Cub Cadet

Donna of Mt Vernon, IL April 1, 2009

Donna of Mt Vernon IL (04/01/09)
In Aug 2007 we bought a Cub Cadet 23HP Z-Force 50 Riding Mower. It's cost was 3800.00. We purchased the mower new for our local TSC store. It has a 2 yr warranty. This mower has a stamped deck, and it is the problem. We have mowed the same property for over 30 years and never had this sort of problem with any mower we have had. It's inevitable that you will hit things when you mow, and the very first time we used this mower the front wheel bent, breaking the weld. Eventually the finger guard broke. Paint is popping off all over the deck.

The real problem is this is too much mower and too little deck. I think Cub knows that as they now have a welded deck with this mower. Assuming the warranty would cover the repairs, we took the mower to a local dealer, only to find out Cub would do nothing, wear and tear. I've had new cheap mowers over the years and the decks lasted longer than the tractor itself! I mow 2 acres of yard, it's not a field or pasture, it's my yard...so I wasn't any harder on this mower than I've been on any other one we owned. We thought spending this kind of money on a mower was a good move, but we could go thru 2 new John Deere's for the price we paid for this one that is already falling apart.

Contacted Cub Cadet several times, ultimately had to pay for repairs that took the deck to a useable standard, it will not last long.

Several problems with it since purchasing it new. Bearing problems, deck problems, tire valve stem problems. Main problem is the carburetor had to be rebuilt and the machine less than one year old. It had been used 11 times for approx 25 hours. The cost of rebuilding the carburetor was over 500. I just bought the machine for over 3000 and less than a year later had to spend this kind of money. I feel it should be covered by warranty.

A financial hardship. The reason I bought this mower is to avoid spending money I do not have to fix a mower. I took a loan out for this mower and still paying on it. The 500 is an unexpected hardship financially. I bought new to avoid costly repairs.

I purchase a mini tractor from a local dealer. I tractor since day one has been nothing bit a promblem. Major component have broken and the machine has been in the shop more that not. I have been told by many people that this machine has a long history of these types of issues. No again it is out of service with another major falure. 150 hours on the machine 20,000 cost biggest piece of junk I have ever purchased

Purchased a cub cadet zero turn mower. 1 month before the warrenty ran out the transmission went out. The dealer dealer did not claim the warrenty repair before the warrenty was out. Therefore Cub cadet would not pay for the repair so the dealer did. This mower has been the biggest pile of junk I have ever purchased. I contacted Cub Cadet to let them know what had happened and they told me this was between them and the dealer. Please if anyone is considering purchasing any Cub Cadet product please reconsider. They are the most rude people and sell JUNK.

The mower now has more transmission problems although the unit only has 55 hours on it. The choke lever has pulled out of the plastic frame which means a new finder. JUNK JUNK

On May 24, 2008, we purchased a Cub Cadet lawnmover from Home Depot, for 287.00. At just 4 months old, while cutting grass, the lawn mower started running rough & wouldn't continue to run. We contacted Cub Cadet for an authorized repair shop. On or about September 15, 2008, we took the lawmower for repairs. We were told it would be 6 days before they could look at it.

After leaving it there, they diagnosed with needing a new carburetor, which they replaced, but had to wait 2 weeks for the parts to be shipped from Cub Cadet. Another week went by, and the new carburetor did not fix the problem. The repair shop has to get approval from Cub Cadet to do any troubleshooting and repairs. At this point, after being told that it would be another 2 weeks to get the next part to try to fix it with, the governor return spring,

I called Cub Cadet's customer service number after no response to my email complaint to their online customer service department. I spoke with Susan,on November 1st, who told me that I could not speak to a supervisor because she was who would take care of the problem and expedite getting my lawnmower repairs completed. She promised that she would have an answer for me and would return my call later that same afternoon.

No phone call came, nor any additional email. So far, the repair shop has spent more time in labor hours alone than I spent on the original cost of the mower. I feel that over a month to have it in the repair shop is an exorbitant amount of time.

I have had to rent a lawnmower in order to take care of my yards. I feel that I have been dismissed by Cub Cadet, that they do not care about the inconvenience I am suffering from this situation, and that I feel that the customer service department has blown me off to try and shut me up.
