, we have no work and AT&T refuses to cancel our contract threatening to go after our credit if we refuse to pay them. We have told AT&T that we are out of work and they refuse to listen to us.

I have tried to stop this several times, even faxed a note to discontinue service. They continue to call. I stated I am not paying any more. Annoying.

They call multiple times a day to "update our business listing." They claim that there are different Yellow Pages versions, and so far I've documented online YP, direct YP, business YP, etc. I have already updated it, and when I ask them to remove us from the list, they refuse. Also, they refuse to go through the update process efficiently, as most of them don't speak English or know what they're doing. I'm filing this complaint so that Yellow Pages knows that they cannot keep harassing businesses like this. This is a massive waste of time and productivity.

I did not authorize this transaction with the US Yellow Page Directory. It is important you know that when Jeremy answered the phone they started off by saying " do you remember when..." " i have already talked to you" It was a lie. They had no prior relationship. When I spoke to Jeremy about the call he said to me that ---she just started to rattle off our business information and told me she was from the yellow pages. There were people in the store, we were real busy that day--
He understood that he was giving information to the local Yellow Page Book.
Had I known he agreed to the 479 dollar terms I would have dealt with this the second I received any information regarding the price or service as I would have never agreed to this ( as sole proprietor). I wrote in my previous email that it took months for any type of information to reach me.Also, the website does not work. I tried to contact them when I received my paperwork and the site dose not pull up. I tried to tell the one person I was able to contact about this and she said to basically get a new computer. I told her that I was the owner and there is some confusion and she said "so"
I told her not only did you take advantage of my company you don't even offer the service you are claiming...she said " i've gotta go and to please call her back if I had more questions." I also asked her to produce a tape confirming her previous relationship to our company, as was stated on the phone-- she said nothing.

I keep getting a bill for $479.95 cents for a service I did not authorize as the owner of this company. The paper said it was for a listing online. I do not need or want a listing. I have dealt with this the first year in business and as far as I'm concerned it's a scam. I have called numerous times and have not gotten but one phone call back.
They are claiming now, that if I do not pay they will send it to a collection agency. The letters are signed by Janet J. with whom I spoke one time and she says we talked on the the 17th of November-- which is when i left one of my many messages NOT talked to anybody. The invoice is # 9050600
Jeremy S. authorized this and told me "hey I got us in the yellow pages" He understood this to be a simple transaction where when we flip through the pages of our home town book --there we will be. I am the sole proprietor and the only one to authorize ANYTHING. I have the recording and Jeremy sounds totally taken off guard and agreeable.
I did not receive any paperwork until recently. I absolutely would of taken care of this much much earlier had i know Jeremy agreed to a 479 dollar bill. It is absolutely absurd to me that they would send letters and threaten collections if I do not pay them for a service i did not agree to.

Product Quality is non-existant. Their slight inuendo, allusions of performance never live up to reality. Don't believe anything they say. They make up stories about other's performance. You will not comprehend their contract. When they record your confirmation they will not be understandable. Their words mean something else, not what you think. But never mind this. All that matters is that you will not get referrals through their Internet Yellow pages. The Internet requires special skills to get referrals and this products has nothing to do with driving traffic to your business. They take advantage of desparate business people trying to get business. They know you will try anything. If you want business then you need improve your SEO, backlinks, articles, etc. This advertising medium is a complete loss of revenue for 12-15 months. Please do not be taken in by your desparation as many have been (incl. me). Keep your money and invest in your internet marketing knowledge. Run away as fast as you can.

I received a phone call from usyellowpagedirect.com stating that we owe them $479.95 for a twelve month level 2 listing on "USYellowPageDirector.com". First of all, I did not receive a bill/invoice from them and secondly, no one at the office authorized the listing. Our temp receptionist spoke with a representative from USYellowPageDirector.com and appeared to have authorized the listing. She is not authorized to incur any charges and there was no follow up since that phone call.
Immediately after finding out about the listing, we requested for it to be removed because no authorized personnel approved of the listing. Our company does not need to be listed on USYellowPageDirector.com. Also, there was no signed documents authorizing the listing. The UPS delivery man could have picked up the phone when the USYellowPageDirector.com representative called and pretended to authorize the listing.
We spent many hours dealing with Alex S., and she would not allow us to speak to her supervisor or manager. We should not have to pay for the listing we did not authorize. USYellowPageDirector.com claims we owe them $479.95.

