It's been said that canceling AOL is harder than eradicating the common cold. It seems that AOL wants to be your Internet-service-for-life.

Phillip of Oakland MS (02/24/06)
I noticed AOL billing on my account last month and contacted them to have it removed. This month again the charge is there but this time I am told I have to go to the Fraud dept because I claim I did not set up the account.

I have made 3 calls again and each time I am either refered to some one or told I have to call the Fraud Dept - but when I called I was told by a recording the Fraud dept is closed and to call back durring business hours.

I have called the AOL phone number to complain about this practice and have been told it is out of their hands or are unable to help me, If this was such an real issue for AOL they should have some one on the clock at all hours. I have had two months billed to my, 23.9 and I am not even able to stop this!

Angela of Massillon OH (02/16/06)
I called and cancelled several times with serveral differrant cancellation numbers and they still kept ebting my account after 30 days or 60days or 90 days of being cancelled they would reathourized the billing they my debit card on their own. I have paid unbelievable amount of over charges because of this.

Nidhi of San Francisco, CA February 6, 2006

Nidhi of San Francisco CA (02/06/06)
I have been trying to cancel my AOL internet account since early 2003, finally in dec 2005 on my request they sent me an official letter confirming cancellation of my account, yet they continue to bill my credit card account. I know AOL has settled with the NY and Ohio state attorney General's office and has agreed to pay 4 months of subscription. Four months is nothing compared to 3 years of being billed. I just want to get my credit card information out of their hands. How long will they be allowed to continue this scam?
