6 Months "Interest-Free" Class Action

Keivan of Oakland, CA January 24, 2006

I ordered kitchen cabinets from Home Depot in January 2005. The cabinet department came to my home and measured the kitchen to ensure that the order would be correct. When the order arrived, all components where there. We demolished the old kitchen and started installing the new cabinets. It turned out that the rep. has mismeasured one base cabinet and therefore I could not complete the kitchen project.

When I contacted Home Depot they said I had to bring the wrong cabinet back to them before they could re-order it and it would take 6-8 weeks for a new one to arrive. I refused to bring it back and the rep. threatened to come to my house and take it away, I told her to go ahead; but she never did.

I contacted their store manager and district manager and neither would return my calls. My wife had a contact at their corporate office and sent a letter to the president. He never replied either. Meanwhile, the corporate office was telling us that we should have been compensated for meals and the installation of a temporary sink; we received neither.

2 months later the kitchen was finally complete. I will never purchase cabinets from Home Depot. Lowe's has all of my business now.

M. of New York, ND January 16, 2006

I bought a kitchen in 1994 on a 12 month promo. 6 months later had to get them to stop charging me late fees on a balance that wasn't due for another 6 months!

When the remainder of my original order was installed i asked numerous people for a detailed invoice so I could see what I was being billed for. To this day I don't have one. I have, however, been charged for a number of things I didn't ask for.

There was no dispute over the appliances and paid that portion of the bill as it was due (but not before I had to get a rep at Citi to remove late fees they'ed started charging me before the bill came due.)

In all this time I have been unable to see what they charged me for and receive a credit for their mistakes. I have talked to EVERYONE at the store, their customer "care" dept. which, by the way, i've called and have been listening to the recording asking me to stay on the line for 37 minutes as I write this and numerous people at Citibank credit.

I have been promised credits for late charges, interest fees, services not performed and a granite backsplash I never even ordered.

I now find out that they have reported me not once, but for the past 2 months,  to the credit bureaus. My fico was over 700, but because of their incredible incompetance and a lack of desire to solve this my credit score has suffered.

While they admit that, once again, the charges were not due, they said I have to get this removed from the credit report.

I am drained and now worried about my credit. please help me to resolve what should be a very simple problem which, one year and dozens of phone calls later, I have not been able to.