For about the last 15 years, my renewal of my Yellow Pages has involved their calling for a time to meet with me, a meeting to discuss changes in the ads, agreeing on changes if any, their e-mailing or faxing a copy of the agreement, my signing and dating the agreement and mailing back to them.
This year I decided not to do any more Yellow page advertising. They are saying I should have gotten a notice in July, and that if I wanted to cancel, I had to put that on the notice and return it to them. If I did not return the document, then I was "automatically" renewing. I did not get the notice they say they mailed, nor any confirmation from them that I renewed, nor a "thank you' letter that I had renewed, nothing. Nor has anyone at Yellow Pages said anything to, or given me any notice about this new practice.
I seems they have developed a preditory practice to renew advertising to get around the basics of honest business, a signed yearly agreement for advertising.

My son signed up for an advertising campaign with yellow pages for his business. The sales girl sold him a package that included ads in the telephone book that he did not really want, but promised him a free website and guranteed first page on google for all his ads. The website took over 3 months to build, as they are built by an outside contractor in Atlanta Georgia, and are gauranteed clicks on google never came. They said we needed to metatags, What is a metatag? They gace us customer service phone numbers after numerous calls nothing got done. We are not computer experts nor pretend to be. We stapped paying after 4 months since nothing got done and still does not work. We have complained over and over again. The are threatening to sue for over $25,000.00 for this service. and have put us on collections. We cannot afford to pay them and feel we were ripped off as the sales people did not even know what they were selling. We have not recieved one call!

They placed two ads for 2009 without my authorization and without a contract signed. I have all my notes with dates and names.
I completely agree with John of Orlando, FL June 2, 2009 regarding filing or joining a class action against this company.
It is difficult for small businesses to get anywhere with a complaint; that is why we must get together and fight this company. Their methods of doing business are wrong, unfair and fraudulent.

In the year 2000, my name was listed under the telephone number of a competitor in town. I called AT&T to tell them about their mistake. They appologised. In 2001, they made the same mistake. I called again. The following 7 years I was not even listed under their free directory. In November 2008, I was contacted by AT&T to advertise my buisness with them. I refused because of the very bad previous experience with them. However, the sales person called almost every day and came to the office as well.
She appeared honnest and nice and I told her that I am moving locations and still have no knowledge of my new address. She insisted that I still should advertise with my name only, no need of an address. I finally agreed and accepted her offer. I was shocked not to find the large, color advertisement in the book and I called to ask what happenned. I was refered to a page number and recognised my add, but my name was not there. So, I was billed for an add WITHOUT a name and WITHOUT an address. I refused to pay for that add. I was told that I had agreed to it. In fact, I was e-mailed an add that clearly shows my name very clearly and I aggreed to that add, but it was not the one that was published.
In addition to the loss of clients due to the poor add, I am billed for about one thousand dollars and have problems keeping my phone lines at work because the AT&T advertisement is linked to my phone bill. I filed a complaint with BBB and this was not resolved because they keep on saying that I agreed to their add and refuse to even look in the yellow pages and see that my name and address are not there: what add is this if clients don't know who this is and where this is...

We have been advertising with AT&T Yellow Pages for many years. It is a relatively small ad, but nonetheless, we have been supporting the yellow pages for a long time. We have always approved our continued ad through the means of signing a contract each year. In 2008, out of the blue, we received a bill for advertising. We had not received a notice from AT&T prior to this. We immediately called our salesperson to find out how they could possibly decide on our behalf to continue our advertising without our consent. We were told that we had been switched to an auto-renew contract. We had received no such notice. We were very upset with this process.
The sales person was very apologetic and assured us this wouldn't happen again. We reluctantly agreed to pay the 2008 advertising bill with the understanding that future advertising would be done the old fashioned way, through a signed contract. Year 2009 came, and we received a notice that our advertising would again be run automatically unless they heard from us by a particular date. We immediately called and left a message for the same salesperson, leaving a detailed voicemail reminding him of our previous year's conversation. In the voice mail, we asked him to let us know if we needed to do anything else. We received no further communication until we received the bill for our automatically renewed advertising. We called again and asked why this happened.
The woman explained that there was something written on the original notice that explained you could only cancel auto-renew by sending a registered letter. This must have been in the fine print, because I only saw in bold print a phone number to call if you we had an issue. I am told we are legally responsible for this bill. This practice of auto-renew without signed authorization is unethical. They do not send their notifications via registered mail. There is no guarantee the consumer even receives the notice - we received nothing in 2008. I don't understand how this practice is legal. Please help.

