Keith of Clearwater FL (07/01/08) I have had multiple issues with this Post office. First they stopped delivering my mail for no apparent reason which made my bills late and cost me late fees. When I inquired about it they had no answer for me as to why it happened.
The next time I recieved a package and never got it. When I inquired about it I was told that the Post Office delivered it. When I went to the Post Office They were not only very rude with me but they told me that if their carrier said she delivered it then it was my problem. I stayed at the Post office for 2 hours waiting for the delivery person to get back in from her route and she said she remembered delivering a package. I asked her if she would go back to the community where I lived and open the parcel boxes and she said she would. When she opened the parcel locker and there was my package. The key to the parcel locker was put in someone elses mail box.
Finally I put my mail on hold while I went on vacation. I filled out the form provided by the Post office stating what date my mail should be held and what date to start re-delivery of my mail. I also checked the box stating that I would pick up my held mail. When I got back from vacation I found a package had been delivered and place in my mail box. I went to the Post Office to pick up my held mail and was told that they did not have it and the delivery person must have taken it. Some how I don't feel that it is right that I have to waste my time and gas to chase my mail and be treated rudely when I followed the Post Office procedures with my mail.
I wasted my time and gas as well as encountering late fees due to poor mail delivery. Not to mention being treated rudely by Post Office employees. These are the people that created my grief to begin with.
Neal of Rio Rancho NM (07/01/08) Postal service has on numerous times have delivered the mail to the wrong address, including checks, goverment checks, i have had people around the neighbor hood, delivering my mail because it was not delivered to the right address, this is surely getting tiring, as they make pleanty of money , and can't do there job, what else can i say, ,,
checks could have been cashed by a untrustly person, just a good thing an honest person delivered it to me, and did the postal service job, ,,
Sharon of Colton CA (06/26/08) Have filed mutliple compaints locally about not receiving mail for the past 4 years!! Never get credit cards, bill statements, my medicare cards, my absentee ballots!! Have had to acquire them by other means....and I am severally handicapped which presents major problems for me.
Kathleen of Des Moines IA (06/23/08) I have been fighting with the post office and mail carriers in this area for the last 3 years. I have had my mail delivery stopped on numerous occasions and now as of 4/25/08 was forced to rent a P.O. Box in order to receive my mail.
I have a 8 year old white boxer. He is an inside dog and only goes out with us in the back yard (which is fenced in) or in the front yard on his chain. I have had animal control at my door numerous times stating that my dog was out, when I tell them that he was not out, then they leave. On 2/09/08 they did issue me a dog at large ticket stating that the mail carrier took a picture of the dog that he was and was prepared to go to court if he had to. I decided to fight that ticket since I knew that the dog was not outside.
When we went to court, much to my surprise, he lied about having a picture of the dog. I am tired of this. I have contacted the Post Master General, and wrote a letter to my congressman with no help. They just say that if I want to be a dog owner then I need to take care of my dog and not let him run! At one point I was told that if they even saw my dog in the window that they would not deliver my mail.
Even with the P.O. Box I am not getting my mail delivered! I have mailed returns at undeliverable, just return to sender for no reason at all. I have bought packages from EBay and Amazon.com that have been lost and never delivered. making complains doesn't seem to do anything at all
I have moved my mailbox away from my house (this area has the mailboxes attached to the house, so I put a box at the curb) That mailbox cost me $35.00 at Menards. Then I was told that they could not deliver my mail again, so now I am putting a fence around my front yard so that the dog can not get out of the yard at all. That fence is costing me about $3000.00 to buy and install. When is this harassment from the post office going to stop (they are also harassing one of the neighbors that live 3 doors down from me)!!!!!!
Ms. of Rochester Hills MI (06/19/08) I live in a trailer/modular park called Rochester Estates. The mail carrier Rick in question has had problems delivering mail to my house because I have a female American Eskimo that barks. I have a deck with gates at both entrances, her tie out line is at least 15-20 feet from where he enters my property and walks across my grass to the next house.
I was having my decks painted this past Wednesday, June 11 and the tie out was placed in a different spot, and the hardware was off the gates so the gates were held open so it the hinges wouldn't split the wood. I was standing in the door way while she was out, and the mail carrier Rick came to deliver mail, and Lizie saw him and ran out to him and had her front paws up on him like she greets everyone. He started yelling and making threats, and drove immediately to the park office. I called the park office and reported the incident.
He claimed that my dog bit him (never mentioned it to me), and then told the police and animal control officer that was subsequently called. I had left for a meeting with my boss, and was called back by my neighbor to talk with the officers. The police officers said the dog did not bite him, there were a couple scratches on his knee(he was wearing shorts) from her claws that occurred when I pulled her away from him. The police did not make a report, no ticket was issued, the dog was not quarantined because the skin was not broken. They determined the dog was friendly and not vicious, just very friendly and loves attention. I didn't have to sign any report. I have been told that the mail carrier filed a false report, thus I could file a suit.
The mail carrier Rick has repeatedly threatened myself, my dog and two of my neighbors while they were watching her in my absence. In the past he would not deliver my mail for 1-3 days at a time because my dog barks, and he seems to be terrified of all of the dogs in the park(Rochester Estates). I am not the only person who has problems with him, and he has created problems for many dog owners since he started delivering the mail on this route.
His Supervisor, Missy who I have talked to on two occasions has been very kind and has tried to work things out, but her supervisor wouldn't allow Missy's solution to the issue. Missy determined there was no reason for him to be afraid, and my deck and tie out were created to give him 15-20 feet away from the dog. I had moved my mailbox a year and a half ago, so he wouldn't have to come close to the gated enclosed deck or the yard tie out.
He has continued to harass me and now has not delivered my mail since June 12. The real clincher was on the day of the incident(11th) he delivered my mail, but has not delivered it since the 12th. I have contacted the Rochester post office and the supervisor over Missy will not allow my mail to be delivered. I was told to change my address or pick it up. I am a senior citizen and widow with physical issues(handicapped) that make it difficult for me, and on one issue to hand hold a leash thus the reason for a tie out leash, and she(the dog) is my peace of mind and makes me feel safe. I have bills to pay and I need my mail delivered to my home.
The other thing that concerns me in this matter, is that he(mail carrier Rick) has created a bad situation between me and the park. I have been seeking legal counsel on this matter, but am hoping to resolve it myself. Any help would be appreciated. I know there is an issue with this park(Rochester Estates) and the USPS over the delivery of mail. The park has had walking mail carriers for many years, and the USPS wants to have a central mailbox area, so I feel that myself and others in here are being used as pawns to secure what each party wants to accomplish. Thank you for your help and hopefully a quick resolution.
Melissa of Richwood OH (06/10/08) We have 2 dogs and have since we lived here. They bark at the mail lady everyday on a regular basis. This past week she decided she would no longer deliver our mail. She said the dog came through a window. lol There is no way the dog went through the window. Maybe she put her nose through a little hole in the screen but that was it. She has petted both these dogs before and no problems. Not sure why she just doesn't want to deliver now. I think the USPS should pay me if I have to go get my own mail or maybe we could fire that one and get a new carrier.
Ned of Millburn NJ (06/09/08) Very poor delivery of mail in our apartment building. Primarily putting mail in the incorrect mail box. I received a Discover credit card bill for April in May with a USPS sticker for unable to forward. There was no forwarding address I have lived here for 2.5 years. Because of that Discover has bumped my percentage cost to 19.99 percent through NO fault of my own. I am writing to them, my congressman, the USPS and my lawyer.
