First Premier Bank - Fees

First Premier Bank
Fees, fees, fees
Service problems

matthew of wexford, PA March 12, 2010

My wife got the [First Premiere Bank] credit card, cause shes from other country and wanted to build her credit. Was awful, on her first statement she had to pay almost 219 ONLY PER FEES! she had this card for almost 5 months and only made 3 purchases cause every month is some kind of fee... she cancel her account and they offered anew credit card HA! never again!

BRENDA of FORT LAUDERDALE, FL March 11, 2010

I noticed an account number on my credit report that wasn't mine. I told First Premier to remove the unidentified account number. Instead they placed my actively used card that was valid as Lost/Stolen so now I can't use my card and I have wait 3 days for a replacement card. I used this card to restore my credit history and now because of this all my good credit history is stopped based on this card. My credit report is being affected based on falsely reported information, ie: unidentified account number.

Linda of Far Rockaway, NY March 10, 2010

I am writing a phone harrassment complaint. This company continuously calls me. If my bill is due on the 17th of the month and they have not received payment, they start calling every other day, 2 or three times a day. The reason I am complaining is because I am not in arrears. I make my payment every month. The minimum payment is 20.00 and I pay the minimum of 100.00.

I made a payment on both cards 2 weeks ago of 200.00 and they are calling me because one card is over limit due to membership fee. My bill is not due until next week. In the last two week over 20 representatives have called me for a payment. They call me when I am working and at school. They should not be calling me at all because my account is current. The phone calls are driving me crazy.

Crystal of Sherman, TX March 8, 2010

So I got a credit card so i could use it for gas everyday driving 45 min to and from work but i soon after cancelled my card because everytime i spoke to anyone consurning my account they were very very rude. Now i get calls probably 20 times a day, not even kidding, and everytime someone is yelling at me. It makes me so mad that i dont even want to call and make a payment. They even called my work before and were on my case about paying..WHEN IM WORKING!!!! They said they needed a payment then and they didnt care i was at work. I will never use First premier bank card or even the bank for anything again and i will let other people know how bad of a experience i had will them. Their staff is very rude and you dont need to use them for any reason at all!!!!!

Connie of Quarryville, PA March 7, 2010

All First premier customers need to close there accounts with this company. We are making them super rich off our hard earn money. They will try to get you to keep your account open, by offering a 30 dollar credit or lowering your apr back to 9.9%.as long as you close it in good standing it wont hurt your credit, but may lower your score.I have closed and paid off 3 accounts with them, 1 left to ppay but closed.A big relief for me and my wife. It cost me a hour or two of my time to do this closing of the accounts. Also 22.00 dollar in fees that werent not neccasary.I was lied to get this money.

Jacqueline of Halethorpe, MD March 4, 2010

This company preys on people with not so good credit and what's more is these people are aware of it and are desperately trying to clean it up. There are sooo many fees charged initially it is insane. Also once you pay off your entire balance don't think you are home free becaus every month there is going to be a charge for some fee. It is ridiculous. I think all of the people who complained on this website needs to file a complaint with the FTC. I think that is the only REAL way something will get done. It wasn't until there was a surge in complaints regarding identity theft that something got dome and this situation is no different. There is power in numbers and once more and more people complain to the FTC in addition to this website then someone somewhere will have to take notice

sabrina of manchester, NH March 2, 2010

I noticed that my APR went from 9.9% to 20.15% so I called in to find out why. I was then transferred to another department. I asked why my APR went up and it ws explained to me that due to new leglislation imposed by the govt. the new terms are effective 2/28/10 unless I choose to opt out. I requested a copy of the letter that has the new terms and conditions as she stated that I have until 3/19/10 to accet the new terms. She gave me an overview of the biggest changes and then told me that I have to accept the new terms or she would cancel my account.

I asked her not to make any changes to my account until I have a chance to read the changes to the terms and conditions. She said "No, I have to put that you accept the new terms and conditions or I will cancel your account". She was yelling at me and arguing with me that I had no choice but to accept the terms that I have not had a chance to read yet or she ws cancelling my account. When I asked for a manager she said No multiple times. I told her not to make any changes to my account, just to send me the letter that I did not previously receive and to put me on with a manager.

She finally put me on with a manager who told me that the previous rep has to either change my account accepting the new terms or cancel my account because that is her job. When I told her that all I wanted was a copy of the letter outlining the new changes, she told me that I must have asked to be transferred to that department where they enter the acceptance or opt out of these terms. I told her that I did not request her department I was transferred to her because I asked the first rep why my APR had gone up. She then proceeded to tell me that if I did not accept the terms that my account would be cancelled. I have been a customer for 7 years and have never missed a payment or been late or over the limit, nor have I ever felt so mistreated.

Lori of Prattville, AL March 1, 2010

I was offered a credit card from First Premier Bank to rebuild my credit. Yes, I knew about all the fees and was okay with that as many accounts do have processing fees, annual fees, etc. I made my payments on time, but the first month -- February 2010 -- they assessed me a late fee on 02/25/10 and my payment arrived on 02/26/10. They called my house but their telephone number is blocked and the number they provided goes nowhere, so I couldn't call them to discuss what had happened. Then I received a notice from my ID protection agency that First Premier Bank had listed me as delinquent on the Experian Credit Report. Don't they have to wait 30 days before posting a delinquency? Today is only 03/01/2010. They haven't even given me a business week to respond or rectify the situation. Reporting me to the credit bureaus seems to be contrary to what their supposed purpose of helping people rebuild their credit.

Jerry of Lafayette, GA February 27, 2010

Just got my March statement to find out they uped my APR from 9.9% to 20.15% with NO PRIOR NOTICE. I called them back in Sept to ask what if any changes they would be makeing (because my other card went from 9.9 to 14.9) the young man Justin told me they were not going to be makeing any changes.

I called today and asked if this is common practice to up someones APR when I have ALWAYSE made my payments on or before due date & more than the min payment Samantha told me that they did this to all cardholders but they could file a form with the finance dept requesting they reconsider the finance rate but Congress made them do it & I said Congress didnt tell them they had to go up that high only that they have a cap on how high that they could go. I have had this card for 4 years and told her this isnt the way buisness is suppose to be done with a GOOD customer! (God forbid they lower someone's apr for doing paying on time etc). I told them that it's not the way they would be doing buisness with me.

After I talk with an attorney I will be closeing my account. This type of buisness is whats wrong with our economie, as a small buisness owner that extend's credit to my clientele I speak with some understanding of how to do GOOD buisness with people. I am just a small buisness owner that congress is trying to help me in one more way to close the door's & put just a few more people out of work in a small 6 red light town.

Sandra of Raynham, MA February 24, 2010

The fees to this credit card are outrageous. Since I have had this card I have only made 3 purchases. I have paid the 25.00 minimal balance with no change in my balance, so basically have paid at least 150.00 towards the account but still have the same balance. This month they changed the billing date, so I missed it by one day and now am being charged over limit and late charges ( I've always paid on time)

So now not only have I paid all this money, but am now over the limit and considered late wihout even using it since for the last 6 months! I'm broke, my husband is out of work, I needed the credit card to help when I was on maternity leave, but now I just want to get rid of it, but obviously that won't be easy