I took an ad out with these people April of 2008 and paid cash upfront. The book was supposed to come out June 2008. It's now 2009 and no phonebook. I requested my money back and they said they could not give me my money back. I now have no advertising and I lost my money. I spent hours and hours fooling with a company that had no intention of living up to their contract. I call this an act of fraud.

Because of their deceptive sales and billing practices, it is difficult for a small business to get anywhere with a complaint. Attorney fees, they also are aware of, are out of reach for most small business owners. I was hoping to find information on how to join or contact any on going class action related to this company. I did not authorize, approved or asked for any services related to their billing process. Their methods of acquiring authorization is wrong, unfair and may be fraud. Ruined credit and chances of business growth, constant hassle and annoying collection notices and calls.

Bait and switch, I met in person with Natalie Klawiter the account manager with yellowpages.com. Natalie presented a mini lap top and provided me with a 2,500.00 contract, she introduced a 6,000.00 plus quote to which I was very uneasy with however, Natalie explained the nationwide campaign would work better for my business. She encouraged me with services I was not secure about obtaining. Account manager, Natalie had me sign, a e-contract and never presented me with a complete contract for my viewing, she complained about her PC not working properly and she would get me what I needed.
Needless to say, I found myself with this enormous bill, incomplete internet listing which did not measure to quality I was told would be given. She listed business in a unrelated field, all calls that came in were for persons looking for a dermatologist and not looking to purchase skin care product. In all, I'm currently faced with a 12 month contract for services I did not agree to, and yellowpages.com has failed to make any changes 1. To the ad listing 2. For the over charge to my account 3. Broken Lines of Communication for services to cancel or continue.
I have been a loyal customer to yellowpages.com with a separate business for more than 3 years up until this point. I've been violated by the misrepresentation and dishonesty of this company, and since I've had to cancel any charges paid to yellowpages.com on my American Express Credit Card.
Financial Hardship

One of my employees received a phone call from the Yellow Pages. They asked specific questions regarding current address, phone number etc. She advised the info they had was correct but she was not authorized to make any advertising decisions. We later received a bill for renewal and have had ALOT of phone calls requesting payment. They have been rude and obnoxious.
Harassing phone calls and threats of being sued. I was contacted by a Mr. J.Brown from EB (?) with a case # and return phone #. He said he was from the legal department representing the Yellow Pages.

I received a mailer from US-Yellow pages back in March of 2006. It stated that they would update my listing in their directory, all I needed to do was sign the mailer and send it back. No where did it say I would be obligated to pay for this listing. Following that I started receiving invoices from them every so often and I would simply throw them away.
I never ordered their service, they contacted me and I assumed if I didn't pay the invoice they would just take me off their directory and that would be the end. However, I opened a letter from them today and it was an invoice for $1,782. On the back of the invoice is a copy of my signature. When I saw my signature I realized something was wrong. This company is a bunch of scam artists.
Stating that I owe them $1782.00 for listing my business name for the past 3 years. I never ordered this service. I only authorized them to list my name in their free directory.

In the 2009 AT&T Yellow Pages, the phone number for OLIVE GARDEN RESTAURANT - Warren, Michigan is listed as my parent's phone number. The incorrect number appears in the AT&T The Real Yellow Pages - East Area, February 2009. Since the phone books have been distributed, my parents have logged over 100 phone calls to their home for Olive Garden.
My father is ill, and both my parents are in their 80s. They should not be inconvenienced with 8 to 10 phone calls a day asking for Olive Garden. Do not know who is to blame for incorrect phone number, either Olive Garden or AT&T Yellow Pages. WOULD like something to be done to rectify this error.

