Tracy of Riverside, IA July 26, 2009 I own a Frigidaire Full size tumble action washer, bought on 07/15/08. The mold smell is unbearable, dispite trying several different fixes. There is dark mold on the rubber gasket in several spots and it does not wipe away. I also pulled back a small area where the gasket is affixed to the machine and it's disgusting. This cannot be cleaned without removing the gasket, which I'm afraid to do. It sounds like there are several complaints about the same issue, but the company is ignoring it. I have the manual in front of me and the onnly thing is says is to "Periodically, wipe dry the folds in the bottom of the flexible gasket to remove lint and other debris." Sure, it works for lint and debris, but not for mold. I've followed suggestions to keep the door open when not in use, but then the whole house stinks. Sue of Bellport, NY July 15, 2009 I am so glad to see so many similar complaints to mine: Whenever I called Frigidaire they swore no one else had ever reported this problem. I have a Frigidaire front-loading tumble action washer and have had a problem with the gasket getting moldy and black since I bought it. I have complained via phone but have never received a satisfactory solution or answer about how to correct such a defective design. Because of the way the gasket folds it is impossible to wipe dry the inner folds of the gasket, which turn black and moldy. The crack on the outer edge of the gasket also gets black, and no matter how much I wipe it off, the paper towel comes away black. If an article of clothing touches it, it can leave a black mark on that. I’m really frustrated. My husband is very allergic to mold and I worry that the mold is making his problems worse. I can’t imagine how Frigidaire could design such a faulty product and take no responsibility for it. Edward of Delray Beach, FL July 10, 2009 We purchased a frgidiare front loading washer and have had the same repair 4 times. The 1 year warranty is about to expire and we do have an extended warranty, but the inconvenience each time it breaks is great. I have requested the unit be replaced as it is defective, but have received poor service/results from the frigidaire service dept. They won't put me through to the replacement department as that is "not their policy". I have only been able to speak with the one person who answers the calls and to their supervisor. I am very frustrated with this service. When the washer is working it is fine, but feel that 4 repairs for the same thing, in less than a year is extreme. It is obviously defective. Once the ewarranty runs out and I have to use the extended warranty, the service takes 3-4 weeks for repairs and that is a long time to be without a washer. I just want a working/reliable washing machine! Susan of Mont Vernon, NH July 2, 2009 Purchase a Frigidaire washer in May of 2004 and after calling to get service on it (was making a racket!) I was told it would not be worth fixing and that I needed to replace it! I contacted Frigidaire on the advice of my appliance provider and got nothing, zip. Dead washer. They are sorry for my 699.00 inconvenience. I have no faith in American products. Raeanne of Huntington Beach, CA June 30, 2009 I purchased a Frigidaire Washer Model # GLTF2940FS1 on 11/28/08. The washer recently started tearing clothes and leaving gray rubber marks all over the clothes. This happens no matter what speed or cycle the washer is set to. I have personally read over 100 complaints about this same problem with other Frigidaire washers on the internet, yet Frigidaire told me that no one has ever complained about the problem. Cindy of Mechanicville, NY May 19, 2009 I purchased a Frigidaire washer and dryer set 2 years ago. Over the last month I noticed it was taking a little longer to dry my clothes but I did not think anything of it. I have 3 kids and we have a lot of clothes. Well on 5/12/09 at 510 PM I turned my Dryer on for the very last time. I had left my house with my 3 children. My husband and our dog were home. My husband was sleeping. He had to go to work at 7pm for the night shift. Around 6pm I recieved a call that my house was fully engulfed with flames. The dog woke my husband but at this point it was to late my house was completely gone. My husband and the dog jumped from the 2nd floor window. Everything we owned is gone! Today the fire inspector from the county and the insurance company has comfirmed that this dryer was the cause of the fire. Something to do with the motor. An engineer will be out at the end of the week to finalize the cause of the problem. I guess several fires have started from this and the company has failed to offer a recall! Does someone have to die before they will admit there wrong! the model number for my dryer is ser6600es. barbara of Dallas, GA May 18, 2009 I purchased a Frigidare Front Load Washer In 2005, It has a child safty lock on it which can't be used because if you close it up it mold and mildews, and even if it is left open the thing still molds and mildew. I have had the service people out twice in less than two weeks, and still not fixed. I am waiting for parts to arrive which will be another 5 or 6 days. This is not the first time the machine has been borken it has happened three time prior to this. So guess what I am still have to use the laundry mat to do my landry Frigidare should have to go back and recall and replace their sorry washers. but guess what that is not going to happen either Sherry of Julian, CA May 13, 2009 My Frigidaire dryer caught my clothes and my home on fire! Why aren't these being recalled? I am trying to pursue a claim against the company but I can't stand that anyone else will have to go through what I have. Please take the overheated clothes, burn marks or any other signs of too much heat seriously. Dawn of Fort Myers, FL May 13, 2009 We purchased our Frigidaire front load washer and dryer in late 2005. About 6 months after having our washing machine Model # GLT81670AS0 we noticed a moldy and musty smell. After calling the company they suggested keeping the door and the dispenser door open. We did this, nothing helped. I have repeatedly cleaned the black rubber seal because of the mold that accumulates. The dispenser door also gets moldy. After having to wash and wash and wash our clothes over and over again, I finally pulled the rubber seal back to see what was under it! I AM COMPLETELY DISGUSTED! There is mold, hair, dirt, scum, sludge and anything else you can imagine behind this seal. Why is it my job to clean this, why is there mold in the first place. I have been having a few health problems over the past few years, I honestly think that it has something to do with this mold that has accumulated over the years. My laundry room, stinks, since I've pulled that rubber seal back to see what was behind it, my whole house smells of mold. It brings me to tears knowing that I have been washing my little boys clothes in this machine with all of this mold accumulated over this time. I will NEVER, EVER buy another of Frigidaire products. We also have a front load dryer and it collects so much in the lint trap, we can't even get in there to clean it out. We spend 180.00 every 6 months to have a company come out and clean it for us. Sometimes the top of this dryer is so hot, we can't even touch it, it also smells as if something is going to catch on fire it gets so hot. I'm very sad about this, especially the washing machine. Our towels smell and our clothing smells and with the way I have kept it clean with bleach etc, it still stinks. I've also noticed a lot of times our whites will come out with grey streaks or lines on them. My husband lost his job last November and we are in no position to buy another unit, I think this company needs to do something to correct this matter. I have photos of all of this mold also. Please, if any one reads this, DO NOT BUY THESE APPLIANCES. Have to hire someone to come and clean our lint traps because the lint is so bad in the dryer, we can't get to it. That's 180.00 every 6 months. Rewashing our clothing over and over again to get the smell out raises our electric bill. I have also been having respiratory problems over the past few years and I honestly think it has to do with this mold in the washing machine and washing our clothing and towels in the moldy waser. Cheryl of Sparrow Bush, NY May 9, 2009 Purchased front loading washer a year ago. Did not have the funds at the time to purchase matching dryer. Finally had the funds at the end of February 2009. Very happily purchased dryer and installed it. Worked wonderfully until 2 days ago when it just "up and quit" without warning. Initially I thought it might be a circuit breaker (checked - not the problem). Used a volt meter to check for the presence of electricity - good at the electrical socket - still nothing from the dryer (no light, no digital controls, nada). Mind you that this dryer is only 2 months old! Very, very frustrated. Unfortunately, my original receipt for the unit was in my purse which was stolen a month ago. (receipt required for warranty call) So, here I sit with a washer full of wet clothes and a dryer that does not work. I do not have an additional 800 to replace the brand new dryer.
