Mitsubishi

In 2004 I purchased a mitsubishi projection TV WD-62725 for 3600.plus other costs... Before the lamp had even burned out (usually after 4000-6000 hours), the electronics fritzed: repair starts at 1000.00 to replace chassis with no guarantees! TV screen is blue blotch or black ior gray squares.

Will Mitsubishi reimburse me for proper disposal/recycle/resale? Caveat Emptor!

1/18/07 Paid over 1800 for New Mitsubishi WD-57732 Television - Bulb lasted 12 months. 12/31/08 Bulb has burned out again. After thorough investigation have found many people complaining about an obvious design flaw with the product. Was told these bulbs should last 3 - 5 years.

Company has extended their warranty on the heat sensors (Thermistors) for an additional 2 years past the 1 year warranty. Theheat sensors that surround the bulb housing but not the bulb themselves. Product should be recalled for possible fire hazard. Overheating is obvious design flaw. 249.00 Per year for bulb replacement and that is if you can do it yourself. Have read where others have had to replace their bulbs even more frequently.

I have a 62 inch MItsubishi TV, which I bought 3-4 years ago. I have had to pay a repairman several times already to fix various problems. A lamp replacement, which seemed acceptable, but then on separate occasions a faulty fan--which the first repairman failed to diagnose correctly; then three months ago, a replacement of capacitors, which didn't seem like something that should be needed.

And now only three months later, it appears the capacitors are once again in need of replacement. This seems to occur when a storm knocks out electric power and the tv shuts off without a chance for it to cool down--although I'm just guessing. At any rate, it appears to be a known defect by the number of other people on the Internet who experience the blinking light when the TV won't power on. Mitsubishi should issue a recall or pay for these repairs. This would be a good class action lawsuit.

Faulty Mitsubishi WS48413. Like all the other complaints, we also had problems. Ours started within 3 months of purchse in 2007. The board to one of the picture tubes was changed out. All was fine until Dec 2008 when the green flashing light showed up and the set would not turn on. I was able to get a diagnostic code of 22 to show which meant a short circuit. After checking on the internet, I found numerous complaints about this company and its TV's. In my case, I found that changing out two IC components would fix the problem. I replaced them but also had to replace the main power board. I count myself lucky in that the board was available. I believe the biggest ripoff is the price of components. My set only cost 1400 but the power board was 290. Others would have been out the cost of the service call also.

I previously reported a problem with my Mitsubishi DLP TV, Model WT-A42. I have since read many consumer complaints on your site about similar Mitsubishi models and the total lack of response from the company, in some cases boarding on cover up or fraud. If you care to publish the email address of Ikuo Marisato, President of MDEA, it's imorisada@mitsubishi-tv.com Perhaps many unhappy consumers who feel they've spent a lot of money, time and effort on an obviously inferior product would be willing to bring this issue to Mr. Marisado (or Marisato's) attention.