I received a call from Revenue Assurance Partners in Louisana, a collection agency (nasty at that) and they say I owe $298.00 for yellow page advertising. I said no, I pay it monthly and they said no this is the internet site. I had sent in a check to them in 2007 and I went back to see and low and behold I had. I save everything so I found the invoice. I had paid this because it looks just like the real invoice so my assistant at the time assumed it was it.
So I call them back and say no I made a mistake in 2007 I don't want it. They said I have a contract for 3 years. Now talk about deceptive practice, I happen to talk to the neighbor in our complex and she just happend to have a copy of their solicitation letter. It looks just like the bill and no where on the envelope does it say Solicatation only inside and it says Annual Internet Yellow Page USA listing for 2008-2009 directory. Total 12 months.
OK my 12 month in 2007 were up and I paid. Now turn the paper over and it says You may cancel this 3 year contract without any penalty or obligation within 3 years and receive a full refund if you have a doctor's order you cannot physically receive the service. Do you believe that. You can cancel if you have a doctor's note. Boy if this isn't a scam I don't know what is.
Don't know yet if my credit have been violated, we'll see, but these nasty collection people need to stop calling because I am not going to pay this bogas bill.

On July 10, 2008 I was contacted by phone to advertise my business online with SuperPages.com. I was told paperwork would come by mail for me to review and if necessary I could cancel. On July 23, 2008 I received the paperwork. On August 8 I called to cancel, but was told it has to be done in writing within 14 days from the date of application. The date of application was July 10 and I received the approval paperwork on July 23.
I cancelled in writing by fax as requested on August 8, 2008 within 14 days of receipt of the paperwork. On August 20, 2008 I received a phone message from an employee named Norman at 800-555-4833 ext 4858. He stated he was in receipt of my cancellation and needed my account number to close the account. I returned his call and provided the number. I assumed the account had been closed. On October 9, 2008 I received a letter from ER Solutions, a collections company stating my account was past due $527.58.
I called and told them what happened they said they would mark the file under dispute. Then on November 14 I received another letter from the same agency saying I now owed &707.42 and it was still under dispute. On January 31, 2009 I received a letter from a different collections company Pinnacle Financial Group stating the amount is $1261.46. I cancelled in writing. I received acknowledgment by phone that the account would be closed.

We had bad dealings with this company in the past and contacted the BBB about them over a year ago. They were supposed to cancel our account and no longer contact us. All this is in the BBB records. Out of the blue they call saying that we owe a bill. I told them that they weren't supposed to be calling anymore and that we owe nothing. Now I get a statement in the mail saying that we owe $494.63.
It seems they did not cancel the account like they agreed apon and they are still calling here. My mother will be 80 years old this year and she has no interest in an internet yellow pages listing. This so-called account is under her name Violet Young, same address and phone number. I am writing this complaint on her behalf.
They are wanting payment for a bill that we do not owe.

While on Marine Corps Recruiting duty in Charlotte, NC, I requested the services of the Yellow Pages to place an add for the Marines. I signed with the understanding that the add would be run for a period of 1 year, and that they would use the design that I provided for the ad this was on Feb 9, 2005.
When they ran the ad using a different design I contacted the sales rep and made it clear that I would not be held liable for payment for a product that I did not request. The sales rep agreed and I was assured at that time that it would be taken care of. I left recruiting duty May 23, 2006. I spent all of 2007 in Iraq, and all of 2008 in Afghanistan. Upon returning to the United States I reported to my new duty station in Virginia and received a bill from the Yellow Pages for the amount of $1,782.00. They have continued to run the ad that I did not request for 4 years.
I have a bill of $1,782.00 which may affect my credit.

I was contacted on 2/5/08 by AT&T Salesman Alan offering a free trial of AT&T advertising services for my new business. He told me that I had over 5 weeks before anything went live to cancel the advertising with no cost to me. I received the ad print on 2/12/08 and did not like the advertising or the contract. I decided to cancel and wrote a letter to AT&T with notification to cancel all services dated 2/18/08.
A few days later Alan left me several voice mail messages saying that he was sorry for my cancellation and to call him if there was anything he could do to keep me as a customer. I answered the phone after about 10 calls from him and told him I was not interested and that my letter stated that point. Two months later I start receiving billing statements from AT&T and I have called them several times to explain, but they do not listen. Now they are bothering me daily via telephone.
They are using up my cellular phone minutes and bothering me throughout the day while I am trying to get work done. This is very frustrating and dishonest of AT&T to try to pull this on me. I want to resolve this issue before it goes to collections.