Dee of Austin TX (06/09/08) My parcel was delivered to an incorrect address. The person at USPS said they would investigate, get me the incorrect address that the parcel was delivered to so that I could pick it up myself.I never heard back from anyone. When I called USPS they said someone looked at the complaint and closed it out!
I have not received my possessions. USPS is a broken entity and the people that work for them are useless.
Harold of Millbury MA (05/17/08) Mail carrier stops mail for no notable reason. When the postmaster is called he doesn't respond and has staff say he's not in. Sent postal law official to my home on false complaints. Carrier is a serious crazy person and is unstable and violent.
My mail is not being delivered and no legal or viable reason is being given. The only answer I get is TOO BAD. I've been flipped off and insulted by the carrier a few times and nothing is done about it. He's scary.
Patricia of Chicago IL (05/13/08) No mail delivery whenever we have a substitute delivery person. This happens on average 12-15 times a year. Then when you call no one evers answers a phone and if they do they can't help you because that is not their zip code.
Elizabeth of Magnolia TX (05/12/08) i did not receive my passport like the delivery confirmation said i did. also i have been receiving mail belonging to other addresses for years and some for this address though no one by those names have everlived here. i have complained about this often and most recentloy i turned in this mail to the post office 2 times and told them not to deliver me this mail to my address. i gave the names of mark and elizabeth and for a limited time the name of vince to continue to deliver mail to my box. i stated i will notify them in the future when no longer to deliver the name vince to my mail address. a tall lady with brown short hair wrote this info down and told me she was the supervisor.
the next time i wrnt in a couple of weeks later and complained to a lady supervisor that the mail of other people was still coming to my address. a lady with shoulder length blond hair said she was the supervisor. she told me that these other people must have lived at my address prior to me. i told here we have been living at the address for 19 years and it was a bob and mary who lived there prior to us. she then told me well, you need to be careful, it looks like cases of identity theft. i found this statement to be out of line the way she said it..
i told her i have been here just a couple of weeks before complaining that her mail carrier is giving me other people's mail and i have been receiving the wrong mail for years despite my complaints and that other people are receiving my mail. she said again just to be careful because it looks like a case of identity theft.
a few days later after this i called the post office and told a worker i needed to talk to a supervisor because my passpoet delivery confirmation number shows that i received my passport when i did not. the lady who told me she was the supervisor took my confirmation number and said she would call me back. and she did after a minute or so . she told me i need to call the passport people because the number i gave her shows that my passport originated in hot springs arkansas and they don't have an office there. i told here what difference does it make where my passport is coming from. the fact is that it was confirmed that i received it when i did not. i told her the mail carrier probably gave it to someone else. she replied now i don't believe that because carol [i think that's who she said or a name similar to it] is a great worker and she would never do that. i then reminded her that i continue to receive others mail. then she told me again that i need to call the passport people and get the information on the correct confirmation number.
i do not think she was helpful and that she simply wanted to argue with me. i just told her i believe it was delivered to the wrong address and that it was in a priority envelope and that i would remember receiving that. she told me i believe you did receive it. i told her again that i did not and then i hung up. i made a complaint with usps using the 1 800 # on my passport info form and did not receive a call the following day as i was told i would.
i am out 101.50 that the passport cost me.
Jennifer of Lancaster SC (05/12/08) I am having to go to court concerning a letter that was never received. According to the tracking number, the USPS states it was delivered exactly one month after sending it certified delivery but I never once received the mail. It was sent to a street address in which I do not receive mail at, I use a PO Box for this reason.
Although it states delivered it was not delivered to me. I am now having to pay court costs and fees because the person sending the letter kept their certified receipt with the number only. This could have been avoided if I actually received this letter. The time it said it was received and delivered was during the day while I was working. I have no box to leave it in and no one at home during the day to sign or receive it unless they gave it to a neighbor and then that is breaking privacy laws!! I have never had to go to court before and now I am obligated to pay a hefty court cost because the USPS decided to mark it delivered but failed to follow through!
Large amount of fine that could have put food on my table, gas in my tank and care for my family. Also, the slander it has done to my good name and title which can possibly result in loss of job! I am paying over $500.00 that I do not have to spend on this stuff. It was not delivered.
Kelly of Kansas City MO (05/04/08) I wanted to amend a complaint I just sent. I have been having numerous issues with receiving the mail at my address and would like to add two events I forgot about. I didn't receive a credit card I applied for. The bank said it had been marked undeliverable although the address was correct.
Secondly, my boyfriend had his car insurance canceled for a short time because he didn't pay the bill on time because he never received it. Again, upon following up with the insurance company, the letter was marked undeliverable although the address was correct.
Kelly of Kansas City MO (05/04/08) We moved to this area about a year ago, and have had problems with receiving the mail ever since. We have not received bill statements sometimes (luckily I can view online), family members have sent cards to the address that were returned to them and marked address invalid or something along those lines, although the address on the envelope is correct. My employer sent me a check on 4/21/08 that I still haven't received (today is 5/3/08).
I have made numerous complaints to the carrier, called the branch office and spoken to the manager twice, called the main city branch and spoken with a manager, and finally called someone at corporate headquarters, who advised me to contact Consumer Affairs if the problem was not solved.
I also often receive mail intended for my neighbors (and I'm sure they do for us). I'm so worried about the mail I might not be receiving! We have started to have mail forwarded to my parent's address to ensure that we receive it. I'm kind of at my wits end and don't know what to do. Luckily we're moving soon, but now I worry the mail won't be forwarded after that.
Bills have been late because statements were not received, checks have had to be canceled and reissued, cards from family members were never received and I have had to spend a great deal of my personal time following up on issues that arose because of not receiving important mail
Paul of Barstow CA (05/04/08) Local carrier has refused to deliver mail when the front door is open. There is a security door and it is always locked. I have two dogs and they are behind the security door. The carrier came to the door and the dogs barked at him??? What are dogs supposed to do??? Theu could not get to him if they tried.
Wife called the local postoffice and talked to Hope. She stated that there was no reason for the carrier not to deliver the mail when the door was open. They said they would talk to him. It has done no good. He even put a note for the relief carrier not to deliver if the door was open.
We have lived in this location for 34 years and have had dogs most of the time and this is the first carrier that we have had trouble with. My wife and I are both in our 70's my wife has had one heart attack, and congestive heart failure and both knees replaced. I also have had 5 way heart by-pass surgery. The mail box is close to the door and has been for 34 years. Would appreciate any help on this situation
Christopher of Concord NC (05/03/08) problem with delivery on weekly publication national dragster i keep getting the runaround this has been an ongoing issue for at least a year publication watches are not working
i am layed off from my racing posistion and require the prompt delivery of national dragster for the classified ads section to seek employment
Michelle of Albuquerque NM (04/25/08) I purchased a new home, closing on February 28, 2008. On this same day I was instructed to go to the postal office location, indicated above, to request a key to my mail box. I went and completed the appropriate paper work and was told to return on March 11 for my key.
I returned and was able to use my key for a couple of weeks at which time it no longer worked. I returned to the post office and was told that they had accidentially changed the lock and that I would have to request yet another key, so for the the second time I completed the appropriate paper work for a new key and again was told to return in a couple of weeks.
From the time that I had a good key I never received any bills or correspondence from my mortgage company. And from the time that my key no longer worked to present, I have not received any mail, therefore, resulting in my bills being past due and having to pay late fees. I had to call every company to whom I knew I owed money in order to know what was due.
