Ethan Allen

Liora of Solon OH (09/11/08)
I ordered window treatments end of May/start of June 2008. A week after I placed the order, the sales rep Candy Murdock called me and told me the fabric is out of stock and I needed to pick a new one, which I did (and was charged an additional 300 on top of the 4300 that was initially quoted). I was told someone would contact me mid of July with completion date updates. They did not and July 23rd I called Ethan Allen and they told me Candy was no longer with the company and neither was her boss.

A new woman called me, Betsy and said she was to take care of my order. She told me over the phone that she thought something was wrong wiht the order and she came over that same day to show me the window treatments. Well not only was one of them incorrect, they were ALL incorrect. The hardware was not covered in the back like it should have been, the fabric was too short/not long enough, the sides of the fabric was VELCROED(which I think is RIDICULOUS for that amount of money on 3 sets of windows), amongst other things. She gathered her things and told me it would take another 4-6 weeks to make things right.

Well after another 2 weeks of arguing with her district manager, they finally gave me a 500 discount and removed the additional 300 markup. They then told me the new fabric would be in August 10th and it would go to the workroom and they would start on it. Well fabric didn't come in until the 17th and we were then out another week. Then they told me it would be installed by Labor Day. They were not ready then. THEN I was told they were going to install it on Friday Sept 6th in the morning...Betsy called me the day before and said they didn't ship all the parts and it would have to wait until the following week.

So then we schedule an installation date of 9/11 at 8am. At 8:15am, I get a call from the store manager stating Betsy had a family emergency and couldn't make it. At this point, I had it. I have NEVER delt with such a debocle of a company before. I cancelled my order and told them I wanted my initial deposit of 2300 refunded asap. I am planning on writing a certified complain to the CEO as well as obtaining an attorney to compensate my time, money, and energy lost.

Waited 3 1/2 months for window treatments, wasted 2300 that could have been invested in the markets, numerous times back and forth from work, numerous times took time off of work, hours spent on the phone

I purchased two chair-and-a-half, referred to as Triad Chair by Ethan Allen. I ordered them Oct 28, 2007.

I purchased a 900 Ethan Allen New Impressions Dining Table in November 2007, thinking that this table would be of tremendous quality and would last a lifetime. Within two months the finished surface of the table began to blister and crack, revealing unfinished wood beneath. When I called Ethan Allen they told me to use a wood colored pen to color the unstained wood. I did that and it looked terrible.

I called Ethan Allen Service Center here in Atlanta since the Ethan Allen Store where I bought the table closed down. They sent out a technician to look at the table. It was obvious as this man came through my front door, not even saying hello, that he had an Ethan Allen Agenda with no intention of backing any warranty. Four days later I got a call saying that the technician and the customer service manager reviewed the pictures and determined that it was not under warranty. Surprise! Surprise! They told me that I put something hot on the table (I did not). They refuse to take responsibility for shoddy workmanship.

They insist that the problem is my fault when I know that it is not! My mom and dad had an Ethan Allen 60s coffee table and it was my job to polish it periodically. That table was made so well and had a beautiful finish. The crap they sold me should be an embarrassment to them. It's not, of course, because it's only about the sale for them. Caution: Today's Ethan Allen is NOT Your Mom's Ethan Allen

a 900 waste of money

Bought a sofa from ethan allen. The material started fraying by the semi attached cushions. and coming apart. Sent someone to take pictures. Then they said they would repair came back again material was fraying. Contacted the corporate department. What a joke said maybe your dog did it. No way and especially since some of the fraying was in back under the cushion.

My sister in law works in consumer reporting and has agreed to help. We need to hold them accountable. there is no excuse for poor merchandise at those prices. They will go down fast when people no longer go there. So Ethan allen its up to you. Satsify the customer or loose your business, Remember the customer is always right.

Ethan Allen does not stand by it's product once delivery is made. You have no recourse if you are dissatisfied with the product once it is in your home. I bought an entertainment piece that had an obvious design flaw. The Ethan Allen technician's solution was to tape card board to the back of the piece to make the design flaw invisible. Completely inappropriate on a 1400 piece of furniture. Ethan Allen could only say that the piece was designed to spec so I must live with it even though I am unhappy with it. I cannot return it even though the problem was not apparent when I looked at the piece on their floor. Their attitude is like that of a used car salesman that sells a car As Is. Once you get it off the lot you are stuck with it.

When I removed the unseemly card board that Ethan Allen had taped to the back of the unit there was a glue residue. They wouldn't take of it. They only suggested how I could take care of it. Apparently my time means nothing to them.