A sales representative called our retirement community and asked our assistant to confirm our address and phone number. They then asked for her name. A week later, we received an invoice for $494.40 for internet advertising. We have never advertised with this organization nor would we ever. When I called American Online to clear up this business matter, I was spoken to rudely and was told that they had verbal authorization from our assistant.
I stated that she never authorized this nor did she have the authority to do so. I asked to meet with someone and I was refused. I was told that they would gladly speak to our attorney. They would not give me their attorney information. I ended the call abruptly by stating that we would NOT pay for this unauthorized service and that I would be filing a complaint.

I was called and asked to update my yellow pages ad. I did and they offered a service for $29.95 a month which they say I confirmed, and never did. I know through my phone bill have a charge. Thankfully my phone provider credited me, so these people who admittedly say they are tricking people to sign up will never get anyone else s money.
They charge $29.95 to your regular monthly phone bill

When I started a new business in 2005 I received what I thought was a confirmation of my local yellow pages. I signed the back and returned it. Within a few months I started receiving bills for $297.I realized it was for a service I would never see as the bill comes from NJ-- it says charges for previously PUBLISHED editions. I went out of business within the year, but they are now sending bills to my home. It is up to $1782 which I cannot pay. The phone number is not even in service.
I am worried that they will come after me for the money and I cannot pay this and have no intention of paying it. I want the bills to stop.

We have been Advertising in the Yellow Pages for several years. Every year up to 2005/2006 we have gotten a phone call from Verizon to verify/make changes to our order. Since then the Add has appeared in the yellow pages, which we have paid reluctantly. I believe we spoke to them last year, told them this was the last year and that I did not want and did not sign up for the automatic renewal. And this year I called them on 6/17/08 at 1:35PM and told them we did not want to pay for the advertising.
The person I spoke to said they would take care of it, because no one authorized the order, it was an automatic renewal. This account has now gone into collections. I called today, spoke to Rosemary and was told it was too late and would have to pay the invoice. (I guess the cutoff this year is in April). When I told her I did not authorize the order, she just laughed and said we automatically renewed last year. The bottom line is they should be calling each year, like they have in the past to verify renewal and to see if there are any changes that need to be made. (Example: My address changed).

I currently have several listings in the Paradise Yellow pages, on Maui, Kauai, & Big Island. A rude account representative (Aaron) came to my office on Maui late to our appointment, to renew my listings for next year at an 8% increase. I told him we can not afford an increase, please renew at the same rates or write a new contract with our listing dollar amounts for each and I would select the listings that would be must important to my business and I would send my payment. He left in a huff without doing anything I asked, no contract with or without an increase was left.
So as it is now, I can only assume we won't be included in [their] directory, as he has taken it upon himself to not allow me to renew my contract without accepting the increase. I contacted the main office and asked for a manager regarding the representative and this matter, I was directed to a Glenn. I spoke with [him], described the situation 2 weeks ago, he said I had until the end of the month to renew my listings, as of today I have not been contacted by anyone, and no contract has been sent to me to continue any of my listings.
Forced rate increase without ability to modify the annual contract, or will be exculed from the yellow pages.

I was approached by a sales representative of yellowpages.com. He sold me a year listing with the product code PLL. The representative told me that the product coded PLL was an internet tile, which included the tile listing, work creating and maintaining the logo, a website, and website optimization service. The representative could not provide me with a written description of the product, but reassured me that those were the services he would provide, and I would be happy with the outcome. I signed a contract for $274/month.
When the listing was placed, the phone number was incorrect, and the tile did not include the name of the service, window washing, that my business offered. I called the representative and asked him to correct the phone number and put window washing on the tile.
After 2 weeks, and several follow-up phone calls from me, the phone number was corrected but window washing was still not added. When I noticed that window washing was still missing, I called and asked him to make sure it was added, and I asked him about progress on my website. He said he was too busy to make the website right now and he would put another request in to fix the tile.
By this time, 5 weeks had passed since I made the first payment of $274. This meant that I was paying $9 a day for a product that didn't tell a potential customer what my company offered. 6 weeks after the start of the contract, the tile was still not corrected to show window washing. I called the representative and submitted a new logo, and asked again that the tile show window washing.
Now it has been 8 weeks since the start of the contract, and I have been billed a second payment. The tile still doesn't show what sort of a service is offered by my company, my new logo has not been placed on the tile, and I still don't have a website.
The damage is $548 for a product that I am not receiving.