Yesterday, April 24, 2008, I once again returned to the post office to pick up my new key. I was told that it looked like they had changed the lock but there was no key, again I was asked to complete the paper work to request another key (third request). I inquired about where my mail was, they looked there at the post office and could not find it so I was told that perhaps it was going into another slot but they were not certain as the mail carrier who delivers my mail was still out. I was asked to leave my phone number and they would call me back in the afternoon to let me know what has happened to all my mail. I am still waiting for this phone call, 24 hours later.
I was also told to return on Saturday, April 26, 2008 and they would have a key ready for me, at this point I'm not very confident that they will. I am once again in the position of having to call various companies in order to find out what I owe them, I am frustrated and do not know where to go from here. Please help.
Theresa of Ft Myers FL (04/22/08) April 22,2008 On April 10, 2008, I sent an overnight express mail from the Page Field Post Office to a doctor in Westmont, Illinois. I was told the package would arrive there the following morning on April 11, 2008.
We just returned to Illinois and went to the doctor's office this morning (April 22, 2008) and she had not received the package which contained my hearing aid. Luckily we had insured it for $2500.00.
So today, I tracked the package and found that it did arrive in Westmont on April 11, 2008. The doctor's office is closed Friday afternoon and Saturday and tracking said they left delivery notice there. However they said at the office they never received any notices. I don't think it would be unreasonable to try to deliver that package again on Monday the 14th.
My husband went to the post office in Westmont this afternoon with the information I had found and said if they couldn't deliver it that we would be filing a claim for the insurance. Someone went out back and immediately found the undelivered express mail package. We paid $23.75 to have that package delivered overnight and WE are going to deliver it to the doctor's office tomorrow. If this package has been sitting in a bin at this post office all this time, how many other undelivered items are there over there.
This is not our first time with problems with mail at this post office. We pay more and more postage and get worse and worse service. I think maybe someone should be monitoring or checking the postal facilities to see that they are truly delivering the mail. I also wish you could bring the postmaster and the entire crew from Ft Myers Florida 33966 and transfer them to Westmont Illinois. They are really well run down there. thank you for hearing my complaint.
the package contained my hearing aid and it would have been ready for me if it had been received by my doctor. I am deaf and now I will be another week or ten days without it.
Juel of Belvedere SC (04/22/08) I get very slow delivery on first class mail for which I know the date of posting. I am now, 22 April, waiting for a club magazine I know was posted first class in England on 5 April. I used to get the magazine posted from British Columbia in 3 to 5 days. They used Deutsch-Post at that time and I was amazed at the better efficiency. yet it came to my mail box by the same U.S. Postal Service. Another complaint is the machines tear up my mail quite often and my mail is valuable to me.
Victoria of Hixson TN (04/21/08) I am having issues with my amil getting to me, the postal woman has on several occaions forgot to pick up my mail . and she is not doing this every once in awhile its all the time lately , recently i recieved a letter from the united states pennitentiry , in beaumont texas the federal pen , and the letter was not sealed and the letter was lost .

this prisoner my be just a number to anyone else but I do see him as a human being .. i want my mail .. and i want to know if the prison is at fault or the post office in which one or the other is , there is no excuse for this kind of abuse is what i would call it .. thank you
Murrah of Clarkdale AZ (04/16/08) I live in a town in Arizona where the US Postal Service does not deliver mail locally. It does deliver mail to some locations and these people do not have to pay for this service. The only way that I can get mail delivered is via a Post Office box which I have to pay $96 per a year for. Is there any way that I can get the $96 annual fee waived since there is no local delivery to my house?
Chad of Baudette MN (04/15/08) My wife purchased items that were supposed to be sent to our local post office by UPS. It was received and signed for by the post office on April 4, 2008 at 2:38pm. Delivery was then confirmed to the customer, but we did not received the package. I am very upset that the post office is not trying to work with me on this. UPS has been very pleasant to work with in trying to get us our package. The post master here just told me I guess I don't know what to tell you. I'm out of resources. This did not sit well with me.
I have yet to receive this package, and I am very unpleased with the postal system. If we can't trust the postal service to get us our mail, then what are we supposed to do.
Kathy of Homestead FL (04/05/08) I have lived at this address along with a lot of other people. The mail boxes are there and we have keys, but we still have to go to post office to pick up our mail. When will our mail be delivered? We have an address and the boxes are in place and we keys, so what's the problem?
Charron of Northampton MA (03/29/08) Missing Mail: I moved from one town to another in Western MA and did a family address change. My mother passed away, I still had mail in her name for comfort. Subscriptions that I paid renewal on. Instead no mail came. It was returned to sender as undeliverable. I was told because we had different last names. Then Kim called and said I better have legal proof to send that I am guardian but did not say where to send it to. My mother died on 3/06/07. I been getting her mail since then and I moved on 2/1/08. I am guardian of her estate. That is not the issue since I was getting her mail after she died.
When I closed the box at the window in Springfield I was told just to fill out a address form and check off family. The form does not say if names of family are not the same do a separate form. They refused to look up the info on file and stopped all her mail and are still refusing to send it. I am not getting her magazines and some come with new account charge credit offers that are now putting me in danger of fraud for any new tenant who gets it at my old address. I could not contact everyone directly to get it resent. Now they are still not sending the mail and it been now 8 weeks. They are ignoring all the change over form request. Now my mail magazines are not coming and missing. I been bounced around by email and phone and when I contacted the post master general they bounced me back to the department that's done nothing.
I been called by reps, giving no full names, only first. I was blamed for not doing an individual change card for family. I got this from a call from Cheryl. She said we did not have the same last name but that is not true, we had the box for over 25 years, 3 generations all using the same last name or as part of any other name. It is in the box renters file card record for the box holders. I bet they cannot find them or they are missing now.
Nigel of Brooklyn NY (03/15/08) Mailman is consistently not delivering mail. We will receive mail for random people in our box that is CLEARLY not our mail. I called the US Postal Inspectors office and they gave me the 1.800.ASKUSPS number to call. I called that number and they put me through to the local office. I called the local office and the manager told me to hold on one second, and a few minutes later the mailman was on the phone. The manager had left me to duke it out with the mailman. This is a constant in our building and to me it feels fraudulent.
I am missing netflix dvds that don't get delivered, and I don't know what other mail I don't receive. Obviously some bills go missing because I don't receive my monthly statements sometimes causing me to get late fees for late payments. I rely on receiving my mail so I can function properly. I have not received mail for the past two days. I don't know what to do as the USPS consumer complaint office is EXTREMELY unhelpful. I just went door to door in my building looking for my mail, netflix DVDs that were supposed to have been delivered two days ago. No one has my mail, but others have informed me that this has been a regular occurrence and their complaints have fallen on deaf ears. CAN YOU PLEASE HELP ME/US?
Robert of Bayonne NJ (03/12/08) I bought coins over the internet and they were shipped to me and delivered and Gonzalez signed for them. When I tracked them on line and they said they were delivered, I went to Gonzalez and they said they didn't get them.
Pamela of Jamaica NY (03/12/08) My family and I moved and I put in a change of address. Landlord started harassing my husband by leaving notes in the mailbox, BEFORE we moved. After we moved, we continued to check at our old address for any unforwarded mail -- there was plenty. I called the post office to inquire as to why our mail has not been forwarded. I was told that they did indeed have a change of address for my family, but the carrier was continuing to deliver the mail to the old address anyway and they weren't sure why. A month later (this past weekend), I again telephoned the post office and asked why I have not been receiving ANY mail. Their explanation? The carrier was still delivering to the old address AGAIN. I was told that they will 'attempt' to retrieve our mail from the old address. I again called to see did they retrieve any of our mail and they told me no. I AM STILL NOT GETTING ANY MAIL. Please also note that the old address and the new address share the same post office -- no brainer. I cannot attempt to retrieve our mail from the landlord because we are already threatening lawsuits against each other.
