I purchased a stackable washer/dryer in 2000, and the dryer caught my clothes and condo on fire. This was not a lint fire. The heating element caught the clothes in the barrel on fire, and the door burst open in flames.

Condo was water/fire damaged. I was hospitalized.

On 11-09-07 our Frigidaire washer would not go into high spin. Called on 11/12/07; they said my drain was clogged--to check drain and drain tub. Called back at 12:00 pm and was told to Call A Home-tech Service Company. Called on 11/12/07, and they came out to look at it on 11/15/07. They ordered the parts. On 11/27/07 they were to come out to repair; they never showed up. Came on 12/01/07, and the repair guy said the part was bad--had to order same part, but a new one. On 12/10/07 still had not heard from A Home-tech Service Company. The Washer is only 2 years old. I will never buy another Frigidaire product.

Service Call was 89.50 for them to come and look at it and three trips to laundromat at 40.00 each, totals  209.50 and one day's pay at 92.00 = 301.50.

I purchased a front load Frigidaire washing machine in July 2003 for 597. I basic machine that I truly expected to last me 10 to 15 years given our experience with old Frigidaire and Maytag washing machines. Today, after a 65 diagnostic service call, I was advised that it would cost more than 600 to repair the machine. `

I will purchase another washing machine this week. It definitely will not be Frigidaire. I know that it is totally hopeless to expect any kind of response from the manufacturer and engaging an attorney would only result in them making money. So, my response to this will be to interact with every customer in every appliance department that I visit while seeking to replace this machine, advising them that, whatever they do, they should not purchase a Frigidaire product. Once the unit is replaced, I plan a full kitchen remodel with complete appliance replacement. Needless to say, I will not be replacing with Frigidaire and will take every opportunity during this time to advise anyone I come into contact about the quality of Frigidaire products. I should state that my ex-wife warned me about buying anything other than Maytag. She is still right 10 years after the divorce!
