Hampton Bay Patio Furniture

Hampton Bay Furniture, sold by Home Depot stores, is manufactured by JRA Furniture, headquartered in Cerritos, Calif., which proudly boasts that its furniture is made in "factories throughout Asia." Yes, and we can think of many consumers who would have been happier if JRA's glass=top tables had stayed in Asia.

Besides Hampton Bay, JRA's glass-top tables are sold under a number of brand names, the most notorious being Martha Stewart. Her line of patio furniture, sold by Kmart, has produced an explosion of complaints from consumers about its nasty habit of exploding all over their patios and decks.

I was searching for a new table top when I ran across this blog with the same exact problem we had. Our Hampton Bay Kampar table top just shattered. I wish I had taken pictures as many have stated they did. I am not sure what to do now, I just want glass back in the middle of our patio furniture.

The Hampton Bay Folian Patio table which we purchased last summer shattered into a million pieces. Noone was on the deck when it happened since it was 6am. I awoke to a loud crash. When we bought the set we had asked if the table was made of safety glass, and were assured that it was, and that if it broke it would hold together.

This was simply untrue- it exploded into sharp shards of all sizes. After hours of cleaning it up by hand, then using a wet dry vac, we still have so much glass particles in our deck that we are planning to replace it. It is dangerous to walk on the deck barefooted or to allow our dog to be on the deck. At first I thought it was a fluke, and I was trying to find a replacement glass.

Home Depot was of no help, just said they didn't carry it anymore. I wasn't sure of the style, and Hampton Bay division of Home Depot told me to go online to find it-which I did. I happened upon this site while I was looking, and was mortified to see that this is a huge problem that Home Depot MUST be aware of already.

I called them back to let them know. After getting a huge run around from Home Depot (multiple calls- no results just other numbers to call-Hampton Bay,some warranty place (who told me I could buy a replacement for 260), I figure we are just out the money. I really can't understand why this product was not recalled. Home Depot does not stand behind their merchandise. Why would I want to buy a replacement glass that obviously is flawed?

After spending almost 700 on this patio set we are left with a useless table frame, and chair pads that still contain fragments of glass particles. Our deck also contains shards of glass. Luckily, noone was hurt. I have also spent hours making calls and waiting for calls back that never come from Home Depot. What a shoddy company!

Add my list to the exploding table top. What everyone says is right on target. The class absolutely exploded and thousands of pieces ended up on the patio, grass and walkway. I spent two hours with a wet vac trying to clean up the pieces. Since I have a dog, I am worried that he will cut his paw.

This Hampton Bay set (approximately 48 inches glass top with umbrellas and four swivel chairs in green color) was sold to me a by Home Depot a couple of years ago. I have always been careful to take the table inside during major storms. I was at my computer when I observed the table explode on a mild day. I will take photos and contact Home Depot but it looks like nothing is being done about this matter.

The table top will coast more than a new table. I will not buy Hampton Bay.

We had purchased the Hampton Bay patio set in Spring of 2006. The glass table top exploded one day to the extent of glass ending up in my pool, and all over the deck. It took us forever to clean it all up, especially from the pool. This is the second table top, the original exploded only months after we bought the set. Home depot replaced it then since it was so new. This is really an inferior product for the price of the set.

Since both my husband and myself are now retired, there is no way we can afford to replace the glass on this table.

I bought a Hampton Bay Sonoma Swing about a year ago. The canapy and cushions have faded and so bad that it looks like it is five years old. We brought in the cushions and canapy over the winter so it was not out for in the winter weather.

There is no place where I can find that we can have these replace. I would like to know if it can or will be replaced. I paid alot of money for this and it should not weathered like it did. What can I do?
