I started with Kaplan 1/2008 in the Legal Studies program. I've encountered problem after problem with them. My tuition was paid each term by VA (Voc Rehab). I experienced discrimination from male instructors; accused of plagiarism by this male instructor (I have the paper I did and the info was not plagiarised- it was info from a US court document- a public document which I cited); I was blocked from classes for not filling out a FAFSA (which is voluntary and I wasn't using FIN AID. Kaplan said that FIN AID chose me to audit my 2007 taxes so that is why I needed to fill one out. If I'm not using FIN AID in 2008 why would I be audited?)When I complained to the OIG and my Voc Rehab counselor called they changed their statement and told him I was in the arrears on tuition by about 12K. This is impossible because VA sends the money each term electronically.

After some arguing the block was removed but I lost a week of school; I was on the Dean's list up until I was four classes from graduating and then they start failing me- can't graduate with F's so they can force you to stay in and pay for more classes if you want that degree which isn't good in a lot of places. The classes don't transfer over to a lot of schools no matter the accreditation. They purposely do not respond to you as this is one of thier many ploys to keep your money or make you pay more money. I've sent complaints to my Senator, Attorney General's office, OIG, and of course various forums on the net.

My complaint was recently picked up and investigated by the Dept. of Ed Financial Aid- the response from Kaplan is a joke especially considering they outright lie stating I never complained about the discrimination and I was never blocked etc. I have various emails from them regarding the blocked account and why; the complaints to the DEan of Legal Studies himself; and also the Chair of Legal Studies. The Dept. of Ed stated that the Accreditation commission is needs to me made aware as does the state dept of Ed. So, I'm forwarding all of my information to these two depts. I'd be interested in a class action- Kaplan is extorting and fraudulently scamming monies not just from private individuals but from the Federal Government and banks. They need to be stopped.

I lost about 18K dollars from my educational account that I could have used at a reputable univeristy that is concerned with students learning and graduating. Not just concerned with their own pocketbooks. I'm in the process of finding another college which when I transfer over I will lose credits and have to start back over with trying to finish this degree. So not only did Kaplan steal my money, they took a year of my life away from me; future earnings; and my trust.

I registered for online classes on8/2008. was confirmed that i will start classes 9/2008, fafsa was accepted and allmy documents. i called in october 2/008 to find out when will financail aid be paid they would tellme soon, i called again in nov. 2008 was told the same. all the way till jan. 2009. when i was send a letter thru email stating i now owe 6,800.00.

no one at Kaplan is returning any of my calls, my gpa is 3.96, im attending classes but now am getting discouraged due to the fact that no one is letting me know where my acct stands. i called fafsa they stated i have a loan package since 8/2008 that has never been applied. i cannot to afford to pay such outrageous bill if i did not qualify in anymeans why wasnt i told in 8/2008 when i spoke with financail aid j. bernadotte. she stated she was swormed with other calls and emails and sorry she got to me so late in JANUARY. please help. who can i contact to get this situation fixed. thankyou

i am stressed because i want to persue my degree but at what cost if i was aware in the beginning i had to pay i wouldve of never enrolled. i have 3 small children and i am not working. this feels like a great big scam.

They forgot to bill my first six month of college in 2005 and graudated Aug 2007 and in Feb. they the account and financial aid office ask me to take out personal loan I did not as why I was on major pain pills from a car accident, and they turn me down because of being in litigation, So the next thing I need I talk to Nick Manger and his Manager and they said they take care of it for me and boy did they ever they go a Joshua to cosigned a loan for me at 7600 to back date the money they receive from Citibank and I guess that Citibank told me that he never knew me and I didn't know him.

Bottom line they took out a loan in my name with my name on my copy and electrical signed it in my name. I called Citibank and got one lady and said that was fraud and she gave me her number send me paper to filled out and that was March of 2008, oh Kaplan University covered them self up nicely with that money and back date it to Nov 12, 2005 and to June 1 2006 and made it look like they never did nothing wrong, and send back my college money in Aug of 2008 and I had to take a private loan in order to continue college. THe loan was at 17% interest a month almost 2000 dollars a month add on to the loan.

They on May 21 Dean W was out of the office and they knew that I knew they were in a lawsuit with my old dean and two prof and they are in suit with the United states of American, I was getting tired of the fight with financial aid and they I thought I found an attorney in the summer to take this case. I never be out of debt from Kaplan University the rest of my life. They did me wrong with the loan and I called them on it and got dismissal over it and it not truth I was in the middle of my third class their in my bachelor year and all of a shutting the middle of a tort exam and had to quit college we in our five week of college and then I just gave up in a way.

They hurt me badly during that time and people ask what is wrong with me,I need an attorney in the Northern eastern court federal court to work with me. I am a freelance paralegal. The statutes of limitations is going to run out in March of 2009 I do believe, although I know when you realize the problem that when the statutes being also. Can you have me with this there is a police report in Auburn Police statation the Citibank bank may me get one. I love Kaplan but not what it is doing to the student and taking there hard earn money while going to while to college. Please Help me find some help here.l and thee is more to the story than this. Please let me know what you think about this or am I stuck paid the bil.

When I began my experience with Kaplan I was also told that I would owe nothing. I was told that between Pell grants, financial aid and a student loan I would owe nothing until at least October. This was in April, I attended Kaplan from April-July, only taking two classes. I was billed 615.00 for May and June. I unfortunately did pay for May but then decided that Kaplan was not the school for me and withdrew before the next term began. I have received harassing phone calls at work, on my cell phone, several emails and bills in the mail that tell you absolutely nothing but that you owe money. They do not respond to emails and give you the run around if you speak with them.

I have requested on numerous occasions to have a break down of exactly what is owed and why, but I might as well be asking for the winning lotto numbers. If you are experiencing the same idiotic treatment that I have I would highly suggest taking your complaint to the Inspector General. That is what I am doing because I WILL NOT pay them money that I do not owe and have completely lost my patience. How can a college emphasize how great their education is when they staff so many uneducated people?

I am trying to pursue my education at a different college, but do to the fact that Kaplan is stating I owe them money I can not get my transcripts nor will they work with me until I have cleared the financial debt through Kaplan University Online.

I am currently a student at Kaplan and pursueing a AAS in paralegal studies and I have nothing but good things to say about Kaplan....after reading what others have had happen...I have never recieved a bill from and my statements are correct with what was told to me from the begining...I don't understand why others are having such an issue..