My wife and I started a new company here in Redding California somehow this Company ~ Yellow Pages (US - YELLOW) has my signiture, (it almost looks like a Copy/paste type situation from some other document I might have signed or? I haven't any idea where or when but I do know I never agreed to #1 advertize with this company nor would I .. right now my wife and I are advertizing with Valley Yellow Pages a local book
I called the lady we actually organized our ad in the Valley Book and she said that these Insects have methods less than straight and Narrow and have actually had people pay them and even turned them into collections well anyone can turn you into collections shoot I can start my own collection dept.
Just a few more grey hairs I don't need

Received bill from Yellow Pages which I paid in the amount of $284. Thought they were affiliated with Yellow Book which has the same logo. Filed report with Better Business Bureau who was not able to obtain my refund. Add my name to the list of those scammed. Keep getting billed from these yahoos. Received another one today. Sure would like my money back plus damages!

My business agreed to a free trial period for Verizon Print Directories. I called the sales representative and cancelled during the trial period. He assured me he would take care of it. Later to find out that I was cancelled for that plan, but was put on a different plan.
Now I have a bill balance of 729.00 after repeatedly trying to contact the companys representative leaving numerous voice messages for him and his superviser. Now I'm getting Letters from their attorneys and collections department stating that they are trying to contact me wish is not true.

I am being charged for unauthorized services, similar to the article published on 11/09/07.
Unauthorized charges to credit card account.

Yellow Pages, Verizon, AT&T, Idearc... they all allow businesses with fraudulent listings to infiltrate their print and internet advertising.
Case in point... Locksmiths.
The local Locks & Locksmiths heading is more than 50% filled with fake locksmiths. These are companies that have not registered a business name with the state (Fictitious Name) and continually defraud the public with high charges, unnecessary fees, and intimidation tactics.
Yellow Pages, etc know that these are unverified companies, yet they continue to list these businesses because it is money after all.
For more info on fake locksmiths, go to http://www.pricelinelocksmith.com
Loss of sales. These fake locksmiths are taking money from legitimate businesses. The average consumer is spending way more money than they should on a simple job. Yellow Pages etc also allow businesses to list company names in the 411 directory without proof of registration... so an established business with the name ABC Lock & Key will have all work taken from him and his reputation tarnished when a fly-by-night scammer comes into town and decides to register ABC Locksmith, even if the name has not been registered with the State.
There has been talk among the locksmith community about filing a class action against the directory publishers for knowingly publishing fake listings.

Complaint Description: 1. advertising mistakes, a/c Ecnomical halpf page ad on page 21 2. no ad proof given on Fasco ad printed in Verizon yellow pages 3. Internet campaign handeled poorly by representative 4. called about advertising in broward county, representative ignored calls, calls to supervisor Roslyn were also ignored 5. when attempting to contact Idearc media about a problem they keep giving me the run around,

Our business had a problem with are Idearc yellow pages ad. Our sideline read my full name instead of our company name. When trying to get it resolved we were given the run around and the representative wasn't taking care of it in a timely manner. We even talked to her supervisor and he was not any help. My husband and I were going to advertise another year but after being stood up on appointments and last years problem wasn't being rectiffied we decided to cancel all our advertisement.
When it came to paying off the amount owed I left a message with the district manager to there office and explained on his voicemail what was going on and that I felt we were mispresented on last years ad and if someone looked on the sideline and saw a personal name instead of a business name that would think that our company was not legitamet. I told him that I didn't mind paying for part of my ad but not all of it. We have noticed a drop in calls for our business and it has to do with the flaw with the ad.
I never recieved a phone call back from him and now I am disputing the rest of the charges. Why do bigger company's try to do this to smaller companies?? My feeling is that they know we won't go after them so they give the little people no respect, not even a phone call.
