Robert of Farmingdale NJ (03/25/09) They claimed I was late with there payment, so I logged onto there web site to verify my lateness, but low and behold they said my payment arrived the day before it was due....so I called them and told them this, and magically the dates was changed on their web site, showing I was last, so I refused to make the late payment of 35. Now this has accumulated to over 582.00 in 4 months, which I refuse to pay.
I have contacted the FTC because now they are calling me at least 10 times per day from outside the US. Ive tried answering a few of the calls at the begging, but I could not understand what they were saying and what country they were from. They could say and I understood they were form Applied Bank, thru there broken English. Contacted the FTC and filed a complaint about applied bank calling me excessively, They usually start around 8:30am and continue until about 12:00, then start again about 5:00 and continue until around 8:30pm, usually calling about 12/15 times per day, sometimes back to back to back, 3 calls in less than 1 minute.
I know they are distrubing me at all hours of the day, including weekends, buy constantly caslling me. And I am refusing to pay the arrears.
Jason of Philadelphia, PA March 23, 2009
Jason of Philadelphia PA (03/23/09) About ten days ago I received a call on my cell phone from an unknown creditor asking for a woman named Melisa or Mandy. I informed the man that no one by that name was here and hadn't been at that number for at least 10 years; the length of time that I have had my cell phone and my phone number. I was called again the next day by the same creditor, again I informed him that he had the wrong number and to stop calling me.
Two days later I again received a call from the same creditor. I told him again that he had the wrong number and to please stop calling me. Two days later he called again. I asked where he was calling from and he refused to acknowledge what company he represented. He then asked me my name and I told him that it wasn't relevant. This evening I received another call and had a female friend get on the phone to figure out who was calling. They Identified themselves as Jay B from Applied Bank. They were inquiring about a debt of 6oo some dollars for an account that ended in 6299. The five times that I mentioned were not the only times that they called, there are four missed calls by them since 3/18/09. I have no idea what this debt is and am extremely tired of being harassed, especially for a debt that is not mine.
They are eating up my minutes
Carol of Tacoma, WA March 21, 2009
Carol of Tacoma WA (03/21/09) My account has been open about two years. Thats when the nightmare began. I have hardly used this card in the last year and a half because for some reason I am always and I do mean always over my limit. When I have phoned and tried talking to someone I can understand and they can understand me, we get nowhere. I ask How can I be over my limit I have not used the card in over a year, I have made my payments on time. I have always paid more then the minimum due, maybe not a lot more but something. They said well you are over your limit thats why. I said ok so you told me that and I can see that on the bill what I dont understand is how did I get there when I do not use the card and why doesn't my balance ever go down below my limit?
The person I was talking to again said well you must pay and get your account in good standing and then we talk to you about it. They hung up on me. This has just been horrible trying to speak with someone who understands the english language and know what they're talking about in the banking business. I really don't think anyone exists in that category at Applied Bank. After reading a lot of these complaints isn't there something someone can do to stop these people from treating us as they are? We're being ripped off right in front of our noses. I am on dissability and my husband is on a small pension. We live paycheck to paycheck. Every cent counts as I'm sure it does with everyone writing to you.
I really feel who ever is suppose to be watching out for the banks like Applied are falling down on the job. I hope someone can come up with something to stop this place.
Janet of Arma, KS March 20, 2009
Janet of Arma KS (03/20/09) I accepted a mail offer from applied card bank. I admit that I did get behind on payments. I arranged through a debt management agency to not only pay off the applied card bank, but my other credit cards as well. Applied card bank agreed to accept the terms of the agreement and the payment that was agreed upon by the debt management company.
Every month, they would call wanting more money than the agreed upon payment, and refused to deal with the debt management company. I know I made a few payments to the debt management company a few days late, but I made a payment to them every month like I was supposed to. I always made sure they got the biggest payment, even though I had one other credit card I owed a lot more to. In fact, I just paid off the Applied Card Bank in my last debt management payment, and I still got a call from them. They don't stick to something that they themselves agreed upon. I am glad I am finished with it.