Rachel of San Francisco CA (03/09/08) Three days this week (week of March 2nd - Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday) we simply received no mail. In addition to that, a bank statement was 5 days late, causing some concern over possible mail and identity theft. On Wednesday and Friday, there were no mail personnel in sight, but on Saturday, the mailman was viewed one block away: No mail arrived, even though 3 items were due that day. We normally always receive some mail every day, even if it is just junk. It is plausible to not have mail on one day of the week, but not three, and not on two consecutive days when items were guaranteed for that day. It is outrageous to me that USPS considers it acceptable to just not deliver the mail. I know the flu is rampant right now, but if it IS the mail carriers are all down with the flu, then customers should be informed that there will be breaks in their service, and not just left to wonder where their mail is.
Imru of Arlington VA (03/06/08) I posted a package with priority mail to France on February 19, 2008. The package was not delivered. When I inquired with services, the answer was the package left the US on March 4, 2008. 15 days later. Nobody could explain why? Is it customary for the USPS to hold mail for 15 days while it charges $31.26 for a supposedly PRIORITY MAIL ? I WOULD LIKE AN ANSWER.
THE QUESTION IS IF IT WILL EVER BE DELIVERED? And that it has not been tampered with?
Kimberlee of Fort Worth TX (03/05/08) Package ordered, posted by sender, and never received by me, buyer. I used tracking number to track it down. USPS web site says delivery was attempted on ___ date, and notice left. I received no notice. I called 800 number for Post Office where I can pick up package or reschedule delivery. I am told PO will keep package for 15 days, then return to sender if not picked up or rescheduled for delivery. I called 2-3 times a day for the next FOURTEEN DAYS, with different stories EACH TIME as to location of my package. I am repeatedly told '____ is in charge of that; she'll call you back', with no returned call. Supervisor becomes rude when it becomes apparent I am not going to simply go away after version # 8 of 'what happened to my package'. I am told: the package had wrong address on it, the package was returned to seller (which seller denies), the package could not have been scanned on original delivery date, as postal worker was 'off that day', the package should 'be here SOMEWHERE', and, repeatedly, 'we'll call you back', which NEVER happened. If this is my tax dollars at work, I'd rather support a private delivery source. These folk act as though they are doing you a FAVOR by doing their jobs. If anyone working for me were this incompetent, they wouldn't have a job any longer.
Contents in package are meant for use in a wedding which occurs in 11 DAYS... still missing in action.
David of Chicago IL (03/05/08) Our business relies on the delivery of mail. Our offices are located in a building that contains many other offices and residences. When we received our mail today, we received two 'sorry we missed you' cards, which state that because we are not here, they will be delivering the packages at a later date. I made a phone call to the station that delivers our mail to complain that we were not contacted regarding these packages. The mail deliverer did not even attempt to contact us to sign for these packages. The supervisor to whom I was speaking defended the mail carrier by saying that she was substituting for someone on this route, and may not have known to call on the intercom to have someone sign for packages. When I tried to explain that this is a large building with many tenants, and that any mail carrier should know to contact tenants in some way, shape or form, she hung up on me. I did not get this individual's name, and when I called back to ask to talk to them again, no one answered the phone. I contacted the USPS to make a complaint, and they referred me to make this complaint with consumer affairs.
As a result of this individual's neglect to assist me over the phone, I have wasted 45 minutes of my work day trying to straighten it out. I understand that this is probably not something that Consumer Affairs typically deals with, but I would appreciate at least knowing that some form of communication about this complaint is submitted to USPS Chicago Loop Station.
Roody of Brockton MA (03/02/08) I received a letter from the Immigration (department of Justice) court informing me that they have sent me a letter in which I was supposed to appear in front of the court on February 20, 2008. Since I did not receive the letter I am now facing a fine. Pleas! help me to find the letter in order to prove to the Immigration Agent that I was not negligent but the main reason was I did not receive the letter. I never change my address, I always receive all my letters, please let me know what happened because this letter is very important for me. Thank you.
I am facing a fine of $585 and may face deportation. Sll this because I did not receive the letter which was sent to me.
Peter of Mckinney TX (03/01/08) My package was mailed Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008 from Irving, Texas to McKinney Texas (a 40-minute drive by car). Today is Saturday, March 1, 2008. Not only has the package not been delivered, it has not even reached the McKinney postal branch and it is nowhere to be found via the USPS stellar tracking system. I went to the McKinney, Texas USPS branch on I75 this March 1 Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. to inquire about the status of my package. Although the sign on the door for quick package pickup stated its hours of operation to be Sat. 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., low and behold, there was no one in earshot to help the gathering crowd. At 10:00 a.m., when the main lobby was opened for business, the mob inquired about the lack of service at the quick package pickup window, and were informed that the woman in charge of that window had accidentally turned off the service bell and was therefore unaware that there had been a group of people pounding at her door for over an hour. One postal carrier told me that the McKinney USPS is doing a mail count to determine the rate of pay for it's carriers for the year to come. Oddly enough, the delivery of parcels has suddenly diminished, which reduces the delivery count for the carriers (presumably to reduce wages) and inconveniences the public.
A friend shipped me a $260 hand-made drum that is currently missing in action. Status of the package does not show up in their tracking system even though the package was insured and a tracking number was issued. From my point of view, my goods have been stolen from the USPS.
Wayne of Kailua Kona HI (02/25/08) Mail Carrier does not deliver mail, leaves an attempt to deliver message even though we are home. We sign it, leave it in the box, and the package is still not delivered. The local P.O. fails to respond to our calls regarding this. Thank you.
Mail order drugs not received. Other packages not delivered.
Sonja of Troy IL (02/20/08) Many of us who are assigned to this particular mail carrier's route do not receive our mail. If a trash can is past the curb one inch they just pass our mail box up. Lots of us have called the post office to complain and all we are told is, "I'll talk to him" and we are back to square one. I think that it is very unfair for me to go out and remove my trash cans only to have the mail carrier not deliver my mail because my neighbor's trash can was sitting near the mail box. I feel helpless and like no one really cares about my concerns. Does anyone have any advice for me?
I have not received checks, important bills, and other articles of mail that were desperately needed.
Charles of Los Angeles CA (02/20/08) Mail not delivered on certain days. Sometimes two to three days. Mail delivered at 5 or 6 o'clock in the evening. Mail delivered to wrong house sometimes in the wrong block or on the wrong street.
Bills not delivered on time. Not getting important mail on time. Sometimes not getting it at all.
Wendy of Stow MA (02/19/08) Our neighborhood has not had any delivery of mail in almost a week. The last delivery of mail was on Wednesday February 13, 2008 and today is Tuesday February 19th. I called our local post office to inquire about the reason why there hasn't been any delivery and was treated rudely. They claim that the delivery truck was unable to drive up to the mailboxes due to snow and ice. However I was able to walk and drive my car directly up to my mailbox and check on the mail delivery everyday as well as place outgoing mail into my mailbox. The road in front of the mailboxes has been clear since last Thursday (2/14) afternoon. I was also told that our mail carrier doesn't work on Saturdays! Additionally, our mail doesn't get delivered in a timely manner on a regular basis. Often times we don't get delivery of mail until after 5:30pm or 6:00pm in the evening. When I asked if it was possible to come by and pick my mail up directly at the post office on Tuesday morning, I was told no and that it was on the truck already and there was nothing I could do.
