USPS - Privacy Violations

Lisa of [town withheld] (11/21/04):
My boyfriend and I have been together for 4 years now. He has a business in 3 different countries and is away a lot so, we email, call and use the postal service to send letters, gifts, etc.. Due to someone taking mail out of our mailbox at our home address I got a P.O. Box at the post office. I also have an Internet based Store and am shipping and receiving payments every day.

Postal Service May Seek Service Cut
Movie Fans Suspect Foul Play at the Post Office

This is is a VERY small town and everyone wants to know what you're doing. Recently I started receiving mail at my P.O. Box late (a month late) and the tops of my letters from my boyfriend are being opened! As if they ripped it across the top with their finger!

My boyfriend and I don't get to see each other often so some of these letters are as you would imagine between two young people, if you know what I mean. I didn't like that they were opened at all! A few days later, I went to the post office to ship a package and the man working there looked at the name on my package (my name) and asked if that was me. I said, yes that's my first name but most people address me by my middle name.

He had a weird look on his face and said, "I'm not going to tell you what I heard about you!" I said, what? He wouldn't tell me. He just went on and processed my packages as if he never said it! The post office only has about 3 or 4 workers. That man and I were the only people in the front when he said that to me. That shows me for sure he or someone in the post office there is the one opening my personal mail and gossiping about my personal life! I want it stopped!
