Movie Fans Suspect Foul Play at the Post Office

Norma of Ny NY (07/08/08)
Recently I help a friend mail out a book she sold in ebay. the book was not a expensive book (under $5). I mailed it neatly wrapped in brown paper and the book had a plastic bag over it before the paper was wrapped over it for mailing. I mailed i via media mail. I make sure I get the window clerk that is good before I approach to the window for stamp purchase.

Today my friend told me that the buyer of the book filed a complaint on the book saying [Hi Norma, Do you think we should give the buyer a refund or send her a replacement? It sounds like the PO inspected the content and repackaged it. Another reason I don't like media mail. This is what the buyer wrote to me:

This book was received by my daughter inside of a re-packaged by USPS envelope. The inside packge from you was oil soaked and black inside with some kind of dirt. The plastic surrounding the book just barely saved it from destructiton. From the packing tape, it was apparent that the package was taken to the post office by you in this deplorable condition. ]

I know I did not mail it with oil soaked and black mark on it. I also know usps won't accept package unless it is properly packaged. what should I do? Now not only our end lost in postage fee, we also lost in other things that went with the selling of the book. I need your help. I want to file a usps complaint. This was a small book paper back. I think it was the fault of usps. if they damage things that item should be returned to the sender not keep forward it to the receiver. I need help and advise. please reply

I sold an item on ebay, packed in a large cardboard box 2-3 priority mail. Week and a half later a gets a email from receiver saying the the box was damage and he refused it and sent it back. Now i'm in awwws because this is a big cardboard box well packed. So week later i receive a letter with the top of the box i sent with my name and receiver name and a few stamps from usps saying the are sorry my package was damage in mail.

So i open the letter and they want me to fill out this form of lost mail and discribe what was in my package. No the puzzle is, HOW DID THE TOP OF THE BOX GET REMOVE? My guess is after receiver refused it the usps knew they had damage it and somebody had to pay to have it shipped back to me and to elimimate them spending their money they just cut the top of the box and mail it with letter.

So i have filled out letter and sent it back to minnisota which is the lost mail recovery center. It's been two weeks and nothing yet. My main problem is the reciever should have accepted the box knowing even after the usps had damage the box there was nothing in it that could have been damage. Everything was solid iron. No receiver wants me to refund his money because of all this. I did my part and box shipped it. He refused it and sent it back and now it's lost.

I'm without parts and a dispute with ebay.

Two days ago, we went to our post office box, unlocked it, and removed one of your 9x12 mailing envelopes. The lower right hand corner of had been completely torn off and was missing.Any amount of the original contents which consisted of cruise travel documents and a refund check could have fallen through the opening! We have no way of knowing if some of the contents are missing and necessary for our trip The amount of the postage was $4.60. We have contacted the issuing travel agency, but our agent is not presently at work. Fortunately, the check was still contained. If this is typical of the US Postal Service, we want no more of it. Can you think of any possible excuse for this careless and destructive handling?

We Don't know yet of what economic damages sustained, but hope we can before our cruise leaves.

I ordered a vintage cassette recorder off ebay. Seller was kind enough to send it priority, and it arrived in only a couple days, but was left IN THE STREET! That's right. In the street. Not on the front steps, or back porch where UPS or Fedex leaves packages, but IN THE STREET! I woke up this morning, looked out my front window, and there it was. The street was also wet from melting snow. Package was soaked. I've complained so many times but there is NOTHING that can be done short of privatizing the USPS. No matter how badly they do their jobs, they still get payed, which defies all logic. One postmaster even admitted that they can't fire certain employees if they are veterans. These tend to be the most abusive employees.

Item is broken but probably due to impact not water. Does not play, rewind, or fast forward. Seller says it was tested and worked fine before sending it. Seller has NO negative feedback from hundreds of other transactions so I believe him.

I had a 1/4 of my home effects smashed by UPS and when I called them to inform them of this they sent an inspector out to see the damages. He commented that it was the worst he had ever seen. I then called them a week later only for them to give me complete and utter garbage about the way my things were packed. I called them again the next day for an update only for them to tell me the boxes I used were used ones. I told them I bought them brand new in the UK and they told me that because I did not pack them in front of them in their depot that they were used boxes therefore the claim was being denied.

I called back again the next day only to be told that there was insufficient padding around the inside of my boxes now this really baffled me because all the boxes were empty when the inspector viewed them and I called them back yet again only to be told they were not sealed properly when they left the UK. I had sealed each box with a full roll of packaging tape but when my boxes arrived at my home in the states they were sealed with ordinary clear tape I called them back again only to be told because i did not have any insurance on my goods i was not entitled to anything. The point is whether I had insurance or not it does not give then carte blanche to smash up my property. I called then back again only to be told this time I would only get $100 for all the damages. Again I called them and they told me that it was not their fault but it was the fault of the company who contracted them to deliver my goods. I contacted the company and they are saying it is not their fault as the boxes were in perfect condition when they left their depot. I have had enough of their lies and as such should be brought to justice.

We have over $6800 worth of damaged goods and we had cuts to our fingers and feet from all the broken glass that was in the boxes and fell out of them.

Large mail carts were left unsecured by employees. The winds over the weekend caused them to travel downhill across a parking lot to the K-Mart where they impacted our auto, doing damage. Initially they were cooperative, but now are trying to block any reasonable effort to complete a claim to get the car repaired. They will not entertain anything. No compensation for loss of use, and 4 to 8 weeks after it is approved to issue a check!

The car is not safe to operate in current condition. My son uses the car for transportation to go to school at Temple University, and to work part time at the K-Mart where the incident took place.

Netflix movies arrive late and alread opened. I reported this two weeks ago to my mail deliveryman, and informed him that the mail tampering was being investigated. The problem stopped immediately for two weeks. It resumed today. This is not the first time that I've reported this problem, but it's becoming increasing clear to me that our mailman or some postal employee he's associated with is tampering with my mail. I would like it to stop. Please feel free to contact me and anytime for more details. I would like to have the movie envelope fingerprinted (only the inside sleeve) to see who's fingerprints are on it.

Ernest of Melbourne FL (11/2/04):
I shipped a small package to a friend in 66061. It contained antique toys dating back to the 1930s. The package was in a box and contents were properly secured inside. When package arrived it was severely damaged and contents were completely destroyed.

Package and contents were returned to me and I spoke to the postmaster at my post office. Her answer to me was that since the package was not insured they were not responsible for the damage.

The results were that the antiques were lost and the $50.00 that was sent to me for the pieces was returned to the buyer. The person the items were for lost $9.00 in shipping fees. It seems the post office should be responsible for the safety of the package if the parcel is damaged to an extent that the contents are destroyed.