I have been waiting for important travel information to arrive that had been mailed out last week and expected to receive it prior to me leaving on a trip for 6 days. I was never able to receive the information and now must travel without it making it very difficult. Also I as well as many neighbors have out going mail which has been sitting in our mailboxes for almost a week that will not get delivered in a timely manner due to the poor delivery service of our local post office.
Kimberly of Pontiac MI (02/15/08) The Pontiac Postal services refuses to deliver mail in my subdivision. I had to go to the post office to pick up my mail for the last few weeks. Weather conditions were stated as the reason why our neighborhood is being overlooked. The mail I do pick up at the office appears to be weeks behind. I believe my mail is being detained at the Pontiac post office. The decision not to provide service for weeks at a time is unacceptable.
Fidelity investment mailed a letter to me which should have arrived at the post office or at my door on 2-7-08, I still have not seen the letter. I had to place a stop payment on the enclosed check due it being lost or detained. The service and/or treatment is not fair for those affected residents.
Sandra of Los Angeles CA (02/13/08) The postal worker refused to leave my parcel with my apartment manager, even though I filled out a form authorizing it. She phoned me and stated she would not deliver.
I have not received my consumer goods I paid for.
Peggy of Newhall CA (02/12/08) The WORST service ever for 3 yrs. plus. Packages rarely delivered, as the postal carrier does NOT even bother to ring the door bell to see if I am even home. He just sticks the pink slip in the door, which forces me to either drive clear to the other side of town to pick up packages unnecessarily- or be forced to wait all day for packages to be delivered that require a signature. If I call to reschedule a delivery, more often than not the package is NOT even delivered AGAIN- which happened to me today for a package that was supposed to be delivered last SATURDAY! Now I have to sit around and wait for it AGAIN tomorrow!! The manager of the Newhall, CA USPS called me today and was not at all sympathetic- or displaying an attitude conducive to correcting these problems.
My mail is constantly jammed in my mailbox with smaller packages, and half the time I can't get it open! I was told that it is not the USPS policy to deliver the smaller packages at the front door, which is insane and that the only way I can avoid having my mailbox jammed shut, is to drive to the other side of town every day to pick up my mail personally. I do NOT understand why USPS is allowed to be rude and ABUSIVE to me, or any other customer! I also receive other peoples mail on a semi regular basis, which also jams my mailbox. Last month, I received mail for ELEVEN different people on one day! Please HELP.
Danielle of Philadelphia PA (02/12/08) I am not receiving my mail. The only common denominator is the above mentioned post office. I have sent letters to myself that I have never received. My job is in new york and they sent my w2 with my social on it and I have not received that either. I spoke with someone named bernadette and she just put me back with Julie who was very nasty with me, only responding with an are you done yet. I called back and spoke with Stan Shulman and he said that it was someone being malicious and he was going to inspect the route the postal carrier took.
My social security number is floating out there. I will never know the amount of mail I am not getting if I do not get it.
Tyeasha of Mansfield LA (02/12/08) I was expecting a package and received an e-mail on 02/11/08 stating that it had been delivered on 02/09/08 at 3:37, so I called my local post office. I was told that my area's mail person had already gone out and to check back in the morning. I decided to call back that evening. Mr. Hunter told them that he had talked to me and had given me the mail, which was a lie. I left work (SHreveport, LA) and went to talk to him. He said that he put it in someone's mailbox and that he has too much to do to sort through all of the mail. My response was, 'Why are you a mailmain?" He was slurring the whole time due to intoxication, just as when he delivers the mail. He told me to check with my neighbors or people address similar to mine and see if they have it. I told him that I would be visiting the mail office in the am, he said he wouldn't be in. Low and behold I got to the office on 02/12/08 and he had called in sick. Mr. Boose, postmaster and the clerk were especially nice but I am still out of my money. I feel that he should be punished, suspended or something because this is not the first time.
Elise of Los Angeles CA (02/10/08) I have had many days with no mail delivery. I was told no one likes to walk up the hill.
They lost my work check.
Mike of Los Angeles CA (02/08/08) We recently moved our mailbox closer to our house after the drive to our house was reconstructed. Our mail carrier decided the mailbox was too far and would affect his/her route. I spoke with a supervisor and he said I have to move the mailbox back where it was - on property that someone owns and plans to build on. Why they can't simply drive up the 100 yard road to deliver our mail is incomprehensive and symbolizes the quality of workers the USPS hires. We refuse to move our mailbox back and they refuse to put mail in our mailbox. What does one do?
Margarete of Hayesville NC (02/03/08) Mail delivery was very sparse or NON-EXISTENT for the week January 28-February 2, 2008 at zip code 28904 for one mail carrier's route. For 28, 29 and 30 of January the delivery was very sparse to say the least (meaning my delivery consisted of 1 humana catalog, one small supermarket flyer and one packet.) 31 January and 1 February we had NO MAIL DELIVERY AT ALL. On February 2, Saturday, the mail was delivered sometimes during the night and consisted of 1 income tax statement which was of course of importance, and it said it right on the envelope. This neighborhood is outraged. There are many elderly or blind people living here, but also business people. I think it is against the law to hold mail for days and not to deliver it.
Many people, including myself either called or went to the post office. The supervisor was never available. The excuse from the clerks always was that the regular mail carrier is on vacation for the week. I spoke to the substitute carrier on Wednesday, January 30 at 7:30 at night (that's when she delivered the mail) and she stated that the route is just to big for one substitute. HOW ABOUT DIVIDING THE ROUTE IN HALF AND USEING 2 SUBS? I did not get any personal mail, 3 weekly newspapers, no advertisement... NOTHING! This is an ONGOING issue here, and we are all worried with the summer month up on us and all workers using up their vacation. I do not blame the workers, but feel it is the supervisors responsibility to make sure the mail delivery takes place six days a week at a reasonable time (not during the night on Saturday).
Marjorie of New Orleans LA (01/07/08) The post office here will not deliver certified mail. They only deliver a piece of paper and when you sign it you never get the mail. Additionally, we can go for days without getting mail. Time to stop blaming Katrina and get competent workers.
I have had two seperate pieces of certified mail NOT delivered though I am home and have a doorbell. When I sign the back and ask for redelivery they are not delivered. I asked the mailman and his response is it's at a different mail center so I don't HAVE to deliver it
Charles of Brandon FL (01/02/08) I ordered a oxygen (piece) mask for a c-pap machine which is used in breathing support during sleep at night from Respironics of Richmond,Va. They sent the products and the post post office here in Brandon, FL recieved it and suppossidly delivered it to our correct address box last Dec.21, 2007 with tracking number. I've talked to the delivery supervisor and she said they can't do anything about since it was not insured. I never received the product. What recourse do I have for their incompetentcy?
Gerry of Fitzwilliam NH (12/27/07) I cannot possibly believe that a package was sent from Florida to New Hampshire first class mail and it took 18 days to get here via FIRST CLASS MAIL. If I had known that this would have happened I would have asked the sender to us a different carrier. I assumed (wrong on my part) that the UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE could have gotten this 1st class parcel here for Christmas in the 15 days that were there from the day the item was mailed. They advertise 4 to 5 day service and I get 18 day service that is about a 300% increase in time.
Perfect conditions, no problems, just that one Christmas present that could not be given and now the person receiving the gift is in Falls Church VA.
Susan of Mesa AZ (12/19/07) I mailed A Priority Package from Mesa, Dobson Station Post Office to Waukesha, WI 53186 on Dec. 10, 2007 at 8:31 AM. Next, it was processed Dec. 10, 2007, 5:51 pm Phoenix, AZ 85026, It was processed Dec 12, 2007, 6:30 pm, Des Moines, IA 50395, Next it was processed Dec. 14, 2007 7:48 am, Forest Park, IL 60130 after another 5 days it was processed Dec. 19, 2007 6:36 am, Bell, CA 90201. This package is properly addressed, and it has yet to reach Waukesha, WI 53186.
My complaint is that this package is being delayed and sent all over the country. I paid the extra money for the priority and for the Delivery Confirmation. I have tried to get through to the Postal Customer Service to get to the bottom of this problem. But due to our Modern Technology I am not allowed to speak to a person Because The Package Is Still On It's Way To It's Destination is what the recording says. How many more times will this package be sent all over the country? Money can not replace the value of this Christmas present addressed to my 87 year old dad - I put in many, many hours on making his present because it comes from my heart. It is over 9 days now. I want to know what the problem is. I either want it returned to myself or preferably, I want this package delivered to where it should have been delivered 8 days ago. All I get is the run around from the Post Office.
I am afraid that my package is being trashed from as many States it's already been sent to. Apparantly Wisconsin isn't on their map!
Dr of Liberty Township OH (12/14/07) I went to the post office and sent avaluable gift ($1600) to Cairo, Egypt to an important lady with a note that it must be delivered to her. I paid the fees and insurance for the total amount. The package was sent the same day from Cincinnati and arrived after two weeks to New Jersey and after several weeks it arrived in Cairo, Egypt. The lady I sent the present denies that she received it. After several complaints and writing reclaimations, USPS told me that the delivery was made. I asked to see who got my present they sid that they dont know, and an USPS worker in New Jersey or in New York said that if I want they can give me back the 5 or 6 dollars I paid for the insurance and she doesn't care about the lost package . After more than ten reclaimations and two or three years, I have no news and I'm sure that the gift was stolen or lost. I have all the copies of the letters sent to USPS. I told them if I give you a $1600 check with a name on it are you going to give the money to someone else?
I lost $1600 and more important the gift was sent to a princess for her birthday. She never forgave me this mistake and doesn't talk to me anymore.
Anthony of Stoughton MA (11/18/07) A very important certified check arrived via certified mail on 11/17/07. The carrier arrived after 5pm for the regular mail delivery. The house lights were on and I was waiting outside for the mail. I witnessed the mail carrier pull up to the mailbox and drive away as I walked down to the mailbox. The carrier left a form saying, "Sorry we missed you," without making any attempt to deliver the certified letter. This deliberate dereliction of duty and unwillingness to spend 1 minute to properly deliver an extremely important document has caused me significant financial damage.
The gross negligence of the mail carrier forced me to reschedule an out of town flight (with penalty to me) and jeopardized a business agreement. Instead of closing a real estate transaction over the weekend, I now will have to miss work due to the change in travel plans caused by the mail carrier's failure to do his job.
Adam of Davis, CA (10/06/07) I submitted a change of address that the post office confirmed/accepted/processed on September 11th. They say it should take 10 to 14 days for mail to start being forwarded. It's now October 6th and I've received one postcard and one magazine. I'm absolutely sure I have 50 pieces of outstanding mail.
I haven't received my last two paychecks. The first check is almost 3 weeks late now.
I've called USPS at least 7 times and very time I call, I'm told to "just wait". If the USPS says they will deliver something by a certain date, and THEY DO NOT, they should have a better policy for addressing customer concerns.
Matt of Ft Wayne IN (06/15/07)
I placed an order for live tropical fish last month, expensive fish that were sent express overnight. When they did not show up at my door by the guaranteed noon deadline I began calling the shipper and everyone in the USPS that I was told to contact. No one could or really wanted to help. Their tracking system consists of their website, which was no help whatsoever. Every time I asked if the employees had any update they would log on to the website and check even after I asked them to contact someone else that might be able to help.
It was about 10 days before the package was supposedly found. The shipper was informed that the box had been destroyed and would be thrown away. I was never informed of anything. I have never received any information, except from the shipper, that the box was not going to be delivered. The contents were not fully insured, so I understand why they would not give back the entire price of the fish.
I am now out my initial money for the fish as well as the time and money it has taken to contact the USPS, many hours and even a day off of work while waiting for the fish to arrive.
Cynthia of Tucson AZ (12/28/06) What has and is continuing to happen is that I am not getting my mail. I am missing Christmas cards sent with money and or checks, I'm also missing checks and a bank card sent from my bank which I have had to cancel and re-order for a second time, also my car insurance was dropped once in the past because I didn't get my bill, last years Birthday card with money for me was never received by myself or returned to the sender, the list goes on.......... I have been to the annex from which my mail is sent to before it is handed off to my postal carrier to deliver and they have assured me that they don't hold my mail yet time and time again, mail that I am expecting from many different sources is not delivered to me.
I have lived in these apartments for well over a year now, my name is on the box where it can be seen by the postal carrier, yet I can never depend or even expect to get the mail that I know has been sent to me.
Car insurance dropped, I have to go to the bank to do my banking because I can't seem to get my checks or bank card that the bank has tried to get to me through the mail, not to mention that family has been distraught over money sent to me for Birthday or Christmas that I never get and they never get back.
Kathleen of Orland Park IL (12/14/06) I have not received my forwarded mail at my new address. I moved from Naperville, IL to Orland Park, IL. After days of busy signals to 630-717-2662 at the Naperville post office, I finally got through. They took my info and told me to hold. I was on hold for 30 minutes and finally hung up.
I have not received any mail. I know I have credit card statements, utility bills, etc. due. I have had to call each one and explain that I cannot find my mail.
Theresa of Vancouver WA (09/24/06) Over the last couple of years I have noticed a steady decline in my postal service. It started with occasional non-delivery of mail. Then I would not recieve package notices. Now, my mail is sporadic at best and I recently came home from a vacation (less than 2 weeks) and found that the carrier had listed my residence as vacant.
Chris of Tampa FL (09/19/06) On several ocassions the USPS doesn't deliver prioirty mail to the residence. Just today (4th time) I went to check online status of the delivery of my package and it said that within 2 minutes ago they tried to deliver my package and a notice has been left. I have been sitting within 5 feet of my front door all morning and no one has come to my door and no notice has been left! I pay for the service but the USPS only delivers when it pleases to do so. I think the postal employee merely signs for delivery and doesn't deliver it so the customer has to go down to the post office and pick it up.
Maryann of New Paltz NY (08/22/06) I am constantly receiving mail for 272 Rt 32 NORTH, I live on Rt 32 SOUTH. I know he gets my mail because I've seen the notes left on the envelopes to deliver it to the correct address. I know there also is mail that I'm not getting at all.
I was just informed that I'm in collections because I didn't pay a doctor bill - I never paid it because I never received it! She said they sent several notices. I didn't receive any. These aren't only bills I haven't recieved. I go months sometimes with no credit card statements. Where is my mail going? I can only imagine, knowing the shear amount of wrong mail placed in my box how much mail I'm not getting.
Jeff of Cape Coral FL (08/10/06) Two weeks ago I moved across town. I filed a change of address online and I received my email confirmation that it was done successfully. The first day at my new address I received two bills and a magazine that I had already updated addressing on. After this I have not received any mail at my new address. I contacted USPS and they said there was a problem with the mail forwarding and they got this fixed. I mentioned not receiving any mail at all even mail addressed to my new address and I was told that this was a seperate issue and not something she could do anything about.
A few days later and still no mail I called the 1-800 number again and was told that I would begin receiving mail but mail that had not been received in the past two weeks was not their responsibility but they should turn up. 2 1/2 weeks since moving I am still not receiving any mail and I know I was supposed to have received a few packages from family as house warming gifts.
Brian of San Francisco CA (08/03/06) I have not received certain pieces of my mail lately; specifically my paycheck and my Netflix movies. They just don't seem to make it to my mailbox. There is no evidence of tampering with the mailbox at all. I am of the suspicion that someone at the Post Office is taking my stuff. All my bills and my magazines seem to make it...just DVDs and checks seem to disappear.
Nicole of Myrtle Beach SC (07/30/06) On occasion several months ago the driver drove up to delivery mail and told me to move my d*** car. I filed a complaint but nothing happened. Now on Friday July 28 I checked my mail that morning and nothing was in the box, then that afternoon I rechecked she had left a note saying I had to go to the post office to pick up my mail due to my mail box full. It was empty except for the note which was dated 7/25/6.
Tonya of Inglewood CA (07/19/06) The mail man is not delivering the mail. He is passing up our whole apartment complex of 36 units. My neighbor complained to no avail. I am a concerned disabled citizen and I can't purchase my medicine and my utilities are being shut off. I depend on the mail.
P of Fitchburg MA (07/11/06) Ongoing mail delivery issues when our regular carrier is on vacation. Mail is delivered to the wrong box or just not delivered. I've filed numerous complaints and they get swept under the rug and the regular carrier gets threatened that he will lose his job. Missing important mail has caused financial problems including losing a special rate with the utility company (failure to respond to a letter they sent) and losing my healthcare insurance (failure to respond to a letter they sent, also). There is no place to go to complain. Online complaints are forwarded to the local post office which is the offender in the first place!
Guruprasad of Mt Pleasant SC (06/24/06) I had to go out of the country for a few months and I put in a temporary change of address from Jan 31st to May 8th. Some of my mail comes and some doesn't. I havent received my credit card bills and insurance bills. All of them are calling up my phone number ( thank god it works ) to check if I have moved out. Luckily for me none of them went to Collections. I am trying to get USPS understand that I still live at the same old address but it's like I am talking to a brick wall. No use. I am just not being heard. The local post office says they are delivering everything they get.
Natasa of San Franicsco CA (06/07/06) I moved to San Francisco in Sept 2005 from Boston MA. On this new address, I would estimate that about 1/3 of my mail is not being delivered to me. This includes both the mail forwarded from my Boston address, and the mail addressed directly to my new San Francisco address. This has also included a lot of financial mail (bank statements, credit card statements, personal checks from a tenant to whom I am renting the apartment in Boston), tax-related mail and some important documents. Some of this mail has been returned to senders, and some of it has been apparently delivered to somebody else (for example, in the lobby of my apartment building in San Francisco, there is a large heap of junk mail and misdelivered mail. In this heap, with a delay of several weeks, I recently found my fairly substantial federal tax refund check).
I complained about this to the local USPS supervisor, without any result. What else can I do to have my mail delivered to me? I wish to emphasize once again: misdelivery or loss of my mail, or returning to sender (despite correct address) has not happened occasionally, but has been happening practically every day.
Major potential for identity theft, and financial theft (my financial documents and tax-related documents, with my social security number and various other identifying information, are apparetnly being delivered to somebody else); potential for loss of various kinds of important mail.
Marie of Alviso CA My complaint is not so much about the service that I received from a postal employee, it is about the U.S. Postal Service charging the people in our city of Alviso to get our mail. I don't think that it is fair that we are not offerd door to door delivery like other cities. so we have to RENT a box for them to put our mail in, then we have to go to the post office and pick it up, it is bad enough that we have to pick up our mail but to have to pay for them to put it in a box? I don't understand this. How can people in other cities get their mail delivered right to their door and not pay for anything?
As a result of this unfairness, there are many seniors that have a hard time getting their mail as many of them don't or can't drive and the post office is a distance from some of their homes and walking to the post office is hard on my legs sometimes as I have osteoarthritis in both of my knees, so sometimes I need to drive over to the post office which costs me again as I use gas when I use the car.
Roosevelt of Gretna LA (05/15/06) The carrier states that he cannot put mail into my box because a car is blocking his way. That is bull. I have not received mail in 5 weeks.
Annette of Revere MA (04/27/06) I have had a complaint in to the local postal service since December 2005. It seems my mail is being sent back and or being delivered to another address. Names are clearly marked on this 1 family house and still not getting mail. What am I to do? I have called my local Revere office to no avail.
I have missed payments on all my bills and have not received my social security and payroll check. Just today my neighbor next door delivered my husbands paycheck. We are both elderly and have been made sick of the way we have been treated. I have called my local consumer affairs office to place a complaint. Well she told me she would mail out the complaint form 2 weeks ago. I have still not received that.
Dan of Benton AR (04/17/06) In the last few months many important items have not been delivered. I am still waiting on the second try of our mortgage papers that were never delivered (mailed Feb 10th). January the papers mailed from the car dealer were lost and had to be sent overnight (non-USPS) to get my registration completed. We now pay our bills online to avoid the lost checks. What can be done about this?
Late fees on payments, held registration info on my new truck. Many items sent by my family never arrive. We now call to insure mail or packages get delivered. We only use USPS as last resort.
Charles of Westbrookville NY (04/14/06) A letter properly addressed to my business was returned to the sender. We are in an area that does NOT deliver mail, we have to pick it up at the post office,(sub station). This by itself is absurd, but if there is no box # on the address, someone in the Main post office in Port Jervis did not direct the mail properly. This is simply stupid & needs to stop.
Melbi of Pomona CA (04/02/06) It has been one week and no mail. This postworker came last week and entered my secured gate, saw my dog and ran away scared. leaving my gate open so the dog can escape. Which resulted in my dog getting run over by a car. the next day till this day I have never seen any mail. I called the post office and they said they will call me back -- still waititng.
I lost a friendly dog who never barked at anyone. I run a law office for my mom and did not receive affidavit for her court case Monday morning. If you know how importand mail is!!!......Why is this happening to me?
M of Dallas TX (03/28/06) I have maintained the same post office box at this USPS substation continuously since 1986. The service at this substation has deteriorated to the point that it is no longer worth maintaining a box there. After a very serious situation about a Hold Mail form which I filled out and personally handed to a person at the window of this very station, this substation actually kept the Held Mail in a box beneath my P.O. Box for 6 weeks after the expiration of my Hold Mail order. This caused absolute chaos and significant business disruption to me personally and to my company.
One of the assistant mgrs. of this substation finally looked in the box sitting beneath my po box (after numerous complaints from me and statements by the postal people that no mail was lost or being withheld)5 weeks after the expiration of my form and handed me 3 bundles of rubber-banded mail with postmarks from mid August, 2005. This was in September, 2005. There is an average of 1-2 items of mail put in my mailbox every week that is properly addressed to another mailbox.
I write on each delivered to wrong PO box and give them back to the PO. I have no idea if they put them in the correct box or throw them away to destroy the evidence. In yesterday's mail, March 27, 2006, I received in my po box -- for the first time -- the following: my original bill from SBC Corp bearing a billing date of September 19, 2005; a written confirmation of a class my daughter enrolled in for July, 2005, which card has a ppostmark of July 5, 2005; an a monthly statement from Fidelity Investments for the period January 1-31, 2006.
Except for yesterday's mail, I have either filed a formal complaint with USPS and/or met with the station manager, evidence in hand. Basically the response we goofed, we'll try to do better. Meanwhile, postage rates increased by 10% with if anything a deterioration in service. The USPS is incredibly inefficient and the average citizen is finally realizing this. Abolish the post office and bring in private enterprise. Personally, I'm putting everything online and asking all clients to FAX materials to me or scan them in online. I cannot afford to run a business with a 3rd world postal system.
we lost credibility with one client when they received no response from a letter (this was one held for 6 weeks after the expiration of my Hold Mail form); I incurred late fees with SBC and spent HOURS of my personal time trying to right that situation. I called yesterday to cancel the art class which, understandably I thought was for this summer since I just received the confirmation. Right off the cuff, she shared with me 4-5 hairraising situations she had incurred in her business with USPS. She subsequently has migrated her constituent correspondence to the telephone or the internet.
Michael of Groveton NH (01/08/06) I had to leave my residence in a hurry for a family situation. It took a little time to resolve the matter (usually deaths do). I had someone collect our mail for us but upon returning home only received one piece of mail. I inquired to the post ofice why we were not getting our mail. The postmaster said she thought we had abandoned the house and that it was protocall afer ten days that all mail be returned, we live right behind the post office. Lights were left on and cars parked in the driveway. I was dumbfounded by the mess I had to come home to.
Bills returned to sender, checks from receivables returned to sender. I spent days trying to get everything straightened out.
Janice of San Pedro CA (04/30/05) On April 17th or 18th I mailed a birthday card, correctly addressed, to my sister in Canada so it would have plenty of time to reach her for her birthday, May 2. On April 29th the card was returned to me with the notation - Return, Insufficient Address. This envelope was received at the post office in Long Beach on April 19th, and in Alexandria, LA on April 22nd. This morning I took this card to the Main Post Office in San Pedro, where I was given the runaround by no less than three Post Office Employees. The first one blamed Canada, the second one asked me dumb questions such as, When did you mail it? and Have you sent other mail to this address? I have, but since it bore the correct address, it wouldn't have mattered if it was the first piece of mail I had sent to Canada. When I asked for a complaint form, the last employee said they did not have any. None of these employees offered me an apology. I realize that none of them was to blame, but nevertheless it is customary, in private business, to at least say one is sorry for the error.
Julie of San Diego (10/29/04):
Since moving to this neighborhood our dogs have gone nuts when the mail carrier approaches the front door to deliver the mail. They never reacted this way to people (or mail carriers) approaching the house before. We believe the current mail carrier for our neighborhood antagonizes dogs and have spoken to other homeowners in the neighborhood who have similar thoughts.
After coming home from a walk on 10/26/04 we (me, and the 2 dogs) crossed the street in full view of this mail carrier. He continued to approach as we were entering the house - once the older dog noticed him, he jumped onto the grass and began barking at him. Our dog did not bare his teeth, lunge at him, or get within 20 feet of this carrier.
The carrier screamed "GET BACK" frantically and repeatedly as I walked over to get the dog. I walked up (by now my dog had stopped barking and was more curious than anything) and told him that of course dogs were going to react like that (barking) if he screamed at them... then I noticed he was about to mace my dog. His hand was on the mace canister and THAT made me furious.
I told him that he needed to not yell at my dog, that my dog was good and he could expect all dogs to react like this if he wigged out all the time in front of them. He mumbled something about the Police (if they were around mumble mumble mumble) and that my dog should be on a leash... well we were, we were just coming in off a walk and were entering our house when he approached us.
I told him to calm down and that he didn't need to yell, especially in front of dogs if he didn't want them to react or bark. He turned around and walked away and since then we have not received any mail. I've called the local post office to complain and was told to give it another day, that he was running late. We're still waiting for our mail and getting more frustrated as each day goes by. We have not been contacted by the Post Office (thinking this idiot could have lodged his own complaint) to date.
William of Elma WA (10/26/04):
We have been having problems with our mail carrier. On numerous occasions he failed to deliver our packages to our home. My wife went to the post office and complained -- she filled out a complaint form the carrier called our hous to apologize. This is the same carrier that instead of bringing your package to your door, he sits in his car and honks the horn.
Boy I am glad UPS doesn't sit in their truck and honk the horn -- how unprofessional. Now I am missing packages again -- I have the senders checking with there postal service and the problem keeps coming back to our mail carrier. They are paid good money to do their jobs and that is what they need to do. Obviously going to the post office and complaining does not change things.
Elizabeth of Columbus IN (10/26/04):
I have on several ocasions complained to my local post office about my rural mail carrier. She left a certified mailing in her personal vehicle overnight instead of returning it to the post office, she "lost" a certified mailing that has NEVER been found and she delivers mail sometimes too late for my mail to be actually delivered same day. She has shown up at my home at or past 5 p.m. and I am at least 40 minutes from the post office. Therefore, my mail does not go out the same day.
The carrier sometimes does not deliver mail to my home. We have had mail in the box not be picked up and also the carrier is not delivering my mail. I run a small home business. I have had 5 VENDORS send me catalogs that have never been delivered. I find it hard to believe that ALL of those are just being "lost" some place? It is very frustrating to continue to have to contact these vendors to tell them I still have not received their products.
When we have a "sub" driver my mail arrived promptly no later noon or 1p.m. even on Saturdays! I have been told by another postal worker at the Columbus location that my particular carrier is just lazy and likes to take a lot of smoke breaks.
Genifer of Antioch CA (10/23/04):
The postman will not deliver mail to my address because we had an argument. He's trying to use my dogs as an excuse to not deliver the mail and that's not right. My dogs are always chained up and one you can't even see because he's tied up in the back yard. I have witnesses can tell you that the dogs are always tied up when the mail man feels like delivering the mail.
I feel that the postman on this route is abusing his power. He also doesn't deliver all the mail here, when he was delivering the mail. My child care provider lost his trustline license, and I lost my child care provider because we did not receive a certified letter. We have not received mail here in over two weeks now. I cannot resolve the issue here with the post office, because of course, his supervisor is taking his side. He's saying that he didn't deliver the mail because he didn't know if the dog was tied up, we got into an argument about it and I asked for mail and he flat out told me he wasn't going to give me my mail.
This is causing financial and other hardships for all the people that receive mail at this address. Another postman delivered the mail on Thurday, Ocotber 21, 2004. He checked everything out and stated that he used to deliver the mail here before and never had any problems. My grandmother has lived here for over 40 years and is 73 years old. The postman has caused her great distress. They want me to sign a first offense dog letter, but I don't feel that I should because I didn't do anything wrong.
Roger of Athens GA (9/28/04):
I moved my business 9/1/04, I filled out a change of address shortly before, I didn’t know if I was going to get the space due to the roof leak. My location is in the rear of the parking. The post office delivered the mail to the new location till 7/17/04 -- they didn’t have a mail box, the mail was put in the handle on the door.
I was told by the carrier I needed to put up a box. My landlord told me I could not put up a box on his building because of the mural painted on the side of the building and I needed to put it on my store front. I met with the carrier's supervisor and I was under the impression the mailbox problem was resolved. On the 17th I hadn’t received any mail and I called and met with another supervisor who told me I had to put up another box next to the street.
I do not feel this is an option, I have a bar across the street, a tattoo parlor and Athens downtown has a homeless problem. I filled out a change of address to my home, left one in the post office and filled out 2 online. As of today, I have not received a bill, check, statements or conformation for any of the coa’s I have filled out. I changed my address with my credit card company, requested a copy of my statement (17th) and I still have received no mail.
I don’t know what to do to resolve this problem, I have called the 800 number 6 times and have received nothing more than a number. It is not easy to operate a business without mail and this is all because a carrier won’t walk across a parking lot to deliver my mail to a location they have serviced for years. I don’t know what to do, I have checks floating around, that I need to pay the bills that are floating around with the checks.
